One was the three alarm fire at the arrive apartment complex in Silver Spring that led to the death of a 25 year old woman, Goldstein said the fire was accidental that electronics candles and smoking materials were present, but that an exact cause may never be determined. He said, a number of things allowed that fire to grow, including open doors that fed the fire and funneled smoke into the stairwells. Goldstein said a final report is underway, but gave no date when it might be completed. Kate Ryan, WTO pnew, Sue people are in the hospital after a shooting in prince George's county just blocks away from suitland high school. Police say it happened just before 4 o'clock this afternoon on Brooks drive near Pennsylvania avenue. A man and woman were shot, no students were hurt. The man ran into suitland high for help and was later taken to the hospital, he is expected to be okay. The woman had more severe wounds and was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Police say no one at the high school was involved in the shooting, no one's been arrested and there aren't any suspects. There is widespread support for installing metal detectors inside Alexandria city schools. Now, that's according to a new survey of more than 4000 members of the community, about 85% of survey participants supported using weapons screening in at least some schools 58% say they want the detectors in every school. Crews rescue 2 from plane caught in power lines in Maryland
"Investigators are looking into why a small plane crashed in Maryland on Sunday. The small plane had left White Plains New York and was near the Montgomery county, Maryland air park in Gaithersburg, when it crashed into live power lines trapping two people inside and knocking out power to thousands in the area. Before first responders could rescue the two, utility contractors had to disconnect the high tension wires. So it would be safe for the rescuers and responders had to stabilize the plane and then the rescue. Montgomery county fire chief Scott Goldstein. Both patients have been transported from the scene to local area trauma centers. With serious injuries. But both are expected to survive. He talked to W JLA TV, state police identify the two as pilot Patrick Merkel of Washington, D.C., and passenger Janet Williams of Louisiana, both in their 60s. I'm Rita foley

It's a very hazy evening and you can barely make it out, but it's roughly a hundred feet in the air suspended in these power lines next to a large tower that holds up these power lines. We were just given a briefing by Montgomery county fire chief Scott Goldstein, who tells us that they're waiting for additional resources to come here because they basically have a lot of work to do to get this situation resolved. We're told that maybe in the next 30 or 45 minutes or so it'll get additional cruise here so they can start this long process of rescuing the two people who are said to be up in this plane. It's going to start by having this plane actually secured to one of the towers. So the plane won't move while they're trying to rescue people, then they're going to bring in a very large crane they said and presumably try to resolve things that way. I'm at the goshen Plaza shopping center for those who are familiar in Montgomery village and there are dozens of people out here along with me looking at this plane suspended in the wires as we wait to see what rescuers are going to do here. John have officials said anything about the condition of the people aboard and whether they're in communications with them. It was around ten 30, Thursday morning when a police canine unit alerted to possible human remains near the top of the rubble of unit 8 26. County fire and rescue chief Scott Goldstein says that doesn't tell them who or where this person was. Because of the blast because of the upheaving of the building and then the explosion itself until we have the means of identifying that person, we don't know where that person was from.
