My number one is fresh. It is also a horror film of a sort. It is directed by Mimi cave. It's written by Lauren Kahn. It is the ultimate movie about horrible dating. You have a girl named Noah. She's lived by daisy Edgar Jones. Who's going on dates with lots of losers, meets a guy who seems magically maybe too good to be true. His name is Steve. He's a doctor. He's played by Sebastian Stan. So you know what that means. He shows up with his square cut jaw romancing her in a grocery store trying to get her some grapes. And she opens her guard and he turns out to be a professional cannibal. Like a corporate cannibal. I would say who captures women and then sells bits of them slowly in his house. And yet, if I had just heard that set up, I'd be like, uh, sounds cute, clever, I think I know it's gonna go sure, I'll give it a watch. But in action, I was entrenched. This movie was hilarious. The beats, the comedy beats the way that it's put together, kind of the push and pull. The really intense chemistry between daisy Edgar Jones and Sebastian Stan were at some points are kind of like maybe they can work it out. Like what? But they have so much fun.

"I love anime but it did make it feel a little more little more juvenile than i'm used to with marvel shows and movies and it also the laws of physics. Were just completely thrown out. The window like catching carter was doing things i know. She's a super soldier but like triple back flips off of building over. I'm like come on. I don't know grounded in reality a little bit more. So but overall i did enjoy an interest to see where it goes. What did you think. Yeah i liked it. I'm not making it. Animation of any variety really end so Outside of the simpsons but tuned in. Because i love aging carter. And so i i liked it. They chose to highlight her in the first episode and i actually liked this animation style and also people were complaining about it and they didn't really like it to me. I'm a. I'm a big comic book reader and so an animation looks like comic book panels. I'm really into that. And i felt like they did a good job with and i agree about sebastian stan. But overall looking forward to where it's going to go and i know the the next episode is the last thing that chadwick bozeman did where tuccillo becomes star lord. So i'm gonna. I'm really excited to see that. And what i'm hoping is that perhaps this series because they're saying that this series is canon in the mc and so if if the series next to the movies in some way like if we're gonna get a multi verse and we're going to get captain carter in that moment like that would be super crazy so i will have to get so buff. "We all love this. It's really cool to see this but league slightly. Different light But yeah. I don't know i like i said i think it's fine. It's good. I don't think you can give this episode any more than three stars. But let's kind of dive into some of the other aspects. Now i think generally speaking as a whole the acting for this is fine. It's good it's pretty much. The normal of voice acting should be now. I will say the good the highlight something. That is awesome that we should focus on is haley's Performance peggy you can tell she had fun with it. She hit the notes just like she should because people do need the realize. I oftentimes don't think people think about it really. Is that voice acting and physical acting or two different animals. They definitely are very much. You know different. And so i love hal. Haley brought this fun. Side of peggy. Carter to the table and i think that was definitely very prevalent in the scenario now on the other side of it once again voice acting and live acting or two different things. 'cause then you have someone like sebastian. Stan who plays bucky and dominic cooper plays young howard stark both of them individually in their live action counterparts. Digest fine i feel like bucky was really the sour note in terms of the voice acting even to a point where you know the people i was watching it with and even some of the people that i've talked to outside of that and even on the podcast last night. I think everyone's in universal agreement. He did not do that well. And you know obviously he was only really brought back because he originally voice monkey and they wanted the original voice actors on for it but with bucky he's flat. It just doesn't translate well and a lot of people didn't even really believe that that was the actual real sebastian stan. But it actually was. That really was sebastian. And then you have dominic cooper on the other hand which once again he played young howard stark in the live action. He played young howard. Stark in peggy carter and he also played the voice actor for young howard stark. Here now i would say he was also a bit of a sour note. Not as much as sebastian. Stan was for bucky. But i feel like he went a little too much. He created a little bit. He was a little too animated as one of the best ways that i can really describe it. He was a little too animated for the character. It needed to be toned down. I think he needs to find middle ground. He's not too far off but he still just a little bit above and beyond Or if you really want to call it above and beyond anyway so that was the voice acting now as for the animation. I myself actually really like cell shading obviously the big thing would sell shading is it is very reminiscent of graphic novels. Or you can even say comic books And i think disney really needed to get the animation. Joss too right because this is crucial. This is the first animated show of marvel studios And none of the other animated marvel shoes were under marvel studios..

Yeah when you said that like that was a shift in my because these are things that i think about what you put words to it and so getting to a place where we earned the right to do more advanced things. What are those foundational things for every one of us that we need to invoke in our lives just for basic culture and functionality. Who've i mean there's certain things that we need to be able to do in our life we need to be able to sit on a toilet. I just it just how it is all my telling you to put a bar on your back and start squatting wagner pounds no but we have to start establishing those basic movements. I think with us in the amount of sitting that we do all the time we start losing this elasticity in muscles and that's why our body really starts feeling like junk so on day one of my take someone who hasn't moved in ten years and i'm going to get them to imply metrics no but the goal is to get those joints get some lubrication those joints y'all get some elasticity in those muscles and get them to the point where i can get the moving again like they did as a kid. Now it's all at a different level because certain people yeah we might not be doing a fifty inch box. But i accept that but if i can take someone in their fifties who came in with back pain and in time maybe work with our team of physical therapists or maybe work with You know our team of nutritionist to get inflammation to calm down and then in time we see that their body allow sleeps improving while we got fifteen minutes. Extra sleep every night thirty minutes extra. We're in the right direction. How you feeling body's feeling better not feeling so tight. I'm getting out of the car and i can. Avengers: Endgame Has Overwhelmed Hollywood. Is That OK?
"Sean fantasy editor in chief of the ringer. And this is the big picture a conversation show about the end of moviegoing culture, as we know. It just kidding vendors. Endgame ruled and is better than game of thrones. I'm here with Chris Ryan and Amanda Davin. Getting the Friskies we're going to talk a little bit about avengers and not game. Thrones. If you wanna listen to stuff about game of thrones. I encourage you to listen to Chris on the watch. Maybe you can catch up on the thrones. Which aired last night. Maybe you can check out Benjamin later this week in here all about the battle of winter fell in whether it worked or did not work. There are some dissension in the ranks here at the ringer today. We're talking MC you not just the movie itself. But also the box office implications, and what the aftermath of that means for summer movies. We're doing a little summer movie preview man, and I'll be chatting about it. But I I thought that you guys are the perfect pair to chat with after doing a deep dive with Mallory Ruben because Amanda, you're on the record is not being the biggest superhero movie fan in the world. But also someone who sees these films out of obligation and has developed a lot of feelings about them. And Chris, I tend to think you're the most you're the person who I'm most eager to hear what he thought about these moves every time you see. I'm right here. It's not that respect your opinion. Amanda, I think it's very valuable, but you're operating from a base level of not. So sure about this, Chris I. I think he if he can really go positive or negative. Sure. So I'm time. I'm wondering what you guys thought. Like, I'm a newborn baby every time I enter a movie. Yes. But sort like Benjamin button this baby. Did you cry? Speaking of a game. I did not cry. Okay mandate. Did you right now? I didn't staunching. So I cried because I feel right? And so. Chris what'd you think? I had like a feelings wave when Peter Parker and Tony stark reunited at the end of the movie, I just felt like entirely a piece, which I think is ultimately what they wanted you to feel which is that I was entirely a piece with the endeavor, I felt fine. And okay about the amount of time. I've spent thinking about this these movies and seeing these movies over the years, I think is really telling listen to you and Mallory talk about it because being a little bit older. I think that I don't quite have like deep passionate connection to it. It's not like a real maker break franchise for me in the way, some some others are, but at the end of the day, I felt like you guys pulled it off. You get you made it emotionally satisfying finales to what was pretty unprecedented endeavor in movie making history, and they made it work Mana. Yeah. I thought it was a fitting conclusion to this experiment for better. And for worse in some ways. It it certainly there was a little bit of everything for everyone, including. Me. I mean, the last show I was delighted I wouldn't say I was like crying or deeply moved. But it's very excited to see Hayley Atwell back into seek cap. I frankly old cap be very happy. And also, I thought pretty handsome for like a really old guy. It'll head ahead. And then yeah, that's true. They didn't age the hair. And I thought that nice. I thought the last shot was very sweet and was kind of going back to many of the themes that we talked about in our podcast about captain America the first venture. And some of the things that I felt the MC you had abandoned. And so I felt seen in that moment, which is not something that I often feel in these movies, it took three hours and a lot of garbage CGI to get there. So, you know, and, but I think other people delighted that we're delighted by that. And so again, there is something for almost everyone in these movies. And that's kind of what the experiment was about. Right. Yeah. Definitely. And you know, in the Morville months years that we did on the show in a you. And I talked about captain America. The first of. Injure. Chris unite talked about the avengers both of the things the key talking points that we talked about in those podcasts really rose to the surface on this one. You know in your in your case, it was how halio wells the most important person in the MC. You Chris for you. It was quite literally that Tony stark is the most important person, the AFC, this was a genuine sendoff. Yeah. I don't I don't think we'll be seeing Tony again. And it was interesting the way that they built him into the not just the centerpiece of the story, not just the emotional center of the story. But like the engine of the story, and I think when we talked a few weeks ago, you were saying that you're not so sure that they're going to be able to do this as actively without him. I think they're staring to an abyss. And I think they might dive in and the this is called Disney. Plus, you know, I think that the the way that we're going to be talking about these movies in ten years United texting over the weekend. And I was like, oh, should I read this comic line to kinda see where it's going or read the story line? And you basically were like here's what's going to happen in in ten years. We'll be talking about this so called to be friends with Sean. No, I think he sent the text and there are some. These are anti spoilers over here. Also. But he's like, I he sends tech. Sometimes I'm just saying we're gonna join but this. This one was like, wow. That sounds incredibly plausible. And it would take about ten years to get. You know what I mean? And but for me, you lose stark, you probably you're gonna lose Evans unless they graduate Evans too kindly, uncle who shows up somehow in some of the other movies. And I think they're going to take the characters that were remaining with the exception of Black Panther, captain marvel in the guardians. A lot of them are going to move to streaming a lot like Sebastian STAN, anti Mackie. They're going to streaming LOKI streaming Wanda envision explicable or going to streaming. So like a lot of these characters are now going to be on these little five episode little mini runs. And I think that they have a charm problem. Now, I think that there is going to be a little bit of a like we need to work to like build up some of these people again, and that will probably come with the characters that you were talking about. But it's gonna take them a few years to develop those projects, you're there's two ways to do that. I think it's evident to me. And I guess we'll see when Spiderman far from home comes out. But they do have a centerpiece in Tom, Holland that was the loudest cheer. I heard both times. I saw the movie that was the person that people were most emotionally connected to and that is the legacy of Downie Downey made that character very meaningful to a lot of people. You know, they they created that father son dynamic, so I could see that effectively being the new iron man of the series. The other stuff is is a little bit up in the air. You know, it's like I feel like the one thing we can kind of all agree on is that they really just handled Chris Hemsworth beautifully over the last five years. They've just figured out how to make him a trueblue movie star. Amanda, we'll talk a little bit about her enthusiasm for men in black international. Maybe later on this podcast but
