"And then you have that kind of triangle of conflict between Batman the mob and another villain. That was that's the best Batman story. We've got on screen, but my favorite comic that I've wanted to see adapted written by Scott Snyder is Batman zero year dark city, and it is the Ridler it's rookie Batman relearn takes over the city. And it's just him Batman battling for the whole comic. And it's brilliant. It's brilliantly written. What was the reason? Why Ben Affleck just decided to step down? I I really think it's health problems that that's a physically demanding role. Heave. And said it after the first movie that's not iron man, where you go into a studio you have green screen behind you. You're making funny faces into a camera all that CGI Batman. When you're in the fucking suit. Yeah, you're doing all the stunts and the suit is very uncomfortable. It's very taxing. And. I mean, would you have faith in one brothers right now when you just want to move on at this point? Right. So you want this to be a reboot? Yes. That's the only way to go to because the other news with the suicide squad. That is I. That's a soft reboot. That's accurate. A soft reboot of a terrible movie with different characters or what what are they doing? Is it going to be like a new motley Crue of villains coming in in the same universe? Or are. They gonna recast all these fucking characters. So that's roster. Sue that suicide squad roster is very fluid. So in the comics characters come and go all the time, you can get a whole new cast. What makes it even more confusing is the birds of prey because that movies moving forward. And if that movie does well, Margarite is a huge store. Everybody loved her Harley Quinn if that makes money then they're going to get a sequel. So then we're going to have the new rebooted suicide squad. Even though there's also a character in another movie that was in the original, they're breaking up, the D C, you the continuity doesn't matter to them anymore. And it doesn't matter to me anyway, because the story didn't even make sense narrative -ly, which is jumping all over the place. Join it side. Yeah. I mean, they wanna do that fine. But like let us know or say something to something don't just kind of one of those things. That's it's like unspoken. Yeah. No that it's it's a mess. So them coming out and saying that it's a mess. It kind of gives them the option to say. Oh, wait. No. That is connected. Did you like that? Okay. Then that's connected now such shitty way to run your fucking franchise. Well, like, I said all the time like always say, the MC, you is lightning in a bottle. That's that looks like once in a lifetime in hindsight. "Hey, listen. Not with me. Happy. New con- with big is Troy from talk nerdy to me with your daily Noubir giving you all the news that's fit to know. We're going to start with statues. Sideshow prime. One studios has new logo deluxe statue out sting is a monster is thirty nine inches tall. He has couple interchangeable handing down his laser rifle a shotgun orange us, behold a cigar. The other hand, of course has his icon of chain in hook. This statue also has dog between his legs down here at the bottom. And if you know logo, you know he loves his space dolphins and those are on the side there. Movable it is a huge statute limit. Seven hundred fifty pieces made the price is going to be up there. It's a one thousand eight hundred ninety nine. You can pre-order it right now is coming out the end of twenty nineteen beginning of twenty twenty and. They have a payment plan so you don't have to pay it all at once. You can make payments. Okay. If you're near a local comic shop that has is going to be participating local comic shop day, which is going to be November seventeenth. They have released to the special comics are coming out. Local comic shop day usually has exclusive comics for those participating stores. One of those is alien cz three, William Gibson's alien, three, unproductive screenplay. That in the I'm looking at it, the cover looks pretty good. It is going to be a part of one of the alien things that were not produced good story. The another book that was leased was image. Comics is going to be putting out a hardcover collection of the first six issues of Gideon falls by Jeff Lemaire. Getting falls pretty popular comic special. You can pick it up exclusive collection in hardcover. That's hard to pass up. So comic shop day go to your local comic store in CBO picking up November seventeenth, which is a Saturday, no skew should work. Video game players the WWE to k nineteen. His revealed some of their roster if you like the old eighties, nineties throwback, wrestlers you're going to be very happy, the WWF WCW era. They're bringing in. Tons of the old care designing rowdy. Roddy piper. Jake, the snake Roberts Ted DB Ozzy the million dollar man ultimate warrior ravishing Rick rude, Mr.. Perfect. DP Bret Hart leader and Ricky steamboat dragon, just the name of few. They are saying they still have a few more to announce for this than game will become an out Tober fifth. So if you're a wrestling video game fan, you don't wanna pick up w w e two k nineteen on October. Fifth. Stephen King fans, you're good. You're getting a lot of Stephen King lately. Well, they're doing some more. They're going to remake pet cemetery. If you're familiar repet- cemetery, that's the the show where the guys kid this year be spoilers books out forever and so's the first movie guys kid is he buries him in the. Indian burial ground which is supposed to bring them back to life and it does, but it brings them back different something wrong with them. So just looking at how they upgraded it from the first interruption of the movie that came out to the one just killed it. The box office is past year. I'm thinking pet cemetery will be the same thing. It's they're saying if he loved the book ago, the movie. So I'm thinking it's going to stay pretty true to the story. It was a very, very freaky. Scary book. I can't wait to see how they're going to make this modernize pet cemetery, but we'll have to wait till April fifth of twenty nineteen to see this movie. Okay. Gnocchi been reading affinity wars. You've seen that they have a kind of. A weird offshoot from that cone, Infinity warps were Gamarra's. She's gotten them vanity stones, and she's kind of folded the universe in on itself. And a lot of the characters have been combined merged as you had cabinet. American doctor strange were merged form soldier supreme thorn. Ironman merged, have iron hammer, and they revealed a new one. Just the other day wolverine was merged with Emma frost. His appearance didn't really change much still has the wolverine look except the. He's got the blonde hair a got the Pat. He's wearing a passionate like he did when he was when he was patched. I patch. The big differences you tell him his speech patterns is much got much more manners speaks more eloquently, but those still moving in, he gets his rage every once in a while. So if you like the idea of them merging two characters for a new one. There. He go Infinity warps with a p. they're doing and they've got other ones too, like they have ghost panther weapon Hex. Wolverine is not the only one to get merged bunch of our if that's your thing than you want to pick up infinitive warps. Okay, Batman. If you've been reading Justice league, you saw Batman is just been decimated. I mean, lex Luther. When he had the totality doorknob, he crushed Batman, broke all his arms legs. This left him in a bad way. And you saw the last Justice league issue. He had a a full body, armor suit that allowed him to keep moving around even though pretty much most the bones as body were were broken. He's gone one step further. Now he has his own little hover wheelchair. So he looks a lot like professor x with a big bat symbol on his chest. Sure. He's still pretty deadly. Even with that full body armor, he wolf to bunch of of legion of doom. He was pretty instrumental and then justly getting the totality away from lex Luther on. Now, he's taking easy. He's he's sitting instead of standing. But this, this hover chairs pretty armored up. I'm sure he's got it full of all kinds of weapons. So certainly Justice league. You're gonna see a bad just won't stop fighting and they're getting the totality transfer out how to get it to fix the source law. 'cause it's supposedly a battery used for creating universes. So they to figure out how to use it to fix our multi-diverse. Justice league Scott Snyder for you going with this. Don't worry that one to you. Okay. Harvey awards, their New York Comecon. They're going to have the presentation of twenty eighteen hall of fame in duck dis. It looks like there's only two of now, Dave Gibbons, if you tell me that's because he was the artist on the watchman. Alan Moore was the guy with the story. Dave Gibbons brought it to life on the page. He's at other stuff, but that's what is most known for. You know, he doesn't work on green lantern give me liberty and Kingsman, but he's getting a Harvey award at near Comecon during the thirtieth an award ceremony, October fifth. That's going to be end all bras chest. Yeah. Ross Chaz is going to get an award also. She'll be inducted. She did a lot of work for the New Yorker. She's also received the Reuben award, which is a pretty high award. So we've got those two pretty prominent people being inducted into the Harvey awards hall of fame, they both deserve it. Congratulations. The Oscars. There's

"War plan. So you lose through attrition, the experience retired Admiral. James Stavridis says, stopping the war games would be a grave error on that. They are useful, they're necessary. Even if the north considers them threatening and provocative, how many United States troops are right now in South Korea is twenty two twenty seven thousand troops on the peninsula. So the argument for doing away with these war games, what good is deploying that many American forces without this kind of updated training. Let's import for those forces. To be able to perform their mission in. This is essentially training and practice in order to be able to perform that much say you making argument for for keeping them a, how about on the other direction? There are some in the military who feel as though they do indeed, cost too much money and then the more the United States is there the more dependent that south is on the US? Is there an argument for doing away with them altogether? There could be an argument for elections in proportion to a reduction in the threat from North Korea. The commitment that the US has made is to defend South Korea from external attack. That commitment exists because South Korea is on a geopolitical juice strategic faultline. And frankly, a withdrawal of US troops from Korea and possibly from Japan would remove this central moment that has guaranteed stability in the region for decades. Thank you. We're going to have to end it there. Scott Snyder director of the program on US Korea policy at the council on foreign relations. Thank you very much..

"I guess I'm a little bits of fire watch on switch inside on switch will. Yeah. He's like the maybe not tomb raider maybe not rise, but I think the two minute reboot it's right. Any run on switch and like things like the two days x. games. Get fancy fifteen pocket addition on. Sure. Yeah. All right. Moving on this is Joseph Marcus. Sounds like Marcus. I had the distinct pleasure of attending a panel hosted by Damon senio come this past weekend. That's about notable in. That's being notable industry writers and the keys to great storytelling. Yeah, we had to price Scott Snyder in Jordan. Vogt Roberts on a panel to talk about the challenges of creating new IP in an industry. That's all too happy to just turn out sequels. Thoroughly enjoy the panel even said so right to Damon's face that true that he do that absolute. I says, I asked the question of the panel about determining reasons as to why people consume previously existing pee more so than trying something new. I wanted you to perspective on this as it relates to video games and its fandom theory where I think that wanting to be considered true fans of the franchise and getting past certain fandom gates is really important players so much. So they're rather play ten games, one franchise rather than try ten games that are each based on new. Do you guys agree with that? Is it really about fandom, or is there something more subconscious at play here with humans? Not wanting to try new things would love to hear thoughts. I think it's cash, man. That's my theory is that is that money games are again, games are expensive and want to be investing in something that has a little bit of a track record that you kind of know what you're gonna get more to safer purchase. Exactly. Because it's a known quantity that you've even enjoyed in the past. So it would make sense. He would enjoy the. I think there's also a psychological element where it's just people tend to gravitate towards things. They recognize cash time. Yeah. No, I think that's my my main Fatah. Absolutely think it's just it's just human nature. Familiar is comfortable. Yeah, you know, you're less people don't. You know? I don't. I don't want to try new foods. I want to just go. I'm going to get the same thing at off the menu that I know I love. Why should I? Why should I risk having a meal that I don't enjoy when I know there's an enjoyable thing right there that I can order through all sorts of factors in the Stalinists and other big factors you grow up and get older. If there's a story component to this series, obviously you're more likely to want to continue following the story along. Yeah. I mean, I was playing through final fantasy fifteen and like part of what I enjoyed about that game was some of the music callback strike brought back. Classic final fantasy themes in ways that like that music, not objectively better than the music and a game, like octa path. But because it means something to me. From when I was twelve, that increases my enjoyment of that game. And that's just like an incumbent advantage that like long running franchises have same Zelda, like get Elda theme like really key moments in breath of the wild. Octopus has really give me. I'm just that's what I mean. Like if you say someone that had no experience with either of those gains put those side by side once not better than the other, but but one has a history to it worth pointing out though that this is actually kind of a little bit, and this isn't a hard robot a little bit. The opposite effect for indie games in he games actually have a lot more trouble with anything with a two in it sequels to very, very popular. Indie games will often they're called just like such and such to will often much much worse. And it's the reason you see a lot of indie games not call them set their sequels to like like a super meat. Boy, she forever is a direct sequel the super meat boy, and it's not. I don't think it is in this run. I've talked about this with the developers. They're very clear that this is a direct sequel the super meat boy, and they just didn't wanna call foot was different gameplay to it's, it's very, it's much more similar than you'd think. But they're, they're trying to levels preceding generated..
