"Just watching the game. It just seemed like both dallas lines wanted more than the chargers lines did There just wasn't a whole lot of fight upfront. Another charges ran the ball pretty well but you mentioned no pressure. They couldn't stop the run at all. the defensive tackles were getting driven five six yards deep in the defensive backfield again. This week a linebackers getting picked off left and right by a second level linemen climbing guards and things like that that they just couldn't they couldn't feel they couldn't get around they couldn't shed It was it was rough. The chargers looked for st long stretches of that game. They look pretty overmatched On both sides of the ball which surprised me. I really thought that the chargers defensive line in particular would at least pressure dak maybe force a couple of mistakes and like you mentioned. They really had a hard time getting anywhere near him. Without sending five or six people. They couldn't get home four which seemed to be the game plan until they really need to start dialing up the pressure and they started sending five and six and once they started sending a couple of extra people than they started getting a little. Bit more pressure but it was just mean that defensive line was invisible. They shut down bosa outside a role in a tillery in new also. I think getting home on that one sat they split. There was nothing that defensive line. It was pretty discouraging given the state of the dallas offensive line. And hopefully that something will change soon. Yeah the very first. Play from scrimmage with christian covington breaking through his app and stopping zeke for. I think like a one yard gain or no gain at all and i was like man. I hope this is the tone of the game and that was not the case. I was happy on the first. Play from scrimmage it did. It changed very quickly Tonio wants to talk about storm. Norton mind norton was useless as an anti virus. It happens that he is a football player as well. Yeah i mean i storm. Norton was an issue today. He was getting mica. Parsons was having his way with storm norton and the fact that storm norton configure out. All parsons wanted to do was cut inside of him. He just never figured it out in where i mean. It was so clear to see. Everybody knew what he was doing. He wasn't gonna try to run. The hoop and go around was always going to cut inside and norton always duct outside. Parsons cut inside every time you give them a head fake. You'd still get inside. Just go inside and you'd be able to get inside. There's no way. Norton stop them and the fact that the chargers never put a man on just in herbstreit side like actor justin jackson around for your anybody to give him help is so concerning because in the preseason we saw trae pipkins get whipped in the preseason for that safety and the first thing out of staley's mouth was we got to see what he really is but in a game. He's going to have help on sundays but store norton as give me help with the waiver. Sean slater playing storms to get going to get an extra guy on his side. it's crazy. yeah they really hung out to dry. I mean he. He played pretty well last week in limited duty but he was exposed pretty badly today. Which is something we all. I think expected with him getting extended. Snaps you gotta chip. You gotta have tight end over there to help you gotta do Slide some kind of protection over to help him. Yeah and they just did nothing and he was left out there on island and he got abused by a guy. Who is i mean. He's he's off ball linebacker and they had them playing defensive end out of desperation and he chewed norton up. Yeah i thought personally. I thought parsons. He played really well. But i thought he had at least two or three late. Hits on on Herbert that were call late. Josh latent to three extra steps after the ball was out blasting him in the back with no call and they were worse than the place we saw last sunday that bosa got flak for the as amazing. Yeah parsons in herbert two or three times. Absolutely yeah man i just. I don't understand what the game plan was why they didn't give him any help. Parsons played great. But he was a speed guy he was gonna try to beat you inside every time. Norton just could not figure it out. So there's a question here. And i know i know you and i have talked about it. What do you think about having filer. Kick out to right tackle and then brennan high the rookie. Who looked really getting preseason moving at left guard something worth exploring practice to see how it looks but my guess is they're not going to want to have to rookies on the blind side So so early in the season. I think they're going to try to wait it out. Maybe see if they can give norton somehow maybe see if they can get something out of michael scofield. God help us But my guess is they're going to want to avoid having to two rookies on the blindside. I just feel like that's kind of putting those guys in a rust spot. And maybe part of the reason. I mean slater is really really good but part of the reason these having so much success is because he has such good veteran presence helping him to the inside and if he loses that might expose some things a little bit so they might not be in too much of a rush to make that change. Yeah and on that fourth down play where they needed yard that went right behind matt filer. Snuck it with herbert. And they got it with these. There's one question here about the defensive line. And i mean back to that question. Sorry i don't mean to jump around here but it seems like it on paper. This is the best five right now with storm norton but i think they don't wanna make a wholesale change you make to moves and kick filer out right tackle when he's comfortable there and the left sides done pretty well so far through two games so yeah. I don't think they leave to rookies on the left side. And i also think they make too changes. I think the easy change here is put michael scofield. Right tackle which you've got to hope. Gotta be better than storm norton and then back to the question. Did the chargers justin jones more than we thought absolutely not. This was an issue with justin jones or not in my mind. Yeah i mean. I think what we really saw is just the extent to which the chargers have absolutely no depth on the defensive line at something that we talked about training camp something we talked about during the preseason and leading into the fifty three they just have. There's really no quality period on the interior defensive line.

"Do you wanna tell bill and the listeners about your experience at shea. Mcveigh i went before. The season started to set him up. I was is like. Hey i can just set up for you. I can do it outside on companies like come on. What's up with foot. Can i went in and show them for thirty minutes. And he's the best. And i was like well. I'm rams fan now also. Sean told me that he went to the bathroom and came out and craigslist fumbling through like his like his accolades and his awards like he went to the room roommate. He saw craig just going through like as nfc championship ring and hating yearbook and everything. Yeah nfc championship. Because the patriots took the rain from there is that of championship. Bring you'd have like mcveigh kool-aid drinking meetings Wait craig stay on for this on cowboys. Chargers who that line has moved for to three and a half. Plus for the cowboys. It's the marcus lawrence being out. I know i know. But for some reason they're judging this like it's a home field advantage thing for the chargers and yet nine. What ninety five percent do you know in each delivered. You know any chargers fans. I'm becoming one. But no i don't know any. I love charges but this screams cowboys. Teas you get them up to ten and a half she seven point on this. That's easy paired with like the rams kindle like plus three that's easiest game's going to be like thirty to thirty five buildings. Craig craig have a history with million dollar picks we give a shit what he's saying right now. I don't know either. I mean we we we. We could listen to them and see what happens. I mean what part of how you growing franchise. Maybe this is a very. This is my shot craig. Let me ask you. This teased the cowboys to ten. And a half you tease the over down to forty seven and a half. Oh my god lock century we on the fantasy show coming out tomorrow. We talked about over under for dak. Herbert's yards both around three hundred hammarby over on their concert for like three seventy. Herbert was weirdly good last week for such a strange game. The weird i mean. We're sean slater should be your afc offensive rookie of the year. He held chase young two one pressure and completely held it down as a starting left tackle in his first career game. Unbelievable he was awesome. And then lindsey their center blaga. The chargers offensive line is going to keep that pocket clean. I think the chargers beat the cowboys this weekend. That's my take and home field play much of a role because it's going to be mixed. I'm with you on. I think this is a stay away as a straight up. But i like the idea of tea so we'll get back to that all right. Thanks craig love your Two more quick ones. Texans are plus twelve and a half against the browns. It's just way too high. It's just way too high. it's the most. The browns have ever been favored. I think since they moved back to cleveland and ninety nine. I don't know if the texans are bad bill. The texans are going to be fun as hell to watch they. They ran the pistol offense last week the entire time. They the pistol out there which is like nevada. Chris all type stuff Tim kelly's the offensive coordinator. I you know. I don't see anyone talked about the texans because it was like the shawn watson is not there well the shawn watson was foreign twelve as the starter. I don't know what the rest of the team felt about. The being dismissed. But i know that tyrod taylor. Danny 'em dollah mark ingram. Justin brit brandin cooks are pros. Those a pros. They don't come out and they don't get pushed around. They're not gonna get embarrassed by a first year coach and a first year quarterback they took care of business and they were underdogs at home last week. I don't think that this team is gonna get blown out by the cleveland browns. Even in cleveland. I you know tyrod has got a lot of pride. That team is a lot of pride and they play a smart football. If you saw last week it was like they just moved the ball down. The field amendola is still playing. Seventh team got signed about two days for the season and he's killing anger. They have some old cagey veteran. My god philip lindsey. I mean he's not as old as those guys with these super. Listen texans plus twelve and have lions plus eleven half so then. The obvious thing would be like oh cool. I'll do three team ten point. Tease brown only have to win by three packers. Only two by two. And i have ten free points to move ever what it looks too easy on. Paper peter schrager. I'm afraid of it. I don't know which one are you more afraid of because we talked about the lions packers case earlier. What if the packers just suck. Wouldn't the lions are able to just block them. And i'm afraid of both of those games so i just wanted to flag that underdog your real quick by the texans. They ran something called thirteen personnel. Which is three tight ends one running back one wide receiver a bunch of times during the game and like the jaguars. It looks like they had never seen it before. They what the texans were. Running on offense was so fun to watch. No one washes game. They were all over the field with all these different formations like they can confuse the defense i. I think they're going to be sneaky competitive in this one so stay away. Are you ready to have. The could the texans when the afc south conversation yet. Or no. no. Because i saw the jaguars win their first game and lose fifteen straight last year. So i'm going to slow down on the texans high. But i know this. I talked to a guy in their organization. The night before the game and i was like. So what about the shawn. Watson house up like dude. It's not even a conversation within the team. They all have their own thoughts on it but like there's too many professionals on this team too. Many brandin cooks has been in super bowls mark. Ingram has been you know in big games. Tyrod been these. These won the super bowl ring. And he's played like they're not worried about is the sean coming back or not. These guys are playing for their careers so that was never really an issue within that building do want here. The afc south thoughts on faneuil. Yeah what do we got titans by one of five okay gave up five sacks to one guy last week colts plus one forty. Probably one of my three least favorite quarterbacks in the league. Jags nine to one ridiculous texans. Thirteen to one. How did the texans have worse. Odds than the jaguars. Didn't people watch football. Just beat them Should we should put on. I don't know man for certainly thought about it. okay Underdog parlay possibilities dolphins plus one fifty six against the bills. I like panthers. Plus one sixty over.

"We're going to watch the game multiple time wednesday so you got a more in depth conversation then and then the other thing was i forgot. I think that was it. Okay all right. I think that's it okay. So let's go ahead and just get right into it. We're going to storylines we're gonna go offense defense and then at the very end we'll talk about. Maybe where we messed up a little bit in terms of our Assessments on after our so. Let's go three storylines to start with mess up on our assessments. We never never all right. So let's talk about offense give me a big storyline. He saw on this rewatch from sunday. Well i think the obvious is the first obvious. Storyline from offense is the offensive line. We hadn't seen them play together in the preseason. Really at all Only i think Matt filer o.'day obuchi really got reps in the preseason But they played really well as a unit. It looked like the communication was on point all day long. There really weren't any you know leaks in the gaps like we're accustomed to seeing within fini at center so lindsey was doing a great job of identifying and communicating those those blitzes Response slater shut down to the best pass rushers in the league as they rotated from rotated sides there to go up against him and Brian beluga he really manhandled a chase. Young quite a bit and the interior. The line held up extremely while o'day boucher think exceeded everybody's expectations. He was one of the guys who at least i had questions about his. I didn't think he played particularly well. In the preseason. He did have one penalty. It was a worship penalty but he had a penalty for hazardous face on that final drive but they played extremely well as a unit. They ran the ball on the needed to I think i saw on twitter that that they only allowed like a twelve point. Eight percent past six pass rush success rate or pressure rate To that ridiculously talented defensive line so they they really held down the fort. They gave justin herbert time to operate in the pocket Basically every time he dropped back he had a perfect pocket to operate. From the only time we really had to move was when guys weren't getting open and he had buy time But we didn't have to scramble. He wasn't dodging guys in the pocket very often. They only got to him twice to the washington football team so the offensive line was amazing. And if that's how they're gonna play the season and you gotta assume they're just gonna get better as they gel and get more reps together I think just in herbert and the running backs and the coaches and the fans are in for a real tree because that unit played so well and even store norton when he came in to replace for. Brian baga he played exceptionally well. Handled chase young about as well as you could better than anybody could have expected so everybody all six guys who played on the offensive line were phenomenal and they did a great job. Tekken justin herbert and that was really the key to the win. Yeah i was gonna mention yeah. Storm norton came in. I mean he gave up his fair. Share pressure's really on but we kind of talked about an after hours. But when they needed it most on the very last drive to close out the game storm. Nothing was really really good. Gave herbert enough time to operate. And yeah the offensive line was a thing of beauty a boozy. Yeah a guy who a lot of people you know. We're kind of down on and deservingly so because he wasn't very good in the preseason but a guy that's just been a steady performer when he's at detroit I thought he was pretty good. And if he's good enough and calm. A boozy could be his nickname nick with that. We'll we'll see how that works. But yeah i mean. I you know the you can't say enough about sean slater and zero pressures gave up on sunday and everybody else across. The board was very very good So i just going back. I wanted to talk about As my story is the offensive. Play calling it was very balanced early. In the chargers game the team ran. Fourteen plays on sunday. The seven past seven runs the charters only had one play on first down those a net negative not counting the kneel down by herbert at the end of the game there were two negative. Plays on first down a three loss on a run by roundtree and then of course the herbert's interception which obviously doesn't count as a negative. I mean as an egg. Replay interception but wasn't negative yards because turnover so though there were too bad plays on first down outside of that all very seven hundred thirty four first down snaps results in a first down which is twenty one percent a one of their first downplays went for the touchdown to snack layer. Which is three yard. Run also had no penalties on first down so lombardi was aggressive. He was balanced and that kind of helped open things up especially on the first drive and then the last one to end the game there was a concerted effort to get ahead of the sticks on first down as the season rolls on. This is a strategy. That i think is a really really helped them because if they can get to second you know if they're picking up five six yards of first down you can gamble a little bit more. You can take more shots. They're staying ahead of the sticks rather than anthony. Lynn kind of being that you know run first and second at eight thirty eight and they're in trouble so i i love the play calling early on on first down. I know matthew stanley had a bunch of stats on this to honorable from blue article. But this early on running. And i down and being balanced having seventy seven for pass run was very good so is not only balance but they were able to get ahead of the sticks more often than not so very very good job on first down from joe lombardi something that stuck out as on the second rewatch a loved the way they kinda pursued that you know. Put the ball in his hands early on first down and let them throw it and they did late when they needed it but that first down play calling. I liked lot. Yeah the play calling was It was fine. It was creative. The offense was very efficient. You know you mentioned there. First down success they were fourteen of eighteen on third on third down. Not including the kneel down on the final third down Just everything about that. Performance was highly efficient. They didn't waste any effort. Didn't waste any emotion they weren't behind the sticks consistently it seemed like they constantly in second five second four second and three and adjust helped keep things rolling and i think the other thing that i really liked as you could see them rolling out certain formations in certain looks and it's obvious they're building towards something with some of these looks the one i pointed this out on twitter during some film study but there was one formation they were they were running twelve personnel with trae pipkins as tight end to and the first time they ran it..

"Time he's thoughts on sunday's game A couple of other things for me on sunday's game as well then we'll get to the eli pate and broadcast from the monday night game last night. Antonio gibson was on the injury report yesterday with shoulder injury We are recording this. Podcast don't know what his status was practiced. Let me just point out that according to reports yup From ashbourne from the media antonio gibson was out there for stretching okay well. That's good news on the field stretching so that's goodness we'll see if he takes part in practice. Today i was going to point out that if gibson couldn't go and that would be a disappointment and i know he fumbled and i know he had a couple of drop passes. I think there was a lot of positive from gibson on sunday that continues to sort of say to all of us. I would think that he's got some real ability to be a big time dynamic back But if he couldn't go thursday night it would be jarrett. Patterson i think that was one thing and i didn't mention this yesterday with cooley. I think one of the things. It was noticeable. Patterson had three carries and only two counted because one was a seven yard gain. That got called back but I think it's pretty apparent that that he's the backup to gibson. If gibson were to go down as the primary. I down back. When they're trying to run the football it would be. Jared patterson it would not be j. d. mckissick. You know the only three backs up and gibson mckissick and patterson Also i wanted to mention to all of you that said ultimately they invested ten million in the quarterback in thirty five million in curtis samuel and they didn't have either one of them for most of game one in won't have either one of them for several weeks and i don't know what the status of samuel is right now This continues to speak to how poor the training and the medical is in ashburn. A first of all fitzpatrick. I think was completely healthy before sunday. I do not know if they handled the curtis samuel injury in a in a row in the wrong way. I have no idea if they mishandled that. At all I it's a completely different staff than the one exert existed with trent williams and all the other issues that were going on none of those people are left including t right time. The team doctor Who who was the alex smith doctor. Yes she quit right so anyway Your thoughts on the game sunday. I have not heard them go. Well what really stuck out to me was The absence of Chase young name You know When they were calling out the various defensive place during the game now there were a lot of shakes young jerseys in the stands he has sold them a lot of jersey. Yeah okay but on the field there wasn't much Visibility of of number ninety nine unless he was getting manhandled by Sean slater The chargers tackle but I mean wouldn't you say that was a disappointing performance. Yeah i mean it's hard to it said this yesterday it's hard to really identify any positives from the defense in that game Somebody sent me this tweet. And i'm looking for right now. And i think i can find it here. your annual She and you really massacred the defense What about the twenty points and they actually only gave up thirteen. They held The chargers to two for six in the red zone The offense didn't score enough points. That's why they lost Just one of the dumb mistakes ever heard But i've heard it before in games like this before people that are just stuck on You know the the team only gave up twenty points in the defense only gave up thirteen in the offense. Only scored sixteen It's a it's a complementary game football is The chargers were two for six in the red zone. One of those red zone trips Daniel was a kneel down at the end of the game after their fifteenth. Play on the drive. That ran the final seven minutes of the clock out Another trip to the red zone ended With a field goal after keenan allen was opened by every bit of five to six yards on third and four inches flat out. Dropped a perfect throw from justin herbert That was one of the stops They also had a play. That was an incomplete pass. Call the fumble And you know and yes montana. Sweat made a nice play on that he did. He made a really nice play. Good pressure maybe. The best pressure of the day By washington but they owned washington's defense for the entire game. They made fourteen third down conversions on eighteen. Chances if you think the defense played well I don't i can't help you. It did not play well. it played horribly. There were a few individuals. I thought that stood out at times. I cam curl did A couple of times. I thought william jackson did i thought jon allen had a couple of plays that stood out in my mind but the defense is a whole was completely befuddled confused in didn't execute against a really good team. You know wisdom star players a clear stuttered quarterback to excellent receivers and a really good back and and clearly a revamped offensive line which includes their first round. Pick sean slater. Who had a great opening day. Washington's defense tommy per pro football focus. Take it for what it's worth. I'm produce the least amount of pass rush of any. Nfl team in week. One now part part of that is part of that. Is ball's coming out quickly. And it came out quickly and that was part of the chargers game plan. That's part of everybody's game plan this day. These you know it's it's the ball's coming out quickly but on a final drive on third and sixteen. The ball didn't come out quickly then and they didn't get anywhere near near justin. Herbert no it was a massacring of the defense that was totally legitimate. That team spent the entire day with the football in their hands on offense and much of the day converting third downs and in washington's red zone where they did make some mistakes not washington. Washington made a good play on the interception by william jackson. That's a good stop in the montas. Sweat pressure that force the incompletion that somehow got call the fumble. It's a good play. I'll give you that But kneel down fumble. That should have been incomplete. A dropped pass by keenan allen. You take those three out and your two for three on stops and you're now you're now you got one. Stop out of three in the red zone. They ran fifty five. Plays offensively eighty one for chargers. Yeah yes and it wasn't the time of possession. Thirty six to twenty three. It was a total aberration. The final score any anybody that watches even a small amount of football understood that most teams the way they played like the most teams that play like the chargers played and most teams that played like washington played. That score typically is going to be a whole lot to a little bit. That cooley said thirty five to ten yesterday's what it should have been It would be a whole lot to a little bit in most cases and it was lucas. It was fluke ish that it was there for the stealing. They had a chance to steal one. The chargers had six dropped passes officially six. But to that i remember roughing the passer calls against them..

We all know this is true. People can do more together than we can alone. Facebook groups harnessed the possibilities of communities connecting people to not only their friends but also their interests and passions facebook groups more together get started at facebook dot com slash groups honestly. We should talk about that. Because i know we're not used to being able to count on them so i got it. Listen i i- might. The parsons might is the real deal and administrators as someone who consistently continues. Well i sold. I don't now but like it was a very tough pill for me to swallow win. We didn't pick sean slater. It was like why. And i'm okay with saying that and you it sucked to watch. Jc horn it. I hated watching ser. Tan like go. We thought those were the guys that we were gonna end up with. I mean we talk to on my show. Starred i would day. We talked mcclay this past week in he was listening. Everyone knew that we were going for corners. So you know. We're not sad. It wasn't settling formica. But like it definitely wasn't originally the game plan to go for him but you know i'll be honest with you. I think. I he. Is he kind of i think i think mica wears a little bit of a chip on a shoulder. Even though we did draft him so high he still kind of understands that he wasn't the original choice from the team perspective and also the fan perspective in. He's he's out here like listen. I'm gonna prove it to you. I loved his quote last night when he talked about how. There was no excuses when he's excuses for the week and i i'm man i love that like i. He's he was angry in. I i appreciate that but on top of it. He didn't really have that much of a cause to be super himself a lot because he had a pretty darn good game. He really really did and i was really impressed. Like are run defense was was actually there. We were making hot. Boys plays like there was an actual defense on the field. And you know outside of anthony brown who was getting targeted merciless. Because that's what tom brady does. When he's a he's literally a surgeon outside of that like ifo pretty good about what was on that side of the ball. I don't want you to myself. But i was okay. Dan green icy you. Okay so i mean five takeaways. Nothing scott that. I feel like there are people. I saw at least on twitter That were like oh well a couple like gimmes. Whatever and i'm like last year we miss those right. You couldn't you couldn't throw the ball straight at one of our defenders in has like go for it. Perot gimme all that. Gimme whatever. I don't care. Yeah no. I'm so with you and like you know you've got you've got two interceptions digs nj. I mean again. Like i'm i'm digs almost guide to truly like he's i'm excited about him and also aid. I know too. You're the same person. I saw both tweeted that except for use of his name right. I didn't but sorry. I smelled his name wrong the other day and i got told so i was like oh yeah I was like in that moment. In time i was like i really need hard knocks to just continue through the first regular season game because we needed some aiden content in that moment in time we just did. I'm gonna go ahead and say it like that would have been so freaking cute to watch him celebrate his dad. I just feel like that's what we needed. But i'll all over it. Yeah i had. I was kind of wondering if you at that game Just considering you know maybe mama steph and then would have made it out because the other digs brothers. Not plant was not playing last night so yeah could have made it to both games this week. I'm telling you it could have been a thing. Yeah i mean. I know the cameras would have found interviews there so tract also. Did i see Did i see the did i see. Lv on special teams might making that a week. I'm not making i do. I think. I think i really did see him. Entrepot teams at some point. All i'm gonna say is that i feel like as creative as is kelly moore. Was i think that dan quinn is equally. Ready to be that crafty. I think bid. You're gonna see a lot of different looks. You know i think again. We talk a lot about mike. Parsons being able to pressure over the top you know from this side to. I do feel like tom brady halibut more time. That's the key to breaking down. Tom brady is pressuring him and not giving him as much time to do his. Tom brady things. I think we're gonna get a little bit better for doing that. But again like when you talk about having to rookie defenders who are on the line and i just i am. The bar was on the floor. It doesn't take it doesn't take much ready. Be happy with what on the field last night. And i truly feel like this defense is going to actually potentially at the very least if they continue playing like the last night and building upon that could end up middle of the pack. I really do. I mean i. I don't wanna be blowing things out of proportion but like if the cowboys can put together what they put on the field last night and do that consistently in that is no small. I understand that they they really can be upside. Is there and i feel really good about their chances at doing some big things Yeah so. I think that's all in all like i. I don't like to settle for moral victories. But i do feel like if i can take some little victories away it would be dak looking awesome. Truly truly looking awesome amari continuing to play at the high level that he does i. I really did feel like our defense showed up in had some things to say. I was happy with a great diversity of kellen moore and just you know i think in general. It was an all around solid solid game. Yeah i agree. My only my real one qualm was that. Gosh darn opie..

"Tomlin. I think that's a wise move. Well she'll in the story you wrote for the athletic. You actually made thirty two predictions now. We obviously don't have time to talk about all of them so dealer's choice on this last one. Give us one. We haven't talked about that. You feel compelled to share here. Well the team. I'm going all in on the los angeles chargers. I've got the chargers winning eleven games and making it to the second round of the playoffs. I just look at a team that could really be sort of this year's version of what the buffalo bills were last year. The team did that. Just makes that big leap and all of a sudden you're saying. Wow this team is set up. Well for the future i think. Justin herbert is fantastic. I don't think they were well coached at all last year. He was sort of making. These plays and performing at that level in spite of the coaching in my opinion in spite of the offensive line which was one of the worst in the nfl snap fit through his right purpose. Being chased throwing all the run touchdown wanna grab so. Now you look at it. They made a coaching change. They've got brandon staley ahead coach. We'll see how he performs. But i like what i hear from him in terms of. Hey we're going to build this offense around just in herber. They made big moves on the offensive line. They signed an all pro center. Inquiry lynn's li. They drafted left. Tackle in ray. Sean slater in the first round. So i'm really bullish on that offense and then defensively. They've just got to stay healthy. And i know chargers fans are sick of hearing that someone like me makes this case every august or september and then four weeks in. They've got the most injured most curse team in the nfl. I get that but if they can just keep derwin james the safety and joey bosa pass rusher healthy. Those two guys in my opinion are like legit defensive player of the year type candidates in so you add that with adding a defensive coach and brandon. Staley i think they've got a lot of things going in their favor and i really think they're going to have a good season prompting so much for sharing these predictions. I guess in a few months. We'll see how you did you. Don't bring me back to review these plays. We'll just move forward and make off season predictions or something. Next time you can read all thirty two. "Dax the window when everybody says the window closed in the window was closing because tony romo's window is closing decks window is at least another ten years so i don't look at that as being like what happens if zeke falls off and what happens if tyrant well you gotta find other guys like. Let's say for example. Let's say in this off season tyronn retired will then. You're probably taking like a person. You're probably draft sean slater. You're taking somebody in the draft that you know has to play the right away. But because tyronn had his surgery. Lyle head his they obviously saw enough there that hey these guys are able to play for a few more years offensive line is going to be addressed again and if you're a cowboys fan. That's concerned about that. I will say just look at their track record. I don't know anyway. Drafted offensive lineman better than them. And let's not act like they found him all at tyron smith and it's out semi zack. Martin was no guarantee lau councils guy that he had some luck involved. But that's the cowboys. Get because they have jerry jones and they have the star and the brand so you you get those opportunities but like that. But they've never been able to find guys connor williams counter mcgovern like it's not necessarily going to be three three four five potential ring of honor. Guys you might have to win with a lesser offensive line. But you can do that. As your quarterback continues to progress and get older and and his is becomes. More of a savvy veteran which is clearly where deck is now more so than before so for me personally when people talk about how how big how long the window is there and stuff like that it for me in the nfl. It's all about. It's all about your your your franchise quarterback. I don't even care about the coaches any of the other. Like tell me how long you're gonna have this franchise quarterback or and we'll find pieces to go around him. I mean the. The patriots did that with tom. Brady the packers are doing that right now. With aaron rodgers the saints. That would breeze. I mean generally speaking less. You're like one of those bottom teams like the lions with a matt. Stafford that you waste somebody like that. Generally speaking you know you're gonna if you're like the cowboys as long as you have their french you're gonna have other pieces to be able to make it run almost every year. Yeah i respected. So were your thoughts in terms of you. Know where they they had to make the roster cuts thirty. I didn't get down to the hippie three and whether any any surprise you in. I have to say I know on this podcast. Specifically we are at least happy. The new is going to be back on the practice squad. I you know. I had to throw out one of those names on twitter. And of course scott's health that because everyone assumes that i'm excited about him because of his talent level in that just shows they. Don't listen to this year podcast but i rarely way. What were you guys thinking. I mean it was there anything that stood out to you that you were just like. I was not expecting that there was a little bit more like black and white. like you. Just kinda saw coming begging. Oh i mean i is i think mine kinda revolves more around like why they chose certain guys for hard knocks. Instant like at all of them are on the practice squad when we could really be focusing. We could focused on like actual storylines on the team. But i digress are not getting a little disappointing. I have to admit. I just finished watching this week so i was like. Yeah i got. I got conspiracy theories about that but go. Oh you do. We need to hear. Don't i wanna conspiracy theory now actually. Yeah let's hear that real quick. We're gonna take a side bar. I need outside martin. I literally have been saying Also why are we not getting more dan quinn. I know they can make their decisions. I know in the cupboard list but still like either way. Let's hear. I mean. I don't even even call conspiracy like there's reasons why i believe. This is true. I believe they're getting really good stuff. But then it goes through an editing process. That includes the cowboys i mean. I'll just give you give you one example that this told this spoke volumes to me. John fossil we ask him about at the very end of his press conference about talking about the vasectomy thing. Yeah and he specifically said they came back him multiple times. Are you sure we use it. We need to say sure we can use this then rich del ripple came back to him and ask them. Hey are you sure this several days so clearly. It's going through a very thorough process. Where if they're asking john fossil about that undis- dissect these i find it hard to believe that they're ask ask mike mccarthy over and over again like hey you know do. Are you sure you want this in here. Let's go over this one more time. Mike mccarthy was not happy about in that first episode about that conversation in there were him. And talking about zeke. And i'll be honest with you. It was out of all of the first four episodes. That's the part surprised me the most and it's and if there's anything even in the running with that it's the daqian mike dopp and talking about. How can we swear on here. No yes okay. Yeah dax talking about the like you know then down. Yeah like all that. And he's dropping all those f. bombs and things like that like i don't want anymore that i thought the first episode had a lot of that. I think that after mike mccarthy and others saw that they were like all right we're gonna dow back and so just instead of when you watch hard knocks instead of thinking all right forty eight to fifty two minutes of the absolute best stuff that got this week. I think it is more of okay. They they have five hours of great stuff and it gets whittled down to like forty eight minutes of stuff. That like the cowboys are like okay. Fine you can use stuff like that. I mean there's a reason why not just this year last year with the rams and the chargers wise been getting more and more boring probably part of the agreement. They're doing with these teams by doing it is. Hey you'll have even more say in the editing process that that was not the case. I just do not believe that. That was the case with the all or nothing series when they follow the cowboys around. That thing was twenty seventeen. There was so much good stuff behind the scenes in the meeting..

"Understand what the dolphins are doing. I don't know. I got. I mean with especially with joe burrow had peninsula there which we all i thought that they were going to pick out because a different tact him. Protecting your outfit as exactly. It looks like to them. they went with. What was the best owner board. You about sean. Slater could have possibly gone to miami in terms of protecting the quarterback or you could have had the two The two corners in jc horner patrick's tan. You could had those available but they probably just start. Hey these are the best players on our board and we just need more offensive power now from my old man grumble of the day. I'm a little annoyed at the denver broncos because me and my dallas cowboys morning patrick certain passer tan sean slater or if pits lid which nobody thought was going to happen number ten. The denver broncos ended up taking patch Patrick tan right before we did. We need the quarterback help. Obviously we do need some linebacker hope so we went back and traded down with the philadelphia eagles our nemesis. They went and picked up devante smith. But i'm a little aggravated that. The denver broncos can monitor your own business and leave pastor tend to fall down one. More slots are gonna pick up by cornerback. So now we've got to alabama quarterback air cornerbacks In trayvon digs and passer tan. Go ahead and stop them receive with fourth about. I'm okay. i thought it was a little rich for us to go ahead and pick up. Michael parsons but at least we traded down. We picked up an additional third round. Pick and now. We've got a superstar linebacker. I'm a little weary that he sat out last year but a covert has got a young child. There were some issues some character issues that we're talking about but i think i would be an excellent pick up on our defense i'm okay with it In that we move down and picked up an additional pick. But i still think it was a little bit rich but you know denver. I'm a little bit a little bit angry at you guys. Don't be angry though i i. I'll tell you this visitors. His own take down. I think that the cornerbacks in the top ten you clearly don't watching a football because even the greatest cornerbacks they don't affect the game like that. You need more than just one quarterback on your defense. You need way more than that. So if you're picking the top ten that tells me that your team has problems. So if you're if you're going to pick a cornerback and you're picking the top ten tells me you don't understand the value on the football team. There are certain impact positions that have very great value. If you have a great quarterback think about non nominee awesome. Wildwood the raiders. He shut down one side of the field and it didn't matter because team was horrible. So if you're picking top ten. You're taking a cornerback out. Get it man. i just don't get it. I'm an agreement with you but when you talk about because it for me. It's you go with pass rush first and then second impact players exactly you buddies but so why would you take a cornerback in the top ten unless you defense already. Good right if you have a good defense already. Then you take a quarterback but if you're picking your evens we know your team's not good you're picking the top tendon in this in this draft. You didn't have those impact players. You didn't have the impact of tackle. You didn't have that pass rush. There was no pass rusher in this draft that warranted being even picked up in the first round and it wasn't a trade back and get. Do you collect more picks. You don't take a quarterback in the first ten picks of your top if you're picking a top ten teams already boo. Okay good for you. Have a good cornerback. Now what about the rest of your defense was very true but now if that quarterback if that cornerback is rated on your board at their quarterback is rated higher than any office of play that you have at that point in time then you go. Cornerback you can afford you know you can find. Because here's a thing you can find linebackers all over the draft. You can find defensive tackles at least in that first. Second you'd be lucky to find some in the third the third round so you could find one of those positions in the second round but in the nfl picking a quarterback in the for cornerback in the first round. You're going to be hard pressed to have successful cornerback. In the second third even later rounds. That's very rare. So you've gotta cornerback. Disagree that i disagree with that. I do. I mean you look at it team like the bucks who just won the won the super bowl. That's how you build a man you can have a. I'm not saying you don't pick players in the secondary but not in the top ten because it doesn't do anything for you it doesn't could you teams already not good. One of these ever say is something hired me they need. Hire me because some these. Gm don't watch football. Why would you do that to your team. I just it blows my mind. How many these teens pick up these picks and it just doesn't make sense. Your team is boo boo. You don't need a quarterback right now trade back. Do whatever you gotta do but this cornerback will not help you by the time they actually get to the point where the elite you're gonna overpay them then back.

Mike Tannenbaum to talk about tonight's NFL draft and Everything that could happen your calls between now and then let's get his many and as we possibly can cause a lot of fans want to talk about the trap tonight goes without saying, Let's go to I think Cole in North Carolina. Has been waiting. He joins us next year on ESPN radio call. This team a call. I just wanted to talk about the Panthers will quick. Let's say they got Mac Jones as their guy at Number eight and the Niners taken the three. What do the Panthers do that do? They take the best player available. Where did they go with another quarterback like Fields or Lance? Six technical. All right. I appreciate it. I don't think the Panthers were taking a quarterback. I've heard that theory floated. I think they traded for Sam Darnel because they think Sam Donald can still do this. So unless they've got Zach Wilson drop all the way to him and ate and the Jets shocked the world and they've got him is like the first or second player on their board. My personal opinion is. I think they traded for Sam Donald's because they're not expecting any of the quarterbacks that they think that highly of to get all the way to eight. And they knew they needed a solution a quarterback and they believe in Sam, so I think they're going to do one of two things. I think they're gonna take the best player available. That's not a quarterback or if a couple of those guys slide they could be in the catbird seat. If you're Carolina, you've got your quarterback box checked with Sam. Donald and all of a sudden, Justin Fields and Trey lands are both on the board of Aid. Your phone will ring someone is going to call you to try to move up. Will they be able to give you enough to make it worth your while? Or could you take pen a soul if he's still there, or one of the wide receivers give Sam Donald another weapon with Sean Slater, maybe to give him a book and tackle. There's a lot of ways the Carolina could go, but I love where they're sitting at eight. I think Carolina and Detroit, both If they believe the quarterbacks. They both currently have have enough gas left in the tank. But they don't need to take one of those guys. They could mortgage, either the seventh pick of the eighth pick dropped back, get a lot more for those picks. Then maybe they would normally even be worth because one of those quarterback needy teams might come up and over pay for Lance for a Justin Fields or whoever or even Mac Jones. If the Niners don't go with Mac Jones of three. Let's go to Gerard in Connecticut, who joins us next here on ESPN Radio Bob in for Greeny, Dr. Head up as going off, displace lions fan out here in Connecticut. I'm do we take say somebody does offers a king's ransom to jump up to seven if fur trader Justin if they're available, or do we need like the quickie pay or the kid from Northwestern, you're not doing anything quite like that. I don't think it's in quick pace seventh. I don't think any of the defense of players warrant that. But today school is there. Do you go wrong, like, how do you go wrong with you? They're dropping back and getting someone to over pay to go to seven to get a quarterback. If you decide you don't need one, or you get the best offensive lineman in the draft. To me. It's a win win. I don't know how you would criticize either of those decisions. So again. Detroit Carolina right in front of Denver. They're a couple of quarterback still on the board. Denver's got their pick of the litter. I think they'll take one. I would think they would take Trey lands, maybe even Justin Fields. But I think the teams that are at seven and eight, you know, I mean, I I don't see the Bangles or dolphins trading out. They could It would take a lot to get up to five or six. You know, there's a lot that could happen. Obviously, this all begins with what San Francisco doesn't three. It's going to James in New York. He joins us next year on ESPN Radio bobble shoes him in for Greeny Day, James Mr matures and how you doing Good. Always good to hear your boys doing the excellent job stepping in for Greeny. I won't want to hear anybody else Besides, you appreciate it. Thank you as well. I was thinking about the Jets and their draft that we know where they're going with number one, but Robert said he has not seen you know any G gets to see the staff. He's not been there yet, but CJ Mosley is almost like a draft pick for him. He's coming back onto the field. It was injured a couple of years. I think you've got two years left on his deal. Does he add or detract? They looked for him in trade bait today. I think he's an incredible player. Yeah, they can't trade him. They can't trade him means the $17 million player wasn't played in two years. You know, he has to play for them. There's no way they're moving that contract. So do I think he can add to this defense? Yeah, I mean, I definitely think I'll be very curious to see what he looks like. After a couple of years of not playing. You got hurt two years ago and barely played the whole season and last year opted out. So you're talking about God has a plate in two years, making $17 million of linebacker. He's not getting traded. You kid is no market for that. But if he is hungry and ready to come back and in shape, Yeah, you could definitely had a lot to their defense. Mike Tannenbaum his thoughts.

"The NFL draft just a couple of days away. And while we still don't fully know where the Broncos they're going to go with the number nine pick, or even if they'll be picking there On Thursday, but we do have opinions on where they should go. And my next guest has based his opinions around great investigative journalism. He is the Broncos beat writer For the Gazette. He is George story A and he joins me now, George. Great to have you back on. Thanks for having me Ryan. This is a neck, citing weak It absolutely is, And there's a lot of intrigue really picks three through God. 15. Maybe this is a really interesting draft. Where? Let me ask you this general question out of the gate. The ideal scenario for the Denver Broncos Thursday night based on what you've been able to gather would be what Justin Fields following tonight. I think that has to be, um, the scenario that if you're a Broncos fan, you're hoping it And from all indications, it seems like there's a very Is it possibility that could happen now? You know, I think that New England Washington, maybe Chicago. There's a few teams that might be wanting to trade up to make sure that doesn't happen. But if you're talking perfect world perfect scenario. I think it has to be Justin Fields falling to the Broncos at nine. I think that is number one. Their guy in terms of quarterbacks that You know, if you look at Justin Fields trained Lance and Mack Jones, the three that will most likely be available to them Field is their guy. Um, And if he can, if he could fall tonight, we don't have to give anything up to get him. I think That would be a perfect scenario you could bring him in. He's a guy that I think could start from day one on make this team really, really good. So, um I would say fields drop in tonight is the perfect scenario. The not as perfect scenario, but still pretty good scenario would be the Bronco's moving up. How many spots to grab Justin Fields? You know, I think when you when you talk about moving up, I don't think it's going to be with Atlanta. I think obviously, a lot of that will have to do with who San Francisco take so I think they're gonna end up taking that. Jones after listening to Kyle Shanahan talk yesterday. You know, I think Atlanta I think Atlanta is going to be content with taking a guy like Kyle Kyle pits, which content I mean, they should be super excited. That guy's phenomenal may be the best player in the draft. Besides Trevor Laurence And then I think you look at Cincinnati. They're gonna stay put. You know, I think that they might go after either, you know, Jamaar Chase or pity stool. Um and then you look at Miami and it would make a lot of sense for Miami to move back to nine. They can still get a valuable player at nine. You know, you would think they're going to go off and maybe a Jalen Waddle or Devante Smith, Or maybe they go. Sean Slater on day could get any of those guys. Most likely they moved back to nine or at least one of those three guys that they moved back to nine on then the Broncos. I mean, I don't think you'd have to give up too much. T get up to sick. I think they could maybe give up maybe just their second rounder this year to get up to sick and you also look at the relationship there. Um, you know George Payton worked in Miami. He worked very closely with Chris career now the GM at Miami. They're very close friends with Peyton even said last week. That the two spoke ahead of the draft, and he didn't you know? You know, give Ah clear answer on what about? I don't know if it was about trading up to six, but you look at all the cards there, you would think would be six. I think you can also trade up even the seven or human. Eight. If Carolina doesn't want to take a quarterback, but I would look in that 6 to 8 range as a place that they could move up and I'm about to put together my last mock draft on day. I'll just go ahead and give away what I'm going to do in the first round. And that is, I think the Broncos Are going to move up to six and that's not based off of any intel. I just think that would be the smart move for them. Move up to six. If Justin Fields there on take your future quarterback. Do they not like Mac Jones. I don't think that they don't like Mack Jones. I think they don't want Mac Jones in the top 10 on. I think that I don't think they're alone in that assessment. I think there's a lot of teams that would probably agree. With that assessment. Now, if it Denver moves back, let's say Mack Jones drops out of the top in and Denver moves back, Tonto. I don't know, Say 15 16, you know in that 15 to 20 range, maybe even later and Mac is still there. I wouldn't rule it off the table that they take someone like that because I think that's more of where his values that It's taking someone like that somewhere in the team. George Story of the gives that my guest, the top priority for the Broncos non quarterback is is what or whom Well, I think it's I think it's zoom right? Because I think that, um Well, I guess I guess you could also say what right? I mean, that's that's a difficult question. Um, but but I think when you look at it when you sit that nine, it's about who you're going to get at nine, right? It's not about what you're gonna get it. Nine. I think when you when you look at it this maybe five players that I would I would say that they're gonna draft in the first round. I think it's gonna be Justin Field train land. Michael Parsons, and he's maybe fit in this list were Sean Slater, and then I believe the kid from Notre Dame whose name I would watch if I tried to say it full length J. Okay. The outside linebacker from from Notre Dame. I had to guess it's gonna be one of those five guys, and I think all five of those guys fit the whom Bill rightly, and they also fit the what Cause. I think you look at the positions that they need. I think they need a quarterback. Obviously, whether it's through the draft or they go get a veteran quarterback, which there aren't many out there right now. So you think they have to draft one? And then they have to get a linebacker, either. I think in the 1st 2nd 3rd round on def They don't get one in the first. I think they're going to do it in the second with maybe a barren browning out of Ohio State, and then I think they need to shore up that offensive line and if they stay put at nine. I think we're Sean Slater is a real good fit for them because he can play Ah, lot of different positions you can come in and play that right tackle spot. Two on James is not back that Keegan or if they don't feel comfortable with him. If Garrett Bolles goes down, I think they would feel really comfortable with sliding Slater over there, at least for the season. You know, he can also move in and play guard. So Um, you know, I think you look at those three positions and it fits the what And I think all five of those players kind of fit the Hutu. What are Michael Parsons off the field issues? He was in high school. He allegedly, um, on both of these interests. Instances hey! Transferred school in high schools for inciting Riot on then in college. He got in a fight with a teammate and allegedly, I think choked the teammate and then the teammate ended up reporting. It's ESPN. On that wasn't 2018. I believe. And do you have you gotten any sense in talking to anyone and how much that I mean? You haven't fifth and there was a time right? George work. Michael Parsons was probably Number one for the non quarterback crowd, right? It seems like it is affecting him. Yeah, well, and I think when you look at it, there's this is a really good linebacker class. In my opinion, I think you can get a really quality linebacker in the late first round. Uh, early second round. So that's why I lean towards. They're not going to take Michael Parsons because George Payton also strikes me from everybody I've talked to in the stories I've written. Everybody talks about how he's much of Ah, character off the field guy as he is How good you are on the field on, so I think that's going to play a big factor and who they take. And so when you look at Michael Parsons versus the kids from Notre Dame, Um, of course. Michael Parsons is maybe the most gifted athletic guy in the entire draft. But there's really not that big of a drop off. On him and the kid from Notre Dame, and you even look at the guys that you could maybe get in the second round. Maybe a German Davis from Kentucky or like I, said Barrett Browning from Ohio State. They're still not a huge drop off. Between them and Parsons. And so for me, if I'm if I'm gonna try and take a linebacker and I moved back in the draft, I'm taking one of those guys that don't have those off the field issues and are still quality player that could come in and help you from day one..

"Devante smith to the giants at eleven. Jamie is that a good landing spot for a wide receiver. Would you wanna see devante smith or one of those big three go to the giants. I mean it's not going to be great for what his rookie production probably is. But you talking about shepherd and darius slayton slayton is the one that's going to be the odd man out shepherd. I believe on the last year of his deal. And so you know daniel jones is the guy that you know you clearly hold them to be the most giants fans help to be a positive ones. Then you're doing what you should do to. A young quarterback is surrounding with talent. And so you you bring in kenny. Golladay you draft devante smith. You still have shepherd slayton for this year. That's as good as any team will roll out there. If the monty smith is the player that he wasn't college clearly so it's not my favorite that landing spot for him. But it's a spot that i think by your to. He can flourish as the type of fantasy receiver that we love. Maybe by your three. He's a star. You know so That all depends on how good daniel jones is what the giants coaching staff looks. Like by them all right and then this picks i skipped between waddell at seven and smith at eleven. You have justin fields. Going as to the panthers. Sean slater the offensive. Lineman add north western. Do you think he's a tackle or guard. Talked to teams to think. He's tackled talking to think he's a guard. I think he can play either place in hell right away. So the broncos who knows what. The broncos are going to talk about the quarterback but if you're through lock you might as well protect them or teddy bridgewater. Whoever it is. And i think we're sean slater gives you that our civility. And then you have trae lance going. I j. i think they should take a quarterback. I just don't think drew lock is the answer. It's kind of weird. Say that it's like how can i say. The giants shouldn't take a quarterback with broncos. Should because in this scenario all five quarterbacks are off the board by the time the giants pick. Where ryan's mock you still have. Trae lands on the board for the broncos at nine. What would you do if you were the broncos at nine. I mean. I'm taking a quarterback. I i just think he. You gotta give drew. Lock some pressure to prove that he's the guy and if he excels you played out and see how it all works out but if trae lance is sitting there and on denver. I have a hard time passing. Mob justice. Field the sitting there. That's a no-brainer But like i said. I think denver is going to be aggressive and if you know it is matt jones at three and you still have justin field in trae lands on the board four five six you know. I think those are our prime spots for denver to jump a few spots. It's gonna cost them their first probably their second but Not mortgaging the future. Too much know you gotten out and you can get one of those guys. That's a great france. That's a great roster right now. The offensive line is in good shape through receiving core is in good shape defense rebuilt..

"Slater at eleven this pick for the new york giants. The giants have saquon barkley returning. They need to solidify that offensive line and year. Daniel jones more weapons. This is about attitude. And i love the attitude that he coached. Show is putting down for the new york giants with this pig. A little bit more help this giant football to would not be waiting on the last day for another team to lose to get in the playoffs. They will make a huge step full towards make big ten in the house. Now ben stevens. The host of locked on big ten to break down the player and person that is sean slater from northwestern our i'm ben stevens from the locked on big ten podcast despite opting out of the twenty twenty big ten football season northwestern's sean slater is still one of the top offensive line prospects in the entire 2021 nfl draft one of the main reasons for that the versatility slater presents to play multiple positions along the offensive line in the nfl. He played mostly tackle during his time in college in evanston illinois for the northwestern wildcats but can play multiple spots along the offensive line functional athletic. He has very sound fundamentals. And because of that and the flexibility he presents at whatever position he might be slotted in the national football league. I believe sean slater will be day one star in the nfl who will have a long and successful nfl career. And benjamin select back with you again to recap takes ten and eleven. Where the dallas cowboys patrick's your tan in the new york giants. Ray sean slater ben ten with dallas. Faster me we. We've talked about this. A lot on our podcast. This feels like the obvious pick. And so obviously a couple of words about that. But i really want the ratio on slater with giants. Yeah right patrick. Shoot to the cowboys is very chaki. I think the jc hall and the coronado south carolina's also a conversation here. But they're in desperate need of a potential corner one. He has that profile and in this case with jc horn. Going one. big ahead all right. This is probably the guy we were gonna take anyways. He's a great scheme fit for dan. Quinn cover three system. Send it home. Yeah no i. I agree with you and then if we get to eleven with the new york giants we often again have them going playmaker. Devante smith jalen. Waddell got edge. Rusher sometimes you get a little spicy jail. The film's quickly. Pay you laurie. But racial slater. If they're sticking here at number eleven. I feel like this could be a great pick for this is an offensive line that still needs their upgrades and when it comes to making this team exactly what it needs to be to properly does judge daniel jones in in what is going to be a very crucial. Your forum offensive line is keeping him upright two major part of the job that i feel like. We often overlooked so kevin zeitler on his way out youth. Plug sean slater. Right in there. Maybe he's got a future at offensive tackle. Whatever it is gives. The giants a lot of our stability is also definitely feels like a dave gettleman kind of picks. So totally see happened. Okay big day to hear some surprises. And i think setting up some more fireworks for day three of this ultimate mock draft matt and the philadelphia eagles next on the clock tomorrow with pick twelve but six through eleven here. Let's go back over it really quick. And we think the winners and losers of day to in this mock. The miami dolphins going with jalen waddell penny. Soule seven to the detroit lions trae lance pick eight to the carolina. Panthers quarterback four off the board jesse horn corner. Surprisingly to the denver broncos at nine back to back corners the patch ser tan going to ten and the dallas cowboys. And sean slater offense lineman from northwestern to the new york giants at eleven. We're the big winners and losers in this. Will i think denver could be a loser. Just watching trae lance almost fall to them. You know one pick away from right in of them. They could grab them. I think that's things a little bit. But they got a good player force. And then i think. Three quarterbacks are distinct winners talked about daniel jones. I think he's a winner of this draft as well as the off season. You know barkley return all day. I mean they are. It's put up or shut up. Time for jones. Point to getting reunited with waddell is a winner for him to another threat. But how about your golf. You know not only. Did they not take a quarterback but they got him protection which she desperately need the two teams that not only does young quarterback in an offensive lineman but they still get stay the quarterback of that team for a while and are the no doubt starters for one more season to you know how fleet that can be in the nfl. We'll find out in the twenty twenty two ultimate mock draft. Those quarterbacks are getting replaced. But not yet. For jared goff and daniel jones in. They deserve their shot there so they offer up front to help them out Yeah i come back to the broncos could they had traded up a little bit to go get a high upside passer like trae lance because i think you and i both agree that we are not sold on. Drew lock is that quarterback were denver. I'm not at all sold on. Drew lock and all of a sudden if you don't get that that quarterback in the draft lands somebody along those lines calling carolina probably for teddy bridgewater which i'm not sure it's much better. You know you get very conservative than on offense. So i i would really like to see denver land what i consider one of the top four quarterbacks i mean i don't think jones is a particular fit there but that's not gonna be easy to pull off and how about that. How carolina playing the draft game spending resources. On sam darnold might save them from spending extra resources on the quarterback. They didn't have to spend on so they could hold their water. Stay back at eight and draft a quarterback there and then maybe even force a team to have anita quarterback to come talk to them about teddy bridgewater. So win win. Win all around there. If you're carolina does fall this way right. I mean you may have fixed your quarterback problem in a big way without really spending all that much over the course of two drafts and get something probably for bridgewater maybe not a ton and the analytics folks will tell you drafting a quarterbacks and never a bad idea i mean it's not an asset that appreciates still one quarterback that's been talked about as a top ten potential hick in mack. Jones still available is heisman trophy. Winning wide receiver devante smith still out there for potentially the philadelphia eagles at twelve or beyond and every defensive lineman in this draft is still on the board as we approach hick twelve tomorrow. I can't wait to see who the pixar we'll be back with odyssey experts and the rest of the crew from the locked on podcast network on three of the ultimate box wrapped. Two thousand twenty..

"The cowboys. Here at picton. Maybe see grades being higher on hornets retain but boy certaines a safe prospect. You often see him mocked as you mentioned and maybe those first nine different guys off the board. But he's still sitting there in the dark horse for me though is rashawn slater because you look at jerry jones's career. He invests in offensive linemen. How long has tyron smith going to be around. Slater be guard in the meantime. I mean he likes having the best offensive line in the league. So which work needs to be done on the defensive side of the ball right dako scott until the passing game the weapons. That dallas cowboys. Have i got to believe. There's a defensive player coming here. Let's see if they stayed shock with the selection. Marcus and landed of locked on cowboys with the tenth pick in the ultimate mock draft. I am marcus mosier. Joined by land are the host of the lockdown kabyles podcast and with the tenth pick in the two thousand twenty one. Nfl draft the dallas cowboys. Select patrick santan. Junior cornerback alabama. Yeah it was. This is a pick that we've had written in pencil since october. It's not surprised especially once. Jay z horne came off the board made the pick really easy cowboys. Pick another a starter that go up so trayvon digs and hopefully a long-term starter for the next ten years. Yeah day one starter for the dallas cowboys. I think he's very similar to like a marlin free coming out of alabama a few years ago a perfect fit of scheme in the dallas cowboys. And now we turn our attention to the second round where the cowboys potentially trying to trade up to get back into the first shot to add some more premier defensive talent and it was the alabama corner. Patrick attend the second. We saw his father playing the league. So well for so long. Seemed like a second version of patrick's ser tan was destined to be a top ten pick and he does sneak into the top ten here in our ultimate mock draft. Yeah and kind of a tricky as you mentioned but a high quality player. I mean exactly what they need. This defense does need a lot. It's lacking talent and also just made a lot of mental errors and mistakes last year. You would think they would that some that the latter we get cleaned up a little bit too. I'm excited with our odyssey experts. I love this. We've got the playmaker today. Michael joining this. This is pretty cool. It's pretty cool hall of fame. Big time awesome receiver. That was a big of growing up. Get get his take on this. That's awesome. Let's go to michael irvin and his thoughts on his dallas cowboys selection patrick's ten number ten. This is a great pickup for the dallas cowboys. Now they compeer patrick's thirteen the second. We're trayvon deeds on the corner at at have rate corners for long john. I asked patrick's attend about this on my podcast. He says they have had conversations about being in the corner for the dallas cowboys was decent for years to come him in trayvon. Let me tell you folks. The dallas cowboys need a lot of help on defense. It is always easier to find the guy that get to the passer than it is to find the guy that can break up the past we could find. Is you get to. The quarterback is hard to find. Is that could cover the wide receivers pick for the dallas comes now with another breakdown of an alabama prospect this time patrick's for ten luke robinson of locked on obama with his thoughts on certaines career with the crimson tide. Patrick certain from the university of alabama. Of course the son of a patrick certain senior and he's a great great player. He's going to be a shutdown corner in the nfl for a long time to come and he's just the kind of guy that just doesn't give up any kitchen he he doesn't take any plays off. Either that's what's so interesting about him. I think defensive backs can get bored when player when quarterbacks decide not to throw in their direction ser tan just always was ready whenever somebody did have the cojones to throw it in his direction. It seemed like something good happen. In terms of he would have a pick six. Now he did get beat for a touchdown against florida in the sec championship game but it was just a perfect pass and a great play by the receiver and sometimes The receivers just gonna make a good play too but those those kind of moments were far and few between when you're talking about a defender the caliber patrick ser tan. He's gonna having least that the kind of career his father had. I eventually believe he will surpass a his father in terms of nfl rates. Let's finish up day. Two of our ultimate mock draft matt with the new york giants who are standing by with the eleventh pick in this draft patricia train. The host of locked on giants has some decisions to make the you go wide receiver. Do you go offensive line. I mean it's probably going to be really hard to pass on. Somebody like devante smith here but they did work in free agency at wide receiver. It would seem that the need there is gone. But you can always help out your your young quarterbacks if daniel jones is indeed their guy mac jones is still out there. I don't know if you up on jones's at quarterback would russian dc giants going here pick eleven devante. Smith is probably the highest graded player by most. That are still out there. Sean slater would certainly feel a need. Though i mean they went tackle the first round last year slater could be a tackle or guard. Frankly slater might be their best offensive lineman the second he put on blue but we also know this team needs edge pass rush and they always covid big guys you know. I mean going back to the parcels days. I mean this organization love bringing big people. Would they love a russo. Were a pay or somebody like that. I mean i think that's not off the board for that. Let's find out who. Patricia selects for the new york giants at eleven the host of locked on giants with the selection. What's good giant fans. Patricia trainer host of the lockdown giants podcast and with the number eleven. Pick in the nfl. Draft i have the new york. Giants letting northwestern offense of lyman rashaan slater now. This was a tough one here. I really wanted to trade down in the strath. I really wanted to draw from number eleven down to maybe around number twenty. didn't get any offers. And the reason why i wanted to trade down was because kyle pits off the board mart chase off the board jalen. Waddell was off the board so three players that i maybe would have considered at number eleven. Had they been there all god so that said i look at the giants offensive line. Didn't really add too much to the offensive line in free agency. Just some really players. But i'm looking ahead. And in were sean slater. They have a guy who can play both left. Tackle and right tackle predominantly a right tackle. But he's also projected to play inside it right guard now. Obviously if you get offensive lineman at number one. The idea is to get them in there and have them start from day one. If at all possible. I do think that if the giants go with sean slater that is. It's certainly a possibility. And you know. I could have picked. Mica parsons penn. State at that spot. I do believe the giants will be able to get it edge rusher in the second round of the draft. There's a couple of guys. I'm bali that they might be able to fit there so again my pick for the giants at number eleven with sean slater northwestern offensive linemen and it is the offensive. Lineman rashawn slater out of northwestern. The selection number eleven by patricia for the new york giants. And you know kind of need eats value here. I think what this election you mentioned. How the new york giants. They love big people so absolutely. I could see this being the pick. Here at eleven for the giants. That's what i would have done as well with all respect. Devante smith that you just signed golladay munich. Daniel jones life is easiest possible saquon. Barkley coming back i mean. How many times has he been. Hit behind the line of scrimmage in his career as well slater's a great player. And there's gonna be some spot for this for him hopefully for a very long time on big blue's offense you know who played against the new york giants quite a bit in his career. Is michael irvin. We just heard from him talking about the dallas cowboys pick. Let's go back to the playmaker on the giant selection of.

"And the draft show. So you've got a lot going on man. How are you doing home? I'm good. Like you said prior to us actually getting on the call. I mean it's it's uh, it's that time of year trying to stay busy. That's the biggest and there's really no shortage of suggest busy up until about April 29th in draft and then you get through the draft and then it's like a little bit of coasting after that. So yeah, it continues to ramp up until that point. It's crazy that we're just about four days away. It's it feels like it's coming up quicker than you think. So in in you're a big part of what I think is the best coverage of the NFL draft. You can get back the draft show. So how much what is it been on now for a month at this point a month-and-a-half? So so how much has your opinion of what the Cowboys should do with the 10th pick change that month? It's changed quite a bit. And the thing is is it's actually now that I'm thinking about it. It's been more than a month. We started it up in December. Wow, cuz because the Cowboys at 3 and 9 whenever they were 3 and 9. So we've been at it so over there be December January February March. So this is month for now of the trial two episodes a week. Here. So Thursday, it's funny how much it has shifted. I didn't think it would I thought back in December that the Cowboys were going to pick it stopped in corner. And that was it. I thought maybe a linebacker maybe Micah Parsons in that category. I don't think he's even a part of the conversation now, both of those Corners are still a part of the conversation, but I've now shifted into the thinking that I think about an offensive tackle, especially a guy like with Sean Slater should be in that conversation or maybe even a Kyle pits and it honestly makes my stomach churn thinking about taking an office job. Player because of how many bowls this Cowboys defense has but really when you look at the investment they've made on offense. It's that's kind of where you need to lie. I think whenever it comes to this draft class specifically because there's not that top-five player that's going to fall to you that's on the defensive side of the football most of those top talents in this class line on the offensive side of the ball and I think you have enough depth in this graph be able to pick up some defensive starters later on Mancow pets is an absolute stud and I was full-on team City lamb last year, but it just seems like it just see I can't do pets can they can they're really new bits. They can they can totally do it, but I'm going to.

"And he didn't have to overcome the stuff that still girl had to do hide the flaws that burro had to hide in doing the favor now, like he's busting his tail trying to get back from that FTL and C L just lasting nasty annually. If he's back week one. This offense just needs to be much much improved in the other reason why I would improve the offense. Whether it's it's great fans happy or not. They brought back Zach Taylor. Why exactly? They could hide in 2019, because he's an all sense of mind because they think that he could be you know, Sean, with Vince to point over the next young hot offense of coordinated that contrast form. The offense will What's the one thing that over the past two years, Zach Taylor had to try to scheme around overcome all sense of line and lack of weapons. Both years. It wasn't quarterback Andy Dalton's a solid quarterback. Over. Oh, even better than Andy. Don't know They're working right? It's He felt the trenches. Give him the weapons, and we thought they had enough weapons. Obviously, that wasn't the case last year 2020 100 you want to say last year? Not last season and it it's something they need to address, so they have a draft picks. We're gonna probably have after everything settles down, and we don't know what the cap is between 50 and $60 Million and Cap space, assuming they don't keep green and then you walked from Athens and a couple other veterans. They have the resource is and I would really like to see them do everything they can to make Joe Burrows life easier next season. No doubt And you do that, Also with with strong running game best defense is an offense that can control the clock and keep the defense sipping Gatorade on the sideline, you know, And but anyway, James were pain with no oak. Combine this year, the league converges on You know the Senior Bowl, making that almost like a mini combine down in Mobile, Alabama. And so that was critical this past week, no doubt. Itwas and it's crazy because the Bengals coach it last year, right and it was, it was critical in their evaluation process and five of their seven draft picks. We're at the Senior Bowl, and I got to know them there, including all three of their linebackers that they drafted last year and a little bit cooler, just eastern market early this year. It might even be more critical right because they don't have the combine. And a lot of this stuff that they did is going to be virtually My guys whacked out 2020 that they're gonna be evaluating specifically with the fifth pick. Think about it in a school or Sean Slater. The two top tackles, either one played in 2020. Either. Did you March 8? So evaluating those guys? It's tough, and obviously none of them were at the funeral. But getting to talk to some of these guys that were at the Senior Bowl on some of them worked out. I think that's huge being able to perfect with Devante Smith, right of Alabama, and and all these, you know other guys, I mean, really, I look at the Senior Bowl chick, and there were Ah lot of guards that I think stood out from tackles. It is well in, you'll look at the Bangles and where they need to address. Their issues wrong, that there's your offensive line help, potentially and then on defense. Same thing that there was a match players that I think could be there in the 2nd 3rd 4th grounds that they got the look at up close and personal defensive tackles as well. So I think there were Um, it is many quality prospects that they got a first hand. Look at that also addresses a weakness that could be there in the area of the draft that they're gonna be in over the past week. So I think was really serviceable little Mobile for the bangle that they're trying to evaluate separate these prospects, No doubt, and, uh, you know a lot of virtual interviews, of course and Man. It makes it critical. The eye in the sky don't lie studying a lot of film on these guys from the last time they played Yeah, absolutely in And so That's the thing with this offseason chick is you have you're missing an entire season of film on tool listening entire season of film on this guy Like two marches. You dominated the SEC. At 19 years old, but he hasn't played me here. Yeah, and in the same thing with a lot of these guys, and so that part of it matters too. And so the guys that were able to participate in practice specifically Practice is probably more important. I would say that the games because you can see other guys react the coaching and you could see how they lot struggles or dropping a pass and practice. You know all the little things that you don't get this season game. I think that those are the There's some critical points in critical things that they were probably evaluating over the past week. You know, with the draft and free agency. I don't think any team is far away from Getting back to the playoffs. And and to me that includes the Bangles. There's no doubt you, you improve this offense and really both sides of the football. God, The possibilities are endless. They are they are, and I think that starts with can repaint William Jackson the third and call Austin that free agency because I had been on the offensive side and preaching offense. All of that changes its 58 or 22 leaves and created because that's your number one corner. That's your easily by far your best ed Russia, and so if either of those guys goes One out of the corner. You know from Jackson isn't there you could sell me on your way in the corner and the first two picks, which we need a corner with the fifth pick or with the 38 sick or if we trade down certainly in the first round, you know, And so that That's the argument against letting one of those guys walked right. Like they both of injury history. I think, Lawson it could be asking for perfect money. As you know William Jackson the third and I know you got chilly winds reading. If you can keep both of those guys that that gives you a much better shot at revamping the defense because then six we don't need this high end Ed Russia next season to add the loss, and you just confined a serviceable, proven veteran and free agency that isn't gonna break the band, and then you draft image On date. You're early day three of the draft. That can develop behind Sam hovered in the veteran. You're silent, and suddenly you can see the path of the defense being in the top 15 or 16, Because here's the thing they're.

How do you find that balance of I've gotta find ways to work out, but I understand that their social distancing on this lockdown. It does feel like the little bit of a delicate balance. Yeah most definitely Obviously, there's a lot bigger things in football and work it out right now. you stay safe. Stay in quarantine. You don't Michigan's on a very harsh right now, but you know I've been able to get it in a you know supporting to stay radio. Don't always GONNA have these next couple of weeks So you know I've just been training privately with my mentor one on one sessions trying to keep it. Low Key and still social distance, but still make sure I'm getting my working. We know that you've talked to several teams, and and I'm sure you're used to this question by now. Because it's a favorite of NFL front offices and personnel departments, and that's. Why do you love football? They always want guys who you know, a a common theme. One of the worst things you can hear from a scout is I. Don't know if he loves ball when they say that. That's you know that can be a killer for a guy, I. It's hard to come back from that from a personnel department, so I'm sure you've heard frequently. Why do you love ball? Why do you love football? Why do you want this and what's been your answer to teams for that? Yes just a you know. I've always loved football growing up on football guy. like I said we try to gymnastics, but I was way too rough and ready for that, so my parents, but we have football new I love compe- and I know I'm battling against another man the trenches every day you know we're. We're in their thrown fast thorny take. Take each other down that type of stuff. You're just in their compete in every day and I love that art the game It's a team game you know I. What I like about Kenny is I'm going to remember pretty much everything. He is dead. Yeah there you go, see you you WanNa be memorable now. That is another thing that I know teams like to know is is is they like to ask you? You know speaking of memorable like what's the impression you want us to walk away with about you like. What's the one thing that you want us to remember about you when we're done having this conversation so for you? What is that? What? What is it that you want teams to come away with when they're done talking? What do you want them to to remember about? You. Give them point that I'm a dominant competitor relentless. That's something we talked about at Michigan State every day I'm not gonNA take plays off. You're going to be something. THAT'S GONNA! WHO's the best offensive lineman you faced while you're at Michigan State? Do you think? I thought Sean Slater off northwestern number seventy. You know he's always giving me fits is real. Good player I liked him a lot great last name. It's a perfect SM slater. Yeah, now we are. A cowboys focused show. That's our main thing, we we like talking to prospects more generally, but we are. Cowboys focused show so Have you gotten a chance to talk to the cowboys at all during this process? And and what if they said to you? What what kind of the feedback you got from them? Yeah, I love the cowboys focus. Show actually grew up a cowboys fan. We go rent.
