"This DLC is worth me jumping back into horizon forbidden west, completing it to play because as you said, markets, it's super short. It's a short. It's only like a few missions in this DLC. But do you think it's worth it for someone in my particular position as a gamer? I mean, yeah, especially since, you know, being on the show as we all know that, yeah, you got the game for free. You said you have code sitting in your thing. It's absolutely worth jumping. Don't tell everyone. For those out there who may not have gotten a code, probably didn't get a code type of DLC for free. I think it is. I think it's I still think it is as well. I think it's totally fine to kind of just mainline and golden path with story through forbidden west. And see everything that's got that is to be seen, get all the new gadgets and stuff, because horizon almost did this very light level of metroidvania in forbidden west where you'll get certain tools and like, oh, now I can go back to this cave, and I can dive further underwater. And actually it's fully explore it. And so it's actually probably the better way. I did not play horizon forbidden west, the most optimal way I literally tried to do everything on my way as I was going through the campaign. And I would realize, I was like, oh, I'm three quarters of this cave, and I can't get to the last quarter because I don't have this upgrade. So it's kind of better to just mainline profit and get all the upgrades, get all the stuff, do the DLC, get those bonuses and all the new really cool gear. And then go back and do the side stuff if you're once you're more invested in the story. I think once you're more invested in the story, the side stuff becomes even more impactful for you. I ran into a side quest that has an NPC and I won't say his name, but was originally in the frozen wilds DLC. And I found him in the burning shorts, DLC, and by far one of my favorite side quests, like it literally brought me to tears. It was such a powerful moment. And I highly recommend highly recommend that stuff as well. Plus, if you play burning shores, you get to hang out with Sega and seka is awesome. Yeah. It's cool. She's very cool. What's cool is once you get over there, they have gear that you get very early on that kind of, I wouldn't say instantly replaces any of your old stuff, but it's new gear that you can wear. I assume, oh, I know it was. That was footage from the review. And I'm like, oh, did they get my footage somehow? Because that's literally the outfit I'm wearing, because that's an outfit you get right when you start. And so I would say some of the gear, the beginning gear, you can get at the DLC will replace like basic gear or like the epic purple tier gear that you get throughout the main story of forbidden west. But if you did like the trials and the arenas, I'm still using a lot of that here because a lot of that gear is like that legendary rating and it has a lot of good stuff. Biden even replacing a few of those with running shorts because some of that stuff is better. But I've gotten that through side quests. So horizon does a really good job of rewarding you for going off the beaten path. So yeah, if you got what is it, it's like the acera gear or something like that. Yeah, yeah. That's probably not going to get replaced to too early, but akim, I don't think you have to worry about that. I think you're probably fine. I got a really cool rope Caster, which is the one that can tie down the creatures called the ties that bind. And I was like, this is the best name for a rope Caster ever. I'm never going to replace that. It is a cool one. That is a very cool one. And opponent's points for anybody in the comments going to tell me what game that was a subtitle from. Don't say it if you guys know it on the show. But yeah. But yeah, you do get a new weapon, so that's worth jumping in for. It's kind of cool, so I assume maybe we'll see more of that in the third game. And but yeah, I would say just like visually, it's kind of cool. You know how it is in forbidden west, you would see San Francisco, so you'd see Golden Gate Bridge and stuff like that. And you're like, oh, that's cool. That has that kind of same effect in this where it's like you see, you walk right past the Hollywood sign and stuff like that. And stuff like that, it's pretty cool. But yeah, the game overall is just gorgeous. In the footage that we showed, the review footage, I'm pretty sure I saw my neighborhood where I'm currently living in Los Angeles, which is kind of weird. I saw the cross streets. I would just I would just recommend not living there in the future. I live right there, right there, what we're looking at right now, I live in that complex. That rounded complex interesting. You might need to pull some weeds looking rough. So, you know, horizon forbidden west came out. It did really well, but I feel like it's had a little bit less steam than we got when a zero Don dropped. And obviously, people say, oh, you know, the first one dropped after breath of the wild. And then the second one dropped after elden ring, or right before, excuse me. And so it got kind of overshadowed. What does the horizon game horizon? What does the horizon franchise need for the third the sequel? What does it need? What element does it need to bring to

"A contrarian. Like, no, I'm not going to, I'm not going to be a Laker fan. You know, I'm tired of winning, you know? It'd be like you're an auburn football fan, as opposed to an Alabama fan. Like, no, no, I don't like dynasties. I don't like great teams. But the clippers losing Paul George, we don't know the severity of that, but it looked bad. St. John's introduces Rick Pitino and it was packed house. All you gotta do is look at the NCAA tournament and the number of players who are from New York City and if you can get some of those guys in the portal, you can keep those players in New York, Rick Pitino will be successful. I'll be surprised if he's not successful. And the portal is coming up in the next two weeks. If you keep some of those players and there's a couple of point guards who are in the tournament now Marv. Yeah, starting point guard for Michigan state. They were actually both of them were my best of the weekend. The two point guards from Kansas state and from Michigan state, they're both from New York City. Once from Harlem, the one with the Christ the king out in Queens. In Queens. Yeah. How is that possible, you know? That you're going to and Louis carnase was there. Louis cornice is 98 years of age. And Pauly goes, God, I can't believe Louie Curtis seka. I said, what do you mean? He's got better hair than I do, and he's 98. That's very frustrating. First of all, I did not know he's still alive out of respect. 98 and he's got a perfect head of hair. He does very frustrating. Yeah. And I was fortunate to be able to cover the St. John's. They were the red men at the time, went Chris mullin, Mark Jackson. They had a wonderful team. And St. John's owned the garden back then. That's when you had Georgetown and Villanova, I mean, you had all of these Syracuse, all these great teams. When the big east was the best basketball conference ever. And to be around that St. John's team and Louis had the sweaters and then you had the rivalry with John Thompson. But it was great to see him at the press conference there with Rick Pitino. Yes, maybe it's just like really optimistic thinking, but you're saying like just locally. If you could get New York City kids to stay at St. John's, you could have one of the most entertaining basketball teams in the country to watch. Just in their own backyard, just the history of basketball in New York City, the style of play. Oh man, that could be awesome. They love their basketball. And the colleges in New York City. And they loved college basketball. Obviously, they love the Knicks. They're dying for a winner. And if Pitino can somehow get the back pages there, the tabloids, you bring a couple of players in, keep them home. That shouldn't be that difficult. I would be shocked if Pitino is not a great success at St. John's. I want Rick petito to get the tabloid pages in the good way. Oh, yeah, so make sure they're all on a pot. Big win over Georgetown. Yes. Yes. The WBC, the world baseball classic. People don't realize it's been around since 2006. But it changed this year because you had really good players who were deciding to play. Mike Trout decided to play. Now, the other countries, they want their players to play because this is their true World Series. And the atmosphere was wonderful. Now you had some people who did say, oh, I don't want our players out there. There's freak injuries there. Edwin Diaz got injured. I mean, that would never happen again. He got injured, celebrating, okay? Jose Altuve, that's a baseball injury. Broke his thumb. But I understand the concerns there. They're valid, but only with the Jose Altuve. Diaz, he's just jumping up and down. Last year, the World Series had an average of just over 12 million viewers per game. Japan's quarterfinal game against Italy totaled over 64 million. Shohei Ohtani, he gained over 2 million new social media followers since the start of the tournament. So this is a gold mine for Major League Baseball. Baseball has had an unbelievable start to the season and we haven't started the season. But WBC, they're going to, you know, we got to wait three more years. But you had the scenario that you wanted. It was United States against Japan, John smoltz, who was on the call last night, joined us yesterday, and he said this. I got this sneaky suspicion. That maybe late in the game, if team Japan is up, you may see Shohei Ohtani close it out. And would it be something? More than theater. That if shohei ohtani with two outs and a runner on is facing Mike Trout for the chance to win the WBC either way would be pretty incredible if it actually happened. That's John smoltz yesterday and this is how it sounded last night on Fox Sports one. Ohtani's ready. Trout's ready three two he's struck him out. He strikes out trout and Japan's back on top of the baseball world. Yeah, Japan is one in a couple of times previously and now all of a sudden, in case there was any argument, the most valuable baseball player around the world is Shohei Ohtani. The most famous is Shohei Ohtani. And he'd be famous if he was pitching. He threw a hundred, a 101 one O two, and then he came back with whatever filth that was. Look like a wiffle ball slider. And Mike Trout went down swinging. I was rooting for Mike Trout not because the United States, but because here's Mike Trout getting a moment. And we want great players to have those moments. You want them to be on a big stage. Well, guys who produce when Kurt Gibson, when he comes up there, you know, Willis Reed and the NBA Finals. Like that moment where you go, I want you to do well. Now they were injured and had a dramatic appearance, here is Mike Trout, we're waiting for these moments. And I wanted him to take ohtani deep. Just to tie the game and then whatever happened after that, but ohtani hit four 35 for the tournament. I mean, the numbers, let me give you what he did. So he had 23 plate appearances, ten hits, 8 RBIs, had a Homer. He walked ten times, his average was four 35, his OPS was 1.345, pitching stats to how to save struck out 11 and they batted one 52 against him. Styling the day started the day sky of the day this is the state of the day. Instead of the day brought to you by panini America, the official trading cards to the Dan Patrick show. Plus, I think it's good for the WBC that the United States lost. Because I go back to the Americas cup. We didn't even know about the America's cup. Until we lost the America's cut, like, oh my God, we lost to Australia. We got to get back, none of us have ever owned a boat. None of us sail, but damn it, Australia had the America's cup. And it says our name on it, and we want it back. You know, you go back to 1988 with the Olympics. The reason why we had the Dream Team is because 1988 did not bring home the gold medal. They had amateurs, John Thompson was the head coach. And then you

"For a second? Please, I want to stop myself from talking. I was thinking about coach K, there's a moment here today when it seemed like they were going to lose. Before Michigan state just shit the bed. But it was in the air for about two minutes. There's a commercial. It's like, oh my God, duke might actually lose. Round two, Jesus. Then I was thinking, Cal Perry gets knocked out around one, and it feels like that call para Kentucky thing. The magic feels like it might be gone. With that, and you have beheim, you know, they're the tail end, but I was thinking like, who's going to be the signature college basketball coach? Like 8 years from now. Once this whole generation of guys gets weeded out or retires the whole thing, is this it? Is this like the last kind of the last hurrah for the impactful, awesome, larger than life college basketball coach or is there another generation coming? Is it like Jay Wright? Are we going to think of Jay Wright ten years from now? We thought of like Dean Smith in the 90s? It doesn't feel like it. I don't know either. I also think the big east all of it got so screwed up over the years too. It just doesn't feel the same. That was so great about the big east back that's heyday. As you get these massive personalities that were so different from each other. And back when I'm sure you and I both love college basketball as much as we did. I just don't have as much time for it now, but I loved it. I mean, I would rather watch a big Monday than an NBA game. Like probably into my 20s. I remember watching PAC 12 stuff like crazy because I just loved it. It was like when a couple years there were the league was totally deep. But I'm with you. You know, I mean, what are you going to have guys going three decades plus? I don't know if I don't know if work works that way anymore. You know what I mean? Is anyone going to have the juice to be able to have a bad couple of bad losing seasons and stick around? I don't think the job is that anymore. Yeah, it's thinking about the 80s big east. Thompson, beheim, Robin. Louis Carr and seka. And it just felt like the coaches were almost the stars, even though there were all these great players throughout the coaches always kind of levitated above everybody else. And then the ACC little bit with Dean Smith and Roy Williams and coach K but now we're heading into this era where I'm not sure who's going to have it because I don't feel like even Tom izzo, who has been around forever and done some great things, but I don't feel like he has crossed over the way like John Thompson did. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. There's a while there where I would have put in a game up against anybody. Yeah, I'm not talking about actual skill as a coach. I'm just talking about like personality, charisma. Like you would think Jay Wright would have it, but I don't feel like I do wonder like with duke and calipari. And beheim, obviously. But those three will that be it? Well, self is somebody you would bring up at Kansas, but when was the last Bill self conversation? Would you have a 15 minute Bill self conversation? Do people have takes sides of Bill self? Like, no. National takes? I really like Bill self. Just for the record. Yeah, I like them too. But think about in the 70s, 80s and 90s. We would have long arguments, conversations about like tarkanian and Thompson and duke versus Dean Smith, who was better than it became duke versus Roy Williams and I don't know, it felt like such a big part of college basketball. Now, I don't think about the coaches as much. I think that's the sport, though. It really is not in the daily consciousness the way that it was. And it felt like it happened really quick. Do you think you have to stay.

"Of the Kaleidoscope where every week we discuss issues, including LGBT Q income inequality and race. This week. We look at the plight of black farmers in 1910. They were 14% of the nation's farming population. Today. That figure is just 1.4%. This week. Two bills were introduced in the Senate to address years of discrimination against black farmers. But Abraham Carpenter junior is among those disturbed by President Biden's choice of Tom Vilsack to lead the Department of Agriculture. Carpenter, whose family has run a farm and Grady, Arkansas for more than 50 years, doesn't think Vilsack did right by black farmers when he held that job during the Obama administration, Carpenter says, Despite the lack of government help his family's farm is doing well with AIDS from a different quarter is Really, by the grace of God goes in spite of us, you know, growing real crowd of produce crops were still had toe deal with USDA, You know, as far as Loans and And pay mentioned all of that, So, uh, they could be quite vicious at times. Especially if you have a devastating year of disastrous year. They haven't been cooperative all the time. They're better now than they were in the past. I must give him Ready for that, but but they have been quite vicious in the past. Alone under under Bill Psycho. You know way experience a lot of problems on the bill Seka. Myself and many other farmers said. I know We didn't get a whole lot of relief, you know, and and when I would try to talk to the people and The emphasis, you know. Well, they would like to, so they're taking care of the time. So that's the reason everybody's Kind of opposed a bill say, because Yeah, when he was there, doing eight years during the Obama administration. He himself and the people that He, uh he had a head on Only straight roller who was supposed to be taking care of the farmers. They actually were not. You know they were working. It seems like against the farmers. So that's uh that's the reason So many people are opposed to it. Uh, I know myself. I didn't How did you get anything on the door bombing? No straight. I love Obama and I voted for him twice. But the people that you chose to put in a position like The Saville said. You know, I hope this is better now because I see that President Biden is His heart set on putting him in place. But hey, must know that if he put Mr Dill second place, and he has to do a better job of taking care Farmers and generous, especially black farmers. Now I understand that there is a bill coming for Senator Warnock and Corey booking a few others. Which would actually make all the black farmers hole is that legislation, though going to help for all of the years of foreclosures of black farmers and the discrimination that You all have had to deal with under, you know, not just got the last administration in particular, but under many administrations, right? Is that really going to make you hold? As you just said, Well, If it really Congress all of that, like they say that it does. It won't make everybody 100% whole, But it would. It would be a great start, Huh? It would it would. It would go over a long ways because Most of the farm was not if you have the debts hanging over their heads, But if they could get all of that dead wiped away clean. It would put a lot of them in a good position, you know, doing The veal Psycho administration. Bush administration. You know, I found several complaints because you know you have no option when they don't treat you right. When they treating you unfairly you, you have no option but to file a complaint. So we do that The only problem was 100, The Vilsack administration. Uh On. You know George Bush and he did some things, but we just received no relief. It was just terrible. And I hope that it's better that I hope that they put People in place who actually care. About the farmers who care about people you know and have the love of God in their heart, because that's the only thing that's gonna make a difference. No, That's the only thing that's going to make a difference because farmers are suffering people of something, you know, and But they haven't realized is whatever will fix the farmers in a negative, way up positive way it trickles over to the economy trickles over to the American people. The farmers are suffering now. Believe me, Uh, the economy is going to somethingto a certain degree because farmers employing and do so much for the communities and the economy. You know it. If you can't talk about farming, you talk about the equipment companies, the fertilizer companies to chemical companies. The banks And it is when your government agencies they even though they fight against us. They won't even have a job. If it wasn't for the farmers, you would need all those people know this is Get it now farmers for them to assist So they really need to do their job and try to stay employed by taking care of people like this shit. Let me ask you. What do you What do you need to hear from Mr Vilsack to make you think? Okay, This man is going to help us in a way that you said earlier. He did not necessarily. The last time he was head of that department. Well, I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't need to hear anything from bills that bill say I don't need to hear anything from President Bite bite. I need action. I need him to put this building place that they're saying that they're going to put in place to make the farmer's whole I need them to do it expeditiously. "Your fascination with race car driving? Well, I was at a very early age. I my parents told me I didn't go anywhere without a matchbox or hot wheels. Tired my hands, So I knew I liked cars and you know it soon I got on a bike, A little sting ray bicycle. I wrote it to stash it. I could. So I just love going fast. And you know, my father he saw that I had this passion for, you know, cars and speed. So he took me to a race just shy of my being eight years old in northern California at attract Paul McKenna Seka in Monterey, and I was just mesmerized and blown away by it, and I knew at a very early age that race car driving was something I really wanted to do. It wasn't what you initially pursued for people who don't know your story. You have a dual degree in electrical engineering and computer science. You were fast track management at Hewlett Packard working on developing computer diagnostics. You know, some people would consider that. You are on your road to success in this field. So what made you decide to pardon the pun But take a turn? Well, because I defined success is happiness. I was not happy doing what I was doing even though Was successful by everybody else's definition, but my own, you know, they thought, Hey, Bill, You know you're making a six figure income. You've got responsibilities in terms of, you know, managing a couple dozen engineers and No get stability. You have everything that supposedly success quote unquote is but for me. Successes, happiness and I wasn't happy. So I didn't consider myself successful. So it wasn't as if by all the sudden woke up one day and decided to throw away you know this career in the high tech industry. Go racing. No, nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is, I wanted to be a race car driver, but I just didn't have the opportunities that most race car drivers. Yet when they're very young age, you know, usually in their single digit years. Most aspiring racecar drivers come from affluent families that can't afford to put them behind the wheel of either a go cart or a quarter midget or just a small scale race car that a kid can drive. And they soon began to climb the ladder of success to allow them just at some point become a professional. Well, that was not the situation for me. My parents thought I was crazy. For the most part. They want to pursue something and racing. But they said, Hey, you know, that's your dream. That's your passion, You know. Good luck. We hope you make it. But one of the things that you might want to use is, you know a career to center. You and back, you know, basically provide a backstop for you. In case you don't make it, and that's what the high tech industry was for me. That's what going to the University of California, Berkeley and getting electrical engineering and computer science degree was it was a tool. It was a means to an end because effectively with that engineering degree I started working as a, you know, Software development professional. But almost immediately bought myself a racecar. So here I am in my early twenties, just starting out in my career, you know, has an amateur, not a professional, but as an amateur and then getting to the point that at 37 years of age Have gotten married at that point, and my wife, Cheryl, she sat me down one day, and she said, Hon. I'm not getting any younger and you're definitely not getting any easier to live with, because you're miserable. Go pursue your passion. You know you've worked hard. We save some money. I'm also doing very well in my career. You know my wife. She's smart person in the household. She's got the MBA from Stanford. Right, so I'll kick my coverage. I like to say, but she encouraged me to leave the nest. And to pursue this dream. And so we gave ourselves a three year window by which to make this dream a reality or realize that I gave it my best and it wasn't meant to be and I would have to go back to the realization Going back into the high tech sector. Fortunately, that didn't happen. That didn't happen, and I was able to move on inspiration. And you're right about your wife. You're right. Cheryl has the patience of a saint. What e in terms of your own patient, especially when you're somebody who's used to achieving when you first start out in something. You don't start at the top. What kind of conversations did you have to have with yourself about that? Exactly. You know, I had to have an innate, inherent ability and my, you know, faith in my abilities, and I have that you know. Soon as I got a driver's license, I was doing all kinds of silly things that I don't condone on the street. I mean, Street racing. I was doing the fast and the furious before was a movie. And so you know, people that are raised and what have you would say? You know, Look, you know a lot of skill. A lot of talent. Take it off the streets. You know you don't want to race illegally, anything can happen. Go out there into a controlled environment and see if you really have what it takes. And I was like, sounds great. How do I do it? Well, you've got to get a race car, and so that's when I knew. You know, I had to get in occupation. That would allow me to, you know, afford to go racing, and that's why I You know, I took the road that I chose. Um, but you're right. I mean, there were no guarantees I had already you know, since I had made it in high tech I had a stable career stable income, you know, had the trappings of quote unquote success. But again, you know, I was living for the weekend..

The House number four because I've got a library of sports books and such that I like to read and you got the home entertainment system. But then I'm thinking if you're thinking like Miller Like What do you have? What? The entertainment system. Can I bring my DVDs? Don't can I? Can I watch my APS on there? Do I have expended e? I mean right now knows what all this So Miller's got Netflix, though. That flex in the in a pantry full of snacks. That's the other thing. I mean, does he is it only the two houses? They have food? Is that what we're going with? I mean, painters next or tacos and margaritas. Take your pick. I guess otherwise. That he Oh, that's my choices. I'm gonna be locked in with Netflix and smoking a smoking jacket. No shot. Uh, Louis. Hold on a second. Hey, Lewis. Morning, Gentlemen. What's up? Not too much feeling great. This is a great segment, by the way, but I think the rules need to be discussed and agreed upon everyone because I was overthinking when this whole thing started that It was more like when you're booking a hotel. Motels, like have breakfast included with the hotel or like, why five or whatever, but it wasn't like, you know, So these houses have these different things that it comes with. What? You weren't you? I wasn't thinking that you were limited to. Okay, So if I take the one with the pantry full of food, um and and Netflix That I can't like, Go outside and do something or like, or if I was at the beach house with tacos and hotels that I can't call our time. I was nice. This is just what came with the house. This is what's included, But if I wanted to put my everyone wanted to log into my Netflix on while I'm in the beach house, I just felt like that's what I could do are just I'll just have to pay for Netflix. It doesn't come with Netflix. Right? Me. Exactly. I felt like I could stop at the Marianas where the jewels right near the house on my way, way up my wife's SUV and go. I got all the groceries. I d. You gotta hold Patrick, Look for luck snack just that you paid for it and he comes. With the house. Exactly the difference. Right? Freddie? Mac Capital. My man's man. Where you going? Louis Fichera kid. Yeah, like hoody, Stop it! Rise, pick up a few edibles or whatever. And stop it. Benny's stop at the jewels and then pull up to my beach house. I'm good. So that makes sense. Right? Miller, you you are already coming in with the groceries. The only difference is on these other houses. Is the tacos and margaritas already there for you. Once you get there, I guess, although I feel like you know, caps acting like the guy who you know, has a genie Who says you have three wishes? None. Third wish caps like I want five more wishes.
