"Here's the dollar Detroit Lions the Andre swear Georgia okay okay so that's not what did you just say the lions could go running back here and you did that a lot last night didn't hear we are D. Andriy swift is the pick the address with the pick he is are out a lot of a lot of people have had him as meeting the number one running back interest interestingly they did he he is not a like about how tight but he's a guy who can impact the passing game so I mean it you know it's understandable that they took a running back but it but you know you you've got to impact the passing kit game today than I saw Hollande swift does he's a good receiver out of the backfield it's it's an intriguing pick I would tell you that this is a player that they have highly graded if they if they pass on a player like up at NASA who fit them to a tee you know they're gonna they're gonna come out and tell you that they have him as a very highly graded player Scott well if I'm wrong there were a lot of people that were kind of almost in all that he didn't go in the first round of the words snubbed was thrown around a little bit last night did did you think of them that highly or was he more sectoral back in your mind what do you it was the running back position is almost like the the quarterback position in fantasy football it's it's we're getting to the point where the where they become so sort of diminish that it's hard to call around one back when there aren't running back to really getting drafted in the first round anymore but yeah I would tell you that he's right in that range with with adwords to layer up you know and it's a matter of what you're gonna do for a team the reality is that anytime you take the ball out of a quarterback's hands take handed off to running back you're you're reducing your affection your efficiency as a as an offense in the Swiss can catch the catch passes he's really good at it he is you know I I think he's explosive he's fast he's got good size for a free in the short but he's got good size he's elusive he's twitchy healing and do a lot of different things for offense he's an intriguing player it's just you know just do the running back position it's been it's been deeply you know can be prioritized but they're not drafting him because of the because they're going to give him a full workload as a runner you know handing the ball to him they're drafting a because they're they're expecting him to do a lot of stuff receiving and and that's where the value is what and I think to Scott if you could talk at all because when it comes to running backs here yeah in Detroit or especially drafting guys what's is durability you know that because coming out and if he's a guy because if he's playing behind or with like you said it Carreon Johnson who we know has had injuries or you can go back to should all different running backs in the look the first rider Hockenson is here durable guy and that was the durable while he was with Georgia yes some durability issues he's he's had some stuff in the in the in the past low shoulder thing I think in twenty nineteen yet some of them I think I want to say he had surgery on both both growing but just really small tears we took a couple years ago so I don't yeah I don't think he missed anything where where you would say injuries are an issue and then the reality of of of this is that they all have little things that that nag them at times he's in he's beat started for them for two years he was a feature back in that offense the pro style offenses he's a good player he's a really good player you know I think there's gonna be some gnashing of teeth about that about what job why not Jonathan Taylor why not Dobbins I I would say that I would say that swift is a better fit for a modern offense and those guys are simply because of his ability to to help out in the passing game yeah I mean doesn't it what is yeah and does it also seem that when you look back and we'll look at this ticket also too is affected by who's picked after him who did they miss out on whose slide so somebody else lives to them for their next pick that could be more of a value ray here second third for Sean we're talking about it before you came on it it's the you really separate the boys from the man in whose planchets news plan checkers so to me it's the intricacies and and these points that you brought up is great so I mean it you know somebody that is versatile can catch the ball that's a new NFL no doubt no doubt events if wye Edward teller went to Kansas city let me last with the last pick in the first round last night that could easier it's easily been the address where he could easily have been right you know so he it's they're putting swift with Kerryon Johnson with the other players they have and and you know the running back room and and he just he he makes that room better I think you could make the argument that there might have been you know different ways to go about this but but I mean it's not like running back wasn't a need you know so I think I think swift is a solid option for where they are and again he just he needs to impact the passing game he can't he's a good player Scott one more thing we're we're up against a break we really appreciate you joining is Darren McCarty show here on seven sixty W. J. R. case you're just joining us D. Andriy swept a selected by the lions second round thirty fifth overall how does he compare to feel ready if you're going to hear it it it let this be the first time you're going to hear it a thousand fifty eight times more in the next twenty four hours is there a comparison of somebody says oh great we drafted to Theo Riddick how does she compare in yeah I guess in regards Ali may fit in well I think there's a similarity with the with the way they play well I mean you gotta remember that Riddick rhetoric a little time to develop as a is a receiver just the it's a compatibility blocker like on third down type stuff and he ended up being pretty dynamic there where he would just you know he was he was pretty lights out protection so swift as the work he's gonna have to go to work on that he's going to have to to really merge in pass protection but you know he's he's every bit the receiver that Rick was he may not be quite as dynamic as shifty as Riddick was but I think he's a little bit he's got more long speed and I think you've got more ability to to make bigger plays happen where Riddick was very difficult to cover over a short space so I think I I mean I think's what does get a little more long speed we can eat you may feel more dynamic you know over over a distance where Rick was more what kind of phone booth quickness great stuff pal you're the best I really appreciate you joining us here tonight no problem and you will be following me on Twitter and you're not you're going to a podcast Mar we'd have to call back sometime we get him on as well the guy knows his stuff appreciate your friend thanks all right Scott Bischoff Kylie joining its mac will get the reaction until sketch has an ear on what's going on in Elmwood park we get your thoughts as well during McCarty show Friday night right here seven sixty W. "The reaction with all the family the extended family the cultures of people in the room celebrate with these kids and I think that's the best part but look at this Michael Pittman junior there's my guy just goes we all go into the court took up the call for gore quarterback all right what do you got Scott I'm I'm definitely I'm if this was the final you know the March madness I'm ripping up my pool she right now I'm done my goal I want Michael Pittman Jr in your cell lines are out next what do you got for us hi I get a list of about thirty names I don't know if that helps all right that's weird we're getting some bird that's sort of like the Samsonite briefcase and dumb and dumber it makes sense for the show we're good I think Denzel mims makes sense I think Levesque I should know what makes sense both wide receivers they they make that offense a lot better I would tell you Josh Jones the offensive tackle from Houston would be a very good option here yeah badge you are Joshua J. he be an option I think so give the guy that fits them best as a japonesa from Iowa to be honest okay you know what and a matter of are you are you avoiding offense which is he's perfect for their scheme it's a you know he's he's he's big he's strong he's got long arms he plays his gap is the kind of justice he's one of those do your job kind of guys that he's perfect for what Patricia wants he's like perfectly cast for for what the Tricia wants out of an edge player so W. there's a bunch of guys is that there's a bunch of options they can go we can go here but I think up enough is probably you know if you were he's got he's got to be leading the pack as far as what people are thinking Bob Quinn will do here but Denzel mims I think should have been a first round receiver either really good player really really good C. read be he'd be a dynamic option option you know OB opposite Kenny Golladay so it it it it but I was just gonna say because now you see it's sort of like the middle of the first round goes running blind and now it goes run of wide receivers that impact you know teams to make a change suddenly like we better go out and get this guy and hope to get a guy later and it ends up backfiring and I hold it in and say all the lines picks and but go ahead but I think it's a matter of who fell and they have graded very high who fell out of who fell out of round one and how does it fit their plans going forward they don't really they don't have a receiver signed past this coming season they need a receiver desperately that's what they've got they got a guy graded as around one type they're gonna take it just you know I think I've been I I would bet that it's up at NASA that that's what I would do you know it's got better but I would definitely choose Scott Bischoff Kylie joining us said Darren McCarty show seven sixty W. J. R. when the lions select one the commissioner announces it we will try to have that for you as it happens Scott very quickly as we wait for this pick to come in mac and I were talking this is been generally regarded as a very special wide receiver year correct me if I'm wrong but this is a very deep wide receiver class yes it's super deep it's just you know this is there are and there is there are a few round one graded players still available you're not gonna mean as this goes on that that those guys are gonna diminish are gonna go away so you know it's it's finding value that they're picking up the top of round two right so you they're going to find somebody who they have very highly greater than that you know it's just it's just is it a defensive player as an edge rusher as a receiver and an offense of tackle all those girls are bring your premium positions so a lot of those guys make sense Josh Jones makes sense Benjamin to make sense they can go running back here you know I mean that there's a there's a variety of things they can do we'll see how it got you guys it seems like the pic is been in for an intermediate you know maybe it's just me but mac you mentioned in about three minutes ago the pick is saying it's been up there for for what seems like five years right now I believe L. I know you know what the thing is shot and it's just sort of lions lock because as as Scott was talking earlier on I was sort of the waiting going all this usually trade.

"Cornerback who I my first impression Shahnawaz you I'm good with it yeah I didn't want yeah brown and and it was like at the end it was okay I can I I see it we agreed we'd talked about it people have mentioned it going the safe way this was the safe play now is where the drive starts to me and I was we are going to be here on the air one alliance or either select or maybe trade back in the second round we're gonna be here with you for the next hour and now I'm excited that this is exciting to me as as sort of fan boy growing up and this could be I'm I'm just it'll be interesting I do they take a running back you know there's there's there's three running backs there who are are prolific do they go to the safety of five Xavier McKinney who's from Alabama he's still sitting there if that's what the bangles are the calls call seem to be looks like gonna go Jacob Beeson what did you get from yesterday what did you think of the lions pick and what what do you got your the veteran bro lead me into this Hey next time you know what Macura this is going to be a Russian man there's no other way to say that I mean this hour is going to fly by there's something special when there's something like this going on when we were reacting in in real time and we're going to react here and my buddy Scott Bischoff who's a scout is going to call in and our boys sketch is gonna be about keeping his ear in Allen park so we got it covered for you I want to go back I I agree with you with the quota if you're one of those guys you wanted more well of course we all want more you know I mean it's like the bishop came up with a good analogy I'd love to sell my house for a million dollars would that be great the reality is I'm not going to get a million dollars from my house and there's either there's either somebody to dance with or there isn't and there was nobody to dance went so if D. you know consular shouldn't price happens to be the best quarterback in the draft and it's that interesting spot back where the best and the best in his position at the draft meets needs how could somebody complain at that I don't understand how somebody could complain it it and you nailed it on top of the head my friend listen this is where you get your value this is where you build your team you hit a home run in the second round you hit a home run in the third round and all of a sudden the prospects for next season look at heck of a lot different and and let's not let's call the way it is Bob Quinn's coming about with a few straight coach to his belt you know he's really more like rob here that means make you compare walking up there one of the things one of the things I'd Ascot this shop is what appeared to me yes yesterday in the first round and you see by how you know with the San Francisco forty Niners orchestrated just moving up a pack to get somebody that they you know really wanted as a rusher should to replace a guy they sort of did in the same similarity what Detroit did a losing slammed replacing with the Gupta but but the the whole point is you really see which organizes Asians and you know are above other organizations and I think that not only the coolest part for me watching the draft is seeing in people's houses in the city the celebration with their families and their loved ones because I remember it's because as a player it's all about how you got there and it's not about you it's not about you when the cops and getting drafted it's about everything that went into it yeah when you sit around by yourself but sometimes you go man I'm proud of myself for I did it but now it's about everybody else and that's cool to see what blind and I'll even go to the defending champions you know what they did reminded me of what the red wings at county hall and used to do back in the day even though they pick the late they still got a at the end that runner out of LSU and you know just gave you help Patrick Mahomes another top notch weapon you know it's like here he is not a broke down two wheel bicycle bro here's a here's a twenty speed if they even have those yeah and you know what I mean mac that's that's what you're talking about right now I mean there are teams that they have the luxury pick now one of the rumors making the rounds today is the lines are very interested in Jaylen hurts and mac I don't get it we seeded hockey all the time you see it in the NFL as well for whatever reason there's a guy that you watch and you drooled over you know I use the example of Lamar Jackson a few years ago just us Dodd in college I mean he was phenomenal but a lot of scouts looked at him and questioned whether or not that would translate at the NFL level what we found out that it did Jaylen hurts is another guy like that all he did was when he won in Alabama you obviously to listen but to a supplanted him but he wanted all call home but he's been phenomenal and so the the issue in the rumor making the rounds this afternoon as the lions have had a lot of discussions with Jaylen hurts now here's the issue are they sincere about that at pick thirty five or are they trying to build you know some dramas where maybe they can pull a bill Bella check it moved down one or dare I say twice and get themselves an extra second round pick get themselves an extra third round pick yesterday was weird back because for all the talk and all the drama and all the rumors speculation and innuendo you know what it was very quiet it was just smoke and there was no fire at least early on is tonight going to follow suit I'm not so sure because boy there are a heck of a lot of talented players on the board right now but it seem like warning shots right where you're you're expecting you know it's got it's it's a prize fighter it's something that everybody's learning how to adopt to and stop in really we use that is shot and and in better terms of the same this is where you separate the men from the boys or who's playing checkers and who's playing chess you know with Jalen hurts it's it's maybe yes but Jalen hurts of thirty five No but maybe in the third round making a move where they can move back you know that the guy love in the draft and I always had is a Michael Pitman out of you USC just because he stopped and his dad and he comes in great roots and you know be a great special team guy and stuff like that but I know we don't need a wide receiver but it's something that I if they made a move and then they brought Jaylen hurts and I think it's what you'll see now is the top notch organize Asians the ones that the coaches and the G. Adams and ownership our our rate and stop that they're going to you know make this known in the second third rounds and we're gonna witness it right now and it's the greatest thing yeah you know I'll tell you what don't do not be surprised everybody talked about how deep this was for wide receiver when you consider mac that you know and the dole has year deal and Marvin Jones is up you know what they're gonna lock up Kenny might the lions take a wide receiver in this draft I'm not so sure thirty five but you might see that later on and we'll touch base with Scott base off a little bit he'll touch on on that point this is a a wide receiver class at mac you see it in the NHL all the time people all this is a winner class all this is a deep center classes a defense request that's a one thing a lot of people are talking about are those wide receivers more the show coming up we'll let you know what the Bengals do and then of course it's the Indianapolis Colts and then the Detroit lions and we'll have it for you right here it's a Darren McCarty show on seven sixty W. "I do these days and that may change but the way we were monitoring it was through t shirts and and and bruce kept the t. shirt so i get flak every now and again that i say they've meltzer's ulcers my friend but there is a fuck meltzer t. shirt over priorities now. I don't receive any money from that compensation. I just promote the show. I'm promote the <hes> the website here on the show but it's not all evil that we've done on the show. You know we did a lot of good <hes> on this show we did. I think three separate separate fundraisers we did one for ls and i know for you know the <hes> for that great organization we raise like sixty grand and we did one for american american cancer society and i think we're excess of thirty grand there and well over twenty grand for the houston flood relief so together i mean i think we've raised like two hundred thousand dollars for charity and you know eventually we started actually raise some money for ourselves. <hes> way we had two point one million downloads downloads in a month which i thought was pretty good so i went on my own and sent a pitch to mid roll and said you know hey what about this and laid out a real presentation and they made an offer and we had a guaranteed contract and for the first time i made money doing a podcast on that happened about five months in i would say are ruined and about the same time i decided hey. Let's spin off of what we've been doing here with bruce until the w._c._w. Sada things and eric bischoff at the time was was doing a podcast with nick houseman and scott bischoff on wrestling and i wanted i wanted to do w._c._w. Version but i wanted to do with somebody who i felt was sort of lock. Bruce in that eric was still very much on the wrestling space. He had been a part of t._n._a. He does shoot interviews. He'd written books richard. There's always sort of behind the scenes. Nobody really heard from him and i felt like tony. Shivani was that guy from the from the w._c._w. Side in new started in like eighty three and he was around till one so the number of years and the length sort of matched up with bruce and i felt like he was really the voice of w._c._w. So who better but most reportedly i saw him at the end of the legends fan fest and two thousand fifteen and he stole the show so fast forward and i thought this is the guy so i had his number from his him doing guest spot on ric flair podcast semtex and said hey. It's conrad introduce myself. Can i have your email. Address got an idea. I'd like to present to you so far off. An email is probably two pages long that was a real business plan for how it could monetize this and help him make some some money and it was the same format that that we were doing with bruce. Hey we've got some guys who can go sell some ads but we can do some live shows. I think we can get a guaranteed contract. If we start to get enough downloads but in the meantime okay some silly shirts you can keep all that money. I'll push mortgages every now and again. We'll get some money rolling in and and i just so happened he needed to pay for his daughter's wedding and this looked perfect opportunity to do that and i'm happy to say that that we were successful in the effort we had a real goal that we needed to hit for that and we made sure we sold enough t shirts and enough aunt sponsorships to make sure that that happened <hes> and then after that after tony's wedding he said okay <hes>. Let's start chopping up some money and so what do you know. I was making money in podcasting again but the the name of the show was what happened when and of course we wanted to just rip off the w._c._w. Logo with w. h. w. but what happened when was something that i used to say to bruce <music> all the time and something else. I used to say to bruce all the time is we ain't gonna win that..

"People. We started working on the story. I thought it was going to be a story about a cultural object something that people in different side of America's political divide saw completely differently. And it is a story about a cultural object. The object in question is not truck nuts. The object is humor itself truck nuts makes some people laugh, but the people who find them gross or crass or stupid or the bleeding edge of all sorts of odious ideological positions. Don't quite believe that anyone could be buying truck nuts as just a joke. We imagine that they are on some levels sincere. And this makes us laugh. Meanwhile, truck understood people who don't find truck nuts. Funny who don't get why. They're funny who don't the irony in them are up tight, and they in turn get a kick out of that people actually find funny about truck nuts, then has very little to do with being a pair of balls and everything to do with them being apparent evidence that other Americans have a bad sense of humor. "Defensive end pass rushers there's a reason those guys are paid the most because they impact the game the most in many ways and while the center is vitally important and i hope this guy works out and clearly it's a neat because shore up that offensive line get that running game going that takes pressure off matthew stafford and that aids the passing game it has been a very interesting draft from the beginning to where we are now with the lion selection let's bring in scott bischoff shall we live scott first of all thank you very much for your assessments around the broadcast your immediate thoughts on the lions using the twentieth selection on frank well i think most people are going to feel a little disappointed with with the name but it's hard to ignore what they're trying to do and what they're going to achieve through frank rack now flew under the radar he was injured he missed the senior bowl he missed the combine he he is i think he's the outside of quentin nelson i think he's the best interior offensive linemen in this class pricing daniels yes we talk so much about character we were talking about baggage a little bit ago this guy was a captain at arkansas says something about his leadership skill brandy here's the thing the in the initial i don't know for lack of a better term dot punch feeling because i think we were all kind of leaning towards line is one thing it was a neat little things were home a neat courtney only has a few reps he can maybe back up a few games i really needed a center they love versatility this guy fits the bill my question would be are you going to be able to get value from defensive from defensive tackle and from edge in the later picks that would be my to still massive needs still got an opportunity to address that but i think you look at the first round pick and what it is is it's it's really substance over what is considered potential flash.

"Addressees interesting we'll see what the dallas cowboys do coming up here in just a moment this is going be a big production because they're in dallas obviously mike i take a little bit it'd be expected good time for us take a break the selection the green bay packers selected alexsandr the corner out of louisville winterson gurus scott bischoff has gotten over a stage fright here's what he has to say alexander cornerback louisville alexander can close instantly and he has a lot of pass breaks up in college because of his ability to locate the ball and break on it a very fluid athlete with excellent athleticism and toughness when he's defending the run alexander has a great mental makeup to play cornerback in today's nfl while we're talking about the dallas cowboys here and their separation with dez bryant at this particular point in his career team born dyson brian for apparently he turned down a multi year deal from the ravens because he wants a one year deal to try to hit free agency again next year i mean the problem is if you dez bryant you you missed out on some of the big box that were out there and some teams find themselves in a different position now i mean look i think he's still a good player he's not what he wants man and you know what he's doing i think he's hedging his bet a little bit he said he wanted to kind of survey the situation after the draft was over and almost a need position dan you hit the nail on top of the head he is the same guy who was two years ago no way no.
