Donald Trump Jr. Talks About Getting Targeted by PNC Bank

"Us now is Donald Trump Jr. who's experienced his own version of cancel culture, the cancel, and then un cancellation Don welcome back to the program. Good to be with you, Charlie. How's it going, man? It's going great, great speech at cpac. Tell us about your situation in the last day and a half with PNC bank. It's very interesting. Oh, it's crazy. I mean, again, and if you think, a guy like me with a pretty big platform and a decent credit, we have MXM news. I know I've talked about it on your show. That made some friends. We put together a news aggregation app. We were sick of people not seeing important stories. Hunter Biden laptop, Wuhan lab week as a possible theory for the few years, and so we put together an app that gathers news from all over the place. We have The New York Times down there. We have left leaving stations. We have right leading stations, but we see it all. And we had an account our operating account was at PNC bank. And Taylor by the way, who you know, and partner in the daily goes to check our operating account one morning and there's nothing in it. He calls me. He's like, we got bad news. I think we got hacked on this whole $750,000 out of the operating account. He calls the bank immediately after speaking to me. Oh, yeah, sorry. There's a FedEx on the way to you with a cashier's check for the entire mount. We decided to close out your account. No, no reasoning. Didn't even bother to give us a phone call. And this is PNC bank. I mean, this is a major national bank. Just decided that I guess someone who is willing to show people both sides of the news, not even writing our own, that that was enough. So I got pretty upset about that. You know, got on social a bunch of people from the maga movement and big conservatives started tweeting about it. You were one of those stories. So I appreciate that because we have to highlight the attack that is going on on conservatives on a daily basis.

Building the Parallel Economy With Michael Seifert of PublicSq

"You're also trying to do, Michael and build this out. We have a couple minutes. Is you're trying to change the incentive structure, which I think is the most brilliant part of what you're doing. And it's not as clear on the surface because right now there is an incentive to be woke. The incentive is that you don't have these crazy people shouting at you and calling for your resignation. We call it the woke excise tax. Goldman Hershey BlackRock, they would much rather just pay ten to $15 million to some trans nonprofit and then they feel as if that's just their penance that protects them. What you're trying to say though is actually we want to make an incentive. We want to create a reward if you are pro American. That's absolutely right. We're actually trying to shift who wins in our economy, because for far too long, the DEI ESG crowd has one at the massive corporate level. And it was really sad during COVID. There was a great example of this. You saw some major corporate entities like Walmart and Amazon preaching about the need for further lockdowns. Meanwhile, the small businesses that couldn't lobby the government were locked down. And they had no say in the matter. And they were deemed non-essential. And so we're actually trying to rewrite the script here. We're trying to tell people a loud and clear message. Small businesses in this country that love their freedoms, love the liberties, and the rights endowed by our creator. These unalienable rights. These businesses will actually win in the long run. We ran a market survey Charlie in 27 states when we got started when I originally had this idea, we asked a few hundred consumers from around the country just to kind of test our idea. We said how many of you, all of which were conservative, but they all came from different socioeconomic backgrounds. How many of you would drive ten minutes farther or spend 10% more? If you knew that every dollar you were spending was an alignment with your values, 98% of our consumers said yes.

Charlie Speaks to Michael Seifert, the CEO of PublicSq

"Michael, welcome to the program. Thanks for having me, Charlie, good to see you. Michael, share the good news with our audience and walk us through what is public square and what to you, what do you hope to achieve? Well, thanks for asking. First of all, we have created the largest network of patriotic businesses and consumers. The country has ever seen. We were hungering for a parallel economy. We were tired of just complaining about it. So we actually created one. And today, less than 8 months after our national launch, we are the largest network with hundreds of thousands of active member consumers and tens of thousands of businesses that are all aligned in their values so that there's trust as a part of every single transaction this week we had a major announcement. We are going public. We are a company by the people for the people and soon we get to be owned by we the people. And so there's a great company, a spac that's currently public called CBR that is taking us public. It's a fantastic team that's like minded in our values. And we're really looking forward to this because we've been a company that's been so grassroots built. It's been we the people that have built this. It's the only way that it's worked to date. We were a bunch of average people that just cared enough to do something. And now this company gets to be owned by average Americans that just want to support companies that do not hate them that will help put purpose behind their purchase so that they can actually change the country with the power of their wallet. That's the best testimony we ever hear, Charlie, is when people say, I feel like I'm changing the country by purchasing a cup of coffee differently. From this app, where I get incentive to spend money in alignment with a value. So it's been a wild ride so far, but I can confidently tell you we are just getting started.

"On liberty station and today I am joined by my good friend entrepreneur, Michael seifert, CEO of public square public SQ and we will talk about him, talk about what he is doing in the world to bring communities and businesses that share values together. And I'm excited to have you, brother. Glad to be here. Thanks for the invite. Yeah, no, I'm glad we make this happen. I'm glad you were willing to come up in person and spend this time with me because from the moment I met you, which was actually at my house at Seth Gruber's 30th birthday party. We get to connect then, didn't get super deep into conversation then, but I liked you, I thought, man, that guy's got it going on. So I'm glad to see all of the success you've had over the last year because I know it's been a wild ride and we're going to get into that. But first, let's hit who you are, give us your bio and kind of quick history because our audience has grown a lot. We are now kind of a national audience. You know, we're on Salem's podcast network and killing it ourselves. And so love to let everybody know who you are and what you're doing. Fantastic. Yeah, I can tell you guys are killing it. This is great. I felt really honored. I got to be here last year as this was starting to kind of evolve into what it is today. And so the fact that the show has had the traction that it's had is not surprising in the slightest. And so honored to be speaking to lots of new voices and audience members on the other side of this podcast and it's a really cool community that's been built here. The name is even significant because liberty, the pursuit of it is really what's driven our company. We want our country to come back to and embrace of liberty. And especially, and I know you get this too. I want the pursuit of liberty to advance because I know the author of liberty. The guy who created it. And so yeah, we'll get into all that. I'm really excited about just even being here. But my name's Michael seifert, started public square, public

"Someone deleted it? And a quick review of the new iPad air, Dan seifert at the verge, says it's super fast now with the M1 chip, has a great display as always, but touch ID is not as convenient as face ID and the front camera is awkward in landscape mode. Quoting his conclusion, the new processor and 5G aside, the iPad air remains the iPad for those looking for a nicer tablet than the base model, but don't necessarily want to spend the costs or need all the bells and whistles of the iPad Pro. It's got a modern design, more performance than most people will know what to do with and a tablet. And an excellent screen that works equally well in portrait or landscape orientation. It's not the iPad I'd recommend holy replacing a laptop with, though it can work for certain laptop like tasks when paired with an optional keyboard case. It's the nicer iPad for those looking to do iPad things, like reading, watching video playing games, taking notes, and perhaps writing the occasional email, but aren't planning on making it their only computing device. A lot of people will be wondering if they should get the air instead of an 11 inch iPad Pro. And I think the choice is easy by the air. You give up the pro motion display, face ID, a couple of speakers, and an extra rear camera with LIDAR, and the option for mmWave 5G of those face ID is the one I'd miss the most, but I don't think it's worth spending $200 for. The whole time I was using the air for this review, it was difficult to find something that stood out about it, partly because we've seen so much of this before. That's not necessarily a problem, and the flip side of that is I was able to just use the air for a wide variety of things without finding much to complain about. Sure, I'd rather have face ID and the mini LED screen of the big iPad Pro would be great, but the absence of those things.

It's going to be twenty four hours of miami fund as he told you we're gonna musical acts downstairs. We're going to have this be a party. That runs for twenty four hours in the epicenter of place. That's hugely dangerous right now. And i keep saying we're going to hunker down in the middle of danger. Yes you should stop. You should. So you're not you're not selling this whole move to miami thing to me right now. I'm getting a little afraid of the decisions. I've made only seven shootings in the last six days in miami. Not even a record it feels. It feels very much like the nineteen eighties around here. And i'm sorry you're afraid. Perhaps i can lighten your mood. With the rage of one chris russo again just blistering. I don't know what rob sallow in such a hurry to do. But he needed a police escort in order to get to wherever it is that he was going the next game. Okay thank you the next game. And so this. Enrages chris russo. That this guy who hasn't won anything gets a police escort. Avi what a joke. It's a joke. I mean it really is. It's a disgrace can't it can't deny it.

"Effects. He just gets me going every time. It's probably the last time we're talking to howard right. He's still on zoom by the way just waiting waiting guys. Mike was just trying to help you know that he was that he was still. It was unfortunate that he was still listening. The one who is not here you may have missed him for a couple of days. Is billy and i wanted so badly to talk to you today. About what bad bunny said he said bad bunny bigger than the grammys bigger than doing the super bowl. He said the biggest moment of his life was performing in wrestling. Yeah he's under selling it to. Because it was the biggest moment in my life. In john morris in one moment in time. Are you not surprised. That bad bunny chose that over the grammy's and the super bowl as best moment of his life. The best part was jazy was like ha ba. Bitter super bowl right like as a joke and bad bunny was wide eyed and he was like no bigger than everything's the biggest moment in my life. He was so serious. It was not a joke to him. I loved it. it's massive. It's a it's a showcase of the immortals than its grandest stage of the mall. I mean to say that about the super bowl man. it's so myopic to just put everything in a super bowl prison when he you really. The standard should probably be the champions league final which he actually wanted for the second time in their club's history. You only team in london with a european cup now. The only team in london with duke european. Mike do me a favor and find that mad dog sound of him yelling about somebody getting a police escort. I want to get to that because he's enraged by he's always i think it was What's your jets. Head coach name rob saleh robert sally. Yeah so he was enraged by that. We'll get to that in a second but before we do over the weekend. While mike was watching this he was enraged by me. And i really was disappointed in mike in general because i understand that this championship was a big moment for him but i texted him that fast and furious and jurassic park. We're talking about a crossover event in which both movies exists. Togethers to god so you. You know the rock and ludicrous against Dinosaurs and stuff. Okay and mike said my timing was terrible. And i just didn't think the timing was ever terrible to send somebody that was a crossover event that was coming. Especially because billy's favorite movie is the food fast and furious franchise. And mike's favorite movies. This jurassic park nonsense. It's not nonsense okay. it's i think one of the biggest It just got knocked off the biggest movie of all time by avengers and then adventures was knocked off. Because it you see that joke. That james cameron just going to re release avatar again just in asia this time so i can be number one now. What no one's asking for these avatar movies by the way is anybody site for avatar avatar was already dated by the time it came out. But i digress. You text me in the middle of the champions league. Final four chelsea yes. I was a terrible time. Because i don't know if you know this i work for the club. I have a podcast. It's official podcast. Chelsea mic'ed up. And i felt like i was a part of the team. I felt like a little bit of me. Lifted that trophy. On saturday. I was in warm embraces with strangers and family. I was emotional. An emotional to have that released in to win the biggest trophy in all of club. Sports it it just meant a lot and i wasn't fully prepared for anybody. Texting me let alone texting me about jurassic park in fast and furious. Now that i've had time to process at sounds amazing. Are you getting a ring a ring for. No you get them metal dan. I've you know..

And to jessica's point no they don't happy union and this is one of the things that people have been sort ridiculing novak djokovic for he's like we need to unionize folks and so this is real interesting time of tactics. And don't forget about this. I think jessica made the point earlier that in this moment in time over the past year. This is a battle for who runs this industry. And you know damn well. We all know that you've challenged the money and you challenge. Who gets the suit at that room. They will destroy you players. Come and go but we're still here. Howard since you brought up the the point about how reference in her statement that she's been struggling this twenty eighteen. I think one of the underrated aspects of the story is how taxing high level sport is. And what the obligation is of high level sport to make it easier on the high performing athletes mental health when mental health and strength is part of the profession. How do you square those two things. Well i think you square by recognizing the paternalism of the sport. Let's not forget how we treat this. All you get paid all these millions to play kids game. It's not a kids game. This is not a kids game. One hundred billion dollar industry and believe me if it were a kids game today on point they wouldn't be trying to smash you the way they're trying to smash you if it were just the kids game for if it were a kids game we play another kids game but this is not a kids game. This this could not be adult game in the world. Hours and international billion dollar industry howard. I wonder how you see this playing out because right now we have a staring match between the best player in women's tennis and the four majors. Somebody's gonna blink. Here's somebody's gonna give in. How do you see plane out. M curious well. I think that the way it's gonna play out is is it should play out is gonna play out the way. It should have played out which you get behind closed doors in your act. Like grown-ups right. I think that's the way it has to play and you're gonna have to have some change because if there is one thing that we can all agree on. If there's one piece of this that we can all agree. It is that those press conferences were not a good enough reason to have the number two player not performing in one of the biggest tournaments in the world. It's just this was not the issue to go all the way ham on on on for either one of so. I think that you gotta get behind closed doors. You gotta listen to what the players saying. I think osaka in some ways if she really wanted this to be something that was going to be a change agent you gotta go to the other players. Say anybody with me on this because a lot of the other players are feeling the same thing but they know they don't have now muzak is protection. It's like when we talk about the other protests when the bras says it. It's one thing when craig hodges has it. It's another so. They know the dynamics here to answer the question. I think how it's going to play out is there's gonna be some diplomacy there better be some diplomacy. I mean everybody lost you. Let's just not forget that piece. Everybody went down. I only asaka loss the tournament loss of fans lost. Everybody lost howard. I would say that tennis players don't realize the actual power they have you hear all this talk about super league's that i maintain that ten is really the only one that could pull it off because you talked about asaka not being in the french open. I don't care about the french open. If osaka's not in it i don't care about a major if it's not djokovic and federer or nidal i don't care so there's like five tennis players that i care about and they have the power i i tend to disagree with that simply because i think that there are parts of their parts of the money game. That just don't make sense right. I mean you watch tennis tournaments like there's nobody there house for run it's like it's like when you walk past that restaurant that's got ten tables. It's every holiday bidding you for twenty years right so tennis. Economics are strained because the prize when he keeps going up and had the interest is less and less than a lot of ways. You have to look internationally in terms of where. The money's from in fact a radically with all of this so much of the money in tennis. The you the the money that is propping up the sport right now is coming from asia so to do this to meiomi. Osaka is actually really sort of cheeky. In a lot of ways and very very arrogant. I think that there's another plane to this too. I think too. I think was just as point earlier. Is that. Let's also think about this from a women standpoint right if you are a female athlete in this country probably in the world. This is the most lucrative sport this is the one look at the wnba salaries against the three point..

Say anybody with me on this because a lot of the other players are feeling the same thing but they know they don't have now muzak is protection. it's like when we talk about the all the protests when the bras says it. I would say that tennis players don't realize the actual power they have you hear all this talk about super league's i maintain. Ten is really the only one that could pull it off because you talked about asaka not being in the french open. I don't care about the french open if osaka's not in it i don't care about it. A major. if it's not djokovic and federer or nidal. I don't care so there's like five tennis players that i care about and they have the power i i tend to disagree with that simply because i think that there are parts of their parts of the money game. You have to look internationally in terms of where the money's coming from in fact a radically with all of this so much of the money in tennis the know the the money that is propping up the sport right now is coming from asia so to do this to meiomi.

"And i think that one of the reasons why you can have these conversations on twitter because this is not a single issue this is not a one stop conversation you gotta pull all of these things apart number one. Look at it from now miyazaki's perspective. This was going to be one of the most challenging summers of her career. She's coming off back to back grand slam. She is emerging as the face. Let's not you cannot underestimate the she's skis. Essentially replacing in a lot of ways serena williams. She's the nazis dare apparent in terms of greatness. That's enormous we always. We already know that when you've watched over the last few years she doesn't seem very comfortable on in image in front of a camera she doesn't. Her interviews are very awkward. she is going onto two of her work surfaces. She doesn't play well on clay. She doesn't play well on grass. She hasn't made the second week in either one of those in either wimbledon oral garros on top of that. She's got an answer for japan. She hasn't decided whether or not she's going to the olympics. She's representing her home country. She's got to deal with that part on top back. She's going to defend her. Us open championship as well. And with all of that simply being the professional side of it she also has the answer for the year anniversary of george. Floyd jacob blake in everything that happened last year. So all of these things are hitting at once and there's no question that that this is real. I mean this is not something that you would look at it. Go well you know. She just doesn't he just doesn't get it. I mean i my issue with our had always been tactics in in. I think that if her second statement had been her first statement. I don't think we're having this conversation. Howard she is the sports a sport that is lacking big stars. Big name she is by far its biggest star. I'm confused by ten. Is's stance here where they should be doing everything they can shouldn't they to be making her more comfortable. Not go away to stay put right. Well that's the other element this that's gotta get a karst. In my opinion which is we are. Also as. Dan said this moment in time. You can't take people out of their context so in the context that were in. We're talking about player empowerment. We're talking about who gets to decide what the rules are. I gotta tell you. I know you guys are going to about this. But when i've been thinking about this story this one name that keeps coming to mind. And it's donald sterling because donald sterling is the guy who said the quiet brought out loud. Do i'd run the game or do they run the game and visit the argument. This still is labor question. As far as i'm concerned we're talking about workplace issues we're talking about workplace conditions for talking about who gets to set the parameters and remember andre agassi back in the day in the eighties was like well. You know i think. This wimbledon tradition of having to wear whites as really outdated and wimbledon was like well sir. You're welcome to come right. They are going to tell you. These tournaments belong to us at the end of the day no matter how big are nominal sokha. We've been here since the nineties. The eighteen ninety man. You know we'll get along without you. It was very harsh response. Howard correct me. If i'm wrong but women's tennis does not have a players union correct and if they did. This seems like an area where there would be some type of mediator between osaka and the governing bodies. That might be able to kind of avoid something like this happening. Where she's going to social media. I and instead of going to management yet will. Here's the here's the piece of that too. Right at tennessee is is a gentle sport to ten can. S has been trying for the last thirty years to figure out. Is it a pastime. Or is it a sport right. This is an onfield. Issue is on court. It's an issue as well and so the real piece of this to me has also been what cow you choose to communicate. And i think that the today's generation of young people they are social media. I i think that everybody got their back when you go public. I and i think that the the other piece of that is if you are going to To to do this and if you read her. First statement i statement. Didn't talk that much about her. Talked about the conditions. It talked about how we've seen other players have trouble and so that being the case this sounded like she was making a statement on behalf of her profession without buying from her profession. So i if you notice this week. And i didn't really sense a great deal of solidarity and support. Obviously lots of concern for her as a person but not a lot of concern for reform and so this is why. I just think that this entire conversation has to get rattled them so many different layers. And you just can't be doing that in one hundred and twenty eight characters or an instagram post. That doesn't engage the other side. What would you say are the most interesting parts of all these layers that you're parsing on this story. I think the most interesting part of the story is won her second statement essentially told you. I have not handled being a world champion. Very well in she says in her second statement that this has been going back to twenty eighteen. What she's really saying. Is i'm not doing well here and i think that part is very big deal because that is the story right. The story has changed from whether she handled it. Well to whether she'd get into whether the grand slam board overreached whether it didn't simply because this became a fight but the real conversation of what's taken place here is how is she doing. How's she doing in. It doesn't sound like she's doing very well in terms of what it takes the price of fame. Wanna we wanna be you. Are you sure you wanna be her or do you just want bank account. And so there's that. I thought that was really really important. I think the other piece of this. That's extremely important. As well is the fundamental question of all of this. Winter is when we talk about change. You talk about performing you. Talk about who has power is it time. And i'm i don't agree that it is but is it. A professional athletes responsibility to be responsible to the public through interview sessions right. I mean this is the other thing do we wanna do press or not. I think that's one thing that miami ozak really did sort of underestimate the backlash and of course the third thing that i think the most important is what the hell with a grand slams doing. I mean they didn't just say hey. We're gonna have a problem with this tournament. They decided so roland garros called wimbledon. Who called the us open. Who called the australian open and said we're gonna crush everybody. This isn't just phenomena Every tennis player wants to cross as. Here's what's coming that. That is a disproportionate response. Big time especially in this in this timeframe open. I understand it. Howard that's exactly how the system protects works. Absolutely that's how power works and they went out and said okay. You wanna fight. We're gonna fight and let's take this. Let's just pull this back one. Quick second okay. I only soccer one of the reasons why she wasn't getting a great deal of compassion for this is because all of this is taking place at the same time she and i think the wall street journal had announced that a story that she had earned fifty five million dollars in endorsements so the argument has been well. How how hurt can you be. How upset can you be about your station when you're pulling it when you're on every magazine cover in the country in the world right so there's that question and i think that when you put those two side by side with the grand slams are also doing is saying okay. Who are you without us. Do you have that fifty five million endorsements without these grand slams the any. I don't know how many hardcore tennis fans out there in your audience. But this is the sport you can play charleston and you can play belgrade. You can play parma all you want but if you don't perform at the grand slams you're not part of this work and so what they what they were really saying. How valuable are you without us. Just went nuclear. As a first option. I get that though. Howard because in the day of player empowerment after a decade of what. She's been watching growing up watching in basketball power of brand and all that stuff her and the media half the. I'm sorry the media and these grand slams have to stomp her out in order to keep all of their power and their interest they'll file it under the consumer the customer the fan but really. It's just the money exerting its will on twenty three year old. And what i don't understand is when you're talking about this. You're talking about people siding with her. Why wouldn't they side with a champion twenty three years old asking for compassion for mental illnesses four institutions gang up on her because she says i'm uncomfortable with all your questions people don't.

Because didn't know kobe doesn't do that. It was not to be nice. That's right kobe not do that. And so that was a funny back and forth. We will get back to some of the funnier things that happened this weekend. In the second but one of the things that was not funny howard. Brian is here to talk to us about. I thought it was the most interesting story of the weekend because of the variables involved and there were many of them. But i believe Rob parker howard and thank you for joining us. Wrote this for deadspin before asaka gave voice to the mental frailties and the mental illness stuff. But this is what he wrote and it is indicative of a lot of people were thinking at the time. Naomi osaka is wrong. Her boycott of the media at the french open is misguided worse. It's downright unprofessional. Tennis superstars seriously dealing with mental health issue as she announced on social media before the tournament she should have bowed out gracefully from the event taken time for herself fans would have been disappointed but understood but to claim she can do everything else but just can't talk to the media is bogus bravo to the four grand slam tournaments who issue though soccer both a fine and a stern warning for her behavior. The grand slam tournaments also said if she continued to not talk to the media she could be subject to escalating punishment including disqualification. And he goes on here. Many fans will side with osaka issued. A warning i'm sorry. So he goes on here and the attack on the media says it's so wrong and dumb. The media's there for fans most media members are just trying to job. It's not about us. But i think that the real issue when i said During this weekend. As but i felt like she did not handle this. Well i think it was simply in terms of tactics. I think that you have to go to the tournament and you have to at least give the tournament the opportunity to do their ridiculous overreach that they ended up doing to you so at least you would have been on the the you would have had the tactical advantage by saying. I went to the tournament. I talk to the tournament before this thing even began and they pretty much told me to shut up and play if that were the case then. I think that this would have been a very very different story. But i think that one of the big issues here was how you do this. Or we're going to show you who's boss and i think that i mean it Robin i or cool and everything. But i gotta say bravo to to the tournament for having four grand slams gang up on her at once come on. Billie jean king is even saying you have to be professional in this instance. But she's from another time and to hear a pioneer of that sort. Say you gotta be professional in that instance.
