"Guys. They're switching places. Jared Goff, who in his whole entire life even going into his professional life from growing up. It's a college to now playing in the NFL. He has spent his entire life he has spent his entire career. In California. No mass. Jared Goff is going to go play for the Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford is going to ply his craft. Guess this for an organization that will probably and actually give him a realistic chance at winning. It happens to be the Los Angeles Rams. I know head coach Sean McVeigh is doing backflips at the opportunity and the chance to coach the legitimate quarterback. It's a coach, a quarterback who is not gonna give the ball away to coach a quarterback. You can actually win. I'm sorry. I find a comical and I hear it. I've had the hear it for weeks and months, and people who want to tweet me in message me and reach out and all Jared Goff is is good. Or Jared Goff is is not all that bad. Showered office is average to slightly above average. And now Jared Goff. Unfortunately, going to the Detroit Lions, he's probably likely going to fall off the face of the Earth. My apologies ahead of time. I hope he proves me wrong. Not that he has to prove ah, damn thing to me, but I would like to see him work out. I just don't believe it's gonna be with the Lions. What I do know is that I think that the real thing that should come out of this is Hey, we want to be a better offense. And that that includes Jared. No. Damn! He's a rim right now. We want to be a better offense that includes Jarrett. And now Jared Goff. He is no longer a ram. When the league year kicks over in March. He is now going to be a Detroit line, and God only knows how long that's gonna last. But a man who basically had almost a Z many touchdowns. 20 as he did turnovers. That's about 19 turnovers. Last season. Jared God gave you He was selected number one overall in 2016, and now he's out the door. To say that he led this team or the Rams to a Super Bowl. A few years ago, I found almost comical. Didn't lead them there. He played a big part, but he had excellent offensive weapons folks like Todd Gurley around him. Sands. Todd Gurley? Yeah, Life ain't so easy now, is it? But Matthew Stafford, this is the man that is now going to have the opportunity to Sean Matthew Stafford will will legitimately play. In a city More specifically for a team. He can he's expected now. Go to the playoffs. He's going to play with the number one defense. And I know they have some issues and free agency. They have to figure out you know which corners will be returning to play opposite Jalen Ramsey. You have to think about whether Floyd can come back, you know, and and play off of Arun Donald. So you swap number one picks here. Number one overall picks Matthew Start Stafford and Jared Goff. And Stafford, this poor guy in Detroit. Only four winning seasons this past year for the Lions. He goes five and 11. He still gave you 26 touchdowns 4000 plus yards. And Not so difficult when you just gotta Throw your way into every single game. He's only had three playoff games and his entire career. Losing to New Orleans and 2012. Losing to Dallas barely in 2014 getting beat up by Seattle in 2017. And for years for years, and especially folks in Detroit have called up and said this to me. Folks in Detroit have called up here and express their thoughts. They have pretty much, said. Hey, if Matthew Stafford played anywhere else anywhere else. Matthew Stafford would be talked about is one of the best quarterbacks overall in the leak. Matthew Stafford would be in that space of a Russell Wilson. People would be talking about him as a top five just straight at the top. Just because of what his talent level is. Do you know what he's not going to have to worry about a few years of Megatron? He's not going to have to worry about whether the Lions can bring back Golladay. He is going to be able to go to work. Show up, no, that his defense is going to keep him in games and he with his weapons, woods and cup, he's won't be able to light folks up. Who knows who else they add and free agency or who they tried to to sign. They ain't got too much leeway or or room. They basically given up their number one pick for the next million years. They haven't had one since they selected golf. This is all or nothing right now. For the Los Angeles Rams and the fact that Sean McVeigh can legitimately put a quarterback out there who can lead a team who is capable of playing some winning football and has the physical skills but unfortunately, play for the Lions. Saw McVeigh is probably going to go to town. And if you think about the way the NFC is currently constructed I'm looking at this.

And that's why I think it's so important with Watson, where, yes, you go and you say I'm willing to overpaid because at the very least I'm getting a star back. I have no idea what that really means The guys accountable, but You know, it was hot. It was heavy. So we got this big deal. There's a lot to dissect there. We'll figure out what Dodge Coin is. Maybe we'll just get all the current events in. Um Here's a fun one for yourself. Oh, this is this is fun. I had my first bris this week. It wasn't for me. It wasn't for me, too. There's so many different elements to these deals to get into for each team. What it means for the league. There's the dish on Watson element, of course. And what does this mean for him? What this is Val. You look like so so let's start going through all of the big, confusing, crazy mess that is Matthew Stafford getting swapped for Jared Gulf and and here's the first thing that I really take away from this Is This is a hell of an indictment on Jared Goff. Okay, This is a bad look. Because you have to think of the circumstances around this and for a franchise to give up on a quarterback that's younger. That has gotten them to a Super Bowl. But they did give a big contract to recently. For them to give away this guy and for the way that they did it. Because you look at the package and you might say, Well, Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff. Okay, uh, Stafford's probably better than golf. I don't know if if that's such a great deal, but I want to get rid of Jared got fine. But here's the thing. It's not just Matthew Stafford For Jared Goff. There's a third round pick this year. There's a first round pick from the Rams next year. There's a first round pick from the Rams the year after that. Because the Rams live in some world were first round picks are not valuable or useful or something they're interested in. So they said, Yeah, you know, this is the Dodge Coin. There we go. See, now we're really working it in this the Dodge coin. Of draft stock, and we're gonna move it, And that's the thing the Rams had to add all of these draft picks in to get rid of Jared Gulf. It's not just throwing all of this in to get Stafford. It's not that Stafford is so overwhelmingly good that he's worth a third end two first round picks. But Jared Goff with his contract is somebody. That is not all that valuable. And so you're not just paying for Stafford, your paying. The Lions to take Jared Goff off of your hands, which doesn't happen often. We don't see these kinds of deals, especially quarterback in the NFL. The last time this happened was what Brock Osweiler. Which not exactly success story so Looking at Jared Goff here for the Rams to do that. And here's the thing. That guy didn't think about this. Jared Goff just a couple of weeks ago wasn't like three weeks ago. He want to play off game against the Seattle Seahawks with a broken thumb. He wasn't even did surgery on it. He wasn't supposed. He was the backup in that game. He came in because the backup got hurt in the first couple of plays John Woolford. And God comes in, and he's not supposed to play. But he beat Seattle. They went 30 to 20. Tonight's story. You know, it's It's a big game. It's a big win. So that guy Just a couple of weeks later, they're paying another team to take him off of their hands. So that's a massive indictment. You've also got just the idea that organizations don't like giving up on quarterbacks, even when they're not great. Her cousins was getting towards the end of his deal. Grazed her cousins, right? Is he? Is he an amazing quarterback? Is he somebody could move on from? Yeah, absolutely. You could totally move on from Kirk cousins. Well, Vikings didn't move on from Kirk Cousins. They decided to keep that guy because even if he's not amazing, If you're letting a decent quarterback Oh, you don't always believe that you're gonna be able replace that. But the Rams were like, Yeah, let's let's just give up everything. I just give up a bunch of stuff and let's go and get Matthew Stafford. So for Shawn McVeigh, the guy who, you know, offensive mastermind or not, however, you wanna look at him. I think he's a pretty damn good coach. You look at Sean McVeigh and for him to look at golf in the guy that he's been paired with. It's his first head coaching gig. This the first quarterback. He's with its of marriage, right? What a lovely marriage and then it falls apart pretty quickly, and now he's out of town. That's an indictment. Right, so looking at the value of Jared Goff, and here's the interesting thing it It just seems to confirm what everybody's really felt about Jared Goff, Sometimes there's There's conversations that we have his fans right for people who've watched the game follow the game obsess about the game. The way we talk about it and look at it is going to be different. Sometimes, then the league than insiders, you know they value the player differently, for whatever reason, they but they might. There might be a disconnect between what we see on the outside of what people see within the lake. This was a pretty strong indictment that we're all on the same page here. Jared Goff. Just isn't that good? And here's the other thing that we'll get to this more a little bit later, but Don't see him getting any better in Detroit. So if your Lions fan and by the way, if you're lions fan, a Rams fan like especially and I'll take calls from anybody if you want to get in to talk about this, But I would love to hear from some lions and Rams fans about this. I mean, how do you feel about these moves? 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 to tie joins show 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 because again the number one thing I've got from this is it's an indictment on Jared Golf. And part of it is it's not that McVeigh. It's not just that McVeigh's giving up on him that they're doing it as the contract is kicking in that they're paying things to get rid of him. But also Jared Goff is what the problem is really, And it's weird that it worked out this way. But The problem was the Super Bowl. Jared Goff getting to the Super Bowl and getting crushed the way he did. I mean, how bad was that Super Bowl? Right. That was That was the first time in my life like there's been games where it's been a blowout, and it hasn't been super entertaining. But you had moments and as the score is getting run up like the Seahawks dominated the Broncos like eight years ago, and that was fun for a half. That's super Bowls. Awful and part of it was golf was just shaking. He's up and down. You don't know exactly what you're going to get for a guy that's supposed to be the system quarterback. You want stability. You want consistency. You want reliability. When this guy's going to start you want to go? At least I have an idea. Even if he's not amazing, right? According to various reports, the Houston Texans have their new head coach, and he is somebody from the Andy Reid coaching tree. However, no, it's not Eric the enemy. It's not the guy who was thought to be the number one candidate for head coaching jobs in the past year. The guy was thought to be the number one candidate for coaching jobs this year. The guy that their star quarterback to Shawn Watson had lobbied for. Not that guy. Instead, Houston went out and they got somebody from the Baltimore Ravens. That makes sense. All right, if not the enemy. Then you go to Baltimore. I understand that it is one of the better run organizations in the NFL. It's a team that's consistently in the hunt for a Super Bowl. So who did they get? There's no way they're getting John Harbaugh. But which coordinator did they get? Did they go with wink? Martindale Martindale has got that aggressive blitz scheme that has set the tone in Baltimore for years. Did they get that guy? No. All right. That's fine. Then it's got to be Greg Roman, right. They went with a guy who shook up the entire league with Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco and has done it again with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. They got that guy, right? Nope. The Texans did not hire Greg Roman, either. They didn't go with either coordinator. In fact, they went with a guy who has never been a coordinator. They hired David Coe. Now, if your reaction is who I get that David Collie is not exactly a household name. I'm not sure that he was even on too many lists other than the Texans list, and No, He's also not one of those hotshot young head coaching candidates. He's not another Sean McVeigh, Kyle Shanahan protege. In fact, he's 65. He's the oldest first time head coach in NFL history. He's been in the league for 27 years. Now, just because maybe you have not heard of him is not me that he's guaranteed to be a terrible head coach. There are a lot of guys that nobody's ever heard of who went on to become great head coaches, and there are a lot of guys Who everybody heard off who went on to become terrible head coaches. Just because he wasn't that hot name with a cool haircut doesn't mean that he is not earned its honor respect around the league because he has John Harbaugh texted Edward or yesterday. Quote. David is just a genuine guy. He will be who he is. Every day has been that guy every day of his career on thrilled for him. Great person, genuine, full of energy and a quote. My second our guest. He's been a black coach for 40, plus years, his awful experiences and on field leadership. Played a role in his hiring and a quote, Jonathan added. And a quote. In other words, you know the gravitas that he brings when he walks into that locker room for the first time. And the argument for Kali in this situation is he's a great communicator, and he's somebody who can create a winning culture. And that is something that seemed needs badly, desperately, terribly horribly, and that's not just me popping off. That's not me running off the mouth. That's something to Shawn Watson said. Was not that long ago did Watson emphatically said the following? Just need hold court your shift. We just need new energy. We just Need discipline need structure. We need a leader so we can follow that leader assed players and that's what we need and we got to have, you know the love of just not just a game of football because that's what we do, but Love for people and the people in this organization. We need someone that stand tall and this is who we following. This is the way to go, and we're gonna do it this way to win. I think right there. That is a great quote. Watson wants what he sees in other successful teams. Ah, great culture and a leader that he can trust who will provide structure and discipline and shoot. Everybody straight. Be straight up. Jared Goff that you would think would be untradeable, but less needs quote today, John Moving on from Jared Goff. The money we've invested that isn't easy to overcome, but anything can be done in a capped based System. Are they gonna try to trade Jared Goff in the off season? What's going on there? Well, that surely that just on the surface of that, and you know, Coach speak and front office speak as well as anybody. I mean, if if if if you're not gonna move on from your guy you never approach at Mark Murphy, The CEO of the package this morning, said Aaron Rodgers is going to be a packer. End of story. That's what you say when you want your guy, but it certainly sounds like They could move on from Jared Goff. But the problem is given his certain his current financial situation. I don't see a team that would step up and assume that contract I just don't. Well, I mean, we don't know. I mean, you're sisters, teams that need openings that are good teams. The Indianapolis Colts just at their quarterback, retired. What do they really think about Jared Goff? How could a man over the contract? I mean, a couple of years ago, Jared Goff was getting ready to play the Patriots in the Super Bowl. The Patriots need a quarterback. There's some really good teams out there in the NFL. They need a quarterback. But the point is, why would Sean McVeigh Lessen the value of Jared got by dropping the four now I mean, just say nothing, but he did not dodge it and less knee did not dodge it, he said. Anything can be done in the cafe system. S O. I know they're up against moving some money here. But as we get into Shawn Watson, and you're right, Mark Murphy came out to say, and Rogers is not going anywhere. And Aaron Rodgers, you know, showed up on bar stools sport today with Pat McAfee and kind of Backpedaled a little, but they're not gonna trade him. But there are guys that are gonna be about Matthew Stafford. Just flat out available. I mean, they've come to that conclusion. They're gonna move on from him and he wants out of there. So what the Rams Air saying here is really interesting, and he's not less need is not saying, you know, we were not or not. There's no way in hell. We're gonna keep Jared Goff. He's our guy, So they're sending a clear message to him that I don't know why you want to send this message. I mean, it was just minutes after they lost to the Packers in the playoff game. The head coach is saying is our quarterback for now. I mean, that's something you may say going into camp or in the middle of a year where you're trying to motivate him. Now, on the off season, it's starting to spin. So you know if the Houston Texans want to trade to Shawn Watson, where they want a young quarterback back now, we don't love Jared. God, but I honestly I thought he played well. In that playoff game against Green Bay. The guy's thumb was gnarly. He completed the high percentage he's through over the top, and he had the downward motion on the ball. Where could not be? I thought he threw the ball really well. In that game, considering what he was dealing with, and he had a glove on that hand, so I came away impressed. But there's something going on here with McVeigh and obviously golf and now it's upto less need to either try to marriage counseling or Irreconcilable differences, and they would put him on the market..

There's just a lot of players on this roster who either were good somewhere and have become great in buffalo or who really weren't playing very well at all or almost out of the League who have become regulars on this really talented bills defense so last year the bills. Roll the dyson Josh Allen in the draft trading up to take him seventh overall despite his lack of college production in his rookie season was pretty underwhelming warming. Sort of realized. Hey we have coaches who we pay to teach each player's the system. We should just go get those guys instead and so many of those players are playing in a high level and I think. It's really been perfect for Josh Allen Alan who even going back to Wyoming. He had to play hero ball. He had to sort of make big plays for his team to win. And we've seen a totally different quarterback this shear. I wouldn't argue. Allen is finished product but he's been productive quarterback this year a using his legs to create opportunities. He's hitting a lot of intermediate passes when he didn't do that last year. And he's avoiding turnovers man after throwing four interceptions in that really frustrating loss the Patriots week for this offense. Turn the ball over four. We're times in nine games. That's incredible for an offense that really just turn the ball over at will last season and they turn the ball over twice against the steelers last last night but they still did enough on offense to victory the snap just gonNa keep it off. He will sail. into the end zone touchdown touchdown buffalo. Josh Allen from one yard out and the bills are on the scoreboard early in the second quarter. Do you think there are any lessons. That other teams can take from the bills rebuilding process. Yeah I I do think so and I'm GonNa make a comparison that I'm sure. Bills fans are not really gonNA love but there's a lot of patriots in what the bills have done in their philosophy. The bills have been great at Pro Scouting and they've really found a way to bringing those players like I said who were struggling elsewhere. who were just guys elsewhere and turn them into much better contributors with Buffalo? They've done great work with undrafted. Free Agency have a couple starters in their secondary from there as well. They built their scheme scheme to really accommodate their players. And that's not just the Patriots thing but also way ravens thing where we're seeing that with Lamar Jackson and all the great stuff they've done on offense The bills don't have a scheme that throws the ball up fifteen times a game downfield. Just because Josh Allen has a strong arm they create better throws for him that that play to his arm strength as opposed to just trying to hit a big play because Josh Allen has in his arsenal I think in the big picture. There's just this idea that you shouldn't blindly follow what the NFL does with their trans so the bills are in the playoffs. Most likely as a wildcard team and bill while the defense is he's one of the best in the league offense has been up and down they really didn't produce very much against Pittsburgh. Do you think that that's a formula that can and work in January. I do not. I think they're a team. Nobody's GONNA WANNA play this postseason. Yes, Greg's arline Ferro Cooper, all four of them made the Pro Bowl, and and you know, you and I talk about it every week in and out, but that that was, you know, Todd girlies this Jared goff's, that Aaron Donald was doing what he was doing an offense and defense and Wade Phillips in Sean McVay fact of the matter is that group of guys that special teams group bones fossil in the job that he does with those guys. It gave them such a massive advantage weakened in week at they're blocking punts. They were. That's something that the Rams can rely on this year even more so because of the way that they're special teams played a year ago that even this year now you can kind of play this a certain situations, hey, we can go take a shot deep down the field here because sometimes you gotta sit plays up. You gotta go attack in certain areas. You know, third and twelve or second and twelve fellows. We've got to go take a shot here and if we don't get the shot, if we don't get it or you know, we don't convert on third now it's okay to punt. I, it's okay. I know one of my guys always talked to former quarterback and says, Kirk, remember, always every series must intimate kick right? Always whether it's a punt a field goal point after everything has to end with the kick. So it's okay to have those punts. But when you have a guy like Hecker, who can actually in a game in which the Rams can now play that type of game in terms of, hey, this is going to be a field position game. We're not going to score a lot of points. You're going to need a guy like Hecker and he showed that last year in some situations where he's been lights out inside the twenty.
