Yeah, I would say probably a capable leader, you know? I'm not talking about the guys ethics. You know, I wouldn't trust my wallet around, man. I actually I probably would because he's technically maybe one of the richest people in mankind's history. You know, you won't see that and it won't say that, but when you effectively control the whole country, you kind of just are. They seem capable. As a country, they're the countrymen. They seem capable. And so the fact that they're opening up at the lows, they're banning it at the highs. You know, maybe that's a bullish scenario. I read it as a bullish scenario, maybe you don't have to read it as a bull scenario. Drew to you is that a bullish scenario? I mean, I'd see a massive amount of money in Southeast Asia and the mainland of Asia that's been held back and crypto face says without China's money, we don't get a new all time high. Yeah, and when it comes back, it comes back violently. They've been held back from the asset for some time and you have the media narrative that you can't get it and it's just teenager syndrome. They're going to, they're going to get it. They're going to get it when it's time. All right. All right, Bitcoin dominance reaches critical level. So when altcoin season, so when altcoin season, they shouldn't have had the H there, right? Just go full degen. The dominance measures, the market cap of Bitcoin relative to the total market cap of crypto. If the dominance is rising, it means that the Bitcoin share is increasing. If it's falling, the importance of it is decreasing.

"And so being a type a personality is type a personality, he would get a stopwatch and he'd start it and he'd like huff and puff and race as hard as he could all the way down to wherever. And he would time himself. And every day, no matter how hard he did it, 43 minutes. 43 minutes, just wouldn't improve. 43 minutes. And this thing that should have been enjoyable became painful in his mind. He started to avoid it. He'd be like, ah, I have other things to do. No, instead of bike riding, I'll do this other thing. And he realized at one point, this is really pathetic. And this is really bad that something that should be enjoyable. I am avoiding because I've made it so painful. So why don't I just go for a bike ride and enjoy it? So he goes for a bike ride and it's just a leisurely cruise. He's chilling. He's riding around and he's seeing dolphins in the water. He's standing up. He's looking around, noticing things. He hadn't noticed before. At one point, this is Derek. He goes, at one point, I looked up in the sky and there was a pelican. And I said, wow, pelican, and it's shit in my mouth. And I was like, ah, he's like, it was like best bike ride ever. I was like, okay. So he's having a great time. Pelican shit in the mouth and notwithstanding. And he gets back and he looks at his watch, and it was, I think it was 45 minutes. And he's like, wait, what? He's like, so all that huffing and puffing, all that sweating, like leg cramps, and pain was for an extra two minutes off the clock. That's outrageous. So he started applying that to his entire life. He's like, when it starts to get, now look, there are exceptions to all this, right? But he said, when I start to get really stressed out, I just stop. Because I realize 95% is enough for getting almost all of the results that I want and making it sustainable. And this comes back to the creativity, right? It's like if you always try to crank a hundred percent and you're like, I need to get 2000 awesome words out today. That's like trying to hit 43 minutes every time and huffing and puffing. And you're going to start putting things off. I need another cup of coffee. Oh my God, my shoes are so dirty. I need to fix my shoes before I can go out. I let that stand. You'll do anything to put it off because it becomes this intimidating task. So yeah, sort of the 95 versus a 100% is another one. Oh, I've got another one. I have to share. So this is one of my favorites. So Sean white, two things that are very interesting in the Shawn white. Well, there are a lot of things. But these eels, the all time record for metals at the X Games. He has, I think, two gold medals at the Olympics. And two things worth noting for him. And this comes back to the high expectations thing. Okay. So I asked him, what is your self talk when you come out of the gate for a gold medal run at the Olympics? What do you say to yourself? And he thought about it. And the short version is, who cares? True version is who cares? You know, I think this is a really big deal. Snowboarding, going down snow in this contraption. But at the end of the day, you know, I'm going to go home. I'll see my family. Which he borrowed from Agassi. When agassiz had his comeback, that was how he took the pressure off in very, very high pressure situations. To say, who cares? Which is effective when you put in the training. If you put in the training, you don't need to stress in that last minute. The other thing I took away from Sean is when he has a really serious goal. Like a gold medal at Sochi or whatever it might be. He also has a completely absurd goal to offset how stress inducing that can be. So at one point it was, I want to wear American flag pants on the cover of Rolling Stone mag. Like that was the other goal. Has some ludicrous goal to offset the serious. Wow, that's cool. So I've started to try to incorporate that in my life. I would really prefer goal that you have right now. Okay, so this is an exclusive. This is breaking news. Here we go. And we'll see where it goes. I'm a little hesitant to even even share this. But I'll give it a teaser. I'll give it a teaser. Which is sufficient. So goal, you know, I want this book to be everywhere. I want. I mean, I want everyone to read this. Like a friend of mine said, you know, I've bought four hour work week for a few people who really need it for changing chapters in their lives or starting a company, have given for our body to people who want to lose weight. He's like this one, I would give to everybody. So I have very big goals for this. So I have some other plans, which I can't go into huge detail with right now. But to create a fragrance for men. Really? And I mean, fucking look at me. I'm from Long Island. This is like a tuxedo for me. Don't really wear cologne or anything. Occasionally smell like I've been chased by hyenas or something if I'm sweating a lot. But I was like, how funny would it be? If I came out with like a Tim Ferris fragrance, oh my God. Amazing. Hilarious would that be? So what would Tim Ferris smell like? Oh, so that I can't disclose. But I do. Okay, like tequila. I think it'd be like a rough night. Yeah, tequila and pine needles. And it's kind of like a PR sort of thing. I think there was maybe only one Oscar nominee or two Oscar nominees of the whole thing, though. It's generally all these other celebrities. Like there's this whole weird. Is it the day before? Or is it? Yeah, it was like Friday, Saturday. Before the Oscars. But U cars came by. Look at that. And some other cool people. Greg grunberg, Viola Davis. Somebody from euphoria that Julie met. Anyway, she karsh was in my living room this weekend. He was. Well, he's on the television. Oh, right. Because you were watching the dropout. Yeah. We're going to talk about that too. He's great. He's always crush is blowing up. He's inescapable now. He's in so much stuff. He's fabulous. He's always great. He's always always good. Yeah. You want to talk to us about O's? Yes, O's Perlman owes the mentalist attempts to break Robbie ballinger's Central Park record. It's happening on April 8th. I don't know the exact dates, but the earlier this year, or last year, was it last year? Yeah, middle last year. Before when Robbie did it was the fall. Within the last year. When did you do your 10,000 event? It was right around that. Last spring. I can't remember. Anyway, he Robbie's first time around Central Park running in Central Park at all ever was apparently doing loops around Central Park. And he was trying to have the most miles logged or the most loops around Central Park during its opening hours. I guess it's open from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.. There's 5 hours closed. And he wanted to have the most loops. He ended up running a hundred miles, and that is the new record for Central Park. And O's is going to try to break that record. Owes says that for him, since running Central Park is hallowed ground, he says, he knows every pebble on that course. He's been doing he's been running there so much for his entire life. So he's going to be doing it to raise money for save the children Ukraine. He has is trying to raise a $100,000. He's personally putting in ten. He told me, and he wants everyone to kick in. If you're interested, he says he's going to be doing loops all day from 6 a.m. starting at the engineers gate. And you can join him for the loops. He's going to be running at a pretty quick pace. He's a great runner. But you can join them. You can just kind of cheer him on. He'll finish around midnight or 1 a.m.. He's going to try to do a hundred miles plus one or two loops. So we'll see how he does. And he's in touch with Robbie apparently Robbie's been really gracious and encouraging and wants him to break it. That's good to hear. Super clear and communication over this thing. Because I'm very protective of Robbie. Oh yeah? Yeah. Robbie's my boy. Okay. But O's, we should say, came here and did a podcast. Right. It's an unbelievable podcast. It has not published yet. So the audience is like, who's owes the mentalist? Oh, you'll find out. We talked about him the other day, but yeah, he's a very interesting human who has a very particular skill that is bewildering. And also happens to be this incredibly accomplished ultra marathon runner. So this is an interesting challenge that he set for himself and given my friendship and allegiance with Robbie. It'll be interesting to see two podcast guests vie for the title of this Central Park loop record. But when you have former podcast guests, who become friends, really. I mean, you still contact FOP. Going head to head for something like this. This has happened before, or is this the first time? I don't know if it's happened in this way before. Really? But it's fun to see FOP is in the wild, like FOP is at the Oscars. That's always cool. Did you get any FOP? Well, Travis Barker was playing drunk. On stage. And then Tony Hawk gave out an award with Kelly slater and Sean white. Okay, that's cool. Those two guys have been trying to get on the podcast and have come close a couple times, but still Kelly and Sean worked out. Who else? Maggie Baird, mom of Billie Eilish. Oh yeah, it was caught on camera. By Billy and finneas after they won their Oscar the other night. I don't know. Well, it's cool. It helps you feel more connected to what these people are doing out in the world. It is cool. I think you're listening to probably feel the same way. And this is the first time or gun in for well, they're not doing it at the same time. It's not quite a Colin versus Lou situation. But it is O is trying to take Robbie's Central Park title. Yes. Again, that's engineers gate, April 8th, 6 a.m.. Where's engineers gay? It's at 90th and Fifth Avenue. And he's running counterclockwise. He says his crew will be set up at the gate with posters and signs. They're expecting hundreds of runners throughout the day. So that's what he's saying. It's being publicized to the local running clubs. That's how it's been cool. Right on. All right, well, let's keep things moving. We have so many things to.

"Like, what do you mean? It's like not everybody has the air awareness of Sean white. Like, what are we supposed to do here? Yeah. I feel like that's a huge thing too. Like, oh, if you don't have this year's outerwear or if you don't have next year skis or this and that and it's like, who cares? Who cares? Yeah. I don't know. The industry made us think we needed to care, but really we don't. So I used to fall into that. This year, I was like, I need this jacket, but I got a new one last year. Like, why am I still in this mindset? Oh God, yeah, that was me too. And then there was inventory problems. And I was like, you know what? I actually have, I don't need a kid. I really don't. And it's just accepting that. And I was like, I am so privileged to be able to just get a kit like that. In the first place. So, yeah. You know what? Trying taught being cool as out being like carrying and compassionate and I don't know, observant is the new cool kid vibe. But I'm also just like not going to try anymore. I'm a nerd. I'm a dork. It's fine. Oh yeah. But I think that's, I think that's what it's all about though. I think also it's like part of getting more, I guess, mature. I remember when I was like a kid and I would see my mom do things and I was like, mom, why are you doing that in public? Why don't you care about saying this or doing this? And she's like, as you get older, you just don't care as much. And I've definitely noticed that. I think it just as I've gotten older, I just don't care anymore. And I realized the people I look up to are in the same mindsets too. I'm like, oh, what do I really admire about that person?.

masters and business on Bloomberg radio My extra special guest this week is rip out to Patterson She is the director of investment research at Bridgewater associates the world's largest hedge fund previously she was chief investment officer at bessemer trust where she oversaw more than $85 billion in client assets So listening to you discuss inflation I think you approached it in a way very different from what I've been hearing other people talk about You said quote demand shock is what's driving inflation Explain demand shock Sure So when we look at where we are today with inflation in the United States it's very easy to quickly go back to the late 1960s early 1970s and say okay high and rising inflation high gas prices that said that's behind the curve yeah okay There are similarities that are worth noting but back then what was driving the high inflation were supply shortages That was the key ingredient Today obviously there's things on both side of the demand supply equation But the bigger deal is the surge in demand which is just overwhelming the supplies So let me give you a number here to make this feel more real If you look at the supply of goods for U.S. consumers it comes from around the world So produced everywhere in the U.S. and China outside et cetera It's running about 5% above where it was before the pandemic So the supply of goods has increased on that But then look at the demand side the demand from U.S. consumers today is about 20% higher than the end of 2019 And you see similar patterns across a lot of things whether we're talking about investor or metals where supplies today are high but the demand is much higher that's pushing that inventory ships We have more ships on the ocean today than we did pre-pandemic but it's just not enough Labor markets we've got no shortage of jobs today We just have such high demand for jobs And so yes there are supply constraints here and there I'm not saying there aren't I'm just saying the bigger deal this time and what makes this so different from the 1970s is this absolute boom in demand So let's stick with demand and another comment of yours was witnessing the biggest monetary stimulus outside of wartime referring to the various cares act The fiscal stimulus is that the key driver of all this demand Yeah Well it's the one two punch of monetary in fiscal So Barry when you and I were mirror children it was all about interest rates right The fed was using short term rates to affect economic conditions We'll call that monetary policy one And then in 2008 rates hit zero the fed needs to ease more So then it starts launching more quantitative easing So we call that balance sheet usage plus interest rates MP two When we got to the pandemic okay the fed went big and it went fast We cut rates We did huge amounts of quantitative easing but it wasn't enough to fill the hole in the incomes of the pandemic when we shut down the economy And so fiscal had to play a bigger role fiscal became the dominant policy lever driving growth and the fed facilitated it Obviously the feds go independent but the fed by keeping yields low by buying the bonds was allowing the.

guess How are investors playing this to find out Let's bring in Bloomberg intelligence senior energy analyst will hares Well let's step back maybe 30,000 feet and just give us a sense of the not guess situation across Europe and the UK What's happened How do we get here Yeah so as you mentioned Paul Europe has admitted a acute and worsening energy crisis which has been particularly evident in natural gas There's several factors at play here but some of the key ones have been very low storage coming into heating season We're also seeing geopolitical risks So this is coming through with suppressed Russian pipeline supply And we've also seen other elements like nuclear capacity retirements unplanned outages So there's been pressures from multiple of sources and this is really resulting in record low European gas storage And this has pushed European natural gas benchmarks to record levels and just so the American listeners are aware Current natural gas pricing in Europe is roughly 6 to 7 times as expensive as the American benchmarks And here's my naive question of the day which Alex would be very upset if she heard because she is an energy geek which is it's so cheap over here Why don't we just send it to you guys Is there economically it's just not feasible So in short your answer is that it is happening but as gas is a highly regionalized commodity the only way to ship gas from the U.S. to Europe is to LNG and this is happening Europe is buying a lot more LNG cargoes than it has been previously And this is starting to ease the crisis But the way this is really coming through is it pipes natural gas supply So the vast majority of natural gas supply in Europe is meant to Russia and Norway which equates to about two thirds of it And we are seeing suppressed Russian supply as a result of some mounting geopolitical risk And this is the main driver between much lower natural gas storage levels at much higher prices How are investors trying.

So pretty much if I wanted to watch any other events, it was just the stuff that was like on ice pretty much. So I went to like a curling hatch. That was fun. A carer is named it. I think that they might have wanted that year, but there was the one guy that was just out with a huge fan of the curler and then I remember they won their medal and then I was just I went down to eat and he was just all at the McDonald's and just enjoying, I don't know, those guys were awesome. And then I saw the short track speed skating was one of the most electric events I've ever been to in my life because they're like the long track was slow because it's like a marathon pretty much. And then the short track came on and I was just blown away by it because they're going so fast they're passing the baton and just kind of going to those events was kind of my favorite part, honestly, because I didn't go on that great for us on here. I know you mentioned McDonald's twice already, but did you develop a taste for the Korean barbecue over there? They got some great food there, don't they? They do. We didn't really have it like the cafeteria was pretty standard, but my parents were there. I went to one of the barbecue places. One of the days with them. I was surprised. I mean, the food was good there. It was super, I think the best way to say it is like clean. It was just like super clean there and the food was good. I had a great time. Be honest. When's the last time you fight up the YouTube clips from the world juniors? Like, before this interview? No, I mean, it's been a while. It is something that I'll see people tweet at me or like it'll show up and it's something that I'll watch and it just it still gives me goosebumps. 'cause if my man was in the Winter Olympics, honey, I would be in Beijing in two seconds, okay? I'd be like, Jay-Z to Beyoncé, just right by his side. Yeah, no, I'm really excited for him. Just to get into the Olympics at all, is one of the hugest accomplishments, let alone to get him 5 times. And I'm so excited. I'm so proud of him. I love that. Now Jules, I know you and I just met, but I feel like we're Friends, so I can call you Jules. This energy healing that you tried in Switzerland. You know, I, everybody was freaking out. Went viral. Things got crazy. I have to know, are you still doing this? And do we all need to try it? Yeah, I was actually just in Napa. This last weekend with John, amaral, his wife, Christina, and on another retreat. So it's interesting because, look, when you see something like this, it's hard to understand, but it is, you know, I think we're living in a day in an age right now where this isn't as woohoo as you think it is. It just is definitely weird to look at. Oh, 100%, you know, I think you have to try everything at least once. Ninety five saint louis and did you. You went with the rams from from l. A. to saint louis yes. I was a rookie. I didn't know any better. I was you know turned on the i was in orange county. Yeah living with my college roommate and turned on the tv. And there's georgia frontier on tv with sparklers behind her and it said saint. Louis rams i said well i guess we're moving. I gotta go now demarco to a my really good college buddies were on that team with you. One was sean gilbert kill. Yeah right and one another one who is one of my closest pals in college. Because i was number nine. He was number eleven. So we lock right next to each other guy by the name of stephen israel big. Yes absolutely right is that was my guy that year that the year that they were drafted. Which i want to say was ninety. One ish gilbert sean. Gilbert was the number two overall pick in the draft to the rams yet and. I think that. I want to say that.
