Father Frank Pavone Reflects on President Trump's Commitment to Protecting Life in the Womb
"He is the director of priests for life, father Frank pavone, welcome in studio. Oh, boy, it's a joy to be here, Seth. Thank you so much. I want to introduce everyone who doesn't know who you are or what your organization does, who's maybe tuned in for the first time to understand all the work that you've done and you're doing every single day. We'll get to you the man that momentarily, but let's just roll with that cut. What does it mean to you? What does it mean to America? What does it mean to the Christian world to have an incumbent president address the march for life? You know, Seb, we dreamt about this back. I remember going to the march for life and my one my first one was the third one, 1976. And you were like two years old. But you know, I remember you through the Reagan years, you know, he would call in by phone and NSA, Nelly gray and the marchers, how you doing? And we would stand there literally saying, hey, The White House isn't far from here. Can you imagine if the president came? And like for decades, that was like our dream. What it does is it gives a new level of legitimate. I mean, the movement is legitimate. It stands on its own, obviously. But for a president to be there, says to America this movement has come far. It has come far, it has an impact and it's shaping the nation. And we were also encouraged. As a matter of fact, let me back up and just say, you know, president Donald Trump, of course, you were privileged to work for him. I served on his advisory commissions, both both campaigns, and in the second one, I was the national co chair of what he called pro life voices for Trump. I was so proud to do that. And I was told during the first campaign if he's elected, he'll do everything that passed pro life presidents have done and more. And those words and more echoed through my mind during all the four years of his presidency because he proved them true every
Will We Ever Know the Truth About the Wuhan Virus?
"We're back on America first one on one with my friend Gordon Chang. We have to mention because it is back in the news again, Gordon. Wuhan, the coronavirus. Now there's even talk of the dnieper virus being involved in one shape or another. My take as somebody who's worked in a post communist nation for 15 years whose parents escaped a communist nation, as long as there is a communist party in China running that dictatorship, we will never ever know the truth. Unless, of course, there is a high level defector that brings the goods out. We condemn to just constantly hear the prevarications and the propaganda or do you think at some point we will find out whether or not it was artificially created whether or not it was a leak or a weaponization. What's your prognosis? Yeah, I think we will eventually find out said, but it'll take a little while, and it's precisely for the reason you said. You know, we have had some very brave Chinese souls actually put themselves at risk to come tell us what happened. Like doctor Lee mignon, who fled from Hong Kong after being threatened. You know, we have heard these voices. But the other thing, of course, is that this virus leaves a trail. And for instance, there are unusual combinations of amino acids like the double CGG sequence, which does not occur in nature. Only occurs after genes placing. So we're getting a pretty clear picture about where this came from. And I'm sure that within a couple of years, we will have even more. But there's one thing we know said, a 100% that regardless of where this disease came from. Xi Jinping took decisions that deliberately spread this virus beyond China's borders. He's lied about contagiousness and while locking down his own country, he forced other countries to accept rivals from China without restrictions without quarantines. That's what spread this
You Can't Worship God if You Don't Stand up for the Voiceless
"I'm talking to our friend John Smith John. The biggest part of what we're going through as a country right now. And you were talking about it is that it's very difficult for us, Americans, naive, happy Americans, to think that this kind of evil is happening in our time that we have governors who don't just grope women, but send elderly people to their deaths. We find it hard to believe that we have somebody like Doctor Fauci doing things that end up rising to the level of evil, not just malpractice, but evil. He has great power, like Robert Moses had in New York. It's frightening. And we need to help wake each other up. Does the reality? And if you don't fight folks, if you do not fight these tip this one out, it's on you. I want to be very clear. The bonhoeffer book gives us a warning of what happens when people of faith in particular say, I'm not ready to fight yet. I'm just interested in worshiping God. You can't worship God if you don't stand up for the voiceless when they're being attacked. So when we see this kind of gross monstrous evil, governors like Cuomo murdering thousands of people in nursing homes. Scientists, bureaucrats, like Fauci, evading U.S. law in order to produce a deadly virus which the Chinese government then unleashed on the world while locking China down. Purposely flying people to dozens of different countries while preventing Chinese from traveling. Once the disease was out. When you see that most of the governments in the world with a few exceptions and Scandinavia are using COVID as a pretext to override all constitutional freedoms to install what we can only call a public health dictatorship to use vaccine passports to politically purge police forces and the military. What a great way to get faithful Christians out of the military out of the police where they could maybe make a difference in a dangerous time. Then by making them take a vaccine made from aborted babies or tested on aborted babies. Wow, what a great way to cleanse the armed forces to cleanse the police forces of any decent freedom loving

'Is Atheism Dead?' Live From Freedom Night in America With Eric Metaxas
"On some college campus is not all of them, the atheists evangelize with more fervor than Christians do on those campuses. And so Eric, what do you think the reason for that is? It seems that atheists are not comfortable being alone. And this is always, I've always tried to challenge them, I say, if there's no, if you don't believe in an eternal life or a creator, you only got so much time left. You better live it up, right? What are you doing trying to convince people for that? By the way, just a reminder, I got a couple of these. You could steal these Eric because you're big on that, right? Is without God, there would be no atheists. Remember that. So and you got to think about that for a second without there would be no way. I'm pretty sure that C. S. Lewis or chesterton. That's chesterton. You can't fool me. Go ahead. It was actually my Uber driver, Eric, okay? So I watched the video where you got that from. The guy who gets his joke from the Uber driver. That was Chris. That was the guy who just passed away. You know, you know, I'm talking about. Norm McDonald's. Oh yeah, yeah, from SNL. He told a story, okay, never mind. Let's continue. I'm looking up the chapter that answers the question you're asking me. Keep going. But most important question when it comes to dealing with an atheist. And we all have atheists in our lives, which is do you hope you're wrong? It's the most important question. Which is if you ask someone who believes in atheism, do you hope you're wrong? Because if you're dealing with an honest person, no atheist actually hopes to believe in nothing. You actually want to believe there is no love. There is no justice. There is no eternal life. And so if an atheist says, you know what, I do hope I'm wrong. Then you're dealing with an honest broker. But if someone says, you know what? I want to be right more than what could possibly be good. Then that right there is a completely different conversation that you're having. At a very fundamental level, even every single atheist should want to be proven wrong. Every single I don't know where I heard that, but I know it's not original with you. But seriously, no, but the point is that that's exactly true. But the other thing and you just asked me this question and I want to answer this, it's in the book. I couldn't find it. But if you believe there's no God, okay? It follows logically. And this is the problem. People don't want to deal with this. They just want to say there's no God, and I can do what I want. No, no, no. If there is no God, there is absolutely no measure of good or evil. There's literally no meaning in the universe. Your life is no different than the life of a gnat. And if that's true, that life is utterly meaningless. The bleakness of that is
Walgreens Says It's Closing Five SF Stores Due to Crime
"It's an interesting question I posed here given that they are shutting down these Walgreens and targets in San Francisco. And due to theft theft is due to the fact that the Democrats are okay with theft. I hereby announce I risk my reputation as a thinker as a broadcaster as a decent human. When I state to you, theft is okay with the Democratic Party. Okay? So let's be clear, clarity is the essence of truth. The Democratic Party in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia is okay with stealing. Is that clear? If it isn't clear, you're lying to yourself and I can't help that. But I'm not lying to myself. That is how low we have gotten. In the moral sphere in this country. One of the two major parties is okay with stealing. Indeed, it makes it possible. Low lifes like George Soros fund people who are okay with stealing. That George Soros has the respect of Democrats tells you only one thing and that is the low level of morality in the Democratic Party. The man is loathsome, truly loathsome. He funds people who do not prosecute theft. But they laugh, they laugh at us religious folks who actually believe that do not steal comes from God. Oh, how silly dilly. You silly, religious people believe that God is against theft. Makes us Democrats laugh. You make us laugh your religious people. We are the sophisticates. Walgreens is closing 22 locations. KPIX channel 5 rereads back to Walgreens for clarification and Walgreens clearly stated the closure of all 22 store locations is directly due to an increase in retail theft.

Jessie Jane Duff's Hardcore Response to the Concept of Women in Combat
"And we're back one on one with Jesse Jane Duff. Okay, we discussed it at the beginning of the show. Let's open it up a little bit further. The NDAA, the national defense authorization act the Republicans who are bending over backwards to facilitate the crazies in the Democrat party. Well, not crazy. The crazy Democrat party told us about this idea of the draft for women. And who's behind this insanity and give us your take justice? Well, you know, there is so much disarray with this current administration that I couldn't tell you the logic behind any of it. Other than they have been enabled by our enemies. I mean, I look at this as just watering down the capabilities of our United States military one drip at a time. And people, you know, I get on Twitter and I get these guys. I wanna say, well, you all wanted equality. And I'm like, stop it. Stop it. Don't sit here and argue with someone like me. I wasn't one of those lieutenants that went to go to the courts and protest ensues, so I could become a general one day. The odds of you becoming a general in the infantry are slim to almost zero. Number one, number two, what is your motivation for this? It's not going to impact combat readiness. On one level. So first of all, there was a study done by the United States Marine Corps when Obama had lifted the combat exemption for women. And I believe it was 2015. April 15th, I remember was tax day. And it went without nobody cried. Nobody cried. Civilian women didn't even care. And I'm sorry, civilian ladies, you never care till it impacts you. And the fact is, as they've taken it for granted that their daughters wouldn't get drafted, but I told that many radio shows and TV shows as soon as you put women in ground combat, how are you going to be able to say you can justifiably stop putting it having them in the draft? So here's the thing, the bulk of the women don't want to go in the infantry for a multitude of reasons. We have 45% less muscle mass 20% less won capacity. And I hear women in the army particularly want to get mad at me and say, oh, you're against women's rights. Say, you are not thinking this out. Even if a woman can get through the training, what are her odds of surviving hand to hand combat with the enemy? Because that's what Fallujah was. This is equivalent to putting a woman in a mixed martial arts cage with a man. You can not believe pounds or 80 pounds of equipment. And not only that, the enemy tends to fight on methamphetamines and other drugs. So that right there. Two. Even if you pass the training, your odds are you're going to be at the lower percentile of the men. Unless they've done so many accommodations, they've lowered the standard. You now have

Mike Chats With Chad Prather, Republican Candidate for Texas Governor

Hey, Mike, it's good to be with you. I'm a big fan of the show love what you do. I appreciate you having me on. Well, I'm a big fan of your show and your work as well. Your podcast is terrific. And your book, two thirds of the way through because I need some affirmation that I'm not the crazy one. My late wife Denise used to say, we had a running joke. If you're crazy, do you know it? And I think it's a fair question. So when, for example, the New York City council votes unanimously to remove the statue of Thomas Jefferson because he owned slaves. When Lori Lightfoot poses maskless in a crowd full of people indoors violating her own mask mandate, all these things that keep happening over and over again, you and I know they're crazy, but Chad the $64,000 question for you as we begin this conversation, do they know they're crazy? I think the asylums are empty, Mike, I think they're running the street, not just running the street, but they're creating the policy and the culture we're living in. Unfortunately, we've given them a big voice. No, they don't know they're crazy. They think that this is their ideal. They think that they're doing something really good for the planet and doing things for the world that is absolving us all of our great sins of the past and history. Now, I think we're all at some level on the insanity spectrum. We have to be a little bit crazy just to make heads or tails of what we're seeing across the
The Contempt From the Biden Administration Is Unlike Anything We've Witnessed Before
"So the supply chain crisis is funny to The White House, huh? The border crisis is funny. They're flying illegals into communities all across the country in the middle of the night. And Jen Psaki wants to argue with the reporter about what constitutes the middle of the night. It's funny. It's all a joke to them. Biden is demanding that cops and teachers firefighters, and nurses get fired from their jobs for failing to adhere to his draconian vaccine mandates while he goes strolling through an indoor inside a restaurant in Washington, D.C. maskless. It's a level of disrespect, and I'd argue contempt that we've never witnessed. The Democrats in general and the Biden administration in particular are demonstrating a degree of contempt for the American people that we have never witnessed. You think this is funny? When people are trying to put food on their table and figure out how to provide for their families and a reporter and earnest reporter who I don't think was a conservative reporter, mainstream reporter saying to Psaki, these items are all being clogged. They're not being delivered. The shelves are bare, and she's smirks. And says, ah, the tragedy of the treadmill. That's funny. This is the way this is how they roll.

Maybe pick up a little bit of Aussie sovereigns knowing that down the road, you're likely to get a premium from from the Central bank. I don't think it's that much of a no brainer..

I am Tammy Michaels and be patient. I will get to your calls. They are jammed up. But these are all such good questions. Phyllis ICU Ray ICU right now, we're going to go to Susan. And this is something there. Again, people are asking all the time. And we as general contractors when we're working on master bathroom. Sometimes this is an additional service that we offer, but I can refute for you to others. So Susan feel free to ask your question. Yes. I bought my house in August. The two thousand sixteen and I've been wanting to do this ever since I got it living in the great northwest. Then I deployed, and I wouldn't have Danis Dan for ten months, and I just got back the people watching my house had the same thing. I haven't outside balcony it's on the second floor second level of a two story house, and with the weather the rain, you're only having clean it off with and have it though down through the drainage into the garage. What I'd like to do is they close it. It's about seven or eight five in about twenty eight long. It's got up pretty foot wall already built up. So I'm trying to think what's the best way to do that. I have a hard time finding somebody that can bring out the roof and just enclose it, and I don't want to think I don't able Acropole or any of that. It just wanted the weather out. What what you read the man? Okay. So let me ask you a few. Follow questions. First of all, I have to ask are you? Are you military? I was military. And now, I work for Shari corps of engineers. I'm a day now. But I wasn't a great yet. Okay. Okay. 'cause you were saying deploy. And so thank you on all counts for your service. I really appreciate that. I'm on the board for the USO. And I really appreciate what you do. So you're asking really good questions. And the fact that you are on the army corps of engineers. I've worked with them for things that we've done on the face and other USO centers. So you come at this with a skill set that is unlike most and that is quite helpful. So I think that one of the first things that you need to have is a feasability type of someone to come out doesn't charge you and can just tell you what the options are. There is no one size fits all for a project like this. Because the feasability includes you know, the house itself load bearing walls supporting. That you're blowing out alone berry wall. Then you usually need engineering drawings. Followed up with an you know, an architect all of these things or vice versa. Finally, the contractor this is actually not a hard project when I say permits when I say structural engineers. And when I say drawings people sometimes get very confused moving roof line. There are people that just by saying that very thing the price goes through the roof. I will give you a specific example, I have to single women living in a home right now mother and daughter, and they want to do the exact same thing. The prices I got for them to do. This is a little more room than what you're expecting to do. But it was anywhere between a hundred and twenty thousand two over two hundred thousand dollars. I found that ridiculous. I delayed their project, and I found the right person to do it. And it is now really way way under that your project should be. Way beneath that your project should based on what you're saying. I think it would be anywhere between ten and possibly about thirty. It depends. But you need somebody who will help you get this done help. You get it done quickly. And you will understand the engineering probably more than any other person contractor that works on your home. So what I'm going to suggest is I don't normally do this. But because I have saw spot for all service members, we covered our contractors, the ones we work with the don't overbid jobs, by the way, I'm gonna give you the name of a company that will help you do this. And I don't want anything from you you've done enough for us in our country. So I'm gonna give you the names of a couple of people that will do this for you won't overcharge you and get this done fast. I hope that helps and and just call me at sound kitchen and bath and just remind them that you are, sir. You are Susan prior service, and I will definitely take your call, and I'll make personal referral for this. I hope that helps. Stay connected. Stay informed. The home of the huskies. Komo news. I first of all to get on the second level, you either have to have my credit. You can't you can't put you can't put Bill with two Super Bowls. Still can't put Bill with two Super Bowls on that level. With those guys. He's he's the next level down might I say you can't put them when a guy with six Super Bowls. Years ago. Break your chops. You say Carey grant, look the greatest in Sita, right? Yes. So you could say Cary Grant looks the greatest share of cedar. Why can't we say Brady sport it back? You see argument. My point. Is there you can say both. They're both subjective. Low. Yeah. But my point is just because you say what I said was okay? Nobody looked better than Cary Grant in that room. And he was seventy something years old. Okay. AJ perry. Grant was seventy something years old at the time. Missing you missing the story. Bob, you breaking the story up. The guy was seventy something years old at the time. And he's still look at anybody in the room. That was the part of the story. He still was the best looking guy in the room. And he was seventy seven years old. That's how perfect you looked you missed up the story. The point is. The guys I put on that level guys that I think if you wanna put an older, you can I put the guys there that I felt are store figures or have won so much Shula won three hundred games over three indicates the winningest coach of all time. That's why you're gonna put him there. Walsh changed the game. And won three Superbowls. Belgian is one six and then I put Brown and Landry which I don't think need any explanation. And then on the top levels Lombardi. And then the next level would be null and would be Gibbs and would be parcels and guys like that being on the top five levels would be all time. But do I have to put Belgian now higher than Parcells? I don't want to. And Bella check has one six plus Belgium onto Moore's a coordinator. So he's actually. Eight and I think check has now broken the all time, right? Because I think the record for any participation as an assistant a player or head coach was eleven. And Bella check now is nine ten twelve right? It's gotta be twelve right? He's got to be two giant. One patriot. With Parcells did they lost? And then. Nine with the patriots. So that's ten twelve Super Bowls. So is the all time high because I think Dan Reeves had the record as eleven as a player and assistant and a head coach, and now Belgium, it's been the guy has been a participant in the most goals ever at twelve another record back after this..

So this is the first time that they've ever had to have a speaker review by this spray people on campus. So Shapiro specifically has a target on his back. These groups have decided to target him. And it's happening at colleges all across the country. Absolutely. The good news is after them back down. And thankfully, our students. Don't either. So like I said I was there yesterday working on finding Passover down this. And hopefully, you know, we can do that discussion and make sure that that is a lot to speak there. I mean, I have a suggestion for those that are offended. Don't go. You don't want. Hear it don't show up. You know, because because this whole thing is rooted in not wanting others to hear something. That's what the left doesn't get the left used to be about freedom of speech, and free expression. And the core of this reaction to speakers on campus is not about an individual not wanting to hear what Ben Shapiro has to say or any other conservative speaker for that matter. It's about that individual wanting to act to keep others from hearing what they have to say because that's what this is about. If you don't want to hear it, don't go. David French actually had an excellent piece in national review on this situation. Believe yesterday talking about this phenomenon of platforming conservatives, we're like you said it's not just about you know, nobody being forced to go. But instead it's completely taking the platform away from people like Ben Shapiro at the goals. Yeah. No. All right, Spencer Brown. Thanks, buddy. We appreciate it. Absolutely. Thank you. Keep it on. All right, Spencer, Brown, Young America's foundation. Yeah. I mean, what this is about super Dave is not about. It's not about. I'm offended by Ben Shapiro. It's about I don't want you to hear what Ben Shapiro has to say. So I would ask that person. What do you have to hide that hearing another point of view is so afraid and frightening for you that you that you would actually abridge someone else's right to hear something? They're not afraid of the snowflakes that are already entrenched. They're not going to go or they'll protest outside. They're afraid of the open minded young person who might hear something and say, wait a minute. All that. I'm being taught exactly isn't exactly right. "A Mike you're on the air. Go ahead. It is my honor to introduce to you, Dan, Catholics and Krista Kafer Cavs are coming. This is the new Catholic Kafer show, you better believe it on Denver's talk station. Six thirty. And you better believe it yet. This is Krista Kafer half of capless in Kafer and thanks for tuning in on this five o'clock Friday afternoon, we had some start this week. And that is the the new legislature came into the capital, and I think governor Hickenlooper governor is going to be sworn into office on Tuesday of next week. But these guys and legislature. They already got big plans. The question is should we be nervous? I've got one of my favorite journalists on the line. John frank. He's with Colorado sun, he's been down at the capitol talking the legislature. And I wonder what he's well. I don't have to wonder I'm looking at the article right now. But we've got him on the line to talk about what they've gotten store for us. What kind of the show John Frank? Thanks for having me. So this article it it's great article by the way, but I find myself feeling a little nervous. What's since? Store for us with this new legislature? Plenty of changes for one that covers all manner of things to be honest. We looked at the top ten issues that Colorado dot com today. And I'll be honest, we equally crammed in probably about twenty five because there's so much that is on the table this year for the last four years we've had a democratic house and a Republican Senate. And so we had a stalemate on the big ticket item. Plenty of legislation passed, but it had to have bipartisan support just by the nature of it with Democrats controlling both legislative chambers and the governor's office this time, plenty of Bill that were rejected are now alive again now at least about seventy five bills or so fit this category. And we're likely to see movement on a good number of those issues. This term what makes me nervous just because they happen to us oil and gas in my life is that there may be some decisions made that will impact drilling in this state. What's what's in the can looking for that? We don't have any specifics yet. But I will tell you that democratic house speaker Casey Becker, moving quite aggressively on this front in two different ways for one she wants to stay to do rarely oil and gas site stronger than in the past and in particular, she wants to put health and safety before other considerations. Now, this is an issue that we've been litigating in Colorado for years now. But in her mind, you know, they may just pass a Bill and take it out of hand. A second level. They want to empower local governments to have more of a say in the where these drilling rigs get cited and local community so on both fronts. We're likely to see changes, though, exactly what those specifics are still under negotiation. What concerns me is that we already have a regulatory body for that. And that is the Colorado oil and Gas Commission, and they do balance health and safety with industry needs with the environment. I it seems like you're they're going to try to fix something. That's not broken the Democrats minded broken, and they're responding to community constituent, particularly in the Boulder County region who feel like they don't have enough say on where the impacted and they're worried about air quality and water quality concerns. But what you mentioned is exactly what House Republican leader Patrick novel said on the floor today. He's concerned that these. Regulations won't do anything, and we'll actually only increased costs on the industry. He said Republicans are going to put a line in the sand on this one, and they are not going to support ardently gonna fight even if they don't have the numbers to do. So any effort that are going to hurt the oil and gas industry? I think about it this way, it isn't just the oil and gas industry, it's also people who use oil and gas. It's also communities they get those excise taxes, which then end up going to schools, and it's also the the the farmers that own the mental right mineral rights below their land. I just think they could end up doing some some bad things to a lot of people. Interesting question about whether the Colorado voter spoke on this issue in the election or not we had those competing ballot measures when it came to oil and gas from the democratic perspective, they kind of canceled each other out, and to be honest. They think the one point one million votes in favor of proposition. One twelve to increase the set act is a sign that people want something done. But then you heard again, GOP leader Neville say today that burger spoke they opposed any further regulation industry, and he can post with a done deal. Now one thing that lawmaker on either side, but particularly Democrats are not talking about is setback. They are not going the route of proposition one twelve despite demands from anti industry activists who were actually outside the capitol today demanding a moratorium on any new drilling permits for the time being. It's well, at least at least they're not looking at setbacks. But I guess we can wait and see what they do into cooking up. You know, I am sympathetic to red flag legislation. I think there needs to be good due process in it to ensure that people don't have their second or fourth amendments compromised, but like a lot of people I don't want crazy violent people to have a arsenal of guns at what what's going on on that front. This line. Or this issue was a big line in house speaker, Casey Becker speech today, and I keep referring to the house and all the quick aside. The Senate really didn't talk about too many of these issues, particularly the democratic side they stayed away from we still aren't sure what their agenda is going to be the house is much more organized and moving forward. So we know a little bit more on that side and speaker backer mentioned today the red flag Bill in this got some of the largest applause from democrat. They want something done here, and she singled out, Tom Sullivan. A new Representative whose son Alex died in the roar of theater shooting saying that we still have that the chamber now has someone directly affected by one of these mass shootings again on the other side Republicans. This is another one that issue. So they do align. The stand speaker Neville said that these laws are quote, so badly written an open to. Abuse. They're more likely to rob the innocent of the ability to defend themselves than to prevent the mentally ill from killing end quote. So that's a pretty distinct position that doesn't look like there's too much wiggle room for negotiation on that issue at this point. Well, John Frank at the Colorado sun, I do hope they take the minorities position seriously because obviously second fourth amendment rights are very important, and we don't want guns taken away from ordinary people. But I think the Aurora theater shooter is a great example of why you know, nutty people evil people don't need to have a lot of guns. They just don't. So hopefully, they can find a good compromise that that respects people's rights while keeping bad things bad at keeping bad people away from let's put it that way. Also, the other thing that concerns me in in in this new legislature is the drive towards socialized medicine. It's pretty it's pretty much the one thing that would make me move to Idaho and fulfil my Idaho fantasy even as a Colorado native because I have health problems. And I don't want to live under any kind of socialized medicine. Do they really have a chance in passing something like that? Healthcare is a very important issue. Four Democrats and really governor elect police is expected to to lead the train on this one speaker Becker told reporters as much so the other day in a briefing that this is an issue that the new administration cares a lot about and they're working on again came up. And if you wanna see what else came up, we've actually annotated the house and Senate speeches from today at Colorado com, breaking them down as a kind of unique way to cover them. But we wanted to analyze things a little more and healthcare is one of these issues we took a look at because not only will pull asleep. But Democrats have already introduced a Bill one of their first ten that looks at this issue in particular there want to address hostile transparency, which actually there some Republicans support for but also making available a new head. Healthcare option to people across the state that could take the form of a public option. We really don't know the detail. There's this they level, Medicaid, probably not is this a brand new health insurance plan possibly is kind of a hybrid. That may use Medicare reimbursement rates. We're not sure yet. So your concerns are shared by plenty of Republicans up at the state house or we're not quite sure exactly where this legislation going yet. But we do know it's going to be a big issue. Unfortunately, we're talking with John Frank at the Colorado sun, anything that surprised you you've been a veteran reporter why you were down and anything that raised your eyebrow. On opening day. And we highlight this story on the website is that the different tones be tween. The two tamers were pretty start the house. You had Democrats had a bold agenda Republicans drawing. Bright lines on what they would work together on what they wouldn't. And the Senate you had Democrats, you know, talking more and more physically about what they wanna do and not so much the issues and priorities that they're gonna put forward it came across the more conservative cautious approach. I guess would be the better word. And so there's going to be an interesting dynamic here that the Senate Democrats manned up moderating, the House Democratic good bet. Even though those caucuses are fairly aligned on this year's Milan makers in both chambers campaigned on both these so there seems to be some tensions already developing within the democratic caucus, which we already back to to appear. And so that's going to be a storyline. We'll have to watch that session about how the plays out and where governor police what's it into this equation. Well, there's a difference between say Pueblo Democrats, commerce city, Democrats and boulder, Democrats, they they may not see eye to eye on everything. And that's good for Republicans. Is it not? It is a little bit of geography for sure and Senator from Pueblo as you noted he has been more relatively moderate on Sundays issues, particularly the gun issues. But then in other ways, you know, when he took the gavel he said that they're going to lead, and he has a caucus full of ideas, and and raring to make progress on these bills that just stalled for the last few years. This includes a family medical leave program at the state level. This would include even more aggressive ways to address the opioid epidemic in Colorado all of this didn't move anywhere. So now, we're going to see movement, and that my show some of these democratic differences in geography that you mentioned that maybe we just didn't see materialize in prior sessions because it was just a Democrats versus Republicans dynamic is there some potential for. Overreach that could end up hurting them in the next election. That is the big question. That's a question that Republicans are raising in particular. Democrat. For their. Effort are not necessarily concerned about that. You hear speaker Casey Becker say look back to two thousand thirteen the laws we pass, then weather civil unions. Or even some of the gun legislation, and you know, mail voting they were all controversial at the time. They all face blowback from Republicans. But now, they're considered why the good ideas. So in a way, Democrats feel emboldened that some of their past legislative gamble paid off. But on the other side, you have Senate GOP leader, Chris holbert today warning quite bluntly in his speech saying that, you know, you can't overreach and telling Democrats net chamber that quote, they know better than anyone else. About quote, the risk of alienating constituents and pushing too far. No, yes. This is certainly a theme. We're going to have to watch exactly where you draw the line on overreaches is a moving target those can be difficult, and as, you know, well, it ultimately up to the voters two years from now on in this democratic agenda that will get moving here in a couple of days. Well, said I'll get one more quick question about the legislature. Then I'd like to know a little bit more about the Colorado sun, I know, actually, but I'd like for folks to to hear about it says they can tap into this news source but marijuana. You know, it's it's legal. That's in the constitution. That's not going to change for the foreseeable future. But there have been some reports in newspapers Colorado Rocky Mountain PBS, and others that have highlighted some of the costs that legalize marijuana has foisted on the state of whether it be, you know, black market grows, and that sort of thing is there a sense that the legislature might try to target and mitigate some of those costs. For years. Lawmakers have been concerned about the the black market or even the gray market. The folks that use our legal marijuana system to hide illegal activity. There was new money put in the budget a year or so ago to crack down on that. And so I think you'll see lawmakers take a good look at weather that has made any difference. I've heard them already start to talk about that. But when you talk to the pot industry in Colorado, they're quite excited about what they see in the next two years. I'll have a more detailed story out Monday.
