"Things aren't going to look great. They didn't go and get a big malar upfront at the trade deadline, which is kind of the key to play this style of defense. So look for that in the off season for the Chargers to improve. They're going to find a run stuffer that can take on two blocks in the middle of their defense. Linville Joseph at this age can not do that. The defense doesn't have a ton of talent in the offense isn't operating optimally right now. A week from today we'll be able to preview one of arguably the biggest Monday Night Football games we'll see this season so I don't want to spend a ton of time on it now. But you're looking at the Buffalo Bills. A look ahead favorite FanDuel sports book minus four. This number trending closer into that soft three range, despite the bill's dominating the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving, but New England continuing to move in the right direction in terms of their overall power profile. Their power numbers continue to shoot up. Let's see what and this is really a tough game to gauge because you think the Patriots defense looks great on paper. They haven't played anybody. Buffalo's defense looks great on paper. First time they step up in class, they look miserable, and I get it Edmunds, the leader in the middle of the defense was out. Star was out in the middle of the defense as well. You're also now down tri davious white. So this is an interesting one. I think I probably not going to have a position on the side here. Could have something else on this game? Down on Monday. Potential weather in the forecast, let's see what that looks like. But I know we'll deep dive this game a little bit later in the week. For sure. I mean, this will be a Monday night game that gets our undivided attention, unlike some of the duds that we've been fed so far this season. So I don't want to go too far into it now. Just worth highlighting for a lot of our listeners there. NBA NHL action, you name it FanDuel's got it. FanDuel dot com backslash bet the board. And paying the final week of NFL final week. Final game of NFL week 12 takes us to the nation's capital where it's Seattle, a one point made me quite excited. Seattle a one point favorite at FanDuel sportsbook. This total has been on the climb ticking up out to 47 and a half. When you look at Seattle, this is a team in its last 18 games. It's been dominated by defense. They're 15 two in one to the under. Meanwhile, on the other side, the Washington football team, they're well known for a lot of things, futility on Monday night would be one of those things as well. They last one on Monday night back in 2012. And if I trust some of the numbers that were portrayed in an article, 5 and 23 straight up on Monday Night Football since 2000. When you look at Seattle, has the market moved far enough given their offensive struggles, knowing that Russell Wilson hasn't looked quite the same quarterback since returning for his finger injury. I think this is one of the trickier handicaps that we've had this season. Certainly in prime time. And I got a note earlier in the week that Seattle was going to be the side. And then you watch the market go from Seattle minus two and a half to plus one and I was left kind of scratching my head. Listen, it's clear that Russell Wilson is a 100%. This was an 8 week injury. His doctor said it was the worst finger. They've done surgery on and Russ was back in four weeks. Seattle's offense was struggling before Russ ever went down. So there wasn't a chance in hell. Him coming back at less than a 100% after a month off was just going to be like, poof. Seattle's offense is great again. It just wasn't going to happen. There's also some internal issues. DK Metcalf is not happy. Pete Carroll's storming out of postgame press conferences after only a single question gets asked. And if you're a Seahawks fan the end is near it, the end is near because yeah, you are almost certainly going to be living in a world where another quarterback is under center next season. Because where there's smoke, there's fire and rust swans out as all the information I've been given. And it's kind of leave it there. Okay. Now, this game does have the potential to be like, when you were a kid, playing with your Friends, you acted much differently when it was just you and your friends, then when your parents were around, so this is a nationally televised game. So I would expect to see kind of be on their best behavior here, so to speak. I also think there is some interesting matchups. Like getting away from the information getting away from some of the narrative stuff, a couple of things stood out as positives for Seattle's offense. There should be positive regression on the way for late downs. Because the Seahawks are shockingly above average in first down efficiency. 13th to be exact. They're elite with second down efficiency. Third. But that variance down. Third, third down, fourth down. Seattle is bottom 5 in the league in efficiency. It's one thing to be like bad on third downs when you're staring at third and a mile. But when you're efficient on early downs in your quarterback as Russell Wilson, it's quite surprising. And so we may see that positive regression start to shift tonight for Seattle because Washington's defense, dead last the NFL and third and fourth down efficiency. You're also looking at a large schedule dip here. Seattle's face the second toughest schedule of defense is according to our metrics, I believe DVO a has them as the fourth toughest. You have a top ten schedule of passing defenses faced for Seattle. And now you get Washington. 31st, the NFL and defensive efficiency. 30th and defensive pass efficiency. Chase young and montez sweat both starting past rushers are out. Washington this season hasn't really gotten natural pressure and certainly not the natural pressure you would have hoped for for first round picks along the D line. Jack Del Rio has sent blitz at the third highest rate in the league. The best part of Russell Wilson's game this season has been against the blitz. One 26 passer rating this season hasn't made a single turnover worthy throw against the blitz. 81% adjusted accuracy 8.2 yards in attempt. So is down as Russell Wilson's play has been still fantastic against the blitz. The big matchup is on the inside of this line..

"Be in terms of his peak? What is his elite? Stature. And it's like he doesn't have the greatest arm strength. He's undersized and he gets beat up. But if you're talking about a guy getting it out on time and quickly and accurately, there's probably few better quarterbacks to run that type of system. Because he can do that. You just have to limit the mistakes. And that's the biggest thing. You had the Atlanta game where just two head scratching turnovers and they were both in the green zones. And so that game probably goes a little bit differently. Those are the question marks with two. Stop turning the ball over. We do know the upside is somewhat limited due to the arm strength. But he's really fantastic if you look at his accuracy numbers this year. Yeah, I mean, a dolphins team that was left for dead sitting at one in 7. Now suddenly given the muddled mess that is the AFC. Maybe can play a role in terms of making the playoff picture as one of the top 7 teams in that particular conference. Speaking of the AFC though pain, we saw a team that I think a lot of us left for dead on Thursday night look like a Phoenix rising from the ashes that, of course, was the Las Vegas Raiders. 500 plus yards of offense, 6.6 yards per play. They ran the ball effectively 35 times for a 143 yards and Derek Carr, maybe more importantly, took care of the football. I know the headlines in that game marred by gratuitous penalty flags for a lack of a better term, I think Anthony Brown and was the on the receiving end of 37 pass interference calls. But the Raiders go on the road and knock off Dallas when he outright is a 7 and a half point underdog. Yeah, I mean, take nothing away from the Raiders. You went on the road as a 7 and a half point dog you're doing something right, especially when your opponent has a special teams touchdown. And overcoming that was huge. This was a much needed confidence boost. It felt like everything off the field was finally catching up with the Raiders on the field. And they did a great job. They stayed alive in the AFC west race. Obviously, things become easier when CD lamb and Amari Cooper and Lawrence and Gregory are all out and Dallas has a 166 penalty yards. You hit that perfectly. It was a flag fest. I looked this morning. Those 28 penalties turned into more than 14 expected points at it. So talk about influencing a game. It just brutal. But the Raiders got the looks defensively that they were familiar with. We knew Dan Quinn and Gus Bradley are two guys that are great friends, coach together in Seattle. They both play lots of cover three and cover one man. So both offenses were accustomed to seeing the looks the defense was giving them. And so it wasn't an overly difficult task despite some of those weapons being out for both both offense is really. And suddenly the Raiders now very much a thing in the AFC west. We'll see how they perform going forward as a couple of teams will knock each other around this coming weekend. It highlighted by the Sunday football game between the Denver Broncos who got a victory. And of course, the Kansas City Chiefs. But speaking of Denver paint, didn't have a chance to watch, kind of follow the game on my phone listen to some of the local broadcasts there. Was it more Denver being good in the defense finally looking engaged or do we start to blame this charger's offense that continues to show flashes of brilliance followed up by 60 minutes of pure unadulterated garbage? I think this is what the Chargers offense is. Anyone that's listened to this podcast knows our feelings on the offense. It's not changed. And I think you have to give Denver some credit out of the buy. Vic Fangio came up with some great things to hinder a young quarterback. This is not the first time he's done that. And you got Patrick's retain who's looking like a premium outside cornerback. You got Bradley Chubb back into the fold so the defense got healthier, and you had two weeks to prepare for an offense that has deficiencies in the Chargers. And we've said this time and time again. They do not do the things to exploit defenses. They do not put Justin Herbert in situations to be the best quarterback he can be. And it's fine when you're going up against Pittsburgh on a Sunday Night and they don't have the best pass rusher and TJ watt and they're down multiple guys in the secondary. It's a different look when you have Vic Fangio with two weeks and solid players on the defense side of the ball. So that's really where the game was won. Teddy Bridgewater wasn't great, exited the game for a little bit. There was that swing in momentum where you thought the Chargers may actually steal the game, right? Teddy goes down, you're up 14, nothing lock comes back into the game you haven't plus territory. You can go up three scores before the break and lock throughs a pick. And then the Chargers get the momentum score. And it's 14 7 at the break and you're like, a crap here we go. It's going to be drew lock. But teddy Bridgewater came back in. The defense did a great job there on the field a ton in the third quarter. Then you got some big interceptions from Patrick's retained one in the end zone and then one that was a pick 6. And that's ultimately what decided this game. Denver's offense did enough early. The defense was fantastic throughout. It's what it takes sometimes. You need that collective effort and suddenly the Broncos have won three out of their last four. And again, another team that's put themselves in the thick of things is it pertains to getting into the wild card picture in the AFC, but you mentioned the Steelers. And wanted to see if this was a good transitional point if we want to give credit to the Cincinnati Bengals for their performance or if we start to head into the bad talking about the Steelers absolutely embarrassed by a divisional foe. They were out of that game almost as soon as it kicked off. Yeah, that was a box to wire beat down. Both sides of the ball were fantastic. Cincinnati came out one to establish the run. Joe Mixon showed real well, despite facing a loaded box on 32% of his carries, Mixon had the 6th best rushing yards per attempt over expectation. Thought Joe burrow was very efficient. Did have the one overthrow that got picked off. But I think the positive there as you showed that is a 100% healthy on that rushing touchdown. He did well all day, right through with anticipation, that touched down past the Higgins was thrown before Higgins was even remotely open. So Joe burrow is looking very good, completion percentage 16% above expectation. The Bengals defense also set the tone in the first half. You had two early three and outs when the Steelers didn't did get into the green zone held to three. And then you cap off the half with the pick 6. This is interesting to me and something that I'm going to kind of keep my eyes on here. But this is the second time Cincinnati's face Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's an offense that just is what it is. It can't really change. It doesn't have the parts to change things. It just felt like Cincinnati knew what was coming. Before the ball was ever snapped. Bengals have had to steal his number. First time they swept the season series since 2009, they even had a good performance against them last year with a healthy Jill burro. So we know that the Steelers are a team trending in the wrong direction. You begin to wonder.

"Your offensive line is a little bit more intact. I believe McCoy. And Armstead returned tonight. So you do get those reinforcements on the offensive line or maybe you just say, hey, we have those reinforcements. Now we can run the ball a little bit more. And that's really what New Orleans has been 49% run in the first half of games. That conservative nature is why the saints are 30th. An explosive play offense. So basically from the saint's direction, you have a slow pace team that's running the ball a lot, not hitting explosives over the top. That is your first recipe for an under. Seattle is middle of the pack in first half pace, but if they played much slower in the last few weeks, and they've played a lot slower with Geno under center last week. And then when Seattle found success in the second half against Pittsburgh, it was pretty much predicated on their ground game. So my feeling is just based upon Pete Carroll. He's going to see that success of running in the second half. That's why we need to start this game. And that's really not the recipe against a saint's defense. It's been very stout against the run. The corner situation I think for New Orleans is much improved, you're getting Lattimore playing back to his old level. You made the trade for Roby to solidify that unit. And if by chance, Seattle is able to drive the ball. You have a saint's defense that has allowed the lowest red zone touchdown rate in the entire league. And then you also have two ridiculous punters in this game that can completely punter talk. This is the first time all season. We've got punter talk. I love where we're going with this. You know, if you get that three and out after Seattle decided to run the ball in first down second down and third down and third and one and you're punting from your own 28. You have Michael Dixon who can boom the ball. And you have a New Orleans punter. And Blake Gilligan, who is one of the best punters in the league already. And to top it all off, it looks like there is some weather in the forecast. So that's going to by nature, I think have two teams that have played very conservatively. Do so even more here. And that's why we went under 21 and a half in this game. And it's why this game is now, again, like 20.2. I don't know where it's going to go from here. I like this game and this will be an interesting kind of glimpse into what we do Todd and why if you're a sports better that's starting out and you kind of get down on yourself about making mistakes like realize that professional betters do as well. Sunday Night football. Oh God. So much is said on this podcast. I really liked the over. In fact, over 44 was going to be one of the investments I made. And then you sit here and you look at the weather come in and it's supposed to be one of the worst weather games that we've had all season. You talk to some of the groups that you exchange information with and some of the other sharp providers. And you're like, I can't go over. And I know where this market's heading. And it had it exactly the direction. We all knew it would head. And certainly it's the first half under that we played Todd, you and I in the forty-niners game last night gets there if debo Samuel doesn't fumble with two and a half minutes to go in there. Just hanging out of the ball and go down short of the sticks, Devo. My God. It's still a winner, but the point is you had all of that weather. And it was a game that you actually liked over based on some of the matches. And it's still goes over with all of that weather. So that was one of the frustrating losses. But the point is, there is weather in this game, but this isn't just a weather play. There's fundamentally things here within the matchup that scream under as well. And that would be the difference between Monday Night Football and Sunday football. The worst part about that game, we were texting, of course, midway through the second quarter, and I had to ask you because I hadn't trusted my eyes after the week and I'd had at the window. Going is this weather getting worse or is it just me? The players you can barely see through it, you're seeing three and out. So I decide in all of my infinite glory. It's a great idea to compound a bet that you know, I thought it was a loser in the first half, ultimately, we're going to have a chance of or fumble. I go under 47 and a half live, and think, man, we're going to have a chance not only to catch the first half, I'm going to have a great number going to the second half. Do have a great number when the second half total opens 20, didn't watch the final 5 to 6 minutes of it, as I was at the golden nait hockey game instead, check my phone late and find out on a third and ten from the 28 yard line, Michael Pittman has another jump ball, conversion, game falls 48 under 47 and a half live loses. So that was my betting weekend in a microcosm. Interesting. I had no idea you bet the live under. I'm like a detective when you and I speak via text sometimes. I start to infer that gather based upon the questions you're asking me, what you're actually doing. And so when you ask me that question, I said to myself, there's no doubt he's better than the live under here. Even though he's not telling me he's back. Much smaller here. Much smaller positions in the way that I buried myself over the course of the weekend. I didn't want to try and bring anybody else down with me. So how to try and check poked around. Saw some shops that I respect at 45 and a half found a rogue 47 and a half out here in the desert. And figured, you know what? We'll dabble a little bit. You know what? It didn't quite work out for me, and either way, like we joke about it. You caught a lifeline too, by the way. I don't know if you knew this or not, but prior to the touchdown there on the third and ten jump all the Pittman Xavier Rhodes intercepted upon and returned it for a touchdown. And then they reviewed it and was like, oh my God, it's heel, just slightly went out. So that was like, I probably didn't deserve it then. A wide range of emotions had you not been watching or at a hockey game rather than watching the game because you had the the interception touchdown with the EU probably saying F me. And then you got the lifeline, and it's third and ten and all you have to do is get off the field. And then the jump ball happens. Sometimes you have to laugh at your own misfortune in this particular business just to try and keep your sanity, but either way, we'll get the first half under tonight. We'll use that as a jumping off point for our listeners as well. And continue to move this train on down the tracks with more college football. And of course, a marquee game Thursday night between the packers and Cardinals. If you haven't already done so, FanDuel dot com backslash bet the board. "And so I know the dolphins are certainly trying to use tua as part of the package so they don't have to give up other picks. So I don't know what the deal will look like if it's two teams, if it's three teams, if it's the dolphins or if suddenly, Carolina just goes bananas and ups their package. But I don't think two has done in this league. He's just got to stay healthy. He's got to be available. And he's got to work on a couple of things that interception in the second half was about as bad as it gets. I mean, completely changed the complex of that game, the complexion of that game. And you had saving Howard make a ridiculous interception in a one score game and you're thinking, oh, dolphins are lined up here and instead the interception by tool was so bad that it becomes this potential 14 point swing late in the game. And without those two interceptions, the dolphins win that game outright. And so you can look at the numbers and be like, whoo, tool is also my four touchdown passes, completion percentage was fantastic on the season two has got a completion percentage 2% above expectation. It's just some of the head scratching interceptions that he's throwing right now. And we started to see that a little bit at Alabama from time to time. Yeah, that was the one thing when he couldn't have the huge talent mismatches on the outside, whether he was throwing receivers open or some questionable decision making. We'll see if he can get that corrected. You know whether it's as a starting quarterback in Miami or should he land somewhere else either before the trade deadline or shortly thereafter. When we look at some of the ongoing adjustments throughout the marketplace pain, I think this one obviously makes a ton of sense. The jets, bangles gained the bangles at FanDuel sportsbook, where a four and a half point favorite for their week 8 trip to MetLife stadium to take on the jets very disparate results for the two teams. And the bangles have ballooned out to an 8 and a half point chalk. Actually out to ten as we are recording this right now. Good call. You're looking right now. You mentioned the wildly contrasting results. And that's part of this. You know, you have a Bengals team go out and win by three plus scores on the road as a touchdown dog. The jets off a bike at 50 hung on them as a 7 point dog. And then you do sprinkle in a little bit of the potential downgrade from Zach Wilson to Mike white, and this is how you get to ten. Now, the line is certainly inflated. And you won't have some of the focus from the Bengals. I wouldn't envision. But this will come down to explosives. Jets as I alluded to gave up 17 last week, they're one of the worst explosive past defenses in the league. And the bangles offense that was just 19th and efficiency coming into last week had pretty much survived on the explosive pass. So if somehow you can figure out how to negate some of the big plays from Cincinnati, it will be difficult to cover an inflated spread of ten on the road. That's just a little interesting. I'm not sure where we go from here. In terms of this line, does it make another move if Zach Wilson is announced out? Mike whites the backup quarterback and obviously Zach Wilson is no great shakes right now. It's still about a one one and a half point adjustment downwards. Yeah, it might be a bigger indictment of where Mike white is and the jets quarterback situation overall. They don't have a savvy veteran to sit and fill in. You the western Kentucky. Yeah, I want to say South Florida first and then western Kentucky. I can't even remember his exact progression. But yeah, he did finish up his career at western Kentucky. You are correct. In that regard, Dallas in Philadelphia, a dowson Philadelphia excuse me, Philadelphia and Detroit, the eagles were a four point favorite on the look ahead. We talked a little bit about some of their defensive struggles for their trip out here against Vegas, Detroit goes out. There treats the game like the Super Bowl and to their credit, played extremely well in the grand scheme of things, all sorts of trick plays, a onside kick, fake punts, you name it to try and do everything they could to get exactly measure of revenge for Jared Goff. But that number goes from Philadelphia minus four on the road to Philadelphia now a three point road favorite. Again, you have contrasting results. And really what's bizarre to me is we had questions about the eagles coaching staff coming into the season. Sri ani was like their 8th choice and management wanted guys that they could kind of treat as chess pieces as opposed to a coach that was willing to do things on his own and take a stand and have a little bit more control of the team. What we're seeing right now is the eagles not really showing an ability to adapt. You know, I watched yesterday's game and somehow the defense was not able to stop the run. It kind of been a problem early on in the season. But you had a secondary also that had done well preventing explosives. Put all of a sudden this week, especially, it was nothing but the short passing game. And there was again no in game adjustment. We're just going to let Derek car throw a hundred run free for four yards of pop 6 yards, bob 7 yards, pop. We're gonna let Henry rugs catch balls for 8 yards popped 9 years apart. There was just no adjustments made at all on either side of the ball. It was really wild. And so you kind of bring that forward to this week against Detroit and Detroit is a short passing game. You can't allow them to paper cut you to death like the Raiders did. The eagles offense is certainly worse than it appears on the surface, I think, especially if you're kind of just looking at the middle two quarters from what I have seen and I haven't done the necessary deep dive into this. My eyes told me something and then I did a very cursory kind of exploring into this theory that I have. But basically, you have two types of offenses for the eagles. It's the script in the ketchup offense in the first and fourth quarter. And then you have the eagle's actual offense. And the second and third quarter after the script wears off and before the game is out of hand in the opponents playing prevent. Again, I haven't spent enough time with this, but really you're looking at an eagles offense if you kind of remove the script and the fourth quarter catch up or down by double digits offense. You go from like an average offense to one of the league's worst. That's kind of tough to explore yesterday. The problem was the middle aid again. You come out with a great script. You score awesome, the Raiders do respond, but you have that. It's 7 to 7, right? And you're kind of in that final 5, 6, 7 minutes of the second quarter, and you can kind of regain that momentum. And I believe it was Todd, a third and three from the Raiders 40, and you're saying, oh, this is an analytically sound organization. Two downs to get three yards, not a problem. And then you're offensive lineman jumps off sides. It's third and 8, and then the Raiders can pin their ears back and use their advantage of the pass rush, and you sack a quarterback. And then all of a sudden, you punt it in your pen and the Raiders go on a 96 yard drive and get the momentum score before halftime and you're like, shit, we gave up the money that I'm score..

"Yeah. So the past game was interesting. You had some trick plays. You had Pruitt get involved over the middle, which is where you really want to attack the chief's defense. You want to kind of make their linebackers playing coverage a little bit. And you saw a linebackers that were really aggressive. There's a number of times where Bolton was run blitzing and stuffing Henry behind the line of scrimmage. But you kind of used that aggressiveness against him in certain situations with the play action pass. Ultimately, I think the stunning part was, you know, what the defense did. I think that was probably the biggest shocker, but the offense certainly did enough in the first half to build the lead. All right, well, we stay on that game. I mean, I'm sure there's some other good things that are worth highlighting. So I don't want to completely neglect that. Do you want to make the segue into what's going on with Kansas City at this point, or did you want to highlight some of the other positives that we saw kind of unfold throughout the course of week 7 thus far? No, I think we just keep right here and we kind of transition to the bad of the weekend and we can start with Kansas City if you'd like. Listen, it's the NFL, right? 18 games. It's a really small sample size sport. In every week, there is a head scratcher. And this was week seven's head scratcher. The Titans defense without its best players in the secondary shutting down Patrick Mahomes. And the chief's offense is something no one expected. Even if you loved the Titans in this matchup. No one saw three points coming. There was game day steam from a really respected group that went over 57. And it's why the total closed 59. It even touched 60 at one point. And the chiefs went out 3.9 yards per play in the first half. And as it stands, mahomes right now, completion percentage 9% below expectation as the worst of week 7 thus far obviously. You have jamis and Gino going tonight. There's potential that that one of those two might eclipse mahomes performance. How dare you? How dare you talk about Jameis that way? The worst of the week was mahomes. So I have no clue what's going on. With the chiefs as a whole and if things are fixable, but right now you have achieved offense that's a little beat up, that's not quite adapting to how teams are playing them and some of the studs are playing banged up. And then defensively, going back to what we discussed a few moments ago, you kind of get the inverse performance where everyone's yelling how you can't stop the run. And the chiefs were great doing that. But suddenly, the secondary, which is the strength, which is how this team is built. We're going to play with leads, and then we need to be able to defend the pass as teams play catch up. The secondary was not very good. They couldn't get off the field on third down, 67% success rate on third and fourth down for the Titans. I just, again, you had screen passes on third 9 backed up in your own end couldn't get off the field. You know, that AJ Brown pass or catch rather was phenomenal. And we really to this point Todd through 7 weeks have not seen a game for the chiefs where everything is working simultaneously. There's always an issue. And this week, the issue is offense, which I didn't think anyone saw coming. Yeah, I mean, this is an offense. Honestly, if you dig into some of the numbers, at a 138 yards for two and a half quarters had run 17 plays on offense, the entire first half compared to 23 for the Tennessee Titans. It just looked like they were out of sync from start to finish, and you kept going, oh, well, it's 14 nothing Tennessee Kansas City square here. This is going to be a game for a lot of the reasons that you outlined there talking that this was expected to be one of the highest scoring games, not just a week 7. But of the entire season giving where the total closed and it never lived up to those expectations. Kansas City was unable to get things going in the second half mustering a grand total of three points. They did pitch a shutout in a game that I guess was a comfortable second half under at 28 and a half. Had you had the foresight to go under there. Baltimore pain when you look at the ravens, we've talked at great lengths about Lamar being a much better deep passer, clearly has his weapons on the field and the likes of Rashad beam and Hollywood Brown Mark Andrews. But for me, it's starting to become a problem with this ravens ground game. You look at the productivity from players not named Lamar Jackson. Devonte Freeman for carries 14 yards, Tyson Williams two carries ten yards, levy and bell, 5 carries 5 yards. The longest run from that trio of aging running backs, a grand total of ten yards. When should we begin to get concerned about what Baltimore doesn't have as far as productivity from the running back position? Yeah, I don't think this is anything really new, especially if you are a loyal listener. I mean, outside of Lamar Jackson, the ravens run game has been a zero. Latavius Murray has done okay, but he was out. And then after randomly benching Tyson Williams, you've lost that kid's confidence. And now you try to go back to him. It's tough. Devonte Freeman Olivia and bell don't belong in the Lake. 19 yards on 9 carries for those two gentlemen. And bell still thinks he can get to the outside. That was fun watching that four yard loss. Where he took the boar. He was like lined up on the right side of Lamar Jackson and took a running play across the face of the offensive line and tried getting outside and I think a linebacker got to them. There wasn't even a safety or a corner, which you would expect, but a linebacker beat him to the spot. It was just, you know, that is not a great combination. Now I will say this. Let's give some credit words do. We praise the Bengals offense, but let's not forget about the defense. I thought yesterday was a total team effort. You know, you look at what the ravens did offensively. 5 and a half yards of play 41% success rate. Lamar Jackson wasn't really effective in the past game either. 9% below expectation. Things probably would have been a lot more bleak in Hollywood, not made that ridiculous catch one of the better catches of the entire NFL week. But they're not getting anything out of the run game right now. Let's see what it looks like when latavius Murray comes back. But fundamentally, that's kind of changed. This is what teams are doing now. I know Lamar is a little bit more effective on the ground, not a terrible day running yesterday for Lamar individually. But what you have are teams that are going to force Lamar to hand the ball off. And when you don't have a weapon at running back, that's all teams are going to do. That is the smart thing to do. Have your ends crash down and force Lamar to hand it off to one of the running backs. And the offensive line over the years have started downgrade a little bit. And then you got unfortunate news this past week that looks like Ronnie Stanley is now out again for the entire season. He did get tirey Phillips back, but then Ben Cleveland went down. So the offensive line is downgraded in talent and it hasn't been the healthiest over the last few years..

"We mentioned the passing game. Let's talk about the running game for a little bit. I mean p carol you mentioned he's run first guy always has been. Was there like that. When i was there hasn't changed at all. You guys have this guy chris carson. Who's been consistently a good running back. But i don't think he's played a season where he hasn't gotten injured. So what's the plan for running back for you guys right now obviously going to put chris carson out there. Because he's you know he's your best bet know. Are we going to see more rashad penny. Like what is their plan at running back. You think going into this season you're right about carson. He hasn't finished an entire season since high school without being hurt. One at one point or another. So you know i mean you look at them. I mean he's billick a greek god but he does the just is running style. You're gonna get hurt. And so they. Average shod penny A first round draft pick who. They declined their fifth year option. On you know he's never panned out to what they thought he would. There was a stretch In two thousand nineteen and and it's just a you saw what could be because for a few games two games. They were using them as a true one. A one b and they were getting equal snaps. They were both really productive. Chris carson is an under an underrated Receiver out of the backfield. They're using them. Both in that capacity and ryan the ball and you really saw how good the offense can look with those guys in there and then Rashad penny tore his acl and it was toward the end of the season so he was out. Obviously most of last year came back finally in december but he wasn't a hundred percent. That's a long recovery. So this year. I mean the hope is that rashad penny would be one hundred percent. He just missed mandatory minicamp after getting a cleanup procedure. Done on that same niece. So we'll see what kind of reshad penny we get going into the season. You would love to be able to go one a and one b with these two guys i mean. That's that's the ultimate. You keep smile java. Chris carson varied in what you can do out of the backfield. I mean if you can if you can do that. This offense will even it's it's it's up to the health workshop shot penny before we move onto the defense the offensive. Line the biggest complaint. That russell wilson has had the whole time. He's been there. I was there for four years. And i think the guy had zero time all the time and i think that you would agree that sometimes russell does run into his own sacks because of for the way he plays but what do you think about the the offensive line going into the season. I think i agree with you where you said last year is probably the best offensive line. He's had in the last seven years totally risk there. I think that they lost a player in the offseason because of some some sort of dispute domestic violence dispute. Is that a starting player starting caliber guy. Or what is that. Look of this offensive line going into next season. No no you're talking about Chad wheeler no. No he was actually already. He was not a member of the team. When that happened. You know you had been on on a one year deal or something. That was already done so he was. He wasn't actually member. The seahawks win. That happened but by god he was only a backup player. anyway so yeah no this office of line. shapes up to be even improved from last year. And it's it's subtle things like okay. So they go in and make a trip for gabe jackson. And you think okay well. He's a he's a nice guard he'll slide in nicely the reason why it's a significant change and why something that's going to help appease russell especially talking about interior offensive lineman for this team in the peak. Carol era and as this is going back to when. Tom cable with the offensive line coach. Taking over after after alex gibbs so the interior linemen are always always running dominant running focused offensive linemen. Every time they go out and get a free agent every time they draft somebody especially on the interior dogging guards and center. It's it's big road-graders gonna create holes for the running game. And this has been the first time i can remember where they actually made a commitment to a pass blocking dominant and that's what they got engaged jackson. They're going to move him They're going to put him a right. Guard damian lewis is going to switch. He was a rookie last year. Had a real nice rookie campaign era guard. They're to switch him to the left side. is a decent pass blocker. And so now you've got yourself actual guards who can pass blocking russell wilson time. So that's you know. Looks like they'll return either public at center most likely and then it. The book ends brand. Shell was a saini last offseason. Who exceeded i think. Everybody's expectations at. How well he played it at right. Tackle he's not pro level or anything but he's decent enough and then dwayne brown. He's thirty five years old but he still is a pretty good anchor there on the left side. It's say it's a more than capable offensive line again. Expected to be the best. The russell wilson's had since twenty thirteen and they can. They're still big enough and nasty enough. They can move guys and create lanes for chris carson. But they're gonna keep guys off.

"Russell wilson's had in seven years. But they're still not good enough to where your wedding for lawn developing plays you find okay. Well let's not there. There's no intermedia passing him really built in and so russell onto the ball too long. And then you know he's got he's got a guy in his face. And then the stf the runaround or get sacked so The offense once team's adjusted kind of middle of the year and combined with pete carroll raining in the offense and i call neutering the offense because that was the other part of it with the turnover. Russell turning the ball over you know I firmly believe that. Pete carroll said we're going to cut down these turnovers. I don't want you throwing into tight windows. I don't want you throwing geyser white as open and and that just didn't happen right so again. The result is russell. Hold onto the ball too long. Get sacked and the offense is i it sputters. It doesn't. there's no flow to it. And i mean you saw the game against the giants Where the offense was really exposed in fact and this isn't a slam but the game against you guys down there. That was really in the second half the only time that the seahawks really got it going offensively other than that. The second half they. They got worked. Yeah i mean. Watching that game was it was kind of surprising for the niner fans. Because we were like it's cj beathard. We're gonna lose. Like we already knew that and i think a lot of us me included. We're hoping to lose to get a better quarterback at this point because we knew that's where it was going and so it was surprising to see you know. Come out and look so you know not not the seahawks. And of course russell wilson turned it on the second half and end up winning that game which you know they. They didn't really need to win. That game i think they had already secured the nfc west but they ended up playing the rams and the rams came in and really worked in the playoffs and so moving onto now this season you guys had I'm pretty sure it was four. Total draft picks this year. Your pick the three three. So your first pick was was kid named dwayne eschede. I'm pretty sure your. What are your thoughts on this guy coming into the season. Obviously you know. I know you love kalian Caitlyn use the canes. Air galen is curious. Metcalf ya that's your guy you were on before anybody. Anybody on twitter i think. You're like cone drills. Don't matter this guy. And so you know. I was funny because i was like. I don't know how sick ox right on. This one ended up being right. He's you know he's a tremendous wide receiver as a huge threat to any team. And so now you add in the s courage the bridge and so what what is what were the seahawks plan for this strap. What has been the seahawks offseason plan going into this. Twenty twenty one season. The plan for this draft was to punt on this draft. I'm dead serious nate. And you've been up here. You know how much john schneider puts into the draft and how important the draft is to his process for eighteen but know having multi as many draft picks as possible is normally. What is important to john schneider. So the fact that he came in to the draft with three picks and left with three picks shows you how little stock they put into this draft. And that's why they make the trade for jamal adams where they to i know third from this draught along with bradley. Mcdougal the bringing jamal adams and the cost him a first round next year by the way to that i think they feel that hurts them a little bit more but look i mean coming off of covid. Nobody knew how much valuation are going to get on anybody. How consis evaluations going to be. You had leagues at in college. I didn't play yet. Leagues away to play until the spring. And so just kind of seeing that coming. I think john mpc really. Did they punted on. This draft picks that they did have look. I was going into the draft. I was begging for them to use. Not trade us that second round pick and use it on a third wide receiver. And that's exactly what they did and at somebody. That's not only going to suit russell wilson well but it's going to suit this offense well and this. You know the biggest. The biggest edition of the offseason isn't even a player. It's offensive coordinator. Shane waldron and for all their shortcomings. And all the things. I talked about in the second half of last season their failure to adjust this. Is that adjustment shane waldron. He's going to get the bottle russell. Wilson's hands faster. He comes from that. Rams offense that you talked about moments ago He he's a sean mcvay disciple. He's got to bring a lot of motion. He's gonna bring a lot of speed. Give him the ball quaking. Rus out on the edge. Ds krige is a great fit for what they wanna do there and and actually use that short intermediate passing game. He's a speed demon. He's a guy that you can. Ron fly sweeps. You know he's a guy that you can use on gadget plays. He can work that the slot. He can work the short middle of the field and so even though he's speedy like that you're not you're not using him as a as a deep. You have deep threats. I mean you have decay and tyler lockett which both are very deep But you need to work in the intermediate passing game and that's where the rich comes in. That's where the acquisition of gerald everett who knows a lot of parts of this offense. That's where he comes in and it's going to allow decay and tyler lockett to be more effective so we mentioned the passing game. Let's talk about the running game for a little bit. I mean p carol you mentioned he's run first guy always has been. Was there like that. When i was there hasn't.
