"On Thursday. It's noon right now. PT because we wanted to get the chiefs chargers game into this. And the reason is because the COVID stops just gone bonkers and basketball and in football. And our picks on a Thursday, not knowing who's playing and not knowing who's going to get scratched. It seems like Thursday's the only game. I feel great about it. Is the league in a complete panic right now? What's going on? No, I mean, they're hell bent on getting these games in, but I'll tell you some of the teams are in a complete panic. And you look at what's happening with Washington and with Los Angeles and with Cleveland, who has to play on Saturday, and now Chicago, if you saw it as we're going to record in this, they don't have a head coach offensive coordinator defensive coordinator or special teams coach. The head coach actually Maggie's fine, but like, I don't know, the rams, I don't know if the rams can feel the team right now. But the NFL says we're playing these games. And the unfortunate thing about it is that if this was like week three or week four, you could say, well, there's some wiggle room. Kit really rescheduled these games. Like, we're here at the end of the season and the playoffs are not changing. So, I don't know, man. This is something else. Yeah, my thought was that we would just go big on chiefs chargers and then sprinkle some on the rest. But I don't want to actually put big money on any of these games such as money. I don't know, it's going to play. What if we take the paths and all of sudden they lose their entire secondary on Friday? It's just such a weird times. And you know, the way most of these everybody just about, I would say is vaccinated, probably in the league, or at least most of them. So it's not, it doesn't feel like anything's life threatening here, but at the same time nobody understands how fast can you spread it? Is this the flu? Is it where she does? Here's the problem. They all had a leak meeting, all the owners, all the presidents and all the health officials in Irving, Texas this week. And a lot of people were like, all right, we understand that like you're being safe here, but if you're testing every single day and these guys are asymptomatic and they're vaccinated and they don't feel sick, like can we change these rules? And I think the NFL would love to and they might. The NFL Players Association, the union is hell bent on as of now. Let's stay with the daily testing and let's do what's best for these players and it's a collectively bargained policy. So it's not as easy as that. I'm going to be really interested to see how it plays out because these rules might change. We need the union and need the players to buy in. Crazy times. And we're heading toward the playoffs. That's the other piece of this. And who knows how that's I wonder would they actually postpone a game? What would need to happen? Let's say one of these teams, the browns, Washington, one of these teams passes the point of no return, and they can't feel the football team. They have the two week window between the championship games and the Super Bowl. So would they consider nudging everything back a week? I don't know. I think they're going to have to start thinking that way. Going to have to look at everything and the players union has to cooperate with it. I'll say that there was some heated discussions this week at the league meetings. And I know there are a lot of representatives from teams saying, hey, we need to change these. This is not the life or death thing we have vaccines and as calluses it sounds like we've played 15 weeks. Let's not throw the season away because of some rules that we think might be changing. But who knows the NFL's being rather be safe than sorry but gosh, you look at a team like tonight, the Chargers don't have rashawn slater. He's the best left tackle in football the last few weeks. He's their best player on their offensive line this season. And now you got Frank Clark and whoever else because of this. He can't play in Sean slater, most likely feels fine. Right. Weird times, Drake's. I know. Not as weird for us because we just every week we have bad luck and we lose games. We had tough beats on the browns and all that stuff last week. But as I'm looking ahead at week 15, it's hard not to see the shadow of the one and only urban Meyer. Over one of the games where the Jaguars are 5 point favorites against the Texans. Well, it was coming to a head. And Tom Pelosi from the NFL network did a really fine job chronicling it with that article on Saturday. And I think one of the things that stood out most to a lot of people said, no one from Jacksonville at all was like, no wait a second. That's not true. Like not one person came out and was like, no, he didn't get into a fiery argument with Marvin Jones or no, he didn't bench James Robinson and Trevor Lawrence begged him to come back in. There was no one coming to his side. So I could tell you that shot con the owner did a bit of a fact finding mission this week was speaking to a lot of people within the building. And then once you got that Josh Lambo story on the record and no one came out and was outraged by that story, I think it expedited. But the story that what I heard as of Wednesday was like, they got the Texans this week. They got the jets next week. Let's give it those two weeks and let's reassess. And then once the Lambeau article came out, I think it really expedited things. But at the league meetings, I could tell you that it was a hot topic of conversation and I feel like shot con saw the writing on the wall and said, let's rip the band aid off. Bill, it's the first time we've ever in the history of the NFL seen a first year coach fired before the end of the season. We've seen petrino leave. We've seen coaches get fired after one year. Never through this. Just through 13 games. It's pretty wild. I think it might be the new go to reference. For me, it was always spurrier in that crazy Washington year he had where he's like, it's working 8 hours a day. It's like, oh, good luck. Good luck with that strategy. And the NFL, but there's been some good ones. You mentioned Saban lasted a couple of years. This one went the worst. All the signs were there, all spring all summer. And it makes you wonder, like, why would teams ever do this again? Yeah..

"Time he's thoughts on sunday's game A couple of other things for me on sunday's game as well then we'll get to the eli pate and broadcast from the monday night game last night. Antonio gibson was on the injury report yesterday with shoulder injury We are recording this. Podcast don't know what his status was practiced. Let me just point out that according to reports yup From ashbourne from the media antonio gibson was out there for stretching okay well. That's good news on the field stretching so that's goodness we'll see if he takes part in practice. Today i was going to point out that if gibson couldn't go and that would be a disappointment and i know he fumbled and i know he had a couple of drop passes. I think there was a lot of positive from gibson on sunday that continues to sort of say to all of us. I would think that he's got some real ability to be a big time dynamic back But if he couldn't go thursday night it would be jarrett. Patterson i think that was one thing and i didn't mention this yesterday with cooley. I think one of the things. It was noticeable. Patterson had three carries and only two counted because one was a seven yard gain. That got called back but I think it's pretty apparent that that he's the backup to gibson. But malcolm kunst the other selections at the guy would have went with that point in the draft but in the third round athens go divine diablo at virginia tech and then the fourth round they won with barry gillespie missouri safety. They're labeled safeties. But i believe to be used more versatile away those second level defenders that we talk about. Because you still. John abram this team and i think you're going to see a lot of these guys will guys lineup as linebackers especially divide diablo. There are certain impact positions that have very great value. If you have a great quarterback think about non nominee awesome. Wildwood the raiders. He shut down one side of the field and it didn't matter because team was horrible. So if you're picking top ten. You're taking a cornerback out. Get it man. i just don't get it. I'm an agreement with you but when you talk about because it for me. It's you go with pass rush first and then second impact players exactly you buddies but so why would you take a cornerback in the top ten unless you defense already. Good right if you have a good defense already. Then you take a quarterback but if you're picking your evens we know your team's not good you're picking the top tendon in this in this draft. You didn't have those impact players. You didn't have the impact of tackle. You didn't have that pass rush. There was no pass rusher in this draft that warranted being even picked up in the first round and it wasn't a trade back and get. Do you collect more picks. You don't take a quarterback in the first ten picks of your top if you're picking a top ten teams already boo. Okay good for you. Have a good cornerback. Now what about the rest of your defense was very true but now if that quarterback if that cornerback is rated on your board at their quarterback is rated higher than any office of play that you have at that point in time then you go. Cornerback you can afford you know you can find. Because here's a thing you can find linebackers all over the draft. You can find defensive tackles at least in that first. Second you'd be lucky to find some in the third the third round so you could find one of those positions in the second round but in the nfl picking a quarterback in the for cornerback in the first round. You're going to be hard pressed to have successful cornerback. In the second third even later rounds. That's very rare. So you've gotta cornerback. Disagree that i disagree with that. I do. I mean you look at it team like the bucks who just won the won the super bowl. That's how you build a man you can have a. I'm not saying you don't pick players in the secondary but not in the top ten because it doesn't do anything for you it doesn't could you teams already not good. Stay back at eight and draft a quarterback there and then maybe even force a team to have anita quarterback to come talk to them about teddy bridgewater. So win win. Win all around there. So yeah, it continues to ramp up until that point. It's crazy that we're just about four days away. It's it feels like it's coming up quicker than you think. So in in you're a big part of what I think is the best coverage of the NFL draft. You can get back the draft show. So how much what is it been on now for a month at this point a month-and-a-half? So so how much has your opinion of what the Cowboys should do with the 10th pick change that month? It's changed quite a bit. And the thing is is it's actually now that I'm thinking about it. It's been more than a month. We started it up in December. Wow, cuz because the Cowboys at 3 and 9 whenever they were 3 and 9. So we've been at it so over there be December January February March. So this is month for now of the trial two episodes a week. Here. So Thursday, it's funny how much it has shifted. I didn't think it would I thought back in December that the Cowboys were going to pick it stopped in corner. And that was it. I thought maybe a linebacker maybe Micah Parsons in that category. I don't think he's even a part of the conversation now, both of those Corners are still a part of the conversation, but I've now shifted into the thinking that I think about an offensive tackle, especially a guy like with Sean Slater should be in that conversation or maybe even a Kyle pits and it honestly makes my stomach churn thinking about taking an office job. Player because of how many bowls this Cowboys defense has but really when you look at the investment they've made on offense. It's that's kind of where you need to lie. We're at the Senior Bowl, and I got to know them there, including all three of their linebackers that they drafted last year and a little bit cooler, just eastern market early this year. It might even be more critical right because they don't have the combine. And a lot of this stuff that they did is going to be virtually My guys whacked out 2020 that they're gonna be evaluating specifically with the fifth pick. Think about it in a school or Sean Slater. The two top tackles, either one played in 2020. Either. Did you March 8? So evaluating those guys? It's tough, and obviously none of them were at the funeral. But getting to talk to some of these guys that were at the Senior Bowl on some of them worked out. I think that's huge being able to perfect with Devante Smith, right of Alabama, and and all these, you know other guys, I mean, really, I look at the Senior Bowl chick, and there were Ah lot of guards that I think stood out from tackles. It is well in, you'll look at the Bangles and where they need to address. Their issues wrong, that there's your offensive line help, potentially and then on defense. Same thing that there was a match players that I think could be there in the 2nd 3rd 4th grounds that they got the look at up close and personal defensive tackles as well. So I think there were Um, it is many quality prospects that they got a first hand. Look at that also addresses a weakness that could be there in the area of the draft that they're gonna be in over the past week. So I think was really serviceable little Mobile for the bangle that they're trying to evaluate separate these prospects, No doubt, and, uh, you know a lot of virtual interviews, of course and Man. It makes it critical. The eye in the sky don't lie studying a lot of film on these guys from the last time they played Yeah, absolutely in And so That's the thing with this offseason chick is you have you're missing an entire season of film on tool listening entire season of film on this guy Like two marches. You dominated the SEC. At 19 years old, but he hasn't played me here. Yeah, and in the same thing with a lot of these guys, and so that part of it matters too. And so the guys that were able to participate in practice specifically Practice is probably more important. I would say that the games because you can see other guys react the coaching and you could see how they lot struggles or dropping a pass and practice. You know all the little things that you don't get this season game. I think that those are the There's some critical points in critical things that they were probably evaluating over the past week. You know, with the draft and free agency. I don't think any team is far away from Getting back to the playoffs. And and to me that includes the Bangles. There's no doubt you, you improve this offense and really both sides of the football. God, The possibilities are endless. They are they are, and I think that starts with can repaint William Jackson the third and call Austin that free agency because I had been on the offensive side and preaching offense. All of that changes its 58 or 22 leaves and created because that's your number one corner. That's your easily by far your best ed Russia, and so if either of those guys goes One out of the corner. You know from Jackson isn't there you could sell me on your way in the corner and the first two picks, which we need a corner with the fifth pick or with the 38 sick or if we trade down certainly in the first round, you know, And so that That's the argument against letting one of those guys walked right.
