"Ranked team <Speech_Female> against one that's very, <Speech_Male> very high ranked, and <Speech_Male> that's game's going to be boring <Speech_Male> too. We don't want to see it. <Speech_Male> Well, lots of goals, but <Speech_Male> no. Yeah. <Speech_Male> Yeah, at least. <Speech_Female> All right. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> Last one, and this <Speech_Music_Female> one's a bonus. <Speech_Music_Female> Start <Speech_Music_Male> <SpeakerChange> bench <Speech_Music_Male> cell. <Speech_Music_Female> How do you separate the rosa? <Speech_Music_Female> Chris Alex, <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> me, <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> or chubby. <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> Oh, <Speech_Music_Male> all right? <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> Hold on. "ESPN daily is back for the second time today. Kay Marie and Luis Miguel etching a ray. Now after this morning's drama, we've not seen anything quite the same in the games that followed. The last game, France, Australia, in terms of goals, did make up for the two goalless draws we saw between Denmark and Tunisia, Mexico and Poland. We're going to get to those games in just a minute. Let's just do a quick recap because we're going to go deeper, Luis as we get into the show. But a quick recap because it did look at one moment as though France were going to be upset too. Absolutely. And what a ridiculous day, by the way, is it the same day that Argentina played K I can't even remember. It's been kind of a long day. It's been a long long long day, but good to have everybody here. Always so good to be with you. And of course, some guests coming up. Listen, I don't know. What do you want to begin? France, are we talking France right now? Well, you know, we're going to go to France. I'll just do a quick recap. Okay, let's take a moment when Australia scored that maybe we're going to get another upset on the cards, but obviously the quality of francia even with the absence is shown through and they managed to win this game for one Giroux getting a record and scoring again and turning it on for France. We'll get to France in just a moment and the reason I say that is because we have to talk about the Mexico Poland game because we've got Sebastian Salazar joining us, Stevie Nichols coming in as well. And we don't want to be keeping severe up too late. It's probably been a very long day for him as well. Here he is. Hello? What a day. What a Quartet. What of course says it is, let's start then shall we with Mexico against Poland, Debbie. Give us your takeaways from this one because Luis Miguel let you go was pretty high on Mexico despite what we've seen from them in recent games. He thought they could bring something to this one. I suppose the big talking point, as usual, is memoir. Yeah, and that big save on Robert Lewandowski. I think there was a lot of fair negativity in pessimism around this next 15 coming into this game and into this tournament. So I think I will shock that they were able to handle the game as well as they did, especially with Robert Lewandowski. It's not just the penalty miss for him. He had one touch in a Mexican area in the whole first half of that game. Mexico really limited kind of any dangerous opportunities that he could get himself into. And then yeah, it kind of comes down to that epic moment. It's captain versus captain. Mister chip, who's our great stats guy at ESPN. He says that's the first time one captain has saved another captain's penalty. Ever in World Cup history and for memo choa to do it against Robert Lewandowski, you're saying one is Lewandowski. He usually doesn't miss from the penalty spot. But if there's two weaknesses in memos game, one, he doesn't really like to come out, right? He's a shot stopper. He's not an aerially dominant goalie. The other thing that he's not really known for is penalty saved. I mean, that's not a strong suit of his. So for him to come up in this moment and specifically in that matchup and in that area, the penalty shot was really, really a magical moment. And it's the third straight World Cup. He's done it. You know, there have been greater Mexican players. Like I always think, we're gonna Sanchez Rafa Marquez at club level much better. But if you ask like kind of the casual World Cup fan to just pick a Mexican player out of a hat, I think at this point they're probably picking memo, and that's fair. One hundred percent semi Salazar San memo a ridiculous ridiculous save from your point of one of the greatest and Robert Lewandowski. Listen, a few things that semi there set K there that are important to remember. Most of the time, because obviously half of my work is where the ESPN the porters and stuff. And when we talk about Mexico, most of the time, the glasses have empty, right? But today, I think we need to look at the positive. Look at the statistical positives of this Mexican team on what they did against Poland. They had more shots, more on target, more possession, and obviously this is an asterisk of a criticism because I really think this is where somebody like Diego Linus or even Santiago he managed to help. They didn't have anybody off the bench that really could have just penetrated more because that's the Polish game. They're reactive. They like to wait for you and then try and hate you, right? Obviously the memo show has saved was fantastic. I don't even think it was a penalty, but that's for another day. I think that Mexico should take away the fact that they go to point of a rival that is very experienced in the World Cup and they can hurt you out of nothing. I think that Mexico should build from this. Having said that, this group came is insanity, now that Saudi Arabia has beaten Argentina. I really don't know what's going to happen. But build from this point Mexico because it's something to build from because I lost obviously would have been detrimental. Steve is laughing away. That is a poor penalty though, wasn't it, Stevie, from 11 dove ski?

"Really? Yeah, yeah. You know this show is called football Americas, don't we want the biggest best games here? Why are you the way you are? Content, mostly. To what end? I get the American market is what everybody wants to go for. I get there are dollar signs behind this. But why take one of the best games in the world and one of the best competitions in the world and ruin it? Take it from what makes it great. And put it in the U.S. just because you think it's marketing dollars behind it because you want the eyeballs behind it. There is no need for this. Our production crew jokingly said that would be like taking the Super Bowl and putting it in London. Putting it in Germany. Taking the World Series and taking it to Paraguay. There is no need for these things. Some things are good the way they are. There is no need to try to alter them. This isn't one of those things where it's going to make like Todd Bowles idea. It's going to make it better. It's going to help the lower divisions fund the lower divisions and the pyramid in England. It's not what it's about. This is just straight greed. Yeah. I've never been to a Champions League Final. I've never been to a Super Bowl either, but you always hear about a Super Bowl that it's not like a real proper atmosphere. It's not a real NFL atmosphere. It's very corporate. I would assume that if you move the Champions League Final to the United States, you would get something similar. Of course you would get fans of the two teams that made the final, but you'd also get a very corporate feel. And I think obviously as much as like as an American broadcaster, we want to see this year. We have to think of the fans. We think of our own fans all the time. What about the fans in Europe? These are actually their teams. And you're going to ask them now for the biggest game of the season to go all the way across the Atlantic. That doesn't sound very fan friendly at least to me. All right, that'll do it for this edition of football America Hercules Gomez. Sebastian Salazar, by the way, we will not be back here in our usual time slot on Thursday night. No, instead, we will be up bright and early on Friday morning for immediate postgame coverage and reaction as the U.S. faces off against Japan. It's a game you can see on both ESPN+ and ESPN2. So again, football Americas back with you Friday morning after the United States and Japan. That's really early, Seb. It is really early. It is really early to have some coffee, I'll have my diet Mountain Dew and we'll be up bright and early ahead of the United States penultimate match before the World Cup.

"Emotional as well. Went to the sideline. You know, spoke with feel a little bit and we made the decision that we're not going to continue until something was done with that player. And if nothing was done, then we weren't going to continue. I think Phil spoke with the opposing coach. When they decided to take the player off, so that's what happened. Taxi fun test has posted this on Instagram. He said, I did not use the word. I'm being accused of using that despicable racial slur is one I denounce and did not use. We had a hot discussion on the field, but I have not racially abused anyone. I firmly reject racism in any form. It is despicable. I have many friends from many cultures. I always respect the culture, religion, and skin color of each person. I am therefore very upset by this accusation and sudden to be falsely accused. Sebastian Salazar is now joining us to discuss the incident further. Thanks for being with us. What's the latest on the whole situation? And as a D.C. United fan, how do you feel about it all? Well, MLS will investigate the league saying in a statement they have zero tolerance for this kind of thing, which you would expect. There is some precedent here, as far as this is concerned in Major League Soccer a year ago, there was an incident with Diego Chara Portland timbers player who was allegedly racially abused by Minnesota United player Franco Fraga pana in that case MLS investigated they couldn't corroborate what was said on the field and so there was no suspension, but according to what we just heard there from not just Deandre yedlin, but Phil Neville himself. It sounds like there's going to be plenty of people that can corroborate what was said or what wasn't said on this field. So I'd be expecting a big suspension. Obviously as a D.C. United fan, it's an incredible disappointment. I hope the league and the club will do their due diligence, look through what happened here, but if they can confirm these allegations, it's just another dark cloud hanging over this team. It's been a brutal season and taxi fun to us was one of the bright spots in that brutal season. He was a guy who came in midway through the campaign, got off to a great start as a DP, but obviously I think as a fan anyway, it's going to be really hard to root for this player if these allegations are corroborated. So you obviously you've alluded to what you think is going to happen there, said, what do you expect to happen next? What are the next steps? Well, MLS will do their investigation. Then I think it's just a matter of if they can corroborate it, which again, it sounds like what we're hearing from the inter Miami side at least. They will be able to. It's a matter of how long will that suspension be? I'm trying to think of kind of comparables. We saw Sebastian legit get just a two game suspension for a homophobic slur that he was caught using. But we've also seen cases like deloy Hansen, the owner for rail saw Lake, who eventually lost his team over allegations of racism. So there's a lot of gray area there for what MLS could do here. I'll tell you this. D.C. United has two games left in their regular season. I can't imagine that we will see taxi playing for D.C. united again. This season, again, that's if these allegations are corroborated by Major League Soccer. And I would be very surprised if he starts next season. This would probably be a very lengthy suspension, one that lasts into the next campaign for D.C. United. And something we saw there as well Shaka was that the players and the coaches have taken things into their own hands there and saying that we're not going to continue if he continues on the pitch. And I thought that was a sensible approach by the players and to the service point as much as you expect MLS will have their investigation. I despite what tax advantage may be seeing on social media. I'm not sure how he gets away with this. Given that other players from inter Miami corroborated, what was said or allegedly said, given the fact that both marriages came together on the sidelines and he was substituted, the referees couldn't take any further action because they hadn't heard it themselves. But as far as president gauze, we are two weeks short of two years to the D, junior Fleming, but playing in the USL for Phoenix rising was accused of using a hobo for mcslug against Colin Martin. Donovan was in charge of San Diego loyal at the time. And they refused to come back on the pitch. They forfeited the game, but he stood by his player who said that that junior Fleming had user a homophobic slur against him. Junior Fleming was suspended 6 games. So at the very least, that is where that is your precedent. To semi's point, we will not. Be seeing him again this season, two games, and we won't see him for the first, as I say. At the very least, first four or 5 games of next season either. Fantastic has that to look forward to despite what he may be claiming. The league have also said their own mark. There are zero zero tolerance policy league and we expect them to act as such. Because that's what we are dealing with these days as well. Players can make a statement themselves. They can push that pressure to it, and that's always been a good thing to say. Thanks so much for being with us. We'll keep everybody up to date with what happens

"Football. On this Monday night on ESPN+ longside Hercules Gomez. I'm Sebastian Salazar. How you doing over there? What you got on that shirt? Well, this is something I thought about when I realized that I had to work with you again. It says, I am a Ferrari amongst fiats. Oh. You cut me deep. You cut me deep and here I was about to mention that we just missed a very important anniversary. You know, we love a good on this date on this show and it was ten years ago, her. Yesterday, your free kick banger against Jamaican World Cup qualifying. What a moment that was about Jamaica Columbus always in my heart. Wow. Well, it would have been for you yesterday's show. We got a lot to come on today's show, Jeff Carlyle is going to join us here on football Americas to discuss among other things the fallout hurt from remember the spygate scandal down in Orlando at the open Cup final. We got Ethan horvath's interview with Sam Borden as the latest installment in our road to Qatar series. We got Santiago Jimenez heating up in Holland or maybe we should say staying hot in Holland and a tough schedule coming up in October for the U.S. women's national team. But let's start her in Liga MX where Google America. Have set a club record for consecutive wins. How do you like them apples? 9 victories in a row. After they've beaten it away on Saturday by final score of two to one, Nick ox actually took the lead in the first ten minutes, but America rallied. Thanks to goals from Jonah and dos Santos. Yes, Jonathan dos Santos and as you see that roger Martinez, the wind leaves la Salas in first place, even with monterrey on points, but with a better goal difference. And a game in hand on. All right. So what is because I know if anyone can find it, it's you. What is this global America's weakness? If I had to find a weakness because let's just say it. You're stretching to find a weakness. Are you admitting that? No, not stretching, but they've been impressive. Not just because of the 9 straight victories. But it's the way they are winning. They are clearly playing the best brand of football in all aliga mechi. And in my eyes, they're the best team in North America today. Is this a reality? But if I had to find a weakness with them, I think I pretty notable that it's going to be tan Ortiz. Just look at this game right here. They've rested players against Nick oxide. You just saw Jonathan dos Santos scoring a goal. You saw roger scoring a goal. That's because the starters weren't playing. They mixed it up versus Nick. When they probably should have waited to mix it up versus Santos midweek because what comes after is going to be el classico versus chibas. Classical nacional. So if I had to pick one, it's going to be done Ortiz and we can go back to the playoffs of last year. Playoffs in a two legged series versus pachuca and two legged series where he sits out Richard Sanchez in leg one saving him for leg two and pretty much throws away that series. A series where, instead of playing him with Martin, he experiments with political vignettes and it doesn't go his way where they lose on aggregate. Four to one. This is, if I had to pick something, had to find something what's most noticeable. Notable, I should say, it's their manager, the lack of experience by Dan Ortiz and listen, there's only one way to gain that experience, but you've learned many times.

"Here on ESPN+ on this wonderful Thursday, alongside my good man, Hercules Gomez, I'm Sebastian Salazar, epi saw the one 45 hertz. We are chugging along to one 50. One 45, look at that. Not canceled yet. I'll take it. That should be the hashtag of this show. Hashtag not canceled yet. Hopefully we don't get canceled in our next couple of shows because we got some big ones. BIG ones coming up. Spoilers at least just not yet. Today's a big show. We got an interview coming up in just a few minutes with the president of U.S. soccer. Cindy parlo cone. She's going to join us to talk about all things under the federation's watch. We've also got the roster for the MLS all star team going to face off against Liga mekis on August 10th, which of course means we're going to have a fight over who got snubbed, right? Who got left off the list? And we also have a keen eye on what's happening down in Mexico right now, the U.S. women's national team playing against Costa Rica in the semifinals of the Concacaf W championship. But we have to start this show with the existential crisis, my man that is threatening to swallow all of Mexican soccer on Wednesday, FMF, the Mexican federation, announcing that gerardo torrado had been fired as general sporting director a role that the three time World Cup participant had held since around 2017 also out. Ignacio yero, director of the national teams. Also out Luis Perez under 20 coach. We failed to qualify for the U 20 World Cup and Olympics. Monica Vergara, the women's national team coach, her fate still to be decided. As for why, let's hear from the president.

"Welcome to this edition of ESPN FC alongside Craig Burley on Sebastian Salazar, great to have you with us here on ESPN+ in just a little bit. We'll hear from Shaka his lap. Fior tov, as well, but Craig let's start with the news of the day, or at least one bit of news of the day. Calvin Phillips, the 26 year old English international looks like he's ready to make the move from Leeds to Manchester City for a reported fee of 42 million pounds. He's been with Leeds since he made his first team debut with the club back in 2000 and 15. For more perspective on this move, we're gonna welcome into the show, the four mentioned fuel talk, but Craig, I want to start with you from the Manchester City perspective. This is the right move. I think this should be a good business. A lot of people I'm a big fan of this guy had a injury ravage season, but he's a regular international footballer now. He has got a lot of Premier League experience. He's very dynamic, can play multiple possessions across the middle of the park or you can go into the back line. Passage the ball well. Not as well as some of the city players, so that's going to be an up in the standard forum. But Berlin fernandinho is gone. You've got Rodri there who are thanks a terrific player and I don't think Calvin Phillips walks straight into the team for me. Because I think Rodri is a terrific player. But when you think about it, they've had Rodri and fernandinho should have been able to balance it. They'd have an often played with to more defensive midfielders, but some things they have. But you've got to have cover, haven't you? You've got to have old alternatives and I think this is a great move because he's one of England's best talents. Yeah, and Craig mentions fernandinho moving on then, but of course Rodri is still very much in the mix for Manchester City. Is this how you would have strengthened the city squad with this move? Well, I think it's well, Craig analyzes well, but I want to add the English part of it. I mean, the three big signings have done is Grealish, harland, and Phillips, two of them English. And I think that is important also for city to show that. But I think this is a matter of great business, Phillips is in dynamic, is enormous. He's got us. I don't know if there's an English, he got a contained contagious way of playing football because when you see him play, he wants to get to the players around him doing that as well. And you can see that Pep Guardiola now is on a mission. He changes a bit in and around the team, getting new kind of skills in there. And in this mad world of fees all over the place, I think 42 million sounds like quite good business as bizarre as is my sound. So I think that it did this is great for Manchester City and there are absolutely strengthening themselves. And I think it's interesting to see how Liverpool Manchester City so narrow, of course, last season kind of mirror themselves in the way they are signing players. It's quite interesting. John why English? You said Manchester City need English players. Why? I think it's important when you have foreign owners, you have a foreign coach, mostly foreign players. I think it's important to have a core of good English players in your team because we should never forget the master city as an English club and we have to stick to that and I play in the English Premier League and call me old fashioned, but I think there should be some English. I came to England in 1993. I was a guest at TV programs telling about how to be a foreigner in English football. Now with all different. So I think that it's so important that Manchester City also have that because most of the fans in the stadium are also kind of the English fans going in there. So I think that is important. I don't think that should be underestimated. But what about the player perspective here? You said you don't see him walking into the 11. It's a World Cup year. There's months till the tournament. That could be a concern. Yeah, I'm in a sport. I think it will be a big grain for this light to leave leads. It's home these home club, but you know, maybe Bernardo Silva gets this move.

"It's cold, but it's not going to affect us too much. We've all played in cold weather, and we'll be well prepared for the game. It might not end up being a pretty schema for Paul. It could end up being a grind. I just got back from where it was snowing last game, so I think a lot of these guys are used to it playing in Europe. I think we're ready to go. You know, the cold is not going to stop us from doing what we do. And with Columbus, we're really comfortable with the fan base. We're really comfortable. That's going to be pro American. It's going to be intense, and it's going to be loud. Wait, we just need to take a game by game, win game by game, and Concacaf. None of these games are easy. I don't ever go into a game and say I want to tire or not get maximum points for me and the whole point of playing in competing is you want to win and get three points. So and every point is valuable. El Salvador is an example of a team that they're not out of it. You know, obviously we're playing at home where she even come to be quite conservative defensive and they're just going to try and get as many points out of the game as possible. We're in a good position and by the end of this window we can be in a great position. Rather than rash. Robert. You have high aspirations for our team. We want to qualify for the World Cup. That's the most important thing. The level right now in the team is amazing. And I think that, yeah, I think that we're taking steps to be joining taka. Football. And underway here on ESPN+ from lower dot com field in Columbus, Ohio. And there you hear it, the fans here are going wild. Why are they going wild? Because of this moment. Anthony Robinson, who would have thought he'd provide your game winner there it is in the 52nd minute flip it out as the Americans collect three crucial points against El Salvador on the road to guitar. Anthony Robinson. Your game winner. From the back line. Great to have you with us from here in Columbus. Casey Kelly Hercules Gomez Jermaine Jones Sebastian Salazar and feudal the hardy, the rowdy fans. Stuck around for this one. Guys, wow, what a day. What a performance in some ways in that second half. What was your big takeaway from the game? Did somehow damn made it possible to win this game? And that's how it is. If you go through all the games, second half, they made it somehow and they win the games and I think that's for that young group. It's incredible. Yeah, it really wasn't the best performance, but it's three in the bag. I mean, it's a typical Greg berry hard to performance. Doesn't start off well. Adjustments gets the result in the second half, pulls it out. Here at home, you know, by no stretch of the imagination was it pretty. Barely effective, but they grinded it out in the most, I guess, U.S. miss national team, this cycle type of way. Yeah. Yeah, it's been pretty consistent. I think, throughout this cycle, is that it hasn't been effective in the first half. They've been able to find the goals when they've needed it. They've ridden their luck at times. Couple little opportunities that El Salvador had flashes wide. But in the end, deal three points. We talked about in the pre game that we're waiting for that comprehensive round that round where they just pick up 9 points, beat some teams comfortably. Well, it has a started that way yet. Are we still in some way waiting for like a comprehensive game? Have we seen that yet from the U.S.? Yes, really? Yes. Where? The Mexico game in Cincinnati. It wasn't comprehensive. Against the rival doesn't sound too it was a great win. But I mean on those. What you're talking about and what you're talking about, is that killer instinct. Oh, it's dominating the way you should dominate like tonight. Make sure to dominate it. I started looking pretty good in what they did. That's okay? That's a lot of credit. Very much a lot of creative in that nationally, but here's the thing. If you put the chances you have in the first half away, if you say to those. On the 6th inside the 6th 100%. You put those away. It's a different game. The first one was from a little more difficult angle. It had to be precise. The second one was a dunk. Yeah. But it's still, if you guys go back and you look the games, look.

"An intercontinental playoff. Welcome to lor dot com field frigid lower dot com alongside Kasey Keller Jermaine Jones, I'm Sebastian Salazar. 19° right now it'll be 5° later tonight, but everybody focused on tomorrow's conditions. They're telling us that kick off it'll be a balmy 29° windchill of 21. Some light snow potentially in the forecast for the game. Now everybody's talking about what impact this will have on the match. Let's hear from Christian polis. He spoke earlier today. Nice. A nice field that we're playing on. And yeah, the weather is actually kind of nice today. Sun was out. It's cold, but we're going to be we're going to be ready for it and we'll be able to blow. Okay, so the idea of being in this cold was to give the United States an advantage. You played in a snow classy go is the U.S. actually have an advantage over El Salvador due to these conditions. I think we talked always about advantage about with the fence, right? You want it to have an advantage that you don't have so much fence coming from there. Opposite teams, but I think in general field, I don't think it would be an advantage because the field is good to play and there's no bumps in the field. There's no snow. Maybe we were snow a little bit, but we don't know, but I think it's will not be a big advantage. I think it's more of an issue of travel. I think it's a case where you want to find a pitch that you know is decent. You also want to have a very pro U.S. crowd and understanding where Canada chose to play their match. You don't want to have a game, let's just take Orlando, for example. You have a game in Orlando El Salvador has three hours less travel. They're in a comfortable position. You then have three hours more travel to get to your next.

"Football and underway here on ESPN+ alongside my good friend and colleague more colleague than good friend today. We are at least Gomez. I'm Sebastian Salazar. Great to be with you on this. Today. Thursday, the 13th of January and herk, if our production meeting this morning was any indication. This should be a fiery fiery episode. What is it not spicy fiery, whatever you want to call it? Lots to talk about today, Seth, as always. But whatever nonsense, her spews throughout this show make sure to listen back to it on the football America's podcast. And we do have as you said her a lot to cover the U.S. women's national team dropping their roster, Julie foud. He's going to join us a little bit later on to discuss that. We got some big games and some big news out of ligament used to follow up on plus herk, your first true love, the Major League Soccer super draft. I can't wait to discuss that. A little bit later on in the show. But right now let's kick things off by welcoming into the program. Alex, barek, I should say. Welcoming back to the program, Alex barek. You've obviously seen him seen him here on football America. You've also heard his voice. He calls gains in English and Spanish for La Liga here on ESPN+ Alex. Great to have you back with us. "Bite, man. He's got some edge. He's definitely, I think cross passed with a disciplinary committee, a time or two this year. The stats are great, right? 18 goals, 9 assists in the regular season. Three goals in the playoffs are he really brought it when his team needed him the most. I think the question now is, by the way, is how long is he going to be in New York City? Because remember, on one of the last episodes of the show, I was given New York City a lot of credit for keeping him earlier this year when there was multi-million dollar interest from abroad. One of you saw this today, but Pep Guardiola was asked about it in his press conference on Monday about Tati Castellanos and he actually said, I think Castellanos is ready for Europe. He's linked to the Premier League. Do you think he's that good? Is he ready for not just anywhere in Europe, but the Premier League specifically? 'cause the last guy we saw go MLS to the Premier League is Miguel and Miranda and I don't think he had the impact that a lot of us thought he would. Not to direct the impact. I mean, how good did you think of anyone who's gonna be at Newcastle? I thought he was gonna be better than a golf ball. He was three 11 games in the Premier League. You put me around in a different team, I think you make it a different outsell different result. Do you put that to Castellanos on city and I guarantee you he's going to score goals because they're going to create goal, scoring opportunities for him and he's that good. Yeah, but you know he's never going to get in the team at city. So where do you think he lands? That's the thing. Where do I think he lands? What's the one limitation on him right now? What's the limitation on most guys when they go to a team or a league like primarily that physically, it's not good? Well, guess what is good in Major League Soccer? Physicality. I think technically is good. I think physically has got his tactical understanding is great. I think you could play in any league. Now, if we're talking about top 5 leagues top teams, that's a different story. The respect back when it comes to Major League Soccer and making the jump is a bit different, but he's 23 years old. He was getting looks at what the Argentine Olympic team, I really think this guy can make the jump and be an impact player on very good pain teams. Okay, well, if he stays, it'll go a long way in answering our next question, which is New York City FC, the next dynasty herc in Major League Soccer. We kind of been waiting on one to come up out of the nothing in the east since Toronto started to fade. Is New York City then you think the premiere team moving forward in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer. If New York City FC Castellanos and they can rejuvenate themselves in certain areas, I already think they're a very good team. This is a team that's been very good. I'm saying dynasty of these. Listen Sebastian Salazar, this is a team that's been no less than 5th in the conference and their conference since inception. There used to be in the podium one, two or three on the Eastern Conference. I already think they're of that dynasty type. They just needed something like this to cement themselves. If they keep Tati Castellanos, I'm not talking dynasty Major League Soccer. I'm talking about the first team to win the concave Champions League. That's the hopes I have for New York City FC.

"Awesome. I'm so excited. I'm just in the game, you know? So grateful that's incredible. Guy Gosselin, man, thanks so much for the time. Great to have you here on thank you and he goes and continued success in the beginnings of what for sure will be a long career. Thank you. Thank you for having me. Here he is, Gaga Selena years old. Where were you at 70? Actually, you know what? I don't know. I don't know what you were want to know what you were looking at. Working at a bank. Wow. Not playing professionally, that's for sure. You had a better job than I did. I was working at blockbuster at 17, so that was my job at 16. Hollywood video. Yeah. Funny, both of those are not out of business. Probably has something to do with us working there. Any big takeaways from the interview there with Gaga seleni obviously the topic of dual nationals came up. He does have Polish heritage. So there is a choice looming for that young man. There is a choice the hefty goals he not only talks about joining the program, but starting for a program, you know, potentially playing a World Cup in a program. And our producer mentioned it, the quotes, I mean, I assume that's his parents house. I can't imagine by himself at age 17. But the quotes around his room, what I assume is his room, motivational quotes. He seems to have a good head on his shoulder seems to know what he wants. And I couldn't help but thinking when I'm watching the burrito, I've seen him play. He's looks like a big kid, especially next to you. I mean, you make him look a lot bigger, but his face, you can very much see Seb. He's very much a kid. He's a teenager he's 17 and just blows my mind. Did you see how I had my hair very poofed up there to give me a little bit of sight? He has 6 foot four, by the way, it's 17. You know, kids that are that tall, they're not done growing at 17. If this kid ends up being 6 5 or 6 6, her. Look at he already knows he's a monster. You heard him talk about it in that interview, but if he gains a couple more inches of height, he could be a real handful for not just MLS strikers, but maybe strikers on the international level. We'll still be talking about this show. Later in the week, we'll be back on Thursdays. We're working on some special special stuff. We expect rosters to be dropped this week as well. "Told Gregg halter, sell us the idea of this progressive football. This possession based football with wing progressions. This exciting brand of offensive football. You took over. We're talking about what we finished qualifiers. Let me finish nobody said tout out the youngest lineup you can find Greg. Nobody said, make a makeshift lineup 7 changes to it and tout it out against Panama. That was you. And we certainly didn't say put yourself behind the 8 ball and leave it all to the final window in the final home game in Columbus, Ohio. That was Greg Bernard. He talks about this external pressure. About, hey, this isn't going to be easy. It's not what you guys think. We didn't say that. You said that. Your team last FIFA fixture date said 9 points. So the pressure was on you. You said they were going to play a certain way. So the pressure's on you. You tout out this young lineup, so the pressure is on you. You made 7 changes. The pressure is on you. I don't know why all of a sudden they want to get insecure with this. 6 points was the bare minimum you had to do. The bare minimum and he did that. So the main charge here for Greg berhalter is probably like that he over rotated, right? That's the main thing that we can accuse him of. But if we look back, I think he actually didn't over rotate. The 7 changes against Panama. When we look at what Mexico did in their last game against outside of the world, they made 8 changes, right? And they were still able to go into El Salvador and win that game to nothing hurt. And what we learned there is that the Mexican players, Mexico's second group was capable. I think the Panama game was not a failure of Greg berhalter. It was some players who had individual bad nights at a very bad time. They lost that game. Greg berhalter's rotation did not. If that doesn't satisfy you, let me look at the guys at the teams that didn't rotate. And what happened to them? Panama. Remember, we said, oh, they only made two changes from their first to the second game against the United States. They only made one change from their second to their third game. What happened in that third game? What happened in the second half of that third game? They shipped three goals in 12 minutes against Canada and lost four to one. That's a huge defeat for Panama. Let's focus in on Costa Rica. Why don't we? Costa Rica made three changes from their second to their third game, two of those changes, by the way, forced, or these because of COVID-19 and Joel Campbell because of an injury. And what happened to Costa Rica in the second half? We literally saw the human definition of somebody running out of gas in Brian Ruiz. Costa Rica didn't have it in the 6th half of these three games. Do not confuse. And that's why they got those three points. Go ahead. You can't, you can't criticize them objectively. If you can't criticize, subjectively about how they play and this and that, you can, but objectively you can not criticize because you you set out the minimum. You said it was 5 points last time, and he hit that. Now you said it was 6 points, and without Christian ballistic, and without your pointy hit. I'm criticizing how he went about it. This is where you're so far off. You're naming these teams. You forget, they took each game at a time. They made their rotation. How did it work? Did anyone beside Sebastian Salazar is what you're telling me? You're comparing you. You can ferry goes to rika, whose youngest player was 27 years old against the U.S. men's national team, who's all this player was 26 years old on that day. You can not compare the two. You're comparing depth on one squad to another. You can't compare the two. The circumstances are different. This is why it was a failure for Greg beholder. Not the points because that was a bare minimum. Nobody's gonna say they didn't get what they needed to get. I'm telling you Panama was there for the taking and he didn't take it. He got too cute. All right, you want to get subjective? Let's be subjective. Let's grade the performance against Costa Rica. Because there, I think we can maybe in a more friendly manner agree to disagree. Now, which grading scale are we going to use here? Because I got in a lot of hot water for my E's last time around. So we go, ABCD, F, what grade are you giving this U.S. team for the performance against Costa Rica? I'm going to give them a B it's just a B, it's not to be minus, none of you plus, and like.

"Let's look back on the us as nil-nil draw with el salvador in world cup qualifying match of the octogonal round of concacaf world cup qualifying and to look back on everything. That went down he's sebastian. Salazar and hercules gomez. Thank you very much all right. A million ways to break down this first match of the qualifying cycle for the us. Let's start first by analyzing not the performance but the result itself a scoreless. Draw away against salvadoran. The first of three. Are you satisfied with it. Satisfied wouldn't be necessarily the word it's acceptable right. It's this road formula you steal steal away and you secure points at home so if we're going by that formula team that didn't qualify last world cup because they failed to secure points at home because they failed to steal points away then. Yeah by that standard. I wouldn't say satisfied. But it's an acceptable result. So yeah acceptable i mean. Isn't this the most talented generation of us players ever. Isn't it also the most accomplished at club level of all time at some point. Don't we have to the expectations. A little bit yeah. Let's be honest and say give level. Yes at club level by far. That's not even debate. Let's give go pederson salvador all the credit that you want. There's not a single player hurricane team. That's getting anywhere near the. Us eleven the us eighteen twenty six for these games. I mean you are so obsessed with where guys play you. Want to eat horvath who hardly plays a start over matt. Turner salvador has zero players playing top flight football in europe. Not top five league football light football in europe when you have such a decided advantage of the. Us doesn't tell there. Shouldn't the expectation beat to win. If now that vantage when will it be to win.

"Liverpool losing to burnley by final score of one nil a late penalty for ashley. Barnes the difference and this result significant on so many levels for matches in a row without a goal in the league for liverpool a sixty eight match. Home unbeaten streak snapped. You gotta go back to early. Two thousand seventeen almost four years ago for the last time liverpool lost a premier league game at anfield. They now six points off the league lead from our perspective. We welcome in stuart robson shock his lob julian the ron robbo all start with you. What's gone wrong at liverpool. Well in the last few games the final pass hasn't been quite good enough. They played with the fluency today. They go to into some very good areas. I mean trent alexander. Arnold must have had the ball twenty thirty times inside the burnley box with time to pick out across play cross into the box and he picked out the wrong option and the movement in the box. Particularly the first of wasn't good enough. You wanted to come short at times and rather mike dynamic hawksley <unk>. Was on the right hand. Side is not really a front. Bless we've moved wasn't great in the box amani trying to the runs the deliveries from trent alexander. Arnold were good enough. He should've just been whipping booze. The goalkeeper in the back four and allowing people to mike runs into it. He was trying to pick people up. So they're they're lacking confidence at the moment you can tell that guy moron and other disappointing display from the shock. It wasn't for a shortage of opportunities. Perhaps nothing more symbolic liverpool recently than that. Remiss handed an opportunity and couldn't put it in. Yeah it was a rather ridiculous defensive era that the letter again and yet a lot of ground to cover before taking the chance on and let's be honest as good. As as nick pool was all game long. he shouldn't have said a chance to we. Went for a little bit too much. Pays the crossbar kind of some some liverpool up over recent weeks. They've been getting opportunities. But i just feel too many in that squad seem to have misplaced the shooting boot

Inside the US Soccer Equal Pay Fight

"Foudy is a soccer commentator for ESPN and was a member of the US women's national team from nineteen eighty seven to two thousand four. She also hosts a podcast laughter permitted so Julie. It's been a chaotic few days. I use the word chaotic relatively now for American soccer late last week the president of the US Soccer Federation. Carlos Cordeiro resigned. What was the chain of events that brought that about? We need a couple of days and a lot of wind for that. Actually I think we have that actually right now we do. It all started obviously with the lawsuit that the women filed last March for gender discrimination and then there was a brief that really triggered this avalanche. That was released last week. There central argument was women are inherently inferior to men to this from the US defense quote. The job of a men's national team player requires a higher level of skill based on speed and strength and does the job of a women's national team player. He response was immediate federation saying that Biological Sciences. The reason why men should make more money than the women. You've got to be kidding. Me Arrogance and ignorance here is outstanding. It's mind blowing. This woman are the best at what they do in the world in the world. How how can they be compensated? What then transpired was we were in the middle of our coverage of the she believes up which is an annual tournament that the women play and it was their last game of the tournament and my play by play. Guy Actually looks at me Sebastian. Salazar points to his phone and puts his finger up like hold on. I need to read. Something just been handed a statement from USF President Carlos Cordeiro and he proceeds to read this apology on air from Carlos. Cordeiro apologize for the offensive pain caused by language in this week's court filing which did not reflect the values of our federation or a tremendous admiration of our women's national team women's National Cordeiro saying I hadn't properly read the brief. I apologize for what's in there. We're firing our legal team and hiring late them and walk INS. I literally had to take about a five second pause and gather myself because my head was about to implode these players are getting deposed all the time they're being asked questions like you lose the fifteen year olds though right so you're inferior rights so you know this is happening. You have to know that the players are feeling it is well known was buying it and to give us the statement on air. I thought was a terrible idea for me to react to it. I don't get how you ever get to this position where you're okay with letting your legal team run all these depositions in that manner and making that that central tentpole of your arguments and the very next day. Carlos Cordeiro resigned as President Julia. Why do you think the backlash resulted so quickly in Cordero's resignation? I think the sponsors helped I think. They saw the reaction from some of their biggest partners. Coca Deloitte Volkswagen. The statements they put out. Were words like we're disgusted by this. We would never associate with an organization that thinks this way yet. We stand by the Women. If you're US soccer they feel like they're on the brink of something in in a very negative way and so they knew they had to do something quickly. Obviously this moment puts the players in a bit of a weird spot. Where in the midst of all this? They're playing event wearing the shield for us soccer's actively trying to undercut their standing as highly skilled athletes. How did they react honestly? Who was so proud of how they handled it. Us and Japan have on the world soccer's biggest stage and today they meet with the two thousand twenty. She believes title on the line. We've been given a heads up that they were gonNA wear their jerseys inside out. The warmup jerseys wrestler wearing their warm up uniforms inside out. We're told this is in response to the latest legal filings by the US federation. Usually they take that photo with just the starting eleven before you start a game. And you're in your jerseys. They kept their warm up jerseys on and they had the team stand in solidarity. They knew they had to play but they also wanted to be clear. Like this is not okay. We don't stand for what their argument they're making. They always have the. Us Women's national team proved their worth on the field. Three to one over Japan. They are she believes cup. Champions on air right after as we've seen all over social media her response was spot on like I want every little girl to know that you're not lesser than a boy
