Goldman Sachs on S&P 500, Model Y Range, Tesla Police Vehicle
"Everybody rob our here today. We were talking about tessa. Stock and the s. and p. five hundred inclusion process. We have an updated note from goldman. Sachs talking a little bit about funds that may need to purchase tesla. We also have some news on the model y and then a recently published study by the fremont police department on using tesla as a police vehicle. All right so i up on the stock tussles. Green streak has come to an end finishing down one point nine three percent today to four hundred eighty nine dollars. Sixty one cents that compared to the nasdaq down zero point four percent and two again quickly. Check on the volume. As we've been doing for the last few days it was quite a bit lower today. Only about thirty two million shares traded hands. That was the two hundred and first highest volume rank day for the last year. So very low. That's out of about two hundred and fifty trading days was actually even below the one month average of thirty three million shares and well below the three month and twelve month averages around sixty million shares debt. If you're curious why. I keep talking about volume. It's because i anticipate a lot of shares needing to be purchased. So i do want to keep an eye on volume as we head into the snp inclusion. I do expect most of the related buying four. That will happen around inclusion. But who knows how much for there's going to be so i think if we see a lot of really heavy volume heading into that that might indicate a little bit more front running. So it's not normally something i watched super closely and i'm definitely not a technical analysis based investor. But just something. I'm kind of finding interesting for less period time. Quick related note next week. Is the week of thanksgiving. So the nasdaq will be closed on thursday november twenty. Sixth all day and then on friday the twenty seventh. We closed early so reopened until one pm eastern time. As for my schedule. I'll probably take thursday off and potentially friday. We'll see on that. But hopefully the seven episodes that. I put out this week as well as two interviews that i did the most recent of which is on the talking tesla podcast. By the way we'll make up for that next week. Okay so we've got a bit of an update here on the s. and p. five hundred situation a new note from goldman sachs. Has shed a little bit of light. On that. portion of funds that is benchmarked to the s. and p. five hundred remember. This is the portion of funds that their compensation is impacted based on the relative performance to the performance of the s. and p. five hundred versus the tracking funds. They're literally trying to replicate the performance of the s. and p. five hundred identically. So if we look at our little spreadsheet here that we've looked at many times based on today's closing price for the s&p five hundred and four tesla. It looks like the waiting would be about one point two five percent for tesla and the s&p index so the p last update. They gave us said that there was about four point. Six trillion in assets tracking the index. Saw one point two six percent of that should be allocated to tesla shares. That's about fifty eight billion dollars. Almost one hundred nineteen million shares and then additionally there is six point six trillion in benchmarked assets. So that's what we're talking about here with this goldman sachs update and one point. Two six percent of that six point six trillion would be eighty three billion or a hundred and seven million shares so focusing on that slice for now goldman sachs in an updated note. Overnight said quote of the one hundred and eighty nine large-cap core funds in our universe one hundred and fifty seven funds that manage around five hundred billion in assets under management did not hold tesla on september thirtieth and quote. Okay presumably here then. The one hundred eighty nine funds that goldman is referring to here are benchmarked against the s. And p five hundred. I don't have the full note. So i'm not sure if they stated that clearly but i do think it's the best assumption we can make so they're saying five hundred billion in assets under management for those one hundred and eighty nine funds. That's five hundred billion of the six point six trillion that we're talking about here so that's about seven and a half percent of the slice so then golden is saying that of those one hundred and eighty nine funds. One hundred and fifty seven of them didn't hold any tesla that's only seventeen percent of those funds so we don't necessarily know how the dollar distribution looks if one of those funds makes up the majority of that five hundred billion assets under management and they hold tesla the dollar percentage will look very different. But for now it's just assume it's the same at seventeen percent and then let's extrapolate that percentage to the six point six trillion and benchmarked funds. Broadly obviously quite a few steps. There were the math. Can break down. This is just a theoretical exercise but if we apply that then we could assume that of the six point six trillion and benchmarked funds about one point one trillion of that may already have a position and tesla leaving about five point five trillion. That does not so drop that. Six point six trillion down to five point five trillion. Assuming others already have tessa positions. If all those funds want to be equal weight on tesla they would need to buy sixty nine billion dollars. Tesla nice which one hundred and forty two million scherzer's. Obviously they could buy more. That could buy less. Could by not at all but doing anything other than being equal weight on tesla is an active choice to deviate their performance versus their benchmark based on how tesla's said another way if they don't know about tesla the safest thing for them to do is just to be equal weight so that it's not influencing their relative performance if we hop back to that goldman note per the bloomberg article on the topic. They say quote assuming those funds chose to hold the carmaker at benchmark. Wait they would need to buy eight billion dollars of the stock or about two per cent of tussles market value the analysts set and quote so many of you may have seen the headline articles about that today. That's just goldman saying that of these funds. These five hundred billion in assets under management those funds. We need to buy a billion to be equal weight. So there's walk in clients through the exact math and we've been walking through here for awhile. But on their universe as they say which is just a subset that seven and a half percent subset of the six point six trillion that the snp says is benchmarked against the s. and p. five hundred. We've now seen a couple of separate confirmations that overall the we've been walking through here is correct. I we had the snp announcement which indicated that okay. Yes it's going to be about a one percent weight that equates to about fifty billion in terms of shares that need to be bought so check that box and then here we have goldman sachs now the benchmark funds and how they would need to buy eight billion and that lines up well with the math that we've been talking about on the bench marked funds so i think good to see that i still don't really know how all this is gonna be able to work again if all that is equal weight. That's you know. Thirty eight percent of tesla's float you can't just take thirty eight percent of afloat off the market over the course of two weeks
League of Legends: LPL to reportedly introduce salary caps
"Talk about League of legends. This story totally flew under the radar guaranteed no one watching right now saw this at all and to me this is a major like really major and Anyone talked about it. This was on Dadi. Sports. L. L. TO IMPLEMENT SALARY CAPS will assign players in tears based on performance. So basically, what they're saying is a Chinese. League of legends okay. is going to have salary caps like the NBA. So you can only pay players so much money. And and that they'll have a minimum wage, the lower limit, a luxury tax if you go over the salary cap right. but basically. That players based on how well they perform will be assigned to tears, which determines how much salary they can actually make. I this to me is unheard of both I think in traditional sports. And Any Sports William do you think this is great like as a team owner? Do you like seeing this is a I mean I. It's tough for me to say anything other than I really like it. You know I mean like look I mean it. It's in the L. p. l., which is hardly forefront of what we're looking at right now in terms of sports ecosystem but it's a very important league in the global context right and I suspect it's me to address a couple things right? Like one is. Like let's I think it's probably not good for the players because anytime there's a salary cap that's usually like that. That means you're salaries caps really I don't know if this is a win certainly for the top pros, it's on a win for the less strong pros. Maybe there's a benefit here because now they're more draft viable salary basis although to be honest, they were probably already draft five on a salary basis right? Because the answer is like if there's ten slots, the eleventh players basically like. They're either playing like a highly specialized scherzer deploying a highly especially skill or not. Right. So you know there's a lot of momentum to get to get edge players into the scene. I suspect it was driven by the fact that there there is a little bit of arms race sports, salaries that takes place right and I think the publishers looking at it and they're saying, do I want my teams because let's be honest this is not altruistic I. Don't think is right being like a really help you. If we capped the salaries, you spend less on your players right and also it's not even altruism because I don't think it's good for the players as I've said so I suspect this was motivated more by. Riot would like that money going elsewhere into content into videos into train like basically anything other than paying rents on athletes and the salary cap I thing is interesting. It's it's like. I'd like it to catch on I think it's good. We have models and traditional sports with salary caps that I don't think really work because a lot of this has to do with teeth if you're luxury taxes, two percent nobody cares. But I. Think it's an interesting thing to look at and I think I. Think it's a good like it shows that riot is continuing to look. Like they're not resting on the laurels at the L. and what's happening. It looks like they're looking at other structures on an even though this is not the lcs like this is an important league, and I suspect could be viewed as an incubation ground for new ideas you know. Says, massive for the future reports at I agree Cam Roman says this only in China so for yesterday. and Joseph I'm not familiar with the of legends but I'm guessing some teams make more making unfair advantage, I? Yeah. That's that's that's every league for the most part I just I love this for a couple of reasons one, there's a clear effort here to make. Team ownership more sustainable. Which? Just about every other sports league has largely ignored. Right, like here, there's a clear effort to say, and this is the second thing. I love about it and you mentioned it in in some ways it dismantles the ability to have an arms race right? That's fundamentally what it does. Players can still be played paid well within this construct and I would argue it's much more of a mirror talk crisi within this construct. But what you don't get with this is like. Team XYZ decides they really WanNa sign faker right and they're willing to pay faker fifty million dollars right now all of a sudden every player who thinks he's as good as faker or maybe sort of as good as faker is now going well, he's got he's getting fifty million, I want forty million right and you sort of get this runaway train of player salaries. That are being driven usually by one or two irrational signings. and this sort of. Cuts the knees off of that like it it, it eliminates the ability to have that is driven signing. And it ties it also performance. And therefore. You have real long term stability I think as a team owner in this league
Zack Wheeler, Philadelphia Phillies Stay Hot With 3-0 Shutout Of Nationals
"At number, Twelve Philadelphia Phillies I have them there now seventeen and fifteen on the year. They are two games over five hundred for the first time in a long time. That's exactly true. But it sure feels like it as affiliates fan but they're starting rotation the last two nights going against the The Washington nationals facing Patrick Corbin and Max Scherzer will zack wheeler dealer Aaron Nola when sixteen scoreless innings or fifteen scoreless innings. I think it is. It is just a man. It is fun to watch those two guys at the top the bottom end of the rotation trying to figure things out that Geffen was good arrietta bad Spencer Howard starting to put it together but they made multiple editions in the bullpen. Their entire bullpen has overturned from the worst bullpen in. Baseball, they added four guys via the trade and then you get two guys won via call once coming back from the COVID nineteen list who hasn't played all year. So they're going to have six new guys available in that bullpen, and then a couple of holdovers from last year, and you're going to see upwards of eight guys who weren't getting the baseball for this team in the bullpen in the month of August who now will be in September and they could potentially make a run because if you get those top two again in that rotation, best five, you're getting three starts from wheeler and Nola Yeah I mean I'm I'm looking forward to that I certainly am

So the pressure is building on Russia to investigate what happened. The Kremlin says, it's offended by claims of a cover up and says, there's no need for an investigation until it's conclusively proven poison was involved but analysts abroad say the case follows a pattern of attacks on critics including the Salisbury poisoning of the former spy, Sergei scruple in twenty. I share ran gap from the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs Gail University. The fact that this may be poisoning. This is a part of a pattern that the Russian government has engaged and you all know this just from the nerve Asian. That was used in this cripple poisoning, other Russian spies, both in Britain and elsewhere been poisoned. It's a really that's not something that one that is a common way of attacking someone so I think there's sort of a signature here that suggests that this is a Russian government, probably a GRU intelligence operation. The Russian government denies any involvement in Alexei navalny illness saying the accusations can't be taken seriously and it denies that there is any trend of attacks on anti-government figures. Yankees Sign Gerrit Cole
"Goal taking on Max Scherzer at the end of the day. It's a sixty game season today's day one and manager Aaron Boone, certainly one looking forward to it opening days been a Artemije life my entire life, it's all I know. It's one of the holidays of the year for me and my family, and it's privilege to be a part of a major league opening day. That'll be the case again tomorrow night in as unique. Circumstances I've ever experienced probably, and that is now tonight. Unique no fans in the stands dealing with a pandemic months and months ago. The Yankees got themselves Garrett Cole tonight. They see him for real for the first time in Boone fired up for. We're looking forward to him being able to go out and hopefully go start impacting our team on the field. Field in a huge way starting tomorrow and I'm just excited for him. Because obviously it's been a long time coming for him to this day and I'm excited for him to to really begin his career now with the Yankees very excited for him in numerous ways, here is Ham excited, even though they are dealing with weird circumstances, it still opening day. Day there are challenges. There are things that we're GONNA have to do to adjust our routines. And that's really GonNa be across the board from our staff to our players, and you know, but we're grateful for the opportunity to be here and we'll. We'll be able to find some excitement and some joy, because it's the game that we love no doubt and you can skip the next call one eighty Gimme Brian Cashman, talking about seeing his price signing from the off season. Yes, in a long time coming out of clearly Garrett Cole isn't exciting. Talent he's been focused has really even relentless in terms of his preparation. Even you know when spring training stopped. He never has stopped. He's been. Preparing for this day for quite some
Washington DC Nationals on 7-2 loss to Philadelphia Phillies
"72 of the final score at Nats Pork this evening between Washington and the photo of your filly's. It was the first exhibition game for either team during this summer camp. And that's opening their regular season at home against the New York Yankees On Thursday, Max Scherzer suffered a rough first to winnings Didi Gregorius, crushing a three run homer in the first and it was Bryce Harper, who went deep in the second. Another three run homer surrendered by Sures err in as many innings. Some good news in these 7 to 2 lost the return of Victor Roadless, who was seen in the dugout for the first time since summer training began, according to the Washington Post. Jesse Doherty robot has completed a 14 day quarantine after possible contact with someone who tested positive for Corona virus. Ro blaze flew from the Dominican Republic to Miami on July 1st. Big East Cancels Non-Conference Games For Fall Sports
"Will be different in Georgetown and non existent Howard this year, the Big East, announcing that fall sports will only play conference games in 2020 and the MEAC has cancelled all fall sports Baseball. The Nationals Post one of the better starting rotations in the majors, and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Last night when Stephen Strasbourg pitched the interest Squad game, Max Scherzer, Patrick Corbin and Anibal Sanchez got together in a socially distant wayto watch. Manager Davey Martinez. Those guys, they're all pretty close, you know, starting pitchers, so every time Strasbourg Max throws our orbit, essentially, those guys are going to sit up there and watch each other pitch. They like it. They washed. They learn and they teach. You know if they see something one guy's doing that they can help they talk. They talk amongst each other. And try to make themselves better.

"Really bad. I never seen him in that much pain before but at the same time a lot can happen in a short amount of time and so. I don't know if I would say I did think he was going to. But there was also a part of me that just thought it wasn't going to end that way that there was more to it and if if we can get through game six stress can do it like. He's going to throw the baseball on what I had just heard Max and manager Davey Martinez share inside that press conference going from where the nets were before the start of game. Five two now thinking about Max possibly being able to pitch again in this series and the national still having a chance to win it all. That was a tall order. Confidence in the team's chances took a hit. But that's where the theme of Eric Has. Confidence became most evident to me message shared during the playoffs that Erica kept telling him this is the team. This is the nationals team that is destined to win the world series. She felt it she felt it with the Camaraderie beginning back in the summer even though she was with the rest of the nationals fans having doubts as the team struggled it nine thousand nine hundred thirty one nineteen thirty one or whatever it was the calls to fire TV. And the now look him. It's nine hundred thirty one by the way what we're thinking. If I'm being honest I was like not fire David but I was thinking well. We're not going to the playoffs. I mean right I hate to say it but nobody was thinking we were at that time and very few people were hanging in there. And that's probably credit to. David is still keep that positively all of it but it was a long shot. It was a really big long shot. But that's where his WanNa know really does and there's something to that. You just got to win one game win another and next thing you know you take off But I think there was just so much to it. It was a great group of guys it was the dancing in the dugout. It was you know the sunglasses it was the baby shark like. It's just so many fun stories and such a great group that you can't put your finger on one thing it just fit it just worked and I think people are GonNa try to analyze it so long. You can't but back to the issue at hand Max. Scherzer was out Joe. Roff getting the call that night in Washington the nationals lost game five which meant they were headed back to Houston down three games to two in the best of seven series. And what were you thinking? At that moment that night after you guys got that loss. Where's your mindset? We still had a path here that look one my neck with the cortisone shots you know. Try and make those work. Well I was really taken away. Yeah because what happened was the do the treatment with my nerves. Got Pinched and muscled wasn't spasm. And what is even worse was the nerve in my neck was actually pinched up to and so it was a double whammy effect and so If he alleviate nerve than you could release spasm and so you know that's where all treatment options are on the table at this point so as much as you want at took about twenty four after the next day realize okay this headquarters on shots in the past and I know they work and I know it's usually that forty eight hour seventy two hour window that three day like you feel pretty darn good in that time for him and then what was that process like of of Max getting himself right like what did what was that. Like for you guys. Just lots of treatment. Lots of sleep. Lots of US me and family and everything just trying to take care of everything here so that all he had to worry about was resting and taking care of himself and two. Isn't that hard for you like when you got your stressed and you want something to work but you've got your whole family. I mean like that stresses me yeah. That's it definitely amendable and fascinating. I think I'm sure a lot of the other. Women would probably feel the same or say the same like we definitely during the playoffs. Take on a lot so that the guys don't have to worry about what they're doing on the field Once it was all said and done and the partying was done definitely cut hit my breaking point of like. I can't take on it just absorbed so much. I need a break too. But it's all worth it but the question in the minds of nationals fans was. Is it GONNA BE WORTH IT? Because all they knew was they were heading for the access and now looking at a situation where the nationals had to go back to Houston and went to on the road in order to win a championship. And that never happens. Never before had it been done that every single game in a world series was one on the road. This is where we leave you. The next episode will pick up here. I can't wait to share it with you. There's so much insight and the stories behind the scenes are where I think all the the fun really is all right. Thank you so much for listening to this episode of my podcast. Thank you also. To Ray affectionately. Known as railway scrambles editor and musician extraordinaire but thank you and if you like this episode please tell your friends better yet till like five hundred of your friends and you can get the next episode anywhere you. "scherzer" Discussed on Players with Lindsay Czarniak
"Hey guys. I'm Lindsay's Arctic and this is players conversations with athletes artists entertainers about their interest in sports and vice versa. And what they've learned along the way this is part two of the Washington nationals journey to the world series win through the eyes of star Pitcher Max Scherzer and those close to him as I was covering the story and is the team continued to fight adversity and beat the odds. Sherzad kept referencing. His wife Erika so in this episode. You're going to get a closer look at who Erica. Sherzer is and how she factored into that world series win without even realizing it the night. The nationals won the world series. She talked to me on the field after and shared what I found was fascinating insight into how the wives role is just as vital as a position on the field. I think it's easy for them to give up hope at times when my who thinks get frustrating and struggle and we can see it from an outside point of view. And that's why I think I was telling you the other night like we have to be that support system and we have to be the one that absorbs everything for them and just keeps going and keeps them going and one of our closest friends that also baseball. I says you have to be cheerleader. You have to be there for them and just keep on going and keep him going. And that's what we try to do back at hard. I mean it's hard but that's why I'm here for like I love the heck out of him. I'm going to do anything for him. Let me give you a little context on Max and Erica. And I'M GONNA start with Erica because when you first meet her. She's striking. She's super tall. She's beautiful but beyond that. What hits you immediately as how warm she is. How are tickets? She is and besides being a great mom supporter for Max. She's also doing a ton of work in the community and elsewhere maximum. Erica met the first week of college her freshman year at the University of Missouri where she played softball when one of her teammates introduce them. Eric told me it was his smile. That grabbed her attention. I in fact he was really romantic. I love thinking about that juxtaposition from the Max we see with his intensity on the mound. What intrigued me about the two of them as a couple is both were athletes stellar athletes and from growing up to college to the pros. Erica told me they both came close to winning titles including when Max's Detroit Tigers lost the world series to the giants in two thousand twelve but neither had ever won a championship so this run meant something special and their bond is something fierce. We begin where we left off the morning of game five of the World Series Max. Sherzer that night starter. He was in so much pain he could barely move. Erica was just starting your day taking care of her two little girls and Max was about to change everything and it was awful. I knew we'd done some treatment in game four Tried to get ready for game five to get ready and I went to bed at night thinking I was All right let's hope that treatment works and wake up and you know hopefully I feel good him and we we just go Remember Waking Up and I could just feel in my trap that no. It went backwards. That were the arm right now. I came. Turn my head I'm mike hobbling up stairs and stuff so I knew I was in a really bad spot. You know where you try and make a star in its game five of the World Series and I've done crazy things and you know maybe there's a way to pitch through it and as I continue to you know. Try address myself because even dress myself so it was just You know it was just a real bad spot. Realizing that There's just no way I'm going to make it Not with not with this type of pain. There's no way you can. You can fight this type of pain. I mean I can't lift my arm. How am I gonNA throw a ball with the girls and everything and he walked down the stairs and couldn't even move? All he could do was walk. He couldn't do anything else and I could just see the look in his face so I drop everything and go to him and it just it was just that feeling of knowing what is at stake and this is bad and so I just. Maybe it's the the mom in me but I just went into that lake that mom mode. Okay you're going to be okay. We're into this. We have to this. I we'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA showered. We're going to address. We're going to do this Texas Person I've got this. I'll text these people say you just went into that. That mode of here's what we have to do. And I'm taking over this and it just I don't know it. It was awful and now a good moment but then as I got closer to park like yeah it's timeless job. Ross. No HE'S GONNA. Start so some a text message out like hey I know you guys who kind of knew I was not a good spot and you know I was talking to Joe Throughout the play offs and just different things that he was working on and he was saying this whole time to get a moment. Hey pitching game too and he and he actually looked really good and so You know for me I I knew I knew. At the moment I was not better job. Ross I saw what he had done. There was no way I could do this. That it's his turn to take the ball and text messages. Say get ready. You know you're going to have it to Joe. Roth told me when he got that text message from Max Sherzer that he was obviously concerned for his teammate. He was shocked but he did say there was a sense of adrenaline. That kicked in with the news that he could end up being the guy to pitch game five. He said he didn't really believe it would happen. Though until within the hour he got a phone call from national's management saying you are GonNa be the one. Meanwhile the nationals were in the midst of calling an impromptu press conference to announce the news. Everyone was shocked to hear. If you all know Max obviously pitcher with a broken nose he's been hurt before he's gone through things and when he comes in and says that he's hurt this bad he's hurt and I can tell you now that he's he's very upset. He wants to be out there with his teammates But hopefully we can get him back here for either game six or seven. I'm disappointed as I possibly can. And beyond that pitched I mean that's game five of the World Series I. I've pitched through so much crap in my career. That would be easy to pitch at this point. This is literally impossible to do anything with. Nobody knew what to think. There was a sense of shock inside that Media Room. As thirty to forty members of the media listened to that news and as we all walk back out onto the field. I remember thinking. Did that really just happen? And what's going to happen next? I was there covering that. Game for. Nbc in Washington. I had seen my former ESPN colleague. Tim Kurkin there on the field just prior to that press conference in Iran to Tim. Because I wanted to find out what were his thoughts. A guy who's covered major league baseball for forty years his thoughts on what we just saw. Hap what is your take on what we saw happen tonight. What magazine before this drug just goes to show you how difficult it is to play? Major League baseball if you're injured and he is really injured. Mark Sharon told us he's had that exact thing and it takes a good three days to get better and he said in the meantime. You can't do anything you can't shave. You can't move your head nothing all you WanNa do is just lie down and stay still. I think he's GonNa Pitch Game Seven if there is a game seven now. Obviously a lot has to happen before then and he's going to have to recover but knowing Max Scherzer. There's any chance he can pitch he's going to pitch. Did you think he was going to be able to play? I kept asking him. What did the doctor say and he said they told him he would be ready in forty eight hours that he just needed the shot to kick in and so I said just trust. The doctors trust the process and I mean he seemed.
"Dozo with Sunday it baseball's Jessica and does and Jess Wow that game last night was insane that's the kind of name I got to tell you do the post-game work and you go back to the hotel and you're staring at the walls in the hotel room wide awake because you have so much his rental in and I was what about you because eventually I did go back to sleep but you had to get up like three hours later to get up this morning yeah it was up at five and then you write everything and I know now I have such an appreciation for writers because I like to give all of because I know that everyone that I'm working with this morning didn't watch the game and so I basically the right everything that I feel like we're the highlights of things I want to get into all the stuff I need them to look up graphics Oh that's put me up until one two in the morning and the I'm upset if I walk into work and getting ready to go so I'm a morning person it's been the nights that like that's why I'm so excited about this game six because I'll tell you what there's been a couple of games this world series where I'm like fighting sleep in the sixth seventh innings. I've only got a few hours this one I mean buster there were times I was jumping on my bed in my hotel room liking the TV Blake I'm sure my neighbors the hotel do not appreciate I'm like come on the world series game six you should be watching it was it was a nutty gate for the most part we'll put it this way in the first five games the world series there was one lead change last night we had two plus all the craziness for that game distinguish itself from the rest of the world series and I've got a laundry list of stuff to get tune we'll get into all of what happened last night but let's start with this I thought you know Dave Martinez what an emotional night like he goes absolutely nuts during the course of the game we're in the seventh inning stretch and he looked down the field and all of a sudden I see Dave Martinez being restrained by one of his coaches and he's going after the umpires he winds up getting a in our life by the Japan and their life go ahead the one who's restoring him he's gotTa winds up being rejected first manager in twenty three years to be objected from a world he's game and then after the game you get knuckleheads like me going in there and ask you know the right questions about how he felt in that moment and what did you think about the call I Dave Martinez handled it perfectly because he's like you know what I don't WanNa get any that I don't want to talk about that and he said it respectfully he said I I understand but you know what it's all about game seven in so many words and that's exactly what I thought he should have done in that moment considering what the outcome was there was no reason for him to relive all the details game unless they lose like I feel like and not that you want to relive it anyway and you WanNa take the high road but there was a moment there and this is for the people who weren't watching the game live but when you're watching it live during the entire time empires had the headsets on that that the showing trae Turner in the out just the emotions completely I mean honestly watching the broadcast they were bleeping out every other word was coming out of that dugout because it was so much emotion it felt like that something we're gonNA WE'RE GONNA be talking about this moment for years because in that moment it felt like the nationals are gonNA lose this game and this is why it's GonNa be because of this so I think Dave Martinez would have been a completely different person had anthony rendon day income and hit that home run I think then he would have been a lot more but when you win the game and it's like why go back in blow up that entire call a hundred percent and that's what I thought was really smart by him to not go back and relive that because they won the game and they force game seven and game seven will be started by Max Scherzer who chess on Sunday comes walking stiffly into the interview room in front of reporters he When he was answering questions he wasn't turning his neck he was sitting in his wheelchair and turning the whole swivel chair to talk to reporters and he was so down he gets a cortisone shot which pitchers talk about is being such essentially a miracle drug and then yesterday when we walk into the Ballpark here in Houston he's in catching the outfield and goes to Intel's Day Martinez I'm ready to go and you get the feeling that this could be something that could fire or at the players I asked David about that before the game yesterday about you know whether or not the players might rally around this any mentioned that time when Max fouled the ball off he was on face broke his nose and the next day Texan picture instead I'm good to go and he started that day with the black is Dave said that got the players fired up I gotta believe tonight there'll be so much adrenaline Max on the mound especially because I mean from that press conference buster and and for those of us that know him he was devastated Leanne devastated on Sunday that he could not help his team and I felt like it worked in the reverse like he could not hide the emotion of how much he felt like he was leading his team down and because of that and not because that's the sole reason they lost by any means at all but I felt like the team reacted to his devastation and not just him not pitching the overall vibe that he was giving like I feel awful that I can't pitch in game that I'm supposed to I think it works in the reverse for game seven because he is battled on everything he can the cortisone shot I think my only concern was shirt tonight is we've seen in his starts in this postseason him go one hundred ten and plus pitches how much length can't he give this team now the good thing is you know Daniel Hudson Sean deal those two pitchers you can use anybody pretty much out of the bullpen and there is more options for Dave Martinez out of the bullpen but what we've seen is they need length from these starters how much length can shares her bring your stuff was just flat from the get-go the guys more pitches than anybody in baseball this year over four thousand he just he just didn't have it and I think it was because he he's tired at the end of a long year and right that's the question about Max tonight on the other side we're GonNa see Zach ranking who's also looked tiredness postseason and I would assume that he's he followed by Garrett Cole I talked to Garyk before game six and asked him about how his ability with game seven was something he was handling because of the flight on the day last turn it had a similar situation where normally I would pen on day two but since we were flying I decided to it settled in DC and throw my pen on day three which for this week sets up pretty much the same exact way and I felt really good last week on day three so I'm just taking the same routine did last week to prepare for the bullpen as I'm doing this week to prepare for possibly having to pitch game seven yes I think he's GonNa wind up pitching like innings four through six tonight what do you think yeah I think so I think this is something that you definitely see and I think just for the royalva nats I mean to be able to get to that grinky you know the point that they want to be able to do they're going to have to do it early and once they do that knowing what is looming in the bullpen and that's one thing opposite of the nationals is the astros have so many guys that they can go to and Garrett Cole who has been the ultimate throw down the hammer are you know for the scene the one point I have to make with Garrett Cole and I know we've seen it so much but the last time he has pitched in relief you go back to his freshman year at us Cla I went and looked at this against the ant eaters gave up a winning run I mean this is like I know it's liked onion cheek like it's been how long since he was a little frothy with the Bruins this is something that I do think fans that now we've seen it time and time again from Randy Johnson no Madison Bumgarner these star pitchers come out of the bullpen it's not as easy is it looks folks he's talking about it being similar to bullpen game he's never done it really he's never done it as a professional he's never done it with the Astros this is something that I think you definitely look for especially early on if he's coming in mid inning what what is he doing where's his heart rate because it's definitely different than than coming in just as the starter all right let's dig into game six last night we'll start with this golf clap or Stephen Strasburg watching that last night just reminded me of how I felt during the two thousand fourteen postseason watching Madison bumgarner where he seemed so in control where even when there were runners on base pitching backwards coming back and counts by throwing off speed pitches he was just absolutely composed and in the end despite the fact that Max Sherzer got up at one point in the sixth inning there Stephen Strasburg still out on the mound in the ninth inning what a performance the fifth five no yeah this amazing to me again Jose Altuva and I remember in the moment I sent this note to our producer in the moment I was like I don't know what's GonNa Happen in this game but to me this is the stories this isn't even the game like that fifth inning at bat it to Jose Altuve to me was the series why I mean you have a pitcher or a hitter up to bat similar to the Anthony Rendon in the first inning where all you really gotta do is put the bomb play take one of those breaking balls fine whole get to the grass score some runs and respond and felt like to all the guys in that order that's what he does I mean that guy can hit anything and Stephen Strasburg you'll get three pitches he started on what the
The Latest: Astros pound Nats 8-1, even World Series 2-2
"We were led to believe after losing two games at home I know it's a daunting task that this astro team would you be the best team pound for pound a baseball which is going to roll over and die because they were down to heading back to Washington to your notes are you crazy we were led to believe that apple share trends and Patrick Corbin was shot only gonna be absolute sh thought is at home that they were now unbeatable at this was going to roll over this wasn't over after two games and shame on you if you thought it was the Astros were too damn good I know as predictable as she readers on predictable a post season is this is been the Astros went for the second straight Saturday night to what they thought would be a bull pen game Jose your key took the hill astro saying just give us when you can go to the bullpen after he tosses five innings absolutely mows down a national line up there for the second straight night at home as a no answer I'm not sure a line up they can tell a coal Justin Bieber lander I know can hit all who's a key key nobody would only one year nobody had heard of them outside Houston for a month ago August seventh he was pitching for triple a Round Rock could tell your kids I'm assuming Texas somewhere over there he allowed fourteen hits eleven runs three home runs in four to two thirty thirds innings in a game in el Paso that's what horrors a Keating was due on August seventh as world don't cannibals into some polls somewhere and now he's a game for the World Series mowing down what I was just told was as great a lot of that was loose dancing up a great time that was gonna be stopped in the Washington nationals end as much as I just pounded the drum for tell you how quickly article series over I was calling out nats fans anybody tweeted at me on how crazy they were saying it's all over let me just say this now as we headed to a game five on Sunday night and a what should be an entertaining game five what's the rain clears in the nation's capital between Max Scherzer Gerrit Cole to round two for this this series folks is over now it is time to say it's over even a two two two V. E. R. over then not shed their change it the only chance Washington had a beating Houston was to make quick work of the Astros and they had it on the table and they have absolutely choked give them a long time like run over because no matter what they have to win at least one game in Houston I now that means they're going to have to take three of the potential for games and usually just as your if not all four depending on if they do even hysterical second time and that's the other part to do this they're gonna have to either beat both Gerrit Cole and Justin Berliner again which one of the odd the team to beat those guys twice in one series or go to a game seven in Houston at the Jack break you seems to run locked everything figured it out without one of their aces on the hill this series will be over in six of Max Scherzer doesn't basically throw shot out on Sunday night and it might be over in six anyway because this game could go ten ten innings one nothing if Gary Cole was absolutely on his game I remember he could get out there within that bad to we play plenty of the National League but this is a disaster for the
World Series tied as Houston takes Game 4 in blowout fashion
"World Series game for completely one sided a hundred and twelve RBIs this season there's the pet industry that is eight back breaker Alex Bregman the grand slam knocked in five masters drill the nationals a one robber for the call Asher's radio network Robinson Chirinos set a two run blast is Jose or Keating alleges to it's over five scoreless there is now even at two games apiece with game five tonight Max Scherzer against Gerrit
Nationals take 2-0 lead in NLCS with 3-1 win over Cardinals
"So the rough weekend for the Saint Louis cardinals I'm sure that they got both games one and two of the NLCS at home against the nationals they were only able to muster one run on four hits combined in those games as as well so I just took a no hitter today thing in game one and Max Scherzer took a no hitter into the seventh inning of twenty two game very curly going on right now the score tied at zero zero survivors of the cardinals coming back to win this series so I mean that's the question from sue that is the right team that is down to while it's going to come back and win the series
Dodgers post game analysis
"Sort it's just normal baseball that's normal baseball things running but here in these two cases with the managers it seems like they purposefully chose to go with their gut they chose to make these moves that were really unconventional that you would never do the regular season and that there was no structural benefit or structural reason about the postseason that you would do it and yet they did they a- We actually saw both of these managers change their behavior because of the situation and so the notion of shocking coming up the clutch for players which I don't have a hard time with seems like those may be loaded words and maybe not the right words the most accurate or specific words but the the the sort of idea behind them seems to be what caused those moves that managers that managers than elves actually do get affected by the situation and make moves for no other reason than the stakes are high in they're going with their gut in leads them to weird places and I wonder if that's a way of thinking about Dave Robertson Joe Kelley leaving Joe Kelley enemy there was it felt like there was just a lot of gut work going on there yes and by the way leaving him for for how he Kendrick which was obviously freight adding it seemed like a crazy move in a lot of ways and it worked out really really really really badly but maybe then you would so say that he got sort of roped into sticking with Joe Kelly is now he's thinking about getting the ground ball and Joe Kelly's the better ground ball pitcher and there were maybe not would solutions there but then he kept on Joe Kellyanne so at some point along the way it feels like Dave Roberts just made a move because the postseason there's something about the postseason that was maybe clouding his decision making or or causing him to to think like what this is this is too important I want to go against my instincts and so he went with his instincts and now is the disaster was yeah and I'm looking at kid Rosenthal's article today which is titled Dave Roberts Meet Grady Little but I am also looking at a report from for Hey Castio of Los Angeles times who says that Dave Roberts will remain the dodgers manager in twenty twenty according to a couple of sources so that is the seemed to just about everyone it looks like he's going to be back he has a lot of lives it's tough for Roberts because a friend of mine dodger Fan Texas may saying like He likes Dave Roberts in the regular season but he makes crazy pitching moves in the postseason and every manager makes crazy pitching moves postseason like they all do it they all have to do it they also choose to do it they all have crazy pitching moves and the we remember the ones that don't work out which is kind of like a banal thing and to say but with Dave Roberts by managing deep into the postseason every year he has to make even more he has to just keep making easy pitching moves because that's the nature of the postseason until one doesn't work out and then like fat tends to end the season for him and so he gets remembered for them I don't know if you if there was some way of counting up all crazy pitching moves that every postseason manager does has to do controversial moves debatable moves in seeing whether Roberts makes I dunno more crazy moves or that a greater percentage failure workout or something but yeah I mean he's made a bunch of crazy moves that that worked too so I'm not surprised that he's coming back I thought he would come back but I guess at this point I wouldn't have been surprised either way yeah will what you were saying about questions sir whatever we want to call it that is one way that people define it it's not that you've perform so much better in these situations than you do usually it's just that you don't let those situations disrupt you and get you away from whatever you normally do so I guess that would be a case of a manager instead of making the move he might make in May not that you would want to handle your bullpen the way that you do in a typical regular season game either it's like a hybrid of the two sort of where you do want to be ultra aggressive in that situation and go with your best players for as long as possible but that's not really what he right so I don't know what that was but maybe it was a one time only event last thing when matches are was running out of the bullpen celebrate the final out you guys mentioned that great giftable image of matches or running out of the bullpen to celebrate the final and Scher runs like ten steps in the turns around and is like looking to see anybody's behind him did you have a moment thinking about the time that Max Scherzer celebrated a walk off too early out of it was it was a walk off he thought it was a walk it was yeah yeah and the fact that the bats Max I wondered whether Max got eight steps out and thought wait a minute was how many outs were there or what is are we in but that's
Scherzer, Zimmerman lead Nats past LA 6-1 to force Game 5

Scherzer surprises Dodgers in relief as Nats win

A look at all 16 possible World Series matchups
"Allow with us right now is is EMMA LB Major League baseball analyst insider extraordinaire the great one himself the one and only Kirk Chin who will be in attendance for tonight's Oakland a's Tampa Bay rays one game divisional playoff game. What's going on man? How are you how's everything I'm great Stephen? Even a I'm at a playoff game. It's a winner. Take all situation on October the second this is pretty good stuff. You really really liked this one game stuff don't you. You really liked him. Well what I think it does Stephen Obviously it brings a game seven half. Let's fear to the beginning of October that that game last night was a really good game but it was even better because the poor brewers had to go home after losing and granted. It's really unfair that one of these teams tonight both worked on ninety five or more games going to have to go home after one but it does bring increased integrity to the regular killer season. It makes those hundred sixty two games so important so you don't have to play in this game but the fact that the loser goes home home makes it. It has a level even high. I gotTA admit him. I'm very shocked by that position that you take because you are one of the most fair minded people I've ever known on and to go to a hundred and sixty two game season and it to come down told one game. It's it almost seems grew. It really does well. It is cruel stephen a but this is a cool sport and I was not in favor of this but here is the option if we were gonNA play a best best of three. Let's say and you are the New York Yankees. Let's say you want your division and you get to host the next round and we have ties leading into the wild card situation and then you play best of three it's possible the Yankees can win a hundred and ten game name say in a season and then take eight days off before they play a playoff game. That isn't fair you need to you need to really welcome the teams teams that won their division and put them in the best possible spot but if you make them wait a week before they get to play. I don't think that's fair. Wow Turkey right here with steven a radio. ESPN news fair enough. That game was something special last night at least the last couple of innings of soda to to to to Gino's keynote hit it to right field identify Grisham to commit that era. I gotTa tell you it was great to see how electric atmosphere was. How much did baseball Paul need particularly when we have just heard reports come down to how attendance drop but so like a six year low or something like that right well baseball can use all the health can get right now? It's still for me at least the greatest game and yet things are starting to slip a little bit and big game like that starting out like that in a city. That's like the biggest game the nationals of one well biggest game. A team in Washington is one baseball nineteen thirty three for goodness sake. That's what made it so good. That's why that celebration was so good and I'll crom tonight. Stephen Ain't no matter what happens this is gonna be a great night for baseball 'cause weighty. Did you see the Oakland Coliseum tonight with fifty thousand people in your they don't have the most fans in the world but the fans they have our rate and they are loud and it should be a tremendous atmosphere so this is a great jump start to the postseason in baseball last night in Washington and no matter what happens tonight tonight tonight in Oakland who you have when you look at tonight's game just evaluate this this match up to me between the as and Tampa Bay talk to me about you know who's looking good in mismatch in what well I like both teams. I'm GONNA pick I like it matters. I'M GONNA pick the as because they're at home. I'M GONNA pick the as Ashok MNAYA WHO's four no with a one twenty-one year as it's coming off the list has been great. Their bullpen is pretty darn good and they can just ask Mash Stephen a more than any team in the history of the Oakland A.'s in the franchise so they can really pounded but they're going up against Charlie Morton who was one of the best pitchers in the game this year. I saw his last start against your Yankees Steven A. and he he threw six scoreless. Let's see was completely dominant and if you throws like that he's GonNa win tonight. That's how good he was so this is a toss up game. I'll just take the as 'cause they gotta pick. Somebody and I'll take 'cause they're at home. You brought up my Yankee so let's get right to it because you know that's what I really really care about. Tim Kirk Okay. I'm very concerned earn. I am not concerned about the Minnesota twins even donate three hundred and seven home runs this year. I just think they're allergic to prosperity whenever their face against the New York Yankees the Houston Houston Astros are an entirely different matter with Verlaine with Cole Whitt Cranky. I don't see anybody beating. These guys. Talk to me about my yankees prospects. The this postseason Tim Kirk well first off. Do not look pass the twins. Even though I'm with you I believe will win. This series do not look past the team that can swing it like that. Team can second I think the Astros are the best team not just in the American league but in both leagues and I'm not sure how any team to navigate through those friends for you guys in the rotation especially coal and Burland at the top and I'm also going to tell you it's even a there or is hope that the Yankees can win the world series that make you really happy a bunch of things have to happen of course after mash like they always do the bullpen has to be great great like it always has been but Luis Severino comes back and give them five dominant innings. Can we've seen him do and if James Paxton this good he's one ten starts in a row. If Tanaka can give them one really good start or a few really good starts I think they are good enough to win the world series with the team that they have now but I still have them as the third best team in baseball go in behind the Astros and the dodge transitioned to the Los Los Angeles dodgers. They've got to face these Washington nationals in the LDS. How do you see that matchup handicap that for me well? I liked the dodgers in that matchup with the understanding understanding that if Max Scherzer can return to being the great Max Scherzer which he has not been since he came off the injured list is not he wasn't that guy last night. He wasn't that Guy September. If he returns to the best he's ever been with him. In Strasbourg Patrick Corbin they can give the dodgers a really really hard time with with that starting rotation and that lineup is very potent these days. I just think the dodgers are more complete team. They hit the ball out of the Ballpark ballpark with anybody. Three stars in the rotation are really good. My key question with 'em is is their back end to the bullpen as good as it needs to be Kenley Kenley Jansen get the people out. He needs to get out if he can't. They're not going to win the world series. How wants faiths the dodgers fans having jetson? I know I don't have much. I like the guy personally early but I I I don't. I don't trust him. I don't trust them a big spots. I think he can be hit. Talk to me about him. For a second yeah his is down his cuddled. It doesn't have the same movement to better tad in the past and that gives fans of pause. They do have some other health back there there but I really thought they'd go get more help at the trade deadline and they didn't so they're gonNA hope starting pitching and power is going to carry them and they're hoping pinged Kenley Jansen his best but I seen him much much better than he's been this year. What should we make about the fact that you've got high payrolls dodgers Yankees you know old? I don't know the order in which is the highest payroll. You would know that at this particular juncture but I must ask you Tampa Bay is in the postseason obviously lowest payroll in major league baseball well. I do believe I know that I mean how do you explain the fact that teams like the as in the Tampa Bay rays notoriously alot payrolls manage to get this fall and sometimes further dentist with the highest payrolls talked about that for a quick second as a protest. Why baseball is so great even a is that Lebron doesn't touch it on every possession? Kevin Durant doesn't touch it on every possession it is so much more of a eighteen game in its own way because you could lose a superstar and still be really good you have to draft and develop properly like the as and the rays done you have to play the game in a better manner because you can't afford to make a mistake because you know either in free agency or trade because it could set that you back with a raise did they. They got Austin Meadows and tyler glass now in a deal for Chris Archer Saint the whole team now they've ninety games two years in a row they they are really good but they're really 'cause they play the game even a defense base running better than most teams do instead of just sitting back saying well. We're GONNA hit a three run at home this morning so we don't have to do all the other things so. Let's get all of this out of the way right. Now Tim Cook while you're here with me. Yankees twins you. Have you have one in that series. I've got the Yankees over the twin yes with the warning. I say it again. Don't underestimate a team that hit over three hundred homers with the as as you picked as over the race tonight which means there as will go up against Houston obviously you pick in Houston to win that series assuming it comes down to that and the LDS correct yeah yeah but no cakewalk they're not against the as but I have the astros advancing against the how formidable on the Atlanta braves not mean I mean I mean at least in these parts. We talked enough about them. How good is this Atlanta braves team well? If Ronald Kunia junior and Freddy Freeman are completely healthy and they they want to finish the season they are the biggest threat to the dodgers in the National League for me. They're lying is absolutely relentless and with some of the pitching moves they made young and Old Dallas Cycle and the upgrades in their bullpen. I like that team. I don't like it as much as I like the dodgers but they can beat the dodgers with the team. They have right now so the nationals brightest moment was last night because you don't see them beating the dodgers correct I don't because they're going to start on the road. They've already use sure they're they've already Strasbourg people. They can get them back in time. I just don't think they held it too. I was worried shows a look tied at the floor four. Oh five in his last night I mean fifteen and won his last pitch and fit then it was I think it was at seventy seven pitches and he looked absolutely gassed. What does that about yeah? He's he's he's been hurt for portions of the year and he's had a little trouble getting that rhythm back in September and now in October and he is so max effort for on every single pitch when everything isn't working properly even he can get in trouble because almost nobody's better than him.
Max Scherzer will start NL wild-card game for Nationals
"National League central division still up for grabs cards were idol but they lead the division by one game over the brewers who beat Cincinnati five to three in the NL wild card the Washington nationals have a one game lead over the brewers for the top

"But yet, no to, to Dallas point. Like it's the same thing as the Mets fans being like, well, you don't get moments like this bar toll Cologne. It's like all right. I get that was a once in a lifetime thing. And it's still cool. See stuff like this. The image, the image of max Scherzer out there with a black eye broken face going. What seven shutout with ten strikeouts last night? That's fucking cool. Like, and it also have, you know. So like you just you can't breathe you can't breathe at your nose. So it's little things like that. Like I would challenge listeners right now. Listen to the remainder of this podcast, just breathing. Out of your mouth. Pinch your nose and just breathe out your mouth for the rest of the podcast. Now, think about sitting in the dugout with a resting heart rate of one, sixty in between innings and then going out and getting that heart rate till like what eighty five while you're striking out the fucking world all with the inability to breathe through your nose. Like that's not fucking fun, folks. And there is pressure, every time you get your nose broke. They tell you not to run. No jarring. Right. You're trying to let that thing. He'll there could lead flow in and shit. And he's out there blowing one hundred seven innings that's fucking that's that's dropping your nuts, right on the mound, a bunch of the hockey Harto's when it acts the day that it happened, assuming that because we're at their reports that he was going on the deal. I'll whatever they're like. Oh, wow. This is definitely an I L trip and max was like. No, no, no, no, no. I'll be taken that ball. Thank you. Yeah. Now they're all the hockey heart. I was out in droves talking about how oh no there's a hockey player. It'd be back back out there the next day. It's like, well, we'll guess what make sure there was back out there. The next day was the out there. He was dominating. Nobody cares about your sports. All right. Yeah. And when people do start to care about their sport. They get protective of it. Yes. Stop tweeting about yours or nobody cares. Yeah. By the way, remember when he got up to that slow start this year? He's four and zero eight over his last six. So he's geez. He's bad. Zero eight over six starts from action as pretty good. That's pretty good. And then what was the other thing that I wanted to talk about the empire's, or do we have that yet? The we talk about that a second. New sponsor alert in this one is near and dear to my heart. Those of you who know me Noma, big sex guy. There's no shame in it. It's fucking awesome. In recently. "Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander behind packs in our power degrom Corbin, Blake's nil. It's pretty good company. Right there. Young winners some obvious aces some World Series winners. That's a some some good competition. Right there. Gives you a lot of hope going into him going in the keys gives a lot of Yankees fans. Hope they can maybe this can be that as we need or that. I am award. Widow we need. I don't think the ink is are done either. I think they'll go after a pitcher though, if I had to Yankees are never done the off season. I think that they don't get Machado. And I think they don't get Harper either. But I do think they could get a go at Corbin. He's the potentially the top free agent pitcher, Dallas kaikal is a free agent. Like, there are other guys that may not be as big names, but could bolster their starting rotation. So. It will be interesting to see kind of where they go from here. Only the only way up for the Yankees at the moment. And again, four point six million is what they're paying Paxton. So they didn't give up they didn't acquire somebody who's eating up a ton of payroll. So it still allows them the flexibility to go out and buy one of these free did get lucky with the the money. He has. Right, right. Is he he could be worth so much more. Absolutely. Absolutely. Okay. Other than that the Oakland as they acquired right handed pitcher, Tanner Anderson from the pirates. For a player to be named later. Sounds like I don't know if that really moves the needle at all he made he was wanna know last year in six outings. So. Who knows but the one win, no losses. The as are always making these types of moves. It feels like something that may look like, it's inconsequential. And it turns out to be a big.

"Yes, can go to hell. I love him. He's. That was a good idea. I love that, man. I don't care. What idiom saying. Oh, great guy. Good stuff. Better questions. Yeah, let's do it. Nail them. Between Nola Shire's her and Graham who gets the Cy Young this year and who will be the most Irving rate actually winning a word? I know we sort of touched on this, but I'm going to you have to answer this right now who is going to actually win. Sherzer leads in case for nine total strikeouts whip. You leads in the in the stallion categories. As I say in the domination stations, matcher it is max Scherzer Jacob degrom, very deserving. It is not him. It is max Scherzer max Scherzer wins the Cy Young. It is max sherzer is my winner. I think I think I'm going to go a Dallas here. I think Sirs her, and this is also sort of projecting with these guys are going to do in September. So at that also in mind, I'm going to go with sherzer, but I think there's a part of me that feels like it's it's the grump here like he may be should win it again because I was like, yeah, we'll talk about this a week or two because I haven't really, really crunched the numbers the up to date numbers the last time that I looked which was out no, maybe like a month or so ago. It was sure no doubt. But now obviously, I, I saw some staffers. Like seventeen of the twenty four starts or whatever it was that that degrom is made all been against teams that are five hundred better like that should count for something. So, yeah, I think the the gap between the two are tightening, but I would still give it to sherzer. I think the Graham will win. I'm fascinated to see what sort of support Nola gets because like a lot of his case is built on the idea that he has prevented runs despite playing in front of like a uniquely bad defense behind him and not just not just that the Phillies defenses bad, but that it has been even worse than normally is when Nola is pitching. I think that's perhaps a little too nuanced of a case, quote, unquote for the for him to get enough of the vote to overcome those two guys. I do think the grams shiny ERA may win out overall, but I think this could be one of the most tightly voted tightly contested Cy Young races that we've had an either league and quite some time. This is specifically for Dallas. The interview with your boy bones, body Crosby had me thinking, what is the difference in preparation? You would take either on game date ra- leading up to it studying different hitters, such in the minors. Compared to the majors. Well, when I was in the minor leagues, we did not have the technology that baseball has today. It was what you could you could, and I'm not joking. You could like in my minor league experience to a minor league experience of the fifties sixties seventies, and that's not joking. That's pitching coaches and folks of yesteryear telling me, wow, you guys are still doing the same shit. We were doing back then we didn't have radar guns, so that was the big difference. You just didn't have the information at hand either. So it was up to your pitching coach at the time to do the legwork and maybe get some scouting reports from folks around the league. Your advanced outing department might have that information, but it wasn't something when I was in the minor leagues that was being accessed by everybody. So I was an individual who did pay attention to certain numbers, like walk rates, first pitch swing rates. First pitch swing rates with runners in scoring position less than two outs. A lot of that kind of stuff. So in the minor leagues, you are here to do your job. You're here to make sure you understand how to fix yourself out on the mound. In a game scenario, it's about honing and refining your strength learning how to identify weaknesses. When you get to the big leagues, the bottom line, it's about winning fucking ballgames and the preparation, you better prepare for that just like the SAT or or fucking ACT or whatever. Other test you idiots paid to take high school, you'd better you'd better prepare for something like that. Definitely the dudes who take tests out of high school are the idiots. No-doubt. Good..
