"Stimulus and government spending bills. You touched on a great point Congressman, which was that the government in this case, the Republican governor of the state of Indiana. Is the person or the Mayor Joe Hogs that in Indianapolis or now Mayor Scott fatness and fissures. These are the people who did the damage. Do you go to like Tanya because Todd Young's out campaigning for Eric Holcomb, and go Wait a second. Pick a side, dude, You know if if the If you stop shutting things down, you don't need the stimulus money. I mean, it just seems like there's total disconnect. Even amongst Republicans in Washington. It is a disconnect again, if if if if we reopen our economy and stop with the draconian measures that affecting the lives of working people, Um then that's the best recipe for Economic growth. No Indiana's economic growth is climbing and And I was good. It was glad to see those numbers earlier this week, miss if there's six in the country, and, uh, in returning economic growth to our state, so that that's that's good news. Um, it could be better. It tells us it could be even better. Robin. If we If we reopen the economy if we avoided some of the some of the long term A mandate to measures that have been taken by the way I'm I have claws talkto a number of state representatives of state senators in my district. I applaud their efforts, and they go back to the State House starting next week to rein in the The powers of the governor to met the institute. Some of these mandates without legislative approval that we should all applaud our state legislators. We're going to go to the State House next week with that mindset. To do that, because if this ever happens again, Power shouldn't rest in one individual's hands to take sis traffic measures that we've seen taken that bet of what 111 or two out of five restaurants. The state of Indiana have closed permanently and that that affects the I have someone who has family members who run restaurants. I mean that that affect the livelihood of people who have built up their life savings and invested it. It's not business, a lot of other small businesses that have been affected, too. So that's the sad that's the sad part of the story that $600 check of $2000 check. Isn't going to fix what's gonna fix. It is reopening America. Okay, so have two very important questions Only have time for one right now. So the first one is. Can you hang with us for another segment? Because I have something very, very, very important to ask you. Yes, I will. Okay, perfect. All right. So then the question to get you to the break. Here is what's going on with the Indiana Republican Party because it seems like we have seen a drift away from certainly the Daniels administration and and you served in the house or in the in the state Legislature as a as a, uh, senator, and you know what it's like to put together meaningful tax reform, meaningful reduction of government. Meaningful things that make people's lives better. It seems like in a minute or less a beacon split. Explain this. How we went from Daniels to the whole come. Hup for era. What's going on? Well, I mean, I remember Mitch Mitch Daniels so eloquently said that the Republican Party is the party of purpose. Then we got Mike Pence of you know who is rooted in a conservative foundation and conservative values and fought for them, And I mean, Rob, I couldn't do my part and at the national level it gave Chairman of Republican Study Committee, the largest conservative caucus in Congress, and I'm fighting and building a conservative agenda. The Republicans can rally around in this uncertain Time were, you know we were where we will no longer have President Trump in the White House and conservatives got to rally around an agenda. I believe it's the trump agenda that we rally around. Maybe President Trump taught us how to fight. Or an agenda for working people and Republicans need we need. We need to point to that. We need to point to that agenda focused on it for the Sierra Head. All right, Congressman Jim Banks are guess he's graciously agreed to stay with us for another segment. Don't go anywhere. Have a super super super important question to ask him, But first, I have an important question for you, Matt Bear. With roads. Well, Rob, we're not doing horribly here at the moment. Westbound 70. "Cards to these businesses. Then he's going to give it a nice fuzzy feel good name called the 2000. Acts of kindness, and he's going to pay people for doing nice stuff that they would do anyway. Did I miss anything here? This stuff happens all the time in local government. Because of the local level being liked matters to people. Being liked being revered matters to these people because they live there and look, we've talked about it before how with stimulus. It's completely gross and what these people are doing, but it matters even Maura the local level. And I see this all the time where the local elected officials realized they can use other people's money at the federal level of the state level, thereby and support right. They're buying their power at the local level. They're buying friends who's got fatness. What a nice guy. He spent $100,000 to promote kindness in the community, as though Scott fatness is actually spending his own money off course he's not. He's spending your money. We talked about it last Thursday. And if I'm wrong, Scott fatness find me. You know where to reach me. I'm right here. 40 Monument Circle. This guy hadn't given up a dime. He hasn't given up a dime of his money. They take the money that they've already the stolen from you. And then they give it back, arbitrarily picking winners and losers and go look at what we've done. Look at the 2000 acts of kindness. The 2000 acts of kind of this radio station raised over $350,000 for the Salvation Army. You know how much extra we got paid to do that the air staff here the countless people behind the scenes who work to make that happen? Zero You know why we did that? Because it was the right thing to do. We don't need a gift card for acts of kindness. We don't need taxpayer money for acts of kindness. We did it because we love the city. I mean, we think in in the political world in which we live political government world we live No, no. Sports is the ultimate reaction and in many cases over reactionary event and so you don't want to use the phrase fireable offense. But Wow, if you're the Indianapolis Colts of your Frank Reich, That was a very, very, very bad loss yesterday and Coming up a little later in the program. By the way, it's 93 WNBC. The Pacers are on fire so whole lot to get to today We got Trump signing the stimulus bill we've got now the Bidens getting closer and closer to coming in. The Democrats can help themselves. They're all in on the abortion fight. We've got some updated information on this Nashville bomber and that pesky mayor of Fishers Good old Scott Fatness. Of course he is. He is on a quest to destroy businesses in the city of Fisher's with his government shutdown mandates and well now, apparently, there was some backlash. No, he's trying to. He's trying to buy happiness in the city of Fisher's. This is total government story. So much more so much to get to picking up a prescription and emptying my pockets. You must have old health insurance. Huh? You know, they may cover your medications. But humanity is that and more human care, searching for cheaper options for you Always. You don't even have to ask. "The fives, Follow us on Twitter and Wi be sea traffic. Going to hit a high of 27 today. In fact, we've done it alot of 13. It is cold couple days coming up, including Christmas Day, just a high of 19 degrees. Girlies has said it 27 in the American Standard heating Weather Center. Our time is 7 46, continuing our conversation about the despicable behavior from the mayor of Fisher Scott Fatness. 93 WNBC Rob Kendall in for Tony Cats. Good morning. Merry Christmas Eve producer Alison doing a great job on the board as well and we sort of couple segments on this, but it's so it's so important. And whether you live and fissures or not, you need to wake up and pay attention. Because it will come to where you're at. And what I'm talking about, of course, is the edict from the mayor of fissures that bars and restaurants will close at 10 P.m. beginning Christmas Day through January. And this is a key time for so many of those places who have fought so hard. And valiantly and courageously to stay afloat to stay open to continue to pay, rent or pay property taxes to continue to employ people so that they can earn a living. Business owners throughout and next hour. We're gonna get into heroes because there's a lot of people who are heroes and have been heroes in 2020, but business owners are right at the top. Specifically bar and restaurant owners. Because what the government has done to them and the burdens the undue burdens government has placed on them. It is nothing short of heroic to have stayed in business and this edict from Scott Fatness for no reason whatsoever or other than his own power. Has an and will prove to be in many cases horrific for these businesses to the point where many may not make it out of this. This is prime earning time this time of year. And business owners who have proven themselves to be responsible stewards of the public Trust who have taken public health very seriously throughout this have earned the right to stay open. Not that they needed to own the right from the government to stay open, but they've earned it. They've gone above and beyond time and time and time again. They're zero reason for this to be happening. There's zero science that shows you that at 10 03. Corona virus becomes more dangerous than it is at 8 38 or 7, 38 or 6, 33 or any other time. This is gross behavior, but it shouldn't be. It's not unexpected, and I warned you about this during the election. One of the reasons that I was so adamant that people send a message to Eric Holcomb in the Indiana Republican Party. Woz that this if a message was not sent This sort of behavior would begin to spring up down down the totem pole. Down the totem pole. And in the case of someone Scott like Scott van this who's a career government guy who has envisioned himself If you read the Scott Fatness Bio and M O. I mean what he started in Fisher's, I think like in 2006 is an intern. And to his credit, and I think Scott badness and are pretty close in age. I think he may be a year or two older than me. To his credit by 2011 had warmed his way into being the town manager and then within what 43 or four years had created a city status by which you could become mayor. I mean, Scott badness. If you're someone who who desires to be a government lifer and elected life for a power pants, throw my weight around on other people. Lifer like Scott fact us apparently is. He's a huge success story from by within what? Eight years He basically created a city status of what you could be Mayor. He invented a job. What the hell of a deal But the message when we get back to the election, what we talked about Was that if Eric Holcomb succeeded, and Eric Holcomb by his standards did succeed now, hundreds of thousands of conservatives and Republicans walked away from the Indiana Republican Party, which was great. The problem was, they were replaced by Democrats and Biden voters. Who voted for Eric Holcomb because they liked the heavy hand of government. It was very clear Poll after poll after poll leading up to the election showed that as much as 20% of Eric Holcomb voters were Joe Biden voters, people who liked a governor who would threaten to put you in jail if you didn't wear a mask. People who like the idea of government denying the ability of people to earn a living. And and I warned you that the danger of this would be especially from the establishment wing of the Indiana Republican Party and people like Scott Fatness who desire to move up the totem pole. Is that they would see a rule over reward for bad behavior. And if you continue to reward atrocious behavior, and in the case of Eric Holcomb, there's no doubt now again. He needed a whole bunch of Democrats. But Eric Okay, as they say in sports baby, a win's a win's a win. It doesn't matter whether you win by one point or 10 points or how you win in politics if you have no core set of beliefs. Into which Eric Holcomb in the Indiana Republican Party, the establishment wing. Do not. They've proven it time and time again, they've raised taxes, time and time and time again. There's no course set of values for the Indiana Republican Party anywhere other than power. And I told you the danger and this was not just Eric Holcomb. But these wannabe Eric Holcomb's these people like Scott Fatness who yearned to continue to move up the political totem pole. And the message that was sent to people like Scott Fatness was the shutdown, sir. Fine. Shutdowns or okay, you keep going. If you desire to move up, this is the way to get there. And to Scott Batons, discredit a month and a half. And he and he ain't waiting around. He ain't beating around the bush And don't kid yourself. Scott Fatness desperately wants to be governor of the state of Indiana someday. His whole life has been about moving up the political totem pole, and that's the next move. In four years, there's gonna be a big dog fight for the Indiana Republican Party. There'll be people will probably get in like Jim banks on the conservative side, and then they'll be a whole bunch of establishment people who want to be the next Eric Holcomb. Suzanne crowds, Lieutenant Governor Kyle Hup for the party chair and and right hand, man. The Holcomb may get in, and Scott fatness may get in, and this is what you get. It's coming true again. And you know how I hate being right. You know how I hate.

"We will see a high of 27 today, which were already at and then a hive just 19 degrees tomorrow. So be careful. If you're out there on the roads, chances roads could be slick used caution. Currently 27 degrees in the American Standard heating weather Center. Time is 7 36 Nights a roasting on an open fire, continuing our conversation about this for us really sick action by the mayor Fisher Scott Fatness 93 WNBC. Rob Kendall in for Tony Cats. Good morning. Merry Christmas Eve. Thanks for joining us, and course we're talking about this just completely ridiculous decision by the mayor of fissures. Scott fatness to to say that beginning on 10:10 P.m. Christmas Day through January, 8th bars and restaurants in the city of fissures are ordered to close at 10 P.m.. And this is a money moment for bars and restaurants at a time or they desperately need money Moments. And what Scott fatness is doing will probably be a death now for many establishments now there may be some of the survive and it may take a while for the dust to settle on this, But this is a Um This is a horrific decision that will cost many businesses, their existence and many people their employment and we come back to his quote in Indy Star, which says he's doing this to quote cartel risky behavior. In the middle of a pandemic when our infection rates are soaring. I would like to know what science says that a 10 to 1. A Applebee's becomes more dangerous than an Applebee's at 8:38 P.m.. Or 9:38 P.m.. I'd love to know. What science shows the mayor of fissures. That this is happening. And by the way, Scott Scott, If you know Scott fatness if Scott fatness is listening Won't be in all next week. Big guy. Will be in all next week. Six down every single day. And I am willing if this is so important If your science is so resolute If your science is so ironclad, I will give you a whole hour. You pick the time you pick the day any day next week, and you be You want seven o'clock date o'clock? Fine. You want eight o'clock to nine o'clock? Fine. I'd be willing to give you a whole hour coming here, Big guy and you explain to us what's going on. You want to be a tough guy with businesses you wanna push around and bully businesses? You do it with me. You do it with me, because what you're doing what Scott Fatness is doing his gross. What Jo Hogg said has done for nine months is gross. When Eric Holcomb has done for nine months is gross. Nine people the ability to earn a living a second. It's disgusting. These business owners, these restaurant bar owners have busted their behinds for nine months. Try to stay afloat. Don't we try to stay afloat to keep everyone safe, and for the most part they have done it, then date out of New York shows it 2% of some, like 2% of coronavirus cases are traced back to bars and restaurants. That's it. Business owners have been heroes, and next time we're gonna talk about heroes because there's been many of them over the past nine months, and business owners and specifically bar and restaurant over owners have been heroes. In this fight of Corona virus to try to stay open to try to keep people working. And when things like this happen And they don't happen in a vacuum, and I'm going to need a little bit more time to talk about why it's happening, and I think it's I think this is so important. What's going on in Fisher's right now? And if nobody fights back and does something about it, it's gonna have a ripple effect. Business owners have been through hell and back, Scott fatness. They've been through hell and back. And I want to know what what restaurant and bar owners did you consult? Who did you sit down and talk to and talk with? Or have you like politicians throughout the Whole Corona virus pandemic. Just not giving a damn That cared at all. How much money of his check is Scott fatness given back? That's what I want to know. You know, we're all in this together, Right? Shared sacrifice. How much of your benefits? How much of your paycheck If you give in to these people that you are putting out of work, sir? It's not coronavirus, that Z killing these businesses That's killing these employees that you There's no science whatsoever that shows a 10 01 Corona virus is more dangerous than it is any 38. You know it. So when we come back, I won't tell you what Scott fatness is up to, and I'm gonna tell you why it matters. Because this whole past election I warned you about this, and it's already starting to talk about it. Next. "Is a man. This may be my fifth year of doing the Christmas Eve morning show. You think when you finally get your job, by the way, a little behind the scenes of how radio works. You think when you get your own show this true story When they told me they said, Okay, Daisy's leaving. We'd like to be the mock and Rob Show now. Would you like to have the show? And I said, sure. And as most of you know, I am I love radio and look to my employers credit they have abused and taken advantage. Big time of my love of radio. And so when I took this this full time show, which by the way, uh as of January, 4th, the mock and Rob Show will be now nine to noon here in 93, WNBC. When I took this job, I had one request. I said, Yeah. Oh, yeah, This would be great. I love it. I'm so excited. I said they said, Well, we still may need to do some some filling stuff, because, well, Rob Kendall. He's so wildly popular. Why wouldn't people wanna hear Rob Kendall? I said that's fine. I said no problem. I said, I just have one request And they said, Well, what is that? And I said, please don't make me to the morning show anymore. Because it's so darn early. I said, I have no problem doing afternoon show with Hammer, Nigel, I'll stay here all day. It's fine. Whatever. Please don't make me do the morning show anymore because that just Rex, you're as producer Alison, You can agree, right? "On in the city other than the controversies around the prime rate, particularly of which the mayor's proposal, the announcing the state of the city address to work with trying to collaborate. What's surrounding communities? Whether it's Noblesville Fisher. Greenfield Avon Brown's Berg Johnson county. You name it as a way to tackle infrastructure problems. And so I asked him what he thought about his approach about the mayor's approach to our infrastructure from his particular version of a regional perspective, will first of all, we've been working on regional issues regional ideas for some time now, and he looked at the regional cities of program that we did. We did not put it in the budget this year, but has really helped. Really helped communities like south bend, and Fort Wayne in Evansville, grow, and they took those forty four or forty two dollars and, and matched it and had explosive explosion of growth in, in so regional government has done very, very well of the RDA up in northwest. Indiana's fourteen years old now. They accumulate twenty seven million dollars, ten million from major moves and, and have done a good job of lurching forward and having developed both Lake County in porter county. Now, the mayor. Oh, he's troubled you. You have to if you're going to present an idea that is a regional whereas, you have someone other than yourself, you have other mayors, you have other county councils, you have other governance in Donut communities. You have to speak to them. You have to communicate you have to be hopefully on the same page or somewhere within earshot. And, and this idea that he had is half-baked. It's a, it's almost I called it a go fund on Tony cats. I call it a gofundme infrastructure plan because all we're doing is asking for money and you have to have more than just a commuter tax. I've never supported a commuter tax and, and. A regional development thority really is now only infrastructure. It's homeland security. It's economic development could be education might be other issues. And so it's imperative that the Senate in Annapolis have a mayor who likes to collaborate who likes the convene who likes to coalesce who likes to communicate and, and those are the essence of a regional development authority. And we're we have been working on it in the legislature. Mayor fatness got fatness mayor Cuckmere hawk mayor Myers. Mayor brainer will be a part of it. And hopefully soon to be mayor Jensen from those vilmaier Disler has been part of it. Everybody's been conversing about this, and I'm here to tell you. They were just stoned surprised by the mayor's suggestion here. Bottom line is infrastructure. Needs to be discussed and but a regional development thirty there has to be something for everybody. A good deal means everybody benefits, and we need to take this concept and work with Scott fatness, and the rest of the mayors of central Indiana to. Create..

"Hurriedly enjoy by our city or by our neighbors, rather, it would seek to dedicate a portion of future income tax growth to regional infrastructure fund. That was mayor Joe hog set at the state of the city address, saying, commuter tax, now, he didn't call it a commuter tax. The idea would be to get the surrounding counties to come together with Marian and Vern existing tax pool. Take a portion of the first percent put that into a pool and then distribute that based on road needs. I called it a commuter tax Tony cats. Ninety-three WIBC. Good morning, Jim Merritt joined us right now, a state Senator, of course, candidate for mayor. Merritt. M. E R, I T T merit for indie dot com. You're on the record talking about what it is that mayor hawks proposed. I call it a commuter tax. Is it a commuter tax morning Tony? You know, it's kind of interesting, it's kind of like a go fund me, infrastructure tax, and I it I've never supported infrastructure tax for the regional counties or cities. It is it is the commuter tax and one thing that I think everybody needs knows this regional development authority this regional idea governance. It's good idea. We did regional seas for a couple of years and had some great results northwest Indiana's had a regional development, thirty fourteen years. It did not come quickly. They all had to work together. Porter lake and all the cities up there had to work together. Get the confidence of the legislature gift, the confidence of the governor, and they were lucky that they had Mitch Daniels, as governor two thousand five and, and this does not just appear, and we've been working on this with mayor Scott fatness and, and Representative. Todd Houston and Senate Bill five sixty five this last year. So this isn't something that's new. But it's something that I it's like a deal. I if somebody both parties something good out of deal. It's not a good deal. Well, one of the things that's got fatness, the mayor of Fisher said is that this, this concept from the mayor's perplexing, because it goes against some of the conversations they have been having, but it's a very interesting idea this idea of being regional we often refer to ourselves as central Indiana, as opposed to just the idea of, of Indianapolis. Do the Donut counties have an interest in building up and being part of the region. Is that is there a question of lost autonomy there? Well, I've talked with all the mayor's. I've talked to the state representatives state senators of central Indiana, and they think the concept is solid. However, I think we need to talk about homeland security when he talked about economic development. We need to talk about infrastructure and just the vibe. Ability of the region. This region now has to compete with the rest of Indiana. We have got to compete with other regions of the United States, and in RDA, Ken make us competitive, however, you have to talk to your neighbors. You have to collaborate, you got to communicate so you don't have an issue with the idea of being a working as a region. But on this subject, the idea of Indianapolis, roads, you're not in favor of working as a region. Why is that? Well, I think I like I said, it's it's homeland security. It's, it's economic development and its infrastructure. I think for the people here, it's about potholes in the roads that give people like myself and you and everybody else listening, flat tires. Why can't we work together raise some bucks in and do that? Well, I think that you can do that. But you have to have a plan in working with everybody before you just kinda strike out on your own, first of all the legislature, the governor most of the rest of Indiana. The ninety one counties expect Indianapolis to take care of themselves. And we have to figure out exactly what our problem is. So we can slay the problem and having a reevaluation of all the streets of Indianapolis is the first step talking to Jim Merritt state Senator candidate for mayor for Indianapolis the website. Merritt. M. E. R I, T T merit for indie dot com. You've, I only would hope of taking a look at the situation here in Indianapolis, you've talked about potholes. You've had press conferences about potholes Republican members of the Indianapolis city county council have said shame on you for making potholes a front and center campaign issue. Do you regret making potholes? They campaign issue, not in the least, I think our infrastructure is incredibly important. It's one or four or five responsibilities of the mayor in the city county council. If you are driving. Meridian street and you see enormous pothole. You will see bricks that is not a good foundation for a heavily traveled street like Meridian street. It is it, you have to pick up the snow. You make sure the trash is picked up. And number one, you've got to make sure by safe. However, you also need a strong really powerful infrastructure, and it has to be growing not only that, that you have to maintain it, but you have to prevent the problems in, if, if the mayor had prevented these problems by seal cracking, and, and as well as stripped patching last summer in the previous summer, we wouldn't be running into these problems today, thaws and freezes. That's what people tell me are they say thaws and freezes it's going to happen in a in a environment? Like ours in a in a climate, like ours, and it's just something after.

"The red line is an absolutely, positively terrible idea? Absolutely. A miserable terrible idea. And now, yes, they are thinking about the purple line and the blue line and everything else. Oh, they don't stop interesting. Don't quit. And they sure as hell don't care about you. They don't care about your traffic problems. They don't care whether or not people are gonna use it. This makes them feel good. It's like do guttering. It's nonsense, Tom. I appreciate the call. Where are you on a commuter tax? No. Why should other counties for local rodents? Major roads people use not understate major relative to get into it. Why should the other nine Marion county red diaper? Sidewalk improved with all this other the local. That is so there there's no connection to people who drive downtown for work to utilize downtown for, for a Colt for Pacers for the India Levin for the Indianapolis Indians for Helberg circle theater. Things like that. Coming down to spend their money on local businesses. Tax. That's Tom right there. Tom's not wrong. Tom brings up an interesting point you're already paying they're already paying in, in a in a host of ways. The already paying in a host of ways, and I think you'll follow up question could be. Why just the why does the Donna counties? Why stop there could be an interesting question. We still have an address the fact that we've got roads issue, but we'll get to that soon enough. We will absolutely get to that soon enough. John, I appreciate the call. Where are you on the commuter tax in which part of central Indiana, are yen? Morning tony. I am in south east Hamilton county less than a mile from the, the open border, Indianapolis mortars. So you see that as your biggest problem, open borders, people have been always trying to sneak in. Mess. Exactly. I'm against it for a lot of different reasons. I see what hogs doing kind of an opening salvo to regionalization of governments. I think that's a whole March issue. The other questions I would have for him. How are you going to tap into visitors? Who also use our infrastructure. And also, what about Trotter is who come into liver goods and take away? It seems to me. There's a simple answer might be as simple as tweaking before, and your state collects in, in gas tax revenue and getting a little bit more each township for mogul mogul, roads now to funny. You bring about the regionalization because I you're the first person bring that up, and I think it's a very good point. What it ties into is a statement from mayor, Scott fatness officiers wish TV has got the reporting, and mayor fatness is statement is. And I'm quoting on. Plex by mayor hogs. That's proposal that is not consistent with the work the central Indiana conference of elected officials has been doing collectively over the last year. Why agree that regionalism is important? I believe we need to find a solution that will transcend political seasons. And ensure the long-term sustainability of our region. Now, I think the basic translation of that is bite me. Listen, I'm not an expert I think that's what he said. But I don't the first time I've ever heard central Indiana conference of elected officials, regionalism is something that's been going on for a while in terms of conversations we have, and you heard it most recently in the conversation of Amazon, right? Amazon was about doing something for the central Indiana region. I don't know if I'm opposed to that. You're the first person to bring that up in into away, and I'm not I'm not angry with your in any way. It's rather interesting. The idea of the negative that this is not something that we necessarily want why we got a better defined figure out of it something that will you want. But if we're talking about, you know, furthering out some kind of unity of concept. That's pretty interesting. That's very interesting. I had not put my mind to that one. At all, Cory, I appreciate the phone call Corey where which part central Indiana. Are you in and what do you think of commuter tax? I live in marrying.

"Shelvin fifteen. Thank you for tuning in tonight to primary election coverage on ninety three WIBC. Eric Berman and came shabas going to go first to you guys and talk about the races that have already been called. Obviously, Matt gentry is going to be the Republican candidate in Lebanon and heels just waiting to see if there is going to be an opponent for the general election. There got some other races. That are either pretty close to being called or have been called at this point to one more. We can call up the road in Kokomo in both parties where great good night, the democratic mayor is retiring Tyler Moore, who's a county. Commissioner in Howard county, easily winning the Republican primary ninety two ten. Percent of the democratic side. He will face the president of the United way of Howard county, Abby Smith she was that when fifty eight to forty two percent over a former police captain Kevin summers. So that's the match up in Kokomo of Matt gentry as you mentioned winning with forty eight percent of the vote to thirty one percent for the county treasurer of the ger, and we've we are calling without calling. The Jamir Joe hogs. It matchup only two percent of the vote in their. They are both of course, overwhelming favorites at the moment, they are leading overwhelmingly with more than eighty percent of the vote a piece, you know, what in the world happened there with all the sudden we went from forty something percent being reported. They probably just a technical glitch because we're dealing with new software new technology because remember this is the first time in American when we switch from precinct's vote centers. So the the numbers come in get process a little differently and sometimes people have issues with bandwidth. Let's just put it was just put it that way. Something however answered to get by. Hands on are a handful numbers out of karma. We don't have percentages yet. But as Eric bull testified the Hamilton county is necessarily the the fastest people in the world to get numbers information out. So we have to use other legitimate means in the race for Carmel mayor trainer two thousand thirty six votes. Fred Glenn one thousand six hundred and eighty nine and Fisher, Scott fatness, sixteen hundred seventeen his phone day one thousand and three and Christians, and leading the pack the race for Noblesville on nearly sixteen hundred votes in his closest challenger once might corporate is about twelve hundred and fifty votes wanna talk really quick Abdul. Or Eric about the way that Marion county has changed the way you vote a lot of people that went this morning to vote or throughout the day. Today might have been surprised at the the ease that, you know, finding a polling place. It was really easy. This time may be as compared to last time. This is something that goes all the way back to Todd rakija when he was secretary of state pushing the idea of votes centers were instead of each precinct has its own polling place precinct still exist. But you've got these more centralized of places cast your vote Marion county just coming on board with this with this election that still close to three hundred votes centers. But you don't have to cast your vote and your precinct you're going to the mall. There is a vote center near the mall. You cast your vote there. You're headed to work. There's about Senator near your job you vote on your way to work. And so it does as little said earlier it makes it trickier. Detract us where the vote is coming from. But it's more convenient for the voters, but here, but the challenge, although although it does increase voter convenience. I've never subscribed to the theory that vote centers increase voter turnout because a lot of times what you'd get a sort of removing the deck chairs on the Titanic people who may have voted saved by mail will now go to vote center on election day, because they know they can hey, there's votes in or near my job or your kids. School or daycare the challenges or what drives voter turnout will. I will always maintained in. My dining will always be candidates and issues. Those are will get people to the polls to vote contested race a contest those things that people out to vote to vote centers make it easier. There's no denying that. But in the day, it's candidates candidates and issues that drive turn. And that's one thing that really that. Really? I think maybe people were expecting maybe a few more people at the polls at least in Marion county that came out today because if you looked at the early voting totals the there, it was about forty three hundred in total when it ended on Monday afternoon or Monday at noon, and that was way more than there had been in the two thousand fifteen election in considerably more than in the twenty eleven election. And so it looked if you count that as indicative of being a trend that it looked like more people were coming out that they were interested in this race. However when it actually. Came to physical voting getting out in voting today that wasn't so much the case. Yeah. It's all a xactly. Right. That it's candidates and issues, but when you get right down to it. You can have the best candidates in the world and people do not turn out to vote in primaries. And they do not turn out to vote in municipal elections and need to combine the two and you have a municipal primary people just don't show up. It's not something people are tuned into you. Don't have the big splashy TV ads getting people interested the Carmo race. To the contrary. You don't have this mud flying back and forth by large. It's always a low turnout election. This this year when there's a shortage of exciting races rocking at single digit turnout. No out of counties. Yeah. I think Abdul you're saying some single digit turn out here in Marion county. Yeah. We're about by the time. It was all said none I including almost including absentee ballots. We may hit seven percent on a good day. And that is actually less than where we were back in two thousand fifteen where he hit Bob nearly eight percent. So. Once again, we have a lot more places to vote, but the voter turnout was actually less than it was four years ago. Beck up to the Hamilton county returns for a second. If they can just breaking those into percentages to get more of an idea of just where that stands that same thing. So thank you. Beach in. Both nearly fifty five to forty five percent in that race in the early going. So a ten point lead that if that were to be the final margin that would be believed his closest margin in seven tries but still comfortable win. If that holds it, of course, it's still early Scott fed misleading sixty two to thirty eight percent over Logan day in that four way. Noblesville race. Your leaders are Chris Jensen and Mike Corbett Jensen the city council president leading by ten points. Forty four percent of the vote to thirty four for Mike Corbett. I think a lot of people are worth thinking and our thinking now that it's a foregone conclusion that even though and you said this already Eric that is just two percent of people reporting in Marion county in Indianapolis that mayor of Indianapolis, the Republican primary will likely go to Jim merit to state Senator and the democrat primary will likely go to the incumbent, Joe Hodgson. Yeah, it would be the shocker of all shockers Jason hammer on the hammer. Nigel show is drive the NCAA comparison if if this were the tournament. If this March madness, what would this be the challenges for a generic Joe hogs, it is there something lower than a sixteen seed? It's not likely the. Community college beating Gonzaga. You never say never. There's a reason they held the election and count the votes, but it would be a highly unlikely outcome that were to happen one. Speaking of expected outcomes one more we can call keeping an eye on Fort Wayne, and the incumbent mayor Tom Henry renominated for another term eighty five percent of the vote in his primary. A close race of the Republican side longtime city councilman John Crawford up against insurance executive Tim Smith Smith leading that fifty two to forty six percent. That's about a quarter of the vote in Fort, Wayne. So they may be in for a relatively long night up though. Yeah. Indiana's second largest city, of course, d'humieres of these large cities that really does have an impact on what happens in the rest of Indiana. Because if you think about the tourism aspect mayor Joe hog set, you know, he he will help set the tone for what happens as far as getting conventions here as far as repairing infrastructure if you heard Jim Merritt a little bit earlier today on WABC news talk. About how this race is going to be about infrastructure and public safety. So he and hogs set have a lot to go back and forth about in the fall. And you talked about the Fort Wayne mayor to Tom Henry, of course, Fort Wayne has its own share of tourism dollars that it brings into the state. If you think about, you know, things that are going on there. I mean, heck they got Paul McCartney this year in Indianapolis didn't. So you know, you have things going on in Fort Wayne to seven twenty four you're going to hear from mayor Joe hog set. And also, you'll be hearing from state Senator Jim Merritt, the two very likely nominees for their parties for mayor of Indianapolis. You will also hear more from the gym Brainard campaign in Carmel, and he is the likely nominee for the Republican or well, if he wins that he will be the next mayor of Carmel, these he will keep his job as mayor of Carmel should put it that way. It's worth noting at this point is this is gonna come up in a wad of the races that we're looking at tonight. You know, the hawks have merit race. We're going to be looking at in November. But for a lot of the cities that we're following tonight. This is it, you know, the Republicans, and we're talking about Republicans in the indie metro area there. There are no Democrats running in Carmel in fissures in Lebanon in Noblesville, the Democrats and for that matter the libertarians in any other independent or third parties that want to get involved they have until June thirtieth to find a candidate. And if that doesn't happen than the winner tonight is the winner, the we're talking deep red cities in all these cases. And so it's very likely that we're talking about the next mayor, and all these cases, but it doesn't become official until June thirtieth would keep I would still keep an eye on Carmela in particular. Because one of the the grumbling heard that Efrain were to lose Democrats may actually feel a need for the first time that you run a candidate for mayor now that they would win, but at least star. To make tracks like no safe. Maybe five ten years down the road to start building that party infrastructure as Hamilton county becomes a little bit more. Oh, let's say more purple than not necessarily blue, and that's worth noting in Hamilton county. We we had a story on this last year after the November elections Hamilton county was a lot less Republican than we've been accustomed to in the November election how that breaks to enact that was pretty consistent across cities, but whether that affect carries over to this election, but like you start off with our their candidates on the ballot one of the remarkable things last year in Hamilton county was they ran candidates were all those offices Shelvin twenty-six, you still have racist that haven't been called. You still have people who are presumably going to either keep their job or may be the candidate in November. And just breaking news here for those of you who've been wondering, Larry Moe Lynton has won the Republican bid for mayor of Winchester Indian. Yes, Larry, Moe. I'm not making this up. I thought. Never I won't even go there almost as much as I want guy named Marmaduke who's on some ballots somewhere that is just too good. Larry, moe. I didn't know where this in Howard county..

"About forty eight thousand votes camp, which is about seven percent back in two thousand fifteen it was about fifty one thousand and in Hamilton county. It looks like they're probably going to break even as they were for years ago as well. Can you remember the last time it was I turn out for a primary election? And and what do you think the cause is of low turnouts? I've always been firm believer that what drives voter turnout is our issues and candidates, and for example, on the Republican side, you just didn't you only had one when you had a contested mayor's race. But there was more perfunctory. Challenge is. And you had only had an council district of a challenge on the democrat side there were actually nine contested council races. So there was a lot more heavier democratic turnout than Republican but municipal primaries. If you look at like this say the presidential elections like the World Series municipal primaries like a peewee softball. Exhibition game right Abdul. Joining us in studio. The polls closed just about forty minutes ago and coming up at the top of the hour at seven o'clock, we have complete coverage of the Indiana primary. What are some of the things your keeping your eye Abdul? Well, one things will be who does the low turnout help does it benefit the candidate backed by political parties because they have the organization the man woman, you know, pick your gender. No power to go door to door make phone calls gender fail. Super that sounds everybody. Maybe you made a stick under. You may not want to see that going to Vegas. You may away with something you weren't counting. So so there's that or does a low turn out. They'll say, maybe favor, the challengers, and the people are coming out of the people who are mad and wanna change something. So they're always that that's sort of back and forth. I guess we'll know this evening, which one was right, for example, up in Hamilton county. Scott fatness, the MIR fishers and Jim brainer may have Carmo both had a lot of absentee ballot. They on Monday and absentee ballots to get those ballots out to identify their voters and get those and sort of build up that nice little cushion. Whereas if you're some Alexei Baber, Fred gland, or maybe fantasies challenger, you're hoping that enough. People are mad ticked off. They'll come out, and they'll they'll get you over the finish line. So being the sports nerd that. I am I always like to compare things use his sports analogies. So if this were March madness here is there any chance for that sixteenth seed to upset at one is there any major upset that you're kind of keeping your eyes on tonight. There is air like like as you would say if I may use a. Sports analogy any given Sunday. This guy right here. I remember that's worth WHAT days. Any any given Sunday technically anything can happen now. Just because something's likely or could doesn't mean it's probable. I mean, if you if you look for example, going back up to Hamilton county where you have to sort of the three main mayor racist, Noblesville fishers and Carmel if there's a chance for an upset. Maybe Fred, Glenn because just all the back and forth. But like I said, we'll know for sure probably in about an hour and a half or so. But it's it's probably gonna be merit and hog set when all said and done this way, if it is Denise hatch, her campaign slogan was pot in pot holes. Gained a few more supporters. Suppose close about forty minutes ago. So it's a little late for that. It's more likely. I mean, absent some media coming in hit monument circle. It's going to be hawk said, Merrick keeping with the sports wagering theme that hammer started. Let's move onto the general election. They're here in Marion county who do you think wins that election looking down the road between Hogg said and state Senator Marion Marion county favors Democrats, but I have been privy to some personal polling by bull just say personal polling that showed a statistically tied race. So we'll just leave it at that personal Poland personal polling. I do a lot of that at home in the evening hours. But can't really get. You're married to. My wife goes to bed way before. I'm looking at a website here, indeed dot gov. They've got some of the results coming in. And I'm fascinated with the referendums tonight. I said all along I hate these things. But I think they're going to pass overwhelmingly I'm looking at Decatur township only forty votes have been turned in. But at sixty two percent to thirty seven percent in favor of that school referendum Wayne township. They've got about the almost three hundred votes in and at sixty six percent in favor of that school referendum. That's probably what we're going to see throughout the night. Right. It's a little hard to tell. Because once again the votes are so low, but here's what to remember out referendums, and I know our our mutual friend. Rod kindle can't stand up because he thinks they're the spawn of the devil, but a referendum is all about the relationship. A school district has with its constituents and they're about ten of these going on across the state of Indiana. And odds are not all of them will pass because what some people aren't crazy about. How the school district was operating the school district never commute. That they usually do pass though, right? It's about sixty forty. And usually if you lose the first time, you realize what you did wrong. And then you go back a second time you get your act together. And then odds are more likely than not they pass. But once again, those are all about relationships between the school district and its constituents while we'll say that at least for Wayne township where I live at the school district. Did a great job getting their teachers on board. When I went to vote today. They had the kids passing out the flyers. The single tier coming out of there is the look in their native American in that garbage commercial Friday team, seventy right. That's why brought me such great joy to give them that Heisman Trophy stiff arm when I went in there to vote no against it. Coming up at seven o'clock tonight. We've got Abdul. We've got Chris Davis. Our news director Eric Berman from the newsroom, what are you guys gonna be doing? How you guys here tonight? Tell us about the coverage Eric permanent, Chris preserves tell you more than that. I'm just here to look good, and you know, be partying drinking between mission accomplished. No obvious shaking his head right as well. He should did. I get myself in there. I mean, obviously, we look at no Maryanne Hamilton and also some other contested mayor's races and around the state of Indiana. So we'll be taking a look at those who got a number of school referendum. So this is definitely your place for primary coverage. "As your traffic reports show a lot of people sliding on. So we got a clear those streets and then apply. So hopefully, we'll have a safer. It was an incredibly dangerous morning talking to mayor Scott fatness officiers announcing you, you know, you're gonna file today. Four for reelection. Where where is Fisher's going as I look at it. It seems to be entertainment has been a large part of the growth, you've got you've got top golf taking major major kind of places. And then, of course, the yard that is coming which is gonna be a tremendous amount of restaurants in a restaurant incubator, if you will is the future of fishers, and entertainment based kind of place. I think it's a well-balanced city. So I think we missed it lacked kind of that dynamic component of order city needs to be what people can recreate in joy kind of amenities a quality of life right in their community. So we have focused and developed out. But honestly, I think tack we've bought a lot of companies in the fishers. Royal programs just kind of ecosystem that we intentionally tried to build. And so I think you know, like this year going forward, it's going to be all about jobs and just creating more dynamic well-balanced city that ultimately leads to long term sustainability. But part of that balance. I if you will is is. A tax base. So the entertainment stuff, certainly businesses and they're paying taxes. You take a look at a caramels growth. There's a lot of headquarters as you head up and down Meridian down thirty one. There does Fisher see itself as a place that can get those kinds of businesses. Or is there an idea or desire to attract a different type of business? No, I think we compete very well that front we've had first announced a one hundred million dollar project in downtown Fisher. As we said Stanley, securities knowledge services, CD all lords corporate headquarters, located fishers, and you're right. That tax base is critical. So, you know for those folks that don't wanna see their community change. Or don't wanna see it equal in reality. That's just not the world we live in these communities need to resolve and grow, and that's a central to the long-term financial sustainability of the city, but for a place like fissures talking to mayors Scott fatness filing to run for reelection. When I first came. Indianapolis. Here's what I was told about Fisher's. I true story vinyl village. And you take look at the growth of some places in fishers. And it seems like the growth happened very quickly without a plan. How does one go about reestablishing a plan after the fact because the growth of Hamilton county for a lot of years was just massive and happening everywhere am I off base in thinking that in Fisher's there was growth without a plan. And now, there's gotta be a rethink. I think that's an accurate observations from the nineteen ninety eight to two thousand eight time frame. I would say we had pretty unbridled. Call super traditional suburban sprawl growth new concept that was just on the horizon that people weren't really thinking about well planned out walkable communities hitting the rewind button on some of those neighborhoods, very difficult. So we're really focused on how you how do you maintain by them seeing some of those neighborhoods that aren't near any load of restaurants, or walkability components. And and that is going to be a challenge for our city challenge was dealt with so Florida we're going to continue to deal with the longer. We feel confident that by bringing more jobs maintain our schools, and really creating these interesting places like the two hundred billion dollars your or like our downtown redevelopment that that ultimately will keep everybody in a sustainable model. Before before. I let you go. You got to be getting any competition. You getting a primary challenge. We can have anybody say that's got fatness. Well, he wants kicked my dog. You want to admit any dog kicking, sir. Well, metaphorically I'm sure there's somebody out there that would say, you know, I have no idea there's always chatter out there, really, you know, with a four month old and a four year old. I really don't have to scour Facebook to figure out if anyone's got around against me. I'm filing today. We're prepared to tell her story. And we'll see what happens that, right? There is Scott fatness, the mayor of Fisher, sir. All the best. I greatly. Appreciate it. The people who are a Fisher. Someone's got to send me a tweet had the roads luck acquire. According to the mayor. They were they were on it. Now, I wanna know now see what we do we trust. But we verify I I believe that's a let's say Ronald Reagan. Type philosophy map bear with traffic. Let's start early. Because man, it just keeps on going a terrible morning on the roads. What's the latest? Yeah. Absolutely keeps piling on. Tony. Let's look at midtown.

"But sending us pictures of plows that are just wells parked. But I don't know if that's because there's a reason or not as I've said don't get mad today at the people who are working the plows people who are working to clear the streets. Right. There's going to be plenty of time. And we will not forget there are no short term memories here. The question is why was the snow? Why was this such a problem this morning, why wasn't it handled? Now, maybe it was the Colt, and it was just gonna stick in. And it wasn't. Going to work out. You would create even more issues. There was already a conversation. Indianapolis about hey, you're gonna see because the cold weather. You're gonna see potholes in my answers. Yeah. Yeah. Of course, you were again. That's no reason to get upset with the city. They aren't responsible for weather. They aren't responsible for temperatures in the negative thirties. It's just not how this works. They're responsible for getting anything back up the snuff. And when we see the roads in the condition that they were this morning and still are we ask why? And we need answers. And if and if anybody from any municipality things they're going to get through this without answering questions. That's when we'll have the problem just need answers to the questions. We'll keep an eye on the roads map. We'll have the latest Scott fatness, mayor fishers. We with us next. What's next for that city? What's next for their growth and had he handled the roads, Tony cats Ninety-three WIBC? Good morning. Imagining of better Bank starts with looking at the savings rates.
