I realized because i visited performance recently in during that performance. I realized that this album has been made in like bob myself. Pretty much i made during quarantine like being alone which was perfect for the album and it's made for people who are in their rooms who you know may be our meditating or some type of psychedelic journey on top of a hill or in their room or just finding out for a day to just kind of catch you by in to tap into the flow just like happiness in the world in life you know and so for this next phase of my musical journey. I think that i'm really gonna tap back into what it's like to be a large crowds with people. Because that's something that haven't been experiencing for a very long time and that none of us have so. I think slowly by the time my next series of projects come out the world would be ready for that in actually going to hopefully be able to perform front of people. So i'm gonna make music that's conducive to that in in trying to get back into into wrapping put in a way that i feel like works with all of the things i've learned up to this point. That's going on about the impact of purity culture on these adolescents. You're not just saying being able to give that kind of authentic blessing. I may be reading into you. "Idea in ancient greek philosophy. And it's something that i think. We lose a little in modern american culture. We're various anti hierarchy. I legitimately have taken education courses that talk about ways in which the students should guide the teacher through the lesson. And i was just like no. Yes now which is something something now. Should students have some autonomy. They're humans yeah. There's something over there but they don't guide me. They can do things. Which have that that happened to me so a passion. But i need to have the so far seaney to recognize that thing. That's happening. I'm thinking of when i gather information. Do students know things. I guide passion when i received that. Receive that input of something outside is affecting me. And i now know something about my students. I still need to decide. I still need to be the one that decides what happens with it. And that's that's me governing the passion. It's just not apathy which is where the direct cognate from apathy becomes a problem. I don't think teachers should be apathetic to their students. But this should be dispassionate. Disciplining students or children or adults dispassionate. Don't take it personally. Behavior is a skill. that's what we get taught in boys town training. That paperless studying might not see basically cover the skills that needed to secure an engineering job. They may have the right technical skills but they might not have the professional skills that goes with. That said we need to improve the graduates that come out of the the system as well in the engineering industry. We haven't aging wit for so i came across figure that sat nineteen point five percent of engineers issue to retire by twenty twenty six. Now that seventy five years away and to me. What leasing that valuable experience and knowledge that we have in the industry. So it's really prudent to employ people to transfer that knowledge before they retire as The skills gap in general. There's a lack of young women going into stem vice crea. So what are some of the main reason unhappiness barriers to entry bigger moods. I think we have a lack of role models in the industry to look up to. I know when i was in the early stages of my career. And i felt like i didn't have a female figure in the industry that i look up tearing imagine being like when i got into later stages of my career being a female in engineering. Feel like it. We need to dedicate time to give him back. But this was a man who probably needed more help than that community could give him and i wonder if their attitude was unduly influenced by their anxiety to to help immigrants so to be seen as opposing anti immigrant. Feeling this. there's a fierce political debate over immigration laws already brewing in france. Sadly it's not the first story of a refugee who is being helped by a priest to only have turned on that priest the afterward last september. And and i don't want inertia to make all the decisions for me you sat. I think that's in. That's something like everything that you're teaching me to do as well. I'm forcing you to take. We're talking about using things or products that exfoliating skin from the outside in skin has its own natural exfoliating process which is known as discrimation. That happens from the inside out. Your skin does exfoliating naturally however certain things slow that down so we have the natural biological aging process premature aging which is influenced by different things that are external like say the sun and also situations where the skin itself has issues. doesn't exfoliating correctly in that often happens in the follicle this causes breakouts and blemishes and other unfavorable skin conditions. So if we're not exfoliating topically and hoping that process along it can lead to things like that seaney to give it a helping hand. Managing your time effectively
"Let's talk about time then. In the next thing i was thinking about what are some effective time hygiene or time habits that we can about to institute in the new year. And you know there's just so much of this thinking in the entrepreneurial world that the idea is to just go out there and to work all the time to sort of sacrifice other areas of your life. I caught myself seaney. Lan must describe how he puts ninety hours a week into his business. And i have a hard time relating to how that's possible and the reality is it's i almost feel like a little bit ashamed to it in the light of how this kind of hustle culture is so glorified but i spent more time. You know working on businesses. When i had a job and i sat in a desk from eight. Am in the morning until seven pm at night. Then i do for the businesses that we've run together and part of that is having good time hygiene and focusing on the things that count tell you what my trick is. Dan and it has been the last three. Years is just have a kid because that will clean up your act immediately. It's kind of a joke but it's kind of serious which is like there's a limit now on my time. That was never there before so when people had said to me in the past like oh man. I got so much more disciplined with my time. When i had a kid. I can totally relate to that so i guess what i would try and tell myself before is like how could i engineer that into my day like pre kid because actually used to pull it on must end like you used to make fun of me for it. You'll be like oh. This diesel just like sits down for like twelve hours and the reason i did that is because i kind of enjoyed it and one hand but on the other because i was like super inefficient and the way that was approaching some of these problems so it worked out because they didn't have anything better to do and certainly that's a okay position to be in. If you want to sit there for twelve hours you can do it. If you don't have much else going on which i didn't but now i can't afford to do that so i just have to be a little bit more deliberate about the way that i spend my time. It's weird because like besides being braggadocious on youtube about it. No one's keeping track of this stuff anymore and no one cares right and so it doesn't matter whether it takes fourteen hours a day or four. It's really a matter of practicing the fundamentals simply asking yourself. Are you being efficient with your time if your being efficient with twelve hours a day and what you want to do is grow the biggest company in the world and become the richest person in the world. Then more power to you. Know that's really cool a couple of things. I mean for me. My time hygiene habit in two thousand and twenty one is calendar in a lot more and the strategy essentially is time boxing and time. Boxing is an approach. That leverages parkinson's law which suggests that task expands to the amount of time that you a lot to it and this is particularly true in knowledge. Work and men. You've been through this a million times. Essentially you finished the task by the deadline. Yeah and especially in knowledge based businesses where there are these moving grey lines as to what constitutes being finished. I think time. Boxing is a really excellent approach. The so typically in my calendar has been only for meetings meetings blank space and in two thousand and twenty one. I'm going to get more serious about time. Boxing and putting in projects deliverables deadlines and areas of focus in the calendar. You know one of the small examples started happening in our businesses one of our team members. Alison i would set aside an hour to work together on our sales literature every week and it was simply a matter of like. That's a time hygiene thing. This is a very important thing it tends to get put off and we think it's important so how about we just work on an hour week together and keep each other motivated. This is something. I really wanna explore in two thousand and twenty one interesting. I mean that is a real example. And that's something that we've talked about behind. The curtain with our businesses like ourselves pages needed to be updated. And i like the conversation that we had is like. This is an ongoing project. And so you know with these habits. Die ideas like identifying what's valuable and then making it a habit one of the thing. I'll add to hygiene dan and this is something that i implemented in twenty twenty as it relates. A time is a bedtime. I to stay up really late and i know. Sometimes you're up late to text. You still be up but it is rare. These days dan that i stay up twelve thirty. The reason for that is because i get up later and then i can't be productive during the day as much as i'd like to be. I don't know. I guess this is being part of an adult or something. I don't know. I've always kind of you know moon lighter on the night owl. The best stuff happens at night really. It doesn't for me the best things that happened at night or like more interesting so i cut myself off. And this is one of the habits that i implemented for twenty twenty. Can the Midwest expect more derechos?
"That durant show that tour across Iowa and Illinois August tenth flattened as much as fourteen million acres of cropland seventy to one hundred plus mile an hour winds blew down trees and power lines more than half a million islands lost power some for more than a week. The word the ratio means straight ahead in. Spanish these massive straight line wind events travel more than two hundred and fifty miles and produce wind gusts over. Seventy five miles an hour. Why is the Upper Midwest climatological hotspot for these massive windstorms that howl for hundreds of Miles Victor Seaney is a professor with Northern Illinois University specializing in severe storms. Hi Victor Welcome to climate cast. Thanks for having me on. Paul what stands out to you about that August tenth Rachel probably the number of wind reports that we had over seventy five miles per hour usually when these jobs occurred you. Can get widespread fifty to sixty mile per hour winds. But as we saw in several cities in Eastern, Iowa in Northern Illinois and even into the Chicago land area, this particular day Joe was producing winds in excess along its path of seventy five miles per hour. Obviously, the wind speed gets higher. So does the damage we all know about Tornado Alley and there's also a higher donate show frequency there but the radio frequency is Also high here in the Upper Midwest and the southern Great Lakes right it is an actually if you had to pick one city on the map that experiences more durations than anywhere else in the United States, it would be sort of Rockford Illinois Northern Illinois here is really ground zero for the shows and it really goes back to the ingredients that you need in order to get these types of long live windstorms we've. Had some historic data shows in the Upper Midwest? The Boundary Waters Blow Down Fourth of July nineteen ninety nine is something people here in Minnesota remember what is it about the summertime atmosphere over the Upper Midwest? That's conducive to durant chose well, for those of us who live up here in the summer we know it's the heat and humidity, and of course, you have heat and humidity present on many days in the summertime. But what really differentiates from a direct show, Dave versus a normal thunderstorm day are these bigger disturbances that moved through the atmosphere and a lot of vertical wind shear strong jetstream overhead that all comes together to create a very favorable atmosphere for these rages. The bulk of evidence seems to suggest that climate change doesn't show strong links to the intensity of d'auray chose why is that? It's not that it doesn't show strong relationships is. That it's sort of unknown in that we have a lot of errors right now with our experiments in the models that we have that can project into the future the potential changes. Our best guess right now is that the amount of days that we're going to have in the future that having this extreme heat and humidity will increase, but it's sort of unclear if that's GONNA translate to more of these types of Drake Joe. Windstorms is there any evidence that Rachel climatology could shift northward as the climate warms there are certainly studies out there that show northward shift in what we call the mid latitude jetstream and these types of phenomenon in theory should shift with that northward shifting jet. Again, these are attribution type of studies that will need to be retested in the future and continue to be tested with new data before I think we can say anything. More robust about what we're going to expect with these types of storms. I don't think there's a rating system for Rachel's how would you rate that one that crossed Iowa into Illinois on August tenth this particular Drake Shift you had to ask me is probably one intend to one in fifteen year event across the Midwest Professor Victor Jen, Seaney with Northern Illinois University. You are the more junk food. You're eating and sadly more the junk food restaurants are open because a good restaurants are not open as of yet in many states so We're kind of left with the drive-thrus now and so Dr Lewis is going to tell us today. About how that correlates. He's going to educate us a little bit about something called biofilms which Many of you probably not heard of. But they're actually one of the causes as to why you want to eat some bad food so it's not all in your head and we're going to help you make sense of it and we're going to help give you a plan to help you make better choices. So Dr Lewis. Can you put all this together for us to teach us about biofilms? You know and I think part of the reason we're doing this show is because you know we're in the middle of this too and it seems like ever since we ate a Brownie. That was not gluten free. And it had all the regular bad steph in it we've been craving more and more junk and we've been feeling worse and worse mentally so we thought with it's happening to us and we should know better We definitely need to educate you guys. You can't control other people's motives you can't control the amount of toilet paper in the store God is going to be fun.
