"It is indeed week number one. Mike Golic. You played in this league for a long time. And I know that you know, every game is its own challenge. Every game is its own. You know Hurdle that you gotta climb. What's different about week one. What's different about the opener? What gets the juices flowing so much in week one. Everybody's on one else. Everybody's Oh, no, and it's been documented for so many years that sometimes at least five teams Who didn't make the playoffs year before make the playoffs. So even if all the prognosticators and analysts say you're not going to be very good, you can be because as the season starts going, players know more than anybody kind of where they stack up from a player's perspective that week, one that first full speed contact that first full speed hit. Is that a shock to the system? Well, I think it is today. That is, that's a great point. Because back when I played, you know we went full, gold padded practices back to back. All the time. So By the time we got to the season we were used to hitting now The guys wanted it less now, and that's their right. They wanted to preserve their bodies a little more, and I understand that, But when you go into the first game, you have not taken all the truly full goal hard hits. I think that get your body ready the way it needs to be, And that's why you'll see some sloppy play early and on. Fortunately, some soft tissue tears. That will cause you to miss weeks and then maybe more. If you re injure him. You got 30 seconds. I've done this to every co host. I've hosted this show with week one. Tell me who's going to be in the Super Bowl. Oh, wow. You know, it's It's hard for me to not say that Tampa Bay won't be back there. First Team Super Bowl champs resigning everybody, But let's do this. I rarely go with my heart over my head, but I'm gonna throw my heart in there just a little bit. I know everybody's saying Tampa Bay and Kansas City. Let's go with my Cleveland Browns. Let's go and Cleveland making the Super Bowl against Tampa Bay. Again. That's my heart. Maybe not my head. Key Super Bowl Matchups: The Case for the Kansas City Chiefs & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Winning Sunday

"The Kansas City Chiefs versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The long road that led us here with many unique twists and turns is a story unto itself. Now, in about 3.5 hours, the game which promises history, the chief's looking to become the ninth team with back to back titles. The Bucks hoping to put 1/7 Super Bowl ring on Tom Brady's hand. I'm Scott Graham. Happy to be back with your four Super Bowl Sunday, and my co host is a man who won two Super Bowls back to back, including an M V P honor for Super Bowl 32. He's an NFL network in Westwood, one analyst, the Hall of Famer, and he's been with us each week on this program all season long. Well, Davis. Welcome aboard. Scott. Man, It is eyes exciting and getting ready for this big game. A man I'll tell you what. When you look at how this one is going to play out, everybody is focusing on the quarterback's rightfully so. But when you start looking at a couple of the individual matchups in this game, there is a lot that ends up coming into play. And one of the things that everybody's been focusing on all week is the fact that the chief's dinged up on the offensive line going with backups there against a really strong past Russian. It Defense for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That seems at least right now to be one that's playing at its peak. Is that the key matchup in your mind? Well, that is one of them. I mean, we look at the Bucks defense and we've seen what they looked like the last couple of weeks and listen. Todd Bowles, Their defensive coordinator, has really got them dialed in. They've gotten after, and Rogers drew Brees and, you know, I think this defense is going to be, you know, formidable when it comes to getting after Patrick Mahomes, but You know, he's such a great quarterback. He's such a guy that can get out of situations that you don't think he could get out off s. Oh, that's gonna be a challenge for this team as well. When you look at it, and from your perspective, especially, I mean a running back a hall of Fame running back and very rarely these days is anybody say, Well, the running game is going to be a really big part of this. It seems like that's becoming an antiquated idea. Can the running game for the chief's help in some way, take away some of the aggressiveness of the Tampa Bay defense? Yeah, I believe so, Scott, because you know all the focus of this game really is gonna be on the chief's weapons, right? You know, you got obviously Tyree Kill Travis Kelsey. Then you have the other guys out there to me, Cole Harmon. And then you have Clyde. That was the lair who last year was an El s. You had a phenomenal national championship game, and I think a game like this is going to bode well for him, because if you're tired of those, you can't double team everybody. Somebody's got to have one on ones. And if you're the bucks, you've got to put more people in coverage. So that's gonna leave a light box for Clyde Edwards. He layer not only running but the short passing game, and I think that Eric the enemy, and Anne Rie will find a way to make this young man have an impact in a game like this. On the other side. Everybody, of course, is focusing on Tom Brady. I mean, he got them here, and he is once again right in the middle of the possibility of winning a super books. 10th visited pressure absurd, absurd. When you look at this team, they've got a whole bunch of weapons as well. Is there one that you focus on the offensive side of the ball for Tampa Bay? That you think might have a bigger impact in this game than another? I do. I think it's actually Leonard for net and not necessarily in the running game. But little has been Really good and their passing game, And I think that kind of matchup between Leonard for Net and the linebacker Damian Will Wilson and Anthony Hitchens from the chief's, because when you start doing that thing where they played in week, 12 Barnett had a decent game, but Ronald Jones caught the ball in the flat and was able to have a long touchdown score from that ball that was thrown into the flat. So no one is talking about that. But I think that again, Hitchens and Wilson is gonna have to have a really good game and not again. It's not with him running with the football. He's been a threat as a receiver, which is something that his game is never had. So I think, you know, Of course. Tom Brady likes to get his backs involved in games like this member James White. He had a phenomenal Super Bowl. So I think later for now is gonna be a guy that's gonna have to have a huge impact. Last thing for this segment does the first meeting have any impact on what we're about to see in a few hours here or is that just research? Yeah, I think you could take some things. Most coaches look at the game and they kind of take The things that sort of worked, you know, everything goes. She kind of just you pick things of a game and say Okay, well, we have success against his team before. You know, we'll try to do it again this time, but maybe we're gonna disguise it a little differently, but run the same kind of plays. So, yeah, I think you there's things that each team can take from that meeting. But, you know, I think it's about who can make those adjustments and going into this game. I think ultimately it's going to be the team that comes out

"Hall of Famer Joe Montana, who played in seven. Welcome back to NFL insider I'm Scott Graham, the opposing quarterback for Brady this week. Aaron Rodgers is playing in his fifth and after winning his first on the way to a Super Bowl 45 total. He's been on the wrong side of three of these games in a row, including last year. But this season could arguably be the best of his career with almost 4300 yards, 48 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Aaron and I talked for a long stretch earlier this week. And I asked him what makes this year's offense one of the most efficient in the game. Scott. I think it's it's all about situational football. It's that's given us an opportunity. Oh, run more plays. Comparatively, the last year we're live better. On third down and in the red zone, and it's given us the opportunity to run more plays. Take care of the football longer. We've led the league in time of possession this season. My belief and that's due to just having more opportunities. So really good. On third down, we're second league and third down percentage barely on, then first in the Red Zone scoring 80% touchdowns is That's been the key to our success. I think you've mentioned determine that you guys were playing this year. Complementary football. How do you define that? I think it's just all the phases clicking at the same time we last year were so bit on defense specially to start the season and just really trying to find our way on offense, and this year we've been so efficient in offense and defense. I think he's been Finding its way. Where they're playing really good football now, So when you're playing good in those two phases, and special teams just kind of holds their own, that's when that's winning football right there last year. We just weren't consistent in all three phases. That's why, although we had a really good team. Couldn't get to the final destination. It seems from hearing you talk, especially over the course of the last calendar years, so that you're very impressed with your head coach's ability to leave no stone unturned in terms of preparation, right down to the last moment in terms of being able to give you every potential advantage. You tell me a little bit about how that relationship has grown and flourished over the course of the last year. Well, he's a grinder. He reminds me a lot of Jeff Tedford, who was my ghost for two years ago, Jeff was a perfectionist. Phenomenal coach and the way that he approached, the game was that we were gonna be uber prepared. We were gonna be as prepared as possible that nothing out there that we would actually see you. We wouldn't have an answer for and I think it's the same way we met. Matt is a grinder. And he pours over the minute details and those of the things that I love because that's that allows you to free up on Drea Act, but it's things you thought about you visualized you've had conversations about and that's when you're at your best when you can. Just react in those moments, and a lot of reactions come from previous conversations. You kind of store way in the back your mind for a certain situations, and Matt doesn't really good job of Just granted on those details, and there's there's never anything that hey, probably hasn't seen on film and it and it helps because I think there's a good balance between all that stuff the film watching yourself Scout and then just Leaving that room for your own natural instincts and hey, does a really good job of getting us all prepared for the week and then just let this go on play? You line up across from that defense You don't line up across from Tom Brady. But the world, of course, is going to end up making this about you and Tom Brady. Is there any aspect to that? The idea in mind that I've got somebody over and the other side who's capable of doing what he's doing? I have to keep up with the Joneses. It's the NFL Scott. There's always a good quarterback on the other side. Some situations a great quarterback. He's not gonna be out there. Plant safety against us. But obviously he's got a lot of success in his career playing a lot of these games. Big games. You know a lot of respect for everything that he's accomplished in his career, But as much of this great for the media, there's a lot of great storylines. There's always storylines this time of year. There's some extra special ones. I think this year with obviously the age of the NFC quarterbacks compared to Dave See quarterbacks. Time coming over from the answer in the NFC engine, his team to the championship game. It's obviously great for our sport and You know it Z fun to be able to be in these games. You have been to this position and first time around. I think you said that. You know, you guys were young enough so that you'd even realize what you were capable of doing. And you got over the hump got to the Super Bowl. The next few times did not. Is there a discernible difference between One team or another in the ability to do that, or is it just a matter of how that team is structured in a given year? Yeah, I don't know if it's ability. I think it's more just the chemistry in the makeup of each team and so different. You're a year and that's the beauty of the game is you never know what's gonna happen. As far as guys growing personalities coming out chemistry of the squad coming together during the season, there's there's somebody fun factors and get to play themselves out and 17 weeks of the regular season, then into the playoffs. It's always Kind of a mystery on how teams they're gonna feel in those weeks. Confidence wise preparation wise. Readiness nerves as you go into these late season games where it's win or go home, and I think it's a beauty and each of the teams I've been I've got this point. They've all been different involvement very special seasons. Just the one that got over the hump way as we did all season here. We just found a way and I think that's the key. To these games were fortunate. This one's at home and we get some fans and get the weather in our favor, But it comes down execution and we're gonna have to do that on Sunday. Last thing.

"To NFL insider I'm Scott Graham. In the 19 seventies, the Dallas Cowboys became America's team, whether you love them or hated them. And while Dallas is offense got the headlines, it was the Cowboys defense under Tom Landry that set the tone safety Cliff Harris was the six time pro bowler and his 10 seasons wearing the star. It is one of only 13 players to appear in five Super Bowls. Two of them wins. In February. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and that night he told Laura Okmin that he was the right guy at the right time in Dallas. I think that one of the things that I did with it. I was very fortunate was that Tom Landry had a very complex defensive system defensive game. I mean defense plan that he designed himself. We had computerized printouts. I was just talking these other guys that they didn't have those back when I was and I get that kind of stuff. And the thing that coach Landry got out of May was, he knew that I got his system. And he knew that I knew that I could work within the system. I started a zit. I mean, my first started my first game. The first playoff. I mean, first preseason game I started And I started the first season game was only rookie to start an undrafted undrafted free. There were there were only 100 and 20 rookies. I had to beat out my camp in 1000 Oaks, California, but you know, it's I mean, just do what you can do on, uh, in the thing. This was really I mean, I'm trying to figure this out to you know is this thing happens in progress develops is that you know, how did Landry must have known that I got his system and that he knew that I got his system and then I knew how to work his system. And I did and how he knew that as a rookie and just tells you how great of a coach he wa so you know. Do you find a guy like you trust a guy like water from washing All Baptist. You know, toe come up and play free safety and we went toe Kash five Super bowls in 10 years, So I mean, uh, you know, it was just, you know, and made that system work with, you know, great players. I mean, gosh, we had so many great players and That I think that coastline you had a personal connection with that he knew how that That he knew how to motivate those guys how to make them work that they would fit in his system, and it works for us. You know, this is going to be tough because with all those Super Bowls with the championships with the conference wins everything you've done if you had to put one signature moment. Next to your bust. It could be a play. It could be a game. It could be just a signature moment that goes along with the bust. What would you choose? Well, I think you know, it would probably be. You know, there's a car so there was there were a couple. There was one moment that that I think really made a No, I know had an enormous impact on the is that you know when we can so they cut my rookie year They came back and Uh, cut 100 rookies and there were you know something? We're all we're always worried about making the team if we're gonna make the team and he was gonna do this and Tom Landry before the first season game, said announced the starting lineup. He announced May is the starting free safety. Well, that meant two things. You know first, and then I made the tea. That was my goal. You know, you gotta make the demon remains the starting lineup. So then I made the starting lineup was, you know, you know, you know, that was that's a good thing. It's icing on the cake, but I think the other thing is, you know, I don't know that's a really good question..

"I'm Scott Graham, get you set for weak number 14. In the National Football League. Tony, how you doing? 14 weeks. Wow. Scott. We've made it this far. I think we probably the beginning of this year when we started kicking this off and weak one. I think a lot of the conversation was. Would we make it through the season? At what point? Would we be disrupted Because of covert. We're here so far week, 14 still got some Ground to go before the end of the season. But let's just hope we continue to get to the end of the season. Get to the playoffs and Hopefully, we're in Tampa together during the Super Bowl, Hopefully well, one team that was looking to get there and still might very well be the Pittsburgh Steelers, though they are no longer an undefeated team went down in Washington last week. They are 11 and one still trying for the one seed in the A F. C. They go to see the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo team coming off a nice win against San Francisco in Glendale, Buffalo at nine and three. It's our Sunday night football game here on Westwood one, and it's a really big one in the NFC. Well, it's a big one because the Steelers were still The number one seed because of the division record or the conference record compared to the can city chiefs, But they're not playing very good football. My opinion right now They cannot run the ball. Now they do. Get James Connor back. He came off the coded list. But their offensive line just not good, run blocking group and Scott is that look at this game. I don't think the bills were the better team. Now they're not 11 1. They did just lose their first game of the season. But I think the balance you know they could run the ball. Josh Talyn's playing the high level They got good receivers. Good skill set. Their defense is not a strong is the Steelers, but it's good. And then I looked at the Steelers. Yeah, I love big band. I love the receivers. Their defense is better, but it's beat up. You know, obviously they've got some big names out the biggest part of being but to pre, but I go back to in the playoffs. When it counts the most. You have to be able to run the ball and the Steelers can't And I have real concerns about them moving forward. But this Sunday night, huge game. Kansas City Chiefs go to Miami to take on the Dolphins Kansas City right behind Pittsburgh, actually, even with them, but trailing because the tiebreakers 11 and one still looking for that number one seed in a trip back to the Super Bowl. Chance with Miami Dolphins after their win last time out against Cincinnati to get to eight and four to show that they're for real, and that this defense that has been playing very well on opportunistically that really step up this week when they face this Kansas City attack well, the Kansas City attack. I mean, I look at that game against Denver, and there's been times this year where you're like it's Patch of my home's. He's the best, and I do believe he's the best, and that's their spies, Power explosive offense, and then you look at the games and like Denver last week, 22 points and I think this is gonna be a close game. Because my anyplace really tough defense Now I don't think The Dolphins offensively can get enough going to beat the Chiefs, but I do think they'll soon on Patrick, my homes. I think it'll be a close game. But ultimately, Kansas City chiefs will come on out on top. Our Monday night game here on Westwood. One is the Baltimore Ravens in Cleveland Browns. Tony We were just like chock full of games. That means something In the overall scheme of things. Cleveland has guaranteed themselves a winning season. They put on an aid very impressive first half a Tennessee last week and they're now nine and three. Ravens got off the schneid against Dallas on Tuesday night broke the three game losing streak, trying to find their mojo back at seven and five. If you like the play off, Scott, he's a great games. I mean, what a great matchups And they do mean a lot. I mean, you talk about teams right here. Fighting for the playoffs spot probably will not catch the Steelers. Although the Browns they win and the Steelers lose their only a game back. And so there's a lot of the line and the Ravens. You know in that wild card picture right now, but they don't have a lot of room for air. I think the fabulous game division rivals the Browns want to run the ball with cream hunt. Nick Job, That's what they're about. Obviously, Baker Mayfield is playing better the Ravens. What do they want to do it? They want to run the ball and the Mark Jackson not still not throwing the ball very well. But Powerful running attacks. They dominated Dallas Cowboys. This might be a game over and 2.5 hours. Who's both teams are gonna hand it off and run the ball well to that end Tony Thursday night football to kick off week, 14 was a quick 12. That's because the Rams hosting the New England Patriots figured out a way to run the ball. And they also took the opportunity to flex. Um, defensive muscle. Newton under center takes the snap play action.

"Scott Graham joined now by our Westwood One colleague who also is now an author has written a book called Talking to Goats. Of course, here, um, on one that I football here on Westwood one and I've seen him on just about everything else in the entire of the world In the world of sports. Jim Gray is with us. Jim, How are you? I'm doing great. Scott, How are you? I am doing well, thank you. And I'll tell you what it seems to me the number of people over the years that you have either talked with built a relationship with or both. This idea for doing this book seems like it would be a fairly obvious one was it Well, over the course of time. I just decided that it was time. Scott so much has happened. You know, throughout the course of these 43 years, you know, literally tens of thousands of interviews and events and so forth, and so Stedman Graham is a buddy of mine, and he always says to me, Jim Gray. They're paying you to talk to his keep talking, and he's written 12 books himself on identity leadership, and he'd always say, Get this down on paper. Get this down on paper. So he's had a lot of experience and Obviously, you know him and Oprah know a lot about books. So I decided. You know what he's right. So I went and got Ah, together with Greg Bishop, a great writer from Sports Illustrated and I said, Here's what we have. And would you like to do this? I didn't know Greg only from his work at Sports Illustrated. He thought about it came back and said yet I think you've got a book, so let's do it. So he did a great job organizing this, putting it all together and Here We are with the finished product that great It's called talking to goats. Greatest of all time. And if you make a case for greatest of all time from the world of sports, you might have to start with Muhammed Ali. I think there are a lot of people that would feel that way in terms of Not only the greatest athlete, but the greatest presence. It's very possible that he is right at the top of the list. What do you first recall about talking with Muhammed Ali? Well, you're right. And he invented it. Scott. When you say goat, you think Muhammed Ali Because Mohammed Ali used to always tell us on the greatest of all times, Okay? And then his book. His big Passion book came out many years ago. Weighs about £75. It was of all the pictures of his life in the history of his life through the pictures of the Great Howard Big. Um, so that's why all these first on the cover of talking to goats with me, he's first and then there is no ranking after that. Um Yes, because of what he accomplished in the ring and because of what he stood for outside of the ring and because of what he did, in an era long before he became the most popular and famous man on the face of the planet was by word of mouth. Not by the Internet, not by Twitter. Not even by, you know, telephone. Nobody had cell phones back then. So you know people in far away places from America. Knew if Muhammed Ali and what he had accomplished and what he stood for simply by word of mouth and that legend and grew and grew and you know it was, it was often stated back in In the sixties and the seventies that he was more famous and more popular than the pope. So, um, Mohammed Ali? Yes, he is the goat of all goats. And he will he has withstood And persevered the test of time. People remember that electric and animated nature that was his calling card when he was not in that mode. What was Mohammed Ali like? He was always fun. He was always upbeat. Mohammed had no bitterness. Hey, didn't ever to me show any signs of anger, hey, was ferocious competitors in the ring, But outside of the ring, he was a gentle kind man, and he loved kids. And the first interview I ever did was with Muhammed Ali. I was 18 years old Scott. I had never done an interview before and he took me and put his arm around me made me laugh. The third question. He called me the local Howard Cosell. It was the best compliment I had ever received. And I wasn't supposed to be there doing the interview, but they couldn't find anybody else. And so they pulled me out of the edit booth. Nobody had a cell phone. Nobody had a beeper back then. And so there I was. Well, anyway, the interview went well. I came back to edit myself out and the news director Looked at it for an hour and a half. And he finally said you in this tape are going on the air. It's barely adequate. So I tell everybody have been barely adequate ever since, But this was what Ali Woz Ali wanted to help. Young people. There's so many things that people look at iconic Lee in the world of sports and things that people remember as just moments that touch them in some way moments that inspired them in some way moments that angered them in some way. I mean, you were right there with Mike Tyson after he bit Evander Holyfield's ear. When people mentioned your name. I've got to imagine Word association. Pete Rose might be the very first thing that comes up. That's an interesting aspect of things as well. Well, there's a few things that you know, continue to resonate over the years, and the ear biting is one of them. Pete Rose is another. Brady Brady Brady Brady because obviously of what he has been able to accomplish and we're on the radio several times a week during the football season, the decision and so forth, but Yeah. I mean, some of these things have struck a chord with the public and some of them have resonated and some of them are famous. And some of them are infamous. But I mean, any time you were in front Scott of Mike Tyson, you never knew what was gonna happen. I broke my back. What do you mean? You broke your back? My back is broken. Well, what happened to vertebrae? A disc? What happened here? Spinal Okay, so that's been played millions and millions of times. And when you see you can't help but laugh. I still laugh and he wanted to eat Lennox Lewis's Children and rip his heart out and feed it to him. Um, and he he threatened to kill me on the air. On 45. Seconds later, Scott, He kissed me on my cheek. And that was far more disturbing that he kissed me s O. I mean Tyson and then the ear biting in the eye could see his skull for from his orbital bone. That's how deep the wound was. And You know, And then he just said, I just don't have this in me anymore. And then he retired. I mean, there's just been one thing after another in this roller coaster of a life, So that's why the first chapter and in the book talking to goats is about Tyson because We still don't know to this day. What will happen next? It is very true. There is so much to uncover in this. It's called talking to goats. It's widely available right now is also an audio book with some narration, not just from Jim, but from some guests, and some of them may surprise. You don't think most people were expecting to hear snooper Carol Burnett, now reading your book. Wow, that was great of them to do it. And the great Vin Scully does the introduction and I'm honored because he's the best of us for a long time and got that medal of freedom from President Obama few years ago and Been Scully's just are the icon of icons for sports casting. And then you know the best of our generation. The great Bob Costas, who I worked with at NBC for a long time. He's part of the preface, and he reads the preface and he does the table of contents. On the audio book like a lineup card for baseball, and it's quite amusing, a funny and then Tom Brady, who wrote the forward, reads the forward. Good stuff and once again available widely right now talking to goats by our own Jim Gray Jim, thanks so much really appreciate it. Thank you, Scott. "Welcome back to super Sunday I'm Scott Graham it was half a century ago the chiefs raise a little party trophy for the first and last time head coach that day in New Orleans wearing a red blazer with the chiefs crest as he patrolled the sidelights he was also wearing a microphone for NFL films and in the process Hank strand gave Superbowl for its personality and football fans a first look inside the game sixty five times far trapped in my top why don't right use in a wide left again the chief with two tight ends and the running backs are split five running plate coming together on a the making of coaches and players has created a tapestry of NFL history a gift from hall of Famers added now Steve sable and legendary chiefs head coach bank strand but went on to call sixteen super bowls you're on CBS radio and Westwood One today's match up fifty years later is it just a face off of quarterbacks and coaches it's also a game featuring arguably the two best tight ends in the game San Francisco's George cattle and Kansas city's Travis Kelsey Kelsey is reach the one thousand yard receiving milestone in four straight years and continues to be one of the most effervescent personalities in the game I asked Travis this week if part of the motivation today is helping his head coach Andy Reid finally win that elusive world title without a doubt and it's honestly would be like that if you had multiple super bowls hadn't been to one yet that's just the type of coach he is he he engages with his players gets that demand that respect from each and every individual on the team and with that comes you know the the want to win it for not only the guys next year but the coaches are preaching the position for you I talked to before the divisional game and before you look up or down twenty four points and then another gear and then you're down double digits in the championship game and then another offense of gear people from the outside would look at this and say you guys can find that cure whenever you want to is that true each game is different so I mean you can't say that you know we just found the gear from the groove we I feel like we did see what in the first quarter the divisional game we saw what we were doing wrong you know there's a lot of mistakes on our end and soon as we clean up those mistakes everything kinda when it went on from there and then the issue championship game you know you finally you realize that you know dropping the ball is is a good kisser downfield so I mean there's that in and a few mistakes here and there and once you get comfortable and what's going on you know its it's a different it's a different type of feeling when you're out there a couple weeks ago you and I discussed our quarterback and what Patrick has been over the course of his short period of time in the league I detected and other jump in that championship game it wasn't just the run that that brought the touchdown eat it just seemed as though there was just something a little bit extra from him is he still I guess because he's a young young as he is is he still growing every time he's out there of I mean yeah I think you keep growing in this game you never never hit a peak in and that's definitely got that mentality for sure I mean every single week he's trying to go out there and exceed any expectations anybody can put on and he's probably is hard on those expectations of himself than anybody else in the locker room or anybody else in the media this is not a competitor he is sought I think without a doubt he's going to keep growing and growing in this game you take a look at this defense you're going up against and they have been they've been playing downhill I mean they've been playing very aggressively and they do a lot of things well what do you do to slow down their aggressiveness main flat out make plays us it's they're going to be close to the ball they're very they rally to the football they're great they're very good tacklers this is going to be a grind is gonna be gone to try to put points up on this defense and we know that going into it you are one of the best there is there's another tight end on the other side who also is one of the best there is you're the biggest stage is there a way to conjure up a big moment in a big moment or do you have to wait for it to come to you just have to wait for it to come to you and that's that's the reality of it you still want to be aggressive in your pro chin and go out with a purpose but at the same time you know its I learned from a coach that that I've loved ever since I met him coach Kerry company he tells you all the time don't don't try and be more than yourself who you are as always good enough and with that mentality you know just go out there be yourself and and go out and win a football game like you know how congratulations good luck thank you very much Travis Kelsey and his teammates will be waging that battle today the inner struggle of trying to make a difference without trying to do too much as we continue to count down.

"Progress what about two three days to Sunday the road to Super Bowl fifty four Scott Graham with you here in Miami and for the last several years our next guests sat right next to me here in our palatial studios for Westwood One of the Superbowl these out with this necessarily anymore but let happen back at least for a short period of time Super Bowl winning head coach Mike Holmgren coach how are you he's got its good to talk with you I miss you guys I really I know Miami don't have too much fun down there without me okay alright we will try this is this is a heck of a match up that will get an opportunity to talk about here this year you've got a lot of great story lines on both side and the one that goes right back to you into the heart of you obviously is Andy Reid trying to to win a Superbowl talk a little bit about where that relationship began and where it is right now will Eddie was when I was a B. Y. U. as the quarterbacks coach I was one of my responsibilities was to be in charge of the graduate assistant coaches as you know there are four five in each program large program that is still going to school in there they want to coach football into any was one of those guys and that's where I first met him and then during that process you know I was kinda high bowling guys and and and and try to think of I ever got to be a head coach you know would be fit in what I like this guy and we hit it off right away and I you know I I recognize the obvious talents that he has of of leadership of us his sense of humor his his brains is his work ethic and and I told him that when I said as he went on you know he followed me at San Francisco state a help get a job there right coach and then he went on as a college coach I said if I ever get a head job I'm phoning you first and that's what I did I got the Green Bay job phone dandy and was fortunate that he said yeah comments so that's how it started when you look at what his offense has evolved into it and we've watched it over the years the only watch what he did in Philadelphia we watched what he has pieced together over time in Kansas city and it to me anyway you know now I'm asking you because you know about this stuff that I don't it seems like this is been a constantly evolving thing that's risen to a level maybe far beyond what he might even expected it was going to be back when I was a head coach in Philly I think that's a very good point and I recall the conversation I had with him this season I don't talk to me a lot but I text him and we talk on occasion the phone and congratulate him after a big win and I said you know the only problem is you don't do anything I call you everything is different I'm just as wrong completely all that stuff out of the window when he goes you know coach no really because if if you break it down to a lot of the same things we just kind of dress it up a little bit and then we've added the college experience the college stuff to our offense and that's it's exciting and that's a credit to the head coach that's what your job is to to to stay up with the times and create and of course they have the perfect quarterback to do that yeah they have a perfect quarterback there's no doubt and they have a a group of weapons and just push your skill and speed and you're you put all those things together Roberts all talking this week said that you know they can have a an Olympic track team over on that side but they also have a tight end that has the ability an inmate ability to get open at any point in any game against any defense I mean you put all those things together so look at it from the other side right now if you were if you were trying to gain planned this thing and you were the San Francisco forty Niners how you stop the chiefs that's a good question I think you for start with a quarterback first of all and the eighth you kind of trying to keep him in the pocket so he's not making those crazy place outside were were the defensive backs have a tough time staying with the receivers and then you put someone on the tight end you bang him around with a blend of speed yeah in their skill positions and the tight end that.

"Said it was very emotional. Like hard to contain your disappointment from losing in the semi final and then be able to come out and execute in a bronze medal game so took her took their team about you know half the game they came out after the fifth and played much. Better the same. Ms The is true for the Russian team. You know 'cause they also would have lost the semi final and then gone right to this bronze medal game so a bit of a tough turnaround Switzerland so intimately were able to Come through with the win but Have you ever had that experience where you have to you lose a big game and then have to go right into something else only zones where I've lost. This is like ages ago but where maybe I've lost an aside zone and then the the B. side title b semi's like two hours later which is still tough right because zone you're kind of pumped up pointing something but certainly not a European or world. Yeah yeah it just seems seems like really It's a really difficult turnaround. You know to have to switch your mindset. You know away from being disappointed. SORTA let it go. So Uh no good for them for overcoming it but I understand what they're what they're saying so yeah so yeah and then On the B side died. What do we have on the B side So Italy and Turkey went up And then Hungary beat England England in the semi-final to get the bronze. So would you say disappointing Franklin I mean they were right in it. I think I think they're I think for them. The semi final haven't really spoken to to them about it. I was just going off the line scores but the semifinal looked like they were right in it and then coughed up a really big and the late which is kind of handshakes at that point against Turkey so they what kind of right in it against them they they beat them pretty decisively in the round robin game and then lost hungry for second time in the bronze game UH-HUH I think they're losing the semi finals kind of fatal. 'cause what everyone cares about release promotion and so if you lose the semifinal you've got no shot up promotion so you know and you have to win a medal. The cheese cheeses the prize at the Europeans sponsored by Archie. So get harsh hunk of cheese. But I'm sure Lease and crew with trade all that cheese for promotion heartbeat so avoided but certainly a better resolved resolve than Their last two goes where they were just missed out of the playoffs both times so to to finally make the playoffs and she's got a young team to to spelled with. So you know I think kind of looking to come back and and win promotion Next year yeah so so a real building building year for for team England their team Italy and Turkey going up I know you guys talked about them. A little bit but Any surprises not really. I think we had Italy in England and shown picked Italy and Hungary right. Yeah that's right. Yeah that's right so I think it was the class of the field and and Turkey not too far behind The other two now. I don't think anybody thought. Oh they have no. I did overrule Ryan Ryan. Want me to pick Turkey thinking so sorry Ryan Oh and and what better way to segue into talking about our bet. Yes yes yes. I think it was pretty decisive this year. Well it might seem pretty decisive. So the the way that we did it was if you got the exact a podium position of a team that you picked you would get two points. Otherwise is one point for correctly predicting top three team and then one point each for the relegated teams and one point each for the the tier two winners. He's so if I start with the men's side which Ryan and I did Ryan correctly predicted Sweden to win. Got Two points for that and and he predicted Scotland it but in second place not third so he got one point and he also picked Russia's to be relegated so those were his four points He also picked Norway to be in third place. which maybe he'll have some thoughts about About the rooms when gets to it and and in the b-side he picked Poland and Spain to come up but neither of which were able to do so. Four points for Ryan For for me I had Scotland winning. So get one point for that One point for Sweden being in the playoffs. I get No points for Italy. One point for England being relegated also had Denmark which didn't result in points and then one point for having the Czech Republic. Come up from the people so that was four points for me and four points for Ryan so after the men's division we were. We were tied. It was pretty close Now on the on the women's side was where our team did pull out the victory. Both of you had picked and Halberg twin With Breath Switzerland for you Ryan being in second place and Sean pick them in third place and so as a result he got two points for his correct third place prediction where you got one. The other podium teams were Russia for both of you so not too different On that on that end so so after the podium. It's for two three for us GOING DOWN SEAN had Denmark and Latvia. So he gets one point and you pick to to the mother of dragons in stone and Denmark as well so no points for you going down there as for the tier two as we just mentioned Sean had hungry in Italy so one for him and yet England in Italy so one for you Which means John Beach you as an a score of six to four their success and in total ten to eight for the game stones podcasts? So where picking your beer. Yeah Yeah so now. The problem of course is An England so I was at Tesco today and I I looked at some beers. Okay so what do I get a C- years a potential. These are the cheapest cheapest beers I didn't know if the worst the cheapest TESCO opening untapped to give you a rating for them okay. All right Ashfield field's original bidder two point four pack cod cost less than a single beer of okay to two point three seven average on untapped. I think we can do worse. boddingtons three. Seventy for six Powell. Boddingtons that's over three three so no you don't get Biden right. Carl Inc Carling is pretty terrible. Why is it black label or is it Regular Carling It's called carling original lager. This is this is the British carling not the Canadian. Carling right right because that's what I'm thinking of. We're in the two fives for that is too high. All right host then tells Halston Halston pills. There are two point. Nine two does all right. All right All right. There's also a Polish beer. I think yes Polish. I'M GONNA I'M GONNA get a message from STU brand who listens to this time was pronounced pronounced it but it's so I'll spell it T. Y. S. Kfi. I pronounce it. But it's not right at all another one above three But I've had it before and Oh I gave it three stars to wonder if I had it while I was in Poland. Yes it seems seems like I was right and then here's one. That looked bad. Even the worst for this desperadoes auto's original beer with Tequila whoa with desperadoes original beer flavored with Tequila. You know what I'm going to say that's good. That's good enough. The desperados is on untapped. I don't see the one flavored with Tequila but who how we'll make that the beer you drink on your next podcast for thrown all right? That'd be that'd be what what was the other one's low five fifteen. The other one that was low was I think the first one that you said to cheer all right the right. That's where we'll drank all right and Ashfield Rhonda for Ryan. We are going to make him drink simpler times pills. NER available available at trader Joe's as sort of their house brand beer. It is literally the worst thing I've ever put in my in my mouth. Oh Wow wow yeah. I gave it point two five stars on untapped because it was impossible to zero all right Sir trainer jobs for Ryan. That's right I'll I'll send him an email and tone due to pick some up all right. That sounds good all right. Yeah well this is a lot of fun we will good beer on your podcast. Rub It in Ohio right okay. I've got some beer from New Zealand in my fridge Just a friend was just there so brought me back some beer and You know it's it's Christmas time. I'm getting aerobic boat. Christmastime so lots of good beers coming out. Yeah so yeah. There's a lot of fun craft would again next year. I think so I think so and so I guess we usually end the podcast by saying how we can get in touch with each other or how we can find our podcasts. Yeah how do you go about finding years. "Then but I do think that in this case the penalties so much more extreme that maybe it has to be rethought of it. So maybe it's a question of any stones swept with with With a fresh pad. They get pulled as if they're burnt stones or if someone does it for an end. Maybe the penalty similar to what happens. If you're late for a game we lose that and to give up one point lose hammer the next end. So there's there's still a penalty built in but it's not so extreme instill takes away the the incentive to cheat if you well well yeah that that seems a bit more online with what to make sense you know it doesn't it doesn't make sense for a team to automatically Matichon lose but there should be a penalty for violating because of the reasons you stated before so I agree with that. Yeah so something changed but So that's the go to the WC F- in a different member associations so yeah absolutely absolutely so any other thoughts on the Mansfield Looking at perhaps relegation. Well I mean even enter tough week right so their own win. WAS THAT WANNA technicality. They order a few close games. If they're Austin Extra Sweden but they also had a few of their kind of blown out quite decisively. Yeah and I think They lost by one to Switzerland Oakland as well so yeah destroyed them yet. No Switzerland ekstrand loss. Yeah one of the country's one of those. Yeah there's so many so yeah. Tough week for them. A tough week for Russia. Does that surprise you at all Probably a little more surprising like walk I think the scenario that Ryan sketched out out where England stayed up by beating a couple of the teams near the bottom and then this thing up on on. DSE was possible under DNC. Actually was is really good this week as well Russia Russia too big prize. Men's team's not as strong as the women's team that Russian one is programs tend to put out there normally a division team these days so they seem to have a bit of an off week. Yeah and I I sort. I think of them as a pretty permanent a team. Now I going down to the bees next year You know looking at predictions for next year's here's a Europeans. I've gotTA think they'll be a lock to make backup into a this Russian teams a full-time funded team. So Oh most of the teams that people are not they're they're either semi priorities. Straight up amateur so just on the base of that alone. The Russian squad. Norman should be a strong unfavoured in the be absolutely absolutely so. Do WanNa switch to the women or do you WanNa talk about the B pool. Now they just quickly mentioned so the Czech Czech Republic one going up. Finland got silver. And they're going up to appoint Lebron's and actually that matters of bit because has Finland's hosting the wolf off occasion event and so because they finished second Poland. Get the last berth in that so Poland. Polish man actually solve a shot to get the world's what's this year okay. That's pretty good. Yeah that yeah. We have a pretty strong weak overall. It's a an N.. Ryan picked them as one of his teams to make it up so Good pick there and pretty strong week. Yeah and so in your new Russia. Poor wound and the Czech Republic from on the men's side are all still alive with a chance to go to world so I'll be playing in. That world qualification event in January in loya and according to your sources the the English team will be going to this event right last. Lincoln's got a rule that if a team wins the national championship. They get to go so as far as they go international competition so even though our national championships are in February. Were team. Read to win. WHOA qualification event would still have the right to go to this year's world championships even if we were to beat them say in February right right good stuff? Good stuff Anything else on the men. I don't think so I mean I think it's a good competition overall I guess not doing real surprise. Was I say Denmark getting to the playoffs but Yeah absolutely they were the team. I picked to go down to be honest. And they just seems like they had the week of their lives and the way the tiebreakers worked out. It really really helped absolutely so. Yeah it was good competition. It's obviously just Nicodemus world these days and we're all just gets or whatever. Yeah but a bit more competitive was the women's side. which you and Sean talked about on our podcast last week so Why don't you take the lead on on the women's side here and got to see most of the final actually missed the final shot and then got tweeted out by Ryan? It's been this the last there and unfortunately was out doing chores but You have a final was actually moving strong back and forth game Kim back down to a final final shot. I'm sure everyone's seen the final shot and social media now. It's Oh it was Dufferin early contender for shot of the edible shot. Yeah with such stakes. It was pretty pretty amazing sir. Fantastic to see US letters. Fantastic to see eve back like definitely back as one of the top teams in Europe Europe. It's been good to see 'cause the she's been fading a bit. The last two years with the HIP problem and lineup changes the coaching changes. But they had a really solid we can definitely could have won that game. Yeah so I'll send a tape of that too Glenn Howard and say thanks for helping US those few years what we Anisia that. We didn't need you this week. Yeah no they were. They looked solid. All the way through Yeah so it's good to see One of the one of the things that I noticed noticed with Yvonne. Her interview after the game with Rona was that she was visibly disappointed that they didn't win and I think a year ago if you had told her are you okay. You'RE GONNA get silver on an amazing last shot by the other team and she would have been pretty happy with that so the fact that she was little disappointed shows me that she she really is all back physically. I think so. I think that Kind of borrow term from basketball. They're doing a little bit of load management with her. She seems to be playing a bit less of a less of an intense schedule compared to other years. But it didn't seem like there is any hip issues at all. I didn't see any winces when she was throwing thanks. Oh physically these days yeah in great to see great to see of course This was really as you insurance sketched out. There was the top four fourteens at at the top and that kind of everybody else so Switzerland Russia Sweden and Scotland. Finish one through four in the event Looking at the the the rest of the standings the Czech Republic won their last game to ensure their place at world's next year or this year. I suppose Yeah A- and And that was like you could see from their reaction of winning the game they were they were waving at the crowd. Big smiles you know and you don't often and see that for team going three and six but an event where there's real stakes. It's kind of cool that there's things to play for down at the bottom of the of the standings things there's huge things to play for because Into awards gets you those Olympic qualification points. And and even if you're not in the top what is it. Top seven for Olympic qualification. points out for the next two year cycle just having points give you a chance to get into that world. Qualify Olympic qualification tournament. 'cause I think it's five teams next five in terms of points to bind to that than everyone else's is back in some new pre-qualifying tournament so it's basically it allows you to get the Olympics if you're playing in a world championship versus never getting into one. So it's huge for a program like the Czech Republic And we saw Germany. Last year's bronze medallist finishing with a record of five and four. They might appealed disappointed. what do you think breasts are a little bit. I mean SORTA mindless interesting is the top four. Were clearly the top four right. So Switzerland Sweden in Scotland and Russia clear separation. I think movie does concede that Germany at five and four was in its own tier because all the other teams were I. I think three and six are worse. Right right yeah so yeah so the CARNAC comfortably playing the world's but not quite that kind of medals here here I'd say and then it's going to be pretty tough fight. I'd say to get for the other. European teams to get Olympic qualification. Points to the. There's a bunch of good teams. There that are are going to be nick and NIP and Tuck over the the next two years. Yeah and with the the Pacific Asia region having three strong teams Plus Canada probably the USA. So yeah it gets gets pretty tough when it comes to Olympic Olympic time. Yeah Yeah so you probably can probably pencil the big four from Europe Europe Canada the US that six China's already there that seven Korea Japan. That's eight nine so there's probably a bunch of countries that are still pretty strong fighting it out for that that last spot and anything you want to say about the relegation. Yeah I think fear in Norway going back downs not to surprise and they were kind of in that here we were talking about. I think I think actually Denmark doc impressed I would say I. I think that's actually what I said. There are a young team. So they're they're still all juniors The kind of team probably not for this Olympic Cycle. But I keep my eyes on. That team is kind of a future European powerhouse of they all stick with it. 'cause for nineteen had a fair bit of poised they. They were in a lot of the Games they didn't you know didn't seem super intimidate against Hasselbald but it's hassle burke they're playing so yeah yeah and they a They stay up based on the strength of their draw. Shot Challenge as there was three teams at two and seven so Norway were the the losers on the DSP end See you know. DC matters like like we said for the men's side and and you Sean said for the Women Ds's important if you can draw you can skip so learn that lesson out there. Everybody everyone's gotTa drop these days for the SEC. So yeah so it's important skill and it's kind of more and more important these days so you can't really just brush it off his only matter for who gets the hammer anymore. l-low oh absolutely and real to watch any of the Switzerland Russia bronze medal game. I was not where you I watched some highlights from it and it seemed like Switzerland was really struggling in the first half of the game. Alina pats a not making Oliver shots she was playing some difficult ones. So you know you don't knock or too much for that but Silvana said in Oh they played the semi-final and the bronze medal game right after. And she she.

In a scotch doubles event today out in Carleton Place But thirty minutes outside of Ottawa. And you know his his team. They want some money last year so he's looking to repeat and at least get the entry feedback. That's pretty good. So let's not mixed up. This is the old school ver- yeah we'll try some different rules. And I think six stones every team throws and there's no sweeping between the hog lines at all so yeah. A little. Bit of a throwback throwback sounds fun so hope he does well so working to resolve the bad beer. Bet that Sarah Yeah with the euros so Yeah we'll have to talk a little bit about that. However we I go through the results and maybe start with the men I then the women then talk about the bad beer bettman? Who's going to have to drink? What so Let's go for the men's event so I even and watch artists in Canada or were you Like how does it. How does it get coverage on? TSN Yes with TSN had some streaming rates to this so they were streaming some of their games on TSN dossier So what it meant was that even though the games were available on youtube the stream wasn't and so there was black blackout and I think thirty days after the end of the event the full games will be available on Youtube in Canada but You know I have some tricks to to to get around stuff like that and I was able to watch a little bit not too too much. 'cause work was pretty busy and the they frown upon streaming it at work so I caught a bit of it but to be honest with the men's side I don't think there is even A A close game worth watching that involved team Sweden. No no you're right. Sweden rolled through that event. They didn't really maybe break a sweat. Did they no not at all. It was a pretty crazy Because as I talked about before the event it seemed like Sweden was a struggling a bit going in. Didn't really have their legs under them. But boy did they prove everyone wrong. Yeah I was Kinda like last year this kind of Bitney. I was kind of talking down a dean because because his team wasn't playing well all year and of course they just dominated in the world's in the end so I think we can definitely say that a dean as his team knows has had a turn the switch on for the big event. So maybe they're just kind of playing a bit of possum or not really worried all that much with the autumn cash fuel schedule. But they clearly wanted to win this events and watching the interviews after the game He seemed very excited and proud of his team. And ready to start a new streak. After his streak was broken. Last year of five straight the Europeans is looking to start a new one. So I think I think it's hard for me to North American crowds to to appreciate how big the Europeans are for European for European sitting. Doesn't I don't think he has to play a qualifier in Sweden I think they they go off. Point selections so he's he's not never really at risk of not being team Sweden but for them. This is their briar so it is a big event. It's got a fair bit of history qualities but he's definitely going up year over year so I think it did. It was significant to them. Certain lifer to win this event so absolutely absolutely so we mentioned mentioned Sweden seems to have pretty much dominated. The men's field. Are there any surprises. That came out of the Mansfield for you Jonathan. Well so I so basic. We'll get to the big surprise in a second but silver silver for Switzerland which against tones normally regardless of who they send their normally a contender for the playoffs. Scotland Getting Lebron's John's running into the machine in the semi's and then being pretty dominant Denmark was probably the surprise. But you have to put with a bit of an Asterix. They're on that right. So Denmark's snuck in on a record of five and four but Warwick was effectively walked out of the playoffs in the end because of the boom gate game against England. So yes and I'm told you have thoughts on this Sean. I recorded podcast. A cast on Monday night dropped it before the full ramifications were known for this decision so now looking at it having. I'm having a real big impact on the standings. What are your thoughts so I so my experience was I got I? I haven't actually spoken to the guys on the England team directly but I got a bunch of messages from people who are in the England camp not were one player Lisa. Message me but a couple of people that are just kind of their as other coaches or kind of part of the delegation. I don't even I haven't got a clear insight into what conversations were said after the game sign. A one of things on social media was did England you know how could England have accepted this win and Margaret de kind of said. They were proud of the wind but fate. My my reading is they probably didn't have much choice. And part of that are things actually has of how it played out this week. That it's not simply is not simply England's ends game to give back if that makes any sense that had England given it back and Denmark had been denied. The playoffs by Denmark could also lodged a complaint as well so I felt that that's kind of the first thing that some of the social media thing saying that that England should have declined. The win is isn't like your local. You know your local. ESPN Harris coached. Whatever will you can just kind of? Give up the win if you don't want it. There's a lot at stake here for a lot of these countries and Had A country been denied. Say say a world qualification of spot or Olympic points As a result of England giving back the the wind that could have had serious knock on effects affects too. So that's the kind of the first thing the penalty I think's harsh and I am actually aware of it because I've actually had to sub players in post broom gate and and you are. The one is the one that hasn't been called out in all this mess but seeing from a coaching perspective is. Where was the Norwegian coach in all of this that every time I've into a W? CF event the first thing they do is they give the team the most up to date version of the rule book and the second they say is. If you have questions ask curse so The rule is kind of spelled out there in terms of how you handle substitutions those kind of. I'm kind of wondering why how didn't know that if they were just going to throw the player in that's kind of not not not accusation vista question about what happened at that angle. The fourth going off the Norwegian social media post was They made it sound at the said. Oh you put this on. And then that broom on if that's the case if the if they were acting on incorrect advice vice from the umpire than they might actually have had grounds for appeal. Actually is an appeal process in the back of the book too. So I'm not really sure what happened happened with that but I certainly could have could have appeal to the technical director and lodged a complaint about that if if there was a basis for that so I'm not clear on what happened on those things Yeah either so one inch to. Is that the social media post you referenced. The facebook page which was taken down in the during the week after most people already seen it and had it screened capped on twitter and stuff so maybe in Norway Norway sort of realized after some sober second thought that a were a bit in the wrong and took down that post. When when you think of that while as soon as I saw them tweeting out or selfsame posting out my other fighters is actually a rule that you're not supposed to post anything on social media? Disparaging the W CF officials and you sign a waiver when you show up and you can actually disqualify you if they don't like what you Social Niki Air so I actually. You wonder if that rule was mentioned to them and it was Kinda hinted about back down to that was my first thought. Is that the Duggan told that a couple of times. We haven't come close to any kind of situation like this but it has been fly to me a couple of times by kind of W. C. F. officials and kind of experienced coaches to watch what you see on social media when you're at the event and looking to name any names but I've been told the story of a kind of pretty prominent curler a few years ago had kind of a similar rant and They eventually take it back and they were basically threatened with being kicked out of the event. If they didn't so it'd it'd be a little bit careful about that too right. It's it's different from any other pro sport right of a coach goes off on the rafts. After game they often get fined. So you got you got to be a little bit careful sometimes playing in these events for that. Yeah and I suppose even some of the players who weren't playing this event but posted strong feelings May may get a talking to at some point down the road. We saw a lot of Canadian players Express their incredulity with the ruling by the officials so so there's that aspect Denmark benefiting from this but we also see team Norway obviously I title losing out on a playoff position because of this so big ramifications. Here we'll see if anything changes with the rules. I doubt it Do what do you think about Would anything change as a result of this kind of thing or is it more on that team. Well I think there's a case to be made right. So the reason rules there. There is one of the things teams were doing during broom gate with the second round of heads was protecting the fresh pad just so they could carpet a bit late in the game on a last shot. And so that's why the rules in the rule book and that's why the penalty was so harsh but it's clear that nobody I thought through this alternate situation where someone may come onto the game late in the game and You know just be a such a large margin and then make a simple mistake but like exists right so someone Keith Wendorff whose current was former kind of pretty high up in the WC avenue. I think he was coaching. Germany tweeted out and he said I'm actually fine with the ruling and he's his point was nobody. The reason the hog line rule is there is to stop someone from sliding stone all the way down and putting putting it on the button but if the hunt the hotline handle goes off and you're an inch over the hawk line we still pull it right. You mentioned that intention to commit that.

"Think. Probably mention them. Yeah so matt. Hamilton spend wearing my shoes for a couple of seasons. Now it started with his shoes last last year that he debuted at the curling in America I think in that was the The ones that look like circus. Peanut Butter uh-huh Clicking weren't circus peanuts as a certain. Look Yeah so yeah so i. I've done three pairs for him. Those were both Nike's last year. This year he switched up to those baby blue at issues which looked pretty have anything to do with USA curling. Not having the Nike contract anymore. I have no idea but it might also may choose for Becca Hamilton Cory Cory dropkin and his older brother. Stephen are both wearing my shoes and the all pro. NFL guys are wearing a bunch of my shoes. You know jared and mark and Mike and Keith actually jared has five pairs now now and pairs yeah school you got a bunch. Yeah what do you have to now. What do you have to take him? Consideration Ratio for those guys is they're they're bigger dudes. They're putting a lot more stress on their shoes. Is that something that kind of came into consideration when they were choosing. What kind of shoes used they were gonNA use or were they going straight fashion route? Yes so actually. That's a more of a manufacturing issue for me And that's absolutely true. Point so most size and so one of the things that I found with jared shoe he actually Had An issue with one of his shoes that had to repair. And what I found is that the way I wasn't hearing directly to the soul When pressed between a gripper and the soul it was twisting and the adhesive that I used in that instance for person that size in the monitoring they were putting on it? It didn't hold up real well so I've switched to everything now and I don't do direct detached sliders anymore at all everything now is velcro attached. And that's that's working on much better to have that layer in between that can take some of that Some of that Torque do you. Are you able to steal conversion then or are you just Stefan I could do steel. Though I don't have I don't have a source for stealing. I don't have any of the machinery to to work with steel. So it would it would only be to attach a pre existing steel slider disc or such. I I wouldn't actually affect manufacture that so all of my sliders currently They just come from Sheet Teflon that I I you know. Cut to shape shape for every individual shoe so that it matches. Well there's no assembly-line sort of process here a bunch of sliders and just stick them together. Yeah I will say your Teflon's held up really well over two seasons so far it's it's not it hasn't really scratched it. All which is a pretty impressive because off Teflon. That is a bit of a problem. It wears out fairly quickly even the quarter inch so whatever supply using a good supply thanks. So what's the what's the future for curling shoes take. It sounds like you said that. Some of the traditional manufacturers are starting to produce shoes that look more like you know the Nike Cadenas Reebok Style. Shoes do you like to think that you have Some influence Does it look like that's the way curling shoes or going. Or how do you see the future of curling shoes looking. Well I know that The people will like purpose-built shoes. Really I like them and so I think there's always gonna be that but you know all of those manufacturers also do custom shoes so I know they. They've identified that market as well well Is it a fad. I mean I. Is that the question behind. That question is going to go away. Or is it going to overtake purpose-built shoes I I think there will always be a mix but I think that the over the last three years I've seen the trend towards custom shoes expanding and at what point that plateaus or falls. Aw I have no idea. Is it just easier to size. The converted shoes than the than the purpose built shoes. 'cause I know just from just from my shoe buying experience like buying shoes online I would never do just because I know with that from brand to brand like my size changes immensely. It seems like absolutely Well I actually had that same problem problem. I've bought a pair of Swayed new balance shoes that I thought were going to be awesome but I bought them online. Because I couldn't find them locally and they're just to narrow so I don't even wear. I'm so the pair of ten and a half new balance shoes barely worn for sale anybody's if I have that same problem the new balance actually there too narrow near but yeah you're right because you've got maybe a dozen different shoes to choose from and if they don't fit right you what he left with your where something. That's uncomfortable. Try to find more thought to make them feel a little bit better or choose from the thousands of shoes available and have them converted. And that's that's kind of been my experience with curling shoes. Is I wear wides so I mean there are no wide curling shoes. Because there's there's no point in doing it really for them because there. There aren't that many people are going to be buying wides and curling shoes so I basically have to go a size up and then by inserts to make them fit my foot. You're right I imagine that there's probably some decisions made In terms of manufacturing you know. Are we going to design a manufacturer shooting for less than one percent of the population relation section. They'd say no or one percent of the population that girls right so actually rather shoe manufacturer that one percent much larger number and make sense. Yes so you look. You look at the number of curlers. Compared to the percentage of the population in in in even smaller percentage of that percentage Senate. I mean it makes sense. It's a struggle for me but But it does make sense for manufacturing standpoint. I've got a marketing background. So I can see you know you get to the point where you choose not to. You can exclude a certain. A certain percentage of the population. Because you're not gonNA make that much money off of it anyway So in addition into being kind of a curling cobbler you also you also curl Competitively right you wanNA tell us about about your team. I know you said that you're not going through the play down process for traditional nationals. But you are going through the play down process for for club. National's you're just talk about your team and your background where you curl out of and what you WANNA see so I've sort of competitive semi competitive competitive curled for a few seasons now on the team has evolved and changed a bit over the years as players. Come in and out but This year we have a a A decent team of four guys. It's myself and Andy Hoaglund debt third and Jim Ivy. `Second Jason Pereira lead and the a couple of US Jason. I think are the originals on the team going back three three seasons have been playing in the Minnesota State Club. Les Downsizing we've not not done well as well as we hoped Even with a sparse number of participants. So that has US hungry to actually get this accomplished in win once. We're going going after it again this year where you're curling in some some W. C. T. and cash spiel events leading up to that to prepare but that's really our goal for this year last year her last season we did play in the challenge round Again that was mostly in preparatory Anticipation of getting to choose State Club National Club level and playing against better teams. But so yeah you've had an interesting season. So far you You qualified fide at the Saint. Paul Cash Spiel. You got a couple of decent wins there. You beat team sin- Team brundage those are some solid American American teams in your your only two losses were to some names that people will definitely recognize in Rich ruined in and anti-bird. Yeah Right out the gate we got. We Got Ritchie's team you know. They're tough there. Top twentyish team in the world and so but we played pretty tough Played them close through seven ends. Anyway I think it was a two point game after five. That's that's good as I really hope to do against them right out of the gate so so But then our first round against Khabour in the playoffs then again we late late a bit of egg there. So we're we're not gonNA talk about that one indepth. I mean you're probably not the first team to be forced to lay against todd. Imagine he's done that way. A laundry list of people throughout throughout his curling career. In I just really I just WanNa touch on an interesting story. You were telling us. There's a reason that you aren't Play trying into play down for men's nationals. This year you want to go into that in y you're focusing on clubs this year. Yeah well I would love to play in the men's wants nationals someday but You know I mentioned Jason Prayers on my team. He had the great opportunity last season to play in the Americas challenge. Thirteen Guyana as a citizen. he was he and three other guys. Think Ray boy I forget his name Ray. I just know misery anyway Ray. Kind of headed up the whole project with the guy in Guyanese curling organization and working with the World Curling Alling Federation to Get them included and take place in our take part in the Americas challenge so having played for another country Jason was ineligible is ineligible for two full years to play in any event That can lead to a national championship in representing the United States at worlds so Last season we did play in the challenge. Round as I mentioned but We ended up getting a sub for Jason that was GM ivy who is playing with us this year so he came in He did well. We invited onto the team fulltime this year. And so oh but we gotta sit out now. We don't really have any gyms on the team. He's not the sub anymore so we're not eligible to really advance through the challenge round to national. So well shoot if you need a sub I've got eligibility in the US. And then he didn't you just play for a different different country. That was Jonathan. I'm not I assume since it but I'm not eligible now for two years so yeah Ritchie and Corey Dropkin and all those guys can. I'm sure they were really worried. About meandering challenging. Yeah no but yeah. I'm not eligible for any other country for two years at least so yeah and then and then finally Just let people know so Where they can go to order shoes about how much they should be expecting the pay and kind of what the what? The process is basically Let people where they can find you. Yeah that's probably my favorite question then so it all starts at Craig's curling shoes dot com and there I have some blog posts. That'll step you through the shoe selection process It tells you what to look for a lot of things we talked about already here on this podcast what to look for what to avoid how to make a good shoe selection shen Once you've found issue that you.

"Joining me as always from Southampton England our professor of Peel Jonathan Jonathan Haber Craft Jonathan. We have a special guest today. We we've got Craig Nico from Craig's curling shoes and the the reason we issued to him is actually he made a set of custom curling. She needs for me about a year and a half ago and I love them. And I've been noticing a lot of players it kind of all different levels. These days are opting more for the custom option. Rather than buying shoes from a traditional vendors we wanted to talk with them about curling shoes. How custom custom curling's Work and thoughts are on at so Thanks coming on the PODCAST. Craig thinks Fatemi. Just I just sewer clear. Jonathan did not get free shoes. That's not why we're we're doing this interview. Correct hateful Craig. I we had a podcast either. So there's no quid. Pro Quo right to worry about Iraq. Full disclosure yeah. Yeah Yeah we're completely above the board on rocks across the Pond Scott. I don't think anyone's offered us anything through. So Paul means we'll take it. We'll see yeah after coming in. Yeah they made it. Yeah so Craig. What as I've said it made us a lot? More people are using custom curling shoes competitive level and at the club level. So why do you think that change is happening. Well so there. There are probably a few things that are going on. I think that the foremost reason is for fashion style. I think people want to stand out and you can see that. The custom built shoe industry to They're starting to produce more shoes with collar in more sneaker. Like shoes to fit that demand Also you'll comfort you know the traditional shoes Kinda like look like address you might be as comfortable As address you you know so comfort fashion on some of the more obscure reasons are or difficult to find size. I've done up to a size. Seventeen fifteen sixteen are pretty common And then outside of that is orthopedic reasons you know. Sometimes you just need a shoe that has the right archer stuff that you just can't find it in a custom built you I can. I can attest to that I have. I Have High Arches. Shes in my first pair of curling shoes that I bought and I won't name the company but they were extremely uncomfortable. I had to go and get inserts. Hurt just to make them tolerable and they felt like wearing bricks. So you so you're obviously filling a need but How how did you get into this? How did did you decide to start making custom curling? Choose What actually happened is my my wife and some friends from the club? Have a mixed is team and we like to travel around Bondsteel a lot. We usually hit the really fun spills. And so we like to go in costume and dress up or whatever so One of the things. My team mate suggested searching online was these led light up shoes and he thought. Can you turn this into a current. You think you can make curling shoes out of these. And I thought I bet I can so start sourcing. Finding Teflon gripper's and cobbled together some shoes with crude tools in the garage and They turned out really well. The the women said that they were super comfortable. Mine weren't ask comfortable but They loved them. They said their their favorite shoes. And I thought well. If that's your favorite rich shoes that might be something to pursue so sad on it. I didn't do anything more on with that. But then You know I don't not sure if you're familiar with shot route curling supplies They closed the doors just a few years ago. and Peden Marine stole. Were running that. And they had started making custom shoes and so all of a sudden in the Midwest there there was a bit of avoid For somebody to make custom curling shoes and do Toco and things like that. So word of mouth kind of spread I got some business and I thought well I should actually turn it into a business and here I am. Yeah so the reason I reached out to you because I couldn't find a custom. Sam Shoemaker in the UK. So there's no market and I kinda gould around and My in laws live in the twin cities so a concert. Probably get funded from deliver the shoes and pick up ship them to be says what we did but my reason for doing it was I'd move from playing skipped Front end and sleeping techniques have changed a lot less years and so it had a pair of kind of Brand name shoes. Let's say the brand that that'd been pretty happy with for years but I'd never ver- hadn't using the stupid as soon as I just started sweeping again and doing all the new footwork. It was not comfortable to do that. So I just kind of wouldn't pick a pair of shoes that I use the gym. So they're they're called nobles they're like Brandon. I guess initially cross-stitch shoes but I found their movie comfortable and also a lot more more useful for facade decide movements and actually also kicking off the hack so I kind of identified those and sent them to you and you did a fantastic job really happy see with them. But I'm wondering what makes for a good show but what do you think makes for for a good curling show. Yeah well so that's going to be dependent on the person I suppose to some degree you know like you mentioned front ended player back and player different needs Do you have a tuck delivery or a flat foot delivery all all. That's GonNa Change the type of shoe you're GONNA look at probably but in general terms I think that something with a sturdy upper a a something with a less than the floppy campus like an all star those types. I do some of those but I just I feel like that's just not the greatest shoe because it doesn't have lateral stability floppy you know they're not great but Something with a amid soul that suits suits. Here's what you need whether it's flexible. Whether it has a lot of rigidity you know depending a lot of variables probably warmth to some people get colds. Some people get hot foot you who is going to be a personal preference. Yeah one is a notice this year. Some of the reporters have gone to weightlifting shoes. You ever done a weightlifting shoe conversion or those weightlifting and weight training shoes like his. Okay throw brand names sure. They're they're already did that with all-star the like the Mexicans were really popular for a long time and they still remained pretty popular for curling shoe because they have a flattish soul And and there's not a lot compression that Seoul material so it stable and then the Adidas powerless became real popular. You'll see a lot of those now now. They're they're more difficult to convert but they're still real popular Basically it comes down to the The He'll lift don that shoe matches somewhat of the some of the purpose built shoes. So it's not completely flat. You get a little bit that he lift for those people that like to get up on their distal touch without without having to strain their cash or anything so I think it fits real well for a lot of people. Yeah Is there are certain kinds of shoots easy to convert or and you mentioned the Congressmens are tough to convert Anyone's that are kind of easiest kinds to convert. Yeah I well so in terms of converting the Seoul that's primarily what we're working with right A rubber sole versus like a plastic or polyurethane sole. That's the easiest something that's relatively flat if it has a large upturn at the tower the he'll like a like a rocking horse like a running shoe Obviously you're putting a flat piece of Teflon on there. It's difficult to get that to work right The uppers I think you know a Lotta I see a lot of Mesh top uppers and maybe people have hot feet and like like the cooling of that air blowing through the top of the toe And that works fine. It's just sometimes difficult to do. The Tokyo Tokyo's on as a liquid material let hardens and so it soaks into that mash a little more There's just some extra precautions for that but it's still works and anything special in terms of say converting for sliding Kinda shoots great for sliding versus one. That's great for sweeping well. We talked about the the powerlifting. Are that these power lifts and the Mexicans and those were great also the The basketball shoes have a real strong ankle and real firm mid sole soul which works great for Flat Foot slider So in terms of sliding this is where we get into a different type of delivery for every person I think And so if you're up on your show you probably want something. That has a pretty flimsy or flexible mid sole so it's not real rigid so so it can band but if you're a flat foot then you want something that has a lot of that a lot of firmness through that mid-sole so it doesn't have that lateral twisting that you need if your tuck deliver so I'm going to look at different shoes for different people. What are some of the more interesting shoes that you've that you've converted? I imagine. Ah I imagine that You know people are wanting to kind of express their fashion sense a little more on the curling ice that I imagine it's gotten even more interesting through the years. What are some of the more interesting shoes that you've turned into curling shoes? Yeah a lot of different shoes. It's my wife. As you might imagine has an array of shoes to choose from by now And she has a different color different style for every outfit she wants to wear there. And at one point she brought to me these Ruby red wind swayed velvety kind of shoes that had glitter across across the heel. And I thought you know these look pretty cool. But how do we keep that glitter from falling off Is So I steal that up with some clear sealant ness not service. That I would normally offer and actually somebody did send me in some full glitter shoes shoes and I nearly had a panic attack. Anybody that knows me probably knows that. I'm not a big fan of glitter. Anyway this stuff gets everywhere but the these shoot the entire upper was glitter and they were like purply kind of iridescent the glittery stuff in it shed so it was all over the shop and It was a mess. I hope that I hope that they're iceman. Woman is not cursing me to this day but I imagine they might be about to say. Are you just the bane of the existence sense of every ice maker in your area. Maybe I had One guy made shoes for sent me. Some Adidas Superstars with accustomed toe. It was a it was a metal toe cap that was That was a gold colored tow but it was metal and I tried talking talking into a Toco to protect that on the ice and he says I don't. I don't really press down with my two. I think it'll be fine while those shoes came back about a week later and I think he and his friends started calling the scratchers but I ended up putting Toko over the top of that Metal Malto Forum. Are you able to clear to- code. I wish I wish that I was But the material that I use has is a two part poxy type of material and the catalyst is clear but yellows as it ages and so Clear is probably impossible. Get cloudy in fact they have a white material that they don't really advertise. Because it's not really white. Amin white is an absolute color rights. Either white or not white but there's everything that looks like it's white but it's close and so if you try try put a white toe on a white shoe in the same white you know it's not GonNa it's not gonNA look real good. It's going to look like he just missed and so I don't do the whites either. mm-hmm yeah so. Do you have any famous curlers. You've done choose for your to to mention or.

only out for this game but out for the foreseeable future yeah I mean how disappointment and never heard of that before an NFL quarterback not playing because of mono and you know it's something that we know can be prolonged yet you lose weight you're tired how long before he bounces back and it's interesting that you hear the report now I went back and watch the game and he really struggled you know look like you know he didn't have his feet under him he wasn't playing well I don't know if it had anything to do with mono or not but it seems to make a little more sense now so disappointing with this big game as you said both these teams needed to young quarterbacks going you know head to head and now him not being there I think that's a huge blow for the jets in on the other side as you said Cleveland how disappointing was that the biggest thing you came into the game going okay got all the shiny weapons on the outside could they protect on the interior and that was really where they struggled is that Baker was was under duress all day long going to be something to have to watch for the entire year and then maybe the flip side I thought their defensive front was going to be really good this year you know some good young guys on the backend given up forty three points and I know a lot of those points came late but to a Tennessee team that struggled to score very disappointing performance but without Sam Donald you gotta believe they're going to be able to you know come out here and get a strong showing in week two in sports they say there are no guarantees now I've got to think that perhaps this one could be a guarantee in most people's. the New England Patriots coming off their win against Pittsburgh dominant on Sunday night the dolphins completely blown away in their opener against the Baltimore Ravens fifty nine to ten the only thing you think about here is New England has really struggled in South Florida in recent years but and a lot of ways it would be hard to imagine the dolphins being able to stay with the patriots I know it we said that in the past right is that they just you know so lopsided sometimes when you watch these two teams and what they're made of but you're right you know there's something about South Florida that for whatever reason gives New England problems but yeah I don't see it you're watching that game last week I don't even know what Miami was trying to do on defense they made it so easy on Lamar Jackson to get big play after big play now maybe that was the nature of how Baltimore plays which of course doing the place different but yeah I I don't really know what to expect from this team unimir rumors that geyser talking to their agents about getting out of there because they feel like they're kind of throwing the season so all that stuff doesn't bode well mean it's it's weak number two and on the flipside I I thought New England played great you know you didn't know what they were gonna be offense of late they didn't skip a beat that you know they're like a chameleon that they could change their personnel groupings really looked good and I believe their defense is probably going to be better than they've been in the last couple years so on paper I'm with yeah I think this looks like a blow out you know get away from Miami quickly but you know we see stranger things happen stranger scheduling quirk this year the Buffalo Bills can start calling MetLife stadium home a place to jets there last week as the road team and now the giants this week is the road team buffalo that that victory against New York coming back last week the giants although they got an opening score against the Dallas Cowboys blown away by the cowboys and has a lot of people wondering what this season is going to be for the G. men yeah I'm first thing is you gotta get se Kwan more involved only about fifteen touches which is crazy when you think about the way they play but again they've got a lot of issues there they're going to need to have a lot of guys step by. up in the bills on the other side their defense is going to show up they looked really good last week they were really good last year I expect them to show up this is really all about Josh Allen and he came on I made some plays in the second half and brought them back to a win but I think it's gonna be about quarterback play on that side of the ball Arizona Cardinals got an early holding that much offense then they came back forced a tie with Detroit last week now it's a little bit tougher on the road against the ravens in Baltimore yeah I mean ravens offense is rolling it's going to be different that the cardinals defense a struggle to stop the run over the last year plus you know but as you said a little excitement here in Arizona because of the way they finished and Kyler showing that special ability to make big plays but bottom line is they got to be more efficient they didn't play very well offense of the the entirety of the game they can't rely on.

"Let's finish out the game. In Hartford, Scott Graham, Donny Marshall, college basketball this game. He goes way over it. And it really just was a little lack luster. Lackluster, those of you just joining us across our network. We've got just a minute twenty four to go here in Hartford. The Florida state is putting the finishing touches on a terrific ballgame as they had taken it to Murray state all night long. They've got an eighty eight to sixty. Twenty four to go with your children and to find out about how job Iran did. Well, became gave me all time assist. Leader Murray state scored twenty eight points, but his team was never really in this game Ike Davis throw line right now for Murray state. This is a free throw that on the bench. Right. It's out over set. Davis is good. And this this would have been a game. If it was just Florida state's bench against Murray state, Florida state's been scored forty five points that is amazing. They went very deep on the bench early in this game. The other ad that's going to be a celebration Harrison create oh, Ford Mandeville Louisiana against his neighbor to the scorebook down at the other end a drive. Bobby outside a pass it around y at Wilkes has a bucket in this one. Come back here side, get better opportunity. Couple of players don't play very much that shot was put up by Justin lender. But the ball movement other moving these are the guys who play against us. Yes. Do the scout team stuff all the time. Steal at the other end you root for these guys. If you're a starter, a guy who gets a lot of minutes because you know, most of their practices are standing on the side clapping their hands and cheering for you spin it around the arc again. Travis tries to three it's no good map. All will over the sideline. Seventeen seconds left to go in the ball game. This was going to be in the books and Florida state is going to be advancing in the west region. What may be a date with the number one overall seed in the west? Zag long three Puerto third for Jaylen Johnson. Right for the rebound. Yahtzee kept it alive. Davis outside wanted three. He can't get back to the rest of the night for bury St. they shoot less than thirty three percent at Florida state for the ACC flex its muscle. Was about more than one player. It was about a team effort of the Seminoles added tonight. They knock off bury St. Peters sixty two to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in the west region. Impressive from start to finish for Florida state. They had a game plan. It wasn't just a guard one guy. They did it on a string meeting together. Defensively. Now, they got hot. And they started hot from three that helped them build the lead. And I believe also gave them the confidence to defend together at the other end. It was their defense. Attorney Murray stayed off like a spigot, but it also was their offense. They continue to hit the boards hard all night long. Second chance opportunities were plentiful. And it was a fine performance. All the way around at home again for the Seminoles of Florida state. A big ninety two sixty two win a trip to the Sweet Sixteen Seminoles of Florida state, one guy was absolutely big. And getting this done came off the bench, and I need immediately. Injected some offense into this team. We're joined now by the I'd do cabin gala. Congratulations on a five performance. It seemed like you were feeling it personally as soon as you got it to the ball game hot hand almost immediately. Yeah. You know, what happened recently with film or teammate really inspired a very motivated not to let him down and want to bring a lot of energy and bring some positive. Tom. So our credit to him, and I'm very thankful guys. Scored forty seven points off the bench. What it seemed like when you made when you made threes to start the game it almost gave you guys even more confidence on the defensive end than you come in. It's almost put Murray stayed away in the first ten minutes of this team. Was that part of what you guys wanted to do. Yeah. Definitely will be down shots opened the floor for driving lanes or guards. A great job getting inside out threes. We knock them down for the floor for us us. We're able to get post touches in the defense collapse down in opened the door for everybody. So I'm very happy with how the coaches say executing any, well, I gotta say I want to give you a hard time. Everyone thinks of you as a player, but she plays some deed, you block the shot down here on their big. Boy, I was teammates with your uncle decay. Mattel bolts I wanted to see the finger wave man, you could just just go back on me. Yeah. That's the case on different. Goes on on my own Nissan out. I get a pleasant trip back down to Florida. And then a trip out to the coast. You could be faced the number one seed you guys have been down this road before you understand deep into a tournament. Is that experience from last year help you now? Absolutely. You know, our preparation going to this weekend, the California center project successful recommend pretend you're gonna face professionally Gonzaga. And if you win met one potentially Michigan we continue to get to the final four. Congratulations had a terrific effort. Good luck. Thank you so much the I do cabin galley. He was the guy who came off the bench led his team in scoring yet again as he did all year long twenty two points for us to announce the Mercedes Benz vans player began it's got to be that guy. Listen, just in the interview against so impressive. Just because he gives all the credit to where he supposed to obviously, he's a tremendous player do both ends of the floor. But the just the attention to detail he has not for on the floor just only on the floor but off the floor as well. Such an impressive impressive young man for Leonard Hamilton. He is the player of the game. Sponsored by cities Benz vans built for you. The all new sprinter built in the USA ten for twelve from the floor of the game. He also threw in seven rebounds ago with his twenty two points. "I'm Scott Graham here in Atlanta, Trey flowers had himself a fine year this year starting fifteen games that was a career high. Also putting up seven and a half sacks. That was a career high twenty percent got a chance to talk with him about the motor that he plays with every single down. He's on the field never met just want to. The I'm not gonna make every play which you wanna faked it in any way, you can you know, hus- into the ball. No disrupting the play or you know, just being in the mix. So, you know, this kind of kind of how rages on the next play because a lot of people tell me, you know, I should celebrate. When you say things, but to be honest, I just be focusing on this play like, okay, I need to get another one. Can you need to get another one? So italia. We talk about sex. But I know in this defense, especially with goes Bill Belichick you'd better play the run too. What do you find most defensive and say it's all about getting the sack watch you play. You get some satisfaction by doing your job in the run game too. Don't you? Oh, you definitely noticed. One thing that promo cellphone, just you know, being dominant. You know is wanting to run around a guy, you know, there's a great play and things like that. But you know, there's also a great play when you can use your technique, the fundamental everything. Just go perfectly. You're not play. Come your way, you stand your man, you should the blocking get attacked. Title for no gain. So is one of the things are probably my cellphone just being able to you know, stop the run put them in past the situation. And then it after the past couple of great offense as last couple weeks as you've watched film for two weeks. Now getting ready for this football game. What's the biggest threat? You think the Rams face? You guys faced with the Rams just their running game in their play action pass game in game. I was great great running bags in the bag field. You know, the technique as style of blocking that line. You know, has is you kind of get you out of position and things like that. And you know, those guys can definitely run the ball and galaxy to play action pass guys outside is able to get down the field on all time open. And you know, they will and you know, golf is able to get it through. So thank those two things. Just as far as planning to run in. Honesty. Gotta use some pressure players. You pass is going to be tough. But we just on that you gotta do at is Trey flowers, I'm joined once again by my co host hall of Famer Jason Taylor and Jason trae in that situation. The patriots defense in this situation going up against the Rams offense. I've kind of had the feeling all week long. Bill Belichick was going to come up with something that's going to be designed to confuse the head and the eyes of young quarterback Jared Goff. Is that the way he generally plays it? Yeah. He does especially when he has two weeks to prepare with Super Bowl having that.
