Interview with Robin McBride and Andra McBride John

"It's possible. You've never heard of mcbride sisters wine and that you've never had one of their chardonnays or brute rose as or one of their blended reds and it's even possible. You don't drink wine at all. But I'm here to tell you none of this matters for the purposes of today's episode because even if all of the above applies to you, this story will change some of the things you might think about business about fate and destiny about overcoming incredible obstacles and mostly. About. Love. This story is so epic that we decided it needed to episodes. So this week you'll hear part one of how Sisters Andrea and Robin mcbryde built the McBride Sisters Wind Company, and next week you'll hear part to. I'll start with the basics. McBride sisters. Wine is now one of the largest black owned wind businesses in the world. There are roughly. Thousand winemakers in the US and McBride sisters wine is among the top two percent in terms of how much wine they produce per year you can find their wines at most major stores like target and Walmart. And they're also higher end. So about twenty bucks a bottle but still designed to be accessible especially, the people who might be intimidated by wine culture and this is the precise problem. Andrea and Robin said out to solve how to open up the sometimes intimidating world of wine appreciation to people normally shut out young people, people of Color women but also make the wine good enough to attract wine. Snobs. Robin Andrea actually founded their business in two thousand five. And they faced just about every barrier imaginable. They were young women of color with no immediate access to a winery no money no connections. But what they shared was a passion, a deep abiding passion for wine. Something else they shared. A bond that was forged in a unification. The two sisters were born nine years apart both have different mothers but share the same father and for most of their early lives neither sister new, the other even existed. But remarkably both women grew up in wine producing regions Andrea the younger sister grew up near Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in New Zealand well, almost seven thousand miles away for older sister robin was living in. Monterey California with her mom. My mom and our shared father a divorce when I was a baby and so it was only she is. So she never remarried. She didn't have any more children She really honestly didn't even very much. I was aware of anyway she hid it from me. I'm not sure and she didn't have a large family at all. She was an only child also so it was really just her and I together in the world you know we were really. Had a really strong bond and really quite dependent on each other and when you were growing up, you didn't have much contact with your dad right none at all. You know a little context. My mom wasn't thrilled with our father when they divorced and you know it was no accidents that they weren't in communication. It was something that she wasn't interested. In doing so for me from a really young age I was just always you know as a child who has a missing parents I was just always like you know where is he? What's going on? Why is it my dad or my life? You know I had a lot of questions from my mom And she was like, well, you know she always told me like you know he's probably noaa somewhere and she's like I don't want to have any communication with him. She's like. Grow Up and do your thing. Right. When you're eighteen, you know if you feel like you want to start a search to find him go ahead and do that, and so I'd always planned. It was always something that I wanted to do because I did want to figure out who this mysterious person was and hopefully have a chance to meet him. What kind of things were you interested in as a little girl? I was a really weird sort of child and I think part of that has to do with the fact that you know I didn't have like cousins around and we didn't have a larger family dynamics that was really kind of you know alone are little bit. But that had me outs exploring the world's a lot kind of on my own. So you know just really curious about nature and the environment and kind of more of that than people in socializing. Aspects of the world so kind of a little a little bit of a different

The Color of your Plates and Bowls

"I recently received a text from a dear friend of mine that read what are your thoughts on brightly colored dishes. I found some online that I absolutely love but I don't want to be stuck with something that might not go great in our house in the long run I like the plates and bowls so much that I might consider a planning a room around them though. To which my answer was there is actually a lot of psychology behind this and I should do a whole episode just on this question. So here we are when I looked on Pinterest, the category of Michelin Star Pleading, not, surprisingly, the images that came up were either in white or black plates leaving the business of dazzling you and your taste buds up to the food. I tried the search again using the words food plating and again white and black plates dominated the screen. As. A lifelong photographer myself. One of my most favorite areas of work was clary photography and when photographing in restaurants, the star of the show had to be the food itself with ambiance coming in as a close second after all, why do we go there in the first place to indulge in wonderful food that you yourself don't have to cook and to be embraced in an environment that allows you to linger and enjoy good company the same holds true in your home. According to an article by NPR, which I will site in the podcast notes Charles spent an experimental psychologist at Oxford. University who has dedicated his career to studying how environment affects the way we experience food and drink he has found for example that the weight and color of our utensils can affect how sweet or salty of food tastes. And people tend to enjoy the same dish more when it has a longer more descriptive name. In, the perfect meal, the multi sensory science of food and dining spence and psychologist betting pick yetters fiszman in the Netherlands explore how even the most minute adjustments can enhance the dining experience. The perfect meal means something different to everyone spent says, but there are commonalities and the quest of looking for the perfect meal leads to a lot of interesting research. As any good chef will tell you how the food is arranged on a plate makes a big difference. When the plating is artistic people tend to enjoy the food more than if the same ingredients were just dumped on the plate spence and his colleagues found that people enjoyed solid more when it was played it to resemble a Candan ski painting. The shape and color of the dinner where can affect taste as well in general round white fleet tend to enhance sweet flavors in food whereas black angular plates tend to bring out more savory flavors and serving food on a red plate tends to reduce the amount diners eat. Why we know that if we change the actual color of the food or drink, it can change the taste and flavour he says. For, example Dia Glass of Sauvignon Blanc read and your brain may trick you into thinking. It tastes more like a Merlot. The same food can look different when it's based on different color plates spent says and flavor our perception.

Not for seven ninety nine not this time that does happen from time to time. But this is from Owl Ridge. Wine Services, which has been a company. Out of Russian river since two, thousand, four, they they're accustomed crush private label. You know if you want to start your own wine label, you go to them and you know you tell them what you want. They'll make it for you and label it and you can. You can make your own company and sell it to stores. Are you. If you're a trader, Joe's though, make you wanting to. And this is from the Russian river and they've been at it since two thousand four, which gives them years of having. Contacts with the local vineyards and wineries. So they have good resources. Trader Joe's as you know. Price Advantages Basically they don't advertise they don't have to. have. A distributors go store to store trying to sell their wind getting the shelves. Everything's done a front. I think they pay for it upfront to I'm not always sure about every single deal. But I do know that that is what happens with these wines. Once they contract for it and they pay for an upfront, it's there's to sell or not sell. So that's what we have going here, and this is blocked from the Russian river valley. I think I've had many of those Russian river is a wonderful place for one. There's some high end wineries in there. I like my soviet-bloc young without a lot of aging bottle not a lot of production techniques. Crush the grapes do what you gotta do bottle maybe eight just a little bit. "Something that feels good and W T O P. WINE columnist Scott Greenberg has an idea to help in today's wine of the week. Hello, Scott. Hello, Hillary. So before we dive into this segment, let's remind everyone they have to hydrate with non alcoholic beverages before they pop that cork it so absolutely water. Water. Water. Water, water water Now that went fine wine. Yes, Now that we've dealt with that Let's talk about the best way to stay cool Sauvignon blanc. Educate us, Mr Greenberg. Well, I just think these air a fire extinguisher for the Tom. So it's all about that crisp acidity. Hillary. We want that Christmas city and those bright, wonderful Delicious fruit flavors. So I just love seven year belongs in the summer. All right to the wines. First up, we head down under. What do you like? Well from New Zealand. I mean, they've definitely got the style than in the 2019 Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc from the marble region of New Zealand displays beautiful sense of gooseberry little grassy notes on the nose. I love the right flavors of passion, fruit and pair. They really exhibit great intensity upfront. And throughout that Chris finished $12. South Africa makes a decent sauvignon blanc Scott. Which one are you focusing on? Yeah. Hey, listen, if you're heading to the beach anytime soon, maybe the 2019 Spear seaward sauvignon Blanc from Stellenbosch, Beautiful Roma's of green melon, gooseberries and green. Hey, they just were all about on that nose. But then you get crisp, delineated flavors of melon, White Figel Citrus. They just put a show on for the tongue Love the crisp acidity, $17. All right Time for the last stop on our global tour. Where are you taking us? Well, you can talk about Sauvignon Blanc without including example from the epicenter of Sauvignon Blanc, the Loire Valley of France. So the 2018 Paschal Jova Hey, who may displace Prominent Roma's of gooseberry and grapefruit on that aromatic knows, But it's the refreshing flavors of grapefruit, Kiwi and lemon line that come together on a crisp racing finished. And it's really bullied by this beautiful minerally notes. Reminiscing a little bit of oyster shells. Just absolutely love this wine. $30 Scot that French becomes you. Thanks, Scott. Happy weekend. "Savvy on blocked twenty eight thirteen. It's from. Chateau St Michelle one their line of Wine successor mostly from the Force Haven Bills Avian and Some from the Yakima Valley Av. Wasn't all that long ago? That Washington state lines would have said Columbia Valley on the label, but they seem to be getting away from that. And pushing Washington state's rather than Columbia Valley and the Individual Av. Inside the Columbia Valley I don't know if people thought the Columbia. Valley was in California up. But. I think it's a good thing. Letting people know what what is good. And I don't really have a whole lot of experience with Washington State's Satyam, block. So it's GonNa, happen to drink this one, and it's not the same old same poll. I'm a notice got that Grassy Aroma. You get New Zealand, but not much else in New Zealand. And this. Liquid life has great acidity. It's. I like a white line where you. are reaching for another, SIP. Before you even think about Richard Precipitous this one does that. That's named after the fifth. Form of matter. What's the other four? Solid liquid gas and plasma. And what the fifth one is I don't know. I. Guess It's Liquid Light. and. It's going to attend. Branca's not the same old same old, but it tastes really I'm. kind of like taking a break from Saab on black, still drinking savvy beyond blunt. It's got a little bit of a husker mouth. Feel to it little bit more rounded with tarp waiver. You have tons of flavor tastes good. And I like it. It's one of those wines that you I tasted you. Know and then after a while ago. Yeah I. Do know it's pretty good. And it's named after some scientific thing that I don't understand so. It makes me feel dumb. I'll feel smarter after I drink. took another SIP. Because of the city does do that, too. So there you go, I don't have to say about this one. It's beyond blankets for summertime, if tastes great. chateau same Michelle knows how to make good value priced wines. They also make ion wines to. They have they have. "A 30 W. C. C. E o to You 7 45 is our central time And it's time for a wine chat with your friend Jack Farrow from Haskell's Good Morning, Jack by things going today. Things are going well and I'm going. I'm going to stay in the shade today. I thought yes. You know, it's a matter of fact. That's what I thought we talked about today. Some hot weather winds and you know White wine always comes to mind. And then they're friends of mine that are a B C's on white wine, And that means anything but chardonnay and that's cutting about fair chardonnay is the greatest white way. In the entire world. Told mints, Burgundy, France and all the white ones throughout the world that our chardonnay are descendants from those grape types from Burgundy, and no one would disagree That probably For white Burgundies greatest expression of chardonnay in the world, although we follow very, very close on their heels with the wonderful chardonnays we're making in California. But today in keeping with the ABC let's talk about some other white wine get overlooked because they fall in the shadow. Of Chardonnay recently is one of the great white grape types in the entire world, and it has undergone a battering like no one has ever seen. Some of the dry Rieslings are just wonderful wines to drink, but they become relatively unpopular in the last 20 years. It used to be. We would self thousands of cases of one's called elite brown milk, which means Virgin mother's milk, and that's a story unto itself. And then Mosul. Bump shin, which means flower. The Mosul may wind, which was always real popular, the first to make everybody had to have may want but anyway It's changed a lot with this great Type reselling, which is one of the three great white wines in the world. The three being chardonnay Sauvignon blanc and recently R. It's grown in the deep Steve Vineyards in the Mosul on the Rhine and the great wines are hard to grow their difficult, etcetera. And ordinarily used to be fairly expensive is a matter of fact. It's hard to imagine, but 300 years ago. They sold probably 10 times as much German wine around the world as they do today, and there's a lot of reasons for that. But the lines were originally introduced by the Romans to recently and AH, the poet Ozone Ius of Bordeaux, was known to plant recently before he discovered his property Ozone. In Bordeaux. Mosul has been up and down as the Rhine has supplier of wine for a long, long time. Some very good reasons. Incidentally, come from the finger Lakes. Region of New York City. But medieval Germany helped spread the wine culture all over Europe and the greatest states like hat time slot civil rights law, Johannesburg Are. We're considered the finest wines available in the entire world For hundreds of years, the the Rheingau and Mosul in all that compromise, the northernmost growing wine growing area in the entire world, and the lines from that area really not be overlooked. If you're having smoked trout with something Horse radish sauce. There's nothing better than a recently or smoked pork chop. Everything would be perfect with that, but they just followed out of favor and we You should try a recent one for a while, just for the fun of it. Because it's a great, great, great type, and it really doesn't deserve to be overlooked the way it hasn't Today. People like Dr Thomas was more famous for his burn counselor, doctor. Makes a straight resealing. That's kind of bone dry. About 10 $12 about those re swings at that level really aren't To be overlooked. They're nice ones, and they have a place in the lexicon of the wide world. For example, on a hot day like today, If you're having some smoked fish, tall ice Cold Riesling would go perfectly with that. Now. The next one in the top three, of course, is Sauvignon Blanc Sauvignon Blanc. Together. Another one has its home in France in the Loire Valley and then Bordeaux. Bordeaux. It's The other great white type white, grape type semi old and most of the white Bordeaux Zahra blend of semi Oh, and sauvignon blanc, depending on The producer, etcetera what the ratio is making more so when your block others have more semi but sauvignon blanc itself. Is indigenous to southern France. In fact, Sauvignon Blanc is related to cabernet sauvignon. Genetically, um, and people have heard me talk nauseum. I'm afraid Unsung there sounds there is sort of. In my opinion. The Sauvignon blanc that has his masters or maybe even a doctor's degree because it's such a wonderful expression of sauvignon blanc. But Sylviane Blanc is an adaptable would So it's produced all over the world. South Africa Chili In New Zealand, 85% of the exports are silver Neuro Block, and New Zealand has done a tremendous job in popularizing Sauvignon blanc all over the world, even remote areas like China. Etcetera just seemed to love that sauvignon bloke that comes from New Zealand and the course in Newzealand folks responsible. For the screw cap enclosure at least popularizing it as 90% of the wines produced in New Zealand have screwed it up. And they made the whole world cognizant that screwed up doesn't mean that the wine is sub quality or anything else is a fine fine. Fine. Why? Are now made with screw chop closures. Anyhow, the Sauvignon Blanc is a marvellous one, and whether you get one from Chile, or you give one from Washington State or California. There's a place for them and I particularly like white Bordeaux's, which are a blend of semi on and Sylviane book, and they really are perfectly fine to have with any kind of shellfish. Ah, White Bordeaux If you having lobster or you're having even gray fish or something like shrimp, shrimp, cold shrimp sell another day like today. Have AH, refreshing glass of white Bordeaux with be just absolutely a marriage made in heaven. Then we get to the other white wines in the world. For example, Pino Grigio, Pino Grigio and Pino. Greed are exactly the same grape type and Pino Grigio is produced in Italy. And a bruised all over Italy from Sicily to all the way the foothills of the Alps and it's reasonably popular. It's a very light easy wanting to drink. In my opinion, Pino Grigio makes the perfect purity for it. It doesn't take away from any of the other lines. You're going tohave. You're gonna have two or three wines with a very.

You don't want to go, you know. vitas graphic drink. They don't think. That's a good. Thought not that thing thinking all that important when you're drinking. Whatever? Here. We go, so this is. Every day. Saab Yom Block. This is the kind of wine that people in France drink fits. If it's eleven dollars here, it might be a couple of bucks cheaper. They're. Going to blow out your budget, and this is this, is it? This is great. Taste doesn't have that the spiky thing you'd get from. New Zealand Samuela. Flay or spikes, which is actually kind of appealing Ben. Can't complain about that is that is kind of what's cool about? New Zealand soviet-bloc. This kind of got. More. Smoother all encompassing thing going on just the knows is beautiful flavors rate. It's just easy to SIP. You want to keep drinking it. Really this my favorite you know can of. This is one. The first Lower Valley Sabi on blocks written about and we've been doing. Cheap wine finder for. Eleven years. That's kind of like the point where. Going to the grocery store to buy Saab Block now. I'm going to have to go find. A good wine shopping leg fight my way through the sand sears every be jumping out at you and just trying to find a good simple everyday savvy on blind.

"Team land presumably corporate wine educator for light house wine and spirits in Beverly let let's talk about the challenge of matching a good wine with a good salad really has to do with the salad dressing it is extremely high in a city with a lot of red wine vinaigrette can be very tough to come up with a good match but it's possible I actually paired by really over the hill old Italian Sauvignon blanc that had no social redeeming value at all your city with a very high acid level salad dressing and it was one of those magical acts for just walked out of the wide that wasn't apparently there at all the other interesting thing is sometimes you'll come across really unexpected great matches and that happened to me once when I was asked about finding a white wine that work with apple he pizza I did over forty matches with that forty different white but I thought might have a shot and if it turns out New Zealand Sauvignon blanc with amazing with it in active we could match the intensity of the city's play off the sauce which softened that is there was something about that underlying fruit that kind of bell pepper they played beautifully off the pepperoni as well and you just noticed man this really works thank you so much we covered all food wine restaurants dining and much more here on connoisseurs corner WBZ Boston news radio weather together Subaru retailers of New England all wheel drive.

"Added another one review. We've had a couple of extravaganza podcast lately. And this is just another one. The regular everyday winds we got to feature and want to talk about. And you know I think I've been kind of in a little bit of a rat lately because every wine I write about either a Zinfandel or a cabinet or a Chardonnay or Soviet block and I've got no salvio blocked today but it ain't the same old same old. It's kind of a cool one and Got A story up. Then it's got up. It's Kinda Nice wine and it's the High Valley Vineyards Twenty eighteen savvy on blankets from the High Valley. Av AV which is inside. Lake County in northern California which is just north of NAPA. Actually the this is a part of Shannon Ridges Line Wise Shannon reg has a couple thousand acres of vineyards and they have it in Lake County and their main headquarters is about thirty five miles away from Napa and then they have vineyards yards in Napa and other places to. They bought half of their grapes. They make wine. They have a bunch of labels all really nice labels this High Valleys of really nice wine and on the other half they sell so you probably had Shannon Ridge grapes anyway and not even know it. But they're out there and you know a lot of winds if they California and the label. It's somebody from the central coast. Passovers Monterey Bassem Grapes and added it with these north coast grapes in that. So these are high quality vineyards I valley is in the northeast section of Lake County. It's in the mountains. They're like three thousand feet up like sixty eight hundred three thousand you know. We're Kinda like talking Argentina or Chili or something like that. It's way up there. It's got volcanic soil. It's unique this a single vineyard wine Betsy Vineyard. I paid eleven. Ninety nine for the it was on sale. The weird thing about it. Is that down weird? It is but it list on website. Twenty seven dollars and now it's not unusual to have a discrepancy between what's on a wineries website and what it sells for in the store because most of them are quite often these. The wine shops is where they make their money and make all their sales in especially Simpler Lake County which isn't as touristy. You're not getting people coming to you. Know their wine bar their cellar door in buying wine from there for the same price. So they're they pretty much live on wine shops they. They price themselves higher just so they don't compete in Canada. Make wine shops mad. You don't want to undercut them or you know have sales and beat them up. You want wine shops working for you. So twenty seven dollars to twelve dollars is kind of weird thing and I do believe this is a wine that should cost more. It's got it really nice bottle. For Savvy on blunk heavy. N-normally Samuel blocks are brightened juicy in fun wines and I'm talking about so much I'm going to take a drink so hold on one second and it's really you know when I started writing about force. I'm kind of looking forward to this. It's not going to be New Zealand's not going to be. Lower Valley is not going to be a coastal chilly. It's not going to be central. Goes California's GonNa be something different and it was and it was kind of really cool clash of different things. It was bright in juicy tart fruit and citrus along with this kind of austere side. It was brooding and it was a fun sunshine. Springtime in a battle had both elements kept on doing two different things at once. And kind of not clashing. Cata still going together. You can taste them. I kind like that wine where it's not just a simple wine. There's something going on. There's a hard edge here. There's a soft edges. There's Tartan their sweet the others the other salty they're smooth. There's it's category really nice wine. One thing you almost never get with inexpensive a savvy blocks and you get a lot of really good inexpensive Soviet inbox. But you don't get them like a New Zealand. They're they're a taste of whatever Marlboro. Whatever they might come from six different vineyards. You know Here it's a single vineyard mean it's it's got to Wa Wa is what the French are big. I if you own a your own vineyard and you make your own wine have for a long time. It's kind of like your relationship with at Vineyard on a vintage basis. Where every year you have to adapt to what happened in the vineyard and those changes manifest itself in your wine and that's gonNA leave for French wine and California's a little bit different in there are winds expensive wines but most wiser you know kind of spread out a little bit and where they came from. And you don't get the same winemaker for sixty years and he teaches his son winemaker for another forty years. You don't get that kind of thing going on but this one has some terroir going on for ninety nine or twenty seven if you buy it at the shop at their stop shop and it's a kind of a nice wine and it has Yin Yang thing has a little this and then a little that little this little that it tastes great? It's got apricots has got Unsweetened pineapple it's got lemon got Peach it's got what you want an Sabi on Baga Stab Brighton juicy necessarily. It's got a harder edge to and it's not like all the other ones and it doesn't you know sometimes like in Bordeaux were there block. Their white wines is Saban block with semion and they're more expensive in their age and some of these things can go twenty five years You know in an aging and that's a whole different story in. There's not that. Many of that most savvy blocks. Brighton. Juicing don't a lot of money and this one doesn't cost of it but a Scott complexity in Scott an edge and Scott. Some you know you you actually might. WanNa pay attention when you drink you know. After the first step of the bright juicy ones tastes great news. Keep on drinking this one you. The second SIP might be different than the first sip and the third step. We know what's going to happen there. So yes it's kind of a cool line what is called the High Valley Vineyards Soviet block two thousand eighteen also the two thousand eighteen vendors. That was longer stuff finished. They've ever had in Shannon Ridge has been around for at least twenty five years and the owners been in vineyards management and everything else for longer than that so it was a long vintage. Let's the grapes. Be All they can be up there. It's it's cool and the high altitude chills things out and they'll just lets them go without being stressed and get a good vintage in the kind of look for the two thousand eighteen. You can I think they make enough of this to go round Shannon Ridge has a bunch of different labels and just look at it and another thing they do. Is THEY They use sheep to cope mean to help in the vineyard. It kills all the the overgrowth in the weeds and Fertilizes the vines. It's I put a link to on the website With review of Wine Dot Com which goes the whole cycle. How they're using sheep to help with a growing thing and they're sustainably produced and all that type of good things up there so they're good citizens and they've got an interesting story in the wine Sabio. Bach is not your typical Soviet block most inexpensive. This is stainless steel barrels. Most of them. I kind of like I like soviet-bloc some like better than others. But yeah usually in. This is different. This one has a little bit different edge. It's well worth drinking. It's not the same old same old but it's it's got some weight behind it. I've been saying wait a lot lately but to me. That means it's got something you want to hold onto something. You WanNa contemplate something you want to look forward to and that's that that's me. We're in Chicago here in a couple of weeks or the restaurants are going to start open up. Hopefully things are better. Hopefully no one gets sick again. I think we had one hundred and fifty fifty people die yesterday or something doesn't seem to get better but people seem to need to go out anyway. So there you go. I hope you're being well off the holidays going to be good. We're keeping got some cool lines coming up. And that's why I keep a cheap until the next time addy owes over and out and Baba.

"Comes from Marlborough. Which is on the South Island and like something like ninety five percent of all the wine on net to all the wine all be Sabam blocked from New Zealand Jones from Marlborough and on the North Island. More likely to be Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon or even surrounded. They're kind of getting known for surrounding a little bit more boat. Tiki. I. There's some pretty big wineries in the South I on. This is a little bit different and I thank God. I said I think only four to six percent of the savvy blonde comes from the North and this is Hawke's Bay in Tijuana. I think its name of it is is In the middle of transitioning to organic wines and the wildflower vineyard as where this came from. Is You know as an indication that when you're ganic you can't use Pesticide so you're using You know wildflowers to attract the right kind of Insects that kill the bad insects. And that's what it's all about and I guess this is not a certified organic wine. They're still transition. They have the vineyards. Are this one's not gonNA take a SIP because North Ireland Savvy. Block is not the same as South Island. So got a refresh my memory. Because I need to do that. It's still tastes great. But it's not the big in bold grassy wines that you get from the South Island this has got a little bit softer edge to a little bit Little bit a little bit more rounded. It's still got great. Flavors still got peaches and pineapple and pear apple and Tropical fruit those type of things. But it's just a little softer nice spice in there just a little softer little more rounded still got great acidity though the flavors unfold and unfold. It's got great flavor but it's not these big mad dog Saban blacks. It's you know it has not made any difference. It's still a young savvy on making a wine that I've just you know crushing the grapes for men in that Agent for a few months on lease one is on lease. You'll get that salty thing going on Which it which is which is cool so you get that salty cashew things on league games and and that's Kinda for me the way to I like my saw beyond block. You know Saudi-owned blocked with a with a little semion is the white wine aboard dough and they have some Their their blocks their white wines can age twenty five years when made that way and it's a whole different style. I kind of like the younger fruitiere. Not that that's a bad style at all but you know the other. The younger style is so good. It's almost like you gotta really want to try the other stuff to the the age worthy. Stuff detri- Saab Block does really well. Young fresh bright and this is no exception. But it's not the same. It's just think I don't know if it's warmer up there and it doesn't have the other. Because I know those southbound Marlboro is Kinda cool. The water down there is on. The ocean really cools up vineyards. On this is unabated too and it's one the cooler areas up tire so in the higher elevations in Hawke's Bay. I'm GONNA take another SIP it. It is really a good wine. It just not what? You're expecting much rounder. A mouthful really. Kinda cool on that. And that's and this is a single vineyard one. I think I found it for twelve ninety nine. Don't you think it was on sale? I think again I I picked it. Because of the label you can pick the label. The what's this label get a win a wild songs name of it and there's like Branches with leaves in Saul at gold on it. And it's pretty and it's just looked like something and again you can buy a wine from the label. 'cause that's this is an Transitioned organic wine. It's bright it's fresh full of flavor. You know it's almost organic not quite in the label. Kind of tells you that's what's going to happen and you can do that with wine and that it works. And like I said it's a. It's not the crazy crazy but it's not the big bold grassy. I know one of the Roma is that Marlboro South Island soviet-bloc and have cat P and there's no cat in this one so that's a good thing and as much do like Marlboro Saba mock kind of like this too. And it's like there's plenty of room for both at the price. A single vineyard boutique wine net That is just simply made in kind of pretty. It's for thirteen bucks. You can't get too many single vineyard wines for Thirteen Bucks. Especially these aren't huge. Bill Vineyards Lot of times. You get single vineyard wine in this price range. It turns out the the vineyard two miles long or something. It's like it has enough wine of you know to fill up a lake but now this is just a smaller Vineyard Maine. It's not real small but it's it's it's bow take and it's pretty nice and it's I don't know what to tell you. It's not what you're expecting. But it's well worth train rounded. It's got great fruit. It's not as tired but it's got good. Tropical fruit and Scott. Pineapple Guava on some tart and some sweet and some salty in. What else can you ask for us? you know it's just good and that's it for me. I just like this wine. Take another SIP. Which tells you the three sip wine in romance seven nineteen now. We're hardly going anywhere any. It's it's kind of funny when I first started When the shutdown I happen at the on probably GonNa do this every two days? Do Wine Review and it's gotten hired to actually go out and find wine because you're only supposed to go to the stores in Chicago For necessary items. I actually did go to a liquor store and bought unbought wine from a liquor store. But you're not really supposed to and I tried to go to trader Joe's because that's always a fan favorite. Everybody wants to know the new trader. Joe's wine is and there's a line out the door though it thirty people in no line was fifty hours long and I don't think that's safe in onum. It's getting hard to get wine. I mean I've got enough. I've been did but I'm not. I'm getting what I'm grabbing. I imagine it'll be the same way I'm going to try to keep it cheap because sometimes we go a little more upscale not too high but because not everybody has got money coming in and he he's still WanNa drink and I'm going to try to do some cheaper wines Get enough wind for this week. Next week I'm going to try to go cheap just to just to be just because it might be easier to find and finding a good cheap line's always fun out. Maybe I'll get up early enough so I can get into trader Joe's where the crowd gets there but that's that and I hope everyone's well Let's drink up to your health and Keep a cheap until the next one which won't be too many days but I don't WANNA run out of wine until I actually get the other wine but I think there's light at the end the tunnels of hang in there and I'll talk to you and a couple of days.

"Coming at you in lockdown as usual. They didn't take away IRA booze so we have wind today and we have another one. We put on cheap wine. Finer DOT COM. This one is six ninety nine wine from trader Joe's It's produced For them by the central coast wine warehouse. Which has been making wine for trader? Joe's just as bad as long as Bronco wines who make two Buck Chuck. Hab and this one is a very pretty labeled Scott Monique Sellers savion blocked Monique to the Bibliotheque. It basically I think that's my French in high school actually. I didn't take French in high school. But it's got a beautifully covered with flowers. It's a beautiful labor labels of savvy blocks from the central coast eighty. Am California and Yeah it's six ninety nine. What more do you ask for you? This is a Netflix special here sitting around nothing to do six ninety nine. All you can buy a couple bottles of this and you can go to trader Joe's when you're picking up other items and out there. The winds in the store were buying the oil it. Actually grocery stores have great wine nowadays but trader. Joe's have sixty-nine wines. You're picking up other items in you can get this though. Still go to your wine shops. They need you In this mass as much as anybody else does so by wind from wine shops but you can make quick run and hit one storing. Get your food and your and your wine I think I bought with this I got the the the orange chicken the orange chicken and a few other things but this is a nice little savvy. Young Block which I'm going to talk about and there's a few things about this I want to say is normally. How would you say about seven dollars? Six thousand nine hundred block. You kind of know what? You'RE GONNA get nowadays. It's Kinda know what to expect L. and that's fine but I don't take a sip because it's good drinking for last few years like most people on New Zealand's Albion Block all the time my actual favorite is lower value soviet-bloc Nat San Sierra mean. That's good but I just like the regular lore valued. You can't find anywhere because in France they don't Wanna be your ten dollar wine guy. They want to sell it to you for twenty five dollars and twenty five dollars as much as I liked. Lower Valley Sauvignon Blanc. You might as well by the seer. But under normal circumstances the thirteen dollar stuff is every bit as good as healer stopped in. How do you define joy? It's a joy to drink and the other stuff which is works for them. That's a joy to drink. Oh so it's better. Now get the get the cheaper stuff. Especially when a young bright fruity wine and this one key because it wasn't like News Zealand. Some misses a little bit subdued. I don't know I started drinking it but as I started taking a few sips it started to hit me in. Its own way. Yeah it is a little more subdued. But it's still has good flavors as a lot of flavors and obscenity which I thought was os not quite as crisp and brightness. Some of them well had Kinda got me smack in my lips a little bit. Which makes me drink more wine. You know. That's that's the same thing as having a bowl of pretzels and stuff at a Bar Star. Eaten those things and next thing you know you're drinking more beer will saab on bond has a built in the next thing you know. You're drinking more savvy on block which was six ninety nine the tweet by two bottles stuff and it's really nice and central coast. Wine warehouse has been making wines for trader Joe's forever and it sounds like Caterpillar industrial place. But they're actually fifth generation wine makers who have A roots going back to the eighteen hundreds and making wine and they actually own maybe a couple of the most acclaimed of vineyards in the central coast. Not that this came from them. I don't think it shouldn't for that price but there aren't there legit the and this is the This is the contract wind. Mean if you want to get in the wine business and you want someone to jump start by making a wine for you that you think you then sell to other people. They will do that for you. If you have a corporation that you want to give her Make wine this Christmas and put your own label on that to let people know that you're around. They'll do that for you and if you're trader. Joe's you WanNa make a wire mill do that for you too. I don't think it's you know doing it for yourself is going to be all that cost effective because you can go to trader. Joe's and get something for you know six ninety nine but it can be done and they know what they're doing in central coast. Wine is something pretty cool. Yeah there's one thing people used to say the worst. Where do you get the best cheap wines? Go chilly your or million South Africa or something. That's not really they actually can't compete the central coast. I mean you bring it up from any place other from from another country you gotta you gotTa get an importer and you gotta get transportation. And then you got to add the distribution and and all that and there's taxes in every single way you gotta come in really really cheap to beat the central coast winds and the central coast kind of known. Americans WANNA drink men. They're here than they know. Not that the owned the Chile Argentina. South Africa and Australia. Don't know 'cause they all bring good wine but they would much rather ship it. Sell you twenty nine hundred forty dollars or sixty dollar wise it just makes more economic sense for them and you know all these central coast nail and even the Central Valley where you go into Lodi. There's an awful lot of winemaker in winemaking families and vineyard families that have been in business on this land since the eighteen hundreds and the ones that haven't had been there been there since a nineteen sixties. They they been there and bought these properties before the prices got crazy. So if you're thinking about where the best inexpensive wind the world is you should be looking at California and the central coast and maybe a little central valley and even Sonoma's makes which is North. Coast makes winds ridiculously priced. Sometimes ill NAPA gets pricey but Mendocino every place else and you know it's California knows how to make wine and knows how to make wine. That people Ericans liked to drink so we have the central coast. Six Ninety nine Netflix special. It is kind of fun. Got A little bit personality. It's a nice little drink I mean what's you know you can spend more. And if you really love New Zealand you really love or value even Bordeaux where they make a Saab block with a little bit semion wines that you can aids for twenty five years and they're also finest wines in the world. I don't ever get to drink those and I get to drink the 699 stuff. So you know. I like that better. I like Ferraris too. But no one's let me drive there so so a Banda civics five with me. So there we go We're GONNA talk about a little bit about The lack down the overall stuck. And we're in Chicago and everybody's been good for the most part but the one thing I've noticed and I'm GonNa Complain Out Loud. Is that people who walk their dogs. Clean up after them before the lockdown because other people walking by and staring at him there's dog crap everywhere nowadays because there's no one behind them duck keep on woolen. Go and no one knows people. This is emergency. Don't be jerks. That's another thing I was thinking about every since you watch walking dead and you know all these Zombie Movies. You know how to act in a crisis you you don't do anything stupid do something selfish and stupid You'RE GONNA get bitten at happens in every show you you go with the crowd. You don't stand out do what's expected of you and you find. We learned that from watching walking dead in. Just you know be helpful. Don't be a jerk in you know. Don't go walking out a loan without a weapon and stuff. He pulled me on that show all the time for no good reason. So we're learning how to cope with the crazy things because we've been watching those shows for ever. That's kind of second nature. We know what to do so that's pretty good. I think you know we're so far so good I haven't gone to stir-crazy and maybe 'cause we have wine. There's no reason to go stir crazy now. I'M GONNA try to do is every other day to keep this going because and make it winds at you can find so you're not searching all over because there is no search all over right now so keep it cheap audio clip after your dogs and watch Y quit watching walking dead while back. But that's the point and Adios by by keep a coup cheap and I forgot what I was GONNA say there but keep a cheap In keep safe and I'll talk.

"Stay from she blindster dot com and we have another wind today to talk about this one. I happen to stop into trader Joe's just to Ram a few things and one thing. I noticed that this display was almost empty. Got One of the last ones. It seems to be popular so good. And what I grabbed was the Nakao Point Marlboro. Saban blocked twenty nine hundred eighteen yesterday. Nineteen New Zealand's on the other side of the equator winters and summers are reversed. So you know it works Two thousand nine hundred and plus young line. That's really attractive. Way To have Soviet block is right choosy and alive. That's that's a great. That really does well with just minimum aging and not a lot of different A technical things going on with it when they make it. Just you know. Let the grapes speak for themselves? And the other the knows going to be great. The flavors should be pretty good. You know if you know what you're doing you can come up with a really good wine and seemed to have known what they are doing here and on and I looked up Nick outpoint there is a fierce fearless flyer right up on it and but there's also some more and One of the weird things is that the not going to mention the name of the producer. Because when I got tried to get online because there seemed to be information about this one it was blocked as a militia site which I don't know someone hijacked through a website. They seem to be still ambitious. I've come in contact with before when somebody who shut down People find out about and they take their website. And you know. Do Nasty things to you if you accidentally go on that site. So I'm not gonNA name who this this producers. Maybe it's just a momentary thing or maybe it's a false positive on my And My router. But that's that and then there's all had a Nikko Point Sarah a couple of years ago and there was a nickel points a reserve. Saban on block. That was round for like ten years. I can't find any thing much past like the fifteen or sixteen vintage But that was from a single vineyard. Actually a small portion of a single vineyard wine that was on that retail store so this is a brand. That's been all be which is sold as a store brand and then it's been selling as a retail brand which they don't normally do that gets confusing I also saw that. They were selling like five hundred hectares. Which I guess. They're heck of an Acre I'm not sure hectares are but there's on five an Hawkes Bay so they're selling off land. So is this a distress sale? That trader joes managed to grab some wine from somebody needs to make you know generate some cash. Is this actually in? Just a you know a regular young Saviola Blonde shouldn't cost too much. Is it more expensive? And just they got a deal. I don't know but it tastes good. It tastes real good. I'm GONNA take a SIP because it's one of those bright juicy alive Salvia and that's the style I like. The best you can get soviet-bloc like in Bordeaux or they add a little semion and you can age those things for twenty five thirty years. They're amazing but I don't get them very often. No one's offering them to mean Don't you know when I get the young young ones? There's no reason to go get the other ones so I would like to try that. So the young Soviet block is a very very attractive Style of wine South flavors are really. It's a grapefruit mix with maybe peach so just when the grapefruit stars get tarp the Peach. Kinda cool out and it's got some women and some lime but the lemons kind of Rounded a little bit so not lemon lions tired. There's a lot of Nice flavors go down there. There's two apple and then there's the You know you get the analyst thing which is maybe a little bit nutty cash you and some salty things going on and he has got some Nice flavors. Going ON IN. The city is really balanced. Young blocks can be a little bit on the acidic side yet that with being agrees. Yo too but here. They've got it under control. I mean it just there. It's really nice and then awesome. You know it's like almost like tone on top toners flavors on top. The flavors hintze flavors. That are there which is really kind of Nice and really unexpected in five ninety nine. Why they're not really noticeable. When you take your time take your SIP and us. You know you kind of think about what you're drinking you need the you see that they're there. If you're just sipping with France and talking you're going to miss most of the things in the wines especially the nuance but this one has some nuances in spite of ninety nine line. Which is one of the great things about trader. Joe's you'd never know what you're going to find and I guess that the display was almost empty of wines. People found out about it. You know I think sometimes I try to get on the cutting edge rogue trader JOE'S. And maybe try to be able to point the way it looks like they put it in the way to me this time and I'm gonNA take another SIP before I go on because this is just a inexpensive Soviet. I'm blind from New Zealand. Marble Marlboros. The tap part of the South Island. That's were almost all the wind coming out of New Zealand comes from. It's got a lot of a basin crags and rocky Hans senators cold winds and Pacific Ocean breezes. It's a you know works well for wine and it's just a great place and you know. I don't know where this comes from. I don't know if this is you know I don't know if this is contracting vineyards. I don't know if it's contract vendors and estate vineyards though there wasn't a state vineyard one says a state bottle to stay bottle doesn't mean anything I mean. That's where you find bottling plants on a states. I mean if you're gonNA just means a bottle that doesn't mean much else but you don't always get a lot of information on these wines but it's five ninety nine and I don't see much difference between this and your typical ten twelve dollar Soviet block. You find on store shelves. I mean except this one is maybe has better acidity. I mean it's cities really really swollen. And it's got a great nose. Got Great Flavor Profile. It's five ninety nine. This is no issues. This isn't well. It's okay it's five ninety nine. I can accept its flaws of that price. Now this is fine. There's nothing wrong with this tastes. Great I mean it makes you wonder why you would ever spend more accept. This will sell out and you can't find it so you're going to have to spend more book a mets life and trader. Joe's so that's it for me This is a really tasty well-balanced Soviet block. It doesn't have you know there's there's flavors that used to be big. He read the wine magazines. I always talk about Cap. E and stuff like Oh. I'm not having anything with and this was another half. Capetian OMORI PLO capi. So that's it for me. Keep achievable comp or something a couple days Because it's always time for wine and that's it for me audio so I'll be talking to you and over now..

"Restarted For forementioned back in April. So it's it's a young wine which means don't bother aging it. The day you buy is pretty much the day you I probably should UNSCREW the top. DRINK IT I haven't been around. Your House is not GonNa make it any better but that's fine because you can pretty much by this one everywhere everywhere. It's all over. The place. Baggage has been around forever. This particular brand has been around since nineteen ninety once. We're going on thirty thirty years. Which means that it's been good for a long time and it is this is classic New Zealand Soviet bloc? Young Bright Bright Fruity bold but not too bold easy to drink. It's got this nice creamy thing in the mid pal which I really liked that. They don't always Hab. This one does and I think that's really enticing and it's just great what you want in a New Zealand Saban Blonde could but I've Kinda love New Zealand's on block. Ever since I was wearing them we've been doing the website for this is going to be our twelve years sometime this year. Our anniversary we don't even know when we started Burhanuddin is going to be an April or something And just before we started. When I think the first few times I've had New Zealand Saban Block block and back in those days? They also had a lot of Pinot Noir under twenty bucks and that's kind of dried up never ever seen New Zealand in an warning. Well I mean there are there but they were just as hot and his had just same kind of buzz that the blockhead but something happened to it and it's gone I don't know I I think they they might have gone upscale a little bit selling their You know shipping everything from New Zealand to compete with California's Pinot noirs probably wasn't the easiest thing in the world there are Sabio inbox in California. There's some good ones bump you know New Zealand's got the name I'm on that actually Lot of times you'll see and California SOM- blonde called fool may block because back the day that no one would buy Saab Yom block but slowly changing named who may block and start selling it so Sometimes if you will may block it. It's a made up name just but it Soviet block but that's the point because we're talking about New Zealand It's in the South Island Marlboro makes up about two thirds of all the winds coming out of New Zealand and one of the main people there. I mean if you're looking for a New Zealand Salvino beyond blocked there. You make all your daily daily rotation new winds. This is actually a really good. When there there are some very good labels Out of New Zealand. And this is one of the preeminent wants to. It's great one. I'm having a great time. You know you know light breezy bold flavors but smooth. You know you can sunshine in a bottle. It's like spring in the middle of winter and soviet-bloc doesn't have to be that way in in Bordeaux they They mix it with some semion and they even have some that are oak aged in there are Bordeaux blocks which is they never beauty. Never put some Soviet block on the bottle in Bordeaux you can agent for twenty five thirty years. They're like legendary. I never had one book So they tell me but I kind of like the young stuff. I think I am not limousine out too much. 'cause I'm really enjoying these. I'm GONNA take a SIP because I've got wine in my hand and I tend to take sips when I have a man. I don't think this podcast is GonNa be all that long because there's not too much to say about it it's good. It's what you expect from a New Zealand I block I think I found it on sale for nine ninety nine normally closer to twelve bucks ninety nine thousand nine. It's like hard to beat that it's really well. All made the producers been around forever. They know what they're doing. They make eighty percent of it. They said. Eighty percent of their savvy on blocks come from their own vineyards and the other twenty percent from contract vineyards. That's always one thing I see. Oh it's from our vineyard. We'll how do I know you're vineyards any better than the guy next door. I don't actually. It's a selling point. It sounds good and it can be good. But but since they've been around since nineteen sixteen you figure they know what they're doing wieners. Just some common sense point to wind too. So that's what we got here. It's a really nice young drink as soon as you buy it. Not In the way home. Wait to get out of the car and and there's other really good brands out there but this one is salad if you're looking to find a daily driver for yourself your own block of this. It's not a bad one to try. It's got that mid pell debt creamy thing in the mid pal that's really entice in it's easy to drink it's It does what you you want to do. And that's it for me keep it cheap over out Like I said what else can you say about a really good New Zealand. Salvio block it is his wooded is and what it is is good. So I'll talk to you in a few more days. We've got a whole year of stuff coming up and we're going to have some fun. Hopefully we can tip Peterson. Winds that you enjoy and and some lands you go. What the heck was he thinking but to each his own when it comes to wine and that is the key word here? You'll find find out what you want. Don't really go by what other people tell you. Don't well you can go by what I tell everybody else. Well yeah abyss a bit so there you go but the best thing you can learn about wine is what you like yourself and maybe if you listen to us and read us you can maybe would get a few tips and figure it out for your own self so audios and we'll talk to you later bye-bye.

And I thank you for taking the call. Yes, sir. Watchdog sunk bump in the basement and up until a month ago, which was it's still working fine. But every now, and then Eric comes up through the kitchen, and it goes. We can't figure out what was wrong. What's wrong with it? When the pump is running. Yes. Stops. And then all of a sudden this airbags up. Okay. And does the pump. Doesn't it pumps it into your sewer system? Non into the yard. Yeah. Overhead soars into the overhead sores. Okay. Yes. We probably have some sort of clog. In that line going into the overhead sewer, and what what may make sense is that we have to get it rotted out to to my guess is that when it's running there's some kind of obstruction in there, and it's slowing it down. And the gurgling is the back pressure coming up through the sink. Okay. Would they take the Jay pipe off underneath the sink and write it out from there? Now, I think it's where I think the issue is the where the pump goes into the main sewer line. Where's that? Like, I say, it's hurting the bathroom downstairs skinny man could get back. I'll be right over skinny me over there. Okay. Well, I mean, then what you may wanna do Charles is get a plumber to come out there and take a look at that. Do you have applauded that you work with down there? Yes. I do supposed to call him today. And that's what we're doing. Okay. All right. Cheryl shaded little you gotta happy holidays. Yes. "House genuine comes over the speakers. And suddenly everybody's going into magic Mike mode. Next thing. You know, you're getting a lap dance from some beautiful stranger. It was fun. It was a little wild. But is that considered cheating? I need to go to your house parties. Mine just include a lot of like sauvignon Blanc. Experts say no that is not considered cheating. According to them. I think intimate about lap dances. It's a business more than pleasure. And it's almost always harmless. But if you go to the strip clubs all the time by yourself and hide it from your significant other probably cheating. That's. I've known a lot of women that think going to a strip club is cheating. Well, it's interesting that they think that being in a chat room is cheating when you have no physical contact. But getting someone's privates rubbed up all on you fine. You're paying for it. If it's not cheating. If there's a monetary transaction. On all forms as long as there's money exchange. That is a business transaction do not cheating number two. You're physically attracted to your friend. Even though you're happily committed you think one of your friends is smoking hot. Is that sheeting go with? No, you can't you can't stop who you're attracted to and who you're not as long as you don't act on it. That's right experts. Say no that is not cheating experts say that it's completely unrealistic to expect people to never be attracted to a different member of the opposite. Sex problem is when you start wanting to hang out with this friend more than the person, you're in a relationship. That could be cheating. Yeah. Or if it's like, your girlfriend's friend. You're like, hey, invite her over. I haven't seen her in ages. What you want ladies night? Yeah. Just bring her over like, she's so nice. I just wanna talk to her for hours like in our bedroom with how you there. That's is that cheating and the number one potential cheating scenario wearing revealing clothes out in public. Oh, is that cheating ridiculous experts say if you're only dating no? But if you're married then. Yes. Ever heard. It says wearing revealing clothes is like putting an advertisement out there to the world they are actively searching for attention from strangers, and you are seeking sexual approval from others, or it could just be that you feel really self confident in your boobs look bomb in that shirt. And it's not your fault never made that way they say it's particularly violating. If you're married because the only person whose approval you should be seeking is your partner. In a dating situation. BS you've ever said saying a dating situation that's passable, but you can still expect your significant other to be.

I won't drink cheap crappy wine. I out. Right, exactly and that. But I did not. I I had never heard of this. There's a bunch of online wine stuff where you can get, but you, no, you get all the name brands you? No, but half the time. First of all, these screen, you don't realize it's like half a bottle. You're like, oh, that's a great price for. And then you're or there's so many ways that you go by the time he do shipping in this and that it's not really know that. Great. Ab- you know is not a great police. There's not. Access to consumers in direct to consumer business for wind is it's simply a channel typically, and for so many wineries if you did offer better pricing online, you get in trouble with your distributor. Right, right. So it's hard for them to do, right. Let's let's go to speaking of opening my palate. Let's let's try the sauvignon because I know I'm not. I'm not Salvin yawn person. This isn't. I would call this Uber tropical style big. This is a very ripe. Rich style of Napa. Sauvignon Blanc actually comes from hope valley, which is back up behind, say Stag's leap. Okay. And has really come alive. Oh my God, how I'm not just saying this because you're here because I was wondering how to navigate styles of wine that I don't like what you hear actually. The rest of those grapes and they will press those grapes and they will make red wine out of those yeah after president Know what's what's. Good pressure and a lot of times they take that, free run juice and they actually distill it into things like yes that's very interesting but it used to be they just throw. It. Away Yup They threw it. Away and it was the best okay what else is. High Pino garages real hot especially peanut. Garages, from, Italy and also and agree GIO. Have been hot for years now now yes they've had a really good run what about Sarah's Rumega comeback in your. Store and, will what we're seeing is is not too big of a comeback and Sara we've been hearing that it's, it's on the rise and perhaps in some, regions it is making a comeback but we haven't seen a big surge yet but we do have a. Great. Selection of straws and we we haven't given up on that varietal yet okay I'm gonna call? One, and. That is going to be sauvignon Blanc heartache yearly from New Zealand oh. Yes Zealand sauvignon blocked used to, be that you went to a wine store you're lucky you could find one and now there's a. Bundle of absolutely New Zealand's fussy about what Weinstein let out of, the country so you pretty chance if you buy a New. Zealand sauvignon Blanc you're gonna like it by. There are some big production ones now they tend. To. Be a little on A greenside they tend. To pick them a little too early. There? Little, heart I guess is what I. Was little tart yes and a lot of them are are described as having that grassy taste had lemon grass for. Instance when, you're a kid and you went out to the field and he sucked on a lemongrass a lot of, it has that kind of a taste to, it ought to people like it but made right you're gonna pick up the mushy tropical fruits mangoes papayas. Human. Some grapefruit peach which I consider sort of a tropical style fruit high Napa Lieven and you? Can, tell. The difference between Alvin young block from California and one from from New. Zealand instantly most certainly by that, characteristic we got time for just one more okay what do you think well when it comes to. Red wine I think the red blend category is the fastest growing, still in the red wine sector so interesting about that is. There there are no blends twenty years ago No there wasn't maybe even. Fifteen. Years ago no blends and it was actually sacrilegious the blend white unless it was aboard. Oh then, you could be the French could do it no you're not allowed to now Americans are going, crazy they're not just lending winds within a family like their own family or their Bordeaux family or the burgundy. Family they're blending wines the craziest lens possibly. Imagine becoming so, inventive and California, is the epicenter for unique and crazy blending you're, so correct, and. The funny part about it is blending began because we were trying to take the imperfections out of a. Wine that we'd fix it, with something else absolutely added sugar your. Coffee. Right that is correct? And, even to this day some of, the really good blends started that way under the most expensive wines exactly craziness you're you're. So correct Chris Longo what a. Pleasure to have you on a severe Pleasure as have you. Hear a severe pleasure I'm gonna come back and do some things later on we're gonna we're not gonna let five. Years go by. Excellent that sounds great anyway if you if you get a chance and you're out in Palm Springs is people come from all over the country in the. World. To visit, be sure, to? Stop by Johnson's. Maybe the Palm Springs one, is where you're at mostly right yes okay asked for Chris and he will. Probably we. Pour them a glass? Of, wine. If they ask for absolutely all right very good Back with more grape encounters I wish I could just hang with you but there are. Other. People waiting, in line So we will talk to you. Very soon thank you Dave we'll be back, with more Griffin counters right up to this People sometimes say it's the wine talking everyone knows. That wine can't talk that's why a bunch. Of grave, got. Together and higher David Wilson to do the talking for them I. Want to take this opportunity to tell you about the winds of peak ranch I recently discovered these truly amazing wines that are, raking in top honors from the wine press what I didn't initially realize is that..
