"Point when that Stephen had Scotty Thurman and Corliss Williamson. No. One Richardson's 40 minutes of hell. Then I thought those guys were so amazing in college basketball. Why did that not transfer to the MBA? Why was course Williamson, not a great MBA player? He was. He was an absolute beast in the on the college level. Not that great in the MBA, whereas other guys who are beasts that college like Larry Johnson took that we're able to take their game to the next level. What's the difference? Being across former Senator Larry Johnson? It's developing talent. Of course, with some wasn't undersized player. Larry Johnson was an undersized player. Blair Johnson was basically a grown man playing against boys, even at the NBA level, like Larry Johnson was just It was that here's grandmama. He was just huge. Um, Larry Johnson. He he didn't become Larry Johnson. The back injury kind of hurt him. But he still was Hey, wasn't what we thought he was gonna be at the NBA level. Course wait sometimes, But I can use a different guy. James Worthy was phenomenal North Carolina and is rookie season He was grated with the Lakers. Well, James was and that's all like people think James Worthy wasn't very James worthy. Also one of the best players around I mean it, O'Bannon know from U C L, A Player of the year and amazing in college went to the MBA. Nothing A lot of time guys when they're player of the year there player of the year because it's the Heisman of college basketball. You're on a great team. You're the best player. You do well on our team. You're the best player in college basketball. No, Adam, Orson. No, you are the best parents. Noise deserves another number three pick think about at that time who everyone was a two best players and caused by acid all the time. Adam Morrison and JJ Reddick. Everyone's like those were two, but Dan Dickau was one of the best players just it's college basketball. It's I mean, it seems to me that in football It's easier to translate. Not always are not always because Josh Rosen was solid it you see, like, not great in the NFL, and I hate going back to the teams that I know, but I wasn't no team. Those of my points of reference, but it seems that is more often in football that in basketball, you can see someone who's going to be good and they're good at the next level Basketball. You have to look at all you have to look it just you can. It's It's an eye test like I can see it and go. That kid's gonna because that guy's gonna be good to think about. It was not only the Arkansas but is the bouquet is my pronouncing it correctly. You dokka as a bouquet. Okay, Kansas, who I mean, He was injured a lot last year, but when he played he I mean he was ragdoll on everybody, but that's the thing. He's not gonna be a ragdoll people in India I was and he was drafted so late, and it's like He said. Get it. 6 10 6 11. He's not a true seven footer. Um, not not skilled in. Even at Kansas. He wasn't a skilled on low post. It was Lobs offensive rebounds and throw it high. He'll catch and dunk on you. I mean, it wasn't catch. Drop, Step catch. Spend move. Fadeaway jumper. I mean, it's just It's that it's the when you watch. If you watch boys used basketball like on the six great team, you might have a kid that's like 62, and he's not good. He's just making everybody else. It was easy for him. Exactly. I'm not saying that as a book isn't good. He's just not gonna be able to do when MBA what he did in college just not gonna happen. Um,.

"The evaluation time and hurt me and people don't trust their wives don't even know what they're looking at. Answer among people who vote They don't think they've got their own numbers first. They're all numbers first. They don't They don't take into account impact. They could You know what the numbers can affect impact, often sometimes. But somehow it does not accurately and so they can assess it so they can't you know, assess the impact and they look at they look at the number of games and look at You know something I value longevity well, and there grows on two levels. He sort of qualifies. One is that incredibly young M v p, who got a team at 21 years old to the conference finals. And up 10 points in Game two on LeBron James and the Heat. And you know, even before they got to the finals that year would help and the other one is in college. You had a team to the finals. Remember, this is there's one Basketball Hall of Fame, and that's why Grant Hill is easily in it because Grant Hill basically the greatest player in history, I make that argument, even above Christian later, but he did something they didn't do. He got to a final game without later later, never got to the final game. Maybe take it to a final game without Grant Wilby in women Without Granville Granville got tow a basket of a long shot by Scotty Thurman from Arkansas, off of winning 1/3 1 His old college basketball very much Countess Derek Hale's Derek's case. And I'm just hoping, you know, maybe longevity How'bout. This of longevity helps Derrick Rose playing at the level playing at now, if you could do this for two or three more years. They held him. All that helps him and maybe he plays Maybe he does. It is not for Ah, Banti maybe doesn't like the water. Did it at the inn for greeting. I hope all those things were. There is no one and like him as much as I do. Let's play the Hall of Fame game because this is something that Sylvia and Jeff Miller and I were talking about a little bit earlier, okay with knowing all that you just said there, but I'm going to go to football. Philip Rivers, a Hall of Famer. Yeah, I can make the case both ways. I mean, Is he? What is he claiming One in this title game is that it won. Yeah, That's when he was with with a tornado Cielo. Any playing the game in New England? Was it where he played with the torch? I don't even remember them playing that game, but I don't want people making the case for him, okay? Matt Ryan. At this point, no. That could change your mind going forward. Oh, you always getting even for the both of you Have a great year with Indianapolis or two years and three seasons that pushes him over the top That lie of that time. What is that? Ryan, 32 33. I may be a little older than that. I thought I threw these played like 11 years. So I mean, that one has got time. I mean it. Memorize the final chapter. I've been written 35 35. Okay, so we'll play. The game is a Hall of Famer currently right now, so also rivers. Yes or no right now..

"A reminder about that experience whenever you see a collateralized member bill yet is right yes but a few losses tickets tomorrow that that memory doesn't go anywhere and you still tell that story as eloquently as you did it is you remember who pitched no I know that Matt was legit gathered all that were eighty eight right I mean I was two years after they wanted series in eighty six they went to the NLCS that you're in a loss to the Dodgers right that was that they're a strawberry had thirty nine home runs that year hit twenty against left handers at nineteen against right handers I do remember that stat crazy and they lost the Dodgers yes the dogs went on to beat the ace that remarkable World Series when Michael here's a good one to talk about sports I was a massive you know this but they the listeners also massive fat five thing I thought I was going to be the next problem like a life I just thought I was until I realized I was only five love it and it could couldn't score until Larry Hughes scored thirty five of me in the first quarter high school anyways I'm playing today it is a really important time in my high school life a kind a soccer tournament that is to get identified it also preparing for the baseball season coming up it it's in March we're in Dallas Texas and dot Chris Webber just turned pro so this is the matter of March madness after that words fab four right Webber last but that team is still good deal rose to one hour Jimmy king and ray Jackson and then they you know you can five and others floated in that fifth spot they were played Arkansas Kuwait City member that TWD Thurman attitude was it seems legit what my dad didn't know is that president Bill Clinton was going to the game so we get a phone call I have a game get this I have I have a game at ten AM the Michigan basketball game is at three o'clock or four o'clock whatever time it was they said in order to see the game you had to be four hours before the game to go through security because the president in secret service was going to be there at the old American Airlines arena it's actually the newer one right right anyways that was that's one thing that my dad went completely out of his way to get me to see that fab five that was also the time in my life that I realized well Larry Hughes that early that winter letter here's about kidding Larry Hughes scored at a high school basketball game forty four points on against us we lost eighty three thirty eight I remember get a car that I'm looking at my dad is a K. are you doing about I don't know phone cut out the play basketball about a month later we go see big Michigan play Arkansas and I'm sit there we leave out my dad that was awesome no joke no joke Michael to this day we still tell a story two months later I quit basketball for good that was it okay I'll be you reach Scotty Thurman was it could lose that point guard back what was the first day back for arts only back his name Corey back that sounds familiar and then it was over this Williams said that team was a joke yeah they're ridiculous and then I saw so I we sat close to reset like four five rows right well if you see Jaylon as the point guard my bicycle pops Jaylen six six seven he's taking yeah your five dollars yeah well here's the deal so where I grew up in Kentucky Traviss forty member Travis for all of course these are the only team with ninety three whatever absolutely he and I went to rival high schools right and right and so I I mean I know Travis since we were like twelve thirteen years old and he was a really good shooter and member on the team in ninety three led by Mashburn they went to the final four New Orleans he was a starting point guard and they played Michigan in that semi final game in that Lucy because Jaylen rose was guarding Travis for Travis could get a shot off that was the difference right so as good as Travis was from shooter the higher you go up the more you're hiding matters right no breath it wasn't happening and Jaylen rose shut him down in Kentucky to lose that game although I thought the truck was really the better team player I'm a little biased but Jaylen rose was not letting Travis Ford go off that was not a two seamer you talked about sporting events that that's one of that where my dad went out of his way you know it wasn't anyone in the soccer world baseball world of whatnot if you have got to see that game but it it just said that such a huge influence on me one because I got to see Michigan play in person but to I still tell everyone that story because had literally quit basketball too much later it was a reality check point rate by face while also celebrating my fandom so I'm very appreciative of that from my pops yeah no doubt I'll put more to come here game night ESPN radio ESPN that Michael eaves and Taylor Twellman dax got a big deal coming up one way or the other he's going to get paid but can they get a long term deal scheduled as well that's come up.

"And and be able to stop people at the name of the game rebound play defense and and get a lot of buckets and and score some points so we want to be exciting like you mentioned earlier we have Indian state rolls almond there so we want to be able to give people maybe another choice in terms of style in the area to come out and check this out Angelia eighty only dating yourself is like the same age as the host if you're referencing the university of Arkansas and Nolan Richardson considering that national championship was won in nineteen ninety four which was my senior year of high school so trust me I guess I can I can spit Scotty Thurman poreless where even Alex Dillard was shorts were somehow taller than actually the those images are are seared into my brain from back in the day coach thank you so much for the time late on a Saturday night I'm so happy for you and this is something really cool to have this length of time to build the program in a start from the ground up I wish you the best of success and and we will stay connected before you to put up for the first time thanks so much your time this evening thanks a lot of great appreciate you have me look for to talking to the future you gotta get Hensley Mitchell he is the brand new men's basketball coach at St Mary of the woods college just outside of terra Haute I think I have driven by campus one time it's kind of north west of town because I was coming back from an I. U. P. U. I. women's game at eastern Illinois N. E. R. U. is not that far away but it's one of those places where there's like no direct flight of kicking they're like oh I'll try something different I'll go a different direction ago Hey I think across the state line O. B. that's where the school is and I have long since we able to broadcast a game involving every division one team in the state there's nothing in division two is left anymore sadly it's just you Indian U. S. R. but back in the days of Saint Joseph's collagen what is now Purdue fort Wayne back in I. P. F. W. have that covered I've gotten if not on campus I've gotten all the division three schools in the state of Indiana but I have broadcast one of their games over the years I think I'm pretty close if not everybody on the N. A. I. A. level at this point I have never done a game involving St Mary's of the woods so this might be a way of fixing that at least a year from now do they have a very successful women sports for many years because again it was an all women's institution of learning for decades but I know they've had men's soccer I know that that that that's been the case for a couple of years and so now they're at lunch men's basketball financially Mitchell great to have that conversation with him so talking to a coach who is trying to build from the ground up at the collegiate level when we come back after this commercial break in our scoreboard update from rob content we'll talk to a guy that is inheriting a program that has been playing it for a long time but looking to have a higher degree of success at the high school football level we'll talk about that when we come back its network India that's Indiana sports talk.

"Some surreal atmosphere out there in Fayetteville Arkansas I don't I don't know why so I was not yet eight years old when that game happened but for some reason most I'm having this was like was Bill Clinton there he might have been I'm not sure about governor of Arkansas at that point right now I'm sure he was he was the governor of Arkansas that point I'm sure it was I don't know why but this is not meant to get political at all but for some reason that's what I remember about some of those Arkansas games as they used to like put it on Bill Clinton used to be in the stands he was like their celebrity fan I don't know I remember that but I remember L. J. a lot more info no doubt in it when Monson said the coach is gonna join us today I had to go back in and reminisce a little bit I was watching some highlights from that game I wanted to make sure that he was on the bench for that game is and it was on the bench for seventeen years for Nolan yeah I wasn't sure when that started I wanted to make sure it was there that day to reminisce a little bit because I remember that game as sure as I'm sitting here Maggie I remember where I was sitting watching a basketball game was I don't reason and the forty but it's a hell and all that stuff and later we remember that a lot I'm like wondering though if you're nineteen eighteen seventeen like you have to I I hope the coaches showing those old Nolan Richardson teams are that you know because it's it's that was a while ago you know and so I'm hoping that those kids kind of understand what that was because it was a phenomenon hole really was forty minutes of hell I mean that was it we're gonna run it basically we're gonna start pressing here we're gonna start trapping and we're gonna try to run you off the court all right when you get off the buses I mean that's what Nolan Richardson taught out there in Arkansas that what that's what Mike Anderson is taught everywhere he's been as a coach and what he's teaching at St John's but you're right it was a phenomenon and that ninety four Arkansas team yeah that team was absolutely loaded they came out with the with waves Dillard shooting threes from the outside quarterback Clint McDaniel Corliss Williamson I mean I was all loaded Arkansas teammate finally won the national championship is Scotty Thurman hit the big shot for them and that one that we got a fun guest coming up there strawberry gonna Jenna straw coming up next we're excited to talk with him of course guys want to tell you about our great friends at town fair tire that's where you get the guaranteed lowest prices on name brand tires from Connecticut to Maine nobody beats town fair tire nobody dare strawberry next let's say you just bought a house the.

"What's happening hope you are well as can be real quick before I get too much our list today met me oak reporting the forty Niners have signed Tom Compton he has actually been with Kyle on a few different stops was originally drafted in two thousand twelve by the Redskins won both the Shanahan for their so they're familiar with him he's played guard and tackle in the past he's a swing and a they released Mike persons to listen a few million Bucks my person you kind of a German when he got here but he played a fairly well for the a forty Niners the nice job he was here so there you go a couple of minor transactions well that's your starting right guard there it's not a minor minor transaction he battled through injuries this year and they you know well they brought Sean Coleman back to John so he goes back to that all important position a swing tackle that they lost very early in the first preseason game so that does free up Brunskill in school to move around a little bit maybe go back inside there's some debate with both of them what their best positions are because they're versatile players are they did re sign Ben garland but I think it's you know the right guard spot is now wide open for one of those guys to to claim it's a big spot obviously starting right guard yeah no question about it so there's a bunch of stuff that has happened in the the NFL will get into that in a little bit as well but today would be the start of the NC double a tournament as you said and we'd be at halftime of the early games I was in the shower and I was thinking just guys who made their name in the NC double a tournament may have made the NBA but you would remember for example they do nineteen eighty three Derek Whittenburg DeLorenzo Charles Furlow NC state could win the NC double a championship Wittenberg in Charles didn't have any it kind MBA careers member with birds of the sons for awhile render Charles's sekarang pick of the of the hawks really didn't do a whole heck of a lot so you know the best player from that team was there lately Thurl Bailey yeah several packages yeah I was yeah I actually when I was a bagger I told you I was I was very young like fourteen years old this week in a grocery stores throw Bailey used to come in after hours we would let throw Bailey into the store this is where you with his deep voice he has he has he has a deterrent effect he's doing broadcast the jazz the he's in the studio with the S. R. J. as he does some games who's bowler Jack's partner mark man out harboring yeah yeah yeah not like the only guy that got all of the world excellent it is not like he's he's an irritant Matt Harpring will here's a little dirty I think yeah I may have been some racial stuff there too but anyway he's he's yeah there Bailey was a good pro how bout Sidney Lowe Sidney Lowe is good good code written Berg you got loans are also at the Duncan City law was also on that team good memory so I knew this is what this would lead to let me throw a couple others out there I'm not gonna throw key smartness shot he made this is a good warrior he was a good one I also made a shot to beat my team yeah how do they go to the make it over I know everything was key in the quarter against Syracuse he was falling out of bounds Hey at this guy that threatened to assassinate me your comment one moment have anybody as far as I talk about drinking he was file Roddy slightly rowdy side as I ran into having a say is that's right yeah he's on the short shorts to his I do not write average right now have me killed I ran into him in a movie theater in Berkeley what is the nature of his girlfriend there member Elsa Benitez I do yes however of SI swimsuit model yeah that is what else what is required to catch session at your end he he was anyway yeah what I don't like a lay over what it is that either the orchestrated form the middle though every year trying to appease Weber to slide in a Weber over to four and that Ronnie play five no worries with good that year yeah I mean they had heart away come back from the torn ACL yeah it's free well yet Mollen they made the trade to get cycleway and Weber noted a hell of a good starting at five I got off to like a seven one start and then fitz Gerald in finance so the team call and got into right right from the day the transaction went down Hey what are the Crapper but anyway cycle we had a game he actually had a a double digit turnover game I think it was the whole game but it may have even been in the first half and I remember I was on a pretty hard I think I may have even compared him to Vinny Testaverde as far as is his penchant for throwing the ball to the other jerseys point against so his dad is dad there Athens Greece always leads to a status letter yeah listening on the old satellite dish and I heard it so psychologists advise anyone to any search you know I could have you killed what so when you're on the bus you have also just kind of start he started springing up that he could have been assassinated and I said Ronnie Alitalia if you want to have me killed you witness said a word and I'd be dead so now that I know what you just said that Jim if I die make sure they bring cycle again as a witness you know for first first guy they bring into interrogated recycling so anyway yeah he threatened to kill waiting please it was Keith smart overriding side alright he's smart formally coach at a major health scare a few years ago still going strong so I I would agree with that in okay NBA career not great but it wasn't a great college player he wasn't like Isaiah Thomas or not I was Steve Alford's date yeah see also very good no it was taken I think if memory serves second round by the Mavericks and he just laid with the warriors yeah and you just could he just was very enough groundwater enough yeah very good looking life right did not get along with Nelly at all they clash constantly I could see it either yeah yeah maybe this might be the biggest one but it's not for a good reason Fred brown Georgetown he made the pass to James worthy Jordan hit the shot of the runway brown Fred brown not the sun around but the Georgetown player he thought a word he was on his team he flipped it to him and I finished that game in the Superdome I believe it was in New Orleans and No Way Out of Georgetown's Fred brown it was a good Georgetown team now all men with a gene Smith on the point we look at their bill Martin our bill Martin yep he's also the bay area's weather man but different bill Martin no different content to be a different W. nine meteorologist yeah see all those all those teams run together because I forget because that was an early version that George county many viewing of a freshman that year but in the coming years it was guys like David Wingate remember those kind of guys do yeah Wingate Michael Graham Michael Graham the bald headed guy big power forward Turman who else was on the team Reggie was a cat Reggie Williams Reggie Williams he was pretty he was all right he's the one that froze on national TV when he's being interviewed that's right name is at he was a topic does a top five pick in the Denver picked him for thank you for the clippers the clippers yeah like that I yeah hi can be wrong other names on my list how about this one Bryce drew Valpo game winner many dove on the floor member did likes and like a airplane on the floor hit that it was like I'm not a not even a half court with just inside the half court line to win a game didn't even have a Cup of coffee in the house I did like a drive through dad was the coach remembers dad was the coach and I believe his brother his brother Scott Drews added I think his brother might be the guide Baylor but anyway Bryce drew hit a big one was expressed Johnson on that call that may have been Chad rob redefine that really he's had I remember the Valpo yeah I was a grave and Chad there could have been Gus Johnson ever what I'm screaming like crazy her son L. Paul I'm not going to go see the doctor leads Valpo so I remember taking your lord your eight hours a day and there you go Georgette a baseline jumper at the meadow lands for UConn to win a game again I do have to dissolve top my head let's see who else they have on their Mariel Chalmers who had a decent programmer that great Meryl Chalmers what time they have years ago I am me yeah he was he hit the game winner for Kansas he's not exactly on this list but I was thinking of Ameritas verse from more recent guy who else is on this list Mateen cleaves a really high pick by Detroit but he was never really that good he sighed remembering mine trail grew up loving the chain because they won two championships he was a point guard on that team Mateen cleaves he was really good in college what else they go back to this is this what you may not remember this a long time we probably do you ever guiding U. S. reed hit a half court shot for Arkansas to win a game of the tournament that's that would shuriken Santino that Richard you know wait for freedom of that but that's a great that's a great call whoever that team with what the the Sidney Moncrief team that we yeah it was a little it was in between those two teams was like late seven hours later a member's name was U. S. U. S. read yep he we hit a half court shot for Arkansas I remember that Arkansas team member that budget Carlos Williamson went into the league was really good but yeah they had guys like things yeah but they had guys like Scotty Thurman you don't play in the NBA she was a little bit yeah you played in their little bit but here's a wing yeah but anyway I don't know I was just I was just randomly writing name by your shower you yeah this is like some basic questions are and I I would never have those guys like that will never of guys who either didn't or barely made it into the NBA and their best years you remember him from moments in the tournament and obviously were robbed of that it's crazy well we have a Bobby Hurley Jimmer Fredette a lot of guys that just didn't you know didn't pan out for whatever reason so obviously during this whole thing about the way I shave my my corona beer you thought Miguel scared me and I'm a celebrity.

"Steve are men and love are hearing ten here on this our Sunday how about that intro music come all I always stand now stands a little upset right now because he's having a hard time accepting the fact that your net the lions are above them in the basketball standings in the big ten horror basketball school what is now the regular season title how about that I mean you in Maryland are battling for Missy that are a little higher than us on the list but I've been a a former you know Washington area player right I'm a tremendously big supporter of Maryland athletic I'll really absolutely well good luck to your net the lines from here on in by the way actually won three in a row unless it is so hard when you have a real basketball school like UCLA has been and they really hit the skids the crown it's done a great job I do you know what make crony came in from Cincinnati and here's the problem Steve all for just ruin the program you got to play defense I don't care what the sport is you gotta play defense bring add in Charles back yeah you may those of us back one of my greatest days are my dear friend sunny but Karl C. ninety one mazing when they won the national championship with my dear friend Jim Harrick in nineteen ninety five so I'm up in Seattle at the king dome and I don't even go to the semi finals I don't want to set up in the rafters I knew they beat Oakland St big country Reeves they read take care business there another plane any champion Arkansas corals William since Scotty Thurman Nolan Richardson their coach everything else razorback head knees hurt and I know he's hurt right but anyway a sunny with Carl I I said Sonny got to help me out man you got to give me a couple seats for the game that says Amanda so so he says they'll be sitting there so I walk in the king dome and literally now then now days of the final four they have the whole stadium you know when those days they would cut it off right I'll put it this way as I walk to my seat if they said alright you got an empty save shoes two seats these are the to see that they were to want to coach what it was sitting three rows in front of me while I am dead center court about twenty rows up wow for the championship game and they win perfect so that was one of those dream days but that was a long twenty five years where you put at ban on greats of all time one of my all time favorite here was to start right there okay never models but I was and you know he's the guy that really got this whole ball rolling about you know controlling your likeness lavar Arrington this us started with and branded an ad was there and and he had to have they finished out yet it's still going as well you know the gonna have the new California law here right now yeah right now but I don't know how many people it's going to fact but at the same time yeah it'll be an and his brother Charles that was a great time for UCLA basketball yes it was speaking of good times are basketball right now did you catch any of the slam dunk competition last night I did I did and not like I was alluding to and and the first segment the amount of athleticism guys stepping one step inside of the free throw line and basically going when mail dunks and three sixties and three sixty between your legs and I I guess that's the new craze the between the legs still right yes I I mean they did every variation I I where do we go and I always find myself saying where do we go next I was I was in Oakland when Vince Carter was in with all due respect to the way these these guys dunk the ball last night are probably may have felt the same way if I had gone but maybe not I have never seen are you a person do the things that I saw Vince Carter do at that dunk contest and it I mean when he put his arm down through the ram he he and then you find yourself you walk away you say man this dude athleticism is so like close to not you men that you're you're wondering to yourself what what's what's next like what do we come back and do next and then now you're watchin watchin the dunk contest last night and I just could not believe that these guys are actually jumping off of their own natural two feet during the dogs that they were going in all of our for someone like me just a normal human being and having been around athletes my entire life I am mesmerized I I've always been mesmerized John break it's our our science guy was that he he understands people like you love or make a point zero zero zero zero zero one of the world's population where you are blessed with the physical tools to do so I always wonder everything is amazing to me but I'm always amazed when you are a great athletes and you have been given certain gifts that when you see an athlete because you know what you're able to do some amazing things well when you see athletes that actually do it another level I mean I would imagine for you it's even got to make a greater impact because you at least have a taste of what it's like to do amazing things athletically and then you see that next level well when I work for the raiders Bo Jackson showed up man and the first time the practice of the us all of our nineteen eighty seven HIM played football in two years he comes out to our practice facility out here and are you going to people don't realize how big he is so here comes the sixty two hundred thirty pounds and he runs when we when we start talking forty times you know anything below for three up to scratch your head right of course this guy's for two two and I'll put it this way when we walked out that practice field how long was on our team and I said what do you think he goes this guy is from another planet different plan hadn't put a football uniform on an almost two years and it's impossible you're just watching this guy like okay that is not a human does that is not a hero for you when you see that level like you said guys taken off Gordon and Jones and those guys are doing things that are just mind blowing I would imagine for you it's even got to be more mindful what I guess when you have a certain level of athletic ability you you start when when people do the things that we saw those those babies do last night it's it makes you think back and recollect the things that you were doing when you were that age and when you find yourself because I I will say I I feel as though when I was sixteen seventeen years old the way because I was a basketball player first I'm a basketball player that and I was a multi sport guys so I love running track I ran ran the hundred meters ran two hundred meters and love football so you start to recollect by man you know you watch guys in football you see what they're able to doing it wow how do I compare that I was watching their dunks last night and I don't even relate to it yeah like think about his right leg I'm not even relating to what these dudes are doing right yeah when Harold miner did I think it was was a Harold miner that was the first one to go between his legs right now it was awhile back the very Asians of how these dudes it when some of it is you know you see their fingers and how long their fingers and how long their arms are some of these things you're just not literally physically built to be able to do right but just watching the way they handle you know the ball and the the control of their bodies and the explosiveness that is coming when they take off it's it's mind boggling even for me all right out where the guy go foxsports radius it is much more on that in course a a big day honoring Kobe Bryant lets up so I know it's trendy right now speaking of that rare athlete okay David gas gun is joining us right now so for for most of us mere mortals David we have no understanding of any of this the yard llevar how about someone like you you know I I'm a couple years younger than the love are and I just I don't remember a lot of guys from Penn state but I remembered Kerry Collins John the Carter and one of our area while I just thought you were I I I felt like at times you were like the Lawrence Taylor college football well I was yeah yeah we it's just one of those things were you watch the guys played you emulate when you play the sport like I looked up and like that model my game after Shannon Sharpe and I mean it's it's funny when you see those guys playing anything they're just bigger than life and that's what it is madness and it's it's surreal but like you mentioned you guys are just doing things nowadays you can think of any majorly based like I got like a roll this Chapman throwing on your triple digits on the regular right it's like what your change of on ninety five yeah it's unbelievable really fast speaking of which guys are commissioner rob Manfred that address the media speaking with ESPN about a couple different things obviously everything surrounding the Houston Astros it is simply not appropriate to express whatever frustration you may have by a growing out of the astro situation by putting someone physically at risk by thrown at him it's just not acceptable it is against police in the US sport on your own you know what I would say that's the way it should be able to get into that a little bit later on but yeah I think the old school way in this case would have been the right way fair enough college basketball today number fifteen Villanova trailing by one actually tie now temple twenty to appease number twenty one I will leading at Minnesota twenty one twenty that ball game is on fox in the only undefeated team in the nation in Boise today Boise state and standing with state to part.

"Arkansas fans are hyped up on the interview with Eric muscleman menu should be that is such a good higher. That is such a good higher for them. Trevor Douglas tweets awesome interview with Eric Muslim, and he is going to bring a fresh insight to our basketball team, so energetic. Even throws a shout out to coach. Chad Morris future is bright in Arkansas. Woo pig. It's really bright. And this guy's energy level is off the charts. His ambition his energy his discipline. Listen, I've I've done this a long time. I don't know anybody who loves the game. Like, he does and Eric and I go back thirty years literally thirty years we met in our early twenties. Now talk basketball with him for decades. He wants it badly. He's supremely disciplined extremely focused. Very very bright. And understands the college game he's going to give you everything he has. Chris orndorff tweets. Thanks for having muss on pretty sure he hasn't slept since he got here. I think we Arkansas surprise some people with this higher. I know the fans will love the style of play. Listen, if I'm Nevada, I'm Sean. I'm not shock. I'm devastated that's eight tough loss. But you had to know that you can only keep him so long to know that somebody like an SEC program was going to come calling an Arkansas Arkansas got an amazing tradition. An amazing history. He mentioned some of the names Todd Day. Lee may vary. Oliver miller. The big nasty Corliss Williamson Scotty, Thurman, forty minutes of hell, that's a great opportunity. And is he points out? That's a team that was eighteen and sixteen team. That's two games over five hundred. But it's gonna be a war every single night. Knock offerings. Get some of the coaches ever doing it in that conference. Now, if I'm a player in Nevada that's tough now. Right. That's tough. You lose a guy who recruited you. You lose a guy that you love. In listen, Eric Muslim and made the point that Nevada gonna be fine. They got a great cat a coach a world class guy. Steve alford. Yeah. The guy. Another coach Alford is not air muscleman. Not as good a coach not as good a guy, and they're not gonna like playing frame as much. I hate to say they rebound. Well to get him a guy who has had some success in the tournament. But he's not muss, obviously. One guy lost job and one guy. Just upgraded. Musk's right about the mountain west conference, but it's a conference where sometimes you only get one team in the SEC is looking at six or seven different animal, and you want to go up against the very best. Man. You gotta really let me tell you something either either you work for some bad people or you're a bad guy. All right. I'm not gonna pick here you work for bad people or you're a bad guy. If you're getting fired on New Year's Eve. Couldn't even wait for the new year. Couldn't even wait for New Year's day. Either you work for bad people. You're bad guy. No one's getting fired on New Year's Eve. Like, you really have to problem with somebody to fire them on New Year's Eve if you're an employer. Don't you do this every single year holidays are coming up? Can't do it. Can't do it. Who fires somebody during the holidays? That's not right. Say this for him say this for them, at least it wasn't Christmas Eve. Or smack off eve, but it was New Year's Eve. So you tell me sky sitting here watching the ball about to drop. Checking on Anderson Cooper out himself, a good time. Ten no. Hey. Why.

"Lily diabetes. Tournament is allegedly underway. Let us bring a man who will be calling many of the games all the way through the national championship Turner sports analyst and somebody we watched play in high school. You're even old now south lakes high school. Let's start with this. I ask you as an analyst Dookie when you watch Zay on. What do you see? Wow. See explosiveness? I see, you know, see almost like a combination of a linebacker who jumps like Vince Carter. Is really nothing we've ever seen before in terms of his explosiveness athleticism. But also how hard he plays and steals activity has energy just off the charts. We're so used to comparing people you really can't compare them because there's really been nobody quite like him. That's how unique Zion. Williamson is all right grant beyond Duke. You've had a chance to study the brackets who do you like beyond the blue devils? I mean who jumps out to you as a team that could could at least get to the final four not further. While there's a lot of teams, and I know a mouse opposed to say this. But I think North Carolina is really talented trouble for that. I can get in trouble for that. So I if anyone says anything I'll just pretend I'm seeing Smith, but but not North Carolina. Roy Williams has done a fantastic job. I do think UVA they've had a lot of setbacks adversity in the tournament. But I do think this is this is Tony Bennett's most talented team. And I think they'll get through and get to the final four. I think Michigan state. I know they're in the same region as Duke, but I I was at the big ten conference tournament last week. I followed them Tom Izzo. This team is just balanced tough. They defend they can score. They really don't have a weakness at all as a sleeper team. I like Texas Tech the best defensive team in the country. They got a kid Jerry Kover who's probably wanted to top five players in college basketball that nobody knows about he's capable as they are. Taking a long run. And I love Florida state. You know, I love what they've done Leonard Hamilton. They won twelve of thirteen games in the regular season. People forget they got to the ACC conference finals loss to Duke. But they have a lot of death in very talented. So there's teams out there. Other than Duke believe it or not that are capable for long run. I'm gonna ask you to put all your old man hat for second. You and I did this a little bit the other night in Chicago during the big ten turnament. Will you go back to that last year? Even when you lost to Arkansas Scotty Thurman shot sorry to bring this up. You had seen your late and teams teams at three or four all Americans seem to time. And when you're watching now played there, but you're watching now this one and done era are the guys that he good. I mean, you look at them and think, yeah, these guys could have played when we did and won something. That's a good question. I think I think I think there's some really talented players and a lot of young talented players. But you know, the difference was you had older players more experienced players who had the opportunity maybe go pro who didn't think that UNLV team in nineteen ninety blue blue out Duke and Denver in the championship game. "All right. So story this morning, Mike trout gets paid gets his money. 'cause I mentioned the angels had to do it. And they did good work get some help now. But I part of that's done. Now they've had some time to digest the NCAA bracket. It is time to go to work start filled out that in now, how do you go about doing that? Like you pick up a pencil and you work it out matched by matchup matchup by matchup round by round. Or do you start the final four and try to work backwards or do you have the confidence to go with a pen from the very beginning? And it turned in a perfect bracket one without a single cross out or second thoughts. How are you doing this? And then what's your actual strategy in making your decisions, are you using computer simulations? Are you going with your gut? What your twelve five upset haven't been as many of those lately, but everybody's got that twelve five. Do you have a thirteen over a four maybe even a fourteen over three? I'm looking at you Yale versus LSU, we know a sixteen compete a one, but you have the guts to call that shot again this year. Speaking of guts, are you feeling about Virginia this year if you were burned by them last year? What is your approach this year? Will they get redemption? Are you going to go with a jungle karma bracket and just put Fairleigh Dickinson into the final four right now because his good is Greg horrendo- was when he came back on the show in two thousand sixteen back then he was even better yesterday. I'm still running on the horrendous juice right now. Scott was absolutely amazing on the program. And the karma is strong with him. But he'd be the first to tell you that they've got a battle Alvin a battle on their hands tonight against prairie view. Am and you could tell that he was very concerned about how they get after you on defense tomorrow night against prairie view. Am we got to win a game man that's scene and ultimately? And I know you've you've got to go, but ARCO we've never coach I got nowhere to be you take your time. But I'm just telling you, this is going to be exciting because prairie view really guards. Like when I was at Holy Cross. We played Arkansas to forty minutes of hell here before they won the whole thing. And they're not, you know, obviously, Arkansas won a national Chevy, but at all levels, the Arkansas of the slack. Really well coached Byron Smith really gets after a lot of respect for them. So it's gonna be it's gonna be a dogfight. What's that mean of got a cordless Williamson? Scotty thurman. Scour so, good yesterday. And I said to him what are your favorite lines? One of the things you always tell your team is be judged by what you're not supposed to do. I couldn't wait to ask him that. And he couldn't wait to be asked about that. Now. One of the things you've said is quote, I tell our team all the time that you will forever. Be judged by what you're not. I love that quote. Tell me what you mean by that. A man brother. I just think in life. Anyone could do the ordinary and these guys if we win a game it's history, and they'll forever be remembered by something that they probably shouldn't do, you know, we're not beat now people. We got guys that go to McDonalds man, we don't get all Americans. So when these kids come it's just all in this situation. And then when you realize that dream Rome, it's not feeling it's it's you don't be ordinary, man. Don't be ordinary come to fairly tickets. And you're going to be different. We will wanted for Rome in our conference to start the season. And then we want fifteen out of seventeen to this day. We didn't tell me you're not going to watch him. Are you going to tell me you're not gonna watch that first game hearing that guy? And then he ended the interview like a freaking boss, Greg. Listen, I got work to do. And you do have work to do. Good luck. Good luck. We'll be watching. And if you win that game. You know, I'm looking for you. I can't appreciate your time anymore man are the greatest at your your homework, your research, and you love I feel it. And I really really appreciate it. Totally. And I thank you so much can't wait to see them play. They're gonna tip it off three forty Pacific. First game. That's coming up later today. Do you got in that one? This. Let me tell you what I will not be doing. I will not be telling you how to fill out your bracket. But I know you will be filling out a bracket. So there's a decent chance that you might even not only do that. But get down with some legal sports betting. I can't lie I'm going to. So if you're like that and you're like pretty much everybody else on the planet. You know, dukes can be your final four, and you've probably got Duke winning the whole thing to call Duke. The heavy favorite is a heavy understatement there. The heaviest favorite in years. They're the two to one favorite in many spots, which makes them the heaviest favorite since undefeated Kentucky back in two thousand fourteen two thousand fifteen and that Kentucky team made it to the final four before they were upset by Wisconsin. This year's field a stacked, but let's be real the tournament is all about Duke Zion. And for good reason in Zion. Williamson coach K he's got the most dominant weapon in college basketball. And not just this season. But in many years, this guy's an absolute force. And if you knew it before he was hurt, you know, right now because Duke is a different team since he came back. And as I've said before he is the best player in college basketball since the guy that you think is the best player ever picked the best college player ever in your own mind. Zion is the best player since that guy. And he's got to other top ten picks right alongside RJ Barrett. Cam reddish, and they get after it. And the most impressive thing about zion's game isn't even the athleticism. It's the guy competes for everything. There is no off switch for the big, man. He's diving on the floor. He's jumping in passing lanes. He's rejecting shots. But he's got no business reaching in other words, he doesn't just kill you a dunks. He kills you with put backs and tip ins and the rest of the team follow suit, they play hard. They compete. But this is the NCAA tournament. And because of that there's always a, but if you wanna reason to pick against Duke or reason to be worried this you're picking Duke here. It is Duke is not a good three point shooting team. In fact, they're crappy there are a really poor three point shooting team, which is shocking given their talent they went into the ACC tournament title game ranked three hundred and thirty third in the country in three point shooting the hit less than twenty five percent from deep in the ACC tourney Duke fans will point to that number and say, yeah. Well, look at the ACC tournament trophy. They don't care hit less than twenty five percent still win who which tells you how good this team is forget twenty-five percent. They went to for fourteen against Florida state, which is fourteen percent. And they still won't by double digits. And that's how you that. If they actually ever do start doing anything from deep. They're going to be impossible to be. But everybody has been waiting all season long for that. Switch to be flipped and it hasn't happened. It's been a consistent issue. And it means if they get in deep against a good team like maybe Virginia Tech in the Sweet Sixteen who does shoot it well from deep and has beaten Duke once this year, they're going to have a tough time shooting their way out of it. If they have to you're not going to stop Cy on. So don't even waste your time on that maybe try to slow him down. But to beat Duke force them to shoot threes. And then hope for the best and given how they do shoot threes, you might have to hope that hard. So there it is a little advice about what you're getting into. When you pick Duke, and what you're getting into if you pick against Duke. And as always here is your public service announcement if you're. Wanting to call in sick on Thursday and Friday. Today's the day starts setting it up. Now, don't go out too quickly. Don't go out to early. Don't start talking about your clammy hands. You call it. Sweats this morning mail work up to it mix. It a cough maybe to hold your head a little bit rub. Your temples talk about your scratchy throat. Just don't throw all the symptoms against the wall. Too early. You've got to save it for after lunch. Maybe even later in the day because if you go too early people will know your game, wait until this afternoon. Maybe just before you leave work tonight. Plant the seed, you're not feeling too.
