"For the second for his goal, right? The bounce pass that he gets, and he's on it, and I'm like, he's crushing the box. It's class, like he does two of the most classic piece of center forward play in one of the highest pressure games like it was nothing. Yeah. He's been so efficient. It's almost like, you know, is somebody he's learned how to be the perfect substitute. Yes. So it's like he's watching from his watching from the bench and seeing that like the movements you're talking about moose, staying in the box because one of the things we've Liverpool as much as Jota, mane or Salah. No one actually patrols in his in and around that. That's 6 yard box and in that middle of that gold even Firmino to a certain extent we see him in there sometimes Tapping it. And then Tapping the ball in. But no one really patrols it in a way where you say, if I was on the Liverpool bench, I'll be watching us saying, as soon as I get on, I'm working in there. Yes, yes. Because all of a sudden, ever and defenders have got to say, there's somebody moving in an area that there wasn't no one there before. Yes, they're not for someone. Who's taking it? Is he come to music and then bam? You know what I mean? It's chaos. It's chaotic. They're already thinking, oh my God, what were you doing now? What do you do now? But with him, knowing that you could sit on the bench, knowing that, yeah, man. Relax. 60 minutes, 70 minutes, but because you're going onto a team, it's almost the same as if you are sitting there getting ready to go on when you know that you've got Kevin De Bruyne behind you. Yes. If you go on the opportunity and the chances that you are going to get and the challenge, as a strike he said, I only need to work ten, 15 minutes this weekend. And he's done it like he scored out about four or 5 times against them. It's 9 goals and 6 9 games in 6 goals against ever 6 goals. That is which I think is amazing because obviously we talk about modern football how you strike and easy to do so much more than just putting the ball in the net. But Ricci's got such a precise role in this Liverpool team. So it's very much Saudi amani is about link up play. He plays in this ten roll, he does this and he goes, dude. For me knows all about pressing and needing to press. Jota now is the person that does headers. Salah's got his job. And DS is coming with his job. And David has now got his job for ten and 15 minutes. I want you to cause as much chaos in and around the 6 yard box as possible. And it's also strangely egoless, right? You have to be a special player, Carl. If I can't remember too many players who have played that role for so long and is we don't know deep down if he's happy doing it, but he doesn't seem like he's unhappy doing it. And like I said, why would you want to leave Liverpool? But I don't, I don't see too many people who would be so accepting of that role because of what it entails. You might get on. But what Devo kirigi does is that in very, very important and clutch games, they do call for him and he does answer the call all the time all the time. Every time, every time, every time I'm not even sure, I mean, I was going to draw in that, I'm not as sure I've got a friend like that. Who has a friend who is basically a rescuer. It's a quick one for you. Maybe once a year. Once every three years. I'm trying to think I've don't know any player. That is happier doing it. And you know, I'm not even sure the divac was in the country prior to coming on. I think the helicopter team in. Oh God. You do wonder. Because the premise is going to 5 substitutes next season. Might that up might that open up a role for Liverpool to stay at Liverpool? Because clock, I mean, we know Klopp and I saw the hug at the end of the game. Klopp said, he's the most amazing player and he needs to play more for and I think that's going to be a fun one of those play more football somewhere else. Getting more minutes, perhaps being a starter or is he going to go, wait, that's not something. It's more of a chance. But the thing with that is Carl is if he goes, Liverpool lose, as people think, yeah, because he's a substitute in this Internet. But Liverpool fans clock knows in the players not even the players at certain time when you're on there and you think. I wish he would come up. We got to bring him on at some stage. There's a certain I think that if Liverpool got rid of D Rock aurei now, they get rid of, I think, a very vital component in when it's not quite working for Firmino. It's not quite working for mane. It's not quite working for Salah. It's not happening for Jota, especially like that first star. If they get, if they get second half like that first half, you need D Rock origi. Like whatever you say about him, he could go elsewhere in play. Liverpool and the way Liverpool functioning right now is vital to what they're doing. And I think that he almost like he can feel his sense in it. He's coming into divorce, territory. They say just. Do you know how she works? It's DevOp time. Do you want to say this? I know we have to bounce and get onto the arsenal united. But I want to get on this very quickly on a rekey. Imagine how could he must be in training to trust at this stage of a game? Clock doesn't do passengers. We know this about him. We know he rotates well. So the fact that ariki is maintaining a level and it's sad because you see something like dele Alli, for example, who is a by contrast dele Alli who is the kind of player, he should be deciding games of this nature. He has the technique he has the quality but I think with him unfortunate it's like there's such a long way.

"Because we deserve that. And it's almost like if there's a goal scored right dramatically at the end to win the game, that's not enough because you've invested 90 minutes in this game. So you better give me the drama and the detention of penalties now that I've endured this 90 minutes. And then another person had a great idea. They said, we need to figure out an app that alerts you whenever a game, anywhere in the world is going to penalties. So you can tune in and watch it. And I really do like that idea. Really? That's interesting. Yeah, because let's be honest, finals can be just particularly in soccer can be drab. Don't care what anyone says because I can guarantee you people are typing right now out there femme, their favorite final, you know, the 2006 Jared FA Cup Final and guys, you have seen bad finals way more than you've seen good ones. Yeah, I would agree with that. I wonder if this was a game casadio mane missed the penalty early. Yeah. I wonder if this was a game that really could have used a goal there. If maybe that would have just completely changed the complexion of what Egypt had to do for the next 80 minutes or so, a goal, you know, it just kind of removes the paranoia in the team. And it means all right, okay, we're trailing now. We have to come out and play and it just opens things up so much. But I don't want to let go in this circumstance. No, no, no. All the way to penalties now. Well, that is what happened. And in looking at that, I wanted to talk about Saudi amani for a sec. Because I talk about the me feeling happy for the people of Senegal that are celebrating in this way. And Monet in particular somebody that I found myself feeling happy for for a couple of reasons. One, to have missed the penalty early in the final. And then have in the penalty shootout, the winning penalty fall to you. I just wonder how there's always going to be a ton of pressure when you're taking any penalty in a Cup final in a penalty shootout. But you're now stepping up to take what would be the winning penalty after you've already missed one earlier in the game that conceivably could have been enough to win it for you. How much more pressure does that even add that he missed one earlier in the match? That was a lot bearing down on him. And he took it well. He took both of them well, just the first one was right at the keeper. But he hit the hell out of it. Just poorly. Absolutely smashed it, and Salah had intervened to give instructions to the Egyptian goalkeeper. Yeah. But like Monet in particular, I was reading this, I think it was the BBC where Monet had a penalty saved in the quarterfinal shoot out defeat to Cameroon in 2017. Two years later, he failed to convert in the group game against Kenya. And in the last 16 tie against Uganda, so there's a history in this tournament of this great player missing key penalties. And then he missed one in the final. So, man, for him to get for him to get the winning one after having a shoulder, the load of all of those previous misses. And you know, the other thing with him is all of this Liverpool success, like he's obviously been a massive part of it. He's a great player. One of the great players in Europe. But he's always been a little bit under the radar. I wonder if you feel that way too between Salah, certainly. But even Virgil Van Dyke, like it felt like Van Dyck came aboard and that was the missing piece. For Monet to then get this trophy playing against Saleh's Egypt. It felt almost poetic in a way. I'm not saying that there's this rivalry between them. I don't get that sense. But for Monet to have this moment after kind of being sitting in the back seat for these years with Liverpool, I again felt good for him. I don't know, sometimes you see a player go and perform for his national team. And he's away from that usual environment in which you see him, the red Jersey, adan field, and I don't know. It freshens things up. And his face holding the trophy, you know, those were great pictures and great moments. Did it bother you what he said afterwards? What did he say? He said, it's the best day of my life and the best trophy of my life. I won the Champions League and some other trophies, but this is a special one for me. This is more important for me. I'm happy for myself, my people and all of my family. Well, considering how he views his country playing for his country and also just has a sense of his role as a very monied celebrity athlete, considering all the things we know about him. It doesn't shock me that he would say that. I mean, winning anything for you. Ask Paul Pogba. I guarantee you've papa we won a Champions League for Manchester United. It wouldn't mean anything close to what his successes would France have meant to him. I agree with that. I don't know what it means for him to be playing for Manchester United sometimes. If you were watching on Friday night, I'm gonna get to it. Not a lot. A couple other things on this final in this tournament. Any thoughts JJ for Egypt in the penalty shootout? The elect to have soligo 5th never gets to take his shot, presumably their best penalty taker. Is that when you do over if you could? Yeah, you absolutely do it over. Do you have to get him in the penalty kick area sooner? You have to get him in that rotation. Way, way sooner. Yeah. Where would you put your best penalty taker usually? First, what? Okay. Yeah. Get things started on the right foot. Get things started on the right foot. There was all sorts of debates raging about penalties. And Jamie Carragher had one, which is even more prescient than who's taking the first penalty. But he said he'd heard of teens. That have won the task to take the first cake and have deferred. Which we know there's statistically we know the first cake is vital, and you convert it, you are well on your way. So that's things like that..

"Awoke. No, no, certainly not. Red carrot and the 66th minute. Yeah. A Nigeria only managed one shot on target, which again, I mean, if you look at the lineup collection at your that's a pretty good site and the fact that they only manage one shot on target that will be, that won't be that won't go down well. No, certainly not. Saudi amani in action actually in about 45 minutes from now, Senegal against Cape Verde islands. Tomorrow, JJ mosala in action and probably maybe the most interesting game of the round of 16 Egypt and Ivory Coast. And we all know JJ will be rooting against both mane and Salah to get them back with Liverpool as quickly as possible because he has no soul and doesn't care for these people. That's not true, but that's the narrative you like to push and I'm not going to stop you. Oh, well, thank you. So let it be said. It is now the truth. Let's move on JJ some of what's been going on in the Premier League lately, Claudio Ranieri out at Watford. That was even by their standards. That was pretty quick. Yeah, that was kind of the way they operate. I thought they their statement was interesting because it didn't have the usual three strikes. It was they confirmed the departure of headquarters Claudio Ranieri. The hornets board recognizes Claudio as a man of great integrity and honor who will always be respected here at vicarage roads for his efforts and leading the team with dignity. So it wasn't thanks for your efforts. It was respect you for your efforts. However, the board feels that what nearly half of the primarily campaign remaining, a change in the head coach position will now give a new appointment sufficient time to work with a talented squad to achieve the immediate goal of retaining primarily status. So yeah, it's the merry go round. When they go back to a manager, they've already had. They've done that before. Who knows what goes on? Well, they've appointed Roy Hodgson. They have? Yeah, to finish out the remainder of the season. I did not see that. Oh, yeah. He's in. Roy Hodgson. Does this surprise you? I mean, this feels, who'd you think they were going to bring in? They are in survival mode now. So it's either going to be him or big Sam. And big Sam's reputation is still maybe not in a great place. So it's Roy time. I know, but I thought Roy after doing so well with Crystal Palace, being the AG is, after being in football, nonstop for nearly 45, 50 years, maybe he'd take a little bit longer off. But these guys, they're adrenaline junkies. He's 74 years old. He's due to sign a 6 month contract with the club. Okay. All right, this is survival mode, JJ. That's what's going on here. And by the way, survival is possible now. If you look at Norwich there in 16 points and 17th place, below the Newcastle got their win at the weekend over leads, again, they shouldn't have won, but they did. They're on 15 points now. So one from safety, Watford on 14 points, two points behind our stadium Burnley are the ones that Bernie if there's anyone adrift in this relegation race, it's Burnley. Well, yes and no. See, this is the problem. And that's because the games. That's the thing. Apparently, have only played 18 matches. Yeah. Like, no one is even no one else anywhere in the league is even close to that. Everyone else has played at least 20. So Chelsea have played 24. They've played 6 more games than Burnley. I'm not saying that earlier looking to catch Chelsea in any way. I'm just comparing how skewed the figures are and the point totals are because of the way in which COVID have wreaked havoc on the fixture list. So like right now, yeah, they're a disaster. They've only won one game this season. They're terrible. But this can change quickly. In fact, Burnley are playing Watford this weekend, which maybe it was part of the reason they wanted to make this switch now because that game is. I mean, that's almost like Cup final type stuff for two teams that are going to be battling in relegation. So yeah, Roy enter Roy. JJ, I believe he now becomes, is it the 15th manager? He's a 15th manager since this ownership group took over at Watford in 2012. Not the model of stability. No, and I think it was Duncan Alexander had the tweet. And I'm just going to remember it. So I probably have the figures a little bit off, but it'll give you a flavor. He becomes their 15th manager since I think 2012, 2013. Which is just three less than West Ham have had in their entire history. Oh my God. Yeah. That is yeah. That's not, that's not a way to run a football club. I have the tweet here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Watford looking for the 15 permanent manager since 1213, I got it right. Three fewer than West Ham have had. Like that's wild. That's just absolutely wild. And I don't care if it's being successful. Once or twice keeping them up, it's madness, madness. In those four months that Ronnie was in charge, just 7 points out of a possible 39. Obviously, we talked about the danger that they're in terms of going down. Four months, it's obviously it's not a fair amount of time to give anybody, especially because he was coming into replace another manager, so like you're asking him to switch the existing system. It's not like he had a preseason to work with this group. So it was always going to be a difficult task for him. Having said that, I'm not shocked that Watford made this move. A because it's them, like we said. But B, when you're fighting for your lives, you've been that bad over that amount of time. It's not a small sample size anymore. I get it. I get it. So we'll see if this helps them in any way. Trying to hold players out of aft con certainly hasn't, although as Melissa did wind up going off to the African Cup of Nations, but they kept Emmanuel Dennis. It has not been helping. Who promptly got sent off at the weekend, I think. JJ, the game I mentioned before, Chelsea continue their dominance over spurs. That's three wins in a month. Over their city rivals. I'm going to leave this all to you. Say what you got to say because I passively watched this one. I did not engage fully..

"You know what that's a perfect segue for? A lot of the action that I've done so far. I have had so much fun. So, so, so much fun. If the first 40 seconds of Afghan were anything to go by, it's going to be a really fun tournament. There's no 50 50s. It's like, you know what? You are representing your country. You're going to put everything for your country, and you're going to win the ball. You're trying to fight for your country's rights. And I love it. You know, you love it. You know, I loved, you know? I've watched and what I've noticed is, obviously, there's not many competitions where the teams have to get there and play so quickly. Yeah. For them not to have Walmart games. I think we're seen a little bit of that. They're not. They're nowhere near up to speed, but obviously we're still seeing some cool stuff. But like the fact is, is that I'm just can't wait to see when they're up to speed. I just can't wait to actually, I know that sounds weird, but in some cases, you can see who's come from a midseason. Yeah, because they're in the flow. The way that Senegal, the way that Saudi amani was on smoke against floating Zimbabwe. Shout out as well. I mentioned this in the chat before. Cape Verde against Ethiopia. Those midfielders I think was Santos in particular, like the way they moved the ball through the middle of the field, Cape Verde, so so good. It was almost like, you know, it was. It was almost like, because if you look at the margins in these games, I think it's like not has not been more than like a one go margin in any of these games. Games existed at all one note. People playing yeah, people are playing not within themselves, but it's like, one thing that's slightly and you start with the gap on goals so credit to them, but counter attacking goals are a little bit rare because people are quite tentative because they don't want to overcommit. So what you're seeing is, it's ironic because you hear these chapters tournament are like, you know, African teams like that and it's like, hang on a minute. We're not going to hear in the same week that like Syria, there's goals all over the place. No one I guarantee you're not a single person will say are the Italians and defensively naive. Even though Syria has the highest scoring weekend. In ages, right? Well, 5 one saso four three eventus. No one is going to say defensively naive. Yeah. But here's the thing Zimbabwe's defensive performance against Seneca was outstanding. How many people get soap and play against them? And they're very unlucky with the handle like how many people are going to come out and say, oh my goodness. Astonishing African defending. Because actually a lot of the defense in this tournament so far has been of a very continuous standard. Can I say that the first I'm just trying to think can people understand the pressure that someone like sadio Mani would have been under with that penalty? I remember like I remember like most salads apparently to get Egypt to the World Cup. Oh my goodness. The enormity of the situation for him. You know, but even.

"Going to be. He's going to be amazing. That's the final piece of the jigsaw. He's going to be incredible because technically is amazing. But we all know when Liverpool air strength, especially in midfield because they don't score any midfield players live for Liverpool, just do not score but the work rate that they put in in the hunger and their tenacity they feed marnay, they feed for me, no. He was missing today. They feed sadio marne. When Thiago come off the bench today, when Liverpool were in a hurry, you sort of slowed it down a little bit too much. News planes no look passes, which you can do when you're cruising in a game and you're winning one or two and ill, but I don't know he needs to get going for me. But that was a performance that you've got to give west arm credit. They would have been distraught at the end of the game of Saudi amani had brought that back to three three because Liverpool, they deserve nothing out of that game. Allison, a football three, just on that point. I don't think I don't put the blame at him for the second. And listen, I understand why people feel that way, but I also see it from a goalkeepers perspective where you make a good effort at the ball. You get just enough that you take some piece off of it so it looks worse than it is. You actually will get less blame if you don't get as much on the ball. And so it's a street situation for you to find yourself in. But to the point about Liverpool, Liverpool considered two goals from set pieces here. And if I'm going to put on going to them or if I'm using club one and where do I go wrong? That clearly is a weakness of this because you either Van Dyke or bean you are the only players with any kind of height and far too far too many and on this occasion should Alexander Arnold, even then don't want to don't want to get into that nitty Gritty that battle inside that box from a set piece. So that's where that's where you can get your joy. And then if you manage it to launch a counter attack as it did, nobody picks up for now as it did. You get even more. But the initial question on double donut franc said with Van Dyck, there were times where Van Dyck and Michael Antonio were one and one. Up against each other. I have never seen anyone look as comfortable playing against Michael Antonio as Virgil Van Dyke. It is scary, how good a player he is. And for me, despite Liverpool's defensive walls, certainly on today's show and he's responsible for none of it. West Ham, of course, exceeding all expectations. And it incredible season off the back of their success last year. And we were scratching it. What is it? What have they done really that's really pushed them forward. Obviously, they've brought in a lot of fresh players, but maybe it isn't the players that they've brought in. Maybe it was the players that they let go, or maybe the players that retired that have reading the catalyst for their surge in success of West Ham over the last couple of seasons. And you kind of think, well, who is it? Who that has left? And what was that record like before and after? Maybe if.
