"From cylinder. Sounds like at some point. Scott taylor was a big deal in the gay porn world. It's unfortunate that The movie he starred in had such a generic name solo. Jerry i love that juicy djorkaeff sound restock looped up all right. Well you get the idea. Thank you so much tyler source wrecks or tracking down the episode of dick legends featuring scott taylor. Oh by the way speaking of gays. I guess i have to apologize on behalf of my gay brothers and sisters and my god. We need to come up with a term for a sibling who is non binary gender binary. You know what i mean. Yeah if they don't go by he or her. What would you call your sibling. They would probably be offended if you call them brother or sister. May i suggest other ling. Right like sibling. But they're something other than brother or sister or maybe a them star. This is my dempster krondl. Crime krondl is a good gender neutral name. I feel like it. You know if you're going to go by pronouns like they are them you should not have a gender name like kristol or mark or the most masculine name of all. Tim you should go. You should pick name. That doesn't have a lot of gender baggage that comes along with it. Like krahn sounds like an alien from star. Trek i am. I'm looking for captain kirk. I empire the transgender federation. I don't know how i got off track. That has nothing to do with what i'm about to talk about. But as a member of the league. Bits community i. I guess i have to apologize to all the normals out there. Sorry for bringing upon this plague known as kovin. I didn't know i had anything to do with it. You know in the eighties not to make everything about hiv aids but one could argue. It was primarily spread by gay people. We didn't know what was we. I mean you know. I was a fucking toddler at the time. Don't drag me into this. But i'm just saying gay people didn't know what was causing it how it was spread and even after we found out how it was spread. It's very hard to get gay. People to stop fucking. That's a big. Ask try to get people to stop having sex right or even worse have sex with a condom air like seventy percent of the fun of anyway. New information has revealed that yes. Gays are behind cove. Head what is the source of this information. Some random fucking religious kook. That's where i get all of my medical information. So i'm taking this gospel. The last letter in the lgbtq is q. for questioning which is the mission to confused kids enough. They questioned their sexuality so they can be groomed nba evangelized. That is so true. Bill this is a war on children and the bible is very clear as you know. I absolutely hate children. So even though i didn't know about this i'm so glad to go into battle against children. This is a war on children in. The bible is very clear if you're going to go after the children god's going to have the last word on that absolutely janet i really since the covert as part of the judgment. Okay talk to me about that please. While we had a national shutdown last summer we had every major sports league that favored the lgbt agenda. That even took on states for their bathroom bills. When you think about hollywood shutdown rethought fashion shutdown retail shut down all the things gays love from these areas that were so pro. Lgbt number one churches. were shut. Down for jill. Kobe shut them down. I dunno fill ever recover your amblin. Chick-fil-a was shut down for. Like what the fuck are you talking about. Everything was shut down not just lgbtq friendly establishments yeah remember. When god's specifically targeted gay bath houses he made all those places close pro lgbt. The kobe shut down. I don't know if will ever recover. You're absolutely right. Don't touch the children. This crosses the someone made an interesting comment. don't mess children Have you ever heard of the catholic church line. It is tragic to see what they're doing and our god is going to respond even greater this judgment. This is a pattern and everything about this. It's the patterns interesting that govett kills mostly old people. You know old religious folk stupid fucking idiots. Who won't get the vaccine or judgment and i'm sorry there's no other way to put. His theory needs a little bit of work. A little bit of tweaking. I thought the government is giving us kovin and it has something to do with five g. Now you're saying god is behind this in his wrath. I'm very confused. If we could just stick with one crackpot theory that i could get behind it. It'd be great. Although i think i do have another one here. "The red skins love developing news there as they staff up and they change their front office as well and at eight thirty five congressmen former congressman Scott Taylor will be with us we'll talk Baghdad and maybe also guns in Virginia a whole bunch of other topics of it's gone as alongside Beverly hall bird from the event when this form in this morning from our water Beverly good morning the morning now we are in twenty twenty if you can believe it are you of the opinion that we are in a new decade see I've had this debate I just am going to opt in and say it's a new decade even though I know they're technicalities that say something different I'm just going to go with the easy and I I'm going with just the majority I'm gonna get sucked into peer pressure sure yeah they do the thinking on this is that you know given that there was no year zero it started with one therefore the conclusion to every decade is the number right says that is the ten so we're in twenty twenty this would be the final year of the last act of this past decade but whatever it doesn't matter we're now in the roaring twenties whether we you know it will however we can't categorize a roaring economy that's right for in the roaring twenties again and go over this also helps resolve all of the naming problems that came with the first two decades the aughts in the teens no more no more trouble everyone knows you know this these monies in the twenties yeah well a guy you starting the twenties off on the wrong foot is the editor of vox former Washington post writers names as recline I remember he started this website called vox because they wanted to contextualize the news they want to explain the news that was their concept and one of the things that he put out this week is a tweet about a nine month old Washington post article now I'm not sure why he shared this and you should too is two point five million followers but it was a tweet it with that that alleged any peace that allege that there was a two hundred and twenty six percent increase in reported hate crimes after trump rallies in twenty sixteen in in those areas so the thinking goes after president trump held a rally in twenty sixteen during his campaigns our then hate crimes went up in those counties by two hundred and twenty six percent that's a huge number huge increase if if true any huge claim so he puts this out as a slow news day it was a scientist now I saw it and instantly had the reaction I remember the story and I remember that this was completely debunked many months ago in fact when the story came out it was almost immediately de bont two hundred twenty six percent increase really well to Harvard researchers who talked about this said that just by adding a simple statistical control for county population to the original and analysis estimated that the trump rally the affect of trump rallies on reported hate incidents to become statistically indistinguishable from zero so completely divine to Harvard researchers did he not to his homework or did he not care I mean he he frames himself as like the smart progressive like the guy whose want you to look at all the net right wing in the news here he was look at all the facts and then render a judgment based on the truth and he's definitely part of the crowd of people who think there's too much misinformation out there people being lied to this is just a lie this is a life that two hundred and two hundred twenty six percent increase in hate crimes after trump rallies in fact the reason article that you're referring to in those researchers at Harvard researchers sites that what they ended up doing was they said okay let's stretch this out let's use this is the way that the Washington post's structured this survey and stretch it out to Hillary Clinton rallies and see what we can figure out so the right that's using additional data that we collected we also analyze the effect of Hillary Clinton's campaign rallies using the identical statistical framework the ostensible finding Clinton rallies contribute to an even greater increase in hate incidents than trump rallies but even greater one now what what should your reaction to that pay it should be a look at the data and the like okay this is probably all nonsense to begin with and that's for the Harvard researchers found when they finally on wrapped the Washington post analysis they said this is a lie this this is not prove anything yet here we are and this guy as reclined sharing it to two and a half million people and you should see the reactions to it like everyone's nodding along like on my side one more reason we have to impeach drop of course this happens everything every everything he does dis destroyed a blah blah blah and of course one of the reasons why I think Donald Trump became president anyway was that people were tired of being told they were something they weren't they were upset with how they were being characterize this is again another reporter trying to characterize individuals in middle America as having certain behaviors yes yeah they want to make it seem that like the dumb rubes are going to start saying naughty things after trump speaks to them that's the position here whatever was referring to and this is for task and by the way there's no evidence for that none it's just your trump campaign rallies our despite what you may hear in the mainstream press are a very interesting place for a number of reasons one you get a lot of people are very enthusiastic about the president and there's no other politician that's like that my country right now non you can show a fill stadiums easily people are waiting for days yes days to get in you have thousands of people who often can't get in because of the over the over capacity and then the trump campaign the way they use these rallies especially now and in twenty twenty when you shop to these rallies they're gathering information they're getting they're getting people to sign up for volunteering their getting people to sign up for to be on email lists are getting donors they're being they're able to build a pretty robust campaign apparatus in terms of just getting a sense of where everyone is in these individual counties around the country and when trump shows up in these rallies it spurs all sorts of political activism on behalf of the Republican Party I mean these are highly effective events for the trump campaign something that I am fascinated about when it comes to president trump is that usually this time in a presidency this year but the year right before an election is the year that presidents don't enjoy where they have to go back out out on the campaign trail not in the White House as much and focus on actually speaking to people here I loves this like this is jam yes and what we often see in the coverage of this is that while he's doing this because he likes going to people who like him and that's it blah blah blah I'm telling you if that if you think that's the takeaway from these rallies you missed it entirely obviously there is some of that there's the energy that he gets from speaking to people that actually like him for a change but that is one of the smallest components of the trump rallies in terms of their effectiveness because not only do they like him they volunteer from they become activists for him they can Vince people in the small counties and cities and towns across America that ended up voting for him in twenty sixteen to do it again normally campaign politics you need to go to like major metropolitan areas in the suburbs and campaign because it's the best bang for your Buck you can spend money and Milwaukee and its surrounding areas you can hope you gonna win Wisconsin but now what's happened is with the trump campaign they have figured out how to activate the small counties all across Wisconsin how to get places that nobody campaigns in in typically in the past to actually go out and vote and have high turnout numbers and make it said that they were rendered the democratic cities and towns the democratic suburbs useless because Republican voters are showing up in all these very small locations at the end that's thanks in no small part to the effectiveness of the trump rallies and how they are in day in terms of data collection and also in terms of getting people motivated to support they've been very smart about swing states as well Hillary Clinton was not in twenty sixteen and I also think the harder that president trump is attacked by his his naysayers the more that his supporters want to support him it's amazing so much to look forward to in twenty twenty but in a moment we're gonna look back at what happened on new year's eve to one port nudist colony as they just were just trying to celebrate the new year type of that a second is five forty five on WMAL.

"To five three five nine seven three two. We are also waiting for the mayor and the governor. Also the police chief, apparently. To give us an update. We're waiting on that to happen. We don't know yet, apparently, when that's going to happen, but we are expecting it hopefully at any moment. And when that does happen, as I said earlier, we will carry it for you live here on the show. I'll get back to the facts here, just so, you know, again, the wounded include a police officer, who's ballistic vests actually stopped a bullet. Police chief said the shooting took place in building two of that municipal center, the FBI is also responding the incident to provide system to the local authorities and FBI spokesman has confirmed. It's amazing how social media now. Get stuff out direct from these groups I want you to listen to little bit more of the information that we're getting a now the happened a moment ago on CNN take a listen. Great people to work in a building the building, if not secure. It's, it's where, you know, the citizens do business for zoning, and planning and public utility. And that's why it's just not secure. It's the government complex. They're right down the street. I in fact is the sheriff's office. Virginia Beach, please. A lot of first responders or right there on the scene. But obviously with incident like this thing really fast and not just really devastated here in Virginia Beach for these families that were expecting a love tonight. It's just horrible. When when you say, obviously, a not a secure building. I'm I I don't wanna you know, if you're not sure, but I mean you're basically saying we're not gonna have things like metal detectors and things like that in this building. I mean it remains to be seen what, what may come out of this, but there were not tighter. This is where a lot of things go do business for real estate stuff. Pay the real estate taxes, noting and planning and. There has not been security prior and, and, you know, you guys have been talking about how the police came out in the press conference. Speaking about this was a disgruntled current employees and you don't I'm we'll hear more come nine thirty. But yeah, I mean, this is not that there's not a secure place because it's the place where we do business. Right. And it would seem from the description. We just heard from the police chief, that he entered the building, and then began indiscriminately shooting. We don't know whether he'd been in there earlier in the day, what is shift was, we just don't know any of that information. But when we hear a longtime public utilities employees to you that would mean he, he, he very likely worked in this building, or at the very least was extremely familiar with it. There's no question, not just with the building, but with the people who work there. Employees that work in that building in the city in general have been there for a really long time. So there's no question that this individual whoever is the compound, the building and end the employees. Unfortunately, the employees. And as I say, as we understand we, we don't know the identities of these individuals. Are we do know at least at this point, it appears they were all civilians, you know, Scott, when you hear this, you talk about just the devastation in shock in Virginia Beach? It's one of those things no one can no one can comprehend no one can get their arms around and yet it happens with frightening regularity in this in this country. What is your reaction now? That is actually happened in your hometown in Virginia Beach. There is now a mass shooting. Well, it's way, premature. Any any, any reason why or or would weapon to use or policies or if there is a policy that could have prevented this is just way too. Premature don't have any formation to say that I'm not prepared to, to comment on that, just too early. It's just that. People people who might wanna comment on it, but without any information, we don't know if there's any policies that could have been put in place that would have prevented against it. And I just don't know what I'm that's just premature. All right. Well, I appreciate your time, Scott. Thank you very much, as I said, Scott Taylor, was the former congressman from this area, of course, as he said, is called Virginia Beach, a home for more than twenty years, and obviously very familiar with this area. So as you heard his description from many times. It was a very humid here. Here, Mr. Taylor well done on his answer there, it's, you know, I- basis point was look, I know there's people like you guys are, you know, there's people out there that want to mmediately use this for whatever reason, right? To, to push their Gina and his point. Was it is way too early. We don't know anything. It is way too early. To decide what could have been. We don't know. We just we just don't know. And I love the fact that he said it that way because I think it's exactly what he should have said. We have no idea if there's any policies out there that could have stopped this. We have no clue. I mean, we, we have absolutely no clue..

"Thank you have a wall. Absolute knock it down. I'll take the wool for sitting. You think this is a referendum here in the city? That would I do got the greed new dealers the impeach Trumpers, the insanity of the left the open borders, and then the rest of us that work hard play by the rules pair taxes. Yes, we pay them. Whether you like it or not you get your kids. You raise your kids instill values in your kids. You wake them up. Get them dressed make their lunch. Send them off to school work. You fourteen hour day come home exhausted. Maybe on some public transportation. And then the next part of your day is oh maybe spending ten fifteen minutes with your kids. Putting in mislead getting a beer and watching five seconds of TV as long as it's Hannity is it's okay. And then going to bed and the sad part is if they go to school in New York, they get to go onto the Blasios watch have meatless Monday and wonder we're nine hundred million dollars went because his wife can't seem to find it early. Let's get to our phones. Let's say hi to Ryan and Virginia. What's up? Ryan. How are you? Hey, Mr. Hannity is a great place is anybody in Virginia dealing with your Lieutenant governor that's been accused of rape and violence sexual assault. I don't believe. So because he is a democrat and Democrats can do whatever they want and get away with it. Unbelievable. Not. Nobody's nobody's even talking about it anymore. No, no. Nor nor the governor nor any of it. It's just it's it's been twelve hundred ignore it. And oh, Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump. So there you go unbelievable. Anyway, that that's the country. Sean. I am a veteran. I am a conservative. I am a Republican. And I am a convicted felon. I was sentenced to forty months in federal prison. I've been released I'm back in my community. I am working very very hard to make up for what I did and to rebuild my life. What I did was horrible and I screwed up. But I vehemently disagree with Bernie Sanders wanting to allow people that are actively in prison to vote. Because you're being punished you while you're in prison you are being punished. So may ask how many how many years did you spend in prison? I was I actually spent twenty nine months behind bars and then four months in a halfway house. Okay. What was the crime? I don't know what that was what was the crime. That's that's that's my radio 'cause I'm at work. I I'd rather not say, Sean, okay? Probably drug related if I had to guess, are you different how long ago since you've been let out I got out in June of last year of prison. I was let out at the halfway house in October. I have twenty years of probation, and according to Virginia law. I cannot apply to get my rights to vote back until after I've served my my probation. My gun rights are all the same way. I don't care about my gun rights that that's a whole nother subject. But the fact is I'm I'm present in my community. I am a active in my community as I can be. So I should be able to vote for my council men. My mayor my governor who I disagree with my congressperson who I also disagree with because it's now, Elaine Luria and not Scott Taylor. My senators both of whom I disagree with as I said, I'm a Republican that said. Sean, the only reason that somebody should lose their right to vote permanently is if they have committed voter fraud or conspiracy to commit voter fraud other than that, we're I if you're if you've been released you're part of the community. Now, you need to have a chance to rebuild your life. Felons are business owners there. There's a lot of a lot of films that you've never even realize in your community, and they are just as effective by the rules regulations and laws that are proposed and passed by the.

"But but that's the thing. Like, that's the thing. Jeff like, even if you you money over like, let's say these boosters in the border regions value money, and what say the value success over a kid passing away. That's still the wrong move to keep the code keep the current coach. You you're not gonna be able to attract top level talent. When kids are like. Ooh, that's the school where the kid died under that coach. Yeah. I'm not going there. No, my kids not going there. I'm not sending my son to play for DJ Durkin. So I just I think the fact of the matter is like. This yard disaster. Man. Yeah. Everyone's in the wrong here there is no right angle. Really to look at this. And it's just it's really tragic on all sides. Yeah. That's all. I got to say about that. I just think it's unfortunate that we live in a society where if like I mentioned if this was a Nick Sabin kid if this was an urban Meyer kid on the road. Nothing happened nothing at all what happened. But at least they got it right in terms of getting rid of Durkin. I'm not saying that he's one hundred percent at fault for what happened. But he's the leader of that team. He's a leader to make someone responsible. Absolutely. So I think we need to take a quick break. We'll come back. We'll talk NBA. We'll talk about we. We're seeing fifty point nights almost every single day nowadays. We'll talk about the latest and unlikely hero for that fifty point night. We'll do that when we return. This tuesday. Let's vote to stop the division and chaos and Trump's Washington we can start by defeating Republican. Congressman Scott Taylor who votes with Trump ninety eight percent of the time. He's voted to repeal ObamaCare six times and gets an a from the NRA.

"The added schedules about or four months, and there's all this stuff that we have to do in terms of coloring mixing compose paying composer things like that. So we're asking the community for their support with Kickstarter, and then the plan from there, and this is a little bit of the trouble with documentaries, generally. But we're going to be presenting it for sale were submitted to Sundance film festival. We may do a layer of direct sales to the community. I in order to drum up enough interest in excitement from like net flicks. And people like that to purchase the film. The path for documentaries is kind of you kind of have to hit it from all angles and hope that something sticks. So the the current plan is definitely to try. To release it at least direct to the public by early twenty nineteen probably January unless we get into Sundance which would happen like at the end of January beginning February, and that would change a big part of the way. The the film gets seeing too exciting in. Yeah. The Kickstarter linked to that in the show notes in I'm chatting with Scott right now to figure out something cool that I can do to be one of the Kickstarter levels, or whatever, however works, you know, gets all that would be awesome. Cool bundle stuff say we're working on that now. And hopefully, I'm sure there's gonna be tons of really cool things too for any backers of the Kickstarter campaign, and yeah, I'm super excited about it. I have never taken part in anything like that before. But just the production and all the guys you had on on the crew. It was just it was such a pleasure. I've seen some stills from the from the shots in the just looks fantastic. So I've done years or did a great job. You're in the movie, man. That's crazy. No, it's a it was a it was it was a nuts experience. It was great in the definitely a I'm used to be in the the radio voice. That's that's easy. Not being on camera. But but now, I know you guys are gonna make an incredible film. And I can't wait to see the trailer in a few weeks seen with you. And Scott Taylor. So great. So funny. It's really it's really wonderful those I can't wait to sit. Now as it was so fun to do in. Just can't thank you enough for us to be part of it. And it's it's been a thing to see over the years. This thing go from your little idea that was an Email in way back in twenty sixteen. Now, it's gonna be film. So congratulations. Thank you grateful for your support and your participation in everybody else's that participated in the community. I mean, one of the things that I've always marveled at this community is their generosity of time of spirit. It's just a knowledge, you know, amid it's really incredible is is very rare. We appreciate you giving us a megaphone because we've it's it's one thing to put something on a website on the internet. But it's another thing to make a movie out of it. And I think the reach from your movie is gonna be incredible. So appreciate the the megaphone in the platform to do something. Hopefully, great if like you said if we get those ten percent that would maybe change the the look of the country forever, which should be insane. So very exciting. Can't two thousand eighteen is going to be a very cool year. And before I let you go. Lasko my guests. What's one piece of advice, you'd give to somebody on the path to financial dependence? So I can't wait to hear what you have to say. Wow. No pressure. Love it. Let me think about that. What's one thing that I would tell okay, I'm gonna tell you the trick the psychological trick. There was actually a mistake that I did that excel A-Rated my savings rate more than anything else in my path. And that was that whenever I got a raise I paid myself ten percent of the raise based on the rule that I think I read it like the richest man about alon- to pay yourself. First ten percent. I got it all backwards. I thought that it meant that I was supposed to take ten percent of my raising give it to myself and save the other ninety percent in the Bank. And this is how bad at math. I am in. Why I should really be talking about this stuff..

"Now that when you link it with some other members of congress out there that have been facing some ethics charges or questions, Scott Taylor down in Virginia, maybe the Duncan Hunter storyline out in California are, are you going to start seeing some narrative threads come together? And will this idea of abusing her thirty or taking actions as a sitting member of congress that is in somehow taking personal advantage of the office. You hold any of that kind of notion that you could see the Democrats forming a message around. Is that something that's going to take hold in a Trump era where you know we've talked about the emoluments clause and his hotels, and none of that seems to have a much traction with a core base of support for. His voters. Is there some way that you're going to peel away from support from someone like Chris Collins in this reliably Republican district because of these charges, or do we live in a new era of American politics where folks are so fed up? They actually expect some of this behavior from their members of congress, and it doesn't sway their vote as much. That's going to be a big question. Mark, I think around this fall to see if Democrats in some way, try to shift their messaging or bring this in in a way right now. So much of their messaging has been about the tax cuts being skewed to the wealthy and therefore potentially a rating the social security and Medicare funding that many Americans depend on that sort of been the thrust of their message as well as healthcare just by itself and Republican efforts to dismantle ObamaCare, will this new thread of sort of corruption abuse of power, drunk with power kind of thing, become something that has a punch to it throughout this fall as part of what may be a forming. Critic wave that doesn't for this edition of the daily DC..

"Bill bolling tweeted last night that he's quote extremely disappointed that stewart could win and he said every time i think things can't get any worse they do and there is no end in sight that's really the feeling amongst mainstream republicans virginia today so then what are mainstream republicans doing if the narrative today is that essentially if you're antitrump and we'll talk a little bit about other races that are that are showing that that you may not win so look this is the tension you're putting your finger right on the tension of what republicans elective fficials dealing with every day which is cross trump and things like what happened to mark sanford down south carolina who lost his primary bid becoming the second member to boot it from congress in two thousand eighteen because he was a vocal critic or you align yourself with him and and you get support from the base but again this is sort of a mixed bag of how trump sort of wind up in these sorts of things i mean obviously mark sanford with somebody who was a critic of the president critic of the way that he his support for confederate monuments but so we scott taylor in virginia he's another republican member in scott taylor granted didn't have nearly as well wellfunded of an opponent but he was able to slide to reelection so sometimes maybe if you don't draw the attention of trump with a tweet like mark sanford did then or more active campaign against you then you can sort of slide by but look it's still very precarious waters for republicans right now in primaries and we're going to get back to south carolina in a second but i just wanna go back to stewart because he's going to face off against enter tim kaine now as we know cain was hillary clinton's vice presidential pick do use to spec that that will have any impact on the results going forward tim caine was already a favorite to win the senate election to eighteen and now it seems almost impossible for him to lose at this point so tim kaine certainly got the candidate who is who makes it easier for him in november and it was already you know.

"Very low in so you really have to concentrate on getting your partisans out and he may have miscalculated the composition of the electorate had this been sort of the typical off your electorate were turnout wasn't all that good he's probably closer in this race although i don't think he wins gop congressman something genius scott taylor he said that these results in virginia or quote a referendum on president trump's administration and he said it was the davis of rhetoric of mr trump and that's why the republicans did so badly do think that's the case i don't pick you'd hear a lot of republicans argue with that point except perhaps president trump himself he came out after the election very quickly and essentially said that guerrillas fees problem was he didn't embraced trump enough i think the overwhelming majority would share the sentiments with the congress when you quoted you note in in your analysis in new york times said it where the victory came from where the votes came from a very wealthy counties w well educated parts of virginia who voted democrat and rule of virginia still seems to support republicanism and mr trump so what message should that centredemocrats of the most whose son is that they need to talk the future and not the past two part of the problem for the republicans is the rural areas people are are bemoaning the loss of jobs in industries that are gonna go away like coal and tobacco whereas the democrats are trying to talk about you know jobs in technology and stem education things there will have a future in this country when you see northern virginia and i spent a lot of time out there these are some of the wealthiest counties in the country there are also highly educated and they're also deeply rich in diversity so it's a different blend of kind of immigrant population than a classic uh wave of latino voters if you will that you see in some southwestern states and it's not easily replicated for the democrats so you can't over draw the lessons from this result too much it's not like this could happen in iowa or this could happen in michigan our this could happen in pennsylvania visit indicated this is still that that d d d again.

"So what will it take to break the logjam on the big issues that divide the country on guns will it take a new generation maybe combat veterans who know all about guns and the damage they cause to get past the politics so we got to members of congress both thirty eight years old who have very different views on the gun control debate to sit together at my kitchen table virginia republican scott taylor a former navy seal sniper who saw combat in iraq and recovered from severe injuries sustained there and massachusetts democrat self mo a former marine corps captain combat platoon leader who had four tours in iraq and i began by asking congress to make the case for why he thinks gun restrictions would decrease gun violence well it showed their shown to affect gun violence i mean we are plenty of studies that show that the states that have tighter gun laws have less gun violent and this is an american epidemic it's really a public health crisis i've seen the effects of gunboats first hand in iraq and i know that it has no place in our schools our streets at our concerts and there are things that we can do to reduce it that are with within the second amendment scott nye swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution united states both as members of congress and the same oath as a navy seal states marine so i don't wanna do anything that violates the constitution but there are common sense things that we can do if democrats and republicans come together.
