Former ICE Director Tom Homan Answers the Question: Is the U.S. Border Closed?

"The border is closed according to the man who runs the Department of Homeland Security for the senile old Giza in The White House who sadly bears the title president of the United States. I think I have somebody in studio who begs to differ. We are one on one with none other than that truth teller extraordinaire, former director of ice Tom Holman. Welcome here in America first. Thanks for having me, Seth. Appreciate it. So you were there? For how many years 31? 34 and a half, I'm 35. 34 and a half year serving this nation in numerous facilities, securing the border is the border closed like secretary Mallorca's just said in front of Congress. Absolutely not. And they need to take action. Look, he's under oath. I don't know how he's going to say the borders closed. We all seen the videotape. Look, 600,000 illegal aliens have been released into the country by CBP. 600,000 releases. And that's not counting who ice is releasing at the order of political pointees when the DHS. So at least 600,000 releases that came across that border were released. Many with COVID, manual criminal histories. Add to that, the 400,000 just short of 400,000 galways. Right there as the man

"In and out burger everybody, wait in line and get it. They're really great. So check out In-N-Out burger because they are now being targeted. They're private property has been taken from them without a judge without a ruling by the health department. Now, isn't that an example of exactly where we have been heading? In the last year and a half, we're unelected unknown, health bureaucrats are able then to say, hey, this is not your business. And if you're a small business owner right now, I want you to look at what's happening in and out burger in San Francisco. It's not even that they disobeyed the mandate for their employees to be vaccinated. It's worse than that. It's that the San Francisco health department says you are not adequately enforcing our mandate. It's not just that you disagree with it. It's that you are not employing it. You're not using your own salaried workers as a pretorian guard as to act as if In-N-Out burger announced now needs to be checkpoint Charlie. To go cross between east and West Berlin. That in order to get a burger in animal fries in downtown San Francisco now here's the great point to kind of circulate all this. It's takes more identification it takes more proving of your identity there is more focus on the paperwork to get animal fries in San Francisco than there is to walk into our country through the southern border.

Conservatives Believe Happiness Is a Choice

"We as conservatives believe that happiness is a choice. I'll let you guys determine if my wonderful comrades here are happy or not. We are. We're happy. Regardless of how bad things are falling apart in our country. We're happy to be alive. We're thankful for our existence. Happiness is a choice. If you go around trying to find happiness, all of a sudden you'll seek pleasure over virtue. If you try to go find happiness as a state, it's nonsense. And we as Christians are commanded to be joyful and all circumstances. And this is a very important point because sometimes in the northeast, this message doesn't go over well, because it's kind of a gruff group of people in the northeast at times. Sometimes you don't see the sun like half the year. I get it. It's hard. No, instead, happiness is a choice. It's a state of mind. It's something that you must commit yourself. You must work at it too. You must say, man, what am I thankful for today? And I'm not trying to diminish suffering. Let me be very clear. Everybody here has something you're going through. And it's a serious thing. And if there's a way that we can help you, I pray that that will show itself in that way. But that's not to say, what does it mean to live a fulfilling life to walk around always looking at something worthy of protesting, tearing down, deconstructing, disassembling or saying, man? If I made these ten choices if I stop drinking, if I stop doing drugs, if I stop complaining, maybe my life will improve a little

The American Voter Will Turn Against Biden Policies

"So you were telling me about your somewhat optimistic that the American voter will not continue to vote for these policies that are destroying the economy? Yes, I think it's very difficult for people to ignore the price at the gas tank. It's very difficult to ignore the prices at the grocery store if they've even got some things on the shelves that you can purchase. I think what people are facing day to day is very, very negative for President Biden. And it's showing up in the polls. He's about to look at the RealClearPolitics average he's about 8 and a half points underwater positive versus negative ratings and Rasmussen hasn't done around 42% quinnipiac down around 40. Those are the kind of polling numbers that are very, very damaging in the election. I spoke in Cleveland to a group of about 200 people last week. And I went pretty hard to President Biden the speech and I warned people I was going to do that Cleveland's my hometown. And I really thought I'd get some blowback from the audience afterwards. People supporting Biden and criticizing Trump. I got just the opposite. These people were mad. I mean, they were they were actually more critical of President Biden than I was. So I think there is a movement out there maybe not in the heart of New York City or Los Angeles. But I think in flyover, America there's very serious resentment for what's going on on how it's affecting people's lives.

Students in China Are 'Crushing It' Academically

"We had some wonderful supporters of the show, callers listeners who gave a very large donation to one of our charities last year. So we invited them here to have lunch with me. They came into the studio last week. And I didn't know anything about them upset their great supporters. They just returned from four years in China, where they were running an international school day. It's a bit like, you know, the Soviet Army, an international school has to have a Chinese headmaster and a western headmaster. This lady was the western principle and her husband was one of the teachers. And she told me this story her students were just absolutely to use the vernacular crushing it academically. And they were traveling to Oxford in Cambridge, being given scholarships going to the best schools, all of them getting the best grades in the stem subjects. None of them started the humanities. It was all biology, mathematics, engineering, and so forth. And they just dominating the global academic environment. Isn't that indicative? It's not Parton parcel of this worldview that the current regime has and how the people beneath the regime are gobbling up global assets. 11 million Chinese kids take the college entrance exam each year. That's a gaucho. 50% of them are going to get university places. In other words, the Chinese government sets the threshold for failure at 50% because they know that's going to give the maximum motivation to their kids. And they work their hearts out for years, only half of them will pass. That is a brutal and ruthless meritocracy. The devil takes the hindmost. Here, we can't tolerate failure. Every kid's got to be above average. Everyone's equaled some are more equal than others, and we people who have a political lobby behind their particular ethnicity or sexual orientation. And whereas the Chinese tend to major as you said, in the stem subjects, take the toughest stuff, only 7% of our kids take engineering. We graduate 40,000 mechanical engineers a year. That's why Tim Cook says he can't build an iPhone in the United States. So the Chinese think the world is going to be there. They're on all of what the United States used to be. And they want to be the United States of 1890 crushing Britain and eating Britain's

The Mystery of America's Current Labor Shortage

"There's a mystery out there, and you can help us solve it. Some of you have an idea of how we can answer this question together. I think I have a good idea of what is happening, but I don't have the complete picture. But I definitely know the problem, and we're going to talk about the problem together, and then we're going to figure out what exactly the main reason the driving reason is and then what I think their solution is going to be. Wall Street Journal writes this piece and it's exactly what we've been saying on our team because we're traveling the country and we saw the most bizarre thing yesterday. So The Wall Street Journal has the piece where did all the workers go? So we are in loudon county and we on our way to Vermont, and we asked ourselves the question we said, why are the Starbucks? And again, some people on our team love Starbucks, I know I'm going to get blown up by that but whatever. Go to second vote dot com and learn how terrible Starbucks actually is second vote dot com. Promo code Charlie to get some money off. Starbucks were closing at ten a.m. in Northern Virginia. They were open for 5 hours. They could not find the workers to keep Starbucks open. We went to Cheesecake Factory last evening after our event. And I kid you not, there must have been what 20 tables that were not wiped off are cleared on our way. They said that they have only half of their workers showing up to work. I went to a place in Phoenix Arizona last weekend protein house, great place, if you're in Phoenix you should check it out. It's a terrific restaurant. Two great conservative Christian patriots that run that place. And they said that they are paying people as cashiers, $17 an hour, and they can't get people to do the work. $17 an hour, and they just kind of show up whenever they want to show up they do whatever they want. We are hearing about this labor crunch all across the country. People are calling it a tight job market a strict job market and I can't quite figure it out. Now before you email me freedom at Charlie Kirk dot com you say, well, Charlie, it's obviously the stimulus payments, those have stopped. Charlie's obvious the generous unemployment benefits. Those have stopped they're still continuing in certain states, nowhere like where they used to be. Or Charlie, it's all this, so let's work. There's lots of different elements to this. There is no obvious answer. If you think you got the obvious answer to this, then email me freedom at Charlie Kirk dot com because I'm genuinely interested. There is a labor shock and shortage that we've never seen before.

The Power of Natural Immunity From COVID

"What is important for me to tell you is that I believe that what I had decided to do over the course of the last year and a half, I believe has been justified. I wanted to achieve natural immunity, which is by far the more robust immunity that one can have against the COVID or any virus. As Morton mccary, Marty Mackay, professor Johns Hopkins school of medicine, and the Bloomberg school of public health and the editor in chief of med page today wrote in The Washington Post, natural immunity to COVID is powerful policy makers seem afraid to say so. More than 15 studies have demonstrated the power of immunity acquired by previously having the virus. A 700,000 were person study from Israel to weeks ago this is a few months ago. Found that those who had experienced prior infections were 27 times less likely to get a second symptomatic COVID infection than those who were vaccinated. Did you hear that? 700,000 person study in Israel, 27 times less likely than vaccinated people.

Secret Joe Manchin ‘Agreement’ With Chuck Schumer Leaves Democrats Scrambling

"I was unaware of the mansion letter to Schumer, and you report that House Democrats were too. Would you tell us what that letter was and why I didn't know about it and White House Democrats are upset about it? Well, a couple. This has been out for a while actually political did break the letter story a long time ago. Joe Manchin and Chuck Schumer had a kind of secret agreement so to speak basically where Manchin said he would only spend the 1.5 trillion of the reconciliation bill. Here's what I would fake you. And I think you know this and I think a lot of people are beginning to realize it. A majority is only as strong as its weakest link, right? It's most conservative or most liberal member. And Joe Manchin is the linchpin for everything Democrats want. And so people can demonize him, which is fine. You're allowed to have a you're allowed to have one is allowed to have opinions about lawmakers. But anything they want to get done has to go through Joe Manchin and that's just something they need to become more and more comfortable with. So there is a trillion and a half dollar cap. It's called the mansion cap. Now I miss the letter, I missed the whole story. I knew that Joe Manchin has always been upset with the idea of three and a half trillion, but he voted to advance it. So I thought, so I missed the entire story. I read about it in punch bowl. Why did they not just from the beginning, deal with it? If Joel, if you got 50 votes and 50 against you, you've got to have match and mansion says a 1 trillion 5 and then cinema underneath that cap has her own demands as to every other Democrat in the Senate. They should have been I agree. I thought it was crazy for them to vote for three and a half $1 trillion budget. Not because it was three and a half trillion, but because they never were going to three and a half trillion. So I don't know why they got themselves all ends up for that. But the left wanted 6 trillion or 10 trillion. So, you know, that's kind of the reality they were facing. And now they have to deal with that. They have to deal with the fallout from that.

I spent a lot of time in Vegas, I spent a lot of time in New Orleans and horse been living here for about 15 years and I always knew more and more bachelorette parties were here. But over the weekend, it got confirmation of just how crazy it was. Friend of mine was in town to spend the weekend, so we went out grabbed dinner and then went over to her hotel and just going to hung out in the lobby area the atrium area, if you will, and just kind of chatted for a while, and every time we look at the door, another bachelorette party either on their way in or on their way out, I think in the time we were there, I saw maybe a half a dozen different bachelorette parties coming either in or out. Now maybe some duplicates, but I don't think so. But what amazed me? That was just one hotel. One of hundreds of hotels we have here in Nashville. "Arranger because the rangers. You don't understand. I don't understand the off. Well pre-ordered prearrange is actually not a word prearranged i think well you know it's pre-arranged were my prearrange. I thought i'd work. It doesn't work. Whatever i don't care nobody's listening. They're not winners. they're not always effort man. That's all i could say. There's one game on the slate today. it's bad and world. Rodriguez is pitching at somebody. Probably that lefty. Who who's really weird. Nestor cortez right like he likes stops. It's like a nineteen seventy. Louis tian from the left side stuff Rodriguez making three starts this period about that. He's only pitcher. I believe he's doing that. Yeah in the league's account. Eleven days they all know mathematically can yes they may not be great starts not having a great season. Well he's got to yankees in those. That's the catch. And i think it's toronto in toronto for the middle class. No that's a no for me. Yankees are all right handed. I am doing it. I've got a league where i've got that lock and i'm doing it because i need the volume okay. What else here of the of the few starting pitchers listed. This'll be a quicker thing here. Espn plus on friday. Night has eli morgan. cleveland against somebody on oakland I don't think i want to. I'm morgan on a fancy team. Do you absolutely not but cleveland. At least getting some of the healthier guys back They throw exactly back and he's healthy and tries to. Mackenzie is back for the monday game. I believe it is. Let me confirm that for you and we should note that there are two doubleheaders on friday. Minnesota detroit miami philadelphia so they start earlier in the day. So if you're lock is friday it's not it's seven oh five to ten. Pm remember it's gonna lock your non yankees and red sox on today days right friday but like i believe where locks at the first game so multiple league back most of my leagues locked that way So it was pretty rough on. Tv's at least half of the the starting assignments this weekend are still tv at the time of taping. You guys can tweet us all you want like if boston. New york is rained out tonight. I don't think it's going to be like data lock for the week and a lot most leagues. That's just the way it is like. They can't just stop that your players are locked in when that happened so you can ask me interesting. But we can't do anything about that comes down to the probability of relays saturday. Nothing on our air but welcome beulah colorado. I know i've asked you this a bunch but you don't take out top twenty starting pitchers just because a pitching in denver. Especially against that offense correct you estimate down the innings. They usually just don't get as many innings for the batters faced of the forecast grades. Give him at least of the assigned guys so far the number two best pitcher throwing this weekend even course also saturday i'd brazil. La against arizona. It's not a good team. Twenty fifth among qualifiers in chase rate which is pretty good ahead of sherzer. Giolito kind of interesting there you in illinois now chase right. I'm not sure that's a positive. Because that means he might be fooling guys but if they get a little wiser like they have over the final couple of weeks. The all star break. I have not been impressed by the way i like. What he's done with the slider this season arizona's a good match up. But i'm on offense. Their face philadelphia and his manager. Who can't get anything right. Sat down hoskins and mccutchen. Put in brad miller who with three home runs in that game because a as numbers against lefties just horrid yeah it worse than like an average right handed starting pitcher. Yep basically is like shutdown right hander. But he's giving up fifteen homers the left with a high slugging and then brad miller took him deep. He's got one great against right. He's a nine for the lefties. It's i mean that is among the whitest out there. Really parole detroit and alex cobb of the angels both pitch saturday and enticing matchups home against minnesota peralta which i never would say and then seattle for alex cop. Are you interested in either of these. Gentlemen cobb yeah well. I'm sort of cornered into using them. Home game seattle. That's a good matchup shirt. Gimme the who's the other guy. Well you mentioned peralta really peralta. Wily peralta so yeah. That's i've got an a-league where i just don't have enough bodies to fill the lineup. So i put in a claim just because it's volume. I beyond that on. No no way saying i baseball and espn's at yankee stadium against our. Nick is on sunday night. Baseball the former philly fina against somebody on the yankees ripa that a lot because of the phillies angle here. Because he couldn't do nothing for my team but like colour and now he's fine but i still think he's fine. I gotta tell you like i. Where do you rank the about him on your top fifty starting pitchers. I don't think you'd do your your little too much of a hater on panetta. But you're also onto the fact that it's a hint mirage ish and this is not a good match for him. No to yankee matchups if you have the extended period to We also camera valdez on sunday. I mean pretty much. Every astros starting pitcher at this point is fine is good good enough to go. We'll see what they do. You know mixing and matching innings in the second half for luiz garcia and all that but Fulton average mu. Patrick sandoval. He's been on. Espn plus against seattle left. He's been getting strikeouts. Yeah he's pitched all right in the grade. Say that he's worthwhile if you're in on cobb. There's no reason you shouldn't be on santa. all is well home game seattle. That's favorable time to bring in kyle. He's always favorable. For trivia and hashbrowns. People were tweeting are saying that. Where was the trivia in our last show. And i just don't have a good answer to that botched giving a trivia question for aj. I don't know that gave the answer. And i'll be honest. I have to go back and find out what the question was. I've got one area Things going on last show. There wasn't one last show so we got to forty two today. I got one got one today. I want you to the name. The two pitchers allowed least twenty homers. But have any are under four. That is my trivia question. We'll get to in a minute when we come back to answer that after hashbrowns mike is getting frustrated with joe musco. He wants to know if you'd looked to move on from him with the sub three e. r. a. And so what sort of outfielder should he be looking for us. Grove has a big strikeout rate and his numbers are fine. I mean it's it's a very low hit rate which i don't know if he can sustain in the second half the season but the strikeout-to-walk great pitching well me left these writings home away. Everything looks good here. It's just recently had a couple of blowups one at cincinnati But i mean isn't joe must grow a top ferdie starting pitcher. I think so as a matter of fact that can make a case. He's top twenty starting pitcher and have ranked them as that barely of granted. My concern is he's been a little bit too breaking ball reliant this year and i wonder whether that's caught up with him over the past couple of weeks and i just hope that he adjusts that going forward that he hasn't lean. Remember the no hitter in the no hitter. He went almost entirely to the breaking pitches. I mean rates down from last season. Small sample is babette is ridiculously low. There's some hit. You know babba magic going on here but i still look at. Most grove is a guy should have like a one twenty. Whip the rest of the season with a three fifty year. Ray so he's not going to put the same numbers he has now yet when he gets enough strikeouts were i think he's a top thirty starting pitcher..

"Twenty two with the information we have. Today he has no chance of being my number one player There's no way. I'm putting on a head of a guy like todd. There's no no chance of putting out of soda. there's no way put him ahead of ladd guerrero And probably some of the pitchers either because even if he was ready on opening day. I don't know that he's going to be at peak. Form does he. Steal as many basis. That's a big part of his fantasy game so just just bear it in mind. I think that there's going to be some risk. And even if things are positive going spring training ally would take the conservative approach. Schulman i see your point about not even putting them in the top ten that is a possibility dynasty wise not number one just because of the time missed. But that's it. I don't think this is gonna hurt his long-term careers. A young guy is plenty of time to come back in a year from now year from today he could be at his previous form. But by this time yeah a calculation it stinks and by the way land has lost their entire starting outfield from opening day. And right now. They're going with former brewer. Shortstop orlando arcia in left field. And it's not like he's a hitter. Guillermo heredia here adrian. Perhaps we'll see christian pasha soon entrance the already. That's a met. That's the worst outfield in the major leagues. Right now and we don't know when they're leftfielder slugging leftfielder is going to return may not return at all because even when he's healthy he's got some off field issues there so and we need to get the the off field issues ever so briefly here on the dodgers right hander. Who was in the top tier before the season. And i'm shocked by this but his administrative leave has been extended. So i ask you this. I think it's a reasonable question. And i hate asking you but in a redraft league. You need the bench space. Do you actually drop that. Dodgers right hinder. Yeah i think that is now on the table in a standard mix league attend teamer. Maybe even a twelve team or a shallower with no bench. I look we have no idea how long this is gonna take. They have the opportunity to extend administrative leave again. And we raise the fact that this is a complete gray area with no history. On that i would say that that we have no right to expect that either. He or as soon as going to come back anytime in the foreseeable future moving on of means on the angels. Do you care now other than daily opportunities against weak ratings. But he's probably not as bad as his numbers were on the white sox but he's a player at this stage of his career. I just find it hard to believe that a guy who was productive in two thousand nineteen just fall apart just like that so the angels are in an interesting spot where while they have other injuries they could pair phil gosselin and eating in a perfect tune. I mean that's that's the ideal thing you wanna do. When you have this little death away. Joe adele and nobody ever questioned the power. You wanna see some plate discipline. I mean that's not not strengthening in the right direction. There hilo jimenez. The white sox started his. Rabbi sinement might see him in two weeks. I think we might as well. Yeah and he's another guy who was a must have and i believe last i checked. He's just under forty percent available on. Espn legs which is a lot and should not be the case. He needs to be easily over ninety percent by tomorrow and check out. I mentioned his excellent dynasty rankings and twenty twenty-five team. You know you've been doing this for a long time. So i wanna ask you an obviously wrote wrote about it in your lead. But how do you come up with is. How do you decide which of these players like. It's easy to say. Vlad is going to be on that team but if brouhaha on we'd barely seen so how'd you decide whether you're going to go with a shortstop or middle infielder who is like like establish ozzy albee's trevor story type or a bobby witt wrote bruin who we haven't seen yet. They majors like you're assuming they're going to be great. I'm assuming they're gonna be great but for vanity purposes. Is it a little bit of a reached. You feel safe in your knowledge of this or what. no. I don't feel safe at all because there's gonna be one person on that team who is a complete disaster pick. That's just what happens. Every one of these. All four years ahead teams that i've done since i started writing and i mean i do them every single year but i think starting back in the two thousands There's usually one is a complete disaster. That's just the nature prospects. But for me i take the after going through the dynasty ranks. Where it's a five year and somewhat plus a projection. I look just for the peaks and if in five years players at a reasonable age for major league success and i consider does upside up there. That's when i put him on the team there's also the case were making the selections. I sometimes do it. Because i want to get a note in there about a player. You mentioned brew han. I put brouhaha on the team for an important reason. I kind of look at him as a little adalberto monetization that other than the fact that the plate discipline discipline is completely different. What if brew. Han is a stolen base. Filler not to the level of monty was but thirty five steals and does it with the exceptional plate discipline that he could have at that that level with some pop doesn't he belong to team in twenty twenty five which i absolutely i mean. It's a little bit of a leap to say he's going to get there. But i think it's very interesting call. You made their hopefully the is important as well. And i love the fact that you got the van de boys pitchers on that list as well as well. It's a little bit of dreaming here and you put otani at the age. You know in five years tiny might be there everyday right fielder for the angels. I mean that arm i mean. That's a prototypical rightfielder right. Their power arm. Ellis valentine arm with power. I mean my goodness. I attorney was a guy i just wanted to get on the team somewhere. He does deserve it. But the and i wrote this about him. I might have the year on that. Big year. might be twenty twenty four or maybe twenty twenty seven. But he's going to have another year like this i. I don't know how this let me get your projected. His home run total. What do you think. There's a tiny fifty. Does he at sixty. I mean look what he's doing so far. I mean it's incredible what he's doing and i'm optimistic. Unlike you. i think he's gonna be healthy forever. Give me has final home. Run total number. Does he lead the league in home runs. I think glad passes but yeah i don't think he's going to lead the majors in homers. I think he's getting to fifty without much trouble I've ranked him accordingly that. I do think there's reason for confidence. I actually at this stage would say with what's left next year is the year i'm out. I think he is going to be dramatically overpriced next year relatives to what he can contribute to you and the risk that he's had up to this point is career but let's say it's nineteen hours. So are you trying to insinuate. You will not rank otani in your top ten for next season. i probably will. I'm saying that. I will do it with great hesitation and if i find more confidence in the other guys. I'm going to push him out of there for those because it's because it's going to come into the research because right now i've got a top four of like not soto vlad otani i'm like i think those four stand out overall the rest mookie. Eight their trout ain't there coons gone. You could make the case for the. But i didn't i would put the gromit i would portray. Turner had him for next year. Returner belongs probably there as well because that's a lot of power that we expect might be as well must move on. It's time for combat meals. Please sing it sir..

"Net and gavin williams to cleveland. I saw him phase vanderbilt last month and he looked great. Cleveland does a great job with their starting young starting pitching so to me that draft for fantasy purposes about the right handed power starting pitchers but not just the van boys the other guys as well. What are your thoughts now. I would agree with that. Because i think they can move quickly and i think pitching is inclined to move a lot more quickly. These days so i actually would make the case that rockers upside more than i do lighters. I think lighter is the more locked in safe kinda guy. They're both going to be excellent prospects in time. I let the thought about maybe pushing him to the majors down the stretch because the meta are struggling. The four five spots will see. How noah syndergaard's recovery goes. I think that might play a little bit into it. Rocker was one of the gifts. The other one was marcella matter going to the red hats. A number four overall. I mean that is a gift. Now he is gonna take a long while. It's why you don't even see a whisper of him in either the two piece. I did the dynasty three hundred or the old twenty twenty-five team. Because i don't see him getting to that level for fantasy but if you're in one of those drafts there's deep deep deep dynasty leagues that have the first year player. I think meyer belongs meyer. Mayor think it's mayor belongs in that early category. And you're right. I do think that those big right handed power arms are going to be the the guys you want in the short-term yeah i think you're looking at short versus long term fantasy purposes if you're an identity format though you want the right handed power pitcher and you hope they become aces. That's how i look at the davis thing. The only thing with davis is just the weakness of catcher. It is a tough read from as to where he belongs. I did think about putting him in the ranks just because he was a college catcher and he has great discipline. He had more walks than strikeouts in his final college. Here i don't know i'm i'm torn there. He again didn't make my cut. I think rush into a baltimore is special and a generational catching town. Like buster posey. I don't think there's any other catcher like that right now in seattle just called up this kid cow raleigh. Maybe he's great. We thought francisco me. He was going to be great a couple of years ago. I just be careful with catchers and fantasy francisco alvarez going back to the future scheme the at the home run the messianic nineteen nineteen-year-old catcher. Now you wanna talk about a guy who's hit tool is great and has exceptional discipline. There's to guy there is your guy. Let's move on from the kids here and get into the news of the past weekend ronald kunia that stinks it absolutely stinks and i'm a phillies fan so i don't want to do well but it stinks because this is one of the best players in baseball so exciting and tours. Acl and so. I asked you i've ski. You can drop them in redraft formats for twenty twenty one but if you were going to rank a kunia one two or three for twenty twenty two. Does this change your mind. The it's an acl in july..

"And he is going to pitch the third game for the angels coming out of the all star break and i just i really hope that that he stays perfectly fine on the field for every remaining angels game. I think angels game. I think he will but it worried me ever so slightly soda. Love your take on that one. The fact that he went into those three swings and the tiebreaker match and he he seemed to know exactly what his approach would be was. What i love about him as a hitter. He is a smart guy and the fact that you said if he did what unravel is his wing hit for more power. Bring it on. That is what made vladimir guerrero awesome. This year is that he got more location of the bullets. Four percent of a decrease in ground ball rate for vladimir guerrero. If so does that in the second half he will be an mvp caliber player and a challenger series one for number one of the fantasy Player for for the second half. Don't you think soda is a very legitimate candidate to be the best player in fantasy from today. I think he might win the batting title and hit for power. I think you'd do whatever he wants. Yeah and showed in that in that upper echelon and alonzo you know what it is. I don't think it's just that he built. I think joey gallo is also built to to win the home run derby i think lonzo has the perfect combination of build and approach. I think approach is also very important. I agree and and the other thing i liked about the derby's nobody had a bad derby like sally perez freeman seaney not olsen slow start and then he got moving. I mean like every derby you see a guy with like three home runs the whole round. You didn't see that this week. Everybody did well terrific kudos by the way the fact that it's timed they don't get the breeder in the past. It used to be outs get out. They can take readers but this is kudos to these guys for holding that well performing on a on a time clock. I mean i i get tired after like three rings and my softball games and these guys swinging like fifty times in three minutes. There was like fantastic. Lots of other stuff here to get to look big show. So the kids futures dame was on sunday. I saw some of that. I wonder if you saw any and what your thoughts were. Brennan davis the cubs outfitter. We don't talk about very much as a top prospect. Because he's not but that's a guy he has like a train. Mancini vibe to me like a twenty five homer ninety. rbi guy outfielder. i could see that happening What i really notice with shane. Baz tampa bay is ready right now. Okay he he's going to be in the majors really soon. The only issue and fantasies. I don't know what his role is going to be. Really be a a middle middle innings guy. I doubt he's closing. I'm not sure is starting and throwing seventy five pitches and re detmer the angels. I'm a little bit surprise. He's not in the major now like they need starting pitcher right now. Nemours comes in lefty. Who i don't recall throwing ninety five miles per hour when he was drafted last year. Now he is. He's trying his strike. Rate is unbelievable. Aa with the angels promote them. Straight from a to the majors really soon. That bazant detmer's with the guys. I was like wow look at these guys over power hitters and you know i enjoyed seeing austin martin and bobby witt bobby what i think a little bit low and your dynasty rankings. By the way. I mean they're so. Tristan has his midseason dynasty dynasty rankings. The also has its twenty twenty-five team on the same week. What a banner. Week patricians articles this week and we'll touch on that a little bit. But i i mean. Bollywood looks like a monster to me. Like i think if you're going to rank i don't wanna say he should rank rwanda franker wander. Franco is but from annecy. I think you could make the case. Because he's gonna steal basis and he's going to hit for power and that's what i was going to do so i i almost think now bobby witt deserve the same treatment as wander franck does for fantasy purposes anyway Any other thoughts from you on the in the futures game. I like your take on those two pitchers those are teams that are going to need pitching depth and in the case of the raise they could find an opportunity for us to come contributing in the The louis patino and the shane mcclanahan mold. And maybe that doesn't impact us law for fantasy. But i do think it's gonna be relevant because if they are really pressed into two pitches well the major league level. Maybe he does lockdown. A couple of starts gives you five six to contribute. They're just because he was on the on the team here and he was tearing up in aaa. We talked about a million times. And he is. There's whispers in seattle coming out that he's getting recalled agata. Just mentioned the jared celtic thing. Jarred celtics agai. You got on a roster everywhere at this point. And i'm really surprised. Espn leagues. He's available and sixty percent less for speakers. The impatient vantage managers are on our assuming. He's thinks now because he hit like. Oh ninety six or something opportunity. I i don't see why are our projection on jared. County should have changed at all since march. We think he's going to be great. He struggled for month. He's gonna come back soon. You may be like this weekend. He's going to be a great fantasy asset. I really believe like you've got. Kyle tucker ranked really well in your dentistry. Ranks i count. It deserves almost the same placement tucker. Obviously he's been in the majors proven himself a little bit. He's potential five category guy. Although i doubt it hits for average count. I think is a lot like that i really do. I like your cops here that you're putting those two together. I think that that does comprise tier. I do think the case for wit and franck. Oh i think that's a franco. Frank what am i saying bronco and going back to michael francke who should not be compared wandered michael But yeah wit and franco. They probably also belong. In similar to weight. I really did struggle within the dynasty rankings. And then there was the mlb draft and the surprise. i pick the pittsburgh was the catcher. Henry davis who might be great. He's a really good hitter. But catchers be careful in a fantasy sensor. it's different than in real life. I mean in a fantasy. I still rarely keep catchers or use them for dynasty purposes. Here because you know they get hurt. They get injured sometime sometimes. They don't hit until late in their careers is with the audi molina and sally perez some degree. We're seeing real mouton now. Just an average offensive player this season and possibly because he was hurt. He had a broken thumb back in march. Davis is the first pick you would not be my first pick in a dynasty format here. I think it's the starting pitchers. I can't believe kumar. Rocker filled the number ten to the new york. Mets the venue boys right handers. I mean kumar. Rocker is going to be great. And i think he's the shah a chance. He's up this september for the mets pitching as a starting pitcher. Because they don't have five starting pitchers. I don't know who's going to catch them. In the atlanta just lost their best player. Philadelphia's so average is not even average so the mets could win eighty five games still cruise to the playoffs. And then have to play the dodgers of the giants. But i just kumar. Rocker is going to be great. I think jack lighter may have more upside. I compared to the sunny gray a shorter van de right hander. With strikeout potential so lighter went number two overall to texas. Great home ballpark. Come roger greater say now right because you don't think of texas in the past but you're correct today by the way i think lighter and rocker going to be great but there were other right handed power arms. The went in round one. Who i think if he just as good we'll bedar. I watched him in the college world series. He's he goes the safer. Cisco you can't get a better ballpark. The.

"Fucking about yeah i'll go back and look it up. Moving on sunday schedule has no night game because of the because of the draft really the futures game star during all the games rogers ridiculous it should be on its own futures. Game should be the night game and is renault. Mlb games in the draft should be another nate. But they're not doing it that way. Oh here no. Against nick pavetti. We'll talk revenge like nick profeta. You know what you wanna use them. Advantage be my guest and nabeel shutdown philadelphia. Because he's angry that they let him go so easily. But i can't buy nick can you. Can you really i kinda cabin out of i kinda can and you hear that station. I don't think he's a great option but he's pitched reasonably effectively. He's missing bats. That's what he's supposed to do. I use them here. How about louis. Kostya has been great for the last. Six weeks against brandon. Woodrow fetch would be a lot of fun there and then. John snow's at san diego because ryan weather's maybe they'll let them go five or six innings in that game and then the first half and we will not have a show monday but we will on thursday next week so we'll go one week between shows us bring kyle in now and get your hashbrowns that we will wanna plug one name for the futures draft situation. Casey sake my second cousin supposed to be a top ten round pick or so so that would be cool if he gets gets them shine just wanting to get his. Where's he from rochester. New york you want to school at greece athena so he is a high school kid. High school kid expected to get them run. He's going to virginia if he doesn't you know isn't happy with the draft slot but.

"Hitter. That's typically what i do at this point. The you know that the warm temperatures. I really do think the yankee closer question is a valid one. To what level do you still believe an invest because a top ten closers price right now is pretty high and it's pretty important to make that decision. I think when he gets the straighten out that is his job period. He will be thrown immediately. I mean instantly back into that role. I would trade any top ten closer right now for a bat and a lesser or starter on her lesser closer except maybe haters the exception but hendrix way they're using liam hendriks concerns me. The home runs weirdness. Two innings one outing and then the eighth. It's just weird. What they're doing with him hater. I'm not worried about but every other closer man. Yeah so some degree you know even milan-san who's been great so i mean he's going to get you know another twenty five as in the second half and it's that was Aj mass cash in player. And i don't blame him. i don't blame him either. I'd cash in almost any closer right now and try to get lucky or stream it you know or it's not just to clarify here. That's not a matter of of the giveaway. It's not even selling it ninety cents on the dollar even necessarily at straight value. You need to formulate your saves exit plan. Be really careful about getting caught with saves. you didn't need especially excess. Absolutely you know and it's also possible. That story of arizona stays there and ends up with as many saves in the second half of the season as dead. When the is. You don't know for sure you know. I mean some of these good teams win by more runs than they than you notice you know. That's why milan saying the putters went a lot of close games. But if you look at the save leaders right now. It's kind of interesting to me like you. Don't see normalcy there. that's all. I don't i don't think interest would pick sewri have more safe than the is if we're going to make a projection no of course not but -tuation of the category story could end up getting double digit saves the rest of the year. And you know the yankee closer may not you know so blessing i would trade one for one. I mean sorry is available in every league and rangers. Wars is available mostly. Exactly what's your. What are your ranges for the yankee closer and for sorry i give me the low in the high end for each of them for the same dog. Because i know you're big on the projected numbers because soya get five saves from the rest of the way. Yes the yankee. Closer i think is hard. I think it's obvious something's wrong with him. You have that many walks and everything be okay so i i don't mean to like the as is eighteen saves i don't think surrey is gonna but he might only get ten the rest of the way too. Yeah so you look at their starting pitching. Now they have pittsburgh by seven straight times coming up so he's going to get a couple of saves there but i don't know i mean like either cleveland. Closer right now. They have eleven and nine clause a in korean check. you know. i can see a scenario where kindle gray gets more saves in that i could see a scenario where i guess hustle robots have. He's untradable you know could end up with that. Many saves surly trevino could get that many saves us at the way. I guess rangers worse could jordan. Romano could soria could. That's the whole point here. Is that you want to sell high on some of these days because martin is not. He's he's got twenty six saves the breaking inc and fifty two right right. Yeah going back to the fluctuation. First thing i look at it as like an envision the scenario by which taylor rogers who's in partnership closer situation himself and could be traded gets more than both of the san francisco guys gets more than the names that you just mentioned gets more than anybody in the tampa bay bullpen gets more than trevino and gets more than graven. I can see scenario by which that thursday slate has already begun but the phillies are it. Wrigley field on espn apn eastern for the final game of four game set. Kind of a big game. The phillies zach eflin and advert. How's filet a both a little underwhelming. Actually in the era department here But it should be interesting. If the wind's blowing out will definitely be interesting Not sure who i'd rather. I'd probably rather have effluent here. But i you know. I'm a little disappointed in the season. He's been having to be honest with you. Espn plus has tarik. Screwball of detroit. Who shows a lot of promise. This young lefty against jay hap-. Who's an old lefty of minutes. I can't believe minnesota still playing this badly. I i really can't like it's hard to believe how bad the wins have been the season by far the biggest disappointment base. I think Huge shirts or at should be fun. That's the last game of the night. I definitely wanna watch that alec minoa at baltimore. Seems like a can't miss when you say i've mentioned before the baltimore has some pieces that threatened but i like manolas stuff more here. So i'm gonna go against that ballpark situation. Where that number grades below average say. Yeah he's a start from me tonight on. Espn plus vince. Velazquez more phillies. At fenway park against garrett richards who's been awful scene. Saw the sticky stuff went away. Not saying look every pitcher was using it but guy. Richards is not pitch roll since then. He's had a reinvent himself he told reporters this garrett cole is pitching on friday night what do you expect there. He's accusation okay. So obviously a revenge game for him and cole has been giving a lot of home. Runs and spin rate is way down. Do you still project cole. And your top tier of starting pitchers the top tier originally before the season was obviously degrom and coal and bieber and bauer right at the top. Sierra was clearly and four so if it was the first group of tier one bauer was like a one. A darvish could have made that case. Then you got to the next chunk of players. Can you make a case.

"Due to do. It's the closer carousel all right. So we did our last show on tuesday and not a whole lot has happened since then. Although trevor rosenthal who a lot of people thought was going to be a top ten closer our hands arrays as well is officially done for the season. Hip surgery is pending yankees. Go to chad green for the save on wednesday. I think that was predictable. Maybe they give chapman the weekend off. Maybe chapman doesn't go to the all star game There's lots of guys who could replace worldwide woody. He's pitching so badly right now. Something's obviously either physically or mentally or mechanically wrong. I'm not trying to be facetious. Something's wrong something's definitely wrong. I mean he. He pitches the tuesday game. Yeah it was. It was an irrelevant relevant split in the in the score at the time and he walked two batters. I believe in that game still control issues. Something's clearly amiss. So that's why. I said pickup chad green. Maybe i'll get some saves. maybe as an injury list pending here Any other situations that changed. Marlins went to bender on On wednesday night and he blew it But he's still really good. And i think for the rest of the season i wanna write a piece next week about The second half closers preview. And i think i might say the is more valuable more value than you may garcia. I actually think benders going to be there closer for miami. The final two plus months. The fact that it's now two opportunities on garcia's night off and garcia's pitch very ineffectively over seventy ira. Since may i. i'm with. You can make that case just when you thought. Scott barlow was safe and kansas city. Pitch yesterday like sixth-inning so there's no safety in kansas city Unbelievable just unbelievable. They give them a couple of weekends. Saves athenee puts him in the sixth. I know he's trying to win the game. And he's his best pitcher. Yep and zimmer started to give up some runs of lay it just man so frustrating trying to figure it out and fancy who's going to get the saves and then something like that happens and you don't know you had one more to mention with cincinnati and your guy heath henry who blew it one night. He got the opportunity the next night. The managers confidence play and he pitched well in it. I think he is going to keep getting saves or save. Chances is as inevitable. You're going to give up home runs. I mean he's worse than hector narrows who gives up home runs and every- is going to give up home runs last year. I mean look. He's going to give up on so let's leave it at that. It's a temporary thing. But but they're they're giving them opportunities. I don't think it is i. I honestly don't think it is. I think you know it. We're still weeks away. Maybe four weeks from seeing lucas. Sims and tj antone. So i don't think it's i think i think embry. And and embry and the lefty mir garrett are gonna really well lately he's pitch virus they're gonna share it i think i. I don't think there's anything else we need to discuss. Because nothing else is really going on. We dealt with of suarez. Josh hader bluish save no big deal and detroit. You don't care about arizona got to saves this month that clearly walking sar story is clearly there. Close yeah i know. I can't believe it. They had to saves before we get to the schedule. And the pictures to watch for the next because this weekend. A funding here from From kyle a little category regress or reinvest is the first category. Have these players. Change your mind enough. In the first african to be buying their current trajectory or is the regression monster. Coming together in three three players for you. Taiwan walker i think. Ob the ground replace because the mess will have an also grandma's go kyle gibson who i think was bad yesterday and nicosia knows who's still plan really great killing righties pitching as well. Regress or reinvest on these regional collie is still two of these guys from the the hash brown question the other day and i think we were pretty firm on trying to cash in the gibson ship. I i'm about wowed. By taiwan walker. But i do lean towards believing and i'm in the castanos there's no am cashing in that chip by f- you know i'm a castanos fan. You know he's not gonna win an nfl mvp. But his team made a run. He could make a run like his numbers there. Yes if the reds were a game behind the brewers you could see a scenario where nicolaas is a potential envy pecan nationally. Because i mean burnett leads the player raider right now overall. And the padres are obviously and contention. So i think the teaser degrom would be probably grow would be the mvp choices at this point right there as well. I mean if it's fifty home runs to he he might win it. Atlanta makes her comeback. Mets are still allowing teams to be in the race but the national league really is going to be interesting to both leagues. because otani versus vlad. That's going to be lots of fun as well. The whoever has more home runs maybe but otani if it keeps pitching well. I i don't know how how you can't give it to him anyway. I agree with you on that. The next category here is rebound or reject buying low and hoping for a rebound or selling it hopes as name holds more weight than a rough. First-half reese stretch the names are charlie blackmon. Anthony rizzo and the yankee closer who we already discussed he. Probably will rebound. He just needs a week off but blackman areso. I'm not sure i'm reinvesting here. I don't think i'm expecting a rebound in the second half for rather one. I mean rizzo against ryan pitching's bedding to thirteen my goodness. Yeah yeah he starting to fall into kind of a split situation which is bothersome at that age. It shows the the downward agent curve. I want to believe in both of these guys. I think that the name brands are going to keep the price too high for my taste. I'd probably lean towards the rockies.

"Your rant. Please tell us why there is no such thing as a homerun derby jinx and then. I'll copy it right it on monday. The problem with the argument is cherry picking. It is a cherry picking argument. There are examples. You can throw out there and people do it. Regularly believe david wright was one of them think ryan howard was back in the day. There's actually josh. Bell was one of them that i can think of the overriding history. Shows that the all star game really doesn't do very much. Most players who do regress already had regression due to them in the homerun categories. So just be really careful not to buy into that. But i do understand. There's this big chatter going on about shohei ohtani being on the roster as both a pitcher and a hitter envy's in the homerun derby end it's colorado end the altitude. I get it. You talked about that. It does worry me a little bit but not to the level of panic that people make this whole homerun derby curse. It's nonsense it's nonsense. As the man in curse i know i say these things are real israel and totally kidding. So a swing does not get messed up just because somebody takes fifty seventy five swings on on monday night. I don't i don't think swing gets messed up as we can get messed up at any time yet. But i don't think it's because of the homerun derby you can if you allow it. But i don't in our smart enough to not let this happen. I mean i. I don't know anyway while on soda since i wrote my article this week about not having power has hit for a lot of power. He's now on the homerun derby So the the derby crew is otani. Who's the number one seed. pete lonzo. Who wanted twenty nineteen An nfl player has won it for the past five But i don't think that means much trevor story. The hometown guy trae mancini awesome. Sal perez was. Let's not catcher is in this Matt olsen who you love. And i love to juan soto and joey gallo who i think's gonna hit daily entities i actually gala will hit the even. If he doesn't hit a million he'll seventy five distance. Yeah oh yeah he might hit one. Five hundred fifty five seventy five. I i liked the derby better than the game because to me the derby. They're taking it seriously. They're trying to win but in the game. You know you're gonna see the starters play one at bat to it bat you know. The pitchers get warning or one matter. And then in the ninth inning. You know nothing against these guys but you got like you know. I don't want to name any names. But you got like borderline all stars deciding the all star game. It doesn't count for anything. Which i thought was a joke when going to counter for home field advantage so i like the derby my favorite part of the home run of the all star games. Actually the introductions. I love to see us each player. And i i used to love them in their own. Jerseys they're ruining that this year. I think but in their own jerseys because again growing up you didn't get to see anybody from the tree and you know it was fun. Oh there's allen tramway never get to see him play. I it you know. It's not the same right now but Anyway i'll watch because it's fun. But i think the derby's a little bit why i loved the derby as a matter of fact i'll characterize it as delightful nonsense. It is absolutely delightful. I agree and then by the way sunday. We should talk about this a little bit. I wrote about it today. The futures game is on mlb network on sunday afternoon and then the the draft is right after that and both are really important. I mean the futures game. I wrote about your yankee guy today. The eighteen year. Old jason dominguez mainly because our editors said he's sick of you talking about the yankees so i wrote that i've never seen jason dominguez actually playing a game. Nobody has. he's only played five games in his life here. And you know 'cause he's only been in the gulf coast league or whatever they call it now for a week but dominguez their says younger brothers. They're all the a lot of the top prospects. Oddly rush men spence rhetorical. Seen bo seattle outfielders and logan gobert is a lot of talent in this futures game. It's really a loaded bunch because they didn't have one last year so watch the futures game. I'll probably write about it for monday. And then the drafts. It's all about to me. Were rocker and lighter go. But they're still not pitching in the majors next year. But we can talk about that. Actually you know. I can get your opinion now. In this like for dynasty purposes a lot of leagues actually do a draft after the amateur draft. So i mean. I guess it's not like basketball or football where you have to see where they go for value in football. You know a team with already. An established running back takes another one. Know one of them dynasty. Right away basketball. Yeah you could tell. Gaza going to take longer baseball. Everybody takes a long time so between lighter and rocker. The vanderbilt right hinters. Do you have an opinion on who. You'd rather take in tennessee purpose. yeah i do. I've been struggling with us. And i'm going to start by teeing up that along with the futures game in mlb draft stuff on sunday. They all twenty twenty-five team is coming out coming out that day so i'm bringing back that piece. In addition to the dynasty three hundred which comes out next week and there will be players in both that includes the draft. That will be on that team. I have struggled a lot as to which direction i would go with lighter and rocker. I feel like there's a higher ceiling to me for rocker than there is for later. I think that lighters that consistency. Kinda guy the he gives you an era nola or slightly better type of career. He's not quite the very best in the game but he is an excellent excellent pitcher. Maybe there is something smart to go with the safety. I like shooting for the upside. Lighter reminds me a sunny gray the side with school. he's going to miss a lot of bats. Yup i don't know about the amazing. Is there. But i wanna see you know if he goes the pittsburgh. That's a great home pitchers park. So i wanna see that you know rocker. They're saying fenway that would affect his. Anyway i i in this case i would go for pitchers over hitters but i wanna see where everybody lands because the top hitter's of their high school guys take you longer anyway. Darn good though. Well marcello myers the one that stood out to me based on the hit tool. I like to draft based on the hit tool. But you're right high school.

shohei ohtani jason dominguez pete lonzo trae mancini Sal perez Matt olsen juan soto joey gallo ryan howard david wright allen tramway otani logan gobert josh Bell trevor colorado mlb network nfl israel

"I'm going to keep him around by do think he can contribute down the stretch free. I don't you think he got at least the capability of top twenty out all seems very positive on illinois him in as now. I think that people that dumped him in april. We're going to regret it and let me quickly ask because it affects one of my teams the atlanta leftfielder who is on the deal with the finger and ended something he shouldn't have. Would you cash him in right now. I have him in leno. Labor at like twenty five bucks. But i'm gonna keep him. I think and and maybe he'll produce september but again he he could be suspended so i have to ask you whether you you really have that option. He has to be sixty day detailed. Or l i think he is. I don't think he's sixty day all. I think he's restricted list than if he is. You can't do it or would you drop them in an espn standard. Then right. this goes to so for wars you can. I believe if the players on the injured list or on the sidelines for an extended period. Cut the player and get fab. I would yes. That's another case of gray area. I lean towards it being lengthier because we just don't know these things and they have not historically been getting settled very quickly. There's no reason that that. mlb should race through it. i would cashman. Yeah all right moving on now. Let's talk about hitters of the per- hitters of the first half was on monday. Show otani in vlad pitcher the first half you know jacob degrom is number one guy for points leagues and on the player reiter. Kevin gaza was like fifteen th round pick. Freddie peralta up there on chris bassett's having a great season. I just have a tough time going against the ground for this. Even though he was a first round pick an arguably the first pitcher taken in a moment every draft. You agree with that. He's putting up historic numbers. I wouldn't fight you on that. I will pick kevin guzman just based on you know. And you've said this many times it's the value relative to cost on draft day. It was a large divide between these two players. That's the only reason. I personally pick osmond. But i think it's clearly one of those too by the way could us zack. Wheeler for a very big year. Zack wheeler has had an exceptional year. That i don't think he's getting enough kudos for well last night might have cost them a start in the all star game so degrom is not going to go to denver for the all star game. He wants to and he he should he should be focusing on the mets. Frankly maybe taiwan walker will be the replacement and then wheeler started last night at wrigley field and his defense again. Let them down And his manager probably so but we'll have a great first half of the season. And i like to see him in the all star game. When i was growing up. I used to love the also game because i would see my player and we could watch every gate okay. The only chance we have was like monday night baseball. Abc tbs of the atlanta team. And then i would watch the phillys. Wgn you could get the cubs cubs but you know like in the like it was cool. I would watch schmid e every day. Carlton but in the all star game i could see. Oh that's a guy. I've never seen before you know. There's alvin davis just an example. Like or like bob horner. You know like he didn't get to see everybody and you never got to see like you were nail guys yankee i was. I didn't get to see american league players like marching back. Then i love the all star game just to watch tim raines play. Yeah because you didn't get to see the montreal players new york yankees fan. That just wasn't going to happen the only time if you watch some of those mets games when they came to town i didn't even know where seattle was growing up and then like they have a full team. Toronto has a baseball team. And i'm like oh. I wanna see their players and i don't remember how was seeing bruce bach the all star game but maybe he was there to help build your ship now. Seattle being your new team right well. That and and baseball cards baseball cards was the other way it was like seeing like mariner. But then you know. Like oh here comes bruce bach these and all star at seventy nine or whatever and then that was the game day. Parker throw are wasting time ingram. I have to give you the random question though older stick of tops baseball game. You've eaten. i've never had one. You've never eaten any of the government of the packs really. I've never actually chewed a piece of gum in my life. Wow i see. I haven't in a long time. I gave up gum well over probably two decades ago. We're very never had never had a lot of the pack. Who had come in any form. I've never had coffee in any form. I've never had coffee. So that doesn't strike me as the weirdest things. But the golly you i've enjoyed i've had gum. I don't do it regularly. I don't have yeah. I remember at coffee. Baseball cards ruined by piece of gum. That twice took it out. I hate that. I wish they would put it back in. That was part of the fun of the packs. Wait all this. I met matt old a good friend of mine. We were opening these up about a year ago. Nine thousand nine hundred eight tops and he ate the gum and i warned him not to an advanced older than i am. Yeah that's a problem. That's that seems oh advised thirty two. It was no. It's thirty one year old gum. He ate it. He said it was dreadful. And it was dreadful eighty-eight shocking all right. That's a look down history lane here for us. And more eric's weirdness Homerun derby i just.

"He's got to be ready for it tonight. And it's not a big sample size. What do you need to see from kevin durant. Even if they lose to make you think he gave it his all. Well let let me. I give you this. So when only k. d. played the season for the nets five games therefore foreign one and four the four teams with three of the four teams were post-season teams the pacers the nuggets and the knicks. In fact the one team they lost it was thunder. Doesn't make any sense. So they have been able to survive. Just with kevin durant but obviously. It's the playoffs now. It's a much different thing in. It's the milwaukee bucks so it's a great question to ask. What would you want to send your so same thing. I always see. I don't need to see. I don't need to see what i saw in game four. See what i saw snapping wanted to give me give me what you normally would give me it. Everybody else around him has to do their part. I'm not suggesting that kevin durant can't do what he did in game one game two or game three but he's going to be primary point three years. Mary focal point their defense so every time he has the ball. he's gonna get splits. He's got double team so it's going to be katie. One verse two or three so so now these are the those other four guys to step up and do something so they can alleviate the pressure. So here's my question. Who are those other. Four guys exactly. But that's what we sleep in the nets we've seen so many of their other guys will have like lady. Janet comes in just starts drilling threes greed. It's always some guy that owes. And joe harris you know can show all of a sudden becomes sir dunkel out again like i know i'm just saying milwaukee exponentially the better team. Oh now for sure now. Top to bottom. I mean with the way defend their pieces. I mean so you know how go heroes come out of nowhere saying katie abilities him saying he other players. That's that's the guy who courtside seats can barclay center sound. Like a i mean. Can it sound like it needs to sound like to give those supporting cast guys that extra confident whatever it is extra bravado whatever it is to step up and make those plays knocked down those shots go. Tonight is building going to make the noise that it needs to make gains. Who helped game was heard. I haven't heard i've heard the barclay center like it was game two before inositol gotten nossa gains. Oh the game because you bullying me all the time. I still haven't got gonna go tonight though you might just go get a gin and sit at the top right. You don't wanna get in here. I know to get to get in his j. j. escorts. He's he doesn't understand. I might just go get me a guinean. Get in get in get in as i walk up with my forty bucks. Bhai me upstairs gotta move around so body come to say hey. That's my seats. Our own problems. Go move to can't stand here in homeland tonight in. So i didn't get invited to sit courtside and cross. My feet didn't do it. You are not my wife. And i are going. It's our first date night. Yeah okay. I got an is watching now. You told me that. I got is watching. Yep would that be a set courts to break the camera. Pans court cited there. There's i got is watching. Don't worry if jay not seen courtside seats know some this is a good time to say that cage as is brought to you by attorneys. Cordell and cordell. Don't put that on average.

"Off. It seem like they're very lethargic. And the second. Why does doc teams struggle or glenn rivers team struggle. Second half in the playoff games they tend you. Go back to clippers. That was one of the nakasone. Ms is for whatever reason they would surrender. Leads in blow games in the second half. You saw him last year. I mean you think about the year before. That is just something. And i don't know if it's coaching j. You can speak to that more so than me but something. That's there because here's the train. This follow mcginn in who is a coach. That's i know. I know we make fun of it and i know it's not a big thing to you but see i look at little things leadership wise right so and after a game where you have a chance to be three to one. I know we're in a different age. Maybe it's just the way i'm bill. Okay we're three you lose that game. You should be up three to one. I'm watching joel interview. And he's laughing about kawhi leonard in the dunk. And i'm sitting here. Saying i worried about quiet leonard and the donkey head on derrick favors. I worried about your ass giving up eighteen point lead when you guys should have had three one and you need the rest of you know how you get s. You win the series. You're supposed to win you. Let me walk in nets fired out into seven and you get your rest into that point like. I wonder sometimes who is the leader on this team. What does that. What does that even matter that he's laughing. The game's over. What could i think there's a. There's a history of dwelling bead not taking leadership. Seriously think that it. What makes you think because he has a certain personality that he's not taking the leadership role serious and the reason that i bring that up in in i'm even having a conversation with you right now is because as a player myself in the league. Just because i'm not doing something. I remember out here in new york either. New york postal wanted them stupid newspapers from out here. That wrote that everything is funding. Kane's because they catch you on the sidelines. Smiling more say it's not that doesn't mean that joel embiid is not taking it serious. That's all i'm like. what makes you think that just. Because he doesn't approach like a michael jordan or kobe bryant. I don't need you to approach. Like michael. Jordan kobe bryant. I'm just trying to tell you that by i. Pay attention the body language. A lot And the body language told me yesterday. This team kind of checked out. I also starts with joel embiid. I'm not saying he's. I said it's not the main reason they lost. I also said that right said they took the photographs. But if you questioned identity sometimes of who philadelphia is legit question like if i were to ask you key who are the philadelphia seventy sixers. How would you answer that question. I know i know the clippers are to a degree when they when both those jecklin. Hi this is what. I would say that. That's what i'm saying. The problem is that the the door was open for them to have a run into the finals of the nets. How these injuries concern. Put the top dude on. The team is hurting. He's hurting so you're hurting. You're going to go all in twelve. Well it was either one. Jason is though is that okay. So he's hurt. Somebody had to step up and that somebody else should have been ben simmons. You did not see that. In the second half i will say this about the embiid reaction post. It tells me he's not worried. He knew what happened in the second half. "Was like. Why was it here for the final episode? Really Quick Janet could compare them. Okay so what actually happens in the final episode is the The Sexy Romulo and incest. Romulus does go back to the board cube but instead of fighting seven of nine instead he meets a sister there who previously transported off of it before it got there and she for some reason gives them a bunch of grenades and then he decides to. She's like throw these grenades at androids. It's a great plan. It's a thin. He runs off and he betrays her by meeting up with the humans by going in throwing rocks at their window until they notice and let me convince them to join his his The towel CR convince these guys have anything but okay. The ship was broken on the way down so the aliens give them a magic golden pair of brass knuckles. That you just have to imagine what you want and it happens. And so they imagined the ship works so now it works and then the bad guy gets them to come together and make a campfire makes. Moore's will he tells them a ghost story about the house. You are just blacked out this whole fucking episode man and then they convinces them to go and they're they're big plan is okay. We're GONNA sneak up on all of the sense while they're doing this and then I'm gonNA throw the grenades to the Senate who's trying to kill all of us but they're gonNA hide grenades and a soccer ball for some rain. He just tossed it streets ASSOCI- she was. Hey wait I have the grenades now. I'm going so well this is going on. Also the Blonde Lady does get convinced by listening to talk about how it's bad to kill all life and she goes and steals eyeball out of a sense to open his door and then she escapes them and they go to the now fixed ship that everyone else has left and they get onto it just shot laser a flight up into space where five hundred bad guys ships. That are thousand times. Each of them were thousand times larger than their little. Cargo ship is approaching the the place in regards. Like how could we delay them? We've just got one ship. And then the blonde lady is like. I know how we can delay them. We've got magic brass knuckles. Were anything will happen if you imagine it. So she just imagined that a million ships would show up and they would all perfectly appear on the sensors with war with and then how were they able to do more cargo ships that were very largely spaced apart identical? Because we're all these they couldn't shoot between them and destroy the colony they had to instead staying there for five minutes ago. What are we GONNA do? There's a bunch of ships and then once they realized that the ships aren't real than for no reason a million actual federation ships. Show up even though the timing shouldn't work out like that at all even like based on what the cards sent out his help signal. Show up five minutes after the Romulus open chasing them the whole time and then leading the charge for some reason the retired. Reicher is now a captain again on short notice. He took over someone else's ship apparently best one in the fleece and the way the five hundred ships that show up from the federation fleet are all identical. Even though that's never happened in any star trek encounter but it just made this brand new huge fleet so new sleep now for no reason the federation is okay with since and says we're here to protect the sense you better leave and in in the tel. She are who've been on a mission for thousand years to prevent this exact thing that's happening right now from happening as suicide mission this shoot. Pass them and blow up all the sense in the transmitter. Instead they let Picard argue with the robots until they decide to turn it off even they could just turn it back on anytime in the very easily. The card opens up an open signal that every one can watch and he pleads associated to do it and I said that he would make a big sacrifice and die and I was right but ridiculously. His big sacrifice was just that he He had a bit of like brain fog or something and he was like the only way that I can give a good enough speech is if you shoot me up with epinephrine and she's like but that will make your brain explode after you've finished. He's GonNa do it. And so. Then he convinces everybody And then immediately the Romulus just like well we give up every ship? All at once shoots away in a different direction and then the Star Trek people like well. Guess they'll never come back and kill them after five minutes we're going to leave to and they zipped away and everyone in it and we see a new card. It's hard to summarize it. I'm sorry I believe he's in side of the -verting law mission. That's awesome shapes. Fly Away at twenty minutes into the episode of something. Here die flyway. I'll fly away. Let me get it They flyway at thirty eight minutes in the episode is fifty six minutes. So there's like twenty minutes where it's like wait. The problems been resolved. What's GonNa Happen for the rest of the show? Like what we find out is the data they have recreated data's consciousness from one of his neurons and they never talk to him so he's like he's just lonely in his own voting room in a black void with just like a couch in a table. Notebooks or anything so he of course wants to die and he tells record. The beauty of life is that it ends. When you're out of here have them kill me and cards like all right? I'm not gonNA argue with you about this at all or suggests maybe we put you into a body? I'm just GONNA cheat death. After you give the speech about how important death is and then he comes back and we find out that they decided without talking to him or consulting his consciousness in any way that they cut old and frail as he was before co superpowers. We could've made you be able to like lift cars and like you know. Do all kinds of amazing things but you're going to be exactly like you were before and you'll still die of old age at about the age you would have if you didn't have that brain problem. Yeah which are GONNA had like ten more years. Maybe and they were like no by the way we gave you the brain problem to find out that they're all now accrue for some reason and We never see what happens to the bad guy who stabbed at android in the eye. Let's resolve everybody's fucking Oh and it. Kinda ends with the one the captain of the of the ship. They're flying on kissing the Blonde. Dr Banda and the Drunk Lady Rafi and seven of nine or holding hands and staring into each other's eyes didn't understand that Chris. I'm taking I talked. They're taking shots together. As embedded hold hands ladies that only added Headey never talked for the whole show so we don't even know that they know each other didn't introduce that they were gay at all because like Sochi has son and they don't know they seem to not socially but Ravi Abby has a son Raffi suggest Rafi is a straight woman. But I understand let that lesbian ladies do have histories and they they have to the I get it. I get it. I just didn't introduce that at all at throwaway scene. It's like it happens while the camera's panning across a well well whoa way. So you're suggesting that these people are now and some sort of love affair backup. Dumbledore was gay. The whole part of the episode to me though was the amount of setup that they did to make it really obvious to not kill data and then just kill him like okay so Dr. Soon was making a goal and four himself which looks like an old data. Yeah he could've just put data into and then he could have made age like a normal person so I mean like I cannot imagine okay. I'm thinking about the character data. Imagine telling the character data. You could have a real like organic body. That's just like a person and you could age and what it's like to go through the full life cycle of a human like always. Yeah Melissa data once right that's the whole point of his character from the whole his whole arc was building up to a thing about assisted suicide. That was real void of his character was that he he believed that the right to die. That's what it was very cheap episode. Actually very deep has so I wanted to read between the lines for Reicher. Being a captain that ship turns out. He was undercover the whole time. And it's on his side and they had reicher pose as a family. Deanna TROI TO GET INFORMATION OUT OF PICARD. Without being obvious about it. Oh right the cabinet and that ship after that seen this latest flu I always. I thought it was so excited. They just flew away after they like had this huge altercation were. They threatened to murder of like a thousand Romulus. Well not a problem anymore. See later we'll go get lunch. It would have been great. If at the end of the episode it was just a five second shot of one. Romulus ship like warping back in shooting up on missiles and then just warping back ask. Oh yeah when I wrote this down. The Rahman ships trying kept trying to execute planetary sterilization pattern number five. I wrote that down to at least four. Other sterilization patterns and figuring rates. He listened looked at the mountain ranges. And you're like well. There goes plan one. That doesn't really got it because this this planet has a lightning so you know you got to take that into account. We also have to take into account that you're killing since so you got what you going to do is stab each in the left eye knives anyways so what. What was your certificate? How would you rate the show? I'M GONNA WATCH SEASON TOO. I mean I feel like we're gonNA have to correct. Our fans are going to demand it. I mean already searched about this one. I think the first card episode was actually pretty downloaded but Yeah let's see so what we're doing five stars here She one and a half stars. I rated it three stars the first time because there was a potential that they could they could if if the next episodes really carried on And brought up those plop joints and made the make sense that it could be good but they they did not in any way no not even close. Yeah Yeah I mean I feel like if I would rate this five stars Or up up to five stars I thought the via fax was.

"Skin. Offs set phasers to Migraine Research. A new way So Rafi decides she's GonNa go around all the Hollick the holograms and she figures out that all of them have a piece of this grander puzzle. On why the captain is waiting out for some reason They all have like a little bit of his brain but the whole brain so they have a group therapy session with the Holograms to talk about. Who why he's crying and has made any sense. Did it no because they ended up mystery with each missing a piece? They didn't solve anything out of it. They're just like yeah. No the mysteries still here. I think they felt like they resolved it because they had the captain say something about how when he set up the ship he had. It learned his personality or something in not. Didn't have the custom Hologram just had to be accents. Come in all have different accents opening. Because he's like Portuguese right but some of them have like like Like a Irish accents and some of them have just like a demo. Reel out of this. And he got it. He got it it kind of that. That sounds like how you are a DND deamer. Chris Accents. He's better exam on. My accents are the same accent of Kentucky accent. That either is like a little bit English coach or German within German and kind of fall apart when when they come to picard to talk to him about the woman murdering matic's Picard. They made them into a fucking idiot. 'cause like they have like of this tons of proof that she did it and it's like very clear and he's like let's wait until we have all the facts certain card. This this show should be called Card Colon he always sees the best in people. That's toll care jar. He's always just ignored. They're probably great also. Yeah like the ship doesn't have any cameras or anything or keep Data on like who entered into what computer hooking established episode to that they can read particle data. Zine with the with the admiral whatever clancy where a car just keeps interrupting her until she's finally shut the fuck up the car and I'm trying to give you what you want yet. I thought that was I. I was like oh. They just weren't a fit in into every episode. It also felt like they were trying to feel like an eighties cop comedy or something. This episode was Shitty Aid. Eighties cop comedy. Yeah totally yeah and like that was also like one of the few things. That was his French Chateau or whatever like why do you keep cutting back? This fucking weird office in some French vineyard. Why is he knows? Phone calls there. Why is he taking phone calls on holiday? Can he do it on a ship? Don't understand either. They just want to different locations. I guess but also Lake classically speaking. Everyone else takes a phone call not with complete full hologram versions on himselves but like in phone call level like like win. Rafi talks to the other person on the deck of the ship. She does it through a panel. Yes but for But for some reason picard is like straight up like they're doing three d live scan this other person on earth and they're transmitting live scan over the substation. We'll have a real ten faster than light. I think for Star Trek. They basically get around faster than light with their sub space communications because it it just made stuff too complicated if they tried to do everything correct with them going multiple times the speed of light all the time. Yeah You well. They did everything. Correct the forevermore. If they did it right forevermore forevermore so good the I would have you read the forever I have not no you are you one hundred percents shed. It's like two hundred pages it's written by Vietnam Vet That was like what if The sort of the driving principles that got us in Vietnam took us into space word that nobody understands L. And he makes this really crazy book. That's Has It's it's more real physically than any the most scifis. You're dealing a lot with mass Like when when soldiers not to go to other really do some big calculations to get through some of those chapters whenever the soldiers are going to other like war zones. They're moving close to the speed of light so time is moving different from them. So by the time they get to the war zone like two hundred years of past One point Which is really fun. They come back because like they're they're missing out on culture as they leave and come back and leave and come back. Oh Yeah and back. And all of Earth's is now gay population and he finds their main character is a dude finds out. His mom has a lesbian girlfriend and he gets so upset so mad. You could plot now where it's like. Oh because of overpopulation. Everyone chooses to be gay but but that book is good. Despite the weird it was not necessarily anti gay but it definitely has anti-gay tones league comes around to it and then we review the card. We try so hard to not talk about picard because after everybody becomes gay this gets a he gets discriminated against for being straight and he can't find anybody on the ship that's willing to have a relationship with Oh interesting reason that reminds me of. There's something in slaughterhouse. Five when he talks about the seven different sexualities or something anyway sounds like cook. He has a different genders on earth. And it takes all seven of them to reproduce. We just only understand two of them. Yeah there you what it was but then the one. That doesn't exist is lesbians because they can't reproduce but everything else. It was just bad. Okay let's move on. Let's get onto evidence. Would what happens in the seventy nine breaks in? She steals aboard cubes generates the Board we see the board Q. Can Be regenerated really fast. But no one ever tries to Angie. She she decides that this is the whole thing where she's like in order to save her fellows she's going to become the temporary board queen and Hook up but I'm afraid that if I if I do this I won't be able to UNHOOK but in the next but does very like right away. Pretty just go in and operate a bunch of board interfaces to make it regenerate and the ad I thought was weird there. Is that the board or a hive. Mind with computers on their fucking heads. Why do they have any interfaces interfaces on board cubes before that's part of what made it like weird? Was that the all the stuff that was on the normal starship because of works. They don't have a brain interfaces system needed but apparently they just have big touchscreen hologram interfaces in case anyone shows up. Who isn't part of the HIVE mind? They WanNa make sure that they can use the chip floor. His all about accessibility on the board is running a an AIRBNB. It's an airborne and be but we don't technically need this whole interface in every room but let's just implemented everywhere. Justin Shea is headed. It really is everywhere right they can. I hang on a wall but they don't make it obvious where to do it. You had to be bored. Should know where to bring it up. It all makes sense okay lady. She tries to shoot somebody with her phaser and it shorts out in like a spark shoot out of it has ever happened before. Does she buy counterfeit goods? What's going Yes Oh and then she up so the next episode which now I wish it for this episode is is over. They do the site. The blonde scientists lady admits to everybody that she murdered the sky. And everyone's just like all right. Well I guess she's okay to walk around to be a a free join US venture in the anymore people. She changed her mind about murdering people. She swears her name is agnes and her improbable. Love story with the captain. Chris continues after he finds out. She's a murderer. Well at all of that but like the dude that she killed was her lover. I guess who was considerably older than her as well. When that's not discussed we were in a relationship and I found out that you killed your previous lovers I would. We consider our our status to have some concerns about talk about the murder. Pretty cavalierly like yeah. I did that but I decided I didn't like that. I did it for a bad conversation with a friend. Yes I guess that the caption was either sent or a Hologram. As like it's gotta be it's the only way any of this bullshit makes any sense. No I mean maybe they'll talk about that season two. I don't know that doesn't happen. Okay so let's get on the opposite nine episode nine design nine where we find out that they somehow all have a shared back story before that stat will episode nine is where the crash lands onto a planet. This is the coolest part of this is the most original idea in its entire series was super fucking cool to get a tax front by giant flowers into as into space and GRANDPA and they're supposed to cush as comeback in the atmosphere but was with everybody who flew up just immediately being like. Oh no we can't do any evasive maneuvers or fire lasers on them or anything that there should the advertisers. I did that ever come. I didn't shoot. They know they lived in a dogfight vertebrae they actually fired on it. Yes they were firing at each other so but they didn't try to fire on these flowers trying to eat them and they didn't try to like get away just waited while they vary slowly rose up from the planet's surface ships very slowly and the last episode but in the next episode they come back and all the other guys immediately or like fire on those and they destroy them. Yeah Yep but I thought from our designers perspective in World Building Perspective. The organic the idea of an engineered planet which they didn't carry out any further. They just did it in the in the in that scene. But like a full near planet where The life is engineered to do. Specific functions was really cool and they should have taken it further. Where the the building was alive or the ships were alive. You know that type of stuff. Well Yeah what. They're missing out on in. That whole scene is a Is the Lena acting the chair? Lean acting within get that good star trek everybody leaning together in different directions. Yes that's true. That was a big miss on that part. Another example I think they never watched star Trek but yes while they were crashing towards the planet. Everybody unbuckled win over to check on Picard. And he was like saying some random shit in the seat and this was the moment where I literally shit myself later. My note here is thought. I already had every corona virus symptom but I just shit myself. Diarrhea completes my Corona Virus Bingo.

"Let me finish with this as record this Tuesday morning out in Los Angeles. We still don't know the future of John Line in Cleveland. Multiple reports over all star weekend said he was considering stepping down as head coach. Multiple reports Any athletic and ESPN SAYING THAT. Even if he doesn't step down now he's done after the season Rohan I I just don't I don't see how John Beeline can coax this team in their first game back this weekend I just. I don't see it like you can't you? Can't you keep using this phrase Buchanan? Ring this bell like you have told your team who already had issues respecting. You and didn't think that you were the right Guy Anyway. You've told this team to thought about quitting like in I and you're basically a lame duck the end of the season. I don't know how he comes back after all that. Bro. I don't know how he came back. After the thugs slugs controversy. That was wild. I mean listen. I don't know what he said. Or what is in terms or whatever and I don't want to sound like the guy who is like I knew it all along but how old is John? Beeline like he's in his sixties. You hire a Susan. Six year old guy who's been in college his entire career and like really think this is the move like this is GonNa work like it just never really made sense to me. I mean in some level I guess I was happy for him just because he's had a successful college career wanted to give the NBA thing. A try but this was the wrong team to do with. It was still had a lot of veterans with some young guys we needed to play like this was just such a messy situation from the start. I agree I mean. There's no way there's just no way. He can still coach his team and like everyone involved here would be better off if Egypt. Walk through a agree. Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't remember a college coach coming to the NBA. Who's had such a rebuilding task ahead of them. I mean he had such a tall task ahead of him and and it wasn't even like he can come in and know that he was gonNA rebuild because it was a Kevin love install in the roster right and on top of that. He's used to colleges which why practice four days a week at minimum nine. Ba You got one practice so he just had a really really high hill ahead of him and he couldn't do it and I think he's miserable. I think the players are miserable. I think it's just broken at this point. Yeah I think the you know you mentioned the rebuilding task thing. That was kind of the appeal and bringing a minute. I because the assumption was that you would get off Kevin Love Tristan Thompson expiring. But he's still young enough. You could grow but you have guys that. Are you know around that college age? Whether it's Darius Garland or Colin sex during the number young guys they have there and that maybe they would gravitate towards a coach that has the same style used to you know for all those years in college that I mean. I could have told that doesn't work. I mean I was working for the Celtics and Rick Pitino was there and Rick. Pitino quite literally had his Kentucky team there yet Antoine Walker. Walter McCarty Tony. Delk a bunch of guys from UK and they didn't want to play for like you. Just you know they. Once they became pros started making money and understood the pro-life style each game season it just. It's different mindset. The only kind of college coaches that work our coaches that can understand that and have a respect for that kind of process. I mean Brad Stevens. The greatest example of it and and Brad got it right away and figured out I'm actually a little bit surprised. Billy Donovan's been successful as he has. Because Billy is kind of cut from that you know. Ultra Competitive Calvino cloth. Quitely Florida But he's adapted. I think really well to the NBA. But this is like a a making this number up but like a ninety percent failure rate. I mean you off the top of our heads. We can name college coaches that have failed with Rick. Pitino or Calipari. Mike Montgomery Long Krueger. Eric Muscleman Eric was an assistant in the NBA There are just happens all the time and the college coaches that succeed. They're just so few and far between I just never understood it like you have. Bill has no professional experience. He wasn't an assistant coach in the NBA. You are bringing a sixty something year old coach to almost like. If you're feeling like college basketball a Cesspool I can get outta here. Get a five year retirement. Deal all guaranteed right. You know. Try My hand. Nba Fantasy camp and it's not even like he was like a renowned tactician or like. There's some yeah like he was a very good college which all these college coaches that go to the NBA are but no ability or history of of coaching at this particular level. And I I don't know who's caller was. I don't know if it was Dan. Gilbert's call. I mean you know Dan Gilbert's obviously from the area rocket mortgage and all that Michigan Hiring in Michigan coach Kobe. What is his liability? That's another part of the story like this. Kobe almond survive all this. I mean it's not just the higher of hiring an eventual firing of John Beeline. It's like I mean I don't know the context they kyrie Irving forgotten sexton basically and I don't know that he is worth that kind of that. Invest Madera Garland still too soon to tell on girl. I think they need to split those guys up. Stop playing them together. I don't think that really works. But you know this. Is You know this is an. I kinda hit for Kobe. Altman I think as well. They're shout out to billy Donovan by the way you mentioned whether he he's been in the NBA for four years. He seen a lot of stuff. Scrap a lot of stuff. Westbrook Haram Carmelo. Anthony Kris. Shout out to Billy Donovan Man. They love billy in the final year of his deal. I don't know if it's very secretive. Out of some of those deals right. That's the thing. Now that's why it's so crucial right at the beginning to win players respect once you lose their respect. I don't know if that's something you can get back. And I think that's kind of across the board in any field that you're in like your first impression your first year whether you build a good reputation for yourself whether you gain people's respect it's really really tough to come back from it when you go the opposite way. Arcane demanding respect right away that's negative point. I think you know again recording this on Tuesday evenings are pretty good. Chance be land's gone before the weekend and they go to the coach they probably should have gone with the beginning with jd dickerson. Imagine the only thing holding that up is like or you know paying. This guy was making like close to four million dollars at Michigan. Had to have gotten more. This is part of the problem with like even if you like. How hotels are the cavs paying man but no but but in a greater sense like even if you like these college coaches you've got overpaid to the NBA. Is How much money? The top level guys are making college basketball. Unlike time contracts you gotta give them five. Year DEALS AT FIVE MILLION PER SEASON. Just to get them out of the college ranks it is bonkers out there so. I mean I'm with you. Four and a half years left on that deal at probably close to five million. I'm just guessing a number. I don't know if top of my head but most five million per year as a tough pill I read. Nba coaches swallow. All right guys. Thank you for joining me here in studio good to With you Melissa. Whatever WE'RE Chris Lakers coverage dot com role. On what are you doing these days? What do we got going on with? You got two stories coming out the story reading anymore about your best friend. Dwayne Wade I am. He's his Jersey's getting retired. This week I had a chance to prescreen. Is Documentary Dwayne Wade? Is that what you want? Yes I asked him. He's retired. That's right that's why wasn't in the documentary. You know. Thought I'd I'd put in the hours within the work. But maybe the sequel. Someday I wanna love someone or something like you loved women. I hope you get to feel that I really do all right. Thanks for joining..

"Like I I continue to ride the train of getting rid of dunk contest. I have no use for it whatsoever. It was pretty good for kids. Is it if it's for kids? Here's why replace it with our place with a competition of King of the court like everyone. Everyone that played basketball as a kid. Grew up linking the court. You know one on one games to one next man up NEX men off. You put a big cash prize at the end of it. And I guarantee you because they'd be real money involved and because these guys want to be known as the best one on one player in the NBA that there would be big name stars competing that like James Harden would play the king of the core. Competition is too much to lose with. I don't know I can't think you're one hundred percent rate. I don't know guys GonNa put themselves on the line like that. I do not think we need to get rid of the dunk contest. Let's dial that back a little bit like if you were a kid. Watching this is awesome. Probably don't even remember who won. You don't care I listen it pains me to say it and I just interviewed him because his Jersey retired. We do need Dwayne Wade and his shady judging tactics that were going on for that last Aaron Gordon Doug. There was clearly some kind of agreement main amongst the judges. He seemed to back out at the last second. That's my very amateur reading the situation whether they even if they just introduced nine point fives or something like that. I also think it does not matter that you don't win the dunk contest like no-one really remembers that Zach Levine. One that one they just remember. Aaron Gordon's dunk over the mascot. I think that's really what matters. That's what you want from the dunk contest. One or two dunks that you can definitively say. I'm going to remember this for a long time. And that's what this competition is was memorable. That's all you can ask. I agree you like the the dunks I remember. Historically I remember Blake Griffin Dunkin over car Armor the Vince Carter Elbow in the cylinder Gerald Green Birthday cake dog. I was wondering how much I just I just. There's no interest in seeing and stuff. Maybe I'm past that you're old and bitter and grey Moustache Rally but whatever the only other topic I want to get you on all star weekend the NBA renamed the All star MVP for Kobe Bryant. And we've seen a lot of of honoring Koby we'll see even more honoring. I'm sure in the future but it has the done enough at this point as far as You know appreciating. Kobe and some people want to see them change the logo to Kobe Bryant. There were t shirts going around all star weekend of a new logo with Kobe. It should be pointed out the NBA. Never acknowledged Jerry west of the logo like it can even though he is never acknowledged it. But you're the NBA. Yes enough. They have they done enough at this point. Why not making the Logo Jerry? West has come out multiple times saying that. He doesn't want to be the logo that he never wanted to be the logo. Why not because he wants to get paid for it? That's a great way to memorialize him the everywhere he'll be the NBA. And I think everybody wants to see that it'll be a beautiful tribute to him. Why not do that well? I mean my only counter is that you know you'd then have to dissect imperfections of Kobe. And you're right to go back to two thousand three and everything that happened there and nobody's flawless. But that might be a tougher sell than just the All star. Mvp THE ALL-STAR MVP. It just it just points directly to. Koby's all star resume and and right how it's you make him. The literal face of the there will be some objections. There will be women's groups in and justifiably to based on. I mean it was exciting years ago now but you know I didn't cover it but I was just getting started. Then people will remember that definitely I. I also think that the All Star game. Mvp thing. I think a lot of people have that idea and it makes complete and perfect sense and I like that a lot if anything what I would like to see the NBA do is use their platform. Continue some of the things. Kobe was passionate about The last few years of his life Whether that's involvement in youth sports involvement and women's sports and that goes for the NBA. That goes for Nike. We're talking huge. Huge corporations That have a lot of money at their disposal that can affect change in areas that he was passionate about and I think to me that would mean more than even naming a trophy after him is is using your resources to kind of you know further. The causes that he was passionate about that. Can you know make a genuine tangible impact on people's lives such what I would like to see? I mean I wrote about this. I I think that week but you know I. I think. Nike like immediately sold out of Kobe. Gear like what if Nike didn't profit off of the interest in Kobe? Right now and use that money and said to donate it to the Mama a the mom seat academy there's just so many things that I think the NBA and Kobe's endorsement partners can do on that level that I think people kind of don't think about or maybe it feels crash. Say but to me that would be so much more meaningful than even making him the logo. Because then you are in honor of him. You're making a tangible impact on so many more lives. So that's what I would like to see. What do you think yeah? I think that's a great idea. I mean why not do both? I think back to your point sort of about making Kobe. The face of the League. I think you can have somebody be the face of the League who doesn't have a crystal clean. Squeaky clear passed. I think Koby I mean you saw the impact him. I thought about this a lot in Los Angeles and maybe across the nation. I mean if somebody abruptly died right now who would have a greater impact. Who would leave so many people crying? Who would touch so many people like Kobe? And I think that's really powerful and Kobe stood firm in tolliday. He stood not only for you know multiple championships but just like a work ethos though so work ethic and I think died in and of itself. Is You know something that NBA wants to stand behind. Yeah I can see that. That argument one thing Ryan Ruben. I talked about a few weeks. Back was like the. Nba's not used to losing people not just tragically but like the Celtics are all still alive. Like you know the there hasn't as yet to be kind of been tragedies here or there you know people passing away a little bit early but the NBA really got kickstarter. The nineteen fifties and Bill Russell still alive. We saw him at all star weekend. Tommy heinsohn still alive. That anybody Bob cousy still alive. I mean all these these greats from that era still so when somebody dies. It's not even as if it's not abruptly still shocking jolt for the NBA. So you don't see that Off I saw I saw bill. Russell go through security at the Charlotte Airport last weekend. After all star weekend was done I was like because there's no one here know who this is. Let this man through. I get out of his wheelchair. Bill Russell was crazy. She should be just you all right. So let's talk about the second half of the season. Which really isn't the second half of the seasons like the final third season but all attention is going to be on Los Angeles As the Clippers Lakers entered their stretch run. I saw the clippers play in Boston about a week. Just right before the all-star break actually or you from Boston I am. Oh cool I don't know that They don't have much. I was gonNA say something else. They don't have a lot of things with Boston. The clippers The Clippers look okay. I mean Paul. George went out and halftime of that game with a hamstring injury Lou Patrick Beverley didn't play but They look okay. We've seen a lot of the Lakers. But I guess the question is going into the final third is which one of these teams is in a better position. We're all kind of some sort of anticipating a hallway series that we can get to the potential disruptors and all that but Melissa. Which team is in better position right now? The clippers the Lakers as we kind of barrel towards the playoffs. I think the Lakers by far this is a revenge season for Lebron this guy who took both Miami and Cleveland to the Finals. Eight years in a row then. He missed the playoffs last year. He desperately wants to get back and he desperately to go far and when this team championship and now after Kobe died he has even more on his back. He has even more that he's playing for. He has even more inspiration. I think Lebron A D. That's a team. That really is GonNa go far. And I don't think the clippers can really compare right now run. Would you think so? It's tricky I mean I guess not to be like theoretical about it but it depends what you mean by position Like the Lakers are the one seat and even try lawyer and they want to win. I do think that kind of stuff is important. This is in a unique thought. I think a lot of people around the League feel this way. The clippers are treating this season as if this is like their third year of a championship window. Where they're like. We're not gonNa try our hardest every night we're going to sit some guys To the point where we haven't really seen them at full strength yet but when you just look at their rosters I do think that you can make the case that the clippers earn a little bit of a better position for deeper playoff run in the sense that well there guys don't have a lot of wear and tear They seem to have a little bit more. You know lineup positional flexibility. Then the Lakers It's just it's splitting hairs at this point right because what I've always come back. Come back to is in the last eight minutes of a close playoff game. Who's going to have the best five on the floor? And if you're five includes Lebron and Anthony Davis is just going to be really hard to beat that five. So I I mean I. I think I'M GONNA say Clippers right now. Just because I think they were. I don't even remember who my finals pick was. This was that was months ago. There was many Mojo's ago I I'll say that I think that I. I like the clippers a little bit more today if only because I think there's about the fact that maybe they'll be fresher for the playoff run Kawai on any given night I still often looks like the best player in the League But they're very close and there. There are a lot closer than you know. Like the Mark Morris. Right think was a really good trade with the clippers but they're the two teams are still very close. It wasn't like one movie is going to put one of them. Way Over the top of the coin. Flip TO I. I do lean a little bit more towards the clippers. Just look I by the the inspirational part for the Lakers. Though I think that comes with a certain pressure to that That could affect them in a deeper in the playoffs but the clippers. The Clippers are less flawed. It feels like Lakers the Lakers even against Paul. George are the two best players on the floor. Lebron D. But Darren Collison. Stay in retirement and killed them like that was a body blow to that team because you can make an argument that if collison at sign there and assuming he was in any kind of shape which we don't really know he would have been the starting point guard a few weeks. I mean he fits. What the Lakers do much more than Rondo? When Avery Bradley and Vic Caruso and all those guys they're so if they have been able to get Darren Collison. I would've been much more excited about the Lakers chance. Because he makes three point shots defense he just does. He fits that system with which they played and without him like. I don't know if Reggie Jackson becomes available. I think if he does the street fight between the clippers the Lakers to get him. Please don't street if I could have third guy six three point..
