'SNL's' Michael Che, NBC accused of 'antisemitic trope' in 'Weekend Update' segment: 'Retract and apologize'
"American jewish committee began circulating a petition demanding that saturday night live apologize and they won't and what it read. I think is very interesting. The petition read saturday night. Lives joke isn't just untrue. It's dangerous a modern twist on a classic anti semitic trope that has inspired the mass murder of countless jews throughout the centuries and that's true the documents going to be delivered to nbc. Which of course broadcasts. Saturday night live. It's just disgusting. I it seems to be okay. Well i don't think it is okay. Make antisemitic combat. I think we're we're. We're starting to see more realization of how that is not okay. But i understand what you're saying it is like is i've always said it's you know we've gotten to the point where we are so hyper sensitive in this country about offending anybody except fat people all people and yes. To a large extent jewish people l. e. coho cohenim who served the us deputy special envoy to combat anti-semitism at the trump administration tweeted this under the oslo accords. The palestinian authority is responsible for all health and social welfare needs contact snl and nbc and demand. They apologized for their modern day. Blood libel against jews and you know the the explanation and it was just a joke final. I don't know why that's why. I haven't watched saturday night. Live eight is yeah. i can't. I just can't stomach it anymore. I guess that's the difference. You get older. You get your your views on things change and i just. I don't find a lot of that stuff funny anymore. But then you know. What can i

"But the difference is if people just listen and all sorts of different ways, and it makes you wonder what the value is of listening to a show like this. Why which? Obviously, most people still listen live. Into Paris into Other ways. There's something Hard to put a finger on it. When you're hearing or watching something that's live it creates. We'll take Saturday night Live is an example. They don't have to do that Show live. You know, And obviously they re runs all the time where it said earlier broadcast and I think of the West Coast. They don't do a second taping. I think they just take do a tape of the show that showed lives in the Eastern and the Central parts of the country. But When they started that show way back in the seventies. They had this notion that somehow it would be more Exciting. If you knew that this was live that they were literally out there that there was no escape hatch, you know, and famously over the years there are mistakes that happened on the show would We got their ear sliced off. John Belushi, I think sliced a chunk of Buck Henry's here therapy. I was in the sand right thing. I think it was Buck Henry's ear. John Belushi slice well, obvious who knows if they would have if the show was on tape, But Saturday that live was taped. You know, at one o'clock in the afternoon of Saturday and showed later on tonight, whatever wouldn't have ever had any different kind of response. I don't know it. Terms of my show. Obviously. If something happens in three minutes, That's a major story. I'll be talking about it in three minutes and you could hear That part of it live, but I There's something that I think makes something. You know, if all I ever did with the podcast, there'd be no mistakes. If something broke or if I lost my place where I misstated a piece of information, we could just go back and redo it. Maybe some would think that that makes it a more perfect product. As opposed to One that you're getting warts and all that go out over the year. Don't know I want to share with the audience it interesting quote, because, as you may know, the latest thing now the Congress, the Democrats said that they control things are doing everything in their power to shut down whatever is left of the right. They have a very hard time figuring out how to stop cable television, though. Cable television is not directly regulated by the FCC. The Federal Communications Commission. Regulates broadcasting. They regulate those of us that are using the public airwaves. When you're listening to me online, we're not on the public airwaves. When you're listening to me through the radio, we're broadcasting on a frequency that's literally moving through the air, and it's all over the place. And the little antenna that you have whatever radio have picks up the signal. And you know, in the early days, that's all there Woz the public airwaves. There was no other way really way of transmitting anything, and the FCC regulates that, but by a large the FCC doesn't regulate cable TV, for example. HBO or Netflix are not within the realm. Of the FCC, but we are So you've got these cable systems that are running, fax those and many of the others and the lefties. They're not talking about cracking down on them, claiming They essentially want to get the cable providers dish. Direct TV, a TNT and so on to either throw off Fox News and other conservative outlets or tell them that they have to stop broadcasting all this right wing stuff. And the grounds they're making is these outlets are spreading miss information. That's the whole thing now, from the left in terms of how they take you off of social media. Well, that's not that's misinformation. That's not true. It's not factual. Why you said that you if you raise the question.
'Saturday Night Live' targets Cruz, Cuomo
"Night it was called Hoops. You did it again venue to apologize for things you did wrong among those front and center. Governor Cuomo really Pete Davidson. Some of the people who died in the nursing homes were not counted as nursing home deaths. They were counted as hospital deaths. Well, which is basically what happens at Disneyworld. OK, the people die and they moved the bodies. They say. Oh, I guess Brenda died in the parking lot. Not on the teacups. So you know, we just did the Disney thing. And then there was 80 Bryant as Senator Ted Cruz back to frigid, devastated Texas from his tropical vacation in Cancun. Coward is actually the nicest word I heard. Let me ask you this. What a coward have the Kony's to blame his actions on his young daughters. Another SNL know. During weekend update Pete Davidson first played a relationship expert talking about Valentine's Day. Saturday Night Live parodies Gorilla Glue hair saga
"If you didn't hear, and it all started with a crazy viral video and tic tac Early last week. This woman who by the way is a teacher put gorilla glue in her hair to tone it down. Look, I have wild crazy here, too. But Gorilla glue is like the last thing I would think of putting them by air, So she puts it in her hair, sadly, couldn't get it out. So the TIC tac video went viral. And then there came a point where no one could figure out how to help her. And then she's like, Well, I'm gonna sue Gorilla glue for this Her mistake, by the way, but she's gonna sue Gorilla glue. Like back in the day, the McDonald's the hot coffee person sues and then you know they have to have all the disclaimers now. So at the end of the week last week, we got word that a very generous plastic surgeon from a vault places Beverly Hills. Took care of her. Find out. Find out the right recipe. Tol you get this stuff out of her hair. And it was successful. It was like a $12,000 surgery. He did it for free, took good care of her. And now she's complaining. That they had to cut her hair short. I mean, yeah. You got all this exposure you had a world famous plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills 12 grand on his dive. And then you complain afterwards of well there was my hair. They had to cut a real short. Meanwhile, this has been so popular that even as said now had to jump on the bandwagon over the weekend. It happened to you your worst nightmare. We've all been there. You ran out of hair product and you use gorilla glue instead. And in turn your beautiful, luscious main into a hard candy. Shit. Ha! I'm then they'll come move and I'm the truth. Come over. And if this has happened to you, you are not alone. And this is not go fuck, and you are not done every day as many as one people fall victim in place of a beauty project. They deserve compensation. We all do. You should not have to go through life with hair like a Lego man. Because one time you used gorilla glue instead of that's way of Greece, way will get you money for Gorilla glue or the next best thing. Lifetime supply. Somebody tried to eliminate The Jews. And Had a good Catholic upbringing, and I will say one thing I a student at ST John's. We were taught about all other religions. And we learned about Judaism, especially Judaism, because Without Judaism. How can you be a Christian You know, I mean, it's Based in Judaism. Um When we talk about the founding of this nation. The founding of this nation was on Judeo Christian principles. People who want to argue that But it's it's kind of why would the 10 Commandments be on the wall in the Supreme Court? I mean, it's Judeo Christian tradition. It doesn't mean that you can't Come to this country and be here and be part of it And not not, you know, subscribed to Judeo Christian tradition. It doesn't It just means that it was founded on that. So let's just hold on a second. It is a very happy holiday, A a Persian leader. Was going to eliminate all the Jews in Persia. Until he found out that his wife was two ish. And the Jews were saved was spared. And so Oh, yeah, We go through history and we look at you know the Egyptians everything else and look at what's going on over the Middle East right now. The only democracy in the Middle East. Israel and, you know Well, we were making progress there. Until Joe Biden came back. Um But I don't want I don't want to get into that I want to get into and I really want to discuss anti Semitism on this holiday and see So over the weekend, NBC On Saturday night Live. What's his name guys? Because I don't watch it anymore. Michael Che to see the guy who does weekend update correct. Yeah. Okay. Now he's African American. He's a black guy. It started. He did a new store, you know? And for those of you don't know. Weekend update is like a, you know, Fake news. Chevy Chase started the whole thing back in the first year of Saturday Night Live. Um And he did a news story about the vaccination rate in Israel. Right? He He did the joke, he said, how you know Israel reporting today half Their citizens have been vaccinated. And you know, Of course, it's the Jewish half. We know which happiness is making, making a joke. That? Oh, yeah, the Jews. There are a lot of Arabs living in Israel. And that only the only Jews were getting the vaccination in Israel. Arabs who were citizens were not Now. That is that is anti Semitic. I know people argue and say, Wait a minute. Can I can Not support the existence of Israel. And not be anti Semetic know that you can't I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but you can't and that's a discussion for another day. But I want to talk about NBC. How NBC felt so comfortable. That they could make that joke. By the way, let me just remind Saturday Night Live That you can be in Arab And live in Israel. Try being a Jew. And living in a Muslim majority nation. Good luck. Right? But no, don't don't side with Israel Don't side with this real And and that's basically what the Biden administration is doing. Now they're doing the Obama administration two point oh, toward Israel, all right, But let's go a step further. That's not that's actually not the worst thing. That NBC has done recently owned by the way, MSNBC always has. Individuals on Who are anti Israel and and say things that are anti Semitic. That's MSNBC. But NBC itself So there's a show on NBC. I've never heard of. I guess it came from Canada called nurses a medical show. By the way, I hate Watching medical shows. I hate them. Because I don't want to be sick. And why do I want to sit down and relax and watch other people who are sick? Okay? So in this show nurses there's a scene. Where a Hasidic Jew He's in a hospital bed. I probably a guy in his early twenties and then his father is next to him. And the doctor comes in. The doctor says. You know you're going to need a bone graft. He's got a really bad breaking his leg and he's going to need a bone graft. And he's like, what is that? And he said, Well, we get bone from a cadaver. We put it into your leg and the father starts shaking his head. Uh huh. Leg. From an Arab or a woman. From glory, Um, going means up, Gentile, non Jew. The father keeps it. No, you can't do that. You can't do that. Now, first of all, There is nothing even even as Orthodox. And as strict and as devout, as as Hasidic Jews are There's nothing In any of their teachings that says you can't get you know, in organ transplant or something else from somebody. Who is not a Jew. Because I know the average viewers watching that and saying Hey, Um Wow. I didn't know that. You know, It must be like the whole kosher thing. You know, Like they can't eat bacon must be like that. You can't have you know Partner you from somebody who's not kosher. Absolutely not true. Not true at all..

Warriors' plan aims to allow 50% fan capacity
"Ramona. How are you? God are you guys doing and we're hanging in there. So tell us about this. This operation Dub nation that the Joe Lake up is trying to pull off here so funny that it's called that right like it's like the Manhattan Project, right? Uh, you know, it's literally is every morning every Monday morning at 9 A.m.. They have this passport. That operation Dub Nation and been doing this for eight months on guy. Think what I think What is so interesting about this one is First of all, you know, we should We should We're you know, we should point out to everyone that The state of health. Weight is not allow anything like this right now. So this is a plan that has been submitted to the city and the county in California. I think the Warriors have already done a lot of work in terms of Explaining the science and proving the science to the public health officials and to the politicians were going to make the final call on this. It's not great timing. If you think about it right now we just have a press conference from the mayor's office where they were like Yeah, we're gonna have to start rolling things that we've seen the incidence of coronavirus spike this week. I think next week we're going to see even more roll back. This is what's happening across the country that is somewhat inevitable. We talking about the colder weather people being indoors more. Um, but, you know, I think you just kind of have to understand the math here right? And what the actual game changing part of this planet, which is We're talking about this is this is the part that I actually think is the most important when we're talking about, Okay, we have to close indoor guiding, or we have to close occupancy in a gym. Or we have to limit activity and indoor spaces like the movies here for. I don't know who's going to movie theaters right now, But okay. Not me. Sorry. Those types of rollbacks for seeing that is based off of The what's called the incidents of like a new cases per 100,000. Okay, right now in the bay Area that 9.9 per day. Okay, um, that that's 9.9 cases. Per 100,000. It's growing. But that's also based on this idea that you don't know amongst the people who are coming into your indoor restaurants or indoor gym or indoor space. How many of them are positive because you're not doing any testing. But if you're doing testing You have a different you have a different knowledge about who's actually in your space, right? If you test everyone who walks through that door, you're only vulnerability is the accuracy and sensitivity of the test. Correct. You understand everybody. Obviously we're well aware of that. Yes. Okay. Now the accuracy and sensitivity is a really big deal because most of the rapid tests that you see them like the infamous White House Rose Garden Super spreader event, which we have You know what you have. People continue to test positive for and then again on election night. They're using a rapid test that is in an urgent that based test Now people lies start to glaze over when you start to explain the difference here, But I'll just Do it in terms of the antigens that based test It couldn't have between 30 and 50% of infected people. It's not that accurate, okay, it'll generally effective, you know, but it's not. It's like it's better than nothing. And it definitely has some uses if you're using it. Let's say at school or or in a college where you're testing the same people every single day. So every single time you test somebody that gives a better chance. You're gonna catch it right, especially Because people generally don't become infectious with Cove it and tell day three or day four of infection. So let's say you were you caught it. It didn't catch you on day one. It didn't catch one day to It didn't catch you on day three because the energon test doesn't catch it before Day four, Okay? But my day 56 or seven it should catch you one of those days of your testing every day. The PCR based test which the Warriors are talking about, that's a rapid test. It's 15 minutes. Shallow nasal swab. I think that's important for people to understand Shallow like booger level, Okay, Like, like, you know. Yeah, I think about touching very descriptive brain booger level. Okay, levels go down. Bacon burger level, Okay, And this test is 99% accurate. There's only three companies who have earned emergency FDA authorization to make these tests. Okay, One of them's in the Bay Area of Bisbee. Started by a Stanford grad. Let's claim that some Stan forgot myself, then the other tours to the palace for yet they're the one called Q Health and Mesa by a text. They just started making these things this summer and this fall, so that's how like when you see Saturday Night live, that's what senator lives is using. They're using that kind of testing. Plus, they're wearing masks. Those tests generally caused 152 $100 a test. Okay like that very expensive to do on a large scale. You could do it at small venues and like I was reading it three. You're really interesting. New York Times story about this. And, uh, it was August when the first started to get get approved. They were calling that this is this is the new velvet ropes. Rapid PCR test of the new velvet rope like if you wanna have a gathering, If you want to have an event, you've seen this like in small parties. Small gathering. And even when you do those rapid PCR test, you should still wear a mask. Some people some places hasn't like they had a doctor featured in that New York Times story. I saw Charging $500 a test for partygoers at the hands of in the Hamptons. Okay, This is what the Warriors are talking about doing on a scale where 50% capacity at Chase Center.
Socialization by Robots?
"Today. You're complaining about a very disturbing robot for children so this actually is i. I saw this On a commercial that came up on our streaming service. And i actually said to. My husband is an snl skip. Are we watching a saturday night. Live is this for real bad for a horror movie up like legitimately it was. It was so out there that i thought it was a skit because it started off with this young boy in a room. And he's sitting by himself at one of those little play tables first of all wire young boy who's like six or seven at a little tiny toddlers. Play table is beyond me but anyway So he's sitting there and he's doing something on his own. Obviously right those. I'm elise no other children around. Because he's in his bedroom or wherever he is and then both as parents come in and they walk over and hi how are you and what you're doing and the child is looking very to look very kind of lonely. You know anton and socially isolated and then they delicately delicately introduce this This table top robot that they they call moxie and it's like it's not like it doesn't look like a person it kind of looks like maybe like Yoda like it's kind of like this little creature without the ears but it's got like a body and then head and then like two cars that move and then it's got this the faces digital so the faces the screen and they start introducing this robot this child and the child in the robot. Start this interaction. This social interaction and the robot is asking the child these questions and there you know shaking hands and they're talking and so just to sum up this whole commercial this is being. This robot is kind of being touted as a revolution in child development. Because this robot is going to interact with your child is going to socialize with your child and is going to be. You know the thing that is going to help your child. socially and emotionally grow as a human being so to me that is disturbing on so many stories. So that's my my summary address the situation. And what are your thoughts after. You whitney oregon. Oh my gosh this is. This is what has come to this. What we're doing. Because i watch the video but i went to the website and looked at that thing and could they have made it any crappier. Honestly it's not even pleasing to look at it. Did you see the child. Did you scroll down and see the child. These children do not look happy. Children look like we will take your programming. Tell our parents thank you. There's something deeply not right here. Oh and it helps. Apparently the robot helps the children's self-regulate so if they're if they're like you know if there is stressed or their emotional than the robot will do Breathing exercises with them year. That's joe they're becoming emotionless. Autumn's do the will of the robot so circulation. Didn't this is so bizarre. It really is. This i mean is a solution to our social distancing of neal's a sweat people are are looking for because their kids aren't being socialize. I saw this on a commercial on tv. And then i was reading an article yesterday about. How moms are starting to worry about their young babies and toddlers who are not getting the socialization that We they would typically have because of our social distancing policies and procedures and in the article. It name this moxie as a solution to the socialization issues that we have right now. I'm thinking only this really like this is what it is now that were trying to find other ways to to get our kids to socialize.

Michael Strahan interviewed him recently. And he was already getting up on his roof and like snow, blowing the leaves off and stuff. I mean, he was still very active. He hosted his last jeopardy game just less than two weeks ago. Oh, my goodness. Yes, it is working, but I didn't realize this about him. And maybe this was common knowledge. Just how charitable he waas how much he gave back and how he decided to write a book because he wanted that advance money to give to the charity Is he already supported and new Cherries? That kind of came into his consciousness and he was just A very generous man and to hear the stories about that was pretty cool. All right. Here's a little bit of that interview Lex from last night's 2020. Alex talking about charity and laughter. What do you want? Your legacy to be? A nice man helped people through hiss charity work. I mean, your other than maybe prices right and well, I think there's a trifecta there. When you look at game shows You in jeopardy is is just classic American culture and and the success of that show, I think can be summed up by the format. And host. I think jeopardy is Alex Trebek and Alex Trebek is jeopardy and it's going to be very interesting to see what the next chapter of that show was like. Um Because you know the old saying and and Shobha everybody's replaceable but showing the line but my goodness that's going to be those are big shoes to fill. I would not write down. Ah Ah, This is interesting. What brought Alex Trebek to America that phone call? Alex got a call from Alan Thicke, another Canadian from Northern Ontario, well known from growing pains. Of course, he was developing a game show for NBC called Wizard of Odds. Wizard of Odds. And when it came time for him to think of a host, he merely thought of Alex Trebek. I had accumulated 16 weeks of leave at the CBC and I took a leave of absence. Ah, holiday with pay and went in audition for a show Alex audition for the job and got it. And in 1973, he moved to California to host Wizard of Odds Now here's Wiley. I first met Alex in 1973. You just knew right away. He was smart. This is a former executive producer of Jeopardy in control. He has an amazing capacity. Take it all in. I started with Wizard of Odds I did that three year they can't riding high replaced it on a Monday with so called high rollers with Alec. It was cancelled and replaced by a show called Battle stars. They kept lately for Layla, but they can't keep the host. That's funny. Yeah. And then eventually they decided to bring back jeopardy and, ah And and Alex got the job on DH then, like I said, became just a sliver of pop culture and you know that you've made in pop culture when you're spoofed on SNL. And you know, they reference that last night on the special mean he was everywhere. Here's a here's a little bit of Alex's influence on pop culture enjoyed stepping out from behind the podium. There were women here in Jeopardy. You're feeling very sleepy. Oh, I'm sorry, Peter. We were looking for King Louis. The 11th. This automotive tool is used to tighten bolts. And let's just go from soup to nuts. He has been in one of the greatest shows of all time. The Simpsons and he has made an appearance in one of the worst shows of all time. Baywatch. Did you see Who you just rescue Hey, Alex, Meet Alex. Alex Trebek from jeopardy! I don't believe this. "I'm Jesse thorn. It's bullseye. If you had to name one writer on Saturday Night Live. The show's MVP were. And the Wf for brighter. I guess there might be a few candidates. I mean, I like Jack handy, but it might very well. Be Paula pal in her eighteen years on the show. She wrote so many stone gold glasses like just a few. She wrote the copes Anna gas Dyer and will Ferrell's married lounge music duo act sketch. She wrote the Spartan cheerleaders. Robbie cloudy. W. Goes on and on and on omelet Ville and Tony Bennett homosexual, she's written for thirty rock the Oscars the Golden Globes she's had roles on parks and rec big mouth. And most recently, the NBC show AP bio on that show. She plays. Helen, a high school administrator who is overflowing with school spirit and also has a drawer full of hair. Her newest movie is kind of Saturday Night Live reunion. It's called wine country along with Paula it stars Amy Poehler Tina Fey. My script says Don part of that. I don't have an impression my Rudolph. Rachel dra- ch-, Anna gas dire. It tells the story of a group of friends who take a girl's trip to the Napa Valley for a weekend of wine and relaxation and celebration of one of their fiftieth birthdays, the group became lifelong friends during their stint working at a pizza. Place in Chicago. But people moved and got married and grew apart and wine country is about how we tend to those friendships even when life gets in the way in this clip Paula who plays vow is having a heart to heart with Rachel draft. His character. Rebecca, Val is worried that she just blew a chance to ask out apart tender. Here's the last thing I sent to her I have vintage JD hearings at my store would love to send them to you so dumb. She's Jade, you know, she's got like a million Jade things I made a mistake. She's too young for me. Fell. I offer you some feedback. Okay. I mean when it comes to age, the number itself, truly doesn't matter. It's I mean, I wish I wish advocate understand this because she's coming at me. Like, you're fifty fifty fifty like, what matters is how you feel inside. So with all that in mind. What would you say your souls ages? It's like twelve I mean, maybe a little older probably old enough to drink and bone maybe eighteen eighteen and a half almost out of the house. Don't have my own car yet. But I have a bike. Follow foul. Welcome to both i-it's tabby machine. You for having me this movie really feels like I mean, it's it's about girls weekend. But it feels like old home week given the deep relationship relationships in every single person in the entire production. It's you know, it's based on an actual trip. We took for Rachel drenches fiftieth birthday to wine country. We've done two of those trips. I'm I'm still owed mine because I turned fifty before we started doing the trip. So we're gonna do a a retro retroactive trip for me. But we took Rachel and so many fun insane things happen by the end of the weekend. We just kind of Amy and Emily Spivey who co wrote it with Liz cacus cash, they were just like, I think we think we need to write system movie. What was when real thing that really happened on other so many things my? I got bit. But not by a snake? She got bit by a bitten by a black widow spider. She was getting a massage. Oh, jeez. And the person was like, I think that was a black widow like they thought maybe it was a black widow, and we all came out like super relaxed from our little services, we ordered with our robes on smelling like lavender. She looked like shoe spot to die because she thought she was about tonight. The other thing that definitely happened was the night before the actual trip. I went to the hustler store in Santa Monica on Santa Monica in West Hollywood and purchased everyone a very high end dildo. They were actually vibrators, but sort of phallic vibrators..

"And it really it really blindsided me that fact and that insight into what his actual experience in that world was because I thought, you know, well, it is an idea tax weren't about the head of NBC not liking him for making fun of OJ Simpson. Yeah. You seem like a real ballsy guy. Yeah. And that oh, even he got I think it's the week is really hard on you. And when you do I had a panic attack on on on air once when I was playing Julian Assange and people watched it, and they can't tell but I knew that. I started sweating, and I started I when I my things where I couldn't project my voice, we obey quiet and people can't hear me. 'cause you know, I would just start to just crumble I remember it was a Ronald Reagan robot wants in a cold open. And I couldn't project. I just didn't project my voice. And and Seth Meyers went oh. Is there something wrong with the microphone or whatever? I go. No, no, no. I'm I I'm having a pant panic attack, but even other cast members, and I don't want to say their names. It's it's, you know, have come to me and said, oh, no I had a full on panic attack or add one cast member just like left, just flew home. Just when I can't I need. I just my brains a little broken, you know, what I mean? And and I you know for so mister show for a week. And I get it, you know, because it's a lot of accumulative stress. But you did it for eight years, and you are good at it. Yeah. I know. And it was hard the whole time. It was never do. You know, you were good at it. I I know is good at it. Yeah. I never I look at it. And I'm someone that's very much going like, geez. I again, what we're talking about in my head. I'm projecting this. And then when I see it I'm like, oh, I can hear my voice and that impression a little too, much or. Oh, gosh. It was my physicality was a little different. I thought I was doing this. But instead it looks like that, and and that can be exhausting to talk to people about where they go built. Migrate might relax. But I for me. It's it's mostly. Yeah. Going like, okay. That was good. And I I was happy on on Saturday that I kind of said, I'm just going to fun, you know, and throw that out and hang with the cast and just goof around, and and and just have a good time. I wanna play a clip of you doing Stefan on the reasons Saturday Night Live, and you hosted and stiff on is like a what is his set up like a nightlife correspondent he's supposed to tell people tourists in New York where to go. And, you know, this is this was maybe your best known recurring character. I mean, there's a lot of Vincent Price fans out there. Yeah now. But this was the thing that when people come up to me, this is usually the thing they talk about. And I, you know, I think I said this the last time you on the show, but I sincerely I think it's the funniest recurring character I on Saturday. That's nice effort things. It's just usually is just this list of weird specifics that John Lanier you and John Mullany or yet John Mullany. And and I and I remember once I got Joe Mandy at thrown in a couple that they used, but but mostly as Mullany and and then between dressing area, he would you would change things around or he would show them to me as I was walking out sometimes reading them for the first time. But a lot of times it's it's a lot of time. It's it's him kinda as I'm walking out. Like, oh, this got changed to this. And I go, okay. You know, this character is now call Galyadh, and I go, okay. And and then I'm saying for the first time on air, but he's told me start laughing. But what else is happening is that the q-car guys are laughing. Seth would be laughing. Chris Kelly are stage managers right off screen, and he he's laughing really hard. And I'm a soft touch, man. I laugh really easy. I just laugh. It's funny. Let's listen. If you're drunk in mid town, cheap.

"Wow. Also, and then and then Leslie Jones from Saturday Night Live inadvertently. Although I don't think it's inadvertent. I think that even Leslie Jones was like come on. This is a bridge too far. And she's Leslie Jones. Poke in the eye with her umbrella, which they weren't allowed to have anyway. And then they forgot show the ball drop kind of an important thing. Yeah. Yeah. A little bit. So that was just a complete and utter disaster. Yes. Tomorrow. What's up? Yea, casey. I wanna be a part of people. I know you gotta have a foreign, but I just had a question for you at twenty nine teen. Do you think it'll stay the same be more tests or kind of digressing stop with the people weaponized in the police and calling the police on black people for doing everyday things like the, you know, the police are the security card. Police on 'em. He was talking on the phone and kicked them out of his own. I mean. Hold on. No, no. You can't. I'm not gonna let you come in. And and and run that that is that the story is the guy was in the lobby. So they would they were kicking them out of the lobby. He was staying agree with you. But they didn't go to his room and extracting she was talking on his cell cellphone. The guy was in the lobby. They gave options either leave or they were going to arrest us. So. The hotel. Yeah. That they gave him. But the thing about my point is when is this gonna stop you're saying like, you know, what I mean like isn't again, observing then no one really talks about it. They kinda like like silent. Like somebody's gonna get hurt. We can't have this this winning nineteen why white people so afraid of somebody just doing nothing. Well, here's here's the thing. I think we all whole host of those stories, and then we start nickname and people. You know, based on based on whatever creative juices reflect there on Twitter, the problem. The problem was what you had was you had a mix of people who quite obviously were using an inherent bias and their judgment. I don't disagree with you. But you also have you had a slate of those where the facts, frankly, don't support the charge that it was a racist thing that happened. But.

"Go Saturday night. I was watching Saturday Night Live. I watched Saturday Night Live less and less, but I happen to be watching this night when this comedian named Pete Davidson one of their cast members. Made what he thought was a joke. Now. I I don't think it was funny in the least as a matter of fact, I was I was just revulsed by it. Simple as that. He's they do the Saturday Night Live on the new set. Okay. And so they have a couple of news anchors, and they bring in people to to to make tibi funny supposed to be a comedy show. So Davidson decided on the Saturday night before the midterm elections. He decided that he would. Make fun of a US military veteran. A navy seal named Dan Crenshaw who's running for an open congressional seat in Texas as it turned out. Dan Crenshaw won the race. But not before Pete Davidson who is as goofy appearing, and I'm not talking about his look. So those look certainly qualify, but his whole demeanor his whole appearance appearance. The best thing that he's been known for. He was dating. Ariana GRANDE day. He was dating way above his head. Let me put it like that. So this is making the joke about a US military hero who lost an eye. In combat. When he was when he was hit by this is this was the original joke. We can go Saturday night. This guy is kind of cool, Dan Crenshaw..

"No, no, no, he start. We started the second. He couldn't really, you know, this has been talked about by me and Pete has talked about it a lot too, but he was not a strong reader. He literally like anytime new line would start, it'd be a new idea that he needed to keep saying, you know, it was just like crazy sense. And he couldn't see like he had to borrow Lawrence reading glasses and the second half of the table because they chop it up because it's so long as four and a half hours. We start reading. Well, first of all, the first half, the first thing is like, hey, Donald tread them very happy to be reading. You know what I think I think come out and say, I'm so so happy to be here host. I'm hosting Saturday Night. Live again, believe I'll think I'll say something like that and Lawrence grid like brilliant line by line all lateral or backwards steps. You know, I haven't hosted since nineteen forty, nine hundred ninety four before my show. I think I think what say is like I hosted before, and that was for the apprentice. The number one every this show at Brent is that everybody loved, that's why was I think I think I'll put it in my voice more and Lauren's like eventually had to say to, you know, we're going to talk about all of these after the fact, so you don't have to give Notre. Okay. Got it. Got it. We'll talk about it. I don't remember all this rating from the last time. Second half starts. In two pages into a sketch and his phone rings, and he goes, I heard that. Yeah. Yeah. Again, read now doing I'm doing at Saturday Night Live. Yeah. Okay. Oh, really? That's good. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Do that. And what did this. All right, then I would definitely say that to them. Yeah, not joking that it went on longer than that, and we're all just sitting there waiting and goes. So they're just gonna. Tell me my books number one. It was just it was. It was all you. And was that real even that call or was it? It's? It's a very reasonable question the question you're always asking. Yeah. Did you have any one on one interaction with him, like either in the sketch sketch or not a ton, and I'd already done them on the show and when he brought Milania and Vonk and her husband, Jared, Jared, to the dinner, that was, you couldn't remember name or you just don't wanna speak. Both? No, I couldn't remember. He's too bland. And they all came the dinner and they walk in and, and Donald says, right to says, he's like, we love, we loved your impression last week on the show. So grid Malani we love so much about that and then say anything to me and never really, never really said anything. And then. And during that dinner, he said to law and he's like, you know, learn if I don't win this thing. I'm going to be fine. All right. We just bought this beautiful piece of of land in Scotland, beautiful golf course. If I have to be president, I'm never going to see that thing. So disheartening. So where are your priorities? And by the way he's seen it a bunch. Yeah. And so nothing that we nothing like one on one I did have to do a bunch of stuff had to do the monologue right team ounded him. He wanted Daryl to do it too because Daryl, he knew Daryl and Donald and Higgins, Steve Higgins produce on the show, had had been collaborating and writing years earlier for a one man show for Darryl to do as Donald Trump in the vein of welfare -als George W Bush shou and Donald was in on that Donald was allowing it and going like, yeah, that'll be good people, huge, huge show and it didn't come to fruition. But his relationship with Darryl was part of that. The week after this Lorne produced adele's comeback concert at Radio City Music hall, and we all got to see it. This is Hello. And it was like the most spectacular musical events I've ever experienced yet other than prince playing at the fortieth. And Donald comes and sits right behind us. And I'm sitting next to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on her. Right, and he's sitting right behind us, and he goes, hear them. These are my pals..
