"Hello, welcome to The Loney Show. I'm your host, John Mayolone. In this episode, don't have regulars, because raisins, as always, unfortunately. As for our guest, he's from Portland, Oregon, currently living in Los Angeles, California, and he is a film producer. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Oliver Tutill Jr. Well, thank you, Peter. It's actually Ted Hill Jr. But thanks for having me on your show. I'm excited to be here. Anytime. So, how's life? It's good. It's really exciting. I love the film business. I've been in the business for quite a while. And it's very exciting meeting different people, talking to different producers, actors, filmmakers, editors, composers, business financing. It's all very exciting. You meet a lot of very interesting people that are very involved in their work and are very creative. Ah, very good. And have you been up to much recently? Yeah, we've been pretty busy. My company's name is Cinema Development and Writing Services. And my business partner is Tara Walker. And what we do is, when we started out, we've had our business about a year now. And anybody that's curious, they can just go to cinema wds .com. That's our website. And what we do is, we work with novelists, and we adapt their novels into screenplays. And then once we've adapted them into screenplays, we've been asked by our clients to, well, can you place this with Hollywood companies? And we said, well, yeah, we probably can, you know, we weren't doing that. We're primarily focused on writing, but we started packaging, which means that we started putting together like a deck of electronic brochure that shows the actors we thought might be good for the role, and what the director is. And then we present it to different production companies, different producers and finance companies in Los Angeles, and sometimes in New York as well. Okay, very nice. And what inspired you to start all that? Well, I think I started out in the business, and so did Tara, we were both actors. And we enjoyed that. But it's, it's very, very tough. Getting regular work as an actor, you go through good times, and then there's these long stretches where you don't have much work. And so we said, Well, how can we get more involved in business? And so we both decided, well, why don't we become producers? So Tara started her own production company years ago called Alpenfest films. And then I started, I started out making a production company called Autumn Tree Productions, where I, at that time, this was in the late 1980s, I pretty much focused on making educational films, and actually was pretty much on emotional child abuse. And I did that for 10 years, I had a lot of success. A lot of my films, educational films are used in universities and colleges and many institutions. And after doing that for 10 years, I wanted to segue over into doing commercial motion pictures and, and documentaries. So I started a company called Bluewood films. And under that name under that company, I produced quite a few films and documentaries and pleased to say that some of them are on streaming platforms now where people can can see them. I just have my newest release was just last month. It's called Crazy Horse of Life, featuring Russell Means, the late Nakoda actor who did very well. Right, then. Very good. And have you ever considered like, releasing any of your work on an international level? Yes, I mean, Crazy Horse of Life is available internationally. They can definitely time to be TV so anybody can go to to be TV and anywheres in the world basically and watch it for free. It's ad supported. And then we've got another film called the right to bear arms, which is a dramatic crime feature starring john savage. And that's available on Amazon Prime and Amazon freebie and also on to be TV. And we've got another film that's distributed internationally. It's also on to be TV. It's called the Loch Ness Monster of Seattle and it features Graham Green, the Academy Award nominated actor from Dances with Wolves. It's been doing very well. My distributor is very pleased. He just sent me a letter the other day and he said how happy is that how well it's doing. So those those three films are available now. We've got new ones that are going to be coming out later this year. We're excited about. Wow, fantastic. So where would you see yourself 20 years from now? Well, that's a good question. And 20 years is a long time. But I would say in 20 years, I'd probably see myself and Tara, my business partner, our own company now, but probably producing eight to 12 motion pictures a year. Also, I'm a composer too. So I probably, I haven't been doing my composing recently, but I've, I've scored a lot of motion pictures and documentaries. And it's a matter of fact, Crazy Horse of Life. The score I did that score and I did actually I wrote the score years ago, but it's used in this big feature now and I scored the movie right to bear arms as well. So but 20 years, I want to still be producing movies and helping actors and helping create jobs for people that work in the industry. You badly because they can't get work. Yes, of course. So I want to provide jobs for people. And also, I'm a novelist as well. And I hope to have a few more novels released. I just had my first novel released by awesome Achilles publishers, which is their home offices in London. So it's definitely an international release. And it's called when the sunlight goes down, goes dark, excuse me, when the sunlight goes dark. And it's about a young, young boxer living in Los Angeles, who has to deal with unscrupulous promoters. And one of the one of the supporting characters in the book is a man from England who who wins one of the heavyweight titles. It's also a book that it also covers worker exploitation, family dysfunction, spousal Okay, fantastic. Yeah, let me just mention, Peter, that people can look at it to go to the website for the book. And it's also available on amazon .com and Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, any bookstore, you go into any reputable bookstore, and they can order it for you. All right, then very good. So in terms of your written work, besides what, besides the novels you've just written, are there any more novels you're yet to write or have released? I do have one novel. It's called primordial division. I'm searching for the right agent to rep it. It's kind of a crime horror novel. It's also set in Los Angeles in the 1970s and 1980s. And it's about a woman who has the ability to see the future. She's kind of one of these mind readers and the kid, the male protagonist is able to, he's got the power of telepathy. Very good. And it's set in the context of the entertainment industry. Oh, nice, nice. What could you give a 40 minute presentation on without any preparation? I'm sorry, say that again, Peter, a 14. What could you give a 40 minute presentation on without any preparation? Oh, a 40 minute presentation? I could give it on, definitely, I could probably give it on, I made educational films for 10 years. So I could do on an education, I could do one on the film business. They cover all the aspects of the film business from development to pre production to production to post production, exhibition and distribution. I could do that for you. I've been in the music business since I was a kid. So probably give you a one on that as well. So, okay, very good. What which recent news story have you found most interesting? That's a really great question. The recent most recent news story that I found the most interesting probably would be what's going on with our climate and what's happening to the earth in regards to the climate crisis that's happening in the world today. That's that's one of them, I guess I know it's a big topic, but it definitely stands out. I'm also fascinated by what's going on in American politics today, who's running for president and what's going on in Congress in the Senate. And I'm also very concerned with the state of our country, you know, and how divided people are and how unhappy so many people are. Yeah, absolutely. I was gonna also say to my friends who are very struggling because they have kids, and it's hard for them to get daycare for the kids. So I have one friend, she had to give up work because she, she couldn't afford to hire a babysitter or a nanny or daycare. So yeah, she had to give up her job. Oh, no, that's just sad. Very sad, very sad, the income inequality in this, in the United States. I'm not an expert in your country, but in the United States, it's very sad to see so many people that are divided by class. Wow, I thought the UK was bad. I didn't know that the US has got bigger problems given its size. Yeah, there's a lot of problems. Definitely. We've seen the erosion of the middle class here. You know, it's been kind of disappearing for years. And the income inequality that exists in this country, it's pretty bad. And as well as you know, there was a, I was watching, I was watching News Nation the other night and the big story presented by Chris Cuomo, who's an interesting newscaster, whose brother to his brother to the former governor. And he his top story was these kids that these babies, basically, the toddlers and daycare that died from fentanyl overdoses. And he's all over that. And I'm thinking, yeah, that's, that's tragic. But a lot of people don't want to address what's happening kids into this country, they have many kids suffer from abuse, and how they it's very difficult for them to thrive and survive become and constructive citizens. That that puts something into the country that helps it grow more. Yeah, absolutely. You know, I can share one thing with you, I used to be a teacher. And I taught drama at a film school and a college, as well as film production. And I had a class, this is in Seattle, Washington. And I had a class where I had a quite quite a number of kids that were African American. And I'll never forget this, Peter, because like, they would come to class, sometimes the girls would be crying and go, what's wrong? She go, Well, Joey got killed last night. He said, What are you talking about? She goes, Yeah, Joey, you know, he got on the top of he got on the roof of Dan's car and Dan shot him to death. I said, Oh, you don't read about that in the paper. And then then another day, a girl came into class, she was weeping. I said, What's the matter? And she's when my sister was killed last night. I said, Well, what happened? She said somebody shot to her living room window, and she was killed. You don't read about it in newspaper. Just people don't know about that. Exactly. Yes, indeed. It's the media these days, they only want to show what they really want to show. They don't show the important stuff that goes on like poverty, financial crisis or things that impact a lot of people in this world. Absolutely correct. Yes, you're right, Peter. They don't know it's funny, funny because Chris, it's not funny, but I found it interesting. Chris Como mentioned one night on his show on news nation, he, he mentioned that people don't want to talk about class warfare in this country, you know, what's going on between the classes between the wealthy and the poor, or the struggling lower middle class, you get an idea of it. And now with all the strikes that are going on, you get the writers Guild of America on strike. You've got the screen actors Guild that's going on strike. Now you've got the United Auto Workers going on strike, and it's getting bigger, that strikes growing. And if that strike goes all out, it's going to, it's going to play havoc on the economy here. Yeah, absolutely. What do you disagree with most frequently? What do I disagree with most frequently? Probably people that say everything's going to be great. You know, you just have to hang in there. And also, I find myself disagreeing a lot with financial advisors who say, just, you know, keep it where it is, you know, don't sell, just stay steady, keep your bonds, 40 % bonds or 60 % bonds, 40 % stock or 40 % bonds, 60 % stock. I disagree a lot with financial advisors. Not that I'm an expert in finance, but I'm fascinated by it. I read about it. Absolutely. How much time do you spend on the internet? How much time do I spend on the internet? A fair amount, because I do a lot of research on the internet. And while I'm something to do research on something particular, then then you find, wait a minute, I've got to have to research this more. Then you find yourself going to another page, finding more things to read about. And then you realize you're going to be searching even more on the internet. So and to be honest with you, I spend so much time on the internet as it is on zoom calls. I'm tired of looking at the internet. I prefer reading books. So I read a lot of books. But I've got to use the internet a lot to do research. You know, especially I work with a lot of people that I've got to find out what their background is, you know, in the film business, and the financial business. So I do spend an enormous amount of time on the internet. I imagine you, you do yourself, I'm sure. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Hours upon hours. Yeah, it's a it's a necessity. It's a necessity today without a without a cell phone or computer. It'd be very difficult to survive. I do know some folks in their 70s and 80s. They don't use computers, they don't use cell phones. I do know one young guy who doesn't use a cell phone, but that's very unusual. But it's very hard to survive. I couldn't stay in business if I couldn't use a computer and cell phone. Oh, yes. Sure. It's the same for you. Yeah, of course. The internet is such a necessity. It's part of our lives, in a way. Absolutely. Yes. It is. It's built in. And you read about these kids, you know, they get addicted to their cell phones and computers. And there's so many psychologists that predict they're gonna have trouble with their personal relationships in looking at a screen. They don't spend time in person a lot. I don't know how that'll play out, but it makes sense in a lot of ways. What a world filled with clones of you, what would a world populated by clones of you be like, a world populated by I'm sorry, what what would a world populated by clones of you be like? You mean point of view? And a world populated by clones of you? What would it be like? Oh, clones of me? Yes. Okay, what would I think it would probably be a pretty peaceful world. To be honest, I don't think there'd be any wars, I think war would end. I think children would, we'd set up some type of educational system and change some values in the government in the country so that kids don't get abused, that parents are afforded the education and the training, starting in high school. Probably actually, I take that back, starting in grammar school. How to parent, how to treat other human beings, learning about themselves, becoming self intelligent, learning emotional intelligence, understanding their emotions. And growing up to be citizens that are productive and have empathy for other people. And if this happened, we could, I believe we could end this may sound naive, but I do think we could end poverty in this country. But there's no will to do that. There's no will to help kids because children can't vote. And they're not members of political action committee. So I would, I would make sure that their political action committee is available for children. I would allow children at a certain age if they can show that they have some knowledge about the political system, to have a say in voting, to see who represents them. And I believe with education, and with treating people well, with respect and compassion, having people trained for the type of work that they want to do, that poverty could could be eliminated. And so there are a lot of clones to me, there would be no more wars. And there would be a lot less suffering in the world. Yeah, that sounds that sounds like a very good reason. Thank you. Welcome. What's Education is the key. Education is the key and law. The merging of law and education. And again, unfortunately, the people in power, the bureaucrats and politicians don't have the will or the desire to bring about the needed changes. Yeah, it's so sad. What is your favorite quote? Yes. And probably, I guess it's a quote that is on my mind a lot now, because it's a quote I used to open my novel when the sunlight goes dark about the boxing family in Los Angeles, and the quote is, Oh, pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth, that I am so meek and gentle with these butchers. And it originally that quote is taken from William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar when Mark Anthony is standing over the dead body of Julius Caesar and Caesar has been assassinated. by members of the Senate. And he's bemoaning the fact that he's so meek and gentle with these butchers because he's kind of going along with them at the time. And it's just a quote that just stands out to me because I've used it in my book because I my books about worker exploitation in one way because a lot of these boxers are exploited. And a lot of them end up in not very good shape. Because people aren't looking out for him. So I guess for today, that's my favorite quote. I mean, I have others too. But I guess for today, that's the one that would be my favorite. All right. Very good. And I could you could use that metaphorically, too. I mean, the sense that, you know, Oh, pardon me, you know, why aren't the people that are running the government trying to help the people? Yes, that's a very good question. I'm sure you've run into very similar situations in England. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. All the time. What's improved your wife quality so much? You wish you did it sooner? I'm sorry, Peter, you have to say that one more time. All right. What improved your life quality so much? You wish you did it sooner? well, Oh, I would I would say I spent a lot of time in therapy. I came from a very dysfunctional family. I suffered a lot of abuse, I was put into a private boarding school where kids got regularly beaten very badly. One of the lucky ones, really, I never suffered any permanent physical injury. But I think if I hadn't gone into therapy, and I was in therapy for decades, I'd say that probably the key to my being a functioning productive adult today, that in a book I read, called compassion and self hate, written by Theodore Isaac Rubin, that book changed my life. I never thought a book could change my life, but that one did. Yeah, of course. That and of course, if you're going to be successful, you have to you have to work hard, you have to know where to put your effort, you have to work hard and you have to think smart. I mean, that old saying about if you work hard, everything will fall into place is not necessarily true. I've known, I've had guy friends that have worked hard all their lives, and they've got nothing. Yeah, absolutely. So you got to work smart, as well as hard. Yes. But the more success you realize, it just adds to your happiness and your fulfillment. Yeah, of course. But people need the basic necessities have to be taken care of. You got to have clothes, you got to have proper shelter, you got to have decent physical health. I don't think I've ever met anyone that's happy if they haven't had good physical health. Yeah, of course. How did you spend your last birthday? Well, my last birthday, I had dinner with my business partner and my best friend, Tara Walker. We went to a really nice restaurant down on the beach, had a great dinner. And then went home and watched a really great movie. And it was a great day. And you know, I talked to a lot of friends and family too. I got a lot of calls. Okay. That's cool. It was fun. Oh, yes. It was quite a time. Yeah. You like birthdays? Yeah, I like birthdays. It's pretty cool, I guess. It's funny. I was just reading about Jimmy Carter, you know, the former President of the United States who is a president. And he's going to be turning 99 here in a couple days. And someone called him up, one of his family members said, I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. And he said, that's, that's not real good. I'm not really excited about this birthday. I didn't know you even make this far in his life. Yeah, he's going to be 99 years old. And you know, he's been in hospice for seven months. Everyone thought he was going to pass in about two or three weeks and he's still going. Madness. Amazing man. Absolutely. We could use a young Jimmy Carter today. That's for sure. Uh huh. Yeah. That'll be something. It would be. Yeah. Yeah. What's the best way to start the morning? The best way to start the morning is to eat a good breakfast. I know so many people that don't eat breakfast. They have health problems, they're overweight. And I don't mean starting breakfast, you know, eating junk food. You gotta eat something healthy for you. Eat something healthy. Write down the things you need to do today if you have to make a list. Yeah, it helps me a lot before I go to bed to write it to do this. So when I wake up in the morning, I know exactly what I got to do. And I got to feel the body first. You got to take care of the body. I have a friend of mine who's, he had a stroke and he's in the hospital now. He can't barely move. And, you know, he, he didn't have the right diet and he's still a fairly young man. It's very tragic. So feel the body and feed it well. Yeah, absolutely. I'm sure you know, because I could tell you put a lot of hours on your show. Oh yeah. It's, it's quite a process, but it's definitely worth it. Yeah, it's enjoyable. Yeah, sure is. If you could travel back in time, what would decade you want to live in? There's so many decades I would love to live in. There's so many centuries I'd love to live in. It's really hard to pick one, but if I had to pick one, I'd probably say the early 1960s. Sixties? That's pretty cool. Yeah, that's when Muhammad Ali came on the scene and that's when the Beatles came on the scene. To me, that's, I think we'll never see the likes of the Beatles or Muhammad Ali again. Yeah. So one of a kind, they always say. Yeah, but I, believe me, Peter, I'd love to live, I could go back to ancient Rome and be fascinated. Of course, your life expectancy wasn't very long. Oh yeah. Cause Sanitary wasn't up there and the advancement technologies got in the way. Yeah. Everything's like, ugh. I would love to live the life of a Plains Indian in 1840. I think that would be fascinating. It's freedom that people can barely conceive of today. And what a great, got the kids, Indian children back in those days, man, talk about having a great childhood. I think you should and I'm very excited for Michelle Yeoh. In a role that no one could have ever predicted, she took the chance, the filmmakers took the chance and they nailed it. ABC's Meghan right with Jeremy Parsons. A new alien film is set to begin production, the 9th installment of the franchise will begin production March 9th and will follow a group of young people on another planet who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe. The new movie does not have a title yet or a release date. The Rachael Ray talk show is ending after 17 seasons in daytime syndication, ray said she decided it was time to move on to the next exciting chapter in her broadcasting career, and that her passions have evolved from talk show format. From ABC News, Wall Street weekend, more on how the markets ended their best day in 6 weeks Friday. Strong gains by the major indexes, more data released to show the economy is in better shape than thought, including growth for services industries last month being stronger than expected. Usually, that would still concerns about inflation and the Federal Reserve still having to raise interest rates. But instead of sending stocks lower and bond yields higher as stronger than expected data did much of last month, markets reacted in the opposite way. That's because underneath the surface of the services report were some potentially encouraging bits for inflation. Prices are still rising for things paid by services organizations, but the growth slowed down last month. The next move by the fed on interest rates is scheduled for later this month before then reports on the strength of the job market and on inflation will likely have big impacts on the market and expectations for what the fed will do. "Iowa, front -runner Donald Trump responded. They don't want me to run. You know, it's very interesting with what they're Democrats doing. are funding Nikki Haley. Democrats are funding Ron DeSantis. Everybody wants to run against Biden. The Biden campaign is downplaying recent polls that show the president trailing Mr. Trump in a head -to -head matchup. Meantime, the next Republican presidential debate happens tonight at the University of Alabama. The planned two -hour debate, the fourth for Republicans competing for their party's presidential nomination, will feature Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former U .N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, but not former President Donald Trump. He plans to attend a fundraiser in Florida during the debate. Christopher Cruz, CBS News. That debate begins at 8 o 'clock tonight on NewsNation and on The CW. Journalists at The Washington Post are planning to strike tomorrow. If it goes ahead, the 24 -hour walkout would the be first work stoppage at the paper in nearly 50 years. Unionized journalists are protesting staff cuts and what they are calling a failure by management to negotiate in good faith in contract talks. Representatives for Washington Post management did not immediately respond for comment. Members of Hollywood's Actors Union have voted to ratify the deal hammered out with studios that ended their nearly four -month -old strike early last month. The 78 percent approval of the three -year contract from members of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists was no certainty, with some prominent members voicing dissent. However, the vote is a major relief for SAG -AFTRA leaders and for the entertainment industry as a whole. It's starting to return to normal after months of labor strife from both actors and writers. A rejection of the deal would have been a return to the bargaining table and the possibility of actors going back on strike. Near the proliferation of deepfakes circulating online aside major movie franchises have increasingly been patching together old footage of actors who have passed away like carrie fisher and the rise of skywalker and paul walker and furious. Seven or even just to fabricate a younger version of an actor who coincidentally had an entire body of work from their teenage years to use as reference points like robert. Downey junior in captain. The show would probably be looking for there are other startups around. The world. Likes an antic in the uk and replica studios in australia. That are working to add. Some of that emotional resonance to a voice is using actual actors to help train them performing different lines over and over again with different emotional tones. Technically if you had someone recite all the existing phonemes in the english language or redescendu since that contained them all you should be able to then piece together any possible words. Advertising for some product people might assume dan castellaneta who voices homer is endorsing the product even if he had nothing to do with it so it's a tricky path to tread and personally. I'm a bit wary about the idea of ai. Replacing actors were any type of artists. Mean that's not to say that i don't want. Ai involved in arts. I think various tech can produce really rad art. I just don't think it can replace human-made arts and especially with something like the simpsons you know on the one hand. It's been on so long that it's the perfect fodder for ai. Replicated voices because then it could live on beyond the actors. And i guess honor them in some way but on the other hand. It's been so long that there are countless voice actors out there who can nail the characters voices perfectly and probably with more emotion.

Gonna be kind of a strange season for the nomination because I don't know what the show's gonna look like. Certainly no red carpets or anything like that. Yes, there will be virtual, But sag nominations made a little more sense to letting me than the Golden Globes did, But here to sort it all out for us is Joe Newmark WR movie movie minute. Good Morning, Joe. How are you? Morning, guys? Yeah, it is going to be a weird your first ball. Of course. Everything is gonna be virtual. For the most part. We still don't know what the Oscar is gonna be like. But the Golden Globes gonna be doing it where Amy Poehler's in New York, I think and Tina Fey's in L. A. So they'll be sort of zooming back and forth. Or maybe cameras, you know, or cell phones that on the potential winners, and so if they win, it might be, you know, accepting live kind of thing. It's just a quick note. I think it's going to be interesting this year because it's gonna be almost a little bit like the year that the Oscars celebrated indie films. Remember that back in 1996 when it was movies like Shine and Fargo When things like that, that sort of got a lot of attention and Billy Crystal famously said, You know who are all you people because they weren't Hollywood royalty on. I think it's gonna be a little of that this year. Because all of these things you know we'll have streamed very few of them if any premiered in theaters on so right saying makes a lot more sense and Golden Globes, of course, But you know, that's like 95 foreign journalists voting for those things. Where is the Screen Actors Guild is from people in the industry. And so that makes a lot of sense. So let's just jump into that. You know, I think that the the the Sehgal Wars has got a good sense of what what people really saw and what they liked, And obviously there's a There's a sense of the Golden Globes kind of lost. You know, the nominee a lot of black lead films. In fact, none of them the five blood did not get nominated. Where is it did at the at the SAG Awards? And ah and Marines. Black bottom came out. Really, You know, strong on top. Chadwick Boseman got nominated for best actor posthumously. Obviously, he also has nominated best supporting role 45 blood, So it's It's gonna be an interesting sort of here. What did you guys think? Is you read those? Those SAG awards? What jumped out at you? Well, I think it was so different the job than the Golden Globes because the Golden Globes was lily white and of the five nominees for best film at the SAG Awards for them. Well, at least three of them were minority and the fourth one involves the Korean story. So it was. It was very diverse. That's right. That's right. In fact, four out of five the only one that's not in the trial the Chicago seven, which is a great film at night, and that's also another thing, which was kind of Netflix has gotten, you know a really big boost this year. This may be the year that they end up winning an Oscar after a couple of Europe strong years because all we're looking at the SAG awards and looking even at Golden Globes. You've got a lot there. But right for the five Bloods, Marini's black bottom all great choices. Minori is really strong through the people that movie that people may not know about minorities. They're really nice films A really strong Minori is about a Korean family that's living in Arkansas. They're immigrants to Arkansas and trying to fit into the community, and the father is played by a terrific actor named Steven Yeun that people may know from the walking dead. And the grandmother who's in there who I think is nominated, actually for AH, Sag Award for best Supporting actress is really fun. She's a She's sort of this live wire. She's really Sparky, this old woman who's kind of always giving, you know kind of inappropriate advice in some ways, and it's really kind of a fun a fun character. It zah fish out of water movie, which is really, you know, obviously, it's always a popular thing, but it's really interesting. It's interesting about how how different cultures kind of assimilated into really nice. A nice drama One night in Miami is also another one that people have been talking about it got nominated at at the SAG Awards is directed by the actress Regina King, who got a NASCAR for a fields. We could talk and not watchman and a few other things, and that's based on a place about a night in 1964 that Muhammed Ali, then cold caches. Play, of course, uh, Sam Cooke, Malcolm X. And, uh, and the football players seem to be actor Jim Brown get together in a in a hotel room with a sort of celebrate. Uh, cash is Clay's win over Sonny Liston, and it's a great drum. It's really terrific. Leslie Odom, who was in Hamilton, uh, got nominated for best supporting actor for ladies. He is It's really a terrific felon that's nominated for best best drama. A to the organ. I'm fumbling story at the SAG Awards. Yeah, these are all really terrific movie that people just seek out. You know, I was kind of sad that my friend Franklin Jello was overlooked at the Golden Globes. I thought he would have been perfect nominee for a supporting actor to move because he's so good and the evil judge in the trial, the Chicago seven Totally agree. And Eddie Redmayne would've been great in there, too. But I actually thought Franklin Jell O would have been really a terrific choice. Sasha Baron Cohen. What a year for him. Obviously, the you getting supporting actor nomination for trial in Chicago seven for playing Abbie Hoffman. But then Bora and had a really strong are really strong, showing its best picture, musical or comedy. It's in there. Maria Batalova, who's hilarious, and it is in there is best actress. You know, it's really an interesting year. Because a lot of these movies are the movies. You wouldn't expect it to get nominated things like Palm Springs, even which is terrific. The sound of metal actor named Riz Ahmed, who's terrific, and there is best actor in a drama You Place a heavy metal drummer who's going deaf, and that's a really, really strong movie because it really kind.

And for a long time, we sort of wondered if that was gonna happen because all the other award shows Like the Golden Globes and the stag awards, all moved to March. The Oscars are in April this year and said the February so everyone keeps moving because of the pandemic. And then, at the last minute the other day, the Grammys suddenly announced that they were postponing and they didn't have a date. And then a few hours later, they announced that they were going to be on March 14th. It was a surprise to the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which is on NBC on March 14th. So now so now I don't know what the Grammys we're going to do, because that was kind of foolish. To pick a date that I already had a network awards show going on. You can't have two of them at the same time, that would be silly. So I don't know. Uh, Know if they're gonna scare off the SAG awards for a different date, or they're gonna change their date ironically, a couple of years ago. The Grammys decided the Oscars decided that they wanted to move back from their regular date at the end of February. To the end of January, and they arbitrarily pick the same day as the Grammys and the Grammys. Atago starting for a new date, so I don't know why these people don't call each other and say Would dare you on or look up or Google it. Even you guys have to call anybody. Um, but what's the problem? A lot of what I call it big footing. You know, it's like one organization thinks they're hotter than another one. They think will outdo this What? They just don't have a check made. But what is that? They don't want to do a virtual Grammys. You know you saw the jingle ball in the eye. Heart music. You can do this stuff virtually. Yeah, I love that. You know, I always go to the jingle ball. I love that. Yeah, And also we had the American Music Awards did as a virtual A few weeks ago, we had several virtual award shows on TV. They're not great, but they're whatever they have to be. During the pandemic, they'll go back to it and the Grammys to do. Even when they scheduled the channel January 31st date. They knew they were going to have a live audience. But it's a question of the pandemic is so bad in Los Angeles. It's been so badly handled that Take the Sagon after the unions said, You know, we can't have any production. On be union, the other unions that cover the cruise. I at sea and the other unions to cover. The crews don't want their crews even in the Staples Center, even if it's just performers coming in to do live performances. They don't want to have anybody in there. Because, look, it's spreading very quickly in Los Angeles, and they have not gotten the message. Only New York has the message, uh, to not spread the virus. So, except, you know, Saturday Night Live has been doing live shows with an audience a studio audience. Fallon's got a studio every night. Well, No, they just have certain life has like just a few people in there. It's not a few people I've been. I've been getting pictures of that audience. It's a lot of people there spread out, but it's all it's 75 people. 100 people. It's a lot of people who wins. Well, they have to come in and out. E think they test them all. And they're all health care worker They're supposed to be. Oh, first responders and health care workers Those people have been invited was week one another a lot of people in there now, Right? Yeah. So, uh, hey, what's What's the deal with Alan and I was she I was she been doing shows that you've been not having an audience. The Ellen didn't have an audience all year at all. And just today, they announced that they're going to try and go back to having an audience of some kind or being in the studio in a few weeks. I don't know if that's really gonna happen. And her mainly because her ratings are tanking. Not just her ratings for her talk show. But also, you know, she has a single the game of games on Monday nights, and it comes back occasionally on NBC. And it came back this week. They've had two shows and the ratings were very bad. Um, all her ratings are way down. She's like almost 40% down on her daily talk show. So they have to do something Tol get people to come back. Otherwise she's gonna be a big trouble. What do you think that is that when people found it? Yeah. When you find out about her behavior, or was it or was it just the cycle ended. The people got tired of her. I don't think people got tired of right. I do think it's the scandal. I think that at the beginning and then in September when It was first when she first came back after the summer scandal. I think the audience hadn't said in yet, but it seems to ask. The student has born on all fall and winter. It seems like the fans are just tuning out and they're not interested in it. You know, you know, we'll see what happens to Allen. You know, she's made a fortune. And also she puts mansions all the time in the areas. She's made a lot of only during that. That tends to turn off the average American viewer. SAG Awards and Grammys conflict after date change: 'Extremely disappointed'
"Yeah, I don't know. The Grammys. We know that they're going to move the Grammys to Jane from generate 31st of March 14th you to Corona virus, which again is rampant out in California. There is another problem. Now there is already an award show scheduled that night. The SAG awards the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Looks that date back in July. So the SAG committee made a statement that said, We are extremely disappointed dear of the conflicting date. We announced the same date last July. We expect that the decade consideration from sister organizations throughout the industry will comply with us. Meaning they want the Grammys to move. So the Grammys way got East Coast versus West Coast. You know what the weird thing is? Never speak of such a big deal. It's just nobody watches the show. I don't even know well, first off, I don't even know what sag mean other than like, sag like, so I just don't know why they think these award shows are so critical to humanity. When we look, we see the numbers. The ratings for these award shows the next morning and the news stories always lowest ratings and 12 years, lowest ratings and 13 years. That's like What are you doing these award shows for and what we need. If you want anyone to watch, either one of these shows battle each other to death.

"2537 It's 8 19 talking entertainment news that Dean Richards, by the way, Dean Over the holiday break. I was forced to watch all three scream movies, cheese, and I guess they made a lot of money. But There's something wrong with me because I I don't know I was bored. Not exactly Constable Income E mean, I like the fact that they kind of poke fun at the genre and you know it zero to me, it's It's sort of like something for everyone. I'm not going to call him bad movies. I'm gonna, uh it's not really for me. Sounds like it's not really for you, but for a lot of people, it's a couple of hours of escape. And, you know, just Something to take their mind off their lives a little bit. You know, I just They're different from the Wonder Woman movie, but I've been getting so much reaction. To my review of the Wonder Woman movie, which was good people saying, Oh, there, you know, but it was boring. It was there. You know, the all negative things about it. And you know my response to that is I hold movies like that to a completely different Kind of standard. It's a popcorn movie. It's a superhero movie have to and you know, Same with scream. It's It is what it is it zero. It's not Anything we're going to be discussing in film class? Well, they did get some good people to sign up to be in those movies, didn't they? I think because they wanted to be part of the spoof. You know of the whole thing. I think they're working on the fifth one now. No kidding. I believe so. So are you missed number four. You can fill me in on the baby over the ground. Hog's day holiday chuckling at the Grammys are off for now. What's the latest on that they because the covert 19 is so unbelievably rampant in the Los Angeles area. Right now. The Grammys were going to take place right around the end of January. But now they have decided to push it back to March. 14th. Out of complete precaution, hoping that the numbers are going to go down between now and then. It's caused a problem because all the movie award shows Are usually right around that time in the Screen Actors Guild Award is scheduled to be on the night of March 14th. So that would be two major award shows going on at the same time if they go on as scheduled. Like that. But for now, the Grammys air being put off the Academy Awards aren't happening until April and in just everything is completely up in the air this year and and may get delayed even more. Depending on what happens with co VID in Southern California. But the David Hasselhoff auction went on as scheduled. How this is exciting. This is good news. Because this is still going on. You can still get in on this. David Hasselhoff is selling off a lot of personal memorabilia. Little action size figurines of David Hasselhoff from Baywatch Little little cars from Knight Rider, but David Hasselhoff Always had in his possession, a personal kit car. You know the car that was used on the TV show Night writer. I think it was a Firebird, you know, souped up Firebird. This car that could talk and had all kinds of high tech tools on it and could drive itself. You know, essentially what we call today, A Tesla Eyes up for auction and it'll be up for auction until January. The 23rd the current bid on this car is on Lee $375,000. And if the if the bid hits a certain plateau, Hasselhoff will personally deliver the car to you himself. Good that seems like that's worth it. That would be worth the price of all by itself. I was watching some, You know, some old clips of Nice. Right or not. I'm watching the show and watching. You know what kid the car could do. And thinking to myself. Well, most cars can do these things now not necessarily drive themselves. But you can pretty much talk to the car and tell the car what you wanted to do and what station to turn to. And you know all those kinds of things. Remember when when the cars started talking to you when they first had those Warnings that were voiced by usually a female voice. Your lights are you left the lights on. I was watching untold Johnny Carson show an antenna TV the other night, And it was the first time Eddie Murphy ever appeared on the Carson show, and he did a stand up and I I swear it is still as funny as the day he did it. It's not dated at all. One of the things he did was a bit on the voice in his car and how I was talking to you. And then of course, he went into how most cars uh sound. For example, When you do leave your light side, that pleasant female voice would come on and say your lights are on your lights around. And then he did it with the black voice. You know how it would, Yeah. On and it was really, really funny. A friend of mine's mom when, when my friend got a car that had all that and also GPS, you know the like the map that tells you where to turn and All this and that the mom thought the car was haunted. It's like Who's that? What does what does she want you to do now? Eddie Murphy doing this isn't right. I mean, I can't do it Justice, but it was getting along the lines of Hey, sucker, you blind You like this till Now You're deaf, too. You can't hear me. But new video for a new song by the artist known as the Weekend came out yesterday. The weekend is the guy who's going to be doing the Super Bowl halftime show. This year, So if you're not already familiar with them, I don't know how you couldn't be. He's had so many number one songs and top 10 albums. But if you're if you're not now you will be after the Super Bowl for sure. He put out a video in which His physical appearance is drastically different than we've seen him on television in the past.
