Aunt Becky for President
Well, a LOT happened this week. Jon Favreau joins Lovett in studio to talk about the insane college admissions scandal, Trump’s first veto over his fake national emergency, the Boeing 737 Max 8, Paul Manafort’s sentencing, Tucker Carlson’s bigoted radio interviews, Beto O’Rourke’s presidential announcement, and the terror attack in New Zealand. Then we go to our live show at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee with Move On’s Ben Wikler, activist Angela Lang, and returning champion Akilah Hughes. We cover corporate consolidation in the beer industry, Foxconn’s dirty deal with Republicans like Scott Walker, high top tables, and the scourge of standard time. Thanks for the curds, Wisconsin!

Bring it to you wherever you wanted to put it. Yeah. No. Hopefully evening, you're just the turbocharged your boat or dreading Uber driver Yuba outlaw. Well, that's a whole nother subject. Uber was an Uber driver a great one to Walker in the house. Follow that full on Instagram. Right. Magnus Walker and of course, at Hanna H A N H L OTT. Yes. Oh of everything. Alive button on that. Oh live needs to be enabled the rehearsal. Yeah. Fuck it. Producer Anna hosts at the same time multitalented, multitask, man, since you mentioned Uber, can I just tell you a real funny stuff. All the time. I just I I'm sure you guys have all the stories in the world because I followed you fucking lap of the earth in the last seems like too much time on him. But yeah with travel shit. That's unbelievable. So this morning my Porsche, I got it back from leaking. Fuck I've seen it. Go area. Area. Fucking beautiful. Well, yeah, there's that do have to talk about that. Because all about that. So. So my Cup of Brown. Metallic the Porsche the color, the is Kosice read that is, you know, no Kosice read is really like UNIFIL. Yeah. So I got up photo. It looks like it has a different every light. You photograph it in it absorbs the different way. I actually that's what love really beautiful really beautifully. So I got it. I had it back for two days. I hadn't seen it for a year. They were doing the build all this fun. Do you want to go to thirty somewhere? I had I got it like mild leader ready. But then it started blowing smoke. Oh. So I took it over to Marco at T L G Hollywood Marco have no Muko longtime. He's the man he got it in and we did a compression test and the compression is good. Thank god. But this is what my number six spark plug looks like not very pretty and the valve guides are fucked top and rebuild all which is a bummer. He's going to do it. He's gonna do it over December. And I get to bring the Carter Atwood still. But the funny part of the story is while he's looking at my car, I took his fucking Audi and went to get a burrito and whatnot. That's genesis. But when I came back. Like, I'll make car whatever I went home. I think he's but his fucking keys. No. And so I was like, oh, no. I know I'll call Newburgh his t- smart, not use my success. Courrier service. Really seems that idea right delivers call the Subaru comes over and I go, hey, man, you're not taking me you just taking the kings. And he goes, I don't do deliveries and he did like a burn out out of my house in his previous got so mad and then slams on the brakes looks back you better cancel that. Right. Because I'm not cancelling. That's on you. Oh my God. Now. And yeah, fuck that guy. We will have. You should have been cool about it. It would rather take a human one hundred percent, right. Any day? Or be polite or do anything here? Yeah. It's not like it's like if I was to give you a hockey bag aright. I get it. You don't. Potential drugs or essential. But a set of keys. There's no there's no. Cheese. So any one of those days for you? It started at five forty five and middle middle fight. With an Uber driver both Blanton's now. So it's all funds with I haven't had that angel cold. So you're going to build the car two three two shorts wrote and the rally co knowing we're just going to fix it skit, maybe Marcos trying to get me into a little hotter. Cam. Okay. But like, it doesn't he was going to go with the three four we could go, and I go how much is that? Let's just all with the off road tires thus. You'll foes I push right? Yeah. That's when he bless you. Twenty bless some fucking love it. It's so awful retire public. Mash speed bumps and hop over so fun. It really is fun. You should have one. Well, I've been in a few. I've been in a few have you been over like toddle in England. Like have you been one of the in Hamburg with the crazy German guy off roading, though safari cause remember video? Goes through the woods and the woods. Yeah. It was in the woods. Not on a trace wearing German making his own trail in the woods. Yeah. So yeah, I've done quite a bit of off road in in pushes the last one was driving from Brisbane to Perth across the Simpson desert as relatively this floating in my bourbon protein, it'll be pickled. A roughage is there anything yours a little bit? Is it gets like maybe from the cast? Yeah. That's good news. And there's nothing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Live audience if you wanna get in with Hannah and Magnus on the super chat and this show we will get to that in the last thirty of the show. We have a good stream new we go. Yeah. Can everyone. Yeah. People can see us. We're good. Yeah. It's fine line between producing and every eleven. Yeah. I saw you got to have a go hand in the new in the new vantage recently. I just had my second. Do you like? Do you like about the gray one, right or those? No, no. That was our photos is the gray one. I know him on the other side of the Mike. But you can you gotta talk through the Mike can straight. Now. I'm I'm just just a home just on your. Clubs during the erupting was yours. Good. Or does it have issue? No did yours have issues a Cup like made. Like made great walking. This is bad. It's not good at all. No. I love that car. I think I thought it was great good for you. Because you're tall. It's a tall. Yes. It is. It's I know I love it. And I love small cars anyway. And I love low cars and anything with enough headroom for me. I'm really happy seven twenty s tall person's car. I agree. Although I didn't I actually like some of the quote, unquote, lesser McLaren's why? Because it yeah, I'm not a track fiend. I mean, I like driving on the track. But like I want to drive my cars on the roads. And like, you know over bumps and up hills and the seven twenty s to me, you didn't think it was good at that stuff. I thought it was we'll tell them what you drove it where we had. We had an engine Eva. We also had it in New York City. I mean, we've driven we've given that car. Yeah. We gotta take it in that car by we and he got to take it in that car. I dunno. It's fine parking. Tickets breeding in New York on the way to Coney Island on the belt poke, really. Yeah. I've got a couple of speeding tickets in new with us a whole nother car is technically perfect. But I just don't get like personality. It is. It is perfect. But I don't need perfect. I like story, you know. I like a personality like Lotus eaters. Yeah. See now, there's personality. I will tell you. And this morning it. Yeah. I just saw your picture. Actually, I remember you posted magnetic a couple of weeks ago. Like who's got a first gen I might wanna buy man reach out to you with this one to sell. Do you want the low two story? Yeah. The joint Instagram, you know, for something had my son moment, and to backup actually wants to Dona Seventy-three loaded shero, I told you that story. Yeah. When we drove the shot works to if if it makes nor Cal so Cal I'll buy so I'd always had a thing for Lotuses. And for some reason I saw post of a series one and just thought. Wow. That car really is timeless. Looks better today than it. Did when it came out and seventy six so long story short post goes on good. Yeah. Right now sick post went up on Instagram. Spot a month ago? I'm walking around New York. I get a message from a buddy of mine that says dude, I've found you co at some bring a trailer these ninety minutes to go I didn't have a bring a trailer account. So you know, my phone trying to set up my bring trailer account. He's not taking my credit card. My phone's about today long story short. I went in the bring a trailer auction never even bothered to call the guy out the call sight unseen silence. So many calls how bad can it be always going to things with the same option of, you know, expect the worst hope for the best type of thing? So how bad was it? While the. The moment. The call came off the trailer and literally wouldn't go into gear a thought. Okay. So I called the go listed on bring the trillion. Of course, he'd never had that problem until horse. I've ever seen that. Yeah. Just to be real, you know, with this shift with of course, we start looking around we find out no clutch fluid in the reservoir. So that's why I was going to give clutching just vanish vanish. There's a leak somewhere it just vanishes vanishes. So transit just found his so clutch fluid in we go clutch fluid. It will barely drive around the block. I happened to be filming something with a German TV show with my buddy and the car almost died there. And then so I talk it around that time whenever that is October twenty seven and that white nine twenty eight there. I'd look to that call probably a month before English, dude. So it can be interesting to look you predict. Sounds like a challenge. So. Yeah. Especially the English guy calls me up and says, congratulations on the Lotus, by the way, my nine twenty eight is still for sale this one here dropped the price to eight grand that was eight grand series, one seventy nine euro sunroof, delete five speed manual. How was it? This is on a fried. Well, here's a great plus. Yeah. On Friday at five o'clock ago. How about seventy five hundred bucks you deliver it to downtown. The next day. He delivered it to downtown the next day when I drove that for the weekend, we can probably put five hundred miles on it and not a single issue seventy five hundred well-spent exact same use the Lotus. So we wouldn't have bought it. If the Lotus have been running the Deloitte is wasn't running. So what are you going to do something to Chris? So we took the nine twenty eight so fast forward yesterday when I come back from Portland at how all the Lotus taking care of whilst that was out of town travelling for the past three weeks, we get back all excited to go drive. The Lotus up the Chris yesterday, we're heading. The to all of a sudden I've got fuel starvation. Feels like it's going to die on me. Feels like the cubs sort of jetted up or clogged up with some residue. So a bought the trip we managed to make it back to downtown without dying. So, you know, we don't want to stole out on the freeway took tow truck at five on a Sunday. So he make you back downtown LA get out the car take that photo that I go to try and get back into the call dole won't physically will not won't open until after climbing through the passenger side. And there's no room in that goes, really, it was great it was emails. I get people because I'll talk about like occasionally on the show. I'll talk about like depression, and and people will be like man, you know, I look at these people's like Instagram's, and I go, you know, why can't I have a life like that? And I go man Instagram is a very edited version. Timely curated showing you where I'm climbing all your. Driver's side door beautiful with the sun say, and it looks like it looks like you're doing like a little, gene. Yeah. Trees, I dance. And he was like, oh, by the way, this car is completely. Does not run. If you look real close to doesn't close anymore. You know, the funny parts of the stories when I first got the car. There was a mild door issue. And the guy goes, yeah, we never had that until the tow truck driver picked it up. It always went into until there was no clutch fluid. But you know, it's a journeys part of the process. How did drove has a personality? I like that drives now dry. Yeah. Yeah. If I log yet, actually drove it's relatively nimble and quick. And so it's an NF four-cylinder. Yeah. Yeah. So it's the seventy nine series too with a series three turbo bumper and spoiler with a two liter motive built out to a two two interesting, and it just needs better breaks because it didn't stop good. You can't really heal and toe and because of the pedal setup Berman work wheels original wheel. No, that's running a big. Yeah. Well, seventy nine the back is let's go to fifty eight sixteen risk. So the originals will fourteen. So it's a very least you'll be able to put brakes by those. Yeah. Yeah. Because this shared a chassis with the DeLorean I had which there was no way to get better breaks for the okay, they plenty of room. Plenty of room that because I was joking with my buddy who suggested I should put an alpha motor. And so during Alfred if you're out there listening, my reply back to him was, nah, I'm gonna put a soobee motor in it, which I think you know, what you can do is a Toyota two Z in a lease motor. Well, they still like whoa to see what it at work. It's still under those. Suzy's e for not much money. So it's the beginning of a love hate. Yeah. No. I'm not a purist. Was that your first Lotus prefers vintage? Did you enjoy? I loved it. Yeah. I mean, but this car I feel like is a tease because it teases you into thinking it's going to be fun and great, and you get you get the minute. You get comfortable, boom. It's gonna hit you boom. But yeah this morning. I loved it. V8. one latest Marie? Of those known your super weird dry. Real salary, sound wise or power wise. They sound good. And they have these what they're weird in that the the two I've driven the gas pedal was actually heavier than the brake pedal. Strangest weird, and they have just they have this nineties over boosted power steering. We can feel at all. I think I think you got you had the one this doesn't have any. I mean, it's like cranky like the wheel size eleven and like six four, right. You're all six threes. I mean, jeez. We cannot wear hats in that car. Super lanky. We're lanky lanky thus going to bring me up to the question. I want to ask you tash. The talk. Oh my God. So that's why have I had the post. Of course, I you know, I story. So I'm you know, I had I had the poster for years. And obviously this is this is the game over kind of car. Right. I was not searching for kun-tae shes it found you it found me I actually made a video very car for years ago and the gentleman who was selling it asked. If I knew anyone who wanted to buy it and three other cars, he was selling, and I might have driven that car things guy lives in the valley. It's it was Dave Houston's car, you know, him. He's the Barney's beanery guy. He owns all Barney's be a photo of that car in my garage next the two seven seven actually drove that car years. It was the bit of the village bicycle the Jonny Lieberman drove in Motor Trend. Classic. I made a video with it. There's actually a ditty video coming out. He's in it. It's it's been around. I'm gonna pull the photo not now because of that in the garish with next two two seven seven I've driven the photo of the Lotus and this together. They were matched really do. So it's so let's go back to the visit picture it just got a fresh service for the clutch and a flywheel. It had the crazy valve job like a thousand miles ago. I don't have to pay any of it. And I got it. And you know, when he told me I could have it hound goes like a month and a half ago. I just was like, okay. All right. This is scary. Because you said my right away. Right. I said I have to figure out if I can afford it because I just I mean barely. And I could barely afford it. And then it was just like how do I make this happen because you know, they made six hundred and seven q QB's how many of them eighty eight. It's an eighty eight eighty seven built in you, go. How how many of them are numbers matching? How many of never had painter bodywork? How many are the right color? How many are you? When you narrow it down. How many points to two seventy seven and the answer is like fucking zero. Right. So I I realized that the opportunity would probably not come up again to buy a car that I know the history of all this shit, and it was the right car. And so wanted to say, no, it would be a crime, they know to a Carleen this if you have so how is it? It's fucking amazing. The air conditioning works. No. It was an old it blows blows coons. I remember the pedals a super awkward in Heine. I have to take my shoes. The latest ones. It's like a ruler. Yeah. Yes. The width of a ruler basically a metal sheet. You know, there's a big wide front yard there. So I way off that. And I have to drive barefoot. Oh, you, and you know, the gearshift is a little clunky truck. Like, I seem to recall truck like wouldn't be out of the question. Once it's all warm and everything gets better. You know, how does the engine sound fucking amazing? So that is a it's got an Albert Tony exhaust on it from the late eighties. It does not have cats so loud, and it idols at like fifteen hundred are everyone knows you're coming. Oh, yeah. And you don't want to ever the amount of double takes because even full of lamb is like nobody ever expects to actually to see new. In old Lambeau blend, and I parked it at whole foods. And I mean, I literally jaws were Tom. It was crazy and Revie taking except the gym in whole foods, if you've gone up the crest, honestly, I told you the job whole foods, and that's one of the town. I just got home tomorrow, I'm going tomorrow and tomorrow and a fully why PCH has been closed. So I'm gonna go I'm going to go bills Malibu kitchen of a sandwich and enjoy the Coon tasha bit tomorrow. I'm very excited. So you're in love with it. It's so fucking cool. Dude. It's the and every time I was backing up. So I remember, Gary it's stupid. She's not every time. I just opened the garage and go in and just see it there. I go. Yeah. It's gotta ridge got original interior. It's it's never has the alpine CD player. A couple of other cool contacts shoop or she's got a couple of cooled Porsches. He's got a short wheelbase sixty six or something like that. Probably. Yeah. Yeah. And he's got an eighty three or eighty four targa with no miles on it. He's got a three. Oh, eight. He's got what use it three away. Early issue. But not fiberglass. Yeah. Yeah. But it's it's got low miles is lovely. He's this. If you're going to buy a high dollar car, this is the guy that from. Yeah. Because he just stares no expense on the maintenance photos. He buys the the right example, who we go to show with the flip flops. Flipflops? Yeah. Look how low that is. It's solo that's on your way hustle plays level physically. How do you? It's okay. Manhole. That's real life. If I scroll back, there's a the picture from the G, Q magazine shoot. This is when they get home. That's how it is. It's crazy. I mean, I'm driving this this new Genesis thing and the roof of it is below the the door line g seventy. I just had a New York is it. It's really nice. Like, I. Yeah. I I've driven it. Just a few hours money shocked the Motor Trend car of the year alone with of non nominated nominated. It's the best mid sized sedan driven in quite some time. Yeah. But the problem is Genesis isn't selling anything. Well, he should've day should have done this brand thing forever. Right. Like just copy Toyota right to split it off do they should on years ago. And the other thing too is it's an SUV market one hundred percent if you're trying to eat no matter how good the sedan has. Version of this thing that'll probably yeah. Hopefully, it's not too late. But at least to my favorite topic, right? America's number one selling vehicle. What is it? The F one fifty. Yeah. Forty years. Yeah. So crazy if you guys have done. How you with you guys? When you leave Los Angeles. How many F one fifties on pickup trucks? They're all size SUV's. You see? Well, let me tell you. We were just in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Vehicle is a truck. It was all maybe even a duly. I mean, they're very problem. I have a friend with a duly in LA whenever I see him pull up in Los Angeles. He looks for Dickie. It's kind of a caricature of a car. How was Jackson Hole? It was amazing right right here. No. Yeah. It's a little bit back. It's that was the rolls. Royce colon in. Yeah. Very interesting because you know, at first you're like what is due on one Jackson hall. But then if you remember, okay Harrison Ford lives here, the the the leader of the World Bank lives here, they fully is all of these are those are Jackson Hole. That's it is big mall on. Did. You didn't you? The proper off roading this thing. Or is it a win actually on the steepest ski slope in North America? You drive up skiing. It was actually pretty cool. It was I don't think the. SUV doesn't photograph. Very well. Person strike striking. It is what it is. You're gonna either love it or hate. It doesn't make any apologies. It says what it is. And it was incredible off road. I will it compared to I've driven the bentayga off road. I've done all the Landover. Exactly. Blue attire exactly about that tend to go down. Tend to go down. There you go. That's the only good luck. You know what they've done. Here's what they've done. They have kept this really long on the phantom phantom. Right. The bentayga. Yes. Shares that those those points with the Q seven, and so yeah, can't create that luxury. It's exactly right act. Look this they've done. This is what you would call stately everyday. And literally when you're driving it your too, I with every other pickup, truck and duly and huge as as I can't wait till they could have star field ceiling. Have you? They have a shooting star option. Right. If you shooting star, they have an option for the ceiling where you can get or on the crazy idea. I do you know, if you're like, if you know, you're a Scorpio for instance, you can get the Scorpio constellation. You know, any your ceiling anyone they I kind of love it. So yeah, it's marketing it's kind of cool. Four fifty four. Yeah. I mean, I think it starts around four hundred. But also, I know nobody buys a Rolls, Royce and doesn't customize it. So you got to imagine each one is closer to half a million. I'm sorry. It just occurred to me that I was bad job producing. And if these pictures didn't make it into the feed earlier, I am sorry because I was district tests conversation, I'm trying to multitask. Sometimes if you don't click hard enough shit, doesn't translate what I'm trying to figure out as you multitask. And who's going to go to the ball and refresh out drinks floor? It's floor, sir. You'll trainings. Oh. Is gonna do that for you. I'm really want to drive the call and I'm super excited about it. I think you're gonna like it. I mean, I was driving thinking no one's gonna believe me. When I say, it's good. No one's gonna believe me. When I say, it's better than pretty much everything I've driven off road on the road. Does it drive like a phantom? Yes. That's yes. That's drove the phantom. So instance, yachting, right? Yeah. It's a magic carpet ride. It's its yearly quiet all I could hear where bugs hitting the windshield. Which pressing? When you drive the dawn, and the with the convertible and found super instantly. You know, why is this? So I always ask about that day. I mean, of course, you had to like triple plane pane glass, but they also say that the ops like seven land top and the wheels are filled with this special phones. That's like coast tires. Are. You know, noise. Canceling phone real. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's inside the wheels. So what happens if you put like Aaron them does that fuck them up? I think so. Yeah. Because in Wyoming. On special at these special Pirelli wheels. And we're like can we get like all road or winter tires into like, we're not sure yet? Yeah. We're not sure this is what that comes with. And maybe later. We'll see. Yeah. Yes. What is it tire? Is it like Bugatti? Pro. Yes. Yes. Have you ever? See presently, quiet low. It's weird. Yeah. Yeah. I can't wait. Great fucking rappers put rims on them. The doors open. It's a little bit awkward at first because they open like carriage doors on a nationalist. Exactly. Well, you know Rolls Royce doesn't like if you say suicide, but yes, that's what they. Oh. Yeah. Someone opens the door. No, they are not embraced its carriage. They will deal time. They will correct. If you just say roles, they'll say, no, no no now role. It's Rolls Royce. It was two men here. On you anyway. Yeah. I mean, it's a target audiences. Listen, grace the booze. I'm into it. I'm into it. Yeah. I think it looks red. They were running the I live. Where I live in Venice is right on BMW's like fuel economy cool out. And so I saw them every day at four thirty running the cammo prototype around the pool and even in Cam o- like pretty RAD. Yeah. Looks pretty. Yeah. Wait till they do the like the gun rack bar Backley, proper gem pain, disbanded many who over finches that it doesn't impact. I just talked with their CEO. Yeah. He'll be over Finch. He's like him. I like him. Yeah. I like what over-fish is doing me too. I bet they have. They're about to come out with a continuation type car next year. This is. The old raindrops right here. It is look they've even got they've even got like parts of on their website here bombing this coming can you imagine in two thousand eighteen driving an old over this fast? And the well, no, I mean, the people who are serious I feel like Magnus you you're going to have one of these old brain. But these guys all based in Yorkshire. So I do relate to those. It's where I'm from. I saw on your Instagram. You just went back to visit your mum and drive your drive. You're like, I was very cute. Not my first call because I never owned in England your first turbo, no. The infamous story about the call that I fell in love with poor show through the white MARTINI tube of from nineteen seventy seven. I saw earlier does that cost. That's a model a model of it. Where you have the actual go up or the way down slow you roll. Yeah. So that is the very call that I felt started. My love affair with Porsche back in nineteen seventy seven and went to the Lemnos motorshow is at ten year old unless you when my book came out in England, I did a book sign of the pushes center in London and that call was brought along. So I actually saw the car year ago kept in contact with the owner. And then I'm doing video with Porsche for that nine eleven magazine that YouTube channel one on minutes, eleven seconds. So I'm telling my same story. They really milk this thing. So we're going to channel nine eleven nine nine minutes. Eleven seconds lung every video is nine minutes and eleven seconds. It's this show on these three videos within the show about enthusiast sharing their pushes. So each segment is two three minutes. So the cool thing about this is that was the call that started. My love affair with Porsche on actually went back to my hometown Sheffield and even went back to the old house that I lived in eighteen nineteen year old and did something I'd never done anything. Land or never did in Sheffield drive a Porsche. So it was like full circle. I saw that call forty one years ago. And I finally got to drive it. That's amazing. That's like me buying my Coon Toshka. Oh, you know, you're the poster and it's fun now. It's in the garage. Well, tell the story all the time about any kid growing up anywhere in the seventies or eighties chances all you out of poster of a white MARTINI to go alum beginning Coon, you a five twelve old Bill in a box. Yeah. So that was the exact call. Dr. If you're if you're my age at TR. Yeah. You got a couple of years on me. But those are the three right Lamborghini Ferrari, so actually drive the exact call. Here's your the last time. I lived in in England, I left the house in one thousand nine hundred eighty seven and move to America. It's scharping. You tell this story kid, thus me, and my mom, that's my old living room where my mum's going through the photo album. Strumming cool is that's me with my little collar on the on the old steps and that is the call. That's that a factory painted car. Yeah. Factually com that was the Shoko. So, you know, the Elliott Osho's coming up the big dollar car. Yeah. Right. Yeah. For sure I think if you go to mind, you can see the interior if you scroll down it's sprays. Everyone blue interior, actually, go out these these side, Martiniere, stripes and. Very striking. Is right there. So that's great is white with red seat Bax and blue like five pads, and I'm red carpet carpet and a blue debt, and that's all other. Do you know that Michael Fuchs guy this cycle few? Yes, totally. Yes. That's a nutty interior. Yeah. For sure it is those those cushions STAN is that a standard seat? What's up? Well, that's weird doctor firm and see. So that's real similar to the seat in the nine twenty eight. They will Dr Firmin seat all those German guys. I've wanted to talk through this. So it's the non-sport seat nonstandard seat. Pretty resi came as a option in the turbo and is pretty similar to the nine twentieth. Seats, believe it or not. That's what looks slightly different in red wine ugly seat. I'm sorry. Yeah. That it's good. Like, oh, this is horrible. And then I like it. But it's kind of cool if I wanted if I wanted to be a little more delicate I'd say that's so of the period. Yes. Hideous this news. It's yeah. It's horrible and amazing at the same time. I mean, look, I'm not wanting to talk at you know, you know, you you saw them of the interior my nine eleven. Yeah. I've seen bus. Brick. It's fucking ice cream. But we source it from a from a. A commercial bus supplier. Yeah. He wouldn't actually tell me Lee. Really picky about certain things. And one of the things is where we saw. L anyone where he bought fucking fabrics. He's really he's really picky about certain things with the bills for one. He wouldn't let me keep the stock mirrors. He demand like it has these sort of tight of rally mirrors like you to find on the SEC s and like, okay. If you're sailing, the car through the woods, this makes sense. And I go le- these mirrors suck. I can't see we just leave the stock mirrors in mine will be like a desert rally or. Yeah. And he does not know it's part of it's part of the belt. I gotta do it. I go behind now when I'd parallel Parker changed lanes and fun. He won't tell anybody where the fabric comes from. How is parallel in the contest? I haven't tried it yet. I telling that's telling you know, I have I I have I have a sort of a semi sponsorship deal with clarion. Okay. Have been like they're like, oh, dear. Let us come a pocket for you. Well, no. But they offered to to hook up a backup camera that goes into the rear view mirror. So when you put it in reverse the whole rear view mirror turns into a backup camera which I was like always reversible has got to be reversible. I'm considering that. But I'm I've tried to do the sill thing. Everyone says yeah, just enough. So leave the door. It's hard really really aren't gonna do yoga and pelota. It's really got easier for me to just lean slimy climate in those this yesterday and the dog through the passenger side because the driver's side door. On. This is struggle real struggle Israel. We also saw not glamour head on your Graham. There's a picture of delory. Do you drive that thing or do you just stand next to it for this picture that was a standing next to it? Although I have driven that car at the factory in Houston. Oh, yes. Yeah. Exactly. My home. Sweet. Yeah. It was great. I mean, another car that's like kind of a momentum car. But really fun. And I I do like how it looks. Oh, they look great. Yeah. Well, you know, I had one and I said a painting of one do you miss it? No because I have to look at. Okay. I've got an awesome of you co in the L A convention center, the ellios show pug hadn't kept spots. I remember that show you what about parts it when we shared when we were at the hotel in Pebble Beach 2014 parked two seven seven in the DeLorean, my next old his yeah. Missile car on on. I'm looking at it. Yeah. And this woman Hannah has here. This has the euro spec. Yeah. Chins caro- ride. And it looks really good. The problem with the DeLorean is it's not good in the city. And it's not good in the canyons. It's good at like a nice Schill cruise like if you live high. Oh, it'd be good. It's been. Yeah. It's not good in the grid. And. Ohio Jews to enjoy the Delano. I did to vote read then I bailed because. I mean, you can't fault. It is. It is what it is. I don't hate it. But like, you can't expect it to be something at it's not know. And if I had Magnus is amount of space do. Jubilant cost storage facility. I am. But then you've got more car two years ago. I interrupted it's really nice to look at. Yeah. And if I had a lot of happily would've looked at it for eleven months here and driven it twice a year. And it would have been sounds familiar. Yeah. That sounds like my only. Todd Jag story. How was that own same? Yes. Cardboard in ninety four kept it to twenty eleven when it was a fiftieth anniversary everybody loved, and it looked great. It. Just didn't drive great. That's unfortunate. Yeah. I mean, I still like him Jack fan. I'm actually chasing the series one XJS manual coupe which seems impossible to find in America. They like, it doesn't really only you always see ropy convertible automatic. You don't see a series one manual coupe from seventy five could you make one if you wanted I've got a soda a little thing. That's brewing up here with a British call. That's going to be a a future build of mine a non pusher outlaw built. So I feel like. Crashed f type somewhere begging to be taken apart. We do. We came down the fruit four or five behind wall. And it was like you said a Aston. All no, it's an thought Jay, they're putting nice car. Mothers got one actually mother has a V six s coupe and British racing. Green. Tactical. Yeah, it's lovely. How did this great? Dr I boots legged her trip with giant. And it was a. Thanks, chad. The factory in Coventry to the Paris auto show. But that was great. This was good. And they were very smart to do it this way because you're thinking, okay, annexed say x j sedan not that exciting car. But then when you add every previous generation before to drive home. From six through driving to Paris ending at the Arctic from crown before the pairs auto show. They did it. That sounds is a perfect way. So which best one well. A lot of them are just seventy five shake coup. Yeah. Middle dime. Lurs? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's that's why the or I hate to spoke steering wheels. Doesn't your Lotus of a two spoke Zillow's to know. The MoMA wheel. Okay. The moment stock might have been that's for sure. Drifting drift guys left to spe do dispose rally guys to spokes. I don't like the two spoke Jag is very funny. It's hilarious for those. What a dime. Ler. Jag is. Will you describe what a dime? Get the bottle of bland yet. Basically in general diamond lawyer was the performance slash premium brand that Jaguar had Dame limb, but it's like Porsche Porsche tomato tomato. But I well, I say. American Honey because I'm American anyway, this will shock whereas premium brand for some time produce under the Jaguar Brent. But it, but it's an extra day. It's an but it is. Yes address happens to have a deal. But it actually is Jack. But you kind of know any. Yeah. So we went to their historic in Coventry, which is really cool. I mean, they they had is that Lamont? They had us at Goodwood. They did such a great job of making a not especially exciting sedan press trip. Yeah. Twelve feet swell automatic. Exactly. Yeah. Thanks day. Yeah. They did a great job. I love that. Yeah. Why not clicking over something is happening with my? Switch auto live is. I'm learning. How to do a podcast in folks? I just had update wire cast because of this new stupid OSX Mojave thing and it's not clicking over as fast as I want. And I'm sorry if I miss it. But I'm engaged in conversation and Blanton's you're in the moment. Multitasking thank have you been over to Don law racing it in England, Don law, I've not been the he's the guy who who maintains all the two twenties. And he's got that x j two twenty super van. The Ford transit was the with an X chair in the middle. Mid engine smart move. That's a visit worth making us an iconic call the extreme weight. So what was what was your favorite x j though? H what's h which ones? That's no go down. Let's see. I don't know if I put up a photo of it or not how does he size. Mine is the extra coop. The two-door. Probably is cooler. Knicks racy. That's probably that's probably accurate. I mean, I kind of like the new ones on the five zero five because he's a hooligan know that X chase though is this photo. Henry got one of those nice gone. Some some modifications to that apparently is very good. We'll use those join causing the seventies. I have they last awesome build, by the way Hannah. And I love your coat of thanks. It was my mom's from the eighties long. Thank you. You you can switch around really nicely. The X J C. This was not on the drive that is we drove we drove. Oh my God. Yeah. Audi? And then look at the extra s right here. How cool is that wall cares? There are very cool Jaguar race cars. Yeah. Means those are killer. This should bring thirteen. I mean the racing team. Just Google x thirteen say t- lake Jean. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's good engine one. The only have a Bill to one crashed in the other one soda mysteriously disappeared. What year is this from? Oh, you think. Yeah. We competed that we're gonna find I think is this was mid nineteen sixties to compete in the mall. Never raise an only one. Go against the Ferrari, right, right? How great Cam is that hot someone do a continuation of that? If you are at home, this it looks a lot like a Ferrari two fifty L M, but with like a d type nose and speedster windshield and roof, and that's pretty well. This is it from the back. Oh. Wow. The rear window looks like the front window of the gym Glickenhaus p four five. Yeah. It looks like him prototype. Racers from. Oh, you went to Jim's garage. I didn't I didn't go to his garage. I just spoke with him about ultra all of his many projects he has going on back to spend money. Yes. He does it right remarkable. But you know, his dad was the real the real, dude. I mean, I had no idea until I started researching for the story his dad was his that was a real heavy hitter. Seth in every way and live to almost a hundred. I fear New York financier made a ton of money not to impugn Jimmy's Jimmy success zones. Accelerate. Horse. Of course, Jimmy well, so I call Jimmy data because I'm from his town. You get to do that. Mike Lee is I want to ride country day school and every country days Jesse there Jesse. Yeah. Jessie, what's awry, right? Hi, I'm so. Okay. But every day driving to school. I would drive past the ride train station and every day. There was a black nineteen eighty-five flying nearer. TR parts of the train station parking lot. There would be there every day and usually be in the same spot. And just wanna thought the car was like abandoned, it would it would be in a different spot the next day, like rain, snow eufaula say no, it's running. It turns out this was his train station commuter car or like almost eight years and eventually the whole unibody rusted away had literally throw the car. Didn't find out who this guy was until much later. But he was it was the guy who had a test Arosa train station is train station car. Now. He's still takes the train. The city is the VIN number one alpha eight, see competency, donate. Same thing. East coast USA. Oh, let's see that up. Multitasking you'll look up license plate USAO one. Wait. No here. It is. Look this photograph is this is a shitty photograph here. But this photograph is at the RAI train station. Here's all the trucks shit going by and here's Jimmy jeez. Somebody's wanted. You can find with Google, right? You just do a license plate number there. It is. He has. He is the original Steve McQueen Babu. Yeah. And I mean, he has some serious stuff. But I actually think the coolest thing he has a Lola t seventy that last that he put a radio and air conditioning in St. drives it it's forty thousand road miles crops to the point that. Yeah. So here's a another funny. My first cameraman, gene Sanchez was like obsessed with this student everything he did he ended up marrying his daughter. Well, oil daughter. Feels about this. They have a kid. So. Yeah. Wait, the detailed analysis of the the new car this. Oh, oh, four thing. He's doing on. Yes. In in his way, which is kind of like a tornado of information coming you coming at you at one time. These are the. Look at sting. I think it looks awesome. I mean, those look to me they're starting production next year. He bought a factory Dame's day. Just bought a factory Connecticut. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. And they still have the one Italy, of course. And then they're doing stuff in California too. So here's C G O three weeks. Exactly real it. Just raced which is twenty four hour. Exactly. I mean, he he was saying at Nurburgring twenty four. No it was a different twenty four hour race. It just he was saying next year. He'd he thinks it's possible to win the Nurburgring with that car it. I mean, at least you have to believe that. I mean, of course, he thinks perfect segue from my how important is a new book ring time to me, not how important is a noble ring laptop to the general public and comedy factious all seem to be talking about it. You know, we had such an interesting. We use such an interesting conversation note, you know, Kameda. Jason can me. So no, no, no, boy, I'm trying to find the Jason Kameda came in here. And boy, I'm trying to do this thing. And it's all fucked up. He came in here, and he basically just Chit all over all numerical testing, car magazines because all lable. Well, the the the issue is that to get a good acceleration test, the kind that you would brag about in a forum you have to be so abusive to your car that nobody would ever be even if you're long on your car hard. You don't know what a hard launch really is. Like you have to be willing to grenade. The gearbox throw the thing away. I'll Jim Blake announced told me that last week. I mean, I asked him that question. I asked him how important is the three hundred mile per hour. Mark how important is Norbert bring record. And he said it's more fun to go around corners racing is about one hundred to two hundred miles per hour. And that's kind of it. And no one's going to drive their car to two hundred and seventy mile. As per hour. So it's irrelevant. I much prefer here. Here's a Glickenhaus that has twenty what for twenty four hour race. Is this can you identify this like some Bahrain Dubai? Looks like middle. Oh, certain of the Americas. No, Chris won't Texas. There are two twenty four hundred likes coda while he just finished at twenty four hours in Texas. Well, he knows more than we. So there you go that Carl d'oro. Yeah. Yeah. Know, I know it's very it's very schnauzer Murray finishing the way ours. But I agree. I think it's more fun. It's like a car. That's really fun from like thirty to eighty is. Really what I'm looking. Yeah. That's nine eleven great for that. Well, so. Yeah. Contest in thirty good to wind out. I I'd bump that number up little bit thirty two one twenty. You need smoking. Yeah. It's it's it's because it's a five speed. You know, that's why that's why I don't like the early the early. Turbo so much the four speed cars. We just drove down. We didn't. Literally, he's ready to go. What do you think we're in? I'm like second. He's like, Nope. I I is. We never so full them. Now. Oh, no. We go second give maybe a couple of times. Sided to go to the valley. I never fuck. Well because. The modern day pick up this cub before I win. Sometimes you just have to go. I knew it was not a small move. But the car being out of my possession for too long. It's an emotional thing. And how it's my buddy Mahdi's shop in van Nuys doing slippery slope type stuff maintenance. Anyway, honestly, you're looking forward to drive, and I go, well, we're going to pick it up from maters, and we're gonna drive down the fro five all of light ten miles. But it's going to take an hour. So no, not really. But I'm going to get it anyway. Yeah. It's it's I I hate driving around this. Yeah. I'm not from here. It's a new thing for me where did you? Well, I grew up in Oregon from Oregon, actually, but I've lived in New York for fifteen years. So I'm not familiar with LA. Traffic patterns, New York is much simpler in completely all roads trip though late last week when he city eighteen for the house storm. Yes, I was I left my office at five thirty. But. This is my office is on fifty. It's in midtown on fiftieth in Lexington by eleven PM. I was on one hundred second and York were you driving here. He'd know as an Uber. Trying to get to the airport. Uber. Two hundred dollars. She never made it to them. I literally after five hours. I just said I have to stop five hours. I didn't make it past one hundred second street. From safety. If anything goes down. I have all the sympathy in the world for you for this. But seriously, why did you stay in Uber for five hours? Because here's the other thing how he was actually super cool. He's from he's from Bangladesh you made friends to Terry's. I was waiting for pooling. This fly because number one I had a he I'm gone. I got this girl on the back. I mean ride this outing. I'm on in the middle of a three week trip because of the holiday and the LA auto show. So I couldn't unfortunately carry on. So I had a huge bag number one. I couldn't get out and pull it in the snow and number two. We were not move. It was literally a parking lot. So even if I told him like can you just get off on go back down? Forget it. We couldn't go. My my. Well flight to London. Yeah. Yeah. Took it was it was leaked. I mean, I'm blamed Blasi. Oh, I do. I'm biased because I worked for Bloomberg. But I do blame the Blasi Mikey in. Oh, yeah. We're we're great friend with hammer home. No. I mean, I seem like once a month in office. He he say hi money to he gave me one point eight billion dollars. You spread that around a little bit. That's long. I think he does spread it around. That's I don't think it's that much. But he and his Instagram posts he said, she said her hand for him post. He said his first nation do university was five dollars because that's all he could afford which I was great. You don't buy it. Let's good for him. That's great. I don't want to give any money to my universe. I haven't given a lead sent to my university. But university degree hasn't gotten where did you go to school? I went to Penn. Oh, east coast school east coast. Yeah. Yeah. It is not an Ivy league school. Matt faira dot isn't. Yes. That is an Ivy league school Kobo donated proceeds to charity the run I did. What did what did you study at Penn photography? When the best business school in the country. So that's really cool. I like it like it. That's up. I good grades. I had good SAT scores on my dad's on the board of directors there. And that's how I got. And I'm not even I'm not even gonna lie about that. No. That's of course, you'd want to go there. It's awesome. Right. Yeah. I mean, it was the best school. I got into because a him when you when you were studying talk AFI, what were you thinking you were going to do with that landscape and architecture photography. And I thought I would love back a photographer for like architectural digest thing, that's cool, which I was well on my way to until the digital camera the digital camera and Craigslist happen, six months after I graduated and just ate my career. And then was like, maybe I can do some cars. I'm pretty good for started went back to the bottom of cars. Literally washing cars at a dealership with an Ivy league education. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty good story. It's part of your story. And now I. For my own shape. And I have that skill straight. And you go to. Tosh until you you're still you regardless if you still have that like creative part of you. It's okay. Yeah. That's good. I make things where else have you guys been travel wise where else have you guys been recently? That was impressive. Well, yesterday, we were in Portland, which was great because I'm from Oregon. I haven't been back in a long time. So from Portland from bend, Oregon. Yeah. It was very small one. I live there, but an old logging town or people visit growing. Yeah. It's like, it's big. I mean, when I lived there there were fifteen thousand people now, they're eighty thousand people. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Now. Yeah. But yeah, we're in Portland, which is great. I mean, I love Oregon is it's green complexion super chill super night. These big bunch of booms Nike run the whole town Nike town. Headquarters is headquartered in Beaverton. Yeah. Yeah. Beaver next bend. It's Beaverton is a suburb of Portland. Okay. Yeah. So they started new, gene? Then they moved up to Portland, but we were there. We were in England. We were in Detroit. To detroit. I had Bloomberg had it. All right. The host of marketing dinner for Bloomberg and Detroit. I wish. Yeah. Yeah. Detroit twenty I love Detroit. I'm actually disappointed that the Detroit auto show is moving to the summer after this year. I think a good idea losing they're losing automakers showing up for the auto show. So they've decided after this you're gonna move June. Cool cool. It's like. Yes. Survive it, then, you know, it's legit. You know, puts here on your chest. It's good. I guess as a certain, Sean. I really liked to try the people. There are love. They're so friendly authentic. They don't they're not pretentious at all. They're not like. They are not susceptible to marketing or I don't know very it's very true. They're almost they're almost as an example, where they are hell tell my friend, my good friend Nino's from Detroit and his dad is a restaurant term his partners dropping a drought but heads up dropping a name. He's partners with Mark Wahlberg. Wahlberg Walberg Walberg. They opened the wall burgers and in Greek town. Yeah. And they make a good burger. I went I swear to God. I was in like a town was nothing else. I would totally go to awa- burgers. They make a great burger fry. But the people that line a PO. Okay. There was a line like two half hours long. Okay. Small-calibre acceptable marquee morning. Fair Marquis Marquis Marquis Marquis marketing, monkey marketing arm. Really, you should never wait in line for anything ever period. I don't care. What it is. It worries host enough. I don't care if it's brunch. I don't care if it's a supreme drop. I don't care if it's anything do not wait in line period. We agree with you lies for suckers. Exactly move on. Yes. Get a life keeping movers with that collection wise, Mr. Magnus, what's happening in the collection. I see been leaning towards turbos recently. Well, dose of turbo feed with a new goal sidestepped with the Lotus, obviously. Well, you must sometimes. Yeah. Writing. I mean when it comes to the Pico's, it's one of everything so front engine mid engine rear engined Eram water cooled that explains the nine two four nine two eight I'm full full. I'm like a a day away from buying a nine six eight manual really non clips, but six of those. Yeah, pretty Recco. They make a ton of them. It's another call. That's not that easy to find a manual coupe. But I found one of the last sort of fifty made down in Florida. The I'm going to be fifty Manu. You'll coops. That's how many of those the last year depends who you listen to the one hundred fifty or sixty it depends who you listen to nine hundred ninety five nine six eight manual coupe. I have heard record is one hundred and fifty but my source says only sixty of them were true ninety five's. I've heard through the grapevine this car is one of the most difficult portions to get parts for I'll let you know when mine heard it's super super hard to get parts for these. Well, I found wanting Florida in the goal is going to be my New York City car. We'll drive down to Florida and drive it to New York or I'll drive across country. But that's the missing piece to my front engine water cooled transacts collection started with a nine two four nine two eight nine four four nine hundred sixty eight and then after that, I don't know there's always something. I just saw a really nice to vote today. But I also saw nine nine six fortieth anniversary edition down auto kennel. With that. Do you do with that? Let me tell you alert just got an empty spot variety. I thought you were nuts when you bought the GT three. Well, see let me tell you nine hundred six GT three is one of my favorites. I've literally owned over sixty nine eleven it's the only water cool nine eleven I've own, but I've driven them all all the way up to whatever the latest greatest new thing is, but there's something super unique about nine hundred six GT three, especially if you can get a RS version with America. Well, there's a few here. There is a federal is a couple. No, there's always a way around. Oh, it's Florida. It's all it's all the answers. Yeah. Nine nine six as I literally met somebody the other day that had a car. I oh, I remember where they were. But I'm not going to blow this spot that literally had a Japanese imported car from two thousand and five right hand. And I was like what's wrong with that, bro? I was like what where did you get that? And he's like Florida Brown. I love it. Sorry GD three yard. Facing? I was facing a gen one nine nine six GT three when I went down to the Dominican Republic and this call it never ever came into America did ever go to the Dominican Republic because I drove in public. Island cars. It was one of those things were timing. Didn't sorta work out for me. But anyway, that was a chi- could've brought into Miami. And could broaden the California. I just get causing worry about sort of legalization later on. That's doesn't stop me. I worry about legalisation either. Nothing's going to stop me getting what I want when it comes to call. You know, what's very funny is that with with legalization, and I'm not talking specifics at all. But like anything else it comes down to the mood of that one person at the DMV that you're dealing. All right. Yeah. You know, what I meant the law is whatever the rule book at it always comes down to does that person at the DMV like and believe you. Yes. They do. I'd man I'm all good DMV stories, and I think someone should make a TV show about the DMV. The parks and rec. Portland is slash office said in a DMV department. Yes. That would be like an awesome awesome show because they have a show about the the parking ticket the meter maids invalid wars, the meter maids in Venice were so these they're all these super sassy black women and they're so hard core. They got a TV show. I got into a fight with one full year of a nation. Right. I got yet. I live. I got into a fight with one of them. Once I was sitting in a five minute loading zone. And she came to write me a ticket, my friend. Thaddeus, who you know, was in was in picking up, his takeout food, and I go no I've been here for three minutes. My friend is inside picking up his burrito. And then we're out. She goes does it say voting zone. I love it. And I was are and I like slowly wet to start the car slowly put it in to the delong. Some press car, but like by the time I had slowly backed halfway Sloan you're on he's walking outside. I'm like see burrito. Loading zone. Yeah. They gotta you gotta realize. L C, but yet DMV reality show. The Bill the PL Z. Yeah. The burrito looting Zorkin crazy shit fucking right there nine nine six GT three RS. I've driven all the RS is from the Seventy-three all the way up to the latest. And he's there much difference with the nine six RS is just wait and about it don't different motor control. He's just a purist is the most chiseled. My real old time favorite RS is seventy three leader punch-up, seventy seventy three liter. Okay. Fatty bumper one Jeep body big bumper short hood call. Molsem right. Right. Well, seventy three seventy three this this guy Clinton yellow well that's a race car. Well, that's an RS. That's a racecar Google thing. You're on here you go to click seventy three three three or a street. Co the same joke about the right? That's the one you need Jesus. It's all wrong. It's all gone wrong. Folks. Support is all in the same. But no to drive the same this great about well. It's subtle nuance. Right. This is one that's wide fenders on him hand. Yeah. Wow. There's see. That's people actually asked me how someone like yourself or a Seinfeld or a real heavy Porsche collector. You know, why you would have thirty Porsches and variety new drove the same. They're all different all different. Yeah. One time. I had seven three two two. It was down to five. We drove one down today. The seventy seven I'm one of those guys that modifies 'cause what we pulled up in today's in one thousand nine hundred seventy seven ice cream metallic. Green, avocado leather, Taunton interior. I'm the third owner. It's got forty one thousand miles on it everything that I don't care about like original, everything toolkit gloves, compressor radio. This call has it. That's the call that. We basically didn't get out of first gear. Driving down the five in on like say, no to drive the same. Because the cause over forty years old. It's been age differently. And different suspensions. The same. You know, that one's got a little clutch Jota that smile. Leroy Tatum by company bother to do a full on clutch on it. So you just live with it. It's not a problem this year traffic on the four oh, five mile Lear tainting when you have a big collection like that. Are you are you constantly irritated about the things that need doing? Are you just kind of accepted, and I accept it. I mean, rotate cars servants, Ted. It's all about variety. You know before. I mean, I just bought a thirty five hundred dollar nine forty four. So it's a running driving call. So how can you go wrong? It's thirty five hundred dollars nine forty four that runs in the wrong. If it needs ten grand worthy stuff. He's like entry level into Porsche. So for me, I'm still I'm still in love with the brand that being a fan of it for over forty years. It's intoxicated, and it's all that stuff. So for me, it's all about variety. And it's all about the drive, and it's an exciting thing. So what's in your what's in your five car dream collection? Okay. Starting with Porsche the three I think but touring on new one, but touring. Yeah. I know. Raised more under stated RS, new RS way too. Stiff for like just. Yeah. Yes. It's rough. I really liked the G G T from Reseda. That too. Yeah. Either either one. I mean fantastic cars, I will say also the bent Lee continental GT. Yeah. I am telling the story when we drove up to Monterey in that co. I mean, we smoked at Ghani in that car. That's the star. We smoked Connie. We we drove the wrong, we drove nine hundred miles in that car on one tape gas. I mean, I'm going I'm going on new cars. We made it to Laguna Seca. All right. How does? Is that three fifty minutes on one tank of gas and for the record we drag race and five seventy and a seven twenty valley ran to hire seven twenty nine, but we beat the five seven real car that is a fantastic car for for broach. Awesome. And I d like how it looks. You cannot judge a car based on who owns it. It's not fair. So if it like a lot of people like, oh, it's just like, the g wagon. Well. Come on. Okay. So number four G Mercedes to you, again, we're talking new cars here. The new g it's great. What happened? All there's. No, there's no space in it. It's not really different than the old one. I heard that. But it's in my has no space it, no, no space. It has a little more than the previous generation, but still really know car, honestly, truly, the only different new thing is the front on headline. The headlights are different and dashboard has surfboard the cool surfboard Mercedes, which is cool. I see. That's cool. It's the same car. Okay. Sorry. It's an icon as and change for forty years as a reason for that. I like it. I apologize about that. And get it in Liege AM G GT three D three year. Yeah. G wagon. I'm talking new cars. And then let's see throw a classic in there. Ooh. Ooh. I guess say the Lotus. Syria, and you won't even driven one. The works problem. The thing about that car. Really like it's going to engage you in motion Maly isn't a motion thing, I better and worse than come on the go great for me does have a lot of character. Tunes heads woman's Coon tests. This car is not the same wedge. Yes. Yeah. About the same. I mean, the pop up headlights, they probably share the same hardly. Wpro hardly do this car. This needs to be the number one. Whoever owns it wasn't to try to your number one car. It takes a lot of love and affection. You can't let it go. You can't like let it just fall to the wayside. It's a high maintenance car, you even LA low to sky get gonna handle that. Well, you know, Schalke can handle anything. I don't have. They had they their secondary specialties vintage Lotus, right? I've driven the revolt recently got the Lotuses spree. They went on the driving while awesome tool that avoid that. They've got. He's also I'm a big have you driven a four hundred know of no four hundred rule really won't run. You've had one you owned one. I I got a semi long-term for like a month and a half from. Okay. It was awesome is great drove gray house a space inside the cabin good. It's good. The space itself is good. But it falls victim to a problem that a lot of cars. Fall victim to which is that you have enough headroom, but that the windshield itself. So even though you're fit you have to hunch either have to lean back or hunch down. But it's reasonably spacious. Yeah. It's nice. It's nice. Let's get we got a bunch of questions, folks. All these we've got a bunch of questions votes. We've got these. It's funny. We shock you though. Because you. Shawqi sent me a text. I don't know what to do with my. Oh, jeez. I would find the foamy mobile one of these angels pills. Gnaws? I guess we left it in the car. Oh, no. That's okay. Seems what did it say shocking? He sent me a take some we said we're heading down his so, oh, this is completely wrong. So big shot to shot. Look. Folks, we're gonna do this for the next thirty before we call the game. And so if you want to get it on this get in the super chat right now live folks j Owens says a loving contact. Thank you very much looking to get my I p car leading towards a nine nine seven two wheel drive manual is the GTS worth the premium over a Carreira s because it's getting into turbo money, and I hate center locks which the most GTS comes with the car will be fifty percent cruising thirty percents spirited driving twenty percent track. GTS at the top of the budget here. Well, GTS is awesome of driven the promotes warm, but in stock form also Olsen, but I will say I think nine nine seven gen one is the best bang for the buck. They are not non gene and get it for under thirty thousand dollars. So I would say, you know, Jen, one nine hundred seven non GTS onto but would be the way to go. But back to the question GTS is it worth the premium over? A career s because you get that GT three engine, but with the soft suspension each to their own turbo money. I always get a turbo upstate get nine seven turbos a stout car. Faucheux you can you can crank it up a little bit. You'd have a little fun in dry, most behaved center locks not all turbos come with center locks. So, you know, one of the two of us can with the Senate look so regulatory Bo don't we about a looks. Stay boosted nine nine seven one. Turbo. Is where we would go, sir. Max says I've always wanted to be an auto writer. I'm twenty one. Now, I have a review column. Weekly press cars. Good connections. Fuck. I mean, I think you're doing really good. Yeah. I got my first press car was twenty nine. So you're well ahead of me your head of the game. I would say editors only care about your byline there. I mean, truly if you come in with your resume. They're gonna say well show me what you've written exact, so, but he says advice for continuing growth keep doing what you're doing keep your name clean establish a really good reputation. Keep doing what you're doing. I would say keep on keep it on trying to crash anything if you're gonna feel good reputation on that. Adum? And if you have your own column, like maybe chance omitting to other outlets that might want to have you spread the wealth and be able to do a lot of things like photograph video through right? I mean, that's kind of the reality. And maybe practiced by writing some editorial that aren't reviews that's actually most people just want to write carve us. No, no, no. Rated rights metals. Right. Thank you, sir. Rafah's garage says is the nine thirty one a special portion or just a badge VW at a nine. Thirty one Magnus is nine twenty four. Turbo. I have three of them is pushes I front engine water cooled. Turbo. The highlight of the bunch is nine twenty four Karachi t Bush made four hundred and six of them. It is a special Porsche. So it's not just a Volkswagen. Even though it kind of is Volkswagen. Severe w Audi is really what it is. But it supporting you know, I say if this apportion badgen it is supporter, and that's why I'm all about variety. I literally have three of them one of them stalk like that one of them's nine twenty four Karachi T and the other one's y'all hall, but wipe what buddy special that thing. So a special portion. Yeah, I think they're Porsches. The little cars. Look at nine fourteen is a Porsche. She lost the US spec. One right there with a side indicators and the full Laguillier full wheels. Instead, it's five years this nine, well, let's kind of like a nine twenty four crow. GT right there. I'm sure I'm surprised yours is not coming up may. Well, look the same. They all looks pretty awesome right to sell them. Bring a trail that one looks good. At least it was for sale and bring it for embrace rather at some point. All right. Let's go back to the questions. Thank you host. Co host Mitch says I just purchased a an Audi s three any thoughts on APR tunes and bolt ons. They are good. Yeah. APR's very conservative. They don't tend to blow up a lot of cars. If you get a consumer grade. Tune and consumer grade bolt on parts VS three they will enhance it s is same as the Gulf are pretty much in the chassis and powertrain department, and you can certainly get a little more juice out of those things with consumer grade bolt ons and knowing that they are safe to run you don't start running into risks. I mean, the two leader t FSI Volkswagen engine is pretty stout. So until you start breaking the four hundred to the wheels. Mark you're pretty safe to run those cars. So I say, yes, APR is good. That's a good answer. FTC group says from just a quick great content emphas- thing true to what your channel want to be something. Thanks. Thanks for the Andrew says. Oh, yeah. Please. Give a shout out to Paul and taught at everyday driver. Do you guys know miss week is man, they do a show called everyday driver. And someone broke into their rental minivans, stole all their gear. They had to go there. They were partially covered by insurance. And they had a go fund me that that raised quite a bit of money, but they will be able to replace all of their dear but shutout to Paul and Todd we love them. They're great, folks. And they have an open seat in his podcast when they get back and they get all their gear replaced. It's fucked. David says, I read today that all future lamb, Bose will be V8. hybrids. On the future of sports cars without with no more than a non now. No, more turbos, maybe hybrids and electric. What do you think? Everything I've heard from Marie te'o Reggiani who's the head of our dot com. I love him from. This Lamborghini will continue to do v twelve until the end of days there ended to that they're committed, and they I don't know where this story ran. But everything I hear in person from the executives at Lamborghini is they're doing v twelve and they are not on board with hybrids at all they're on board with potentially electric things. But. I would really question that I would really question that I just Google Lamborghini hybrid only, and I can't. Yes. It's it's soup. I see. I see the headlines. Yes, I see them. But if you talk to the executives they all say, our customers want b twelve and we're going to do be twelve Rolls, Royce. Right. And they still making this motive. Motive. They're like they're super proud of the new events. Jay, that's some old school shit that car. Yeah. I mean. Yes, you're right. You see the headline same as we do. But if you talk to the executives there on the twelve cylinder. I wouldn't be surprised if they the Ariss if they offer a hybrid navy and the in may offer a hybrid sports car at some point. But maybe that's a phone call. The have you driven one. We. Tracking Rome on the launch. I'm going to the west. And like a couple of weeks. I loved it. Yes. Yes. Michiel book and used to. Yes. To design it Lamborghini and big fan of the big Gubbay, especially I went to the launch party in L A well Seulamat opponent. It's a little strange looking to join it. Dr everything was weird looking to it first came out. No, I no longer care. Sure. I mean, wait till you drive the earth. It's phenomenal. You know, what I was impressed by without driving it at the earth that I could fit in the back seat. Yeah. It did. It look like I could could I'm holding an open mind. Yeah. Yeah. I think you'll get. I really like it. It's really good. I'm guessing the launch that thermal. I don't probably Palm Springs. Nothing off road those world. We don't think they'll be they'll be doing that. I mean, I could I could sail it off turned five minutes. Test to the all wheel drive. Shrek easy. One seven one says should I hold out for the mid engine Hyundai RAM sixteen. I don't know what that is know what that is. No or sell much few Hyundai are M16. BMW keep the beam. That's my that's my I drove when Morris inclination. Oh, that's pretty cool. How's that? Really? What this is full that look is that. Wow. Okay. If this is the thing, it looks like a Reynaud, Cleo sport. Cleo, six doesn't it? The ring. The ring everyone mean if they really make this. I don't know if we're talking residual values keeps us. I don't know. No. He's American or sell my twenty fifteen m to thirty five I now and get an Audi RS three amid engine. Hatch would be too cool to pass up. I've not trivial. Have you driven a lot of mid engine hatchbacks? No push into the make minimum. Chris Harris has driven all the mid engine hatchbacks over in Europe. He says they all seem like good ideas until you drive them. And they have very twitchy BMW. Keep the BMW gruesome. I'm not a big m to thirty-five I fan if you like it keep it if not the Audi RS three rules. Zachary says I would love to hear Magnusson thoughts on his oh, he did his sixty three. I am. I have ever driven. I am not drive. Drive yours. Sure. No pro. No problem. I've driven ninety six turbos and different Arafat. I love to try to do three. If I can try yours. That'd be amazing. It's like a better version of nine and seven GT three. Just didn't stop quite as good. A better version. I think so really. I think you would know nine seventy degrees. One of my favorites. Wait till six fair enough. I will reserve Jack says, hey, Magnus, how do you feel about the seven one eight Caymans and Boxsters I know you own a few nine twenty four thousand nine forty four year, not anti four-cylinder big fan of the Cayman essentially, the missing piece of my mid engine, Porsche puzzle. You know, I've got the nine fourteen that covers the cooled. What I'm chasing is a first gen Cayman water cold obviously to cover the mid engine water cooled car so big fan of the came in. And we spoke about Alex's show works earlier on well. Those gay guys did with came in GT foist such an awesome car the gearing the way where they need to undo the fifth and sixth the fifth and sixth. Don't eat too short. The split second you shift out a second into third gay. You know, something's different with that co one hundred percents one of my just you just don't need to do fifth and sixth. Yeah, you keep that stock. Right. You just go, you know, address that ever Cisco to Sacramento at five thousand rpm. Fifty six to show. So I guess the question I'm actually looking for a first gen Cayman on one of my favorite pushes really new pushes is came and GT fool. But you ducked. The question what he meant was the seven one eight came in which has the new four cylinder. Well, that's on the list to I haven't driven that call you. Drove one Hannah seven one eight oh, no seven at not yet. They're giving given the old came in. But not the new one they're very fast and don't sound as good as the sixes collection the beginning. So I thought with the beginning of a generation not yet at nine twenty four the first generation three. The sixty four nine eleven in general, you can have possibly even more fun in came than nine eleven. There are more particularly on attract track more, predictable Superfund. GTS is fastest takes confidence. Drive them convents. And know that it's a fun car. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Thank you, Jack lecture life at its best says, what are your thoughts on the Mercedes one ninety two point six sport line machine? Machine collectible car one day. That's a tough one to four pull it up. Take a look. My initial reaction is of course. Yeah. Of course, you will. Oh, of course, we're pretty much about it. I'm sorry. W two. Oh one excuse. You have to have patience. Of course, that's beautiful. I mean, a rising tide lifts all boats and the Cosworth are coming up. What I know about these cars is that there are virtually on kill lable. You cannot kill them. It's Mercedes three drivers are ever driven. These cars. People go back to get more of a sure bet than something like this from that's just stint. I mean, you're not going to become a millionaire off it. But you're not gonna lose money. I think you could buy one drive it for five years and for exactly what you paid for the very least. Yeah. At the very least their stout. All right. I mean, they're not like fun. We'd probably on Craigslist right straight away on Craigslist. I mean, collectible a lot. So this show a lot of folks ask about future collectibles. Oh. Yeah. Eighty nine as always. And if you're lucky you don't lose anything if you're lucky you don't lose anything right from well. For me. My timing was I always bought what I liked, and I seem to be way ahead of what other people like by that. I mean, I owned a lot of short wheelbase 'cause super foldable. Same thing happened with early three Lita to bows when nobody wanted to also flipped in you that sixty five sixty five then you I've got one of every year from sixty four going float. But you had you had one that a friend of mine by texted you about it was like a little a little ratty. Maybe it was white with a red interior. And you just sold it in like twenty four hours or something. I've owned a lot of calls, you know, some super memorable seminar, but to me, so it's like by what you like what you like and drive what you likes people ask me will time. You know, what do you think about this call that car? What's your favorite Porsche, or whatever it may be just say by what you like in this apportioned budget is a push call for every budget, the five ground bucks the five grand nine forty four. You know, you get into the sort of tea. Twenties. Like, we're talking about the Jen one nine nine seven by that call from the thirty grand call for a lot of money. So I was saved by what you like. And if it goes up great, but let's be a taste maker. You could be a taste make hey, you don't have to listen to someone else's doesn't have to be a portion can be a lot of other brands to totally it'll be a Lotus or Mercedes or Volvo or Volvo. I'm hoping my my v. Eight hundred are one two nine L goes up. You what's going on with the million mile Lexus? It's at nine hundred ninety seven thousand miles we met we met those guys at bar occurring. Denver around pikes peak last year. Oh was that. Anna an Anton the Bulgarian blows guys were drivers. You'll be all. Yeah. We met him in in Tykes well Pike's peak. They're sweet they put like fifteen thousand miles cool. There was it's now with the fan in Indiana who has like a like a five hundred mile a week commute. And he's he's putting while I was on it. And he's giving it back to me right before when I hit a million miles soon. Probably January pretty soon. Exciting. You know what? You know, what it's been a fun project. And so I bought that car on like one of the first on the first trip I ever took with my now fiancee Hannah, Anna. We we're getting married in April going to hit a million like just behind his miss pretty cool that has to be the honeymoon co- come on. Oh my gosh. The honeymoon. Coney mood will be me no longer having to pay the insurance on that. Because I have a commercial insurance policy on it because well, the company owns it. And oh God forbid, I loaned it to somebody and they get drunk and run over. By house. So I'll tell you something it costs more to ensure here's some fucking real world depressing shit. It costs more to ensure that car annually than it costs to ensure my Coon Tosh. Ooh. How do you ensure the Coon tells you? Twenty five hundred mile you think it's three thousand. Yeah. But yeah, yeah. Haggerty. Haggerty. Hooks it up there. Good good. Good guys. Go. The next question. Moving on. Hosting on Canadian bacon says what is that? Examples of car co branding. The question. What is what is? I had a when I was I had a Nautica mercury villager. When I was that takes the cake. I actually think Breitling for Bentley is worse. Watches their bent watches. It's really unfortunate because Breitling is not on the same level. As bentley. It's it's very hustle. Nice watches, but they're not in the watch. What are you wearing their watch? Go. I'm wearing a Rolex explorer too. I know it's boring. You Porsche designed seventy. Oh, I watched the. I like that they are more than just simply co branded that they actually are watch manufacturer tone of co branding. What would you think about a war Vena one nineteen seventy five year? Gee, this is a really well. Here's a question. What would you think about a Magnus wool capoche design watch? Is that a thing? I'm just asking. What would you think about it? I think it'd be really cool. I wouldn't buy one just like, I think you're steering wheels. Really cool, but I'm not going to buy some name hose. I respect that. If you really I think I think you'd sell them though. I think people would buy them. Yeah. You saw those steering wheel's. They sold out. Really cool. Yeah. That's fucking RAD. So every minute come on. I'm only kidding. No. And your dope. Fifty fifty two wheels. Why you gotta keep on rolling. A great example of of car co branding the Magnus Walker. Fifteen fifty two those are great on the Ken block will come on. Let's let's not for backs rule. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Those guys are awesome. I mean, we brought that wheel collaboration out like four years ago, and we still rolling so big. So making them, right. Yes. We'll make goodwill. Yeah. She get him in twenty inch nineteen inch put on your nine hundred seventy motto blog, right there, it probably would look good on the night seven this big demand from the literally go from fifteen inch to twenty inch. So, but anyway, let's whole nother conversation right there. That's a good example and says I need new tires for my leg. Question has a Michelin LT X date coated and dry rotted get off. No, man. Should I spend extra for the Michelin's? Yes. Age out before where? Yes. Yes. I have a hash tag on Twitter that I use a lot. We just hash tag. Just get the Michelin's spend the extra money to tires tires are everything just every, you know, people like, you know, do these performance spills and then skimp on tires as the contact patch to the road. Yeah. And by the way, at six thousand miles a year, they will pro if you buy brand new tires and drive a car six thousand miles a year. They probably won't age out before they wear out. It'll probably be about the same. It'll be worth your while. I'm in Zagorje says what are your thoughts on nine eight one came in with the six engine? Is it a good bye right now? I think they are. I think so. Come on a six cylinder came in is a good bye right now. I would say, yes, sir. It is a good thing. Sound very nice billard. We got a couple of those one the says Matt right there. I'm reading that one. This is it you said in the past that the e thirty BMW with the s fifty four swap was the best BMW ever driven. True. I'm currently building one. I'm curious. How you compare the driving experience to classic eighty nine eleven. Okay. All right. So you're talking about a front engine rear-drive car as opposed to a rear ended car. Nothing. Nothing else. Feels like a nine eleven right magnum nothing else. Right. The however the eighties the ether tea with the s four swap was very fast very manic. Very raw. It had all the things. I like about BMW at none of the things. I don't like about the Nubian w but you know, you're talking about a highly customized car it didn't really at an eighty nine eleven. It felt a little more modern for sure. And it was faster. It was definitely there's not a lot of eighty nine eleven's I've driven that were faster than that car. But it was fucking cool. And if you're building one you should is rowdy is an eighty eight BMW e thirty two door with an e forty six m three complete drive train sounds fun rowdy three hundred and fifty horsepower. It was off just drove when m one two days going Paul BMW was old fug that thing was a one Eminem won like the mid engine. You were saying one to me, what am I wasn't there? I wasn't there. A new thing. Hello. Graham, this is it up. That's my that's that video right there that radio this one about a watch. What is that? What is that? Right. You want him? That's a one m. Great. Yeah. From the seventies. The one from the seventy driven and also like a slow Lamborghini that we're at. Yeah. I mean, I'm a big fan of a two thousand two I'm a big fan of three point zero batmobile. I'm a fan of an won- that one him though, that things go through and forty fifty like a border story Potomac we were just talking about that on the last show that car is great don't even say one year. Yeah. It's one of the few BMW's that actually has more engine the chassis. Yeah. It's rare that it'd be dot com. He's awesome. They're worth a lot of money. And so he thirty with an SSD four engine. Thank you should keep that guy recommended on it. He he shouldn't Chelsea goodbye. Six the new one or an old Welwyn good. Those are good goodbyes to. Donation for beer. Thanks. Good night. If you're in Oregon Dante zero says, I'm seeing Patrick George from Jellab Nikki bought an eighty seven series. I think he bought thirty five with a manual or seven thirty three with a manual. Eight fifty. So you really I liked that. They're cool. Doesn't seem like your taste. But I'm getting serious about finding my mom's dream BMW which are best for non stick Lux leaning drive. What is that a two that's a three pedal-car, I think for for non sake. He's to peddle nonstick is to peddle. That's what I'm saying. Oh, I apologize. I would say get the JAMES BOND e thirty eight oh, who which is my favorite luxury BMW where we get a good picture here. Which is this guy, which is the short wheelbase seven forty. I sport which I love. There's nothing wrong with that. I can see you like in you'd call that clutch. Call that a clutch automob- ads. Has nothing that car out. That's like a tough on care. Just on a three pests still, man. And his mom. Yes. Needs that. Let's see Jeff says I met you both at various tracks. Your genuine is fuck that. I'm looking at a manual sixteen or seventeen GTI for a new daily driver in Ohio thoughts. Nice cars performance back. If you can get it if you are tune if you can get it snow tires are a must go for what I would say. That's all they're they're nice cars GT, the controls are very light. Also, maybe test drive a focus ST the steering is a little sharper. But that's that's just when you go to focus right sold it sold it. Yeah. Some 'cause I worship you going to push when a Coon too. Let's see petro heads says, what is your favorite place visited during your Portland Trail? Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. I gotta read a says. Hey, gang met you to alms e. The gathering was great seeing you one hundred can't for what was your favorite place in Portland. Well, we visit a lot of really really cool places, we visited Nike for the first time that campus was awesome. We treat a really really nicely there by a bunch of. Folks. I fucking thing. We went in Portland was pretty awesome. I would say Nike campus knock which I didn't go to. But I've been to many times at four and then skyline drive. Oh, we drive on skyline. Drive up above the PT me that was our favorite. Is a continuation of the skyline drive from San Francisco is a completely different Scott probably separate it's over Cornelius pass Germantown anybody from Portland, we'll know that area. Great driving road. I'll fuck with that. And beautiful leave big shout out to Chris jewelry for loan nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine six four. Thank you very much for that. You get Porsches from like, friends and fans all the how the people. P PP is amazing. Real quick Kevin says C sixty three s convertible or BMW M forecast in for you say four for sure it's tight I say C sixty three S C sixty three day. It sounds better. I prefer a soft top to a full time. I like a hard top. I have why why is soft top? So. Yeah. Yeah. Because it's lighter. Yeah. The I like the ascetic hardtop fair. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. That's fair. Yeah. Split the difference BMW or Mercedes. Oh, that's really really tough really to him to be. Oh, he wasn't going to go against his lady. I'm not surprised how we got four left. And then we're calling the game. I know Magnus into subtle designs on cars. But what do you think about the Gump Apollo? I e which is this. Well, you one step ahead. You already have the car up there. I mean. Okay. You know, it's an interesting time with high because you know, they seems to be a lot of interesting stuff coming out. I've never driven one. It looks cool looks aggressive. But until you drive it Ferrari v twelve well how about can that be LS motor? Yeah. Well, I say thumbs up. It looks like if in black Dauth Veda drove a co that might be it. It's real crazy. Looking wait. Could maybe maybe we could find one another color. Here's a yellow what do you think about a yellow prefer the black? I to these doesn't work in some weird way reminds me of a vector. Remember, the vector? Oh, yeah. Yes. I remember a vector that they're going to sell six of them. Yeah. I mean, I I want the opportunity to drive up a Ghani wire. I drove. I wasn't necessarily in love with that car. Behind the Necker - Colin Walker
If it scouting we have it covered. We're going to be walking in the holiday parade. We have lots of votes and help you have Fun Radio greater hob column. Walker back again on sketching Cohen, probably one of our most difficult reporters too tight because he travels the globe so much Cullen. What have you been up to since we last art? Well, just in. I'm very lucky to be a why in India wall to wall sunshine every day when the whole he was. He was enjoying his worst. Winter snows longtime way will about just over three weeks. We went to Kerala, which is on the western side of India. Just just sure anchor. It was unique. I really because I didn't encounter a single scout. Well, not quite true. I talked to two flu were scout movement, but I didn't encounter. Scotty scout UNIFIL take fron worst license headquarters of scouting in corral was into town. Unfortunately, I didn't. Visit great. Great. Shame. However, however, when we came back from India at the week, it's home, and then I went to the white where I've never been before into the voice. I don't believe you can't go trumpeting the world watches a lot. It seems. Okay. So what the nation of the first Newport home? God, not all got home. Not. I'm getting computers. My second world wobble. No. I knew port Newport is capital of the Isla wild. Yes. I was there. Invitation of the first Newport old guard scout troop. Now when I tell you what we were celebrating. I want you to try and think hard about importance with these words that he was celebrating that one hundred and tenth anniversary, which means they must they have to be one of the first groups, which you would have started in nineteen eighty s. What year is it? Now, just in to tighten eighteen so one hundred hundred they would have to have started in nineteen eighty s. Well, actual fact they started in one thousand nine hundred seven alright which makes them very which makes them unique nearly set very unique down very neat. They they were started by a person who worked in the white territory was a member they are white territory on me who started the scout group on the island of whites cooled. What did he call the nine thousand nine hundred seven. He's got the word young niche. I'm the words scouts new new Vectis reticent the Latin word, they all white and EKO is got through the Vectis juvenile scouts in nineteen hundred and seven. Using Bayden Powell's aids. The scout in which he wrote in the nineteen hundred for soldiers using that as a guide. He's not gonna scout grew how he hits on the woods scouts. I don't know. But that was in nineteen hundred seven cre- dating scout, you voice now when Scott was written in January nineteen o eight he read it, and they made it they transferred the group over to being Biden Powell scout troop, but that is one of the few groups in in the world. Who could really say that the scouting started in one thousand nine hundred seven now while you were there did you get to meet up with Malcolm Cox? No, I don't remember the night. Now if he's listening to this. I did mocha them berry. Sorry. I hope you did. Because Malcolm is our main guy for the eye of the voice. And he looks after the media team on the island as well. So hopefully match them. Yes. The my evening with them was well-publicized, lots of people came including some some people that I've never met would have known for a long time. That's right. And then later on in the week because we were that week nice run into week on the tool scouting to. I a group professional group of businessmen retired business called provos on the provos. Okay. A forty forty members of this club two things. I've found amazing one is the off forty of them were there. No apologies. Right. He must see thing was begun to talk because I always begin much when talking to non scouting groups last him too. But one hand up if that would be the scout co accessory and on the other hand is that got children or grandchildren who were scouts? I think this is the first non scout Roop on ever spoken to where everybody put the Honda. Why does what Elsa? Yes. So so the ruled on sewing, so you asked me would have been doing apart from that. I've got a book that I'm busy busy busy renting the minute. We overdo because I did want British last year. But you recall that I wrote the book in nineteen fourteen scouts war volume. One. The great wall had to be brought out in two thousand fourteen one hundred dollars bursary. So we don't have quite the same. Hurry to produce a book on the second World War because that began in nineteen thirty nine until two thousand thirty nine. I hope you're still it's still going up. That's not the move on. So probably some people that we ready, but let's go were union, but he will be ready for this one. So on another occasion just in. We can go into some really really amazing things. Obvious school, which I tend to do when I get into research mode that I'd up before which I think are astounding we can talk about those on another obsolete. I the purpose of this show, Colin is we're doing a new series called behind the Necker and what we demonstrate to listeners is all on tears. Well, ninety nine point nine nine percent of us are volunteers in the in the scape movement. And so we're going to different people, and we're starting off with our presenters reporters by giving a little background of their life and skating. What career they ended up going into and their favorite moment. So I'm going to start off Collins, we go to week this could take long listeners, and we're going to start off by asking you. When what age were you when you join skating, right? Well, I was I was born in nineteen forty five. So I tell you that I joined scouting in nineteen fifty two not should ring something along Bill because the official there were no bieber's. So most people started that their deduction discounting in wolf copes and the official who joining wall Globes is a as yes, I joined when I was seven. Oh, I lived in a village. And there weren't meant to many of the children in this village. So the the local Capac to pity on me and allowed to join and I stayed with the Capac for four years and do house as the senior sixer, which meant have three bands of my arm. And our neck achieve that could save up the forty so got beat. While I was green and yellow, and it was explained to me, very nice those were scouting colors. It was a very special Negga cheap. So one half of the Netease left. Downside was drain on the right side was yellow and that was it. Was it? The divide down the middle of the back of the Neckar my first Nikki double what I was her first. And now, I I know a bit of Dave this nurse thought. And then became a teacher in your career. Joke. Okay. Well, we go go go to your skate life. We're going to your Scott life. I if. Okay. Well, yeah, I did become a teacher. And. I went to training college. When I was AT having been a member of this out the school scout through deacon school ten so could be and it's Neka chain was ninety blue juice navy-blue, a news. Extremely good scout troop, in fact, it used to when all district competitions, which I'm sure annoyed a lot of people. But also those days there was the scouting commission of a school scout troops, and it was his job to inspect school scout troops opened down the country. Now goes this would include the big public schools house on a big public school. It was it was a grammar school. But our school true used to regularly coming to top three of the best out troops in the language. Very proud of that. So when I was nineteen teacher training college. I expect to the when I came back in threes time, I would be able to join the Rover crew, but in nineteen sixty eight they did away with sunspots report this banded Rovers. And and then in that place, they made a new section scout movement cold venture scouts. So as berry disappointed that I couldn't become a rose aerobics count something up remedied sin. So we talk about innovate. So. So when I came back to my hometown of three years at teacher training college. I became a venture scout leader in the venture scouting started with higher street. But Reggie scout unit the hot uphill blue neck achieve. You're gonna you come from pre to dark blue light blue. Okay. So that was great. That has some great times invention. It was a new it was a new dimension in in scouting. And it won't little bit light room scouting in. Everybody was expected to to come to boot to the running of it. The the leader that was made was meant to lead from from the back. The the venture scout unit would have a executive and the executive would decide on the program on the lead. That may was that used to say that it was only state legal, which was sometimes been a struggle. But we did enjoy that. That was great. We went on X editions who went to Cosa Karrar coal. We did mounting firemen. Walking swimming, not just another expedition with that's what we did on ours. They're in peach Bor with high street just venture Scott for two years. So then we moved from there to to the mice second joke because I teach Jovan came back from him. To join in college. But my second job them was in Sheffield and Sheffield. I started another venture scout unit. So that was called the drum field now in this mission. To isn't this mission? Just in account. Remember the colors of the. Okay. Yeah. But I took all those between world kkob's skates. Ventures teacher training. You must have one camp that really resonate in your mind column. And if. UPN all over you've been to brain Zealand under seventeen year dust, one of your thunders memories. I I know, but if I was to say name, the top three moments in your skating career or life that you've had that you could say would absolutely amazing camps or campfires or jamborees. What would it be? Well, the number one without hesitation in the hobby. Do straight away was. In august. Nineteen fifty seven. Coalfield that was the world young burry, the centennial world jamboree now account kind of being a camper 'cause I would have been too young. Always only nineteen fifty seven. I was twelve years old school scout through was come in. Don't doubt Dhabi share as it happened on only only a mile away from the Walton hotel web Aidan power, pasta Scotty, boys. But I didn't know that. This. I told you the scout Deka school scout through next sexual scout troop, and we had no less than five of our senior scalps were out the world jamboree as members of the contingent and ask out muster. Who's a great man court? We'll so he decided that he would go to take us to the world hungry for the day. So got on board a bus an off we went to the world jamboree, and I can remember he said to us as we go out of the stories that now allows he said, you'll be swapping badges at the world number, and I want you to know show could feed Uber, but is worth at least two of everybody else's. True. So we went to find senior scouts without wasn't the point the point was that until that time I had seen Giorgi state. Right. So I knew manageable town of preach Burr that sixty thousand people that were a lot of people a lot of people's in your day, so scouting balls and just something in the scouts. Our new it was which warranted or not. But the world jamboree blew my socks off. There were it's very hard to put into world was you couldn't walk fifty odd without saying a troop moving down one of the roads. And and if there was Scottish, they'd be back cards if there were begin had been so sore edge skirts, and they'd be dumping the Y along. And it was just unbelievable. But. I can't begin to tell you the impact that that had honest, and we were extremely lucky because when we went back to ask outcome in jail, the jamboree finished sudden coalfield, but the Rover scouts went on a tour of Britain. Unbelievably they came part themselves for an overnight. Come in the next field. The field that we were company. Oh. To the campfire. So I think that must have been about two hundred Rovers and how a scout you and they will from all over the world speaking in marriage of tunes. But the big thing to me of twelve years old when you for twelve years old, and you're looking of somebody who's six to their Manley. Yes. Yeah. The world man that were Rovers well of would have been 'cause burger age was was seventeen to twenty seven then seventies definitely amount. But I thought. This counting was for boys. Very. Yeah. I'm seeing seeing Mary's of young men. Yes. I'm countless come on come come. So for some some all over the world where are totally an ugly power to what was going on. Yes. Does a mess of Skyping column? In the jug and one that was formative that made me the person. I am today. I realized I was part of his inclusive who worldwide family called scouting which are getting a fall then and not count getting evolve. Now. That's a great question. We're going to go into your school as a bit because your skill days. Even as a teacher you mentioned. You went from. Being Skyping venture to being a leader. So even as a leader capacity. Would you say you have a memory of an amazing touch? You took dot group on. Mentioned fact that we went to Corsica. Yes, now that was something of an expedition that would be in about what without be nineteen sixty seven ish of him. He had too many Busse most is one of which belong to the scout leader on the other one. Which was hi giant row? And we have is absolutely wonderful camp. In course, which is very exciting mountainous country with beautiful Beattie's. So we didn't so backward swimming, and we did some so mountaineering a fantastic time until one day before the end of the coun- we were traveling along a very Rocky Mountain road on the cliff edge going around the coastline came in Darvish and clouted the minibus the Dr was driving. God you're looking you're looking Mouana wanna key. But unfortunately, the minibus was not not drivable. So these. The other minibus with the scout leader that went off back to England. But he couldn't take my crew my minibus. So we have to make our way back. To England through through the whole of friends. Our own initiative with exter- parties in the person. In is got so and especially arrangement with the IRA see the in the event of Motrin accident, we could use these vouches they have given us a booklet all these bounce us would pay for everything because that's what we're insured fall. Okay. So I went to the Godley. No, I think it was in maths. I probably got probably wasn't the garden. But anyway, is my station in Marseilles, and presented these browsers that we want to go to to to buy a nice said, well, you'll need to pay these are AC batches. And they said what is the racing? So they wouldn't honor the. I got about what eight people in get unit who travelled on my books, and I got to get them back to two great route. Yes. Yeah. Well, what would you do? They went to we went on the train, okay? To came out with it. It's like the explorer belts. So anyway, the long story short we did get back to England and it was one adventure. So so that was our listeners are going to ask how many days to take you to get back on type of rings? Well. The state the train that left to go to Kelly was most of the day. But for some reason when there was a strike what I don't remember. We couldn't go to Kelly. We had to go to the next channel port. And so we got the channel four is now quite late in the evening. And I thought well, we haven't we haven't got tickets for the boat either. Because. That they will they will with the other group. It was in the minibus because it was brought book. I can remember going up the gun line and saying come sweet to the purse and expect expected to explain to him. Our sock store in Tara ourselves on these mercy. And he said he came saw big big, man. And he said, oh, he said you scout. Start worry come on. Just let you on and to the program. You know, what's funny listeners is this isn't the first story you'll hear in the skating world of people having problems like that. Flashing their Necker going come on help assay. And things like that happening. So. The you've you've had a whole family Cullen to sketching in different ways between your son your grandson being involved in one of the neckers that I was going to talk about was the world jamboree Necker. Not applaud jamboree that. I was my son was acted in in nineteen ninety nine. Okay. It was of British contingent that went to the world jamboree in Chile. Why? Okay. Now that was an exciting jamboree to Goto because the political leader of the time into the was among gold general finish that's rife the British government and a lot of other people around the world a great difficulties with and Mrs Thatcher came up under house arrest in Britain. When he visit thrice, okay? So so the the leader of Jimmy is locked douse arrest in Britain. I'm we're going to send the continued into a world jamboree in Chile, including my son now time, I will. I was the Chattan of central Yoshida scout county. Okay. So nominally, I suppose very concerned with a hall of the continuing from whom centrally ought you're going to Chile not not. Smicer and Scott sociation said, well, this presents the great difficulty we taking advice from from the foreign office. And we haven't my decision. Her will let you know on the continue was due to travel on Boxing Day, nineteen ninety nine and I think it was on Christmas Eve, they decided the contingent would go some Joe went and he got his his neck now just out of interest. It wasn't until I was visiting scouting friends in new-zealand that one of them took me to visit his local come side, and he proudly explained that if the nine thousand nine nineteen ninety nine world jamboree had to become so than an alternative and been ranged. And it was on this very campsite that we were visiting in New Zealand. We nobody knew at the time. So they did have a content plan had a contingent Seapower for the contingent. Yeah. This is going to be the most difficult question. I'm gonna ask you to conclude this unwrap it up bitch. If you were to name a song. Described your scouting life. What would it be at? Why? Well, he's got to begin gang girlie girlie girlie. What you're getting good? Okay. This is a co prequel said the campfire later would say now he said this. This is very important Scotty song because it contains words from every language in the world. Yes. Yeah. That's true. Is just one heck of a Larry's Moodley rump. Not not that is a good instruction of my scouting Greer. Because the so many stories this nurse ads. You know, if your regular this nurse disguising, learn that Cullum has heart money money stories to tell he's been all over the globe. He's a skater story. And he's probably knows scouting inside out. He has bait. Empower stars aren't he has his Necker there on hand to show all is your Rover Necker there it is. Now, I said she in when I came out to teacher training coach Rovers, it's been the polish my I'm Bishen to be Rover was frustrated. Varnished in advance part report of. Nineteen seventy eight. So how come on in a Rover neck achieve and I'm a very keen, bro. Scouts. Well, it's because when I came to live at my presence dress. I was made aware of a Trump with announce scout county who was a Rover. Whereas I never was he he had been enrolled as a Rover. He invited me to join a Rover crew that he was starting now after explain the everybody in this road crew, which is the fame MOVA crew everybody in this role crew is a paid up member of the scouts association with an active role in scouting we choose to carry on the traditions Rover it, which is you know, motto is service. Yes. And so we give a lot of service with enough Scott district in this county on the go. Whoa power. And we're all very proud to be members of this association. But we continue to dishes out ring. Which Bayden Powell started in nineteen twenty nine and most remind our listeners start only recently you went to customers like yes. Yes. Counter stuck in Switzerland for the first time, and that was really really good because met somebody go who was a Rover and dairy was a candidate. And he was he was a staffer at Cam saying, so he was able to show us around. And I always say Brown's the island is obvious. Most everybody was go to brands on them. But come to stay as got the international dimension scouting Joel popped a bit obvious place go, but those three places appropes this most special scouting places are bathing my in my career now will you attend the world jamboree on it. It's not looking so. That was some that I was going to be invented tank conscious historian. But that doesn't seem to be happening these as I heard any about it much, but I should be there.
