"Thank you for listening to the Sean Pendergast show as a host of a nationally syndicated radio show I thank you thank you very much here's Sloane vendor gassed good to be with all of you on a Sunday evening happy father's day to all the to all the dads out there it's funny basketball moving into that bubble in Florida's kind of taking up a back burner since we sort of know what the plan is now I think now we're just hoping that the corona virus is able to be controlled you know they're going into a state in Florida where the scene number of cases go up recently you know so they look they these these leads I think all of the best people working on it but this year the NBA kinda laid out what their plan is over the week for these players I'll tell you what I mean another some players are worried about the corona virus worried about being distracted from continuing some of the social justice initiatives or they're just being general disruptors like Kyra Irving but I think most of the guys want to go play and I'll be honest with you like they're getting to go on the Disney vacation that I think most people dream of even the crappy teams are gonna be in the damn Disney yacht club I love this I love of a divided up all the teams into the different hotels what your caste system one through four seeds in each conference from the grandest Dino the five through eight seeds are in the grand Floridian and then the poor Blazers kings Pallice spurs sons in the wizards all in the yacht club you know that you are in a league that's let's face it there is some owners crying port you know you're in a league that swimming with money when the bad teams are in the swanky Disney yacht club some of the amenities man they were talking about him this week hotel amenities players only lounge with video games the trails swimming pools and barbers and manicurists pedicures twenty four hour concierge movie screenings DJ sets video games ping pong can't play doubles ping pong though that's not proper social distancing but I feel like there's a lot of people out there well there's players who are nervous about the coronavirus I feel like there's some people that like going to Disney that would rub their face in a bowl of the corona virus to take the chance of going to get paid millions of dollars to be in this environment holy crap players may have an option to where proximity alarm that will notify a player if he spends more than five seconds within six feet of another player wearing the device so basically like a three second violation but a societal one it's like you're standing in the lane too long but the lane is being near of another person in the the file is five seconds the grave the referee standing right there to call as a file of course they screw it up or the star players would give preferential treatment to get the standard their friends for like eight seconds instead of five you're gonna have a Disney magic bands holy crap you've been to Disney world you know what I'm talking about the wrist bands were you he got like a little computer face on the front of it and use it for everything it's the key to your room if your credit card when you go shopping if your fastpass storage walking around the Disney bands all right eight five five two one two for CBS if you want to get in let's go to Adam who is he's on the road right now we dropped out of okay sorry Adam call back in a five five two one two for CBS let's go to Green Bay talk to Michael Michael you're up on CBS sports radio check Hey so what's called a couple points.

"Radio show I thank you thank you very much here's Sean Pendergast eight five five two one two for CBS is the phone number will get your calls in just a second at Shanti Pendergast on Twitter in a lot of tweets tonight that's good I was looking to get tweeted start with this lot of bad takes by Sean the first six words of this tweet from Jason Hey Jason you're not the first to say it won't be the last so it's all good a lot of bad takes by Sean discrediting Tyree into white on this issue because of dumb beliefs that he's referring to carry being a flat earth truther or because of playing time in the number of teams is asinine I let me stop there discrediting Kyree and white on this issue because of their tumbleweeds are playing time a number of teams is asinine I wouldn't say it's asinine you know late I I would say that saying the earth is flat pretty asinine I was merely pointing out the irony the V. two most prominent voices it seem to be trying to unite players are two guys who have managed to burn quite a few bridges from the teams that they've been on in recent years I read probably a more egregious bridge burner then Dwight Dwight just isn't that great basketball anymore that's the big reason white white has played on for five or six teams in the last four years he G. to stop being a great player in his last season in Houston and then he kept getting paid like a great player so that means he kept getting passed around because each team would realize why are we paying this guy so much teams like Atlanta and Washington and Charlotte LA again he's a reserve now that's all like these these are movements that are normally made by guys who are prominent players in the league respected players in the league I don't think quite Howard's a respected player in the league got gets clowned every night on TNT back when he was a good player and I get those are former players but I don't know how well respected white isn't carries a guy who he he burned his bridging Cleveland demanded a trade from an NBA championship team then he goes to Boston they're better without there but they're better without him on the floor than they are with him on the floor and now he's in Brooklyn any Turk that's not his fault that he's heard I'm just saying Calgary has his definitely had his ups and downs let's say as a player so I'm just pointing out the irony of it two guys who are not necessarily guys who are who are rally the troops kind of guys do whiting Tyree very ironic I think I think the A. I. J. somebody giving you would agree with that that there's some irony in that finishing Jason's tweets to top it off you're coming across real shut up and dribble E. your comments about why lebron's voice matters to top it off you're coming across real shut up and dribble like you turn that into an adjective in your comments about why lebron's voice matters not I'd look at pointed out that you know lebron's got good thoughts I'm merely pointing out the fact that the reason why the reason why his thoughts are on the news the reason why would lebron James tweet something it goes on the news is because he's lebron James and he's lebron James because he plays basketball that's all hello shut up and dribble means I'm telling lebron to stop tweeting I'm not telling him to do that I am reminding him of the rest of the players that the positive about them getting back on the court he's the the platform it's given him such a big voice would be re stoked and reignited ID playing basketball drawing eyeballs and using that platform simultaneously playing games to also call attention to racial inequality which I think Adam silver would be thrilled with him doing it's the most progressive of the major leagues when it comes to that sort of thing so I'm definitely not telling lebron James he can't have opinions just go play basketball I'm saying restarting the basketball is a good thing to help forward some of these movements and let's face it the reason why the reason why lebron's voice matters more than just a regular dude is he's lebron James basketball demigod if if this if there's a person sitting in a in a cubicle an accountant working in accounts receivable three to exact same thing as lebron with all the same emoji is a number of exclamation points if you tell me that has the same impact as lebron James of course not why this is lebron James that's all I'm saying I'm not telling him to shut up and dribble I appreciate the tweet though Jason appreciate the thoughts constructive conflict is a good thing all right let's so let's hit the phones eight five five two one two for CBS let's go to Matt who is in buffalo he's been holding the longest Matt Europe fire away how you do it as good as I I'm I'm just an entrance and I just want to give you my take on what I think okay I think baseball should get their act together right now and try to get a hundred eighty games and as soon as I can a hundred little hello hello a hundred eighty games onsite ATMs Asians okay gotcha has he got you okay but you got to have at least a month of spring training and and then you got sample Paul get spring training you know the camp started basketball I'm sorry you just gotta tennis season and worry about starting next season in October on time and I talked to a lot of people just regular fans just regular people I know.

"You're listening to the Sean Pendergast show you can tweet me at Shanti Pendergast at Shanti Pendergast here's Sean Pendergast yeah if you were to tweet at Shanti Pendergrass you're gonna be right there on Twitter we'll get back to the phones you want gravel line now's the time to do it will work through some phone calls as we head towards the top of the hour eight five five two one two for CBS but to talk a lot of football tonight with their gas we've been kinda AFC south heavy as well we had John McClain earlier Joel Eriksson last hour let's get some Titan talking as well I think those are the three relevant teams of three relevant cities in the AFC south Houston Indianapolis and Nashville Terry McCormick is the publisher of Titans insider dot com he joins me on CBS sports radio Terry procedure making some time on a Sunday evening and I I guess my my first question is when the rumors were out there about Tom Brady coming to Tennessee what was that if you put a poll of saying what Titan fans your readers a Titans insider dot com would have wanted at that point when the rumors were hot and heavy about Brady who won that poll between Brady and Tannehill given up Tannehill played for the Titans last year one was pretty even I think there are a lot of people were intrigued by the idea of Tom Brady the all time greatest quarterback many people's lives coming to play for the Titans but I think a lot of people also looked at what Ryan Tannehill geared to the team last year and also the fact that is twelve years younger the Brady and figured that it would be better to stick with him rather than bring in Tom Brady for a couple years so I would say it was it was pretty well split right down the middle it's kind of crazy said you know he is twelve years younger than Brady in your channels like thirty two years old but he's not a young guy he's twelve years younger than they've been then Tom Brady what what did you think of the contract that the Titans gave to Ryan Tannehill well it certainly without popping I think hundred eighteen million dollars over four years averaging about twenty nine and a half million per season obviously it's written in a way where I think the Titans can't move out for a good if things don't work out well they can get out of it and with minimal damage after a couple years but it certainly shows you that wife is good as a quarterback in the NFL especially when it comes time to be paid because Ryan Tannehill got a lot of money I think that a lot of people thought it was going to get even if he got into the open market two people going into last season Terry I think that I don't know that anybody thought the Ryan Tannehill was gonna have this season that he wound up having but going into last season what you know if you were placing odds on it what was the feeling among the Titan faithful but eventually at some point during the season Ryan Tannehill would be taking the reins from Marcus Mariota the sorry about that Hey it's okay I'll just I'll repeat the question will you gather yourself there Terry I was just yeah that's okay that's okay right what what did what did the Titan faithful think about Ryan Tannehill the possibility of him when going into the season last year if they think it was a high likelihood medium do they think Nomar Mariota will finally get it here five years and what what was that was a handicapping on that going into last season no I think a lot of people thought that you know he was just going to be here to be the back up because I think you know given Marcus Mariota's injury history I think people thought it was a good idea to bring him in because you know he was a high level back up an upgrade over Blaine Gabbert you've been here a year before and Matt Cassel who've been here before that so I think it was a situation where not a lot of people thought that right hander would be using much more than an insurance policy but then something slowly started to happen in training camp and preseason because even though ten hills player with the second team a lot of people started to notice that he was he seemed to do better in the office at the Marcus Mario and I know you can't put a lot of stock in the pre season you can't put a lot of stock in the play and you know against died some of whom are going to be selling cars you know after you know the pre season is over but that it was a situation where a lot of people kind of looked and said let me make you rise handle is is done and then you know but they will give Marcus the benefit of the doubt struggle starting about a week to and couldn't get back on track when they went to Ryan Tannehill it was obvious that what we've seen increasing numbers are average Terry McCormick Titans insider dot com he's a publisher is joining me on CBS sports radio so Terry signing Ryan Tannehill to that long term deal one thing that allowed the Titans to do is it enough to use the franchise tag on him so that made the franchise tag available for Derrick Henry we've seen the franchise tag with running backs before specifically levy on Bellamy got kind of ugly what's the sense on what's gonna happen with Derrick Henry in his franchise tag as we work towards hopefully work towards training camp yeah that's interesting I'm you know I think you know the franchise tag is a double edged sword because you know the player doesn't want it the team a lot of times when they use it they know that the player is not gonna be happy about it and I think you know if you're the Titans you know the running back position is one that obviously Derrick Henry had a fantastic year he said to really good years in that role the last two seasons for the Titans but I think when you look at what happened with Todd Gurley when you look at what's happened with divide Dave Freeman you look at what's happened with levy on sale you know all these guys who you know were up for big money and then once they got it David John another one to throw in there and all of a sudden the wheels come off for running back at the no the Titans are probably smart to try it this way with there can we know that that they may still negotiate up until July fifteenth and try to get a long term deal done if they can but to me I think this whole situation you know with the way running backs are going franchise Madonna's probably the smart thing to do not that there's a lot of times when a guy gets the franchise tag he holds out of the office of work he holds out of pre season you hold out of training camp it shows up a few days before the first game and then all of all one after soft tissue report hamstring pull quiet something like that and then he never really gets on track so I think that's what you got to guard against the Titans and worry about if Derrick Henry misses the offseason working doesn't get into football shape before you showed up is there can be the type of guy who gets sideways emotionally a little bit about having the franchise tag put on him I don't think he'd be very happy he's probably happy about his other half the long term security that said he he's the type of data he's a workout warrior he's he first type of guy I think he would do his best to answer the bell but you know it's also a business so you may get told by his representation to you know stay home for the offseason work don't put yourself in harm's way until the board's alive Terry McCormick Titans insider dot com joining me on the show Terry how did the trade of Jurrell Casey go over in Nashville not not well unless you want to unless they're going to go out and do something else with the yeah the ten million dollars worth of money that they say five nothing is contract only give back a seventh round pick up they opened a lot of people diss to Hey what's going on I think some people are speculating you're good to go one or two or three different ways either you know it gives them negotiating money with Henry if they want to do that use them a chance to maybe make a run to keep Logan Ryan if they want to do that or the people who have like been Digiday Bianconi and he has a history having played for Mike Vrabel's Houston so you know there are things that I guess could be done with that money if the tight so choose but losing a dialect or OKC who'd been following us out all the field it had been you know warrior type player during some not so good times for this franchise and they end up to lose him for a seventh round pick in and not only are you losing the player who's a talent usually a guy who's well respected in the locker room and well respected in the community so you know if if they're gonna use this money that they freed up by futuro Casey and it's going to be you know they're going to have to make a splash who did get somebody done get something done somebody under contract there was a time not all that long ago Terry were drilled case she was the only thing they had on that roster that was anything close to a Pro Bowl caliber player yeah he made the lady Walker now they're gone so that's the two guys this franchise gruesome gruesome times two three win seasons you know what it can with hot you know if it was a dark time for this franchise injury okay you're exactly right he would you know a bright spot in really bad team along with the lady.

"Moment to accommodate for Sean Pendergast eight five five two one two four two two seven I got to get the David in Dallas first about a possible eighteen game schedule David you've been patient go right on ahead or we can just thing I will say is pointed out the fat testified to ten years with the CBA changing the games become a more sloppy the rules being changed more more to favor basically if you have in a league quarterback in the long he stays healthy you win if you don't then you know what what are you up at best of six isn't clean maybe for for nine to seven here and there but you really aren't contending it's funny because they cover the NFL parity but looking to win most years if you usually the same global teams because of you can install the only quarterbacks of crude projectors so if for me I've got to work in a home watch Sunday night football may be a Thursday night game usually the money I can answer terrible and I may watch one of the four twenty five windows with the all the other CBS or fox league game and that's about it really and Doris is aren't there so shouldn't several or there's other things to do I I just don't care about watching sloppy football Dawson's widely is terrible yep you can go take take this your Super Bowl team the chiefs to give the team the ones about ten fifteen years ago they would not even at all be able to muster pass rush just because they would be used to eight office of line that much in sync no matter how great the long walks it's just their communications are I mean there's so much difference to it to me I can see the products will be more more every year so and that's happened and it's become a more more water down I'm sorry but I'm actually drawn back total you know to me it's kind of like if you wanna go see that's in the R. thirty five transformers are twenty seven go ahead have that it does all your original movie that actually work today I'm David I I believe me I'm not I'm not saying I don't believe you just you know you are in the vast minority you know that and I don't I I don't begrudge you for feeling that way that's not what it is I I think that the league I just don't think they care I think that fantasy football pushes that I think our fandom pushes it I think gambling pushes it a little bit it is a sport that it just has the perfect set up in a lot of ways and David I I gotta get the fiber in question I can't thank you enough for the call because it's it's the exact perspective I'm looking for he David wants to see quality you're just we're going to have to accept that David doesn't have to accept anything we will have to accept that the quality is changed and it's not coming back you'd see CRISPR football week one when guys could run into each other you can run into each other now there's a CBA and because you only have so much time it's become so much more restrictive you need talent above all used to be able to make players a little bit you can coach mark Macomb it's become a harder job for coaches I can't really in a physical collision sport which it still is on the field I can't really dictate which one I'm going to find and and and coach of guys that are gonna be able to collide with one another so the first few weeks it especially with the eighteen game schedule if it were to come to that are gonna be very sloppy and for every David the league in this is callous but true for every David there are thousands and thousands and thousands of people who will pick it up and that's just the way they feel about you David is a guy who gave his opinion on a sports talk radio show and all I care about is the number on a television screen that's all I care about they did the the all this stuff to the NFL to really all the major force but to the end of it maybe not the NBA the NBA tries I think try to listen to the fan but you could say I'm get snowballed on that one but then I felt a bit your opinion them no matter how much really doesn't on sports talk radio nope as long as you're watching eight five five two one two for CBS shopper we ready baby we are ready it's time for five burning questions.

in the day also hit you before we get to the other stuff about the players union yes somebody asked me a question why don't I have to make that voice about the people complaining about the weed is there a certain voice that would you would say that has to complain about the weed with Jordan love yes there are the people call the cops give me a voice to an impression bill you better be ready to do this Hickey give me your impression of the person who call I just assumed it was a girl by the way but you could've been anybody give me the impression of the person who called the cops on Jordan love it is friends smoking weed in the apartment go R. nine on one yeah others are weed smoking going on clear please appreciate your come up a step to to really figure out the situation thank you and I agree I'll be honest Billy one it looks here the impression of the people call the smoke weed about people call about Jordan love smoking we go take a Mike I believe you have my gun met Billy turned is Mike off I hit he believes it might this is a train wreck you've ruined it all Billy go my god ten what do you make me do these things I bet if I was one of your strippers you would do it go ahead yes there's a man up stairs with some we are smells coming from his room what I'll check that out please if I were the police said becoming your part because you're trying to bring me okay you can't be laughing while your call okay you want can't be laughing while you're trying to call the police about people smoking marijuana cigarette I actually me yell you sounds like the person probably call the cops and your love for smoking weed you know that I just thought about that sounding an airline pilot that was called elite yet delete fell apart she can't speak it we're in the Parma blow Jordan then the reefer madness is going on if you could come over soon as best we can the B. grade maybe time and maybe about forty minutes but you know we might be done smoking the marijuana by then thank you very much for taking my call belly up there you go you guys both suck impressions you wanna come after me over my dusty Rosenberg Dusty Rhodes impression both of you both of you talk to Jerry brewer The Washington Post earlier asked him about the CBA and what the top players the franchise players in the NFL don't get go well I think you have to look at it from the standpoint of of the rank and file player and their their life is going to get significantly better I mean we talk about the minimum is going up dramatically when you factor in the fact that you know people think that these negotiations are millionaires verses millionaires in reality fifty percent of the of the in a cell mate minimum minimum salaries sixty percent roughly of the players make one million dollars or less and when you're talking about bump in their salaries up twenty five percent over the course of the deal it's it's a game changer for a lot of these guys because most of the guys to come in the league are going to be two three years and now and that's a that's a game changing amount of money in there in a short period of time for them so you got to factor that in I think you also got a factor and you're never going to get from forty eight point forty seven percent of the revenue to a fifty fifty split coming up a percentage and a half is significant over the lifetime of ten years I mean that's five billion dollars according to the owners projections that players to get if they can produce that level of revenue I think that right now you know let everybody situation get a little better let everybody get a little richer and let's figure out not only what the TV revenue is going to be but then also let's figure out this gambling thing and how lucrative that potentially could be for the sports world in in ten years you might be in a position where you can have the fight to end all fights you know for the future of football but I think right now it's better to take this progress which is incremental progress but it's not like just one tickets a couple of pics take it and and let's move forward it's not the game changer that you wanted it to be when thinking about going to seventeen games but at least you're not going to eighteen and I think that you know for an overwhelming majority of the union it's a.

"Rocket mortgage push button get mortgage gonna be with all of you on a Sunday evening couple hours ago on the show here on CBS sports radio I'm Sean Pendergast back in the saddle six to ten PM eastern time on Sunday nights here on the network probably welcoming a lot of the affiliates in now over the last half hour forty five minutes as the Seahawks an eagles game as wound down I know that to a local leave that's your program directors like to play those NFL games I know I'll go this time of year so I know I'm I'm and I'm cool with it I'll need to be cool with it because for the last few years I've had to do the show during the Superbowl sixty I don't because of notice with six to ten PM eastern time basically fits the footprint of the Superbowl the good news is I promise to be back with you on that Superbowl and doing gamble cast all over again where I just basically during that show I am a man watching the Superbowl tracking prop bets the entire time I have found that it is a above I found that it's a nice service and I've been providing for some of you people seem to like that so we'll worry about that a few weeks from now the NFL playoffs are underway first weekend in the books and we've got some pretty good and interesting match ups going into the next week which will talk about throughout the show tonight I will take your phone calls eight five five two one two four CBS eight by five two one two four two two seven that's our toll free line here at CBSSports radios Roger by geico great news there's a quick way you can save money switch to geico go to geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you have fifty percent or more on car insurance here's what I was told by my my team up in New York that handles the the phone calls from you guys is it after I give my opinion on the saints game today particularly the final play of the game or Kyle Rudolph caught the winning touchdown and there was some question over whether or not it should have been reviewed for offense of pass interference there were a lot of Louisiana people they got very angry with my opinion because my opinion on what should happen on that play basically was a gateway to me getting mildly to very perturbed about how much New Orleans seems to think that the league has it out for them how much saints fans seem to think that when something happens with the same for their wrong in some way in the post season then the rule book needs to be pulled out and change so that it'll never happen again ironically the league did that last year there was a pass interference call that should do well a pass interference no call as most NFL fans know in that ram Singh's NFC title game they should have been called it should have been pass interference which would have led to the saints in all likelihood being able to run the clock out no never mind the fact that for some reason Sean Payton was throwing earlier during that sequence of plays not running the football so he was voluntarily running plays that were stopping the clock already never mind the fact the drew Brees or an interception in overtime it was entirely that play saints fans felt very wrong to them so the league voted in actually did change the rule to accommodate the saints and anybody else who might find themselves in this situation and as we learned with that rule throughout the year to review or challenge pass interference the league made it very very clear throughout the year that the threshold for which discussion should even take place over reviewing it the threshold to wear a coat she even think about throwing the red flag the threshold the very base line amount of interference not called that there should have been for a coach to challenge it is the level to which it happened in the NFC title game last year anything even remotely near the margins not getting overturned anything even remotely in the margins of questionable not obvious not get reviewed in the last two minutes are in overtime by New York we learn that throughout the year so why do saints fans banks that tile Rudolph's touchdown they should have been reviewed it's the least shocking thing to me they didn't get reviewed could it have been often to pass your fears sure it could of you can throw a flag their view the referee and called it in you could look in parts that the plane to get his arm extended and I mean it would have been a ticky tack call my opinion but I'll concede using fans that it could have been called to cut a fly could've been thrown but it didn't come close but if your stick a flag wasn't thrown the flag wasn't thrown so now the question becomes okay should be reviewed and if it is review does it meet the threshold that's been established I'm what overturning a call should be not even in the same zip code that Hey I mean anybody thinks of that thing should have been reviewed is ridiculous based on how that rule has been administered all year long you wanted same fans how to be ministered all year long I love the irony I hate that it affected you guys because I've I've spent a lot of time in Louisiana was married to Louisiana girl what friends or saints fans I enjoy New Orleans one of my favorite places to go you can get screwed today I hate to tell you stop Kirk cousins how about that how about do something on defense to stop Kirk cousins how about not giving up deep all the Adam feeling Hey lots how about making a field goal at the end of the half he has always been appointed the officials when there's like fifty things your team could have done differently to win the football game I don't get it what happened in the Louisiana that I knew before these last three years I mean there's old ladies calling my people up in New York saying they're protesting the station because I said to you guys get a little soft on this stuff really come on now eight five five two one two four CVS let's start off this hour in New Orleans let's go to Mike like you're up on CBS sports radio Hey with Coleman how you doing good good so actually you just said the words out of my mouth I've been working since you know listen every Sunday ability of the last hour or so where you would totally correct there was ample opportunity to put the game away jewelry is not himself let's made to still go and it would have been done all of it I mean there's no way the big game in the window with a date and obviously we didn't do our job collectively as a whole at the whole so I knew it does it does it hurt absolutely did you know you know with his do green bay's that his days are numbered image of you know and it was this year you know and we have a lot of people Latimore camara there's a lot of them that they're they are put in the contract you can't pay them all there's no way so the thing is mail it was a symbol of us so we busted the what can happen now the mostly in the novel way in it might be awhile would you be my leg another ring this is the reality of it Mike I appreciate the phone call but you are a very appreciate the phone call you're a very rational saints fan that's what you remind me Mike you remind me of the old adage I should not paint everybody with the same broad brush from a region of the country because you my friend makes sense there are things the saints could have done to win the football there are things it seems could have done to win the football game but they lost last year on the interference call look within people looking would you could have done differently and not what was done to you in these situations and I don't see I don't have the the the you know might some of these talking about there about the future of the saints I don't have their you know their their spot rack page open in front of me that list everybody salaries I just assume that every team that has a franchise quarterback it's paid like they deserve to be paid drew Brees is one of them it's really hard to keep your team together so that's life in the NFL breeze doesn't look like he's going anywhere anytime soon interbreed is obviously still quarterback that you can win a Superbowl with you know you mean you came within that bad call in a couple bad plays by Brees in overtime last year I'm going back to the Superbowl and when he was healthy this year he was fine had a bad turn over in the game today that fumble really hurt them but they look they did enough to come back and get the game in overtime but you do get job by the rest today you did not get a job by the referees today I let's go to hi who is in Richmond Todd you are up on CBS sports radio are they going good how are you I'm good so I'm a long time back experience one thing I want to get out is that you know the things always feel like they're getting cheated that you know they are not getting a fair deal but you know we tend to forget about bounty and the whole you know they got their head coach you know spend a full year the defensive coordinator by yeah you know so they have a short memory comes to you know why things aren't working for them and they always was about to change the rules for us so they can win yeah that's the part I don't get the part the part where they're like yeah we you know what this is such and such happened in this game we need to get the rule book out and re write how the rules are done okay so every mistake you're gonna go head and let's pull the ruble got so you said your Vikings fan talk yes how excited are you about what happened in game and you must be you must you must be fired up this is a lot better than them the miracles so verified out for happy form and looking forward to doing the same thing to the forty Niners we'll see we'll see appreciate the phone call tie that to I that will not be that will not be easy it's home Hey look if you're the Vikings and you make the Superbowl I guess is true about any sixty right because you got a hole in the road inherently you're not playing a home game and some sixties are stronger than others my take coming into the Playhouse was like wow these are two pretty good three seeds man Abella check coached Brady quarterback New England team and a thirteen three saints team these are two pretty good three see that's not the same for the best three see that I've ever seen thirteen three this year really not a ton of weakness is on the team your breezes are quarterback I'm but so I guess I'll turn my take now into this is the greatest six feet pairing that I've ever seen Titans in the Vikings so we'll see David they both got a tough part coming up this weekend this coming weekend Titans traveling to Baltimore and the Vikings traveling to the to the forty Niners so we'll see what happens all right what do you want to get in we work Morgan we've got.

"Sports radio Sean Pendergast with you to me the theme so far in the postseason has been maybe some key figures coming into the post season I wouldn't say necessarily fully getting the monkey off their back but at least doing things that are maybe unexpected or at least things it's certainly make you think about how you you view those folks and I would say Ryan Tannehill going into New England impeding the patriots you know it wasn't a game for ten a hill to the degree that he had throughout the second half of the season there are few quarterbacks better statistically than Ryan Tannehill in the second half of the season variety entailed never won in New England before as a starting quarterback in the NFL he was going in there much more equipped to do that with the team around him and the team at the patriots have sort of kind of had deteriorated probably too strong a word I mean they were twelve and for this year but it's not the same patriots team as teams in in years past that helped the Ryan Tannehill getting a win on the road is a sixty to New England that's a big deal for Ryan Tannehill that's sort of a it can be game changing thing for his his personal legacy a little late in his career here is in his early thirties I'm guessing the Titans are going to commit to him to some degree this offseason so there's that I was at the game last night as I mentioned Texans in bills I don't know that that was a game in necessarily gets bill o'brien off of any sort of hot seat with the fans he's on it zero hot seat with the organization he's he's not getting fired or anything but I can tell you from being here in Houston and covering the Texans on a daily basis during their pregame and postgame specially during their postgame show because that's where you get callers is they don't you know Brian is not a not a popular figure here in town he's he's had more success than most NFL head coaches here's one the division a bunch of times most head coaches can't say that the NFL but the winning a division thing getting knocked out early early in the playoffs has gotten old for a lot of fans in Houston so I don't know that that I I don't know that that took o'brien up any sort of matches in the eyes of Texan fan section in the I think are more the Wilder over they fell behind sixty nothing in the first place and then I think they view it as he was the John Watson doing great things ultimately win that game which I think is accurate probably only o'brien coaches best game but that was easily easily easily the most important and memorable win of his career and then today earlier today Kirk cousins who has carried around the label of not being able to be able to perform in big situations in prime time today was a prime time game but it was his biggest situation is you can have he was on the road in what I would say is the toughest environment to go play a playoff game in the Superdome and won the football game I think it helped him they they basically lead in that game well they fell behind three nothing they fell behind ten three but they responded when they fell behind ten three they responded with a really good drive and they only had a field goal out of it Dalvin cook that stopped down near the goal line but that they responded to going down ten three at least with a successful drive or they got points I thought was big for them in that moment and then I thought the missed field goal by the saints right before the half was huge but you get are you want to be the difference in the game I suppose we don't know the butterfly effect is if he makes it there but do you know what I mean and then and then made plays in overtime in the throat Adam feeling they're gonna remember that throw for a long long time to put them set them up down here the goal line and then on third down when they had to have it he made the throw to Kyle Rudolph to win that game this is a big day for Kirk cousins man this is a David that Kirk cousins is probably thought it's been a long time coming and it's a day helps justify the investment that the Vikings made him a couple years ago when they made him the first player to fully have a contract guaranteed eighty seven million OR ninety million fully guaranteed her cousins earnest money today yeah both of the sixties the Titans of the Vikings head to Baltimore in San Francisco respectively next week so you know that that this sandal run out of the hour glass here soon enough but a great day for both of those franchises in both of those quarterbacks Tamil and cousins two guys who have made a lot of money but I've been searching for signature moments they're starting to get them in this post season alright let's go to the phones a five five two one two four CBS will start off with and who is in Texas and you're up on CBS sports radio how are you hello I'm fine thanks John and good afternoon I was looking at the St and now it's John Payton and the saints are reminding be of the cowboys of the early eighty eighty eighty one eighty two and Tom Landry to resume at that time was better than Sean Payton yeah but they lost three disappointing gains NFC championships eighty eighty one eighty two I remember never never the same after that and I'll be it may happen to the state because the team cannot continue to take disappointments like the saints are being bounced out three straight years in the way that they have and I I think they could end up feeding into the around this it's interesting what you will we'll we'll see I appreciate the phone call here there's big differences between those two I love comparisons like this and so I'm glad you brought this I'm glad you brought this up way different NFL now than it was back then that was a cowboy group that was aging Roger Starbuck it or already retired I remember those teams those listings are all quarterback by Danny white but Tony hill was getting older and Tony Dorsett was getting older and drew Pearson's getting older and rainy whites getting older and there was not free agency back then to sort of re tool and restock player stayed with the same team for a long long time that was an aging core now the drew Brees is is aging he's in his early forties he's not the same quarterback used to be still very very good my guess is drew Brees the wants to play football for a couple more years it's a different league in terms of how you construct rosters it's a different league in terms of our quarterbacks centric it is now so I would say the ability to retool your roster probably favors the modern day saints in terms of avoiding what happened the cowboys I would say the QB centric mess of it remains to be seen one five and with teddy Bridgewater as the starting quarterback this year I don't know that I'm there with the saints where they're ready to slide into the you know slide into the Gulf of Mexico or anything like that because that's a team there is is is pretty well built on both sides of the football but it was a disappointing day today to be sure but we speaking of teddy Bridgewater that play where the Dalvin cook formal wear I forget who picked it up in and returned it for a touchdown some better defensive back on the things picked up returned for a touchdown he got called back because cooks me was down but if you guys watch the game you know the plan talking about would put the syncs up twenty four to twenty late in the game with about three minutes to go in the game teddy Bridgewater is running onto the field from the bench celebrating the touchdown before the duty team across the goal line that would have been fascinating to see that play had gotten a call back but if they took in all twenty two kind of view of the field and they could see the teddy Bridgewater was on the field it's what men on the field reporter is running on the field to celebrate a touch I mean the guy was in the clear it was very obvious he was going to score but all my god teddy Bridgewater what are you doing back you're supposed to know better you're supposed to be one of the smart ones unbelievable Seahawks levy eagles tend to three early in the third quarter but the eagles are driving right now so we'll keep an eye on that one for you let's go to Boston continue on the phones and talk to talk to Matt Matt what's going on up in Boston a warning what are they saying up in Boston today man all mayor John it is it is ugly up here oddly I mean usually hard the postgame show last I I need it was absolutely I mean it was so negative and you know how all those years that are you know people would come to the feds of Brady and Belichick over the years nobody is get defended up your ad you know you asked the question about the championship dynasty old Bouchard dollar we use it over it's been it was all over the minute the loss to Miami in week seventeen add all just to spell that gives you a really good description of why is that the stars is over okay he has had a dominant home field advantage there this year losing only out of the last four home games that's the first one the second one is in the last nine games our check headspace a former disciple of his whether it's a warrior or head coach assistant yes somebody he's one of those nine games how many for Ford five hundred four wide so if that doesn't tell you that this one of excellence is over there and you guys tell me what I'm missing yeah see the phone call Matt that's good stuff I like those stats and I you know what's interesting about those stats be the second one in particular the last nine games that you're talking about with against former we'll check assistance are disciples will call it is that it's happened against it's happened against multiple disciples will say the reason why they were using disciple I'm assuming you're including for able in their Rabal never coached with Bella check but he obviously play for Bella Jack and of those five losses and I'm just I'm doing chicken scratch on my notebook I don't I'm not looking it up right now I'm just trying to go from memory of those five losses I know the there's the loss to okay I know they are close to the losses arrabal the last night and they got blown out by the Titans last season they lost the Brian floor is as you mentioned in Miami in week seventeen he lost a map Patricia last year in Patricia's rookie season as head coach to the lions and then the bill o'brien lead Texans beat the patriots in week thirteen I believe it was this year at the NRG stadium in Houston so that to me is that that's the interesting part to me is it it's not it's not there it's been one one former assistant or former player who just has your number they're all get mia Rachel's gave me a floor is is getting your Brian Patricia me lord knows a Brian had enough cracks at it he had to win eventually that's interesting four and five in the last nine games hi that that's here I do a lot of out of market listening during the week when they're big stories you know I'm in Houston Boston radio this week will be a destination for me I I.
Who's to blame for the Chicago Bears' issues?
"We got a couple minutes to spend with a guy who knows his way around the national public as well as anyone I know we're gonna go Chicago's Pacific with them early in in touch on a bunch of league topics he knows the bears because easy NFL insider for the score in Chicago executive editor pro football weekly and does some time I work for Westwood One our buddy Hobart to shop to board with us here on CBS sports radio how are you how yeah you know yeah good to well not good because subject fan but you you you we do use it of course if we bear and your guys got to cover the bears and I'm sure there are nappy folks in Chicago as well their offense isn't is good is it supposed to be their defense isn't as good as opposed to being the counting isn't quite as good as it's supposed to be other than that how is the play Mrs Lincoln you point the biggest finger at well I mean it's a bit of a puzzle right now as you just said all three things and so forth and like as much special teams not as good as they're supposed to be there is no question that the talent on that football team is better than three in five minutes a lot closer to the team that you saw the last ninety minutes of the third period in the first five minutes of the fourth president was the rest of the game and yet they've been playing that way for the last four weeks and so at the end of the day it starts with the boss the head coach Matt Nagy the is the reigning NFL coach of the year you don't win those words and complete flukes you know he obviously did some things very well last year he is still relatively young as head coaches go but his area of expertise which is the offense is the biggest problem for the football team right now yeah and and probably I realized today cover in that game balls and equally big problem is the fact that you can be an offense of all he wants is the head coach of the football team yeah when you got last year was number three seed in the autopsy not showing up there what was a must win game and they clearly didn't show up in the first half the more problems than just you know the quarterback of the offenses scheme or whatever it may be and so I think a big part of the problem right now is the man that you need to stop and say okay I'm the head coach you're not the offensive coordinator will probably need to hand off his play calling duties used up by you guys on the staff who done it not capable of doing it and they need somebody running the football team twenty four seven and for sixty minutes outside intriguing way to look at it who are those guys who do you think is the top guy DD would potentially hand play calling duties often on one of his assistant coaches our senses Brad Childress who's been a head coach in the NFL is called plays in the NFL not he is not a devil okay if you will of the modern day west coast than Andy Reid talked to Doug Peterson and and met Nagy was all it was part of all that but he's more of a sure west coast guy he's not gonna be as adventuresome as neck you would be but but he has one and gone to championship games in the NFL as an offense of coach I think even a better prospect could very well be mark Helfrich course was the head coach in Oregon when they were threatening to win a national title with Marcus Mariota at quarterback he is a little more create a little more adventurous and he's a guy it definitely do it and really a guy who's been in training call numbers your spouse former movie objectives were gone who is his quarterback coach in who did get a little training during your exhibition season called place no last exhibition game to give him a taste of that so between those two guys even as it was just for a game or two so that he could focus on getting other things straightened out he's got plenty of play calling ability or at least
Saints' Brees to see hand specialist after injuring thumb
"If you missed it drew Brees or left the saints game today with a thumb injury there some concern there he seeing a specialist in LA are staying in a way to see the specialist the cowboys go on the road to play the saints two weeks from tonight and they might play a saints team led by teddy Bridgewater unless they go to Tatian held by that point but as of right now it was teddy Bridgewater who came in in replace of drew

Giannis Antetokounmpo walks out on postgame press conference after playoff elimination
"Got this. I got screen capture a couple of people on Twitter. You can tweet me at Sean Pendergast when I was giving Janas grief, forgetting up and walking out of the press conference couple people had alerted me to the fact that the reporter asking the question was someone by the name of Melissa Andrews, and she tweeted. Apparently a link. Where the story is bucks, elimination puts focus on Janas future. In milwaukee. She tweeted with the buck season ending abruptly to in shy, the NBA finals, a source close to Janas attend Toco. Tells ESPN a finals run in twenty twenty tipped the scales for Janas to sign with Milwaukee long term. In other words, in other words, Jaanus who's now eligible for a supermax deal after next season is keeping his options open. If someone speculating on your future, as a an an MVP level player who's eligible for a supermax something that makes you get up and walk out of a press conference, then man, I don't know what to tell you. This is what happens in this day and age people speculate about other people's futures, especially in the NBA where history tells us that there's about a fifty percent chance, you're going somewhere else, Jaanus and the reason I say that is not anything that you've said, but just look at the first second and third team all NBA teams. Half the guys that comprise those fifteen players are playing on different teams now than they were even a couple years ago. Paul, George was pacer two years ago. Kevin Durant was with Oklahoma City three years ago. Quite Leonard was a spur this time last year. Kyrie Irving been in Boston, two years after starting out in Cleveland, we know lebrons history. Blake Griffin got traded to Detroit last year. Kimball. Walkers, probably leaving Charlotte is if you believe some of the things that you read. So man, this is the world we live in even James harden was started his career. And okay. See, I know most people associated with the rockets. Stay for the rest of the press conference man. Give a generic answer move onto the next question. If indeed. That's why you walked out. Maybe if you had been walked out didn't answer, somebody's question. Because you like an article that they wrote, I don't know what to tell

"Listening to the Sean Pendergast show. You can tweet me at Sean Pendergast at Sean T Pendergast here shown Pendergast. You can't at Sean Pendergast till the top of the hour that I'm turning off Twitter. I don't wanna see any game of thrones spoilers. We've been talking Tiger Woods quite a bit tonight. And it's been fun. It's nice having tiger back in our lives in this capacity. Not talking about a dash Cam video or back surgery, or whatever we got Tiger Woods masters champion back in our lives. If you're on hold stay there. And a lot of you wanna talk about this. We'll circle back to it towards the top of the hour. Joining me right now to talk about Tiger Woods win. Today. At Augusta the first time in fourteen years. He's taking home the masters championship. Joining me right now, you can get him on Twitter at Michael on TV, Michael Williams of golf, WRX dot com. Joining me on CBS sports radio Michael the question, I've been putting the audience tonight who is the bigger winner today, the sport of golf or Tiger Woods. Wow. That's a really good question. What I say that is one of those great times where both are equally victorious. I mean, this is ten years in the making knows two thousand nine. Tiger started with his his personal troubles. As physical troubles trouble. At the game all problems with his back, everything you can name have led up to this moment. And for us all we had to do without him. And I feel feel that there's so much vindication for this guy. So people who really sort of just sort of just just just dismiss this guy even worth they disrespected him so much when he was down to happen offend to these heights again, which I sit on the air into Michael many times with never happened. And now that it happened. I just hope that he enjoys it as much as I do, Michael. What point today did you in watching him think holy crap? This is gonna happen. So I just wrote that article it'll be posted a couple of minutes on golf WRX. It's at the twelfth was walking around was walking around the back nine at Augusta. National with Robert Trent Jones junior in claim call architecture, but his father Robert Trent Jones guy who actually designed the the court on the back nine the way we know it now many of the whole all the water installing all the water on the back mind wasn't there before until nineteen forty eight on the twelfth coal which has just wasted. So many people over the years has just drown. Hope you all the way back to the fifties. Arnold Palmer up to speed years ago. When. Kepco there when Molinari fixable about tiger doesn't exactly with check Nickless it. Every Sunday masses is put that phone and agrees while in the middle and get that part. That's when I knew we're going to have Tiger Woods as masters champion. He that was the moment that we knew everybody else was crumley and tiger every other champion. He was he was just avoiding even. So he gets dragging. It was an awesome awesome right there. Twelve for me. Michael Williams, golf, WRX dot com. So Michael, so you were there. It sounds like one what can you take us into the experience of of being there for this momentous tournament on a Sunday tiger being back. Tiger winning was the was the electricity palpable at the golf course today. Well, correct. I wasn't on the golf course today. I was there earlier in the week. You can't read as their this week. Okay. There was a sense that something special was going to happen. This year was always a fuss about this being a historic year for the masters of so many great story lines coming into it. If you're paying any attention at all you would see the tire was was preparing to win a major championship soon. Anyway with him being paired in the final grouping with with Monari who had just managed to hold him off. Carnoustie the hardest golf course in the world, by the way. Tiger Woods was ready to win. And if there was ever any gonna win. It's the masters because of all his institutional knowledge is complete comfort on that golf course. And the fact that would say it does have the weakest feel of all the mazes. But it was to me it was if it was going to happen. It was all always gonna happen here. And you could see it even on Thursday. We had got walking through. There was a sense of purpose. And definitely he was carrying that was reminiscent of the win days when he was winning. I think that I wasn't there today. But even at the beginning that we sort of feel that this guy with with walking history. I know it sounds trite in coin not sort of thing. But that's exactly what felt like. And by the way that the app would happen. Yeah. Filling watching it on TV for sure. No question about that. Michael Williams, golf, WRX dot com. Joining me on CBS sports radio might my contention tonight. Michael has been one of the reasons why this is so good for the sport of golf. If this is the tiger that we're going to get for the foreseeable future. Is that he's great. But he's beatable and the lifeblood of this sport going forward is going to be creating new stars it becomes easier. I think in my opinion for the Dustin Johnsons and Brooks kept goes in Jordan speaks of the world to get that profile sport needs long-term if they're paired with and beating tiger on Sundays. What's your take on on tiger this version of tiger? And what he means to the future of golf with some of these other younger guys that interesting that you say that so Tiger Woods has now. He's sort of the the movies come later to win as the original. Terminator which was like unbeatable has now faced with improve. Terminator. A crazy. Terminator better at him. Higher is is having to battle that. Would. She have wrought these golf atomic times who are on the on the technology there on the crack men, they all their cystic. And by the way, they play in a few manner in the way that he taught him how to play. Now, he has to go out and play against all these freaks, and you know, what he's proven once again that no matter what the hardware does. It's not gonna be like this always what the hardware is no matter what the physical capabilities of chapter and Johnson. These guys higher software is unique is brain power his mind his drive. His will that which is always set him apart is unique. There's only a few people run that software. It's nicklaus. Five Jones has been HOGAN. We know who they are and other people for a couple of years Tigers headed for his higher life. So it's going to be great to have the best there ever was playing against guys who grew up trying to be the best there ever was if we get it for two three more years four five whatever we get it for. He was just for the rest of this season. Have this guy go out and compete at as where he made a historic Hebel beach where he made historic win and play the best major championship his wife leading the field in green hit and regulations. Playing the best major. Championship golf is. This is going to be fun to watch for this year. And a few years to come no doubt about it. No doubt about it. Michael. Who of those guys that are in that group that you talked about these golfing cyborgs that are products of the tiger era. Which one I mean, none of them are going to be tiger. I mean, I think we're only gonna see one Tiger Woods ever. But which one do you think is the most likely one to say when we're having this conversation ten or twelve years from now to say that guy took the torch from tiger. And he's become the the the mantle, you know, the the standard bearer for the sport. Who's the most likely in your opinion, honest to God? I don't think we're seeing right now onto her. Tiger has made lives for these guys. He's made life for them so easy that you can win one maybe to a major one major and you're set for life, you're making generational wealth. You're done that fit. Your find your g five for the rest of the G five claims. So these guys to be Tiger Woods you have to want to be with. I was with Dustin Johnson in rural beach this year when he was inducted into a Myrtle beef all hall of fame, and I asked him. Hey, Dustin, you know, Bobby Jones chasing, Walter Hagen. And then HOGAN was chasing, Bobby Jones and Arnold. Palmer was chasing HOGAN Nicklaus. With patients Homer and tire was tastes chasing, Jack face. How are you going to get to be guy who's up there on that Rushmore in doesn't Johnson? You don't really said choosing anybody. I just wanna go out there and play basketball. If I can't see how it comes out. That's the attitude. Today's player. They want the best. They can you. How it comes out was always if I don't win I will probably die. And that was the way that nNcholas was all those other guys that just mentioned, I don't see. I don't see the player out there that I don't see this the next the next tiger wood out there in this current group. PJ confessions real that's an interesting take Michael Williams, Gulf WRX dot com. Joining me on CBS sports radio. Michael, what did you think of the visual at the end after tiger one him walking down that human runway back to the clubhouse with his son Charley walking right behind him. Especially juxtaposed to the the video montages we'd seen with tiger hugging. Earl after that first masters win in nineteen ninety seven. I guess just your your thoughts on the emotion of that moment. Well, I would say that, you know, if you didn't tear up at that moment, you know, have your ducks check, you know, it's like. You may be down a point, man. It was it was. Just the cycle of life. And, but we all feel that if you get to be old enough tech again, it can seem sort of try to Coney of that sort of thing with these things are I think things happen. And so many times of tragedies. We talk about the cycle of life, and this one involved just something historic something so beautiful with with Irwin life is never been saying for tiger, by the way since his father die. I believe that was the moment. It wasn't anything that happened with his wife or any of this other stuff. It was when his father died who was his beacon. He was his everything. And he really was rhetoric without Earl Woods and for him to realize now that even though he has won the championship. The is sent things that nobody thought that he could do most important thing is now that she is that rudder for kids little his little girl. Again, if you if you don't get emotion from that one, and, you know, clear get the paddle. Man 'cause might be outta heartbeat. Yeah. No doubt about that. Michael. Last question before I let you go talking to Michael Williams golf WRX dot com. What's your forecast here for tiger over the rest of this golfing year? What kind of chances do you give him to continue to close the gap on on Jack? Well. Sports gambling question. But. He's obviously the banks after his press conference. But what does it tell you about your chances of winning the US open when when when majors again, and he said, I think I'm ready to win maters? I seem to remember having just one one he's he's there. And there's the city advantage for him because he is weighing courses where he's had success before on the next to the next maters. Yeah. Well, next to yes. That paid at the PGA championship. And you have the US open scored tremendous victories. But he's playing very different this time. Previously. He was overpowering. The course over powering the field now he's playing like Jim cyrillic with a turbocharger which is always what he needs to do hit. Lots of fairways hit lots of greens and be at least three quarters of the putter in the pledge that he was before with that in mind. I think that you have to count the monks favorites hitting green hitting hitting fairways amongst invite on any track right now. I think he's one of the favorites point any event he steps foot on right now as long as hell of a summer. No doubt about that. Michael williams. Yeah. Absolutely golf, WRX dot com. You can get him on Twitter at Michael on TV Michael. I know it's a busy Sunday for you, man. Really? Appreciate you making a few minutes. I enjoyed that conversation. Thank you. Oh, baby. If you were here you'd be having to sell Batory drink with. You got that? Right. My man for she ate at Michael. Good stuff. That's the first time I've ever talked to him. And yet I feel like he's known me forever because I would be having a celebrate Tori drink. All right. We wind down our number three. We start off our number four taking your calls. Tigers win today. Bigger win for golf bigger win for tiger tiger's comeback, whereas it stack up NBA play-offs to.

"This is the Sean Pendergast Joe good night to talk sports with all of you wherever you may be across the country with you for the next four hours with no shortage of topics to get into on the shelves. Sean Pendergast is on the air. No, Sean Pendergast isn't on the air tonight. Because Indy weirdest of ironies Sean Pendergast from Houston, Texas is now in Boston Massachusetts, where the Celtics just threw up all over them selves against the Houston Rockets, the completely gutless Houston Rockets, by the way, which you guys love to score but don't love to win. So the guy from Houston is in Boston and fifty miles south from where he is where I am in providence. I am in for the guy who lives in Houston. But is in Boston today watching basketball, I am grass in for Sean Pendergast. You normally catch me two to six on Saturdays here on CBS sports radio. But I got your tonight a gel ten in the east and seven in the west coast to coast border to border and in America's hat known as Canada and the NFL draft combine has. Taken place this weekend where people from across the country. I'm talking about football people from across the country have swarmed into the city of Indianapolis where they are looking to poke prod question put through the paces try to trick them try to fold them. Try to find a way to get these guys to trip up in the only public job interview that really is out there, at least in my opinion, any way where just millions of people from across the country get to watch you whether it's on television or on the old Twitter verse or on the Instagram. I don't think it'd be Snapchat worthy. At so many people just putting a bunch of pictures with emojis and things over their faces or whatnot. But at some point this weekend. I am sure that the overwhelming majority of people who can hear the sound of my voice right now. Have consumed at least a snippet of NFL combine draft content. You know, you did in. It's okay. Because I know what happens. I know what happens all the time where you get the boy, do I really wanna be the guy who sits around and watches. Oh, I don't know a bunch of dudes run around. And I can't justify it to anybody. Like, why am I watching these people run around in they draws it's because you want to see people like de que Metcalf at what six foot four and two hundred thirty pounds running ridiculous forty you see guys like Andy Isabella from UMass called India Isabella games for years. And now everybody's waking up to holy cow. This guy's really good, man. I've seen it make plays at Tennessee and other places he blazes afford. And everybody goes crazy. There's all of the talk about Cuyler Murray and the number one picking the draft potentially being spent on him by the Arizona Cardinals. So it's out there. We have all seen at least a snippet of it. And I wanna home this in a little bit to start as I'm gresh infra. Sean Pendergast on the Sean Pendergast show on CBS sports radio. So here's what I have for you tonight at eight five five two one two four CBS eight five five two one two four two two seven. I tweeted this out on Twitter at the real gresh GRE S H saying that you know, we're gonna play who needs quarterback tonight. At least the start and the way I evaluate some people's football teams may just be a little different than fans in the individual markets feel about their quarterbacks and their football teams. Because look when Cuyler Murray goes off the board number one, and I'm not going to be one of those people. It's going to sit here and tell you that isn't going to happen because I think it is going to happen. Because normally there's a quarterback in the draft that everybody gets horny four and they chase them like they're the hot girl at the end of the bar because coaches can't help themselves evaluators can't help themselves. They see a guy like Cuyler Murray lead in the pencil, and they are looking for someone to write home to. And that's the player they want to write home to is Cuyler Murray. And I think that the cardinals will talk themselves into taking him at the. Top of the draft. But if the cardinals have a brain in their head what they should be doing right now is a lying to everyone. They should just be out now lying to people and telling everyone Josh Rosen as our quarterback we like this guy, and then tell people behind the scenes Alison wheel like him. But you know, if you're want him you can have this guy because we have options available to us. But I haven't heard any of that. It's been a lot more of the speculation around. Arizona falling in love with Tyler Murray. But in front of me right here. I have the list of the starting quarterbacks for every NFL team. Now, you may hear your team, and you may hear your guy, and you may hear me say something negative or positive about said player the you may disagree with. That's why you can just grab a line at eight five five two one two four CBS. So I'm probably going to go here in alphabetical order. But what I really want to do is figure out which teams really should be thinking about spending a first round pick on a quarterback if they feel comfortable with one of the guys in this draft. So there's Arizona right now they have Josh Rosen. I think they're going to take Cuyler Murray. So let's put Josh Rosen in the could be had quarterback pile. Matt Ryan with Atlanta. No issue there. Lamar Jackson Baltimore. Buffalo drafted Josh Allen for better or worse at Carolina, you have Cam Newton in Chicago, Mitch Trubisky. All those teams are good that gets me going via alphabetical order to the Cincinnati Bengals. You have a new coach. The Cincinnati Bengals that I would bet ninety percent of sports fans or people. I would say this. I would push it to almost ninety eight percent of the sports fans outside the greater Cincinnati area. Do not know and could not pick the Cincinnati Bengals head coach out of the lineup. Am I right because I know a bunch of you are sitting there right now going oh, man. Who who is the head coach who is who is this guy. Could I pick them out of a lineup? Zack Taylor could probably walk into your backyard. And you would ask him. Can I help you? Because you would think he would be someone that would be lost. But what Zack Taylor in as the head coach now? And he's a quarterback's guy who comes over from the Rams, what do you do about thirty one year old? Andy Dalton I think it's time for them to move on from Andy Dalton in Cincinnati. I'm putting that's the first team that I'm putting in say they should be looking for a quarterback in the first round. So Andy Dalton goes into the pile. What Josh Rosen of quarterbacks that could be had yet. Baker Mayfield and Cleveland. Yeah. Dak Prescott and Dallas. Joe flacco in Denver. Now. Here's here's the Robin. All of this is that the Denver Broncos should be using high currency to go get themselves a quarterback. The problem is there. Already paying case keenum. They bring in Joe flacco with a big number. You could argue that they may be don't have the salary spot to be able to give to a first round quarterback who would more than likely come in and sit behind Joe flacco. Nevertheless, the Denver Broncos need that guy long term. And I put them in the group of teams who should be who should be in the first round quarterback business. I am gresh in for Sean Penn to gas on CBS sports radio eight five five two one two four two two seven who really needs a quarterback in the National Football League. I got you right now in Cincinnati and Denver. Here's another team. That is open for discussion thirty year old Matt Stafford from a contractual standpoint, Detroit, probably stuck with him. But from a winning and losing standpoint are we at the same point with Matthew Stafford that we are the Andy Dalton. Yet. I think Detroit is not gonna spend the first round pick on a quarterback. But that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a healthy amount of discussion there Detroit. Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay to Shawn Watson in Houston. Andrew luck. In indianapolis. Blake Bortles in Jacksonville gaping spot on that roster. Jacksonville's gotta be on the list. Then you have homes in Kansas City. And I'm going to jump around here. Just a smidge with the Rams you have Jared Goff. You're set in Miami. They clearly need a quarterback. They're on the first round lists. No question. Minnesota with Kirk cousins at thirty years old. To me, they're in that draft guy in the second or maybe even early part of third day range, they're stuck with cousins because of the guarantee, but that is that's the situation a lot like Detroit. How long do they stick with someone like that? Yeah. Breezing orleans. You have Brady New England, and you have Phil rivers with the chargers. Those three organizations are in very interesting spots because they have quarterbacks that are still upright functional and playing a really high level of football. But we know that father time is closing in Brady will be forty two next year. Breeze will be forty next year. Phil rivers will be thirty eight during next season. It's a lot of age. But those are three guys that you know, if you had to go on a shortlist of a gimme a quarterback in Super Bowl who I think get it done. Those are three of the dudes that you're thinking about then there's the New York football giants America who have Thirty-seven-year-old Eli manning and a general manager who I think strengthens the offensive line thinks that he thinks the quarterback will play better. The problem is the giants made a disastrous choice. Head coach with Pat Shurmur a coordinator. Yup. I head coach. No. Nevertheless, the giants are in that. Are we really going to spend the number six overall pick on a quarterback when we're trying to win now. And if we can protect the guy we have he can probably still give us twenty six touchdowns and thirteen interceptions on the year. So the giants are a big question, Mark. The jets are said with Darnell Oakland set with car. Philly set with winds Pittsburgh set with Rothlisberger Seattle. And Russell Wilson San Francisco. Jimmy Garoppolo that gets us. The Tampa Tampa hired a head coach Bruce Arians because Bruce Arians walked in the door and said I can win with that guy. I still think Tampa has a big question to ask themselves. They fall in love with a quarterback. Do they want to bring him in knowing that they could boot Winston out the door halfway through the year, or at least booed him out of the job? And with a new head coach at a new quarterback, maybe bring life or you know, breathe some life into that organization. And then finally as we go through the teams that really should be in the first round quarterback business. Come the NFL draft yet, Marcus mariota in Tennessee? I think he's safe. You have the Washington Redskins. Now. The Redskins have a middle of the first round pick. I have a creative solution for the Redskins that I will get to. But they should be looking for a quarterback. So here's what I have Cincinnati. Denver jacksonville. Miami, Washington, New Orleans New England and the chargers are all a separate discussion. And then there are those teams like Detroit Minnesota the giants. I don't know. How many raider fans are listening who say I'm not in love with Derek Carr. I don't know why you wouldn't be quite honestly, I think the guy can play. So we've gone through the league, I'm giving you the teams that I think should be in the first round quarterback business and is Carlo Murray worthy of the number one pick in your mind. Eight five five two one two.

"Radio on a Sunday evening. I am Sean Pendergast to be with you eight five five two one two four CBS. If you want to get in on the phones, we will get back to the phones in just a bit. But right now, the biggest story one of the biggest story certainly in the NBA is the saga of Anthony Davis in the New Orleans pelicans. And to talk about that joining me on the show right now, he is the beat writer for the times picayune for the New Orleans. Pelicans, Nola dot com. NO L A dot com. The website, of course for the times picayune, and you can get him on Twitter at underscore. Andrew underscore Lopez. Andrew Lopez joining me right now on CBS sports radio. Andrew how you doing tonight? Doing pretty good man doing pretty good. You put up okay right now. It's got to be a crazy few weeks. And I guess let's start there. How would you categorize the vibe around this team right now? You know? I it's weird. I mean, we're it's probably the best way to put it right now because it's so many different things going on. And obviously we haven't even been around the team since Doug dense was fired on Friday. Everybody's gone since that. But but even before then. You know, the locker room has seemingly been okay with the Anthony Davis situation. Asking for a trade. They have been around him. He took them to dinner. I think the night after the trade they have been fine. They say the right things in the locker room. Nobody has said anything. You know, negative about him. But you see it playing out maybe a different way with the front office with the coaching staff. And obviously, you get it to Alvin gentry calling the entire situation a dumpster fire the other night. So some things have changed, but the locker room itself seems to be United. It's once you get out of there that things don't are fitting the right way. Well, and we see a plane out with the fans with the of Anthony Davis. I mean, if someone had told you a few months ago that New Orleans fans will be booing Anthony Davis in his home arena. You probably thought they were crazy at the time. I would imagine. Even through all of the booing the person, I was was was pretty bad. Let's just put that out. The first night was bad. Booed him from the tip. Everything was was just. You know, kinda what you expected then. There was another set of fans who was we're gonna we're gonna cheer him. And we were allowed her by the time. Now at originally every time he touched the ball. He was getting booed. I it was it was a parental night. After that things started to get better. Second quarter, you okay? You didn't really hear any booze? Starting you know, starting in the second half. He scored thirty two points. Everything fought they lose the next two games, a bad one to Memphis, and then a bad one to Orlando. A little bit of Atlanta game pass game. They had against Oklahoma City. I want more booze. Time around. But I think it's just if he would have handled this a different way if they were just said, you know, what we're gonna do this at the end of the season. You know, I don't I don't wanna be here anymore. We're fine. The fans would've would have almost understood if Dell was still going to get out the fans would have been like, look, you know, he's screwed it up eighty wants to win. We get it. But the staying around is kind of what has. Love people. I think the wrong way throughout this whole thing. Yeah. And I'm talking to Andrew Lopez covers the New Orleans pelicans for for the times picayune in New Orleans. I guess is this something that the the trade demand or the the open? I guess the open statement that he he's not going to sign a contract extension in New Orleans. I mean, it we know that in some of the smaller markets in the NBA it's tougher to keep these big stars. At history tells us that that a lot of them are going to maybe want to move on to different situations where we've seen instances where stars like to collaborate in cities, and and kinda gang up with some of their buddies and things like that. And I think we know that for Anthony Davis the Lakers appear to be at the top of his list. Is this something that that you that you folks in New Orleans maybe sensed or saw coming at some point or was the trade request and the the declaration of no contract extension something that caught a lot of people by surprise. It was absolutely something that I think people Saul coming. I think the timing. Maybe is what kind of call a of people off guard. You didn't necessarily think it was gonna come make everything we kind of heard. But if he was going to do it. It was going to be after. The season. And the timing is I think what what kind of threw people for a loop. And basically, I mean you played out. It was it was a strong arm attempt by. My Rich Paul to try to force the trade to LA knew that was going to be L A's best chance. And now once the season's over, you know, obviously, Boston can get into mix the Knicks possibly get in the mix with with some packages. The clippers have made themselves a player in this. You know, maybe a good team. Like Brooklyn finds a way to get into. It mean a lot of things can happen at the end of the season. Now. Yeah. And Anthony Davis mentioning within the last couple of days that hey, I never said Boston wasn't on my list. Do you believe him? No, not not really the the only part about that that I that. I truly believe this when he says, I believe in his in his mind, there are two separate lists. The the list that he will sign with long term, which is still a probably very small list of what he was saying yesterday is essentially, I'll take anybody. He doesn't matter when you know, twenty nine teams are on my list. I just you know, and then he always follows it up with but he's gonna end up playing. He's got to play out his free agency. So that's where I think it. The disparities in the list come from. I don't I don't think she's actually really thinking about it. I think what what he's really saying is there's yeah, I'll go anywhere next year. But know, twenty twenty I'm still going to be a free agent. I'll go out one Andrew Lopez covers the New Orleans pelicans for the times picayune. He's joining me on CBS sports radio. You mentioned Dell dams, and I think his termination puts an interesting an interesting variable into the mix here for two Dem's questions. Andrew, I I wanna ask you when when the news came out. I think it was Brian Windhorst there reported it that the damps was. Kind of upping the price tag from the Lakers pre-trade deadline just to cause some locker room strife with the different trade. Rumors getting leaked out which basically involved everybody except LeBron in that locker room. Seem to have an impact that was his goal. It seemed to work because the Lakers have not exactly been team harmonies since all these rumors started popping up about these Davis trades as well. Do you? Do you buy into the the the theory that Dell dams who's doing things to to mess with the Lakers? And if so what was the what are the pelicans fans in New Orleans? How did they feel about that? Did they feel like okay? Well, at least David got one in on Goliath here. That's that's kind of what the fans have have have have said handled pretty happy about that. They liked the way he handled situation. When you when you look at it overall, that's kind of what they just wanted to hear. I mean, they they wanted somebody to stand up for them. They wanted somebody to be. To push the bully around. And that's what it was. They felt like they were getting bullied in situation. And they wanted somebody to stand up for them. And I think that's what they got. You know, he he he was out there. He stood up. He he was out. This is how it's going to be. You know, whether you like it or not and do I think he was doing it's it's a screw locker room up. No. But I think he was because he was playing out publicly. Hey, let me just ask you what I can ask for this. Let me ask you this. And eventually, maybe if they would have thrown in the shack statue. Got done. But you know, he was he they were asking for things I think without the intent of ever doing it. Yep. I would agree with that as well. My follow up Dem's question is now that he's gone. What do you think they're looking for in the next general manager, and what kind of job is this general manager walking into is it a good job because you're walking into a situation where you know, you're gonna have to trade Anthony Davis. You're going to get the best package you can. And you start over from scratch, or is it a terrible job because you've got to trade Anthony Davis one of the best players in the league. You know, I think for a GM who wants to make their own Mark. I think it's a great job because you you can kind of shape this team how you want. This is your team. This is what you going to be able to build you, can you can be what you want. And I think you know, Gail Gill Benson. The owner is going to want to go out there and get her her own guy in in the sense that you know, even even when the Bentsen's bought the team in twenty twelve twenty thirteen they'll was already here, and they just kind of kept him along. I it would be much more. It would have been much more surprising for me if they would have got rid of Alvin gentry who Benson? Loves and today, they know what he's done. But to walk into a situation where you're going to get complete control right now, you know. The new person who will run. This team is going to report directly to me are not reporting to Mickey Loomis Mickey Loomis GM of the saints is kind of had that title. He's moving on. He's gonna be more of a consultant if anything kind of Oklahoma fourteen is like, a minority owner there to relay things from from the, you know, the ownership he's not gonna do anything else who you're wanting into a situation where you were going to get control whether you're hired as the president of basketball operations, or whether you're hive is the general manager you will have complete control of the situation, which I which why I think it's going to be a good job..
Manny Machado to Dodgers, Kawhi Leonard to Raptors

Has done baseball wagering is not exactly the most, compelling topic there are some good things to dig into Dr. J. because we have two huge trades this week both in baseball and basketball within the same twenty, four hour period Kawhi Leonard got traded to the Toronto Raptors in Manny Machado got traded to the, Los Angeles Dodgers those, are things those are events that. Affect that affect. The odds that affect the. Chances of those two. Teams going on and winning a championship Kawais effect is more profound than Manny Machado affect Kawais effect on, the raptors. More profound than Manny Machado effect on the dodgers but, those were both big huge. Trades it happened this week. That we have to sink our teeth into..
