Final 53-man roster projections for all 32 NFL teams
"We're to get into the fifty three man roster. So today, we're going to make some projections I did a roster projection heading into training camp was on July twenty seven I had Jalen Hurd making the team I had Sean Coleman making the team. I had a few other players that they're just not going to make the team for whatever reason. So we're going to do that again today after trying to cap after all the news after everything we've seen and read and it will let's just compare to see what's changed since. So start with the first things first quarterback, Jimmy, Garoppolo, nick, mullins, CJ, Beathard I think they all make the roster I. Don't think that that's going to be very you know very controversial. It should be. I mean yeah. I I. Agree I all three of them making the roster as well. Especially, this season with Cova did I imagine that most teams will try to carry three quarterbacks if they can especially just given you know you never know. What happens if Garoppolo or mullins or you know they were to test positive or whatever the case is right and they were mistime than having Beth who understands the system? He's not great by any means just having them in the building is going to be advantage. Advantageous this season. I made this comment to someone else earlier Beth. `Red to George Kettle is Kinda of like you know James Jones or Mike Miller was. and. Lebron he's like teams back in the day. He used to have like those guys like travel with him. I think CJ beathard and George kind of like that George must have somewhere in his contract that Caesar method must be on the roster wherever he is. Those our buddy buddy but jokes, apart I I think all three of them will will make the team. So that's funny. You say that because Caitlin Beth one throwing to kill this off season for the most part it wasn't. Garoppolo. So maybe there is this weird clause in the contract right? I mean I feel like I could make a stronger argument where you carry two quarterbacks as opposed to three just playing the odds last year I can understand it as you know Garoppolo is coming off an injury. So you want to just protect your quarterback you WanNa make sure that you know united last minute fishing for a quarterback but you know he's out there he looks comfortable. No knee brace. In just in this situation I just can't understand a situation where. What are the odds that your third quarterback plays a snap in the regular season game just play the is I imagine that's less than ten percent very, very low at imagine. Right if we're going to do that, yet are the likelihood of a quarterback testing positive for having that whole situation happened shared night. There's a possibility that can happen without. It'd be a risk that I'd be willing to take, and I would much rather have you know a position player as opposed to you know a third string quarterback that major. May Not like the is that he throws a pass on likely and he's not going to help you in special teams or anything but that's I mean that's a Shanahan's ways and I don't see that changing I. Wonder if that will change you know this year with mullins and method both moans is a restricted free agent, right? Yeah. MULLENS will be back. He's restricted free agent. CJ BEATHARD is directed So hopefully, this is the last we've seen of method. CONHAM. I. Hope they don't some deal but Yeah it's tough. Especially, you know when you're having. Debates over other positions trying to like squeeze some other guy and you've got who's affected taking roster spot and like you mentioned, what are the odds that he plays right? but just given. Kyle and where they draft method and what they're trying to do I think they're gonNA, they're gonNA keep him on the roster rather than just swallow their pride and cut him. So both said before the pod before we hit record, this is what we think is going to happen not necessarily what we would do if you were in charge fifty, three man roster so.

"This. Jokin got the best reparations by definition are only given to victims. So the moment you give me reparations. You've made me into a victim without my consent, not just that you've made one third of black Americans who poll against reparations into victims without their consent, and black Americans have fought too long for the right to define themselves to be spoken for in such a condescending manner. You know there's way too much confiscating people's money and giving it to other people because it sounds good to you. I think we could start there. It is just such an impossibility of bothers me to see people being pandered to and be being tricked into this idea that if if I can convince you that you don't have a chance. Then you'll be dependent on me as a politician, political party. And I will hold that power over you for the rest of your life. I find that to be repugnant is that we just heard from. Oh, that's a good point. That's Sean Coleman Hughes. He's most notably writer for Quillet magazine been on the scene for about a year or so. A grad student very bright young black guys. Yeah. Speaking about he doesn't one reparations, and it was not meant very well in the my son. Their news heckled in the crowd told the shut up. Yeah. You know, the endless and the there are so many logical problems with this. If you begin with the descendants of those who were abused the slaves, and I get the post slavery, Jim crow era in the early twentieth century was in nightmare, and the rest of it. I get that. But where does it stop? Certainly American Indians. Have a fabulous claim or native Americans whatever you want. Whatever term, you know, I happen to be of substantially Irish heritage, they're terrible discrimination against Irish. People wasn't the same wasn't as bad. But, you know, I get some reparations for that. Right. And just the list is very very long. And then you get into the logistical problem of and my favorite example of this is comma, Harris whose father was a black man of Jamaican descent, so it's entirely possible. His descendants were slaves. I don't know it to be true, but it's possible were slaves. Brought to the Americas hundreds of years ago, but not by any Americans or the United States, and then Kamla herself or I'm sorry, her her mother's family. No, I got a backward, you know, mothers, families of Indian descent. So how does that work and then Barack Obama's even better, his dad was a black man from Kenya ache Kenyan? That family didn't get shipped anywhere. They're still in Kenya and country in Kenya. Thank you, Michelle. And, and his mom was a white woman who somebody traced back her family may well have descended from slave owners. So what the hell does Barack Obama, do dizzy Wright, a checker get one and then to himself, and then you have a body of people who have a much more logical approach. It's still wrong. But at least it makes sense that well, listen. No, we're not gonna write checks to people. We're gonna invest tremendous amount of taxpayer money in programs to, to help black folks in the modern world. Well, again, at least that makes sense, but, you know, my argument would be or my discussion point would be there already been many trillions of dollars spent on that very idea. They have been miserably unsuccessful and have created dependence in a lot of ways. And. That sort of thing is ongoing, so you're just asking for more spending on certain social programs. Okay. That's fine. And we can talk about that, but don't call it. Reparations. But again, and I may be wrong on this God forbid, it will never happen. It's completely unimplemented and it's just pandering. And delivering a message, the, the most insidious things politicians is they convince you, you can have no happiness or life without them. I hate that mess. I think most of the democratic candidates are for reparations Biden is not even if they know it's in their hearts, they say they're in favor of what's coming up your news Marshall, emergency White House meeting going on right now after Iran, launches an attack on a US drone AO AOC, doubling down on concentration camp statements.

"All right. So you know after. Sunday's game the Cleveland Browns being the Cleveland Browns. They bounce their head coach Hugh Jackson as well as their offensive coordinator. Todd Haley, they're both out. Right. And if you go back three years ago. The eagles went from thirteen to eight to two to select Carson Wentz. The Browns were the teen. The eagles traded with to get up to number two. Very well. Could've taken Carson Wentz had the opportunity. You are quite sure exactly why they didn't. There was some controversy. There were certain scouts and personnel. People who literally. From accounts stood up, and their pre-draft meetings and said, you absolutely positively have to take the sky you have to take Carson Wentz. And when the team when they got wind that the team wasn't going to do that. Lot of these guys quit. They literally walked out left. Part of the Browns draft the personnel out of there. So this is interesting this little tidbit now that the the shackles are off. And now that he Jackson doesn't have to tow the company line. He had this to say to Cleveland dot com regarding whence and the Browns drafting him back in two thousand sixteen. Oh my gosh. Yes. Did I like Carson Wentz? Hell, yes. He did something that no other quarterback. Did I give them three minutes the memorize the book and put on the whiteboard? He put it all on the board in two minutes and forty eight seconds. I've never had a guy do that in my entire career. But the plan was never to take a quarterback that year. It was all about trading picks to get picks trading back to get picks. If you're doing that you've got to pick the right players. So let's take a look at what the Browns ended up doing. Right. And this is courtesy affiliated with these picks. I keep line. They went the analytics route they brought in a former baseball guy, Paul deep, Pedescale, etc. So by gathering picks and not taking Carson Wentz. They took Corey Kalman. Sean Coleman Cody Kessler Ricardo Louis. Derek kindred. Jordan Peyton Spencer Drago Djibril peppers, the Shawn Watson. Chad Thomas, Denzel ward Antonio Calloway. Not a lot of those guys are just gone summer out of the league. None of them comes close to Carson Wentz. That's got to be a tough thing. You know, because ultimately, it's your reputation your job as you Jackson your jobs on the line. If you don't get it right now, I think Baker Mayfield actually is the real deal. But it doesn't matter if you Jackson at this point. But if you're sitting there as a coach, and you go through that exercise and Carson Wentz nails it, and you know, the physical element. Is there? You know, the work ethics there the smarter. They're, you know, all these kinds of things yet your hamstrung. Your hands are tied. By an organization that has a philosophy. It's gotta be brutal. Now, a lot of people are now are coming out now and say, of course, he's going to say this. Now, he's fired that he loved them at the time. But if we're taking him on his word that sucks like I think Hugh Jackson was a good head coach to begin with anyway. However, we know what a difference a quarterback can make on a team. So that's tough man when you see that. But it just goes to show. You gotta be aggressive. If you believe in what's going on. I know a lot of people this week. When they heard the news on Tuesday that the eagles gave up a three. For golden Tate who can walk after this year. There was a free agent after this year. They said man, that's a lot to give up. And it is the third rounder is is very valuable. But if you're a firm believer in what you have and you are the eagles, and you still have Carson on his rookie deal. This is the time to be aggressive now. Before you have this monster a steel, and it impacts your entire team. Now's the time to the aggressive, and if he walks you'll get a compensatory pick, which probably could be a fourth rounder zero sensually extinct exchanging a third and a fourth. I have zero pro I would always err on the cauti- on the on the side of being aggressive rather than the cautious side, always at any turn. And I think if you're an eagles fan, that's one of the things you love the most about how he Roseman is that he's always going to be the aggressors it always gonna work out. No, it's not and they're gonna make mistakes along the way. But I'd rather make a mistake of aggression, then just sitting back eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four pound nine four nine four and your AT and T and Verizon cell, and I had this discussion yesterday with Ike Reese when I was in for John marks. You look at the way certain teams. Really really got hit hard after their quarterbacks got paid Baltimore's. A great example. They haven't been the same another better this year and their defense is really good. But they haven't been the same since flacco sign that monster deal. The saints up until last year went through a big stretch were they weren't real good impart because drew Brees had this bloated contract. Jubilee breezes is a hall of Famer and he wants Super Bowl he deserves. It. But you also look at the way Tom Brady has handled his deals if there's anybody in the league, and you went through Green Bay in that with with you know, with Aaron Rodgers too. But if there's anybody in the league who deserves to be the highest paid it's Tom Brady. Production and championships period. That's it. We can argue all we want about Aaron Rodgers. And and how he's the greatest talent. But he hasn't won the.

"Bolt. Nobody thinks about that. Robbie gold is played here. More than any forty Niner in Robbie Goltz career at Lambeau Field. His field goals nineteen for twenty. Now that is incredible. But by the way that was the freezing game. Now, what do you remember do you? Remember what the game time temperature was that. Yeah. It was about. I think the game type temp got like seven above. I just I still have pictures on my phone. I walked out on the field at before the game. Obviously there was no grass on the field. There were small little clusters of burnt out. We'd and most of the field was was rock-hard frozen mud. Basically. There were still Clete marks from like a month ago frozen in the field, and they painted over it all to make it look better for TV. But it blows your mind when you see that understand they've never put turf in here. They still have grass and we were dead was down to I walked the field before the game. It's spectacular this field right now is as nice as could possibly be. They had a ton of rain here in Wisconsin. This fall which helps and and the other thing you come here. And finally Mike holders been missing for half an hour. You know what I'm saying? That means six Braatz. I came here to go out with you guys at my team has God where the hell are they? Fact, wait, what is it can pull vodka has just put it up that goes over their total? It was five and a half. Brought. Got odds. And the other thing I'm sitting here. We're sitting here in our booth. We have the the Monday night football monitor. Rod Steve Young is not look like he's having fun right now. He was out somewhere somebody's front yard where they're grilling. And he does not look they did have a great call. We'll talk to you. All right, guys. Thanks Ted Robinson up in the broadcast booth stores is not like the bits on Monday night football. I can tell you that from a firsthand account. So you talk that. Guess is the weather. It's just they make him do crazy stuff and the bids for Monday night football. And he's not a fan. He participates man. Of course, Chattan Tim will be on the call. And we'll we'll throw it to them momentarily in they'll take it over. Hey, the inactive list is out Dante Pettis, Josh Garnett. Trent Trent Taylor is out. Julian Taylor, Sean Coleman, Cole wick and DJ Jones all inactive tonight. And that means Joe Staley west rich Berg, Mike mcglinchey, Mike person all the offense alignment once again or are going to go. That's a good sign because ultimately. How much can you get done playing on the road and allowed place like lambofield if you don't have you know, you're starting offense line. So good to see what a great way to take the crowd out the game. If you just grounded and pounded and pounded pounded impounded there you. Yeah. Sounds good. All right. Let's take a timeout. We're gonna come back. We've got more. We'll check in. We'll we'll give our keys to the game ticket final kind of look, maybe some wildcard factors. We'll take a look at some of the individual matchups that we're going to be honing in on in the first half. Niners Packers go tonight week six action. "And then you look at what happened at the end. I mean, the Selleck play was obviously, not his fault. And you're going to score and a ball caroms off of GARRETT'S Alexander now to sell defense. He's playing with a really bad thumb a really really bad thumb. So I think that thing, and I think had some zip on it. So it went up and over the top off of his hands. And then the last one you guys have referenced since I heard you. It was a busted blitz and Derwin James. Who's a hell of a player comes off the edge CJ solid late the ball ends up. Buzzard luck being an interception as it comes out at the end. So dude, I love it. I I think CJ has gotten so much better. I think the supporting cast around him as better in in particular the running game. So I'm excited to watch him play. Man. I I really am. So he's gotten better supporting cast around him as better if the defense can get off the field on third down, which was much better last last week against the chargers. Get him a few extra possessions. I I think you could see twenty seven thirty. Points out of CJ Beathard on this field today. And one thing I see Tim is I think the guys around him believing him. They love him not as durable as hell. I mean, there's a difference between durability and toughness, and and we know what that'd be in the locker room or I mean, do you see these guys kind of rallying around him a little bit? Absolutely. They did last year. Remember the giants game. When they they got the first win the guys done it before he can play at a high level. They absolutely revere his his toughness and his durability. So yeah, they believe in a man and he believes in himself and his talent. I mean everyone Jimmy Garoppolo great. He was pretty unhappy. When Jimmy came in, and you know after that Seattle after that Seattle game and rightly so Jimmy got the job and never looked back that pissed him off in terms of CJ Beathard and stuck in his crawl. He's a great competitor. And his teammates. No it. Hey, you know, the turnover margins always key. But man, I'll tell you if you how important is turnover margin. Consider this. The only game the forty Niners have won this year was also the only game where they were plus on the turnover table in the three losses. Their minus four in the one victory over Detroit. They were plus one it sounds overly simplistic, but this is an area the forty Niners. Just they're not their personnel wise or they can win games. Especially on the road, minus two minus. Three. She's not going to how you're right the margin for not a great football team yet. But they they've also been part of that in terms of the self inflicted wounds and not just the the turnovers, and that's big. I mean, you look at they finally got the first interception last week. It went for a pick six three three takeaways in in four games. That's not going to get it done and Dennis knows. And you guys know splash plays happen. When you splash on the quarterback if and when that happens, you'll start sito's takeaway numbers, go up. Good stuff. Tim, you got you got a wildcard factor in this thing to me the wildcard factors Christian Kirk. He's got so much speed as you said the utilize them and a lot of different ways in Rosen's numbers would've looked dramatically different holds onto the football. No question. My my wildcard is is the communication on the defense. This this team has not I mean, Minnesota a couple of real nice touchdowns. Good throws. Good catches decent coverage. Otherwise, I mean, I can go through every touchdown in Kansas City. The two mental is not even lining up right on the run game the bust in the end zone so really throughout this season. So to me, it's all about the return of squash guitar, Richard Sherman and the communication, and it's the best. I've seen it all year long watching them at practice in terms of guys talking if the communications, right? Is going to be get right game for the defense. Good stuff. Tim have great call up there. All right guy. Tim Ryan up in the broadcast booth. And of course, timid Ted will will carry you through from twelve. Twenty five kickoffs slated today for one twenty five and should be a perfect day for football. Not not not a lot to win. Perfect sunny blue skies, everybody. Yeah. And this is just an absolute ideal conditions for the Niners and the cardinals couple of things inactive list is out guys. And just a couple of final thoughts before we talked to the booth for Ted, and Tim smeeting names on this list. This is probably the most interesting inactive list. One Richard Sherman is active. He's playing today. So he gets one hundred and twenty five thousand dollars. Is that the motivate? Yeah. That's his. Oh, broken sherman's in a good mood. I'm ready. Jimmy ward, though inactive, and this is a tough one man that forty Niners with the injuries in the secondary really needed Jimmy ward to step up and play like the first round draft choice that he originally was coming out of northern Illinois and his timing is just terrible. He got hurt and like one of the final sequences of the last practice and he's inactive once again today with the hamstring. Well, he's consistent. That's for one. I mean whenever the forty Niners need to step in there and play big or play at all. I mean, he's he's just not there. I don't I don't, you know, it's not should be surprise. I mean shouldn't be you know, where's Jimmy ward? I mean, you this is kind of you know, he's Imos what what happened. I think as much as who's down who's up you mentioned Sherman, that's huge of Victor, bold. And we haven't seen him. We're talking about guys who can make plays in the last two preseason Victor Bolton. I know you're a big fan crew as as made place. I don't know how much he's going to play. But he's a guy that they activated yesterday. They're going to play him Ritchie James is a guy that. We saw in the preseason somebody among this wide receiver core is going to have to step up because you have no good when you have no pets so other guys are gonna have to step up. And then I'm excited to see this guy. Ryan Dilara because everybody has said it that we've talked to today for Matt maiocco to Tim Ryan that this guy that has flashed in practice. They wanna give an opportunity. Look, it's they want wanna give me an opportunity they are desperate outside who can play look Cassius. Marsh is a real try hard guy watched him a lot UCLA in with the Seahawks. He he's just he's not that kind of a player that is going to bend the edge and put pressure on a quarterback on a consistent basis. So they have really no outside passers. They don't wanna blitz. So we talked about a young quarterback. I look I don't care who you are in this league. If you can sit back there, and you can pick apart a secondary even like banged up secondary. Like, this even is eventually somebody's going to get open, and you're gonna hit somebody for some yard. So they've got to try anything. They can so delays an interesting one the receiver position. And we talked about this earlier on in the show. But if people are just joining this the entire. Offensive line is intact. That means Joe Staley at left tackle. And that means western rich burgers center, that's huge. And tackle was John. They must feel confident because Sean Coleman who they trade for from the Browns is also inactive today. So they often sublime in that are inactive course, snazzy Taran was waived Garnett's inactive Coleman's inactive. So, you know, who's absolutely key guy today. His shows he has incredible value to the forty Niners. If they need him as Eric Magnusson why because Magnusson can step in for rich Berg, if he goes down he could step in from gun chief he goes down. It's kind of like the Derek dece of this current line in that the dairy. I mean, seriously, the destroyer was a guy that Bob McKittrick had great trust in because you could put them at center, you can put him in tackle. Yeah. You can put him anywhere. The guy literally would fight anybody across the line in magazines a little bit like that big ten guy at Michigan and mental. It's all by Calvin Ridley at the forty yard line. And that's how third quarter ends, Sean. Davis makes the stop after a gain of twenty one. Third quarter or now through three quarters with the score. Pittsburgh twenty seven Atlanta. "He's a great player I would have been a bit, more conservative that's me but I think it playing football ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter down on his football is. A little bit I'm not going to join, you on that one but someone who's football buildings. Were waiting to find out even more about. Sam darnold. The saw your report yesterday he's got a very fair shot of winning the, starting job there, what is the. Current temperature around that building what are, people saying about Sam darnold early on and listen we're going to go to the preseason that's what the preseason. Four right to find out what a. Guy can and can't do and he's going to be given the chance to. Win the job and maybe he will. Capitalize on it and maybe, he won't but I, believe a Sam darnold chose, well in the preseason I think he's gonna win that starting job but he's got to play well to do that we saw other rookie quarterbacks do that exact same. Thing I remember the. Summer that the Seahawks I'm Matt Flynn. Is the veteran quarterback and everybody said he's the guy they drafted Russell Wilson the third round but nobody expected? Russell Wilson to come out? And play the way, he did that preseason where he. Lit up he outplayed, Matt Flynn who. Was obvious so Sam darnold, could go into the preseason. And have a very strong summer I think. He's gonna, win the job and if he He doesn't that's where it gets interesting that's right the jets say. You know what he's twenty one years old? Twenty one we've got a good experienced backup quarterback or starting, quarterback and Josh mccown we've got another. One a Bridgewater both guys are really good let's just go with them I mean jets, have no problem doing that so Donald you've got to win the job in the four preseason games but he can do that. And I think the bottom line for jets fans whether he. Wins the job or not they found their, guy they believe they've found their God they believe. They've found a a great quarterback that's going. To be. The QB this franchise for the next fifteen years twenty one years old right, now if he, has to wait. A year we'll step into the starting, lineup next year when he's twenty two years old of all the teams that took a quarterback in the first. Round it would seem it would be. The jets in the bills with the least solidified starter and Baltimore you half. Flacco in Cleveland you Jackson has doubled. And tripled down Arizona's Sam Bradford, Sam Bradford is a great this summer right but again and and this is true of Bradford in particular but anybody like one. Injury can change but my point is Starter mccown and, AJ McCarron those would be the two. Teams where they're listed. As starters but it's well by. The by the. Way I'm not ready? Just give the job to mccown and Trump saying just like right now they're considered that that's what? I, mean I think it's Peterman and McCarron that's my point is those two teams are the teams were you possibly could see. Those. Rookies because it is, the least solidified starting. Job yeah I think Sam darnold has the best. Chance of any rookie quarterback going into the preseason to start week one injuries aside right. And then in buffalo I think Josh Allen I don't see him starting the. Season right away so really leaves again injuries a rookie quarterback with the chance to start opening the end, we've had at least one rookie quarterback start on opening day for, ten years. So the chances are it's going, to? Happen again, if the chance there it's going to happen again, today you would say that that would. Be Sam darnold buffalo Hoping on. Their side whoever gets in there we'll have the advantage of maybe. A rejuvinated Korey Coleman who just got to move there and a lot's been made I think looking back now fully retrospectively at that. Cleveland Browns trade that netted the eagles Carson Wentz and the, Browns a bunch of players that are no, longer on that. Team for this Brown's organizational obviously hearing a lot, of those headlines I'm sure in their. Mind it's you know. We've turned the page on what. We believe is. Now I think on? Paper one of the more competent looking offense is in the league well they've got right now I? Think, they got the right for an office they've got John Dorsey is an experience GM they brought in Alonzo Highsmith Elliott Wolff. They've. Got guys know what, they're doing and they. Brought in a lot of talent and the two. Leftover players snacks raid I mean there are some other guys like Sean Coleman but the. Two guys that they're really casting their hopes to our Gebreel peppers the safety. For Michigan and Denzel ward the cornerback from Ohio State those two players came as a result of that, wins trade that netted the eagles wins in the Browns Coleman and a bunch of other players including ward and peppers felt training, camp report. "Right and part of our trade now the cleveland browns are on the clock at pick number eleven and we do have an offensive tackle coming off the board here mike mcglinchey goes to cleveland and i know a lot of people myself included don't value him as the number eleven pick in the draft but they need tackle help they need both tackle spots unless you believe the sean coleman's going to develop into a serviceable starter mcglinchey we've talked about a lot he's probably the only right tackle i do think in some schemes he could play left tackle and be taylor lewan type guy and once again like we've said with quarterbacks all season long the value of the position is going to elevate guys up the board and i think that's going to happen to mike mcglinchey when we get to the first round and they have a huge need and if they're going to trade back here they just lost one of the best offensive tackles to ever play the game that's a huge hole for them right now that they have to fill so they have to get it right here at pick number eleven with mcglinchey yeah i think you pointed out the key the key fact here both of you guys did but mac going back to your point about listen he could be a little bit of a reach mcglinchey is a second round kinda graded player but in a week offensive tackle class where there is a need there's a really really good chance he goes top fifteen now and like melo said listen you lost joe thomas and this offensive line is still pretty good you just add to it you plug and play here he's he's not going to be joe thomas no one will be but he can definitely be a very serviceable starter in another trade so we have the new york giants on the clock at pick number twelve because that move back that we projected with buffalo and when we were talking about this pick connor i said this is dave gelman nell i think it's real fun smith because jerry reese never valued linebacker ever he loves athletic linebacker is this expected to get to her fit someone who could play inside or outside linebacker complete weakside aspects such a good pick for team that has neglected that position and so.
