"So, you know, you would have had a lot of people bet an alternate spread on Kansas City. You would have people betting heavier Kansas City moneyline. When Kansas City got down early, then people were going to jump in on them again. So yeah, that's the fun of it. And that's kind of the uniqueness of the playoffs when we get to this point because people's tickets aren't games that are running at the same time, so they can make decisions in between the kick-off if they have a ticket going. Best part is nobody's doing that with emotion, either, right? It's always clearly thought when it's stay cool and bet responsibly is what we like to say. All right, Bengals, chiefs, forty-niners, rams, what do you like them both sides? I mean, it doesn't matter what anybody likes these days because they always get thrown in the blender. But I think I'm gonna, I don't know if it's recently biased or not, but I think I'm gonna still have to go with the underdogs here. You know, 7 points is a lot in a playoff game. We were kind of writing off Joe burrow and the Bengals last week going on the road. We came up with all the reasons why they couldn't win and they were great again. So to keep it within 7 as a straight bet, yeah. You know, I think that spreads probably about right. I think we will see some action command on Kansas City as we get closer to kick off. And this boy, this brand's forty-niners storyline is really interesting. I mean, all the success that the forty-niners have had against the rams in the last few years, this season included, they're always underdogs. It doesn't matter. Even though we think that the rams are star studded and that much better. So and we keep writing off Jimmy Garoppolo and sure, maybe he's not the guy that got it done for the forty-niners in Green Bay, but he's here. He's in the game. He's one of four guys left. So I don't know. I'll probably do some sort of teaser with the two underdogs and hope that it works out. I really don't know at this point. I'm looking forward to it though. Have you written your Sean mcvay tweet that it's in your draft that you're just ready to send out? I know you've got one in the head. It's just copy and paste every single week. The guy that's the same thing. He calls a timeout when he doesn't need to, it's all about him. Listen, I'm sure Sean McVeigh is a nice guy. Or maybe it's not, maybe up on this that it cracks me up week after week. I just love your account on it. Watching him coach so watching him coach just drives me crazy. I just don't know why he has to insert himself as such a big part of the game. Just let your players do the talking. And as you said to Jimmy Garoppolo, he's one of four left. Yeah. I was ready to jump on the Brady bandwagon though if he were having a bit sweet. Let me all right buddy. Well, thanks for doing this. There's always I'm looking forward to the weekend and I know you are too. Thank you. Absolutely guys. Take care. Your Vegas, Chris, don't.

"Detroit in a way that I think that I think I could see it if it was phony and it's not, it's not phony with Dan. That's my take. Yeah, there's a handful of other coaches if they broke down the auto industry. Deal in Detroit, I would be like, they would just keep it moving. They would just keep it moving. Yeah. I'd be like, wait. What? Okay, so shout out to Troy and all that. Anything, I don't know. I feel like it's a dumb question to even ask you, be like, hey, is the rams after the Tampa win? They're like, all right, this team is for real, and it's been a really bad month. Diana rosini was really on this though where I don't think it was the usual bumps and bruises where it felt like Stafford was dealing with stuff that's a little bit more excessive. But again, a lot of guys are, so you never know how much that plays into the performance, but the performance was bad and they beat a really bad team. So I don't know. Yes, Steven Ruiz watched this game pretty closely yesterday and we actually talked about it. And he had said that they were doing a little more under center. They were pulling their guard a little bit more. They were doing some things that were more creative, but it wasn't all that different. So tej Seth who I think does analytics at the University of Michigan said that so this was the big stat that came out a week ago. It was that under McVeigh all time in Los Angeles, weeks one through 8, their second in the NFL and offense. And weeks 9 through 17 to 19th in the NFL in offense. So there's always a regression in the second half of the season. And that could just be the lack of adjustments. We've seen Sean McVeigh is so good at everything, but he's not good at in game decision making, and he's not amazing at kind.

"That's part of just being a good play. Call it right leg. If the ever an issue with andy. Reid sean mcveigh or couched in handling this. Exact act is still kind of learning how to adjust off of his original plan. Like it worked against the vikings or worked well enough where didn't really need to be adjustments but the justice kinda came too little too late against the bears and as far as the deep shots go like. Yeah we wanna see. Borough launched deepens instruct out the defense a little bit more but again. He can't really do that in an offense that's predicated around these short routes these confidential empty. So i do think that we will see borough under center more. Maybe the utilize more bootlegs and stuff to get out of occupied more comfortable in extending plays like that. So i think we'll see adjustment in that sense but you'll still see empty sets than you'll still see fans kind of on the edge of their seats. Whatever happens yup they're gonna have to shake the predictability of some of the things that we saw last week and also. I think borough has a lot of confidence in in his wide receivers winning these contested catches in throwing into these tight windows in. You know. I think that is part of it. Where that frustrating. Interception on the side to t- higgins where he just. I mean the defender was all over it and now i think he still has has Guy he's got. He's got a lot of confidence not only in his own abilities but of that of his receivers. Let's go to another one on the believe it or not john. I've got one here this week to me and i don't i guess we could be over dramatic about it. We've probably asked this question a bunch of times in zach. Taylor's tenure is. Is this the most important game in zach. Taylor's coaching career coming up. It's week three. I know it's over dramatic. There's he's probably got Regardless the whole season even if this thing spirals out of control. He's probably got the whole season to work with your but expectations. Not only to be competitive. Maybe even sneaky playoff good but expectations to be competitive expectations to win. Division games win division games on the road. It's the steelers. Is this in how they played last week in. Las is the most important game in zach dealers coaching career. At this point so this is interesting so this is interesting because none of us expected what happened last december to happen when ryan finley read option man ran over the steelers and somehow won that game like that. That win i think became the most important win in. Zach taylor's tenure. Because it may or may not have saved his job for how crazy impact that it was on the end of that season but yeah like this is now your three so the losses become more dramatic in more crucial to the status of his job security but there are higher expectations for this bengals roster for this team at this point to compete against that team on the other side of the ohio river like There's definitely argument. I think. I don't think it will be the most important game of the season when we look back on it but as of now as a guy who's only coach three or four games. This is his thirty fifth. It might actually be the most important considering the questions that are arising now about his credibility as as coach like. I thought about this on monday. The one thing that he had going for him is that he's a player's coach right. He takes feedback very well. He's very open. My gain talked about like he knows how to treat his bed. He's very open with with criticism with with feedback with his players. Open line of communication..

Panthers' Matt Rhule Is Making a Bid for Best NFL Coach This Season

"I wanna talk about the best young coach football. And it's not necessarily sean mcveigh. It's clear that it's not only an indictment on the new york jets operation. But what you're seeing was sam darnold in the carolina. Panthers is pretty remarkable the knock on darnold out of college there to know with too comfortable wins but the knock on darnold out of college and i watched every snap was his accuracy issues. What does he completing now. Seventy percent of his throws. He doesn't make mistakes total composure. It would be easy to just say. This is an indictment on the jets but instead of just the negative side. Let's look realistically at the positive side. Not only has met rule made darnold more comfortable. This defense has twenty one quarterback hits and ten sacks in two games. What does that tell you. The culture of the carolina. Panthers is headed in the right direction. It also tells you. This is a remarkable stat on matt rule. The coach carolina going back to the beginning of last year. You will not believe this. Carolina leads the nfl with the fewest. Three and outs that with teddy bridgewater and start with. Sam darnold. nothing about that not mahomes. Not lamar jackson. Not tom brady. Not derek carr not matt ryan not russell wilson not aaron rodgers. No the fewest three and outs matt rule. Teddy bridgewater and sam darnold but this is a offensive line. That outside of right tackle graded poorly left. Tackle all the way to right guard. What matt rule is doing with this sub optimal often. It's of line. The scarce number of three out the revamping rebooting of sam darnold is really mind-blowing

"Now are skater. Feels i'm scared. Like i mean like we could beat him but aren't like what is like feels. It's the unknown. You just don't know what what to really expect from fearless The other thing is the weird part is obviously this bears team. This bears defense has gone against you. Know one of the greatest minds in football with the la rams. We wanted sean mcveigh. They have players like we can talk about how they've had some deficiencies in. They don't look like the bears defense from before but they still have guys like They still have you know alec ultra. Who's been up and down right. But he supposedly planned solid. They have some guys. That robert poynton khalil mack. So we can't take them for granted you talk about eddie jackson. I believe the last time that he played ironically. When doll was quarterback. I believe that he had two picks game so they do have players. We can't take them too lightly. But i think the bengals just need to handle business. Worry about came hicks in. Expect him to play like we. Normally that bears defense will play. Because you don't want someone like khalil mack. Trying to record game or anything like that. But i think that the bengals come out here. Get the w. i think that we move onto to know. And i think that that's just what it is. I think that this team is legit. Now everybody's talking about oh. The bengals are going to make a statement week too. I think the statement was made one. This is the football gamer. Thought so you guys know notice. Don't checkout ages on it on your show is gotta show. Afc north talk. Make sure your subscribe to that gym. But there's a round table when we need more mangoes. Any road is a really good round saying who talks about all the different teams around the division in one of the status. They made the senate. This is our superbowl. Like nala are just a football air. We're a football game that we're going to win but everything that you just said lease to. We have to win special teams like we've been on in at the very least. Just make sure that we're on the correct status. Fill in that alone in that turning the ball over and shooting ourselves in the to me. You know that that's the thing about points you know.

"Monday, all one game left in week one, The Monday night or tonight in Las Vegas. Between the Ravens and the Raiders. So great to have football back disappointing bears game. I can't say I'm shocked or stunned by anything that really happened. I think it followed a pattern that most of us expected. Not a good week. One matchup for the Bears. Having to go to L. A. Where Sean McVeigh and his team's normally come out smoking hot. He is now 50. In season openers 50 straight up against the spread in his offenses average about 33 points per game. And that's exactly what we saw yesterday against a young bears secondary with a first time defensive coordinator, calling the plays Kind of felt like a recipe for disaster. Oh, and Andy Dalton quarterback, and that's kind of the way it played out. But Carmen and your co are here for you to talk. All things bears in NFL and boy, do we have a lot to cover? As we discussed week one Good kid. As always, You can bring us up at 3123323776 the number again. 312332 ESPN. We want to take lots of calls on this bears Monday hit us up on Twitter at Carmen de Falco and your co 64. That's your go with the J. And the number 64. I know you had a minor vibe on the game Bears money line and like you said, when David Montgomery rumbled down the right sideline for 41 yards to feel pretty good confidence was high in the urban camp. I'm going to be honest with you. Sitting there watching it and I'm like, Look at this Nice return special teams contribution. Here we go in Fetty gets his head in front of 69 69 tries to spin out. Obviously, there's a chasm in the middle. And look, Montgomery actually looks like he's got some moves going on. Good, good motivating the offseason. Look at this. Everything's good. And then it came time to get the ball into the end zone in the red Zone. What's this team been known for over the course years Red zone troubles, right? Trouble in the red Zone. What are we going to do once you get down into the red zone you bring fields in was did fields come in on that first one completed pass today wait for the second one. Fields completed a pass when they were down near the goal line. He did. And then you come back, and then all of a sudden, there he is. Andy Dalton wanted football in his hand, and he's going to go in the direction that just Right off the hands of the linebacker or safety That's sitting there goes up into the air and down in the hands of the defensive bags. Can I ask a question about that, too? I don't know. If you I tweeted this. I think last night or I know I tweeted a picture of the committee on the fourth down. How wide open come out was And he's still only one yard across the line of scrimmage with defenders breaking up on them once they commit to the ball. Yeah, so as open as he was, Yeah, I thought Allen Robinson. That's the one where he wasn't interfered on. Yes, that's correct. He was a little short, but any was in the ball was a little bit behind. But I still thought it was a ball that could have you know the Allen Robinson Pro bowler top 10 receiver. The whole world keeps telling me I thought that was one he should have been able to come down with. Um so I mean, you go to direction you're going to make it throw. It's got to be pinpoint. It's got to be accurate and you guys got to come down to catch that's it. Uh, call combat cold command. After the catch to me. I'm still waiting for him to be able to turn and then hold onto the ball every time he catches the ball and turns. I'm like this guy's either gonna drop it or he's going to fumble it so Still waiting for him to prove over the course of time over 20 catches that he can catch. You can turn he can run. He can be productive. So if you look at the still frame the end zone camera, I know the ball was tipped. I'm not sure where Andy got Andy Dalton was going with the ball anyway. If you look at the tape, but looking at the ball in the that went to the end zone. Yes, the tip the interceptions going to the second receiver, not the outside receiver. It was going to the second receiver. I mean, that's what the plan was car whether it was going to be into the Senate here, not the city's different different aspect, but it was not the outside but the second receiver, and it just looked like those guys were already to come off the receivers and go someplace else. You know, Once he locks in on a target, they were ready to fly. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, And that's why that guy was in a position to make the plan the tip ball he had departed once he saw the ball leave the hands. Department knew it wasn't going to his guy. So he's coming back to help that put him in a position to go ahead and intercept the ball. You know, Week one. We always joke like it is the Monday after the whole week after it is like a great overreaction week, we're going to see it in some of the lines. There's always a good money making opportunity in week two because of how the public sort of views certain teams and things and Vegas tries to accommodate itself accordingly avoided Vegas enjoy the weekend. You're because you know most people play favorites. Most people You know, play the popular teams that most people play the shock. Do you know what the chalk did this weekend? You know what the favorites are against the spread your go through 15 games 15 games. The favorites against the spread thinking is, uh, five and 10, 4 and 11. The favorites are 4 11. So far, this normally happens. The dogs kind of bark early in the NFL season favorites are four and 11 going in tonight. Eight dogs won outright 86 Road teams won outright We told you last year for the first time in the history of the league Road teams had a better record than the home teams. But that was also kind of a code area. You get your best effort. What did I tell you? One When does everybody think they can win the Super Week? One. This is what you saw, And that's why the dogs normally park so while week one reactions are normally Overreactions one way or another, it's not an overreaction to be concerned about mad Nagy's ability to call this offense about their ability to score. Because now this is 30, plus games of data going all the way back to really the second half of 2018. When the offense started taking steps back after the lead kind of figured out Matt Nagy a little and after Trey Burton got hurt. And then all of 2019 and all of last year we're talking 30 something.

Trey Burton Andy Dalton David Montgomery Matt Nagy Sean McVeigh Carmen Allen Robinson 15 games 3123323776 Las Vegas Ravens 41 yards Monday night Andy 2019 Monday Montgomery Carmen de Falco 50 tonight

"A couple of times and he almost lost that ball. I thought he did lose the ball and Akeem Hicks. You talk about Aaron Donald getting double teamed. Phoenix number two guy didn't double teams last year in the national football leagues, so they move it back to the three yard line. It's a loss in nine And now third down, 18 coming up for the Rams. Play clock is running down. The Rams are going to take a time out. Sean McVeigh is wandering down next to the officials. Click Lock down to down to one and there goes a flag they never call time out is only losing a yard game offense. Happiness is to his own remains. Third down, Robert decided not to take the time out. Just lose a yard and a half. Here is my answer will move it back to the 1.5 yard line, Third down and 19.5. Now for the Rams, this is going to be the best filled position that the bear is going to start with. You have to believe if they can get to stop here on third down, Stafford, back in the shotgun trips left single man right? Henderson in the end zone to Stafford's right, three down line up for the Bears. Here's the snap, Quick throw left side that's caught. That's Robert Woods racing outside the numbers, and we'll take it up to about the eight, maybe nine. Nine yard line. Will Kwan Smith? Fourth year man out of Georgia was sixth in the NFL tackles last year makes the stop. It's a six yard pickup and the Rams will put it away Symbol Webster, the former Rams will drop back to return the punch of Johnny Hekker. Yes, Smith was inside the hash.

"Three seven seven six eight eight eight say. Espn guys we've been talking a lot of nfc east but there is stuff happening out west earlier in the show i'd ask. The question is dak the quarterback facing the most or among quarterbacks facing the most pressure this year none of us thought that was the case for different reasons. But the guy i do think is facing the most pressure is matt stafford and i want you to get you guys in on this. Could you imagine it's it's playoff game number one week. One of the play offs and matthew stafford doesn't win that game. Could you imagine if after making the took a number one overall pick packaging to ones and a three the due to made a pro bowl or to. You know he'd been to a super bowl. They packaged all that to get stafford. Because this dude supposed to be the difference well he couldn't win in detroit. Never wanna playoff game. That's detroit all the sudden. Could you imagine stafford week one. Even if it's a sixty forty proposition that you win you might go ahead and lose the pressure on stafford not only to play well and make the playoffs but to win a playoff game this year. Who's under more pressure. J. j. who's under more pressure in the nfl right now. Nfc west. nobody. I agree with you but i think that just pertains to matthew staffer. I think that pertains to the whole rams organization. I think goes higher. That's between less need. And sean mcveigh. For the fact that jared goff had them super bowl right like they were right there. For whatever reason sean. Mcvay and jared goff couldn't get on the same page so you decide to do that. Packets less need buys into it for whatever reason and you make the call so this is a super bowl or bus year for the rams. I think that pressure just not. Oh matthew stafford but unless need. Sean mcveigh holy key. Is matt stafford under the most pressure. No i don't think. I don't think the pressure really is a matthew stafford at at at all right. I think it's on. Sean mcveigh enlists knee. When you're talking about the rams and the organization because they're the ones who ultimately made the decision to move on from jared goff in going get matthew stafford. Who quite you know to me. There's no difference between him and derek carr. But that's just me. There's many people in the nfl. That played a quarterback position. I would say. I'm crazy that i don't know what i'm talking about but when i look at them same to me. I don't see a big difference. You know. they love their matthew. Stafford can make all the throws and he's a fighting guy and he's tough and all the different stuff that they want to sell. You believe about him now. The is this the best team that he's probably ever been on most likely. Yes mo- yeah. When you when you have a guy like jalen ramsey on defense and aaron donald on defense and robert woods and cooper cup in those guys on the offense aside a ball They just went out and got schone. Michelle in a tray to the new england patriots to make up for cam acres. Yeah i think so. But it's not on him. It's on sean mcveigh. Who pointed to jared goff said you are the reason that we cannot advance in the playoffs. Although you did help us get super bowl and we did believe in you and gave you one hundred plus million dollars as our quarterback but we're gonna move on from you now and we're going to give up a hansa ransom to give a guy to get a guy who would only three lifetime in the playoffs. So it's on all right jay. I want to give you a basketball analogy. okay And stay with me here. Because i know it's a big difference in superstars determined in basketball in a way that they don't in the nfl and the nba versus the nfl. I look at damian lillard right. That do just smells like a championship. But he has that thing. He's a big game player but we know he's never been on a championship caliber not a championship caliber team. We're not holding that against him. Matt stafford has more fourth quarter comebacks than like anyone in his career right but we aren't talent he's always been like a top five ish kind of armed talent guy so we we pin it on the organization. My point is. Could you imagine if damian lillard was on a championship caliber team and got knocked out in the first round of the playoffs. That's how i'm looking at stafford. What happens this year will reflect on his legacy and shine a different light on it for us. One way or another to me. I what everyone saying about. Sean mcveigh you know the the zone outside zone blocking everything will be what it is. And he's inventive and all that stuff but to me. The pressure really is on the quarterback. Here i hear what you're saying about the daimler. But i can't really i can't do dame is like a top five player in the league. That's the only thing five top ten. I mean you. can you can battle it. You can battle. It can get to that battle if you wanna battle that. We today might be a top player in the league. I mean i love me some damian lillard. Let's not get carried away. You wanna go. There will be a top officer if he's not in lebron and katie are both clearly better than damian lillard. We can take that off the table right. Jaanus is better than damian lillard. Okay okay. I haven't embiid is better than damian. Lillard yokich is better than damian. I don't know about that really. Yes i don't know about starting to go anywhere was nagged this year. Yep max yup. I'm gonna stop you real quick because right now you just lost me when you said that the joker was better than the. Mvp they orient. That's your he that ain't my mvp. Look i love me some damian lillard. He was fighting it out with yokich but by the end of the season yokich was the mvp but by the way you can move off. I can move off those guys. I say i get james harden or damian lillard i take dame over james harden yes oh that's where you and i disagree okay james harden perennial perennially an. Mvp candidate damian. Lillard is not okay. And i love. I think that's the right now and they're both about wash. All i'm saying hardened game for game was the best player in the league. He's all i'm saying is with your analogy and i hear what you're now as you were saying. I just think of top players in the league. When i hear matthew stafford i don't know if i top qb's in the league and it's not a person. I wasn't expecting for it to go. That's that's where. I think it makes my point though. Matt max is that can matt stafford. It's yes the talent is there right. I don't know if the talisman considered to be at the top echelon of the league which i think takes away some of the pressure on him to a degree championship bill vehicle. But that's where i look at. What cunard talking about sean. Mcvay and less need because they're the ones that decide to pull the trigger on this for a guy like matt staffer for say. Hey ramps you're forced to take me day. Decided to take him. That's on them on them. And when you talk about matthew stafford in comparison to and i'll go back to the daimler. Comparison damian lillard elevates guys around him. He can't he's kerry his team is for. He had them in the western conference. Final okay matthew. Stafford is hasn't even won a playoff game quarter certain quarterbacks in this league nobody Several years ago how many some congresswoman lost three ago. So come on man maximo shot and he sent to paul. George was at the same year. I'm not They're bleeding together has yet to elevate his team like most quarterbacks in his league elevate stay right there he stay right there. That's what i mean. That's what i mean. He has all these comebacks. He has all this armed talent right. They traded so much for him and we blame a lot of the lack of playoff success on his surroundings. But what you just said is right. That's saying we we don't know for sure it's almost like an experiment like hold up. Timeout matt stafford given the right circumstances. Can you at least win off playoff game to me. That's pressure given everything. They moved to get them well. I'm i'm assuming he's going to win a playoff game or get to the playoffs. But that's not it for me when it comes to the pressure on him. The pressure on him has to get get them to the super bowl because the toss can he do with number sixteen with the lion on the side his helmet he got the rams to the super bowl did more pressure for that because because mcveigh got 'em there so that's where stafford f- i'm just saying the nfc west is abc. You could eat. One team has to not make the playoffs in the nfc west. Right like what someone's got to not make the playoffs. It's not impossible that that's the rams they're all really good. Eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six eight eight eight say. Espn we want to hear from you. What is the nfl game. We will learn the most from.

"Who's going to be catching balls out on the sidelines. Deep down the field. Here's much better to me with a strong arm. God can really get the ball downfield again. Good value at that thirty nine right off the edge of a wide receiver three. I wouldn't reach much higher. I wouldn't wanna pencil him into my lineup every week. So does that mean. You're on team judy. For the broncos. Receivers this yeah. I saw list of the guys. I'm very much on joe. I think this this could be second year. Don't be breakout Don't spoil it. Get the judy and a little bit. That all right. Let's move on and talk about. Darrell henderson Sean mcveigh says that. Even though they made this trade with with the patriots or sony. Michelle that henderson's going to have a very big role This according to andrew sicilian on twitter Sean mcveigh said that The despite the trade. The outlook for henderson has not changed. This is a player that they said was not going to play in the preseason. They weren't gonna put them out there yet. They still let him practice any screen thumb. That's a different story for a different day. But the issue here is. How do we sort of put our fingers on how much of a workload is henderson gonna get. How much of a workload is michigan. 'cause they're both going to factor into this office now. This is good news that that sean mcveigh thing. That henderson is is going to be big But how much of a share is henderson gonna have fetched when you look at. This is a sixty forty split. Is it a seventy thirty split fifty fifty split and then talk a little bit about who you think the right guy to own. As far as pass catching goes between henderson and michelle as far as the ppo. You're going to want dell henderson sony michelle. Even though i thought it was great in college. Out of the backfield catching the ball was not used that way in new england and he's perceived as more of a inside as a the rams have done the last few years there a one step cut type running team. That's the reason they liked camakers. They wanna guy that's gonna hit the whole they kind of had this weird fascination with occasionally playing malcolm brown because of the same thing they want inside hit the cut. That's why i'm down on henderson. I i don't think he fits this offense as well and specially with stafford. Because i don't think there's going to be much checking down. I think sean mcveigh has said..

"Joining us here on the program once again is One of the best Writers and interviewers and chroniclers putting it all on paper in the business. He's got a a book coming out in short order in october. I believe you can pre-order it right now about the new england patriots. It's better to be feared the new england patriots dynasty and the pursuit of greatness but Part of the reason why we're having a monitor just terrific interview with matthew stafford For the espn cover story. Seth worker shem back here on the show. How are you seth. i'm good man. how are you. i'm doing fine. I gotta tell you you had me at hello with the stafford interview and the way that you tweeted it out. I mean this is what jeff outlook i always. Enjoy your your your work. But i definitely clicked on the the line that you said is what is it like to do something professionally for twelve years. But yet not know. Just how good your at you are added. I mean that one really hit me to staff and really not know how good he is at football right now. South think that he has a lot of confidence but you know he. He wanted out of detroit for one reason. And that's because you know for twelve years all except for three of those twelve years. He was at home during the playoffs. And football is and always will be a late january and early february game and for most of you know nine out of those twelve years. He watched other quarterbacks. You know author their legend While he was at home. And i asked him at one point. I was like what do you want out of the rest of your career. And he was he was at an autograph signing He put down the pen and he looked at me and he said you know. I just wanna play in big games. I just want to make big throws against the top competition when everyone is watching rather than just like a one o'clock game you know during the regular season and i find that a really earnest and a really humble desire answer on his part and the other part of that is it. You know. he doesn't know how he's going to perform for the entire time he was in detroit. He was everything was on his shoulders. And now it's a little bit different. you know. rather than see what. His skill set can transcend. He's the missing piece on a team. That's expected at least internally. I mean it's super bowl or nothing for them and matthew doesn't know how he's going to perform on that stage. I think he's really eager. He's desperately eager to see what happens. So what did you glean from him. As to why he finally either mustered up the gumption or had enough of what he was dealing with in detroit to ask for his way out to finally just flat out go to ownership and say. Let's do this. It was really interesting because you know a lot of players. A lot of professional athletes is you know derive a lot of power and pride from kind of you know sticking it to their employer and with stafford. It was the complete opposite. He was almost embarrassed about it. He the regular season ended with a loss to the vikings. It was another wasted season. He knew that there was going to be another rebuild with a new gm and a new head coach. And you know even matthew. Even though matthew stafford was the franchise in detroit each time there's a regime change has to kind of find his way. You know what what's required of him. What kind of leader does he have to be in the building. And i don't think that he felt like he could do it. And so the night. After that loss to the vikings he told his wife kelly something that they had discussed before the season and that was asking out and He said i was going to do it. I'm gonna do it tomorrow. I'm gonna ask for trade. And then the next morning she enters their kitchen and he's emptying the dishwasher and he's quiet and he's carrying on an entire conversation with himself in his own head where he is reconsidering doubting his decision because in a very real way he looked at it like a failure if he was going to ask out you know he came to detroit in two thousand nine when both the lions were owen sixteen and the city were at its lowest and he wanted to deliver a championship there and asking that would be kind of epic concession. But you know by the time. He left his house that morning. He stopped by and he said to his wife. You know say a little prayer for me because he decided to go ahead and do it and he actually cried during that meeting all right. Tell me more keep going. I think that he is the thing that was interesting about it. Is that you know. He wanted a quiet and he was incredibly nervous. He did not want to play the league game against the lions like even though the lions had been kinda messed throughout most of his career there. Some of his best friends were there. They had paid him a ton of money. The team had helped his wife when she needed that tumor removed from her brain years ago. And you know. He liked his teammates a lot and so after he asked for the trade. The teams caught a little offguard by it. But after they hire head coach a gm they decided to proceed with it and he's nervous and he's just having a hard time with this decision like everything about it was just eating him up. Finally his wife says we gotta get outta the country. We gotta get outta here like we need to do something different. So they decided to get away to kabo for a quick weekend. He lanes in kabul. When you texas friend andrew whitworth who just happens to be the Offensive tackle for the rams and he says. Hey i'm here whitworth. Texas head coach. Sean mcveigh who just happens to be in kabul also and within an hour there a pool with cocktails and the next thing you know sean mcvay and matthew stafford or off to the side talking football while you know everybody else's kind of mingling and it was really interesting because sean mcveigh got down there. He's obviously dot in a great place. They're thinking about moving. On from jared goff and he's down there with his fiancee. After a long season. They just lost the packers in the playoffs. And sean mcveigh texts. The rams brass and he says you're not gonna f- believe this matthew stafford is here. They meet at the pool. They bond the next day. Sean mcvay is in his room at on vacation watching cut ups of matthew stafford on his phone and on his ipad testing the patience of his fiance veronica or one could argue investing in their mutual future. Onset were a day later matchy stafford around so okay based on on all of what you just said. He has this moment with his wife where he's just like okay. We were talking about it. I'm gonna do it. The it being going to the lions. To say i i want out. He does it in a tear filled emotional meeting. That was with sheila ward. Half is resident. Okay so and so He does that. They start the process. I.

Rams raiders six and a half point favorite. Total of thirty five. I don't think that the raiders have officially announced that car in the starters are going to play. I reached out to some people close to the team. Who said like they're expecting car. On the starters to play and i guess can the line reflects that a little bit with the rams playing their backups. The raiders nearly a touchdown favorite here against six and a half and thirty five wrote him. Do you think the market understands now. That sean mcveigh cares not one bit about playing preseason games this year and that jon gruden is actually one of the best preseason coaches of the current crop of coaches that we have it's like literally harbaugh and then him so if you're if you're ever wondering why the spread is that it's like you have a team that there was a couple hypotheses about why that's true why john gruden's like actually good preseason coach. "Guys. They're switching places. Jared Goff, who in his whole entire life even going into his professional life from growing up. It's a college to now playing in the NFL. He has spent his entire life he has spent his entire career. In California. No mass. Jared Goff is going to go play for the Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford is going to ply his craft. Guess this for an organization that will probably and actually give him a realistic chance at winning. It happens to be the Los Angeles Rams. I know head coach Sean McVeigh is doing backflips at the opportunity and the chance to coach the legitimate quarterback. It's a coach, a quarterback who is not gonna give the ball away to coach a quarterback. You can actually win. I'm sorry. I find a comical and I hear it. I've had the hear it for weeks and months, and people who want to tweet me in message me and reach out and all Jared Goff is is good. Or Jared Goff is is not all that bad. Showered office is average to slightly above average. And now Jared Goff. Unfortunately, going to the Detroit Lions, he's probably likely going to fall off the face of the Earth. My apologies ahead of time. I hope he proves me wrong. Not that he has to prove ah, damn thing to me, but I would like to see him work out. I just don't believe it's gonna be with the Lions. Head mask. Barry Sanders, how he feels. Go. Ask Megatron, who I believe is still fighting over dollars and cents with the Lions about how he feels. But we have enough time to talk about Jared Goff because in exchange for Matthew Stafford Hey, the lions. They begin kind of rich here. Get a first rounder next season, the year after that, this year, they pick up their third round draft pick, and you know the Rams, who just seemed to be a quarterback away from being better. They are better right now. And if you want to hear some frustration You know what a matter of fact, I want you to hear Sean McVeigh earlier this season he want he was He was legitimately talking about how Goff was hurting the team with his turnovers. Take a listen right here to Sean. Make Veii. Too many times we beat ourselves and we just have to play better. We're not taking good enough care of the football and that's something that's got to change. Otherwise, I'm gonna continue to sit up here and say this weekend and week out, and it just can't continue to happen. Yeah. But was anybody surprised if you aren't surprised that that that he was pretty much tired? Jared Goff. How about last week? The general manager of the ranch. The man's name is Les Snead, and he was asked just last week, a couple of days prides of this trade. On Saturday, he was asked about Jared Goss future as a ramp and he didn't necessarily have AH, Vote of confidence. Listen Oh, Jared Goff said. He's a ram right? Right now. So what's the day? Okay? Oh, January 26. I mean, that's that's a fact. That's obvious. He's Right. I mean, these number two and wins been shown of partnered together. I mean, that's it. You know, Tom Brady's got more And the things Tom Brady's doing. I don't even know if I could put that in words. I mean, So, uh, That's been a heck of a partnership. What I do know is that I think that the real thing that should come out of this is Hey, we want to be a better offense. And that that includes Jared. No. Damn! He's a rim right now. We want to be a better offense that includes Jarrett. And now Jared Goff. He is no longer a ram. When the league year kicks over in March. He is now going to be a Detroit line, and God only knows how long that's gonna last. But a man who basically had almost a Z many touchdowns. 20 as he did turnovers. That's about 19 turnovers. Last season. Jared God gave you He was selected number one overall in 2016, and now he's out the door. To say that he led this team or the Rams to a Super Bowl. A few years ago, I found almost comical. Didn't lead them there. He played a big part, but he had excellent offensive weapons folks like Todd Gurley around him. Sands. Todd Gurley? Yeah, Life ain't so easy now, is it? But Matthew Stafford, this is the man that is now going to have the opportunity to Sean Matthew Stafford will will legitimately play. In a city More specifically for a team. He can he's expected now. Go to the playoffs. He's going to play with the number one defense. And I know they have some issues and free agency. They have to figure out you know which corners will be returning to play opposite Jalen Ramsey. You have to think about whether Floyd can come back, you know, and and play off of Arun Donald. By the way, will be joining us later on this week. Whoever plays on the line when Arun Donald I'm not going to say that's an easy job, but God bless you. That's that's a pretty damn good one. So you swap number one picks here. Number one overall picks Matthew Start Stafford and Jared Goff. And Stafford, this poor guy in Detroit. Only four winning seasons this past year for the Lions. He goes five and 11. He still gave you 26 touchdowns 4000 plus yards. And Not so difficult when you just gotta Throw your way into every single game. He's only had three playoff games and his entire career. Losing to New Orleans and 2012. Losing to Dallas barely in 2014 getting beat up by Seattle in 2017. And for years for years, and especially folks in Detroit have called up and said this to me. Folks in Detroit have called up here and express their thoughts. They have pretty much, said. Hey, if Matthew Stafford played anywhere else anywhere else. Matthew Stafford would be talked about is one of the best quarterbacks overall in the leak. Matthew Stafford would be in that space of a Russell Wilson. People would be talking about him as a top five just straight at the top. Just because of what his talent level is. Do you know what he's not going to have to worry about a few years of Megatron? He's not going to have to worry about whether the Lions can bring back Golladay. He is going to be able to go to work. Show up, no, that his defense is going to keep him in games and he with his weapons, woods and cup, he's won't be able to light folks up. Who knows who else they add and free agency or who they tried to to sign. They ain't got too much leeway or or room. They basically given up their number one pick for the next million years. They haven't had one since they selected golf. This is all or nothing right now. For the Los Angeles Rams and the fact that Sean McVeigh can legitimately put a quarterback out there who can lead a team who is capable of playing some winning football and has the physical skills but unfortunately, play for the Lions. Saw McVeigh is probably going to go to town. And if you think about the way the NFC is currently constructed I'm looking at this.

"Where a team says to themselves were happy with what we invested. And that's why I think it's so important with Watson, where, yes, you go and you say I'm willing to overpaid because at the very least I'm getting a star back. I'm not getting is much of a fluctuating. It's going to cost me a lot more. But Jared Goff a year and a half ago Team deemed him smart football. People deemed him to be worth the most money they've ever paid a quarterback and a year and a half later, they couldn't wait to get rid of him. But that's a good thing because while they Sean McVeigh May have missed diagnosed. Who? He Woz. He found a way to actually move away from him once he could no longer in his world. Trust him. That's what he is, by being another middle of the road guy that we still don't know if he's truly great if he's just good. Well, I mean, listen. Now the pressure's on Sean McVeigh. I mean, so But the point is is once you don't trust the quarterback, whether you trusted in before and you thought that he would develop into something, and then he didn't become that guy. It's very infrequently that you're able to pivot and move and go into another direction. You know, we always talk about, you know, you know, Shoot your gun, go out there and make his many try to create his many opportunities as possible in the NBA. Go get that star wherever level That star is just keep trying. Like we always talk about that. Keep trying. That's why I think what Shaun McVeigh did I applaud him. If you didn't think that Jared Goff was someone that you could trust, Then you move away from him. That's a good point. As far as we've always said when you identify a guy can't do it just because you once believed in him. "It should be pointed out. Said in an NFL world where anyone who can prove they have Sean McVeigh in their contacts, becomes an NFL head coach. 16 months after giving that contract to golf. This franchise felt the on Lee way they could win was to trade him away. And to pay someone to ones and a three to take him off your hands. It is too at least some degree, an indictment. So I think there was enormous pressure now on the great Because this organization just did what the Eagles didn't Eagles didn't back their coach and trade away the quarterback that had all the questions and Carson Wentz they went the other way. Back the quarterback. Rams back to coach they went all in on McVeigh. Traded away their entire future. And they bring in Matthew Stafford. Next time it doesn't work. Fingers get pointed at the genius. Now, I will say, I think it does work. I think McVeigh is a great coach, and I think he will prove it. And Stafford is a terrific player and I think they will win big, but I do not think That means that the pressure is not all on him. The money we've invested that isn't easy to overcome, but anything can be done in a capped based System. Are they gonna try to trade Jared Goff in the off season? What's going on there? Well, that surely that just on the surface of that, and you know, Coach speak and front office speak as well as anybody. I mean, if if if if you're not gonna move on from your guy you never approach at Mark Murphy, The CEO of the package this morning, said Aaron Rodgers is going to be a packer. End of story. That's what you say when you want your guy, but it certainly sounds like They could move on from Jared Goff. But the problem is given his certain his current financial situation. I don't see a team that would step up and assume that contract I just don't. Well, I mean, we don't know. I mean, you're sisters, teams that need openings that are good teams. The Indianapolis Colts just at their quarterback, retired. What do they really think about Jared Goff? How could a man over the contract? I mean, a couple of years ago, Jared Goff was getting ready to play the Patriots in the Super Bowl. The Patriots need a quarterback. There's some really good teams out there in the NFL. They need a quarterback. But the point is, why would Sean McVeigh Lessen the value of Jared got by dropping the four now I mean, just say nothing, but he did not dodge it and less knee did not dodge it, he said. Anything can be done in the cafe system. S O. I know they're up against moving some money here. But as we get into Shawn Watson, and you're right, Mark Murphy came out to say, and Rogers is not going anywhere. And Aaron Rodgers, you know, showed up on bar stools sport today with Pat McAfee and kind of Backpedaled a little, but they're not gonna trade him. But there are guys that are gonna be about Matthew Stafford. Just flat out available. I mean, they've come to that conclusion. They're gonna move on from him and he wants out of there. So what the Rams Air saying here is really interesting, and he's not less need is not saying, you know, we were not or not. There's no way in hell. We're gonna keep Jared Goff. He's our guy, So they're sending a clear message to him that I don't know why you want to send this message. I mean, it was just minutes after they lost to the Packers in the playoff game. The head coach is saying is our quarterback for now. I mean, that's something you may say going into camp or in the middle of a year where you're trying to motivate him. Now, on the off season, it's starting to spin. So you know if the Houston Texans want to trade to Shawn Watson, where they want a young quarterback back now, we don't love Jared. God, but I honestly I thought he played well. In that playoff game against Green Bay. The guy's thumb was gnarly. He completed the high percentage he's through over the top, and he had the downward motion on the ball. Where could not be? I thought he threw the ball really well. In that game, considering what he was dealing with, and he had a glove on that hand, so I came away impressed. But there's something going on here with McVeigh and obviously golf and now it's upto less need to either try to marriage counseling or Irreconcilable differences, and they would put him on the market..

How about that? Would say. They're gonna lose No, although this has been the best coaching job that their coach Sean McVeigh has ever done. It's one thing to be a great offensive guru and to be known as a play caller. It's another thing to play to play call for a defense. As opposed to just trying to score a bunch of points. He has to call place to hold the ball and to limit the time the defense is on the field because the defense is the featured Side the ball right now. They have the two best players, maybe in football in Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald and the match up between them. And Aaron Rodgers is really going to be cool. Don't think that can be a bit. They'll be able to pull it out. Because I you know, even though it'll probably be a good game. I like that guy's ability to make a throw in the cold and the snow in the hail and it's hailing right now in Green Bay before I like Jared Goss ability to do it with him without a broker's 19 degrees there. 3 Fun Facts About the NFL Wild Card Weekend

"Card Weekend fun facts. Did you know that I did not notice the head coach of the Colts Frank Reich Greek Reich, right? Let's go with Reich. He looks like our friend Rob Chickering. Hi, every time we see Craig a sponge bag. That's not the fun fact. So the fun fact is like for those of you who don't know who to help Rob Chickering is that does not matter know the fun fact is Frank Wright was drafted by the bills from 1985 and he faces them this weekend in the wild card game that fun fact more. Fun fact, Amy and I weren't even born yet. That's more amazing fun. Right no choice. Oh, yeah. I mean fun fact number to Pete Carroll is 34 years and 131 days older than Sean McVay. So Seattle plays the Rams this coming weekend right? I know a dead. All right, so Pete Carroll 34 years and 131 days older than Sean McVeigh which sets the record for the largest age differential between opposing head coaches in a playoff game in NFL history. This is so dorky. I'm pretty convinced Joey said you that one because she's been walking around feeding me stats from the 2013 Seahawks season. Shoot me fucking shoot me dead. Yeah, so I didn't realize that a baby shot McVeigh is but he totally is again, we've been like, oh my gosh, like cradle-robbing with him. Yeah. He's younger than I am fuck off. Okay, I don't want let's not talk about it. All right moving on the one thing real quick remove on cuz you're talking about the Seahawks because of the masks. I miss Pete Carroll chewing like a maniac I miss seeing them come with you can't see it under his mask know remember when he'd see his mouth like this like I'm doing a search. Yeah. I look like a squirrel but like it's his mouth go Bonkers and the gifts were better that way now we're just looks dead. A mask that's vibrating. It's weird. Maybe it is maybe he's got some fun going on toward his mask. That's the mask. We need adds to the most everybody needs a phone. Next. Fun fact, fun fact number three Lamar Jackson won the MVP in 2019, but he lost in the playoffs to the Titans. Now, they face the Titans again this weekend and change history does not suggest that he will get revenge because each of the previous quarterbacks to lose a playoff game the year that they won MVP and then played the same opponent following year lost that rematch. So if you're going by that fact, you're looking at a Titans win,

"Don't even understand how we got this job after his lack of success in Miami, I guess being around Peyton Manning is enough to get you a gig. All you gotta do is stand near Peyton Manning or Sean McVeigh. And you, too, can be a coach in the National Football League. So that job opens up. I'm not going to do the whole rant on the Jets being the jet since Joe Willie Nemeth ran off the field at the Orange Bowl in Super Bowl three. But all you need to know about the Jets is who is the second greatest quarterback in the history of gangrene. Chad Pennington. Don't tell me Mark Sanchez went back to back F C title games that was the defense and lt in the twilight of his career. Ken O'Brien, one of the old school. I think I'm making my point. And Sam Donaldson seems like he's doing all the right things, especially in the media cauldron of New York City. But he is taking a beating, and we'll talk about this in the last hour. The program when we take around the league with Eric Adam of Yahoo Sports What is the future of Donald look like because the Jets are gonna have presume with the number two overall pick somewhere in the top three. They go quarterback. And they may be goes. Think about Donald as a reclamation project now with a new head coach. We know the Jets will be opening up after that. It's getting murky. So from my good with arithmetic, you do the math. I'll do the Alfredo, but I got five openings now as a running count. Chicago's going to stick and stay with that match. Nagy. We'll see what they do with Mitchell. Travis Key. Anthony Lynn has done just enough to keep the Charger job primarily because the Spano's family is incredibly cheap. He's under contract for next year. They're not going to pay him and his staff..

NFL reminds teams to follow sideline rules on face coverings

"The National Football League is threatening to find head coaches if they don't adhere to Corona virus rules requiring face masks on the sidelines. During the first weekend of games. Some coaches were saying not wearing coverings. We have the latest from NPR's Tom Goldman. In a Monday memo to the NFL's 32 teams. We'd executive Troy Vincent praised what he called the tireless efforts to make the season possible during the pandemic. But Vincent also warned those who defy rules unmasks everyone in team bench areas on the field except players has to wear a face covering in all times. Failure to do so, Vincent wrote, will result in accountability measures against individuals and or clubs. Those measures include finds during Sunday's nationally televised game between Dallas and the Los Angeles Rams. Ella head coach Sean McVeigh, often at his mask under his chin, while Dallas is Mike McCarthy wore his thie entire game. Tung Goldman NPR news

Buffalo Clinches Playoff Birth

"Your namesake team is in in the play offs. The bills I mean. I don't WanNa Brag Bill. Barnwell is a senior football writer at. ESPN he has consulted with NFL teams. But the bills are not in fact named after him. So tonight the buffalo bills beat the Pittsburgh steelers seventy ten clinching a spot in the postseason and bill. What's amazing about this team? Aside from being named after you Is that for most of the two thousands. They didn't even have a winning record but but now they have made the playoffs in two of the last three years during this rebuilding process. Where does this recent success begin in your mind? I think the simplest place for it to start is just hiring Sean McDermott. This is a coach. Who really seems at odds with with a lot of what? NFL Teens tend to do when they have head coaching opportunity. Pop Up Sean. mcdumber forty two wasn't like he was old but let's face face it every coaching opportunity. That's popped up over. The last three years has basically been. Let's try and get a offensive minded coach or someone who is particularly close to. Sean McVeigh and correct defensive minded coach the panthers weren't even coming off a good season they were six and ten and ranked twenty six points allowed the year before so the bills really took a shot on shark dermott top of that. The bills gave McDermott some level of personnel control. which teams are really it? Really Loath to do it. First Year head coaches but it worked. The bills had an excellent free agent period in two thousand seventeen and they earned their draft totally differently that year their previous previous GM Doug Whaley had repeatedly traded up in years past regrettable move. Sammy Watkins. Being the most notable one but damage first move was to trade down and and the first player he drafted was Davis White. WHO had a big game against the steelers? Last night tonight again squirts out of bounds around the twenty yard long. So why headed early picked in fact. We'll before McDermott joined the team in two thousand sixteen they had the twenty seventh best defense in the NFL according to football outsiders after that they started taking up up in now bill. It's one of the best units in the League. How did this defense gets so good so quickly? I mean just to keep it simple. They got rid of everybody pretty much. I mean. The fifty three players were on their roster for the final game in two thousand sixteen before Mcdermott arrived. There's three guys left in the Renzo Alexander Jerry News and Shack Lawson all front seven pieces. I mean everyone else. Fifty other players on this roster Aurora ellsworth point and the bills have drafted well. But I think what makes this team so interesting as they really go out of their way to get veterans from other rosters and saw seemed to get more out of those players in their previous teams games in their first free agent period Jordan play Mike Hide Jordan Philips for example comes to mind in recent years where he was a second round. Pick washout of Miami. The bills brought him in. He has nine and a half sacks this season as defensive tackle. That's really impressive. There's just a lot of players on this roster who either were good somewhere and have become great in buffalo or who really weren't playing very well at all or almost out of the League who have become regulars on this really talented bills defense so last year the bills. Roll the dyson Josh Allen in the draft trading up to take him seventh overall despite his lack of college production in his rookie season was pretty underwhelming warming. Bill Fifty two point eight percent. Completion percentage just five point four adjusted guards per attempt. It seemed to me that they approached this off season with a really concerted strategy to build around him in free agency. Signings worked out for the team. It's been really good. I mean it's really the same philosophy sophy we saw on the defensive side of the ball. Those have had fifteen players. I not on offense for at least twenty percents of the snaps. Twelve of those guys are new into the roster. It's both running backs. All three of their tight ends five of their six top offensive. Lineman you know in a League where so many times you hear here that a team should sign a player or they actually do sign a player because they know the system quote unquote the bills. Sort of realized. Hey we have coaches who we pay to teach each player's the system. We should just go get those guys instead and so many of those players are playing in a high level and I think. It's really been perfect for Josh Allen Alan who even going back to Wyoming. He had to play hero ball. He had to sort of make big plays for his team to win. And we've seen a totally different quarterback this shear. I wouldn't argue. Allen is finished product but he's been productive quarterback this year a using his legs to create opportunities. He's hitting a lot of intermediate passes when he didn't do that last year. And he's avoiding turnovers man after throwing four interceptions in that really frustrating loss the Patriots week for this offense. Turn the ball over four. We're times in nine games. That's incredible for an offense that really just turn the ball over at will last season and they turn the ball over twice against the steelers last last night but they still did enough on offense to victory the snap just gonNa keep it off. He will sail. into the end zone touchdown touchdown buffalo. Josh Allen from one yard out and the bills are on the scoreboard early in the second quarter. Do you think there are any lessons. That other teams can take from the bills rebuilding process. Yeah I I do think so and I'm GonNa make a comparison that I'm sure. Bills fans are not really gonNA love but there's a lot of patriots in what the bills have done in their philosophy. The bills have been great at Pro Scouting and they've really found a way to bringing those players like I said who were struggling elsewhere. who were just guys elsewhere and turn them into much better contributors with Buffalo? They've done great work with undrafted. Free Agency have a couple starters in their secondary from there as well. They built their scheme scheme to really accommodate their players. And that's not just the Patriots thing but also way ravens thing where we're seeing that with Lamar Jackson and all the great stuff they've done on offense The bills don't have a scheme that throws the ball up fifteen times a game downfield. Just because Josh Allen has a strong arm they create better throws for him that that play to his arm strength as opposed to just trying to hit a big play because Josh Allen has in his arsenal I think in the big picture. There's just this idea that you shouldn't blindly follow what the NFL does with their trans so the bills are in the playoffs. Most likely as a wildcard team and bill while the defense is he's one of the best in the league offense has been up and down they really didn't produce very much against Pittsburgh. Do you think that that's a formula that can and work in January. I do not. I think they're a team. Nobody's GONNA WANNA play this postseason. It's very different from twenty seventeen eighteen where I don't think it's fair to say. The bills sort of meant the playoffs by accident that year. When they benched tyrod Taylor Nathan Peterman in mid season and kind of just rent a hot streak into the playoffs over the final month of the year? This team is way better on defense. They have more faith than Allen and I think the playoffs actually line up pretty well for for them as a five seat which is most likely where they're gonNA fall. They're terrible matchup for the Texans who they really really gave a tough game. Two in two thousand eighteen only for Nathan Peterman the throw too late interceptions to hand the texts victory and then they gave them our tax and Fitz. When they played last Sunday? I don't think this is going to be the last time the bills are going to be in the playoffs with this court. They're really opposition to be the best team in the AFC east. If the Patriots slip any further. And I am. I don't think I think it's too far to say that I'd be the best team in the AFC east right now

NFL playoff picture: Chiefs’ loss against the Rams helps the Patriots in the race for the AFC’s top seed

"So Nick after you saw what you saw from both teams offensively last night in the Rams and the chiefs can the patriots keep pace with that type of offense St. think not the patriots we've seen through ten weeks now with the patriots won't turn the ball over the way both teams Dade yesterday. They won't commit a dozen first-half penalties or close to it. The way the chiefs did yesterday, they're not going to beat themselves. But you looked at just the overwhelming offense of talent take the quarterbacks out of it and Brady last month hadn't been great take him out. Let's Brady come the playoffs going to be awesome with lesser grunk with Josh Gordon that still is not yet seemingly fully on the same page with Brady you look at what the saints have what the Rams have what the chiefs have what the Steelers have even and you say as far as talent. Perspective. The patriots are playing Tom Brady's stacked deck against him. And so I mean, I wouldn't count the patriots out in any scenario because they're so good at the details. But as far as trying to win a shootout, I know they did against cancer the earlier in the year. I was with gronk little healthier that was with the team playing a little bit better. I don't think they can keep up with the top flight offenses in the league as we're seeing them right now, we always do this in football is not a tale of the take. You look at the pats. How they play you watch the game last night. You'll be like, wow. How are they going to keep up this going to do the pets have started seven and three in the last ten years? They've done that half the time, but they've only made it to the Super Bowl with a by. So if they were to play one of these teams, and they had a bye, you're not gonna see Tareq you'll have two hundred yards that does not going to happen to a Bill Belichick team. So they might go score some points. They might build move the ball. But you're not gonna have one guy Bill to dominate the game. So in seeing this what? Say it's not about the offense. Do Bill Chitwood do something about Kansas City, entire healed. Now would Kelsey heard him would a healthy. Sammy Watkins Bill to hurt them. They have so many talented players on both side the way the Rams played patients. Couldn't do anything with that Jared Goff played that way in the Super Bowl. The patriots wooden goes, Tom because there's not one thing that they would build a take away from them was Bill bell. Check is going to try to do. The thing about is. It's not a matter who's the best right now. We know the patriots are going to get better. It's predictable. They're always better as the season goes on. So now in these last six games will they go five and one will they go six to build a get either that number two seater that number one seat that is the key to them. They will keep evolving keep getting better. Let's see how the Rams how they respond to this by a right? It's still a very very young team. I do like how they responded after the law. Us to New Orleans how they've come back and how Sean McVeigh has replaced the overall productivity of Cooper Cup. So those things I think are very very positive going forward. But the patriots they will not be the same team in January that they are today..

Vikings know the stakes against undefeated Rams: 'It's very big'

"Three undefeated teams left in the NFL and the Rams are one of them off to a hot start as we all thought. But and this is a big, but the teams they've beaten have a combined one eight record this season. So a true test Thursday night against the Vikings seems to be what this team needs Rams head coach, Sean McVeigh says Minnesota will provide a great challenge coach. What's the biggest challenge at the Vikings defense presents this high-powered Rams offense, come Thursday night. Things that I like about the Vikings defense, talented, that's that's the first component to they've got a variety of different pressures in different looks that incorporate and the third than they do really well disguised.

Best from NFL training camps 2018

"Next afternoons on ESPN LA Rams on the field for the first day of training camp. Two thousand eighteen here at UC Irvine and teams are opening up. All across the country were the Rams Kirk. They play a game. They have first preseason game two weeks from today in Baltimore against the ravens. So we're going to be into it fast. This is the first day at camp, but I mean, you better get up to speed pretty quickly because there's going to be games before you know it. Yeah, I and I have a joint practice next week in Baltimore Baltimore's will, but it's it's fast. Actually, two weeks from today is the first game for the Rams one week from today is actually the first preseason game between the bears and ravens. So if football is the on your appetite, trust me, you're going to get a lot of it, but it's a, it's here in this coming fast right now is practice over already. Are they there on the left side team? Jon? Okay, everybody. I remember that part of practice. It looks real chill and call. Yeah, real call. I read something today about the special teams unit that the for the first time in. NFL history. All four of the Rams specialists made the Pro Bowl. Jake mcquaid the long snappers. Johnny Hecker. Yes, Greg's arline Ferro Cooper, all four of them made the Pro Bowl, and and you know, you and I talk about it every week in and out, but that that was, you know, Todd girlies this Jared goff's, that Aaron Donald was doing what he was doing an offense and defense and Wade Phillips in Sean McVay fact of the matter is that group of guys that special teams group bones fossil in the job that he does with those guys. It gave them such a massive advantage weakened in week at they're blocking punts. They were. They were blocking extra points, everything about them, blocking field goals on special teams was above the line by a mile. Yeah. I mean, that was what to me gave. I think, Jared, also the confidence to that Sean McVeigh had to instill in him that, hey, it's okay, we, we got one of the best punters in the game. He's gonna, pin them deep and hopefully our defense and get a stop and think. That's something that the Rams can rely on this year even more so because of the way that they're special teams played a year ago that even this year now you can kind of play this a certain situations, hey, we can go take a shot deep down the field here because sometimes you gotta sit plays up. You gotta go attack in certain areas. You know, third and twelve or second and twelve fellows. We've got to go take a shot here and if we don't get the shot, if we don't get it or you know, we don't convert on third now it's okay to punt. I, it's okay. I know one of my guys always talked to former quarterback and says, Kirk, remember, always every series must intimate kick right? Always whether it's a punt a field goal point after everything has to end with the kick. So it's okay to have those punts. But when you have a guy like Hecker, who can actually in a game in which the Rams can now play that type of game in terms of, hey, this is going to be a field position game. We're not going to score a lot of points. You're going to need a guy like Hecker and he showed that last year in some situations where he's been lights out inside the twenty. You name it that that's his game and and Greg's airline, assuming he's healthy, right? I mean everything inside of fifty yards automatic. Well, to me, he's the one that won the Dallas cowboy game. Yeah. When. Few goes, you know, they couldn't really convert and get in the end zone as much as they want it. But you talk about a guy who was on and really that was the game that really that caught everyone's attention like, okay, this thing looks for real..
