Nervous system survival mode and how to get back to thriving with Nathan Chilton
"Thank you so much for coming on the show today. I'm really excited to chat. So i would love you to tell us more about yourself. And what's your story. So how did you come to be where you are today as a chiropractor and wellness coach specializing. In what you do now thinking about me so much pleasure. Well i've always been interested in the human body and a group with mammalian. Sports are always had books around the house and spines nazi books. So i've always had an interest in the human body and chiropractic clay. I was playing basketball blow and my back at the age of seventeen. I think and that was that was my first experience themselves a chiropractor at this point. It was very mechanical pain based approach in late to ron and started studying sports science halfway through degrade house thinking what to do with my life. Decided to apply for chiropractic got into chiropractic in two thousand and eight graduated in twenty twelve on then. It wasn't really until after graduating. I started to really appreciate and understand. What chiropractic is and why would offer to people and it was more of a vied to the stick but wellness approach rather than mechanical symptom approach. So that's how go into chiropractic. And and i'm no back casually been a blessing truly grateful for didn't really say his work which apply lookie lookie and nonsense but it's changed my life but is because of the power and how it changes people's lives basically unease abou the philosophy of chiropractic is. The buddy is able to heal itself. If is in the right environment and the nervous system is the system processes the environment whether it be into entity externally so working with a person with the spine to create ease in the system is balancing not stress. Response the synthetics responds in the parsing responds on. Then when the body's in state it can do wonderful things. So yeah that's how i go into it and that's why. I'm extremely passionate about about the subject about chiropractic. Going back to what you said you know when you thought when you were a teenager and you got injured that it was just you know physical manipulation and stuff like that. I think a lot of people assume that. That's what chiropractic is so talk a little bit more about how let's actually let's start with like what are the biggest misconceptions about the chiropractic. Practice a good way Talk to patients about so car isn't just about and treating pain or treating condition. Yes we can help with. Simpson such babies headaches. Sciatic care and shoulder pain elbow pain. But we all going from the approach of putting the buddy in a state of ease to a healthy function nervous system when your body is more power sympathetic dominant is able to relax digest. Hill undo a supposed to because as a human human beings. We designed to heal in self-regulate designed to accumulate almonds in pain and problems route life and never get better for example. Could you finger hairs on own is no What you need stitches but instead it will halonen starting after the stitches. Aided your you a native to cook. So that's how i explain it. Yes we treat. We help conditions. We don't treat them is the buddy that does the halen when it's in a state of easing and that's why i'm really passionate property. Last two years is the effect of stress and five flyers funds because it's so linked to the function of the spine on a dysfunctional spine can create predominantly sympathetic patterns within the spine whether it be from physical stress emotional stress chemicals stresses they will have a stress on the nervous system. Yes so we talk about stress and the

"Now it's funny because I always GonNa have more round ligament pain in the early trimesters But it would not. I think we're I experienced at the most but it would be probably the opposite for the majority of females as the baby grows is placing a strain on correct correct. Yeah so especially with first pregnancy. Most people do experience more round ligament pain the farther into pregnancy. That they get However I would say with subsequent pregnancies people feel it a lot more earlier on and missile because people can recognize what the pain is and remember how it feels and Johnny recognizes to right so it actually and a lot sooner yes exactly saw me more sense? Yeah yeah around looking at pains not fun and one of my girlfriends works in the Er and she said that it's one of the number reason number one reasons that regmunt ladies come into Er is is because they. They think that they're miscarrying. Because the cramps were the stabbing pain just a growth happening and then triggering a lot of rounds ligament pain MHM Yeah it can be really really scary or people can take their going into like early labor. Like it's it's no joke and people. I think like right the office being like. Oh that's just a little round ligament painter. Braxton Hicks contraction and it's like no that's very real and intense pain for a lot of people and it is intense. I think people forget. Forget that pregnancy because being pregnant is just yet you're pregnant but no ex- very uncomfortable. It's not I know some people everyone's like oh the miracle of life life talk to my clients pregnant stocks Yes admit that it's not always awesome. That was me I was like. `I kudos anyone money. Who enjoys being pregnant? It is just not my favorite place to be yup an okay. So on that note of uncomfortable ness talks me about SCIATICA Atika so this is another really really common issue dwell. You're pregnant and when that causes a lot of pain of females so oh SCIATICA is against kind of one of those general terms. There's a few ways that it can happen so anybody listening. That's not familiar. A sciatic pain typically we starts from around your tailbone and goes through the gluts in the butt cheek and down the leg so for some pregnant. Oh they might experience. This is only staying local to the gluts. Somebody will feel it. Shoot all the way down totally depends how much compression or is so SCIATICA is compression of that sciatic nerve so so typically. What's doing this is our pure form muscle? Because as I know here miss massage does not ever feel super fabulous. No no words. It feels fabulous. But why does typically happens is because as you're growing your belly not only our ligaments changing and relaxing in the pelvis pelvis and spreading things open but typically as the bump grows bigger our center of gravity changes. We start to archer back when we walk and the feet beat. Start to turn out. So when you get that little dock walk that things get risky for developing SCIATICA and that's because you imagine your seat are straight out in front of you you and if you turn your feet out you're looking like a Ballerina and just your hand on your butt. Cheek there and feel how everything tightens up. So as we're doing external rotation there it's contracting are pure form muscle so it's like you can imagine if your neck was always kinked to one side right. That side is just going to get tighter here in tighter. And you're probably gonNA experience numbness and tingling and that's what's happening essentially west. The gluts is. They're tightening up from that duck waddle and then the peer the SCIATIC nerve going through the peerformance muscle Trinidad's a airs weeds on it And it doesn't want to let go unless we're actively ably working it out stretching film rolling at trying to correct the posture of how you're walking So so it's much easier to prevent SCIATICA than it is to treat it is super treatable while pregnant but it's something you have to stay consistent with typically once you develop sciatic diabetic pain during pregnancy. It's GonNa kind of have flare ups for the rest of pregnancy and sometimes beyond so if you're pregnant and you're listening to this do some pure formats stretches foam roll out your gluts got to that space But massage is basically working to lengthen and along that peerformance performance muscle to take pressure off of this. I added nerve so what we WANNA do is just get it back to that relaxed state get some length going in it again and so that it's relaxed taxed and not putting that pressure right on the SCIATIC nerve which is causing that it can be like sharp shooting pain down the leg some people. It'll give them like numbness kind of feel like they get up and then they're gonNA fall over their legs. Just GonNa give out so massage indefinitely. Have that working through the SI joint trying to release some of those ligaments is in the post earier chain of Fasha. It's all connected right can also help and then being diligent with stretches at home like is is also very important but A lot of people. I'd say like the number one complaint of pregnant people that come in is either sciatic pain or low back pain of some sort so it can be very helpful. It's just staying consistent My rule of thumb and I know a lot of other arm teas that work in the prenatal fields rule of thumb is. You should be getting a massage as often as you're seeing your own beer vice so in the beginning phases of pregnancy a little bit less but as you get more pregnant needs every two weeks not last month every week just to really stay on top of things because things change a lot quicker the more pregnant that you get you might not experience I oughta go for the majority of your pregnancy and then at the very end be like Oh crap doc. What is this sharp shooting pain? That's making you want to cut off my legs and it really is terrible Now I was lucky enough not to have it too up too badly and I think intravenous because I am really big foam. Roller and the other thing is is seen osteopaths during pregnancy. Even see too so she kind of helps set things where they should be do. You typically tend to jam my SI joint all the time when she gets annoying but yet sciatica pain is. I think one of the number probably the second reason pregnant ladies feel he'll discomfort. I'd say the first is definitely lower back pain. And I'd say it's a bit of a conundrum because for low back pain. You do WanNa keep the gluts strong to help support the hips widening and the baby bump but with strong lutes. You also want to keep your hips mobile. So that they're not impinging. On the SCIATIC ner the balance. Yeah I think it just goes hand in hand and it's something that you have to focus on both sides in order to have the least amount of pain. Yeah totally is the best way I can explain it and then I also wanted to chat about swelling so this was one of the reasons that my girlfriend started started seeing her. RMT while she was pregnant she was having twins so there's but she was also having a really really wicked time with swelling of her lower body and in my experience massage. Therapy is always helps to that because it improves a little bit circulation. I'm assuming you see a lot of prenatal clients who are hoping to reduce a bit of swelling pain. Yes totally and I always like to remind everyone to the. It's good to have a little bit of swelling that extra fluid is kind of helping the body to soften and expand so it's normal swelling falling But when we get to that a Dima it is nice to cover massage and trying to work everything out And there's so many things that can affect swelling right whether it's hormones or the growing uterus like everything is yet everything is changing so there's technical. MLD which is manual will embody drainage that. I believe. We're all trained in school. I'm not sure if that was a fanshawe specialty. But it's exactly what it sounds like. We're manually early. Pumping the lymphatic system. Which is where we got our spelling to return everything to heart so manual drainage and cupping actually are what I like to use is on pregnant people to With swelling in the ankles and I will take just for listening cupping. When you're pregnant is very different from when you are not not pregnant? Mind you touched on that because I was thinking of regular cuffing like Oh my God. You wouldn't be leaving with the big red circles. Yoga go gentle cupping. So it's using. It's almost more of a suction cup rather than if you've had copying before you know like a pumping were whether it's you know so it's very gentle But with both of them it's very gentle techniques to try and move fluid back up and encourage the body to open the watersheds which is basically we are main hubs of our our lymph nodes and where the lymph is flowing through to get everything pumping backup because especially in the pelvic region as things are growing it puts pressure on these like lymph nodes and then makes it hard for the body to pump it backup stamos circulation which is why people get a Lotta varicose veins in their league's spider veins. Because it's just a lot harder when you're pregnant to get a return in return for everything to go back up so what we're doing. It really is like just manually kind of trying to the backup. We're the watersheds are so kind of like opening those up to get everything just flowing nicely back back to the heart. Yes so a lot of people as well experienced these falling in the face so massage and facial copping can help with that to help drain rain everything so people that do the swelling in the face can sometimes find. They have like chronic sinus congestion during pregnancy as well which massage can help train and move everything out which is really nice The other thing that I recommend to like every pregnant person is compression songs I'm a certified compression fitter there are a lot of our empties that are actors that are but the compression socks are just helping to physically pump that Levada fluid and circulation backup to the heart. Some someone even just in general that experiences a lot of swelling or Achey legs a lot of women get that kind of restless legs because of our hormones owns in our lack of magnesium a lot of the Times started on the rant magnesium sleepytime spray before bed in every so often will for shakes just bumped up a little bit totally. Yes Oh massaging compression. Everything it just helps to kind of move move everything back up the dry brushing Trying to decrease salt and caffeine intake for pregnant people that have a lot of swelling sach's contributes to it so there as a lot that can be done to help manage the swelling. Of course if your third trimester in the summer you're probably going to have a heart go at things just going to say.
Could the 'fountain of youth' molecule reverse your ageing
"Our guest today says that there is a youth molecule in the human body and he says this molecule of youth happens to be concentrated in our skin hair eyes in joints he says this of substance not only dramatically influences our parents the words how younger how healthy we look but more importantly our physical strength our flexibility and mobility this is our ability to do things let things get around be physical today we're gonna learn more about this once mysterious substance how new breakthroughs are allowing us to get it back and keep it as we get older all right bill Sardis here bill is an author he's traveled around the world in search of information about hyaluronic acid or H. AG is it's sometimes referred to back from his recent trip to a small village in Japan where people maintain high levels of HA and are famous for their ability to defy the aging process bill welcome to the program great to be with you have Pat and all your statements to introduce the show today are certainly not overstatement after years of people using oral hyaluronic acid supplements well of course we're going to give your audience a report today an update and an improvement how things are going as thousands of people have discovered how the support in particular their joints but also their skin and their eyes and of course their hair and so on these are the areas where the body actually is highly concentrated in HA but I want to tell all your listeners to please stay tuned because there's going to be a an offer today from purity products no strings attached this is the offer from a reputable company that's been in business for years yes for five dollars there's no strings attached you get to try a bottle of this wonderful new product and make your life's. all make your supplement regimen simple and save a little money along the way now you see there's a youth molecule in the human body that it holds the key the visible signs of aging now you've written about this you've traveled to Japan to do the research so so tell me about what is what exactly is this molecule you're talking about had it's amazing that most people don't know this word hyaluronic acid and of course it's made its all over our body it's in our skin it's an all natural molecules we can get it orally replace it in our body but more so we've learned that the little bit that we can get as a dietary supplement can trigger your body can make more and of course why do we need more well when we're young we're loaded with this stuff when we're babies we have what we call baby fat it's really baby eight a it it makes well it babies fall down and get cuts and scrapes you notice they never really get any life long scars from that because they have lots of H. A. onboard Hylarana gas that in to make this easy to understand for the audience I think we can all appreciate that women have smooth their skin and thicker hair and so on all of that is because estrogen sends a signal to make more HA and that's why the girls have more limber flexible joints they can get in a kind of a lotus posture kind of that men can't get into that they certainly have all of those advantages and it's because the estrogen sends a signal to make more HA now women have more HA to lose than men do and you see the skin traveling up the joint console on as women age but there's a way to get it back and of course purity products for years now has been talking about HA and they have a new formula just for the joint H. H. joint formula and it's so important today because I think everyone's confused an article in the. New York times says consumers a confused what to do to support their joints to people are looking for alternatives we need cushioning in between the joints the bones in our joint what a doctor looks at an X. ray all he's doing is measuring the space between the two bones there in the knees so it's about a quarter of an inch space without that cushioning you've got bone rubbing on bone that's what H. A. yes it's the Jello or the cushioning agent in between our bones we lose it either due to wear and tear or age and so we start getting problems the more that we find pain relief the more pain relievers we use the more we're going to use these joy and then we're gonna wear out more bone and they've noticed this people who chronically use pain relievers are gonna have more bone where so what you need is the actual cushioning back there to lubricate the joint and that's what HA does that's what HA is the doctors call it synovial fluid they actually inject this into joints orthopedist do dermatologist injected into the skin eye doctors use it as a lubricant during eye surgery so it's nothing foreign to modern medicine but it may be new to you as a listener there and you have never heard about HA before well you need to learn about it it's a wonderful molecule with all natural and you can get it as a dietary supplement purity products was the first to introduce it now it's a great big long molecule path that six million daltons in molecular weight think of six million paper clips put together it's big you can't absorb it and he found a way to knock it down so that it's only about fifteen hundred to three thousand that means that you can absorb this orally we actually prove that in studies conducted at the laboratory right there in Florida and we're gonna tell you more about that but we proved that is poorly absorbed most doctors are told that or. HA cannot be absorbed that's true if it's the regular HA it's gotta be knocked down in molecular weight and more important it needs some other antioxidants that be added with that we're going to talk about one here in just a moment but. product is introducing this all new joint formula for people that are searching for alternative or their joint health and of course this isn't a drug at the dietary supplement meant to of course support healthy joints help as as we think of it just to him we're talking with bill Sarti about Hylarana answered or eighteen a bill you said that recently that the H. a revolution is underway more and more people are using it tell us why AJ is such a breakthrough in what exactly can you do for people I think the brick and mortar and allergy is probably the best for everybody to understand it there are bricks in our body the cell there's mortar in between and the mortar is the collagen now within the college and not the collagen itself vitamin C. makes college but within that collagen there's a moisturizing agent that looks like gel on everyone knows you put some Jello in the refrigerator in the water separates out after a time and that's what's happening in our body we're losing the water holding molecule HA the body is seventy two percent water and if we lose this the connective tissue that connects all of our cell that that connects all of everything that we have begins to lose its water it separates out and then we begin to lose that the substance the scaffolding build the support structure that hold our body together and of course we being given the rankl we shrivel up we lose an engine are high we we see that the brain a shriveled up in the high and so on all of these things occur with age and you know possibly Leon was looking for a used to molecule and he wanted to find it in of course the fountain of youth the water he was looking for a water fountain the body needs water but it has to hold it and of course I want everyone to think of having something like a Jello type of a water balloon filled with Jello or one filled with water which one do you want you want to one filled with Jello because it's still firm but soft and cushioning and that's the way our bodies are when we're young babies or even a pregnant woman is loaded with this which is an example of the how the HA is made more so at certain times of our life but as age goes on we're going to lose it we're going to see the wrinkles thinning hair we're going to see our joints lose their flexibility we're just telling people that after thousands of people try this if you're taking low cost a million supplement it took thirteen years for doctors to adopt Lucassen mean sulfate at the regular dietary supplement now drugstores health food stores people ask me well why haven't my doctor told me about Hylarana Catholic well it took thirteen years for will cost me it'll be on the front page of time magazine it's just gonna take time and it'll get there because patients are gonna take this to the doctors and pointed out as they did glue consummate the revolution starts with patients in people that have issues and want to have healthy joints skin and hair and eyes and want to see some of these useful level the HA restored in their body do you for a great deal about the role of hyaluronic acid in the body's connective tissues how does each a work in the joints and connective tissue it's a natural cushioning age and Pat we're talking to about between the bones it also surrounds the nurses sciatic nerve there's an older nerve there's the carpal tunnel nerve all of these are going to need the special cushioning that HA can give them there are people tell us this stuff works here's Ernie writing to me who's actually peaches and plays golf in Dover Delaware he found this purity joint formula and we're telling you it work miracles for him why because purity is not only taken the HA. but they've taken a brand new substance called Hydroxycut taken from all is that Pat you notice you can put a bowl of olives on your table and a year later come back and except for a little bit of shrinkage due to just the loss of moisture they're very stable they're still there they didn't shrivel up and waste away to the fungal contamination so there's something very strong and all as we've known it for a long time doctor Roberto crea and Italian researchers now here in this country doing some research on hydroxy Tyrus all extracted from olives and found out that it does some of the same things that the molecules do that trigger like estrogen does the production of HA so we began to think why don't we combine this wonderful strong antioxidant from all is in the eighties new HA joint formula you know we're getting results like we've never seen before this is why build writes to us this year thing I'm taking HA for my knees it's done wonders for my joy so we get these letters from people there unsolicited you see this is the kind of thing we hear and of course they're astounded with that they just can't believe it here someone writing to me this is doctor cal least thing he looks like a man that's thirty years younger and he says people can't he believe his level of fitness and youthful appearance and he says I tried to tell him it's just the H. a formula in the course he sent us pictures on the internet how did he looks for his age and you're going to look a little younger because when you were young you had a lot of this now this stuff works fairly quick much faster than Blue Cross to me and it's all safe all natural it's purities H. eight joint

"So to make a long story short two years go by and at this point, I was very docile because they tell me bedrest, stay off stay off your legs because I was having this chronic chronic sciatic pain, and it wasn't into and I gained like forty pounds. Yeah. Was a much fluffier version of me. And being you could take a look at either rip, dude. Thank you. Thank you. But at the time, I really lost my density. I lost my sense of self my residual self image was wasn't what I saw in the mirror, and it just it took two years to see it. And I realized at that point that for those two years I've been giving my power away. And I realized that even though my physician men will he he wasn't walking in my shoes. And I didn't even give myself the opportunity to try to get better. And so I made a decision to get well and Martin most people. Never actually do. It's more wishful thinking like throw it triggered you to go. Like this man for me. It was sitting on the edge of my bed in for me. The biggest struggle. Ironically was my sleep if you're not sleeping. Well, you're not healing. And yes, if I've been changed position, I this side nerve shot down my leg would jar out of sleep. I was terrified. And so I was taking over the counter and pharmaceutical prescriptions leavings calls. Yeah. And I realized that after these two years, nobody was helping me pointing the finger just realized I've been like why isn't this person? Helping me why doesn't this person care, and I never pointed it back to myself, and my grandmother kept calling me, you know, grandma's can be just harassing are you? Okay. So I guess grandma. But I wasn't okay in a finely hit me that she had so much invested in me, and I hadn't been living up to that potential. And so I wanted to do something about it. And so like, I said most a grandmother like that have to Louis most people never decide to get Willis more. Like, I'll give this try. We'll see what happens wishful thinking and the word decision is from the Latin day, meaning from KAI deer. Which means the cut. So when you make a real decision, you cut away the possibility of anything else, but that they are interesting. So I decided to get well, no matter what. And from there. I put together I'm very unethical will go through today, but I put a plan together because it's not like, you decide and then like the clouds part like leprechaun comes out or whatever or Aladdin Latins coming out soon whenever this comes out, but I put a plan together, and that plan until three specific things I changed the way that I was eating which for you. It was maybe two years later came across your work, and this was fifteen years ago. Yeah. And you said the statement food isn't just food is information. Yeah. It baked my noodle changed. Every. And so I asked him under minute question. Okay. My my bones are breaking down my spine is breaking down. What are they made of? Right. What a concept and the big marketing tool is Calcio. Right. It's just marketing it was like two hundred other things and many of them more important than calcium vitamin k to vitamin d magnesium, so forbearing amino acids, all this stuff. I never heard of. And so the first step I did was natural pill-popping. Yeah. Which is not the way to go. Eventually I got to Papa John's pills. A little. You know? And for me, it was I finally got the realization food. I, you know, it has his intelligence I, and that's quite an interesting statement from guy whose life has been focused on exercise. Exactly. And that was the second component was movement. I'd stopped everything. And the worst thing you can do is to do nothing. And so it wasn't just my bones. Atrophying everything else is going to atrophy if I wasn't moving, and here's a crazy thing..

"Two years today we're talking back comardes newborn simulator super tori for training in neonatal care in some of these thank these aren't critical but they are totally applicable to brand new babies for instance one of the things you have here is a urinary catheters eishin so you can learn to categorize the baby exactly because what's taking place at that particular point is you know they're going to start right away when their techniques now such as skin to skin so when a babies born the baby early place right on the mothers skin to ensure that the emotional and physical contact while in the baby's going to start feeding well what if there is a problem what if the baby is not urinating properly super tori does have capability these to be capitalised in addition what if there are critical conditions that require in iv for example and iv can be started on super tori in a variety of places including the scalp also blood flow we need to make sure that the baby's heart is working properly as well so there is a a functionality on super tori called capillary refill time is blood getting to the extremities and is it flowing back to the heart and so she has the capability to provide that information to the caregivers in the room what about color is the baby jaundice storers sciatic we've heard about babies being blue were yellow when they're born likewise she can simulate that condition she can be blue or yellow and that's a signal to the healthcare provider that we need to do something if she's blue she's not getting enough oxygen we need to do something about that if she's yellow we need to get her under lights pretty quickly these scenarios as for instance the blood flow out to their fingertips and back in one of my sense i have a series of pictures as he is born in the first minute and you can just see he started addi was blue with the ins and then you can see is the heart starts beating he's just it goes to blow but of course he he had a totally normal birth and he was totally normal at birth so can we see that on and soup pretoria jam fact what i'm going to simulate now is what's called capillary refill time so we want to be sure that blood is per fusing to her extremities so what i'm gonna do is squeeze her.
