"Yeah. How much? 91. 91 minutes. This is very on brand for me. But this is certainly been one of the more enjoyable. Like it's cool when I start talking you guys all like perk up and listen. It's just kind of cool. Sometimes you just get the question and it's just like, all right, well, do I want to give this guy the goods or do I want to just give him the run around? We're obsessed with this shit, man. Yeah, no, I know. I'm trying to learn from you too. Awesome. Yeah, I know it's cool, right? I'm trying to dumb it down as best as I can. Thank you. Not because of who you guys are, but because of me, I can talk about the shit all day. I can talk in circles about this stuff. I confuse myself sometimes. I remember, so I have had one lesson in my life. But I was on the range and I was playing with a couple guys who were really good. And he saw me and I think I was like tug interviews. He's like, oh, you just got to strengthen your grip. So I literally just gripped the thing tighter. And I thought that was it. As hard as you could hold this one. So that's the level you're talking to in terms of what we know about this way. No, that's a thing. I was struggling Thursday at sea island, missing everything short and right. We can write we can write and yes, there is a way to fix it more dynamically, but in the middle of a golf trim and it's probably not gonna work. So I did I strengthen my grip. And for 9 holes, I played grade, and then Al didn't tell me there was out of bounds and we're passing the past that right. I love the 5th reference. Be better. Well, I want to give a hug. I'll need it. I thought I'd be easier to work for something. Turns out, not easy. Body size is he big? He's smaller. Oh boy. Tough. Smaller, but I can say with certainty he is smarter. Okay. Oh, so. It must be very intelligent because you're a smart guy. I have my moments. It's big of you to say too after you missed that out of bounds. But boy, that read the balls on him for the read at the crazy. That's also awesome. Too. It's like, that's the biggest part of your life I assume. Well, and I was like, fuck, I preach all the time like just make a fucking decision. Let's just decide. Right. And I was like, yeah, I go with him, just in case he's wrong. You said, man, man, you want to shoot it. Everything I said, you are sick and twisted, man. But I made it. Go into a castle, baby. It's all good. It was right, I made it cool. People I wanted to kiss him. I was like, in that moment, was like, wow, dude. That was his evolution because he'd been just over a year. It's like, holy shit, he I could not. If it was me and I would have clam up. If I had asked him that at the revolvers, no chance I say that. Have the stones to say that. Yeah. Other side break. That's right. And there was no little gulp in his throat. Like he said it with fucking with and he has some gulp when I hit him offline. Four gets him. He gets voice cracks on for all the fucking hilarious. Really?.

"They are so fun. We're gonna not play the fucking masters. It's beautiful. That's a good point. You might like it. It did. And I guess, but then those wins together, I feel like the lows would be lower, but the highs would be even higher. The highs, yeah, I was still waiting on our first win. The highs, I mean, that we celebrated that kiowa finish obviously and then getting into August appropriately. Not a little different. Yeah. And then like the lows, yeah, sure. I mean, we were both at irritated. I mean, he doesn't. He doesn't like when I play poorly any more or less than I do. He's there for a reason. He wants me to achieve my goals and dreams. The loves just don't last that long. I mean, we just we needed like 8 holes and a little bit of a breather just like, hey man, I've told you this is like I need to know these things. And you know I need to know these things, but it is on his defense. That's something that you have in a very quick moment 'cause I was teeing off first, the whole thing, and I was vibing. We were feeling good. I was hitting some decent shots. Like he has to decide in like three seconds, what to say to me. So that's hard as shit. Right. And yeah, and I'm clearly sold on driver. I'm like, no, I'm starting this thing out over that water. Right up on the front. Oh yeah. How far? No, not seaside plantation, that's sea island. I didn't throw it far. I got I walked up to my provisional. I saw my driver in my hand. And I was walking up to my provisional and I was about 20 yards from it and we had like I was steaming that my golf ball that I could just walk over there and play is out of bounds..

"So do you get are you a big music guy across the board? Is it just music? It's a big part of my life. I'm not great. My parents kind of fucked me. 'cause I know I would have been good at anything I did, but they didn't really place musical stuff in front of me. It was sports, but I know, I have it in me to be a frontman, but they didn't offer that for me. So they get the tour and said, you know, unbelievable. That is interesting to think about that, right? Like your brain was probably wired in a way for you to be obsessed with. I was going to be about some for sure. How did you know that you were going to be good at golf? What clicked? In high school I played everything. I was pretty good at everything, basketball. Man, if I were to fight, like, I'm 6 foot, if I had like three more inches and gave everything I had in the basketball, like I did golf. At a certain point, maybe things are baseball. Maybe things would have been different, but I'm just one of those guys that I know there was no backup plan for anything. It was going to be a tour. This is just going to work. This is going to work. Yes. Talking about it. Maybe. I hate that word cockiness. Or arrogance. I would say confidence. Yes. But I think cockiness in a good way, right? Yeah. Most successful people tell that same story where they say there was no backup plan. If you had said, oh, if I don't do this, I'm going to be I'm going to sell insurance or something. It doesn't work that way. You just have to say, I'm going to make this work. I'm going to play golf professionally. And there is no other option. So it's only option is success. And it sounds like that's what you did. Kind of, yeah. Now it is. Like, you know, in the box, in high school, they'd bring in a speaker and it'd be like, how many y'all think you're gonna play a professional sport? People raise their hand and be like, well, what if I told you less than whatever percent and then I would be sitting there and I'd be like, man, fuck this guy. Come on. You're like wrong. See, that's the confidence that you remember. You're speaking. Right. You're that guy was just, he was just a part of the statistics that didn't make it. Now he's walking around saying how beautiful don't have the chance. Yeah. Shit, man. Poor basket. So when's when's the first TV gig coming up soon? So sea island. It's in a couple of weeks. I'm doing that. And then I'm doing the father son of it, which is right before Christmas, I believe. It's like the guys who are in the Hall of Fame and their kids. That'll be interesting. Sea island is that'll be easy for me. I've played that course a million times. I.

"Wanting to know that Khun Come someplace Um Nobody can go anyplace and really forget about this pandemic, Belinda, but Uh, perhaps you could go some place to take your mind off it or maybe not make it so much. Your primary focus like it has been for for many folks, and that's what our team is trying to achieve at this point in time. We're trying to convey to our guests and members that we've got you when you come here. We've got you. We've got all the safety protocols in place. We want you to have fun. We'll do it in a different way right now. But we want you to have fun and enjoy yourselves. And our team has embraced that. Ah and and is frankly delivering on that for all of our our guests. You know, Scott, when we were in our public areas, we wore our masked and and socially distance and it was not a problem. I didn't feel like I was, um I didn't feel like I did. When I was in Atlanta. It had a different feel to it still had a vacation vibe to it on DH. When we were outdoors at the beach, you know it could take off the mask. When we were at the pool relaxing, we could take off the mask and and just relax a little bit. When we were doing our outdoor activities. It was a little more relaxed and you guys did such a wonderful job of of mixing the two and keeping everybody really safe here in the pandemic. And making us feel safe, and your staff did a wonderful job of Of treating us like they really cared about our health and our safety and doing the right thing. Well, I really appreciate it. You mentioning and that and I will certainly share that with our staff because that is really what we're trying to accomplish. We want to create a safe environment. Yes, When you are here, we require you to wear face covering, But that is not. That is not so much a limitation that is for everybody's safety. And as you said I don't believe that it detracts from the experience you can have here at Sea Island. And the only thing that's the most disappointing about that is that we see we have so many team members who have such unbelievable smiles that you just can't see them. And so you really have to look in their eyes and you can see it in their eyes. You can see that welcoming graciousness in their eyes. You can hear it in their voice. Um and our team is really adapted and adjusted Well, because they have the same fears and concerns that that all of our guests do. Ah, and everybody wants to try to get through this from that perspective. And candidly. We, as the leadership team are very focused on maintaining that experience. We intend to be around for another 100 years. So we're we're taking the appropriate steps to ensure That that the experience that our guests and our members have Is a good one and one that will make them come back. Not one. That will be a one time singular visit in the interesting thing. Excuse me The interesting thing, Belinda. Is that during this pandemic, we have actually seen a significant increase in the number of new guests to see island. Wow and even MME. Or I don't know why. It was so surprising to us. But it wass Even more surprising a number of new guests from the Atlanta area. Um, so just when you think you have saturated a market like Atlanta, which is Our closest major market. The answer is we haven't and there were a lot of folks who are driving someplace they feel better about more comfortable early on about driving. To that destination and we were a natural destination for them to try And I believe I'm hopeful that we've created some new return guests who are going to be coming back soon, but it Those are some of the things that we've learned through this in terms of what we're doing and how we're doing it, and we've certainly evolved over time since we've reopened the resort after closing For a couple of months in early June, and Ah, and now we feel like we've got it. Nobody has it really down Pat. But we certainly know a lot Mortem day about how we can operate safely. Probably create the best experience for our guests. Then we did it. You know, early on upon the opening when Every one of my colleagues and I around the country. We're learning how to read. You know how to re operate a resort environment under you know new circumstances. I have to tell you stayed at the lodge and ate breakfast at the at the lodge there every morning and the hostess there on my last morning, she said Belinda. I woke up this morning and realize that you're going home today and that touched me, she said. So I put together a little basket for you. To take home with you because I know your kids will get hungry in the car. And that touched me so much that she put together a little to go basket for my kids in the car because she knows that they snack on the way home, and we ate some bait goodies from the restaurant all the way home. And that I've thought about that about 20 times Since then, her just waking up thinking that today I was going that first of all she thought of me. And secondly, she thought that my kids would be hungry on the way home wanting to snack and she she took the extra mile and put that together for me. Well, to be honest, Belinda That is probably one of the best encapsulation of what the Sea Island experiences that I've heard in a long time. It is truly about Ah ah group of individuals who are committed To that total experience for guessed, right? Those are the things that will bring people back year after year. Absolutely, Scott Stile and thank you so much for joining us on Atlanta living Coming up next. We're going to talk a little fishing at sea island, so that should be interesting. "Host Belinda Skelton. The pandemic has put a hold on much of overseas European travel this year. But that doesn't mean you miss out on world class amenities and Forbes five star restaurants. This resort is a mere five hour drop from Atlanta and I'm speaking of our own Sea island, And that's our topic this hour. We're going to shine the line on all the Sea Island and the cloister has to offer. I have on the line Scott Stile and President and CEO, a SEA island. Scott, give us a little bit of background history on the property. I've been going to see Island for years with my family and built great memories there. But if someone has never been I really want you to set the tone about what Sea Island is all about. Well, Belinda, thanks for having me on And thanks for allowing us, Tio take a little bit of time to talk about what we believe is one of the world's best kept secrets. Sea Island, as you mentioned is about a 4.5 to 5 hour drive from Atlanta. We've got 45 star facilities for Forbes, five star facilities, the lodge, the oyster of the Georgian room and the spot at Sea Island. We've been around for over 92 years Wow Hand and the island is very much kind of a family destination and a family resort at its core, and it is a perfect destination for families. Ah and others to come at times like this. You know, we're in a way We're kind of five resorts. In one. We are beach and family Resort where golf resort we've and were an outdoor recreation activities and nature resort where a wellness resort and where romance was resort so You know, everyone in your audience, I think can experience a little bit of what Sea Island has to offer and Taylor exactly what they want to do when they come down here. And I think what they will find Belinda, is that This is a team that cares. On Sea Island culture is built on 92, plus years of amazing graciousness and service from our wonderful Sea island team. Many of our team members have been with us for decades. In fact, we've got nearly 100 people that work for our company who are in our quarter century club of 25 Years service. And one gentleman. Robert Davis, who just celebrated his 60th anniversary with Sea Island and You know when when you spend that much time at one place. You can't help but love it. Our team feels like this is their home and they want to welcome you home. When you come to see Island whether you are visiting for the first time or like you said, you've been coming for a long, long time and have developed many, many, many memories. This is this is really what our goal is. Our goal is to Capture you the first time. And remind you that you don't need to go anywhere else. You could have a different experience. Each time you come down and you'll feel that longing for coming back home year after year or multiple times a year. If that's if that's really what you're Your choices. We've made it different each time We've come down our interest. My kids are growing in a maturing and we've made it different Each time we've come. We've chosen different activities, and we'll talk about that throughout the hour. But we've made it different each time we've come and so the memories have been different. The experience has been different. So it's been a completely different vacation with each visit. Well, and and that's really what what? What you could do. Not only is it Different activities that you could do Belinda from golf to outdoor activities to spot focused activities to just hanging out at the beach in the pool, doing things that you've never done before, and I know you'll talk about a lot of our of our amenities later on in the show. But it's also different accommodations. You can stay in different places. You can come and stay at the HQ Oyster. You could stay at the lodge. You can rent a cottage ah, down the down Sea Island drive and stay in a home and do that with Extended family or or family friends and have a really unique vacation experience from that perspective. So you know, And if you are looking to seat to try Sea Island for the first time, or if or, if you're a young family, and you're focused on something a little bit different. The unit the island offers. Ah Kind of a sea island light accommodation package that allows us to to really cater to what we know. And developed for each family. I think one of the things that's been really unique about the island and certainly in these times has been our ability to kind of customize your experience. Each time you come down and that that authentic experience that you get here at Sea Island are the the experiences that really lodge in the minds of our of our guests in our members, and that's what really Get you to be thinking about coming back year after year. If I had such a great experience at the spot next time, I want to focus on golf or if I had a great time hanging out at the beach or in the pool or plain and going down the water slide or doing whatever. I want to go try falconry. I want to go Try the shooting school. I want to go try all of these other things. You could do that either while you're there or on on successive trips And I think that from our perspective We also create an environment that is safe is significantly outdoors. We've got You know, 10, plus restaurants, all kinds of outdoor dining opportunities for people that are.

He's the one who took a shot at Charlie. Last night China adds up, doesn't. I guess so. I hope they find him. Johnny before he finds Charlie again I'd hate to see a board that'll take a rep for killing allows who isn't worth an and I you mean well the chances are they didn't neither one of you. I want to get those shots at him swimming ashore. Good keep him on retakes till he gets waterline. It's kind of a slapstick desert island thing johnny. You, see Charlie, and is supposed to have been on his yacht, and it sank and I just disappear, but some stop shots at Charlie swimming like crazy in shot of a deserted South Sea Island, and finally Charlie comes crawling up onto the beach. That's the sequence. We're going to shoot this morning. I see, he's pooped. He's dying. You know then I step out from behind a Bush and I'm wearing a full dress, suit, white tie and tails. He thinks he's crazy or something. It starts building from there then. At the East thirsty see so I reach into my coat and bring out a soft drink and ice, cold bottle and I open it and give it to him. It says cut quality beverages on the bottle COTR. Yeah, so Charlie, is it any good and I say it's cut man and he says so nice. Say So. It's got to be good. So Johnny it's out and out slapstick, but it works pretty well on camera. Keeps building you see I, keep producing things out of the bushes, a table and chair, tablecloth dishes and silver caviar bottle of wine roast Turkey then a string quartet, and finally a line of dancing girls, and the payoffs shaggy dog. He says look. We were shipwrecked together. How you doing all of this and I say it's easy. I got a cousin in Congress. It's a lot better on film. Make Australia Gay Again
"Okay. Jeremy. So you found these stamps. They're clearly very gay What what's the deal like? Where do they come from? I've never heard of this Gay Kingdom what is it where is it and how can I move there? Are you messing with this? Jeremy is even a real thing. It's actually real and I've been working all day and night to find out more. I've called experts from the United Nations. The Council on Foreign Relations. I've made burner phones. My apartment's walls are covered and post it. Notes detailing epic story behind this kingdom yarn. Did you connect them John? It's GonNa ask the same thing. Yes it's required and after lots of law sleep. I think I finally have some answers. Hermit sexual people have honestly endeavoured everywhere to merge ourselves in the social life of surrounding communities and to be treated equally. This is an excerpt from the declaration of Independence of the gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the coral sea islands. A nation created for life liberty the pursuit of happiness. And all things gay well technically. It's a micro nation. So we'll micro nation is a place that declares that they are a nation but aren't recognized by other countries So it's basically someone walks out into their front yard and they're like my front yard is a nation In their mind they are their own country but they don't really have any recognition or any kind of Legitimacy in terms of the global stage this is Derrick Thomas. I tracked him down after he made fun video online about the gay and Lesbian Kingdom. I created a youtube channel. That has an ongoing series on micro nations and kind of the funny stuff that they get up to so there see land of land lower Malaysia. Lieber Land Danica in the Game Lesbian Kingdom of the Cross island. Derek told me that this gay kingdom was born in two thousand four when Australia passed a law saying that marriage was strictly between a man and a woman with gay marriage all the rage in America. The changes here a designed to thwart any similar attempts legal recognition. At Dav aside their community is facing a new wave way of homophobia. Here's John Howard. The prime minister at the time. The definition of marriage is something that should not a time potentially be subject to redefinition will change so in an attempt to protect against future gay marriages the law said marriage is by definition between a man and a woman and every single wedding ceremony in Australia. I kid you not that definition had to be like at your wedding you would need to say the words marriage. According to law in Australia is the Union of a man and a woman. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard in so romantic really but Derek said it actually kind of backfired and drew a lot more attention from activists about gay marriage than ever before Australia including one group in two thousand and four a group of gay rights activists who were attending the Brisbane. Gay Pride Festival Were frustrated with two thousand four marriage amendment act in Australia. They got on a boat. Well a seaplane That they christened the gay flower sailed it out to an island in the coral sea islands. Territory called CATO. Should You Start a Side Project to Level Up Your Marketing Skills? | Ep.
"Welcome to another episode of Marketing School. I'm Eric Su and I'm Neil Patel and today we're GonNa talk about if you should start a side project to level up your marking skills so before we do kneel at your companies do allow people to do side projects meaning side hustles honestly. I don't know but I do know if you'll do have side hustle. So I'm guessing yes so you allow it. Yeah I think one thing is if you're working for someone right now and they don't allow side hustles. I think maybe you should be looking for something else. But we actually encourage side hustles single grain. For example we encourage side hustles. Because we know that if the side hustle helps people grow helps them learn that they're gonNA take their learnings and it's going to translate over to the business. Smart business owners should be letting people do side hustles their team members because it helps everyone level up and if your employees is fortunate enough to have their side hustle extra turn into a full time thing and they actually end up leaving you more power to them. What's funny is I know one person right now. That has a side hustle. I note really closely because matchy helping them with their side hustle. Probably not the smartest thing for me to do. I welcome and funding. If it gets big enough one day I risk the chance of losing them but it is what it is and I'm very similar to you in which I want the best for people even if it doesn't produce the best outcome for ourselves and one of the main reasons Eric and I say you should end up doing side. Hustles is the best way to really learn Marketing Sea Island Marketing by Disgusting Shit out on my own websites and experimenting. And trying it out Eric. How'd you end up learning marketing? When you're starting a same thing. I tried a lot of different things and I think our paths. Were a little different right. Because you've done your own thing since you're fourteen fifteen years old. When I first started working for people I would experiment as much as I can. I've made sure that I would get into a position where I would have control over the website and I can make these little tweaks and I would want to work for people where I could ask forgiveness rather than for permission. I remember when I was working this online education startup Iran so many experiments all the time because I had the autonomy to do so. Ideally if you're working for someone you want to be making sure that hey like even if they're a little uncomfortable say hey I like a little more to run more experiments and that's honestly how I got better by failing a lot because you're really ultimately going to learn from your failures not so much from your success. This is why neal night we don't care so much success as a matter of fact whenever Neil my have any sort of success. This is for better or worse. We don't really celebrate it. We just Kinda move on and try to test more experiments wouldn't even talk about either. We always talk about how we failed. Yup but you need to go out there and experiment do your own side hustles. And it's funny to see if I'm trying to cheat someone. Let's say something like marketing and I tell them. Here's how you should end up doing something to get the maximum amount of traffic. Yadda Yadda they're not going to be as interested versus. I'm like hey what are you passionate all your passion hats. Start Your own hats business. Yelich already did. I'm really into have okay. Cool now. Try these five ten things out with your hats business. And then you'll find because they're doing their side hustle. They're passionate about it when they're learning experimenting on their own side Hustle. They end up soaking in the knowledge so much quicker and getting so much better than if they're just doing it for someone else in some industry that they're not passionate about.

We had an episode on the Irishman. It was episode one. Oh three and I definitely encourage you to go back and take a listen to that one if if you haven't yet But of course watch the Irishman I because we do get into lots of spoilers but I had some requests online for my parents to come back on the podcast and talk about the Irishman. Because I guess who doesn't want to hear from my parents about a movie like this I guess that's the reason why I don't know but They obliged the fans and I got a chance to interview them the other night and ask them their thoughts. Lots on Martin. Scorsese's new gangster epic film. That of course hit Netflix. On Thanksgiving Day. So what you're we're about to hear is not what our usual episode of piecing it together as like. This is a bonus special episode. It is my parents giving their thoughts on the Irishman so enjoy Gioia. Don't hold anything awful that my dad says against me. He's from a different generation. And that's not me so enjoy this and we'll be back with another regular regular episode of piecing it together coming up later this week so here my parents and This is been requested online for them to join me on the podcast to talk about the Irishman Mom. How you doing? I'm doing fine. Fine thanks how are you doing that. Don't ask let's start off with first first impressions what you guys think of the movie. Well first of all I think you find this crazy watched it like it was a mini series. I think one of those in four parts or something because he think stay at plug and it was wonderful. The almost went to the theater with me to see ya I really really really in wartime also rotate. It's officially wasn't the theater except for day of two ads on Netflix. For the rest of our lives. Do you like you like that. Ah that movies are going to be these. Big Movies are going to be separate to Netflix. Because movie houses are so cold he doesn't era people lose their job on the Irish now. I really really enjoyed it. I thought it was about fifteen twenty minutes too long. Twenty people say our and out well enough I was in theater I went ahead and get up and pee in the middle and that would have caused the problem but being being that I am. I knew a few people back in the day like when I went to high school in Benson Hurst. Those guys so you don't in your age you don't see in the theater little hang out. Those is was so fricking real that it was absolutely ridiculous. Okay Hey I thought the acting was superb. I did think Pacino overacted a little and I just adored the way she pulled it off and I. I don't have anything bad to say about other than meets. Facts is whatever that was called. What what about you? What was your initial initial thought of the movement? Other than that you got to watch it at home initial thought was I loved and I'm not really that big out Pacino Fan I I mean if anything I mean. The stuff that the narrows bridge doing lately has been Pepsi's disappeared somewhere. Awesome South Sea Island somewhere. He lives in Vegas. Does he live Z.. Hiding out Pacino. I know I liked him some of these movies. But I've never been a fan right Romano's terrific out Pacino Rape Iran. They want this case. You are wondering that noise in the background is one of her. Six dogs is licking the floor. Artistic Coda Myth so you started to touch on on who your favorite was mom. You said she. She's your favorite dad your favorites Pacino aright and I remember the shooting at him Burda's because that was supposed has to be off limits. It's a family place and that should have never happened in little Italy. You didn't do that. You did that out in Howard beach and then you dumped the bodies I also remember The Italian American club when he did the Colombo I forgot. It might have been Joe Colombo when they assassinated him. I was a member for that group for a while actually had a card. Yeah I don't remember what he was. Shut somewhere New York and then sparks. Your member spark steakhouse we see that and they often guy right in fronts so I remember half of the Irish now. The Irishman he was Irish too. There S so anyway back to a scene I want to expound upon remember when they were in Miami spell the word Okay Miami I when I was in Miami I was about twenty one years old. Yeah I was not a book I was living there for about two months went down. There were a Russian girl friend of mine. We used to work the conquest together. And then this other other girl came down and her uncle made the best Italian ices in Brooklyn even better than SPA mony gardens which still stands. But I'm show Luigi Alba closed a long time ago and Rosalie Alpha was my girlfriend. The three of us we get invited over to this island we get picked up on the beach and we go to a big island across from Miami where everything is in a state and then the guy's take us out to the races. I think it was greyhounds. Yeah now now. It's a bit story shirts. What impressed me with these guys? Forget the fact. I knew you know what it was. But they didn't have to go up to the window to bet that will run is the came down and took the bets from them and I thought Oh boy these guys they kind of powerful if nothing else and then when we got back to the island and then they were getting ready to take us back home. One of them came over to me and said so and so likes you you and he would be interested in setting you up in an apartment in New York if you would be interested in that the only problem is used tails. He says. The only problem is you have to keep your your mouth shut and that soon as I heard that even though there's only one or whatever now me getting my mouth shut always uh-huh hang out with these guys down at Heston's lunch net on forty nine thousand thirteen. Well yeah now. I'll tell you you know I hung out with Teddy and says that real part of the group carmine Areco and tell me who's calling minor Rica. Italian God yeah and he became John Saxon. It was between Teddy. He signs a lot of Roussaly posters. Anyway back to this story I I I would note you get in this House dog on the I also had a girlfriend whose father was in construction direction down near sheep no not cheap. Yeah it was probably in the coney island and I know every Sunday. The guys came came over for meeting and we were not allowed down in the basement when they had the meeting. So yeah I believe that those restaurants in Benson her so absolutely they was so elegant and of Israeli so nice and was because the mob controlled it now. Everything is this Shithole. Well just told a story dad. What about you what we did it remind you of from your life absolutely nothing for sure the music if nothing else in the end give it credit for Paris? They probably yeah. It was that there's probably a Sinatra Song that one performer. Who is that little Steven Steven Benz Plan? Yeah now what did you tell me that you told me that I don't tell you but I I kind of the game. Yes he was playing. What's his name? The Guy I wanNA see again. WHO The guy that the mob love? So Much Jerry. Bill Datu Yeah to all the people who say okay but they don't mean anything to me. The movie was a very good movie. You know gangs from a neighborhood victim. W. bush some people they're putting in there and today federal Jay in the Supreme Court turn out to be leftists activists in judge's robes never happens you're awake I'm not making up think about it who is it yeah so to my your liberal Kagan liberals Ginsburg liberal girl over there they're all liberals liberals J. that end in lockstep with liberalism I mean never disappoint the party faithful the Democrats really on anything important I should say on some more minor stuff seizure of things people have a different view but anyway the judiciary not just Cavanaugh and Gorsuch but the judiciary at the federal in District Court level or at the District Court level should say an appeals court is that being changed in the way that it is right now on the kind of judges that trump is picking this is where his outsourcing decisions a bit to people who know more and and he can trust on which judges to pick has been a good move federalist society itself.

"The title essay in the book on shrunken heads some of what you'll hear may strike you as gruesome, but it's not the writing that's gruesome, it's a shrunken head that somewhat gruesome, and here's Mary rueful reading the essay my private property. It is sad. Is it not that? No one today. Displays any interest in the art of shrunken heads men, women and children walk on streets. They cross fields and enter forests. They run along the edges of oceans, but none of them to the best of my knowledge are thinking about shrunken heads. I am thinking about shrunken heads the keep the thought to myself that is inside my head for. If the subject is raised at all it is met with horror on account of the violence involved in the necessary removal of the head before you can shrink it. But as an art and a conception, the tribes of the Amazon, displayed genius. That deserves our miniaturizing and preserving a human head is glory and wonder on the scale of the great pyramid. I recently encountered a passage on shrunken heads in Kon-Tiki. The best selling account by Thor hired all of his journey with five companions on a simple wooden raft that set sail from the coast of Peru in nineteen forty seven and landed on an uninhabited South Sea island one hundred and one days later, the journey which even professional Mariners thought would end in disaster was undertaken to prove higher dolls theory that Polynesia was settled by peoples of the South American continent. It is not a book that is read much today. But the copy I found it the goodwill was in its twenty first printing in nineteen sixty two. So does fair to think that for many years people did think about shrunken heads which are mentioned in passing on page, sixty two. By nineteen forty seven when hired all and his men were building their raft in a naval yard in Lima. The market for shrunken heads was strictly illegal one. But there were still people who made their living selling the desiccated top portion of the human body. The Amazonian jungle is very dense in such a thing is hard to control higher dolls account is brief and sketchy. But one learns that it is done like this after the requisite decapitation, the skull is smashed and removed through the neck leaving the skin of the head intact like a sack of flesh, which is then filled with hot sand which causes the sack to shrink without losing its shape or any of its features. The shrunken head is about the size of an orange one of floors men who had lived in the jungle along time had a friend who was murdered and whose head was shrunk. A promise was made to spare the murderer's in exchange for. The head. And so the little head was eventually handed to its widow who fainted. Thereafter. It was kept in a trunk where mildewed and from time to time had to be hung by its hair on a clothesline and left in the air to dry every time. The widow sought she fainted. One day. A mouse got into the trunk and that was the end of the head to be eaten by a mouse to be eaten by worms charmless and inevitable. But for your head to be nibbled that by a mouse for your head to become a bit of moldy cheese on a plate. That was something that spoke volumes about reversals of power about foolishness in vanity. It reminded me of a nineteenth century Japanese drawing. I had once seen mice transcribing a book by Cowan Nobby kazaa in which red eyed white mice wearing KOMO news are kneeling it alot desk. Transcribing a book well, often the corner, naked black mice are devouring. The pages of a previously transcribed book. Am I vein to think of my head as a book, am I not transcribing the book of my head as I write to be eaten by a mouse? I had to. Learn more. So I did some research in found more detailed account of how it is done. A method used by the Harare Indians of the Ecuadorian improve Ian, Amazon who as far as I can tell are known today as the shore, these ethnocentricity become amazing the complicated, the Harare or Schwab. Slit, the head flesh up the back to remove the skull throwing the skull and the river to appease the river gods, the eyes and the mouth or sewn shot to paralyze the spirit which having died. Violently would be bent on revenge. The flesh had is boiled for two hours until the skin is dark and robbery and one third. It's original size. The skin is then turned inside out in any flesh still sticking to the inside is scraped off. Then the head is inverted back. And by this time resembles an empty rubber glove the final shrinking. Is done was sand and hot stones dropped one. At a time through the net compensating constantly rotated inside to prevent scorching the sand enters the places the stones cannot the crevices of the nose and ears and hot stones are applied to the exterior to to seal and shape. The features surplus hair is singed off and the finished product hung over fire to harden and blackened a heated Michetti is applied to the lips to dry them. And then they are lashed together with native fibre the word for shrunken heads is Santa and the process has been in existence for as long as anyone can remember an art so old it has no known origin. Takes about a week to shrink ahead, the artists working daily. A ceremony follows where a string is inserted in the head. So it can be worn around the neck for the head of the enemy is a trophy a living trophy of sorts for it contains the spirit of the vanquished some tribes though, didn't keep the heads after the ceremony, but fed them to animals or gave them to children as a plaything to be lost in. This instance, they are dolls, but with the difference they are real dolls every girl's dream it is hard to fake a shrunken head. But once they became a commodity, enter the white man, many tried. But I keep thinking about the mouse who didn't care know whether the head was anything other than a real meal we jerky. Don't we most of all I like the idea that ahead can continue to have a fate after it's dead. And the story of the widow who fainted every time she saw her husband's head on the clothesline took me back to my own first encounter with a shrunken head when I was sixteen years old and in school in Brussels. I would very often play hooky skipping school. It is also called and always when I did I did the same thing. I took a tram to the outskirts of the city and wandered through that marble mausoleum commonly called the Congo museum. I may not have been a writer at sixteen. But I was most emphatically Daydreamer and felt deliriously happy to be free wandering under the hanging canoes staring at the stuffed elephants and peering into the eyeholes of masks with which I felt I had a special relationship. Of course, I am filled with retrospective. Shame. But not for my feeling of freedom. Freedom is something one should never feel ashamed of. But for my share an utter ignorance, I can now say that my ignorance was not in any way caused by my absence from the classroom. I can assure you my school did not teach. What I now know to be true that the museum I wandered in was built on rape and plunder and pillage and oppression and murder that everything in it was stolen that the very wealth necessary for such acquisition was stolen wealth acquired by four so filthy, and unspeakable and evil. Our heads cannot fathom it and have no single word for it. But must resort to endless corridors of words, each corridor turning into another corridor a thousand miles longer than the last in our hopeless search for. Some inner chamber of understanding that does not exist. Among these millions of words time passes and in time slavery passes, if only on paper a page shuffled among thousands of pages. And then there are two words rubber and ivory that break off from the others and river around the world in the form of automobile tires and piano keys, but commerce and culture quickly. Take us down a corridor. Leading to more automobile tires and more, piano, keys and their equivalent money. And I want to go the way of shrunken heads and Dole's soft rubbery flesh and ivory like porcelain, skin, and bones faces and masks at sixteen. I was not much the other side of dolled them. So it is little wonder that they're in the Congo museum. I fell in love with a shrunken head. Of course, the head was not Amazonian. But African I don't know. How the art evolved on that continent? But genius flourishes everywhere. It has always been. So and will always be so, and there will always be people who believe otherwise as I said a can head is as close to a real doll as one could ever come. And in this sense. It is both a child's toy and an adult toy it's another person after all, and I was not then nor am I now immune to the charms of having someone else to play with. He was dangling from an invisible. Thread much is a spider does from the top of a glass case taller than I was. He was the size of an orange. He was particular and unique and Newman and utterly real a man with eyes and eyelashes and hair. Apparently, the Africans do not close the eyes of their dolls. It was only later that. I learned that the hair and eyelashes do not shrink with. Flesh of the face. And so the shrunken often have the luxurious eyelashes of a child and the hair is much longer than the face though, often cut so great as the human impulse toward proportion. But my man had long uncut hair, and as it was nineteen sixty-nine. I didn't think anything of it all the men. I liked had long uncut hair. His skin had the sheen of an eggplant. It must have been oiled. And all the purpose of that fruit were in it his nose was broad and flat. His is deeply set unnaturally. So and beautifully shining. But so many years of past. I cannot be sure of what was there. And what was not though, I return to look at him countless times he was after awhile what I came to look at and at some point I began to commune with him. Yes, I gave life to an inanimate object. But can I you mean had ever really be said to be an inanimate object. He was not a skull. He was not decomposing. He was not mangled in any way. He had been and was a person. I don't remember what it was we communed about, but he possessed me as I possessed him and to possess the head of a beloved no less than the head of an enemy is the greatest sickness on earth. My could enter the museum blindfolded and turn exactly the right corners one. After another to find myself standing before him at I level. I shall never forget his expression. He looked startled. No other words, come to mind. And no, I could not see myself. I must have looked startled to we stood facing each other the way when you come upon dear unexpectedly you both freeze for a moment. Mutually startled. And in that exchange, there seems to be but one glance as if you and the other are sharing the same pair of is the years past I left the city. I never returned the sign in the museum changed that. I am sure. But the impression left upon me by the shrunken head has never changed. So that I now wonder why human beings do not incorporate the art of shrinking head into their burial rights. I am serious. What prevents us from saving the heads of the dead. We bury since we can make them the size of oranges or apples and keeping them out of the deepest love and respect for our descendants..
