What the Patriots can learn from the BIlls' QB strategy
"Talk About That quarterback position because I think you know alot of patriot sales again, and I keep saying this but they don't like it when we point out at the bills rebuilding strategy is working in that the Patriots could learn something from Buffalo. So what are we going to learn from Buffalo? You know, they haven't won anything in twenty years, right? It's like no no, no. No, this is a great case study by Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott M how to put a Young quarterback in the perfect situation to succeed. Especially Young quarterback and Josh Allen who let's face. It was a high ceiling, you know, low floor type of prospect at very high bus potential if it didn't go to the right direction in Buffalo. So I looked at back at that 2018 draft. They actually traded up twice for Josh Allen's pick at seventh overall from Twenty-One wage. Because they made that playoffs or Tyrod Taylor, right? Was that the year? Yeah, so they made the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor Sweet in as a wild-card team. Then they were picking 21st. They traded up from 21 to 12 and then 12 to sneak in to get their guide Josh Allen, but I actually think more so and we can talk a little bit about Allen's development to more so than Allen's individual development. Would McDermott and being did to you know, make sure the offensive line to add Cole Beasley and Stephon Diggs and put Josh Allen in this perfect kind of offense for his skill-set with Brian table. That's really I think as much about what we've seen from Josh Allen's growth is anything in that sort of speaks to the team building process of the whole thing.

"Throws it deep down the right side left side and that is into the end zone. It is caught. It's a touchdown A J. Brown You know who else they have No answer for Jonno. Smith drops throws on a slant Johnny Smith with catch a touchdown, just a quick slant from left to right. And John, who Smith with his fourth Touchdown, man Johnno. He is a problem, right? He was a problem on that play, and he was a problem on this play. Play action. Tannehill on the bootleg Tannehill throws to the zone. It's John Smith. With the touchdown. My guy likes to say that the weight room is free. Yes. So were those touchdowns. But it wasn't just about what the bills defense couldn't dio and didn't I touch on this yesterday before the game? I mentioned the defense was an issue and it was last night, but it wasn't only about what the defense didn't Dio. It was about what the defense did Dio namely, committed bunch of penalties. Also about what the offense did. Dio turned the ball over 10 penalties. Three turnovers, and they picked a really bad time to have a really bad night, and nobody had to tell that to their head coach Sean McDermott uncharacteristic game for us on characteristically Or fundamentals for priests, not discipline turned up all over. You can't do that. There's only one point on the other sideline. You can't beat yourself again. I give them credit. They're ready to go on. Same time Coach speak for we played like crap. Josh. Alan, what happened? Him? He had played an M V P level through the first four games, and then he smashed right back to Earth last night, Josh the hell happened to you and the rest of them? Quote. We got punched in the mouth and didn't respond like we should have. I didn't play well enough. Our team to win tonight and quote Yes And yes, that is so true. They got buoyed by a bigger boy. Last night was Tennessee, not Buffalo, who looked crisp and sharp. It was Tennessee, not Buffalo, who looked like a Super Bowl contender. It was Ryan Tannehill, not Josh Allen, who looked like he was about to dominate the division Tom Brady style for a long time. Buffalo could not get much will pass rush going now they couldn't get anything at all going Now The good news is they've got a short week to get that disgusting taste out of their mouth. The bad news is the short week ends with Kansas City on Sunday, and if they show up Sunday, the way they showed up last night, it's going to be even more humiliating. They were looking to send a statement they were looking to send a message. Unfortunately, they did message being same as they ever were still not ready for prime time. They better hope that there was only one bad night because what that wass was a gigantic step backwards. Bill's Mafia. How you got to say for yourself now. I've got something to say. Browns Dismiss GM John Dorsey Days After Firing Head Coach Freddie Kitchens
"Let's get to it Sadly adly mark we gotta start with the browns. How did we get back here? We're back we're back to the bounds being the browns. They have fired yet. Another general manager her Cleveland parted ways with John Dorsey. After two years on the helm the team announced made that move official after it was reported in multiple places. The decision to move on from Dorsey comes just two days after the Brian Brown's fired head coach Freddie Kitchens at the conclusion of the regular season Dorsey had a meeting with. Jimmy has them the team owner earlier. Tuesday the two sides according to Tom Palacio We're talking about possible. Structural changes that would curb Dorsey authorities GM but when the two sides can come to an agreement it was over mark Feels like Cleveland. Even though the better roster is back to square one in terms of dysfunction and just in general question marks about the present and the future and I can't and even begin to understand how you must feel the frustration of well. I'm of two minds because the first is they're just more proof that the browns the constant mode is sort of developing farce. I mean whatever whenever you think that they've turned a corner. They're actually just going in a circle back to where they were before for. And there are a lot of disturbing reports and whispers coming out of Cleveland that the ownership and we know this is not not shocking. Can you think about it. But the but they continue to be very impatient with all their decisions and the people they hire and so the question now and I think that the I've never seen the fan base this deflated because of where they were a year ago at this time. Or let's say seven months ago to now but because it just doesn't seem to matter to most people who they hire and it's too it's too de energizing using to get excited about fill in the blank coach and the from the other side though I will say this had they kept John Dorsey. It would've narrowed the candidate list of who was gonNA come and work with that next team by a lot so I think if you're going to keep doing this but do you agree with that. Dorsey wasn't the guy to be leading the charge. Because everyone seems it to be an agreement that he was a guy that came in the obviously inherited. Sasha's bountiful gifts and had some hits has mrs but had some big hits to me it all feels a little premature to take him out of the equation but this organization has done. There wasn't a straight firing right. They just say couldn't get different visions on how they saw the football operation going full hundred percent. I think they wanted to keep them and they talked about how much they liked him. But John Dorsey is probably very prideful and not going to take what is it what is when you're changing title it also demotion what else is it and the thing is he he. It's hit. It was his decision number one to go with Freddie Kitchens and they they ignored Paul does recommendations of Kevin Stefanski DEEPA. Desta also wanted. Sean McDermott in the past. So I think what they were saying. Was We kind of trust. Paul Podesta's voice in in this at this time around and that's not something that again. It's kitchens fall. It's a soup of Dursey for hiring kitchens more recently. Stunning fall though we were at the owners meetings and at that point John Dorsey was the toast of the NFL. I read them in the top five of my GM rankings. no-one no-one said Oh that's that's too high. I mean like it was very recent who is five. Oh who's right behind him. Thomas demetre was five. Kevin Colbert over three but It is amazing how much talent he acquired in a short time and he's gone but I think they've gotten it wrong so many times of not having the GM and the coach align that act. I do like I like I think that needs to be on the same page. Yes at every time. So I'm fine with it. It's deflating to the point of heartbreak for for Browns fans that last year at this time this job was seen as one of the most coveted in the league with a young talented nucleus. And you're finally going to bring the winter to Cleveland and now it's senior reading reading stories that executives say that's the one place I would not go and you're right back to where you were if some of these coaching tree scenarios were cal Shanahan and has a number of people interviewing with the browns. He was there he's he. He demanded his way out of the building. You got you know the bill. BELICHICK's of the world are going to be telling these guys be careful because yes. It's great for you to go on and get a head coaching job. But the DNA here is that you won't be there. Four hundred as has made it clear in his press conference Thursday that the coach would be part of hiring the GM which sounds weird. But I know that's fine but it means that the coaches ultimately the GM's boss Asif you get hyper and that's fine as long as it's defined ahead of time if that helps them get mcdaniels fancier whoever it is that they want in the door. That's fine it it just makes makes it clear that it's the coach. That's in charge and function and dysfunction always starts at the top and sports and since the has them's joined there on their fifth took over team. They're on their fifth coaching search and seven years and John Dorsey is the fifth different person or group heading up the football operation in that same seven seven year that has to be unprecedented. I mean there are at least just third that work in at least the third that only had one year really which is why
Hot Seat Szn: The NFL Coaching Carousel
"Dan You talked about. How if it's only been a year? Sometimes a team will say. Let's give this guy a chance to turn things around. But it's been a couple of years in in Detroit with Matt Patricia. Why do you think that team came out before black Monday? And said we're going to hang onto him despite the fact that he's one In two seasons as many games as Jim Caldwell one in a single season before he was fired in Detroit I think the key is bob coined the GM right he comes from New England. He gets rid of Caldwell he goes and six out Patricia who knows from New England and he has sold ownership on. We can build this thing. Long-term here's what Martha firestone foreign said about her decision to bring back both former patriots quote. We expect to be a playoff contender. We expect to play meaningful games in December as she's referring bring to next season when she brings him back whatever he's told them about here are signs that it can work. They've bought whether they're correct or not. I think you know the former New England crew. That's running the Detroit. Lions has convinced Detroit Lions Ownership. Here's why this can work here. We're sorry it hasn't worked right away but two years isn't long enough. Give us another chance. And we'll see how much does the GM matter when we're looking at these teams in trying to evaluate whether or not they're going to move on from their head coach well matters a lot. It commensurate a couple of different ways one. How tied together are they did the GM hire the coach? And right now when when Quinn goes Detroit cold wells already there. You figure we'll cold well. It's not going to last because Quinn's GonNa WanNa bring in his own Guy Lo and behold that happen happen so if you are the guy that the GM hired that might help you if you are the guy that GM hired but it's going poorly and you're the the first guy the GM hired then. Recent history has shown us that you are the one in trouble and the GM is not there are coaches out. There that will tell you that. GM sits in the owner's box. He talks to the owner all game. He's the voice he hears while the coaches are down there on the field losing and it's pretty easy for the GM that kind of position himself. Like hey this isn't my fault. Let's make a change and try it another either way. I do think there are situations where you see more and more around the league where it goes in the other direction where. The coach kind of picks up in San Francisco. John Lynch came because Kyle Shanahan wanted wanted him in Buffalo Brandon. Beane came because Sean McDermott wanted him so I like that. Formula Teens are using now or they get the coach. I coach brings in mm somebody. He knows he can believe in. They understand the salary cap in the same way and can do all that administrative stuff together. I think that's that's a formula that looks like it's working in a few spots.
Buffalo Clinches Playoff Birth
"Your namesake team is in in the play offs. The bills I mean. I don't WanNa Brag Bill. Barnwell is a senior football writer at. ESPN he has consulted with NFL teams. But the bills are not in fact named after him. So tonight the buffalo bills beat the Pittsburgh steelers seventy ten clinching a spot in the postseason and bill. What's amazing about this team? Aside from being named after you Is that for most of the two thousands. They didn't even have a winning record but but now they have made the playoffs in two of the last three years during this rebuilding process. Where does this recent success begin in your mind? I think the simplest place for it to start is just hiring Sean McDermott. This is a coach. Who really seems at odds with with a lot of what? NFL Teens tend to do when they have head coaching opportunity. Pop Up Sean. mcdumber forty two wasn't like he was old but let's face face it every coaching opportunity. That's popped up over. The last three years has basically been. Let's try and get a offensive minded coach or someone who is particularly close to. Sean McVeigh and correct defensive minded coach the panthers weren't even coming off a good season they were six and ten and ranked twenty six points allowed the year before so the bills really took a shot on shark dermott top of that. The bills gave McDermott some level of personnel control. which teams are really it? Really Loath to do it. First Year head coaches but it worked. The bills had an excellent free agent period in two thousand seventeen and they earned their draft totally differently that year their previous previous GM Doug Whaley had repeatedly traded up in years past regrettable move. Sammy Watkins. Being the most notable one but damage first move was to trade down and and the first player he drafted was Davis White. WHO had a big game against the steelers? Last night tonight again squirts out of bounds around the twenty yard long. So why headed early picked in fact. We'll before McDermott joined the team in two thousand sixteen they had the twenty seventh best defense in the NFL according to football outsiders after that they started taking up up in now bill. It's one of the best units in the League. How did this defense gets so good so quickly? I mean just to keep it simple. They got rid of everybody pretty much. I mean. The fifty three players were on their roster for the final game in two thousand sixteen before Mcdermott arrived. There's three guys left in the Renzo Alexander Jerry News and Shack Lawson all front seven pieces. I mean everyone else. Fifty other players on this roster Aurora ellsworth point and the bills have drafted well. But I think what makes this team so interesting as they really go out of their way to get veterans from other rosters and saw seemed to get more out of those players in their previous teams games in their first free agent period Jordan play Mike Hide Jordan Philips for example comes to mind in recent years where he was a second round. Pick washout of Miami. The bills brought him in. He has nine and a half sacks this season as defensive tackle. That's really impressive. There's just a lot of players on this roster who either were good somewhere and have become great in buffalo or who really weren't playing very well at all or almost out of the League who have become regulars on this really talented bills defense so last year the bills. Roll the dyson Josh Allen in the draft trading up to take him seventh overall despite his lack of college production in his rookie season was pretty underwhelming warming. Bill Fifty two point eight percent. Completion percentage just five point four adjusted guards per attempt. It seemed to me that they approached this off season with a really concerted strategy to build around him in free agency. Signings worked out for the team. It's been really good. I mean it's really the same philosophy sophy we saw on the defensive side of the ball. Those have had fifteen players. I not on offense for at least twenty percents of the snaps. Twelve of those guys are new into the roster. It's both running backs. All three of their tight ends five of their six top offensive. Lineman you know in a League where so many times you hear here that a team should sign a player or they actually do sign a player because they know the system quote unquote the bills. Sort of realized. Hey we have coaches who we pay to teach each player's the system. We should just go get those guys instead and so many of those players are playing in a high level and I think. It's really been perfect for Josh Allen Alan who even going back to Wyoming. He had to play hero ball. He had to sort of make big plays for his team to win. And we've seen a totally different quarterback this shear. I wouldn't argue. Allen is finished product but he's been productive quarterback this year a using his legs to create opportunities. He's hitting a lot of intermediate passes when he didn't do that last year. And he's avoiding turnovers man after throwing four interceptions in that really frustrating loss the Patriots week for this offense. Turn the ball over four. We're times in nine games. That's incredible for an offense that really just turn the ball over at will last season and they turn the ball over twice against the steelers last last night but they still did enough on offense to victory the snap just gonNa keep it off. He will sail. into the end zone touchdown touchdown buffalo. Josh Allen from one yard out and the bills are on the scoreboard early in the second quarter. Do you think there are any lessons. That other teams can take from the bills rebuilding process. Yeah I I do think so and I'm GonNa make a comparison that I'm sure. Bills fans are not really gonNA love but there's a lot of patriots in what the bills have done in their philosophy. The bills have been great at Pro Scouting and they've really found a way to bringing those players like I said who were struggling elsewhere. who were just guys elsewhere and turn them into much better contributors with Buffalo? They've done great work with undrafted. Free Agency have a couple starters in their secondary from there as well. They built their scheme scheme to really accommodate their players. And that's not just the Patriots thing but also way ravens thing where we're seeing that with Lamar Jackson and all the great stuff they've done on offense The bills don't have a scheme that throws the ball up fifteen times a game downfield. Just because Josh Allen has a strong arm they create better throws for him that that play to his arm strength as opposed to just trying to hit a big play because Josh Allen has in his arsenal I think in the big picture. There's just this idea that you shouldn't blindly follow what the NFL does with their trans so the bills are in the playoffs. Most likely as a wildcard team and bill while the defense is he's one of the best in the league offense has been up and down they really didn't produce very much against Pittsburgh. Do you think that that's a formula that can and work in January. I do not. I think they're a team. Nobody's GONNA WANNA play this postseason. It's very different from twenty seventeen eighteen where I don't think it's fair to say. The bills sort of meant the playoffs by accident that year. When they benched tyrod Taylor Nathan Peterman in mid season and kind of just rent a hot streak into the playoffs over the final month of the year? This team is way better on defense. They have more faith than Allen and I think the playoffs actually line up pretty well for for them as a five seat which is most likely where they're gonNA fall. They're terrible matchup for the Texans who they really really gave a tough game. Two in two thousand eighteen only for Nathan Peterman the throw too late interceptions to hand the texts victory and then they gave them our tax and Fitz. When they played last Sunday? I don't think this is going to be the last time the bills are going to be in the playoffs with this court. They're really opposition to be the best team in the AFC east. If the Patriots slip any further. And I am. I don't think I think it's too far to say that I'd be the best team in the AFC east right now

"Thompson Henry badly. Sean McDermott had to be careful late in that first half. With those two fouls. You look at some other leading sports for the BULLDOGS, Paul Jorgensen with six points, three rebounds, and Joey bronc in there with four point zero and Thompson had three in just twelve minutes out on the floor and Sean McDermott picked up a bucket. He's got two points in thirteen minutes to the BULLDOGS outside of Kamar Baldwin struggled to get the shots to fall for the pirates. It's miles Powell with thirteen point six six at the line McAleese, really grabbed seven rebounds and he picked up four points. Smiles kale with five on behalf of Butler university in the entire central Indiana community. He would like to thank Eric Bain and Rodman says for establishing their new paint immense community assist program they've committed to donating to a local charity for every bowler during men's basketball home games this season that will help those in need throughout our communities. So we think gentlemen, we'll take a look at the pain immense statue, Mark. We talked a lot just you gotta cut off miles power. Well, he's three of six. He's very efficiently is really misses or from behind the arc. But he's gotten to the line. He's got those thirteen points to gotta do a little bit better job there. And then points in the paint markets twenty two eighteen it's nip tuck, right? And again, those are some of those loose ball Salo's extra opportunities. Allowing them to get to the charity stripe. If you can eliminate some of those those things and continue to to harp on the I thought the energy and the effort was there you've got to play a little bit smarter. I think again, we talked about some of those breakdowns, and then you've got you've got to try to find a way to fit it with how many times do we see? You.

"Reminds on fans to enjoy responsibly forty one for the BULLDOGS thirty six for ole miss at the half. And Nick it is time for the vision works, second, half, focus. Well, then the focus has to be attacking that one three one specifically that was really what bogged down the Butler defense is going to be you've got to move the ball before you up to go north south. So you got to move it east and west a little bit before he can go north north and south and attack that defense and really in general just making sure you're not on your heels against that one three one being aggressive because when you can do that you're gonna find advantages as adults did on that was your second. Half is presented by Vichy towards the official vision care partner, a father athletics, really suck up. The energy that Paul George Benson. Brought to the BULLDOGS in that first half the reason that they are in the Dow the end of the shotmaking and cook errands satellite. That first without trouble. Sean McDermott was another ki ki guy who can shoot it. He'd been space. You could really be a key factor operating against that one three one. He's the guy who had a tough whistle and had to sit out. So those are two guys that can really help at Jackson life and try to get that energy level up with Volvo, your I was huge and now who could step up of supplement production that Paul George Jetson has had thus far. We shall see when the second half get started moments from now Butler forty one ole miss thirty six that'll do it for the brewery halftime show up brewing company, proud craft beer sponsor of your Butler BULLDOGS. "Minded coach. And the bills look like they're on their way to. Three wins. Maybe four wins. Max. Even though he had a very successful. You number one where they went to the postseason. I'm very curious if the bills bring back Sean McDermott, really. I think Adam gates to save a must've just a disaster the rest of the way, but it seems like they have a lot of trust because they're doing his way or the highway. I'm just kept goal if his way is going to work the jets cruise Christopher do you want Todd Bowles back as the c of the NYJ next year? I know you're gonna hate me. But I'm really torn. Like, I hate you. It's your football team. Well, it's no I'm saying later, I really don't have an opinion. You don't think it affects? I would if if the same garbage that I see week-to-week to week continues week-to-week continues and that undisciplined things happen on the field continuously which they do. I want him out. I think he should get him out. Anyway, because the new trend is to bring in when you have a young quarterback a young offense of mine like that. And he doesn't have any excitement either. I understand. That's what everybody thinks the trend is. And it's leaning toward that way. But not everybody's doing that the Tennessee titans haven't done that with Marcus mariota. Sure. But are the Tennessee titans? Do they look like they're moving in some great direction. The the falcons didn't do that. With Matt Ryan and Dan Quinn. Yeah. And Dan Quinn is a little bit of my point is probably gonna be out of a job at the end of the eleven wouldn't say that my point is I think you could be out of job this year. They don't make the postseason throws. Throws Sarkissian under the to the wolves before he gets thrown to the wolves. Yeah, he may. But ownership Arthur blank may say Dan Quinn. You're going you got to a Super Bowl. Okay. So coach you get fired three years after they get to the two years after the war could happen. Come on. When you're not playing up to the level and you as head coach doesn't fix the biggest problem with your team. Even though you're defensive minded coach. Yeah. Dan quincy. This idea is very high. I don't think he's I don't think he's getting fired for your Sean McDermott opinion. I think he's getting fired either interesting. Yeah. I think there's a chance just because of that young man. That's the only way I think that there's a chance for Sean McDermott. I understand what you're saying matinee. Sean McVeigh Peterson's load older go down the list. I get what you're saying. But not everybody's doing that. Here's another interesting one. I don't think he would get fired. But if they missed the postseason this year that would be four straight, and they're changing general managers now with Ozzie Newsome on his way out and he's been there for eleven years with the ravens ever contemplate getting rid of John Harbaugh. I think they would I don't know how you find a better coach that would be available right now the John Harbaugh, but I just wanted to say thank you for winning the Super Bowl. You were very great coach Russ. We just wanna move into different direction can ask you a question if they were going to do that. Why wouldn't they do that last year and they gave him an extension? I'm pretty sure right? So when you they're going to do that when when you blew a playoff spot last year, and it was in your fingertips and you lost to the Bengals. Extension right before the season started. You would have had every right to do that last year. And probably nobody would quibble with you outside of Baltimore. Yeah. I'm just wondering on horrible. I don't think carbos going anywhere and John Harbaugh would be without job for about two minutes. Same Andy Reid he'd be scooped up in a second because he's well respected. I'll tell you coach that we'll get fired though, one hundred percent of my mind, you we want to take a guess here on who this coaches, I think it was obvious almost got fired last year after one year. That's the biggest Joseph. Yes. Vance joseph. We'll get fired. Could we agree on that one? Oh boy. Thank. So once they do in the Broncos even before the defending Denver once again, I'm with you on Elway. Oh, it hasn't done anything to restock anything. But once again by a Super Bowl. Well, well, but really what has John Elway done besides hand Peyton Manning. It blank check. What does he done and draft? Von Miller me me and you drafted von Miller quarterbacks. Elections have been right. So my theory is is he really gonna fire. Vance Joseph after two years and some of the stink is going to get onto him. Does he really want any distinct onto him? Now, he might throw Vance Joseph to the wolves. Now, the scapegoat for the after the second year. But once you start firing coaches, and once you start it starts to being understood that you really haven't stuck the cupboard anywhere. The stinks going to get onto you. But here's the difference. John Elway is a legend in Denver Broncos. I understand that. I understand. But does not that does not by him immunity from criticism? Oh, sure. You still critics? You still criticize him we've seen a lot of great players. Not be good coaches and good executives. We've seen that before. And really where the stars that. He's drafted besides von Miller. It's totally fair. Especially at quarterback. Paxton Lynch, remember him, and Chad Kelly the other day nice. Nice job. That's a disaster. An absolute disaster hasn't been a good time for backup quarterbacks. Kyle lettuce. Well with that whole incident in New Jersey. Mama. Tried a few more. Doug Marrone is Doug Marrone in danger of losing his job. I don't think. So because I don't think Tom Coughlin would get rid of him. But that's a disaster situation right now in Jacksonville. And it seems like that's a locker room that lacks leadership right now where the defense can't stand. Blake Bortles, and like Boorda's really can't defend himself. He just says, he's the scapegoat. Because hey, the defense has not been great from what they were earlier in the year. But Blake Bortles, I don't I never get why they decided that they gave him this this four year extent. Well, here's the thing because he got to the AFC championship. So what are you gonna do? You're gonna you're gonna cut him loose. You could have. Could've tried to get and the. And you're gonna get Kirk cousins when you had no cap room to get her cousins. Anyway, they would not have got Kirk cousins Kirk cousins, I thought was a lock to go to. So then who's the veteran quarterback you were going to bring in Jacksonville? Eli manning manning, baby. How Derek Carr be fun on that team in the off season? Once again, we gotta get there. I sure Derek Carr. I understand that. But Derek cars gotta cannot general secretly. Yeah. I know this is a radio shining. Try to speculate understand that. But here's the thing are the raiders the raiders really gonna do it. We think they're all going to do and cut and cut the cord with Derek Carr. I think so I don't think he's the quarterback next year. I think John I think I think I'm leaning towards I think you're right in that John is probably gonna want his own guy now to run his own show. We disagree with Dan Quinn. I think Dan Quinn is close to being on his way out dark cutter. I think Dr cutter most likely will be fired. Here's someone that won't get fired. Even if this ends up getting out of control is Marvin Lewis, he still has a job there. And I know he changed that franchise around, but they can't win a playoff game. And then here's the last one that I will speculate on chasing Garrett who was told before the year he does not have to make the playoffs. Doc playoff for bus for Jason Garrett. If I'm the Cowboys I would move on from Jason Garrett, but I can never predict. Mister, Jerry Jones. I just can't is Jason Garrett the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys next year. Assefa? Yes. Okay. Once again, it's they could have done it already. And they probably should have done it already. Yeah. I'm with one thing that, you know, Jerry likes to control the coach it's obvious that Jason Garrett and Jerry have a relationship we want to speculate on what it is. And how close Jason Garrett is to Jerry. But let's put it this way. He even Jerry, you're very close and Jerry wants to feel like he's still in charge. Right. My wrong. But what are you implying? No stop. They're very. Do you do you think Jerry can call Jason Garrett whenever he wants and ask his opinion on something. Of course. You can. Yes. And that's what Jerry one. So what are you saying? He's he's a puppet, right? You put it together. Yes. Okay. Enough. The Cowboys have done whatever they can do to supplement their offense. And now it's going to be on Jason gear. Do they really do though? Well, I mean Cooper is a nice move. I know they gave up to the first round pick. Right. But when but when the eagles are offering a two, and you really want Amari Cooper, what are you supposed to do? Sometimes the gal other franchises. I get that. Somebody would delta two for Mari Cooper, someone would have. But I would not have given up a one. I don't think that make put you over the top. And all of a sudden, you're a playoff team once again the divisions not going anywhere the division. I think the divisions down to the Redskins and the eagles. I southern giggles when that division, but Jason garrison interesting one as well. So is there a coach that we missed eight five five two one two four CBS. "Week and a half. He was playing golf two weeks before that except that Anderson is now a concussion protocol. So guess what Sean McDermott and the bills are back to Nathan Peterman. Challenge. But the number one thing is that he is healthy number one. As I say he's in the protocol. So we'll take a one day. The problem though, is that he's in concussion protocol. And he's still their best option. So Sean McDermott is saying exactly that that he's in concussion protocol. But he's healthy. He's not hurt in any other way. So for now, it's back to Peterman. But this is how far the bills offense has fallen. And this is not a knock on Anderson. The problem if he just got there he's been playing golf and hanging out with his kids. But because Josh Allen can't start. He'll miss his third consecutive game. And because Anderson right now is in concussion protocol and not going to be cleared. They're back to Peterman that blows my mind that Anderson is still a better option than Peterman. If all things were equal and Anderson were cleared, I feel badly for Buffalo Bills fans. It was supposed to be better than this year after they finally snapped their playoff drought. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. This could also qualify as sad sap of the week. There has been speculation around New York around the giants that Eli manning will get benched in favor of a younger quarterback after their bye week. So they're on a bye in week. Number nine didn't get traded. By the way, case you were worried ally has been getting I would say lukewarm support from from Pat Shurmur to the point where he was asked about who is quarterback would be following the by and Shurmur response was we'll see. So maybe just maybe this is going to be the opportunity that rookie Kyle Aleta needs except Luleta gets arrested on Tuesday. Are you kidding me from the category of you can't make this stuff up? The giants rookie quarterback gets arrested and essentially throws out his opportunity to start and listen to this. He actually. Oh my gosh. It could've been worse. I guess he actually when it against the police officers orders made a turn when he was told to keep going straight. So he was told you cannot turn here you have to keep going straight. But he decides he doesn't care because you know, he's a rookie quarterback for the giants. So he makes the illegal turn any way on a highway near New.

"Addition of NFL live, Wendy next Josina Anderson coach, John FOX, and Tedy Bruschi. We'll start with the bill's decision to start Derek. Anderson there had been reports by our Diana Rossini that coach coach would lose the locker room if he went with Peterman Josefina instead he makes what he says is the best decision for this team opting for Anderson? Well, you can see why that would be understandable particularly just when you go back to last year in the history of how Nathan Peterman as perform. When he came in there, I had the five interceptions against the chargers. Then you get rid of AJ McCarron and he hasn't provided much hope behind Josh Allen. When he came in, I believe he had a QBR of fifty, seven going six or twelve. Typically when you have a backup succession plan, that's one that's also supposed to engender. Hope is fire that team lift the team. That's what you would like the talent evaluators to do in filling that position. And I think it's somewhat understandable based on his performance, not because anyone specifically in that locker room was told me that, but just based on his performance, you could understand why perhaps there are feelings like that in the locker room. The questions. I mean, just go back to when they brought in a guy that Sean McDermott as well as Brandon being the general manager both with from their Carolina days. It really right down. We're in a production based business and they, you know, albeit I'm sure gave everything he had. But when you throw seventy nine passes and nine of them are interceptions. That's not what's going to fit their style right now and the type of ball they're playing ground and pound run the ball and eliminate turnovers and trying to win with defense. You can't just sit there as a head coach and then be in those team meetings and then talk to us players and tell us you're going to do what's best for the team. We're going to put everybody out there that we feel can help you win football games. And then we as players have is also and we can watch and we can see and we can understand like give the kid another chance, or I give the kid another chance, but there comes a time where players do end up thinking. All right, coach that's enough chances. It's time to move on. It's time to make a conclusion on this guy. And so for McDermott to finally make. This decision. I mean, the players probably knew already coast. You put this guy in to start another football game for us. How much hope do I realistically have that we can win that he's not gonna throw two to three picks, and he's gonna make those make those mistakes. So in terms of having a quarterback in there where your team can look to and say, yeah, we got a chance with that guy. I mean that that's sort of running out on the Nathan Peterman Peterman experience. Everybody can agree that his debut with the five interceptions you know that he deserved another shot after that, you can say not not a good start to say the least, but let's wait and see. But we waited and we saw and that's where we are..

"It's the writing for our team coach I keep coming back to first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. I hope we got his very subtle message that he believes this is the right move for the team this week. But he has the luxury of believing that Scotland excuse me Scotland Sean McDermott who's in his second year with the Buffalo Bills as the head coach Sean McDermott who last year took the bills to the playoffs and blow broke what was one of the longest standing playoff droughts in the NFL currently now with a team that got some help along the way, certainly but still went out there and benefited enough from Sean McDermott being in the building to accomplish this. And so Now Sean McDermott, I don't think has to fear for his job as much as some of these other coaches who's winning resume in the last couple of years is less than stellar Sean McDermott instead of weighing it and saying what do I need this situation to play out like in order for me to keep my job. Do I need a vet? Veteran player like AJ McCarron who they could have kept. To go out there and just win me enough game. So that the organization doesn't look at me. Like, I might be part of the problem. No Sean McDermott Kazan week to you know, what let's put the rookie out there. Because I believe I'm going to be there on the other side to reap the benefits of this rookies growth during this time, and it's not going to be pretty we know Josh Allens a raw project. We knew that with him coming out of Wyoming. Sean McDermott believes that he is going to make it to the other side of this. Then why wouldn't he start this process now of molding because he believes he'll be allowed to do it and see it through in a way. These other guys have not been. And I mentioned kind of that slip up there with Scotland Eoghan, but it's sort of the same sentiment that we're seeing right now with the Cowboys offense, which is Scotland has been there, and he's been running that offense a certain way. And it worked very well. When again, you had a shirt commodity the Dallas Cowboys offense of line combined with Zeke, Elliot going back. A couple of years was a sure commodity that was one of the best offensive lines. Have not the best offensive line in the NFL. I think that offensive line deserves a lot of credit for the way we've seen the focus shift back to the predict of the position because you had three bona fide stars in that group, but now with injury and the sands of time passing and some other key veterans on that group that moved on its faltered a little bit. And when that's falter to win the run games faltered the rest of this offense has shut down. And Scott Lenihan that offensive coordinator who is now faced with the prospect of adapt or die believe it becomes an interesting territory. Again, how much do you trust this guy because the personnel moves? You will make right now who you will keep or not keep we know the picture floating around the internet of Dez Bryant Jerry Jones has brought into people's my will maybe they'll bring back. Why? Because in that offense was Scott Lenihan. And with Dak Prescott at quarterback that was a marriage and a relationship that worked well on the field. I get anything seems like an upgrade right now compared to what people saw from week one of the Cowboys. But the problem seems to be more structural there than personnel wise until you get one of your shirt commodities back. And if you don't then you're going to have to do a little bit more coaching. And so a lot of that is still going to fall on what Scott Lenihan is able to muster up while the rest of this group tries to.

"Bills. Coach Sean McDermott saw his quarterback struggle. Nathan Peterman struggled in a forty-seven three blowout loss to the ravens. Peterman throwing for twenty four yards couple of interceptions. He was replaced by Josh Allen in the second half and he'll be replaced by Josh Allen in week two. Alan getting the start. I'm super excited and thankful for the chance to to be the start of this team. Now, this is something I've dreamed for for a long time. But now that it's here, you know, just come Sunday just trying to do my job. I'm not trying to do too much trust in those around me and ultimately trying to be the quarterback needs. Which is now moving the ball the chain on third down. Points on the board. How much how much did you clean from tied gut? You get action in a real. I took a lot from it. If you saw the first one it was in those little quick to is down as the game went on. I felt a little more comfortable and just kind of trust in the guys in front of me. And then the guy's outside just letting them go make some place. So how do you see? I mean, we're still in the preparation process. Replacing a really good defense this week. It's a really good team. They can they can offense to. So we gotta make sure we're doing the right things on our side of the ball. And that's negating the penalties and negative plays and stuff like that. And just try to stay on film making. Did you? Making a conscious ever since you're cheated conscious effort. Cure yourself in any different way, knowing that you are the Fisher started your practice.
