This is already the most expensive Supreme Court race in the history of the country, not just Wisconsin, the entire country. I mean, think about that. I mean, that includes races in California, New York, Texas, Florida. The most expensive right here in Wisconsin. And I think you're right. The reason that there is that much money being spent is there is the two competing visions here could have implications across the rest of the country. So

Deuteronomy 21-23: Seeing God's Heart and in the Midst of Archaic Laws
"Moses continues his farewell speech today and he covers a wide variety of laws in these three chapters. We don't have time to touch on them all, so I'll just pull a few from the ones that might have been the most perplexing for my reading. Most of which pertain to relationships between men and women. But before we get there, I want to remind us about a few things just so we have the proper framework for what we're encountering here. God is not setting up a utopian society where everything is ideal. God is meeting the people where they are and giving them a framework for a functional society where people are treated with at least the bare minimum level of respect. When God addresses something like multiple wives, it doesn't mean he's putting a seal of approval on it. It means he's acknowledging that it happens, and he's giving them honorable ways to respond to an imperfect, sinful situation. We'll hit some challenging passages today and it's important for us to remember not to overlay our cultural experience onto theirs. Speaking of which, let's go over the first tough segment. Marrying female captives for anyone in western society today, this idea is really cringe inducing. We even balk at the idea of arranged marriage, and this feels like it fringes on our idea of love and marriage even more. One of the things we have to remember about this society is that marriage rarely fit our modern ideas of love. Very rarely did a woman especially Mary for love. They often married as a means of being provided for. So the situation we've got here is that the Israelites would have conquered a city and killed all the men, but taken the women and children alive. Some of these women would have been absorbed into the society, but if a man found a woman he wanted to marry, it's quite likely she wouldn't have objected. And this law God set out here honored the woman by giving her a 30 day period of time to mourn and grieve all she has lost before marrying the israelite man. If for any reason, things in the marriage went south, God protects the woman by requiring the man to treat her with honor, not like she's his property. Please don't miss God's heart in this. Even though so much of this seems archaic, we can still see God's plan to provide for the woman through the man and to protect her if the man fails to honor her well.

But what I loved is when I realized that Ajax was the anglicization of the Greek ayas, depending on how you pronounce it, right? And then I realized, oh yeah, in the 1920s, whenever they came up with Ajax, the cleanser that people use to clean their sinks and whatever. It's because it's strong. So there was once a culture. In the 1920s and 30s, when people were so literate in the classics, that everyone know Ajax was like Hercules. He's strong. And how depressing. Right? Okay, but it gets weird. Oh, yeah. It gets weirder. I was in Greece because I'm Greek. And I saw a canister of Ajax, and you'd think that what would the Greek version of Ajax, the blue dot cleanser? What would the Greek version be called? Of course, it would be IS, right? Naturally. A zeta alpha Kappa. Wow. And I thought no one in the world cares about this, but me and someday in the future. A Lot of People Had High Hopes for Mike Pence... Not John Zmirak
"Lot of people had high hopes for Mike Pence and would disappoint it. I never had the slightest hopes for Mike Pence because back in 2015, at the stream, I wrote a column on how useless he was. Mike Pence had put through a religious freedom bill protecting the rights of Christians to associate and hire people, despite the attacks of the LGBTQ my name is legion movement. In other words, it was a religious freedom restoration act. And what it did was, it said, Christian employers could not be forced to hire people who were advancing openly gay, lifestyles. It said that no federal law mandating gay gay rights could Trump the First Amendment. The Chamber of Commerce in Indiana rebelled. Under the pressure of the gay lobby, the Chamber of Commerce said, oh no, they're going to be boycotts. They won't have college sports games. Indiana will suffer and Pence caved. Penn's caved in a red state of which he was already governor. So I said, okay, this is a weak sister. This is not somebody we need. And when Trump picked and for vice president, I said, oh boy, we are screwed. And then the deep state conducted its coup d'etat against our legitimately elected president. It started during the transition period. When Trump tried to hire Mike Flynn to supervise the deep state to sort of see what they were doing because George Bush trashed the constitution by passing the Patriot Act. It allowed federal intelligence agencies to collude to surveil Americans. It created the kind of joke kangaroo court, the fisa court that would rubber scam, surveillance, and every American on the slightest pretext, Obama, the Obama administration weaponized that and started going after conservatives and Christians using the deep state.

At the end of 2020, during a period of intense consolidation of big tech and big government, we're really the main adversarial party was the free speech rights of U.S. citizens. And so I saw from inside how big government and big tech were really wrapped into one sort of interest group, one sort of lobby group for their own sort of proprietary pecuniary interest where there was really no lobby for the American people, especially to be able to speak freely online.

"Not the performance you were really hoping something. No. It was kind of sloppy, I think, the first two periods, you know, I thought the beginning of the second period we kind of challenge ourselves to be a little bit sharper, a little better. And I thought the first part of the period we weren't bad and right up to the kind of a two on one domi and snail had and just we missed it and it went right down the other way against us and then we were just kind of chasing it after that. But not our best game, but. Again we just we pull the goalie and try and make a 6 on four and you know we had a couple shots, but we just, I think you've got to give them a little credit they played with some desperation and I thought they played fast and we knew they were going to send some long bomb pucks and flips and they gave us a little trouble in the first two periods, but I thought kind of settled in and Peter gave us a really good chance in this game, but unfortunately we just gave up too many in the third. When you're getting outshot and I'll possess that badly and you're still in the game. I mean, positive is coach, they look, turn it on now and you can win this thing. Yeah, and I think not on discipline play, but unfortunately we were in the penny box too much early and that gives the other team momentum and offense of momentum and puck possession and we have not. So we have guys that don't even touch the puck for the first ten minutes of the first period. So you've got to just play simple after that. I'm not sure if we played simple. I think we kind of tried to push envelopes and plays and maybe passed up shots. And then didn't ask execute when we had a shot and missed the net. So I don't think we attacked their net as much as we really needed to do, especially on a rogue game. You okay with tomi going after Joshua. I didn't really see the hit or anything, but those calls are going to be automatic. If you escape from even a short distance, they're going to call the extra call and an instigator. They just don't want that in the game, but I'm I'll never complain when a teammate steps up for a teammate or sticks up for a teammate. Is there a little ways you can kind of just curve that a little bit and send a message without taking yourself out of the game for 17 minutes because we missed them for a long time and short staffed up front. So sometimes you can talk to a player and say, you know, maybe we could do this a little bit, send the same message if you want to send that message. You know, to protect your teammates, but keep yourself in the game. We don't want to lose you. And the neutral zone was so good. You're playing the neutral zone in Philly and St. Louis. What have you thought of it? As capacity games since then. Not as bad today as last game. Last game, we just had a very real, a lot of trouble. And I think it was a lot of energy of skating, but today I think it was just a lack of execution, whether it be getting out of our own clean or handling the puck in the new zone went off site a few times, just not clean. So, you know, it'd be nice to go to a practice day here or there. And just to get snapping that puck around and executing plays, not trying to work on it as you go in the game. But, you know, that's just the schedule is. So you have to work on it and play simple and I think you have to get even more simple when things aren't going a 100% perfect. But you got to be one touching out of your zone. You've got to be one touch of that neutral zone. And play behind the other team. And I think tonight we wanted to really try and connect tape to tape and it just wasn't going tape to tape a little similar to last game. So I'll just lessons learned that you don't want things are going bad, simplify, and try to execute more. And then as the game gets going, maybe then we can try a little bit more, not fancy stuff, but a little bit
