Russell Wilson still wants Antonio Brown in Seattle
"Elements so last week long time. Nfl insider. john. Clay said on ninety three seven. Bannon pittsburgh that russell wilson is lobbying the team to sign super bowl winning receiver antonio brown wilson's name has come up in trade talks this season Obviously he hasn't been fully pleased with the seattle seahawks. That's no secret max kellerman. What's your reaction to wilson wanting. I'm confused here. I'm confused because abc does not come the same discount. He came on last year. The bucks right. There's a market for him. Now that's going to be more competitive than it was so it's not just like give basically getting abc for free. He wants them to lure a be away from a super bowl winning team with a great quarterback who still doing it and a great defense and everything all the things that russell wilson was complaining. He doesn't have right. Like i'm confused. Because ross i thought this was about your offensive line which through under the bus or not having a defense. Well there's a limited limited resources in the nfl per team. There's a salary cap. So you must rob peter to pay paul for every cent you spend on antonio brown. You can't spend that sent on your offensive line poor on your defense and it's not like you don't have metcalf and lock it. You have a receiving corps so of course what quarterback wouldn't want to throw the ball to. He's one of the greatest. Whoever did it but given the situation. He's lobbying for another receiver. I thought that was about the offensive line or the defense
Shaquill Griffin exits Seattle Seahawks, heading to home state Jacksonville Jaguars
"Losing a Pro Bowl defensive player to Jacksonville. Here's Bill 48 Pass breakups and 16 picks in four seasons playing corner for the Seahawks. Play action, again by Shaquille Griffin, A person familiar with negotiations says Jacksonville and Shaquille Griffin have agreed to a three year contract worth up to 44 a half million dollars, including 29 million guaranteed. It's the most significant move for Jag's new head coach, Urban Meyer. When brother should keen Griffin, also a free agent could be leaving Seattle to join the Jacksonville team.
Predictions vs Reality NFC West, Seattle Seahawks
"I predicted the Seattle Seahawks to go 11:00 and 5 last year. I pretty much nailed it. They went 12 and for the only game I missed was the San Francisco 49ers. I could not predict that the $59 would have a bunch of injuries. I thought that the Seattle Seahawks and the 49ers would split their series each win one game against each other instead Seattle beat the 49ers in both games. So that's literally the one game it's kind of crazy. I was horribly wrong about the Cardinals the Rams the 49ers. I nailed Seattle. My prediction was right there for I'm actually not that interested in Seattle. Like I like I said, I'm actually way more fascinated when I get stuff horribly wrong. I said before the year that Seattle relies too heavily on Russell Wilson, they're starting quarterback 2000sq them from their problems and kind of ended up being true now, they brought in the receiver Phillip Dorsett. They brought in Phillip Dorsett from New England. I was curious to Phillip Dorsett kind of a breakout year and Go from a guy who was infuriating to watch a New England to maybe having a great season playing with Russell Wilson. Unfortunately Phillip Dorsett did not play a single game the poor guy hurt his foot in training camp and by November Phillip told I was getting surgery to remove bone spurs from his foot. I encourage you look up a bone spur does not look like a comfortable thing but credits yet. I Seattle try to get Russell Wilson some Playmakers. I thought we were set to not work out. Josh. Gordon did not work out. They brought in. You know Speedy Josh Gordon. He had a setback in recovery. Seattle had to end up cutting him so long so brought in Greg Olsen. They they got a veteran tight end Greg Olsen and I look I got a lot of respect for Greg Olsen. He's awesome. Last year Greg Olsen. However was underwhelming had 24 catches for 239 yards one touchdown played an only 11 games missed a couple of games with an injury. So in the end Greg Olsen retired, so Phillip Dorsett, Josh Gordon, Greg Olsen, like the move Seattle made to try to support Russell Wilson just didn't work out and that's not bad. It just it didn't it didn't work. Unfortunately right now again, I love Greg Olsen. He's amazing. I cannot wait to hear the guy in the broadcast booth next year. But now the one thing that came out very very well for Seattle on offense was DK Metcalf. G came back up Seattle second-year receiver. Oh my gosh. This guy is a monster. He had 83 catches for 1303 yards 10 touchdowns. I love to see that DK Metcalf is a receiver that is just at the beginning of his eventual domination over the NFL. He already does dominate in some games. So he keeps getting better and better and he keep getting better and better the more we watch him. Now as I look back on Seattle season, one of the things that kind of sticks out to me that's very weird still is I just did not love their 2020 first-round picks Seattle is kind of known for having weird. First round draft picks. They drafted linebacker Jordan Brooks 27th overall. And he was her early on so Jordan books now, I will say I'm not going to trash on Jordan books by the end of the year. He made some plays with doing some good stuff like Jordan Brooks. Very good football player solid right desert looks like a first-round pick the end of the year. But here's what's weird to me is that when the Seattle Seahawks went to a nickel package meaning that you bring in an extra corner or defensive back onto the field to basically stop the past when they win to track a package which is happening more and more in the NFL because teams are throwing more and more than ever before. In a nickel package. Jordan Brooks is on the sidelines not playing maybe part of that is because they were he's a rookie. They're trying to light workload. I don't know but it's kind of weird to draft a first-round pick and then not have the guy on the field. All the time makes me wonder despite Jordan Brooks being a very solid football game. Could they not have got drafted somebody 27th overall last year that could have contributed even more to their team. Just a question. I'm asking cuz I looked at it. I still book how it's bit of an odd pick life. Even though Jordan Brooks can play it's like whack could they not have done something better or maybe more interesting than Jordan Brooks just me asking a question here. You can answer for yourself. I'm just for me. I'm like man, you spend a first-round pick on a guy who's not on the field all the time,
Seattle Seahawks Today: Latest Rumors On A Russell Wilson Trade
"Originally or a few a few weeks ago russell. Wilson's camp released some information that he was unhappy in seattle. They have not formally requested a trade but it seems like the relationship has some conflict there. he has a no trade clause in his contract. There were specific exemptions from four. Team's the cowboys. The saints the bears and las vegas after dak prescott signed is extent like talked about and the raiders recently have back derek carr. They've given their full support. They they wanna move forward their cars. So that really leaves the saints and the bears as the final two candidates for possibly getting russell wilson this offseason so saints are always in salary cap trouble From what. I've learned about the salary cap they can. They ended up being able to just move money around when they need to. But they're always close to reaching that point so they're always during the cat but it seems unlikely that they will be able to make a move for quarterback this price in this caliber. So when you re comes down to it. The bears like the front runners as the most desperate team. Four quarterback if you've watched the nfl shares have always had quarterback issues. They've been in quarterback hell so to speak for the past two decades and russell. Wilson could come in and immediately fix that so the bears are desperate. And i see the bears as the front running candidate to lead russell wilson or land russell. Wilson this offseason. So when did all this start with russell. wilson is come out of nowhere I would say to myself when i first saw. Russell wilson wants out. I was shocked. But although it's not that cut and dry comes down to russell wilson. Mp carol's relationship. So they've won a superbowl. They made playoffs made. They made the playoffs. Eight times in the last nine seasons which is absurd. It's absurd to think there was wasn't been playing in the nfl for the last nine seasons But he's been assault as they come. He's true winner. he goes to the playoffs. he's clutch and i see. The situation is very similar to the tom. Brady situation new england. You had tom brady and bill play for all those years. Winning all those super bowls and talk. Although tom brady wasn't playing up to his level he wasn't playing bad and they had that loss to the titans of the playoffs. And i think he just had those two egos bill. Belichick and tom brady kind of going at each other. And they've they've finally kind of just tired of that relationship and they wanted to move on. They wanted to start. Something new. And when quarterbacks are with the head coach for so long things start to take a turn for the worst so. I'm not sure if that's exactly what's happening with p carroll and russell wilson but there are a lot of similarities there so it was reported in week. Eleven of the season. That wilson stormed out of an offensive meeting when he was trying to offer insight as to what he wanted done as on a bit done for protection standpoint and so that was the first sign the second sign is just overall. He's been getting hit way. Too much. says he's sacked. He's been three hundred ninety four times since entering the league which is on pace to be the most sat quarterback of all time which is pretty insane when you consider how well he's played and he's just been under duress running for his life literally for the last his whole career and so seattle hasn't found a way to kind of sure up that protection for him. I think that's starting to get frustrating as well. So but more specifically in two thousand twenty. He had a week nine loss to the bills. This was a defining moment for this offense offense because after that moment. Russell wilson had started to throw a lot of turnovers making a lot of risky plays they lose to the bills. The seahawks kind of started to scale the offense back like i said to limit turnovers and did not perform well for the rest of the season so before that game. They were top. Three league based on expected points added per play. They were the number three the top three leak and then after that game from from weeknight on they felt a number eighteen the remainder of the season. So that's a huge huge drop off so they really sputtered down the stretch. They were able to win games and make the playoffs through to their defense. Kind of picking picking up. Their play was weird. Their offense was so good in the beginning the defense awful and he kind of flipped that latter half of the year but he's also getting hit It doesn't seem to meet on their offensive loss of beat philosophy and he. He's definitely voiced that he wants more of a say. In the franchise direction as the franchise quarterback so all these things culminating into one is. Where would he end up.

Seahawks management not happy with Russell Wilson
"Some drama in the streets russell. Wilson's team his personal team of fended his. Nfl team his nfl team is not happy with the russell team or russell. Right now. Allegedly will russell wilson be traded. Is russell wilson. The man that the seattle seahawks won all in on and got rid of everybody else could force his way out of seattle because he doesn't like the way he's being protected his chef came out and said hey. Listen we don't like what's going on on the football field. His promotional manager his marketing manager his agent his strength and conditioning coach his body guru. Everybody that is on the team. Patrick was this a plan by team three to get a little bit of drama contrivances sparked so that maybe they could get russell wilson out of seattle into another city that maybe they feel he'd be able to win a super bowl again at be back in that conversation back in the mvp conversation and all that because that seems a little bit of a combo there. We're going to leak some shit. About how pissed off we are. Then we're gonna have russell wilson by the way chug somebody's celsius me. Die right there.

Russell Wilson is the epitome of what you want from a franchise player. No, he's never won the M v P, But he's a great athlete and an even better person. Nine of the Ten Last Super Bowl Teams Have a Soccer Interest
"Piece about how the nine of the 10 last Super Bowl teams have a soccer interest, meaning they own one or partially own wonder controlling interest. Who else is involved in with that list? In that list. Well, well, you go back to the San Francisco 40 Niners were in the Super Bowl last year against the Chiefs. They actually just this week increase their equity ownership of leads. United from I think it was 15% of 37% spent up over 50 million English pounds Theo to do that. The Atlanta Falcons have been in a Super Bowl against the Patriots. Both of those teams have MLS stakes. The L. A Rams, who lost to the Patriots the following season. Their owner owns Arsenal on if you go further back beyond just the last five years, the Seattle Seahawks their owners own a piece of the MLS. Founders, But that's really the extent of it. It's more the last five. Six years where you've seen this trend before that, it was it was Seattle and the Patriots. The Patriots on the MLS is revolution that play at the same Stadium is the Patriots, and it's a It's not just the football connection. You point out two different multi team ownerships, right? Some of these guys have some of these owners. Obviously you're super wealthy. It's fun. They they love sports. There's a part of that. Um, there are certainly owners who go at it that way. I mean, I think the new owner of the New York Mets see Cohen goes out and looks at it from this is fun. This is something I've always wanted to do. I am asking you right now not to look away. This time. Chad Wheeler is accused of choking his girlfriend to the point that she lost. Consciousness twice. There are photos as well. And they're even worse. It's time for the league and its teams to make it very clear where they stand. When it comes to domestic violence. The same can be said. For

"So forgive me too mom no question in my mom. Obviously the guys that we have coaching staff. How we practice is unbelievable. You know what i mean and going into it. Obviously you know started the season. We had a lot of ups and downs. A lot of guys hurt including myself and my ankle couch broke my and they gotta start putting respect on his defenses night because his defense is playing lights out and to me. Well they do sound like they don't play like jamal. Adams has been really good. Thomas rawles you know. Thomas rawles but but remember to like we can remember this. We don't have to go back to sixteen or seventeen or fifteen remember like the first few weeks of the season. Go back and listen to podcasts. Oh my gosh hear the explosions on the field and how fast they were playing and then what happened. Jamal got hurt. Jamal went out and obviously some areas got exposed. And and you know all the things that we just got done talking about with personnel. You lose bruce irvin he gotta move caja around jordan brooks is also out. Dj reads not even in the picture dunbar with his broken knees trying to play. Can't cover can cover space so you know there's all of those things had also contributed and communication happens when you start working together. We exer- doing shows every day together when you actually spend time together when you're on defense coordinators this year in the nfl. I've heard this term hadn't really heard it before. But they call it time on task. How much time on task do we have. The same people repin the same things all out there together on the practice field working through it and having new vermoti. He's going to be a nickel. And we're gonna play more nickel and we're going to do that in dj. You're going to be the other corner and jamal and in and digs you two are going to go to the pro bowl. You can communicate together and right. I mean he just had time on task and you're starting to. I think really reap the benefits of that in malls right man. Communication can't communicate when it's all sorts of different people doing different things in different schemes. And when you start to dial in figure out who and what you are giving the right place you have a chance to be pretty good. You got to be in the right place. And that's why of all the various reasons. And there's a lot of them. Ken norton gonna be right at the top of my list because now the guys are in the right place so that's his job as offensive coordinator. Get the guys in the right place. Put him in a position to succeed. And that's been the case for the better part of a month and you could see against san francisco and probably cj beathard and then onto the playoffs some New year's eve. I mentioned brought one of my favorites. You can let us send take care of you and your celebration this year for new year's eve how about an exquisite five course meal you like a big new. It's kind of a great analogy. Great metaphor too to russell and the seahawks. Like in december's past just you know. He was racing for an mvp a couple years ago. Just let them let them do his things burden them all put it all on him and look good. It looks so put it on there. Like yes but loves it. The garneau christmas tree. Yes russell wilson with this offense is ideal. What though the garland doesn't look as good as you think it does. I thought it looked good for a long time. We've sort of beaded garland and stuff but the problem is and i have a noble i. What kind of trees but with a noble for like there's a lot of branches and when you end up putting the garden on it droops which sort of creates that like charlie brown christmas tree looking which is fine until you take a picture of it and you're like oh that actually just look sloppy it i you think it looks good and then ultimately look sloppy just looks sort of thrown together So this year's tree looked a little bit more professional. Sometimes less is more. And maybe maybe they're maybe there is your your analogy for the have. I'll tell you this is the best. They've been playing heading into the playoffs since two thousand fourteen or fifteen. When's the last time they were playing this well heading into the playoffs. Yeah two thousand fourteen. But you know it's fake. How smirking over there. And i can't see how well now he is now that you said that is because as you say that i know how smirking because i don't know what do we have a five hundred thousand people that. Listen to this podcast audi. So he's just under his visit two hundred and fifty thousand of them that are like i am song if i could punch you in the face right now. You think this is good football. You know there are so many people they hear you say that right. Now in their cringing they are so mad at is so ridiculous good. Football was september good. Football was just putting the ball up and down the field and scoring points and winning and five and this is just down to the wire this is. they're not playing good football and you know is half the audience. Saudi three quarters of the audience. How much of the audience that will take this in half the audience wants to be in the face anyway. It has nothing to do with what i just said about the diagram. It's probably the same people right over the top vision matter. How many of honestly how. You're good lord. Bitter this how many listening heard sulks say that in just cringe like how can you say. They're playing their best ball. How can you say this is great. Look and football. How can you say fat joe. Bach wanted out at halftime. He's like just nothing happening here. I'm gonna talk about the paint on the ceiling. Joe is out. He hated the first half. I was so surprised as many games. He's the nfl. As many playoff games. He's called the nfl to have that react. It was a good hard physical tough knows. Football game look like a bunch of ineptitude. No i don't know what to do. We can't do anything. Have to be fair to joe. He's a number one team he doesn't have to call taylor heineken. Or whatever the guy's name is like that doesn't happen to joe right. I mean he's kind of living a charmed life. He doesn't call call call bed football games like if joe's there you know he's calling the best he's been calling drew brees and aaron rodgers of those guys for years good and this is the most explosive offense in the history. The nfl like we talked last week about all the comebacks and that was a fun story. You know i get these same notes. And i should send them to send you guys did. I was too much reading. I was out okay. i sent you the packet. I thought anymore you tapped out okay. But this is far. As point scored a touchdown score spend the most prolific year in the in the history of the nfl. So that's what. Joe and troy and in a lot of viewers and people think so a six six games. Not much happening here joe. Come on. they were going back and forth. There's lot of hidden. It was good defensive football. It was old school. I loved it. Maybe i'm maybe i am getting old because it didn't look like the big twelve and i was still okay with it but brock. This is the best. They've been playing since i think to. Let's say two thousand fifteen. They were playing pretty well then but two thousand sixteen just to go through quickly just to remember. Two thousand sixteen was the arrest was hurt right. Their defense was awful. They ended up beating a really bad detroit team at home and then they went on the road to atlanta brockhouse. The game i watched at your house and they got destroyed. I got taken down. Had there not been a penalty called on the kick. No return has been closed and no close. No they they were ho. Their defense was bad and it got funded by atlanta that year. Two thousand seventeen. I know it wasn't that year because they missed the playoffs. Two thousand eighteen was the dallas loss. Right now that's the one that people tend to disagree on a lot of people think their offense was too much running. And this and that. I remember their defense giving up third. And fifteen for a touchdown. At the end of the game with bobby wagner frank clark hitching right all completely whipping on tackling dak prescott but hey we all have different memories of that game so maybe you would say that one and then the offense was bad..

"And see how much you could be saving national average annual car insurance savings new customer survey to save with progressive in twenty nineteen. So you could probably guess folks. We are going to be so juiced up for the second half of the show and we're going to be saying nothing but positive things about a defensive group that won this football game. They are the reason they won this game and there were some various things went into this victory. Three key points that we are going to address the first one was the defensive line beating up on the seattle offensive line and running them down throughout this game. They wore them down from the beginning of the game. All the way into the third and fourth quarter and we didn't necessarily see those dividend payout early on. We had to wait a little bit they were. We saw that penetration we saw the disruption the holes that were being. Shut down the push that was coming from the giants defensive line off the ball on every snap but once the third fourth quarter came and chad wheeler came into the game. That was when they came to feast. That was when the big boys came to eat. And that includes jubal sheared who is starting to play more and more and i'm starting to see more positive things for minutes. He's starting to step up in play. The the overall group beat the crap out of this seattle ofensive line and they did exactly what they needed to do to win this football game. Despite the giants not really sending a whole lot of extra pressure was mostly four man rushes and despite that they were still able to get home for for five sacks and ten quarterback hits. Yes the i kind of have to wonder a little bit if the seahawks offensive line which we noted before the game. There's a there's a big discrepancy in how they deal with pressure in the quick passing game versus how they deal with pressure when russell wilson has to hold onto the ball or chooses to hold onto the ball and we did see periods. Where wilson had all day. I there were a couple. Plays one of which will wind up resulting in a sack. But there were a couple of plays where wilson had much. Time behind the line of scrimmage that his feet actually stopped. Which is a thing you do not see with a quarterback of his caliber where he was just standing standing there holding the ball looking waiting hoping for somebody to come open but then there are other instances particularly as you said late in the game. When chad came in but even right up on the first play the game the giants were getting some quick pressure winner. Williams had a few quick pressures throughout the game. I play a game dalvin. Tomlinson drives ethan. Patrick right back into wilson's face. Got the ball off. But he got a ton of push in the giants. Were able to shut down a lot of those rushing lanes there get disruption get their hands up to clog those passing lanes and eventually they were able to take advantage of what the secondary was doing. Yeah what the secondary was doing. And i think what really played into the success in this game. He talked about russell. Wilson standing there if you go back and watch folks which i encourage you to if you can. You'll see a lot of russell. Wilson just trying to figure out what the heck is going on in front of him in what was able to create that level of confusion for an mvp candidate quarterback was rotating and shifting guys not only with the coverage but also through a blitz. And when you run a zone blitz scheme with atten tales is showing certain guys coming and then possibly dropping those guys basically not telling the offense who is actually sending the pressure. In some of these instances you might drop an outside linebacker who is a pass rusher or you might even drop defensive lineman in these instances instead sending a linebacker but what this does not only leave the offensive line confused but it also confuses the hell out of the quarterback. You do it well enough. Because he'll be looking in one spot. Saying i've got this route open over here. But then suddenly someone drops into zone coverage right in that spot. He will be then confused like all right now. Where do i go with the football and justice. He's making a decision like we saw in. This game. pressure was coming his way where he didn't think somebody was coming. So all the delayed pressure the stunts. The changing of coverages. This was a. I feel like we say every week chris. This was a masterfully designed game by patrick graham because he did exactly what was needed to confuse a quarterback that some people think is not confuse. -able yeah i we say this every week because it's kind of true every week yet. Patrick graham is he is just having incredible stretch. Coaching and this secondary is playing so so well at this is one reason. Why am i'm consistently annoyed with the nfl. For not releasing the all twenty two tape as soon as the game has done because they have you know we all know they have that tape. They could have it up immediately but instead they make us wait a day to three days they get up when they feel like it pretty much. I would love to see when we're prepping to do this. Show exactly what the giants are doing in the secondary. It's difficult when you just have the tv angle to work with because the tv angle follows the ball zooms. In on the line of scrimmage you get a look at the secondary at the snap and then you don't really see it again until a passes thrown by at least from what i saw. The giants did a lot of playing field open coverage so either cover two or cover four schemes which a lot of zone coverage keeping guys deep to try to take away. The the deep passes that seattle has done so so well but what they started out. Playing was seldom what they were actually playing. You know you saw the that cover for it. After the snap it would rotate into a cover to quarterbacks with come up and play shallow zones or two men they play man coverage on the outside or one of those deep safeties would sprint down and it would actually be a cover three look or underbrush peppers a sack giants were showing cover to the start and it was actually a cover one scheme which left that extra player available to blitz into the backfield and all of that disguise. It forced wilson to hold onto the ball. He held onto the ball longer than anyone else in the nfl. Yesterday it was almost three and a half seconds his time to throw and that gave the giants pass rush the time needed to get to him which he is an athletic guy. He is a mobile guy. But as we've noted the seahawks offensive line is not great at protecting when they have to protect for three or more second yet. That is when they start to break down. I i noted a couple of plays where offensive lineman just took their eyes off of the giants pass. Rushers they would go to block somebody else and leave a guy free to rush into the backfield and that is the thing. That just doesn't happen if russell wilson is able to get rid of the ball quickly if he's able to decipher that defense quickly and there's one other thing i noticed and this has been happening more and more over the last couple of weeks in particular and that's the giants defensive backs playing receivers hands yet. They aren't necessarily going up to try to take the ball away from receivers but instead they are attacking those hands at the catchweight and something bradberry has done all season long. But now we're starting to see is jadu receiving drill peppers do a more receiving logan ryan do it more a donate homes and julian love. Start to do it more. And more and that. I think is very quietly coach. Point which has been key to how well the secondary's play the just. Lastly a simpler point to wrap up our breakdown. One thing that popped out to me what became an ultimate difference maker from a second look was how important these sacks and the turnovers were the offensive line for seattle played very sloppy and they were not protecting the football as well as they could have been. There are a lot of balls that were punched out and that completely shifted momentum. And i would argue again. This kind of goes with what i was talking about earlier with. Colt mccoy if your defense dominates by creating turnovers in creating sacks. You almost don't even need really high high-end well rounded off of production now. You're not going to get away with that every single week but to win a football game like this. You can boost your. You're struggling offense by handing them the football at midfield and they were able to actually take advantage of those opportunities because they were then able to run the ball so well. So if it wasn't for these turnovers all of these sacks creating third and forever plays. I don't know how this game would have turned out. It was the biggest one of the biggest reasons why they won. This game at seattle yet definitely. It seemed like especially in the second half every time. The seahawks would start to get momentum. They'd start to get a second in short or pick up a first down almost immediately. You would see them with a second twenty five or a third and fifteen a third in eighteen really forcing russell wilson to have to go.

"After we did the watch. Not the coaches phil but the rewatch the broadcast film. Just based on the time frame of what is available to us. So chris i want to open up with this point here one that were very much in agreement with and i think that the first three games of this four game winning streak were good wins but they were against struggling teams washington is hotter out of the other two but the bengals without joe burrow not a good football team the eagles right now. A messy team on multiple levels but beating the seattle seahawks a team that people consider to be one of the favorites in the nfc to make it to the nfc championship. Game is a momentous victory in one that you need at the very end of the year to help you establish and continue to ride momentum against a stretch of tough opponents and hopefully and eventually win the nfc east. This victory is a true testament to the quality of coaches that the giants have brought in talking very specifically about joe judge in patrick. Graham and some of the various assistance at various position groups. That are currently flourishing. And what this tells me is one. This provides optimism after this year. But it proves you do not need a top five roster to beat good teams in the nfl. If you are well coached you can go out and beat a majority of quality teams in this leak and what i get out of this. Is that the giants right now. I think we can all agree folks. This giants roster is bottom ten in the nfl in terms of talent. It's a lot older guys. It's a lot of young is still figuring their stuff out if you think that. They're not i think he needs to take a better look at this roster and that's not me try to knock this roster down these are guys that are still developing and figuring their stuff out there a couple years away but imagine how good this team could possibly become once. They upgrade their talent at every single position or at least at most other positions and these young guys continue to develop in two to three years. We could possibly have not only a good giants team but a very dominant one and maybe only finish the year six and ten or you finish the year at seven and nine eight eight going into the future. What we see right now is promising for what could be to come. Yeah absolutely you know. Like you said it's a bottom ten roster I don't think anyone can realistically argue with that. This team really doesn't have a whole lot in the way of impact players difference makers on either side of the ball yet. James bradberry is playing great Leonard williams is having probably his best statistical year of his career. But yeah even with as many saxes of the got against the seahawks so many of them are really just a function of their coverage. And how well patrick. Graham has the giants secondary. playing offense. Winkelmann has been great. The last four games. Evan ingram can make a a game changing play on just about any pass play but he is also somewhat inconsistent which is also a little bit function of the giants quarterback play. Which is the thing we might get to talk about a little bit later on but this team is really well coached. The defense in particular is really really. Well schemed and they are playing a very sophisticated brand of defense. Which is impressive. Considering how much of it was just thrown together. How many of these players are young guys rookie. Second year players or guys who were depth players coming into this stretch and the fact that patrick graham has been playing such as sophisticated brandon defense which is a which is something we will definitely be getting into a little bit but executing it so well and well enough to shut down for the most part one of the very best offenses in the nfl. Assuming giants can keep patrick graham around for a little bit. That bodes very well for the future now looking ahead looking down the road. The giants are going to have to be very very smart and very careful about building their roster up over the next year or so. Because as you say. They've got some older guys. They've got some three agents. They have to make some decisions in free agency. And they're going to be drafting assuming they make the playoffs at the bottom of rounds. So they're going to have to be very good with their scouting and they're going to have to be very careful about where they decide to spend their money. Especially with the salary cap shrinking. But that's something we can take a closer look at further down the road for now. Let's just talk about this game. Getting into another offense of point from this performance. I would like to address what colt mccoy's play quality means for this giants team and again talking about what what this game proves to us for for me. What i get out of this. Is that cole. Mccoy didn't really do anything special. Threw an interception. Didn't throw for a whole lot of yards overall. I'd say he. He struggled at times but he made throws and short completed short passes when the giants needed him to just to move the ball beyond the sticks. His impact was quite minimal despite being the starting quarterback in this football game but the way that he played that overall quality of play is proof that you don't necessarily need your quarterback to throw for four hundred yards or three hundred and fifty yards to win a football game. If you have a defense that is dominating and you run the ball effectively. And i know a lot of analytics people are gonna hate to hear that a lot of analytics people think that running the football is a is a non existent thing. That shouldn't even be happening. You should be throwing the ball on every single down. The reality of it is if you run the ball. Well it sets up the rest of your offense and if you're offensive line is blocking effectively and you have the right. Cohesive group out there it can make up for really bad quarterback play which is what we got from colt mccoy what this now means for daniel jones if we can get for the remainder of the year and if daniel jones is available to play against arizona which it already sounds that. There's a chance that it might happen. No guarantee they're based on currently what we know on monday but for what we want for the remainder of the from daniel jones is to just stay well. Protected.

"That's wgn dot edu slash partnerships. Chris this is a really odd defense to evaluate. We're going to get to some of the statistics that come into play here. But i want to bring up the two main players of note the first one the former jets strong safety jamal adams who many people know as a hard hitting do it all safety and also a very effective player. Sorry a very effective blitzer. Rather the one thing. I think we should start this discussion with is that the giants need to know where he is at all times otherwise they could get hurt badly. Yeah absolutely adams. He is not a great cover safety. He's really more of a box safety. He can deal with running back end. Most tight ends over the middle. But he's not an earl thomas type safety who can cover huge swath field who can run with slot receivers run with yet more athletic tight ends but he does pretty much everything else. Well he comes downhill like he's fired out of a cannon. He is a great bullets or right now he leads the seahawks in sacks despite missing a few games with a shoulder injury and he is great at disguising his intentions as well so he is a player the giants absolutely have to keep track of they have to know where he is every single play and you know if the seahawks take this year doesn't prove that to them. All they need to do is go back and watch the tape of their game against the jets last year and watch jamal adams blow up. Saquon barkley mug daniel jones for the strip sack touchdown combo. Yeah we have a lot of familiarity with jamal adams and the torment that he provided last year against the jets a game that i think we all expected the giants to win easily and a big reason why they were able to win. That game was because of the way that jamal adams played. He is a guy that can take over a game despite everybody else around him. Not being very good which is somewhat of the case for majority of this seahawks defense. The other guy playing around him in within is bobby wagner. They're starting inside. Linebacker is another player. That is super hard hitting is. The focal point of this defense has been a strong veteran presence for multiple years. Now he will knock you senseless. He is that type of a linebacker. He he is an aggressive tackler and he is somebody that i think winkelmann needs to be paying attention to when he creeps his way through whatever slim rushing lane. He has in front of him he needs to be paying attention to whereas bobby wagner and when is he gonna hit me yeah absolutely wagner is still one of the best inside linebackers in the league he is he is maybe not super athletic but he is still athletic he is very very smart he is good at working his way through the trash and like you said he is very hard hitter he engage a right jarran reed Guys form a surprisingly good run defense. The the seahawks do not give up much on the ground and giants are going to have to be aware of all of these guys. They're gonna have to be on their game. Whoever has to block them if wing allman if it's his job to make one of them miss he's going to have to make sure he's got a good angle nowhere. Those guys are end. just prepare to get hit. Because that's what's going to happen right. You got to be prepared for either atoms or wagner to come in like a battering ram to knock the hell out of you. Whenever you're catching a football or rushing the ball for that matter speaking on the strengths. Bobby wagner and jamal adams both come into play for the strong point of this. The seahawks defense. Now you hear a lot with this defense how it's not good. It actually statistically overall in total yards. Allowed i believe is the worst in the nfl which is not a good metric for a team. That's supposed to be one of the better teams in the nfc. But somehow they are the third actual. We know the reason why we're going to explain. It somehow is not the right word. They have the third best rush defense in the nfl in terms of yards allowed. They've allowed eighty nine point three yards per game. That is a number that the giants offense needs to pay attention to because a lot of the success has come from an effective running game the past few weeks. It makes sense to an extent. Chris why they have a good run defense and why they're bad at other things is because they have really good. Interior defensive linemen Puna ford and doron read. And then also bobby wagner and jamal adams. Those guys are the big reason why they've done so well against the run yet they are able to hold up offensive linemen. Those second level players come down downhill hard. They fill gaps and they make tackles. They are very secure tacklers. Yeah we saw the last couple of weeks. The giants have been able to pick up yards after contact because you know washington philly cincinnati. Those teams are not great at tackling. The seahawks are that has been something. They have stressed for years now and they do have a very good very hard hitting defense. That tackles well. They finish their tackles. Also they're prolific offense. They're averaging thirty one points a game that also plays a role teams kind of have to abandon them. Run against them so that does play a bit of a role in their points per game. They're rushing yards per game allowed but really the biggest reason. Is that defensive interior. Those guys come down hill. How hard they are to move off the ball and how well they tackle. Yeah the tackling is the big thing here. You have two very very good players that are strong. Cleanup players particularly bobby wagner and then again jamal adams that is why they've been so good against the run but conversely as we said it makes a lot of sense why they're so bad against the past why they have one of the worst statistical defenses in the. Nfl is because they are last in passing yards allowed per game. They are so bad. Defending the pass that they're currently allowing thirty more yards per game than the second worst team which is of course of all teams. The atlanta falcons. That number is three hundred and twenty eight point three yards per game. That is a horrendous statistic in a big reason why is they lack talent corner. They lacked talented other defensive back positions and then additionally there defensive ends are just straight up not good. Yeah four pretty much. The first half of the season the seahawks at best pass rusher was monitoring more who he is currently suspended for. Phd's the giants giants fans kinda know. What kind of player democracy more is. But they've drafted of the defensive end alton robinson. He hasn't played a whole lot. They are able to generate sacks with their pass rush. But a lot of that is because of how good of a blitzer. Jamal adams is know their past defense. They've dealt with injuries shaquille griffin as dealt with an injury. Jamal adams dealt with an injury. So they've been forced to reach into their depth chart with guys who are just not starters so if you get go into your depth chart in the secondary and then you're defensive front isn't getting consistent pressure that is that is just a recipe to give up yards especially when you're forcing other teams to throw to try to keep up with you..

"Can even keep this game clothes and go out there and at least try to match what Seattle's doing I think that has to be huge step in the right direction I mean never want to take a moral victory out of. Something if you can go out there and play the Seattle seahawks right now again, Russell Wilson's plain out his damn mind you go out there and even keep this game close and show that you know okay. We can hang with some of the NFL's elite I mean that's a huge step for a young football team who's only going to get better over the next few years. So a loss wouldn't be the end all but if this team wins this game I mean I might be streaking around of Pennsylvania Butt naked. and. I don't think nobody would blame you and yet. We're kind of wrapping it up here but but this is kind of the progress you to see through the season. Obviously, I'd say, trust the guys and obviously, but dolphins might just play it early in the year as guys comfortable being on the field, there was no preseason. So I think we're GONNA learn a lot over the next couple of weeks whether this is a win or a loss what do they do on those fourth in? One, what do they do on those third and six to set up the fourth and ones you know what am I doing in the rents? Where's the creativity come in because there hasn't been much of that so far. But obviously, we saw it at the end of last season. The dolphins can be a very creative team and that might just be something where it takes a couple of weeks you want to put together some film of. Hey, maybe they every one were of Ella offense and all of a sudden you start to add these wrinkles as the season goes on and you know I still I don't know how Sustainable Russell Wilson may be. Yes. He's one of the best quarterbacks in the League and I'm not GonNa try to debate that but I don't think he's GonNa Profile Dunn's every week wilderness. Be One of those weeks I'm not sure but you know I'm crossing my fingers Ryan floors he was brought into the bay defensive guy this could be his chance to really show that hey, you know it. Isn't just the Patriots turning into the Dolphin way too. But that kind of wraps up what we had to say about this game, it's exciting. It's we've had ten days off the dolphins said subtype to get healthy and prepare for the scape and Josh I. Think it's going to be close whether it's high scoring. I think the dolphins are going to have a shot to win this game as both mentioned. Let us know what you guys think. Shula's messages on twitter I. Am can be found at J. "When you have four guys that you know you're going deep that type of thing but for the dolphins I think they need the truly need all these guys healthy to be able to really accomplish what they want in their game plan and Josh I. Mentioned About Moving Bobby McCain. Put them in a receiver, but but we saw a strong performance from him on Thursday night against. Jaguars, as the free safety is some passes, what did you see on the film that that really was working so for? And Yeah. I think. You make a great point about no. I, mean, we saw that buffalo game. He just had no answer for Stefan digs, but he did make some decent plays last week bounce back that huge stop on third down. So I like where your head is with no eight monogamy but you're absolutely right Bobby McCain is a guy that you know myself. Pretty much. All of fans. There are a little skeptical of him at safety looked out a position a lot. You know early in the season but he just showed up everywhere Jacksonville made that in that Calvin Pass it kind of fluttered in the air where he absolutely. disembodied Chris Thompson I know we all saw that hit that ball was almost completed McCain come over and make that place. So I mean this guy was all over the field and we continue to hear despite what we say despite you know how hesitant we were. You know we all like Winfield and we all like Ashton Davison Drafi. All had the guys that we won that safety. We keep hearing these coaching staff. They preach leadership. You know how is communication is pre snap getting players lined up I think we'll bobby McCain does on the field is a lot more than what we see but I, mean, this guy was all over the place may plays and coverage came up and helped in the run game. This is what you want to see how that Bobby McCain. It was a step in the right direction in my opinion and that's all you can really ask for I. Know You have written here? Clayton. I'll let you say his name, but he's he's a forego cleaned Jillian. Don't die you better than I. I think even listen to it on the website they have like how you can pronounce names. I. Think. I. Even know how to say it but he was finally able to practice. He might be out there. He's a special teams guy I made the joke. You know if you play mad and you go in there and auto reorder that depth chart the first that they do is they put him at free safety over Bobby McCain. So you know is that some type of I don't know the dolphins have a bunch of versatile defensive backs that starts with Bobby McCain I know that he made that big contract in the nickel a lot of. Fans including myself would rather see him go down there and make some place in the slot because that is truly you know that's what the NFL Games starting to evolve into that shutdown corner at nickel like that changes everything dolphins hoped to have that no monogamy. They hope they have I mackenzie free safety I just want to see him continue to get better each and every weekend we saw that for once you know it really jumped out on the tape against Jacksonville. Yeah and with the to I mean I can't believe I'm sitting here saying I can say eggnog any better than I can say Clayton's last name but I mean here we are. Speaking of the. Seattle seahawks injury report my God is this thing large. I mean they do have guys like poon afford on their twice. So I mean it's a little bigger than it has to be but I'm just gonNa run through these Chris Carson started running back limited with the knee injury. Carlos high backup running back limited with shoulder injury Carlos had the sprains the and I. Don't I don't think he's probably. Man. I'd say he he probably isn't gonNA play. That could just be looking at that and dolphin shades. But I think the Seattle Seahawks, they have the dolphins this week Vikings at home on Sunday night football next week. By Week. So I wonder how safe they're going to be especially with Russell Westbrook playing as well as he is leading the league in touchdowns Shaqueal Gift Griffin excuse me starting quarterback cornerback limited with shoulder injury dwayne Brown starting tackle limited with shoulder Jamal Adams Groin not that one is absolutely huge because. For how much the Seattle seahawks defensive. A. Lot of the tensor playing for behind Jamal Adams really gives a defense perspective because he can still make that play with needed that can really for the field despite you know you might give up a couple of ten yard plays a couple twenty I play. But when it gets into the red zone Jamal Adams going to be the guy that's always near the ball helping helping the Defense Force. Posing teams kick field goals. Quinton. Dunbar. Starting cornerback not. Josh that these things are exactly why I want to tell you the Miami Dolphins have a shot. On a given week where everybody's healthy I'd be a little more concerned even if it was Byron Jones and Chris Carson both healthy because Carson animal on the ground I don't think the dolphins. Run stopping game is really where it has to be just yet but I mean just with all this going on, I think the dolphins have a little bit shot little bit of a shot and we'll get into that right after our first break where we provide three keys to the scam. "Work out shooting the ball. I said at the beginning of the year I thought he could have MVP type of season if he were to shoot the ball, he obviously wasn't able to do that. you know Brown now is changing him to more. More the roller position, which I think is GonNa be suitable for his game and actually think the fact that he took a couple of shots some the earlier preseason game early games here before we kick the season off and here's the thing I do like about the fact that when they're no fans involved. You don't allow any outside distractions to get to your right essentially what you're watching what we are going to be watching as the audience and fans is a high level pickup game, so what I've noticed is. Is when players are playing in pickup games, even though this is going to be NBA playoffs, guys don't worry about bands reactions booze things of that sort. They play a little bit of a looser game because there's not as many distractions around I'm hoping that it been Simmons. Can a lease take shots? Take shots then that makes a deep respect him, or you can kick out to guys like Tobias. Harris or shake one if he can be that player Joel Embiid is able to get back and play at the. The roller position I think that's a different dynamic for this team. And I think there are a team that's going to be a dark horse to really cause a lot of disruption in eastern conference. They're the most interesting team by far because you could see them. Getting knocked out immediately, and you could see that making a very deep runs so big perk. Let's talk about the big I, and that's embiid was ruled out of yesterday scrimmage with calf tightness. That's another injury embiid. What is your level of concern? was always liberal, concerned green when a concert injuries which oil Joel embiid. You gotTA listen this. This is a gotTa has a history of having entries. That set out his whole rookie year because of injury, a guy that had in the contract you know negotiated around his injuries so when I look at Joe and be as a big Phil and being awful four months. I'm concerned about this I. Don't know if it's if it's a serious matter. But. You gotta be concerned for Big Fella especially when you talk about a cab muscle because you gotta take very seriously because they could go from day to day to a weekly thing in no way possible. Philadelphia Seventy sixers are gonNA reach their ceiling, which is the second round? What Joel Embiid? They're not going no hot. They're not going anywhere past the second round anyway, but in order food on the retail sale and they're going to need a healthy Joel. embiid one wonders if this doesn't go well for them. Do they decide to move on from the NBA Simmons? Pairing, or do they run it back because this is such unusual circumstances I didn't WanNa. Get A. A quick thought from you guys on this top ten list, meanwhile, because on ESPN DOT COM. Some of our NBA experts ranked the players in the bubble, and these were the top ten all right, so it's the Brahmin. It's Janas. Then it's why you look at the rest of the top ten. It's a lot of the usual suspects, but there was one name that is blatantly missing J. Will. What is the name that is blatantly missing from this list? I got I got two names Greenie I. Some of those experts he said, as you Lou to wasn't me I. It wasn't Perkins. Daimler. You don't have Russell Westbrook on that list I. Have No idea. Dame is one of the best in the League and if you watch. Russell played this year. Grant at the beginning of the year it was a little bit of a rocky start with him, implementing his dial into the system, but that second part before this whole thing broke down, he was destroying people. He was reminding people every single day. This is why I'm an MVP type of player because I can get triple doubles consistently and I can. How many by attacking you getting to the rim to the fact that dame and Russ worn. Worn on that list that that's absurd to me the Russ piece of it. I Agree Damian Lillard. Is Talk a little bit about how much he does and doesn't want to play I. Sorta, get people having some skepticism with that but Russell, Westbrook and James. Harden are on pace to be the highest scoring tandem in the NBA. Since the merger, which was the late seventies big perk. How is Russell? Westbrook, not one of the ten best players. I don't know grainy in his is disturbing. Listen although Russell Westbrook averaged triple doubles for three straight years. We'll Oklahoma City to meet. He was planning to best basketball of his career. He's shooting a career high of forty seven percent. He's averaged twenty seven points, eight rebounds and seven assists, and he's been doing a great job. He was leading the league in points in the paint are changed his name to Russell Westbrook O.`Neil but green real. Quick, tell you. You. Who would what I had a problem with list? Disrespect took a while Linda Jordan. He should be number two on list behind Lebron James. Let's not disrespect him. Put Him in number. Three should be a head of Yannis. He beat you on his just last year. Cook Hawaii number two and then have Russell Westbrook somewhere and I'm okay with that. Forget that I gotTA keep fighting every day to prove my love for Pascal Siaka I'm tired of. Of fighting for him. I love him, but nobody wanted to give him his just do. Because should be number. Two and Russell Westbrook be in their top team, and you will forever have the right to fight for on this show. You were the first one who said it. Last April will before he made one of the great runs in playoff history that he was the closest thing we had.
