How the Golden Globes Canceled Themselves
"Canceled the Golden Globes. What's that about? Well, they canceled it for next year. At least they're not gonna Eric They can't cancel the Golden Globes. The Golden Globes could do whatever the hell Yeah, he said that they're not going to air the Golden Globes next year. And this is all because of the controversy that started a couple months ago from basically in L. A Times article that really exposed the Golden Globes for many things, shady financial dealings being one of them, but also the fact that of this 87 member body that votes for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Votes for the golden Gloves of the 87. There are zero black members, which in this day and age is just, you know, kind of unfathomable. Also, given the fact that the the academy the Oscars went through this several years ago. And the Golden Globes. The H F P A watch the Oscars go through this change their membership of the past few years. They've added 4000 members since 2015 and the the Golden Globes just sat there the whole time and did absolutely nothing about it, like hiding in the corner, hoping nobody would tip pull up the blanket and exposed them. Well, they got exposed so They said that they're going to do stuff about this. You know the problems in their organization. They're going to turn things around. They voted last week to make these changes, but it's gonna take them a while to make them. And so, NBC basically said, and a lot of the entertainment industry distance themselves from the Golden Globes, but the Big One was when NBC said this week. Look, we have no confidence that next year's Golden Globes are gonna be any different than last year's Golden Globes because the voting body is going to be pretty much the same. So we don't want to be associated with that. So we're not going to air it. Maybe if you get your act together by 2023. We'll talk. But next year now we're out. So

They would say This is what's gonna happen to you because they say, Do you want to know what's going to happen this season? Then I'm the kind of actor I like to know. Because I like to play that plotted out, you know, um, with next While we were shooting that we didn't know I knew a couple things I knew what wasn't going to happen. I knew that. You know, One of the things about next is that it's not a Cain and Abel brother Fighting story. But it is about two brothers. "The ear on that's the weak in Hollywood history on my heart radio. Welcome back on this Friday. 700 w well w I am Ken Brew it one more time today for Scott Sloan. Glad you are with us in about an hour. Now the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Is paying people to come live there. You'll work from home. Why be in l A. Why be in New York? Go to Tulsa, though. Why isn't Cincinnati doing this? By the way? Why is it who's ever in charge of The Cincinnati Commerce. You know that whatever the downtown group is that supposedly needs to attract. Why aren't they out there doing this? Seems to me it's it's a no brainer Greatest city in the world to live. Hit hit it Hard in L, A and New York come to Cincinnati work from home. The city of Tulsa has figured it out. We're going to find out why coming up to 10 36. You know, he's really someone who just enjoys what he does. And Loudon, Wainwright. The third really doesn't care what people think of his work. He really doesn't He hit it big on a novelty record. Oh, gosh, It's going back. Almost 47 48 years you probably remember dead skunk in the middle of the remember that song. Well, believe it or not, this guy has recorded over 24 albums. And he's got a new one out. It's a It's an album by the name of I rather lead a band, and it's the song from the American Songbook. And there's some really, really old songs and some really, really old standards. But with his twist is well, they call it a an anti nostalgic look at some of this music. I'm not sure what anti nostalgic means What he's got 14 songs. On this new album. But he'll always be remembered for the dead animal song. Which hey, look, we should all be remembered for something. Anyway, I got I got the offer to have on the show today said, sure. Bring him on. I want to talk to him about it. We'll talk about his album. But I want to talk about dead skunk. So here he is a guy that not on ly Is a singer and songwriter. He actually is an actor and had a very memorable role in the hit TV. Serious MASH. Let's Welcome into 700 wlw Louden Wainwright the third. Good Morning loud. How are you? I'm feeling pretty good. Stay and healthy. Stand. Well, I hope Yeah, yeah, from being careful, just like everybody else. Well, that's good. That's good. Anti nostalgic. Now you you've always had a wicked sense of humor both in your music and and you're acting And I'm just wondering what an anti nostalgic look is so that those who are about to listen to this know what they're getting into well that we chose their 14 songs. On the record there were from the Golden Age of American music. 19 twenties to thirties, although one of them was actually written 1907..

"Back with Scott Sloan 700 w well, W and hold over my guess Duane Brian because we run a little late there, and I want to get his his take on. Dwayne is a community police relations expert in Chicago. He deals with this in the Chicago Land area. I try to get some local here. But he's such a great voice on this, too, because he's plugged into the community. And you know me try to understand. And maybe you also try and understand Theat outraged. I get the outrage, but the sense that justice wasn't served when in fact, $12 million was award In a civil suit. But that's that's also whether we like it or not, how things are made whole where Emmet Legal remedies is done, often by money in this country. The fact that people want officers Mattingly and Cosgrove charged with murder doesn't really apply here because of the nature of policing and they weren't the ones who got the warrant. There's a lot of mistakes made negligence first and foremost, but I don't think that John Mattingly and Miles Cosgrove are murderers, but a lot of people in community want that to happen now before the break. You're laying this out. And this was the tea's here, right? You say Here's a smoking gun for his Lonnie is that self defense doesn't apply to third parties in Kentucky. Take me through that. Okay, So I was looking at some of the law and as well as listening to one of the attorneys on CBS this morning with Gail Cain and he stated in Kentucky quote. I wrote it down self defense in Kentucky does not apply to a third party. So let's say this You and I were walking down the street. And you know, I'm a calm guy, but you're a hothead. So you start telling people Hey, I'm Sloan. Jack. You don't know what I am. I will mess you up and you pull out a gun, and we haven't even met in person, Duane, and you know me already. I feel like we're get the bag and you take out a gun, and I'm like, Whoa. You shoot at somebody, and then they shoot back at you. First of all, they are right to shoot back at you. They have a legal right to defend themselves. Because you're the one that initiated Now, Let's say if it's four of us there, and they shoot everyone else, except for you, you're the only one who did not get shot. They can't use self defense in that because self defense is not Applied to a third party only for you, right? So that means that if I got shot in the other friends of yours that was there got shot. They cannot use self defense, which means then, then they broke the law because they kill And so in the case of Cosgrove and Mattingly and Briana and Kenneth, that that's her chain. The scenario is that they're shooting. She got shot. Hey, could have got shot. That would been okay. But she got shot accidentally, even though she was standing right next and proximity counsel, so, But here's what I think that's wrong. Can I tell you where I think that's wrong? Okay, So here's the different Now. You just laid out a scenario where it's me and you and Kenneth Walker and Briana Taylor. And guess what. The four of us are all private citizens. Briana Tanner was a private citizen Kenneth Walker, private set of citizen The problem that you run into, however, was the fact that the Jonathan Mattingly and Miles Cosgrove are not only police officer sworn law enforcement officers of the Commonwealth of Kentucky but also they were acting under court order..

"513749 7000. Clifton. Mike your necks with Scott Sloan. Hi. I've got the problems. We're looking at another empty billboard here. You're going into sacred ground, possible burial ground. You're stirring up people that died and didn't want to die in. I'm telling the bad recipe and it's just like what happened, Baby Bill for you're going to go the whole poltergeist thing. Oh, yeah. This is a business of view. You know what the fight you know what Buyer beware, though, because you know it's not. It's common knowledge that okay, we're going toe. This is where people died. If you're one that believes in that there's that spiritually connection there, And I guess the thing would behave. You know, You know what it is. You're going to buy it anyway. That's on you. That's what the left state we were told that the lutz family last after 29 Day story. Maybe it's not for me and you, Mike, but somebody may move in there and go. Hey, I don't believe in that stuff. Well, you know, man, you're you're you're going to find out. You know, there's something to be said about disrupting the souls of the spirits of the dead. All right. Would you want to put your kids to bed in a room that was right near the cabin, and I don't know I not me personally be like, I don't. I'm not bi. I don't believe in that kind of stuff. I mean, I believe there's an afterlife and there's a spiritual connection. I'm not sure like people are going to haunt me, though. I don't know. Would you move into a house for 64 shot killed? I don't know. It depends on the price and location. Well, I think your wife would talk to you guys. We have to agree. It might be really uncomfortable to be in their night in one of the rooms where you knew someone was shot. I'll tell you what, though. I know I work with. Yeah, I work with a guy that he doesn't believe this stuff either, But I lived in New Orleans. And there's a lot of that hunt, and he he just I'll save it for some other time. But like literally like closer moving around in his closet and pop cans were flying around the room, like really pulled her guys kind of stuff. So believer now, right? He's a believer. Now. He's a believer now, exactly saying, Mike, Thanks for calling. Got to get going here. Speaking of real estate My wife. So I kind of moved her from 10 30 because we want to be talking about the time Brennaman stuff. I want to devote at least a whole hour for me, and you talked that one out and what happened last night sadly on the Reds broadcast, and it said, for everyone involved, it's offensive and wrong and But the same time you feel for Tom. But anyway, I want to clarify those remarks and not his but mine and I'll give you my take on We'll get yours about 10 06 today but coming up next on the show, and I have you heard about this, but Airbnb, which a lot of people are getting out of doing. The rumor Now is they're going to file an initial public offering. Go public, a publicly traded company, and you think the opposite would be true. "Don't want to be in America. Scott Sloan Friday morning. This is 700. Nobody beautiful day. We'll take it right to summer. Even though it doesn't feel like something because they're still locked them one week from today we have reds baseball and let me begin with this real quick Here. I was tweeting and yesterday had Governor Mike DeWine on this show. And put this up on Twitter, too. I was saying, and you know, I often read or try to be too much of the Twitter comes just come at you all the time, and I was kind of perusing them yesterday for a little bit and notice it and a lot of people lot of folks, and if it's you, it's cool. I mean, I don't come at me, man. It's It's all good. It disagree that somehow you know it was a softball, and you're Kissing Mike DeWine's, but Um and I ask the questions I thought were more interesting. I think the point is it There's not a conspiracy here somehow, at least in my opinion. That the governor anyone else is trying to destroy the economy of Ohio. I mean, on the contrary. I think the opposite is probably true. It is most definitely true. Let's put it that way. So here's the way I look at. Let me just we're debating whether or not the mass were effective. I think we had a needy. Doc called in yesterday, said Yeah, I mean, we've been working on for 100 years. There's a reason why and then someone else sent me something from one of the physicians, academies or whatever saying, Okay, if you're wearing it correctly, which most people aren't for surgical purposes is mainly for the droplets from the doctor. Not the other way around. Okay, I get all that is a 100% perfect. The answer, of course, is no. That's why it's an N 95 or worse. It's 5% chance that 5% of stuff's going to get through. Um, that's as good as we have. And so the debate is. Well, why even wear a mask? Why? Here's why I look in very simple terms, because I'm kind of a simple guy. And if you disagree with me on the mass protocol, my thing is this. If we don't wear masks, the chances of us facing out of the lock down a statement in lock down is what probably pretty good. I I don't know what the masks are. The solution. I don't know if wearing a mask is going to stop us from being shut down, or ah, huge spike in cases that I have no idea. And that's the problem. There's so much information, and there's some conflicting information out there, too. And certainly the government is responsible for a lot of this. The federal government for that matter, because Nick was Hey, don't we don't need a mass. Save it for the experts. Okay, now where, miss Well, don't worry. Well, the mascot what we don't and once you start doing that And there's nothing definitive from the get go. Yeah. What's gonna happen is confusion and chaos is gonna reign supreme, right? Um, I think is this with Reds baseball starting in a week, which I don't know about you. I'm really looking forward to live really live sports. I know the PG and the memorial's going on, But it's golf. Right? Go. You can watch golf anytime. NASCAR. Yeah, I'm not an ass car, guys. Fine. Baseball definitely wanted me to see some baseball. Some live American, not South Korean baseball. If wearing a mask. A stupid mask means that I could watch baseball. We can watch baseball awake if wearing a stupid piece of fabric over my face and look like an idiot. And it may not even be doing anything. If I can do that, in order for I don't know the Holy Grail the open up Make a little bit of money in order for a restaurant to stay open late for someone else to continue to pay their bills paid their taxes contribute to the economy. Our mask. I don't think it's that big an ass. Quite honestly. Yeah, it may be uncomfortable. It may not work. It may be stupid. I mentioned the other day at somebody. I forget who it was emailed me. This and I thought was a great analogy is better than than I came up with. And that is remember after 9 11 If you're old enough to remember 9 11 And certainly we all now know what it's like going on airport. We have t Essa. We have all these things that we go through. Jump their hoops and oh, my God, They're pat me down. I got two ounces of their 101 100 out of 100 getting your water bottle. If somebody sneaking a bomber gonna board just to test the system of a set nets were like we were living pick up on that. So I think we all have a sense about SSA Post 9 11 That gives an indication like its security theater. We've talked about that for years, right? It's the illusion of security. It's really not that secure when you have some woman who could just fake a credential and walked ahead, Get on an aircraft and they go away to many. You don't have a seat. How the hell did that person get thrown? Meanwhile, if I have a toenail clipper in my carry on, I'm surrounded a gunpoint by Tess agents. What? What the hell? It's security theater. Hey, It's the illusion of doing something even though we really aren't really good at this time. We're not going Isn't that the same thing is.

"Fifty two can broker Scott Sloan on this Monday getting ready to make way for **** **** among other things today we'll be talking about that police shooting down in Atlanta that we had been talking about quite a bit in the early part of this show is guess we rob Sanders who is the Kent County prosecutor and how would rob Sanders hire handle it should say the the potential indictment of the police officer that's been accused of Aug shooting three times into a man who was fleeing away with his taser we'll get the the inside scoop from rob and Willie coming up in just a couple of minutes this is you know this whole thing now that that's that's developing with covert nineteen and is it coming back in these states are spiking cases of coalbed nineteen and if you listen to the news and always coming back or their spiking or it's not going down more people are getting tested that's the reason why the numbers are going up I we're testing a lot more people the real number you got a look at our hospitalizations how many people are actually going to the hospital with covert nineteen and the national numbers on that and in some very specific cases in states like New York where it was you know wildly out of control and hospitals were being over run initially with this the numbers are going down on that so yeah the number of cobit related cases are going to go up simply because more people are getting tested in Ohio according to the governor you can get tested any place any time right now so be very careful when it's presented to understand severity as opposed to okay I've been tested with covert nineteen here's what I gotta do a B. C. and D. if I do these things I'm going to be fine which is which I think is lost in the wash of of what we're hearing right now but I thought this was interesting Ohio state football players and their parents were asked to sign an acknowledgement of risk waiver regarding the corona virus pandemic before those football players got back to campus for voluntary workouts last week it's called the Buckeye pledge ESPN got a copy of it it asked the players to quote unquote help stop the spread of cobra nineteen and accepted quote I may be exposed to cope with nineteen another affections and it says if they don't comply with distancing quarantining things like that they could lose their right their right to participate in sports but not their scholarship so I just thought that was interesting that's how Ohio state is handling this my guess is is that there are other schools around the country that are doing the exact same thing we'll see as it progresses while the ridge roundup with the cowboy and the year is coming up next back in here on Friday at five AM for Mike McConnell on the whole world hopefully soon your Cincinnati Reds seven hundred WLW.

"This is seven hundred WLW at Scott Sloan on Twitter just had Greg landsman on and that talking about the the fund the police movement and which last night low a lot last afternoon yesterday afternoon he kind of stepped on it here and said Hey we're going to take two hundred thousand from the city police budget to fund the citizen complaint authority now we're right on the it at first blush okay good now we got a guy councilman in Cincinnati who wants to defund the police and that's all anybody's hearing now there's a new ones this year of course is always no one answers but that that's why I have a problem with is you know you can't take the words of protesters in and take the hash tag the fund the police and say yeah let's take money from the budget right because you're gonna get painted with that brush and nothing's going to happen we're gonna beat each other's throats let me give you my take on and and it this is just my observation over the years I'm where we are and where we need to go if you're really gonna fix this whole issue because let's face it if you're tired of hearing about you don't get the protesters or maybe you're you're you're down there marching every day regardless well not the same thing America works better when it works for everybody and not only that well when no one's at each other's throats okay we've been locked out with Kobe to me that we come out and we have the George Floyd case and now it's almost like when locked out again that has nothing to do anything to do with covert nineteen we all want to be prosperous in our own way in in the freedom to do what we want that's what makes this country what it is but over the last fifty years our cell roughly all say let's look at the job of policing okay the work and that police do now versus what they did back in the day where it was you know rouse in the neighborhood drunk core you know you'd have a a robbery of some sort of crime vice is things like this stuff the cops traditionally police and we think because we watching crime shows like that's where it's really not that way anymore our problem is this is cops have is we've taken money away from other agencies but like the homeless for example get Sam Landis on at some point to talk about this right whose deal with it but with the homelessness issue well it's the cops okay you got mental health you're in crisis if you're living on the streets who deals with mental health issues why the police do what about drug addiction the spike in opioid abuse right cops got to deal with that child abuse there's another one you know he isn't really within the guise of policing maybe the child abuses because there's a crime there maybe in some cases drug dealing but not the diction thing but we should have other agencies that are funded enough to be able to deal with special specific of the home a specific of the mentally ill specifically with drug addiction child was all these other things and all the cops do what they do best and that is lawn order that is making sure that they're that thin veneer of civility is protected by the men and women in blue but the problem is I think the cops have taken the Jedi they're they're like the bottom of the funnel right you for all this stuff down okay well we're not gonna find this recovery but to develop all the police will take care of it well if you ever consider that maybe the police are quick to do this nor should they be I think they do a wonderful job generally speaking most all of them do with with exception of course like anything but maybe they're not the best mental health counselors or maybe they're not the best advocates for the homeless maybe we need other departments out there to handle this kind of stuff and give cops more time to police and concentrate on crime and crime prevention the important stuff it's kind of like teachers right used to be you know you go to school you learn at the book's now teachers are like second parents and we just keep dumping more stuff so now you've got kids with disabilities and they get an eighty P. and so another teacher has to handle that and then you've got some disruptive kids well you've got kids in it in an all day long you're just managing these kids are not really teaching as much as you are being a parent firefighters I think is a great example back to police right firefighters okay you're out there put out fires yes sometimes are generally what are all the calls for if your firefighter it's for it's for overdoses it's for people who can't afford medical care right so they become primary health physicians and going all right Mike my kids got a fever they call nine one one and they come out to give the kid acetaminophen accidents and stuff like that right so it's not put out the fires anymore as much as is all that other stuff I hear we got scanners I hear it all the time so you know instead of talking to de funding the police which is just abjectly stupid maybe you ought to be looking at saying okay how can we allocate resources so the cops so the fire first hello even their teachers Americans pointed out so they're not doing all these things maybe we need to grow those other areas now the CCA they can citizens complained of thorny yeah I really got us out of the weeds after two thousand one and they they certainly deserve their funding there's no doubt about that but you know the oversight thing to me is a small portion of this the bigger issue is all the things I'm talking about because if you cut police budgets you take two hundred thousand dollars or five hundred or million or hundred fifty million depending on the city you're talking about here and you slash their budgets with no reform what's going to happen all the good cops are gonna flee to the suburbs or just get out of the profession entirely the cops are laughter can be overworked tired burned out you probably have more complaints you're gonna have underpaid cops then you're gonna have cops who are there because well it's underpaid you know you minimum wage remember right and so you'll have police departments are even more reckless and you're gonna have your we're gonna be back to areas of the city where there's no go were pizza delivery drivers won't go there you know we just had that rape kit issue in Ohio what if you think there's gonna backlog hi is this this mindset of okay we're gonna be fun it's just a stupid thing I'm in what you need to do is you need to say what you mean because what happens is and this is the stupidest thing the protesters could have done is given more ammunition to people to dig their heels in and punish politicians who allegedly represent or their interest to give up any ground whatsoever and if your opposition you're going to look at the liberals look at the liberals want to do right I want to get rid of police it'll be anarchy that's why you got to support this candidate in east here she stands by the police will be a rally slogan and nothing will get done because of this hash tag the fund the police is the most irresponsible thing I've ever heard and why you would listen to a protester in and then have progressive candidates or progressive lawmakers parrot that is it's just stupid as what it is all right that's my rant that's my take that's my hot take on this whole thing you heard.

"Right Scott Sloan seven hundred WLW the others even matter what day it is all these days for the same I mention if you're working from home but the family like the day they'll run into each other because usually you have some sort of separation right now if you're working and learning at home and doing all these things now the sudden it's it's a different world in which we live will continue into a follow what's happening here with the corona virus locally as well as some around the world as well well too so we got lots lined up on the show that today here on seven hundred WLW including we'll get into maybe some of the origins of this thing to a lot of mental health but I saw this this morning in in hearing the president's speech yesterday on seven hundred WLW I came across some something that I think it's kind of a little I don't know under reported so to speak and I bring this up this morning because I like you am trying to figure out what the truth is and I think that that may be we're not quite a hundred percent sure at this point what the time line is going to be here with us all the uncertainty Bill Gates has weighed in on the corona virus pandemic he believes that the U. S. missed its chance to stem the spread by making companies shut down forcing America simply shut down and the U. S. now according to Bill Gates has passed our ability to control Copa ninety without shut down we didn't act fast enough we didn't avoid it and their foreign were big trouble everyone should have been a notice as early as January which would have been about a month after the virus first started appear in China so arm chair quarterback much certainly one arm chair quarterbacking going there it's easy to say now that what we what we should've done in January but you know what the same time I think he's wrong I think so here's how we missed it one is that we see Asian countries battle contagion is all the time certainly not to this level but you know every time you see a picture coming out of out of Asia out of Hong Kong and Singapore it seems like half the population at any given time is wearing a mask which may also explain the worldwide shortage now we're all wearing a mask and so they're used to these kind of things and and therefore they're also used to a quick response would also explain why Hong Kong and South Korea had were so well prepared to test their population and and put people in quarantine because eight they see this way more often than we do hello we have not seen anything that this level in one hundred years we have the seasonal flu virus which I hate when people start compare well you know the regular flow the seasonal this is not the seasonal flu it's called Novell it's called novel coronavirus because novel means it's new but this is not the flu a lot of the symptoms may be through like in a B. B. confusion between the regular flu in corona virus but this ain't the flow to say that it's something entirely different thus novel that's why the cult novel right but anyway we haven't seen anything like this in a hundred years since the worldwide pandemic in nineteen eighteen of course were not prepared for anything like that that's like saying Hey you know we're prepared for a hundred year flood and we got a five hundred year flood why are you prepared for that well because it happens once every five hundred years that's why I think that's that's reasonable and as I said you're only forty five percent of its get get get the flu by the F. live vaccine anyway when I took the regular flow seriously as well so the problem also here to that maybe Bill Gates doesn't recognize this is kind of what has me a little concerned about this because I heard the present yesterday talk about well hopefully by Easter I think some people are putting words and nothing is going to be the countries are too responsible dog his job is to be an optimist because of the president freaks out we're all going to freak out so him being cool is nothing and it really I mean he doesn't his own unique and different way and I say that tongue in cheek being unique and different but that's nothing any president would have done to say yeah you know we will get through this it's it's going to be okay we want to be reassured however those I talked to the medical community that started to come to some sort of consensus here not entirely but it's starting to solidify around the idea that in two weeks we will not be going back to work as we thank in two weeks the fifteen day lockdown is looking to be from medical experts I've talked to who don't want to go on record but because no one wants to have a target on let's face it but it's starting to coalesce around the idea that early may it is about when we think we're going to peak I don't know if that's just a high or United States but focus on early may so what is that about five six weeks that's a long time and I think the other element of this two is that what the problem with us not knowing because we've never seen this before we want to finish we want answers now dammit I want to know exactly when I can leave my house I got exactly what I can go back to work and get away from my my spouse and my kids which is the biggest problem in that is relying on China in Iran for accurate data now this is what's going to this bits over me up today when I saw this one wow this is pretty scary so we start with China and as you know China is just it's abysmal right if you're looking for accurate data out of China and you look at the numbers ago yeah what three thousand something dead and now the US has more deaths in China and we're just starting to sink Hey no way in hell China has any lesson ten ten times that right you look at the Chinese embassy good there's no way you may be counting the people in Beijing and Wuhan and in in bigger cities in China but in what is large China is largely rural you mean you're counting all those bodies and rollers hell no you're not so we know those numbers are drug did or ran Aranda saying well we don't know Iran has some serious numbers put up and and again that regime is not about to disclose it which again which is why we push for for openness and regime change and we sure when this is all over with China especially but and now for this Italy with okay now here is a developed nation here's a here's a nation that's we're gonna get fairly accurate numbers out of Italy right as part of the E. U. we think now that about six thousand people roughly have died in Italy and that's it just barely a month which is crazy right and now I got Angela Perrelli that's about as telling Angela Morelli is the area's Angela he's the head of the civil protection agency Italy so I guess that is our I don't know if that's our female maze maybe clear CDC I'm not quite sure the civil protection agency whatever this guy's ahead of it and he said this yesterday that didn't really make that many headlines is it we believe now that possibly probably our infection rate in Italy and therefore the fatale here in Italy is ten times higher than the sixty four thousand people we believe in fact Italy is saying that it's entirely possible that not sixty four thousand people have the corona virus but six hundred forty thousand people have the corona virus so that's about one in ten who are infected with the virus di so that would more in line with their mature that with their death rate of around nine percent but I think the way we got way more because and here's what I'm looking at right as we talk about getting back to work in two weeks in America see if this sounds familiar the reason the biggest difficulty facing Italy according to Angelo Borrelli in Italy is a shortage of masks and ventilators does that sound familiar they have a mask in ventilator shortage where we heard that before I know in the United States right now the latest numbers are nationwide we have about what about sixty five percent capacity in icy use and that is a playful approach on a ventilator in Cincinnati proper our capacity right now is it six worth sixty percent so we got about forty percent more growth in beds and respirators and and I see you I was talking to a doctor this morning who said yeah this is something we've never seen before and the numbers most certainly this week and next we're going to get much much worse before they get better which they think now maybe early may and so if you are the reality and I was yesterday because I'm going on the information that I'm getting from beyond that media sources like you do I just kind of parlayed that and presented the other radio station that's basically all we do here in that is now the projection that in two weeks we're going to be Hey you know what blah blah over go back to work everything's going to be nice now we're thinking it might be early may and I had his information changing from just yesterday in the president's briefing to what we've learned in the last row less than twenty four hours twelve hours right I'm so that that's pause for concern right there now the economy in the like we worry about that and okay what are the effects of being shut down through early may what what is that going to do to the American economy it's gonna crash economy but the question of course then is do we send people back to work in two weeks knowing full well we're not anywhere near the peak I don't see that happening I think if the numbers continue to go up you're going to see tighter lock downs and I also think to there's no way we're going to be able to go back to business as usual it is optimistic the president wants to be let's face it he is also held hostage by the fact that the president wants to open things by eastern there's nothing wrong with being optimistic however and I think you're hurting inning however as long as it's in play like it's some conspiracy theory people again guy let's see now what we got to reassess the numbers again reassess the numbers and now are you more scared the question would be are you more scared of the virus or more scared of the economy at this point and I quite honestly I I I still I do I'm doubling down but Hey listen if the health experts are telling me probably early may then we got to go with early may we got to be prepared in longer at first for six weeks of an activity we got to pretend that the groundhog I didn't see a shadow right work or is it see your shadow I was forget with that stupid groundhog is it see your shadow six more weeks not years or whatever some pain and we had a forecast from gonna forget some of Iraq's I never understood that anyway whatever the groundhog says six more weeks of you stayed at home and you know we wished people start to worry obviously to about production about services about what it is we produce and put food on our table how many ballot checks can we get before we turn the apple cart upside down I'm willing to listen to not Bill Gates because I think Bill Gates is arm chair quarterbacking some we should have done this in January but the reality is we don't know in January we just thought it was your regular Asian emanating virus like we see every cold and flu season like okay must be the fall because people in Asian countries are wearing masks people here who who travel from Asia are still wearing that everyone's on the mask it's gonna be cold flu season we don't take this up here because we've never seen we haven't seen this in a hundred years so it's kind of stupid to say I told you so I predict I said in January are great my mom was that way god bless her she is always the the armchair port I told yeah you sure wore a coat he went outside to got you got a cold because you knew you weren't a coat yeah mom that was last November I don't care you sick today in June because you don't wear a coat in November so she got god bless her soul she was like Bill Gates and it was kind of funny but the reality is are we ready for six more so not only that this this whole thing I think really because it's new because it's a novel it's also the fact that we that the countries where this came from we can't even trust their numbers have if you can't trust the numbers coming out of Italy on this because they they don't know you're certainly gonna trust members of Iran in China the other two countries of the set and so when you look at it that way this is kind of new to all of us to and to say that by you know by looking at the well the numbers indicate iced I get more emails from people saying I study the numbers and I thought there's a mathematician so I don't know if I trust all that honestly I gotta go with what what the doctors are saying and I'm talking to a doctor says we think it's going to be could not pick until early may that's that's the best information we have we don't want to hear that actually I want to go go I want things to go back to normal.

there's not gonna be you'll be fine Mario was gonna expect that again you got to figure out you lifestyles fine you're not there causing trouble you're not shooting up you're not in on heroin or anything like that in a year you know everything's fine my assumes fairly uncomfortable today I don't know what the problem is I don't know you maybe need to seek him some counseling or some of the help sell a little Gator of mourning for the one okay two six yes I will take a long time you will divorce yes I've been married to my beautiful wife for forty six years translations that's excellent no I meant it was ninety three sixteen under the first day we could get there we have five green Kitty thought so but anyway I get to I have two brothers and four sisters about oldest of seven siblings and some guy what is that this guy was talking about getting abortion question the answer is no I couldn't afford to get divorced no well then I mean that is awesome so you struggle through a lot of people do it for the kids and he does it what what he thought he just be completely destitute in in a world of hurt well yeah but anyway we have a with a functional family right my son was a wrestler they've got a beating he said he told he told me and mommy should you he said the guy to beat me came from a dysfunctional family he said I was at work from a dysfunctional that will make you and I don't know maybe it will another thing Autobots Chiles we got it yes right you know what a three way is a poor way yeah of course in what some of our way yeah but you look six way now you don't want to six way the way it to utilities very cut out all the stuff and why would they put the internet running at beans onions yeah and then that makes life a hot dog up into little pieces and put it in there I've never had it that way and I know there's a seven way Sir I have no I see that I apparently I've not been investigating things as well as I should what I seem so that I can I can always know what I'm going to get like it's a three way a couple chili cheese with onions and mustard and maybe rebalance Europe's sound of information when I was eighteen that further north anyway a seven way guess what they put on top of that I have no clue Friday well that might be good for tomorrow to sort of get over the hang over thing which is of course what they voted Cincinnati chili as stuff already that's a good thing Hey Jenny I hope you have a fantastic new year was a talk you tell your wife and everybody I said I will go to talk to you thank you know life at this point so we'll see inland less some hands in the new year and then you know this is the way that goes five one three seven four nine seven thousand eight hundred the big one pound seven hundred eighteen to your chance to get interactive so I'm wondering who you think might be ready to go to kick it in twenty twenty for the tri factor celebrity death that's a tough thing I have a list of three and it's it's kind of difficult to make me a little nervous it makes me a little uncomfortable on I'm gonna share it now and you can certainly get online in shortage you're listed we're talking celebrities and maybe that terms used a little loosely and and I actually have four and the again I don't wish this upon anyone but we're gonna go at some point I think okay world long life lived right she is beloved and she's like ninety five I think ninety seven years old I think Betty white probably it could be now I'm not work yeah and I I know I'm sorry I I get on the again it's not the expert we can't live forever okay SO again I'm not wishing it it's just it's just a thing on but wait a minute Mario I wish you the Michael get the money so they don't kill I'm not killing anyone you're on science I I but it's just the idea that it's possible that it's likely it's that you're selling insurance you gotta figure that if you're trying to figure out what you're going to charge somebody whether it's for health care or whether it's for life insurance do you have to kill bed I'm not killing anyone stop that see you're killing the bit this is Dan you're making me feel guilty and uncomfortable again we're not wishing death upon anyone it is the ideas statistically that these individuals may in fact in the next year find their way to the other side to the great beyond by way of lifestyle by way of accident and as we get older accidents become more likely the aged miss the infirmity or maybe the wild card which is anything could possibly happen so don't hate on me for that I don't think it's your regular too bad to think ability white I I think Kirk Douglas because he's but he's he's oldest is dirt almost he says somebody who I wouldn't be surprised actually my ticket and then there's a Jimmy Carter who's had it he's like the energizer bunny of it when it comes to like agencies building homes for people he's help is a peanut farmer is a former president he's had like brain tumors and all kinds of other is sickness that he just continues to find his way to making stuff work the and then the other who arguably his survived everything to including falling on his head out of like a palm tree or got hit with the I don't know he's at all kinds of addictions and still one of the best guitar players and one of the funniest guys to watch and try to understand at some point in time it is the communicates in one fashion or another is playing the guitar for those rolling stones which is of course Keith Richards he's a guy who I wouldn't be surprised at any point in time ended up on the you know the headline and news about the the recently lost I I I'm so easy Mario you again and see maybe even reluctant to even continue this okay we just replace Betty because I don't want to kill bad word again your fix it only out we're not killing anyone the celebrity try factor death expectation is the idea that somebody's going to go it's not that we want them to go to Westchester quickly Richard will get you in before your tent there to report what's going on Burke I think that's what part of the impeachment and they don't want drop the big the new judge probably almost dead now well she certainly had a lot of elements and continue to keep going we don't wish it upon anybody but it wouldn't be too surprising if we heard it got to be careful you start talking politicos you know the you get the secret service in here poking and prodding and and you know I don't need it do not do what the secret there well that's fine I got nothing to hide but again I'm not looking to hurt anybody I'm not even trying to hurt myself that's exactly right just predictions that said Richard I appreciate the call man thank you see gets deeper gets we're I'm not wanting to see if all the people that he wants the well I know because every everybody loves Betty white I remember watching Betty white when I was just a little guy hit and she lost her husband Allen Ludden who used to host the liars club which I used to love watching after schools a latchkey kid I'd watch bowling for dollars Benny hill reruns I'd watch Sesame Street and the Electric Company with Morgan Freeman and then they get the liars club that was always fantastic it was that's how I lived to tell I grew up all right more the traffic to celebrity death predictions for twenty twenty aside from that and the the top of the hour we will also get an update on infectious disease issues some but it may be a good idea here in the tri state or elsewhere which is no vaccination no opportunity to go to public school because it's a growing problem Seattle's embraced it maybe it's time for Cincinnati Ricky chinos got your tent third report more sterling into floating on this by new year's day a new year's eve day seven "Of thirty eight forty three new year's day a lot of sunshine to bring in twenty twenty right now it's thirty nine your severe weather station seven hundred WLW which sterling for Scott Sloan is enjoying a little bit of time was good talking Julie balcony the bounty group talking about careers and change and figuring out where you are in assessing your situation of this and somebody tweet at me at sterling radio said I have to work today that's my reassessment I don't want to work over the holidays I I this is it wasn't capital letters I sounded like when I was just reading that it was paraphrasing of that is that it was in fact the UN in capital letters but that's the vibe that I got from reading the tweet you can also get interactive any cute hearing center dot com phone line seven four eyes seven thousand eight hundred a big one pound seven hundred eighteen anti and just about forty minutes after eleven o'clock report which is to news cast away I realize were three and a half minutes away from your ten thirty report but I'm excited to talk to my friend Tim McGee former bangles does the post game show Wycheck Ludwig which you heard yesterday it was a celebrate to worry what in sort of a bitter sweet one they end up with a two win season after they get by the Browns kitchens their coach got kicked to the curb after their season which was better than the bangles season they expected more that's it under the place in life arguably it may be as a professional sports fan in Cincinnati we've sort of live this my buddy Scott Stanley use of the dart genius of some of the stuff in between the talk here for years we talk about the better living through lowered expectations if you expect less and you get more let me life is good is a sweet or living high on the hog if you will that but on the other side of the expect more than you're let down and and that's the thing it's a bad scenario and I don't know what kind of trouble get into her for mentioning this but I'll go back to the mid September and in October before there is it was clear that the bangles were really not good this year it but it was because of injuries are just not goodness in general of the lack of talent whatever as it when you're at a sports bar in your reading mass quantities of food the cardiologists recommend you don't eat and your haven't beverages but you're hanging out with friends and you may be frustrated aggravated looking at the big screen again going on when they move the bangles in the tri state or the Miami valley from the big screen to peripheral the screen on the side during the game it's a bad sign things are not good when that happens it we had to complain and they moved it back but it it's it's bewildering that's where we're at and of course the question is will Joe burrows be a Cincinnati Bengal and I will talk to him again because there are three stages from what he has told me about the life in the NFL there's a first contract second contractor contract in the things that you go for ones just getting the job too is trying to get that money and three is about winning in any dogma course did some winning here though it was one and done it looks to be that he could very well have played his final game is a Cincinnati Bengal though he has a year left on his contract a good guy for every and everything that you would want as a person as a citizen to be doing in the community and charitable work just a class act he handle being benched in the middle of the season for three games even though it was an ugly record at the time to see exactly what we had it in the depth chart when it comes to other quarterbacks and we we certainly found out that what any better that's for sure and what a wild ride it was in a compact it almost was like a monumental and here's the thing if they had won that game a week ago my it what about Miami the dolphins all the sudden I mean seriously the patriots looking rough anyway I I hate the patriots I'm sorry I did I did I did you know it it doesn't have anything to do with the softballs or anything else about that there there's a lot of other issues that go and then I got friends who have moved up there to the Boston area and that's all I hear patriots patriots patriots no we go per kid we go to all these former Bengals and I'm like yeah you do and you also have tons of snow and cold and ice and here we are you know a live in the lap of luxury in warm weather sort of at least for a little while longer as the front moves through ten thirty reports straight away it's sterling for Saloni we'll talk more on the craziness in malls and shopping it's not just a Cincinnati thing it's everywhere Tim McGee is gonna join us we'll talk about the bangles and what's next for them as well as Andy Dalton and a lot of other things to get to as well so hang out I'm glad you're along for Scott Sloan I'm sterling destination station that you're listening to seven hundred W. "Morning and for Scott Sloan at sterling trying to make sense of things a guy who has his hand on the pulse of sports and everything else not just in the tristate bowler place he's busy and back at it with the round table show with I'm not mistaken tonight the roof rocky point of talk about the lovely the talented lance McAllister how are you Sir hello good morning merry Christmas happy new year back at you yeah I I I have to ask you this is this antes Dalton's last game as a a football Bengal with those stripes on may be back for another team at PBS but the Browns in town the talk is with the year left that perhaps this will be the only opportunity that they have to maybe get something in return rather than letting them go after next year yeah it's a great question and I said that the dream scenario call me after last week's securing the number one pick was now that that away you get to go and pulverized the Cleveland Browns and their misery when the final game of yours you can feel good about yourself collectively there there's no split in the fan base about the U. Sunday everybody wants to beat the Browns and the top would be and be having a great day and running off the field to a standing ovation in anticipation of it being his final game but I don't know I I keep doing like a flow chart in my head and this happened they could do this and then this might happen it has to be made if you grab your world you could use a handy as the veteran presence and either the backup or the guy who starts the perch few games still don't get his feet wet you could use the anti as draft capital in the off season and traded for maybe ideally a a second round pick if you do that did you need to find a veteran quarterback to pair with a geo you know I eighty already knows sacks offense having played in four years so I I I I don't know why I go back and forth on it I I don't think AV would be particularly happy being be either the backup of the quarterback in wait for another season I I don't I don't know they're just they're just a lot of scenarios I could see pulling out from that since it's so it's a weird time sterling infer Saloni with lance McAllister talk any anti Dalton bangles the Browns in town a chance to get to win season under their belt they said they are guaranteed are they not with that first pick in the question of course is do they take Mr Heisman Trophy Ohio guy order they make those moves what is that the quickest way to impact positively the product on the field and hopefully become a contender again sooner than later in what I this is the weird thing where it takes longer generally to rebuild say a the Major League Baseball the franchise a NFL team has the ability within a year to two we've seen it we're all the sudden they go from losers in deplorable like a miserable on the field product to all the sudden being a playoff team it could happen here though we haven't seen the quick turn around so far yeah it in in in the years sterling what you just said if you're going to go anywhere you need to have a quarterback it destroys me crazy that people say well drafted defensive end and find your quarterback next year refined and later a group of nine years in any told what an average to below slightly below average quarterback he wasn't good enough welcome to tide you get that you've earned the number had no pun intended the number one pick in the draft clearly the number one rated quarterback is the a and M. quarterback is the biggest position of need the most valuable position in support about people tell me well they should treat down football double picks so you want to take a look at quarterback after nine years you get the quarterback wasn't good enough now you get the number one pick in the draft and the quarterback is there and people want to trade down to take a left to right to the television early is rated as the number eight quarterback on no paper report I'm about to lose one more.

"Scott Sloan show talking about yesterday's final bombshell depending how you look at this with with Gordon someone and certainly there is something there but the question is that something it it's somewhere between extortion and a non criminal abuse of power in my mind and that's a pretty broad spectrum and it also really gets down to probably get in trouble for this what do you people want what you mean you people selling time share what do you people want according to a five thirty eight to come that's Nate silver he's pretty good with read the tea leaves in numbers are a set up about forty percent of people support impeachment forty four and a half don't and what's interesting about it and and put that in context most people majority people are following this a little between a little and not at all so the number and it's interesting as impeachment any inquires gone on that number has remained fairly steady in what why that's important is process is that Democrats obvious one bill consensus here to move towards impeachment ultimately Rimmel office that means you got to sway roughly well the eight percent of undecided and a lot of the pro trump but what's interesting about all these hearings the needle again it hasn't moved all that much despite all of the stuff and as of today as well it's still sprint down partisan lines and if you look at those who support the inquiry our support this thing a mostly people like yeah we got to do it in court as you move toward an inquiry and removal from office sent numbers about forty percent less so even people who support the investigation I I do I you know I got nothing to hide here and not easily bold the GOP I make no bones about I lean to the right but if my presence doing something that's a crime we deserve to know what that is and the question is does what happened regarding a not that military aid because that it happened but the meeting and getting something for that meeting at the White House is that elevated to the level of such a hate crime it you've got to removing peaches can remove him from office I don't think that standard was met yesterday we've got more on the way in a just a few I got the Glen Americans the five one three seven four nine seven thousand of the big one pound seven eighty to your calls in just minutes your slutty seven hundred W. of the traffic and weather news radio seven hundred W. "Scott Sloan show seven hundred seventy well, I'm gonna take I'm going to bet. No on this. I'm I'm going to go a hundred bucks as no on this one today at twelve oh, six Bill Cunningham, go Doris day died at ninety seven. I used to date her. I'm gonna go no bed. He's not going to say have one thirties to date her. Although he's probably more apt of data Doris day than I dunno Nelly Furtado or someone like that. Right. I used to date her about you're right. Yeah. Yeah. So where are you on sick days? We all have them if you work fulltime typically, get X amount of sick. I have no idea. How many hours of accumulate all? I know is this when I'm sick. I'm sick. I take the time off there used to be a time when you know, you're younger and stupider and thinking the boss really cares about how hard you work in showing up, and you know, even when the face of adversity and pain and anguish and you show up sick. And you work are you still going to get laid off and fired. When the economy goes south, I learned that one myself. So if you're sick take the time off and I'm not above occasionally. And I think that might my attitude has changed over the years that, you know, the occasional mental Health Day go, and I you know, I've been burning the candle at both ends for months. You know, I something came. I just I'm taking a mental Health Day casually. I think that's okay. I think your your boss is probably looked then go. Yeah. You know, what we know? You're productive. It's okay. We're where does this life? Governor. Matt Bevin is demanding the names of teachers involved in. This year's sickout says, you know, teachers on strike across the country as well as in the Commonwealth, especially but we've seen teacher walkouts strikes because they want better wages, they they feel they're not fairly being compensated. You can make a case when you have something like I just saw this one hundred ten teachers even in Cincinnati has difficulty paying their rent. That's in Cincinnati. One nine teachers has difficulty paying their rent. That's that's incredible right now is it because you're making bad choices financially. No, no, not at all. But I'll get to the show how you fix us in just a second. But anyway, in Kentucky governor Bevin said, look, we saw those teachers walk off the job the other day, and they struck I want the names of those people, and we're going to use the labor board to come after them. We want to find them a thousand dollars per day. Because basically you're calling in sick. And you're going there to protest and strike for higher wages, and the argument is the people of the Commonwealth the voters of the Commonwealth the working men and women of the Commonwealth pay your salary, and if you're calling in sick to go and protest that you're not getting paid enough that's in violation of law public education is not free. And if you're lying about six when you're sick. And you're really not and you're using it for wellness case going in and sending a political message. Then I want some names in a court upheld that actually. And it certainly former democratic governor Steve Bashir thinks it's stupid and saying teachers should be respected not punish. But the question is whether or not the labor cabinet can proceed with investigation of the scouts start finding teachers for walking off the.

"About marijuana. And what it would do and classified as a schedule one drug, and you had a lot of people rebel going. Why did they lie about marijuana must be lying about cocaine heroin and methamphetamines, also other stuff? You know, if what is wrong with instead of scaring, the crap and lying the kids and trying to police them in just simply going look. Here's what it does. Here's what it doesn't do here. The facts we prefer you not to do it. And you can't do it on school property, but they're acting like it's it's a kids are going to become addicted and die from this. And it's simply lying to kids. That's what I have a problem with. It's one thing to say we don't want it on school property. Once you are. We don't want us vaping on school property Cornell. Nestle whether kit has vaping pen on them, none of the schools damn business. If you're vaping in the boys, the girls restroom if revamping on school property, and you don't want that. That's your right as the school, but you know, patting kids down looking for vaping paraphernalia. What are we doing over here? Have we have we beaten the war on drugs down so much in high schools? Now, we've gotta we've gotta find another. When this case a boogeyman to go after interesting, I'm not condoning kids vapor in the like that. But again, shouldn't you have some evidence as to why it's so bad for you before you go after it if it's simply about deliver vehicle for stimulant in this case nicotine, then then you have to have the same policy about caffeine.
