Biden Calls for New York Governor to Resign

"Tonight. The president has joined the chorus of voices from both parties calling on longtime political ally and new york governor andrew. Cuomo to step down after today's explosive report from that state's attorney general that ag report alleged cuomo sexually harassed eleven women including a state trooper calling on him to resign. Yes do you think he should be prosecuted. What i said was if the investigation attorney general concluded that the allegations are correct. That back in march i would recommend he resign. That's what i'm doing today. By is just one of many democratic politicians in federal state and local positions now say cuomo can no longer remain in office. State attorney general letitia. James issued her report following a five month long civil investigation. The one hundred sixty five page document paint a damning portrait of unwelcome and inappropriate behavior governor cuomo sexually harass current and former state employees in violation of both federal and state laws. The independent investigation found that governor cuomo sexually harassed multiple women many of whom were young women by engaging an unwanted groping kisses hugging and by making inappropriate comments. The governor and his senior team took actions to retaliate against at least one former employees for coming forward with our story. Her truth and governor cuomo's administration fostered a toxic workplace that enabled harassment and created a hostile work environment. Were staffers did not feel comfortable coming forward with complaints about sexual harassment. Due to a climate of fear and given the power dynamics the investigation was launched after multiple. Women accused cuomo earlier this year of unwelcome personal comments or physical contact.

How to Be a Master Dater With Matthew Hussey

"Think life is hard and i like helping people feel less lonely in the process whether it's because they're single and they wanna be with someone but they have met anyone yet which can be really hot or whether they're just going through difficult emotional issues and challenges in their lives and i've built a career on putting out my ideas online videos and i'm really more than i wanna find someone relationship. I want to help someone be less lonely in life. Because i don't see them as the same thing. We are the epidemic of loneliness right. Now right it's gotten even worse probably during the pennock so less lonely but when a backup from though because you started working with men initially right and then you start working with women at such a young age just thinking about. What was it what you're like. Oh i can help these women. What were the questions that you were like. I got this. i'll tell you. His gave me some early conference. I was working with a law of men. I it was like taking a three year period. It was close to ten thousand men. I worked with and i. I got to the point where i realized well this women were asking me. Can you do the same thing for us. Because they were hearing about me. And at the time i thought i don't know i don't know you buy do no guys. I know myself. And i've learned quite a lot about human dynamics at that point so i said i could talk to you about guys and they were like great like this. Let's do that. We don't need to know about us. We wanna know about men. The first thing i did was i actually picked up some major books that were written for women in their dating lives and that actually gave me confidence to bring so by the rules are what will you read that it was. One of them was. The role of roles of them was the roles. I i suppose. I was interested to learn that time that that was kind of seminal book by the had been out there for some time and was huge bestseller and was interested in in the lessons from that and in all sorts of things. I was reading that book. There were just a lot of things that i thought. That doesn't feel true to

2021 NBA Free Agency: Bulls Strike Fast With Deals for Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso

"Thing long term on the bulls. I'm thinking that they might have one free agency yesterday. Because i love the lonzo signing. I love the caruso signing for them. Billy donovan is building a culture. They're the guys that can play with. Zach levine and don't forget they. They added nick which nicola which last last season the deadline the bulls are trying to make the playoffs and much like we've talked about that. The league is better when the knicks are pretty good or good. I still think the same thing from the bull standpoint as well chicago matters so and by the way we've got a couple of things we've got a cup. I mean man. There's a lot of breaking news. Just happening right now. So here's the deal. Woge breaks the story steph. Curry agrees four year. Deal two hundred fifty million dollar contract extension with the warriors so steph curry will remain a warrior for the rest of his career which is fantastic news.

Is There a Climate Crisis?

"The green new deal implies number one that we have climate emergency climate crisis that we have twelve years by which to act. And the clock's ticking. I think we're down to just a little over ten years now. Another one of these tipping points and by the way in the book i trace the first climate tipping point to eighteen sixty four where we were warned of climatic excess unless we did something so these tipping points have been around for centuries literally but the green new deal even if we faced a climate emergency. They claim which we don't. We don't even face really measurable climate implants by mankind. I mean that's the thing is hundreds of factors that influence the climate. You can't distinguish him. From natural variability. we probably warmer during the period. When jesus was on earth with when during the time jesus christ was born and medieval warming period. We were probably warmer according to peer reviewed studies waiting till the world's end around that time in the middle ages red that what do you mean by end. Didn't they have some kind of a climate disaster wiped out the population actually Maybe not because here we are. I gotta tell you. I remember hearing this kind of stuff in the eighties in college these predictions. That were just you know really dire predictions and then time would pass. Nothing would happen and nobody would mention it again. So you do get a little bit like the boy crying wolf but what you just said to me. The most important piece is that no matter what the weather is doing You're saying that it's simply not a fact that human activity is the main cause. So what a lot of these people are screaming about. They make it sound like. We're all doing something that we could change. And that would solve the problem and we. We don't know that so they're asking us to spend many many billions trillions of dollars to do something without a clear outcome. Isn't that really the main point

Mac at target which i think is fascinating. I'm so curious to see how that is received the community. Because i remember meeting with an a target executive like for this project a couple years ago and she was talking about. You know they're trying to make target like a more fun place to shop for what the big thing was. That was the big concern that we both landed on that we were talking about a lot lighting interesting. It was wasn't like glamorous glamorous but also conducive to that feeling of like you know when you go into like you could pop in there before a night out and you feel like you're getting ready there like a boudoir sensibility to the light right. How Dak's Shoulder Injury Affects Status for Preseason

"To another and that is with the dallas cowboys because just do sleeps. We're gonna see the cowboys. And the steelers in the hall of fame game says preseason games get underway. We didn't have any preseason games last year. And so we do get them this year and so cowboys and steelers. It is but in terms of injuries. Dak prescott has that letitia strain in his throwing shoulder which is essentially a muscle strain but nonetheless part he has not thrown since we've learned of this injury so he isn't thrown in centrally a week and so is there any reason to think that we will see him in the preseason not only on thursday but all members. It's the second year in this offense with mike mccarthy and he's only played five games in the last calendar year. What are your thoughts. I think that we do see dag because he has a knocked. The rust off. I think we seem in a limited capacity. I think he's gonna you know have some handing the ball off. Maybe a couple of throws down the field and he's going to get up out of there. You're talking about for the spring game. You're talking about in preseason totally. I think you see a little bit. You have to kind of get his feet underneath. He has confidence and he has to get that muscle memory muscle endurance and only happens by playing. Live action right because when you when things are scripted on in practice a real reaction kind of understand especially when you get the week to week. Three people don't realize you start understanding tennessee's and appears in which you're planning he start playing to the payers tendencies. You also real natural. I don't know what the hell's going on what they're doing. What this guy does now. When you go practice you know these guys who blitzer all the time right. you know. this guy is guy. I'm pretty happy. I wasn't expecting to medal. I came out here in. Just try to do a good beam set to bring the topic of mental health. I think it should be talked about a lot more especially with athletes. We could kind of speak for ourselves but at the end of the day we're not just entertainment where humans and their things going on behind the scenes that were also trying to juggle with as well on top of sports. Why Investing Isn't Quick, Easy Money With Financial Advisor Ramit Sethi

"Let me start off with what happened with my first investments. So here it is. It's around nine hundred ninety nine two thousand. Everybody thinks they're tech genius. You put money in any stock. It goes up twenty six percent the next day. So what do i do. I take my college scholarship money. And i put some of it in the stock market thinking. This is twenty percents guarantee and every day. It's going up and down but mostly was there massive euphoria. I wasn't focused. Yes yes everybody was. Everybody believed there are genius so in a bull market. Everybody believes their genius. And they all say the same phrase. This time it's different. It's such a funny phrase that in the investment world people make fun of it. It's a there mocked because it's never different it's actually the same thing bubbles expand But over time they mathematically cannot continue so here we have people making millions of dollars who would otherwise be working in a parking garage and they are giving stock tips out and telling everybody you gotta get into this j. d. s. You this you know all kinds of stuff. So i take my college scholarship money. Put it in the market. And i very quickly lose half the money because of the crash. Yeah or because of the crash and so what happens is i realized. Oh my god. I'm not as smart as i thought. It's not easy to become a millionaire through investing in two weeks and so here is where there was a pivotal moment one. I could have doubled down. And said i just picked the wrong stock. Let me pick another stock. This is very similar to what you here. with people. In the crypto world well my investment quote investment dropped fifty percent. But you know. I gotta do this coin or coins etc. What i chose to do is go different. Say you know what. I don't think i'm that smart about investing and i actually wanna learn how fundamental basic investing works so things like law low-cost long-term things like reading about john vogels philosophy etc. And i started to learn about it. And i realized you can spend your entire life trying to trade but traders hardly ever make money over the long term if we were gonna define trade timing the mark. Yeah it's like. I understand this stock it's undervalued. Yeah i'm gonna bikes. I know it's going. And i'm gonna do it short-term right so i'm going to create this narrative that ooh this stock look at the trading. Look at the chart and i'm going to try to make quick money in in four weeks. Everybody now know somebody who trades those people almost all lose

Realtor George Tremis on How to Select The Right Team Members

"Now you've got people working with you in your team so tell me about How you select people. And what are you seeing. Someone that gives you a sense. They're gonna work out while. I think the first most important thing is is understanding one if they're good fit for the team in terms of our philosophy how we operate a we engage with our clients on engaged in the industry as for second line. Is you know that. Like i wanna make sure that the right fit. But how do you actually figure that out. It's a good question. I think is just about engaging with somebody one on one and seeing what their interests are there. Philosophies are their mindset you know we have some commonalities so for example if i told you Td jakes or less brown. You know maybe those names ring a bell with you. I'll go with more mainstream. Light tony robbins. So if you're somebody who who follows throws wants to personally develop. Ma none of that personal development dreadfully. You know that if your personal development neither his name's they'll know it right away exactly exactly right. So i figured that. There's some commonality there in terms of philosophy in mindset which is super important. I find that whether it's the brokerage or the team we have a very definitive mindset. And we're we're like in our thinking and how we approach business for the most part and the other thing too is. I'm looking for work ethic. Is well because nothing works if you don't work it so we all strive to top performers on the team so if somebody's not looking to be a top performer whether their engagement part-time or full-time than i don't know if it would fit with the vibe in the culture of the team that makes perfect sense tell me about dough name names but tell me about one of the people you brought on board and you're looking at them and going good good good good good. This is an area. They need to improve in how you got them to actually improve area. Interesting question I think the most prevalent area where people can improve is typically revert to his cold calling. Which i don't like to call cold calling but rather prospect colleagues so no call should be outright cold whether it's referral whether something generated through social media whether you you sent out communications before actually picking up the phone. I find that entire process. The entire philosophy is where most people have a lot of potential improvement. And where i find. I engage with my team to a great degree. Right just right from the opening of a call or or you know. The expression people always tend to talk themselves out of the sale. They just talk and talk and talk

And i think so. Many people relate to that. We think that we're the only one who doesn't know our purpose. Sometimes like it seems everyone knows but me. And i think that's because it's kind of painted for us like right in school that your purpose is what you do and just kind of along the lines just growing and all of that. I've learned it's not what you do. It's like who you are and who you want to be so instead of asking. Like what do i want to do. That is such a hard question. And i don't know i think there's few people who can find career that's like this job is my purpose right but like who you are in. That job feels more of a like year living in your purpose. Equity Is About More Than Just Hiring Diverse Employees

"Renee welcome to washington post live. Hi jonathan. I'm so happy to be here with you. Well i'm happy to have you here. You have consulted for some of the biggest companies in the country and every big company is focused on diversity inclusion and equity or at least. They say they are so. How do you measure the inclusion health of company. What are you look for when you look at well. of course. Most people think demographics in the numbers. And certainly that is very important to look at so you can see sort of where the gaps are but what it's harder to measure is the sense of belonging and inclusion and the ability for people to share their perspectives and have opportunity and to move up and to be compensated so the entire kind of employee life cycle has to be evaluated for you to really know. Is their health. One thing at netflix to that we think about is who speaks and who doesn't in who gets descent and who doesn't those are all aspects of health. That's a really interesting that this focus on sense sense of belonging so to that point of as particularly at netflix who speaks. And and who doesn't who was the was it you. Were you the person who said that. It means something and it might mean something more than you think when you're in a meeting and there's that one person or two people who don't speak ashore and i'm sure i'm not the only person who said who said that the voices so much of the work which to do around inclusion is to remember that their voices we have never heard there are perspectives. That have never been really given air. And if any company wants to move into the future and be resilient incompetent incapable in and relevant right and to serve their constituencies in customers. They've got to be on this journey of inclusion because it's where the innovation is is where the creativity is. It's where the excitement is in so for us as a company. Amine it's easy were trying to entertain the world. We dare not try to do that without getting many more voices than both the entertainment and the tech industries have had over since their inception wife. Frankly

Does Education Affect Cognitive Labor Patterns in Relationships? With Allison Daminger, PhD Candidate

"I've done to lick related studies on the same topic in one. I just looked at couples who both had college degrees and then in a more recent study. I've looked at a wider range of educational backgrounds and had all these about how education might shape cognitive labor patterns. And i thought you know. Maybe the highly educated folks might be more equitable. Because in general generally all-terrian leafs are higher among those other college degree. I'm still looking through that data so far haven't found a ton of nuance seems to be that whether or not you have a bachelor's degree the gendered patterns where women do more of this work seems to hold there's some nuances and differences when it comes to things like physical chores. There's also found that folks who didn't have a college degree seemed to be a little bit more okay calling certain things men's work versus women's work whereas those were dedicated. Where a little bit more careful not to use those sort of gender stereotypes of the actual patterns didn't seem all that different by class for educational

"second thought" Discussed on Around the Horn

"By four so your ankle bones connected to your calf bone last i checked your caps muscle technically two of them but but according to colts owner jim irsay the calf issue that quarterback andrew luck has been suffering from since april is quote a bone issue a little bone. He said that on sirius x._m. Yesterday yesterday good news is according to sources despite sitting out the last ten practices luck is throwing the absolute account of the ball all right. What do you make of dr irsays revelatory aleatory diagnosis and is it moving the needle on your personal panic meter his direct quote. It's a bone. It's a small little bone that was direct world like he's playing the game vibration in trying to get that little bone before buzz and the guys raise the red nose. No it's an it was his achilles. There's no bone down. There is in his footage his legs something something else he's practiced three times training camp none none fully <hes>. I think people have no idea what's going on now. That certainly seems like speaking to people up no idea what's going on most time. What are you paid. What do you make of this new news about. Luck segues era well. If it's a bone it's either bruised or broken those of things that can happen to it so neither one of them may be that. It's good for look going forward. This is reminiscent of two thousand seventeen when we went through the shoulder problems in the football and he didn't really play. I don't know here's a team pick to win the division. Whether you're quarterbacks even going to be on the field to start it. Is we know there's little bones and your ankle and your feet. I don't believe there are little bones in your legs. So how how are we reconcile in the in the bones what's going on air saying the move the injury around until the fans are not worried at all. I think that if you go back twenty two thousand seventeen when he missed the whole season he had a career high q._b._r. In two thousand eighteen right so he can come back from injury pretty well and as you mentioned there has been throwing the heck out of the ball which is such in andrew luck statement and so once he gets his you know his legs under him then. I think they're not going to have an issue. You just need to know what the problem is and have some sort of progress. Here's the problem frank once he gets his legs under him when how doing one to what part of him that's currently ailing him. What do you think of this new diagnosis frank yeah and it's one thing into miss preseason games and quarterback healthy quarterbacks do that. He's not out there for practices. It's been ten in a row. It's going to be more than that and i can only imagine frank reich an andrew luck sitting back accent wiser owner going on radio calling it appoint. Somebody tells me that's what the injuries but they've been hiding a calf injury to put it is a phone and that's troublesome to update me about that game. "I mean the new windsor certified about. I did before he sit. Sit out the tweet. <hes> look on ebay this morning. I found one that was large. The jacksonville jaguars on it and the other one had to philadelphia eagles. I was on and fifteen hundred twenty. I think in if antonio's actually wanted to do this he can find on ebay and they promised to him thereby tuesday so i think that's a mistake and the n._f._l. Allowed in there was no shipping costs four and fell allowed this to happen and that's unfortunate if the n._f._l. Hey closed that loophole. We wouldn't be in this situation but i do think that antonio brown is actually enjoying all the attention as he always says. I don't know if it's a loophole considering that anybody he also uses helmet is not true. Old is allowed to use it. What do you page nice research. We know he's got a painter. That can do the paint job on those is he. What do you think conspiracy nothing at all. Is this a good solution. I was going to say i love the fact of envisioning antonio brown on craigslist saying air advantage helmet made after two thousand now. I just wanna see woody page on ebay. They had like he did all the assistant probably from what i read though that shut a statement that they put out. They said it with the padding in the old helmets. That's no longer useful. That's been improved and you can't use that anymore. So why not use the design that antonio brown's want brown wants with the new padding. I don't see how that's a big problem. I do believe though that if you want to play into bills theory here they could have done this behind the scenes. Antonio brown may be could have said hey. What's the problem with my helmet. Can we fix this and if he's bringing all this extra attention to himself. Maybe it's for his brand or maybe it's to distract people from his feet either way. It seems like as we look at at the potential solutions seems like it's been a bigger problem than it would have been have. They handled it behind. Okay first of all <hes> you know. You didn't get away with that narrative. That's retroactively. Were you think i i have to ask you this to me. Makes antonio brown looked terrible and it makes the raiders look like a mess. Why in the world would they do do this on purpose just for the sake of hard knocks which doesn't even benefit them it helps. The league does seem to be a little life imitating art but i would say this. You know bill mentioned in aaron rodgers tom brady. They knew for a year that they were going to have to switch helmets so did antonio brown. So why is he acting like now it surprising he he knew about this. This is something that should should have been corrected but remember antonio around this guy and his last game with pittsburgh was inactive and left the game at halftime then he shows up in oakland in a hot air balloon. Look so everything about him. It's all about drawing attention to himself and then he has his whole disaster with the frostbite. The oakland raiders right now look terrible in the pittsburgh steelers. It's almost almost like they're sitting back saying hey we told you so. The guy is a tremendous town no question about it but right now. He's a major headache all right. Let's put on our tin foil. Helmets hat's any chance you guys think. The helmet hold out is just a way to divert attention from those frostbitten feet and what could be a lengthy absence bill. That's a terrible way to start his tenure think he's covering. I'm for that. Well look how he ended his tenure in pittsburgh walking off the field leaving his team. Yeah i think totally buying into this. He's trying to buy more time for his feet to get healthy he's trying to he's trying to miss training. You don't wanna you don't want to go to a training camp for the first game. I think he's just trying to get a yeah. That's what i'm thinking. I mean he did it in pittsburgh. He's doing it again in oakland. This is all about him against authority..

"About real. Oh cats oh go go. Go go go ready. It didn't work antonio. Brown is expected back at raiders camp today after losing his grievance with the n._f._l. To wear a helmet no longer approved by league rules browns helmet not banned because of tight but rather age the models currently using his more than ten years old tweeted mr big chess. I'm looking for a shut air advantage adult large orange helmet that was manufactured in two thousand ten or after in exchange all trade assigned practice worn raiders helmet his agent drew rosenhaus suggested today they might might have found one all right bill. Does this seem like an almost enough answer. What plagues brown and the raiders restored the records did not hear me singing. The cubs fight song trying to gain a figure pandering. Nothing okay well anyway. Everybody looks bad here. Everybody looks lame. So are you telling me antonio brown that tom brady and give a hell when he's worn for four super bowl championships and you can't give up your helmet. That's ridiculous. Erogenous can do it and you can't do it. That's ridiculous the league it also looks laying in that the way the rules written apparently he's going to be allowed. If you can find a helmet he's gonna be allowed to wear a helmet that is not as safe as as the as the as the optimal helmets are because the league doesn't have a rule against that so the legal week <hes> tony brown loops week saw makes me think it's like this. The part of the hard knocks narrative antonio brown just trying to get attention to himself. The whole thing looks wing conspiracy theory. All about hard knocks what he paid. What about you. I think the company that made that helmet is making getting better helmets now with a different inside material. Why don't they get together and solve this issue..

"Edwards is nice story, but there's just not enough attention out there. That's why this game is gonna mean so much, not just for the teams, but for the entire league. Well, I think you're right, and and I hope you're right at them, but in terms of the league in the playoff, I think the fact that Stanford has to turn around from a night game on the road and then go play at Notre Dame two time zones away three times owns away whatever time it is in Indiana next week. That that to me is really problematic for Stanford and and maybe Stanford at twelve and one you'll beating Washington would make the playoff. Anyway. I think that's way premature. But you know, that's what we talk about. September actually wonder, do you think it's more important for them to win this game or next week's game? If they get to twelve and one. Probably next week, but if they don't win this week, I guess if they don't win next week and then beat Washington, we're presuming Oregon's going to lose to along the way and Stanford with within win the division anyway. But. Yeah, that's a good question. Nationally. A profile nationally, probably winning next week is more important. I just think it's really problematic to go on the road two straight weeks against tough competition. And the second one is a long trip. I think that's a lot to ask and then have Utah the following week at home. So it's really tough stretch for Stanford. My extra point. Again, I'm depending on the good work of our stats and info nerds pointing out this week, speaking of Notre Dame that when they traveled to Wake Forest on Saturday, wake will be putting its losing streak against AP top ten teams on the line. Wake Forest has lost fifty eight consecutive games against top ten opponents dating back to nineteen forty six was the last time that wake beat a top ten opponent. They upset number four, Tennessee, nineteen six. And the only reason that that. I wanted to talk about this was just so I could talk about the Wake Forest coach, Ryan p head Walker. Yes. Yes. One of my favorite college football anecdotes of all time is the story about head Walker recruiting at Wake Forest after the war, and he would take freshman and give them a tour of the Duke campus because it was so much prettier than. And then when they would arrive at the Wake Forest campus, they would go wait a minute. Where are we? And he said, all of that other campuses for the seniors. This is the campus for the freshmen. You gotta love a guy like not to mention his name was head, but just anybody could pull that off. And that speaks to maybe recruiting being not quite as sophisticated in nineteen in the nineteen forties as it is today about. And by the way, there's an outstanding biography. Written by Tucker Mitchell who's a Wake Forest along, and it's p. head with an exclamation point. That's the title book and it's always easy. And by the way, my brother, the Wake Forest grad was going to be angry at you for mentioning that stat until you said that the last time they beat a top ten team was mama mama, and now he'll bring hill probably bring that up every day. And that was quite an upset because Tennessee never left the top ten that year did not lose another game until the bowl game. So big win for wake. Maybe we'll see another one tomorrow at noon on ABC. It's noon eastern lot of games tomorrow we'll some of us will be at the stadium. The rest of us will be at Sony stadium as well. I for Ryan McGee for Adam written Bergen our producer, Josh macrey. "Virginia Tech goes to now I've said this on this show zillion times I grew up in the triangle. I grew tobacco road and I watched a lot of Duke football in person and sometimes by choice and sometimes not. And it was so bad for so long that having listen just this mind from from two thousand through two. Thousand seventy eight years. Prior to David clock cocoa arriving, they won ten games and eight years, and now they've made a ballgame. I believe five out of the last six years. They had maybe the greatest night in the history of the program that was a loss, which was when they made a New Year's Eve ball game down at Lanta and loss in the shootout. But I'll never forget going and sitting with David cut cliff who was quarterbacks coach when I was a student at Tennessee and cut have been at Duke for several years and head. The success in his name was being mentioned for some very high profile jobs around the country. And he looked at me and he said, why would I leave here? He said, I love being here. I love building something, and he goes, man if I win eight games a year at so. And so they will run me out of town like the digital miss. If I went eight games year at Duke when I retire, they're gonna have a statue me out in front of the stadium and they should put a statue cliff out in front of the state. Listen, he loves that job. And I love watching him love that job, and I'm telling you, if you win at Duke, did it is you've done something special and he's doing it on a consistent basis. Yeah, that's terrific. And it is been a lot of it has been a lot of fun to see him sixteen, and even the shot and Freud of seeing him succeed as ole miss floundered. It's been even better Adam. You're so bucks. More coaches need to go through that experience at ole miss to get the perspective that cut has now Duke and maybe not just be looking for the other job or the next job. All the time of all actually go back to that Stanford Oregon game. I also pick Stanford as did many of our colleagues on ESPN for this week, but I think it such an important game for the Pac twelve in multiple ways. I was did a show last night Pac twelve today on Sirius XM. Last night we were talking about just the struggle for the league to get attention. Well, here's the chance for you know, it's the big Saturday night game game days. Their first time the gave been Oregon since I believe two thousand fifteen or two thousand sixteen, and it's not only a game with two undefeated teams and teams that may be in the mix for the Pac, twelve championship, but you have star power you really do, and it's not USC. That's been the one school out out west. It's been able to generate real star power for its. Players, especially its quarterbacks and running backs. But in this game, you have Bryce love who's the Heisman runner up trying to get going this season, which has been a slow start for him. And then you have Justin Herbert and I encourage everybody to read at shops piece on ESPN dot com. About Justin, Herbert has video that goes with it did when he was up in Eugene. And this guy is a star that I think people should realize around the country, and we'll have a chance to finally see against a really good Stanford defense speaking the Lance Anderson, the defensive coordinator at Stanford this week, and he sees similarities between Herbert and Mitch Trubisky who's down the bears quarterback here, and Chicago who'd been in North Carolina. So they face each other in the sun bowl years ago. So I just think this is a really big opportunity to have a good fun competitive game. And then for these stars out west to show what they have or it'll be really easy for everybody to stop, paying attention to the Pac twelve after it's lost to washing Washington, losing to Auburn, USC str-. Ogling UCLA struggling Zona and Khalil Tate. Not really going anywhere. Herm..

"Classic he'll go at Notre Dame. Yeah. No, no. It's and listen to can't top golden helmet and and always of love. But I'll say this about army and navy in the air force to is that particular army navy. It's the classic uniform, but when they decide to step out of the box and when they decide to do something special, it is off the chart. And when when they've done their tribute uniforms in navy, had the personalized hand painted helmets a couple of years ago, air force went, would those just completely tricked out fighter pilot helmet to win when they when the academy's decide to step out of their traditional box that we love so much. That's my favorite alternate uniforms and it's not just because I love America. It's because this just good looking stuff. Now as far as classics go. Ivan, we just had a link to conversation about this not too long ago with a big anniversary for college football coming up next year. But for me and listen, I'm a south eastern east coast guy. There was nothing better as a kid. Then nothing made color television look better than the USC UCLA game and both games in full color and. Listen for all chip Kelly's issues that UCLA. In for all his dodging of questions when you're trying to interview the man. When I asked the question about, so are you going to go complete? Oregon just trick out uniforms at UCLA. His head snapped up and he made direct contact and he said, not a chance he goes, there's a lot of things that need fixing UCLA. The uniforms will never be one of them. And I thought that that spoke a lot, although they have gone from the the navy script UCLA on the helmets to the lighter script for whatever. That's that's. And that's when Penn State right Adam couple years ago, Penn State as tricked out as they would ever go is what they put the stripe on it and change the numbers a little bit. And it was all based on something they did in the fifties and people still completely flipped. Yeah, and Bill Bryant, but the names on the jerseys, even after honor those guys who stuck it out through the twenty eleven situation that that created a reaction. You're always going to get that Penn State. About ten years ago, Penn State had white, the outline, the colors and white. Remember that that was that was a big thing. But anyway. Yeah. I'm just glad Ryan had that question. Absolutely. But I've Euromonitor Stanford going against the school that really revolutionized uniforms in the first place. I don't believe we've gotten a pick from you cardinal or ducts this weekend. Oh, I think Stanford will win even though it's been a long time since they've won three in a row against Oregon, but the way the Stanford defense has played against tough competition, I think can overcome even the talents of very good quarterback at Osborne. Justin. The. Organised three and haven't really played anybody. And the Stanford defenses yet to give up more than ten points to me. I think that's sufficient to overcome the very difficult prospect of playing night game in autzen. That's the toughest place to play. I think in the Pac twelve, but. Stanford, we'll win. It is on the record. Keep the questions coming. Feel free to give Ivan a hard time. If his prediction does not pan out, just make sure you use the hashtag walk on and please if you haven't already done so subscribe rate end review our show in apple podcasts. The extra point. I can't imagine anybody giving me a hard time about anything really completely undeserved extra points. Yes, it's where we give you the full flowering of our intelligence. So naturally we keep it brief Ryan. What do you have. Well, I have one of my favorite people in college football, and that is David Cook live at Duke and Duke is three and they defeated army northwestern and Baylor, and they have done it basically being held together by athletic tape and bailing wire. They started the Baylor game with Bob starters, either injured or probably not gonna play loss to more during the game who did not return, and they still won forty two, twenty seven at Baylor. And now they have North Carolina central coming into town, and this is all building toward the game a little more that a week from now which is win..

"College football season get a taste of fans Ville this fall during a college football game near you. Dr Pepper. The official drink of fans Ville. Grab some today hashtag walk on 's as promised. Dan as delivered by you. The walk on questions. We'll answer them as best. We can't, Josh. What do you have first questions for you? Ivan, it's from Scott s. m. w. ninety nine seventeen. Eleven Scott's. Yeah. Yeah. Louisville has already given Bobby portrayal an encore and he may now be wearing out his welcome. Is there any chance that the cardinals would consider giving another encore this time to Charlie strong. That's an interesting question. Charlie strong, of course, back at USF back at USF, but at USF and. I feel well, let me put it this way. My biggest concern about your premise is that Tom, Jerry is not the in movable anymore, and it was Tom Jurij who hired Bobby between the first time and the second time it's Tom Jurij. You hired Charlie strong. I would think. That. Loyd ill at this point would say, well, we tried bringing somebody back and it didn't really work out in long run under your premise. So why would we do that again? And. In that case, I think Louisville would look elsewhere where they going to look. I don't know. I really haven't given it any thought is obviously going to be a lot of up and coming smart young coaches, but I would, I think, and this may be an easy answer to to give, but I just don't see them going back to Charlie strong. Fair enough. Adam. Next one is for you from NYC pigeon young sang and y sees a preferred walk on how much impact do position coaches have on the way a team plays. It looks like Michigan is struggling offensively since the arrival of pep Hamilton in twenty seventeen apparently has unique NFL style scheme. They had to ten win seasons prior to his arrival. Then when eight and five and are still struggling. Yeah, I don't think it's fair to put it all on Hamilton because I think the whole operation there has been a little convoluted just to give people an idea before this season. It was a couple years ago. It used to be split calling between jed fish and Tim, Tim drive. No fish took the past plays in though, took the run plays, and then pep Hamilton has been kind of the past play guy the last few years, but Dr. No. Was there last year and this year you have Jim mcelwain at Warrener and Jim Harbaugh it's a lot of different people involved in the playcalling operation. So yeah, I mean, you certainly Hamilton as a coordinator and he's responsible in part for an offense, not coming along or quarterbacks, not being developed, but I just think it goes a little bit beyond his jurisdiction and ultimately followed in Jim Harbaugh lap. I mean, this guy was a great quarterback as a player. He's developed quarterbacks throughout his career as a car. College and pro coach, they've had good offenses in the past at his previous stops, and I think they're just again still trying to find that identity right now now with a new quarterback and shape Patterson. So I, this will be a year where you can really evaluate whether pep Hamilton is helping or maybe hurting the cause because if things don't work out this year on offense, I think they're going to have to take a hard look at everybody and decide where where do we want to go and who do we want really calling the shots. So I think partial responsibility is fair, but complete responsibility. When you have an offensive minded head coach, who by the way was a really good quarterback and develop quarterbacks before it shouldn't go on Hamilton shoulders alone. And finally, we go from one preferred walk onto another. This time drew Allen has the question. He's at the drew abide, and it's for you. Ryan drew says, there's been a rise obviously in new age uniforms with dozens of alternate combos and highlighter colors, but which team has your favorite class. Thicke Uni look. And which is your favorite new uniform look drew says for what it's worth. His personal choices for the new uniform is navy's dress whites. Well, with the.

"And honestly they need to, but that's, that's the long the long play on this is is more regulation, which is the last thing that any coaches are athletic director want. David Evans athletic directors spoke to the Maryland student government last week and was asked about whether there was video of this practice and he kind of had, you know, had to be a little bit diplomatic or political with the answer, but said, hey, we did not take video of the workout, but we will start taking videos of the conditioning and take video inside the weight room. And I think that's going to have to be maybe common practice around college football, especially, but maybe other sports as well as far as you know, is somebody watching everything to make sure that everyone's doing what they're supposed to be doing? I, you know, there may still be some video out there. I'll just say that, but there's no video from Maryland athletics of of the conditioning drills, but David Evans, telling the student government there that that's something that they're looking at doing in the future. Well, I can tell you this all these brand new, sparkling, multi billion dollar facilities, everyone's building. They have that built-in and every every time. Visitors facilities, these video guys that I know because of my video guy background as a student, they have pulled me aside and shown me cameras that are in meeting rooms and cameras during waiting rooms and cameras in the training rooms. And the reason is the Rijsel reason was accountability for the athletes. So the the player can't say we, yeah, coach, I never said Solan so well, yeah, you did. Here's video of our meeting or or coach. You never showed me so, and so, yeah, did here's video of our meeting or law did my work out like I supposed to know you didn't because we have the says, you didn't. That's why that was in place originally wasp being put into place. But in the new facilities, the the big brother factor is already built in. I think going forward, everybody's gonna have to go that. Well, that's that's mile. I wonder what with what Damon Evans Adam was saying that they have said is we need a record. Somebody's gonna actually watch this Gobert or we need a record in case something bad happens and we have a record to to see what happened. But whatever that's I think that's just the the, the big brother world is, is Ryan put it that we live in when we come back, your not video questions, walk on using the hashtag, walk on as well as our extra points, and we'll be right back pedal everybody. "They would like to redact regarding Jordan's death. The board is saying they don't know the results themselves so they won't until today. And if they do plan to share the findings with the family. Atom, I guess. Keep coming to you on this big tents, big ten stories, but there's really all we can do is I mean, what do you expect to hear from this report? First news, but the kind of news, sir. Well, there was confirmation late last night that the report was turned over to Jordan McNair family. But that only came after the letter from his attorneys went public expressing disappointment that they hadn't heard anything from the regions as this report was being finalized and being prepared to be presented today to the entire board and then eventually to the public. So fortunately they are able to kind of look over the report before it goes public later today. My sense is from people that we've talked to cal- Heather Dench is there reporting for us today in the state of Maryland that it's going to be more of what we heard in July that there were some steaks made in the protocols of handling a heat related illness by the athlete, training staff, and and perhaps others. There was no emerged in a coal tub. There was no taking tractor. They may have had protocols for some things that were followed, but not everything, and certainly not something that became so serious. So quickly involving Jordan McNair. I don't believe they'll be eight any sort of personnel announcements today, but it'll be more of a comprehensive. Here's what we found, here's we talked to, and this is what people said is how people behaved during that day. That's going to be an important component. There's obviously the investigation going on into the entire program that doesn't seem to be wrapping up really imminently, but it could be in the next week or so. So yeah, I don't think there's going to be any. You know this person is out or this person is in or any of that at the end of today. But we'll see. It's been a very long process there. It's been a, I wouldn't say a very smooth process by anyone airland, but you will. We'll have some answers to a degree later on. Afternoon and had there will be reporting for us. There. Ryan, you talked a lot of people in this industry. Do you get any sense that that what has happened at Maryland. Has made a dent on college administrators in terms of how poorly Maryland has handled this and as a waken them to the there. But for the grace of God go. I part of this. No, I think that they are all monitoring very closely. They're all holding their breath and no one's really commenting on it because they're watching it, and they're kind of hoping it goes away. I mean, there really is a big part of that because and this came this story just now a think nationally has gotten some traction because when all of this was going on, we were still in the middle of Michigan state stuff. We're still in the middle of Ohio State stuff. We're still in the middle of all the summer and all that. And I think that a lot of people were just now becoming aware of it there. There was a really interesting piece that I read in Washington Post's about Maryland fans. Now, just the listen, Maryland fans, and this goes back to my ACC upbringing. They're all Maryland football fans always or kind of waiting on the other shoe to drop in in this situation with the store was about about, they're just kind of like this is just the latest Bo. Glow in, you know, why are we even doing this? And it's really, this is not what being in the big ten was supposed to be, and it's it's. It is a horrible, horrible situation. And now they have become this example for all the wrong reasons. But yeah, administrators watch this. And And I I think think that that. administered the last thing called football coaches want is for administrators, get involved in practice or to get involved in what they're doing day to day. And what I hear from coaches is when things like this happen Declan Sullivan on the video crew at Notre Dame. This situation. Other situations is, you You know. know, other people don't handle their business properly, then ends up making life a lot hard on everyone else because now administrators and board of trustees and all that are getting involved in how you run practice..

"I've always been a little torn about should we be really excited that big time football schools are given the little guys money or obviously this situation. But like it came up when the big ten was deciding whether or not to eliminate games with the in that you know they didn't want those games. They didn't think it was a. It was good for their athletes to be going up against the team with less scholarships. They didn't think it was good for the fans, but there is other side of it that it does benefit these other schools financially. And in some cases, it's a really cool opportunity for those kids at cookman to go into memorial stadium. I, I don't really know how to feel. I've been as you guys know a big person on scheduling better games around the country, but there's another side of it, which is what you guys are talking about? Well, I think if you're the big school, I'll give you one of these and I have a problem when schools are trying to squeeze two and three and right. But but listen, I grew up on small college campuses, so I didn't grow up in a world with ninety million dollar budgets. I grew up in a world with five million dollar budgets and not even that. And so you know, in there's a trickle down to this hour wrote a story last year. You know, I'll talk to the guys down at Mercer and Mercer last year ended up in this position where I think they played what Auburn and Alabama in the same year and reality was was that they're trying to build a program and I, let's take our losses and let's but we can pocket three million dollars or whatever it was for those two games. And the most central part was when I talked to the players and I was like, how do you feel about this idea of you? Gotta go to Bryant Denny and you've got to go on the planes, get your brains beaten, and they're all like a love it. They're like, what else? I would love to played there and now I have a chance to go there and play. I don't wanna get hurt and reality. Is that doesn't really happen a lot in those games anyway. So. So the point is is absolutely beneficial in the state of South Carolina. It's mandated by state law that Clemson has to rotate in South Carolina. They have to rotate through the citadel and firm and back in the day coastal Carolina because they're helping the idea say that you helped fund other programs in the state because we'd rather you keep that money in the state of South Carolina. Then go schedule a school from somewhere else and pump that money into another state. So there's absolutely benefits to it. I just I don't like it when to do it more than once. I'll give you one of those games that year when you start trying to squeeze too, in some cases three in a year. Now I got an issue. And that's a good point. These state legislature, I know I've heard that from Ohio State administrators in the passes to why they play MAC components as opposed to branching out farther geographically. My concern would only be the physical mismatch component and and and really the safety of the players because you know, there's a reason that the kid at Mercer isn't playing an Alabama and it's because he doesn't fit the, you know, the Nick Sabin checklist of hyphen weight among among other things. So you're going into that match up. Overmatched, but kids want it and they can come out of it holes. And I, I guess, you know, who am out of complain. So it's interesting and and it will be curious to see how thin cookman survives when they go to Lincoln, might be a little colder and Lincoln on October twenty seventh, and they tell him, but I promise you that it is. Yeah, we will see about that. Another piece of news and this is really more they prepare for the headlines later today. Maryland, the invested a board of regents at Maryland will announce the findings of its investigation into the death of Terrapins linemen. Jordan McNair later today, that announcement will come. The parents are Jordan McNair upset because they're they're not aware of any plans to inform them of either the status of report or to give them an opportunity to redact any information..

"This story is fascinating to me much more so than the endless and relatively baseless chatter about Jalen hurts and what he may or may not do it, Alabama, and that is the Auburn is had two players announced this week that they are transferring before the redshirt rule kicks in. They've had four players total this week. It was starting wide receiver. Nate Craig. Myers who has had four catches the season. One of them for touchdown and tied in Jalen Harris earlier this season defensive bag. John Broussard punter eight in Marshall. It did. I didn't extrapolate this out atom that the red shirt rule would force players to make this kind of the season before we four and. Week, four is this week and it makes me wonder what's going to happen next week as players have to make a decision. What do you think. What is this? Just the natural fall out of this rule? Yeah, and I didn't think about it either. I guess I thought that it would be more of a coach decision of when I'm gonna use guys to maybe preserve the year and have them have this year still count eligibility wise to have it for the next few years. But the players kind of taking it into their own hands and looking at the situation like, hey, this isn't working out for me here I could stay and maybe play sparingly and have the year lost eligibility wise. Or I could say I'm transferring and not lose the year eligibility. So yeah, I wasn't looking at it like that going into the year in talking to a lot of coaches at media days, and maybe that was my problem talking to more coaches about it than players, but they didn't mention that this would be something that they were kind of worried about, but maybe it is a start of a trend or maybe it's just any certain couple players at a high profile program with an offense. I dunno. About you guys just feels like it's kind of a weird place right now. I mean, auburn's offense. If you look at the Washington game, you look at the game, and those are two really talented defenses, but I wasn't blown away by Auburn, offensively in either game and don't really know where they're at offense right now. So I do wonder if it's an Auburn issue, but I wouldn't be surprised as well. Ivan, if it's something that kind of proliferates around the country. It's the, it's the beauty Ryan of of the unintended consequence or or at least the fact that none of us are smart enough to figure out how these rules are actually going to play out. But all of a sudden you've got a lot of late September early October drama that that we may not have had otherwise. Yeah, it's free agency and Gus malzahn. His comment was you're going to see a lot more of this in the next week..

"I'm glad you brought him up because I spoke with some Ohio State coaches about him before the game. You even a little bit with Gary Patterson leading up into the game with TCU last week, and the comment that I got from one of the Ohio State coaches, he's just getting started, and he's just a sophomore as you mentioned, guided they're really excited about a great competence excited about him in the cable cars to accept he's, he's a great complement to both of Nate mountain. May have to be that primary pass rusher if Bosa is out for the Penn State game, they're not gonna need both of this weekend's to lane, but they will need a pass rush next week as they go into state college to try to harass trace McSorley because we've seen what happens when McSorley has time, and this is still a young Buckeye secondary at certain positions. So this is a significant injury, but they're an area of strength for state overall that defensive line with the now clean shaven Larry Johnson or completely head shaven Larry Johnson and got to see him after the game. They're find defensive line coach going back to state college, but chase, young, big, big name to look at as he now probably has to carry that pass, rushing load against Penn State. I'd be surprised to see Nick boasts out there next week. Larry Johnson was a fixture on Joe Paterno staff at Penn State is what Adam is referring there. Ryan. I don't know how to break this to and and Adam hinted at it. But you told us before the show you were going to see Ohio State play this week. They're actually playing Penn State next week. They're playing to lane tomorrow. So you either got some bad info or you have a reason to go see how state play too late, and I can't wait to hear what that is. Well, I won't go. I'm working on a preview of the Penn State game the following. This is this is my gig now. I haven't. I go to the bad games the week before the good games to preview the good games. Does that make sense? I've seen a lot of there was a struggle to get that gig. Just see, you know. I was a late request for a credential. Surprisingly, it was approved quickly. I don't think that there was a lot of people. There was room and the press box for the two that what you're saying there was, I think I might have. I might have an entire road myself, but no, it's it's. But now suddenly. Yeses to lane. But this is a game without Bosa, and this is a game with urban Meyer on the sideline. And so I think there are more storylines maybe to a two lane game that there have ever been in a really long time. But the idea is, where are they mentally and and with the head coach coming back onto the sideline before, which is a giant football game. But I'll say this, they can get whatever happens with the Penn State game. Nick Bosa can probably take his time and rehab because it's in the Indiana, Minnesota Purdue. I mean, that's that's a winnable schedule for how state. So there's a chance to get him ready for the the annual November, big, ten push. Well, and our apologies of course to Willie Fritz as well as the two nieces and two nephews of mine who are two lane graduates. We saw and we tease because we love. All right. Moving on. Interesting..

"This is campus conversation. Now, here's your host, Ivan Mozelle. Yes, I am not. Peter burns as was promised in my apologies for that. It is Friday, September twenty first twenty eighteen. We are twenty four hours or so depending on when you download us from the bulk of week for got a little taste last night with temple drilling Tulsa, I've in MS l. here's the man, just said, welcome back to campus conversation. We actually have not just previews, but a lot of news to discuss. And when I say we, I mean fresh off his wilderness set lodge from another successful show of Marty and McGee. It would be which one is this? I guess it's McGee Ryan McGee as Paul finebaum calls me mardi Mckee. No, it's. It's if if us successful broadcasts, you mean we weren't cancelled as a Friday morning then yes, it was successful. Well, it is only eleven four eastern time. So let's give that a little time also from Adam unwritten Berg another great show on some network. Adam written barg. What's going on? Yeah, that is a hit show. Hey McGee. Are you guys ever going to auction any items off the set? Or can anyone get those as maybe birthday gifts at some point? Yes, sure. Dana. Yeah, I think a lot of it just came like from whatever your local homegoods, whatever. So yeah, I can hook you up just have to run down to the store. Okay. In all seriousness, who who was the wardrobe person on the show? That'd be us, I think, but you didn't like my Star Wars t. shirt. Well, I was just curious the, you know, the motif, the design, the thought process behind it this. So the set was designed by. I mean, we have set design people to use span and they did it in conjunction. No, no. I'm not making soap with a gun Atlanta and half. The stuff on our set is like from his house like we had to go by because when we moved to set the Charlotte, he's like, dude, this is from a house. I have to take this home. We're like, all right. Then I guess we're headed a Home Depot. Don't touch it. But how do you decide? I mean, is there like a cache of of t shirts at the McGhee state? Do you? Did you go out and buy that on EBay? Wh. How do you select what t shirts you're going to wear? Well, I have a lot of people were like ju just Bob much of Star Wars and marvel t shirts for because you're a company man and for the show I'm like, I didn't buy anything. I had all that in my closet. So and I and I don't need to buy anything new from what. So I have lots of t shirts with captain America Darth Vader. Well, there you have it. Okay. Well, we've we've rapidly driven into cul de sac on that subject. Let's talk some football. There's actually a lot going on a big injury at Ohio State. Some interesting redshirt news at Auburn, an update from Chris low in the middle of the night on the Alabama quarterback situation. And Nebraska finds an opponent to replace Akron, all that when we get out of the tunnel. Time to come out of the tunnel on campus conversation. At the top of the news on this Friday morning, Ohio State Buckeye defensive in Nick Bosa. One of the best players in the country had surgery yesterday to fix a core muscle injury and urban Meyer said yesterday, there is no timetable for his return. I can't stand how cryptic people are with injuries these days, and and coaches are all hiding behind the hip Alah. But that's a topic for another day. Both the suffered the injury in the third quarter of the victory over TCU last Saturday. He already had four sacks this season replacing him. Adam, sophomore, chase, young, who. Made no tackles against TCU last week, but had two sacks against Rutgers the previous week and also had to hers, which is the most of any of the buckeyes through three weeks of season. So apparently even the soft Moores who don't play a lot, have some talent in Columbus, otherwise the Powell and hide car going by you, which one which exactly what that very good pal and high dairy native thrown out. Some knowledge, chase, young is a name people should know..

"Meanwhile the world cup continues that you've been watching you been seeing upsets video replays teams accidentally scoring themselves soccer stuff but in every world cup you also see these larger stories playing out in each of these participating countries and back in iran soccer matches usually consist entirely of men not just on the field like in the stands to no women allowed anywhere well that rule does not exist in russia which means some women passionate fans of the sport are traveling there in watching games in person for the very first time abc's patrick rival is based in moscow and patrick it sounds so simple but you've described it as really this this radical act this is very interesting story of iranian women traveling to to russia in some of them for the first time being able to go into a soccer stadium which is the keeps saying saying was you know it seems like a very straightforward thing you you wanna go watch soccer match you can that neuron if you were a woman it it's very difficult to go you have to mostly if you wanna go you have to disguise yourself as a man and there's actually been the stories of guy of women dressing out in putting on fake bids and going to matches the so i met this very interesting woman who is who's been campaigning on this issue of about a decade and who has traveled to russia anonymously and his being standing in the stands holding a banner that's against this bannon going on the iranian authorities to let women attend yourself extremely twi to show that this is not nor political parties or opinion are behind us we are simple iranian women we want to watch the book she's hit doing that with it with a handful of other women i i can't begin to imagine what what is that experience like so i mean they they say i you know the astounded when they go into the stadium and one of them said it's like the sun is like falling into television is on this going from two d to three but then at the same time as cut with sadness because they understand that many of their friends who would love to do this it and then strange on the one hand at this tournament this is the first time they've successfully managed to raise that ban about it because people authorized them to do it because of a long lobbying campaign they're able to put up signs in the stadium itself yeah which which in fee for in general is is pretty cagey about allowing any kind of demonstration and so they'd manage to a lot of 'lobbying to persuade to allow them to do it and so just last night you know i heard from one of the activists that she had been detained as she was trying to take her into the stadium and she had to take an author another one says she was in and she said no no very pleasant way they feel that fica has has been laying mostly lip service to that campaign the and so the they feel that doesn't they have a lot more work to do before before they can achieve that go three into gold i want to game it's that and certainly a long way to go before they're accepted in the stands in their home country patrick no games in moscow debate so practice and take a breath thank you.

"America's focused this week has centered on immigration but on the other side of the world different us policies are dominating the conversation fears of a trade war tanking the stock mortgage china continues to say it will respond to american tariffs with tariffs of his own and as a potential trade war brews the question about nuclear war continues to linger as north korean leader kim jong un visited beijing this week he has now left the country abc's foreign editor curate roddy is here to help us break it down cure at these countries get together what do they want from each other at this point there's a lot of horse trading going a lot of gamesmanship and everybody needs everybody the chinese need north korea because they actually you talked a little bit about the tariffs in the trade war they actually in a way need the north koreans to to remind trump that trump needs china on north korea you can't put on us if we're trying to help you out with north korea sakhalin so if all of a sudden everything's okay china loses a bit of its leverage you may remember that trump's been talking about a trade war with china for month with putting tariffs so and fifty billion dollars worth of technology and other things because we have to because we've been treated very unfairly but he's sort of put that on the back burner when all of a sudden he needed the chinese and their leveraged with the north koreans to move the diplomacy forward on that but what is happening with denuclearization i mean this agreement was the biggest story in the world north korea can name sites at wants to do nuclearized but but one to stuff start happening well that's exactly the question and we don't know since singapore we haven't really seen any steps certainly nothing concrete from either side there's been some talk pompeo the secretary of state has said that they're still in talks with the north koreans or so a lot of work to do there there are still risks that we won't achieve that these he made himself go back to peon gangs soon but we haven't seen any concrete concessions from anybody at an actually the south koreans are starting to get a little bit frustrated and started to ask well you know where's the beef in that so interesting because south korea had really cheered this on it had been american skeptics predicting that once kim jong un had his big moment in the spotlight he would just kind of fold his arm so the next several years and slow roll everyone thanks for stopping by thanks brad.

"And likes to celia said this drumbeat of outrage wasn't just coming from democrats it was coming from the president's own party from congress i would never allow my kids to be separated from in and this is one of those issues that people are coming across our southern border we gotta keep those families together one of those people beating that drum was congressman chris stewart from utah he tweeted yesterday the president can reverse the policy of separating families today if he doesn't congress must vote to end it a few hours later of course the president signed that order and congressman stewart joins us now congressman are you are other republicans satisfied with this move i i wanna see the details of his executive order i but it's a step forward and i mean we have these two conflicting values that are are bashing each other right now one of them is that we have to secure our border we can't just open our borders to any groups or individuals and if people show put their children that doesn't mean that they can enter the country because of that on the other hand and i think the more pressing matter than before more emotional matter that we're trying to deal with is we can't look at these pictures you can't hear these audio recordings you can't know what's going on at the border where you have young children separated from their parents and just say that's okay we can do better than that the the american public demands that we do better than that and that's what i was trying to trying to press upon not just the president but other other political leaders as well this is just unacceptable and and i think again it's a step forward but but that's you know the work isn't done we still need to look at a longer term fix to this and something more permanent that's done legislatively well the president said this was not up to him that was false he said he could not fix this with an executive order that was obviously false he just did he okayed this policy and then only reversed it after these images came out has the president lost the moral authority to govern immigration policy in this country well i don't think so i mean look this type of this type of scenario was guide it's bumps and bruises along the way and i wish the president would have acted more quickly we've been speaking about this for several weeks now the president was okay seeing these families separated for more than six weeks right i mean i mean that's how long this was actually happening it was just that he saw those pictures in the last few days so so from now on when people come to him with new proposals when there are no pictures spelling out the consequences do you trust him to make the right decision well yeah i do look the president's not perfect i think he made a mistake in this but you can't say because the president made mistake in one issue even important issue liked it there he's illegitimate in the entire conversation and i'm just wondering about his compassion you think he has it will yes surely he does again he made a mistake here but i don't think you can take with the blanket a very broad stroke of the brush well he's a bad man he has no compassion he has no moral authority we can't listen to him on and that's what your question is implying and i just think i think that would be a mistake and i think it's it's doesn't reflect the political realities of of this problem at all i think the president should have acted more aggressively he didn't i'm glad that he did at this point and now let's fix it as i've said in a more permanent way as well and we are expecting some votes on broader immigration packages in the house congressman chris stewart will be there for them thank you for being with us sir already thank you.

"To digest the news over the last twenty four hours you've come to the right place welcome let's set you up for the day ahead here we go the images were to heartbreaking the sounds to unnerving and finally the outcry was just too loud yesterday in the oval office president trump abruptly changed course of we are signing an executive order and a little while we'll keep families together but we still have to maintain toughness and today we're going to walk you through that decision the fallout and what is facing these families that have been broken up but first let me just back up because i want to be absolutely clear about what all went down here for years the rule has been if you're taking a jail you don't get to take your kid with you doesn't work like that and that applied to undocumented immigrants to there's also a rule that says it's a crime to cross the border illegally but and this is important just because you do something illegal does not mean you always go to jail we'll seventy six days ago that is what changed i have no doubt that many of those crossing our border illegally are leaving behind difficult situations we cannot take everyone on this planet who is in a difficult situation attorney general jeff sessions said from now on everyone who crosses the border illegally is going to jail zero tolerance and suddenly that meant of course lots of kids were being taken from their parents at least seven hundred children have been separated from their families since october the border patrol taking us inside where eleven hundred men women and children are being held detained in cages some of the youngest faces behind the metal fencing children's seemed sleeping under my lar blankets and so just so we're clear that executive order yesterday did not change what session said crossing the border illegally still means you're going to jail what the president did decide to do was keep these jailed families together i think the word compassion comes into it but it still equally as tough if not tougher to sell your vega is abc's senior white house correspondent and so cecillia i just wanted to spell all that out because even if this does not reverse that exact original policy the president certainly is reversing course here no this is in fact a stunning reversal from the president know the president had spent days in weeks saying he could not do this by the stroke of a pen can't do it through an executive he could not pick up the phone and make a phone call in simply stop this policy lindsey graham said pick up the phone you could do this this is easy but that's exactly what the president did he signed an executive order with his pen in the oval office happy people that essentially stops this policy separating migrant children from their parents it allows thirties to house them in detention together rather than separating them we should remember this was not an accident that families were separated this was not a byproduct jeff sessions said this was part of the plan that splitting up families would send a message would deter them so what actually forced the president's hand on this the first lady lobbied him behind the scenes we're told czanka trump a showed him those images of children in shelters they were both bothered by it anybody with a heart would feel very strongly about it we don't like to see families separated there is sort of a public relations thing happening here or to make it seem as though they were very involved behind the scenes perhaps a very much they were were only just now hearing that they were both the first lady and the first daughter are facing a lot of backlash online people saying that they were complicit were the deal breaker for him the reason for this reversal i don't necessarily think that that was the case i think it probably boils down to the optics of this the president got an earful and has received an earful from republicans on capitol hill who he put them in an impossible position the midterms are right around the corner and there's lawmakers had like their own families coming in for a picnic they had to face their own wives and daughters husbands that picnic is now off can you imagine the optics of that when i walked into the white house on the day the president at that hour i had no idea he was going to be signing this executive order but they were.
