If I'm talking about their president and CEO Kevin Mather, then he and they probably did something really dumb and are about to get wrecked. Kevin Mather Resigns as Mariners President
"Kevin Mather is now the former Seattle Mariners president and C E O Matter, resigned yesterday following a layman tone deaf apology for remarks he had made earlier this month. I'm a suburban Rotary club Breakfast. My commentary focused on Mathers startling Public commission about manipulating the service time of young prospects by keeping them in the minor leagues longer in order to gain an extra year of control. However, mother also used his platform to, among other ugly foe pause, denigrate the poor English skills of foreign players and suggest that Kyle Seager, the franchise is best player was overpaid. Mather resigns as president, CEO of Seattle Mariners
"Ceo. Kevin mather is out. He resigned on monday less than twenty four hours after a video surfaced where he said all kinds of things. You don't want to be on record saying about your players. The mlb players association says his comments were inappropriate but give a transparent look into how club. Managers really think about their players. The teams chairman. John stanton will take over the job while the m.'s look for a permanent replacement.
Seattle Mariners president resigns after making disparaging comments about players
"An apology. Mariners team president Kevin Mather has resigned. It's fall. Not over remarks he made to the Bellevue Rotary Club. M's chairman, John Stanton, will serve as interim president and CEO until Mathers. Replacement is name.
Kevin Mather Resigns as Mariners' President
"Surprise here. Seattle Mariners president and CEO Kevin Mather resigned after video surfaced of his disparaging comments about Mariners players and a staff member. Mather was on a zoom call with a Bellevue Rotary Club in early February and complain about the English speaking skills of a staff member of former Mariners pitcher from Japan. And the language ability of a top Dominican prospect as well. Mather also admitted to manipulating the service time of two other top prospects to save money and keep those players under club control. Mariners chairman and managing partner John Stanton said in a statement that he was extremely disappointed. He said Mathers comments were inappropriate do not represent the organization's feelings about the players, staff and fans and said there is no excuse for what was said and quote. I won't try to make one We must be and do better that from Mariners managing partner John Sten Mather had been with the team since 1996. He was promoted to his current role in November. 2017
Kevin Mather Resigns as Mariners President
"Mariners are in damage control after controversial comments from there now former team president it was pitchers and catchers only last week. Today, it's the full boat load due in Peoria, Arizona off the field. Seattle Mariners owner John Stanton issued a statement saying Team president and CEO Kevin Mather has resigned, effective immediately. Stanton will take on the jobs until a successor is found. Mather is issued a public apology for remarks he made during a Bellevue Rotary Club zoom speech. He revealed the team's strategy for prospects during the 2020 shortened season, saying the Mariners didn't want to waste a year, calling up young players like Jared Kalinic, who had turned down a long term contract offer. Hello Nick a few weeks ago, said he's not sure when the ends will give him a shot in the majors. You know if you were to ask me last year if I felt that I was ready to be in the big leagues have been told yes, but, however, told you that was ready to years ago so mad. They're also questioned the need to pay for interpreters for some Latin and Japanese players who speak English.
Seattle Mariners CEO Kevin Mather under fire for comments, releases statement
"Go badly for that team. Generally it does otherwise. That would not be talking about that team. Because they never do anything right. They never do anything good. So if I'm talking about the Mariners, and I'm talking about their president and their CEO, Kevin Mather. He probably did something really stupid. And then he and they are probably about to get wrecked for it. And if I'm talking about the president and the CEO, talking to the Bellevue Breakfast, Rotary Club It's gonna go horribly for everybody, and that's pretty much the result of him running his yap to the Rotarians earlier this month. You see, he was speaking to the breakfast Rotary Club on February 5th. Those comments became public yesterday and immediately went viral. So why is that? It's because, he said, the quiet part out loud and said so on pretty much every single topic imaginable. Like you know, the speech to the Rotary Club where nobody ever says anything noteworthy? You know what's an all timer when you've got a guy like that, having to issue a statement, which includes the following line, and I quote I've been on the phone most of the day today, apologizing to the many people I have insulted, hurt or disappointed in speaking at a recent online event. Unquote at a boy Ste. Hot champ. How the hell could anything that happens at the Rotary Club go so horribly that you have to spend a day apologizing to all the people they even salted and hurt or disappointed. I mean, how dumb would you have to be? How bad would that speech have to be to warrant an apology like that? A statement like that from the CEO of an MLB team answer. Really, really dumb. And a really horrible speech. The hell was this guy thinking anyway? Clearly he wasn't my man's mouth was simply on autopilot. Check out what he said about that stuff about the fact that he admitted there was no way that he was going to call it their top prospects last season. Not because they weren't good enough, but because the team wanted to manipulate this service time if our major league team had had a Cupid outbreak. Or, you know injuries and we had to call people up from the taxi squad. We were a little short on players because there was no chance you were going to see these young players at T Mobile part. We weren't going to put him on the 40 man roster. We weren't going to start the service time clock. There were all kinds of reasons that if we would have had injury problems or a covert outbreak You might have seen my big tummy out there in left field. You would not have seen our young players are prospects playing in T Mobile Park. Check this dude out. I'm gonna gloss over the fact that a grown ass man An adult just used the phrase my big tummy. In public. I mean, normally, that'd be one of the more offensive things in a speech like that doesn't even crack the top 10 here. Honestly, the fact that he's openly admitting to being happy to putting a lesser version of his own team on the field in order to manipulate service time isn't even the most egregious a fence from this dope. I mean, we already know that goes on. We already know that a bunch of major league teams do that. But this moron is the only one admitting it in public and going on record with it. Except he wasn't done. He had more. Like saying that Kyle Seager is quote overpaid and that this would be his last year with the team. Like that's cool. I guess I'm not saying the Seeker has been lighting the world on fire. But maybe you don't hop on a zoom call with the Bellevue Rotary Club and put one of your key players on blast like that. And he wasn't done not by a long shot because he had some thoughts that he wanted to get off his chest about the second ranked prospect in the organization, Julio Rodriguez. Julio Rodriguez has got a personality bigger than all of you combined. He is he is loud he is his English is not tremendous. Good Take, bro. Good. Take Got a huge personality bigger than all of you. But his English is not tremendous. Yeah, I'm sure that's not the first time you've said that and I guarantee it won't be the last. But first he had more than you want to say about Rodriguez, because why merely irritate Why merely irritate one of your best prospects when you can go in on him and really piss him off. Everybody, says 2021. He won't be here till 2022 or 2023. Fantastic kid. Really big on social media. He loves toe. Get out in front. He loves the Mariners. That's a tremendous approach. Right? Everybody says we'll be calling this guy this year. The hell we will maybe next year. And you know what? Maybe even the year after that. Make sure we keep on sucking before he gets here. Why bring him up? You might help us. I love that he chases that with quote. Ah, fantastic kid. Really big on social

"Of feeling yes and save for me. Randy johnson has like just such a special place in my heart. I feel like you can't leave him off because like i said the role that he played on that team in those playoff runs like he was a twenty game winner in ninety seven when the mariners made the playoffs again he was an all star that season he was also an all star. Ninety three ninety four ninety five won the cy young award ninety five and like he didn't strike fear or king felix did not strike the feared two batters. That randy johnson did. Hey now that's that's the one hundred percent true. There's because again. Are you with that. Because i feel like with with king felix a nervousness of you. Know what's gonna come but you still can't hit both randy johnson. This guy might have a screw loose. I don't know where the ball's gonna come. He probably doesn't know where it's going to come. And i don't know if it's going to be one hundred. Three mound are fastball over. It's going to be in ninety. Nine are slider. Yep you know so like there was like a physical fear put into batters that very few other patriots have had course of over the course of a lifetime. He threw his first. No no in nineteen ninety cy young award winner ninety five and four thousand. Eight hundred seventy five strikeouts. That's strikeout nine of ten point six. Yeah he also had one thousand nine one thousand four hundred ninety seven walks which is pretty good for a guy with those kind of control issues and you know just shy at seven feet tall. Yeah yeah that was. One thing that i thought was funny that that yes the ball is coming out of his hand at one hundred plus because he's stepping halfway to the to the plate and he had he had a unique motion. You know a lot of guys have their arm at ninety degrees when they throw but he had that three quarter arm slot cocked. Where was yeah. Yeah it was like a sling. Coming out of there where yeah especially. Since armor so long for left handed batter the ball is starting four feet behind. You then have to swing back across the plate. Everything feels like it's coming at you at that point. Yeah yeah so as long as mustaches. And his mullet. That moore was males. But he just wouldn't been stockcar. That's the only difference. Exactly exactly the one problem. I have with randy. Johnson is that he went into. And i don't blame him for this. He went into the hall of fame as a diamondback as an arizona diamondbacks and you know he. He had good years in arizona. He won a world series of the diamondbacks. So i totally get that. They always wish that he had gone in as a mariners because he had he was so dominant in those years. But you know i can. I could see it because he was one. Two three four five time all star with the diamondbacks last time was when he was forty so it is what it is whatever. It's fine he's he's my he's the fourth guy. My mount rushmore. That's pretty good man i. I can't argue with you As far as not picking king felix. What i can do is tell you that you've left out. Arguably the most important personality in the entire franchise off your mount rushmore. Oh.

"That was like two weeks. It's like the last month of the season in chicago. A lot of people forget about that number seventeen with the white sox playing right field at the agent. What do you think about. It tells you your thoughts on the kid. Well so i mean you hit the nail on the head transcended baseball. You know the iconic backwards at the most beautiful swing. We have ever seen to date. I don't know of anybody who has kind of them. And cody bellinger. You could see kind of tries to mimic it. A little bit One time i noticed. His stance is very similar to griffey's He's changed it up since then His swing is a little bit in that direction. But i think that might just be. Because he's a lefty But i think you can see. There are some inspiration drawn there which is obvious. You know the kid who grew up in an mlb clubhouse but i mean griffey had influence over an entire generation of fans the only other guy can think of who had that kind of influence was michael jordan and their contemporaries playing in the midnight in the nineties early two thousands for sure their contemporaries and and you know as like my you know every day every kid playing baseball wanted to be like griffey And you know one thing that. I don't know how well known. This is about. His influence on the game is that griffey is his approaching. Bud selig is the reason that a they have. Jackie robinson day where everybody wears number forty two and also the reason. The jackie robinson's number is is retired across major league baseball. That's right ken. Griffey junior had that idea brought it to bug the but see like and it was executed. So i mean more than just on the field he i guess that's mostly on the field. But across the entire game that he understood the importance of jackie robinson his life and the league and he felt like it was important enough that everybody should understand that. And i think it's great. I thought when. I heard that i thought it was amazing. Somebody who cares way more about way more things than just himself because it could have been easy for him to be selfish his entire career. Oh for sure you know and you can argue that there were times. Be everybody's got to be selfish at some point you know. When he asked out of seattle we saw the junior documentaries because he was miserable he was. We wanted to be with his family. And i can't fault that especially especially being a dad you know but you know this the impact that he had on my favorite team growing up the i. I've spoken to people over the last few years. It's like i don't know why honestly if you didn't grow up in the pacific northwest. Why anybody be manners fan and the same answer. Every time is i grew up watching griffey like there. You go there you go well. Any japan You know what. I mean any any. Yeah all of the ten all star teams. That's transcendent right there. That's that's how you become a fan of griffey if you didn't grow up there in any way. Green griffey jr wins. He just as a winner wins all of the things that you can win so the gold glove every single year. He was in seattle. Is exactly he wins. All the things you can win. it's the thing does. Yeah yep absolutely saved baseball in seattle. I mean we can't..

Last night went to thirty good night that they think of. I didn't have a heart attack but they WANNA make sure that I didn't so I'm going to miss my flight. She goes why she's like yeah. This is the worst excuse all time. Ribs exactly buying goes. Let me and I made this phone call from a Gurney with the EKG machine. Attached to myself. I gotTa make this phone call. They rolled me out to the Reception Office officer room with my Blue Blue Gown with my butt sticking out you know so I had to make this phone call so she said. Call me back in about a half an hour. So that's a big game Albarracin I get. I have the girl scouts to thank for. So only. That's incredible. Yeah I mean and that was he probably really respected that you were you you just. I don't know you were yet a priority and a commitment and some unforeseen things went down you still call to let them know it was like kind of out of your control and thank God that he wasn't like you know also didn't maybe he was. You know you know he was like well did you win. And you're like no and he was like no we only winters res- so wait a couple more damn good. I couldn't. That's incredible so okay. So then you you. That's gotta be by the way I mean equivalent to a player getting the call to go to the show to be of putting in your time in grinding in AAA and then to get that call after all that especially on cloud nine is it just like crying is like Yeah Yeah. I I called I went back to the hotel that night because I was GONNA fly back to Columbus said. No we're going to send you to Seattle because we want you to be Dave. Niehaus we want you to visit with the radio station folks and the TV folks and the ball club. And I said okay so I went back to hotel. I call my mom and Dad and my mom and dad were both crying than I started crying years the minor leagues and they live. They went through it with me. They would they would come to Amarillo. Texas and I had some great stories about Amarillo. Texas Donny Reynolds was my roommate. Harold Reynolds is older. Brother knows way and one night of my folks came to visit one week and one night mindset once you buy a couple of guys over for Spaghetti. Dinner invited the whole team so the whole team showed up at our apartment. My mother was so happy. Love this great yes. She loved it so they went through the minor leagues. You know with me and you said you want to do this into twelve. So they've known years old. Would you do what I used to do? And and and turn the volume down the game and commented. Along with it yeah. My mother was the biggest cubs fan in the world. You know every time it came home from school the cubs were on TV. Jack recounts was the longtime broadcaster for the cubs. He was my hero. Besides Louis appreciate the White Sox but you know I would go downstairs turned down the sound on the TV said and do play by play. The Chicago cubs. You know. Bases are loaded. Here's Ernie banks and my mom. Go Ricky what you're doing now said busy. Ernie basis up with the base load. It's raining to fly ball mid fight with her as your combination like my guess is going to happen the ninth. The ninth of my mom would stop badgering me about the.

"Nineteen eighty-three nineteen eighty two. I'm with the Columbus Clippers The Yankees AAA farm club in the International League and I applied for the job and is a funny story if he got time. And if you could wrap it up at about two minutes. Rick we're trying to do a no time of course as your episode. I don't want to turn this off so all right okay. So nine eighty two. It's my eighth year in the minor. Leagues Finish up my season with the clippers real quick. Is that a long stint in the minors like along stem eight years as long. I was in Alexandria. Louisiana Police Amarillo. Texas to with the PADRES FARM CLUBS MEMPHIS Tennessee. The three with the expos double teams of the Southern League and then Columbus with the international league with the Yankees AAA farm club. Is it similar for your player that you are? Biding your time to try to get the call to go up. It's the same thing you're you're trying to move up the ranks but I'll broadcast of your grade you know from April to the big leagues. It's all about broadcasting whereas in baseball you need that rookie. A double a triple A. F. Success in each level. Did you ever feel pressure when you're in the minors you're like maybe just maybe? I don't have that one catchphrase. That people WANNA stick to. Maybe they're like dude. Rick Risk just started saying like Kabuki boubons like. Let's get to the Kabuki. That's a long shot over the weather. Like dude nobody knows what that means his smile and energy when he says it. We gotta get that gotTa King. Dome like did you ever. Is there that pressure of like I gotta get my sayings or you just hope that it comes in the flow the game? He you hope that it comes in the flow of the Game Thousand Games. You hope that you get better and veteran veteran you understand the game more and more and more because you worked with great managers on the Minor Leagues. Bob Miller Philippe Bay Lou Frank Birdie. Larry Bernard Billy Gardner You Know Pat Corrales and things like that and and the players meet along the way you learn from them you know even the ones you play against her. You know like our junior when he was with the Charlotte Orioles. But you know you just you just hope and pray that you finally get an opportunity and in Nineteen eighty-two finished by last year and I applied for the job and like my tape and so tape of like your calls said tape it a resume and tape so it's your. It's your your demo reel basically. It's my demo reel. It's like a rapper. This would be which by the way. People don't know that raises actually getting ready to drop a rap album. Sounds sounds from the dome. Do you know I was a rap artist back in one thousand nine hundred ninety what. Yeah Yeah. No Ken Allan Allan. We're kind of your enough here but that's Okay Yeah. I love back. They asked me if I would rap a song about Ken. Griffey Junior. He can hit this food. The MC Hammer Song. You know what was it touches? You can't touch this. This was he can hit this and so I rapped the song of win the studio you can find it on Youtube. Check it out on Youtube. Recruiters wraps Ken Griffey Junior Song. Oh my my wrap this song that they wrote and I recorded in their studio and they had the music and everything and it was the number one rated song on the radio station for about three weeks. Here's a little Italian southside of Chicago Rap Star about three weeks in Seattle. I mean dear diary take that all the old teachers that said rihts. You'll never be a rapper. Were the number one song on Z. Yeah take that yeah. Take that. That was your move dude. You your timing by the way real quick. No we'll get back to the minors your when Dave went on almost live with. I think you did a handful of appearances. There was one that stuck out. When you guys were John Keystone. I think right a I came what the was doing calls. What happened was It was it. Was John Keyser. But we did this piece with With Bob Nelson. That's right. It was David I were there on stage and that was a lot of fun. Almost live for people that don't know. Snl for Seattle existed. I think before or after but it was amazing. So you guys go on. It was like in the early eighties late. Seventies well producer. Bill Nye was on that show. Joel McHale Pat cash manage on Easter and Nancy guppy and Tracy Free Internet. There was a lot of talent on that show. So David I went on and Bob Nelson played the role of the low key radio. Now that's so they would play a clip of of dame fiber swaying apply ball way back the left field five. Fly Away all run rookie journey with do it in. He would go. Why Ball gone that? I would do play by play swinging around ball seaside by snow down the right field. Line of the book comes Bilour Joey through home. I like really home. Gets a biologic course. Scores consoles scores. Everybody scores and we go round ball right field. Everybody scores and then But God I it was. It was funny. It was a funny little skit and then a the Grand Slam. Get out the Rye bread about it's grand. Salami time Bob Nelson liable. Grandma makes salad here..

"Up beside Christmas Eve when you're five years old and you can't wait to get up and and get down there and and open up the presence from Santa Claus everything like that? You can't wait to the next day. Santa who you saw. We had Hannukah. I've heard about this guy. But what does he do? Clause big old jolly Christmas. Break Your House every night. Leaves Give Summit Alderwood Mall Ones. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Cal Friendly Guy. Always at the ball. Yeah Yeah you you walk into the Kingdom and and it's just the place is just going crazy. You know that Randy Johnson is GonNa Pitch you. You know that you're going to win. It was amazing because right before that Adam you know we're down in Texas with two games left in the regular season. I was nineteen ninety-five now. That was a strike shortened year. We start the season until April. Twenty six I believe because the guys finally came back with you which is spring training said. Open eight early April. We opened up April twenty six. So now it's at the end of the we just need to win one more game down in Texas and ended up. Losing Mickey Tettleton had a great game for the Rangers. Then we got fly all the way back home. But we're excited. They knew that they're gonNA win. Randy Johnson it was going to be denied and sure enough. He pitched that great game against the Mark Langston. But you walk into the Kingdom and even with nobody there you start to feel the little hairs on the back of your neck. You know. Get excited And you know Lou. Pinella is your manager. There's no ways GonNa let this one slip away. He's fired up. You know more than anybody and then van start to come in. And Dave and I Kevin Kremlin. Were in ready for the ball game and we know you know the weight. The impact What this game is going to be for main for the franchise because we were fighting for our lives stay in Seattle. People don't know that it was on the ballot to the you know the mariners. They were trying to get money for new stadium. Right there was. There is a vote on September. The seventeenth of that year. We're playing the Texas Rangers. And that was the night where Doug Stranger you know. It was a refused to lose. Everybody was a hero. Everybody was started different night. It's Homerun off Jeff Russell. But it was the vote that night for the one tenth of one percent sales tax to build a new ballpark. Well vote was coming in. It was real favorable than at the end of the ball. Game was still looking good but then votes came in. I think from eastern Washington at absentee votes came in and we ended up losing by thousand votes but my glory the governor of the State of Washington at the time said we. We can't let this club go so he put together legislature. You know a car. Rental sales tax it would together the restaurant and bar sales tax and the lottery and with those three entities at a we were able to fund enough money to go ahead and build a new ballpark it. We got SAFECO field which is now t mobile part right but if it wasn't for those three entities we want to have enough money because Slate Gordon who is the attorney? General of the United States Senator At the time and then he say baseball more the one occasion. He told me long after the vote he said it was a blessing in disguise that fail because had that one tenth of one percent sales tax passed in September nineteen ninety-five it wouldn't have generated enough money but the other three things did eventually to mobile park the best. Bomar in baseball. But anyway back to your question down David I sit down and Kevin and we know the weight and the significance of this ball game and you know Randy Johnson going to be Randy Johnson and it was just so that screaming from the get go right. I mean I mean I had to push my earphones and like this dolt so I could hear it was so loud in the kingdom. They refused lose all year. Long if you recall we were thirteen games out of first place on August the first with two and a half months ago with two months to go you once and and we had to make up a thirteen game difference and that was the third largest comeback in the history of Baseball California. Angels kept losing. We'd get well game. Yeah that's what people don't truly understand. Is that not only? Do we have to go on a run? The Tina was red hot. All Year had to miraculously drop which happens in baseball. Which is why the sport is is so incredible because the ups and downs of it and the getting hot at the right time mattering but for them to drop and US and guys like Vince. Coleman hitting Grand Slams. I mean it was it was. It was captivating I felt like I was at the right age. I was in seventh grade ninety five which is like prime time to be a basis senior in high school. I know it was crazy that you got the job but it was my my friends. I we used to take the bus down from. Lake Spark Albertson's all the way myself. Adam Frans Christiaan Jonathan Stevens all the way down to the Kingdom we would buy at Albertson's I a construction paper a big piece of cardboard or construction paper and write signs because our goal. Every time we went to a game was to get on diamond vision and got on. I'd say about eighty percent of the time Rob Ducey when we had rob Ducey. He came up with it so we signed this getting do see with it and this little. I mean second inning camera guy just boom. These kids got nothing going on. So let's make their week and but the the energy was so bonkers and obviously you guys Fed off that was it. Could you tell in spring training? You know we got to have a cool spring training experience to Suns Games and you were so cool again getting those tickets and my dad and then somebody's and spring training to me. Seems like a time where you can really get a sense of where the ball club is at but I also am curious. Is it so early though that you can't really gauge or predict people love sports to be like? Who's going to win the world series this year? It's it's it's nobody knows right but when you're at spring training what is the overall vibe is just all fun. Yeah well at the at the spring training of that particular year. Yeah like I said we had to wait and wait and wait and wait. And then the guy's game back you know the guys were really. They put out at the end of ninety four. The strike hit August the twelfth. The guys were playing really well. It went on the road and were winning ball games. They had the best player in the game of baseball and Ken Griffey Junior. They had a heck of a lineup. They had solid pitching so At Spring Training that year we finally get joined underway. And you're you're never really sure what type of club you're going to. Have you know you got the talent is there? But the key factors. Can you stay healthy through the spring? Can you stay held the season? We didn't junior got hurt but everybody picked up the slack. But I'll never forget the atom Dave Niehaus did a pregame show interviews. We do every day spring training during the regular season with loop Allah and he asks Lou Pinella lose the best team of American League West and said the Texas Rangers so anyway Kevin and had to edit that out. He took that out of the interview. Little come on. Nobody heard that Louis supposed to say we are but I love Lou Pinella. I love him. He's unbelievable he will to win. He taught us how to win. And he was a major force and and putting that team together and showing us how you know how to win ballgames because you know it was. American league rookie of the year went to the Yankees was a very good player with the New York. Yankees play under Billy Barton. Who played under Casey stangl? So yet that hard nosed edge and everything just wanted to win so You know you really don't know at Spring Training. A lot of things have to go right In Junior went down and may twenty six after slamming into the wall and right-center field kingdom chasing down a fly ball by Kevin Best Baltimore which is our heart song because Matt we knew he was hurt and he was gone for three months. He broke his wrist. Rest could've played in his wrist with seven screws. Keep it in. Did you know he was. He was badly hurt when he hit the wall right when he hit the wall. No when it came off the field yes because you know just the look in his eye. He was looking up like he knew he was really hurt. And if you look at that video you know. He hits the wall with both hands and his left hand does in between the padding padding and bright behind that it's just hard wall though his hand hit that hard walter the that concrete exactly in his hand proper that broke the wrist remember. Daves go Dave Juniors hurt like you said and the way he said it when he was holding his wrist it was like no you never think about junior was just a larger than life player and seemed like not even real. I know from a fan perspective. You know what's crazy to me is looking back. I got thank heavens. I grew up in Seattle during that time. It's how people feel about watching Michael Jordan. You know have friends in Chicago from Chicago. That are like dude. I went to games and look. They were super popular. So it's tougher to get a ticket to a bulls game and they were good but even in the early days. You knew what you were watching and for as a kid to even have that wherewithal to be like. I know that this is special that I get to come down here a school night and watch. This and every game was exciting. Because you didn't know even if it was a catch or even to see him just chase down twenty.

"Breaking news in the world is Seattle Mariner's I am told by two different industry sources have hired their necks coach in the mariners organization including this past season working with the likes of Justin done served as a pitching coach for two years he actually pitched with Chris Sale back in twenty ten learn before going back to his Alma Mater for the two thousand fifteen in two thousand sixteen seasons gene again before spending twenty nineteen with the Arkansas travelers in told by multiple sources in and out of the organization is that P woodworth being experienced to go with it he's coached he's played as late as two thousand eleven the way that prospects do and he's a prospect coach where do you think research they spent five ten fifteen years not even say five ten fifteen sometimes best thing that I've heard about p Woodworth and I've never spoken to Pete and it was announced that he would be the AA coach and I'm thinking okay who could be aa at that and then a ton of relievers actually moved their way up to an out sometimes communicator yes he understand Olympics yes he understands bio mechanics but he cares about is achieving the desired result for that particular and a player obviously in high school in College and at the professional going to see a whole lot of that here in the next couple of years most of the is He's going to be coaching you but not a lot..

"Switch between devices. And shouldn't I may be able to tell my my safe Siri dingus shouldn't. I'd just be able to say, hey dingus. Switch air pods to the to my ipad. Right. And if I've only got one ipad, then it should do it. I that would be really cool. It seems like something that they could do. Yeah. This is he apparently is not updated. Everybody for airports to. So it doesn't work with their pods. Well, I I think he did it. He's not saying that. But he just doesn't hasn't tested out yet. Yeah. And there is a preference in the in the window. It says enable for other w one headsets and air pods are not a w one headset anymore there the H one. Maybe he's doing something such a low level because he's so devilishly clever. That it doesn't work. Actually, haven't haven't noticed. I don't really use my air pods with my MAC, very often. So that's one reason why I you know. No, I don't I don't I guess I haven't even tried. It's definitely the device. I use it with the least. So that's why I still enjoy the experience so much. But it does every once in a while. I do want to use it in an often stumbles. Yeah. I use it for of course for watching baseball games on the ipad your Seattle Mariners. Wow. What a opening to the season. They had you don't care. It's pretty good. I do know I care, but I've been hurt too many times. So they opened the season with twenty three games where they hit a home run in every game. Which is I think broke the major league record. You would think the Yankees would have that record. But now the Mariners. Yeah. I have a lot of stupid ideas about sports teams there that are based on to the the branding and attitude of the teams from when I was a child. Like, I feel that the mammy dolphins should always be a team that that as a good passing game. But that's just because they had Dan Marino as a kid. But that's just what I right, right. The Dallas Cowboys should always have a superstar running back. That's just I just feel like that's the way it should be the Seattle. Mariners to me should always be a team full of like three hundred pounds sluggers who can hit the ball five hundred feet. Like, they may or may not be good. They're going to win the World Series. But they're gonna they're they are going to hit the hell out of the baseball. That's just to me that Mariners should always be very hard slugging baseball team. Yeah. Well, they have a park for two. Right. So I do hill. It's whatever they'll it's called this year t mobile park. Yeah. That's the worst tripping Lee off the time. Oh my.

"I was like, I still wanted to play, but I just knew I couldn't anymore. So yeah, I didn't watch it for years and then, but you know, and then it was kinda here and now I'm kinda back as as being a fan. Well, what brought you back was it? Was it just you mentally ready to come back to baseball? Or was there something going on in the sport that create some buzz that that drew your attention? You know, what's a sort of teaching a little bit more, you know, I wanted to see what guys were doing. You know they were playing and then I started watching it more and more. The academy that I had baseball was on twenty four, seven. So I just kinda, you know, was kinda stuck watching it here. There regardless. And then you know, just started becoming a fan of the guys who are playing. There wasn't, you know, obviously, you know, there's, there's plenty of guys that are that are fun to watch right now, but it wasn't one specific guy. Just kind of fell back in love with the game. I was really run reason to it. I just kind of out for so long and just kind of come back to it and said, no, starting going again. You said you said chappie would come out to the come out to the academy? Did did watching him specifically or just guys like him start to start to get those juices going again and and for the listeners, something I wanted to mention as well bones and I, I brought, I brought you out to the Oakland a.'s Seattle Mariners fantasy camp that goes on for the Dave Henderson foundation every off-season and bones. And I actually managed. He was the manager and I was the pitching coach our our own team and we fucking dominated we got to the championship things didn't work out championship at. That's all right. You know, it's hard to it's hard to repeat out there which is what we were trying to do repeat because we already did it once, but did have guys like chappie come through and then sort of coming out to the fantasy camp at being around because like I'll be straight up. You showed a unbelievable ability to lock in and communicate with people who just had questions about baseball. Some of them were very elementary question. Some of them didn't make much sense at all, and you still found a way to communicate with these people. So was it the reinvigoration of the young studs coming through? Was it being able to be around fans who really, truly just love the fucking game that that got that fire going again? Was it a combination of both what he got? Yeah, I think it's it's more so the fans. I mean, you know, when cap you some, it'd be fun to see him hit, but you know, like, you know, we seen that. Are you. Our whole pro career. He's an awesome did, and you know, coming in and it'd be fun to talk about him. You're talking about what he was thinking the plate and anyway, can help him with that stuff. But the talking fans that really are passionate about it that it could be a stupid question. It could be a great question, but that's kind of, I guess. Got me going little bit is is just I kinda quired a decent amount of knowledge you know with so many great coaches that I had talking to some guys, you know, talking to fans, it's kind of fun just to feel it in parts of knowledgeable, talking about the sport that maybe they don't, you know, maybe some inside stuff that they they didn't, they never heard about or they don't know about. So you know, always of found that fun and it just it comes sparked it a little bit more for me. Once I got to be around, you know, core fans that just love baseball. You know, makes a lot more fun for me. Do you naturally find yourself rooting for the as..

"One. All right. I put my name to this. My Twitter handle, underscore Alec Morgan, underscore that way. You know to my name to what I'm about to say. Seattle, Mariners. It was another tough one on paper looks like good night for the Mariners in turn into a disaster. Larry knocks out the big maple in the first. Then next time of the two two run home run that just felt like a giant book us all the mariner fans and coming out of the bullpen and long. Really. It's just depressing at this point. Oh, sure. Love having can back man. He really ride park when you can't wait. Fuck that up newly. Heartbreaker in the end. Still like team, and so I still have fun watching faced. We have one of the best closes in baseball. There's no Quinn the team just gonna give heart attack till the end. I think. Right. Thanks. Well, I hope hope that guy is alive to listen to the recording of podcast. Faye falling off the Clinton. There are few things to take out of that one though. I mean, like jet Lowry did take Paxton out like he. Ending. And seeing Felix come out of the bullpen. He got out of that Jim when he first came out, but seeing him come out of the bullpen for the first time in his major league career was like it was. It was so weird. First of all, that was an absolute rocket off the fucking big maple. You hate to see it. He ate though. No, grimace didn't fuck in grab it. Nothing. He just fucking eight it. Yeah, he did just eat it. He he got hit. And when he turned around there was a, there was a big rims like. He he shut down like purple grimace the ball, he, he didn't even go for the Bollock. There was no. Like I'm going to pick this up on a make a throw like there was. There was none of that. He didn't fucking fall down and flail around like a little bitch, like I did when I got hit with a fucking ball, but he he did not not set. Well, he had a massive fucking lump on his arm like almost instantaneously walking out. You could see it. Yeah. And then Lowery comes up and just sticks out fucking knife, a little deeper, twisted, throw some salt in the wound as well twisting it on our poor friend way to go. And he's right. He's -absolutely right? Watching Felix Hernandez, warm up on the game mound. Coming into his first career. Relief appearance there was there was there was something very depressing about that, but Felix threw the ball extremely well considering the circumstance considering he, he probably just got down to the bullpen. "The to the seattle mariners the seattle mariners foreign away and cl free and clear in first place in the american league west right now let's see two games above the astros and three ahead of the stroz in the loss column this guy paxton for the mariners has been a witch and in kaikal not so much in a in a negative direction gives up seven earned runs in six and two thirds innings he had a respectable era i mean everyone had been talking about him like he's been disappointing the entire season the records been disappointing the er is not been he hasn't really had the run support but then you see an outing like this raises the on the year to four point one three he got completely outmatched by paxton today again from the mariners and you know the the the offense for the astros it nine hits you expect more than one run out of nine hits but we're just not seeing the explosiveness that we saw a season ago alex bregman seems to be one of these guys brandon that we're just perpetually waiting for forever i mean you know like you talked to this everybody talks about this kid like he's a star and i realize he's great defensively and his on base percentage is creeping up to four hundred pretty solid right but you know we're just not seeing the consistent star level play from him you know and the rest of the offense not named jose altuve is giving us less than they gave us a season ago they're giving us they're just not we're just not getting the offensive output that we got from the season ago now i mean you can't really just expect them to just continuously repeat over and over again that kind of performance something that was historic i didn't wasn't the greatest seasons of all the offense i didn't even know that was the best they were capable of i mean they didn't have carafe for much of the season last year i mean i'll to bay was doing great things but why should we have thought that that was.

"Mike florio with rob stance gross that's cool thing we're gonna look at coming up like long streaks that may or may not end the nfl twenty but stats i notice you're wearing your seattle you're not on tv today because mike is off but you wear your seattle mariners little fleas there or whatever it is would that have to do with the fact that at a glance of the american league west standings find the seattle mariners at thirty seven and twenty two having just swept the tampa bay rays having won thirteen of their last sixteen the seattle mariners if the season ended now al west champions well wouldn't have anything to do with that because i wear it when they're terrible too but i will say it's the first time the mariners have been in first place by themselves this late in the season in fifteen years so they haven't been to the postseason since one right longest playoff drought north american bills the right the bills got in now it's your mariners and oh one they won like a hundred and sixty games or something like that one sixteen and then they lost to the yankees in the al cs not seen them since and it is amazing because i'm looking at their at their stats i mean i'm like who are these mitch haniger and edwin and what's going on with these guys you know our biggest stars can no he's hurt slash suspended and hey doing great is this sustainable they've played a softer schedule now which is about to tighten up they got a two game series on the road in houston coming up basically but they've been amazing in one run games i think they're eighteen and nine in one run games they've been undefeated in an extra innings so it's kinda fluky but you know what when you haven't made the playoffs in eighteen years or seventeen years on.

"You could just keep naming teams that you could have counted them out you know four weeks ago and now they looked at the kind of finding their stride a little bit do you find that it is a weird season kinda like different than most season that we've seen where normally by the time you get to the all star break you know some teams are definitely out of don't have a chance i absolutely do in every season is different any right it's a marathon and at the same time some of the teams that you're calling out the dodgers are interesting to me just because they had so many injuries early on that get justin turner back to get kershaw back and then all of a sudden kershaw's going for another mri so it could be another you know another aber flow in that dodgers season and then you have the seattle mariners who when i heard the news about robertson cano i said oh my gosh offense is going to go into complete turmoil it's going to be a tailspin but it's been the angels who have kinda fallen off a little bit and the seattle mariners are surging without having canot in there and that's that's the craziest thing to me and i mean even going on the national league side watching young teams like atlanta and go out and do what they do i'm always kind of concerned can they can they sustain that for a full season because it is such a long season and you're going to have these great moments these great two to three weeks where you think you can beat everybody in the league and then all of a sudden it spirals out of control you're like how are we going to ever win another game but i think that's what the astros in this ball club that they have their their built for the long haul they're built to get to the playoffs and then that's when the real season starts it's just basically war of attrition to see who can get through you know the regular season relatively healthy and and firing on all cylinders because there's so many different parts of the season along those lines jeff there with the ups and downs of the season.
