Chief defends delay telling public of mass shooter at-large
"The police chief in the California city where 20 people were shot at a ballroom dance hall, 11 fatally, is defending his decision not to warn the public for hours that a killer was on the loose. I'm Ben Thomas with the latest. Monterey Park police chief Scott Weiss tells the AP other law enforcement in the region were alerted, but it didn't make sense to warn the public late at night, even after receiving a report that the suspect may have targeted another club nearby. I'm not going to send my officers door to door, waking people up and telling them that we're looking for a male Asian in Monterey Park. It's not going to do us any good. We said the scene inside the club was overwhelming. There were victims about every ten feet. And his team needed help. Nobody in our department, including myself, has ever been involved in a situation like this. They brought in the LA county sheriff's department, they'd be able to pull that information out and get it out to the public if it was necessary. A sheriff's official confirmed the fatalities to the AP about four hours after the shooting, but it was roughly an hour later the first word came a suspect was at large. Several hours later, he was found dead in his van, authorities saying, from a self inflicted gunshot. I'm Ben Thomas
Rep. Scott Perry: Reaction to AT&T Taking Down Newsmax
"I would love to get your take on what direct TV is doing AT&T DirecTV now canceling newsmax. They had already deplatformed one America news. Newsmax happened to be the only conservative cable channel that had been broadcasting Trump's rallies and addresses and then last night they got deplatformed, should we be concerned about this? Well, you should be concerned, look, the large woke media outlets are censoring individual voices where they can in mass communication forces where the message is unpalatable to them. The good news is that there's going to be alternatives. It's going to drive the market for alternatives and these low corporations are going to start going broke. They're going to lose market share and hopefully they'll be dinosaurs of the past and we can have a free open media and a free open market where the ideas of everybody are heard and we can all make our assessment of course that's not what they want and that's not what some of the government want, but as long as we can still have a competitive market, there's going to be replacements. It's unfortunate it has come to this, but people are going to have to make choices. And if they appreciate being lied to every day and receiving Soviet style propaganda, then they're going to accept it. But you and I both know Todd because their listeners to your show that they are not going to accept it.
Rep. Scott Perry: Impeach Alejandro Mayorkas
"Curious to know why you want to impeach secretary Alejandro mayorkas. Well, Todd, good day to you as well and good day to America because Republicans are finally in charge of one of the branches of the legislature and there can be some accountability. So look, secretary mayorkas has made the case for impeachment himself. He's not only flouting the law, just ignoring it, but he's actively he's actively objecting to the law and refusing to follow it and imperiling the citizens of the United States of America. We each take an oath to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States, not the constitution of Mexico or Guatemala or Columbia or Venezuela. We all want to help Todd. Everybody wants to help these people in need, but the way to help them, the people in need is not by stomping on the face of the people that you serve. And the people that we serve pay the taxes, it's their schools that are in peril. It's their streets. It's their hospitals. It's their paycheck and their wallet that's in peril and our duty is first to them. And so with all due respect, secretary mayorkas has presided over record after record of illegal crossings into the United States of America, not the least of which is Chinese made fentanyl coming in and killing American citizens more double every year than what we lost in 20 years in combat in Vietnam. Now many people don't see an issue, maybe they don't maybe it's not come to their hometown or their family, but by the time it does, unfortunately, it's deadly serious and we have a duty to make sure that we preserve the tranquility, the domestic tranquility that the people in America have a right given them to them by God to enjoy. You know what
Why the RNC Is Angry With Harmeet Dhillon
"I encourage every single one of you. We need you right now to just communicate your sentiment to your RNC chairman or commitment. They are making their decisions in real time. And if you have not yet sent an email, you guys can get all the information, there's a website that is up and running. It's higher harming dot com H IRE harmeet dot com, hire like you're hiring somebody for a job, hire meat dot com and you'll go through it and we have a lot of patriots watching right now from Oklahoma. We have people from Nebraska. We have people from Ohio. Just go and contact them. That is all organized by Scott pressler, by the way. And this is really bothering the ruling class of the RNC. In fact, they are putting out press releases that their troubled that the people are now involved in this clubby process. Walk us through. Right, I mean, look, I want to be fair here. Many members of the RNC do come from the grassroots and even if they don't, they realize they're representatives of the people and they care. So emails to them, polite emails, best if you're from their state, are persuasive. Many other members of the RNC have been very angry with me. That supporters of mine like Scott pressler have put out email addresses. And there have also been some unfortunate phone calls from no effort of our side to people supporting Mike lindell. I'm sure he also doesn't support that kind of effort. But at the end of the day, I'm a representative, but why did I step into this? I represent the voters in California, millions of them, Republican voters who want the RNC to win elections, and they sent me there for that purpose. And I sit on a board, I sit on the board of the Republican Party, the Republican Party is not fulfilling its duty, and that's why I'm stepping forward. And
The latest in sports
"AP sports I'm David Schuster to NFL playoff games contested Saturday in Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes played through an ankle injury throwing a pair of touchdown passes as the chiefs down Jacksonville 27 20, Kansas City coach Andy Reid crediting his defense. I thought from the DBs to the defensive line to the linebackers, I just, again, my head goes off to the guys for that. Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, the eagles overwhelmed the Giants 38 to 7 with our Michael luongo in attendance. The eagle jumped to a 14 nothing for his quarterly on touchdown passes by a jail and hurts won the Dallas Goddard. The other devonta Smith first picked up a 5 yard touchdown run with 43 seconds to go in the first half, Boston Scott had a three yard touchdown one, maybe for the second quarter for the birds who were advanced to the NSA championship game for the first time since 2017. Coming up later Sunday, it will be Cincinnati at buffalo and Dallas at San Francisco. Lots of NBA action Saturday, Boston made it 9 straight wins, one O 6 one O four over Toronto, grant Williams scoring 25 points off the bench. As a role player in this league, you have to be prepared for any of those opportunities and you have to step up when the opportunity arises. And I feel like I try my best to do that and tonight shops went down and just continue to be aggressive. Evan mobley was aggressive scoring a career high 38 points as Cleveland defeated Milwaukee one 14 one O two, mobley's coach JB bickerstaff certainly impressed. You know, it's not just a particular quarter, but it's when winning matters the most. And I think he's got that gene when winning Mars is the most to rise to another level. And Minnesota coach Chris Finch had a bird's eye view, watching Anthony Edwards score 44 points as the T wolves defeated Houston one 13 one O four. Yeah, I mean, he was locked in all day. We had talked yesterday about how important this game was for us. And how he needed to set the tone. He certainly did that. He was special today. College hoops, TCU crushed number two Kansas, 83 60. I'm David Shuster, AP sports.
Karl Rove: Biden's Judgement of Trump Taking Documents Was a Mistake
"Is Karl rove over the weekend. The longtime Republican operative on Fox News channel. Here's Carl. Well, I like him. A lot of things that the problem is the president himself. I mean, you ran that I think one of the most important pieces of tape to be seen about this, which is how did he characterize president Trump taking documents to Mar-a-Lago? And in that, in that September interview with Scott pelley of 60 minutes, he goes out of his way to take a two by four to Trump. He would have been better, even if he even if he at that point he didn't apparently remember that he had classified documents, but he should have said, you know what? That's in the hands of the Department of Justice. I'm going to leave it alone. But the political in him, the political analyst, and he said, I got to take a two by four to president Trump, big mistake. We're going to see that piece of footage time and time again as this drama plays out. Now, Karl rove is a political animal himself. So he thinks this is just politics. This is in politics. He's a liar. When Joe Biden said this, inevitably, he had no business throwing rocks in his big fat glass house. When you saw the photograph of the top secret documents laid out on the floor at Mar-a-Lago. What did you think to yourself? Anyone could be that irresponsible. And now he looks positively ridiculous because you are that irresponsible grandpa, you were that irresponsible. You were reckless. You were shoddy.
Scott Schober Shares His Thoughts on the Risks of Crypto
"See Scott sober is joining us. You got out of your tech holdings. That's very interesting. Yeah, I think it was time because while all the challenges with the current administration and it just seemed like too risky and things in the real estate investment trust very select one seemed to be doing well, not the ones that are paying a whole lot. Of course, it's a little scary. Because I don't know how long the last, but and then as far as crypto, I just, I would run from that. It's just too much risk there for all the stuff because I focus more on the cybersecurity side and I literally report every single day. It's a new crypto and ICO in exchange, something goes under and it just seems so risky unless you have money that you're willing to throw out the window. I would not consider that unless you're somebody that's in the space day in and day out and understand the inherent risks of crypto. It's not as much a crypto as bad. It's probably more the means that it's stored that you're not fooled, so it's not compromised. So unless you're willing to really understand the background of it, I wouldn't say the blockchain is broken or it's insecure, encryption and secure. It's really understanding the whole ecosystem. Unless you're willing to spend the time and money to do that, stay away from crypto just too risky, that's all.
Expert Chef Andrew Gruel Talks the Left's New Attack on Gas Stoves
"All right, let's go through the list of all the things that the left thinks is toxic. They think masculinity is toxic. They think marriage is toxic, they think Christianity is toxic. And now they have a new one. Oh yeah, they think owning guns is toxic, borders or toxic. They think children being children are toxic, but they got a new one. According to the freak Scott Weiner from California who we have gone into great detail, who he is. He says conservatives are trying to make protecting gas stoves, which are toxic. A culture war issue. Well, look, I don't cook very much, not one of my gift things is to cook. I'm actually awful at it. And but I know from very limited experience that electric stones versus a gas powered stove. It's not even a question. And joining us now is chef Andrew gruel, who is an anti lockdown chef from California, somewhat of a legend, Andrew, welcome to the program. Thank you for having me. I appreciate it. All right, Andrew, you are a world class chef, very well respected. I am a layman with these things. The extent of my cooking is something similar to a pyrotechnic experiment, and it doesn't always go well. What is the technical difference between a gas stove and electric stroke? Let's just start there. Why should gas stoves be continued in the culinary tradition of the west? At the very base of this, when I cook with electric, the likelihood I'm going to burn my food is probably a 1000% higher because it takes so long to get the pan up to temperature, but then it also takes so long to get it down that when I do get it up, it keeps getting hotter and hotter and hotter because you can not manipulate heat. I can't just turn it on or off, right? I turn the gas off, it's off. Electric, it's this long slow gradual incline and decline. So you're going to burn your food, which actually burnt food, they say, has carcinogens in it, which could lead to cancer. So they're encouraging you to die.
Gaudreau, Steel lead Wild past Islanders 3-1
"The wild scored three times in the last half of the third period to beat the islanders three one. Frederick goodrow tied it with a shorthanded goal with 9 O 5 left. The bar played in score, but at least there was some good momentum created on it. I thought we'll take them on whatever situation power play PK 5 one 5. Sam Steele put Minnesota ahead just 93 seconds later. Philip Gustafsson turned back 19 shots in the wild's first win in four games. Scott Mayfield opened the scoring, and Ilya siroc had made 33 saves, but the islanders dropped their fourth in a row. Minnesota won despite going zero for 6 on the power play. I'm Dave ferry.
Navigating the Senate Minority With Sen. Rick Scott
"Senator Scott, how are you going to navigate now being in the Senate minority? What power if any do you have to be able to issue subpoenas and have meaningful oversight be done? I think the biggest thing we do is we each have a pulpit. And we can talk about things. That's why I think what's going on in the house right now is you're starting to see a lot of people out there being vocals. That's the biggest thing. And I plant my plan. They say rescue America dot com. I think everybody ought to say, this is what I believe in, and let's fight over what the right answer is. That's one. Number two is we won't be, you know, the way the committee structure works, the Democrats will control the committee's side. It's a public demand that we really have better understanding of what Joe Biden and Hunter Biden's relationship was with China. The Democrats are going to have to do it. So I think the key is, we need to get out there, talk about the issues and put the Democrats in position. There's going to be, I think, what, 24 Democrats up this next cycle, they're going to have to start worrying about their elections. So I think we have to be constantly out there. So I can propose bills. I can push things on committees. I can ask the federal government for more accountability accountability. So like yesterday, I talked to secretary orchestra Homeland Security about 400% increase in migrants in the Florida keys. Now, I'm going to be very vocal that it's his job to fix it. I think he is misrepresented or lied whatever you want to call it. Where we are on the border. But I'm going to hold him accountable. He'll come and he'll be coming to talking for a committee. And I'm going to ask him, how he's doing. I'm going to do that with everybody. That's what every senator has the option to do this. We just all have to be very aggressive at doing it.
Rick Scott Shares His Plan to Build Consensus Among Conservatives
"Then your plan? Because you're not given up to build a consensus amongst members and amongst the grassroots to challenge McConnell again and I don't even mean the policy plan senator. What is your plan to be able to navigate that country club that calls itself the U.S. Senate so that you could become Senate leader from raising money or to messaging, is that something you're still going to go after in the next year and a half, two years or what is your, what is your current risk? Absolutely. And I'm not giving up. Good. Charlie, I'm not giving up. And here's the way I think about the Senate. So look, there's I need every Tuesday we're in session. With Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Ron Johnson, Mike Braun, right? We get together and we say, what are we going to do to make sure that we hold government accountable? Watch our dollars. And so there will be more as we do this more and more. There's going to be more. But do you know what the real key is? It's you. It's the public. There are going to demand their senators to do what they committed to them when they ran for office. Look, I'm simply reflection on my state. So I represent I tell people, I represent Florida. Look, I'm not going to tell you how you should vote. So where do you voted for me on a platform? I said, this is what I'm going to do. 8 years to watch me as governor, I paid off a third of the state debt. Paid it off. I balanced a budget every year. I didn't borrow more money. I fixed the pension plan. I fixed our prep the insurance plan. They said, I said, this is where I'm going to do in D.C.. I'm going to try to do the exact same thing. I'm a business guy. I'm a fixer upper. I
Senator Rick Scott Discusses His Challenge to Mitch McConnell
"Think that Mitch McConnell has got to go and he has done some real damage to our country, the omnibus is just the latest example. Walk us through your current plans, your calculus, and what do you think is the state of Senate Republican leadership? Well, I ran against Republican. I ran against Mitch McConnell because I think we have to have a new direction. I mean, probably one of the best examples is omnibus or two weeks away from have Republican leadership in the house and we let Nancy Pelosi instruction were right and I'm in this bill and then Mitch McConnell supported. Votes for it. And that's wrong. I mean, that's not we didn't get rid of the IRS agents with it. I mean, there's nothing, I mean, there's a good spending power. There's something good probably in the Bill. It was logical. But we've got 31 and a half $1 trillion worth of debt. It didn't have Republican priorities had Democrat priorities in there. And so I wanted a new direction. And I'm going to keep fighting for a new direction. We've got a great Republican Party out in around the country. We got to start having the Republican Party in D.C., which we don't. Stop taking into the Democrats. And China Bill, the gun Bill, the infrastructure Bill. All those were just caves, the Democrats. It wasn't Republican priorities. Those were Democrat priorities. And I think we've got to change this party. If we want to win elections, we've got to say, don't just do what some people want to do and say, well, the Democrats are bad, which they are. You're going to say, but this is what we're going to do and we're hell bent on doing it.
Andy Mangione: The Hypocrisy of Joe Biden Is on Full Display
"I got to play this clip for you. This was Biden with Scott pelley on 60 minutes, not long ago. You saw the photograph of the top secret documents laid out on the floor at Mar-a-Lago. What did you think to yourself? Anyone could be that irresponsible. How could anyone be that our irresponsible, Andy? Mike, I can't help but think that there's a little bit of delicious you reap what you so sentiment in all of this. What we're seeing is the abject hypocrisy and corruption of the Biden administration in general and attorney general Merrick Garland in particular. This is the Keystone cops of presidential administrations on full display for the American people to see Mike. That will be now see an FBI raid on Joe Biden's residences in search of these classified documents. That president's already been set. But the Democrats run the Department of Justice Mike, so we're not likely to see that they would do anything to damage to this president. Now, if anything, the Biden administration may not realize just how much political capital that they've deposited into the accounts of their many competitors, namely one Donald J Trump.
Rep. Scott Perry: Joe Biden Had No Authority to Declassify Documents
"Biden had no authority whatsoever to classify or unclassified documents. And by the way, every single as a guy who held a top secret security clearance for over three decades, every one of us knows that if one of those classified documents in your care is mishandled, miss stored, whatever you want to call it out of the chain of custody, you're going to jail. That's what we all know. And so this is a very, you know, look, it's another day where we wake up in America and you see two standards of justice. One for those who are connected who say the right things to the right people and one for the rest of us who live in fear of our government, you know, President Biden had no problem out there scoring former president Trump for what he calls the mishandling of classified documents or the irresponsible way in which they are taken care of. I remind everybody that the archivist and the federal government at large knows every document that president Trump has. They have an argument of a whether he should have it or not. But here's what they don't have Todd. They don't have an argument over how it's stored because it's stored in a secure compartmentalized information facility. That's the long version of stiff. That's where those documents are stored across the federal government. That's where they are seeing. That's where they are red. That's where they reviewed. And that's where they must be maintained unless you have courier orders to remove them. And so it's apples and oranges in the way that both presidents are being treated. One is being persecuted, essentially set up for an argument. The other one has broken the law for apparently about 6 years now and now the mainstream media, which is that you will just forget about it and act like it didn't happen at the same time you're supposed to demand that they throw the former president in jail over a dispute. And
New York Republicans call on new GOP Rep. Santos to resign
"Local Republican leaders in New York on Wednesday called for the immediate resignation of new GOP congressman George Santos, who responded that he won't resign. The call by more than a dozen Republican lawmakers in Nassau county for George Santos to resign was an extraordinary rebuke of the freshman congressman. He's not welcome here at Republican headquarters. County Republican committee chair, Joseph Cairo. And we do not consider him one of our Congress people. Santos is facing multiple investigations over his personal and campaign finances and lies about his resume and family heritage. Republican Hempstead supervisor Don clavin. He's a national joke. He's an international joke, but this joke's got to go. And is on us calling him for to resign immediately. Santos on Capitol Hill flatly rejecting the call, speaking with ABC News, Rachel Scott. And tweeting I will not resign. I was elected to serve the people not the party in politicians. However, Santos is constituents have also been calling for him to resign. Julie Walker, New York.
Twitter Censorship and the Covid Vaccine Debate
"The latest drop of the Twitter files comes from the journalist Alex berenson now. I've had Alex on the show some months ago now. And Alex has been focused on science reporting and of late specifically on reporting about COVID. And what's kind of interesting about these Twitter files is that Twitter files involve Alex themselves. So it's particularly appropriate that he be the one to blow the whistle on it. And I think Elon Musk is being very clever, very strategic. Matt taibbi, Barry Weiss, and now Alex Alex berns and there have been a couple of others as well. Now, this story begins with a guy named Scott gottlieb and Scott gottlieb is a director of Pfizer, Pfizer, the medical company. And he's kind of a big name on Twitter. He has about 550 thousand Twitter followers. In any event, it turns out that he sees a tweet gottlieb does. And he goes, wow, this is a tweet that may not be good for Pfizer. This is a tweet that might hurt Pfizer mRNA vaccine sales. And the tweet was from, yeah, it wasn't from some activist, wasn't from Robert F. Kennedy, junior wasn't even from berenson. It was from doctor Brett giroir, a physician who also had been himself as gottlieb was head of the Food and Drug Administration. And the tweet was not an anti vaccine tweet. In fact, it ended by saying get vaccinated, but the tweet went on to say, hey, listen, it says that the. Immunity that you get from the vaccine may not be as great as natural immunity. In fact, natural immunity provides more protection than vaccine immunity. Now, this is, in fact, a, an accurate statement by doctor Gerard. And in fact, the doctors cited a prominent study, a peer reviewed study that showed this. So it wasn't just that he was claiming it. It was that he was documenting it, and it's not even that Scott gottlieb disagreed with him. Start Scott gottlieb agreed that the factual statement being made was true.
Joe Biden: 'How Could Anyone Be That Irresponsible?'
"Wow, it wasn't that long ago that Joe Biden appeared on 60 minutes and Scott pelley asked the president about the Mar-a-Lago raid and the classified documents found in Trump's home and Joe Biden said, how can how could anyone be that irresponsible? How could anyone be that irresponsible in lo and behold, look what they found? Classified documents in Joe Biden's personal office at the University of Pennsylvania. It's different now though, right? 'cause it's Biden. Now it's not that big a deal. Gosh, how many times can Trump get vindicated? I swear it feels like I've said this for years. It's like some kind of Supernatural force protects Donald Trump. He could fall down in a pile of you know what? And just come out smelling like daisies. Over and over and over again, Trump gets exonerated Trump gets vindicated, the things that people think, oh my gosh, that's just a bridge too far. Classified documents, he took classified documents from The White House, and now the Department of Justice is evidently investigating Joe Biden for the very same thing. Now I'm not real confident in anything that will come of it. But we're aware of it,
The latest in the NFL
"NFL week 18 roundup on Dave fairy. The eagles have rewarded themselves for a 14 and three season. Here's Michael the wongo. We worked really hard to be where we are now. We've overcome a lot. We've been through a lot as a team and as individuals. Davis Webb, right for one touchdown through for another for the Giants. The Seahawks are playoff bound as Jim Bernard reports. First, the Seahawks did their part by outlasting the Los Angeles Rams in the 1916 overtime victory, then the Detroit Lions did theirs by beating the Green Bay Packers. Gino Smith overcame two Jalen Ramsey interceptions and passed for 213 yards and a touchdown while Kenneth walker rushed for 114 yards. The dolphins have extended their season. Denny cap has details. Three Jason Sanders field goals are all the dolphins need to squeak into the playoffs and beat the jets 11 to 6. Sanders kicked the game winner from 50 yards out with 18 seconds left, and a battle of third string quarterbacks it was rookie 7th round draft pick, Skylar Thompson, who did just enough to send his team to the postseason. Seeing a win and feeling a win is important and especially going into the playoffs. Going to buffalo, which is a very good football team. We're going to be confident. Thompson completed 20 to 31 for a 152 yards and no interceptions to help the dolphins snap a 5 game skid. The Bengals beat the ravens 27 16 to avoid a coin flip for home field when the two teams meet again in the AFC playoffs next weekend. Cincinnati scored touchdowns off three first half turnovers by quarterback Anthony Brown. Joe burrow was 25 of 42 for 215 yards one touchdown and no interceptions. If he didn't win this one, I guess technically we would have won the division, but wouldn't have felt like it. So it's good to get this one. We're going to have to play better next week to get the win. Especially me. The bills played inspired ball less than a week after teammate demar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during a game. Gene battaglia reports. On a day filled with emotion, the Buffalo Bills won the regular season finale against New England Patriots, 35 to 23. Naim Heinz buffalo returned the opening kick-off for a touchdown. It also get another kick-off return for a score. Bill's quarterback Josh Allen says, after seeing that opening play, he knew it would be their day. I can't remember a play that touched me like that. And I don't think in my life. Buffalo finished the season at 13 and three, and now they are the second seed and will host the Miami Dolphins in the wild card round. Ryan leong was at the forty-niners, went over the Cardinals. For the first time in franchise history, the forty-niners ended the season on a ten game win streak after convincing 38 to 13 win over the Cardinals. The forty-niners are locked in as the number two seat in the upcoming NFC playoffs. Brock purdy was 15 of 20 for a 178 yards and three touchdowns. We look at it as a challenge, but we're also excited because it's like, man, if we do play to our full potential, it's like, what else could we do? So those are the kind of things that we ask ourselves every day and we're excited about, but I'm excited moving forward for being on a win streak. In the final game of his career, JJ watt had two sacks and 5 total tackles, but the Cardinals lost 7 straight to finish at four and 13. The bears were 29 13 losers to the Vikings, and the Texans earned a 32 31 win over the colts. That means the bears will have the number one pick in the draft for the first time since 1947. The Houston win didn't stop the team from firing head coach levy Smith. In other games, the falcons beat the Buccaneers 30 17. The commander silenced the cowboys 26 6 that the anthers were ten 7 winners over the saints. The Broncos topped the Chargers 31 28 Pittsburgh down Cleveland 28 14, but missed the playoffs when the dolphins won. I'm Dave ferry AP sports.

We're upstairs here that he be in theater downstairs in the theater, which is a heavenly little theater. I mean, just like made for this kind of a thing. We taped the four shows. We had an array of stunning guests. The shows were edited and basically we're trying to figure out who is going to air it and how we're going to do that. But in the meantime, somebody thought, hey, now that these shows are edited, why don't we put them up at Salem now dot com? Yes. For free. Freeze. You understand? Free Salem now dot com. I'm not positive. I hope it's not free. No, I'm serious, like, this cost us a zillion dollars to produce. But the guests are like, Danny Bonaduce of the partridge family, George Hamilton, Carol alt, Vincent pastore from The Sopranos. Ron Howard, John Cleese. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Welcome back, we're talking about Thanksgiving surprise. We're talking about Thanksgiving with the author of rediscovering America, Scott Powell. He's a fellow at the discovery institute in Seattle, and has written a wonderful book called rediscovering America from which he's written this article. You can find at the federalist called why Thanksgiving is as relevant today as it was for pilgrims for centuries ago. So what other reasons do you give Scott Powell for the relevance of this event that happened for centuries ago? Well, in terms of the qualities of character that the pilgrims had, I think, another important quality that we need to rediscover and strengthen is tolerance, these were very tolerant people, they got together with non believers. They lived together on a ship for over two, and then when they got to the new world, they found themselves. Making relationships with Indians that accepted them. Well, if they were when you say they were tolerance today, tolerance has become an unpleasant cliche, what we really mean, obviously, is that not that we allied our differences, but we respect those with whom we disagree. And that the pilgrims certainly respected those with whom they were traveling, who were not of their faith. And then the way they dealt with the local with the Native American tribes of that area, it is a model, really. It's an amazing, amazing story. Squanto, of course, is at the center of it, massasoit. But we see so little of that in the centuries ahead, of course, starting with the incredibly bloody king Philip's war. So it really, they really were a model of toleration. And I think it's important to say that that is a Christian virtue. In other words, you believe what you believe, but you also love those with whom you disagree and you treat them the way you would want to be treated. And the pilgrims did this and it's an amazing thing because we're always talking about the black marks in our book of these mistakes and these sins. They really were, they were exemplars of Christian love and charity, no question. And to illustrate that point, Eric, the pilgrim community, learned that massasoit had fallen ill that he was on his deathbed. In Edward Winslow, one of the senior elders who had experience with medicinal herbs and taking care of people when they were sick. And he was also, you know, he was also one of the spiritual leaders. He immediately decided that he was going to go the 40 miles to see if he could get to mass a soya before he died. 40 miles walking is generally at least two day trip. And that's if you don't get lost. Anyway, he did this before scooters were invented. No, actually, when you say 40 miles in those days, that's, yeah, that's kind of an amazing journey. And he decides really out of the goodness of his heart to pay a visit to massasoit. So please continue. So he gets there. He administers his herbs and his broth in praise over massasoit and remarkably massasoit recovers and he's almost fully recovered within a couple of days. And what he said was now I see the English man are my friends and love me, and I will never forget this. I don't know if the exact words, but they're in the they're in the book. So it was really quite remarkable that these very different people could have this relationship, not just the peace treaty, but the personal relations. And you know, Thanksgiving was amazing because this is after the first winner, right? It was the first harvest that it was a meager harvest. And they invited the Indians to join them by this time the pilgrims numbers have fallen slightly below 50, I believe, and they assume, well, they're not going to show up with more than 50 Indians, but they didn't specify. Well, anyway, over a hundred Indians show up to celebrate, Thanksgiving. But it's good that they did, because they brought food, you wouldn't believe. They had 5 deer that they had shot. They had foul that they had shot, they had all kinds of food enough to last three days. The first Thanksgiving was a three day festival. And this is before the Indians understood that veganism was morally superior. I got to tell you, when you think about this, this amicable celebration that they would bring food that they, there's a reason we celebrate this. This is an absolutely astonishing moment in our history. It's beautiful. It's amicable, and as you said, it lasted 50 years, this kind of relationship, this respectful relationship lasted 50 years. It is as anomalous as anything in our history, because as we know, things didn't go so well after this. It gets very complicated, very hostile. But it really was beautiful. You talk about the pilgrims, the Mayflower compact, which was their governing document touch on that, and then in the next segment I want to talk more about that. We've kind of gone out of sequence a little bit. But the Mavs are a compact, was drafted on the Mayflower off Cape Cod, went before they had even set foot on land. And they didn't know they knew that they were way off course, I mean, they didn't have even a term of Massachusetts. And the ship was, there was a lot of insolence and unrest. So the elders of the pilgrims decided, look, we've got a stay together. We're going into perhaps hostile land. We don't know what's ahead of us. So they drafted up this short document, the Mayflower compact that called for everyone being equal, everybody looking out for each other's back and that there would be a consent of everybody. So it was a wonderful document that was the government government by the consent of the.

"Yeah, now this is great. This is why we celebrate turkey day. And thank you for that, Eric. Exactly. So I think that I'm just going to such a wise guy. Just for that, I'm having ham. I'm having him. But I want to say that in our one today, I'm telling the squanto stories. Now, if you want to read that, if you have a copy of my book, I wrote a children's book on squanto. Actually, I wrote two children's books on squanto. The first one I wrote for rabbit ears. I wrote a lot of children's books for rabbit ears. But they kind of took the God part out of my telling of the story when I wrote it for rabbit ears. So it's an otherwise wonderful book. They made a beautiful video, but they kind of took the God part out a little bit. And I said, someday, I'm going to write a book where I put that back in because it's at the heart of the whole story. So I put it in a book called squanto in the miracle of Thanksgiving, published by Thomas Nelson, Tommy Nelson. But I also write about it in my book if you can keep it. Some of you already have a copy of if you can keep it. And I tell the story, it's an amazing story in the next segment or in one of these segments. I'm having a conversation with Chris Hines about what is the squanto story because it is a miracle from our history, an astonishing miracle from our history. And I remember when I was doing the research on this, I mean, this was literally, let's see. I did the original research on this. It must have been like 1991. And somebody said, oh, you're talking about the story about squanders for rabbit ears. And I remember maybe I repeat this when I talked to Chris about this because we recorded the conversation that I'm having with Chris heims, we did a few years ago. But I'll never forget doing the research and thinking, well, I'm going to go to the original documents. So there's an old pilgrim document called mort's relation, there is something by what William Bradford wrote. So I'm looking at these original documents and piecing together the story of squanto. And I remember when the lightbulb goes off, and I said, this is a miracle. Yeah. And the other children's books and stuff didn't really mention that. They act like it's some coincidence. Yeah. And when you understand what happened, you go, this is a flat out insane, miracle of God. There's no way around it. And it's at the very heart of the beginning of what became the United States of America. And what I was so astonished by, is this happened to me a number of times over the years in the research and my books when you get this moment. And you think, how is it possible that no one else has seen what an astonishing miracle this is. And when you call it a coincidence, or you just kind of relate it like, well, these things happen. It's like, no, no, no, no, no, no. This doesn't make human sense. This is crazy. And this allowed the pilgrims to survive and to stay there because of this miracle of squanto, and then by the way, folks, because the pilgrims stayed and didn't go home, suddenly you have others coming, and then you get the Massachusetts bay colony, and you get John winthrop talking about a shining city on a hill. And you get all of this stuff follows this miracle. So if you don't believe in miracles, I challenge you to familiarize yourself, and if you want things to this and this is our two, Scott Powell comes up next and he's talking about why Thanksgiving. So why are we even separated? That's right. So today we have I talked to Chris heims. I tell the squanto story and then we've got some other crazy stuff there in our two.

I am sitting here right here in the studio with, I don't know, I never know how to pronounce people's last names, Scott stribling, stripling, yes, sir. Then I did know how to pronounce it. You know, you're an archeologist, obviously, but in case people don't know, a recent article came out. This is what made me think I've got to have you on to talk about this. It's about a so called curse amulet discovered from about 1200 BC, big deal stuff, ladies and gentlemen. Big deal, excavation, archeological news. But you got to be clear, the provost at the Bible seminary in Houston and you're the director of excavations for the association for biblical research. Currently at Shiloh. Shiloh is one of those names out of the Bible like, really? Shiloh. So big. How often how much time do you spend being an archeologist? How much time do you spend in Houston, which is your home? And how much time do you spend in the field in Israel? I'm in Israel, Eric, for about three months out of the year, two months in the summer excavating, and then back and forth for various projects and to speak at conferences and stuff during the year. And the rest of the time I'm in Houston, we have an archeological institute at our school. And so I oversee that as well..

"While rivian was busy working on this hood problem, they kind of stepped back and said, hey, man, the high cost of this, the high cost of that. We're going to Jack up the prices on reservation holders that haven't taken delivery on their vehicle. So this is why in the beginning of the podcast you were asking me if I had any sort of a pricing agreement, and I was thinking back to some of the four dealers pulling some similar things. This is, okay, in the way that. Ford handled theirs and the way that rivian is handling, there's their kind of different rivian was doing this at a corporate level at the top, right? The four discovered some dealerships trying to change prices at the dealer level. And they made this price announcement like what, like right at the beginning of March, that they were going to do a price increase. Is that right? That's right. 12,000 plus dollar increase to current reservation holders price of their vehicle. And some of these reservations or you get a smaller battery. Correct. Yeah, it's crazy, man. Which is not neither one is okay. In my opinion, but some of these went the reservation holders go back as far as 2018. And so he got a lot of flack over that. RJ Scotts is RJ. He's very hands on with his fans out there, his customers. He tweets a lot. I've said it before. I like this guy. I like the way he runs his business. He's transparent. He's not going to run from problems. I think that this is one of those situations where he heard loud and clear, and he kind of he backed off on the price increase. Good for him, right? He basically applies. Let's see, I'm looking at his note here. The letter? Yeah. Well, I can give you verbatim here. He says, cost of the components and materials. Right. As they work to update the price and reflect the cost of those material increases, they wrongly decided to make these changes apply to all future deliveries is what they say. It's your fault for taking this long after you set the price to get them into production. And I'm not saying, you know, you've got to give these things away to loss. But that's not your loyal investor, people that are putting in pre orders. That's not their fault either. Yeah, but you know what, but you know what? What RJ says? This is what I like. And again, this is why we like this guy. I said, I think that companies like this are going to be successful. If you want to gain my trust, you got to deal with me the right way. And he listened to his customers. He says, in his letter, he says, while this was the logic and the logic that he's talking about is crunching the numbers on the high cost, the cost increases to them as a company. We got to pass this on. He says, well, that was the logic. It was wrong. And.

"Would come to gay bars and if i was performing a bar and saint louis or something there would be guys who were driven. Who drive for like two hours from the middle of nowhere illinois or missouri. Just to come to a gay bar like. Yeah because there wasn't an there wasn't anything in their area and i would be like. Oh he came for me but no. That's what i'm saying. I'm like and that's what i said you wake up early meeting. You're not gonna wanna do. That necessarily are not gonna wanna weeknights. Yeah maybe we want like one weekend. You let me outside of here. That's what i mean by having sustaining sort of almost digital sexual relationships with people in other parts that you can find on the apps and other parts of the country and even world and that way then on the weekends you can satisfy a need that you need and maybe even meet someone who would be willing to drive to use on weekends or some weekdays or whatever could find the. There's a but but have that that digital outlet during the week that you can have that connection. Here's a here's a question. So this cop who is. I don't know what i don't know if he's bi or gay. Whatever his situation is. He's repressing it in some way right because he is having secret relationship. I don't know how much he's repressing it. As much as just being allying douchebag right. yeah. But i'm just curious like how do you have any thoughts about how zander ken break it off without like. I'm just trying to think about like to me. That person could become volatile right. I mean yeah. I i think i think him showing up with a parent teacher. Conference is means. It's broken off like that's my question. I'm like what happened since you sent this. But the way zander's said he was like. Should i leave it alone. Which implies that maybe he hasn't left it alone like the baby. If these guys are if these guys are anything like some of the guys. I used to back in the day. Like on the dl. They they're if they find something good meaning readily readily available sex or thing that they can satisfy that scratch than etched then they will keep coming back so so zander will have to at some point ignore the tax leave him on red liam alone. Let him be there and the he is i mean he i don't i here's a police officer which that's me implying alive. Because i don't he might be a nice person. I don't know but like he does have a lot of baggage. That zander doesn't need to deal with in this new city as the awesome teacher and his school like he doesn't need this baggage he doesn't it would be a dream for him to may to marry that local gay cop. You know what i mean like. That would be awesome. But like that's not gonna happen and so he's just ignore this person and if this person won't take him being ignored if he won't get the hint that he's being ignored while andrew's going to have to be like listen. This is not gonna work and this is why xyz and then make you have that manila folder with a. You need to save that shit. The killer is out there. I mean and i will say this. I mean look because he said they went on some dates like they were so they had sex though. No but i'm saying like miss the cop you coming zander school classroom before you came cop. I gave you all the clues. I'm just even like that. Where i'm like. You should have like did it. But did the cop did. The guy know that he was going to a parent teacher conference. Do you think look like new. I don't i don't think he did. I think he would have figured out some way to get out of that. Those guys. oh a someone shooting than downtown gotta ago. Those guys are you. I don't think he knew at all because those are the ones who want to protect their secret app. All fucking costs and we know cops love secrets and so like there's no way he's going to walk into that just for fun unless it's off on the humiliation which there are people who get off on that yet now. I doubt with his kid and wife there. But you also think you would use a sub nail. I know it's not bad. But i mean like. Don't bring your child up here this child just trying to do some math here bring bringing hideous sexual games. I wonder if you'll sorry for the cat. Feel sorry for the wife to to be honest. But i think that yeah. I would assume as you said from your suit. It is over. Because i can't imagine why hymns especially like as you said tuesday. Andrew teaches kid so reliability zander's ability for this guy's livelihood so he's a liability for zander. Because if the ender does one thing this guy doesn't like or the guy feels like his secrets are threatened He could say maybe the town doesn't know zander's gay who knows right or like the school like who knows why things andrew out i mean. We heard the voices andrews out. Zander is a home. Ou- out your proud and i love it and i love it and you should. Dm me. and i will say i love you. Thank you for what you're doing. You're not getting nudes. But i think sandra's totally out and that's why he's awesome. This is the world on creating zander. Right we love coming to the small town. Whatever and he's like. I'm going to teach the children here. What they need and it goes and and he is just this out representation of like what this future can be for some of these kids who might feel alone in a moment and zander. Is that teach even at that. Kid can't say anything zander. Zander is the representation. So i think sandra's should just stand there teach that class. Give those kids and a police officer. You don't wanna come near this because guess what. This is a pride parade here. We are think. Oh by god andrew. Please keep us up to date and we do. I want to know more. I would've we love on the show and it's called a follow up. We do feel free. Any like dm voicemail again wanna know h how he got time for one more time. I have all my house another ten minutes all right. This is another voicemail. I thought would be good. It's about standup. So i've been into it all right here. We go hey. This is l. d. pronounce. She her I was just calling. Because i just Did my second opening night and I just wanted some advice in the comedy realm. I really wanna right. But i know you have to do stand up to get in the world or whatever so yada yada yada. I'm and gay jokes. That are black or gay and sometimes both and sometimes the crowd will be with me. And then i'll say one of these jokes and then they just i just get stairs and i don't know if they aren't you know connected to the mature like they can't relate or if it's just not funny.

I just got one today where they had to call three times and even on the third time they got cut off and then. Dm das i was like hey got cut off. Here's the actual question. So we wasn't even a question nine minutes they couldn't didn't like it wasn't like continuous just started over each time. Oh i thought it was like how have you ever broken up with someone over the voicemail that that's when you need an extension of more than three minutes sex and the city episode. Save it for the reboot. Everyone all right and just like exactly. This is a voicemail. I saved this one just for you. H allen all right here we go. Hey naomi and andy huge and here love what you guys. Do you give me life. Every time i listen to you guys My name's zander. I recently moved from the big city of cleveland to a small town in kansas Started kind of meeting people on. You know the dating back. So i am a home of course so So the pool and you know. The kansas towns aren't big of course But give me a seemingly nice guy and went on a few dates over the course of a few weeks and pretty much you know was dating and about a month into it. I got a nice teaching job at one of the schools here and one of the nights. We have parent teacher conferences. And another shows up with one of my students and lo and behold who walks in but the guy that i think going on all these dates with who is also a local police officers so needless to say the whole parent teacher conference was slightly awkward with me and him kind of glancing at each other. Like don't you dare say anything type of feel to it. I guess what i'm asking or wondering is do i. Just i'm not about the home record. And if i had known i would've never even gone on these dates course But i did grow to like this guy and build. But i thought was trust in a relationship and now i'm just wondering do i just let it go just kind of disappear. Which of course makes it hard with the student being in class or i mean. Obviously i don't bring anything up to the wife because that's a whole nother issue with everything and worried about my job in jeopardy all that good stuff Any advice any tips If i'm just being stupid. And i need to cut this off asap. Please just give me that turtles Thank you guys much everything. Love you guys. you've done what you're doing okay. This is my favorite lifetime. Movie guys. sandra in egypt's give the same voice mail to my other podcasts. I'm obsessed with you is zander. Is anderson zander. Yeah i found is at zander to. Yeah oh my god well okay go. Should i start star. Yes okay. I the i fully agree first off. I want him to write this down in like an email so that we can turn it into a pitch and like don't like this needs to be so the first thing that i have to say is good for you for like moving. Have being brave enough to move into a small town and like be a teacher and like do those and have have a teacher who is queer in a city that in a small. I don't know what city you're in. But in a small city because that is like so fucking commendable so needed we need different marginalized sort of different types of people different different races different sexuality different genders of people teaching in small communities because there is going to be a queer kid there or maybe a police officer who is going to need that representation in that community. So that is like he's doing the lord's work. I commend him so much for that. That said only god. This sucks like this first off. Screen shot every single screen shot. Make sure you have everything you need. Because as wendy williams you always got to keep an eye out for the killer. And he's a killer. But i'm saying that you need to have some background. He yes yes he can. He can play evidence on your house. You'll car next to you murder. You didn't say hey. Look if we're if we're going down this path not just save it all printed out. Put it in an envelope and give you a lawyer. Say if you don't hear from me. Or if i'd have opened his yes yes very time to kill yet call you also also to check in with the lawyer once a week or that or the worst us. Yes it goes. The lawyer put it online to call every friday at two pm with a code word that is just this is such like and i also kind of feel bad for the cops. Even though he's a total douchebag for lying and not representing himself properly and not just being honest. You know what i mean like. I feel like the sandra guy. He sounds like a really nice guy. He probably would have had empathy for him if he was a closet. Marriage that he knows is not good and all of these things but instead he put on the charade like took this poor guy with them. So you know. I feel bad for him but at the same standard. Get away from that like and i hope you teach like younger kids. So that the that kid be like in middle school and you had to deal with these parents ever again just a few short years or something. 'cause like just drop him even the small pool of people in kansas like either. It's there's there's there's so many different ways that we can have relationships right now so many different types of relationships that like short they might not be in the same city but like you can communicate and have really sort of sustaining relationships with people in all over the country. Zander wants to have since. I know he doesn't tell have sex message. You can still have sex and have an emotional connection with people in other parts of the country to like what i'm saying is it doesn't necessarily have to be a one body one person in your bedroom all the time like if you live in a small area that there is a lack of availability for that you have to think creatively sometimes in order to mentally sustain. You know what i mean. Okay yes. I do know what you mean. I also wonder this too. When you're saying going on the apps and youtube and and i wonder if this happens like can you post on an app like looking for friends or down like not because a part of like i think maybe instead of finding oops i mean some people and they could lead you to more go find community. Nannu start to me. I mean go. The looking for friends often is means just hookups. Like that's the code word. That's usually what it means that way you can tell. They're not looking for a relationship that said that he is away. And i have many friends that i found through the apps over the years that i'm still very friends with today that that they just became really good friends. It started out with sex which is very much the gay. Hello and then you move into you. Know brunch with you know hanging out in the future for the rest of your life and like that's the but that said that's a privileged urban area mentality and where zander is. I'm sure he doesn't have necessarily know he doesn't have a lot and look. You're a teacher. Sunday your early and stuff but the other thing i know from you know. Suburban life is for a lot of driving hours in a big deal. Yeah it is but like if you live in a small town in kansas you may drive two hours to target lewis people would come to gay bars and if i was performing a bar and saint louis or something there would be guys who were driven. Who drive for like two hours from the middle of nowhere illinois or missouri. Just to come to a gay bar like. Yeah because there wasn't an there wasn't anything in their area and i would be like. Oh he came for me but no. That's what i'm saying..

But i don't feel like you have to have to say something and that you know i'm like i said i'm a traditionalist and in the lyrics the album it says waves right. Yeah in my head. I'm like are waves. Mean he wrote it you know yeah almost every time if you see him live. He says sways gaffe. So maybe he had a may occult ball or maybe you know he's. He's adapted lyrics to certain songs over time. Anyway i thought it was..

"It was unbelievable on so under appreciated as a as a songwriter musician. Banff just he takes second fiddle any frankly did it with south side as well. Southside and the jukes. I've seen maybe at least nine times. Maybe ten they're fantastic. It is just so much fun. I took my nephew to show. It was under twenty one. I got him in at the time somebody giving tickets and he was like. How would these guys not more popular like i. You know. he's a modern kid. He's just out of college and he's like you stand there unbelievable and they are so i i would go. I would run. cv again. If i could. And now i i saw at first the first round and then i had tickets for the second time he was supposed to play fort worth and he got sick. That was at the very end of the second when he was doing the tour and he got ill and so the show ended up canceling Do you have any live music. Coming up scott So i have a buddy that is very into south side and always gets tickets and i usually get a call Hey man i got four for you know this date. I'll see you then all right. I know sell sides coming to the air Usually comes in salary mass. Which is like north near the new hampshire border on gun. And i wanna say. It's usually in august so i know that there's something coming up i haven't got the call yet but i'm hoping hoping and wishing and praying so I'm looking forward to that. That would be the show. I'd be i'd be waiting for unless i can figure out a way to get to get to new york. It's whether i gaff bullet whether you can put cat. Yeah exactly so i there. We've opened texas opened up a lot and So sara hickman who is retired. She does not perform much anymore. She's a singer songwriter. That started in dallas moved to austin and has performed a lot. She was a few years ago. The official musician of texas We've been friends and fans Her first album in the liner notes. As a long with a you know a couple of dozen other likes thought just to us but to jesse linda and baby because linda was pregnant when the first album came out and she's playing at poor david's pub at the end of the month and so i'm really excited going seeing her. Marcia ball from new orleans is playing in the middle of august here in a little local venue and then In the i believe it's september i'd have to look but I went i bought tickets before the pandemic to see Michael nasima and mickey dolenz the monkeys and the they've rescheduled. That and i'm excited to go see that. I think it's going to be a fun show. So it's nice to see stuff going on like when i was in new york last week..

"Give me a hard time about it. But i can. I can buy the version of the song. I can almost tell where it was when it was just. That's cool I may have asked you this and If you guys have not If you're new to the show I had a friendship month earlier in the year or indiana and and so scott was on with another friend. Scott it was the scott scott show and so Please go back in here that that was a lot of fun. They met in camp and then later became friends. They rediscovered each other and adults. Which i think is just an amazing story. So i may be duplicating a couple of questions. But what about bruce captivating you can you articulate why he became your guy and has remained your guy i will try and you can tell me if i articulate girls so i always loved history and i like trying to think of the word While try something else. Because i can't think of the we're having a senior moment but that's alright. I've always liked sort of team sports. I like the concept of a real band that that gets along not wanna fight. And everybody's got ish you know and i'm sure some of that goes on but you know for the most part. It's a pretty cohesive unit that he's created here because they all care so much And the whole is greater than the some of the parts is he you know the one plus one equals three thing that he stated and i from the very first time i heard almost every song it just hit me like i'm in. I'm sold so love at first sight. You know you just you know when you see it and you know when you hear it but what i always loved was this was a guy that was playing with his friends. The grew up essentially with these guys. Give or take you know in and out a few we were there. And they've stayed true. Tha their their mission. Statement and what they represent and You know. I totally respect the fact. He writes his own stuff. That doesn't mean. I don't like other people that don't write their own stuff. That are just very talented but to me it's just to that next level so to.

Because as a little kid for whatever reason i somehow got into tom jones so gave you tom. Jones was playing a nightclub here in the in the area and my grandfather took us shown took me backstage. I think it was ten. And i met tom jones. He wasn't much taller than me. Frankly but he was great. It was a great show. Hello everyone and welcome to a new episode of set. Glad to see you back. Yeah thank you now. I i do not think the episode where i had. This revelation is come out but I had a guy on the podcast a couple weeks ago. And he started talking about summer camp. And finding bruce springsteen and i said you know i just realized that's a common theme on this podcast and it's funny because Collin who is on the podcast The shoot as we're recording. I released that yesterday. He was from great britain. But found bruce in a. You know east coast. He had gone to america as in a camp like as an internship or something. And that's how he discovered bruce so If i remember correct brightness how you guys discovered bruce yeah you're spot on i as a little kid You know in my neighborhood. There were a bunch of guys and I was kind of the second youngest. So you kinda looked up these older guys. And they all love bruce. And this would have been you know mid seventies dating myself bryant. he's Then i went to overnight camp up in maine in seventy seven when i was nine and you know looking back now. I didn't realize that was you know. Maybe the golden era of know how much. I have loved and done dan if i wrote older but Just got really into it..

Scott some bird and sexy deliveries substance music art and is an artist to watch today. We chat about sunshine. And what's my name. These are two incredible releases heart of his upcoming album to release this year. Enjoy the show. Hi scott thank you for coming on the show. Today's really great that you could spend some time with. Thanks for having me. No that's great. thank you. so you're getting. You're making a lot of noise with the music. You'd sunshine. I was looking on the web site. You've had quite a number reviews. Radio play Need chop. That's this a single. That kinda came about there wasn't supposed to be on the ep. It was a song. That i kinda wrote really quickly and Just kind Threw into the there and But the press said. I've been getting it's been like quite a bit you know. And he's you never really know like what that leads to but But it's been it's been Exciting my end to to see how many logs skipped pick it up and like different countries that cover it in who likes. It doesn't like it. You know it's really. It's not very much genre like it's not just country music so it's a very subjective type style music so they so like it's interesting to see that some people like it and they liked the vibe and and others are like i like it but it doesn't set ni- would covering type of ricky that beginning firm inside box the that's one reason. I like it. But i was doll as music but actually all my notes here. I have genre question question question. I it wasn't it wasn't american. Could be a bit. Folk-rock bit breezy. Amen i was thinking who. Who does this remind me up. I hope your complimentary but it reminded me of america. The band america a name particular justice the best one i felt but i was into it But to me there's floated is conflicted because it's a downbeat but in the back you year sunshine so shy night. Was that intentional. Yeah yeah. I mean like i had this idea ahead of like what i'm hearing you know and It's a small percentage of it like comes out in the studio as you trying to strive for hundred percent. You don't get fully good You kinda roll is like what what is happening in the studio. You know that it starts with the drums right so so we make differently each write the song with it acoustic guitar and i think in in my music on it. There's a. there's a bit of a undecided tension between the dark and the light you know And it it's very you know whether that's you know country music and rock and roll or You know folk music and Yeah by just yeah anyway. I feel like there's there's some type of tension always you know the tween the between the two and That definitely is coming out his song white. This because it's like some dark undertones in a light light hearted like Sixties rock and roll. Kind of five. You know like like the bees or on other band. Slake the animals you know. At that time they were saying you know even the beatles. They're singing a boat dark stuff but they're making pot you know and and i think that's kind of what i was for on this on this track just to I tried to read a positive song. you know. this is my attacks by said it was complected. Surprises spin is always consecutive. I think you know. I'm i'm conflicted. Leah hanson Was the guitarist. One june our winner. How'd you meet up with him. I mean it's a i mean. There's there's good stories here shea kit stores. I met up with him He's he plays in a band called league roles right now currently. And he's currently doing this solo project senate hand on which is about to come off But he's you know he's. He's signed with warner music. canada You know with this other bambi roles and The producer american with aspen beverage. He also plays in the band. You know so so. When i recorded music with the with aspen i had went out to this small town in saskatchewan called pyo pods cash. Right which is like in the middle of nowhere a rails town israel. Town it is. It's accurate there's probably fifty people that live there recorded. It's like old school house so incompetent nineteen hundreds and as decrepit schools so we recorded the album there and You know they were doing legal. Wolves is doing some sessions there too as well and he heard my music you know it came across him and he played on it. You know which was amazing and very grateful for you know And he continues to to play on the whistle with sunshine in particular in the middle Like the the bridge or whatever you call it a keep she lays down some some good leads there and Yeah.

This is going to be a very very revealing co for those who are interested in enfranchising. Don't know necessarily much about it but Scott what we like to do is we. We take a bit. Were bit backwards from the business per se. And we talk about you personally and i'd love to start by asking you being so busy. Is there much time for recreation for you personally and if you do have time for recreation what is it that you like to. There's always time for recreation. One of the things not to jump into my book but wondering out that i write about. It is the value of time if you're too busy to attempt to have recreation whatever that means for you there's something wrong with with the way your life is set up so i do make time for it During the pandemic. I think i've watched everything on that flex So i have enjoyed that when i can like to hike. I love to travel with my family. I love to watch. My son played basketball. So love to hang out i wife.
