"Back into the mid to the upper 70s Saturday through Labor Day on Monday. In the coming four weather center, I'm meteorologist Shannon O'Donnell. Clear skies currently 68 in Seattle an urgent search is underway for a teenager who disappeared under what investigators are calling suspicious circumstances, come a force Paul Rivera has the latest. The search continues for missing 16 year old Gabriel Davies. The Thurston county sheriff's office giving details on what they found. Approximately 5 p.m., our deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle at the 16,100 block of Tilly road. At that location, our deputies found a vehicle with items strewn about a small amount of blood inside the vehicle in a phone that had been shattered on the ground. We made contact with the registered owner of that vehicle and they told us that their son, 16 year old Gabriel, had that vehicle at the time, and he had been headed to football practice at Olympia high school. Officials say from that point around 5 30 p.m. callers reported that Gabriel was seen walking along the road. And we had most recently received a tip that he had been seen entering Miller's state park. The information they have so far indicates that Gabriel was by himself and did not meet up with anyone. Officials say they won't say whose blood was in that vehicle, a Rivera. A Canadian man visiting Olympic national park was found dead earlier this week, the National Park Service says an emergency satellite Beacon ping Tuesday evening to a remote wilderness campsite near Elk Lake, when rangers arrived by helicopter the next morning they found 34 year old Thomas bernier Villeneuve dead, a tree had fallen and crushed his tent. A man was found dead near a trail in gold bar this morning and the snohomish county sheriff's office is investigating it as a homicide. Gold bar fire went out to the trail near state route to around ten 30 this morning for a report of a man falling down a hill, and when they arrived they determined the man was already dead. The snohomish county major crimes unit has detectives at the scene, but hasn't said how the man died or if they're looking for any suspects. Seattle teachers started voting today on whether to authorize a strike if the union in the district can't forge a new contract by next Tuesday, settle education association, president Jennifer modder, says members will receive ballots by email. They are still hard at work, trying really hard to reach that ten of agreement. There is still time, glasses are scheduled to start next Wednesday, September 7th, the union will announce results of the strike vote on Tuesday. While Seattle families get their students ready for another school year, the school district is working to make sure transportation won't be an issue for kids who rely on school buses. Come a forest in east Whitaker has more on the route changes affecting some students. After a 30 years of first student providing bus services for Seattle public schools, a district, then this summer decided to split its transportation contract between four student and between a relative newcomer here in Seattle anyway, zoom. The district is now telling us that it's also asked for students to take on some additional routes, more than half, while zoom ramps up to its full capacity throughout this semester. Zoom tells me the transition moving forward as planned, its operations are, quote, looking great on the ground for student tells me they're ready to take on the extra routes as requested. We've been able to recruit enough drivers as you have talked about in the past. And so because we have those drivers and we have the ability to ramp up quickly, we have even more drivers ready. Should the need arise? Come on in. And certain parents will no longer have to pay child support following a policy change from the state details from Jeff pogal. Washington will no longer collect payments from moms and dads who have had their parental rights revoked and their children put in state care. Previously, the money would be used to support the children in their foster homes, but Alison cruncher with the department of children youth and families says it cost more money to collect the payments than the amount they ultimately received. The reality is many families who have child support enforcement against them are in on a payment plan in debt in arrears and making relatively small payments to the state. She adds that this does not forgive past debt, but simply eliminates additional payments in the future. The money which only amounted to a small fraction of the D.C. YF budget is being backfilled from the state general fund. Jeff pojo in northwest news radio. "Bill Schwartz for a Beacon plumbing sports update. As we first reported on northwest news radio yesterday, Oregon state quarterback Sean Mannion is signed to Seattle's practice squad. Originally drafted by the rams this 6 6 passer had been part of Seattle's camp last summer and then went to Minnesota, so Sean why come back now? I had such a positive experience here, obviously last year and the opportunity percent itself. It was unique opportunity, you know, to come back to a system that I'm very familiar with and coaches that I feel like I worked really well with. Indeed, the 30 year old will back up Seattle starter Gino Smith and number two drew Locke. In Denver Russell Wilson gets a 5 year contract extension, reports have the deal worth $245 million for sbrocco have a new owner, Walmart, air rob Walton, and he'll write the check. In Detroit, Logan Gilbert tossed two hit ball over 6 scoreless innings. His Mariner teammates continue to smack the baseball in a 7 zero win over the tigers. Seattle completed a three game sweep to remain firmly in the ale wild cart. Now it's on to Cleveland on a weekend series against the guardians. Not only is it September 1st, Rick, but it's a thirsty Thursday night in T town to come a Washington. The rainiers tonight take on Sacramento at Cheney stadium. As part of its corporate effort to reduce carbon emissions, corwin hake explains. It's unclear exactly what the words pledge passport mean to Amazon, but sharp eyed observers note the company has applied to trademark the phrase. Amazon is a founding signatory of the climate pledge, a global effort by participating corporations to reach net zero carbon emissions across their businesses ten years ahead of the Paris climate agreement goal of 2050, a climate pledge promotional video explains. Amazon and other partners are now working together to bring leading companies and organizations into this Roman community that is committing to achieve net zero carbon by 2040. According to a patent filing obtained by geek wire, Amazon's application calls for providing a website for collecting information to be used in marketing campaigns in the fields of climate change, sustainability, recycling, and carbon emissions. Seattle most often sees the phrase climate pledge on the top of its hockey arena. Amazon bought the naming rights in 2020, saying the building would be the world's first net zero carbon certified arena. Corwin hake, northwest, news radio. "Were back on the street outside sea tech airport today as John libertini reports new labor agreements are moving at a snail's pace. This time it was dealt dozens of pilots dressed to fly instead lying both sides of international boulevard outside sea tack, pilot and spokesperson, Laura Woods. Retired. We have been trying to hold up this operation by picking up record amounts of overtime, and it's time to scale it back, refocus, and bring us an industry leading contract so we can attract and maintain pilots. There was a pilot shortage before the pandemic and 2000 took buyouts from Delta in 2020. This year the airline reportedly planned to hire and train 2400 pilots, but it doesn't appear that's happening. Over scheduling us, they're producing a flight schedule that they don't have enough pilots to fly. They're relying on our pilots to pick up over time on their days off. We've been doing that now for years. Plenty of support from passing drivers. But what these pilots want is a new contract, the last one negotiated in 2016. John libertine, northwest news radio. Just in time for Labor Day, Washington's average price of gas continues to fall now to four 72 a gallon. Ryan Harris asked an expert why we see big price differences across the region. Gas buddies Patrick de Haan says some are winding down and China still locking down have driven down recent oil demand, but he says we've seen 11 straight weeks of declines. When the economy slows down, Americans don't spend as much they don't get out as much and that impacts oil demand in a negative way. King counties average right now is four 81 a gallon while it's four 65 in pierce county and four 33 in skagit county, a nearly 50 cent swing within a pretty short drive, which Patrick chalks up to local competition among stations, but he says there's also a difference on either side of the cascades with the west side supplied by West Coast refineries. The eastern half of the state supplied by refineries that connect into the Rocky Mountains. And so there's really kind of a big change between where gasoline is coming from. Patrick says another 40 cents or more could come off by October. Ryan Harris northwest news radio. Two new reports show tailings dams that secure ways from a British Columbia mine just north of the Washington border are at risk of failing failure could send that toxic flow into Washington rivers. Carlene Johnson reports Conservation northwest and the confederated tribes of the colville Indian reservation compiled two new reports into the tailings dams at the copper mountain mine in BC, regulations required the likelihood of dam failure to be less than one in 1 million, but the conservation northwest report found the likelihood of failure could be as high as one in 100, any seismic activity or even bad weather could liquefy the base of the dams, triggering something far worse than the 2014 mount poly mined BC disaster that dams foundation failed, and hundreds of tons of arsenic lead copper and nickel flowed into nearby waters. U.S. geotechnical engineer Stephen Vick was one of those hired to review the failure. We're going to ensure that these future failures don't occur. The panel recognizes that we can't continue business as usual. It's not enough to just tweak around the edges of what we have been doing and say we promise to do better in the future. The east dam at copper mountain mine is around 540 feet tall, the West End around 566 feet tall, according to the reports, and northwest news network reports each dam is expected to reach its permitted height by 2027, and according to the report in the case of a mid range failure, which would release around 40% of the sludge, parts of Princeton BC would be covered in 30 feet of waste within 90 minutes and Washington state would soon after be inundated with toxic sludge. "We are benefit news polling. I don't know if I could use the word news. There is a trade involving a quarterback, the Raiders and Vikings are involved. The Raiders and Vikings, the Raiders are sending quarterback Nick Mullins to the Vikings for a conditional 7th round pick in 2024. Conditional 7th round pick. That's a slap in the face to Nick Mullen. He's not bad. He's a pretty decent ball player. So he will be the new backup. Where's Kellen mond? I don't know. And where's our boy Sean Mannion? Yeah, well I think yeah, somebody. I think Jarrett still will be the backup for Derek Carr. Yes, Todd. Isn't that interesting? We were just talking earlier about car or cousins. And then the Raiders and Vikings all of a sudden make a deal that has nothing to do with either one of those guys. That means Kurt cousin is going to be able to ask Mullen coming in. Hey, let's make what makes Derek Carr so good. Vikings mulling, Mullins overing and you whiffed. I know. Good idea. I can't even give you a bloop there. All right, we'll take a break. I saw where Carmelo Anthony is going to have a four part documentary series. And I thought, okay, I think he's trying to play one more year. Could they do the first three episodes on just his one year at Syracuse? Because that's mean. We like Carmelo. I did, I thought he was a great in studio guest in New York years ago. And I even told him, you should be out there more and let people see your personality. But what do we looking at? I mean, the Denver deal going to New York, and he didn't get along with Jeremy Lin, reportedly, didn't like the Jeremy Lin got all the headlines. I guess maybe where he grew up in high school basketball, winning a national championship. Do we need four episodes? Yeah, more. What about his dominance in the Olympics? No one cares. What about those ten games in Houston in 2018 and 19 Daniel? Don't sleep on those two games. He had 38 against Argentina. I don't know if he did, but it sounds about right now. Nobody cares. 38. Who was it? Was it mannix talking about somebody's Olympic career? Ricky Rubio? Rick? No, I forget who it was. And he said, nobody cares about Syracuse retired his Jersey, by the way. Oh, they did. Carmelo. Well, they should. One year, one year, 6 months. The apple. I think mannix was referencing Lamarcus Aldridge's Olympic career when he's talking about it. No, no, no, no. No, no, no. We were talking about somebody's greatness. No, no. Durant. No, it was Durant. Really? Yeah, 'cause I was saying, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant. He goes, oh, you got a factor in Kevin Durant in the Olympics. I go, no one cares about Kevin Durant, the Olympics. The fact that we couldn't remember that mannix brought up Kevin Durant in the Olympics. Oh, you got to factor that in. Give me a break. So mellow, I guess, says a four part series. But also, they're doing a documentary on the redeem team in 2008. So that might overlap. Carmelo's Olympic dominance in one of those parts. "And substantially better with play action. So I think we're going to learn a lot about O'Connell's offense and how it may look a touch different molding to his current Vikings rosters in the preseason. That was one of the things I was looking for yesterday. Kind of going back to your question at the top. One thing we know. Offensive line play is vital, especially for Kirk Cousins. It's not for a lack of trying either. You look at what Minnesota is spent in draft capital on first and second round picks over the last few years. It's abundant, right? You look at Brian O'Neill, made a pro bull at right tackle last year. Christian Darrow Sal, even though he finished 67th in pass block win rate among tackles was a fantastic run blocker. He overcame an early season injury, Darius did improve as the season goes on. And if you listen to Daniel hunter, he said, Derrick Sal looks night and day compared to this time last season. Ezra Cleveland appears to have found a new home at guard. Finished 5th. Run block win rate last year. Did finish 44th in pass block win rate. So again, not the best pass protector. Hopefully, in year three, there's a decent chance for Ascension there. And then the surprise thus far, and it's not set in stone. But at Ingram, the 59th pick out of LSU, starting to see a little bit more first team reps at right guard, even though Jesse Davis was the perceived starter at that job. Did start there yesterday at right guard during the preseason game, still a few weeks ago, so keep an eye on that. But I think it's important to kind of focus on the offensive line for me. Because you have Kirk Cousins. And yes, I think across the board, you look at cousins, he continues to be a quarterback that's better than perception. The money he's made, right? All the guaranteed money being one of the first quarterbacks to get that guaranteed money. Everyone kind of views him as needing to be or the best quarterback. you look at him, he's certainly performed quite well and you go from this stale run first offense with a coach that hated him to an offensive mind and Kevin O'Connell, who was telling people like cousins as his quarterback will still preparing for the ram Super Bowl. To me, that says a lot. And you look at cousin splits when he was kept clean verse pressure. They're pretty staggering. It's one of the largest dichotomies in the NFL. Great out 19th best when pressured among qualifiers, graded out second when cap clean only Joe burrow was better last season when kept clean than Kirk Cousins. So it's going to be vital in this Vikings dropped back offense to maybe bring in some more quick pat sing, have a little bit more of a rhythmic offense. Let's see if that's ultimately what unfolds here. Justin Jefferson, you mentioned, is just an absolute animal. I think he's going to be, yeah. You see why he's going early in round one now in fantasy drafts just because he's continuing to get better, the offense is going to be a little bit more past heavy. If you listen to some of the things going on in camp, he's just been an absolute monster. I think he's going to have a fantastic season. He's coming off a year where he's responsible for more than 45% of the Vikings air yards. Adam Thielen is healthy. I understand he's getting up there in age. And he's probably not talked about as much as Justin Jefferson now, but the word out of camp is that he's kind of thriving and is very fine being number two on this team. So far through camp, everyone's saying Thielen looks like he's kind of back to his 2018 form. He did great out last year as the second best red zone receiver. Bury him quite yet. Irv Smith could make a little bit of a leap when he returns from thumb surgery. If you look at Wes Phillips background, he's now the Vikings OC, Phillips was in Washington when Jordan Reed was elite, Phillips was in Los Angeles the last three seasons. That's the exact time Tyler higbee's production started soaring. I think that's interesting. Your hope, delvin cook can stay healthy, and that he's not actually slowing down as a player. You look at some of the metrics 82% of cook shards came on carries, where he wasn't touched the first two yards. That was a league high rate. It could indicate these slowing down. But I saw cooks, right? Looks like he's in great shape and in delves defense. He's never really been a huge wiggle guy with a lead elusive. Just cook has always been the one cut downhill runner that has this innate ability to make that one cut without ever slowing down. But I think all this kind of needs to come together quickly. Because Minnesota does go from a schedule of defenses and past defenses that were below average last year to a top 5 schedule in both this season. I do think though that the Vikings are poised for a little bit of an outbreak. Yeah, you mentioned cooking what I was blown away with digging into some of his numbers. Three straight seasons with 1300 plus scrimmage yards. I know, and this coming from a guy who hasn't played more than 14 games in a season during any point in his NFL career, but since 2019, he scored 36 touchdowns. The only two players in the NFL that have scored more during that span. Derek Henry was in a class by himself and one of his division running mates in Aaron Jones. You talk about quarterbacks that Mike Zimmer hated. How about Kellen mon looking a hell of a lot better. Albeit in pre season against the Raiders than we ever saw last year during the preseason Mike Zimmer and maybe Minnesota doesn't have to throw the baby out with the bath water and they can be patient with mons development as he's putting a legitimate threat into Sean Mannion for being this team's backup going into the season. For the Minnesota Vikings defensively, pain Ed donatell will see exactly what he can whip up. There's a couple of familiar names that have departed from this Vikings defense, but they did go out and bring in some guys that they think can make an immediate impact. Darius Smith, the familiar name back there. Harrison Phillips, Jordan hicks, and then of course you fortify that secondary in the draft with a strong safety and Lewis sin coming out of Georgia and Andrew booth, a player that you weren't quite sure what he was going to project to coming out of Clemson. But this is a stop unit that would have made the purple people eaters absolutely cringe a season ago.

Kirk Cousins Vikings Justin Jefferson Brian O'Neill Darrow Sal Daniel hunter Derrick Sal Ezra Cleveland Jesse Davis Joe burrow pat sing Connell Adam Thielen Minnesota Kevin O'Connell Thielen Darius Irv Smith Wes Phillips

"You guys were talking about how you're watching your preseason games this weekend. Kyle, you were in LA, right? How did you ingest all your football this week? I'm so glad you asked, because I wanted to watch the New York area stuff, and I'm in LA. How can I watch this? How'd you do? Wow. NFL plus. I just pull it up. Easy, loved it, saw it all, had a great weekend. Great to be back with you guys. And Peter, give us some sweet, sweet sealer Seahawks action. It's just fun for steelers fans. Kenny Pickett out there, same stadium. He played in college, of course, 20th overall pick. And we get there, Mitchell trubisky, who's going to get the start for the Steelers. They saying it's a, it's a battle, but a true biscuit is expected to be a starter. Who's that, Jason? Is that gunner? Gunner, the former patriot, has found mason Rudolph like a lot of quarterbacks here. Pickett would finish 13 of 15 for 95 yards and two tons unbelievable debut as far as preseasons go. Gino Smith played well for the Seahawks as well. Steelers win 32 to 25 and it is all Kenny picket time Pittsburgh. And it's a little bit time for George pickens two, 43 yards on three catches, and he gathered in a touchdown as you saw the excitement there are four picket was due. So that is pre season week one. And the potential for this offense looks dynamite. It does. It does. But are we overlooking it in terms of the potential? Because we've been talking a lot of steelers, but the offense in particular have we overlooked it. I definitely have. I've been talking about the defense. We had cam, Hayward all. We talked about what, we talked about makeup and Patrick. We talked about which trubisky, are we going to get? Is it can you pick it? Make some Rudolph. And we haven't really focused on if this still is office can actually be really good. Pick and look to be the real deal. Not only to touch now, caught one on the sideline, getting his feet right in, just made place. Anthony McFarland was fun to wash for me. I love McFarland's. Obviously, we know the nausea Harris show is what's going to be on the full screen. But as much as they want to run nausea Harris, he's going to need a break. And mcfarlane was just the speed. His ability to get in, break tackles, being able to make something out of nothing, you see him cutting back. It was really enjoyable. So for me, I think I was kind of focused more on this deal as, oh, they're not going to be as bad as they kind of look. And maybe they can be a lot more than we think. We talked about gunner's touchdown. The gun show had a few nice receptions in the game as well. So this deal is offense at the quarterback can play well in Mitchell trubisky looked well and his first game first preseason action. And Kenny Pickett, I mean, you saw the way to fans reacted. So those two guys that we may be able to get a lot more than I was thinking. I'll speak for myself. You guys have kind of been on the Mike Tomlin train. I was kind of doubting them, but the offense looked a lot better last night. Well, it's fair to doubt it. But I'm wondering if it's not addition by subtraction, but was Roethlisberger, maybe holding them back from some of the things they can do because these are both mobile quarterbacks and picket and trubisky. They both can do things out of the pocket. And Roethlisberger didn't have George pickens. Is it too soon to DK Metcalf? 18s passed on DK Metcalf. And right out of the gate is a rookie DK Metcalf was spectacular. And I was like, how do you draft Andy Isabella over DK Metcalf in? One of these scouts seeing 8 different teams pass on Metcalf and he has been as good as we thought he might be. Pickens goes so late in this draft for wide receivers. He's the second round pick, 54th overall. I'm wondering if this is going to be like the Brady 6. If we're going to be looking at this and being like, hey, you took taekwon Thornton in the Patriots over George pickens, took a speedster at a Baylor. Hey, what are we doing taking Christian Watson at an North Dakota state when George pickens was there? Because here's a guy who dominated at Georgia. He was awesome for the bulldogs. And there was injury concerns, some teams had character red flags on whatever it was, but you see the sheer talent and what you're hearing and training camps. It wasn't just like a one game thing. Ten days into training camp, I said it on Thursday when I stood at that board. There's no player getting better and bigger buzz in George pinkins. So you lose juju, but you've got claypool. Of course you've got Deontay Johns. Now you add in this guy like, I don't know, like the Steelers just get themselves a star at wide receiver and do so in the second round of the 54th pick? Yeah, and how about a connection called picket to pickens? Did they start? It sounds pretty nice, that's good. Allow me to overreact because someone has to do it. I like that kind of picket. I've always said that the Steelers don't shake. They're the bedrock foreign franchise. You never bet against them. They're always winning. The one thing that can really mess up a bedrock franchise is the quarterback controversy. The uncertainty. And let's just bear this out. So Mitch got the job done last night. Mitch knows how to be a starting quarterback. We also know that Mitch's Mitch and he is not going to turn into John Elway. It's not going to happen. So if Pickett continues to wow, and he continues to get the fans going and continues to look the part. What if the Steelers slump out of the gates? What if they go out to one and two? Listen, it's Bengals patriots and then browns on national television to start the season. Mitch is not playing well. They're one and two. They're Owen two and they're going to the national. Is there any is that the winds start to blow then for Kenny Pickett? Because Mitch trubisky is not a guy here like, nope, nope, nope, I'm not want to hear it. Mitch is our guy. He's not. You have no history with him. You have no long-term commitment to him. He is a guy who's a pro who you brought in to be the starter, but boom. I don't think Mike Tomlin is afraid of anything. Should they stumble and they're not scoring and the defense is playing great, but they can not win these games. Watch out for a picket thing. That could be a thing quickly, very quick. Do you remember when trubisky was drafted second overall? Mike glennon. Is this not the same thing? But what's different than that is that John Fox was the coach of the bears that year and it was in his last year. They have a Don as a head coach who will do nothing that he's not in favor of. We will just not kowtow to media or anything. If Tomlin says, get him out, get him out. That was the problem with your biscuit. Back then, is that John Fox? I think if he comes out rough, like I think it's a quick hook. I do. This comes back to my newfound equation that I've adopted, which is a truly powerful team, has that headline paragraph worthy article worthy front page worthy unit. And then the other one has to hold their own. Just be solid. You've been saying it. We've been talking about the Steelers defense up and down left and right. Rightfully so, let's write every feature we possibly can about the Steelers defense. They deserve it. But this offense, all you have to do is be solid. Grow together. Hold your own on your side of the vault. And this team could be really, really good. Listen, we've been painting the Steelers with Karp launch material because Mike Tomlin always makes the right decision. He is an excellent head coach for a reason. This quarterback situation on a lot of other teams, we would be throwing up red flags left and right. But the fact that Tomlin, we know, will get them there eventually. I think they have some wiggle room here to find the right guy, whoever it is, but I think this team could be sneaky good. Sneaky is not the word that should be ever applied to the Steelers I take. That's fine though. I think when the rubber meets the road in a few weeks, everyone will pick their division winners and their wild card teams, including us. Who is actually gonna say Pittsburgh's making the playoffs or not? I don't know if they are. When you look and you see the ravens and Cincinnati and whatever the AFC is so good, how much respect do you have for Tomlin and what they got going that you're saying, even in this year's AFC, I'm still thinking they can get in the playoffs. I don't know how many they're going to do it. Yeah, I don't think. I don't think many people. All right, those four rookie quarterbacks had the NFL's head on a swivel in week one of the pre season, but rookies weren't the only signal callers turning heads, Peter, which quarterback caught our eye. You know, Kellen mond had a really interesting rookie season. I think interesting, but it could also be a potentially setback of the season, his first year. Mike Zimmer was open about how he didn't think he was ready to get on the field. The Texas a and M rookie last year. I didn't see the field and Sean Mannion was secured the second job, no problem. Sean Mannion was out there yesterday and then Kellen mom comes in and played better than Shawn menu. And Kellen mon looked the part. Had some rough starts in this one and then all of a sudden got settled in and when they went up tempo was moving the fact I'm not done with Kellen mond yet. I know it's year two but the Zimmer era is done. It is the O'Connell era and I think Kellen mond, not gonna start for Kirk Cousins but we don't know how long her cousins are gonna be there in Minnesota. This was an important game for mond and I think a lot of people need to see something from him and I think he showed it yesterday. He went through a lot of personal growth and then he was at Texas a and M. He was there a long time, jumbo Fisher taught him a lot, but

"Everyone's just going ahead and giving him the MVP trophy for this. Touchdown pass. You're not optimistic on Trey Lance after the one game we got to see in the preseason there against the packers. Yeah, no, the one game we saw. Yeah. Like everyone else. Just give them the MVP trophy now. I mean, it was good. It was a good step in the right direction. Maybe a sign of what Kyle Shanahan and John lynch and, you know, their organization has seen in them why they're going to move on from Jimmy G, but I try to be all cautionary this time of year. Don't try to get too high too low one way or another. It's one performance versus largely backups. So we'll see. That's a big thing about it. You just don't know what you're getting. I mean, you play well, that's great. You want to have a good pre season. That's great, but it does not, there's nothing that says that correlates or translates into the regular season. Well, wait, real quick. Jackson will sell in two right now. Do you think that that will? Okay. That's a prelude into the season. They might be the only consistent. And regular season performers. Well, that was urban's fault. Remember, guys. All his fault. So yeah, I mean, San Francisco feels like they got their guy and Trey Lance. I mean, is this just going to be throw them out there for a little bit, get to the regular season and you just roll the dice and say, all right, we find that now or never. I mean, the good news is they open up against the bears. At least they're going to win. Is that in Chicago? That's in Chicago. The field conditions. I don't know that game is going to take place actually. That's fair point. It might actually have it out in the Orleans and racetrack out there in Chicago at this point. They might or they could just go to Wrigley because nobody would be playing games at that time. So there are options there in Chicago. It's still baseball. But listen, I mean, come on, the cubs. At this point, they could probably shut it down. As far as as far as the Panthers go, the fact that Baker Mayfield got the start in their first preseason game, kind of a telltale sign about where this quarterback competition is at if we want to call it that. That seems to me like we're about done here. Like Baker Mayfield is going to be named the starter. And then we just move forward and we get Baker Mayfield versus the browns. That's cool. Why are we even calling it a quarterback competition? I don't know. I mean, it's not a quarterback competition if they went and brought a guy in after the guy who's quote unquote competing with was already there the year before. Like you wind up brought the guy in unless you thought he shouldn't be your guy. There's a lot of Sam darnold defenders though. They're going to not take kindly. If Baker Mayfield doesn't play well, those defenders might be well within their rights. I don't know, I mean, he's got the red ass, you know? The puffy bottom. There's like Baker Mayfield normal and then Baker Mayfield red ass. I'm just telling you. Look, when Kansas, they didn't shake his hand and he grabbed his crotch and threw him the middle finger on the sideline. That's what you're getting in the show. I think he did. He didn't. I'm most positive he did. Pretty sure. He didn't throw a middle finger. I'm pretty sure it's grabbed his crotch. Well, he should have. It's his fault if he didn't. But if you're going to do it, just different than the pros, man. It's just different. It's just different. So he could have his puffy bottom as he liked to have. Just hits differently. I don't know. He came in with that puffy bottom, set the touchdown record. If he can do it again, at this point in his career, all respect. Because that's going to be a tough one. Well, I can make one win a little bit of money this year. Take this take this to the bank. Here it is. Baker Mayfield will have more touchdown passes and deshaun Watson this year. Oh, come on. Is that an actual proper? No, I wish it was though. It probably is somewhere. Oh yeah. I get suspended the entirety. How much juice is on deshaun Watson then if that's the case? Oh God, he's probably like a puzzle. 90,000. Like $10 when she rolls. Well, there's a lot. It's already a lot. Ew, too much. So yeah, we got $2. We got all that, all that fun stuff. So it feels like the Panthers got their quarterback. The niners got their quarterback. Tell me this much. Do you guys watch yesterdays at all? It was another quarterback that Mike Zimmer despised. Yeah. How about it? Despised. And Kalamazoo plays well. Is that an overstatement Jonas based on Mike Zimmer's past comments about kalamata. The Mike Zimmer hated Kellen mond and Kirk Cousins hated them both. Doesn't make any sense. He didn't like either of them. But two of his quarterbacks. Yeah, I mean, maybe it's because they decided on something that he was against. And so he used that to judge them and not be a big fan of them. What's the comedy set in some about what's about kill a man getting some potential snaps and he's like, I see him every day in practice, why would I do that? And I think it had everything to do with those guys that they weren't vaccinated or something. And they were in a meeting room and they had a little bit of a COVID out because it wasn't Sean Mannion started at Lambeau last year. And basically it put the Vikings in a bad spot to where they needed that game. It was a tough point in the season. And I just remember thinking at the time, well, actually put you in a bad spot was the bad start to the year. That's what put you in the bad spot. Or the fact that your defense can't get off the field on third down. And you went from being the number one defense, like 5 years ago, to now all of a sudden being one of the bottom half bottom third in the league. Maybe that's hurt you a little bit. The other thing that's interesting about, I mean, look, the COVID thing, that's still an issue this year, right? We've got all the protocols and stuff in place. Oh, yeah. People are still getting COVID, man. The difference is how they're treating it now. Now, I was a CDC just came out. You don't have to quarantine. Yeah, they've completely changed everything. I think the NFL is handling it now very similar to the flu. And they've said that anybody that's vaccinated or not vaccinated, we treated the same. They've just sort of acknowledged, all right, we got to move on. And the NFL was on board with this probably last year, a year earlier than everybody else saying, all right, you've got to learn to deal with it. You got to learn to move on. And so Kirk Cousins gets sent home from camp. He's got he's got COVID. And then Kellen mon goes into Vegas and puts one together. How about that? Rough weekend for Mike Zimmer. Talk about a roller coaster. He was probably thinking to himself Kirk Cousins. This is what you get. And then he sees Kellen go out there and deal like he did. But I never understood is how there was it more understanding for athletes who are in that top 1% of humanity. As far as the shape they're in, what they put in their body and all that. And yet we want to judge a bunch of people who made an individual decision that they're like, I don't want to put that in my body. And there might be some people out there who can't relate who are like, well, but then you're not making it safe for everyone else. And it's like, well, look, trust me, this person's not at risk. This individual is in that 1%. That's not at risk. And so if you're concerned, then I don't know what to tell you, but to judge them for not wanting to put certain things in their body. I don't know. I could see both sides of that conversation. And I understand Mike Zimmer's frustration because the protocols, but it's a little bit unfair for him to tell a guy what he's going to

I wanted to go, I wanted to go Kirk Cousins because I think the some of the staff there is not. No, no, they got the coach out of there. Mike Zimmer is gone. I think they're frustrated, but they don't have a tough visual. But that's Kellen mond. Yeah, from a and M. He got hurt last year a little bit. But also our buddy, who used to be with the rim, Sean Mannion. Yeah. He's gonna need a couple guys to get hurt to get in it. I'm gonna go Jameis Winston. I think Andy Dalton and Ian book are in play. "Those out a little bit. So it does not take strength of schedule into account the Bengals did play a softer schedule. I haven't built that into it yet, but yes, so anyways, the point is the Bengals, it has as plus 4.9 per game, the Titans are plus .99 per game. All right, that was man. And that's why we'll never be bob hart at a chola. Because of that bit and the number of people just tuning out right now. Beer. All right, let's go to Saturday night forty-niners at packers and look, this is my take on packers fans. Your existence has just been miserable for like the last calendar year now because number one you had to deal with all the Aaron Rodgers stuff that ended up being sort of a whole lot of nothing last off season, but also the last two years you've gone to the NFC title game and I don't think this team in 2019 was better than the 49 scene that beat them, but it was a complete collapse by Mike Patton's defense in that game, and then last year I do think the packers, you know, if they match up with that bucks team at home ten times, I think they beat them 7 or 8 of those times, so you get upset in your own building in a game where the defense again, not the same level of meltdown as they had two years ago, but just a couple of coverage bus at the absolute worst time. So basically your team just out there and what another 13 games and regular season and if you lose one of the next two weeks, you're just gonna be all bummed out about the season once again. And that's no way to live. You gotta find the little moments of joy that come in throughout the season, but I realize that's been difficult. With that said, Connor, I do worry a little bit about this defense because the last two meaningful games we saw them in that were not against Sean Mannion. That was the win over the browns and it was the win over the ravens. You had coverage bus. You had problems on the back end, and jair Alexander is back, but you know, I don't know if dropping a guy in there who's missed the last couple of months here is necessarily going to fix that and certainly you're going up against in offensive coach who can exploit and create those sort of issues for your defense. Yeah. Not to feed into the Aaron Rodgers narrative that he's like the most schematically or personnel wise like a pressed quarterback in NFL history. But of all quarterbacks who have started ten or more playoff games in their history, Rogers has the worst defensive points per game performance of any of those quarterbacks, like by far. And I think in his last in his last three playoff games when he's faced the forty-niners in each of those, the Ford narratives have scored at least 35 points, which is wild. Think about that. So I don't know, I think that this offense.

"It was not a good game. And from an evaluation standpoint, what is there to benefit from Shawn manion? What really needed to happen was Minnesota needed to put kell in mind into a game and evaluate how good he is and what he can do. And Zimmer, after the game called out Kellen mon, they're like, well, is there any consideration to maybe put kell in mind into the game and why? Mike Zimmer's like, no, I see him every day. Why would I want to see him in the game? It's like, jeez, that is, first of all, really harsh and uncalled for, but also very short sighted. And I think you can learn, I just, I don't know. I don't think practice is the best way to evaluate. It's pretty good. You see the guy everybody that's great, but how about you see what Kellen mon can do in a game? Because if nothing else, if you're going to get blown out anyway, with Sean Mannion, who there is no future with Sean Mann and he's not gonna be your future franchise quarterback. Let's see what the young guy could do. And it's another example of Mike Zimmer totally mishandling an offensive situation and just being very conservative and weird from an offensive standpoint. Raphael writes in and says, hey Zack, what's your opinion on resting starters before a playoff run? What teams or players would benefit from resting? Any teams that should avoid doing so. There are many interesting situations in the NFC this year. So someone else wrote in about this with the Bengals. So if you rest your starters, you risk losing momentum. If you're not playing, you're losing an opportunity to fine tune some stuff and get ready for the playoffs. That's one thing. But also you don't want people to get hurt. What if you'd secured a playoff spot and then you play a quarterback in the final week of the year and he gets hurt and he misses the entire playoff run. Like, hey, you're gonna get destroyed for that..

"Lay an under at 12 and a half, but it's just so hard to watch this Jacksonville offense with a struggling Trevor Lawrence throwing to probably the worst receiving core in the NFL. That line steamed all the way up to 17 too. Mac Jones, a rookie quarterback favored by 17 points. We hadn't seen a line that large in favor of rookie quarterbacks since 1987, which was the NFL strike season. And the last time we saw it in a non strike season was all the way back in 1976, but like you said the Patriots cover that number easily. They joined the cowboys as the only team this year with multiple 40 point wins. And they clinched a playoff spot. That's the surprising one of the other subplots is that Jamar chase now the favorite for offensive rookie of the year. So we just mentioned the Patriots playing. We mentioned the Bengals playing. That's why I wanted to bring it up. And I've been saying all along that the narrative is not a quarterback award necessarily. Production and sure enough, Jamar chase is finally here. A lot of the awards markets moved lapped this week. We can talk about a couple of them later on the show, but yeah, Jamar chase entering the week he was plus three 75. Now he's minus two 20. Mac Jones was minus four 50 entering the week. Now he's plus one 80. Jamar chase, winning a lot of people, their fantasy championships this week. Put up 55.6 fantasy points in PPR, the second most points we've seen by any player in championship week in the last 20 years, only behind Alvin Kamara last year when he had the 6 touchdown game, set the single game rookie receiving record, chiefs just had no answer for him on the outside he had 12 targets caught 11 of them, but yeah, it just shows the volatility of a lot of these future markets this week that you can see a guy go from minus four 50 last week, play well, put up 50 points in a win and now he's plus one 80 just because Jamar chase had a couple big games in a row. So these awards markets in the future, especially the ones that are voted on, very, very, very volatile. We can talk about some of the other movements if you want. But The Rookie of the year ones obviously the biggest one. Yeah, and I'm just, I feel vindicated because I was saying, look, chase is going to get there. Jason gonna get there because Mac Jones is not the narrative of the Patriots and I had a feeling they'd lose to the bills and whatever. Because roger's taking off and he's now what -400 or so. That's certainly I did not anticipate. I thought he would be more punishable by the voters based on some of the off the field stuff. But maybe I got a little too caught up in that. But it's so much of it is just handicapping the voters as much as you handicap the players. Let's go to Sunday Night football because Kirk Cousins being out move this line to double digits and it was not as sort of it wasn't as hyped or it wasn't as intense. We were just as excited with the cousins being no longer available in Shawn manion starting for the Vikings and this was all packers from the start. Well, I ruined the Shawn Megan started ruined the trend of every Vikings game being decided by a single digits. They had gotten 12 straight games decided by one score and then all of a sudden they get blown out last night by the packers. Perhaps there's a bigger gap between Kirk Cousins and Shawn Manuel and the odds makers indicated that line was about 6 and a half or 7 before the cousins injury had closed 12 and a half. So about a 5 and a half, 6 point move between Kirk Cousins and Sean Mannion. Packers go to 12 and four against the spread this year, tying Dallas for the best mark in the NFL, Lafleur 13 and four against the spread in prime time games. Packers are 5 O against the spread and prime time game this year. So they've really been cashing for betters who want to chase in these prime time games and like you mentioned Aaron Rodgers now -400 when MVP, he was minus one 70 entering the week. You could have gotten him at a pretty big number is just a couple of weeks ago, but I was completely with you on fading Aaron Rodgers just because I thought that sports writers will do it against him, but every other MVP candidate seems to fall in his face. After a week except for Tom Brady, but Brady had the national television shutout loss to the saints where he lost off his weapons, lost another weapon on Sunday, which we could talk about or not talk about doesn't matter. But Brady's od actually moved from plus 700 to plus 5 50. I thought 7 to one was some value on Brady and I looks like I'll get some closing line value on that. But like you said, this race is basically on ice. The packers clinched the one seat. So they don't really have anything to play for anymore. So you have to imagine that Rogers is going to win this award, but as we've seen, these awards can fluctuate a lot from week to week. Yeah, with roger's not playing getting the one seed. You have to visualize. What's the path to victory? We talk about in fighting MMA and boxing. What's the path to victory for the other contenders? I just don't think there is one. I agree with you. I mean, Brady, if you throw 6 touchdowns, 500 yards. Is he gonna pass? Rogers? I don't think so. I don't really think so they're playing that answer. Yeah, they're playing the Panthers, which is not exactly a marquee game. And one interesting with the line in that game is Tampa Bay hosting Carolina. That line is only Tampa Bay -8. So if that line is expecting Tampa Bay to play all their guys, that blinds definitely double digits, but the fact that it's only 8 tells you a lot, obviously Tampa Bay has been very banged up, especially on defense, and then the receiving core, but that 8 point line is a pretty juicy, if you think they're.

"Visit CuriosityStream dot com. Vikings, packers. All right, so the Sunday Night game a little bit anticlimactic, no Kirk Cousins because of COVID protocols. Sean Mannion gets to start for the Vikings in very cold weather. I should say Sean Mannion leading Russia for the Vikings on this night 14 yards and two carries beats out down cooks 13 yards on 9 carries, and that's about all you really have to know about this one. The Vikings were kind of outclassed. And just kind of an easy one for the packers. I think the concern for the package has been what happens on the defense side of the ball, but this was not really a night to be tested. Yeah, it knocks the Vikings out of the playoffs. I think what is at the 5th time now in 8 seasons that Mike simmer team hasn't reached the postseason. He was on that streak of every other year for a little while, but these are not these are not good times, doesn't necessarily seem like there's an easy way out of this. Yeah, I mean, that's probably, we don't expect there to be a ton of head coach openings this year, but the Vikings could be one potential dark horse in the mix. But for the packers, seal up home field advantage and the playoffs and the conditions that they played in Sunday Night will likely be the conditions at NFC teams are forced to play in for the duration of the playoffs and I think the big question will come at the end of the season for Aaron Rodgers and the packers. I mean, yet another successful regular season they got the Matt Matt Lafleur writes. And here they are the number one seed again. We'll have a good chance to make it to the Super Bowl, but how does the season end and then what happens from here with packers and Rogers? Sort of weird that the very system that Rogers spent the entire off season rebelling against has built one hell of a football team like the packers are really good, you know? And some of their best players like de laundry Campbell is making nothing this year. Like they found that guy in the middle of nowhere. Outside of Micah Parsons, like the best linebacker in football this season. Douglas? Yeah..

Not of this offense but this team is the offensive line. I'm going to go the d. Two straight up d. I thought that was. It could have been better again. This was the part of the offensive line. We thought they would improve upon not too much because everyone was talking about this awesome but because we thought if they're gonna struggle anywhere is gonna be in pass protection so I thought it was a d. We'll give it a straight up. D mark davison of the touchdown under podcast. He gives us five bingo dollars and says good morning james. What's the best way to celebrate. Chicken and waffles or steak and eggs. Here we go steelers. Let's go stake in eggs for me. Ten out of ten times. I've not a chicken and waffles guy. Just so we're clear absolutely. I wanna cross answer. That and i wanted to say chicken and steak. No exit all changed. Very good sean. Mannion said dollars. Bill sold out against the run. They did. They dared the steelers to throw the ball and the road. Or throw it. Beyond the line scrimmage you know well it was also the fact that the steelers couldn't. We're gonna talk about this here. Second steelers didn't trust. Bend it either. Only back candidate either. Trust the steelers to pass protect ben in a everyone's play action throw down the field. They feel like couldn't protect them well enough to do that in my opinion especially in the first half in the second half to creative. I think that's worth it Noting and Let me bring this up. Gabriel gold nieves five dollars. A no confidence up you got it. Yep perfect Tj watt as long as. You keep keeps improving. The offense gets a new playbook down. The season goes along. This is going to be a great season. Thank you for the tip. Gabriel we appreciate it. He's dave off. Take off save. I thought let's go to the receiving coronel. Juju smith schuster lease with four for fifty to chase capable three for forty five yanti johnson. Five for thirty. Six a nifty touchdown fryer mus- one for twenty four iran wants one for nineteen. They had Wow one two three four five six seven eight players targeted and they all had a reception what he has think of the receiving core. Brian go ahead. I want to give this receiving core a minus. I tell you what they didn't do anything to go crazy and break the game wide open. But they didn't have the opportunities. But i don't know what the stats are on drops. But i don't recall a drop if there was one. It was not doubt. I don't know how that how that's that actually works out because everybody differs on that but there was nothing agree. Gis the deontay. Johnson catch was absolutely spectacular. If the if the steelers did miss connect. It was probably more or less on ben at that point that it was on the receivers when they had to step up with a big. Catch the stuff that juju did not spectacular in the box score but juju did some amazing things chase klay poll with that fantastic catch. Fryer mutiny baron. All with big hatches in game I like the. I like what the receivers and the pass catchers in in this game. I dave go ahead your opportunity to grade the pass catchers. Yeah i'm going. A and i mean the only thing that's keeping it from an a plus is you know i wouldn't call that one drop that some people might complain about with john johnson. He was reaching up and it hit his fingertips. You know that would have been a really big towards the sideline towards the screen will say that if you're watching on tv so that would have been really tough. There was a couple of times that they didn't seem on the same page early in the game. I don't know if that was on the receiver on our on and other than that. You're right they were coming down with the big plays and i mean the catch the day to have that. Focus the chase clay won. I mean even. James washington comes in with the johnson goes out and it's all right away and you get on that on that play What like nine yards. When they abide the it was fantastic. Done complaining about the receivers at all i. So what was your grade. Oh okay. I'm going to give him an as well When the steelers needed to move the ball it's really the air like you said it was never the receivers fault and it just was great to see when they started connecting with pat. Me had the big catch. Ronnie brown with huge dan version. Jews you had some great conversions. This is the place you have to have and so was a great outing. Thought about the past catchers they were spread the love around which is what we love to see. Steel eight gives us two dollars his thoughts on jc talking about jay. Z has now are coming in for kendrick green for a few plays. Joel that debuted. What did you think of that injury. No i think. I saw one report where they're saying. It seemed like green was getting a little bit too chippy. With some of the bills. I think he played one play in the start the second half and then jason came in and then green was back out there later that someone reported on twitter might have been that he was getting a little bit pushy. Chevy with some of the players and they just wanted to maybe calm down. I don't know if that was true or not but whatever it was. It seemed to work all right brian. Do you agree with that. Absolutely i do you know if he is You a young guy with a hothead could really cost you. And so if that's coaches moved by saying hey we like what you're doing but simmer down there buddy bringing in a house and then put them back in you learn from that because i've got another chance. Yeah i got a call my stuff down and frustrated if you listen to his interviews. He gets frustrated. He wants to lash out a little bit. Tom era there's five dollars as receivers be plus. Dj ben weren't on the same page. Most of the game. Everyone else was ready to play. I agree with that all right. Let's go to the offensive line in terms of pass protection. Brian go ahead and give a great net guard. You don't i will go ahead and.

"10. Quick screen batted down, Sean Mannion let it go in a good job there by Jonathan Cooper Cooper, the seventh round draft choice set of Ohio State. The rookie got his hands on that quick throw penalty flag on the play as well. Good for you. I guess I could've you said you have some breaking news for the Broncos regarding this game at, uh, empower field at Mile high for Saturday. Yeah, the Denver Broncos, obviously thrilled to welcome back a full capacity crowd to empower field at Mile high. And consistent with local guidelines. There are currently no restrictions that empower field at mile high for fans who are vaccinated. Guests who are unvaccinated are struggling, encouraged to wear a face covering to protect themselves and others. They say they will adjust their covid 19 procedures as necessary this season. Based on the most up to date, local guidelines and league protocols. They say the number one priority is a safe and enjoyable game day experience at empower But they will not require vaccinations to attend. Nor will they require PCR tests, which some of the other stadiums are so basically Anybody can go out there. You have a good time on Saturday night honor system. Good luck with that. Good luck with the old honor system. So if you're not vaccinated, where a mask Yeah, they're really going to do that. Just isn't gonna happen. I mean, they're strongly encouraging it. They're not. They're not mandating it. Well, that's why some of these places are like, guess what? Vaccine during not if we're gonna have everybody masked up because we do not trust those who are not vaccinated to be totally honest about it. Okay? And I just want people to be safe. Take care of yourself and your family and take care of your neighbors. 100% take care of your neighbors. Alright, So give us a story on. Why why? Preseason It really is very important for everybody. So I had this teammate. I won't mention his name. Uh, want to embarrass him? What's it Ryan with? And I can't tell you, but but this was in the league and you chicken. This guy. Uh, this guy was He was a starter. Okay, started on the offensive side. And the only reason that you can know these things is because when you're on the defense you on the sideline and you can watch if it's happening to the defense, and it happens on the sideline. There's no way to know because you're in the game. Okay, so I was just on the sideline with the rest of the guys on defense. This guy runs a play runs. Motion comes back to the sideline is and is hyperventilating. Hyperventilating so much that he can't go back into the game. And I, just as I sat around and talked to myself. Man. What's wrong with this? Dude? You know, like And then I realized he had never played in big time games ever in his life. Not in high school, not in college. The NFL was his first big time game, and this was pre season game. And I thought to myself. This guy will never play. In this league. Ever again. Boy, was I right about that. When I look at these quarterbacks It's the same scenario if you can't play well in these games when they're playing, they're showing you vanilla defense is, you know, like Teddy Bridgewater hits, Uh It's uh um Judy on that that overall And he gets down to the two yard line..

"Yeah the broncos for sure here loved the is. Is anyone else getting run on that team pro. There's probably a fourth quarterback that i'm not seeing on this but hey we're finding that one What's next we got new orleans plus two and a half at baltimore. So here's the thing. Harbor i think is eighteen and three in the preseason last however many years And pete nece sean. Payton is six and fourteen normally doesn't give a shit but that's because he had drew brees like our tastes him and james is gonna play in this. Ravens also had the mars up. Future hall of famer triple sticks. Rg three but now they have tracing sorely. I'm going to stay away from this one. Actually not these two. I'm taking the under thirty five and a half. I think there you go. Here's the biggest line of the week. And jesus bangles plus six against tampa bay. Feelers bangles grew said boroughs. not playing. We saw what their backup was. Last rate Bruce said the starters will play some four tampa six. You think antonio brown's come out there and play like there's no way he said the fucking starters plain dude. What do you want me to say. You think they're gonna spit in bruce's face and say no. I'm not playing. They might play like a drive. But still that's not gonna affect the guests who the backup is blaine gabbert. Then kyle trask. Oh yeah trust might get some run. Their what i'm saying is their first team is so good at the deep squat. I also somebody totally forgot. They spent a second round pick. Kyle trask he must be like actually kind of good. And then so you brandon allen for the bengals and then it goes to kyle shurmur eric. Dungy part of those guys hurdle heard of those guys. I have no idea who the bengals or team not. we're talking about. football here. Tangles could win by thirty. No one's gonna care. But i don't know who the fuck these guys are. Kyle sherman i should do. Did they play college football. Call shurmur bandy de legends. Classic band quarterback. I should have known that legend not batting dungy syracuse legend. They're good football. Team always don't weren't continue battle in the new york jets minus one at the giants. Parts of the jets room. Never taken an nfl. Snap you have to take the giants who just solely based on. Joe judge the boys joe judge may have. The boys played four quarters. Yeah this is dan campbell. We're being honest. Joe judge you may have the boys play all four quarters who comes in. After since they obviously lost mccoy. Mike glennon skycam skycam and then clayton thorson. So scotch and the jets. We don't know what to get there. I don't know the jets might stink again. Feels like chance. They could definitely really feel strongly what else you got. Texans plus three at green bay. Probably gonna stay away from us. One texans do quarterback taxes quarterback room. It's not the strongest d. Do you think they'll throw sean for four quarters fucking best skew. Magin them out there. You think they'll potentially may think they'll they'll grow another i. There's no chance to shawn watson suit up for this game. Would fuck fucking explode if he's on the bus. That's insane so dow tyrod but then he got driscoll and davis mills. That's all they got. They got four with mark ingram in the wildcat though seriously green. Bay's obviously got jordan love. Yes he might get iran. Yeah are we actually going to see him play. You think because yeah yeah. Stay away from with hackers here. What else chiefs. Plus two and a half at san fran this is do they do. They let trae lance go. Sanford's the way to go. I think yeah just because of trae lance absolutely. Who's the chief scott fucking behind mahomes. A big big kenny. Anthony gordon then. Shane beuchel and henny won't play now. We'll probably be tone gordon and shambhu. Shell anthony gordon actually pretty good. If i remember correctly washington state probably gonna stay away from that one to anything else seahawks plus one and a half at vegas all hammered one. Certain team here. I hammered the vegas raiders. Think mariota's gonna play mary auto but if not peterman. Still though nate peterman my friend they peterman is the greatest. Preseason of all time for of all time be knocking. You can't make that raiders number big enough you. I'll lay thirteen. I may do an alternate see. There's an alternate spread. La thirteen with raiders. Who they played seahawks. Yeah who's gina smith. Yeah but he won't play. They're fucking out goof. Sean mannion sean. Man give me nathan peterman for any. There's a sunday game right now to more so too. Damn jesus battle. La chargers at rams rams catching three probably gonna go in. Let's face it he's never ever gonna play Stafford at a preseason game depends if the wolf is back like the wolf gets dropped off in the ambulance before the game. I would take plus three with the ramps. Guess who else is on that fucking quarterback roster quagmire duck duck cottages a high. Me rams are probably the player. Yeah let duck eat dude. Who's behind herbert. To be honest with you could question. I'll actually pulled up right now because chase. Daniel p probably won't play now. He's east stick who they were actually raving about who eastern stick east and stick. Yeah they're all fucking raving about him. He's an north dakota guy And then caja costello who i mean stanford and the mississippi state. How is the idol. No i know i know. "Listen, we all may have better things to do just cannae. Look, I'm excited again, and the fan in me is thrilled that this team is in the post season. This is what you every year you go to the gate, and your only hope for your first hope is is to get to the postseason to get into the tournament. The Bears got in how they got in while you could sit. Have a conversation, but that for forever. What does it mean? I you're talking. Listen, The fan in me is happy They ran. Come on. Me to like It's another week where we It's appointment Television. Not that the NFL playoffs wouldn't be appointment television for us, but to follow our team against the New Orleans Saints, a team that we've played a lot lately, too well, not well took him to overtime, though this year and that was that was before money. Mitch come imagining Mitch would have been on the center for that game. That's the way The bear's ways that game and listen, I I told you, I get off the Mitch roller coaster a long time ago. I'm not willing to get back on it. It's just it is what it is that what this through third thing I ask of Allah and black the true Thursday. It's not people think I rage against Mitch and I want to talk about this game and about Everything, but it's again. It's walking and chewing gum at the same time, would you say it's the zoom in vs Zoom out approach. It's the It's the gift. Or whatever the mean that was going around all week that I kept getting tweeted with the stupid damn picture of Aaron Rodgers next to Mitch to biscuit and their 1st 50 games in the record or something like that. That's the thing I wish would go away that conversation. They lure me back into the fight. Because these people exist in they're out there and I don't know how how they're thinking right and how one can watch a narrow in Roger's game in the first few years of his career with the Packers and Bears game in the first few years of Mitch is career And and compare the same. Did you watch the Houston game? I mean, like, Look, they lost that game. Listen, it's the same converse it like, if you want to play that game, everybody out there and I don't want to play that game because you you immediately. You take my attention away, or are you? You? You, you, you. You make me hit the off button when you take that approach. I could sit here and tell you, like the Bears have only beaten two teams with winning records in two years. There's 16 and 16 the last two years and they've got three wins against teams with winning records. Do you know those teams were Minnesota twice last year? And Chase Daniel plagued 99% of the snaps in the first win, and Mitch beats Sean Mannion in the second game and the game this year they beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They hated it Falls was quarterback like so I mean, like I can throw that. I don't want to have that argument with people that don't show me a board of Mitch is record versus Aaron Rodgers. Is that I'm gonna have to tell you the only team with a winning record we beat this year. Nick Foles was a quarterback and do I think Nick Foles was a good quarterback for us this year? No, so it's not cut. It's not simple like that. It's just not Use your brain. Use your eyes. Mitch isn't the worst quarterback in the National Football League. Not even close. Can you praise him for bouncing back? He didn't play. Look what he gave us. Basically what we thought we were going to get. It was who he has been for two years yesterday. You're going to see him do some really good things against lesser teams out of the pocket and on the move when you dial stuff up for him when the level of talent of your opponent goes up And you're forced to do different things. It doesn't go is well, that's real. That's not banging on him. That's reality people. Like this team is eight. Nate the last two years. I love them. They're my in my blood during my soul. I'm glad they're in this in the postseason, but that doesn't mean Two years is a lifetime in the National Football League. This sample size is enormous. And it's not just Mitch. It's your offense. It's your defense insurance tire team. Yes, that the bad teams you struggle against. You have three wins against teams with winning records the last two years and again. This is not bitch centric. This is overall as a team. You beat the Vikings twice last year. One time it was in week 17 when they couldn't give him a dump. About the outcome of the game because their seed was secure. No one ranted against the Vikings last year, like the ranting this year over a quarter of football with the Eagles when the liking sat everybody that players play that's a different conversation, and you beat the bucks this year. Yes, it was Tom Brady. He forgot what down it was at the end of the scene. Now moment. You don't you still win. But like this is where you kind of have to zoom out and go. Okay? I'm thrilled during the postseason. They are who we've expected them to be over two years, aren't they? Or they have defined themselves in pretty clear fashion. You're eight and eight in 2000 and 19 Year, 88 and 2000 and 20. You beat the lesser opponents. You mightily struggle against the better teams in the National Football League, as most teams do. But you can't consider yourself one of the quote unquote elite teams when you struggle with that. Class of roster that class of team so Like that's the conversation when you simplify things for our quarterback, and you get him on the edge, and you asked him to do the things that he does excel that he can make some place. He's not the worst quarterback in the league. He'll be in this league for a very long time. When the level of talent of the opponent is escalated, and he's asked to get out of that comfort zone and do different things. We've seen how that goes again. It's not banging on him. What you saw yesterday. Was exactly who this team has been for quite a long period of time. Great agreed, and it really good stuff right there, and we want to hear from you today. All right, So this is in a certain way still like a victory Monday because they did get in. Hell, yes to the postseason. It was weird. The way they got in that Arizona Rams game was completely weird. It didn't shock us. What, though the Bears did ever really good game plan against the Packers. They were in it going into the fourth quarter than that cute, fourth down play. We'll get into that. And then I want to. I want to share with you. How Many of us are getting the cake and eat it too thing with the bears in the postseason. For those who like that, and I think we all like a postseason game and the season to be extended, But we still make it changes. There are there's There's some serious discussion out there that maybe with the front office. We will get some changes the phone number to reach us 3323776. Like most Mondays after bears games we want to hear from you. We have really no guests scheduled because we have marching record five thirty's a part of the show Plenty of time for you were talking about it. Are we going to also get changes and a playoff berth? That's next. You're Listeningto Waddle and Sylvia on ESPN 1000, Chicago's home for Sports Captain Jay Hood.
