Good luck this year with your team. Thanks I appreciate it thanks guys. Hey everybody it's Jonathan here for rocks across the pond and the game of stones. PODCAST and joining me is scarf. Graham half of the game PODCAST team you'll note that both of the hosts are today. I think Ryan is has togethers. RV Back that. He drove up to BLACKSBURG VIRGINIA FOR VIRGINIA TECH Game. so that's his excuse. And what Shawn's excuse. Scott Sean is playing. In a scotch doubles event today out in Carleton Place But thirty minutes outside of Ottawa. And you know his his team. They want some money last year so he's looking to repeat and at least get the entry feedback. That's pretty good. So let's not mixed up. This is the old school ver- yeah we'll try some different rules. And I think six stones every team throws and there's no sweeping between the hog lines at all so yeah. A little. Bit of a throwback throwback sounds fun so hope he does well so working to resolve the bad beer. Bet that Sarah Yeah with the euros so Yeah we'll have to talk a little bit about that. However we I go through the results and maybe start with the men I then the women then talk about the bad beer bettman? Who's going to have to drink? What so Let's go for the men's event so I even and watch artists in Canada or were you Like how does it. How does it get coverage on? TSN Yes with TSN had some streaming rates to this so they were streaming some of their games on TSN dossier So what it meant was that even though the games were available on youtube the stream wasn't and so there was black blackout and I think thirty days after the end of the event the full games will be available on Youtube in Canada but You know I have some tricks to to to get around stuff like that and I was able to watch a little bit not too too much. 'cause work was pretty busy and the they frown upon streaming it at work so I caught a bit of it but to be honest with the men's side I don't think there is even A A close game worth watching that involved team Sweden. No no you're right. Sweden rolled through that event. They didn't really maybe break a sweat. Did they no not at all. It was a pretty crazy Because as I talked about before the event it seemed like Sweden was a struggling a bit going in. Didn't really have their legs under them. But boy did they prove everyone wrong. Yeah I was Kinda like last year this kind of Bitney. I was kind of talking down a dean because because his team wasn't playing well all year and of course they just dominated in the world's in the end so I think we can definitely say that a dean as his team knows has had a turn the switch on for the big event. So maybe they're just kind of playing a bit of possum or not really worried all that much with the autumn cash fuel schedule. But they clearly wanted to win this events and watching the interviews after the game He seemed very excited and proud of his team. And ready to start a new streak. After his streak was broken. Last year of five straight the Europeans is looking to start a new one. So I think I think it's hard for me to North American crowds to to appreciate how big the Europeans are for European for European sitting. Doesn't I don't think he has to play a qualifier in Sweden I think they they go off. Point selections so he's he's not never really at risk of not being team Sweden but for them. This is their briar so it is a big event. It's got a fair bit of history qualities but he's definitely going up year over year so I think it did. It was significant to them. Certain lifer to win this event so absolutely absolutely so we mentioned mentioned Sweden seems to have pretty much dominated. The men's field. Are there any surprises. That came out of the Mansfield for you Jonathan. Well so I so basic. We'll get to the big surprise in a second but silver silver for Switzerland which against tones normally regardless of who they send their normally a contender for the playoffs. Scotland Getting Lebron's John's running into the machine in the semi's and then being pretty dominant Denmark was probably the surprise. But you have to put with a bit of an Asterix. They're on that right. So Denmark's snuck in on a record of five and four but Warwick was effectively walked out of the playoffs in the end because of the boom gate game against England. So yes and I'm told you have thoughts on this Sean. I recorded podcast. A cast on Monday night dropped it before the full ramifications were known for this decision so now looking at it having. I'm having a real big impact on the standings. What are your thoughts so I so my experience was I got I? I haven't actually spoken to the guys on the England team directly but I got a bunch of messages from people who are in the England camp not were one player Lisa. Message me but a couple of people that are just kind of their as other coaches or kind of part of the delegation. I don't even I haven't got a clear insight into what conversations were said after the game sign. A one of things on social media was did England you know how could England have accepted this win and Margaret de kind of said. They were proud of the wind but fate. My my reading is they probably didn't have much choice. And part of that are things actually has of how it played out this week. That it's not simply is not simply England's ends game to give back if that makes any sense that had England given it back and Denmark had been denied. The playoffs by Denmark could also lodged a complaint as well so I felt that that's kind of the first thing that some of the social media thing saying that that England should have declined. The win is isn't like your local. You know your local. ESPN Harris coached. Whatever will you can just kind of? Give up the win if you don't want it. There's a lot at stake here for a lot of these countries and Had A country been denied. Say say a world qualification of spot or Olympic points As a result of England giving back the the wind that could have had serious knock on effects affects too. So that's the kind of the first thing the penalty I think's harsh and I am actually aware of it because I've actually had to sub players in post broom gate and and you are. The one is the one that hasn't been called out in all this mess but seeing from a coaching perspective is. Where was the Norwegian coach in all of this that every time I've into a W? CF event the first thing they do is they give the team the most up to date version of the rule book and the second they say is. If you have questions ask curse so The rule is kind of spelled out there in terms of how you handle substitutions those kind of. I'm kind of wondering why how didn't know that if they were just going to throw the player in that's kind of not not not accusation vista question about what happened at that angle. The fourth going off the Norwegian social media post was They made it sound at the said. Oh you put this on. And then that broom on if that's the case if the if they were acting on incorrect advice vice from the umpire than they might actually have had grounds for appeal. Actually is an appeal process in the back of the book too. So I'm not really sure what happened happened with that but I certainly could have could have appeal to the technical director and lodged a complaint about that if if there was a basis for that so I'm not clear on what happened on those things Yeah either so one inch to. Is that the social media post you referenced. The facebook page which was taken down in the during the week after most people already seen it and had it screened capped on twitter and stuff so maybe in Norway Norway sort of realized after some sober second thought that a were a bit in the wrong and took down that post. When when you think of that while as soon as I saw them tweeting out or selfsame posting out my other fighters is actually a rule that you're not supposed to post anything on social media? Disparaging the W CF officials and you sign a waiver when you show up and you can actually disqualify you if they don't like what you Social Niki Air so I actually. You wonder if that rule was mentioned to them and it was Kinda hinted about back down to that was my first thought. Is that the Duggan told that a couple of times. We haven't come close to any kind of situation like this but it has been fly to me a couple of times by kind of W. C. F. officials and kind of experienced coaches to watch what you see on social media when you're at the event and looking to name any names but I've been told the story of a kind of pretty prominent curler a few years ago had kind of a similar rant and They eventually take it back and they were basically threatened with being kicked out of the event. If they didn't so it'd it'd be a little bit careful about that too right. It's it's different from any other pro sport right of a coach goes off on the rafts. After game they often get fined. So you got you got to be a little bit careful sometimes playing in these events for that. Yeah and I suppose even some of the players who weren't playing this event but posted strong feelings May may get a talking to at some point down the road. We saw a lot of Canadian players Express their incredulity with the ruling by the officials so so there's that aspect Denmark benefiting from this but we also see team Norway obviously I title losing out on a playoff position because of this so big ramifications. Here we'll see if anything changes with the rules. I doubt it Do what do you think about Would anything change as a result of this kind of thing or is it more on that team. Well I think there's a case to be made right. So the reason rules there. There is one of the things teams were doing during broom gate with the second round of heads was protecting the fresh pad just so they could carpet a bit late in the game on a last shot. And so that's why the rules in the rule book and that's why the penalty was so harsh but it's clear that nobody I thought through this alternate situation where someone may come onto the game late in the game and You know just be a such a large margin and then make a simple mistake but like exists right so someone Keith Wendorff whose current was former kind of pretty high up in the WC avenue. I think he was coaching. Germany tweeted out and he said I'm actually fine with the ruling and he's his point was nobody. The reason the hog line rule is there is to stop someone from sliding stone all the way down and putting putting it on the button but if the hunt the hotline handle goes off and you're an inch over the hawk line we still pull it right. You mentioned that intention to commit that.

That was a career high twenty percent got a chance to talk with him about the motor that he plays with every single down. He's on the field never met just want to. The I'm not gonna make every play which you wanna faked it in any way, you can you know, hus- into the ball. No disrupting the play or you know, just being in the mix. So, you know, this kind of kind of how rages on the next play because a lot of people tell me, you know, I should celebrate. When you say things, but to be honest, I just be focusing on this play like, okay, I need to get another one. Can you need to get another one? So italia. We talk about sex. But I know in this defense, especially with goes Bill Belichick you'd better play the run too. What do you find most defensive and say it's all about getting the sack watch you play. You get some satisfaction by doing your job in the run game too. Don't you? Oh, you definitely noticed. One thing that promo cellphone, just you know, being dominant. You know is wanting to run around a guy, you know, there's a great play and things like that. But you know, there's also a great play when you can use your technique, the fundamental everything. Just go perfectly. You're not play. Come your way, you stand your man, you should the blocking get attacked. Title for no gain. So is one of the things are probably my cellphone just being able to you know, stop the run put them in past the situation. And then it after the past couple of great offense as last couple weeks as you've watched film for two weeks. Now getting ready for this football game. What's the biggest threat? You think the Rams face? You guys faced with the Rams just their running game in their play action pass game in game. I was great great running bags in the bag field. You know, the technique as style of blocking that line. You know, has is you kind of get you out of position and things like that. And you know, those guys can definitely run the ball and galaxy to play action pass guys outside is able to get down the field on all time open. And you know, they will and you know, golf is able to get it through. So thank those two things. Just as far as planning to run in. Honesty. Gotta use some pressure players. You pass is going to be tough. But we just on that you gotta do at is Trey flowers, I'm joined once again by my co host hall of Famer Jason Taylor and Jason trae in that situation. The patriots defense in this situation going up against the Rams offense. I've kind of had the feeling all week long. Bill Belichick was going to come up with something that's going to be designed to confuse the head and the eyes of young quarterback Jared Goff. Is that the way he generally plays it? Yeah. He does especially when he has two weeks to prepare with Super Bowl having that.

He does especially when he has two weeks to prepare, you know, with Super Bowl having that we can between where they play the Pro Bowl and give these guys at the next year. Handful of days the game plan. So. I think there's a lot of pressure, but there's a big emphasis on his defense alive for the New England Patriots number one shutting down the run if they can't stop the rumble girly and Anderson they're going have they could have some problems up front. But then as as he was saying is flowers say the ability to see the play action pass, and then try to get some pressure from that point. I think is where where Ellie kinda separate themselves a little bit. They do a really good job of having so much window-dressing in the backfield. And then when that ball was pulled golf has time to throw the football. So there's gonna be some pressure on those on those guys up front to get the golf. But Bella takes had a long time to really think about it and take away that number one option on the outside whoever Bella determines to be the number one option in the passing game based off of play action. "I respect causeway so much. What do you do? But a game his knowledge of the game. So anytime, you have a chance to be a part of a coast like that man, a future hall of fame. Another future hall of fame. Coach anytime you've got a chance to get attached to play for him or listen listens. This information or learn something from a man, this is you have to do it. Ramps. A key to leave told me on Monday night about the defensive coordinator. He so admires the guy who ended up making it. So that he went to the Rams and it's now playing once again in a Super Bowl. Back to the road to Super Bowl fifty three three days to Sunday longside Super Bowl winning head coach, Mike Holmgren. I'm Scott Graham from Atlanta, and you take a look at what Wade Phillips is accomplished over his career. It is extensive and he is the guy who right now has to stare down Tom Brady and the New England Patriots offense and try to come up with a winning game plan. They got here with the play that everybody is talking about the non pass interference call in the NFC championship game. That is always going to be attached with an asterisk to whatever ends up happening. This year our own Edward or caught up with Wade Phillips today and asked him when that play happened if he feared that the flag was coming. No. We just play every player in the game. I mean, they don't you know, when we think Aaron Donald was held we started hollering, but they don't call it. So you go the next play. I mean, that's the way the game especially non calls. You know, if there's a non call like, I say, I mean, we we said, I guess earned dollar, and we thank you was held. But he, you know, they didn't call it. So that's the way it goes in the Commissioner doesn't explain any of those non calls. No the facemask against our quarterback when? Wasn't brought up you know. So we didn't lose the game. So. That's. It happens in football a lot. The nobody's perfect. But you go on and play the game calls in the game happen. Quite a bit interference calls in the end zone. Gives you ball on the one yard line where you know, we didn't think it was interference. You know, they did whatever whatever happens in the ball game. You have to you have to live with and go to the next plane, and hopefully you have an opportunity to to win the game. And when we did and they did to really twice after that. You were your father bums, western style jacket and a cowboy hat on the Rams charter to the Super Bowl. Can you? Explain why. It was a tribute to him. I mean, that's really. He passed away a few years ago. I really felt like after the Super Bowl when Gary kubiak with Denver, Gary kubiak tab me on the head and said your dad would be proud. "Preview. Hear on Westwood One along with all the Famer Kurt Warner Scott Graham, getting set for week number ten the lions and bears get together in Chicago two teams in completely different situations right now with the lions at three and five coming off their loss at Minnesota. The bears took care of business against buffalo and at five and three. This is one of those teams that you really get the feeling that they're starting to feel who they are. And what this season can be. Well, I think the Chicago team has a lot of pieces, you know, the defense. They're led by the defense that continues to to rally and create turnovers and get points and set up their offense. Their offense has playmakers in the backfield and on the outside. I think this routine really comes down to Mitch Trubisky at the quarterback spot is he still growing. He's not there yet. But he's been making some place for this football team. I think they're going to go as far as he can carry them off. Pensively the scored a lot of points recently. But more of it has been manufactured by their defense or easy plays with Matt Nagy, creating some fun stuff for for Trubisky. And then it's Detroit team. I'm not really sure who they are what they're going to be. I think everything really stems around not Matthew Stafford but they're run game. They seem to play so much better. When they get kerryon Johnson in the run game going a little bit. The question is against his good Chicago defense. Can they do that the Green Bay Packers after their loss to New England last week three four and one now the margin for error is down to basically almost zero? And if there is any marketing forever it can't be in a home game against the Miami Dolphins. That's what they've got coming into town Miami five and four certainly in the mix in the AFC off their win against the jets last week. But if you're a Green Bay fan, if you're a Green Bay player, this is one you absolutely have to have. No, you have to have this one. I mean where they sit in the division. The last two games were tough games against the Rams and the patriots. And they got a couple of other tough games on. Decky or so this is the one in the middle where you say we're at home against the Miami team that has their backup quarterback playing in the art scoring a lot of points. This has got to be our get right game is Aaron Rodgers said this week. We're still not hitting on all cylinders offensively. Somehow they've got to find a way to start clicking a little bit. Because it just seems so hard when you have a great quarterback like that it shouldn't be that hard for them to manufacture points. But that has really been the issue. But as you said, this is a game, you cannot lose. If you lose this game. You almost have to feel the seasons about over. You know, the Atlanta Falcons are channeling their inner Monty python saying we're not dead yet. Because clearly they're not they're four and four right now at Kevin really back after winning three in a row now they're going to Cleveland trying to play their way right back into this NFC and divisional race the Browns lost to Kansas City last week, the coaching change didn't help very much there to six and one. You didn't give me the inflection. We're not dead yet. Exactly, right, though, Atlanta is feeling like they have some life scoring points. Matt Ryan may be playing better this year than he did his MVP season. Just all those injuries on defense hurt them early. But they're rolling a little bit and Cleveland. Good defense. Can they stop this high? Powered Matt Ryan led offense and all the weapons there. And then continue to look at the young quarterback was put in and he's starting to regress a little bit not making all the plays and bringing the same energy. He is going to have to bring that if they're going to win this game backs. The Redskins try to maintain control of the NFC east when they traveled to Tampa. This is NFL preview. In one thousand nine hundred eighty four huskies started making things for people who make things commonsense tools. They still do.

"Scott Graham from our Westwood One studios in New York is we'll get you ready for Sunday night football tonight. We have got a good one in the F C the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs, take a look at these two teams the Bengals at four and to the chiefs at five and one they are teams that are competing for the top. You assume as we head to the second half of the season in the AFC. It's exactly what Sammy Watkins told our Jason Horowitz, hopefully who plays the beat them. But you know, I'm just one guy. So. Oh. These guys. Brains. These coaches Ryan today. His heart is not going to be easy to come back on the second time. That's why we gotta go out here and get this one and casino move forward. Just stack winds on top each other one would assume it could be a track me Kansas City last week lost for the second time in team history. When scoring forty or more points as they fell to the patriots forty three to forty on the other side Cincinnati Bengals lost a heartbreaker to Pittsburgh. But as the guys we're talking about at the top things have been very good. So far for Andy Dalton and this offense. I talk with anti this week and asked whether or not it was Bill lasers. New offense now in its first full year. That's making him feel this comfortable. Yeah. I mean, I feel really confident with what we're doing. I know exactly why things are getting called. And you know, bills done a great job. And so I feel like I'm playing well cop since I feel like I understand everything that we're doing and allow us to play fast and play the best of our Billy. When you're a quarterback, and you're potentially involved in a shootout kind of game. And you know, if you look at this this could be a shootout type of game. Is there anything that changes about your mentality going in or is it just merely a matter of executing? Yeah. I think you know, you you have to execute. You have to take advantage of every possession because you know, how high powered their offense is on the other side. And so we've been shoot outs before I've see with with Atlanta feel like it was had the ball was going to win. And so fortunately for us. We we had elapsed, but you know, we've been in these types of situations. So he's gotta go play our game. You take a look at where this team is right now. And this is a team that relies no doubt on Andy Dalton what it is that he's capable of doing how much they rely on him a really interesting stat over the course of Dalton's career when you take a look at what he has done on the field. The Bengals are forty five forty five and two when he throws two or fewer touchdowns if throws three or more it jumps to twenty two and one got to go get three tonight. I guess Arrowhead, Andy we've got the Bengals and the chiefs coming up in just a bit as we continue with the game show will take a look back at what happened earlier today in week seven. You're listening to Sunday night football on.

Just stack on winds on top each other one would assume it could be a track me Kansas City last week loss for the second time in team history. When scoring forty or more points fell to the patriots forty three to forty on the other side, the Bengals lost a heartbreaker to Pittsburgh. But as the guys we're talking about the top things have been very good. So far for Andy Dalton and this offense. I talked with anti this week and asked whether or not it was Bill lasers. New offense now in its first full year that's making him feel comfortable. Yeah. I mean, I feel really confident with what we're doing. I know exactly why things are getting called. And you know, bills done a great job. And so I feel like I'm playing with a cop since I feel like I understand everything that we're doing and allow us to play fast and play the best of our ability when your quarterback, and you're potentially involved in a shootout kind of game. And you know, if you look at this this could be a shootout type of game. Is there anything that changes about your mentality going in or is it just merely a matter of executing? I think you know, you you have to execute. You have to take advantage of every possession because you know, how hard power their offense is on the other side. And so now we've been out before I see with with Atlanta feel like it was last seen had the ball was gonna win and so forth. We we had it lasts. But you know, we've been in these types of situations. So he's gotta go play our game. You take a look at where this team is right now. And this is a team that relies no doubt on Andy Dalton what it is that he's capable of doing how much they rely on him a really interesting stat over the course of Dalton's career when you take a look at what he has done out on the field. The Bengals are forty five forty five and two when he throws two or fewer touchdowns. If he throws three or more jumps to twenty two and one gotta go get three tonight. I guess at Arrowhead, Andy, we've got the Bengals and the chiefs coming up in just a bit as we continue with the pre game show will take a look back at what happened earlier today in week seven. You're listening to Sunday night football on Westwood One. Bring the world to your home for over seventy years. A.

"Scott Graham will have all the scores key highlights for week number four the NFL season. That's coming up at the half quick injury update on Darius Hayward based got a right ankle ankle injury. His return is questionable. He was in the tent getting looked at now he's in the locker room getting an x Ray. So the Steelers down one wideout at one very important factor on special teams second nine for the ravens at their own twenty four. It's only Baltimore's ninth. Play in the entire second quarter, fourteen fourteen the scores needed most from left to right. Flacco sets the throw looking for Snead over the middle. It's off his hands the pass incomplete Snead got popped after the play by Vince Williams who got up and started to look around. For a flag had a sheepishly no flag there, and it's third nine house to it. I want to stay because you see it every week if every game. Almost. O his like that. But we saw one earlier with Connor that we saw two. I will. I'll know how the world works is a big third down for Pittsburgh here to stop here for support. Go crazy Steelers still have two timeouts to work with as well. Third and nine at the twenty four flacco from the pocket holds flacco throws left side high for St. to leap somebody pulls it down took the hit any hung on at the thirty six yard line ticket the first down that's a heck of a catch. And a gain of twelve to move the chain. That's a big word catch their walls built high. You know, you have to grow up and get it. You're gonna take a hit regardless of what rules. They have is still going to take a hit at the big weekend already burns delivering the hit. But it's first down at the thirty six pressure coming in a sec but do pre came late on a blitz and do pre with his third sack of the year. The first tonight for the Steelers dropping flacco for a loss of six back to the thirty drive right there. I outside the two minute. Sixteen at the thirty clock. Running one away remaining first-half shotgun snap to flack on second sixteen. Throws a short catches made it to thirty-five across the forty down at the forty five is Jaguars Allen. Picks up fifteen of the sixteen needed. And right now the ravens back on schedule. It's third and one. Timeout taken by Baltimore. They have one remaining. Third and one at the forty five one minute remaining in this first half of a big play over the middle to Joe Varas Allen. The ravens a chance here. Fourteen fourteen. It was fourteen three ravens had all the momentum. There was not a single person standing at Heinz field ravens headed at the two yard line. When fumble occurred at the one going in for a touchdown Steelers recover it and since then it's been all Pittsburg and the Steelers instead of being down twenty one three get a field goal on the drive that followed the fumble. Now. Touchdown drive a moment ago and the ravens trying to figure out a way to answer in a tie game. Four for six on third of the ravens tonight third and one at the forty five I formation with Allen and Collins the backs of the I flacco under center gives it to Alan who's playing the fullback rolling. Alan trying to get to the forty six yard line. It's going to be close. Vince Williams makes the tackle. I'm not sure.

"Sports thirteen hundred. This is Xtra sports thirteen hundred. And you know, each other really like that as far as schemes and things I think the biggest thing for me is going to make sure I don't almost give too much information to our players were, you know, obviously know that team on a very intimate level where I kind of overdo the information of our players wearing almost paralysed on an effect. You know, they still have to go out and they thought the play, and that's really the biggest thing for us to go executed a high level and be ready to compete for sixty minutes. Head coach Matt Patricia a man with inside information as he prepares the lions for Sunday night football against his old team. The New England Patriots. Welcome back to NFL insider. I'm Scott Graham, things have been slow to start for Patricia in the lions out to an own to start and things. Don't get any easier against Tom Brady and company the unquestioned leader of the Detroit defensive backfield Glover Quin who led the league in interceptions during a Pro Bowl year in two thousand fourteen I talked this week with the man who's been saving seventy percent of his salary since he entered the league in two thousand nine and I asked him about the differences. He's seen so far in the new coaching staff and Detroit is different. But you know, we're playing football. And we're just trying to get better. I think that's the main thing which get better. We're trying to get a win. That's what I focus when you start talking about your level of experience. And I've got to imagine that this is part of it too. Because the understanding of the game the level of experience with the game. That's gotta help in terms of the recognition stuff that I guess the best way of putting this is this is the fact that, you know, a little bit more help a little bit is the body may not be quite as quick as it was ten years ago. Oh, no question. Definitely have. I'm a guy. I feel like I've always had to play with my brain. Because I've never been that bad. It's quick guy. I've always had to be the smart guy and use my brain to recognize James see things quickly understand concepts understand what's going on. And you know, be able to get to the spot. And so for me, it's definitely all about recognition timing reaction out of different things, you go up against an opponent here that clearly is one that can dominate offensively. And you've got one other factor. That's in there, which is adding a different guy to the mix. You don't know how much a guy like Josh Gordon will be used in this game. So what does that do to your level of preparation and in all honesty, just frankly, what's it like trying to prepare to face Tom Brady? Manage? There's definitely a challenge. You know, they they were very good offense. Very good system. Very good things. They do have very good quarterback was in good running backs. You get all those guys involved. So it's a it's a task just preparing for those guys, you know, prepare for Tom Brady, you know, wanted to great quarterbacks of all times. Then played a lot a lot of football. I mean, you know, played some really big games and has a really good understanding of the office and what they're trying to get done. So definitely a challenge. Know had a guy like Josh, Gordon. Not just as another aspect to it. But you know, if the NFL, you know, you have great players that you're going to get each and every week, you know, every week there's somebody else just the type of talent that we have in this league. And so, you know for us, we just gotta go out, and and and execute at a high level, regardless of who's gonna game fighting balancing life is not always the easiest thing in the world for anybody to do. And one of the things that I've noticed is that you have tried to do that in terms of the time that you've been able to spend with your family and making it very clear that when you are with your family, your with your family you and I talked last year. You were talking a little bit about the little league coaching stuff that you had done. But how difficult is that to separate the two and say, okay when I'm in football. I'm in football when I'm not a mutt. Is difficult. And as has a younger player was is a lot more difficult for me because when I was in football football. And then when I was at home, I was still kind of been football. And I've been really get to enjoy, you know, the time that I have with my family because I was still kind of thinking about football and thinking about football, and the older I got it was just like man, like, I really I really do need that that balance a need that time a need that you know. That's been around my family and not you know, thinking about football. So, you know, kind of grow grew and grew and then I had some coaches, and that thing was, you know, be where you are. You know, if you have football football and focus in on football practice. That's be a practice and focused in practice. And when you go home be at home. And so they kinda played a big role for me. And you know, over the years, I just got better at it. Last thing you and I talked about this last year. And I kind of wish that when I had started my professional career. Somebody had told me about spending thirty percent of what I make in saving the other seventy percent, which is something you've done since the beginning of your football career. So my question is I'm trying to catch up now on my retirement account any suggestions, you can give me about trying to catch up. Oh, man. I don't know. I could give you about catching. That was the one thing that you wanna do, you know, I didn't want to have to catch up. To be ahead. So that's a hard thing to do is catch up. You don't you don't get those years back. And that's the mistake that I feel like a lot of people make you know. Just starting late guys in you come into the league your twenty one twenty two. And then you don't really get serious about your saving till you're twenty eight you've missed out on six years. You don't you? Don't get those six years of savings back. Everybody's not going to be fortunate enough to get a seventy eighty million dollar deal. But you just don't get those years back. So I don't know any advice to teach you how to catch up. I have to do research on that one next act a couple of people eight how do you get up? We'll work on that next time. Thanks so much. Good luck. The rest of the way. All right wins balanced attitude in level head have served him. Well, a fourth round draft pick has become one of the best. And apparently Sunday richest safeties in the game. So then I football on Westwood One. The patriots in Lyons. Our coverage begins at seven thirty PM eastern time with NFL Sunday next up. It's Mike Holmgren. This is NFL insider. Catch Tiki and Tierney in the afternoon, if you've ever had a chance to buy a really nice suit, you look at it on the rack in the fabrics grace, but looks good. How ever Taylor's gotta maybe take it in a little bit. That's what Sam darnold is Sam darnold is a suit that is going to be among the most desired suits in the store in a couple of years comeback. The turnaround was what.

"I'm Scott Graham week wanted the NFL season means the return of Sunday night football. And we have a good one on many of these same stations the bears Packers from Lambeau Field in Green Bay. And while most of the focus for Chicago has been strengthening in already. Potent defense with the acquisition of Khalil Mack. The bears offense is hoping to take another big step forward behind quarterback Mitch Trubisky and the healthy return of guard. Kyle long the same Kyle long whose brother Chris has now won back to back Super Bowls with two different teams. When I talked to Kyle this week, I asked if that might have produced a little bit of sibling jealousy. I'm definitely excited for my brother. But at the same time, we're trying to earn our stripes over here in Chicago. And you know, you can't really compare. You just got to try to do your best to prepare for the season. And hopefully, get another Lombardi trophy here in Chicago. It is an amazing thing to be able to do and accomplish what he did. And for your family too. I mean, the fact that you know, you guys grew up in football. That's gotta make it that much more special doesn't it? Yeah. It's really special. I mean, obviously being around the game for so long. And getting the grope around the league you understand how important how challenging and difficult. It is to to win in this league. And to see him go through and have those successes. It's been really inspirational for me, and you know, obviously getting to see him in the playoffs is awesome, Houston, Saint Louis were wild didn't have the opportunity to to get to the playoffs. But now with him being with the patriots. And now the eagles it's been fun. When you look at you going into this season. It took a lot to get you here. You had a lot that you had to get fixed up before you were ready to even get ready for camp or or preseason games three offseason surgeries. I mean, clearly that's something that I would assume takes its toll. How soon did you feel like you're back to one hundred percent, you know, the positive about having those those things done in the off season. Was you know, it was a long time coming up I try to play a physical brand of football. And that takes toll on your body. And I didn't. Really do much to alleviate some of those bumps and bruises that required repairs for the first four or five years and then this off season I had some time to get it taken care of and the team had my back one hundred percent. I've been able to come back and be healthy. Kyle. I don't know the people who don't play the game understand. You know, there's obviously a lot that goes into being a player in the National Football League. The frustration level of not being able to play when you're a competitor. Because you're injured. Can you talk a little bit about that? Yeah. The one thing you never wanna be be a burden to other guys on your team. And when you're taking up a roster spot, and when you're being counted on to make blocks and make things happen as a player, and you can't do that. Because your physical situation. It's one of the hardest things to deal with physically and mentally as a football player. And you just have to do everything you can to take a one day at a time and try to win each day and get back on the field to be able to help your guys. You guys said yourself a new quarterback had kid quarterback last year, who's got all kinds of talent. And we saw some highs. We saw a couple of lows that's gonna come along with the first year quarterback. What was your segment of what we saw at Mitch Trubisky? And where this is going. I just think as you said, he's an extremely talented guy. He's wise beyond his years. And he's he's very mature. You somebody that commands a lot of respect in the locker room through his actions. Not only the things that he says, but he acts on his his words as well. And you know, obviously, like I like I mentioned earlier, he's very talented. So there's there's a lot of things that we're looking forward to seeing out of number ten is your new head coach going to be a shot in the arm for him. And for this offense of unit. You know, I think it's it's always good to have somebody who who's played the position before. So I think him in coach Nagy of had a great relationship, and it's been that way since day one. When you take a look at your team. The biggest headline that was coming into week. One was the addition of one of the great defensive players in the league and the trader of Khalil Mack. I've got to imagine that even though it's not your side of the ball being able to say that you've got that added to a defense that was very good last year. That's gotta be creating some buzzing excitement. Yeah. I mean, there's there's no way you see you can't be excited when a guy like Khalil Mack comes into the building. He's a physical specimen. He somebody that dominates football game. So we're really lucky to have him. And we're happy to not be playing against him anytime soon. We're talking with the Chicago Bears. Kyle log you start out the season going up against the opponent. That is the oldest opponent for the bears in obviously big game inside the division right out of the blocks. When you start talking about what you guys do going hand to hand with the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers coming back, and it looks like healthy again talk a little bit about that match up bears. Packers man, it's it's the storied rivalry in the NFL longest robbery in the NFL. You know, people talk about Baltimore. And Pittsburgh people talk about you know, there's others match ups. But at the end of the day, it's it's bears Packers, and that's what the NFL is all about. And we're excited to get the season started and who better to play than the Green Bay Packers. When you're on the sideline and you're across the field from a guy like an Aaron Rodgers knowing what your defense is trying to do to see if they can figure out a way to shut him down. I've got to imagine that as a player as somebody who grew up understanding the league, you have a pretty fair idea of what you're facing there, which is truly one of the best in the game. Yeah there. There are many players that you leave the bench area to go watch from the opposing team most amount of respect for Erin. And the things that he's done in Green Bay. He's been a lot of fun to watch. And he's somebody that has excelled at a very very very high rate. To be able to watch him. It's it's pretty cool. You know, it's one of those things. But at the end of the day he's on the Packers and we've got a plan. So we gotta go try to beat them. I've talked to a lot of Packers over the years about what it's like playing at Lambeau as a member of the home team. What's it like being on the road at Lambeau? You know, they have great fans, and you you can talk passionate. They are just as fans are for the bears. The Packers are as well. They take full ownership of the fact that they have home field advantage. And they make a lot of noise, and they come out in big numbers there in in Green Bay. One of the things I've always noticed about you over the course of time and your NFL career is that you've been very up front standup. A guy who is going to take on questions answered them answer them in a way that that makes sense. You're not going to give a Pat answer you're going to speak from the heart. How much of that comes from the way you grew up. How much of that really comes from dad? I've learned a lot from from the things that he's he said to me my dad over the years. But the the biggest thing is just being able to watch him the way that he goes through life and the way treats people, I think that's first foremost the way treat people is really the big talent as to your character. And you know, he's a good, man. And I I couldn't pick anybody else out. Wanna learn from Kyle? Thanks so much for your time. Really do appreciate it. Good luck. Thanks a lot. Take it easy. At Chicago Bears guard Kyle.

"And scott graham from our westwood one studios in new york are sunday night game on many of these same stations has his pittsburgh steelers five into now on the year despite all of the soap opera stuff going on and now they go into the motor city to take the detroit lions coming off a by detroit trying to find their offense again and i could be an easy thing to do against the pittsburgh steelers past he threats it's as the world's turns in pittsburgh these days whether it's levy on bell crime that he should get the ball more antonio brown should be thrown the ball more ben roethlisberger saying you know i don't know if i have it let me just tell you i can make an argument that they are the best team in the afc and the reason i can make that argument is because they haven't played their best game yet and their defense is getting better each and every week so one it all comes together whatever that may be and maybe it will be this week in detroit they will be a very formidable team they will make the playoffs they will win the afc north assuming everybody stays health in of of course ben roethlisberger stay southie on the other side to in a row now detroit has lost they have lost four games this year are they have not played good offense away and i suspect that they are really going to struggle here against the pittsburgh steelers defense his plan at a very very high level so with all the drama going on out there and martavis bryant most likely being the activated for this game i still like the steelers because it seemed like the more drama the better they apply and they usually come away with a win indianapolis colts go into since you to take on the bengal is now the calls get shut out last week by jacksonville that sacked ten times now they go on the road against another dynamic defense in cincinnati comes back home with two and four needing a win after their loss in pittsburgh last week boy did they get beat down in the second half bill re introduce themselves into the wind calm this week i think that they will destroy this team uh the indianapolis colts are lost he may have no confidence on offense kobe percent is really struggling and so is their offense of.
