Is LSU Handling the Sexual Assault Investigation Well?

"When you when you talk to commissioner it would be interesting if you could just asking if one is he keeping an eye on what's going on in the lsu athletic department and is this something that his office would possibly make a comment on or or or possibly take action on down the line of you'll probably not want to answer that. But i think it would i. I can't speak for him. But i would say that the monitors everything that goes on in the conference especially something like this and it's a shame that you have to have outsider dolts supervisions because at this point. I don't have a warm feeling. That hugh is the -sarily handling this well in. I know you're a big fan of scott woodward but would you not agree. That scott is now on the clock without a doubt. But i will also say this This is not an athletic department problem anymore. This is an institutional issue. Absolutely but it has fallen squaring into scott lap. Because verge ause berry and miriam ziegler person both work for him under his department correct and if he does anything less than fire them i don't think his reputations can overcome this. I know it will be the only thing. I don't know and i'm not. I'm not blindly defending him. Because i haven't spoken to him but i wonder in in light of how this decision in light of the investigation which is clearly in the interim president's hands how the decision was reached for the punishment of these two individuals who made that decision. And that's why at this point you can't come out and condemn woodward and you know crucify right. Is it. i don't think he's actually taken a position. And honestly i would fall on the floor to survived and it was at the behest of scott woodward i i just don't see him as the kind of person moral being to to let that happen. I mean best. It's a dereliction of duty of what those two did at worst it's enabling female abuse because of what they did so pick your point. Ask you a question Someone who lives down there and understands the law. Why do you think the suspension was given in the in the manner. Why why do you think they determine twenty one and thirty days you know. I don't know. And i don't know if there any state employment laws that say if you go past thirty as they have. Some civil service appeal right. No i can't say that Maybe thirty days in a month is just a good round figure who knows twenty one days three weeks. That's the best i can come up with. Not being an expert in louisiana labor law and then who knows what other things they may allege. They may alleged that you know a female minority. You didn't do this to the other folks so we're being discriminated against. They'll get an eeo complain out of the thing who knows. I really don't know. But i think there's a point where as even as a prosecutor if you're cases week but you think well you know a reasonable jury should convict these people leave it up to the jury to make the call and if they make the call then society has spoken and in this case. I think there's just massive outrage that these still have their jobs now. It's a shame that they're the only to post your children left but less miles can't be fired because he was already fired. Joe livas gone and we don't know if he really might be here. On all of this alexander king is gone the lsu supervisors. That's always been a cesspool in louisiana always been assessed pool and i mean at this point. I'm looking around for the moral voice. The moral compass of lsu. And i think you should ask the l. brown to come on and to at least make us feel good about lsu and that they're decent people in baton rouge and and i wanna say angela's done a great job with this recording. I know he's been covering lsu for years and and this obviously just he. He wasn't aware of it was covered up pretty good. Because i think it would have been something rabble would have picked up can see they were great links. Gone to within the lsu athletic department to cover this up. And i think if you had victoria jackson back on your show. She'd have a lot to say about this. Don't you think paul. Maybe we should have her back. I think so. I think she would at least provide some interesting commentary about this and it not just how it applies at lsu. But we didn't know this was going on. At least the fans didn't now of course people in the administration did and that's why we have a scandal today. 'cause didn't handle it properly but you know what's going on at a lot of other schools just intuitively. I would really like to know I would like to know. F king alexander's role in all this. Because he certainly was high and mighty in ripping the sec for playing football while he will oregon state and pac twelve or not and he was also if i remember correctly augie hugging on less miles after they beat texas. Am and clearly. The reason why joe alita had to back down on firing last miles in two thousand fifteen yeah and mossel opinion of joe alita has changed and it just shows you how those of us who are really not in the no. We're really ignorant relying on the media to give us the facts and in this case joe coming out history has proven him to be The good guy in all of this but the other one that i'm sure sitting back just watching it and keeping a low profile and it's glad that people are not talking about last football season. Is it all right and as much as you can say about it. He not at this point any scandals. Lsu and i'll take that any day over with less has given

Notre Dame Lands Marcus Freeman At Defensive Coordinator

"Just ended the last hour talking about the reports. That bo pollini is going to get four. Four million dollar lump sum payoff to to after being fired as the defensive coordinator and there's been a lot of speculation and even some reports that the That lsu was on the verge of hiring. Marcus freeman from the university of cincinnati. But pizza animal has just reported that he is going to notre dame instead of always breaking stories literally as he's coming on the air here pete great to have you on. This was a much watched battle between a number of schools for marcus freeman. Good afternoon and tell us what happened. Well i this is what one of the more public and hotly contested coordinator Tussles that i can recall in In in recent seasons anyway there's been a few a few of them over the years and You know we'll we'll we'll never know only only the only the folks in the grotto will really know How much notre dame has a market because their private but you know. Lsu lsu is ready to pay him Both leaning plus money and You know he went to both places this week. And i think at the end for For marcus freeman. Who is cincinnati. Thirty three might be thirty four year. Old defensive coordinator and the architect of that That great cincinnati defensive wanted this year one the afc and then Loss to george on a last second field goal in the in the peach bowl. I think for for marcus. There was geography and You know there will be some stability right. You got notre dame brian. Kelly is just steady ship there and You know there was a lot attractive. I think about. Lsu they were. I think on for twenty four until defense or some some number that would be easily improved upon with some new blood in better schemes. And obviously they probably have more raw talent down there so i mean really a really a compelling decision for a bright young coach. Call that we're going to be hearing a lot about in the In the next couple of the next couple of years course the next guy will probably not be thrilled to because all the attention was on freeman. But where does she go next. That's a that's a really good question really. Good question You know they they. They made hard shortages at At freeman and he was he was clearly be The target and the guy they wanted. And i i don't know From ahead who. Who were they go next. You know there's a lot of people have preserved our net at mississippi state right now Chain being made around adam this week. There's been rumblings if texas is going to go after in the chris ash Won a national title As buyers defensive coordinator at ohio state six seven years ago. It was the head coach at rutgers in the news at texas last year. And she's got a lot better on defense under wraps. I think that's that's another name right. Now let's That's brewing through the The the defensive coordinator mill show there will There will be options. And if we know and scott woodward they will be addressed.

"Calls when we come back listening to Paul Finebaum show podcast. Welcome back as we continue again. It has been a busy one with Kirk herbstreet at the top talking about the possibility. In his opinion there may not be a college football season. He had grave concern about that. We also talked to Joe Scarborough Mike Luke coming up in the next hour Augie is in New Orleans. Paul is really getting bad here in New Orleans. I have heard I mean I guess the folks who are not taking this seriously a couple of weeks ago or taking it serious. Now I can tell you that But you know the I missed the interview with her with Kirk But I I think this was my worry all along. I mean this a worry compared to a pandemic. Let's be real but I. I don't see how college football is going to be able to make you realistically see a scenario. Their dog back there or something. Hello Yeah I'm sorry I I don't know and and I'm I'm I'm giving you my best. Guess There Augie I think some critical dates are going to be on the calendar though. Well I just again. The advocate had an interview with Woodward and he said that money is worrisome. I mean Scott Woodward now is coming out. He's he's putting a positives but you can read what he's saying you can read into what he's saying they're really worried. Lsu Is really worried about this. And they're not coming out and saying it in those explicit terms but you can you can actually tell from the way yet listed should be. I think we're going to talk to Scott Woodward Early maybe Monday on our show and I mean there's there's there's there hasn't really been a lot of good news lately and I think when I think the biggest concern is starting if there is a great a great fear of not being able to finish. I just think we. We are way too early in the process. I'm just telling everyone is saying to make any determination. Well I'll tell you what the streets look like if you remember that movie Omega Man With Charlton Heston. That's what it looks like out there. Paul he had a great weekend. Some great guests keep working Dale Brown. I think he'd be a great yes? Ti Great Augie thank you very much and And you and I wish nobody here wants to be doom and gloom. I keep getting people say well. Why can't show be like? It was a couple of weeks ago. Well things change with a couple of weeks ago. Yeah no exactly augie. Your it's not the same world in A. We're all hopeful that we'll get back it but right now we're not there we're not even close again reminder. We will be back on television Monday in we will continue talking about what herbstreet said at the very beginning of the show. I thought Joe Scarborough hatchimal thoughts. Mike Luca will join us from New York in a couple of minutes. More of your phone calls..

College Football: South Carolina Is A Ranked Team?

"Ben Ben Bryner joining us. Thanks for the time always great to have you on. We start with the the general question. How is life in Colombia covering the South Carolina gamecocks offered him well. You've got a situation relation readers and fans. They're not too happy. players also not too happy about how things are going and obviously will muschamp from his comments. Yesterday also also not real happy about how things have gone okay. We've established The happy meter is pretty low. I think muschamp said it best. When asked about this weekend being a must win I believe he said they're almost win? but how important is this one. I mean this one is maybe their last chance at one of those mid tier kind of wins because you look at the rest of the scheduled win the really winnable games come down to your vanderbilt your Tennessee your APP state which is probably going to be harder than most people think but it's still a non power five team and if they don't win this one there the chances of a four win season go up pretty dramatically and feels like almost a gap of a four or five win. Season emotionally is is pretty high already not that anyone would be happy with a five win season but that that kind of gap would be a big oneplus. Kentucky is one five in a row in this series and nearly every single time going in it seemed like Kentucky is not been in great shape and then South Carolina's offense. It's just sort of disappears and they come out with another loss. I think you've described it quite well. Let me ask you about the the mood there because someone called in and I believe I read something in your paper. Although it's sometimes difficult to read on your website unless you are a subscriber the raid tanner had comments today. don't know what he said. I assume you do yeah you. WanNa you WANNA you. WanNa local radio here and was was about as positive as you can you can imagine said he still backs. Coach said he's not going to go into his office. closed the door and necessarily say this is unacceptable. Oh he he feels that will jam understand sort of the stakes and understands what's going wrong but obviously you also wouldn't expect a lot of ladies to come out on the radio and just totally trashed their head coach. Even if they were sort of feeling that way they did it would be quite a story and by the way we had one about two years ago Scott Woodward at am came on our show at SEC media spring meetings. Excuse me and pretty much said Kevin someone had to have a big year or allison occurred so my question is why is Ray Tanner doing this knowing that what he says today will probably not be operational or operative in November if the bottom falls out. I think it's a matter I think a lot of that's just just re raise personality I think he he tends to look at things in a very upbeat way and you've got to also remember the former coach and I don't know that he's necessarily a guy that's GonNa you know trump his drop his people and and go out in public and necessarily speak that way because realistically if things were to to go all the way south and the change was made then that change would ultimately I think speaks for itself instead of necessarily him having to sort of lay the breadcrumbs up up to it talking to have been bryner about this situation and then one more thing on on that I believe there is what an eighteen billion dollar buyout. We'll mush does that for all intents and purposes shut down the conversation that he will be gone at the end of the season and it's it's hard to imagine and South Carolina coming up with that type of money to get rid of them agree freedom. I it's interesting. You definitely doesn't shut down the conversation. People are still talking talking about it. People are still asking about it. My my inbox has several emails that literally just have the headline of fire. Must Champ functionally. I think it probably would unless they found some sort of situation where it was negotiated down now. Obviously that would require a coach deciding to do that and usually in America folks. Don't give up that kind of money so I'd imagine is functionally stops that but it isn't gonNA. It doesn't shut that any of the noise okay well. Let's play this game yeah. Well I think we I think we all agree a win. This weekend would calm people down and maybe this conversation the next time we talk. We'll will be more about what happens on the field then off the field but if if Kentucky does this again in win for the sixth grade time let's take a realistic look at the schedule and try to figure out where this ends up landing because US everyone knows South Carolina has already played one of its feared opponents but many more remain yeah. I as you kind of look at it. They have three games that you they've well. They have two games that you'd say would be in the very winnable category your Vanderbilt Tennessee then you have APP state which which obviously is a giant killer obviously in the first year of a new coach and it's still not totally clear if they're what APP state has been. Maybe a little bit down but you've got those three games then you've got to of what we're sort of treated in the beginning of the year as toss ups and now look less so which would be your sex saying them and and your Florida and those if I if you kind of bend your be bent your mind a little bit you can you imagine an upset scenario but those are a very long shot and then you bet clemson and Georgia Georgia on the road pumps and comes down here in Columbia and those are some pretty tough games so you're looking at right now. You're the one in three and if they lose at best every game they're really supposed to. They're going to be They're going to get two seven losses so the question is if they really can right the ship. Could they pull off upsets. Maybe but you know you'd have to really write that ship and then the question would be with those other games. What kind of damage control can you do in terms of what you sense. It's every day Ben Listen. You're there. Were not you talk to fans you hear from fans. You read their responses you hear from them through various mediums and platforms. How would you describe Game Cock Fan Base Right now. I think the majority of them are incredibly not sold. I think that's kind of where this is. This was a team that last year came in with a lot of hype and didn't match it and this was year team that this year came in with sort of the the sense that it was going to be more solid maybe the record wouldn't show it because the schedule was so hard but he was gonna look like a better team and between the way they came out against UNC and sort of the ups and downs that we've seen since it seems like they've kind of lost a lot of people now could a big year. Hold them back sure probably because that's sort of how this works you need a big year and even next year the schedule it doesn't look particularly forgiving because there's no UNC which wasn't supposed to be a big game anyway and and they just trade out Alabama in Columbia for a trip to Lsu so life doesn't get that much easier so if you had to look into a crystal ball which I'm sure you have plenty of it the offices of the state. Where do you see this ending up. I see them winning four to five games depending on how Saturday goes and I still have no great read on Saturday because every time these Kentucky Games happened. I think one is is going to happen and we ended up in a very confusing soon. After I kinda think that buyout just sorta hold and there's a very uncomfortable off-season and then you go into next year and you kind of see how things fall that's what I think right now I could imagine a world in which it spins differently but right now just because of sort of having a former coaches. AD having a guy who lose pretty deliberately having a new school President I think that maybe you just kind of end up in a holding pattern unless things go completely south now if they lose tap state and ended up with three wins that might change things been how bad would it be if three or four wins occurred and and you see the cross state rivals win another the national championship. Oh I think it's I think that's definitely a factor because that team is right there and that team that sort of swung long as quickly as it did with you know a very nontraditional head coach that was hired and then you know you come here and you've got the Wilma Shampoo experiment which has been certainly different because it was taking a guy who struggled at a bigger job and bring him down here. I think it would definitely I think that the Clemson thing is always as in the back of people's minds. Even if you know some folks will try to talk people down and we'll say it's just it's apples to oranges at this current juncture but people don't want to hear that and I think that's always on people's minds then Brian in absolutely fabulous report on the situation in in South Carolina Ben Comeback Soon. Thank you very very much. We'll do thanks for having me great stuff very very realistic report. No sugar coating no cheerleading relating just the truth

"'cause you have to look at on. If you're you have certain areas they've made me a stronger stronger but linebacker in this group and you WanNa take them in the next group then the next year. You say there's not as many guys that you've identified. You know what I mean. You're constantly identifying. I mean you gotta be careful in that but you know you're trying to say. There's a surplus here. There's not a surplus here so might need take more or a great number here more okay who might not need to take as many we can take. We like these three the next year better and I think you gotta play it that way because that way you manager roster when you're trying trying to analyze it's hard enough to analyze the players that are coming in but you're going to three classes away. I mean you're talking about a fairly small sample or are you with the players are exposed to nowadays. It's not a small sample and because of social media and kids get to your place is so much more than the traveling things are. It's a major. It's a large sample. You have seen them watch video at the time and now days on there. I'll be may spend thirty minutes a day or forty minutes down. They know I'm watching videos of players on your computer or something like that or now. You're sitting in that office by hour. After hour. After evaluation nobody talks about the recruiting part of it to me the key of his evaluation and make sure you're evaluating the right guys and and picking the guy that you think fit you because I think we on this side we look we get so hung up on what experts thing and I've always I've asked coaching and you don't want to say it too loudly but you make a decision based on what you see not with other people listen. I love those guys. Jake variety great service but if I have to depend on them to tell me who a player is I need to go get him doing and and we're I've seen fitting in what we need. You had just a really big finish to last season and that was that was important your first year <hes> one thing that has transpired since the end of the season a man who was very responsible for getting their Scott Woodward left and I know that you see this in every field but was that a difficult thing to deal with shocking because I thought we had things going on a really good way but then Scott was a guy who introduced me to a damning and got me interested in that process but once I found out what am had him what it can't be orrick going you know it's been eye opening and the people have been tremendous but you know and there's been all your as long as we have nothing shocks you guys come and go and they move around that that's part of it but I'm extremely happy there and what am has to offer and like I said before I went. I you know a lot about schools. I think it's the best in the country I mean with the resources in Nevada. You have the recruiting base you have and now did you brand name nationally. When you're talking about ACA you're talking about personally academically athletically and in life after bowling at Aggie ring kicks in and the resources largest alumni base in the country's four hundred fifty five thousand alums I mean it is a very unique situation that can be developed at a very very high level? I bet a couple of really good friends out there. I was invited to an event and what really struck me was was the global reach of A._M.. It's unbelievable..

"To ask yourself. I Pacific LSU and Arizona, what do you mean? All ministers talk about integrity. In fact, they fall all over the talk about integrity, and I frankly don't wanna hear it anymore. It's more this idea of integrity, esque or integrity issue. Because now you've got the these things came in on the government's case. It was not the defense that was throwing things wildly up against the wall. The prosecution brought these things in and and when you've got book Richardson, Shaun Miller's former assistant that's talking about specifically Shawn Miller pain players than you have will wait on wiretaps. And that's been reported for months and brought up in court. I'm just asking Zona. What more do you need because I can't see that you need anything more LSU, by the way, also has a new AD, Scott Woodward. So the hired will wage Joa leave is no longer even there, but they have reinstated a couple of weeks ago, they reinstated in which to me was a gutsy decision to make when we know that this trials ongoing, we're about to get all this information. If no one does jail time, and you've done all that. Then. Deterrent is gone. If you look at it and say, it took this much to fire these guys in your someone at a high profile institution who might be doing some of this is they're gonna fire me, then it took them that long to fire, Sean, bleeping Miller or will Wade now is long as people void jail time. The rest of this has served as a means to continue the system going exactly as it's gone. And there is always that question of why why the F B I and berry Pollick is Washington DC based criminal defense lawyer who basically says that the federal government rarely prosecutes crimes instead leaving them up to the states over time. They said, but they there's almost no white collar crime, no economic activity that doesn't use interstate commerce and therefore can't be investigated. The federal government just decide what matters they wanna pursue at what matters that they don't want to pursue. And in this case is basically saying they decided to pursue this for what reasons we a lot of people are still saying, we don't know. But it makes it sound like, yeah, we're going to decide like internet gambling something that they wanted wanna pursue. There's a lot of weird cognitive dissonance in these conversations. It's a lot. "And if they don't spend it, then the budget goes down, so they have to spend it to spend it, and if you're an athletic director in a leave is the only one I know that that that that buck the system, and he did it. He picked the wrong time to do it when he wouldn't pay JIMBO the the money. They just write a check. And that's why you have to get along. I mean, Scott Woodward went to someone at Texas AM. Whether it's the president the alumni, I don't know exactly who he went to listen. We gotta get JIMBO. They said go get him. It's going to cost doesn't matter and you've got UT's still paying which Joe be an analyst. And you know, what I think about that one. Yeah. Well, you you Youtube too. is one of the more backward schools when it comes to getting it. Right. You know, but this, but guess what they did a couple of weeks ago their coach apparently wanted to go to UCLA and. But he couldn't afford to buy out. So they they gave him more money. They gave him nearly two million dollar. Your raise will will. They be better off for probably because they I don't think UT was really in a position to go out and hire a basketball coach immense coach, so. It will pay for itself. More than likely if it doesn't then it'll be another disaster. Out. Yeah. Where is that money? William you live there. Where's that money? Come from. Well, who knows it comes from citizen comes from the state government? He comes from booster that comes from a variety of sources and everybody tries to think that I mean when the us in Tennessee case where they announce well, this wasn't coming from tuition. And I got the impression they were. They weren't swimming in money at the time. And I don't think they are right now. Are they? I don't except maybe some of the ones that are endowed like armored in Stanford. I. See? No, I don't think tennis swimming. I got the impression they were. They were they were desperate. "The Paul I mean when when you look at recent history around LSU, and we can talk about the end of twenty fifteen with less miles than the uncertainty. Everything that happened with JIMBO Fisher at Tom Herman LSU's mismanaged a lot of these situations. The fact that on the same day that Joel livas ouster was announced hours later less than an hour later. It was confirmed that Scott Woodward was in. I mean. It. I you and I have been so many conversations over the years call of situations like this that LSU is not handled. Well, this one was flawless in. Its it's got a lot of people feeling like maybe this is a new day where LSU was moving forward with which seems like a unified direction. What was the last Shroff for Joel Eva? What was the tipping point that got him out of that job and into whatever job? He currently is in. Yeah. So I I it makes so much sense to say the will wait stuff. Right. But at the same time, we'll wait it's been reinstated. And Scott Woodward today said will wait coach a sports one hundred percent. So I think from the periphery that's an obvious one. I just don't think that there was a straw that broke the camel's back. I think so much of it was timing. Call and baby f- to understand how the the political system in Louisiana works. Now politics is intertwined that everything. But the bottom line is there are people. And I don't mean fans, I mean influential people I mean board members I mean boosters I mean people at sometimes operate in the shadows who want to Joe Aleve gone for a long time, and they finally garnered enough support to be able to do it. And I don't minimize it. All the fact that part of it happened because Scott. Woodward was available and willing to come. If Scott wasn't willing to come. I don't know that we're having this conversation today, and let me let me check a few boxes here. I with with will Wade. He's one hundred percent behind him. But what's the next? Shooter drop if there is a shooter drop for we'll wait, right? So that the federal trials going on in New York. It started on Monday. We'll wait and Shawn Miller is we know they will not have to testify which means any potential evidence will not be admitted into court either. That's a win for four. We'll wait so palming save something being leaked potential evidence. So we don't know yet exists being leaked that could be smoking gun or something further than what we already know or pending an NCAA investigation, which very likely will come after this federal trial. Remember that the federal government asked NCA investigators hold off on any investigation until we've completed this this trial. So I I'm under the assumption that the NCAA is going to come snoop around. I mean, it would only logical that they would be calling me another thing to keep in mind. Is that the president of the NCAA is Mark ever? Scott Woodward was Marc Emmers chief Lieutenant whenever it was LSU chancellor. Emmer higher Woodward to be as that flooding director at the university of Washington. I I don't know that that necessarily suggest leniency, but it can't hurt. No, I it can the one thing I think it can do even more than promote leniency is. Emmerick can certainly tip off Woodward to which way this is going. Sure. And there in it's worth mentioning to paulie. They're very close in the sense that Scott son, married. Mark Emmers daughter. I mean, that's pretty cool. I've seen..

"Our three podcast. We're back. The third hour has arrived. And it's been a busy show. Scott Woodward, the new athletic director at LSU starting off force and number of other guests as well. And your phone calls. We'll talk to a couple of players waiting to hear their name Thursday night in the NFL draft that is upcoming here in the next few minutes. Harry is in New Orleans, and you are next up. Hello, harry. Harry you there. I'm with you Paul now, apparently Harry did not connect. Maybe he's a what did he call a freaking? Yeah. Why knee freaking baby? We'll see if we can reconnect with him. Shortly Jimmy is in Tennessee. Jimmy nice of you to join us. We think oh, hey there. Jimmy. On firm believer in life in general that you got to be lucky and you create your own. Pertaining to football. I am very frustrated over the number of instant replays. That we encounter on a daily basis in college football one kick Diller play or Phalle is defensive holding. When the lying does the laundry. That is a defensive coordinator in actually it is a Tokyo's nightmare. For a THAAD yard automatic first down. The often. If we're going to do instant reply, which I am totally against all to gather. Something either lease big banded or totally done away with. You catch my drift? Yeah. I do. But you know, sadly, I'm I'm really not involved in in in the NCWA rules changes. And I want you have a great conversation. I mean, what what can what can be done about it. Well, I personally think that they taking it too far. Okay. Well, let's fair you're entitled to think that and. If you're not on board. I mean, that's fine. But to with the technology today cameras and blowing it pixel down and large in it and flowing it down. That's all good. And well, if they want to get the call, right, but that particular sad, I don't need jump in. There's just nothing. I can do about it. Make sure that the next time. We have an official were director of officials on we discuss it. But for for everyone who doesn't like a certain rule to call up and complain about it. Well, it might be entertaining to you. It probably won't solve too many problems. More importantly, Harry is back in New Orleans. Hello area. Welcome back. Thank you ball. I think that's the first time. It might not have been muscle. Yeah. No. It was our fault. And we we we are going to resign as a result. And it will join the show. Talking about Texas A&_M so much something came to mind. I just wanted to share this with you and SEC AM fans that may not know this is a bit of history, Texas in them had Bill offices serving World War Two than any other military institution in this country. That is great. That is fantastic. I I didn't know that. But I'm not surprised. The only reason though at Paul's missed it on an exam college. But anyway, I on I'm enjoying the show, and I was happy to see the athletic director, the new athletic director on hopefully, you'll get him back when the smoke cleared so to speak. Yeah. Listen today was a big day for him. And he answered what he could. And he dodged what he what he had to. But I have a lot of faith in him. And I think LSU is in good hands, which it needs to be. Thanks, very great to have you on. Let's continue. John is next step in South Carolina on this Tuesday afternoon. Hello, john. Hey, Paul on the guy was terrible radio voice. That makes two of us. I was wondering what you think about this state of sports in general..

"There's a five star Ford out of Alabama. That LSU is considered a leader for was supposed to announce his college decision last week and held off until presumably to see what happened with will. Wait when when you just sort of read some of the circumstantial evidence that's around. I guess it suggests that that that some of these prospects are are still considering LSU's. I the fact that they haven't tipped or or pop for another school is an indicator that. They're not completely off on on LSU. And finally Matt in relation has got word. We're I mean Edwards Ron is expected of a big year the tip asus of last year when he wasn't and did if he does. Well, then I don't think it's really matters. Whatever your answer, isn't this question? But if if things don't go swimmingly for at ores, Ron hat is the appearance of Scott Woodward changed the calculus. Scott made no bones about it today. I mean, he said we will win SEC championships, and we will win championships. I mean, there's there's. There's no misgivings about why he's here and what he's coming here to do. But but you're right about it. He's coming off a ten when season PS two bowl. He found a consensus five recruiting class, and they're gonna be a preseason top ten team right there on on the level of it. I mean, it would have to take a bottoming out for for things to go sideways with football. I mean, if if let's say they're projected to be in that ten win range this year, and they hit eight let's say to go eight four, then I think you could have the conversation going into twenty twenty that it's like, okay? This is a make or break year. I it's really hard for me to see that that come in Paul. I mean, this this LSU football team has about as loaded a deck is they've had in a while. And and they actually have a favorable schedule this year too. I mean, it's it's more likely they build upon the successes of the other year ago said Ed not the guy that the among the the the catalog of coaches at LSU that I think has as much to be worried about right now. We'll make sure we bookmark those comments. I thank you. I said right now there was a caveat. No, listen, I think everyone's thinking the same thing. Which is scary. If you're in LA S fan, always great to have you on. I know you ever showed to do. We always appreciate you making time for us. We'll see you soon. Thanks, ma'am Moscow. And what a difference a year makes when when LSU was expected to barely break the six or seven win, Mark. And now everything is just going along swimmingly. We'll take a break or more calls at eight five five two four to seven to eight five big first hour with Scott Woodward. We are coming back with you..

"The fried pack and then patron Torri of college football lives here. The is the Paul finebaum show. Our three podcast. We welcome you back. So glad you are with us. And the story of this day has been the end of Joe elisa's tenure as LSU's at leading director. He apparently did not survive a board of supervisors meeting last night. And the speculation has been rampant all day that he was about to be replaced and officials beginning to confirm that story. Now in Baton Rouge alita has been there almost ten years came there. More more than ten years came there from Duke where he was embroiled in a towering inferno better known as the Duke lacrosse controversy where he was blamed for a lot of it not all of it today. They're certainly had culpability, but his days are finally numbered and very few people in Louisiana seem the least bit concerned that he is on his way. A out of very on popular athletic director. So who will take his place number of candidates have risen to the top of the wishlist? But the man who most people think LSU covets, the most is Scott Woodward. Scott Woodward is an LSU graduate. And he's a Baton Rouge native. He is the current athletic director at Texas AM. And really when this story first broke very few people thought, he would consider it. But friends of Scott Woodward or telling me late this afternoon that he is homesick that he would certainly consider what almost everyone believes is going to be a tempting offer whether the structure the hierarchy at AM is to his liking or not he has been a phenomenal athlete director. They're bringing in JIMBO Fisher the man that. Joe Aleve tried and failed twice to hire. As less miles replacement and ultimately getting buzz Williams two weeks ago, one of the top coaching hires of the off season. So that's where we are. Busy busy Wednesday on our program. More of your phone calls at eight five five to four to seven to eight five and. Joseph is up next in Mississippi. Hello, joe. I was going on tonight. Tonight was doing great. Thank you, very much cry. Thank you so much. I mean, what you just now say I mean, I'm telling you what a lot of sentiment is round. Here is I wished I would just I mean unless you could take Ross Bjork as well to think. But now he's done a lot of good things for our university. But. It's Christ may say that. But I mean, having the pavilion done and having our great other coaches hard stuff like that. But. This is crazy to me think that everything that's been going on. And there's so much division. Oxford right now is is sort of mumbling as let's say for sure, but..

"Some time with our kids on our current roster. I need to get to know their families and spend time with them face timing and maybe getting them on campus. This'll be the first final four of my college career that I have not been there. And so it's a dead period. It stays dead Paul until next Thursday at noon. So during that time, we need to set up as much as we can from a recruiting standpoint, we probably need to sign half of the team. And that's not good. When you're talking about that going into Easter Sunday. Normally you want to hunt Easter eggs, not players when it's the first weekend in April, but that's part of it. And we're excited. About it. But we can't make rash or quick decisions. Relative to our staff or relative to our roster because in this league, as you know, what auburn's doing what coach Martin did at South Carolina. You can't make short sighted decisions. And so the people that we bring have to fit our culture and that only takes time. But we've we've got a lot of work to do in your the last show that I'm going to be on. I was just jumping over the hills. When they told me that you ask for that. I'd have a chance to be on the show. But after this we gotta get to work. Well, I have a couple of friends out there that want to see you succeed. And I am not going to stand in the way that code. But I I do appreciate you coming on. And I look forward to many more conversations. But we'll we'll see when things settle down. And congratulations again. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. You got it. Well, what a conversation and what a higher by Scott Woodward, buzz Williams, new coach at Texas. A week ago tonight playing Duke down to the final shot and here he is day two of his tenure as AM's head basketball coach we're up against a break. More to come on this Friday afternoon to listening to the Paul finebaum show.

"Hey, we welcome you back. We're live in the south end zone of Cal field, Scott Woodward informed us of where we will be tonight and Scott, it's great. See you again in you've inter a couple years, but it's almost like the the reset button has been hitting tonight. It all begins again. Yeah, we're really looking forward to. It's a lot of excitement in the air and lands buzzing and ready for this. The began and I think the kids are tired of hitting each other and ready to play an opponent. We won't ask you about bringing in JIMBO Fisher that has been done ad nauseam, but I'm really interested in related to this to you personally. Just again eight people parachute in a couple hours. They think they know has been going on here for number of months, but but I really what you've talked about the enthusiasm and you. You always expect that with a new coach, but this is a different level enthusiasm. That I'm familiar with? Yeah. I mean, I it's to me, I guess I've been through this. Paul, you well know, and it is on the high end of the scale of of enthusiasm because we believe that we have all the right ingredients here to do. We need to do. And this was the final piece missing and the puzzle, and and we think we got a guy that not only fits here from football standpoint, but fits our culture here. You know, it's, it's great when you have tobacco chew and boot wear and kinda guy Aggie land, and it makes.

"So here's what we got tonight. Northwestern state and Texas AM. It's quite a match up. We had the northwestern state coach on in again, you can quibble about the opposition, but state is a proud football program with the most important thing tonight is really about eight in 'em and what they look like. Again, I don't know. Sometimes you can parachute in someplace now on the on the east coast this morning. So it wasn't like I was coming from another football culture, but it is just dramatic to be here and to soak this up. I changed planes in Dallas early this morning, and I got on the plane to college station with a number of aggies. And I, I've been here I was hearing Jackie Sherrill coached in the mid eighties and Jackie shirl came as also the highest paid coach, but he didn't walk in with a national championship. He came close at Pitt, but that is the difference. And it's one thing if you just show up collect the money and go home, but JIMBO Fisher is changing culture. He's recruiting at a level that we've seen before, but not many places. And I know Georgia fans like talk about how they are the ones coming after Alabama, but so is AM based on what I'm picking up here in the early hours of the prelude to the college football. A lot to do today, and we have plenty of time to do it in a mention Scott Woodward. He is the athlete director. He's the man who hired JIMBO Fisher. He worked with them at LSU. Scott Woodward was part of Mark emerets team that hired Nick Sabin. He knows all about it are c. Slocum knows about this program proud coach beloved here, Billy Lucci. And much much more as we get you ready for the kickoff which will be on here on the SEC network at eight thirty eastern.
