Borat Subsequent Moviefilm Is the Movie America Deserves
"I guys. Yes. Couple of Baratz here to talk to Amanda and I about one of the one of the movie moments of the year really in in a way and I'm fascinated to talk to you both about it because you guys on your show regularly cover the intersection of culture and politics. That's something that Borat is very focused on. I'm just going to read the full title of this film for the listeners out there. In case they didn't get a chance to check it out. It's called Borat subsequent movie film delivery of prodigious bribe to American regime for make. Benefit. For make benefit once glorious nation of Kazakhstan, I could hardly get through that I wanted to ask you both to start when you saw that Sasha Baron Cohen was returning as. Borat in a in a film, a movie film had, what did you think? Did you think we needed this Brian? Why don't you start us off Of course we need it. Of course, we need it because. The people that Borat likes to have Mary Fun with are now running the country. As opposed to fifteen years ago where they were having a little meeting often some holiday inn somewhere in America. So. We need it more than ever I. Think. David, what about you? Well. I mean to take from O'Brien. Said I mean a lot of people may have made the argument that they're sort of like no comedy in the age of trump right? That like that we that reality is pushed has gone too far and and you know comedies we know it is impossible I mean. I don't think it was an accident that trump was literally a Sasha Baron Cohen character in this movie because trump is metaphorically as Barron coin character from fifteen years ago right? It almost. I I will say when you read the title. Chuckled and there's a point about like halfway through the subtitle. The laugh actually kicks in at first. You're kind of like over here again, and then you're like, okay, they're just GONNA like they're gonNA. Wear me down and I think there was a lot to the movie to me. That I don't like it warm down but it was like I I was skeptical of it at first because I felt like already knew the joke and but but it was comfortable and it was really funny at times there were times where it sort of fell flat but but going back to what I said the. The beginning of this ramble. On when it fell flat, seem like that's when it was like it was like inversely making its own point that there's no joke to tell. You know it was it was a very surreal viewing experience. Amanda do you think that we needed Borat to did you need to? That's the question is it isn't it who needs it and who is receiving it because I grew Brian like we need it in the sense that we are living in the joke now, and we are maybe not living in what Borat Rot. Borat kind of pointed out, and then in a way gave power to and obviously the the media nature of of Borat and the figures who are inborn add is something that Brian and David can speak about at length, but it's really turned on itself and inverted. So many times from two, thousand, six to two, thousand, six correct to two, thousand and twenty that. You can't tell which way is up and that's really interesting, but there's A. It's a bummer to talk about like intention in comedy and effectiveness comedy but I think the way this was framed and when this was released, we're going to have to talk about it a bit and I don't know whether it sticks the landing that it's trying to.
Sacha Baron Cohen's 'Borat Subsequent Moviefilm' Reviewed
"Maybe it is time for all of us to laugh, but you're gonna have to do it at the expense of mostly conservatives. And Borat subsequent movie film It's released on Amazon Prime. It's out right now. Sasha Baron Cohen returns with Murat, a dumb and bigoted reporter from Kazakhstan. This time he has tasked with delivering his 15 year old daughter as a gift to Mike Pence. And yet again, Bora explores what the film wants you to believe is American culture in particular conservative American culture, which apparently It is comprised of dim witted and backwoods rubes. Now most notable for us in Washington state is that that much talked about And deceptively edited scene at an anti mask rally took place in Olympia, where Bora Cons the crowd into singing a mean spirited song, though even the movie you can kind of tell that the audience was mostly in on the joke America. Jokes, guys level homes. How you gonna do?
Giuliani claims innocence in response to Borat scene
"New York city mayor Rudy Rudy Giuliani says there's a very simple explanation to the compromising scene from the new borat movie that he found himself in. He claims he was talking in his shirt now have you guys heard the back story on this craziness? Tell us. So there's a scene in bore at to nobody has actually seen the scene yet. We've just gotten some still shots from it. But it makes it look like. Giuliani is in himself hands down the pants reclined on a bed after an actress playing baratz daughter in the movie interviews him in a fake or in a hotel room for fake TV. So and then invites him to have a drink with her. We'll Rudy said, that's not really what happened at all. He tweeted at no time before during or after the interview I ever inappropriate if Sasha Baron Cohen implies. He's a stone cold liar. He claims this whole thing is just orchestrated as retaliation for his exposure of the Biden family on behalf of president trump. He says as soon as he realized, something was not right like a little off with the situation he called the police and he said I had to take off the electronic recording equipment that was on me for the interview and he said when the equipment came off, some of it was stuck in the back and my shirt came out a little bit. When he's said, my clothes were totally on I. Leaned back to Tuck my shirt in and that's the photo that they have of him with his hands down his pants and this woman Dan's rooms into the and he said I, I assure you, that's all I was
Giuliani shown in hotel bedroom scene in new ‘Borat’ film
"President Donald trump's personal lawyer makes a cameo in the new movie but it's anything but a flattering appearance Rudy Giuliani ends up in a rather compromising position in the new Borek movie he is seen lying on his back on a hotel bed with his hands down the front of his pants as a young woman pretending to be a journalist stands before him the former New York City mayor was lowered to the hotel thinking he was being asked about the coded nineteen pandemic when the young woman flirts with him and invite him to a bedroom one that was rigged with cameras Giuliani asked for her phone number and address as he lays on his back comedian Sasha Baron Cohen rushes in and declares that the woman is fifteen trump's attorney says he was set up by the scene and did nothing inappropriate I'm Oscar wells Gabriel
Giuliani shown in hotel bedroom scene in new ‘Borat’ film
"Back. I hope quantum never thiss vials. All the Democrats general trap. First time comedian Sasha Baron Cohen's mock You. Minarik catches President Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani. In a rather compromising situation. ABC is Jason Nathan's and joining us on the coma News line. The film comes out Friday as Prince Worthy as it sounds, Jason. Yeah, I mean, if you're familiar with the board at movies in the Bruno movies and all the stuff that Sasha Baron Cohen does. This is very much along those lines and the scene. That's making headlines today involving Rudy Giuliani, which I can explain, but I'll have to give some spoilers if that's okay. I guess people can plug their ears if they don't want to hear it. How's that starting now? So the scene involves Rudy Giuliani in a hotel room with a reporter who is not actually a reporter, one of Sasha Baron Cohen's people, and she in the movie is actually his daughter, who is supposed to be 15. But the actress herself this 24? Yes, she's interviewing Rudy Giuliani. She looks like a you know, a 24 year old journalist. She doesn't Looks like she's 15 at all one. It's amazing that she's able to get an interview in her hotel room alone with Rudy Giuliani during Cove. It that's pretty incredible speaks to the testament of how good Sasha Baron Cohen and his people are being able to set stuff up like that. But during the interview part and it's part of the movie, she's flirting with him a lot. She's touching his knee. She's being very suggestive. That's all part of the thing. And then at the end of the interview, they get together. They're drinking Scotch by the way during the interview, and she says, Let's finish our drinks in the bedroom to which you go. Okay, and they go in the bedroom, and there's you know, there were there were cameras set up in the living room. But there are no cameras in the bedroom except for a hidden camera and they're helping each other, take their microphones off. So he helped her take her mike off and then his microphone is kind of tucked into his shirt and so in order to get it Now she has to unbuckle his pants, and at one point, he kind of leans back on the bed with his pants on buckled, and then he starts to tuck in his shirt. So it looks like his hands in his pants. And he's in this hotel room with this woman, And then Borat kind of bursts in and craziness ensues. And if you remember a couple months ago, Rudy Giuliani actually called the cops. On Sasha Baron Cohen for that, because he didn't know what was going on. But this footage that you see, and it's getting a lot of headlines today. And I think one headline from the Daily Mail said that Giuliani is fondling himself inside his pants, which is clearly not the case. He's talking his shirt back into his pants. But it's not a good look really for him. For somebody who's the senior advisor to the president to be in a hotel room with a woman like that, with his pants on buckled and drinking Scotch, and he's touching her on the hip. Very suggestively and playfully and says that she should give him her phone number and her address and things like that. It doesn't look great, but there's nothing illegal or necessarily inappropriate going on. There's even a scene with Mike Pence in this movie. Yeah, there is a barren Colin actually goes with CPAC conference. He's in there dressed up as President Trump and he's running around with this girl who is supposed to be his daughter over his shoulder. He's trying to give her as a peace offering from In Kazakhstan to Mike Pence. He wants to give Mike Pence his daughter, his only daughter, and that's part of the whole big, so he's right. Actually, he's running around as my pencil speaking on the stage gets in, and he makes a commotion, and then you get escorted out by a lot of people. So it's It's definitely Sasha Baron Cohen getting himself into those situations that we've seen him do before, which could be uncomfortable but also very, very funny. And also, there's a lot of social and political messages going on kind of trying to get to the heart of A lot of people's racism and prejudice and things like that, In a very funny way. 'The West Wing' enlists big names for its When We All Vote reunion special
"Thanks. I'm a big fan of Aaron Sorkin and tell us why This is a good time for me in television, because I like him so much. He absolutely if you didn't watch it yesterday, a cz, always with streaming. You can watch it at your leisure. But yesterday they dropped on HBO, Max. Ah, Special reunion of the West Wing cast is probably his most legendary TV show The West Wing and gathered almost everybody from the cast for Martin Sheen and Allison Janney and Rob Lowe and so forth. To recreate an episode from one of the early seasons as a theatrical staged event in an empty theater, But they filmed it like it was a play and it was in that shifted from scene to scene and it was really cleverly done, but also just reminded you how Wonderful that Siri's wass and how inspirational it was, even though it was about politics. So if the dueling if the dueling town halls and so you may be this would've last night, but it's still out there, but even more so today, Netflix drops another Aaron Sorkin project. Which he wrote and directed. It's called the Trial of the Chicago Seven, and it goes back to the sixties, when those counterculture figures Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin and Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale and others were put on trial for inciting the riots that disrupted the 1968 Democratic convention. It was a big media circus, and this film looks like it's got it all and including a terrific cast, including two Emmy winners from this season. Jeremy strong from succession and one of the stars of watchman job doing the team. They're playing two of the defendants. You also have frankly, Angela's The judge and Michael Keaton's in there. Sasha Baron Cohen's in there. Doing dramatic bit, and it just sounds like again. Aaron Sorkin is knows his way around a courtroom. If you remember his very first big hit was a few good men. So if you like Aaron Sorkin style you've got two choices was like a double whammy of Aaron Sorkin this week. Now? Yeah, I once interviewed Jerry Rubin, a za journalism student at Penn State, and he was in the Rolfing, which is when you beat yourself up physical. Just one strange cat, man. I got to say yes. A new movie the name of this borat movie is Borat Colon Gift of pornographic monkey to vice premier Mikhail pens to make benefit recently diminished nation of Kazakhstan. The Sasha. Who is about to begin an Oscar campaign for his role as Abbie Hoffman in the trial of the? CHICAGO. Seven. has also decided to almost simultaneously release a Borat Movie I. Think that could work in two directions for him. Certainly, it will make him more famous. Again, it will put more people. A brighter light on him at this moment but also it could work to undermine his seriousness as a performer because. Or at is Borat. Yes I my reaction to this was on the one hand I'll take any new movie that I can get at this point in two thousand twenty but on the flip side. Do, we need this particular movie right now and. Recently, I, guess I'M GONNA announce this on this podcast. I made a letterbox profile. Everyone. You broke me I. Did it okay. Congratulations. Is your is your top row just Borat four times. Jon Stewart movie and I did not give it a great rating and I was thinking about that movie and just how of its time it felt by by which I mean two, thousand, six, two, thousand, seven like that. Jon Stewart era and how much that rubbed both of us the wrong way and I can't help. Feeling that Borat. which was released in two thousand and six might just be a two thousand, six cultural product that doesn't really speak to twenty twenty in the same

Rudy Giuliani Called the NYPD on Sacha Baron Cohen During Interview Prank
"That it's tough to fool a true New York er. He's fooled world leaders like the former vice president's great honor to be next to Wilhelm. Mention Sasha Baron Cohen couldn't fool. Rudy Giuliani, the president's personal attorney, tells the New York Post he showed up in New York City's ritzy Mark Hotel for what he thought was going to be a serious interview about the administration's response to covert 19. Rudy Giuliani Called the NYPD on Sacha Baron Cohen During Interview Prank
"Rudy Giuliani called the NYPD when Sasha Baron Cohen I'm wearing a spangly pink bikini trying to prank him into a spoof interview. So they lured him into this interview What he thought was a serious interview about the administration's response to Cove in 19. He said he was offered payment for the interview and asked that the money be donated to the Stephen Siller tunnel to Towers Foundation, which is yes. Ah female interviewer began the conversation in a room fitted out with professional set up lights, camera a few just softball questions. And Giuliani says this guy comes running running in wearing a crazy What I would say is a pink transgender outfit. Mind. I wanted to re phrase it that way that anyway, he immediately hey, didn't immediately recognize. Him. But, yeah, I called the police and didn't agree to the interview, also said he's a fan of some of his movies. He said Bora in particular, because I've been Tio. How do you say it? Kazakhs has six Don or whatever. All and he cited a line from the movie and he thought that was really funny. Oh, gosh, I wish she would have gone along with the interview knowing it was Sasha Baron that thumb.
'Borat' ended Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock's marriage
"And Pamela Anderson. Use to remarry mismatched last very law did not, they dated for a while got married and then almost I mean, I think they made it less than a year. I think okay bought we're learning today that there is one person to blame for the break-up of their marriage of sure. Tommy lee. Negative. Oh, kid real saw the movie, and I texted pounded tonight, said have the go? What did you think? And she takes it back. He's getting divorced, why she goes the movie and I thought it was Jay, but then a few weeks later, they got divorced when they put his reason for divorce poor at. Sasha baron. Cohen is the reason. Why getting they do? Well, so do you remember the movie borat, Pamela Anderson is in the movie, and there's a scene where she borat is kidnapping, Pamela Anderson, and, you know, like the scene behind bars movies, you never really know, who's in on it, and if it's if it's a joke, and if it's not, I mean, it's very confusing experience. But in this case in the movie, borat, Pamela Anderson was in it because we're at was obsessed with Pamela Anderson, and so she was being kidnapped Pamela Anderson was in on the joke, but she didn't tell anybody that she was on a including her own husband kid rock. Yeah. So when Pamela Anderson showed kid rock the movie. I don't know if he didn't like how much she was in it or the obsession or the kidnapping or what? And they both cited kid rock amp. Pamela Anderson cited on their divorce papers borat. So we're up with them. I don't know. He he's been married for a long time to Fisher. There's something there was a scene, where there something about her sex tape in it, yet, because she was with timely before, Mabel that. And so I think that's part of it like, oh, let me see that sexy. You know, then may this brought it back up. He's I I don't know. There were reports. I mean, this is all back in two thousand six by the way. But we're just now learning that it was borat, who is to blame or lease who they're blaming. There were reports that kid rock blew up at Pam after seeing the movie and it did. Indeed 'cause they're split and Saburo. It was like, guess there were casualties. Movie has major lawsuits all the time. But we continue to go. See boroughs, hilarious

"Roads. Yep. The bar. You know what? What the laundromat or it's listening and washing your clothes out. Yeah. I'm listening. Do that at work. Wash your clothes at work. The workplace kitchenette take us with you. Details. Details. Moayed of moving. Who? That's right. I saw bohemian rhapsody last night. And I'll give you the review, and then I'll tell you about something to happen. I feared. The result of this movie about a year and a half ago two years when it was this movie has been plagued almost from the beginning. If you guys remember Sasha baron Cohen signed on to play, Freddie Mercury. And I believe he was also a producer. And then he left the project created. Yeah. And he said on stern. Sometimes that's I almost cost sometimes when you hear creative differences or were pursuing other opportunities. That's usually a BS line in this case there really was creative differences and the crux of the issue for Sasha. Was that Sasha actually wanted to do a good movie Sasha really wanted to to go into the nuances of Freddie, mercury's life and not just skate over the details. And and because Queen was involved the surviving members of Queen Sasha felt that they really wanted and look it's human nature. I can understand they wanted to kind of gloss over some of the more. Assorted tawdry details. Yeah. Anyway, the movie. The movie is disappointing. It is. It is only slightly better than a bio pic. You would see on TNT or maybe net flicks. And I say that because it's very formula. And I look and I like a good cheese ball bio pic? But it's like there. There's nothing. Really inventive here. It's almost like the two four six directors. Yeah. They had a checklist of everything you're supposed to do in a bio-pic. Okay. We're going to start especially for a rockstar. Okay. We're gonna start with that Rockstars last performance. And then we're going to go backwards in time. And then at the end of the movie, we're going to go back to that final performance and wrap it up. Okay. And then we're going to start with the parents that don't believe in them. And then we're going to talk about their self doubt. And then they make it and then the band breaks up. So it's like a checklist of everything. But none of those things are examined in any detail. Which is a shame because there are so many aspects of Freddie, mercury's life in queens existence that you wish this movie would have hyper focused not been so broad in their time line, you there somewhere in this movie. There is a really good que-. Gene movie and somewhere in this movie exists a really good, Freddie. Freddie. Mercury biography. Sadly, this movie is neither of those things because they're too broad and the time line, which then doesn't allow them to really examine the great nuances of, Freddie, mercury's life or the bands existence together. And how do they dealt really with fame? I mean, it's like they meet and boom, they're famous and then boom, Freddie, Mercury is often running and boom. Interesting bits. No, no, right. That's what we want. We wanted to be some depth there. What actually happens? Now. I wanna know. Like, for instance, let me take one aspect. I would love to know. And Colin brought this up Colin being younger and not really living through Queen. He's like, wow, I know that that era because you know, Freddie, almost until I believe till he died kind of danced around the fact that he had eight that he did he had aids. And he wasn't real open with talking about his sexuality. I wanted to examine that a little bit more. I wanna do examine the dynamic between the band, and Freddie, you saw a little bit of it. You know, when Freddie really got kind of for lack of a better term high on the horse. A slow down and talk about that the band's dynamic of Freddie's self destruction. And how that affected the band at large. But they just it was kind of like one scene, and we moved on. Anyway. Now, that's that's that's my those are my beefs spill see this film are. Yeah. Because you should see this in a theater, you know, what saves it is Ramey. Malik does a fantastic job. Sometimes it borders on imitation and not a performance. But one reviewer I believe from the LA times said this, and I wholeheartedly agree any buddy any performer that can stand onstage stand on film for two plus hours and come to life. Is Freddie Mercury deserves our respect. Because Freddie, Mercury without much debate is probably one of the most energetic dynamic performers in music, especially in the latter. Half of the twentieth century for you to embody any aspect of Freddie is pretty remarkable. So for that Ramey deserves a lot of praise for this performance. He sadly is sometimes better than the movie. He's in. Now, we're going to take a break we're gonna break a little earlier when we come back. I'm going to tell you why. The the night took a detour. We'll be right back. If you're a woman boobs..

At this moment but the episode the Dick Cheney appeared in actually aired on Sunday and he manages to, get Dick Cheney, to sign his, waterboarding kit yes Dick, Cheney does you know. Thinking the whole thing is in all in good You know being polite yeah Autographed, a waterboarding, kit on? TV The other thing is my biggest baron Cohen is going to now put up. On, EBay and donate to charity yeah I saw that. Today that it's up on EBay. The show is, who is America it's on Showtime Before we talk. About the Georgia legislative guy who is presiding? Now, because of his appearance there my big question is how is this show gonna continue now, that it's, only two episodes but everyone's talking about everyone knows what's going on how's he going to get any more, guests well I guess the question that same. Question was asked actor after Sasha baron Cohen did his you know became really famous and he's. Of course done borat l. e. g. and all of the rest of. It how we could ever get away with, it and the answer to that question was he just went into deeper disguise and I don't know I think that you. Would think would be up with something like this you could only do it so many times but I I've. Begun, to conclude that there is no limit to what. People will do to get on. Camera even famous Famous famous people so I wouldn't be in the least, bit surprised, if this code couldn't didn't go into a second season he'll of course have to disguise himself as other, individuals he won't be able to do the. Same ones he did before but you would think people would learn their lesson but I've I've. Ceased to think that anymore I think one of the nature nature's of. Human beings is they never learned their lesson, I hit my head on the dub hallway going down into my basement and I've lived in this house for, thirty years Well speaking of hitting your head Jason Spencer has resigned from the Georgia, legislature following the backlash from his episode that aired With Sasha baron Cohen he and I did see clips He dropped trowel and mooned and, he used. The n. word over and over in fact yelling. It and, now. He's, out, of the, legislature in Georgia I mean unbelievable yeah Sasha baron Cohen Br pretends to be a an anti-terrorist and he is giving all of these. Bits of advice of how one deals with with terrorists and he gets this, guy to do the most outrageous things including yelling out probably America's most offensive word in. Its language and eight, down his pants and, exposed himself and to just say one thing after another each one, of them. Individual, would have been career, destroying and together of course well. As you pointed out he's resigned Yeah Wow, well I do have, to say. Go ahead any one of us are vulnerable to? To this somebody invites you to do an interview and you're not expecting to be set up in. Some ways the beginning you're trying to, be polite but still Ted Koppel fell into in this past episode into the clutches of Sasha, baron Cullen and he did the interview until he realized that this guy was just, outrageously ridiculous and then he stopped the interview and you would think that's what most people would, would do but it's not what most. People do Ted Koppel is actually in the minority in. Doing. That Well it's certainly something to watch and we'll I can't, wait to see if they continue getting. Guests and such that as as you feel they will Wednesday you don't. Have to wait too long because, there's gonna be another episode come Sunday yeah can't wait I. Gotta start recording, I forgot. It was even starting though so I've been. Watching some videos but there's a. Reason that you it's not like you forgot, they were very very, secretive this thing was in, production for a year there was nothing said about it and until last. Week Showtime was. Promoting it not with the title not with who did it but is. This, mysterious thing that was going to start, on July fifteenth so it was it was kept under wraps until a couple of days before they viewed The Spencer a. Clown from Georgia let me just try and do this on the radio He he had. A message to terrorists in which he addresses all you And words sand and words over in the Middle. East then he pretended, to dismember, a hooded, figure who was supposedly terrorist it. Wasn't a human but he he said. We're gonna cut off your, dick you understand then he will take. It we'll take us and words and we'll. Shove it, in your mouth then he dropped. Trowel and mooned, the camera and yeah. That's that's, a guide for cheeses and of course all, of that stuff Sasha. Baron baron. Cohen's character was instigating him to do but he did it it is I've seen that episode now a couple of times and it's just extraordinary how I guess anybody a bit is that gullible and be that under any circumstances. Would, say the kinds of things that he said you ought to resign Oh yeah I. Mean come, on even the the the main guy in, the Georgia legislature said. This guy's. Got to resign and now he is resigning pretty amazing well again it Sundays on Showtime and you need to start recording it if you got Showtime if you don't get Showtime because it's a great channel or whatever you call Anybody really strange offers to interview you you you wear oh well I do it in the second I just would be totally totally cool I. Wouldn't drought our use the n. word or anything but, yeah, you're right though you gotta, be careful man he's very. Polite he cooperates as it gets? More, and more ridiculous and then he realizes that the whole thing is whatever any leaves. He claims by the, way, that he, never, signed any kind of relief and that aired. Anyway, so. I'm not, sure what kind of a, legal grounded Sasha baron Cohen is treading on, but we may find out, is there a Palin actually litigated yeah. Fascinating, stuff, as always our good, friend Dr hall of Famer for a. Long time Syracuse university, pop culture professor Robert Thompson Bob thanks so much as always we'll talk soon I can't wait thank you okay Yeah man this. Is crazy. Crap Like I keep saying it's. Time, to. Have a talk show You can't make this stuff up The. Boho buzz with Steph whole Burke, the editor the bohemian coming. Up Sarah Hartman from iron man Andy Ross, from, the San, Francisco Chronicle, look snow mechanic supervisor. David rabbit and California wine country. Tom, seminar in with Dan Berger today. We'll be back in the draft Michael Gurion have you seen that. Sasha baron Cohen show no I'm, I'm not a fan I. Am not a fan.

Took advantage of his state of mind and apparently the Georgia legislature state of mind is that he's so afraid of terrorists that he'll do anything because ISIS is a problem in southern Georgia And we have yet to see what Sasha baron Cohen does to Sarah Palin and former Bush attorney general Alberto Gonzalez right I don't know why I find this whole bit so. Funny It's cringe each cringing. To me Bernie Sanders bit oh that's cringing I just find home and find Sasha. Baron Cohen this whole bit brilliant Bernie. Sanders It. Does okay. And North Korea I'm Mary Walter with Vince colonnades good morning Georgia lawmakers are now, calling on, one of their colleagues to. Resign, he's a guy, by the name of Jason Spencer he's a Republican he's a state Representative in Georgia and, the reason for this. Was because he appeared on Sasha baron Cohen Showtime program who is America over the weekend this is the same program that's attracted so much controversy and by the, way attention and as. A result more ratings although it didn't do. That well the first. Week, I don't know. How the second week David the first week, didn't attract that many. Viewers but Sasha baron Cohen he- he- dressed, up in disguise. As and referred to as a character in Israeli, character, focusing on anti-terrorism. Read jokes that he was in the body He's. Says his name is Colonel Aaron Murad and. He's, there to talk about, ways to counter terrorism as. You takes on this guy this this, congressman, Jason, Spencer and. Trains him on how to handle terrorists, Jason Spencer became known briefly for his anti for his burqa band. Bill he had attempted to basically banned face, coverings in the state. Of Georgia and had attracted some. Attention for that from various people in the past so such a baron, Cohen thank thought he was a ripe target. For this I have to say this man embarrasses himself pretty profoundly throughout this I don't know how you, how you, would exactly come back from. The, nonsense he agrees, to throughout all of this this is a very stupid individual this is this is a, tragically stupid person I. But Sacha baron Cohen got him going and boy did he get fall in for it hook line and sinker here's how he begins such a barren On He's in disguise, again is this really terrorism? Expert and he's talking to Spencer about this push for a burqa. Ban I don't call it a burqa. Van I call it an anti masking. Statute. Okay Because in the. Well to win in the legal system. Vacation time is sacred began wife keeps trying to get. Us out on vacation I just don't think it's. Going to happen this year we're going. To travel back to visit the family a, few times, we just haven't gone I'm. Like a family vacation in a while but man I'm, jealous of the photo it looks like Kevin's eaten a. Lot of ice cream which is something I, do all the time to can I just. Say this is not a sponsor but I just wanted to, bring it up I finally eight at. Lyons choice for the first time, finally and I've lived here. For a year. I should have been there sooner but I really enjoyed it it was good You know I went there twice actually. I went there once and I, liked it so much I decided to go there again and I really liked, it the thing that, impressed me, the most were, there twenty five cent kid. Cones. So I got the three year old. He doesn't need a full size large ice cream. Right and you take a kid somewhere you want to try to. Limit the amount of sugar they have but if the, smallest. They got us still too large you're like what. Am I supposed to do my supposed to eat half. Of intimate supposed to siphon some of it off. When he's not looking it doesn't work. That way because they're protective kids with their, ice cream, but you go there and. They get these little kid cones awesome it was perfect, size twenty five cents even that's the type of money. I like to spend on ice cream and, so then I eventually went back and then. For a third time I drove through bought an ice cream, on the way into work one day. And those are good just a, not a sponsor but I. Really enjoyed it So I wanted to talk about ratings came out today. So Sasha baron Cohen he is the guy that did the. Borat he was the guy that did Bruno and Ali g. basically he's a. Character actor that try to tries to. Do these like humorous interviews where he gets people, and? He does outrageous things like this, his whole idea is you know he he wants to be shocking. I know he's done, some other acting but really hasn't, any notable, notable films to date as far? As I know at least I I think he was in that one Hugo movie but it was. A very minor role I don't think he was in anything else that. Was any good he was rumored to be Freddie Mercury and. The. Queen movie that was, coming out but. He dropped off that I'm assuming the company didn't want to work with. Him so the actually picked up to. Play Freddie Mercury I've seen the, previews of it he is like I'm he like nails it so that is, an exciting film that, looks like, it'll be coming, out but he's got this A new comedy on Showtime called. Who is America in part of this comedy he dresses. Up in England there is some controversy because he did. This interview with Sarah. Palin dressed apparently as a disabled veteran and. They fooled her into this interview on they stringer along the Dick Cheney and Bernie Sanders and some of these other politicians he did these sit down interviews with I if you're politician you gotta be. Able to sniff this, out from a, mile away that there's going. To be some sort of you know, this is a joke interview they they gotta be more aware of that and. I think they're, so sensitive to not offend someone that they just, go along with it the one interview. Was I forgot who it was but he said he sat down. For about an hour until they got tired of it and it's like I'm sorry. I just got to go and they just got up and left which is essentially. What they want out footage is you take your. Microphone off leaving these are the. Type of people, that you would not be. Friends with to Sasha baron Cohen guy I don't know because he's probably, the type of person That is..

"Wants to be more like net flex at wants to turn out the content to, get more subscribers rather, than focus on just award stuff so this, battle between networks and HBO now is going to heat up did you know there's a, Richie rich show on Netflix the I mean I did not I didn't either until last, week in fact but that but that, proves your point that they are marketing a lot of this to the younger two teenagers younger kids like that and I know, that, they have in the works an animation program that they're going to be putting on because they want to drive. The content for those younger ages right because if they lock in those younger, viewers than they are net flicks people for life yeah that's how they. Keep their subscribers, and keep their keep growing in those numbers because you gotta. Get 'cause, that age they're just they're not watching broadcast television no more but they're on their screens all. The time they're on their screens so net flicks wants them to be, watching them rather than you know YouTube or something else Sasha baron Cohen is out with a new show on Showtime it's called who is America. And I it made headlines yesterday of are not yesterday last week because. Sarah Palin was one of his all use the word, victims here Dana Rohrbach, or the congressman from from here in California also associated with. It in fact there's a big Orange County Register, article today about how. The congressman was fooled into this show into agreeing, to be on the show the numbers are not good for the show already know they weren't and with all the. Attention? That it got this was it's one big chance to make a kind of splash and. Get, those big numbers and so you're thinking with all the talk about it and all the headlines that. Only translated into a on its first viewing on Sunday, at the, whatever nine o'clock or ten o'clock timeslot three. Hundred twenty seven thousand. People tuned into that I mean that's nothing especially in the world of a broadcast and cable. And pay cable I mean that's just in the the demo, of adults eighteen to forty nine which, is coveted advertiser range a point one rating I mean those are those are not numbers and then over the course of subsequent, airings And on demand it did add quite a. Few. More people that number ticked up to almost a, million but you gotta think for for a premier for something that you know everybody's been waiting. A week, to see how Sasha baron Cohen got these guys for only three hundred twenty seven thousand people to tune in is not a lot. I I will say though in the numbers of Showtime Showtime doesn't have huge numbers when it comes to show, so it kind of falls right in the affair gets five hundred thirty eight thousand are cartoon. President gets one hundred eighty six thousand so that's right in the middle of those so it's a solid number I guess for Showtime but given all the publicity it did not make a big splash thought it would have been better oh. And I, I wanted to also bring up the there was this study that showed that. Because men, are film critics the world of film critics dominated by men that female directors and. Films that focus on women get. Short shrift, yeah this is an interesting study, out of the university San Diego State university And they looked at the number of the four thousand reviews on..

"And it's being broadcast live so we've gotta figure something out and then we're going to start holding these people cannibals we have to divert and when they took him to court the judge might be said you know we'll send a message here and see if anybody hears that message we'll see if anybody out there here's the message and i bet a lot of people do and here's the other thing though what if you're on a flight it's a long flight and you've you know you you get to the airport you know airport hollick's and they have a few drinks but they're sober issue no that you wouldn't dry but they're not drunk but you get on an airplane and you continue to be sold booze over and over again and then you get unruly don't you think that would have a key i think they would have a case there say you guys should have sold me booze you should have known better because that's the way somebody's gonna fight it zubi interesting though to see it really is what happens three two three five three eight twenty four twenty three at chadbensonshow is your twitter sasha baron cohen of course is duping everybody left right and center has got sheriff joe arpaio he is he's hit more than a few and this isn't happening now like this isn't like he's not going somewhere now this happened over the last several months and people are now just finding out that they were duped and of course sarah palin is really upset it got worse and worse and worse as the minutes went on in this bizarre i'm really embarrassing humiliating interview that it mocked middle class americans it mocked our values it it mocked the disabled it's yeah you know i don't know what he did 'cause we've not seen it yet they're being very tight lipped and with all of this stuff coming in i know showtime and i think cbs own showtime i think they're starting to feel a bit of the heat they're excited about it but at the same time you know you start to wonder does he go too far in this day and age of political correctness does he overstepped his boundaries and to me and i don't know who was somebody else was just sasha baron cohen got a another talk show host and you know i he thinks it's hilarious he's he's fine with it and that's the way i think you should take it because it takes the sting out of it when you can just laugh about something like this many people they can't they just freak out and they lose their mind and when you do that you're got that's what they want when you do that the oh man it was austin rows of wg a c in augusta who was apparently gotten if you will and find it amusing mocking the disabled and mocking and belittling our vets with his portrayal in my book it's not funny no no but here's the thing and this is what i'm going to tell everybody out there and this is this is where you just have to learn to laugh in his book and the audience he's appealing to you or the punchline not disabled if that's true what he did or vets you or the punchline it's about making you feel uncomfortable it's about mocking you that's what it is they're not the punch line you are this quote unquote comedian is obviously very good at lying at duping people because look at the long lists now since i've come out and describe my experience all these all these other guys all these men coming out now saying oh yeah me too me too he got the ha ha me to me too me too and i like i said i don't know what showtimes gonna do but loving every second of it i'm sure is the run up into this and it'll be a it may be one of those things i have a feeling a lot of it is going to be the you're going to be watching something knowing people are being duped and i'm sure there's gonna be some extremely uncomfortable things there because i they're the punchline the dick cheney's of the punch lines sarah palin of the punchline the sheriff joe pies of the punch lines you guys are the punchline not the other people these quote unquote mocking whatever this show is is whatever this interview really is is all about humiliation and.

"Love this okay now they're trolling to the largest degree of all time we can talk about later i think sasha baron cohen we can talk about it right now he's talking about it now sure now he's trolling speaking of trolls yes trolling dick cheney he's trolling sarah palin he's trolling sheriff joe are pyo and he's doing a new show for showtime which is owned by the same group is cbs news correct correct and so he's doing a new show and he's pranking all of these people and getting them to agree to interviews and then it turns into the old sasha baron cohen stick that we've come to know and love he shows up as different kinds of people yes and it's interesting to see the reaction of the people that he has tried to prank sarah palin was very very upset because she felt he misrepresented veterans i think he came as a as a wounded veteran or something like that ted koppel did you see this ted koppel got pranked ted koppel got pranked and so he's end with coppell and showing up as forgot what the character who's playing but coppell not knowing it sasha baron cohen but a few minutes into says wait a minute you can't be this stupid i don't believe in shutting people down but this is my home we're gonna ask you to leave and he had a good attitude about it he said later looking we love to see big shots pranked but they got to be good at it well he did it to ron paul and the bruno movie remember that yes where he addressed in the room they were in a hotel romany undress down to his skivvies and ron paul walked out of the interview now just did it to representative from florida gets who got he got practice was minor he didn't remember it until it came up later on remember this guy my office it turns out that he even though he's a conservative republican is a huge sasha baron cohen oh that's hilarious not quite angry about all of it you think cbs is gonna get in any trouble for this because they do have a news division and there are certain ethical standards that if you if you work for cbs that you must adhere to and people also the lines are blurred between what's entertainment and what's news john john ballard blurred what lenny talk there are no lines anymore no pretty much they're not but if you look at the guest list for stephen colbert the guest list for that show in face the nation sometimes aren't that different well you know i realize what's happened here to be a successful late night comedian you have to be only about politics at this point and only anti trump i'm waiting for some really good intelligent funny conservative to do a late night show for all those disenfranchised people who feel left out late night well that used to be jimmy fallon who wasn't conservative was apolitical but i mean political but conservatives sort of like a gregg gut fell but different on a network or on a cable channel on a network you think that would play i think he could pick up a quarter of the audience or fifth of the audience you be ahead see i think that's a huge mistake i think they should go back to the jay leno model and the original jimmy fallon model where he played it straight and you hit both sides and you specifically hit whoever's in power at that time and if you do an honest job at it i think you'll bring in the heartland of the country i don't think people need to be preached to about politics is very quaint and for a young man to be so nostalgic of long past it's changed it's all changed right now first of all anger wins so anger tied with comedy and sarcasm will win i don't think somebody could do a straight late night show anymore but it's not even funny anymore jimmy kimmel and he's talking about healthcare or he's talking about gun control or he's talking about immigration he doesn't even do them with jokes he will give a speech that is just a straight political speech where he puts his point of view let me give you an analogy that's stretching the analogy a little bit but be nice to meet you okay i can't make any promise okay change police chases yeah pursuits while those speaking of which rod bernsen is gonna join us later all.

"The name sasha baron cohen he is a british comedian actor you may know him better by the some of the characters he's developed that have turned into stars in their own right and been movies around allie g bruno bowrap okay and basically the premises always the same if you're not one hundred percent sure he has a character that is usually completely over the top of whatever it is they are very complete caricature of something and he goes around and in some way shape or attempts to do interviews or act as this character and makes people feel uncomfortable etc and then quote unquote hilarity ensues well there is a new show that debuts sunday night on showtime it's called who is america you've been warned that's the name of the show it is it's just i'm going to read what they describe it as a satirical half hour series from comedian sasha baron cohen in his return to series television for the first time in more than a decade in the works over the past year the seven episode series explores the diverse individuals from the infamous to the unknown across the political and cultural spectrum who populate our unique nation i think that is a very vanilla description of what it is we're going to see sunday night because what we're finding out is some of the people he has interviewed and who are coming out to admit that they were duped that he lied to them to get an interview that he was in some sort of a costumer makeup or character and there's some pretty big names in there yes sarah palin is does e you know you can imagine how hard it was to do per here's what she has to say this quote unquote comedian is obviously very good at flying at duping people because look at the long lists now since i've come out and describe my experience all these all these other guys all these men coming out now saying oh yeah me too okay there was odd the whole thing she says to me to sasha baron cohen quote heavily disguised himself as a disabled veteran fake wheelchair in all to get an interview with sarah palin so he apparently used different characters to get different interviews do you do you remember roy moore yes judge roy moore the guy in alabama who lost the senate race the guy who wrote a horse to vote on get like if you by the way if you're looking for straight comedy roy moore's horse on twitter is an absolute riot in and of himself he got roy moore as a matter of fact they they told roy moore that he was going to receive a award for his strong support of israel and flew him to washington dc for a fake awards ceremony in which he was interviewed and is part of this say they flew him flew him to dc to washington dc to receive an award for my strong support of israel wow well you know a little bit closer to home i should say in roy moore votes i don't need sasha cohen detail me who america is but i can tell him that america's a proud and action which bring from humble beginnings of strong belief in god virtue and morality says roy moore who has absolutely none of that on his side dick cheney he got vice president dick cheney former vice president and there's a clip that came out where he asked dick cheney at the end of the interview to sign quote his waterboarding kit what are boarding it's it's a bucket of water like a gallon of water and dick cheney does which is odd and maybe the best one sheriff joe yes slow closer to home sheriff joe says he was tricked trek i tell you i mean he was very uncomfortable so sunday night you'll see sarah palin roy moore pyo sheriff joe now it's seven part series so who knows who is in what order but they're sasha baron cohen has spent the last year undercover in disguise quietly duping people who watch know what's common with all these people never met a camera they didn't like l never met a camera they didn't like did it probably wasn't too hard to get them to show up not at all check of the headlines is on the way bob mcclay as on top of that to two different education issues will be on the ballot in november we'll tell you about them did you ready are you ready to vote red for ed ready to.

"Now continues so we have in our possession more information about sasha baron cohen and sarah palin so yesterday we have the detail about some of the questions that were asked of sarah palin we also had heard that sarah palin had finally had enough of what she thought was a legitimate interview with a wounded us soldier a veteran she finally took the mic often walked out of the interview and she had flown all the way across the country and she had flown from alaska all the way to washington dc and it turns out that this was for this new sasha baron cohen got he he's getting a ton of free publicity there's two ways to look at it either talk about the story and what a disgrace it was for sasha baron cohen to be wheelchair bound impersonating a wounded veteran so the talk about the story and and talk about how repulsive that was under that premise because by talking about it we are building up the ante and the promotion of this showtime sasha baron cohen ambush interview series listen it's a double edged sword but we do know that apparently the straw that broke the camel's back was a question about chelsea clinton and apparently sarah palin walked out after this terrible question was asked about chelsea clinton and the source has told people magazine quote all of it was obnoxious but i think the last straw was when the interviewer asked about what he claimed was a government funded sex change operation for chelsea clinton chelsea clinton so sarah palin walked out now the belief is is that they were trying to get sarah palin to say something of hate or something that was homophobic or anti transgender something to that effect to try to nail sarah palin now if you believe if this report is accurate if you believe this report sarah palin underwent about a two and a half hour interview this had gone on for like why did she sit there that long or was the bulk of it legitimate and then toward the end they started peppering her with trying to build up the cran the legitimacy of the interviewer then they start whacking with the nasty stuff toward the end now it is also being reported she's i want nothing to do with alex jones on that nut job and you know info wars and that absolute crap and the stuff that alex jones that conspiracy garbage that he panels i want no part of that and jessica's i'm a conservative i i'm i'm a radio person i'm an entertainer i'm a conservative and i want no part of the alex jones conspiracy garbage the torment and pain that he brought about for the sandy hook families by suggesting that no kids died and they were all actors and we just disgusting i mean despicable and it's all part of alex jones is business model which i don't even personally i don't believe that he believes any of the crap that he spews it's all part of his money making venture customer a lot of folks that believe his crap and that's what's sad because i don't think alex jones believes and i think it's an act in fact i've been told that it's an act that he was a mediocre radio guy until he came up with the whole conspiracy angle and that's a look at the products at the sponsors the advertisers it's it's all new it's all a batch knit crazy stuff or a lot of it is so why am i invoke him because the report says that sasha baron cohen was wearing a bullet necklace so a necklace with bullets on it and that his laptop had info wars stupid alex jones junk all over the laptop so info wars stickers were were on this this laptop which wow unbelievable so that apparently was the straw that broke the camel's back you know there's also reports that he's gone after liberals as well so it's not just you know we've heard we've heard now that he's gone after sarah palin dick cheney he made this chelsea clinton comment but there are reports that he went after.
