"You may be familiar with Rosanna Scotto. My My former co anchor their channel five. She lost her dad, Anthony Scotto. Over the weekend. He died at the age of 87. I believe it may have been covid related. I'm not 100% sure about that. I know he was sick for a while. But he was a great man. Very, very nice man. Very patrician, um and just kind of held court at that restaurant knew so much about politics and life and Yeah, you know. Look. Hey, I first met him, I guess in 2000 and seven and always a gentleman. Always a gentle no. Quite a life he led, and, uh but quite a family. My goodness, Gracious and our condolences to Rosanna, His wife, Marion. Sons, Anthony and John, and, um, Elena, his daughter, Roseanna, sister. Just a great guy, Um, enjoyed smoking a cigar or two with him over the years and, uh, Um, great sense of humor, Such wisdom and political insight. So I was really sorry. You know, we heard that he was on a ventilator while back. Which didn't sound good, but I was talking to a friend and they were like, Yeah, he's going to pull through. You know, he's a tough guy. A strongman certainly was so, uh, Sad news there. Anthony Scotto dead at the age of 87. All right. So, um What's Joe Biden doing now? Oh, he's addressing the covid response. Vaccinations and it's all important. It's all important, of course, but what they're really engaged in is what they're calling operation change the subject anything to get away from Afghanistan and the calamity, But I don't think there's any getting away with it. They're going to have to get rid of half the administration. Millie. Uh, Anthony Blinken. Lloyd Austin. I saw him on the Martha Raddatz show yesterday. He was terrible. Hey, Did you hear about the new? My gosh, they're not going to have no one's going to be eligible for anything. So they have gotten rid of one jeopardy. Host Mike Richards never heard of him. But he was I guess he was good at producing game shows. And he said some controversial things in a podcast seven years ago, so he's gone. And now the other one who I'm not that big A fan of her name is my am. By Alec is that it? She was in the big bang theory and she was blossom. So she was going to co host the show with him like on certain nights, she would do it. Now. Apparently, she's got a big I. Q. I think she might have gone to a fancy school. But I met her once She was ultra politically correct, and she chided me. Because I was I said something to the effect of I use the word girl when she thought I should have said woman. I actually don't like the word girlfriend. You know, it just sounds like so juvenile. You have a girlfriend when you're in junior high school. But But, you know, when you're a man you don't talk about Girlfriends and boyfriends. It's one thing they took my wife. My wife and I will be coming by where you see my girlfriend and I will be coming. John Mulaney did a great bit about that. It just doesn't It doesn't have the same ring. So she chides me for saying the world's girl. And I should have said woman. Which I was like, OK, Hmm. You're not my you're not like you're not my kind of people. But so what did she do? That's so bad In 2012. She wrote a book about parenting called Beyond the Sling. And in it, she wrote. That she endured mate. They made a decision. We made an informed decision not to vaccinate our Children. But this is a very personal decision that should be made only after sufficient research, which today is within reach of every parent who sees Seeks to learn about their child's health, regardless of their medical knowledge or educational status. However, I'm reading from the Daily Mail in October of 2020. She said in a YouTube video that she and her Children would be receiving Covid 19 vaccines, she noted it was very disturbing for people not to get the covid vaccine. So she still question the efficacy of all vaccines, claiming they're never 100% effective. Sounds like she was hedging. Sounds like she was already thinking. About potential, um, stuff with jeopardy. Who cares? Quite frankly, I know people who still watch that show every single night. Not me, And I just don't find it that interesting, but some people do. So Who are they going to get to host this thing? You know, you don't actually need a host. Remember that time didn't Watson, the computer hosted We're competed in it. One of those things I mean the show kind of runs itself. This is what we're all about The cancel culture. What did that guy say? Mike Richards. That was so bad. I heard, he said something that was arguably Misogynistic, although he just said that some women like to dress his hookers on On Halloween. Is that wrong? I mean, I'm not saying it's wrong or right if they do actually, I think it's fine. But whatever lots of women dressed like, uh Well, you know, on Halloween. You can't just be a nurse. You got to be a sexy nurse. They all do that. I've seen that a million to everyone's seen that Now, what did he say? That might have been more Troublesome. There may have been something else. I don't know. But Maybe we should just say from this point on if you said something. Going forward, You know, like there's got to be a demarcation. I think, um I don't know if those podcasts are worth it. I say all kinds of stuff on my podcast. You'll know I know what the guidelines are, and I know how I feel. Know how I feel. So I feel like I know what I I don't think I'm going to say anything ugly because I'm not an ugly person. I like to think. But then again, the standards are changing. Like crazy all the time. They change what's permissible. What's not permissible? You know? It is, it is. Look, my life is not impacted in the slightest because I can't say the n word. I'm totally fine with that. I mean, it's it's a horrible, ugly word. But I do notice that there.

He's got to get out of there just like comfortable shirts covered like i do know style over there. Did that change like. Do you know style better mess better now now. I was not the only thing that would make consider because he is done with these jokes at him. I was not not fashion plate before that didn't change. I'm not you know what i know. We have so we're we're we offer eastern recording your guy. We're still wrestling still recording. One of the things. I found began to associated with women as a woman was that not. All women are fashion-conscious. Most of them are muslims. I know just like jeans sneakers shared. Just just be comfortable. I get dressed when i go on stage. I mean that's important to me. That's the way i was trained. But that's you heard. I heard a A joke about a transplant. Like all i think it was from a transgender woman. And she's like my god like you. Just expect a after. I transitioned that i'm going to have the nails and the hair never but but lake most of the women i know are wearing sweatpants out. And you know that's exactly it and and i you know i know i've seen transparent who a overcompensate for the women the end to do that and i think we should have on accelerated puberty accelerated teenage years. You know young girl years we do. I know i went through a period like that but at some point everything levels off in i just decided. I'm just gonna being comfortable being me you ever. And and think is that because of the estrogen is not like i remember when Caitlyn jenner hit somebody in back of the car killed the person and you know caitlyn's like great it's going to because i'm a woman driver now did she. Now i'm just picturing like it'd be i'll be picked up you but i'm picturing well. I don't know that she actually said that she did kill someone right she. Yeah yeah. I don't know i i try not to pay any attention to anything. Caitlyn jenner says. It's just less painful that way. But i don't mind i and i think what it comes down to. All of this is about being yourself by decisions on behavior on style on clothes Might wait any any is all my decision. I lived living up to other people's standards for so many years trying to tend to be something. I wasn't that i just fuck him. I don't need to live for anybody but myself and that's an interesting question. Keep i get you down. You could for me good for all of us. I agree i agree and again Check out the dock. And all that. I get a little squeamish when people are going for the vagina questions and it's I don't like to go there. I really don't. I've been ambushed a couple of times by depot men. You know an interest. It's very intrusive inoffensive. Yeah i know Having know i was married to a transgender male. The male Okay and was long now. We got divorced he. Well it turns out everybody's liar.

"Get ten dollars off. Let's go back to the show. It sounds according to the documentary that it was during the is this correct that is during the second marriage that you realized. Hey something's going on with my density. I wanna be the mom. What do you mean it was. Yeah i it sounds real simplistic but when your traditional roles than i am from that era when rules were traditional on i was expected to do things a certain way and it just went against everything in my nature always endured sharing kind of person wanted to you know i felt like i wanted to mother. The kids rather than i didn't know how to be fun. Only put it that way. But i didn't know how to do the manly stuff. That becca schmendrick expected to do. And tell me getting this right later in the documentary you talk to your son and he says how it felt to be expected to do manley things as well where he kind of didn't fall in line with all the quote manley staff. That was expected getting that right. I believe that's correct. I come to find out that a lot of men feel pressured to be a certain type of to fit a certain type of role. Do you feel understand. what's supposed to be masculine. And not yeah. I think it's a little easier now for men to be more open about the feelings in the key. You know what comes at every time somebody comes on this call. He comes out as a not handyman because they noticed the guitar. That's in his background and it's hanging on his wall and he has to repeat over and over again. I had to hire another man to come into my house and put that on my wall and that he actually getting play the guitar now. Oh somebody to come in place. They played for me to come behind my back and arms around and all that but Yeah yeah. I can't do any of that stuff. In fact i had to. Because it'd be embarrassing to have somebody come over and just put up guitar. I had to buy extra stuff so they have to put up a lot. And then i go he while your hair when you're done with the You know roll out a big deal player and then it was during the third wife a kate that you you told her. Hey i do wanna get a sex change. She was all about it. You get you get married even though you have this idea then in this part was mentioned that pretty quickly then you say hey you know what actually even though we're married and now i'm changed completely. She called the being fully cooked. You said i used to be basically a man non woman. I'm totally different person. We shouldn't be together anymore and that that's it. You have to understand when you go through this process. all kinds of things have happened to physical and mental. I love kate. I still love her if she said she wanted to get back together. Tomorrow i'd be over there in the wings on my feet. You mentioned that. Because i between she the two of us but i just want to say that at the time the hormones were taken in a word were on the rampage. So my body. I was confused. I you know you try and we just this new life. It's it's magin keys if you woke up tomorrow in you know in in women's body have had him. How would you manage. It was still you but you know you have all these adjustments you have to make. It's hard and i ultimately pretty well. I thought initially. I was like being in a half some years in it. Just keep running into walls region looking for ways out just trying to function in trying to get through the day. It was really really hard because y- again Estrogen will not the crap at it. If you're not used to testosterone your whole life and suddenly they'd taken that away and replaced it with this other. Ramon in you do stuff that you don't even realize you do feel the difference. How how how has it changed if any your personality. I'll give you an example when it was when the when i first started hormone therapy kate. Nine with driving i love i love bobby darin Huge bobby darin fan. I had cd on the cassette on my on my car. That's how long ago this was and the his songs came on. And i looked over kate. isn't a shame. He died so young because he did. But as i was saying i started crying. An chase looking.

"Today. the tim kato on why. The mavericks have had such a roller coaster season but why they shouldn't be underestimated. They still have luka doncic. And if you're in a series and have the best player on the court and luca dodgers certainly has that ability. You always have a chance to win. The i'm under scotto. It's tuesday march thirtieth and this is the lead it felt like something great african emotion. Another past because you m seen. This isn't a story rear every the app athol it stays with you him. I wanted to start the story back in august of twenty twenty when luka doncic hit that epic game winning shot against the clippers. Down in the bubble i. Can you just help us relive that moment. Yeah lucas going to have so many moments in his career and if there was a first one there was one moment where you know. He put himself on that stage. You've got to play to make right now. This team wants a chance to win this ball game and say this is what i can do. This is the type of shots. I hit back to dodge dodgers pulls up three pointer. Good wins the game at the buzzer. Shot like this go back. All the way to his european career and even his rookie season with the mavericks. He was a clutch shot hitter. But you know to to hit a game winning. Walk off the floor. Layoff buzzer beater. That's something different starches. Masterpiece is complete. The mavs ended up losing that series to the clippers. But is it fair to say that. With the way that luca and the mavs played in that series that there was a new sense of excitement and possibility around this team. Coming into twenty twenty one. Yeah i think there was absolutely excitement that was generated from luca hitting the shot see did in having the season he

Rudy Gobert's Transformation Started In The D-League

"On sunday rudy. Gobert made his second straight appearance in an nba. All star game. Tom make it a second confederate and for years. Now the big man with the even bigger wingspan. There's been a dominant force within the nba. Tolbert defensive player of the year. There was a time when that was not the case. Time when rudy gobert future was very much in doubt. Today the fx christopher come ronnie takes us back to the time when go gobert was uncertain about where it was headed and explains how he climbed his way to the top. They knew that if he could fill out if he could continue to develop defensively and add various tidbits to his game. Offensively could potentially become a game changer in the league. That's their mind in rudy's mind. He always believed that he would took from wondering athletic. I'm under scotto. It's monday march eighth. And this is the league. It felt like something great emotion and ask past. I s not get this. This is here. you're gonna be the athlete. It stays with you so chris basketball fan today. Think of rudy gobert this absolute force you know a guy who dominates around the rim often makes other teams change their style of play when they face him. But you recently spoke with rudy and wrote about how that has not always been the case so take us back to the days when rudy gobert was not yet rudy. Gobert there. Yes so rudy. Gobert was drafted by the denver nuggets in two thousand thirteen and acquired by the jazz in a draft night. Trade played for show les the french league and his sizeable things into the twenty seventh overall. Pick and he came into the league as a relative unknown. What you'll bring to this team. I mean i i know. You're very long and and a defensive presence. What do you think you can. How can you help this team right away right away. Yeah can we. He had worked his way up the international level coming up in france he had to work himself onto the radar of even french national teams. He wasn't really all that known as a fifteen sixteen year old. How long have you been playing basketball nine years nine. So did you grow up playing soccer before he was on jazz team. That had several high draft picks on it. They had derrick favors. Ns canter to former high draft picks. Big men that played rudy's position. They had a veteran and andreas. Who was a veteran presence on that team as a big man and under that regime rudy kind of found himself as the odd man out but the jess drafted him and took him on as a project and he apparently was not the most stylish guy. What he i community league. yes so obviously. When you're twenty one year old seven foot one kit. That's tall and gangly. It's hard to find clothes that fit you. Great i was going to be on. Is doing right now if you see rudy these various nba awards where he's won the nba defensive player of the year. Two times now. He's showing up and looking very much like a stylistic parisian that he probably always wanted to be back in two thousand thirteen when he was still sort of odd man out on the jazz as you put it. He got sent down to the bakersfield jam of what was then the d. league. i from a life standpoint. What was it. Like for rudy gobert. End up so far off the beaten path and you know in one of the rougher parts of california yes so it's a culture shock for anybody. I think who wants to be a professional basketball player to have to go to a place like bakersfield. California bakersfield has kind of a rough and tumble streak about it. It isn't the most friendliest places. Well tonight we are taking an in depth look into black tar heroin and its presence here in kern county. Rudy's coach will void talked about it would be culture shock for anybody. Let alone a parisian arriving in bakersfield. Which is we're like community area where where are rena and everything was based. That is kind of like mess. Mess capital of the world. So i think he was not going to find a croissant sprint. Snow and anywhere around there. The coaches just told him to stay in his hotel room. And just relax tries to be honest. tells hotel for the most in when he wanted to go work out at the gym. the bakersfield complex. Had you know that all that stuff in their facility but it was very much like. It was almost like a private school in that. He went from work to the hotel room. And that's

What are Pumpkins?

"Today. We're going to talk about the domestication and radiation of Pumpkins. It's the season, right? It's time to talk about Pumpkins and it's funny because we originally did this topic about. Four years ago. Only, the recording didn't work so well. So it's taken me a little wild catch up with our guest again. So we're speaking with professor. Harry. Paris. He's a senior researcher in vegetable crops at the balcony centers. N- Avai our campus in northern Israel. So welcome to the podcast again Dr Paris Thank. You Kevin. It's very good to be here. It's good to talk to you. It was very nice to hear your voice. I'm here in Florida and were here for a while a research visitor, right? That's right. I was in Florida twice on Sabbatical wants at your campus the US campus in Gainesville another time at the campus in Fort Pierce. Two places here in that you're familiar with I'm actually out in. Archer. So I'm south west of campus. You might remember that little town that you did on the way to see her keys archer roadway isn't it from Gainesville to archer? That's right. Yeah. About about twenty minutes out of town and and and and I actually am married to a farmer who she grows pumpkins. So So this is perfect. I know a little bit more about than I did last time we talked. But we're GONNA talk about Pumpkins and so what is this thing? We call a Pumpkin? Well Pumpkin and is around fruit. And, pumpkins belong to the genus superb atop and in capita we have fruits that are edible. These are full pumpkin squash and we have fruits that are usually small and bitter and generally inedible those a cold Gorz. The around edible fruits are cold pumpkins and the fruits that are not round butter edible cold squash. That's general lingo. That's generally the way that. Talk about them you don't think about. Zucchini as being a Pumpkin Zucchini squash or a crook nick his crook neck squash. It's a squash not a pumpkin. Pumpkins our the kinds of things. You just WanNa pick in and pick up off the ground and hug. Nice round. They are edible, other also use for decoration. Well there's a couple of kind of. That we see here in Florida that seem to do better than you know the big Halloween type of Pumpkin on there's things called seminal Pumpkin Another thing that we have that leaders call it tropical Pumpkin, but these seem to do very well in the in the heat of this region. Is. There is a lot of diversity aside from the you know decorative Pumpkin that we sometimes think about. Oh, this quite a bit of diversity in the Genus Kirpa capita. We have three species that are widely distributed in cultivation round the world. We have the familiar halloween decade or Pumpkins they belong to one species cold credit to people. And then also at Halloween, you see these giant gins these belong to the species. Appropriately. Named Carpet Maxima. And then finally, we have the tropical pumpkin seminal pumpkin and squash they all belong to the third species, who Kirby tumble sculptor. And People is native to North America. That is native. It grows wild to the ancestors of all the Pumpkins and wild gourds growing in what is now the United States and Is. Worth ultimate ancestors of the. Pumpkins. Whilst. credit the Maxima the giant Pumpkins, Ankara, Demos Scotta. The tropical pump in on both very likely native to South America who it's Scotto to tropical northern part stuff America. Okay I didn't know that. So the so these are South American origin. and. The people, North American. People's our North American. Maximum. Yes. Okay and so they the if we if we focus on Maxima and focus on most gotta those are coming from South America when. who was the original domesticated and did they find these were indigenous peoples of of the Americas but what did they find useful about the Pumpkin? Okay well, perhaps each species might have been domesticated for different reasons offer more than one reason. Capital Scott I suspect I suspect I don't know. But I suspect was first domesticated for use of its fruits, probably the young roots and then the mature fruits because they. what happens in primitive or wild gourd is that they they ripe fruits midshow fruits tend to dry out and be very fibrous. whereas the young truth sal you could. Eat them if happened than up to be bitter or if you Olympian water about eight times over to. Drain Alpha bitterness. So I suspect criminal, Scotto was first. Domesticated for use of

Sony 360 Reality Audio: This headphone-virtualization system expands music beyond your head

"We'll or home theater key kello scotto take leo how're you doing we should mention that these sony surround sound headphones you're talking about a couple of weeks ago that review is now up on tech high dot com correct and i really love it they aren't they aren't the headphones per se you can use the system with any headphones you want oh so there's just a just a headphone hamper hamper headphone no it's a headphone it's not even a box it's an app you put on your phone what yeah it's noth- nothing it's the cost nothing and there you go but you have to listen to the phone you have to have a headphone you have to have a pair head and also as smartphone right because he has a smartphone yeah yeah you gotta have a source for the the music will be your smartphone well it'll be there are actually three sources so yes you have to pay for the for the swords i have to pay for for title title or cobras q. oh b. u. s. b. jozy as ah cobras or nuggets dot net and you GS and nuggets is specializes in recordings of live concert ooh i i like that which is really cool very because the music itself has to also be encoded in this war has to be encoded in this format called three sixty reality polity audio from sony and what they do is they have to remix it basically they have to mix it in this format and it's a the format is very much like dobie atmos- that that is object oriented so each instrument or sound emitting element in the mix is an object and you can place it anywhere in three d. space so that is one thing to point out is at least unhugged dot net they're taking concert recordings and remixing them they're not getting spatial audio from some sort of interesting recording setup there they might be it's possible i'm looking at like i mean i doubt in two thousand nine bruce springsteen recorded his show correct correct that way but maybe the newer stuff they might be correct yeah i mean new new artists are mixing in this format to begin with wow this is tempting i might i might have to try nuggets dot net because i would love to you know two thousand nine springsteen concert and surround sound like you're standing in the audience that'd be leading more than surround sound how can it be more than surround well because they can place objects over your head up down left right all round yeah exactly and on a live concert they wouldn't typically put the guitar you know above you you know or the drums but they they would put audience ambient sound above you nice and of course if you're in a if you're in a hall with a roof there's your reflections from overhead all right you have to make the the the music the file has to be mixed in this format right and and then you then it's streamed from tidal or cobos or nogues and any headphone that you happen to wear while you're streaming it will will render the file so that it sounds so full and i mean is it really going to have to try it there's a thirty day trial in eggs on any of them all okay idle and cobras also have thirty day probably worth doing because you don't know what is at least you don't i'll have to buy new headphones or buy new hardware now if you if you do buy or have a certain select sony headphones you can go one step farther farther ooh which to tell you the truth i didn't find to be all that advantageous that's the one thing about it that that i wrote about in the in the review but if you have sony headphones and i had the w. h. one thousand x noise canceling wireless headphones sony sent him to me you can use used the sony headphones app which is also free to take pictures of your ears and what it supposedly does is creates a custom profile for your ears because everybody's ears are uniquely shaped it's almost like fingerprints you everybody's ears are different and the way that sound in the in the environment around you diffraction around them is unique based upon the shape of your ears so if you take a picture of your ears it with the sony app and then apply that the algorithm that generates as a result to the incoming incoming stream from title or co buzzer hugs then supposedly you get an even more personalized more realistic

Comics relief? Ukraines presidential race

"In the hit Ukrainian comedy show. Servant of the people. I history teachers, expletive strewn anti corruption rant goes viral. And this man of the people winds up being elected president. But throw which but there's some fifteen. The comedian who plays him load. Amir's Alinsky is trying to turn fiction into reality voters head to the polls on Sunday for the first round of Ukraine's presidential elections and not only Mr. linski in the race. He's the front runner. Five years ago. Ukrainians took to the streets that overthrew their former president Viktor Yanukovych since then they faced a simmering war in the east of their country with Russia, which also annexed the Crimean peninsula. Noah Sneider is our Moscow correspondent, he recently visited Mr. Lansky onset in Kiev. They've seen their economy crash and come back from the brink. And they've seen many of the promises of the revolution unfulfilled, especially when it comes to fighting corruption that's opened a huge Gulf of distrust with the authorities and that has led to a strange situation where the front runner in. These elections is a comedian an actor with no political experience whatsoever riding this wave of anti-establishment sentiment and frustration towards a likely victory. And I understand that you you met Mr. linski recently. I did. So I went and saw him onset where he was filming latest season of his TV show serving the people. And the scene that was playing out was telling it showed the Lansky character taking the oath of office. He enters a sort of historical flashback a dialogue with a trio of important figures. Plato prince flood of Kiev, and the Slavic philosopher Grigory Scotto, the, and what ensues is sort of philosophical dialogue on the nature of power. And this, of course, has a double meaning since he may be taking that oath right soon. And so when you met him after he was filming how did he come across? Mr. charming mound. And actor who knows how to hold the room. But at the same time, he's had a hard time being very specific. At all about what he plans to do. Once he becomes president in part. It's a need campaign strategy it allows voters to see him as an empty vessel that they can fill with their hopes will what about his own hopes. Did he speak to you about why he wants to run for office? He talked about wanting to change things about wanting to make the country better. He came around eventually to answer that he summed up as I want my kids to be able to say that my dad was a normal guy. Great guy and these motivations for many voters raise questions because of his somewhat. Murky ties with color mois key, the guard who owns the TV channel on which Mr. Lansky show has aired the to maintain that they're not in cahoots and that there's nothing to their relationship beyond the business one. But missed his Lansky vague answers have fueled the suspicions about why he actually has decided to run then without prejudice to wear his platform might be coming from. What is he actually said he'll do first and foremost, he's promised to maintain Ukraine's course, towards western integration integration with the European Union. He's talked about fighting corruption and somewhat vaguely about ending the war about finding away to negotiate with mister Putin at the same time. His ideological stance is. Quite over the map, we talked to him about which world leaders, he admired which figures he associated himself with global politics, and he invoked to names in particular day able scenario the right wing populace, president of Brazil. And France's among well Macron. Mccall who's liberal technocrat the Gulf between their policies and their positions is enormous. And again, perhaps suggests that Mr. Lonski is is a bit unfamiliar with the territory he's wandering onto. And I guess that's particularly worrisome in the sense that he's up against a ladder Putin for a chunk of his country. Absolutely. Mr Putin has nineteen years of executive experience under his belt. He's a wily operator and will not miss the opportunity to use his opponent's inexperience to his advantage, and how did Mr. linski and up here. How comedian with no political experience leading the polls. I think the main reason is frustration frustration amongst ordinary Ukrainians with their post revolutionary leadership when they overthrew the previous president victory on the kovic in two thousand fourteen. There was a great deal of hope that the deeply corrupt. Oligarchy political system that has gripped Ukraine since the fall of the Soviet Union would finally change and that fundamental promise has been left unfulfilled. So although Ukraine has made some important reforms, although the country is moving closer to Europe citizens now enjoy visa-free travel to the U, for example. They don't feel like the system has fundamentally changed three quarters of Ukrainian say the country is headed in the wrong direction. Just nine percent have faith in their national government. That's the lowest figure of any country survey by Gallup polling agency. And you see that frustration spill out onto the streets quite regularly. They're anti corruption protests in Kiev in the same place often has where the revolution in two thousand fourteen began. And so who is Mr. linski running against are there more. Let's call them standard candidates. There's nearly forty candidates running for president. But the front runners are a pair of old faces from the old guard. There's the incumbent president petro parsh- Anco who came to office in two thousand fourteen in the wake the revolution promising to root out corruption and change this old system people largely feel that he's failed to do. So the second major challenger to mister Lonski is Hewlett Michenko. She's a former prime minister came to prominence after the orange revolution two thousand four and she's reinvented herself this time around as populous. Okay. So you've got two establishment candidates and one wildcard does that look like it's going to be a fair fight at least at the polls. That's big question. And it's the thing that people are most worried about in key, if these days, there are not only fears about the influence of oligarchy television. But also. Hello fears about straight up vote, rigging and vote-buying and vast majority of Ukrainians, in fact, don't believe that these will be free and fair elections, and that could be the most dangerous outcome of all. But let's suppose things are relatively clear cut and Mr. Dolinsky gets through the first round as expected. What do you reckon happens? Then the polling shows the in most cases, he would win head to head matchup with Mr. partial go and with Mr. machine go, but a lot of it depends on things like voter turnout misters Lonski basis, younger less reliable. So it's really hard to say. And if he were to win in the second round and become president he'd inherit the simmering war with Russia, which has massive implications for relations between Russia and the west he would inherit an economy that still struggling could benefit from further reform, and he would face a brutal fight over parliamentary elections in the fall.

Good news for As ballpark plans, but dont pop the Champagne yet

"You're listening to the spoken edition of the San Francisco Chronicle. Good news for as ballpark plans. But don't pop the champagne yet by Scotto slur for sports. Good news for as fans, I think I asked team president Dave cavalier. Do the ace still expect to pick a ballpark site. By the end of this year's your promised. The answer delivered by Catherine anchor team vice president of communications and community. We are still on track to announce our plan by the end of the year. That's big v as need to make that pick the Coliseum site or Howard terminal on schedule if they hope to open their ballpark for the twenty twenty three season. Kvass update is good news considering the as recent complaints about lack of response to their efforts to negotiate for use of the Coliseum property. Don't pop the champagne corks yet with any as ballpark talk. There usually are huge gaps in information and ugly. Historical references. I have no doubt that the as will announce their side by the end of the. A year says longtime pro sports executive Andy Dollah JR. My favorite skeptic. They did. So in two thousand six for Cisco field in two thousand nine for deer. It unstained in two thousand eleven for victory court in two thousand thirteen for Coliseum city and in two thousand seventeen for parole to college rim shot please all at stake is the future of the team in Oakland any major delay or setback in ballpark plans. We'll have a domino effect if the as fall behind or off their twenty twenty three opening timetable that is likely to collide with their promise to goose team payroll to a respectable level thus jeopardizing their hold onto the stars of the future. Like, Mike Chapman stars of the future. Tend to align themselves with teams that have a future Chapman just finished his first full season in the big leagues and to be in his prime in twenty twenty three. If ballpark plans lag or fall through Chapman's future in Oakland grows. Him think positive as fans and ignore Dollah? Who tells me I'll meet you at the gondola in two thousand twenty three.

Oakland mayor on what went wrong with Raiders

"You're listening to the spoken edition of the San Francisco Chronicle. Oakland mayor on what went wrong with the raiders by Scotto slur from sports. The happy feet raiders are nearing the end of their most recent stay in Oakland, and who's to blame for owner. Mark Davis moving his team to Las Vegas. Not Oakland says mayor Libby, chef I had a recent phone conversation with chaff who is up for reelection Tuesday, and is considered the favourite. The interview was regarding the as and their search for a site for a new ballpark in Oakland. When our as discussion ended, I said, can I ask you a raiders question? They should not have traded Khalil Mack chef shot back the curse of the MAC. I think the raiders are suffering from the MAC curse shaft who was elected mayor in two thousand fourteen was born and raised in Oakland and said, she's always cheered for the local teams through her first three years in office. Shaft tried to negotiate with the raiders on a new stadium at the Coliseum site in April last year, the raiders announced their NF. Fell sanctioned decision to move to Las Vegas. My question to the mayor. Do you think the raiders made a good faith effort to stay in Oakland? Hell no shaft shot back unequivocally. No. There was no good faith there at all. So owner Mark Davis seemed dead set on moving his team to Vegas deadset. No effort whatsoever. I can't speak to the time before I was mayor. And I want to recognize that the raiders I think when I came in as mayor. There was a lot of years of legitimate frustration that they were feeling but during my time as mayor no good faith efforts were made. No every plan through the years has been complicated. By the fact, that the Coliseum land is owned jointly by the city and county. And by the fact that the raiders a showed little or no interest in working with one. Another also any deal, including proposals with outside developers would have required using part of the site for commercial development which Davis opposed but chef was aggressive in pursuing a deal between the time. She took office. In January twenty fifteen and Davis final decision to move to Las Vegas in January twenty sixteen the mayor brought plans and ideas to the table, but the raiders were not eager participants. I Ashraf whether it bothered her that she and Oakland officials have been cast in the role of villains by Davis. And some of his team's fans for not trying hard enough to keep the team. You know, honestly, I have been pleasantly surprised chef said, I think that actually the residents of Oakland had been refreshingly supportive, and understanding that the city took a principled stand. And while we were all sad that we lost our beloved team. We did. So in principle, I actually have been encouraged by the amount of understanding, and in many ways support that I got from how I handled the matter chef is probably getting even more support these days as the raiders are in freefall with they want a seven record and head coach Jon Gruden presiding over what looks more each day like a complete rebuild the benefits of which won't be much. Good to Oakland fans since the raiders are likely to move. Out after the season when they're Coliseum. Lease expires. I mentioned a shaft that Davis had a few years ago that he would be happy to build a no frills stadium in Oakland for under a billion dollars. And now his team's share of the new Vegas stadium. Costs will probably approach what he would have spent to stay in Oakland shaft said how we were going to finance the new stadium in Oakland was through more development on the giant surface parking lot, which he refused to give up a single parking space. And I understand that they're not going to have the parking spaces at the Vegas stadium. So again, I think there is ample evidence that there was not a good faith effort to stay because the deal that we presented with Ronnie Lott was an absolutely viable shuffle ready deal that the raiders walked away from did that shocker. Yes. Yes. I shouldn't say I was completely shot because the raiders had stonewalled for the entire time that I was mayor, but the NFL allowed them to do that when their own league policy state that they're going to give the hallmark it every chance to be successful. That was surprising. And that was very disappointing. The raiders through team president Mark Bayden declined to respond to shafts comments. Multiple sources told me that Davis rejected any plan or proposal at the Coliseum site. If that plan called for one less parking space than is. Currently there Coliseum site has about eight thousand parking spaces, the new Las Vegas stadium will have fewer than three thousand spaces on site. According to the Las Vegas sun. There will be fourteen thousand spaces offsite with most fans shuttling to the stadium. The lot proposal backed by predominantly African American group of investors and initially given NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's stamp of approval would have set aside fifteen acres for the as if they chose to stay at the Coliseum site. The group plan to build hotels and restaurants on the site. The city would kick in two hundred million dollars for infrastructure. The raiders did not actively participate in those negotiations. Oakland ficials have said that before the raiders announced their moved to Las Vegas. The city had not been able to meet direct. With Davis for more than a year in a dear John letter to Oakland. Goodell said a key sticking point was Oakland refusal to tell the as to take a hike. Davis has said that what finalized his decision to move to Vegas was Oakland tripling the raiders rent at the Coliseum in early twenty sixteen after the league shot down the raiders attempt to move to Los Angeles. So the team owner who was aggressively attempting to move his team to LA was angered by the perceived disloyalty of Oakland and its mayor.
