"So speaking of shows sheds creek's not a twenty twenty show. We love it but twenty twenty was like the year of shows i think at least the mandalorian which is probably the one that captured the most Captured me the most this year. Yes so yeah hands down. We got so much this season we got baby. Yoda has the name but he's still baby. Yoda we had awesome. Cameo some killer shots and action and like it made it okay. It may twenty twenty not so bad. Dead ted trying to think of what else it was like so i. I saw some chatter online with lake at sitcom type stuff and sitcoms that are based in our time. A lot of them tackled the whole cova. Quarantine all this stuff and some people were like great. I like it like made it fun. You know lighten the mood and then others were kind of really mad like they did because they watch. Tv to escape reality. So i personally have a problem with it. Because i think it would have felt weird if they didn't address it because they are supposed to take place during like like it's not like it's a period piece or something so yeah no i. It doesn't bother me. One other show that i discovered this year that came out like before the pandemic that i think. Maybe a lot of people don't even know on nbc online. I didn't watch it real time. But i think it aired real time Was zoe's extraordinary. Playlist i've heard of that one. It's i wanted to watch it the music. Oh my goodness is so so good. And it's got it's got an amazing cast so it's got to the girl that plays the lead. Is jane levy but the guy is schuyler aston from perfect forthcoming. love him. He so good lauren. Graham isn't it. And i'm different with her but she can actually sing a little bit rich. I did not know. Oh annex scott alex newell. He prayed unique unbelie and he plays his character's name is mo- maybe i don't know he's super funny brought. He's talented as all. get out. nice but mahanta past is amazing and the story is good and you like music. It's totally a yeah. That's why i was interested in it. That got me through the whole first. Part of the pandemic. So that's it was the toughest. I think right at the beginning. Yes now we've all settled into a rhythm. At least i hope so was hellstrom. Twenty twenty because i watched helter must not runny. Obviously love that one. We eat it like a whole one on a whole upset but we did. We did discuss hellstrom on another bugle all into that because that show is phenomenal. We also wanna know if you think we're horrible people but you'll have to that figure out why we want to know all right..

"Two of the parenting roundabout podcast. I'm Terry Moro and I'm here with Catherine. Her lecco usually on this podcast. We talk about parenting issues but once a week Catherine I like to get together to discuss. Tv movies books and other entertainment topics. Because it's nice to talk about something other than parenting for change this week. We are continuing with our latest show. Watches were catching up with the series Veronica Mars which we missed the first time through and we are watching it with the accompanying podcast for Mars Investigations. But I our new show. Zoe's extraordinary playlist So this week we watched the second episode of CBS Allies. Extraordinary playlist which has been a longtime coming the pilot got released quite some time ago and NBC has been showing yet every possible. Where they can. I think it's been on every channel in the NBC family. It spin on every website possible. It's free everywhere. They're streaming it everywhere. They just WANNA get some eyeballs on this thing. Blaze believes watching. But I gotta think that the people who are into this watched it like immediately and the people who were not into this are never ever going to be into it. Nbc You can stream it on the inside of their eyelids and they are still not going to be there for it. Including of course my husband who likes fled from the room at the mere mention of an. I'm not watching that with you. So you know he did actually stay on the room a little bit and then once people started singing I got the music inmate he was he was all done. He did not have the music indium. Let's just say is the title of this episode. We watched was Zoe's extraordinary. Best friend and I gotTA say man. This shows got enough. Tweet US going against it already. You're really gonNA make everything. Zoe's extraordinary Blairites. Really really. Oh dear seriously. The title makes not that much sense and his lengthy and maybe not the best idea in your doubling the title of our podcast episodes extremely. Does I think we just gotTA START? Start calling it. Just just abbreviate disea- from our even their hashtag. They leave out extraordinary. Yes I saw. That's always placed saw that so you know somebody acknowledges there's a problem but you know there's so much I think maybe we said this the last time that there's so much to pick on and yet I do like musical numbers and they're quite often just adorable in wonderful and yeah I like that. I think I like it better when it's a character that we now mice effective when it's just the random in the coffee shop. Yes I think it's like one hundred fifty percent more effective when it Schuyler Aston doing and yes more numbers by Evans's like Dude knows how to sing dance. Just gotTa say you know. He's really smooth and good at it and other people. Maybe not so much but I enjoy watching him quite a bit. I don't think I've ever see I. I'm aware of had been aware of his existence but never actually seen him at work so he's really gonNA and Pitch Perfect. He was pitch perfect plural. Yeah when into? I looked at wikipedia while I was watching the episode. Like I've heard of this guy. He was also. He was in Broadway on spring awakening when he was quite young and then he was also in crazy ex girlfriend he was. I think in the last season he played the character. That Santino Fontana played earlier so I guess Greg went away as one guy and came back as somebody else which I usually would discourage but I can see him. Stepping run into that part And of course he's completely horrible. Heroes her best friend who he does not know. She knows that he's a sucker for her. But she's fairly delays on him up on their Barista. That's right that into her 'cause swifty. Yeah yeah well I mean I suppose if somebody just shuts you down and said here's somebody else for. Ya when you're GONNA do. But the fact that he came over and was so sweet with her dad. Aw So cute and always loved Peter Gallagher arising from the near dead to deliver a musical number in thinking back down to opt folding back on his spot on the county he did get a little bit in the dream sequence there at the beginning to so you know get to numbers but yeah you know. There's there's quite a lot I like about one thing. I think I don't know why it has to be an hour long. What does it have to be an hour long? 'cause they need room for other songs and dances. I thought so but you know what at the half hour mark? I was ready for it to be done and I think they could have tied up a plot in that amount of time. It would just been shorter plot. Maybe instead of three or four story lines you get one storyline right or I think it would have been better as a sitcom with an hour. You get more time to kind of think about how it doesn't really make. It gives more time for you. Know apology for the promise over and over again. Still and aforementioned randoms singing yes exactly. Yeah Yeah we could. We could have less randoms singing You know I did not mind the opening dream sequence. It gave her a chance to sing and dance for a change which she did. Very adroitly and But yeah the coffee shop done without. Although it was very pleasant to watch. Was you know nicely executed. Well I I yeah I mean. I like the dance choreography. Yes see leave humming the choreography. So that's always fun right and you know. Of course that gave her the idea to set Max up with yeah. That's a long way to go for that plotline so I just really. Obviously it's set in. Its ways now. It's just going to be an hour. It has to be an hour to accommodate the length of the title but still You know I possibly. I wish I could have gone into the planning meetings for the show and giving them perhaps sang several plaintiff numbers about you know. Not Your audience is GonNa love you. Don't ask so much from them right. I mean maybe you could be a little kinder. I'll have to think of which which popular stay tune would be appropriate for to deliver that message but it is funny. The little runner that she's got this power now and she has heard of these. Like what was the song about a Moon Moon? Dads have you ever. You've surely you've heard of Chardonnay. And she's like yeah. Yeah I have no fear. How old is she supposed to be this girl? I think it's more than she's dislike a nurse just in front of a Yell. I guess but her platonic best friend knows both the Partridge family in the Jonas brothers. So he managed to. Yeah he's got Here's a little mark finch. Although I'm not sure we're supposed to assume that the the the music that their thoughts translate into is necessarily tunes chosen by the person right. I mean it's it's more about. The canucks of this thing has still not been excavated in a way that makes any particular sons. Is it the the music she had physically downloaded into her brain? Which is there without her conscious knowledge and then it matches up with what people are thinking also then also reading minds right right eight. She needs to like download a printed playlist clearly so she can research wall see. She's researching you know. She's researching the songs as they come along night. Learning about Van Morrison Ugo Rural. So I don't know it is at times very nicely. Done nicely executed the an at times. You just want to say see now. This is five minutes could come out right year taking just one step and yes yes. Here's let me trim. Let Me Trim thirty minutes out of this episode for you. We will keep watching until it's Zoe's extraordinary cancellation. I hear it. I hear the the the wafting strains of it quite a bit down. Maybe not so far no matter we shall see. I want to see a bunch of network executives pirouette onto the screen and sing. We'll have to think about what what song that they would sing to. Drop the axe. Yeah like another one bites the dust or yes. I think that would appropriate I think. Nbc needs to work that up in case they ever need to use it so get their rights to that song might take a while she'll be living your life and all of a sudden chill here all over the place network executive singing. It's all over so but not yet nope next week. Zoe's extraordinary boss. Lauren brant Yup Yup not much soon. This episode no coming next. She saved up pretty sure. She's GonNa Sing. I can't get no satisfaction because they've been promising us that long time. Yeah I mean the pilot ended with the big cliffhanger of Max singing. I love you and this one did not have a cliffhanger. It just had you know previews for the next right. Yes but I guess maybe. They knew that they were going to be winning a very very long time between the pilot episode. Do Yeah that was it interesting. An interesting delivery model for the show but only have to wait a week for the next. We're pretty sure so. We continue with Veronica Mars with the second episode which is called credit where credit's due and the case of the week involves credit card fraud. Which we are you know in in the grand tradition of TV shows. If you think you've found out who did it in. It's not at a certain point in the episode. You know that that's not correct so little to St. They're not necessarily credibly to stay but that flat line had the severe impediment of involving Paris Hilton. So Oh my goodness. Those rat was rough. Yes acting not so much Paris also the whole show. I feel like it very much. Felt me like one of those things where they aired the pilot and then like four months later the show actually started. Yes that the research. So much like re explicatives reminding about like why. Veronica's life so crappy. Yeah there was that's correct and I also was confused because I thought at the end of the pilot. She was knocking on the door that we we now knew. Her mother was probably behind. Jens expected this episode. Pick up with the door being opened so when it just seemed have absolutely no memory of that happening at all. No mention of it through the entire episode no continuity whatsoever. I went back to the first episode fast forward to the end in which she knocks on the door. Nobody answers and then she kind of walks away and looks over the railing so I guess she just never went back to try again there. Is it it it goes with what you said? It's like they made this nice more pilot and then on my goodness we have to make a whole season. These things okay. Let's just do. Let's just throw a couple lightweight. Ones Open milk out our mystery. It was weird to me that there's absolutely no mention of the. She never said anything to her dad about by the way I know that license plate belongs to what up Just like that never ever happened. Yeah I that bothered by yet. We had to get all kinds of reminders. About how about what happened which we which we are new yes. There was no advancing that particular plot except for the part of the one tiny detail yet. Lily ran a red light like two hours after she was supposed to be dead right and like if they're going to this along at that sort of pace. Yeah that's a little disappointing isn't it? And it was like the the way the exposition was doled out in this thing like you know what was it the they were talking about the someday. Ronco Mars investigations. Also that they like mentioned in one scene that Oh your grandmother is my housekeeper and then the next scene. The grammar is being arrested for the credit cards fraud too. So it's like go okay. We're going to let people know ahead of time that she's let's just drop it into the dialogue in the most clunky way possible and the same the same with the date of. Lily's death you know. The Sheriff has to make this joke to to Keith Mars about. Oh it's up tober third. You WanNa Celebrate Your Stupidity Day or something like that and then later on when we find out the tickets are from that date. It's a Goo- right. You know but I don't know I feels like it could have been done more gracefully. I mean I guess it was efficient but it called attention to itself in being so Here are the things we need people to know. Let's drop these things dialogue. But without a lot of grace so but the the little thing with Veronica died at the hotel. Doing their little playacting was kind of adorable. Even though I don't know that it would have worked buns. Okay it was also convoluted that whole like it did well. Here's I have the bill but I don't know was there. I don't know I was like following. I'm not yet offshore. Yeah the case of the week was a little fraught. Seemed more complicated than it needed to be. Oh my goodness does that dude have poor taste in women because really I guess..

"Three of us got some time. I was very trepidation on Aladdin and the pick of guy Ritchie to direct it. The s weird choice and so far, the reviews have been good. Did watch one radio K the ones I've seen yet? I it's interesting because I wasn't I don't wanna watch review. And then I'm like, oh, I know how the story goes. Jeremy Johns who does reviews on on YouTube heated one, and I was waiting for it, and he laid out the. Guy Ritchie staple of the way that he films, his movies, and they get into too. He does. They're not they're not they're not really sped up. I don't know what. Iran. Yeah. Yeah. The almost like frame rate or whatever those way, upper way down. So he mentions when he does that in the film and talks a little bit about guy Ritchie style, which I was most curious about because a friend of a friend of ours in who works here, John Liska. We were talking about news, like, well, you can't the stories good already. So you just gotta make sure you just do a solid delivery. And I'm like, yeah. They pick guy Ritchie, which really scared. The daylights out of me, but I was really looking forward to seeing it just based off of what I've heard it seems it seems like it's pretty solid. So I just don't care about these live action at a patient's cartoons. Just don't care. It depends on which one it is cartoons better kinda I don't care about them, but I am entertained, watching them once, just like visually for me. I am. I mean, I don't really feel that strongly either way about Aladdin. I'll I want to see it just because I visually like to see these different adaptions. But the one that I am genuinely excited about is the quote unquote live action of. Lion king. I actually really wanna see that really bad. They said that we'll Smith in the genie is kind of what you expected. You can't really compare them to Robin Williams, a tough thing to waste like originated that role. Think that role clearly was like him taking completely his own apparently win Will Smith is in his human form. That's when he shine. So it's not a huge surprise. I he's not a bad choice. No. Yeah. I'll be interested in seeing the I don't know, just like how he is outside of just what I've seen in trailers, as, as the genie. Oh, Aleve on this one thing to your live action. I'm kind of with you. I don't really care. I would be very interested to see if somebody can pull off a little mermaid live action one that to me would be that would be more. Interesting, Ricky and interesting. Yeah. What I wish that they would do. I don't think they ever will. I wish I don't know win blessed I mentioned this, but I wish they would take these old two d is doing the live action. I wish that they would take these popular two diversions of Disney films. And do them an animation form again, but due him in the modern three D animation. What they're doing with Lion King? Yeah. Taking all The Lion King is, is, is, is animated to be live animated to be live. Right. Animated to be real. Do you want to be like Pixar version or just a literal three one little mermaid done like cars and sure monsters Inc? Gotcha got over to see Aladdin done, you know, like Toy Story toys story movies, and thirty. They call it three d three d style. As opposed to the to the hand-drawn animation, at least as much sense as doing them live, actually frozen frozen, for example. There is have to pull it up. I think it was the new Toy Story trailer was at toy flick Toy Story five now. Michael Keaton twice or four. I remember seeing people were responding to the trailer because there's the shot of this cat. Stretching, did you did you guys see this, a Twitter moment awhile ago, there is this sort of this cat? That was just like stretching. It was a cat in the movie, somehow, and it looked so realistic. Like it looked like an actual footage of a cat. But you could see the the rest of their drought. It was like clearly Pixar movies, just like the animation on its for the light hitting it and everything. So I think that as, as technology I mean they can do anything now, but I just feel like Pixar is kind of starting to take on more and more of a lifelike, quote unquote, because since their toys, that's true life lake. You know, look, you guys got to see it's like a it's seriously like a two second clip of this cat, but it is beautiful. It's amazing. I know you're really looking forward to seeing a bright Bor actually for to both of the other movies. Bright burn is I, I like war movies, and I like offbeat superhero movies. And so it's basically evil superman. And I the idea of that is always appealed to me, because, like, you know, we're lucky Superman's parents are nice. Right. Things can happen. And there's a really fun DC comic book where basically hypothesize what if superman one of landed in communist Russia? Oh. Because he's so he gets raises of truth Justice and the American way he gets raises like a true party believer and shift, the balance of the Cold War. And they have to send Batman to fight a minute is a fun little comic story. So this horror movie are rated evil superman Damian, plus superman. All right. James, Gunn produce it. Yeah. This, this movie breaker, and what if a child from other world crash landed on earth, but instead of becoming a hero mankind proved to be something far more sinister with bright burn, the visionary filmmaker of guardians of the galaxy, and what is that? Slither good presents a startling subversive take on a radical new genre. Superhero horror. It reminds me a bit. And actually enjoy this movie. A lot of chronicle. Yes. Chronicle had no idea. It was going to do that, when I saw it like I was some superior movie and it's going. I remember thinking like this kid, can turn evil was great his chronicle, your chronicles. Not it's a found footage film. It was back sort of, in the middle of when they were doing. All the found found footage flicks. And it's about a trio of kids that were unlikely to Denver friends. One of them wasn't actually was was the rank Josh trained John's drinker. But the the, the into Han was the right though the Black Panther. Yeah. The, the back Black Panther Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan, isn't it. Got that. Yeah. He's really good too. I totally forgot he was in that is, so they end up coming across this thing that's come in from space of giving them granting them powers, and it's basically a found footage film about what the impact would be on these three individuals in one of these kids is going through some horrible experiences at home with his father. The moment I saw film. I am mmediately wanted the character that Don plays in chronicle should have been in a conspire Walker in prequels. That's a really good. He would have been perfect for that. Yes. Because he's a kid who's got his innocence to him. Okay. But he's subjected to his dad's just horrible and he's granted this power. And of course, he doesn't know how to handle it use it. It's very believable. I mean whatever. But in the context of this very believable teenage boy is power, teach boys are driven by a lot of, like conflicting and often, dark impulses, have it worked out yet. Yeah. And so the idea that superpowers not, not great. And it's interesting too, because they dance along that edge of the different they don't spend a lot of time with debases. They're gonna give you a little snapshots of the way that it would impact him in the part of it. And I'm referencing is when ease going incredibly unpopular, but he starts becoming popular because he's able to sort of showcase his talents, without letting people know that he's got these magic powers, then he goes to a party once. Yeah, I was just thinking his first. Time with like a girl. And it doesn't go the way that it should go. And it just it's one of those things that sent him down that that dark path. Yeah. Book smart female super bag. Yeah. And they're, they're pitching it as that directed by Libya wild, which is interesting. But the apparently the script is great. I my lady, I don't remember, it's not a while who wrote it, but the girls screenplay was by Sarah Haskins Susanna Fogel, Catherine Silberman, and Emily hall Pearn people, the actresses in beanie Feldstein was, I think she was an easy or one of those movies. She's good. But Caitlin Deavere is amazing. She's a great actress. She's in that Tim Allen show last man, standing, she's his daughter, but she was in justified, and she plays the daughter pot farmer was fantastic in that show. And so, in this, the two girls I guess they're they're goody two shoes. They have lived their whole high school careers. You know, they've done the right. Thing and before they go to college, they're going to do all the bad stuff. They didn't do all through high school. And then one crazy night, and I love one crazy night, high school movies. Right formula. The, the one that actually is kind of under. It didn't get a lot of attention with. Oh, gosh, I'm going to get all wrong was. He just wasn't twenty wasn't twenty one seven no no seventeen fantastic. It's the one where the guys it's the college guys, the guy turns twenty one and they end up losing him when they go out drinking, he's got a final the next day. Oh, yeah. I don't remember. I don't really good student. Yeah. From pitch perfect. He plays the the, the guy opposites of what's who's the who's the. In the leader. Are you talking about the main do the yeah? The the place opposite. Anna Kendrick the these love interest pitch perfect. Schuyler aston. I'm people's names on the same. It's awesome. Look it up. So called twenty one or twenty one and over twenty one and over. Right. Right. Right. Yep. And actually pretty funny. Yeah. Early the, the Seth green party movie can't hardly wait. I love a twenty four hour teen like super bad like that. I just like that format. It's fun. You know, it just it packs, a lot of adventures. I don't know. Can't. Hardly wait is a fun one. That's you'd really you'd get a candidate. Actually quite well. It has kind of get into like a weird way like talk masculinity, or whatever kind of the way the guys are sort of having anything they're supposed to, but they're actually like a little bit nicer than seem books is getting really good views. It's got ninety nine percent of rotten tomatoes right now. It's got the three like first reviews that come up on, on the top stories on Google are really positive. You have one headline from the Daily Beast saying book smart is the most fun. I've had the movies in years the Atlantic. There's a headline thing book. Smart is destined for cult status. The red band trailers funny. Yeah. I see. And you usually read band trailers aren't good. You know what I mean? If you're always, like look look at all the dirty stuff, we can squeeze in here. But this felt like the super bad like that you have to see the red band trailer to even have a sense of what it's like, no, big DVD and Blu releases this week, but new out on streaming. You've got a rim of the world today. Yeah. We mentioned that a couple of something you can order, Robert Kraft, massage parlours something in my DM's..
