"seahawks" Discussed on The Lead
"So Mike, one of the joys of having you on this show is we always get some tremendous movie references connected to Seahawks football. So given everything that's happened, is there a movie that comes to mind to sum up the season so far? There are two, and you gotta follow me here. Okay. Eagle eye and eye robot. Those are the two movies that I'm going deep here. So the reason I would pick those two movies is because they revolve around a power struggle, which is very important dynamic here with Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll. Isn't it possible that Russell Wilson made some noise in the off season about his contract and other things about having some control in Seattle? Is it possible that maybe he just wants it's time in the money and it's not controlled? Maybe he wants a fresh start. And both of those movies you get like a creation, which this case would be Russell. He is the artificial intelligence. I think an eagle eye it's called Arya, and in iRobot is called Vicky. And the partnership works out. And then along the way as the movie progresses in both cases, the artificial intelligence figures out, wait a minute. I can actually function without you. Robots don't feel fear they don't feel anything. They don't get hungry, they don't sleep. I do. I have even had dreams. I don't need you. In fact, you are actually the problem, which is why in both cases, the machines try to take out the humans, and those particular movies, they realize, I can function at a high level and achieve what you intended for me to achieve without you. And in some in a way, you are actually holding me back. Now the humans went out and both of those because, of course, kind of movie with the machines when we'd be screwed. As a society, but those movies ended, obviously, this is we're about halfway through. But I think that the idea of like a power dynamic coming to a head between two parties is best representative of Seattle season. Wow, if I had tried to guess your movie pic, I never would have thought off the board, sci-fi, deep cuts. That is incredible. So with that in mind, we're going to make the leap from sci-fi to Seahawks football, which apparently is a short one. So we're here today to talk about whether or not this Seahawks season can be saved. And what it means for the Seahawks and Russell Wilson if it keeps spiraling the wrong direction. So first, what has gone wrong for them on the field? I think that on offense, they're having a problem scheming up easy throws for Russell. It's like, all right, when we need quick, easy completions that schema our guys open, it's things that are easily defensible outside of perhaps the play action deep shots. That's one thing. On defense, they just couldn't cover nobody for about 5 weeks. And that was a big, big, big problem, man. Real bad. And I think the players were underperforming, but I think the macro issue is the gamble that the Seahawks took as an organization at cornerback. They let Shaquille Griffin walk in the off season, Seattle drafted a corner in the fourth round. Continuing Pete Carroll streak of never drafting an outside cornerback higher than 90th overall. That's in the third round. So if peak hero is not going to be a guy who's going to pay for outside cornerbacks and free agency and you're not going to pay a premium via draft capital, that's a poor gamble at a premium position. And then now they have bad secondary, which could turn around here pretty soon, but it's an organizational failure, I think that led to the disaster that their defense was through the first 5 weeks of the season. The legion of boom is feeling like a faint and distant memory right now. No, indeed. And that was not like genius. That led to that, either they took an obvious first rounder in Earl Thomas who was killing it at Texas. And found some diamonds in the rough and cam Chancellor and Richard Sherman and legit have not really drafted any good defensive backs since then. Okay, so shaky defense, predictable offense, Russell Wilson's hurt. Now they desperately need some wins and the task of trying to win games is now in the hands of journeyman backup Geno Smith. This is a guy I think who the casual fan who might not follow the Seahawks could easily forget is still in the NFL before the last couple weeks. So how would you sum up Geno's career so far? It's like an exercise or a case study in perseverance and perhaps humility as well, 'cause you gotta look at genome. He has been the guy. You know, in high school, he was the guy at West Virginia. And he got drafted in the second round. He I think he was signed to roc nation, you know, Jay-Z's agency. He played for the jets. That's a high of highs. It does not really get much bigger than playing quarterback for the New York Jets. It really does not. So he was on a really big high. And it didn't go well. You know, we got into a fight with a teammate and ended up losing his job, had to be a backup for a while. He fell off the mountaintop, even if it's not his fault he fell. He just fell. That's the reality of it. And he had to accept that and wait his turn again, which is very hard for quarterbacks in particular quarterbacks are so used to be in the guy. So accepting a backup job is humbling, accepting a backup job behind guys like Eli Manning, Philip Rivers and Russell Wilson, guys who never get hurt. Like ever, really, three of the most durable quarterbacks in the NFL history for him to accept backup jobs behind them. That's what I think is perseverance and a little bit of humility. Like, dude, you're not even getting a chance to compete because that's just not where you are compared to our guy. Even with Seattle, you know, he keeps resigning with Seattle and one of your deals knowing Russ's Iron Man. That is tough to do, man to accept that you're going to be you're going to play the background. No one's going to be screaming your name on Sundays. You know, your family can come to the games with the angle do that but watch you warm up. That's a very humbling experience. You know, when you're used to having your girl or your mom or your brother or sister or whatever at every game, watching you ball. And then that's why Gino admitted, sometimes he'd fight back tears before games. Just preparing every single time. It is gut wrenching sometimes. You know, sometimes I fight bacterias before the game's like, man, I wish I could be out there. Knowing that he goes through the same stuff as rest warming up, watching tape. You know, grinding that practice only to go on Sundays and just sit there. And watch. That's very hard. Reality is you got to prepare and you gotta keep preparing. And that's something that I proud myself on. It's being prepared and always being ready and that goes mentally physically and everything else. So I don't know how this will look going forward, but I think that chapter or two of Geno smith's career is very human. That is to just try to persevere and be humble and be patient. Those are three things that all of us struggle with. But I'm sure that if all of us combine those three elements, we probably ended up getting where we wanted to be in life. Also, after all that waiting, Smith got his chance unexpectedly a couple weeks ago against the rams when Russell Wilson's finger bent the wrong direction. So walk us through how Geno looked after he came in. He looked like a starter. He did. He looked really good, came in, down two scores against the team with Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey on national television in a situation where Pete's philosophy had nothing for him. Like we can't just run the ball to help you out. Dude, you got to throw me down. Help. Help us. Right now and he did it. He led them down there through a 23 year touchdown a DK Metcalf. And I was taking it back. Over 9 to go. End zone Metcalf touchdown. Gino. I think I just tweeted, I tweeted holy shit, I think. That's it. That's all I had at that moment through that touchdown DK 'cause I just didn't know what was going on. It was surreal. I was like, are we dreaming? Are we in a video game? Is Geno Smith really leading the Seahawks on this drilling comeback on national television right now? Fans chanting his name. Well, who would have thought? As they start chanting Geno here in Seattle that he would have a chance to win this game against the rams. Amazon rail was storybook. Now he ended up throwing an interception that ended the game. Smith throws passes picked and the drama is over. No flags on the play and Knicks Scott has it for the rams. I can fell down so I don't entirely fault that to Gino, but just the fact.

"seahawks" Discussed on Patriots Dynasty Podcast
"Did you catch Rush speaking of rodney harrison. They made a comments on the two point conversion. The seahawks did to pull it within three. Where matt hasselbeck back says that Rodney harris has the dirty player in the league. And the reason they brought that up was the two point conversion there was a flag. And then i saw the referee do the roughing the passer motion like guy be rodney. And then they announced that it was rough pass number thirty seven defense. Of course it was rodney. Because that's the the exact type of penalty that rodney harrison gets a roughing the onto. Em in some deserted they do their replay. No it got added to the kickoff so the seahawks just kicked out of the on so fucking what. I miss it. They probably replayed it right. But did you see where Corden robinson makes the catch finally drops a couple early makes fun and legit catches it into spins on the ground. Just just stoke because he finally caught one. Yeah it harrison happened to be standing bear in. The boss spun to his feet. Young happens the next official and he's just like what's up was shall come on not taunting so they called taunting him. Yeah it's a twenty yard catch gets a negative fifteen. Weltanschauung was a thing back in the day. When i thought it was way more. Get fucking taunting call. Yep who's not wanting it all not even close to this rule ever ever. I hate this year to taunting. That's where we're concerned about them. Get real these are all grown men. Not cd were worried about. Yeah who you hurt my feelings. Because he's celebrated too much talking about the targeting rule in college and like targeting. Yeah people yeah. That's spinning the ball. Steelers Acquiring CB Ahkello Witherspoon From Seahawks
"The pittsburgh. Steelers acquired a cello witherspoon who was drafted by the san francisco. Forty niners spent four years with san francisco. The seattle seahawks obtained in prior to the twenty twenty one season in the steelers sent a fifth round draft. Pick to seattle for witherspoon. Okay this is another one of those moments where the steelers fan base is already reeling a little bit. they're frustrated. There's not j. watt contract. All of a sudden steph onto it zach banner anthony macfarlane gone injured reserve which means they are missing games one two and three no matter what then the steelers pull off a trade in. You probably saw breaking news trade alert the steelers make a trade for cornerback in. You're thinking okay here we go. Let's do this. And it's a keller witherspoon if you're like me and i'm being honest i'm always honest with you. That's why. I hope that. I can connect with you as my listeners. My reaction was who the heck is this guy. I never heard of this guy now. Granted i'm not a draft. Nick i did get into this draft in the twenty twenty one draft i was i studied. More prospects did more breakdowns. And i've ever had in my entire life. Mope witherspoon was drafted back in two thousand seventeen. So i definitely was not doing all that digging back then nonetheless you learn a little bit about the player after you get to know him in after the trade was announced as official by the steelers. Now you're looking at okay. What is this guy brain to the team. Well when we find out. And this is from people like jeffrey benedict. When people like kevin smith who find out that he's a an typically an outside cornerback. He's not a physical has good ball skills. Good size six to everyone always talks about. Oh you can't have a cornerback. That's under six foot. He sticks to ran a four five forty. I believe four or five. Maybe it was right around there.
Pittsburgh Steelers Acquire CB Ahkello Witherspoon From Seattle Seahawks
"The pittsburgh steelers have made a trade going into the twenty twenty one regular season. It is friday. September third when this trade is being reported. It was first reported by. Nfl networks in rappaport. the steelers are acquiring cornerback. A kello witherspoon. If i said his first name correct from the seattle seahawks now witherspoon has not played in the regular season with the seahawks. All he did was was signed with them in the off season and he played in a couple of preseason games this year for them and this is an before being traded to the steelers. We do not know exactly what the trade entails. We don't know what the steelers have given up. There is one thing that we actually do know that the steelers are given up their likely. Losing what would be projected fifth round compensatory draft pick from from this year because when you trade for a player that is that is a compensatory free agent that signed with someone else but you you get them via trade than they count into the formula. That's one one factor that that that's coming

"Forty one yeah get there. A gap is huge. And i'm not saying that. We don't like brandon. I because i know that these guys and whatnot but that's just too big of a gap between deal being under under drafted. I think depots being a little bit under drafted that being said it. My rankings don't necessarily reflect that feeling. What do you think matthew. So i have i twenty three. I have deebo samuel at thirty five. So i have about a ten spot difference exactly twelve spots between them and i agree with you on my rankings. Do reflect that. I'm crazy for a second. I've depot twenty eight. Wow do you believe twenty-eight who's traffic you guys are all nuts so you have deebo higher than i do you basically in the same area for i haven't twenty two twenty three thirty five twenty eight. I think there's a good case to be made for him. Being as high as you have him. I think pre people forget how good diba was over the second half of his rookie year and then he gets and then he gets hurt and then i get the chance but my concern here. Field isn't about the talent i think. Deebo samuel is in a talent at an insanely talented young man. Same with brennan. The concern is to full is that we haven't seen what this offense looks like at full strength it's been so there've been so many injuries and so many pieces. What is this offense. Look like with a healthy. George kit a healthy deebo samuel healthy brennan and trae lance under center. We just. We don't know what that offense looks like so trying to project becomes really tough again. This is super small sample size but last year weeks. Four through seven weeks. Four through seven. Deebo samuel george kettle and brennan all played again. It's like very early. And i made them right but i'm just saying like geeking injected in in that in that period here brennan was wide receiver forty three per game depot was wide receiver. Fifty three per game kill of course titan one per game. There's a chance that we know this is an offense that wants to be more run heavy than pass heavy like there's a chance that these guys eat into their target share a bit. We know that kiddle is going to be the focal point of that passing game touches for both deebo and euch right does it go to just one versus the other. I believe what we just looked. Talented oh no. That's the thing is that's what you have to trust here. I believe what we just if we use four. Seven is our our sort of window to look through going forward. I believe that is. That's that's just like a failure of logic like barely. I know i know i reject that data point okay. Super early on by the end of the season was a freaking rockstar. Okay unbelievable right right. He also but he also got a lot of volume because there was no one else. Allow you yeah. I think there is plenty of volume for three passengers on this. I really truly do. And by the way like talent hedge. And who knows what happens with trae lance the quarterback one that eventually takes place like who knows the height of this often. So i mean who knows heights of this. I just but but you're asking why. I'm a little less optimistic than you. We both agree in the talent. We both agree in the scheme fit. We i'm just concerned that there's a lot of and it's a nice problem for san francisco to have but there's a lot amounts of feed and ken this offense which we know we'll be run heavy. Yep willie run heavy offense. That's going to have a pretty good defense in isn't gonna get into a ton of shootouts. Is that offense good enough to support. Three fantasy pass catchers plus a viable fantasy running back. I think so. Obviously i'm i'm not as optimistic as you are in that particular case i do. Listen i don't have the much. I'm seven spots behind you on depot once about behind you and i you so we're not that far apart but i'm just. I'm not as optimistic as you. Because i do think. There's a lot amounts of feed. And i think there's going to be one game it'll be killed game that'll be a game it'll be like i don't know that there's going to be a lot of games. Where all three are fantasy rockstar. i think so. I think there will be instaphone yet. We have to close it out here. Let me ask you this. How many points and who are by and who were the forerunners beating in the super bowl this year. Wow let's see. I haven't even gotten off. I don't wanna. I don't want say right now. I just look their toughest might be there in the nfc west. It might be getting so nfc west. What's going to happen after they beat the lions and the championship game in the nfc championship game to go to the super bowl game. Since one thousand nine hundred there you go. Here's an interesting thing that i thought got sort of swept under the rug during that whole discussion. The idea that fields a good athlete like you know. I know coach rabah the legendary coach. Ray yeah. He lives in my hometown. My colleagues across sorry who coach. Sorry yes appeals. Caused across coach at wesleyan. And i remember tom and he says i work with field. I'm like yeah listen. I got a question coach. Just curious like listen. Just you know as as a as lacrosse player. How was field. Like you've coached so many kids over the years. How was field as lacrosse player. And he took a moment and considered it and goes. He's a really nice kid. Hard worker i kid. He said he says yeah. He really enjoyed coaching. You said you were very very nice. He took direction. Well you listened or don't make sense. Playing sports in college doesn't mean you play them. Well team was a very different story. I've never heard from that. Don't don't you worry about that as matthews tennis coach still around for us to outdo absolutely is i can tell you exactly what he would say but listen. I'm i'm also a two sport college athlete by the way all right a beer pong beer pong in wrestling like wrestling. Just leave it at that look. I'm anyway visual around the show. Thank i'm charlie making that up. Here's what i would say is My college co. My tennis coach is still around and what he would say. The great tommy canal is that i was. I never hustled. And i rarely use my feet. He would constantly yell at me. I can to this day. I can hear him as a fourteen year old. I can hear him yelling. Move your feet berry. Move your feet because they never move my feet but yelled hang on. hang on. i had incredible focus. I incredible determination and unbelievable consistency. Like the way i played tennis was you hit the ball twenty times. Hit back twenty one. You hit a twenty two hundred twenty three like i didn't hit a ton of winners but you never got past me. I was always able to keep the ball in play in just super consistent and i just wore opponents down yup which is wondering. Why aren't gonna call around the offices at why where down the tennis court. We gotta go because.

Find a way to get freelance on your roster. The upside is immense. Yeah that's exactly right. I mean trey. Lance made my loveless. He's one of the guys that i felt like is worth stashing because the upside is so huge. San francisco has one of the best offensive lines. We know what kyle shanahan can do with rookie running quarterbacks. We saw it in washington with rg. Three i like. He has gotten massive fantasy seasons out of quarterbacks before obviously the best season of matt ryan's career was under cao shanahan. So i think when you think about these skill set of trae lands the arm and the running ability we always talk about. How important is to get quarterbacks that can get you fantasy points. Both of their arms and their legs. I think trailers has a chance to be something special in fantasy and given the weapons there in san francisco. We're going to talk about deebo samuel and brennan you george kibble and the running backs here in a second but once trae sermon becomes the starter wants become trae. Someone becomes the starter. And i think it's a matter of of win not if but when tracer and becomes the starter. He's going to be a very very viable fantasy starter. I think a very like. I start his borderline top. Twelve and the sky's limit for this kid. It's confusing because there's two traits trade sermon. You meant trading land of course the quarterback but the point. Yes trae lance. Yes sorry trae sermon. Trae lance quarterback north dakota state. Sorry trae lance. Did i say trae throughout that thing just just very just one more time just for the video radio people. I apologize guys. I will say this trae lance. It's important to get quarterbacks that get fantasy points with their arms and their legs trae. Lance has that ability that dual threat ability. We know kyle. Shanahan has the ability to get fantasy points out of his quarterbacks. And so when not if win trae lance becomes the quarterback of the forty niners. I think it is immediate an immediate fantasy starter and very much worth drafting at the end of your draft and stashing on your bench because i think the upside is so big with trae lance in this offense. Now talk about the running backs which will include trae sermon. Just a moment. They have a lot of backs in san francisco right now. They've god where he most. They've got trae sermon. They've got weighing allman. Eventually jeff wilson back. After tearing his to michael hasty they claimed off of waivers and look pretty good for them last year to gangling back to you. What was your read on this backfield when you spend time at training gay. Yeah i think we're he most is the clear number one in the backfield right now. He's electric if you remember. He had a couple of plays last year where he reached the top speed of anyone in the nfl. One of those was that eighty yard play in week two before. He had his first injury. Which was a sprained. mc l. And then dealt with a high ankle sprain later in the season so he only played in eight games last year. Nine games in two thousand eighteen. You mentioned the running backs. They have depth there at. This is why they have depth. They've dealt with a lot of injuries at that position so remote again leads the charge there but they have to have insurance and as kyle shanahan has shown us he likes to use multiple backs multiple receivers and kind of inner change those two positions when he can so the hardest part for of the forty niners. This year is that. I think one of these running backs go to wind up being value. Clearly there's going to be stretches. Where like where he most has like a six game stretch where he just the clear cut guy and he kills it right art. You'll start and then maybe late in the year. Jeff wilson comes back and he has four years where is useful. The problem is that. Like i could see any of them being useful for a given stretch matthew so i think draft strategy is. Do we think it's worth investing in somebody like where he most or if you're going to go on this for niners back say you know what bank on. The upside of someone like trae sermon. A third round pick out of ohio state. The oklahoma trae sermon made my others resume votes on my love. Hate list so he. He's one of my favorite late round targets this year because i think his skill set is a perfect match with the kind of running game that they run in san francisco Having said that remote toss them really. Almost moster is really really good. Big playability thirsty. Kyle found this stott. All running back rahima sturt let all running backs in percentage of getting at least five yards. Minimum one hundred carries like like win rahima healed. He's a big play and happen. The problem is him getting on the field. He's missed fifteen games over the last three seasons as well for some reason they didn't really use them a lot at the goal line last year..

"Who are ranked like aaron jones or a nick chubb players might have slightly more work weekend and week out. Let's get to the wide receivers matthew and we're talking about two of the very best. In fantasy in real life period decay. Metcalf who last year was wide receiver. Ten he had eighty three catches for thirteen hundred and three yards and ten touchdowns but again jekyll and hyde season his first. Eight games eight touchdowns. His last eight games two touchdowns. I'm not concerned. Matthew i people have theorized as to what happened last year in the second half of last season changing of philosophy opponents weren't necessarily vat dramatically different. I mean you're. I thought it was like they were playing teams. That were pretty good in the first half playing to pretty good in the second half to but like early russell. Wilson played porn second half of last year. Think that's fair. And i also think that in the second half of the season last year there were a number just because i remember i. Id k metcalf in the war room league and one of the reasons why we. I think we fourteen last year but like he had a couple of tough games against jalen ramsey. A tough couple. Tough games against patrick peterson like he just. He suddenly got locked up a few times by true shutdown corners like he had some to some really tough match ups over the second half of the year. But none of that concerns. You know what i'm turning. Why grabble answer. why why. Why eight touchdowns and then two touchdowns and that's what happened. This is that the production fell off a little bit. But you know in like there. Was that one game where like he. He caught a touchdown pass and ran the whole distance. I wanna say it was a monday night or it was a national game. Remember they get called back due to penalty like he'd done. Nothing i want to say was i want to see. What was it jalen ramsey. It was either. The cardinals game are is member of the game where he caught buddha baker unbelievable which is also amazing but there was one where he had a long touchdown called back due to penalty which was sort of like this ticky tack holding penalty on the other side of the field. I remember that being drove me crazy. Anyway i lotta daycare. I had a lot of decay metcalf last year. So just would love areas zoned in wide receiver. One player that has as much touchdown upside is basically any wide receiver other than devante atoms. Because of his skill set down the field and also the fact that in the red zone he is a terror would like to see a little bit more consistent volume. You did have eight games last year with four or fewer catches but i think that will increase year over year. He still by the way is only in his third. Nfl season right. Which is is the guy top three and ends targets. You know top eight in red zone target to your point like just like just an absolute beast in sometimes by the way when he gets a little reception. Don't need it because it's like it's like when you when you score on eighty yard touchdown play like for one twenty-one fine exactly yeah exactly. Let's tyler lockett though because tyler lockett is going to be drafted high matthew wide receiver twenty four on both your in my board. But he's going to be maddening he just will be. It's a fact every year. You look at last year's raw total thinking yourself. Wow one hundred receptions for one thousand fifty four yards and ten touchdowns now. I hate when we do this. Because i'm guilty of but i'm gonna do it right now when you take away a player's best game. How would the season look if you take away. That one game last year or tyler. Lock fifteen catches for two hundred and fifteen yards in two touchdowns over fifteen remaining games. He had eighty five catches for eight hundred. Thirty nine yards and eight touchdowns that obviously. He's a really incredible player. But we also know that from weeks. Twelve to sixteen last year weeks twelve through sixteen very important portions of the fantasy season in five games. Twenty one catches never more than sixty three receiving yards and zero touchdowns during that stretch over the course that he's going to be amazing but we had multiple years here from being a little bit up and down which is why i do not have them inside. My top twenty wide receivers. Even though if i had the opportunity to bet. I would bet that he will finish the one of the top twenty scoring fancy out this year. Yeah exactly. I mean he. This is i think this is something that brought up my dre manifesto available now on. Espn dot com for free..
Seahawks Make Jamal Adams Highest-Paid Safety With 4-Year Extension
"Breaking news more out of the nfl world. Hey defensive player just jot terry. Jamal adams who was in contract negotiations with the seattle seahawks. The reason he is on the seattle seahawks because he was in contract negotiations with the jets. An absolute stud has now come to terms at the seattle seahawks on a four year. Seventy million dollar deal. They'll make him the league's highest-paid safety. I'm told says. Ian rapoport at rap sheet thirty eight million guaranteed breaking the stalemate a long time coming and well deserved. It was reported this morning that jamal wanted. Forty million guaranteed in only thirty. Eight million was offered and guarantees from the seahawks. This seattle times had reported that this
Seahawks Have Offer out to Jamal Adams; No New Talks With Duane Brown
"Jamal adams there but not practicing dwayne brown there but not practicing. My theory is was seattle. That pete carroll push for this jamal adams trade and they gave to i a third and a safety for jamal adams and it looked terrible if they don't get this deal done so the seattle times has to reporters this morning that have said the seahawks appear to be willing to move to sign atoms. But not the left. Tackle dwayne brown and i'm like timeout. Left tackle safety but my my belief is pete carroll lashed last year the defense was a mass bottom half of the league they had no pass rush and i think seattle over and i liked jamal but they went crazy on him and now they're back into a corner 'cause they can't just bail on jamal adams they gave up too

"Shanahan's often now talking. There's only one way to get. Mike salk excited about a wide receiver. And it's to invoke the name of the great legendary one and only generational talent. Alright calmed down. The reincarnation of a more physical cyborg k. Mccafferty san right now. Let's say that you didn't say that you would. I said that he's gonna build a team full of thomas rawls and deebo samuel and just let it rock hold on. Thomas roles didn't work depot. Samuels really everybody likes him. don't they. Deebo samuel is perennially. Injured us really. Well he's only been in the league. Two years. How perennially kerr two years never videos depot only played seven games last year. But he is a stud. I do think that's what you're looking at here. Because so much of you know that off. The top of your head only played seven games like google. God knows if you said. It was such confident about radio theater. That's yes i do not. I do cover the night to admit that. hold on. He played fifteen games his rookie year. I was one come on how you know his rookie stats off. Top pro football reference. But i took time to you know. Let the machine do its work. Obviously you're instant with that. He's got some deebo samuel thome does he have some golden tate to him when i guess when you're talking about golden physicality and you're talking yards after catch ability and some of the build right like goldens not the fastest guy out there. But he had some of the running back mentality and played running back. Make in traffic gets crushed and doesn't seem to start selling dwayne ask bridges. The faster goal take average. Is the fastest guy out there. He's legit track star. And did i hear that. We're not to call him dwayne. It's d- d describe just letter d. d. four d. d. e. okay dia flash. Yeah the faster golden. I think he'd be the physical instinct. I like that. I didn't love golden when he was here but i'm excited actually to get somebody like him back. Yeah does that make sense. I totally get it. so yeah you're looking at integration in the running game you're looking at you know the horizontal get him in space. Let them operate and still with the speed to get behind defense and he beat Trae brown fourth round. Pick twice that much. I mean he's your fourth round pick also got track star speeds. Say nothing i watched. That guys highlight reel and it looked like he got beat a few times in his highlight. Reel yeah real watching ono. He got beat on that play over. Overthrows it many touched. The guy washing quarterback me. I was all worried about him. Okay so dsl be best part of that just a blatant drop the no fly zone here. Why don't you have to have that attitude as you do. You have to believe it doesn't make it not funny. It's the same attitude is like a sharpshooter three point shooter banks one in you still got a raise your hands on it to the wesley matthews arrow. Right you still have to leslie. Lakers plays like seven minutes a game now and he like goes one for three but he makes that one aero fernando rodney's joe's legitimately making up names on the podcast. I don't have any idea who that is. All right. We're talking about the nba. This is the broken podcast. You brought up the door. Lock within players from after nineteen ninety eight. We have rice here ahead try eighty-eight hey that's unnecessary so aright. Well so that's where the seahawks are at. You like ds courage. He's a he's a faster golden tate and he's going to be used in more ways yet We're still a little worried about what we're gonna get out of daryl taylor as as everyone should be as we should be You are pro. Julio jones yes first round pick on second round pick. i'd love it to be a third. I don't care what you want like. Will you wait a second round. would you give up a second. Pick them is restructuring. His contract Why.

"I i don't think i'm just gonna wait and see on him to everything i saw was like all right. You see some of the traits. You see the speed of physicality instincts. I think the game slowed down for a bit late in the year. Remember it was the rams game in week. Sixteen they put rams in week. Sixteen right they put them twice in a three week. Span and on the goal line sequence jordan brooks had like three tackles four play span now is kind of his signature moment and so he definitely gave you those like all right. This is what what they saw in him. And why they view him as their their future at linebacker But it doesn't totally. Does it in a full time capacity. Just you can't bank on that you can't say well you know he got jordan. They're good Again in early. You've got to take that risk right. You've got to commit to it and find out whether or not what you've done has worked. You have to absolutely or otherwise. You're just you're you're paying money to to essentially duplicate what you've already spent catches what they've done with. Quandary digs. which is why you can't afford to go. Try the julio jones thing or some of these other kind of cockamamie idea. I just tell me about the about this year's for first pick and there's not a first round pick but what did you see from s courage. Yeah i think he of the guys there. He was the one that really stood out. You never want to take away too much of an hour. Long practice with they're going. I don't know seventy percent speed. There's no one on one but but the wearing bridge was fast. And he's he's a big like you see the sizes. What like five ten but like five nine. But like he's a built dude and pete regularly instead of mentioning the the speed mentioned the physicality. I mean this is kind of guy who seems to be shaping up for a role kind of like what deebo samuel is entitled..

"We have a crowded outfield. Taylor knocking down the door. I wonder if contending teams are looking for rookie. That hasn't performed anything. No no way. I wonder if contending teams are looking for potential all star player contract. This is what got as a valuable things. I don't think you're right about those two being connected where i thought you were going to go with it. Which i thought would have been an interesting ideas. It's a way of showing faith in kalmyk la. Yeah you're struggling but we believe in you so strongly that not only we're gonna let you hit. I forever apparently were also going to deal potential competition because we believe in that strongly or it's just telling teams we think we've got a overloaded outfield. We're willing to do business. We float taylor tra mel. But hey you wanna call us about mitch if yeah hey you know. We're willing to move in outfielder. Hey guys we know. We saw your travel report. What we really wanna talk chandigarh. Like all right i mean. Hey we tried opened a business if you wanna blow us away. A guy for forty. Two home runs this year. Who gets those days injured all the time and hasn't signed a. Is there a way that you can picture where it's a good scenario that mccain occur doesn't sign a contract extension by the trade deadline is on the roster at the end of the year. That's difficult for me to see. Yeah you don't want to go into the final year with me days where you better figure out what's going to happen with mitch. Kapor you're bringing me around on. I think there's there's something to it so all that is fine. Just don't trae taylor terrell because you're greedy it's too early. It's too early to do that. Last thing here on the mariners and we'll talk to joe fan. But i got one of these tweets. Yes and i. And i know twitter is not real life so i like always kind of start with that preface but we see these things a lot and yet i'm i i always feel like they don't fully sink in 'cause it's hard and i totally get where this guy's coming from this game from a guy named david who's who in the tenth. There may was the ninth. It was after the eighth inning on monday memorial day where they blew therefore to lead and set michelle savage came in and literally which happens anyway. Says this is painful to watch today. These are the kind of losses. That are inexcusable. It's not over yet. But not smart ball like really. It's inexcusable to lose the game after you've won four straight to better team in the oakland a.'s. When you have a bunch of young guys like there's no such thing as an inexcusable game to lose in general for for for them based on where they are in their development but beyond that like the bullpen blows a lead. Of course that's excusable. That's like the most excusable thing the mariners. Anyway he wrote me back and was like. Hey because i had said well. Of course they're excusable. They're young they're rebuilding. They spent about four dollars on there. Like yeah they're gonna lose some games anyway. The response is i understand that but it's been a long drought and fans are hopeful but also tired waiting for the rebuild. I do believe they're moving in the right direction. Okay tough like i keep coming back to this answer of. Let me make this a little bit easier for you. Your patience is not gonna be rewarded in may or june of two thousand twenty one. No one is trying to take away the fact that it's been a long painful twenty years it has been all of those things and frustration is running high. I get it. I understand it. I agree with it. I support it but the idea of well. I'm frustrated so they better win in may and june of twenty one like. It just doesn't work that way. That's not what's going to get you over your anguish. What's gonna get you over. Your english is investing this off season and having the young kids. Come up and do the things they're supposed to do not whether or not gt charge. Wa- is any good. That doesn't matter shark. Gua- i don't care is a chug walk. Hasley balk on monday. And that's a bummer. Gt chug wa. The matter he it'd be great if he's good right he's been pretty good baby. He's part of it. I don't know maybe he goes back turns into a pumpkin. And doesn't that's fine but it doesn't matter whether or not jt charge doi- does something dumb and boxing run in a big game. It doesn't it doesn't matter it has nothing to do with your frustration and the long drought. He's not part of that. Nor is mentioned. Before jack mayfield or sam haggerty or there's a guy playing for them last week. I've legitimately never heard of his name. Is eric campbell. And i had to google him because i thought he was a pitcher. Who for the rangers. And i found out. He is currently at the plate batting for the mayor and i have never heard of him. Oh i heard a story. He was like to be done. Virtually connecticut the c. You yeah and then he was like yeah. I'll come this toot of college. Summer league is a career to twenty three major league hitter and we could use him to twenty three. Be huge upgrade. Thanksgiving came in. And he like he had a seventy for two weeks. Is this guy had a he. I never heard him i. It's so weird transaction right. Those things happen. I miss this one. So why were they. Keep referring to a soup. Who sued campbell soup campbell. It doesn't matter whether he's good. It does not affect. I hear you. I hear you. It matters if trump Years of it doesn't matter and that's what it is coming throughout the no. It doesn't matter. Twenty-one it didn't matter twenty didn't matter in one thousand nine hundred seventeen and eighteen and fifteen and fourteen. That's not true though it. Those many years of being told this doesn't matter. But i don't think we said that until until it stopped mattering for a little while. Never say that and say that always said it matter was furious was angry was mad was frustrated. I i don't think anyone's said those things. Then they were when they have the casino and crews and seager and like of course it mattered. You have the horses go. Put the things around them and get it done. They failed and ultimately they went around the table and said we're not good enough to get over the top. Let's tear it down to the studs and start over and so for a little while the extra pieces don't matter they will again. Trust me when you're back in june contention and that may be as soon as next heck. It might be as soon as this september if everything breaks the right way all of the sudden. Yeah you'd better not be jt charge. Gua- better be somebody that you care about. And i don't mean take shots at him. He might be fine. The guy that. I wanna take shots at who. I can't watch duggar. I i don't know what the bullpen games with him start. I can't do it. i'm ontario. Now i can deal with him. You can watch montero yes. Wow you get good star. Strong stomach must be the kidneys because he's got good stuff. And i feel like it'll turn accent that guy to the moon. I turnaround i. It's dog or catching the whole plate is it's tough for me anyway and i wanted to strangle savage the other day because i feel like there should be some sort of rule which is if you walked the leadoff man in the eighth inning with a two run lead. Something should happen to you. And i don't know what the right punishment for. It is like you get a blown save when you eventually blow it and that's a punishment and it's not like you should be sent to the minors for it. But is there like a good inbetween. Can they like doc. Some of their salary like something to just like. Show that that's just unaccepted. You just can't walk the leadoff guy with two run lead this. Please don't do that. Throw strikes throw strikes in the eighth inning with a lead. So that that's of that's where we're at as we were out with the mariners it's june. It's the calendar is soon things hopefully will matter kyle so that you'll be happy..

"They need to invest in this product. So that it gets over the top and one other piece of advice for them. Don't get greedy. Get good first before you get greedy. Get good and i'm going to bring up a story that popped up and there's another one kind of like the video jones thing where i was like non-real nothing to that. And that's this idea of trading taylor tra mel right now got morosi was floating idea as the mariners must be. Don't trade taylor terminal. That is a terrible idea. Especially if your reasoning is you have too many outfielders. Like who jack mayfield. Donovan walton. Who both get starts for you in the outfield and the last week we talking about of too many outfielders none of these guys are guaranteed celtics hitting one eighteen julio's in single a. Kyle lewis just got hurt again. Mitch anchors constantly hurt. We're talking about your consistently playing dylan. More sam haggerty and dawn wooten who a shortstop in the outfield. But you're going to start trading your outfielders because you've got a glut stop at stop right off hair. No your not get good before you get greedy. Then get greedy. I want you to be greedy eventually but make sure these guys are good. I the whole idea of having a lot of prospects is you don't know which ones are going to work out. That's why you've got emerson. Hancock and jordan herbie and logan gilbert and isaiah campbell. And and and you like all those guys are going to be great. They're not they're not some of them will turn into being okay. One of them will blow out his arm and never be anything like. That's what happens so don't get greedy. Get good then. Get greedy and hold off on taylor terminal unless you think he's bad unless there's something and i don't think that's the case i don't believe they think he's bad by all accounts is a great kid he he. He surprised them by even being in the majors to begin the year. He's now where he's supposed to be in aaa this where he's supposed to be this year. But if you think i'm battling better at aaa than he could ever hope to play a major league then you strike. While they aren't taught get some values can get more than he's worth fine but the and that's a perfectly good reason to do it but the idea that you need to drum up market so that you can get rid of your one of too many outfielders. While you're playing infielders in the outfield you might shake frailties back. Oh about jake. Further made a hell of catch today by the way. No no thank you. No thank you on trading taylor. You've got too many off. Can we throw the curveball. In this though what if that tweet that whole conjecture was less about taylor hermel and where he fits and more about the crowded outfields and when it comes to that. Who's the one player that this thing is always sort of turned on the one question mark. We haven't been able to answer. It's mitch haniger. Where is his future. A by all accounts without even rumors involved a team would want to extend mitch berger and probably would have wanted to for years and yet it hasn't happened And here we are entering his final arbitration your next year. Then he walks for free after twenty twenty two which is probably next year. Maybe you're playoff. You're maybe but certainly in two years right if you don't know for sure that he's going to be on your team in two years. Now is the time you make a decision. You have forty. Five days to make a decision about mitch haniger. Whether he's gonna be on your agree with all that you're going to walk me. Maybe i'm slow. Walk me through the end of.

"Happy to fix that. I hope we don't have to get to that point. I want no part of being a doughty fixing jerry county. But i don't know it. Just kind of dawned on me that like when he comes up in those big moments i can handle the fact that he's numbers are terrible. He's a kid and figuring it out and this may take a little while and he's hit the ball hard and been somewhat unlucky. Like i'm willing to kind of understand all i'm not happy that he's hitting one eighteen living. He's gonna fix that in the leadoff spot. No not a fan of the whole lead on last night. Bottom of the ninth inning. Right one out runner at second base. Perfect for strikeout looking. I know and it was against use mira petite right like i mean it was like a totally gettable situation for him. And you know it's funny. I watched that whole about. I don't want to know it's a podcast. We can get as deep as we want but the sixth pitcher of that was a great foul ball. I know that sounds silly. But like there's a ball right on the outside pitcher in slow motion through in. Throw the ball right dave sims about to lose their mind broadcasts. He was well. It was a great foul. And i know that sounds sort of silly. But that's one of those marks of veterans and really good hitters is that they know how to spoil pitches spoil pitches support. And he did that and was really giving me like oh man. I literally said to myself if he delivers here. I can't wait to go back and talk about the six pitch of the at bat where he had a foul ball because it was one of those ones that keeps in a bad going extended. It's important to be able to do that. Is a great hitter and then unfortunately i mean it's sort of tough. Strike was a tough pay petite a good pitch striking about. What are you gonna do. But that should be the lefty happy's zone and you're just like oh pull the trigger man and i'm sure he's a little again. He's never failed before. So he's a little betwixt and between. He's never seen this happen. This is sort of what we said all along right. Which is we want this guy to be able to to fail a little bit. So that he doesn't have to experience it in front of the world at the major league level both experiencing it how he handles this how he gets coach through it is is incredibly incredibly important to what his future so that. We're not sitting here waiting for how to fix them right. I i would. I would drop them down and give them the opportunity. Maybe they believe the ego is so fragile that would actually hurt him worse. And that maybe you just keep him where he is saying. Hey we believe in you. The results don't matter yet. we care about the process. He is hitting the ball hard at times and for now you try to let him work his way through it. This is too much to me like a lot of the conversations. We had around evan white last year. he's hitting the ball hard. It's his batting average on balls in play. he's just been unlucky. Don't worry about the strikeouts. Look at how hard he's hit the ball and at some point this will turn and we saw this last week celtics. The unluckiest battery in baseball keeps hitting the ball hard. But it's right at guys had bought that last year and it burned me well and you'd like to see a few more home runs because the nice thing about those is. It doesn't matter where they position the players it it goes over their heads and enthusiasts. And it's a home run. Yeah i i agree with that. I know it sounds stupid. And like i'm sort of grasping at at silver linings here but the fact that is on base percentage is essentially double. His batting average is a good thing. That's something that you should take out. It's like despite the fact that he's hitting one eighteen he's got an on base percentage of to forty rough walked twice last night in a rough game. I mean like he he. He's finding a way he's not being stupid. So seeing pitches has right up there swinging and flail. There's some value. I think what he's very and there's a lot of reasons to be incredibly hopeful again. He's twenty one years old and anybody who seems to know anything about the game takes a look at him like he's gonna be fine. Yeah he led. The team pitches seen yesterday the entire. Ross now we say some of the things about dustin ackley too so again like you don't know which way it's going to go but everybody who's gotten is on giving find so. I believe that it's only been a few games. Here's what seventy seventeen games or so and we've seen plenty plenty of great players struggle and especially at age twenty one. It's not like he's been in the minors for ten years like you know. He's he's barely spent even any time in the minor. So i am. I am zero worried. I mean that. I would also feel better if he would just deliver in those clutch moments because there is. That's how legend gross and a part of the whole idea of jared. Kalmyk is the legend that is associated with him. and what. it's what what he could turn into. I think that's part of what we want. So i will admit to being a little bummed that he didn't granted they came back. They won the game totally shocked by the way. If you were watching that game on memorial day blown away by the fact that there was a man on second base you and be both dude. I hate i hate it. I hate it i hate it. It is now i have a for for which is better later but it's might least favorable in sports. It's even harder when you're not watching the game. I was listening to the game. Like and here comes the for what rugged writer what who i. Maybe we saw michael old man just like can handle a little bit a change but like i'll continue to say the same thing i've said since they introduced this rule who watches a three and a half hour baseball game gets to the tenth inning in his then board. It just it's impossible. Are we got to move this thing along now right now. That the games on the line. Let's go tied in the tenth. Who's like i. We gotta get outta here if you wanna put a runner on second base to start in ending do it in the fifth. Feel free to do it for the person who's like. Yeah got an hour and a half in me and now i'm getting bored. Okay inject something into the game. Yeah they're on a happy ending. Honestly that would bother me. Let's tricked out silly. You want to start her out. Okay we're gonna put a brand second basically starter fine. Put them there. The tenth inning. The game is now like it's gotten great. It's all the pressure all the drama. And instead you're gonna trick it out with some guy at second base. What's anyway i completely forgot. He was there the they drive. It was like to give ruins. What it legitimately wasn't until the mariners came up in the bottom of the tenth. And the tea's like jack mayfield will start at second why. Oh oh. that's what happened so yeah got it. That's why they gave and because when they gave up the run game. They're not going to score on. But the as didn't really deserve you don't even have to manufacturer. Just put a guy on second montana sac. Fly games title. It is a single by the way. Look credit to manny acta there Big hold on fran. Yeah sent the guy earlier on tony. Kemp's terrible arm like pretty pretty. I don. I says we don't talk. Much about act is pretty good or bars. Little postgame talking about that saying. Can you recall a single time that you've questioned maniac sanders..

"Hall of fame coach of michigan state among our guests today and our football crew is ready to go grouse. Jeff and greg ready to talk about last night's monday night meeting between seattle and philadelphia as we get thing rolling here right now seahawks on the road carson wentz and the eagles the center of so much discussion opening drive of the game. Could they silence some of the critics <hes>. No they could not this. When i throw richard. Rogers that's incomplete. Next point went looking for greg ward. Eagles would go three and out to start this game without seattle. Having to make a tackle next eagle drive third nate wentz jalen rager went for four phillies first to drive. Second quarter no score. Second and fourteen went on the sideline jalen hurts in the game hurts. I snap complete sean. Jeffrey and then wednesday is coming back in and hurts his going to the bench. Someone will have to explain what that was about next. Play third nate whence back to throw wentz going down hard whence hit repeatedly in this game. That's a loss of six eagles. No first downs on their first five drives later in the second still most scored but russell wilson is doing something about that. They came back cab. Fifty two yards down to the one yard. Line metcalfe playing with a chip on his shoulder against the team that passed on him in the draft a couple of years ago. And then setup vis wilson david moore for the touchdown on the corner and the seahawks take a seven. Nothing lead next seattle drive. Its second goal and they can do it on the ground. Chris carson is back and better than ever bullying way into the end zone for a score and seattle a fourteen. Nothing lead with five minutes left in the hand now. "Uh to win that thing and to go 26 and three the Seahawks when Russell Wilson does not play well, obviously, the Seahawks don't play well. In the last couple of weeks he had has not So the Rams beat the Seahawks in L A. And they are six and three. So that's the rest of the NFC West. What your thoughts there? Well, I thought that they would all be playoff teams. I thought the 40 Niners. I didn't have any way to envision all these injuries. I thought all for the Rams were the one team we just didn't know about. Because they had changed so much of what they do. But their defense is incredibly fast and what they did to Russell yesterday second six times, picking them off twice or Russell. When they get off to the five and I'll start is touchdown to interception ratio is 15 to 3. And then he had that, you know, Sunday night epic overtime game, the one that got moved back because the Raiders had to play earlier out of the Sunday night window. Hey, lost that game, And now he's lost three out of four. You know, he lost in Buffalo. He lost yesterday, The one game he was able to win against the 40 Niners. So the first five TD to interception ratio 15 to 3 the last four It's 4 to 54 touchdowns, five Intercept. I think a big problem. Has been losing their running backs. You lose Chris Carson, you lose Carlos side. Both got hurt in that game. And you know how I got hurt. Celebrating. A, uh, charge down Travis homers a nice player. They brought Alex Collins back, But you know those two guys, they're just especially Carson. It's a lot like what's going out of the 40 Niners during this three game losing streak. If you don't have any running game, and you become one dimensional It's hard. And in Seattle is just not good enough. Defensively. They I think they're gonna get better is to time goes on. But they haven't shown it and I will see what they do in a short week against Arizona, but Arizona's got to travel to them. And then the Rams are just their defense is just incredibly fast. So I think I think all three of these teams will make the playoffs. One will win the West. Obviously, the other two will be in the wild card in Um, that's what's disappointing about yesterday. As you noted before the 40 Niners and I, you know, going out of the game. Tried to envision a scenario of the 14 letters could actually win the game. And I told you and Larry and Janice what it would take and you had to be a plus. You know, I couldn't turn the ball over four times you had to protect and You did that? Okay. Wasn't great. Certainly CJ Gardner. Johnson has wrecked the game from the slot. I think you handled their inside guys reasonably well. Cam Jordan didn't wreck the game, but We were so worried about their inside, guys. You just didn't You didn't block the nickel that ask Dante wonder if he's ever heard of a nickel blitzing as much as they did yesterday. But if you would've gotten that game, you'd be a 500 going into the Of I and you would think you know you do you have a chance coming out of it. You still do, but it's tough, but these air These air three good teams and the Cuyler Murray and they're calling it the Hail Murray. And I, you know I thought he played. He's playing differently this year than last year. I think they know they're good. By getting DeAndre Hopkins. The other areas. They've improved their defense. Their defense was dead last in the NFL last year. It's much better this year. Obviously. But, uh, his, uh His accuracy on some throws have been off, but he does make big plays his ability to run I knew he could do that watching him in college, But I didn't think you'd be doing as much because he really is an elite thrower of the ball. There's not a throw he cannot make. He's relying on his legs a little bit more than I thought, but it's fine. And he doesn't really get tagged much because he's so damn fast and he will slide at your feet and he will go out of bounds. And if you got him surrounded, he will just go down and take a sec. So he does. At a young age, she's learned to protect his body. But the play he made yesterday and that was a wild game. Buffalo had a big lead. They came back. He ran in for two and Buffalo hits digs. Josh Alan, does they go ahead and that the play he made going to his left to get away from the SEC for Mario Addison already had him on the ground three times yesterday. I don't know how he got his shoulders square. I mean, you're digging the Aaron Rodgers plays and most of them are rolling to his right. Aaron did have the one rolling to his left when he had chef Janis almost in the same spot in that stadium, the same end zone. Which was incredible in a playoff game, But Tyler's was even Maura like, how did he do that? He ran straight line towards the sideline, somehow got his shoulders squared up to the line of scrimmage enough. So unleash that unbelievable throw, and then you just gotta freak. On the other end DeAndre Hopkins, who jumps with buffaloes, three best defensive backs, the two safeties and today Venus and he comes down with the ball. Just incredible, but I I think we knew because Arizona's in the schedule week one, John, we talked about it in the off season. I thought they'd be a playoff. I thought they could make a 40 Niner type climb. In one year. Now the question is, is Arizona good enough? To win the NFC West this year and not just make it is a wild card. I think, given the other teams in the division, Seattle's defense, they were a little bit better yesterday. Obviously, Wilson's gonna be better than he was yesterday. But unless they can get a little healthier, Jamal Adams has a shoulder injury. Now that they're talking about Whitworth is has got a tourney cl yesterday for the Rams, So he's out for the year. They're they're great left tackle. So how that could be his career? Absolutely. Yeah, That could be the end of that. So they've got some issues, And obviously everything's about staying healthy, but that game yesterday. I mean, look, there's only be five should be five and four. But as you said Hopkins went up among three guys and Got that. And that could change everything for Arizona as far as the division..

"It's really just a plastic divider, its wars, its moors, it says moves anyway, They said that they're gonna go 20% capacity at the Super Bowl Raymond James Stadium February 7th, I believe is the date of the Super Bowl. So the mask it's a whole production. They're saying 65,000 fans would be normal capacity for that stadium for the Super Bowl. They somehow get it upto 75,000, but moved some stuff around. Whatever happens, they're able to get more fans in the stands for us. Operable at the Tampa Stadium. Eso 3rd 20% would be what about 13,000 fans at 65,000 capacity, So maybe 13,000 it's looking like and they said they're monitoring it could go up. It could go down just based on local and state government regulations for what's going to go down in Florida. So all stuff to modern ER, But the 40 Niners are what we're focused on now Sunday Tilt. Against the Seattle Seahawks is here. Thank you. We got a deal, and the deal is Niners and Seahawks afternoon 1 25. Right here on can be are one of 45 and 6 80. Thank you. Russell Wilson. Pete Carroll yesterday spoke more about the 40 Niner offense on then you get a little bit from calcium. And yesterday, Greg Cosell checked in. John Lynch checked in lots to get to regarding the 40 Niners and they may be getting as Mike Mike Azmat Miyoko said yesterday. They may be getting for the first time this year. Years back for a week. Then they lost the week before Jordan Reed Tevin Coleman among those who could return to the Plainfield K. Juan Williams, a guy he should be paying attention to. They did not practice yesterday, but they're saying they could be active for Sunday. We'll let you hear from Kyle Shanahan will poke through some of that little bit of Jermichael. Hasty talk coming. Oppa's well as he's looked pretty damn good in his limited role so far and could get a bigger role on Sunday against Seattle. Also, Seattle makes a trade The Cincinnati Bengals. Have AH have officially announced that Carlos Dunlap to the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have yet to announce. I just watched Pete Carroll's press conference from yesterday and they kept asking him. Can you comment on it? The Bengals have announced that he liked looked to his He looked to his media guy like his, his media handler, and the guy's like, No, You can't say anything that you think I'm not going to Pete Carroll said. He said, I don't want to get balanced for something that was avoidable. He's not trying to get fined for making a comment on a tree that's not official yet. We got a deal. That's a Seattle Hey, Cincinnati. We got a deal. It's for Carlos Dunlap. But he's not playing this weekend. That's the way that's going down on the other side. A little bit of Kyle Shanahan looking to Pete Carroll and him smack in the gum and being all rah rah getting ready for Sunday. That's all coming up. It's a Thursday morning too. You know it happens on Thursdays. I start drinking at noon on the sports leader because Thursday and it's past noon. Thursday.

"So I have seen them do a little bit more. I am curious though. Cuz this is you know off with the personality to Seattle has in the secondary if nikhil Harry can't get going in this game and find some sort of a rhythm against these Corners then you know, I think some of the rookie season struggling the rookie season concerns kind of start to creep into this year for sure. Yeah, if he can't get anything going against whoever's playing cornerback on the the left side then yeah, that would definitely be a concern and if he can't then it's hard to see where sustained offense for the Patriots might come from and that's not saying that the Seahawks defense is good cuz I don't think they are but you you don't generally need some sort of receiving options to score points in this league. Absolutely. All right, the last question here. I wanted to get I'm putting you on the spot a little bit, but I wanted to ask you if there's one player who we don't talk about not the not the Wilsons not DK met cast that are that's on this team that is really shining make one or you think it's kind of an under-the-radar type of player. Not a week one. But God this is really impressive the Seahawks traded for him from the Lions for a fifth-round pick midseason last year and the Seahawks defense was much much better after they acquired him. They they really strong. At the safety position last year. So they they've gone from very bad safety plates quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams, which is really exciting. He had a pretty quiet game on Sunday, but he still an exciting fun playing maybe he'll show up more this coming week. Awesome. So I've been do me a favor and tell people about your database and where they can find it cuz I you just send me the link the other day and it is an awesome job resource. I know a lot of people might not be familiar yet with some of the metrics on there, but they're they're going to be taking over football in terms of how we talk about football. I hope very very soon and if they have not already, so I just tell people what you're doing cuz I think it's amazing that you're giving it away for free that's just ridiculous like BFF charges like $300, you know a year for the same level of content. So it wouldn't tell them where they can find it and what it's all about. You know, so kind of the high-level philosophy is that if you're going to tell people to use better stats as I often do then it's kind of long. To not Point people in the direction of finding those. So so basically the goal is to make these stats laikipia per play or completion percentage over expected things like that more accessible to people who want to be able to look this up and talk about it or put that it in their stories or just learn about their game things like that. So I'm kind of the main one is this statue statue is everything hosted at our bsdm which stands for running backs don't matter. Com slash stats and there's kind of a bunch of different apps where you can look up team's offensive or defensive EPA per play or quarterbacks or past frequency a bunch of stuff like that and people have a lot of people have found that it's useful and it's been great to here and hopefully that makes a very small difference in improving how we talk about the sport absolutely can get less, you know, when the team carries ball twenty times the game there's an x amount of the time or whatever..

"Hawks J diva kisser. Score. Holy smokes, twenty four twenty Cowboys lead. And boy it got quiet. There you go. And here comes a fairytale ending, right? That's it. Brock is going take down can't stop it. Seahawks playoff hopes are gonna end right here in Dallas, Texas. Here's coach Pete Carroll with Brock and Salko sister station, seven ten ESPN this morning brunch. Hammer's coming under a lot of fire today. I kicked I think that's what you guys do. You know, this on the talk show stuff or whatever that that's that's a bunch of garbage. What a terrific football season. We have. This was the second highest going came the history of the franchise. I think come on. And we we ran everybody, and we did not turn the ball. We almost set an all time NFL record for fewest turnovers in the season. That's discipline and tactics approach and all that I get it. Everybody feels bad about it buys a hell a coach. And he does a great job. And he did a great job with our guys throughout the season. And we'll continue to so if I would have time sorry that they feel that way. But we needed to execute better. Wow. You don't hear about Pete Carroll pushback? Very much. You don't hear him cuss like that either? Oh my gosh. Anyway, he said he was not in a football mood up. Saturday's long turn on the TV and watch the ball yesterday. Able to watch ball yesterday or. I did watch the end of the game the kick and all that kind of stuff so few things, but I'm not really watching ball right now. Again, we're your Seahawk station. They performed a lot better this year. I thought they would I thought they go four and twelve and I was gonna be fine with that. I didn't think there'd be any way they returned the playoffs goes wrong about that. And Dallas is probably just the better team. And they're probably a better team going into New Orleans to New Orleans is going to be very tough for anyone to beat them at home. Drew Brees doesn't lose in that dome. And I think whether it was Dallas or Seattle heading that way. Seattle has not fared. Well, even the years where they weren't Super Bowls did not fare. Well, go into New Orleans. There's one storyline seems under talked about to me. And that's the fact that Sebastian Janikowski rips is is hamstring. And that completely changes everything that happens after that point. Now, the thing we have to know about football teams is there are staff members at the professional level their entire. Tire job is to think of contingencies. And worst case scenarios when you see those giant laminated cards that everybody's carrying around. There's a guy that all he does is go. Okay. What if the game is in the fourth quarter, and it's seventeen to thirteen the power goes out. Do we do we kick a field goal or do we go for two? That's all he does writes it down on that card. Laminates it color codes with markers in. So what happens if Russell Wilson gets hurt? And then the back of gets hurt who's third quarterback. And then the power goes. What happens if the center gets hurt? And then the backup center gets hurt who's the third center. So they there's a guy that just obsesses over that all day long. We did not in the Seahawks by we the Seahawks had no backup plan for kicking a field goal or an onside kick. If Sebastian Janikowski went down. He's one of the oldest players in the NFL. He's probably going to the hall of fame as a kicker, which is hard to do. So I'm not doubting ability. He's an old guy. He he injured himself on a field goal attempt. And then you see I don't know if you caught this because it only show for about ten seconds. You had the Australian rules kicker who I'm blanking on his name right now Dixon is that his name. Dickinson, look at Michael Dixon. He tried to kick the ball off a tea with Russell Wilson holding. 'cause he's the holder. So we don't have a backup holder Rossi's tries to kick off the ground for the first time into shanked. Russell Wilson was laughing so hard when he got up look like near you going out there to kick it. It changed every decision point that they had in terms of of standard coaching in the NFL even the last touchdown. We just played normal because there was time on the clock right there normal logic in any other scenario would be to kick the field. It's a to score game, regardless. She would kick the field goal their attempt the on side. And then go for it. They had to go for it. And then go for two which nobody would have gone for two in the history of the NFL. Right. If that wasn't the case, then you have Michael Dixon, who's never kicked an onside kick in his life. Tried to do what it was a sneak attack. Jack play from probably sixty years ago. There was a formation maybe fifty years ago, Donald I remember this because our coach tried to bring it back in high school, if the return team lines up in a very specific set we actually had a kicker on when I played the could do this. I love that you are comparing your high school days to the national football. But there was it was what you do because we're just like them go what you're trying to do. This was the play. They're trying to do. But the other team was ready for because it was an onsite situation by it was a surprise kickoff. If the if the return team has lined up in a specific set, and you have a kicker that can pull it off. They can kick a little pooch kick really high it gives you the fastest guy time to just basically goes down and catches the ball about twenty five yards down the field. Getting Mike Schafer that could do that kick perfectly. I think we pulled it off once in a game in high school veteran the Seahawks or anybody in the National Football League in the last fifty. You ever and expecting it? You have to do when they're not expecting. So do this in high school. Yeah. High school or within know the playoffs on the line. So he has to do a drop kick which again has not been done since Frank Gifford. Did it back in like in the New York football giants in like nineteen sixty works. So it's kind of cool when you have a guy that can come in. And nobody's really bringing that up because the Seahawks actually executed three times in a row on situations where they were a dog the two two point conversions in the going for it on fourth and six the all of those should have not happened. But really the key play to the game was the third and fourteen were Dak Prescott whose first name is river. I didn't realize back Prescott where he Dakota's his middle name. He got third and fourteen on the goal line with a run down that was the place two thousand people surveyed in it seems like this question is being asked right now at what age should you have your quarterback fronts? I say twenty nine what age should you have fallen in love with the one. Thirty one what age should your career path be established thirty nine again out of two thousand survey, takers. It seemed thirty nine magic number by thirty nine the average person should have their career their love life and their social relationships all in order a lot of trouble here of the those surveyed forty four percent said they didn't think they'd ever have their lives completely sorted with a quarter admitting that their love life is completely disastrous it with almost three-quarters said they spent more time thinking about trying to sort their lives that actually sorting their lives for sixty percent of its their career. That's providing the biggest stumbling block what say you're on. You're supposed to have this all figured out by thirty nine. I think this these surveys at more misery than help. Oh, they do. Okay. I think it's totally accurate. Every person is different. Might think you have it sorted at twenty nine. And then by the time, you're forty nine an idiot when I was twenty nine I didn't know anything. Daddy. Why did you what did you think? This is more. Did you did you think? Think for men and women are just for men because it seemed like it was they talked to a dating coach Derek Johnson. I didn't have time to play that. And they said a lot of men will wait to settle down their forties and fifties. And then a gift some reasons why. So I think we started talking about your spending habits if you are having kids or not those are big life decisions. And you should know that by the time, you're out of your twenties. I think thirty nine is. Right. Well, that's because you fall in love and you're gonna love like seventeen years ago. Yep. My boy toy sticks around your nineteen years old. So that's incredible. Thank you. Coming up tonight. Tracy Taylor has a story. What's a story? You're sure. Well, you talk to a woman who was at one point looking at Airbnb is and renting though is during well Airbnb aren't that easy to come by? And there are a little expensive. We'll talk to her and get her story coming up here in about seven minutes. Let's talk about the drive because it is busy for those of you heading southbound.

"I supposed to not much supposed to be all nervous, and my sister, choke because when you understood another football game when you've been there as often as Russell Wilson has for example, you know, what's it steak? You know, what it's like to lose. And you've been there, and you've done that so many times that, you know, you're well versed in it. I think there's something to that. I ever Tate in a good way that's working towards the Cowboys benefit. I think somebody who does know the pains of that though is certainly Jason Garrett, and sort of my closing thought is I think if the Cowboys win the game will be so big for his legacy with the Cowboys if they win I mean, I think GARRETT'S already safe at least for twenty nineteen, but I do believe that he'll have a lot more supporters. I mean, everything he's done this season bouncing back from three and five seven to one winning the division. If you had a playoff onto that especially over the Seahawks hump the Cowboys. Been able to get over. I think that would be huge just has this flavor. This has feeling of what they've done to overcome so much and the way they started off three and five and they want to last what eight eight out of nine games or and so that's pretty remarkable in the capital if they can win the first playoff game at home and just kind of sets up to a hell of story. And I think we talk about these players love and Jason Gary. I mean, this is a great game to show how much you love the guy by going after him Bolland and get your first playoff game. I like it went. I like, you know, like this game. It's going to be a lot of fun. We'll be back on Monday to the Cowboys play on Saturday to recap. What is hopefully a win? And hopefully getting ready for the division around fingers crossed. Tony enjoy your weekend. Hopefully, the Toronto Raptors by five hundred points on. And we'll see what happens Tony enjoy your weekend. Enjoy the game. And any last thoughts are brother joy. That's a good one. Thanks guys for listening. We'll see you next time. "And I understand your point. The point is is that you know, that they're going to try to run the football. When you look the stats and to me, that's probably sounds a little easier. But the problem is is that when you look at the Seahawks is that as we mentioned Russell Wilson is such a viable runner. But. The saints are more explosive. You know, that's the thing about the Seahawks. They just gonna keep chip on chip and chip and they're not attainment scores Tana points. But there attain the likes the possession and possessions touchdowns with possession is a key. I mean, we can look at Dallas their biggest probably issue. This year's been. Yeah. They may have the possession. But are they actually taken full advantage of what they don't drive say getting the red zone and not scorn now this month right here on the other hand are able to execute. And and yeah, I I'll buy that by that you have to respect Russell Wilson more than you. Do drew Brees because these adult threat. Yeah. You never can get comfortable because he's always going to take off. And he's always going to do something that you're not prepared for or the match doesn't warrant an opportunity to make a play in not that this is easy, but you can to a degree crash the pocket and just reek havoc. And you know that stifles drew Brees we saw that team played. And so do that to Russell Wilson. And he's he will kill you. I mean, he's I've never done this. I don't know if you have he's trying to wrestle alligators. Have you ever done that before? No, no. I haven't even thought about that. I've heard about those people. But I think a couple of them are no longer with us. That's true. It looks it looks difficult. But so okay. So we we acknowledged, you know, this difficult hilas task. You know, what the Seahawks colors kinda look like alligator skin? You know, like just that sort of Topi greenish. You know what I mean? Obviously, the librarian the one that reminded me of that piece soup. Oh my gosh. Look worse than the Oregon ducks uniform kinda similar how do you do? You miss the old Seahawks uniform because I do the old kind of kind of close to the Cowboys ones time with the silver and the blue with the splash green. I. Those I like those, but I'm kind of an old guy wanting to stay young. So was it. Oh guy. Do he likes to likes trendy things? I I like a combination. I like the new stuff that's kind of not your forte. Is you know, I love the Detroit Lions uniforms came here and just a horrible with the live green. It's kinda hard to look at. That's that's very it's not good for TV. What's your favorite uniform that you haven't put on of all the ones you did? And I'm talking to your favorite your favorite color. Whether it was the wider, the navy, and whatever it was. I'm going to say the. When I was certainly with the Dallas Cowboys. I I like the blue away jersey sokaia, I never got the really the throwback the white. You know, how they do it? Now why excuse me dark bottoms and why I think white white jerseys. I think. But I I would say I really I was more. I was more biased. I I like the darker color because. It may be it made me look more chiseled grad. I can't even pronounce chisel swell. That's even possible for me. Because I I was a guy that really did have much definition when it come to the camp to the contour my body. But yeah, just like black and makes you mix you look Lehner and Maynard pay. Whatever that maybe this will amaze me, though, Tony is you're saying your favorite jersey ever. Put on was the Cowboys road blues whatever to crimson. When I was when I was in college there's something about putting that crimson on..
