"Yeah, win the series. They gave up four in the ninth, shook it right off and came back out on the bottom of the ninth and won it. Good for them. And in front of another sparse crowd. How many announced? Well, I told you yesterday, there's it's always going to be a minimum of like 19 for I think is the minimum that'll be that'll always be the paid. Let's see, what was it? Let's see. Quick, efforting music. Let me go find it. Hold on. I know exactly where to find it, but I got to find it. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. When he's got his eye on the ball, he's got his eye ball. I hope they reshoe him because when he loses his grip with old shoes. It's not good. Seabiscuit is Connor Seabold on the mound for the Rockies tonight against Mighty Mac Scherzer. That is a four down territory. We're having some fun today, as always, on a Friday. Your dream of 100 Rockies losses seems to be fading away. Cash, doesn't it? Yep. But that's OK. The guy can dream. I can still dream. Look, this team's easily got an 11 game losing streak in them easily. But hey, now with Seabiscuit on the mound, but already this season has been a success because the fans are making a statement. And the fans are staying away. Right now, we'll see if that continues. Once school's out and the weather really warms up. But at least for now. Fans are staying away and they're sending a message that this product stinks. We'll see if it continues and we'll see if they do anything about it. They'll have good crowds this weekend. Mets in town. They should be. This should be where the Mets in the standings. Mets still underachieving, are they? Mets just seem to spend a lot of money and not get the results they're looking for. Rodgers, same way, right? Yeah. Actually, Dick Monfer right now looking. No, that's not. No, you're right. Let's not let's not let's not do that. Yeah, the Mets right now are in second place. Yes, 26 and 25, 500 team. Some more. Is it just me's? Is it just me? Or how can you not be struck by Sean Payton's reaction to Russell Wilson as compared to Nathaniel Hackett's over the top reactions? Yeah, I mean, come on, Russell Wilson's in a prove it. You got to prove it mode. And. You know, Sean is Sean is just, you know, say, hey, you got to do the things that we need to do to be successful. All right. I think is there anything you can point to? Anything like you could look at this, this entire hiring process in this offseason so far and everything Sean's done, is there anything that you could look at and say, well, I think that's a mistake. Boy, I don't like that. Honestly, is there anything you could look at that he has done that you thought I don't like that? I know you I know a lot don't like the lack of access, but isn't that the isn't that what this team needed more than anything? Yeah, is it really that big of a deal that besides with the way the Nuggets are playing right now, the Nuggets are the story. Even if the Broncos were giving us all the access in the world, it. It wouldn't be what people are talking about. No, you're right. But for me, I think it's real. It's nice to not have to flip open the phone and see, look at my workout with chains or look at my, you know, look at me destroy these pylons or. Well, if you if you can tell me and this is where I'm going to lean on your experience, if you can tell me that doing all this. More anonymous donors. Less media access. Less brand building, all the stuff that we've watched, and there's been unbelievable transparency and access to the Broncos over the last six, seven years, unbelievable, more than I can ever recall in the time I've been here. If you can tell me that what he's doing over there matters when it comes to winning games in the fall, then I'm all for it. I guess I'm kind of skeptical as to how much of a difference it really makes. You say it makes a lot. Well, let me ask you this. Do you think it lends itself to guys? Understanding better than they've understood the last seven years, what it takes to win the commitment that you have to have the anonymous donning, the the work ethic, the, you know, doing this for for my teammates, as opposed to social media posts. Do you think that that has an effect on culture and professionalism? Let's just say it's a small even if it's a small piece, does it affect the way guys feel about what they have to accomplish at work? I don't know. Like, I covered your teams back to back championships, OK? We were in your locker room for an hour every single day for you guys went out to practice. Ed McCaffrey was, you know, selling mustard. Terrell was doing commercials. Well, let me ask you this. Were you there in the were you at our offseason training? And I know the training was different back then. Yeah, it was different. But we're there for all the training camp practices. And, you know, talking to you guys before practices, after practices. I mean, there was all kind of I mean, we had access to you and you guys just went on dispensed justice. Yeah, but, you know, we didn't have. Social media feeds and we didn't have opportunities to make that we didn't have very many opportunities, if you guys had opportunities, but we didn't have a ton of opportunities to go out and make extra money and go out and be a celebrity and go out and do all that stuff. There was a different there was a different level. You know, Romo and Shannon were doing all their EAS stuff. Right. But there was a different level of professionalism. There was less distraction. And it was in the Good Times Burger Uffit. Was he in the Good Times Burger? You know, he never eat a burger either. You all talk about false advertising. Remember, wasn't it? Yes. Shannon did the Good Times. I think you're right. It was like a it was like a Good Times Burger Uffit. You know, he took a like he was like Grimace. He took a bite of the onion ring. That's good. And then he spit it out. You know, you know, he would never put something like that in his body. I love Good Times. No, Good Times is great. No, Shannon thing. This is Shannon. That dude would eat buckwheat pancakes or wheat pancakes without without like no syrup. No, he wouldn't put any syrup or butter on a pancake. Heavens to Murgatroyd. He still does that today. Oh, dude, I don't know how he would you think at some point? All right. I did it most disciplined. Pennsylvania Mike writes in, is it just me? Or I swear, I heard after the Celtics won last night on Sports Center, Boston wins again. But first, would the heat be in this situation if LeBron was still in Miami? It's a good take. Yeah, that's how you spin it with the heat. I could just see ESPN. I just look over my shoulder. I wouldn't shock me in the least. Would the heat be in the situation if LeBron never left South Beach? Yeah, LeBron never left. He left and went to go back to Cleveland. Yeah. Then he went to L .A. from Cleveland. Yes. My goodness. LeBron Center, LeBron Center. Let's see, let's see, let's see. Interesting take by you, Evans. You're not necessarily upset by the lack of access to the team, but lack of content to speak about for your job. No, I haven't been. I haven't been. No, you've been good. I haven't been bothered by it. You've been good. I mean, would I rather have content to talk about in the spring or games wins to talk about in the fall? Right. Please. We've won plenty of off seasons around here. They've got some going on in ESPN right now. Can Sean Payton help Russell Wilson bounce back in twenty, twenty three? Let's run over sixteen point nine points per game last season, last in the NFL. Let's run. I will round it up. 17 points per game. The Denver Broncos this year, Mark, will average blank points per game. Twenty four full touchdown per game. Yeah, look at that picture of Russ, by the way, is he got like a muffin top hanging over his pants? A little Dunlap right there. That is Broncos country. Let's run. Wow. That is either one big rib pad. Or that is a jelly roll right there. Looks like he went to make ribs. It does look skinnier. This looks great. Yeah, it looks really looks great. And we were all saying at the end of last season, hey, this is this is going to be your most crucial off season of your career. And the first thing you got to do is get in better shape. All right. He's done that. What's trending coming up? All more of the freezing cold takes. Did you say he's Dunlap? Yeah, that Dunlap over his belt. No, you say Dunlap. No, he's done that. He's done that. He's done Dunlap and then done that. OK, they say he's Dunlap. They were calling him. What's the matter with you? You're tired. You need to you need the weekend. I just want to know why you hate Russell. I don't. I love Russ. I love Russ. Let's try him. Hey, that's right. He named him Dunlap. It's spicy. More freezing cold takes regarding the nuggets next. Here's Shlarith and Evans with what's trending right now. Get a chance to play some of Jamal Murray's interview with Richard Jefferson as we wait to see who the Nuggets play in the NBA Finals. Murray talking about when he knew that long comeback from that knee injury, when he was good. I think it was a little check marks during the season that happened. I wasn't any specific moment. It was just every month felt better than it did. And it was like that since I got hurt. So I just knew if I stayed on top of my routine, my rehab, I'll be black, be back playing. And I just I am now. I wouldn't worry. No, no, no, I didn't mind. So it was just every month I continue to see improvement. I want to see more of this. I just stayed on, stayed on track. You know, I never recall a real backlash. Correct me if I'm wrong. And we were here doing it. But I don't recall a huge backlash against Murray for not playing in the playoffs last year. Correct? I mean, there were questions raised. Yeah. But but you and I had talked about this a bunch. The Nuggets did him no favors because they said, oh, he's cleared to play. And then it became, well, he should be playing. You know, there was some of that going on. But then I thought, I think overall people kind of started to understand that he just wasn't he wasn't quite ready. And the Nuggets really didn't. I mean, there was some there was there was some behind the scenes vitriol over how that was handled. Rightfully so. I understand why. So. He did the right thing, then. Right. Is this what we're seeing now in the season he's had? Is this is this validation that he did the right thing? Or, hey, he could have come back last year and played in the playoffs or tried to play in the playoffs last year. And we still would be seeing this this year. Gable and Skog. Now. Hey, it was a championship run and I get it. It was great last year for this team with a, you know, Jamal Murray, who's not 100 percent, who's maybe 80 percent. Whatever it is, they don't want a championship last year. And then you're out for two years. Like, I think he played it. I think he played it right because it's worked out, obviously, you know, hindsight being 20, 20, but it was right for him at the time. And yeah, it took a long time. So if we want a championship, so what? So we've been having fun this week playing freezing cold takes from NBA people who said things during the course of the season that look really foolish now. Here is Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix. I will tell you right now, the Lakers are going to win the Western Conference. Wow. That is my prediction to you today. OK, they will win the Western Conference. Yeah. So but it was the greatest performance in a sweep in the history of the NBA. So apparently Chris Mannix still feeling a little butthurt, a little defensive about how foolish he looked because he doubled down on his anti -nugget take with this. The card the Nuggets can play is nobody talks about us. Nobody, you know, spends airtime discussing us, column inches writing about us, because frankly, the Nuggets aren't very interesting. Like Nikola Jokic is arguably the best player in the game right now, but he's not someone that does a lot of interviews outside of the NBA mandated stuff. You're not going to see a lot of profiles on Nikola Jokic. Jamal Murray, great player, not especially interesting. Michael Porter Jr., excellent player, not especially interesting, at least not compared to what we have at the bottom of the playoff bracket, where you've got drama in Los Angeles almost weekly. You've got the Suns. Can they succeed in this first year with Kevin Durant, the Warriors, all their dysfunction this year, the Clippers, can they get it together? The Nuggets problem is they're not respected. They're just not talked about. People just don't find them as interesting as some of the teams on the bottom half of the bracket. All right, Poza, thank you. So this is where we're at now. The only things that are interesting is if it's a train wreck, if there's drama, if there's dysfunction, if it's the Real Housewives meet the Kardashians, that's the only thing that's compelling in our lives right anymore. It's not interesting because you guys haven't dug into it. Like the trip across wherever they have to go to to get to Serbia. Sambor. Nikola Jokic, Nikola Jokic, who spends his off seasons on a horse farm riding around in a chariot isn't interesting. No, no, that's not good video. Huh? Murray coming back from a knee injury, which he was criticized for not playing last year in the playoffs. It's not interesting because you guys don't know anything about it because you haven't followed any of it. I mean, but again, you know, whatever. Man, I know I'm. I'm not a journalist anymore. You know, we're talk shows, we get we get we get the benefit of coming on and blabbering about sports or whatever. Right. But man, I I come from a journalistic background and I look around at times at what's going on in our industry and weep. You know, you know what makes good stories? Was that digging and good storytelling? That's what makes good stories. Dual digging, talk to people, talk to people about the people. Right. And you and you know what you do when it's all said and done. Right. And tell a good story. Do that and it'll become compelling. Right. But it's not fun because there's not enough. This team likes each other. Boring. This team plays well. They play good team basketball. Yeah. And they pass a lot. Oh, the humanity. Yeah. How are we going to make the extra pass? Exciting. Interesting. There's no drama in that. Where's the dysfunction? How about in swinging the ball around to get a high percentage shot? How about the drama of Jokic putting his shoulder in? What's the guy's name? Deandre Aiden, Deandre Aiden to the point. Deandre Aiden taps out of a six game of the playoffs. That is what is trending. More freezing cold takes coming up. Having fun with that right up until game one in the NBA finals. It is an Is It Just Me Friday. We always get loose in this next segment on a Friday. That's next. Loosen up those joints and muscles. It's time for your 745 stretch. Here's Shleret and Evans with the biggest story in Denver sports. Here we go. Is It Just Me Friday? We got the Denver sports front page coming up at eight o 'clock. Mark, you absolutely nailed without knowing it. Absolutely nailed the subject of this week's column that I wrote. You're going to love the subject of my column. I wrote a blog. OK. All right. We'll talk about that. But first, guys, I've been enjoying you playing these freezing cold takes from NBA media, having to backtrack. So basically, the media is saying, yeah, we didn't do our job. So now we're going to blame the Nuggets, Dave and Parker. Yeah, there is kind of a there is an element of that. Like, we made these bold statements. We dismissed this team because we hadn't really paid attention to them. So we really didn't know. And we figured they'd go away. So why invest? Right. And whenever anybody annoyingly brought them to our attention, we just slapped them aside. Mm hmm. They'll go away. But now that they're here. Now they're defensive. Mike, it was very much that way. Super Bowl 50 was very much that way. Yes. You and I are in San Francisco doing the radio show. Let me take it from here. So Mark's doing Mark's a big deal. Mark's doing his radio tour. And I just kind of be bopping along following along. I got nothing to do. I'm just so I'm just like kind of a big deal. Hanging out as he's going on all these different stations. People know me. And everybody is picking Carolina to win. Everybody is picking the Panthers and the MVP and this, that and the other. Go ahead. And after about like six of these things, we look at each other and they're like, they don't know. Right. They don't realize they haven't paid attention. They don't realize what's going to happen on Sunday. Right. Oh, no. Seriously, we were like in genuine amazement, like they don't know. They were like they were like all these radio hosts were. Is so. Is it patronizing when they tap you on the head? Yeah, yeah. Like. Well, now, wait a minute, what's the difference between when you. Oh, I know you're going. Don't you patronize or condescending? No, no, no. Like I get the two confused sometimes. No, no, no. Like when you. Can you patronize a restaurant like a restaurant? Yes. Is it the same? I think that's more. You know, I think it's or is it patronize? It's patronize when you're condescending, like you're like, well, it's OK, little fella. Or is that patronize that was patronize that patronize was maybe. Oh, boy. Are they both the same patronize and patronize? But maybe they're saying something made of tomato. I know. don't Oh, oh. Are they spelt the same? Is it like pear and pear and pear? Dabber up, dabber down? I don't know. Anyhow, they were patronizing or patronize, patronizing, patronizing. You just tap me on the head like, oh, you're you you're from Denver. You play for the Bronx. You got it. And I'm going, no, no, no, no. The problems are going to kick their ass. And they're like, no, OK, yeah, little fella. You're right. OK. And it was like it was like you guys don't realize. I know you haven't watched the Broncos play, but you don't realize what's about to happen when this defense gets a hold of you. And sure enough, it went. I mean, I've never been more confident in a game than that game. I knew that game was it was going to be lopsided. I know. I know. So more freezing cold takes Colin Cowhert. Actually, this is new. Your boy, Colin, says Denver needs to lean in to embrace being boring. Denver's built to win. They're young. They're ascending. They've got one of the great players in the league, maybe all time at center. He's that good shooting, passing, dribbling, screening, IQ. Jokic is everything. Sometimes in our business, dysfunctional can be wildly compelling. Really, really compelling. Again, that's the business we're in. Shaq and Kobe's dynasty was dynamic. The Heedles dynamic, the Pistons physical bullies, the Nuggets. If they become a dynasty, they're efficient. Jokic's jersey is the 12th biggest seller in the league behind lamello ball at 11. This is much more Daniel Day -Lewis than Tom Cruise. It is not succession. It will not be Game of Thrones. And if I was Denver, I would lean into it. He's not Colin's not wrong. No, he's not wrong about what sells. Mm hmm. But what sells is wrong. Yes, but it is what sell. I mean, look at look at the. You know, I've I've sold like five reality shows or four reality shows. And had pilots made on three or four of them. You know, the ultimate the ultimate issue was. Not salacious enough. Don't have a sex tape. Got to have one of those. I mean, it's just it's insane. But that's what people watch. They want to watch a Mark Schlerer sex tape. Well. Well, well. Oh, about Chicago, come on. Don't think I haven't noticed you notice. All right. I'm noticed. Every now and again, you're looking over here. Man, I wish you were shirtless. Oh, all right. Continue. Mm hmm. But it is it is what drives television, television ratings. They want the drama they want. You know, they want the market, the drama. They want all that stuff. So, yeah, I get it. And Denver, frankly, Collins, right? I mean, Denver has leaned into it. Everything that Michael Malone says is about. You know, he's talking about Joker and the MVP. If you want to vote for him, be that's fine, but don't like that's fine. And Beat is a good player, a really good player. You know, that's that's great. But but don't vote for him. And at the same time, you know, cut the legs out, cut your knees, right? Don't you don't you don't make any progress by diminishing what the Joker's done so you can vote for somebody else. It's it's not that way or shouldn't be that way. But it's been that way with the Nuggets. And a lot of that is because, frankly, the people who cover this game on a national basis have not really dug deep into the Nuggets. They haven't because they figured they'd lose. They thought they'd lose against Phoenix. Everybody had that. Everybody had Phoenix pick the sons picked. And they wouldn't have to do their homework. They wouldn't have to dig deep. They wouldn't have to really, you know, have an opinion or really watch. I think there are a lot of fascinating stories on this Nuggets team. Of course you do. If you. Take the time to dig a little deeper and do good reporting and good storytelling. But that's the problem. I think a lot of people in our business. They're not equipped to be in this business, but they're in this business. Well, and they don't know how to investigate. They don't know how to dig. They don't know how to craft a good story. And so they just lean on, well, the dysfunction will sell itself. Here's the drama. Well, so sell itself and make my job easier. Here's what here's something that I haven't heard that would be fascinating to me. If you were a good reporter. KCP won a championship with the Lakers. It was a bubble championship, but he won a championship. So you've won a NBA championship with the team you just ousted in a sweep. Parent contrast, what makes a championship team? What like I'd like to know what like I'd like to know. What about this Nuggets team? Is worthy championship from the opinion of a guy who's won a championship? Why would it be fascinating to like the compare and contrast the Lakers when they won a championship to what the Nuggets are right now? Like there's there are compelling stories in there. You just have to think again. You got to dig a little bit. Yeah, you got to put the work in. And a lot of people in our business don't want to put the work in. Pierce from Minnesota, Minnesota. Is it just me or Nuggets Nation should want the Celtics to be the first team to come back from 3 -0 in a series just to be beaten by the Nuggets to sweep the Lakers and then beat the East most prestigious organization to get your first banner would be the ultimate dream? Your first banner is your first banner. That's the better story, the better storyline. I tend to watching that game last night, think the better matchup based on the way those two teams play and just based on the. Overall talent depth of both teams, I think. The Nuggets just will wax the heat. I do, too. Just I think it'll be just like, no, no, I don't see it. OK, yeah, I don't. I don't either. I don't either. The only reason the heat will win the series is because the Celtics lost the series. Right. The Celtics are the better team. They've they've correct. They've been the better team since the start of the series. But they've whizzed down their leg. And now they're trying to. Pull the ultimate rabbit out of the hat. They might do it, but if they don't do it, it'll ultimately because they. Spit the bit, right? They'll have no way to blame but themselves. Mm hmm. Yeah, I'm more and more convinced the Nuggets will wax Miami. yes, Like, like sweep them. What's the dude's name for them? He's six, nine, bam, bam, out of bio, out of bio. Yeah. I just was like, that dude will be broken by game three. He would like to have a case of eight and I just. Yeah, you think eight and tapped out of game six, like, I don't want to do it anymore. I don't want to do it anymore. That day, a band may be athletic at six, nine, but he's he'll have a rib. You'll have a rib contusion. He'll go. He'll go. So bonus on them. Well, it's a bonus to get the fake chest step. Got an MRI or something. Gosh, the level of sissitude. Sissitude, that's a new one. Yeah, it just was sissitude between him and A .D. We got the all Timmy team. So so so if they end up playing the Celtics. Uh huh. All right. So the Nuggets opponent. All ugly team. Yeah. Kyle Anderson, Minnesota. Yes, he got some Timmy look to him. Landry Shammet, Shammet. Derek White. It's a tough one to see you guy. Yeah. Who who who's the guy from the Lakers? Oh, who's on the Anthony Davis? All of that brow, that brow, man, that brow is that brow is legit, man. That is a brow. That is that is a brow. Yeah, I could I could see you go in that direction. I have to look at the rest of the roster and see if there's a real. But the guy's got to play a lot. You know, it can't be some. Yeah, it can't be some bench troll. Right. Right. Right. Right. Yeah, so far, Anthony Davis is the leader in the clubhouse and the all ugly L .A. team. Read an article that said the Celtics are tired of fake liking each other. Well, there have been plenty of great, great sports teams, great teams that couldn't stand each other. But they put all that aside between the white lines, a lot of baseball teams. Yeah, like a lot of those Yankee teams of the 70s and 80s, 70s, mainly couldn't stand each other. Yeah, I'm sure there are a lot of guys that you don't get along with every guy on your team, especially, you know, when you're talking about a football team that has 53 dudes. You know, I can get along with everybody, but so long as you respect their game and how hard they work and how hard they prepare. And then you're you're right. You're good with that. This is Rich coming from the All Ugly Show on the station. Excuse me. Excuse me. Who wrote that? Have you seen our have you seen our glamour shots? Have you seen our headshots? Are you kidding me? The All Ugly Show. We eat the lens, man. Come on. Who is better looking than our show? Yeah. Maybe the show right after maybe with Nate and Nate Chad Brown. But Orlando brings it down a little bit. I call him ugly. I'm just saying he's not as handsome as those two. Oh, well, no. I mean, who's who's better looking than Nate Jackson? Are you kidding me? Chad Brown and Chad, too. Yeah, Chad. No, that's definitely the handsomest show on that. I would give that I'd give that the number one handsome show. Then. Come on, Stokely and Zach. No. Yeah, exactly. So we're but it would go they go Players Club, then us, us, then Stokely and Zach. Yeah. And then. Wolf and the Troll. Come on, come on, come on, man. Come on. And then I would go, I mean, don't you think? Even I think that's mean. I mean, what's the show's called? I did. It was just like, is it just is it is what it is? I just had the wrong name of the show. Oh, OK. Oh, the drive. The drive. Yes, it's drive. Yeah. You're amazing. You're amazing. Hey, when you've struck out, the bases are loaded. You need a break from the game. Bath Fitter can install your tub or shower in just one day. And just like playing catch, Bath Fitter is there to offer watertight, seamless wall.
