"Final hour in this Tuesday, just in time to play the Sean mcvay game. I don't know what it is other than Paulie says, let's play the Sean mcvay game. That'll be a couple of minutes away. If you're watching on peacock, good morning. Thanks for watching. You can download that app. That's our streaming partner. Also radio affiliates around the country. iHeartRadio, Fox Sports radio, nearly 400 cities around America. Golf coming up in Hawaii. I'm all in. It'll be the best of the PGA Tour, the Sony open in Hawaii. That'll be Thursday through Sunday on NBC golf channel and peacock. Poll question for the final hour of this award nominated program seat O'Connor. Dan, let me update you on our two first. You could do one. Give Reggie Bush the Heisman or put Pete Rose. This is in the Hall of Fame, but it's really on the Hall of Fame ballot. 54% voted for Pete Rose. I think that's partially to that story just goes away. Yeah, I would have preferred it went away a long time ago because I thought it was an injustice that Pete would go to cooperstown where you would have players having their moment going into the Hall of Fame and it became about Pete Rose not being in the hall effect. But Pete is gained a lot of notoriety and made a lot of money by not being in the Hall of Fame because if he was in the Hall of Fame 30 years ago, 25 years ago, nobody would be talking about Pete Rose. And as far as Reggie Bush getting his Heisman back, sure, I don't care. I mean, he certainly earned it. Yeah, more. Was Pete Rose a super duper star in that time period, or was he played? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, he was his famous as anybody in baseball was. I mean, that era, there was Reggie Jackson and Nolan Ryan and Mike Schmidt and George Brett. The big red machine. That was a big deal. Big deal. And Pete, Pete played the role. You either loved him because he was on your team or you hated him because he wasn't on your team. Growing up in Chicago, Pete Rowe is kind of reminded me of Terry Bradshaw. On a team full of stars, he was the star. One thing I don't want baseball to do. Pete Rose, he's gotta be like 80 years old now, right? Pretty close to them. Let's say he passes away in 5 years from now. I don't want baseball after he passes away go posthumously, we're gonna put him on the belt. No, no, no, don't be hypocrites. If you're gonna do it, do it today, or this year, because the results are all in for his betting. But don't do a posthumously when he can't do his speech and have his family see him and so forth. Yeah. Don't be hypocrite. Yeah.

"Right now is the other man in my life. There's no other way to put it, I don't think. But Marshall faulk joins us from an airport somewhere in the Midwest. Marshall, how are you? I'm doing good. I am doing good. I have to be home with you guys today. But I'm missing you, the chair is just so empty when you're not here. I know, I know, I know. Just duty called, I have to, I'm actually on my way back to St. Louis. So what's going on there, Marshall? When you make, when you make the call, you know what I'm saying? I come to ball. I know you do. And that's the first call I always make, what you got going on in St. Louis. Nothing just visiting friends, nothing special. But some old relationships back there obviously the fan base is still there. Pissed off, but yeah, I enjoy going back. What's your choice of snack in an airport Marshall? What do you buy? I actually, I try to get through the airport and not buy anything. Oh. That's a sleeper. I try to get through the airport. I try. I try to fall asleep on the plane and not eat the food. Because every time it's like probably about 5 years ago, I started to notice, I get up a plane and my hands are swollen, my feet are as well. I'm like, what is this? It's never used to happen to me. And then the doctor said, well, a lot of the food on the airplane and airport contains a lot of salt. It's like, oh, didn't think about that. So, you know, as you start getting older, you got to start worried about you thought intake and stuff like that. I have trouble going by the twizzlers. You know, like the big bag of twizzlers, that's like my kryptonite. Yeah, but you know once you open those, you gotta eat them all. Yeah, you do. They're not like now, there's not, they're not like now later. You gotta eat them all. No, but and you don't want to get the flat ones 'cause those are too skinny. You gotta get the ones in the bag because they're fresher and they taste great. I'm trying to I'm trying to get through this connection with our body anything. What are you doing here? I'm sorry. What are you doing to me? What are you doing to me? Just I'm just trying to I'm just trying to I'm just trying to hold your hand. I'm just trying to take that time with you. You know, experience what you're going through there, Marshall. That's just how I roll. Marshall, we just heard from Sean mcvay talking about Matthew Stafford and what's happening with the rams right now. Do we think that this has become an issue? Do you think that Baker Mayfield is the future of the rams? What? Hey, listen, listen. I think what they did got baker to play. And let me say this, man. What baker did? I mean, we've seen quarterback who have been in systems, not be able to come into a game and function, let alone what he did. So kudos to him. But I think Matthew Stafford is the future of rams. And here's the thing. Let's not we don't want to compare him to Tom Brady in a sense of how long breeding play. But quarterbacks are playing longer. They're playing later into their careers. Now, I know, I know Matt Ryan is not making it look good. But quarterback, they get to play a little longer, and it'll be interesting to see what he does. That being, I understand the whole elbow thing and off season. I don't know if you guys forgot about that, but that was an issue. And we saw some balls lacking velocity early in the year. And I don't know if it was because he was on a pitch count or maybe he wasn't ready. I don't know. But the Matthew Stafford who guided this team last year to win a Super Bowl, I don't think he's done. I think there's still a lot left in the drink. Marshall faulk here on the rich eisen show. I guess when you hear spinal cord contusion back to back concussions, young kids, a ring, psychologically, does it ever occur to a player playing at the highest level, I think I have a decision to make? Yes. You know what's funny is we were just talking about this. A lot of the young players, they don't have to negotiate with a lot of the things that we negotiated with. I mean, they're making a lot of money. They're secure and. They're not thinking about being the greatest all time. They know that this game should end this is something that's going to change your family's trajectory. And if that's enough for you, then that's enough for you. When you go back to whether it's Patrick Willis deciding to walk away, who's the linebacker in Carolina? I mean, watching emotionally watching him walk away, guys are starting to walk away a lot early. The guys are starting to say, okay, that's it for me. I'm fine. And that's just that for he could very well be there. But here's what I say. You know, the quarterback position is a unique position. They should just have a red light on their elements when you touch them. It's a fact.

"He has, he has changed my life for all the better and I sure love Aaron Donald just like all the rams fans and all his teammates do. You know, and I know I'm leaving out a lot of teammates when I say what I'm about to say, Sean and a lot of great players, if you could name like the all star team. Or in all protein for just NFT just using NFC west players from the last ten years. You would have to put Aaron Donald up front and then Bobby Wagner in the middle and maybe Jalen Ramsey in the back and you've got all three of them. And the only word I can think of is stupid for that. That's insane. What's the words you use when you see you're going to see those guys out there playing defense? I mean, just pure joy. I mean, getting a chance to work with those guys on all three levels and a lot of other good players have really stepped up around them, I think, you know, what an amazing job, Leonard Floyd has done really making an impact on this defense since he got here a couple of years ago, but to have all three players that, you know, certainly, I don't think anybody would argue that these guys are on track or they've already accomplished Hall of Fame career resumes to still be playing at high levels and to be on all three levels of your defense. That's a good thing and I know me and the coaches and all the guys feel really good about that and excited to see these guys come to life on Sundays or Thursday. Whenever our first game is. Yeah, and again, I just, well, your first game is definitely giving me on a Thursday and we'll find that out tonight. And we haven't even mentioned Cooper Cup. My God, and he's the Super Bowl MVP in one of the most maybe incredibly self made improved players to go from where he was drafted and when he was drafted to where he is right now. How can he get better? What can he actually improve upon in your estimation? Sean, I think the best about all these guys are talking about rich and I think this is with anybody that's great at their craft can place and see never sets in. You know, I do believe Cooper Cup is going to play better next year. Now whether or not the stats reflect that is a totally different conversation, but the consistency at which he plays the way that he'll continue to perfect his craft of running routes, being a part of the blocking surface, helping mentor guys in his group are really just his teammates continuing to lead at a higher level. He is going to get better because he works at it. The right way and he's wired physically and mentally the right way. He's such a stud and I really think all these guys, whether you're talking about Matthew, you're talking about air and you're talking about Cooper Cup, you're talking about the Bobby Wagner's. I mean, that's what it's about, rich, and that's why, you know, for me, getting a chance to work with these players is so fulfilling and you just want to help them out in any way you can and to be around them on a daily basis. They make me a better coach and it sure makes it fun to be working with the rams right now. That's for sure. Last two is Odell still on your radar screen. Sean? Oh, of course. I really want to Odell back on our team. He's a guy that in a short amount of time we were able to develop a really special relationship. I thought he brought a great spark to our team. I thought he played really well. He's a great teammate. And we all know what a charisma and a presence that he has, but he is truly a great teammate, made so many impactful plays. It was a shame to see him go down in that game, but man, he sure still made an impact with those two catches that he did have and without a doubt want to get Odell back here and that's the goal and continue to work towards a solution of him resigning with the rams. And then how do you avoid whatever doldrums happen with a championship team that we see frequently? I mean, this is the first time not your first rodeo playing in a Super Bowl, but it's the first one following up a win. What is your challenge and how are you approaching that to make sure the rams do it again, Sean? Yeah, I think the first thing is is that you understand that what we did last year will have nothing to do with the things that we do this year. Last year was last year. It will always be a special season, something that you cherish and you never take for granted, but that won't win us any games. If anything, it makes it that much more difficult. I've heard it said before and I think it's so true. If you want to try to stay on top, you have to remember that success is the greatest enemy of future success. And the people that have performed consistently at a high level, they don't let that complacency set in. And I do feel good about the leadership that we have, but we have to just be totally and completely present. We'll use last year as a chance to draw some confidence, but understand that that won't do anything for us as we move forward and try to have a great off season program and then start stacking blocks the right way when we report to training camp on the 23rd of July. Well, normally I don't need to normally I would ask, I guess somebody who's about to get married if you and Veronica got that thing I got off the Tiffany registry for you, but you were holding it up in February. So I'm glad you got that from my wife and I. And normally I don't see that on a registry, but I wanted to get that for you, Sean. I love it. Well, hey, I appreciate you having me on. It's always a great time. And you're the man rich. Right here in person next time. I know you're all the way up there. You see now I know you're totally acclimated to Los Angeles life. If you're not coming down the four O 5 all the way down here, I get it. You're all the way up there. You know what? I can appreciate your consideration for me. That's a thoughtful guy right there. I'll see you in person soon hopefully, Sean. Thanks for the call man. Okay, thanks, rich. Head coach of the Super Bowl champion, Los Angeles Rams Sean mcvay here in the rich eisen show. Yeah, he's not coming from Thousand Oaks. That's like a day trip. That's a thousand minutes. At least the wrong time of day. Especially on a Friday. All right, let's take a break here on the rich eisen show phone calls and then John Hamm is making his way to our studio.

"Then if that's the case take out ninety percent of the guys out of the hall of fame. We'll dennis rodman's professional party question of the wheelchair at twenty thousand with that number so i get this question all the time. Do you ever do the show stone. And the is no and people say well. Why don't you try it. And i would never try it. Would you do a podcast stoned. Definitely not at this stage that maybe someday but that's apples and oranges. I think in in this case the question would be shown tonight. Yep during this fantasy football draft would you put it on your your on every social media platform garre is. Would you put it on live. Or what was the one you used to do. All periscope scope. exactly. What would you do that i would not. I don't i would not present myself in a stone state in a public setting but you come out openly. I talked about openly. But i think it's i think it's different. Actually be stoned. Don't you bergman. Don't you think it's different to be stoned on social media. Yes it is a little bit different. But i don't think he did anything wrong either. I'm with these guys. Here paul peirce. Yeah paul pierce as long as it is different being stone. Yes by the way Freddie prints junior. Just text me to tell you mason especially you and and bergman that bruce lee way one hundred twenty eight pounds you lost your mind to think that he could beat meiteis right. By the way michael it would be half of that or sixty four brown sixty four pounder but think about it. Michael watkins we would jump on the shoulders of the other. Bruce lee grant limbaugh qinghong while the other ones punching stomach. What is this a saturday morning cartoon show you want to abilities. Oh hi coming up next. Mike i wanna ask you about madonna donna. What she did that is causing all kinds of controversy. Also ethical question for you guys okay. Good all right. "Before before you do anything else. You're gonna be the deciding vote because two of our on one side and two of us are in the other who would win a fight between half sized bruce lee's and one full size mike tyson. Bruce lee was five eight. So the half size. Bruce lee's would be under three feet tall. We'll kind of question is that. That's a plus. Sean mcvay and i say tyson would swat those mini bruce lee's away like flies mason and bergman boasts a bruce lee would do flying kicks and tyson couldn't look is the size of tattoo. Be mike tyson. Come how wouldn't might little down at these guys a little people couple of fighting tyson people. Everything's mcveigh said base. If tyson connects at all on the main a minute on the mini bruce lee. That many bruce. Lee's dad. Real bruce lee would have a hard time with the bursley would crush crush. Might bruce lee is quickey can use as feed them but if my kids him once he's dead. What is wrong with you people with michael. He's who many bruce lee's one in front and one behind him one standing on the other one shoulders whatever it takes. I think the bruce lee's would win. Okay realistically all men listening to us right now. Understand only one way. They could win. If they get lucky punching a low blow you could bring down sack with a low blow but we brought this up. Michael michael never do that to you and your nba caridi anyone try and do a low blow on you you on purpose. Yeah oh no. Nobody did that. No that's that's that's that's the that's the man code. Isn't it every guy listening to us right now even in a fight. Let's say guys get into a barroom fight they wouldn't do that with I think an apartment linnet everybody. T- there was a question a couple of weeks ago on the show. I don't think you were here for it. Would you let. Would you let mike tyson punch you in the face for ten million dollars. And how am. I gonna spend ten million dollars in a coma forever. You think it's about you'd think it's bad you brain damage. Yeah so you can kill you makes you admit the injuries. Almost i would think there's probably ninety percent chance that the injuries would be permit. Yes good break your face. Is that mike tyson right now or is that more tyson ten years. Well let's just say right now is yes michael with this fists. You wouldn't you. Wouldn't you wouldn't be able to enjoy it. Dismembered got brain damage. Strong joh- strong. Yes is known for the. You know what mike tyson is known for. Mike tyson is known for having a weed farm. Like that's what he's known for right and he's got a big one and he smokes a lot. So i don't think that he's going to have you. Seen those training videos of tyson recently. Great he's fifty five years of age but he's still gonna throw a punch. You can throw a punch but it's not gonna be as strong mike. Tyson is known as being one of the greatest heavyweight fighters. No he's got a huge. He's in the weed. Based on years ago. You could ask you go on the street and thirty people. what do you know about mike tyson. They all say he's a fighter nobody's gonna say he's a wheat farm making he's making serious. Jack is we'd stop what it's different. It's different when you have the same power that you had twenty years ago when you had a name. muhammad ali. what do you think. I think i think if a boxer go but that doesn't mean that doesn't mean that right now. If mahalia ali hit me it'd be the same on by what is known as what is what is just not what he's known as doesn't mean it'll hit me in the face. No matter just. I would not advise it. I don't care if it's canal alvarez who don't let me get your michael. I want to ask next about drinking smoking and strippers is that okay. Sure okay. Well i don't need you don't need to break it by the way we're closed right. Are we four minutes. Okay let's do it then So paul pierce was playing poker. Defense france house in l. a. There was drinking there. Were smoking there were strippers and after a little too much drinking and smoking pierce decided to start an instagram. Live and show off the strippers. When on for a few minutes riffing he thought for a couple of hundred people when he finished he deleted it. He didn't know. I g lives can be recorded and they can be reposted. So paul pierce basically. Everybody saw this losses job. Everybody saw this. But do you believe wait a minute. Hold on there's an important point for context here. Michael and mace paul. Pierce is not married. Michael he was in. he's a man. He got divorced last year. He was just enjoying his free time. He did put it on the internet. All right go ahead me. Does he own the world and apology. No this is all consenting adults private time even though he put it out there on social media this is his personal time at his home all consenting adults. I don't do the strippers. I don't smoke the weed. i do. Drink my occasional wine beer champagne but no what he did. I wouldn't want my boys doing it. But it's not against the law none of it so no big deal well part of this too. Is that his agent. Jeff schwartz and jerry colangelo who heads the hall of fame board these days both went to pearson said look you should issue statement. You should apologize in some way because it might hurt your chances of getting into the hall of fame now. Of course it didn't. He got voted into the hall of fame. Anyway but they were schwartz and colangelo. Were just michael looking out for his brand image is image. Right is does his image. Take a hit here. I don't think so. I don't think so either pop. Everybody knows policy was kind of a party air. He's outspoken guy. When i look at paul pierce now i see a form of great players with nice guy. Okay so he likes to party..

Not only as a player on the field as a guy who makes left-handers but also as a clubhouse guy as a mentor younger guys. Albert wholesome has been fantastic for the dodgers. What a final chapter. It's been for him by the way. Speaking of the dodgers youtube guys got killed on my twitter page and blue. Here's here was the question that they had for you. Guys said you wouldn't even consider max scherzer and one game plan. You're giving the ball bottle walker bieler. No matter what i said. There is no way you can give it to anybody but cher's and what came back more than anything else at both of you guys is all right. It's a one game playoff right. So that game on sunday was as close to a one game. Playoff as you can simulate. It was against the giants with the season series on the line and walker. Bueller didn't pitch. Well sure zor has zero bad games. He's pitched in seven games. They're seven or no. He's five zero within the era of one with sixty three strikeouts. Why would you mess with that. You has had a bad game in the postseason when it matters actually exactly these game postseason regular season two totally different worlds. yeah ask alex. Rodriguez b- he's he's undefeated in the postseason. In other words walker bueller has not thrown a bad game. And the postseason right and he's is undefeated as dodger. He has lots to dealer. Has been better in the postseason than max scherzer has. Bill sample size is very small. What's peeler twenty-five i mean. How old is he about it. He's pitched a lot in the playoffs. He's critical year. He's been the i mean. Look this is going to be agree to disagree. I i go with bueller. Curious to see. What dave roberts does if it comes down to this and can i hopefully won't by the way what a spectacular pennant race. This is i mean we win. they win. I mean we're going down to the wire with this thing. Both teams are playing so well. I know he's gonna remember a team as hot as the dodgers not picking up major ground. This late in the season can you. I think they're four and six in their last three games. It's crazy and they only picked up two and a half. Yeah it's only picked up two and a half and the giants are continuing to play well and they're in colorado right now which is an easy out and the dodgers are in saint. Louis saint louis is still in wild card contention. You know it's going to come down to. It's gonna come down to the padres. How well the padres play against the giants and how well the padres play against the dodgers. The padres are going to be the pivotal deciding team about who wins the national league west. Because we've got a bunch of games with him and the giants have a bunch of games with them so watch the padres. That's gonna determine who wins the national league west and by the way because of that the padres will probably be out yeah. I don't think. I think the reds will be the wild card and and i you know blake smell. Did you see what happened to him last night. Off the top of my head. No it's like the third time this has happened in a right for him to join us. No he was showing a no hitter into the seventh inning. Any lost again. It's happened to him like four times. Statistically he's been the most dominant pitcher. He's been better than anybody. Easing better than sherzer. And they gave them any run support. Did they leave him in the no hitter. Yeah but but last last time around he had a no hitter through six and they pulled him because they and blake snell apparently agreed with it. They don't like blake snell to go a third time through the line. Well this was the world series when kevin cash took him out against the dodgers. When i think he was throwing a one hitter reminded gonna no hitter and he took him out in the fifth inning. One hitter because it was awesome. Barnes i gotta hit and then they pulled them out for mookie well at least this time he was there until the no hitter was broken up up the first hit right so coming up next. We have coach. Sean mcveigh is going to join us. And we have wheel of questions. So we're going to incorporate both yes we're going to do the will of questions include. Coach mcveigh fantastic. Could be interesting. Yeah could be interesting all right. That's coming up next for you. Mason and ireland seven ten. Espn wanna snoop total. Snoop yeah but i rarely she knows them snooping snooping if you're openly teller. Don't leave your phone land around. Because i'm going through it. Yeah i guess. I guess you're being honest. I guess you're being honest. Hey it's time for will. The questions and coach mick day is going to join us here in a minute. We'll questions brought to you by friends that went to hills toward if you got a car that just sitting around not being used bring it to puente hills toyota today for an instant. "Work when you're competing and someone because then they can just hit their drive out of bounds on purpose stuff on purpose through. Here's mark in long beach mark. You're on seven ten. Espn of afternoon drive a lot. Appreciate your show. Thanks mark mason. I had so much suggestions with the golf. If you'll hear me yeah absolutely all right. You can do this. You're getting a lot of strokes. Just want you to keep this in mind. Forty three percent of your shots in a round of golf or in putting sixty something percent of your shots or within sixty yards so you just gotta get it. Close all right right. Usually no matter if you're good golfer bad golfer. there's usually one club that's working for. You might be a nine iron. Might be a three would play it. So even if it's five hundred yards away. If you're hitting your seven iron hit it. Three times that i feel best about is my five iron. Alright then play the five iron and then if you hit two or three bad shots go with another iron and leave it in the bag. I'm not even. Hey i'll tell you what mark i'm not even bringing woods i cannot hit a would it intimidates me. So i'm playing all irons. In this event you find. The only thing i would recommend is bringing the driver. Think of someone you don't like and swing for the rap. He's last piece of advice. Mason yes is. Save your spinach for the back. Nine see how it goes.

"Early michael tops and what is going on man actually guys you even more the michael right in the flesh. I'm pressing the flesh today. The station i'm actually. I'm actually glad you're here. Because i was gonna suggest we call you today. Where are you going to say something. Before i was gonna say i want to continue with the hot vicky story because that was very great radio. That was awesome. You didn't like it. Was compelling compelling right out of the gate. We always want to do that in the first ten minutes of the show. Anyway go ahead forget that so i. I'm getting a lot of traction from the caller we had. Just chris like me has a great passion for golf. Yes so whenever. I have golf questions. I discussed by the way john. I don't wanna interrupt you. But i'm going to you. Know who else has a passion for golf travis rodgers and you can grab nine fifty. Am and were hopefully. Getting them on the lakers scoreboard soon. Anyway go ahead john. Okay so chris. Lot attraction for changing the scoring system on friday to to give mason a better chance but john. I don't understand how matchplay is going to help him. he's not gonna win any of the holes. I waited win a whole but wait a minute mace. Yes that's nice. Yeah okay if he takes like you semiotics yesterday saying he could take a twenty on one hole. He could if he does do that. Matchplay would protect him in other words. Let's say the first what's the what's playing the back. Nine nine nine. Do you want to do in front front on a friday. You wanna go front. I okay yeah. Okay so nine. That's par for to start. Yep let's say i get five and mason gets twenty okay. Well then the matches over. I'd be fit and he breakfast. Is that what we want. no. I don't know what you guys want. Nice for tommy months to come to the course in play the course any has it. I cannot win a single whole beat you on a whole so you would win nine nothing match. No no i would give you three shots on every hole now see. That's what i'm saying. He's intrigue interest. That's intriguing and that way. Let's say on. The first of all i get a five in you. Get a twenty. You're only down one down one. And if i get a five and you get an eight we just go to the second hole at. That's the push but the strokes doesn't work out. We have to do the math based on threes twenty seven. Oh that's right. I mean imaging. I'm not in math. So i think that protects them a little bit but i will leave it up to you. I will defer to use. You've created no. Let's do this right on the air so we don't have to deal with this friday morning. Mesa what do you wanna do. It would play to your advantage if we did it. that way. It seems like matchplay would protect me. In the event of a twenty morale's which i think is completely possible on told the fairways very narrow. I've not played the course. I've never actually been on an eighteen hole. Full-sized golf course. I would also prolong the match if you if you had two or three early blow polls or for that matter if i had two or three early blow polls it would protect like if i would still give the other guy a chance. You know an hour later. Have you guys ever seen the movie of mice and men. Yes 'cause i call scott kaplan wendy. But i digress. Anyway so great white. Oh true there. You wasn't on the air. We made this trade berkman bergman. Yeah what do you think in the matchplay idea. I'm okay with it. I just i mean i don't feel like three is enough i but that to be a total of twenty seven right. I mean it puts it right there on the par fives. He's not going to get an eight par-three is he could easily get a six right. So let's do this john. Let's add a layer to this if you wanna do matchplay. We're going to have to add strokes. No he gets three every now. That's not gonna work. If you shoot par and i shoot an eight. That's a push. I guess right in a bogey and you get an eight look if i play seven right if look i play a decent amount and i played with chris. Plenty of times and i played with you john. I don't want him right in my coach though no myself but an eight an eight is something that will normally get on a five on a par five but i- mason is not going to get an eight but debbie up to par it to beat him. He's still he's not gonna get a nine either. He's going to get like a twelve because par. Fives are long. I blew up on a par three hole this past weekend and i shot a an eleven visible. I think we keep strokes. That's all straight you guys. You guys are not looking at the forest for the trees. This is better for mason the match up in the phone. Eight seven seven seven day. Spn so we've been morning. Wait a minute hold on we. We wanted mesa decide. Then we brought greg. Now we're opening phones. I think that you guys must think i'm up to something. This is better for mason..

"This was his first practice out here. Since he got cove he's been stored up in his hotel room doing zoom meetings so he was choose to be out here with us today but they've been great. They've been really good. Sean mcvay with this year. Now let me ask you this because and you know it's a family show but i would imagine that when matthew hit his hand on that helmet. Yeah there there was a lot of expletives like was there a count on how many expletives happened in that moment thing i blacked out george i all i know is this. I was watching the defensive shirks. Who are doing a two minute. I heard what sounded like a gunshot. I look back. He's holding his hands. There was a lot of expletives. My mom would have ripped my you know what i was saying. All the defensive guys coachman i've never seen you that pissed and everybody was just get the hell away from me. At that point. I was angry and now that's why you see us. Look like a bunch of duds with those cats on the top of everybody's helmet now so we don't have that instance anymore. Let me ask you about the running back position. Even though it has been a hot button topic would just kind of get the latest on down. How daryl's looking how that group is looking. Yeah i've been really pleased with daryl. I think he's done an excellent job to start off camp and really daryl's always done a great job when he's been available but the key thing is how do we keep him healthy. How does he take care of his body. How does he push through some of those things that inevitably occur for the backs. And then thomas brown you talked about rising star our assistant head coach leading the running back room what he's done with xavier jones watching jake funk guy like raymond clay. It's a good competitive group. These guys have a good look in there. I i don't feel like it's too big form but there. Oh henderson is definitely asserted himself as the leader. That room. the top dog can do a you know there's no limitations in my mind and then i've been really pleased with those other guys with what they've done with their opportunities early on now coach. You know you. And i've known she'll go minute now. Have you know even before you kosher first game who were hanging out a super bowl ca blah and. He came in studio with today. I'm a little worried. Received my wedding invitation. We know what what's going to be engaged for about ten years cove and we're putting it off. Next june invitations have been sent out yet. Talking nice about me. You'll get what coach. Let me ask you this team building. Yeah most coaches have some tricks in their bag about how to create team cheer k. Anything you have done or will do in training camp. That's kind of a fun. coaching trick. That creates team bondage. You know what i'm saying. Yeah you know what i think. Sometimes those the best things with that instance really come up organically. Here's what i would say. We've got core values that we want operate with and when our guys really demonstrated the leaders of the team demonstrate what it looks like to be great communicators to have that football character with the accountability that coach ability when i can show aaron donald on the on the film and say hey look at what this guy's doing. I always say to our players..

"I think you're always a reflection of the collaboration amongst the coaches and the players that you're working with and i thought brandon did a great job of empowering his staff putting our players in the right positions and then ultimately did such a good job that he earned the right to compete for head coaching jobs. In in one the one that op in you know in l. a. with the chargers excited for him. Brian answer okay. Before we get to the email here. There's one more before we get to the voicemail. There's one more email that i thought was funny. I don't think i. I haven't seen one email about this question. I don't think i've ever heard anyone ask a coach about this. He wants to know about what you think about. Coin tosses at the start of the game and if you have a philosophy on coin tosses he says one thing that i've always wondered is why teams keep deferring when they win last year teams scored i regardless of three or seven won the game fifty five percent of the time. I know the argument. Is you wanna score at the end of the half and double up at the beginning of the third but my math wrong here. Why do people still insist on deferring. Yeah but i mean who scores. I mean that. That doesn't necessarily mean takes it. I mean we're still talking about a fifty five forty five percent discrepancy. I would say this you know there. I thought you were asking about whether you call heads or tails at. Oh you have that answer that too. I know what i defer to our players on that you know. Whatever they feel is cooper cup like to have a lot of an influence on whatever jared would call and he was was uncanny the amount of coin tosses one when we were when we were actually making that decision. But you know i think. In a lot of instances it's about trying to steal that possession at the end you know based on how you wanna play out the first half is trying to get possession kind of a two for one if you will where you get a possession before you go into the half and then you know you're getting it out getting it coming out of the half but like do you have a philosophy. Does it change game by game. What you're gonna do good. I mean i would say this for the most part said the overarching philosophy. What i've done the majority of the time would be defer but if you felt like hey man you know need some momentum or we're gonna come out we're gonna we've talked to the team about. Hey we're taking the ball. We're going to go right down the field and score. You know you might take the ball. I but if you said general philosophy not kind of pigeonhole on yourself into an all encompassing approach. The weather plays a factor. The wind all of those things. Are that this the things that would be the outliers that you can't be naive to ignore as a head. Coach generally speaking if the weather and the elements or if this specific approach by that week typically difference you get the ball coming out of the second half and you try to be smart with how that thing You know unfolds and and maybe get a two for one at the end of the first half like if you're going up against my home. Rogers what's the play. There is it like we don't want. I mean that one of those deals is ever matter like the player in the other side. Certainly i think it. Does you know if you get behind on these teams and are some of these teams that put the you know. Put their frigging foot on your throat. that's something that i would certainly dictate a determined. Maybe a little bit different response. But it'd be a week by week but but overall you know. I'm up typically deferring which i think is You know kind of a standard operating not necessarily standard. But i would think that's the majority of the the league's approach if you just look at what guys did when they won the coin. Toss this past year. Okay all right. Let's get to voicemail. Who coach question for you at the ninety-four biki such bring down the end of the night so that you can get to sweet and do you keep a notepad and a pen next to the bed if you got a deal to unwind yourself out the about the and then the next day how do you start off. How do you can keep yourself in check so that you're focused mentally and emotionally peek at team time and you don't get too high earlier in the day. Love the ear your take on your thank. It's a good question. I would say this Peter mentioned it. My man whitworth talked about how he doesn't like to talk to me through tuesday through until friday afternoon. I think it's trusting in the preparation. You try to settle down. I always try to get a good amount asleep especially the two nights preceding the game. So that you're a sharp. Because i am a big believer in how much that affects your mental clarity. And the ability to make sound decisions in an be Be steady throughout the course of the inevitable ebbs and flows that a game entails. But if the weekly rhythm alignment and you trust your process and your players in the people around you. I really don't have trouble sleep in the night before game and then typically what i'll do is i'll get up Want to try to make them getting eight hours asleep. You get up and usually go through some form of a workout to kind of get good sweat in and then you're kind of going through You know playing the game before the game with a lot of the decisions especially as a play caller You know what's the best way to to put all three phases together but it's more just kind of reviewing your call. She your calls playing the game within the game I typically emma guy. That i i do a lot of that kind of is not last minute. But you're getting those thoughts together for a couple of hours preceding the game and then i'll come out. You know probably about forty five minutes you know when we're warming up before kickoff. I'm not one of those guys that's out there a few hours before. I'm usually in kind of a quiet space and get my thoughts together and then You know that's that's kind of that that rhythm in that process that will go through but really don't have trouble sleep in the night before game as long as you feel like You know the weekly rhythm is in alignment with all the things you believe and thursday nights are maybe the only exception to that. If i feel like we've got to Condensed six days into three from my standpoint. My saturdays have changed drastically so i used to do sidelines and i used to report on games and saturday. Night was just one of great excitement for sunday. Because i knew. I no matter what story was going to unfold and share that with either my readers or the viewers. I'll never forget. Sam rosen a lot of people as the voice of the new york rangers hockey for years. That fox games and i would occasionally do games with them and his tradition loved..

Hey makers. what's the biggest criticism that he gives you get a little long winded. Not long winded. the shit. that kyle hates that i do. And that nate mccay will roll their eyes. And i'll be like all right. Let me tell you why. Anthony berkshire is going to have an amazing season. Anthony a tight end from the titans and he's like all right. Stop showing off. We get it like you know players that other people don't know like i went big on dan arnold a lot last summer and solid going in on him he. He's he's a much better player than he's given respect for. I believe sure. And he's a. He was a cardinal side and now panthers dead end but like by the end of the summer. When i was talking about dan arnold and out grade i thought he was going to be became their joke of like all right. Let's talk about dak prescott and maybe if you want. Tom brady aaron rodgers but only to start the show with dan. Arnold talk so that's the bus my vol's about a lot. They'll say that it all trying to find that hidden gem a little too often but in truth you know. Our show is pretty fine. Tuned find oiled machine. The producers speak our language. We speak and if there is an actual criticism or a segment isn't working or if someone actually says something. That came off as insulting patronizing or worst of all was genuine. I i think we would We address it in a respectful manner. But i don't. I don't watch episodes back to often and i certainly don't like the sound of my voice so it's one of those deals where you know. I i appreciate any feedback. I get as long as it's constructive. But i'm certainly not in the lab watching clips myself all day long so eaton. That's peter's way of saying he's the man he doesn't make any mistakes. No film necessary eaten. You wish you could be kidding. Okay this is from leo here. He asks a question for sean. Please take us behind the curtain. How you contrast the personalities of the three men you've entrusted to run your defense. How could you approach. Alleged like weighed about making changes to his long develop scheme. Did you have more input with brandon. Staley does being friends with for he. Morris make it difficult so essentially. he's just asking. What was it hard to come to a legend like like you know. Wait and be like hey. I don't like this quite questions. Yeah that's that's a really good question. And i think you know number one anything that you're doing first of all everything that we do Even though i'm the head coach it's all about collaboration. We're working together. It's not about guys working with me. It's about working with me. And i alluded to it earlier in this podcast. That i heard wade phillips. Say that to his defensive staff right when we first started working together and so you got to build a foundation on a relationship. We've got to be in alignment and we talked through a commitment to a philosophy. What's the teaching progression. And then how do we want that illustrated weekend and week out number one starting with our players how we feel like the best way to put pressure on the opposing offense and then ultimately how does that fit into the way that our offense in our kicking game helps us win the football game and come away with the result put in all three phases together and so You know i. It was very similar but the relationships are a little bit unique in terms of our. How much experience you had Raymond i have more experience than i did with weight in brennan going into those scenarios but all three of those guys are great coaches that are teachers number one. We're number one. They're great men. That's the most important thing all right number two. They're great teachers. They have a commitment to a philosophy and then they also know how to put their players in the best position to be successful. I think one of the best things i can say about. All three of those men is. They've been around a lot of great players. But i don't think it's by coincidence. That a lot of these great players have played some of their best football when they've been with a wade phillips with brandon staley or with a remorse and so it's about that collaboration that relationship and and being able to have that agility year in and year out based on our players our team and then how we want operate but i always say you know we will compete with our schemes. But we're gonna win with our people and that will never change as long as i'm coaching. Guys quick follow up. Because i think this is interesting sean. You had all these great coaches that have been on your staffs and you've elevated from within several times with brandon. You hired from the outside. When i'm sure a lot of guys both in the building and outside the building would have loved to have been defensive coordinator. What was your relationship to brandon staley. And you know he was outside linebackers coach for the denver broncos in a bad denver broncos team. How did you identify him. And how are you so sure he can get the job done well. It's all about you know. Relationships coach judge alluded to that. There was a handful of guys on our staff or people that i had crossed paths with. That had worked with brandon spoke really highly of him. I was obviously very intrigued to spend some time with him. Based on his experience and exposure to to coach fangio. i've Not shied away from the tremendous amount of respect that i have for him and what. The consistency that his defenses have operated without a bunch of different stops whether you go back to san francisco chicago denver as of late. But there was a lot of history even preceding those stops that he's been at the upper echelon for a long time and so was interested by that. Then when you get a chance to spend time with brandon you know you can feel the ownership of the game the passion for the game the relationships. He's building the vision that he had for our players and he had really been working at it. I felt like he was ready for the opportunity and obviously he answered the bell with flying. You know flying colors. And i thought he was surrounded by some really good coaches..

"Around like that. They're trying to get it right now and they don't know how much time they got to get it. And so i- show respect to the men that i work with bringing that same energy By bringing same urgency as idols focus on. What's going on with me. I just looking to the is it a young man that i work with and as chasing dreams and and trying to make life better for themselves and their family in understanding that if we do our jobs and prepare them and set them up for is significant. There's nothing better than watching a guy you work with live out. His dreams mandate is secure financial security for himself and his family and change the course of generate of life for generations to come. We all been in it long enough now that we can see it in cold. You know Desk that's why we get down like that. That's why we that's why we bring it all on a day to day basis at work because we expect them guys who do the same thing. We want to honor them with urgency of work. That's why you see the response from both these guys. Peter that they get from their players consistently year in and year out. You can't fake that. And they feel it and i always say those who know no and the the players that are in the building working with these guys the coaches on a day-to-day basis. You can't fake it. They see it. And that's why these guys are As great at what they do and even better people and like i said ma'am appreciate you both taking the time guys mean a lot to me and can think of two better guys to wrap up. And he's wondering whether he should get involved in this profession. And they get an elevator with raheem morris a bit combine and he says hey coach what. What's your one tip or your one thing you would like to pass along in the next ten seconds that were getting in the elevator. Would you say to that young man or woman as you as you take that ride with them. You know it's funny aspects. And how do you challenge yourself as you get into the second half second decade almost of a head coaching career. How do you find yourself each off. Season still getting excited for that random week. Three preseason game that you got coach and gotta give the same zest that you had your one man. I think it's kind of said kind of a lot of ways throughout this conversation. But i love what i do. I loved misery. You know what people might perceive to be misery on. Nobody loves camp like the way we love camp. You know what. I mean wednesday night blitz meetings. What have you just every element of the process. i've always enjoyed and and that's the blessing i think in terms of aptitude for the job. Sure there are some things that kinda come with the job van but you know you waste a lot of time worried about that stuff man like there's so much about it that i love this challenging. I mean because when you look around and things get tight man you can waste a lot of time talking about how bad it is or wondering who's gonna turn the tide etc. We just took it upon ourselves man just from a mindset standpoint that we would never gonna flinch that we were going to lead our group out of whatever darkness that you can encounter professionally and really. I think we both came with an aptitude. But i think just the time spent together. We gained in appreciation from that strip for that strength in each other. And we because of it. You know a particularly together you know i. I've always tried to maintain that mentality obviously Forward but. I don't know that i've ever had another partner. That saw it clearly in the same manner as i have is. That dude is on this call with us. I love that. I you know peter i love here in Tells me the story. Because you know i i can remember. The various amounts at times just advice the perspective when he's head coach in tampa and kinda just porn into me and he was telling me some stories about when he and mike t work together and as a young coach. Mike alluded to this earlier about this young arrogance that we have. And he's exactly right and you can touch on this better. You kind of get there. You guys are working together. And you got some suggestions on some coverage principles or maybe suppressor packages in mitee says. You're one of those. Young cats made all the answers. No accountability so it was great. It was always a great environment because every week. You know as this guy's assistant whose disgraced co two who focuses on the details of the work in a really can adapt and apply. Whatever he wanted to apply to to the group. And i was sitting on at monday. Or tuesday and i be in my office. Wait for the communist room with my suggestion. My idea things were things i wanted to do and he would always sit down agai- yet twenty seven things you gotta sound like great ideas but you gotta accountable perspective and i was trying to get as many ideas. Rats common thread. I mean we had chi-lan kyle shanahan and he said that he would take a second before putting the play call in and sean would be buzzing in from the box. How what we do this. Just just calm down for one. Second i'm going to get it out. I'm gonna call the plays sean exuberance of the young coach. But i find all three of you guys so interesting because you guys went from being assistant coaches to coordinators to then those head coaching jobs at pretty young ages and mike. I'll start with you. You go from tampa to then getting the defensive coordinator job in minnesota and then bill cowher retires and this pittsburgh job is opened up before you walked into that interview. I knew you knew you were ready for that moment. But what was kind of the mental process going into interview for the pittsburgh steelers head. Coaching job For me it's not like i was playing with house money. Big quite honestly two. That's probably why. Performed as well as i did interview in probably why i got the job. You know I didn't expect to be in that position. And i didn't see a whole lot of negatives in terms of being in that position and so i just winning there and i was very comfortable. I was myself united. Spent so much time just fighting to get a position to call defense and in particular when you work you work in tampere. You got raised like we got raised in tampa the veteran coaches in our group. You know they were just always. Yeah we wanna see what your tape looks like. And so like man. I of course so much energy into preparing to be a defensive coordinator and making sure that that tape was high in really not looking beyond that. That i didn't get enough time to really put too much weight on the opportunity. You know i went in there. I went in there. Like i was playing with house money and i think i think that worked to my advantage and rob. What about you that time with tampa. I know you were obviously an assistant with the team. But then the head coaching job. I mean that's a especially following in the steps of gruden. Who was a guy who you guys knew. Also well surely not peers. I've only forty six and the first one was ever walked into that view. Kinda like mike. Tomlin with the houses money i just the names coordinator Buccaneers wanted hottest defense in football taken over for a lot. A lot of a lot of situations people will run from an. I had already embraced. It and i was ready to go attack. That can go hit. It didn't run coach group I didn't get the job. And within weeks i was able to take over for the tampa. Bay buccaneers it'd be their head coach in that interview. Kinda hackett with our ownership over time. I think kind of happened. When i interviewed with those guys be dixie coordinated. Kind of happened Over the years. I think kind of happy with the decision making at some of the tools that that learned from this guy that fold One of the things that he told me that he expressed to me as coach was now if we both got the same opinion that one of his are not it. It always want perform my own opinion and going to all these situations out with an open mind With the reason to go out there and find people that would not like me. Go out there for people. That can't afford we talk about now. The rams basketball team we've always had that may challenge in front of people that go out there and find out what makes us that. What helps us like. We had in tampa or like we had in dc. I think those things are made us great bills. Beza got me into those opportunities like last year with atlanta. I'll then going into jacksonville. Have chest interview with those jobs so always going to play with the houses money. I don't think i ever go into it any other way. Come from new jersey in new jersey on that salary of general doubt. Let's let this thing play out and.

"Just gets better with age coach You have a guy in aaron donald on the other side of the ball. Who's as good at least as anyone who's ever done it. Who still in or around his prime. And now you've wrought in matthew stafford and you've got the offense of line and even with acres injury you have some depth to the running back position receivers everywhere you look. Is it super bowl or bus. Get this season for you. I you know. I think i think all thirty fifteen right now. Max have a goal of wanting to do that but you know we're really just going to enjoy building blocks one day at a time You know. I think that one of the things that we've been fortunate to do the last few years. Is that eight. You know there are expectations. I think that's a compliment. But you gotta earn that you know you gotta earn it every single day. Earn the confidence and you know. I'm excited about starting training camp with these guys next week and and really it's all build towards being you know healthy and ready to go by the time. We played the bears in week. One on september twelfth so A lot of confidence in the players that we have but knowing that we've got to earn it every single day. What is sean mcveigh rams head. Coach what is your favorite restaurant in los angeles. My favorite restaurant and that is that is the stuff one. There's a lot of different flavors. Nobu malibu is always a good one you know my fiancee. Loves giorgio bo the as do i that kind of in santa monica area craigslist. A good one the lila. There's a lot of really good played ball. These excellent no question. What have you been to sell. You got all kinds of different Ethnic cuisines all over los angeles. I i have not been to the good ones befell with a b. Yes yes quite. But then i haven't been there. Yeah oh yeah. Yeah no that's the thing about l. A. and i'm from new york when you get to. La go god people's people in new york talk down the food in la or they nuts. It's amazing eating. It is outstanding. I remember a couple of years ago after the loma chanko fight scene you. At wolfgang puck's restaurant across the way with the crew crewman. That was one night we all had. Are you coming out in the near future coach. I i don't think so. But after the season i i i was glad to see the way that of You know made a great come back and look in order to stand that rematch with pfm lopez at some point if we can get. That worked out my fiance's from ukraine. And i've been a big loma ching-kuo fan ever since we've been following them coach. As a matter of fact you'll be happy to hear this. There are problems with the with the female cambosix fight. They want to move it to australia. Most camp is not happy about that. Meaning according to my copter on my show. Maximum boxing fridays. Espn two five pm. According to my copy he was saying that. There's a good likelihood now that this year we can get the low michenko huma lopez rematch. So i agree. I love watching wilma. Cento fight he is a pleasure to watch and coach. Your team is a pleasure to watch as well. Thank you very much for coming on the show. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me on the great. Sean mcvay ladies and gentlemen. Let's be honest one of the reasons that the rams now that they have the horses are considered among the favorites is because they have a thirty five year old wunderkind head coach guy who is one of the best offensive mines and the game eight eight say..

"By the way jae crowder. You don't have to design. plays for them either. They're they're effective without the ball. Both ends of the floor and they can. Any one of those guys can go for fifteen twenty points without really trying just by being be open man if the guards get them. The baugh chris. Paul and devon booker. He's chris. Paul is absolutely right in isolated against these isos situations. Why did devon booker gets stripped in game five because everyone knew including drew holiday that even though book was double teamed he was still going to try and shoot so he came to help a double a triple team at that. Point devon booker realized because a very high basketball. Iq did he realize there are three. Someone's open my answer would be yes. of course. He knew that but he didn't care. That's that's one of the downsides of the mamba mentality. Kobe bryant did the same kind of stuff kobe. Bryant was the best badge. Shotmaker of all time. Jordan's the greatest player of all time because even though he was an amazing bad shotmaker he took more good. Shots and devon booker is a mini. Mamba he is a killer but gets tunnel vision sometimes especially under pressure. We had a program director. Mike thomson in la maximum ourselves. Marcellus wiley and i had a radio show very very popular radio so popular raj. I mean this thing was popular so good that we could even carry rogers a producer. No still ahead. At any rate. Mike thomson knew early on mercer and i started doing radio together if it was like a slow news day or something. Sometimes i'd be trying to do too much right and mike thompson's like listen when things don't try and pull so hard. Relax a little bit. Trust your teammates. He was right. Devon booker has to stop the tunnel vision doubled tripled teams laden games and find the open man because the open man's going to be michael mckell bridges or or or cam johnson or chris paul and all these dudes can shoot and they and they're not afraid to take the shot. Now on the goodyear hotline baron davis star third overall pick jumped out the jim. Barron lives what's going on a long time. No hear yeah. So are you doing good Barron we're looking at one former clippers point guard to another. We're looking at chris. Paul and as great as he was against denver and his great as he wasn't game six in the conference finals. He just looks at a gas the last couple days. What do you see when you look at chris paul right now or as a spill like you know if you look at his numbers It'd be percent twenty. Points down near london assis- You know they could easily be a you know a three two or series could be over if they make plano. What what what is the statute name. I think you know. I think that's swear. I believe i. I feel like he needs to just be a little bit more aggressive You know you can tell that You know in milwaukee's doing a hell of a job now like crowd. You gotta think this is a finals. Everybody's seeing each other right Nobody's really dominating everybody's hitting tough shots and you know for chris. I just think he needs to go out. And just be aggressive from the start you know. It looks like he's been pacing himself and just trying to get his offense of them. But i feel like the more aggressive is in you know Kinda pisces right. The better That's gonna translate for his so barren your i heard zeke's thomas the hall of famer. Say the same kind of thing. You know like chris paul. He says he's playing playing it safe that he's playing with chris. Paul can be very perfect but he wants to see him not playing to win. Not playing not to lose now. That's not what i'm seeing. I'm not saying it's not there if they had. Thomas is seeing that and you're also seeing. He's he's not aggressive enough. Okay let's say that's there but to me. It just looks like maybe. It's i dunno lingering. A fog of covert or maybe. It's the ligaments in the hand or something. Something looks not right to me about him. Do you think there's something physical or do you think it's something between the ears. Everybody as you know social media microscope like all things media my You can kinda nitpick but you know. Think about it man. Whose are the last two guys and right. The last two teams standing. And you know they'd be each other up there flying back in for. I mean you know we look at all the great sending game series or series In the finals you know you start. Seeing you know fatigue set in on bosa right even You know you go back to you. Know the golden state with brian game. Seven mike that was ugly day but it was exciting. Because you knew that no one had anything left to give you know outside of that day. And i think that's the same thing you're seeing is you know in. The finals is a whole 'nother level of intensity a home other level of energy. And like you're at the end right. So you know. I think both sizes who saying you know the teague right but you're also saying is before a high level being exhaust khris middleton located beyond these guys also on their knees so you know they just put a microscope. Chris paul and ceos teague and things i made you know everybody's time It's just a matter of them getting over the hump. I think a couple of may shots you know. Couple incredible defensive plays like what is really getting credits to milwaukee and their ability to law down defensively and come up with incredible place. Now stretch right in this series because oh could have went either way I'm sure you can attest to that extra. Just kinda watch and the gay already won the series sons make sons make two more plays than they could have already won the series. I mean that's the way these things. Go right tackle barron. I know you think. I promise you know on our shoulders. Only talking about the great things so you know. I just think that it's a. It's a unfair microscope. Right the kid i mean. He's he's playing well enough for the position themselves to win to put their best office player devon booker position and You know i just think. Throughout the course of the game he has to you know be more of a risk taper and the dictator that he is in order for them to win but give credits walkie and their ability to you know. Basically trust cycle. Darren before we get out of here. I know you're doing something with dominos while you know about them. Bones they're moving. I made a movie. Domino's dot balls jobs today on of all platforms You know i kinda master. Domino's i wanted to bring domino's to four five. You know just a film in carriages. So that is funny. "Because the packers apparently now or releasing in you know back channeling leaking info about offers. They supposedly made first of all a two year. Extension is actually a way to ease financial burden in terms of the salary cap. When you give a quarterback in extension the reason both parties rework. The deal is the quarterback get back. Get some money up front. And the team gets to pro rate the bonus over more years so they actually give themselves some breathing room with the cap. That's the point and the packers are trying to spin that to me. Look we made an offer. You gotta stop that you gotta stop that it's such pa- like no wonder roger even in the middle of all this. The i guess the only thing that can be said is the packers. No he's out. There's not we can. We just have to try to put a happy face on it now from our point of view because he's out because if you still thought you had a chance to get him you would not be behaving this way. You would not be putting out there in the press. Hey we you know. We try to a two year extension. 'cause that's just going to antagonize especially a veteran player. Who knows how the game is played the game behind the game. Who knows what the team is really trying to do by. Try to make what we made. An effort needed. I keep saying. I'll say it one more time and we got to get to the nba. Finals this is howard. Stern you do this with gary la still does. I'm sure although i haven't heard it recently he he'd like making repeat after me like mark murphy and and and bryan should repeat after me. I'm going to help them right now. Aaron rodgers is our boss. Murphy and getting kunst have aaron rodgers and do publicly. Aaron rodgers is our boss. He tells us what to do. It needs to be their new. Mantra is needed. Keep repeating that aaron rodgers. Our boss he tells us what to do. You know why they wouldn't come out and do that really because they'd find it humiliating but the reason they find it. Humiliating is because they lack the requisite humility to be the of front office. That wins the super bowl takes humility. They do not humiliated. And what do i mean by this. Football has its roots in the military. It's a military game. It's a metaphor for war and has his roots in west point. And i think what really Really football people just can't abide by. They they can't abide by the can abide the idea of insubordination or rank jumping. You know chain of command because players were always essentially told either explicitly or implicitly or both stay in your lane and certainly. They're not going to call the shots on a team. And good and kunst murphy were operating in a world where that was true because it was true in the nfl until pretty recently like last couple of years. The rules changes finally added up to quarterbacks being so important in the offense that the very best of the best like brady or rogers or mahomes could call shots but the packers had treated rogers through the years. Reportedly like we don't even wanna hear from you. When rogers finally realized that think. Okay wait a minute. Times have changed. I have power here. The packers didn't adjust their attitude. And if i were there front office. I'd be like you know ever see dave chapelle and half baked. When he apologized to samson he said samson. I'm sorry because sampson had crossbow on him. His i'm sorry. That's mark murphy. And brian guten. Kunst had to act like dave chapelle haffey samson rogers. I'm sorry i'm sorry. I don't you that crossbow. They needed to really be like we were wrong. You're right we are stupid. You are smart. We are not very good looking. You're very handsome. The whole happy gilmore. They'd do the whole thing the jobs the whole thing and then they had to do it publicly. And then they had to make the biggest offer in the history of football and all of that with the attitude of he's calling. Rogers is calling the shots. We need to change his mind. If they would have done that they would have had a chance to keep him but they were under the impression that they were calling the shots. And now they're gonna lose. Aaron rodgers seems to me. nba finals. Game six you can hear the whole game on espn radio. What are the sons need to do to extend the series chris. Paul had some good ideas about that. Listen into isos situations a lot of times. It may work here and there but us moving ball making sure everybody's touching it. It's a fine line between all of that. I mean i played in houston to where that was that was i am. Oh we wanted to get your team here. I think we're at our best win. The ball is happened. Everybody's getting a chance to to shoot. He's absolutely right about that. Chris that was the nba on espn radio. Absolutely right about that when you think of this lineup. The problem the sons have run into other than being hurt so their frontline is then what i like so much about. The suns is the back court fits to ball dominant. Guards both can play on or off ball but one's really pure point guard is best as a pure point guard. Although chris paul's scoring machine off the bobbitt pure point guard pure shooting guard right but both can be combo players but their best cast in those roles and then the are side by side and then at forward you know they call mikhail bridges and cam johnson the twins because they're like almost the same height and they have very similar games when cam johnson is right. He's defending given excellent defender. But they're both like three and guys who can really shoot but three indeed who could shoot plus plus they have athletic ability plus they can get their own shots better than normal three guy. And then you have the andre eight and the big and then you have jae crowder. Who's the perfect kind of swiss army knife. Modern player and campaign showed he can run the offense they without really seven deep. But when you think about it one of the things i liked so much about. The construction of the team is d andre. The big who can roll to the basket and you don't have to design design plays for de'andre eight and you can you don't have to because he can get his points in the flow of the game at twenty points and mikhail bridges and cam johnson.

McVay in Better Mood, Says He's Better Coach With Stafford
"Story will bring back in. Involves these relationships in the nfl between coaching quarterback that we've talked about several times when you have that you know you got something special when the coach and the quarterback are on the same page when they kind of have that unity. You saw what. What tom brady. And bruce arians able to do right away You obviously see what you have in kansas. City greg's andy. Reid patrick mahomes these. These duos are very important. We thought maybe. Sean mcvay jared goff where we're going to be that power couple. They did get to a super bowl but then things broke up pretty quickly there. And sean mcvay is this guy that clearly is the excitable one out of the two right is that goes without saying so mcveigh. Listen to how he talks about how he feels about now having matthew stafford at his as his quarterback and he did this during a press conference to promote the super bowl in. La in the rams head coach. Let's just say gushed very heavy. Thank you seem like you're in a better mood aussies. You're damn right. I am so this guy He's a special guy. One of the best ways that i can describe him when you hear people that have been around him. There's a there's a known confidence where it when he walks into a room noah's field presence but he's got a great humility about himself at. Everybody loves being around him and he's one of those guys that is it true igniter makes everybody around him better. I feel like i can come up better. Coaching a few months that we've been able to spend together and we're looking forward to get things together. Sounds pretty excited about this new relationship. He's got about stafford and all he can bring in all he's already brought to the franchise what it means to him. What it's done for him as a coach that sounds like a guy that is much happier in his new

Rams' Sean McVay noncommittal on future of Jared Goff as starter: 'I'm evaluating everything, including QB'
"So there's been a lot of talk you know. Mcvay doesn't criticize a lot of people. And even when he does he's chose to sugar coat and everything's on the table so you may have heard. Essentially he said saturday after the playoff loss to the packers that jared goff quarterback right now with the emphasis on the last two words there sunday. He said everything's on the table but maybe he was giving us an indication that this was happening and things were bubbling a couple of weeks ago. Go back to their first playoff game. There wildcard game against the seattle seahawks key. This is just me speculating. You tell me having been in so many locker rooms and having dealt with so many situations right that game john. Wolford is starting quarterback. Jared goff is the number two quarterback with a thumb injury. This is important. there is no number. Three quarterback blake bortles inactive. So if john wolford where to get injured during the game which actually happened very scary neck injury ambulance came out. Then jared goff would presumably have to come in for the next snap and with no number three quarterback he would have to presumably play the rest of the game. So help me understand. If you're in a situation where wolfer gets hurt on the second snap. Hypothetically fourth snap the game. You've got a rush right in there and likely finished the game because nobody is behind you on the depth chart if you were healthy enough to do that. Play almost every single. Snap of a game if something goes wrong with the starter right out of the gate which is exactly what happened. How in the world are you not healthy enough to start. I think look in the end. It's all about numbers. If they put three quarterbacks up the somebody else has to go down and on an active list. And maybe they wanna. I don't know what they wanted. But maybe they want an extra defense alignment or extra offense alignment or whatever the case may be also when you didn't have the necessary reps throughout the course of the week for jared goff as he was practicing because of the surgery they kind of eased him alone in kind of wanted to let it heal but he was forced in action so therefore the you had no other choice.

Rams superstar Aaron Donald upset at end of playoff loss
"The packers thirty two eighteen on saturday and heading into the weekend lindsay. You wrote that you were really excited to see this. Coaching matchup between matlock floor. And sean mcvay. What stood out to you in the battle of the minds here. Yeah i mean because these are two guys who know each other so well and you know. They're very much part of the same coaching tree. They both worked under kyle shanahan about the flora then works Under sean mcvay. So they have very similar offensive philosophies but that was just a game that was full of really interesting. Coaching matchups mallon floor wine. That batch up by far the packers had the better game plan. They were the better team better coach. All of this and sure aaron. Donald was not at full strength. You could tell that. He was very clearly hampered by the rib injury that he suffered during the wild card round but it was just a very impressive performance overall by aaron rodgers and certainly by matt leflore and that entire coaching staff the packers put up four hundred and eighty four yards of total offense against basically the best defense in the league. talked about aaron donald. Who's just a generational talent. Not being at full strength. But how is this packers offense. So effective saturday night. We'll everything they do. Obviously starts with aaron rodgers. Who just seem to have this innate mastery of what was coming and it kind of went viral on twitter a little bit because so many of fox's camera angles shown face on with aaron rodgers where you could see the moment that he realized what was coming that he was able to diagnose the coverage and dictate the play based on what was coming and the offensive line played really well protecting aaron rogers. He was barely touched. I'm not sure if his jersey had a single grass stain on after the game. And you know when you're not getting pressure on a quarterback and you're running the ball really well and you have davante adams who's one of the best wide receivers and football. It really wasn't even a close match up. And you know. I know a lot of people in green bay throughout packers land. Were wondering this is the best defense in football and it has to make you wonder. If that's the way that the packers aaron rodgers played against supposedly the best defense in football. What are they going to do for the rest of the

Green Bay predictions: NFC divisional playoff vs. Los Angeles
"It we've been talking about. The announcement. Made sean mcvay announcing jared goff will be the starting quarterback this weekend for the green bay packers or four. The la rams against the green bay packers in green bay. Where right now. The packers on pregame.com. Six and a half point favorites. It's important to remember and it's obvious green. Bay's the number one see green bay. Is the one team the gutter by so the question is how to buy teams do in the playoffs. So if we look back and say okay. Let's look at the modern era. As i call two thousand twelve and beyond and that's because it's the first year four year after the new agreement that changed a practicing and all that things is. This really did change after that. And from twelve on teams off a by or with the by the playoffs who are not favored by a touchdown or more nine and five against the spread so a wonderful. Ats record for reasonably priced by team. The number one or in the past and the number two seed now the next game. We're going to cover and we're going to finish up. The rams is going to be kansas city. Who's the other by team. They're in a different category spread wise and it's different results in that game now. Why do i like green bay. And it is against the sharks. We talked about the sharps. Like the ramps and remember they like the rams plus seven and a half they like the rams a-plus avid now element mind is six and a half. So it's obviously. I don't have to go head to head with the sharps as much as i'm getting a slightly better number and i still disagreeing with them. Though in another reason is i think the rams are little bit overrated on. Defense doesn't mean i don't think they have a good defense. I think they have a top five defense. But i think this price is telling us because we know the offense is and all that good and we know. Jerry gov is playing all that well all the doubts about golf and mcveigh's questioned that's all given how they still the sharp side. It's a defensive matter or it's an anti packers. That's the only reason you could the rams you love their defense or you don't like the pack which it can't be about the rams offense it just can't be so even though you could make the case. Oh the rams can run. The ball aggressively in green bay struggled against that last year. Okay maybe but boy if you're one dimensional. That's tough and the reason. Though i think the rams d might be a little overrated is because if you look at their strength of opposition and we're talking about the opposing offenses now. There's been numerous times throughout the year that they didn't play the best quarterback that that team had throughout the year. So let's use the perfect example. Arizona cardinals were the seventeenth. Best offense in football show right about average so the rams playing that offense their defense against that offense. It looks like okay. The rams dominated an average offense. That's a good thing except the quarterback. Wasn't the normal starting quarterback for the car knows. It wasn't collor murray. It was a backup

Aaron Rodgers reveals he will guest host an episode of 'Jeopardy!'
"New permanent replacement for the late. Great alex rebecca as the host of jeopardy has not yet been named The final recorded episodes with travek aired last week. I think he's gonna totally nail it and and hopefully it will be so distracting that he will forget about aaron donald and get sacked four times on saturday. Yeah by the way i think. They're basically having tryouts for jeopardy aren't they. Yeah you alex trebek's recommended for that job. Which was a huge compliment. Was alex faust the kings young announcer. Yeah he is. Canadian sees a hockey fan and he would watch kings games at home and he thought alec said the look in the voice to host. Jeopardy's i don't know if alex is going to get a crack at it. But but he was recommended by alex. Trebek's himself To be a potential guest host.

Kyrie Irving's absence from Nets will continue; NBA, Nets to review videos that appear to show party
"Talking a little bit about the situation with kyrie irving and the brooklyn nets just to highlight it. Kyri sorta went awol. This week ended up according to video at his sisters thirtieth birthday party. Without a mask he is going to deal with some covert protocol issues right now and there's really no explanation. Why he disappeared in the first place. Mike what do you do for with kyrie irving. Well simple if i was sean marks. Gm would call kerry in or text him or call him on the phone or whatever and asking plain and simple. Are you in as your heart in this or not. Yes or no and if he says yes and get your behind back here to work and let's go to work. This is unfair to your teammates and to the brooklyn fans. Either in or you're out one of you can't be halfway can't be you know we all have personal things to deal with in our lives. We all have to work through them. You know death sickness. Whatever but you gotta find out is are you in this year or not. Let me know now. Yeah i don't know if with that's an if he'd says no. I don't notice it will tell you what we'll just put your leave of absence. I'll try to do it without you. Do you really think re- ever knows his. He is one of the most ignites matic matic players in the league right. But you gotta find out just painted thirty-seven million bucks a year so you got to find out if he's if his heart's in it or

3 Fun Facts About the NFL Wild Card Weekend
"Card Weekend fun facts. Did you know that I did not notice the head coach of the Colts Frank Reich Greek Reich, right? Let's go with Reich. He looks like our friend Rob Chickering. Hi, every time we see Craig a sponge bag. That's not the fun fact. So the fun fact is like for those of you who don't know who to help Rob Chickering is that does not matter know the fun fact is Frank Wright was drafted by the bills from 1985 and he faces them this weekend in the wild card game that fun fact more. Fun fact, Amy and I weren't even born yet. That's more amazing fun. Right no choice. Oh, yeah. I mean fun fact number to Pete Carroll is 34 years and 131 days older than Sean McVay. So Seattle plays the Rams this coming weekend right? I know a dead. All right, so Pete Carroll 34 years and 131 days older than Sean McVeigh which sets the record for the largest age differential between opposing head coaches in a playoff game in NFL history. This is so dorky. I'm pretty convinced Joey said you that one because she's been walking around feeding me stats from the 2013 Seahawks season. Shoot me fucking shoot me dead. Yeah, so I didn't realize that a baby shot McVeigh is but he totally is again, we've been like, oh my gosh, like cradle-robbing with him. Yeah. He's younger than I am fuck off. Okay, I don't want let's not talk about it. All right moving on the one thing real quick remove on cuz you're talking about the Seahawks because of the masks. I miss Pete Carroll chewing like a maniac I miss seeing them come with you can't see it under his mask know remember when he'd see his mouth like this like I'm doing a search. Yeah. I look like a squirrel but like it's his mouth go Bonkers and the gifts were better that way now we're just looks dead. A mask that's vibrating. It's weird. Maybe it is maybe he's got some fun going on toward his mask. That's the mask. We need adds to the most everybody needs a phone. Next. Fun fact, fun fact number three Lamar Jackson won the MVP in 2019, but he lost in the playoffs to the Titans. Now, they face the Titans again this weekend and change history does not suggest that he will get revenge because each of the previous quarterbacks to lose a playoff game the year that they won MVP and then played the same opponent following year lost that rematch. So if you're going by that fact, you're looking at a Titans win,

Goff's passing, Williams' picks lead Rams past Seattle 23-16
"The rams defense came up big in a twenty three sixteen win over the Seahawks LA held the NFL's highest scoring team to its fewest point total of the season the rams made things tough on Russell Wilson forcing the Seattle quarterback into three turnovers and sacking him six times naturally head coach Sean McVay was delighted just our defense as a whole I mean you just can't say enough about what they've consistently done doing it against an offense that's arguably opposition at the highest level in the league right now very pleased with them on the offensive side Jared Goff threw for three hundred yards and Malcolm brown had two rushing touchdowns mark motors Inglewood California

Two Seattle Seahawks earn Player of the Week honors after dominant Week 1 win
"Maybe, the most impressive team of the day was Seattle. Russell Wilson was thirty one of thirty, five, Oh my God for three, hundred, twenty, two, yards, four touchdowns no picks. That's ridiculous. Thirty one of thirty five metcalf picked up where he left off big day and they destroyed Atlanta and and I think that NFC west is just going to be fascinating all year long Seattle's not going to have a home field advantage. You're not GonNa have that twelfth man thing they got going out there but man, they're they're good and they're a veteran team I I think Seattle. Really is going to be a very difficult to deal with this year that quarterback may be in the prime of his career right now what year nine for him it is e was so special in that game. He was so good. It's just he's. Become. So, much fun to watch play fast the operates and how he's really gotten such a feel for the game. Become what Sean mcvay would call an extension of the offensive coordinator He's in control. It was also game that Matt Ryan threw for four, hundred, fifty they were down I mean, Julio Jones, at Fifty Ridley at one, hundred, thirty gauge to gauge at and fourteen. They, Have Hayden hearst they IRV Smith I think Atlantic could be good. Defense has been a problem for a while which is weird because it's Dan Quinn to think about that. which was Laying the first coordinator when the seahawks became. Great. Exactly.

Bengals at the Combine in Indianapolis, taking a closer look at Joe Burrow
"With us here from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where we will be all week so much going on. I'm waiting next with Adam. Schefter Louis Riddick Todd mcshay and Mike Tannenbaum just to catch you up right now. Here's what's happening today in Indianapolis. It will be a very busy week. At Five o'clock eastern though owners are expected to meet players to talk about the new CBA which could expand the playoffs and move to a seventeen game regular season. We've got forty seven. Nfl head coaches and GMT. We'll be talking today. You're also hear from SEC. Standouts Joe Borough and to a ton of Aloha who also addressed the media earlier today. Jonesboro put on an absolute show as you know on route to a national championship for Lsu setting an FBI. Single season record with sixty touchdown passes and Ditto. While completing a whopping seventy six percents of his passes and not only that but bro won the heisman trophy in dominant fashion receiving a record ninety point seven percent of the first place votes here. Our previous comments from Joe Borough on February seventeenth during a reception. For the Davey. O'brien award. He had this to say I do have leveraged the Bengals have their process and I have my process. We haven't even gotten to the combine yet. There's a lot of things that happened. Leading up to the draft. A lot of information gathered bras. Mother Robin shot down the idea. Her son does not want to play for the bengals. Saying we have no idea where that came from. It's a story out there that has created that doesn't have any substance at least from our perspective here Hasbro earlier today here at the combine. Of course I want to be the first pick. That's that's every kid's dream you know I've worked really really hard for this opportunity and I'm blessed to be in this position. I'm a ball player. Whoever picks me on my go show up? How play whoever for forever dressing? You know. I'm just not going to be presumptuous. About what they WANNA DO I. It's the draft. You guys have been covered it for a long time and you never know what's going to happen so we played a month longer than everyone else and everyone else's been training a month longer than us you know. I wanted to put. I don't I didn't think I'd be able to put my best foot forward here at the combine so I wanted to wait till pro day had another whole month of training and just be the best that I could be when everyone when. Everyone's eyes are on me. You know coming in. If you're the number one pick the teen is picking number one. Is there for a reason? So you're going to have to come in. There's going to be ups and downs and you've got to stay steady through the process. Our research tells us about Joe. Borough is his own man. He's not going to be talked into saying things for other people's benefits so if that's what he said. That's that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting to know him getting to meet him through. The process haven't been able to sit down with them yet. But we've got that on the horizon. We'll talk more about Joe. Boroughs plans to hold off throwing here at the combine. But might I'll start with you in terms of do you want? Do you not want to play for the being. You have any issues at all with where we landed at least at this point. No I mean as I said last week Joe Borough at the end he does not have leverage. The bengals have the first pick in the draft. If they want to draft. Joe Joe Borough. That's where he's GonNa go now with that. Said I think it's incumbent upon sack Taylor in the Bengal organization to create the Right Environment. Where he could come in and they could build something sustainable and truly transformative so. I think where we wended. Wendy is appropriate last week. He could've handled that better but to Joe Boroughs credit. I think they tweak things I think they're in a good spot now. He's been well-coached past week. Tower doesn't it. Yeah and Adema to your Do All your contacts. It appears that borough likely young he's projected pick. I still think that's where the bengals ultimately go. And they're sitting there and that's about this a team that needs somebody to revitalize that franchise and they are expected to look to trade Andy Dalton at some point this off season and so when you're sitting there in division with Lamar Jackson there in Baltimore think that they know that they have to get somebody in there. That's going to put some points on the Board Baker Mayfield Cleveland and this is going to be the pick for the Cincinnati bengals. Even Joe was considering trying to exercise some kind of leverage really the only leverage you have is withhold your services and not playing not report even if he was thinking along those lines. Let's say he's doing a deep dive trying to figure out exactly. Just what the Cincinnati offer as far as developing me as a quarterback. Could you blame him? Could you really blame him for wanting to dig? Deep on exactly what? What does the future going to look like during over the course of my rookie contract with this football team would exactly? What exactly is Mike Brown's commitment to go ahead and building out this roster around me because we all know a lot of what's going to happen to him has nothing to do with him and has everything to do with everything that's going to be around him. Just look at the past three or four drafts. And how certain players have benefited from going to certain to certain teams? Just look at l a look at the difference between jar rookie year in his second year. Sean mcvay came in. It flipped his rookie year. People were saying Jared Goff to Canada. All of a sudden his second year is like. Oh wait a minute. Maybe he's not so bad you couldn't blame him. If that was a thought Lewis to that point I also think an opportunity. If you're Zach Taylor to say hey what's happened in the past. It's irrelevant we're going to myself with you and we're going to build something great and we can't worry about what's happened before we have a lot of work to do. But if I'm the bengals if I have a hey coach Taylor. That's worked with quarterbacks. Like you mentioned Jared Goff Joe Boroughs Billy and character. That's a great opportunity for the bengals. Sino three things one. Is that if something were to go on with. The bengals is not going to happen in public and this has been addressed in the past week if it's going to happen behind the scenes so whatever we hear from this point on. Don't even don't even look at it. Don't think about it because it has nothing to do with with what is going on behind the scenes. The second thing is this guy's different cab he beats. It goes a Beatles drummer. He doesn't care what anyone else has done. In the past what everyone else is GonNa do in the future? He's going to do what's best for Joe Borough but the third thing I know about him is he's a football guy he's his. His brothers played linebacker at safety at Nebraska. His Dad's a almost four decades coach in football. He's a football guy at its core. He's from Ohio. Obviously I think when it's all said and done he winds up going in Cincinnati if he's number one overall pick but again. If it's GonNa Happen it's GonNa Happen. Not In the media. It's GonNa happen behind the scenes again. Joe Bro not expected to throw on Thursday. He said he just wasn't ready yet. Not a huge deal. Sam Darnold Kyla Murray. The last two years have opted not to throw here at the combine as well. What did make headlines on Sunday? Oddly enough pros hand measurements the measurable quarterbacks took place on Sunday on the smaller side. Love listen here's what he said after it was suggested his aunt size was small considering retirement after. I was informed that we slipping out of my tiny hands. Please keep me in your thoughts while he's got good company because here's what Super Bowl fifty four. Mvp Patrick Mahomes had to say who had just slightly larger hands than did borough my small Andrew doing great so far all right he should say believe in yet. Here's borough earlier today addressing his hands. Yeah I mean these measurements you can. You can take so much from them if it's a glaring issue on film with turnovers. Yeah it's probably an issue but I didn't have a lot of fumbles or anything like that so I just tried to make a little joke out of it I think it's a non factor I don't get paid to talk about. Measurements and analyze. The measurements like played to play football. So that's what I'm GONNA do. I look we're not gonNA make too much of this question. Well yet about what? They actually do what they're actually measuring here so worry not. We've got a ruler. We've got Louis at. I mean really what you're really trying to do is just trying to measure the expense of someone and they put it down on the ground and you actually hear about guys actually doing hand exercises to stretch their hand as wide as possible although when you're grabbing a football you're actually going to measure from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the Pinky here and this is hard because this is a hard rule and you can't really get good accurate measuring you look tired type by just under nine right. Look I'll give you a non center's Oh that's attention and would have actually done something with my. I mean what's interesting when you watch the tape of Joe Borough? There are situations where people come from behind strip him when he's trying to move up in the pocket and run. I mean that's going to happen if you have nine if you have ten inches so I mean it's not a glaring obvious problem as far as him on the football field and that's why I think it's really. It's just going to be something that will hopefully wind up forgetting about certain the biggest thing is and you know this with all of these drills you know as well. Mike you go back to the tape and you're trying to find something after the fact that says okay. Now I'm going to look specifically at these things so you're gonNA look cold weather rain and then ball security and Joe Boroughs as good as any college quarterback you're ever going to see in the pocket in terms of two hands on the ball and protecting the ball. I saw him in two thousand eighteen the last weekend. In September against Ole Miss. You can go back and watch the tape. My suit was soaking wet when I did the open of that game. It was pouring rain driving rain in anyone who says it doesn't rain in Baton Rouge on a Saturday night is lying to you. Because it poured and he completed seventy two percent of his throws with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in that game. So you go back to the tape and you try to look at these things and what the tape tells you is. He's just fine. You know I had a theory here. I have an interesting experience with hand size so I was forced out in two thousand eight. We were we trade for Brett Farve and just as a fan of sport. I can't wait to go out to the first practice and watch Brett farve throw. There's nothing physically imposing about breath and he goes out there and he's throwing Abe I've ever seen and I ask them like what is the value. Where's this philosophy comes from it? He said you know what Mike I have long fingers and I actually couple of football the way a lot of people throw a softball. I could actually be over the top and that's where I get all my philosophy from just watching my practice. It was unbelievable to watch though. I know as Lewis show. There's a tradition of how we measure hands but finger. Length is actually an underrated aspect of playing quarterback so far so far small hands but long fingers and you know what my pinky and all the time strong throwing football pictures of the five. It's easily the least important finger in the hand and I can't remember it ever being a big factor. It's all there in the grip. The pinky to me doesn't matter. It's archaic. How we're measuring the quarterback's hand span now with that. Said there's thirty four quarterbacks in the last fourteen years who have been drafted that have had hands of nine inches and smaller and really only two of them had any sort of Sustained Success Ryan. Tannehill is one of them and Jared. Goff is the other. That's it so there are thirty two out of thirty four. Who have failed. But are we going to say that he's going to the Joe Boroughs? Not GonNa have success because his hands tells me that the reason for their failure wasn't because they were nine inches weight.

Saturday’s NFL schedule is an unexpected delight: Three games with high stakes
"And we had some great games yesterday we had Texans defeating the Bucks wrapping up another A. F. C. south champs there for for five seasons they've done that we ended up having the rails be eliminated by Jimmy garage below Robbie gold late into that ballgame is the forty Niners looking for that number one seed but it was all about the New England Patriots once again and of course they win the AFC east for the eighty seventh consecutive year and bill Belichick was asked about you know where that ASC east hat how do you like the fit of the hat the current lower Nyssa can you imagine it sounds like or how should show press good right yep yep yep sounds good me we can get it done with all its music and I played with Brett Farr is that's that's fair is there a worst give me because who buys that I mean you know you're always looking for a last second Christmas gifts I mean does anyone actually own an A. F. C. east champs T. series in fairness you're offered up a banner that they participated in AFC championship so there are two New England is not gonna be one of those programs that is excited about a hat from an AFC east championship that I think you just said eighty seven straight yeah they're not but but you don't think of the Browns won their division that those hats would go flying off the shelves I I guess right again it's it's expectation level on where you've been and I was in baton Rouge earlier this week and I looked at it and it had give the semi final game tee shirts as you know against Oklahoma there like a get ready for the peach bowl this could be great Mike that's got to be a tough sell as far as merchandise did you want to say that you went there yeah you want to take it that you went to the game yes but it's not the end all be all for Ellis shoots to win a national championship in is to have the national championship cert against probably either I think the Clemson Tigers at Ohio state if they're able defeat defeat Oklahoma but for the patriots it's incredible that they continue to do it and I think I go back and look at Sean McVay tell sure and what happened I thought this was interesting his quote about not going to the Super Bowl would ready to attack the Aussies it is tough because you care so much about these players the work that they put in and you want to do your part to try to you know see yourself you know have see those guys have that success and get an opportunity compete for World Championship we're not gonna do that but I do trust that were made of the right stuff I know that once we get through next week I can't wait to attack the off season figure out how I can be better for this football team as we move forward and I think the scars are gonna make us better it's interesting you know the last time I heard bill Belichick talking give something similar a speech two thousand eight I don't even think you gave that speech river Brady was alpha back castle ins of coming in after Brady got injured in the first couple of games and they go eleven five that was the last time it's been over a decade since the patriots had to give a speech like that and when I see Sean McVay who was this hot you know commodity they go they lost a wild card game made it to the Super Bowl in your two and we're thinking all right he's figured out the game he's brilliant makes me appreciate tells her what bill Belichick and the patriots continue to do in this sport appeared at the end of a yeah and that's why it's been the gray of people say it's the greatest run dynasty in the history of the league because how everything is structured for this not to happen and you see that these teams that lose super bowls the hang over effect there is something there because it's so hard to get in that position and then when you just fall short of it the error just comes completely out and having to reboot now they're rebooting and when you give up draft picks like the rams have and they have a full offense of why they have to re vamp you know in a way it is not left tackle he's getting older if he's gonna come back and play there's a lot of different things that they're going to have to deal with in the Sean McVay the genius title and why so many of these young coaches got hired that was not the case for a majority this season they did come on and play better at the end of the year but there is a stretch in the middle of the season this team was lost so they have a lot of work to do show my face got to figure out kind of new ways to reinvent what he's doing with the personalities gonna have it in you try to re invented and we see reinventing offices work right we we see with what the ravens have done under Lamar Jackson we sell it Sean make very had done obviously with the rams and the collegiate level though I think you can win a national championship by reinventing your office I you look at the LSU Tigers and and what we seen even clubs and while work with but in the NFL it's tried and true it's not about how great your offenses ask Patrick well homes as he has a super beau yet now is arguably the most impressive player often simply we've seen in years but it's about the defense and I guess we still trust the patriots more than anyone because of that defense dowsers or anyone else no I mean right now if you ask me I trust Baltimore and what they're doing running the football and then the defense because it used to be it was all defense and still it keeps you in these games but with the roles and how things go use you have to be able to move the football and that's why the people have been more down on this patriots team because they've struggled so much all season well yesterday was the first real glimpse in the last three or four weeks that you see you know what maybe and now I think you're gonna see a little bit of that doubt start coming back

49ers finish off their home slate in 2019 with an NFC West divisional matchup against the Rams
"We'll get things going then. In the Saturday night slot words the forty niners playing host to the rams. You're looking at the forty niners. A six and a half point favorite in this contest. Test total at forty five at Fox numbers tick tick trickle take down. Whatever the hell you want to say for forty six and a half on the open we know? The Rams playoff hopes are on life support. Pain the forty niners need to win to keep pace with the seahawks in their quest for a division title obviously they would like to win out and try and secure that number one overall seed read. This is actually going to be the largest underdog the rams have been stalled in football. Game with Sean mcvay. As their head coach they even rested starters late in the year season ago. And we're in catching six and a half but when you look at the rams performance against the Dallas cowboys all that optimism that enthusiasm that energy that the rams have found that two thousand eighteen swagger the goes out the window but the forty niners on the other side they need to bounce back after they were upset as a double digit favored by the Atlanta Falcons. It wasn't the best of matchups for the rams last week. And you know you look here in. It's it's not the best match up in this game either. It's week sixteen right like we've talked about these teams over and over. It can sound a little repetitive. But I think if you're looking at Jared Goff you're looking at mcvay you're looking at girl in this rams offense. The biggest thing is the ability to negate pressure right inevitably when it gets to Goff. How is he going to handle it? These are the things that matter most on this side of the ball and you go back to that week. Six matchup in golf just GONNA do anything. Sacked four times pressured. Twenty two did not handle that very well. One point seven yards per pass attempt zero explosive passes had a twenty nine percent passing success rate. That was with all three receivers healthy to back then so there wasn't any issues In being shorthanded. Now there's this lingering thumb issue golf hit his thumb on a helmet last week. He claims it's just Peruzzi. He claims just feels a little stiff. And he's GonNa be one hundred percent fine. Let's say golf is fine. Think about this match up a little bit you know you have a rams is team that passes at sixty two percent of the time. It's it's top ten in the league. They probably are going to pass it a little bit more here. Just Game Theory. Wise is being a nearly seven point dog as you alluded to the motion. The mcvay era but the point is of the rams are going to be passed now facing this forty niners defense and and we talk about this all the time. Top foreign pressure rate bottom foreign bullets rate. The secondary isn't left very vulnerable here and why they have the second most efficient pass defense all assigns at least so far unless Thursday hiccup at practice today that Richard Sherman Williams. They're going to be good to go Saturday. They were full participants. Since at Wednesday's practice that's a great sign. If this were two thousand seventeen I think or even early last year the solutions pretty simple right like just turn around. Hand it off to girly. Make the forty niners defend run. Make their pass rushers respect run make them think about this run game before they can just like go after Goff like a pack of wild animals if girly I can get going here. He didn't play in the first game if he can show flashes if he can be his former sell for sixty minute sample. I think that likely determines who covers this game taught right because the forty niners are the most vulnerable against the run. It's it's nitpicking picking but if you look the four defense twenty third in rushing success rate twenty second explosive run defense whether it's earlier Brown right. Those guys are GONNA have to be efficient enough off for the niners to respect the ground game. And if not I I don't think we can project GOV like going out and having a field day against an elite pass rushing elite secondary knowing passes coming all game.

NFL 2019 trade deadline: buyers and sellers that could look to strike in-season deals
"So today was a bevy of traits all all sorts of craziness happening Sheila Ramsey being shipped from the rams sorry for the jags to the rams for two first of forced workers peers to ship the rams all the way over to Baltimore brother moves I'd like to talk about like how how old this ins up working out for teams around this time right you get into a position where maybe you're a buyer maybe your seller what do you think goes through the minds of of teams that are only six games into the season at this point yeah you know it's hard because the trade deadline is so early in the season and the way that it's all like baseball where it's you know the end of July and you know if you're in it or not so it's difficult but what's interesting to me is is over the past few years you know it wasn't that long ago there were rarely NFL trades and now all of a sudden you're seeing a lot more activity in a couple of weeks before the trade trade deadline at that so it's fascinating is sort of the changes but you know you look at the standings and there are what a couple of teams the dolphins the red you know who can legitimate Cincinnati can legitimately say they're not going to make the playoffs right everybody else is still in the mix and and that's what makes it so hard in some of these obviously were person you know personnel issues more so the horse and and talent but we feel like the Broncos I mean for example they went they if they somehow be the chiefs there only one game out of the AFC west to relieve me of sweat that that's how close it I just I find interesting bed that it's if you have to you making this decision at this point to either be a buyer or seller and he said there's only a couple teams a real legitimately say that well yeah we're we're not in position to win right now yeah yeah I do know I just found it interesting look at the rams at this Sean McVay said you know all the three and thirteen twenty six Jaguars at four sixteen Jack or some people get three players from them that's what's gonna put us over the top here ready to go get Blake Bortles Dante Fowler Jaylen Ramsey what I really put this thing over the topic pages that one man's trash is another man's treasure yes well but I I I think it's deeper than that it's the when you look at a team like the rams they trade away Marcus Peters but then they trade for Jaylen Ramsey clearly they didn't have a need at corner thanks what they had a need to do was to move one guy and bring a new guy and so that's why you know it's personality stuff it goes back yeah I want to bring up Antonio brown again but it's it's it goes back to was a guy fitting it is a guy causing trouble and obviously Jaylen Ramsey everybody knows what was going on in Jacksonville right in computers computers was a kind of the consummate teammate in LA but he did have some issues with some coaches there as well that's part of the reason you get the whole circular movement there with all that kind of stuff you saw a lot of outpouring of support from teammates for Marcus Peters when he was dealt then we see that with the jailer Remzi on that bill team chemistry I mean you've been a lot a locker rooms and like like I think we talk about that thing is like it's it's a big it's a big deal because deal but then there's like the other other segment that says I mean personality is one thing but performance is another Jill Ramsey's could still consider were the best quarterbacks in the league that's gonna put up some of that he probably is the best I any any is what twenty four years old I think I mean he's so big pick up for the rams the question is how do you fit in and I I think it's it's a mix I mean you look back at teams that have been had tremendously talented rosters that maybe there was some issue in the in the in the in the you know whether it's with the chemistry or in the locker room or somehow between coaches and players and that can that can dive bomber team at the same time in do need talent but these guys as you know spend every day together for months and months and months and it's important that they get along so if if one guy is is causing issues I think it probably makes
