Yup, Velma Is a Lesbian

"One of the characters in Scooby-Doo and I, you know, it's funny I watch Scooby-Doo forever and I never remember their names because they really don't matter. But velma, I know y'all remember velma. Somehow, some way velma is now gay. She's now lesbian. It's been revealed. You know, as a kid, I never thought about them liking each other and having any relationships and doing nothing with nothing. It's a cartoon character where they are solving mysteries. All I want to hear is Scooby-Doo go aw, I don't care about gay, lesbian, straight, whether you want to do the enemy not go that far. I was going to say whether you want to do nefarious things with multiple people in one room at the same time and for you adults in a room, you know what I'm talking about. I don't give a flying flip. Why do they have to interject sexuality in all of our children's shows? Why mister Tatum? Well, I'm going to tell you why. The goal of the LGBTQ movement is pedophilia to normalize pedophilia decriminalized pedophilia. They want to have sex and manipulate your children. This is the goal. You can not convince me of anything different. Why are they putting this stuff in children's films?

Biden's Pardons for Marijuana Possession Injects Issue Into Midterms

"And I don't know why they think people so dumb. I know why they think black people are so dumb. I don't understand. He decided that he wants to decriminalize marijuana. And he's going to say that he's going to forgive a pardon every single person who has a federal charge of possession of marijuana. Let me school you real quick, Joe Biden. Most people that are being affected by marijuana possession are also being charged with other more heinous crimes. Marijuana, I don't know a person sitting in jail for having some weed and in the center console. I don't know nobody sitting in jail today. That's doing actual time in jail for having a joint. I don't know a person. But what happens is that ray ray got a stolen gun and he got weed. Somebody did a home invasion and then they fit, you know, they find out that they got ten, 20 pounds of weed in their house. That's how you go to prison. You don't go to prison for a little joint. Or if you've been committing crimes and this is your third strike. That's how you go to jail for a significant amount of time. And ladies and gentlemen, it's not going to do anything. Most people that are in prison right now, you know, that have anything to do with marijuana that's doing time is because they committed other violent crimes. You can partner that off the record, but they still doing life in prison for murder. You can partner off their record and still doing a significant amount of time in prison for aggravated assault.

Addressing the Disease of Fatherless Homes

"I was speaking about this fatherless home issue. And if you look at it, you say, okay, here are the numbers. Clearly that's not a good environment for children to be raised in. Clearly all of these other issues, suicide, and suicide was another stat. That I did I mentioned earlier. You see all these, the residual effect of a fatherless homes. And then you look at the races and you say, white people are 25%, black people are 76%. So you just take color out of it. Just say you had a group of test group of individuals that were 25%, only 25% were born children were born out of wedlock. Into these fatherless homes, and then you take another group of people and say 75%. And you add all the numbers that I said, which group of people are going to fare better. Who's going to have the most problems? It's going to be the group that has the least amount of fathers who are in the home. I don't understand how in our country we're not prioritizing this. Global warming screw global warming. Fatherlessness is more important and more damning to our society. The global warming. COVID-19, the coronavirus, fatherless homes, are putting Americans in a greater risk than COVID-19.

In America, Yu Can Accomplish Anything

"The first topic it was three pillars that I focused on in this speech for a nonprofit organization called take charge. One of the organization out in Minneapolis, but at this event, they asked me to keynote speak and I was trying to get in my mind, what should I talk about? What are the key elements that I think are affecting America and dispensation of time? And it's such a time as this is what the Bible would say. But I had three things that I wanted to talk about. The first one is that all that we see from police reform, all that we see from defund the police. All this stuff is all rooted in a lie. It all came from a line. It all came from a freaking lie. Not rooted in truth, not rooted in any real evidence, not not in any evidence due to research, not any evidence due to people's firsthand knowledge of these incidents. A complete lie. The second one is fatherless homes. I know that people talk about it a lot, but you just wait until I give you some of the stats that I had researched. And you will understand why a lot of people are speaking about fatherless homes and telling you time and time and time again that it is an incredible issue in our country that we're facing today that if we can fix if we can make right, we will see a tremendous change in America. We see a tremendous change in inner city communities. And the last pillar of concept was that you can be whatever you want to be in the United States of America. If you work hard, if you put God first and you know, if you have enough faith to believe, you can accomplish anything. Your color is not an obstruction. You know, your background is not necessarily an inevitable obstruction. If you put in the work and you believe in yourself, you put God first and everything that you do, you can accomplish great things, no matter where you start from. IE, Ben Carson and I can name a whole bunch of more people that have had that experience.

Warner Brothers Has a Big Decision to Make About Ezra Miller

"Speaking of badass, I shouldn't say that because he's not a badass. Let's just call him an ass. Ezra Miller, I've talked about him for the last couple of weeks. This is the guy that plays the flash Ezra Miller is a terrible person. He's been arrested and, you know, cops have been after him from anything from kidnapping to shoplifting to assault in Vermont in Hawaii. He's a real prick, but he's the flash. And Warner Brothers, even though they got rid of batgirl and the Scooby-Doo movie, they made no bones about we're keeping the flash and you stalked going, well, what does this guy have to do to lose the movie? Now Warner Brothers has a decision to make. About the flesh. And this is the last time I'm going to talk about it, but there's three options Warner Brothers has. In one scenario, the crazy Ezra Miller, with the support of his mother, I'm not going to say their mother, I refuse to do the pronoun bullshit for non binary people I refuse to do it. So forget it. His mother, who's currently with him, in the first scenario, Ezra Miller should seek professional help and maybe, you know, give an interview at some point, explaining his erratic behavior of the past few years, then they could do like a limited press for the flash sort of thing and the movie would open and send him as planned. That scenario number one. Scenario number two is Ezra doesn't seek help. Maybe they can release the film in theaters as planned, but Ezra would not have a prominent role in terms of marketing and publicity. So you see the movie, he's not going to go out there in front of the movie and talk about it and publicize it. No, no talk show appearances, et cetera. And maybe they recast future flash films. Actually, they would have to. Third scenario, the situation where Ezra Miller deteriorates even further, which is not out of the question. This would see Warner Brothers killing the movie outright because it can't be reshot with a different actor at this point. Ezra Miller plays multiple characters and he's in almost every scene, so we're talking about scrapping a $200 million film, which would be unprecedented.

Warner Brothers' 'Bean Counters' Scrap Batgirl

Warner Brothers' 'Bean Counters' Scrap Batgirl

"Warner Brothers scrapped batgirl and the Scooby-Doo movie Scoob!. Holiday haunt. Which, I don't know who the hell's gonna see that movie outside of your young kids, but this cancellation by Warner Brothers, these were made for HBO Max streaming movies and they were both scrapped. And that came as a shock to the town. Then there are several schools of thought here, but this move announced to a big rejection of WarnerMedia's strategy to make original $70 million live action and animated films directly for HBO Max. So the makers of batgirl, live action batgirl, and the animated Scoob!, they found out the other day that those films were being stopped in their tracks, the timing is really weird and awkward for batgirl that directors ideal are being Bilal fala, both in Morocco for one of their weddings. How's that for a wedding gift? Your movie's not gonna be aired with scrapping, it's done. Forget all the work that you did the last year and a half. And they are expected to return to the cutting room and continue to work on this film, but no, so them Leslie grace the star, J. K. Simmons, Brandon Fraser, and Michael Keaton as Batman, all that work down the tubes. They got paid, but still. Initially, there were cries that the scrapping of batgirl was bad optics because the title role is played by a Latina. Doesn't look that when you scrap a movie with a Latina in the lead. But there were reasons for the move and in both cases the filmmakers would tell that it came down to a purchasing accounting maneuver available to Warner Brothers discovery because the company had changed hands and also changed strategies from the previous regime. This always happens. It's a pain in the ass. I hate when creativity is killed off by the bean counters upstairs.

"There's Popeye have to be Latino going down the road. What are we doing? I got no problem with this South Asian lead. I don't care. I just won't watch the show. I watched Awkwafina show Nora from queens. She's an Asian lead. It was an animated, but I thought that was very funny. Her grandmother at home, the whole cultural thing with Chinese people. I thought that's a funny show. So I watch a show, doesn't matter where the person is from. Just don't change the shit that we already have established. Be more creative. It doesn't make you creative to take a show that's a cartoon that's existed in popular for decades and go, I'm gonna create a show and make Popeye fucking Mexican. All right, and then why? He doesn't need spinach eats beans. What is it that you're gonna do? We get it. I have no problem. But South Asian lead, I really don't. First of all, can I be honest? I hate the fact that India is close South Asia. I know it is. I just hate it. To me, India is its own confident. I know it's not, but to me it is. I never accept when someone's ending and they're called Asian. I can't. They're completely different people. Just complete. Go around Europe. Europeans look European. Everybody looks. But India inside China that fucks me up. What's more, telling people you don't care about how they feel or what they think. It's hardly inspiring confidence in the show. Every major failed project usually starts with people believing they're right and the entire fan base is wrong. And most shows fail. And by the way, did anyone even ask for a show about velma? And if they did, why does it have to be so mature and contain nudity and and here's the real rub, it doesn't have Scooby doing it. So why is anybody gonna watch this? I mean, do you want to see dumb without Scooby-Doo? We've been dealing with these new casting decisions for a few years now and they're gonna, they're gonna happen over and over again and I've been wrestling with these dilemmas for a long time. And I've come to this decision. And maybe you can join me. When these things pop up and they start to bother you. Don't go and have a full numbers breakdown. As you can tell, I'm coming in normal. Don't go and have a full nervous breakdown. No need to go deep into the desert on a spiritual quest. Or travel the globe twice. There's no need to hold multiple seances and consult the ghost of all the great thinkers and philosophers of the past. What you should do is what I will do from now on. Which is to just never watch a second of these shit shows or movies as long as you live. Can you promise me that? That might be a good way to go down this. I'm AJ Benz, that was your free show. Why Mindy Kaling's South Asian Velma Won't Hit Home

"Mindy Kaling. The actress who won't tell us who the father of her baby is, but we all know it's a former costar. B. J. Novak, she has created a Scooby-Doo animated spin off velma for HBO Max and she's making velma a South Asian brown skin girl. And she doesn't give a shit. Who doesn't like the idea? She said, if a dog can solve crimes and thelma can be brown. Hopefully you'll notice my velma is South Asian, she said, and the people freak out, I just don't care. You know what make you freak out? Mindy, your purple gums. I don't like your purple gums. That make me a bad guy? Just being honest. Well, good. I'm glad you don't care because not many people are going to care for your show. Velma, which will be animated and for adults. HBO Max is going to expand their adult animated programming. Velma tells the origin story of velma dinkley. Not really a name for a South Asian, but whatever. Velma dinkley, the unsung and underappreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo mystery ink Yang. And after the animated show was announced, Twitter blew up with openly racist complaints about caving new project and some people pointed out how making velma into a studious Asian nerd also plays into stereotypes. Listen, this is the thing. I hate that it has to be a race thing. I really do. I just, I don't like them changing characters from what they are in the first place and have been for decades, to me it's very off putting. You can't make a new character. There's Popeye have to be Latino going down the road. What are we doing?

AJ Benza on Predicting Rhianna's Son's Birth

"How do I pound it back for me telling you guys two and a half weeks ago that Rihanna would give birth to a first child on a Friday. Now it's been almost a week when we finally gotten word from Rihanna and her cheating baby daddy ASAP Rocky that they did in fact welcome a baby on May 13th, Friday the 13th. Like I said, it's a boy, but no word yet on what his name is gonna be. And since I was spot on predicting the day the kid was born, let me now say that I predict the boy's name will start with the letter K or a I'm sure we'll find out in a few days. Don't ask me why, I just feel that now how do I know the baby was going to drop? Well, I saw a picture of her in ASAP Rocky walking out of Giorgio Baldi, very fancy restaurant. She had a crazy ass outfit, a little kind of mini skirt, very revealing top, her belly was out. I actually seen enough of that. If I was a woman I'd want to protect that, I don't know why they leave it out there all the time. It's a little bit too much for me. But it was out, sticking way out. You know, like my mother's dead. And all the paparazzi was snapping away because if you want to be snapped, just go to judge a Baldi dressed like that, and they'll come running. But I saw the pick, which ran may 8th, and I said, Friday's a day. She can't go many more days like this. She looked like she's ready to explode. And I've gotten tired of seeing a dress like that. I'm glad she had the kid

Alrighty, well, we're going to take a quick break and then we're going to get back to the work. Actually, wait, no, we missed one event because we didn't really think there was going to be another one. And this one won't technically be next week, it'll be the week after, but Sony is having an event on the 26th. And I have Sony. Wait a minute, Sony makes phones? Yeah. Sony makes phones? That you can actually afford to buy? Like, what's up? So this is a Sony Xperia of a product announcement, and they're being quite vague with this. So they don't explicitly say smartphone anywhere, and the promotional image for it is just, please join us for an event. It's the most generic product announcement you could possibly hope for. Oh, I don't know. That Samsung announcement was pretty vague. Yeah. But you know, we haven't heard anything that would suggest it's an experience when Xperia is their smartphone brand. But at the same time, we haven't heard anything that's leaked that we would usually expect if something interesting was coming up. So it's a bit of a mystery. Wouldn't it be cool if we got another PlayStation phone from them? No, no. I reviewed that ten years ago. No, it would not be cool. Oh, come on. There's gonna be versions of it that could be cool. If they made an Xperia that was also a new Playstation Vita or something. I would totally buy that. Yeah. There's ways. We live in a world where the Nintendo Switch is a thing in a very popular thing. I could see PlayStation trying to get in on that and being like, okay, we make large phones already that nobody really wants to buy now, but if we turn it into something PlayStation, people will. Make they could even include like that controller I got the game sir. You know what? Yes, it looks like a switch. Throw it in the box and here you go. Here's your vitaphone, enjoy. Not impossible, but I think again, it's like if it was something that interesting, it would have leaked, you know, the only industry for sure. Then the smartphone industry is the gaming industry. We would have heard something if something like that was coming. Yeah. This is why I mean, we all just we just kind of ignore Sony most of the time because whenever they announce a phone, it's either going to be late by 6 months or it's going to be prohibitively expensive..

"What they did in this movie. so from. Who's standpoint these monsters were created right lane the tar monster and like the black knight and they like wanted to live and they had a purpose in scooby and shaggy kill them. I basically like turning the switch turn back into goo didn't to be turned back in gu. I was kinda weird like i. Is there ethics creating life and then just taking it like that. We'll probably two different questions. Yeah one what's what's the ethics of creating mice and what's the ethics of taking my way. Yeah they weren't tax payer so i actually think that the second question is the less interesting because everybody thinks about that everybody thinks out you know extra judiciously right i you know. People about vigilantes and these people have allies of these buds. What the first question. What's the ethics of life things of bestowing sentence. So mum my maybe my position would be. Is it unethical to have the power to bestow sentence and not do so and not do so. Do we define them. In our view of this guy as sentient they had had some level of personification. They remembered their abilities from when they were on ghost. But in general they had the malicious intent of their creator. We don't know if they have any goals outside of those things to beat tar on gandhi monster. Didn't wanna get getting anymore. Yeah cavities they want a world. Where monsters lived you know. They just wanted to live man so like to have this like consider it another way. Consider that this person who can make monsters might be the last person who can make monsters if we stop him. There's going to be at no more sentient monsters. And therefore is it actually okay for him to carry out his mission through any means necessary. Because if he doesn't that means the extinction of an entire species monsters. That's yeah when you're when you're faced with extinction question again all ross Scooby doo didn't have a legal scene. And i think for. Scooby doo three. This would be a great opportunity for a courthouse. Seed is discussing The legal ramifications in the citizenship rights of these monsters. Who are actually kinda was a couple of smaller ones right so like the whole criminal justice things one thing but then also there was a weird like property rights investment negotiation scene where one was pitching the idea for an amusement park to a couple of angel investors. Place that was he was like. Oh yeah the kids will mind in the park and make us actually to a park. Where you're like. The whole thing is mining weird nevada. We place so we. I feel like the world at large would have a pretty difficult time reacting anyway but poorly to the monsters because they were created with the intent to destroy so morally. The a compass Points you towards probably destroying the evil like humans created destroy jas. Yeah that and that way you could have rationalize or justify the beliefs of some people who think all evil so perfect. When does in a chat bot sentient everbod is not sentient. i will never allow. It can respond to questions you interact with it much like these monsters. Who were designed to destroy by their creator. The the one difference is substance..

The clown slips on a banana peel. It's not funny. But like the thirtieth time. It's fucking hilarious. Maybe that's what happened here. The jokes were so stupid at economy off guard. I'm so used to just talk all dry humor now. Like the would fred. Would miss speak to the news. Reporter and his speech is played over like on the news. You say cools sucks. I think they'll sucks me. Special joke was that they didn't have to edit his speech at all actually said about morality bigs to chop it up. We're gonna be looked like things. I didn't wanna say cougville sucks i love. There's so many quotable lines. Slapstick was great too. I think at seeing that interesting. Where scooby shaggy are being pulled by the pterodactyl and there's like the flames on the table and they're like riding on like frying pans on their buds across the flames. I think once that scene happened. I was like okay. I'm totally on board with this movie. Now we're doing this movie. I have a special. I want to tell you guys about. And this is what i was so excited about when i watched this movie last week He'll notice something. That i am so excited to share with you to you especially denali because jason is going to be someone of innocent bystander. This but i'm going to attempt to share a couple of photos with you of a meat fact or a neat feature. I noticed in the movie. And i want get interesting. Okay discreet chat. Let me see what you're sending me Gosh that's got to be the same model for a split stack and will actually. That's this. it's actually the same paint to it's it's it's just worn down. You guys are for the people that are listening. I'm having. Allie sent me a guest about a month ago and it was a wooden an antique wooden duck. And what i found when i watched this movie. Is that for a second. That exact duck in scooby doo. Who ted smokey grey away. God you know like for split-second they threw it in this pile of stuff and reverts camera angle can see it for like a little bit also and we found the freeze frame for it. And i'll go stand up. Get the duck right now. Who might gosh. Oh there he is. So i've kept it in the back of the shot until now but this is the duck okay for our youtube watchers. You'll see the duck podcasters. Check out our youtube channel or the for for the veal or you can watch scooby doo two and see the duck and just seeing the duck out of the movie. Yeah yeah but you can actually see like the paint. Is the right color on duck in the movies. Exactly the same. And there's like these little wingtip things here i that's the only thing that's different. Last wingtips yeah so. The only only only difference is that this stripe of white paint is likely different on the two them but otherwise same exact duck and now if you go onto google images or ebay or whatever and you look up antique wooden duck decoy or number. There will be haters pages and pages ducks okay. Have this model or similar kind of ideas..

This week i can I can go through the synopsis. A- will think about go through the synopsis. i will go. I will go through the synopsis about where to start fellous. scooby doo. Two monsters unleashed came just about a year or two Two thousand four after the very successful first. Scooby doo movie is takes place. Just maybe about in real time right after a bad first movie The mystery gang are celebrities. Now in cools ville. They're known as the greatest detectives they're attending the opening of the cool sonian museum where it's gonna feature all of the the great Criminal costumes of which they've caught Minor forty or you got the fucking entire monster you got all these really cool previous. Scooby doo villains in this museum. And then what's this costumes. Come to life thanks to an evil mad scientists who they think Was a was a former or cooperative. There's he's using his magical monster. Gouda create real versions of Of these these costumes that they've caught so now. The gang has to stop every single one of the previous monsters that they have allegedly fought all trying to find out who this mystery guy is with his mystery. Monster goo hijinks to happen along the way. And i think that just about covers. The movie is just kinda actually really maxed. Now yeah good yeah. That's that's my style as well like i like your walk up and you know what like i. I didn't expect this guys. I think i liked this better than the first one. Yeah yeah definitely and we're probably going to talk about this a lot more. This movie felt like way. More of a. Scooby doo movie. Like ryan predicted it. They leaned like maybe just one dial on the one notch on the dial towards caves movie. And i think it totally worked young. The they played up the comedy. The scooby doo the hanging out in like haunted houses. Doing gags and i think it was to its benefit. It was less of like you know like the scary movie. Ask parody in more of just leaning into a. Scooby doo movie. You can tell the people who made this love. Scooby doo in really played up that premise. They did not give a fuck about making a realistic movie. It's just like a live action per tune in tokyo. I was totally airport. Adding to the cast was set green. I think it was a great choice. here's larry. Yeah always performs well. And he's a great character accurate but it's not. he's not a character but he does that job as well. Yeah you have a two thousand finest in here. I got scooby doo cast yet fragrance. Junior you know you get a linda carlini. Of course the rest of them. We talked about last episode. We got seth green. We've got alicia silverstone From from clueless which is a movie. I love you've got..

Doo franchise a little bit mark. Sensibly than what. I wanted to have the first one i think there. I remember more from the scooby doo. Monsters unleashed as a child which may be more indicative of something. I remember more haunted house scenes. Yeah be more scooby. Doo seems rather than right teenagers at a party scene british. There's a bar in one scene. Pretty i think that was the where shaggy scooby. I've become smart from drinking. Potions i remember. That was funny. When i was eight over that one note but i'm excited alright. Baby scooby doo two. Monsters unleashed Man i didn't i wasn't ready. We pitched a pretty good movie way. Did it again think. That's that's the plot from all fifteen seasons of the tv show supernatural is like i would five dogs proving out is on it. I mean not that exact floor. But that's the idea. I watch every fucking episode. Scooby doo episode dude. They go into the scooby doo. I was episodes. Hold on is that. Is that for rails now now harrison serious. They actually have a scooby. Doo supernatural crossover. That's amazing what the fuck. Why wasn't this. Like why was the press alerted man. I feel like i didn't get any notifications. It's a special treat. It's a special treat for those people who in twelve seasons. Yeah god man. All all five of a man i gotta give him something a frigging bone. Okay you guys you guys want to actually review this movie now. Jas you want to start off with their dog o. It was tough it was. I think we'll vomit is gonna be different moving forward because of it because of what happened there. So we're gonna have to. It's a it's a brave new wolf. Commodore now so yeah i think i think scooby gave it his best shot. I think he improved a lot of the lines in these scenes with shaggy. Del you know and you could really feel the tension when he'd when when scooby told that it's mama cat poop you know he was a fantastic. He skateboarding you know he can. We we can talk about say. Are these movies. Just get harder and harder every fucking time especially when it's not totally dog century. This is scooby. Doo movie about scooby doo. But do is the mystery inc right. Let's think it's like kinda shitty that fred is like. Hey let's split up. And he's like all right. Daphne and velma come with me to normal people and then shaggy go with your dog. I just think they're really mean to shaggy e contributes a lot of the group in go. But with your fucking dog and know dude. It's their bullshit at makes the makes the mystery solved. 'cause they're always going in opening the eight-year-old fridge and eating a big old turkey thing and then the ghost shows up after the ghost is a funny thing in france. Like oh why are you guys cottam That's that they're formula is that they just let this guy go like the stone or do go with his dog in this house in the mystery get solved. Most mr soft you guys like. I don't want to give away the secret of the justice system. Yeah but most crimes are actually solved by Stores going to buildings that was actually like my next note here. 'cause i was gonna ask you about what you think about is team vigilantes who go out and my question to you. Too was part of the justice system. Is this movie implicate. Because we haven't gotten there. There was only maritime. Law is there is a little bit of there was a little bit of animal control to at the end but was anything and done in the scooby doo movie. Yes okay though a man who kidnapped and held against as well for three hours. Salt probably didn't grant auto destruction of the gang destroyed a lot of property. Falsely impersonating coast guard officer said his name was kayla. Didn't didn't say his goes to said the view is in. This is the building which the coastguard name is on in my name on my driver's licenses caleb. It's also like the coast guard. Have a number like yeah. Yeah i don't know it. I don't could you just fucking call six one. Three not really a coastguard number. Yeah i know. Save that for later. A is like there's in the beginning of the movie chasing down this ghost who's supposed to be actually like a huge part of the movie and i think they cut it cut around it Where it's like that big marshmallow ghosts. Who's like a floating man right. He's trying to like scare people. The property value goes.

Yeah they like winning the fight. 'cause clifford we're not doing dogfights ryan we we've we've done tony fly bys and so we're going to do best best dog and we're gonna do best movie best in show. Thank you go back to scooby too. I thought there was a lot of really great quotable lines in this movie One of my favorite was just kind of like a throwaway moment. Where i think we're mary. Jane calls the coastguard because of the monsters in the coastguard answers the phone. He's like coastguard. This is caleb fucking okay actually do. I had that scene written down five minutes. And that's what was what happened. Like she called the coastguard. The coastguard was evil. It was like a fake coastguard. Go away by the here. And then scooby doo actually win the crew. Actually there was. No payoff just went to sleep and then woke up the next day. Okay maxine please. I thought they'd get kidnapped by the here. And i think is just the whole area reset right. We're reimagining this material. Completely from the get-go i- teenagers one band rather dan rather than than being like. Oh the we know lord of the rings movies are normally live action. We made to we made to live action more. The rings movies. Let's make return of the king animated with a funny dog like that and that way it would just be like an entrant. I go like an entry in the series. And that's what this salt lake and entering the series with there's randomly decided to make one live action. Yeah maybe maybe i'm just. I was think. I was fine with that Just because of how ubiquitous. Scooby doo is in her. Crashes yeah and you putting millions and millions of dollars into making like a huge live action moving. You wanna make it like. There's took off the wall. If he took. Scooby doo script off the wall along with her. I think art of it is the uncle ben. It's kind of like the uncle. Ben where how many times you need see uncle get shot in the spiderman movie until you already know that going in and i think they said unless you're like a baby who just hasn't seen scooby doo which is entirely possible entirely possible for the target demographic maybe they're operating on the assumption is like we don't need to spend the money you introduce these characters but who knows maybe it would have been more narrative. Lee strong movie though to your point. Yeah mcgauran saying it's like it's fine as scooby doo movie. I don't know about like as a movie. Yeah maybe that's my with this is that i'm seeing it as a scourge. Do movie you know. Maybe this is how other people saw to where you have this. Mythos scooby doo. You have these expectations and they got subverted. And that's what made the movie fund for me. Maybe there's some do-doesn't fuck no what that ip is. Maybe i wouldn't like this. I wouldn't have had fun with it. Who the fuck us. Now scooby doo we. That's not really my point. My point is people not enough people. Know about who. Scooby doo doo. "To continue. The issue that i'm talking about is more along the lines of think about that actors right about hollywood in general like you give this scooby doo script to a bunch of men and they're making a movie like yeah and let's let all the iconic female characters does dress scantily clad completely unecessarily was do a whole bunch of short skirts. Let's point the camera up them. Like at some points you go. It was really weird. Not even like okay get. This is made for adults and so they're dressed like a adults. They weren't dressed normal dolts. There is scenes where within seen an actress change to a low cut shirt if she was doing something like running around. Or you know if there was an actress in where she was being carried and she's horizontal cameras pointing at her face slash spotty and she would switched like a low cut shirt and then the next thing should be back wearing. Yeah i think that gets back to your point earlier about. This was a radar comedy. One point for adults. And i think armies of that era there was a lot of sex i think they even said they cut out a ton of sex jokes this movie and then they even in. Cgi over so. I think that's a remnant of that rut. But like i totally understand. It's just so so blazed. It's one of those things where when you're watching it at the time. Oh they're trying to fresh in. Scooby doo trying to modernize it trying to make teenage guys see it. Then when you're watching it through the lens of what is really really misogynistic and really really like dory. It's weird just so out of place. And like i guess for me. It's like not scooby. Doo was holy territory. But it's just like they're doing it here a busy time doing it. Yeah and i. I go to your say. A man I i definitely raise a little bit of an eyebrow with me But i'm just i think i was in the mindset of like yeah this is this is two thousand and two. It's probably going to be a remnant of like scary movie and it was like kind of those that type of humor. Do watch this with your significant others. Yes i was wondering because like julie pointed out a lot to me. And i had this. I was keeping track of all the weird stuff muscle skimpy clothing. Or you know down shirt shots at the that the that there were out there and there was too many though i lost track at eleven leavitt shots ryan. You're supposed to be looking at the dog. You sick fuck no. That's exactly what i'm talking about. It's like these scenes in which nothing is happening. Because it takes away the action from ryan as the narrator here. So i don't know how the scene is being built all right. I'll halloween swimming a different way system. Jason having a lot of conceptual problems with my premise. Would i i guess okay okay. They were murdered. Forget to it about the murder because that's already probably pretty really scary for. Cross-Cultural Casting: Noteworthy for Hollywood, but Not Exactly New

"About unconventional casting choices in film and TV. My dear sister No holds a loose tongue in her head. So does this sort of diverse casting violate some unspoken rule about realism critic Bob Mondello takes a long view, he says. It's a Broadway musical, famous not just for putting hip hop in the mouths of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington but for matching black and brown faces to those historic white characters. Every time I write a piece of theater, I'm trying to get us on the board Latino composer lyricist Lin Manuel Miranda, speaking with fresh air's Terry Gross, black and Brown artist. This is a story of America, then told by America Now it's our country to with inclusion as Hamilton's calling card, diverse audiences made it a worldwide phenomenon, an outcome that seems natural. In retrospect, but that flew in the face of decades of theater practice in 1986. When the stage union actors equity convened the first national symposium on nontraditional casting. It noted that more than 90% of actors hired in the U. S were white and presented scenes designed to help theatre makers consider other possibilities. In Tennessee Williams's

Wuhan Lab Leak

"The meeting The Liberals are like, Oh, my gosh, there could be something to that. There was something to it months ago. You guys and ladies missed it because you chose to miss it because you chose to be Don't be. I was going to say something else, but sadly, we're subjected to FCC rules. Right, Jim? I'm pretty sure We gotta be careful, James. I gotta dump. I can't take it. We do about this story? So we played some video and audio how the left again falls into this trap all the time. We're going. What do you mean, really? Scooby? They just found out now that this Corona virus could have leaked from a lab. How well, it happens because of group thinking what the media does to promote groupthink. Our entire group. Think something this fake. One of them we talked about was the alleged certainty fallacy. Alleged, certainly where the media claims something's been proven and fact check something, if as false when there's no such certainty on it. They did that with the lab leak theory. Utopia

Wet Notes 5-6-2021

"This is wet. Notes here on scooby. Shock radio for may six two thousand and twenty one. I want to start off today with a story. That is a bit of personal meaning to me. And that's a story about what some recreational divers found while diving out in hawaii. Awful and i. Now i have quite a few dives out there. Awful and i and these divers found some unexploded world war two era ordinance. They found two bombs. One was at seventy four feet and the other one was at ninety four feet. The divers immediately notified to hawaii division of aquatic research. Who went out to investigate it and confirmed it was unexploded ordinance the report indicated that the munitions were about three hundred yards offshore. The exact location wasn't disclosed when but it may be in the area of the first and second cathedrals again personal for me. Because i have probably about at least twenty. Five dives onto cathedrals as of now. There aren't any more updates and there was no mention on the divers website and they run many charters out to the site. Let's see where this goes. I recently checked out the four ocean blog to see if there was anything of interest will there was a lot but one thing did pique. My interest for ocean occasionally does a blog on plastics around the world. And that's where they identify articles or stories that talk about the plastic crisis facing the world. Now one article was from interesting engineering and it was written by deora as deamer and this was about plastic eating mushrooms. Yes certain types of fungi can ingest and eat plastic apparently in two thousand eleven some yale researchers discovered rare mushroom in the amazon forest and it was able to digest and break down plastics. One of the scenarios suggest that these plastic eating mushrooms could be placed at the bottom of landfills interesting over the years. There have been various successful experiments. So what's the holdup perhaps speed. It takes times for the mushrooms to eat and digest the plastic and there's also competition for other investment now. Here's a bit of disturbing news that i saw from dima apparently there's going to be a virtual meeting of the florida fish and wildlife conservation commission or dfw see on may twelfth and thirteenth one of the topics on may twelfth. I think it is a two. Our discussion is to review and update the goliath grouper. Now this review is to look at if they should allow a limited highly. Regulated harvest of the goliath grouper. Why well that's a really good question now if you go out to the f. w. website you'll be able to find a detailed Presentation on this review. Even if the science holds up and supports the harvest. I would have to ask if the enforcement is of a regulated harvest. Dean feels that. The economic value of the goliath grouper are better served without any harvest and continue the protection they currently have. Sos thousand island. Well what's that all about. Well for those of you are familiar with the saint lawrence seaway in the thousand island region. Sos stands for save ontario shipwreck thousand island chapter now. This was reported in scuba news. Sos thousand island wants to create an artificial reef off of brockville in canada. Why are they making such a bold proposal. Were there are three main objectives. I an artificial reef will reduce the pressure on the local historic wooden shipwrecks and then second. An artificial reef can preserve the maritime history of ships that had been destined for scrap and finally this effort will assist the local aquarium in promoting maritime heritage and discovery. This is still a long way off but there is some good news in that day of identified a ship that could be used and it is the former canadian coast. Guard vessel the c. c. g. s. mont. Mandy now this ship was built in one thousand nine hundred sixty three and it was decommissioned and sold in nineteen ninety nine. Let's see where this one goes. Well here's something that. I just saw from patty. I think it was on the patty pro blog. Patty women's dive day. Two thousand and twenty one is coming and the tagline on the blog was celebrate the connection between mandy and the ocean. This year's patty women's dive day is july seventeenth 2021. This event started six years ago in two thousand and fifteen and it was started as a way to encourage more female participation in sport scuba diving to date there have been over four thousand patty women's dive day events in over one hundred countries. I'm sure last year was a little tough to get events planned and executed safely this year. More places are opening and travel is picking up. Everyone can participate be on the lookout for patty women's dive day event in your local area or maybe even travel to a nice destination to participate and finally today. I thought i'd give everyone and update on traveling. To the bahamas. As of may first the bahamas ministry of health has released new guidelines for entry departure. I if you are fully vaccinated for covid nineteen that's two weeks from your final. Does you don't need a covid. Nineteen tests prior to entry. Nor do you need to fill out the daily health questionnaire or get a covert test. After your fifth day on the island. You'll still need to apply for the bahamas. Health visa prior to entry. And you still need to get a covert test before travelling back to the united states. Now we're heading to nassau a may twenty six th so these changes make things a whole lot simpler. Hopefully more countries will open up. Like the bahamas. Well that's it for wet notes on may six two thousand and twenty one here on scuba shack radio

Fault Tolerant Distributed Gradient Descent

"Hello my name is native. And i'm a computer scientist. Gay as opposed to grow researcher at ebay university switzerland. I work on distributed computations. Specifically i work on. Algorithms concerning distribution optimization disrupted consensus and distributed collaborations systems soi robotics and online voting and in this particular eighty of research. I mainly focus on darwin's by indeed for owners many avi considered networks. There's some of the notes in the networks are militias adversarial or they're just forty. And how does this affect the oral fixation off the elegant now. This is something that's interesting to me in my engineering part of the brain working for big company. I'd say well we can control all of our nodes about some rogue employees or something. But i guess outside of a company the world really runs on bigger systems. How common are these sort of peer to peer distributed problems in people's everyday lives definitely. I made for example. Just consider our current situation which is the ongoing pandemic. Let's see your these. Scooby trackers right you have these scored trackers on your phones than you. Are gary these records with the sword these strikers in vancouver you go in close proximity to someone else that say who might annette it or who might in recent history being tested positive so this gives you a notification. Hey you know you gaming on equity this person and he was the best positive so you may want to take some precautions. Analysts say based on these kind of trackers companies and government started building policies. Just imagine how difficult it would be if someone starts messing around for example. Let's say be Falsely claimed themselves as high-risk saying that. I just hires Ever i'm a Is also is that would discreet Rice appear to be systems are already there used is just a v are naively ignoring the fact that some of the notes in the systems be malicious authority. Fonte just like internet. You have millions of notes on the net not everything. Not everything is on the cloud on server controlled by big or big komen administration. They are so many of these notes that are spreading misinformation they have destroying to disrupt the internet for example you might have heard of. Thanks like jamming attacks Jammed the settlers despite sandy query. So you know these kinds of notes vais fairly common in our everyday use in suggests we get to hear them band. There's a big disaster. Or there's an actual big down of these systems when i started learning about distributed computing and of course it was called big data at the time. One of the first examples is term frequencies so in a lot of documents you the percentage of times you see something that often gets labeled as embarrassingly parallel because you just want to frequency. You need the numerator divided by the denominator and it's easy to divide that problem up and rejoin it but not. Every problem is so embarrassingly easy to solve. What about your specific research into gradient descent. What makes that one hard to do in a distributed fashion. You had distributed Any one this networks to be useful to the specific problem. Let's say that you are trying to solve for example as you just mentioned either. You're trying to get the frequency of a border from documents spent on the internet or let's take a step forward but apps you are trying to build some kind of image classified so different notes on the have different data sets. Let's say images of their dogs. And you want to use these images of dogs neck so many images of those who could be a very strong image classic fire for dogs something that would dismantle the human ability declassified at all so you wanna less this complicated Now designing image classified using all these distribution data said on the internet different notes having different data points. It's quite complicated even when you have all the data points at one body a machine. It's a headline. more of the. The sets are divided in different machines so to ensure that comes like these like machine learning run smoothly when certain nodes in the network militias spinal challenging not descending. It's very interesting to study. How these types can be done. Smoothly on gedeon descent is specific That is by far the was algorithm used from sheet lending pieces and what happens ingredient descent. Is you have these different. Data sets distributed on different notes. Therefore defend nodes have different loss functions. Now what we are trying to do now in this district. Setting is minimized the aggregate of all these functions are loss functions. Now when you're doing this by nature the most commonly use angry gradients design. Because it's naturally distributed many obligingly send it just reduces at the gradients of loss functions in each round. Or so if you're learning and gordon to when you're adding these gradients together some notes are not going to provide you ladies of los angeles. They may be forty. May be broadway. You re totally incorrect. Greediest maybe designed maliciously innovate to move you. words solution. that famous day goes data points. They may favor. Let's say dogs of a burglary or some other panels notions. Maybe they want to completely rendered the classification problem useless. They want to maybe instead of dog. Trained you the classify so as you can see ensuring that is reputed gradient descent runs smoothly at least within some reasonable dominates in residents of such Notes is of practically at this point vendor. You have all this The algorithms training using data sets coming from all sorts of people on it.
