"A deep dive. Check it out. 54 minutes past the hour picking up your calls, Scott and Sarasota, Florida. Hey, Scott. Hey, Tom, I'm down here in the epicenter of right-wing lunacy. And this is the home of Michael Flynn and the hollow, you've heard about that, I'm sure, right? I have forgotten. So president and well, they've got a place he lives here in Sarasota county. And they have a place called the hollow and that's where Trump is my president and Jesus is my lord. And they've got their own gun range and they gather and this is a home. It's like a neighborhood or a condo association or no it's I would describe it as kind of like a ranch. And where they gather and they do what they do. But the same thing. Exactly. And the scary, one of the scary things I wanted to bring up was the Q and honors have literally taken over the public school board. And they were elected through a lot of dark money. Ron DeSantis was a huge backer, which he did for school boards all over the state. And so they all ran together. And got elected in the first thing they did was motion to fire the superintendent, who was very, very highly rated. And this is all backed by moms for liberty. You've heard of them. Yeah, this is this right wing group that's financed by right-wing billionaires, yeah. Yeah, well, they're the ones basically that took over the school board. And we call them the wives of Gilead. They're just very scary people. But we have a half a minute. Scott for you to get right to the point. And my point is it's just something I think we need to be paying attention to because it's happening all over all over the country. They fired a conservative Republican that was doing a fantastic job because little Billy had to wear a mask to school. So yeah, so it's just something that I wanted to bring to people's attention because that's how I mean, they go on Steve Bannon's show and bragged about the disruption. They're trying to destroy public education. And I would not be surprised to see

Thousands of people could be displaced long term. That's what the fema director told CNN, and now the national hurricane center says Ian, no tropical storm, could return to hurricane status later today. Before it makes landfall in South Carolina, a second time. More on that in a second, because in Florida, inland cities are preparing for new flooding. There's governor Ron DeSantis today. This storm is having broad impacts across the state and some of the flooding you're going to see in areas hundreds of miles from where this made landfall are going to set records. And that's going to obviously be. Jamie Carson is communications director for Sarasota county. "This is an inexact science. Of course, subject to change, but they're now forecasting it to strike land. Basically at the Charlotte Sarasota county border. That's Florida governor Ron DeSantis saying forecasters have narrowed the expected landfall zone, but again, he's speaking principally of the area around Tampa, St. Petersburg, Florida, on the west central coast of Florida. After that, northward, apparently probably into Georgia and the Carolinas, and we're still a bit early to narrow that down much further. Hurricane Ian has the potential to be a pretty serious storm. One 8 6 6 5 O Jimbo is our number one 8 6 6 5 O 5 four 6 two 6 with Mark Herrera, who works with seeing that there's adequate infrastructure for preparation for a storm such as this and as we take some calls mark the word adequate. You just really don't know. Again, when mother nature takes its toll, the best preparation obviously evacuate. That's the best way. But when you're talking about hitting one of these massive venues or facilities or a shelter, there's no guarantee that that in itself is really going to be adequate. So please listen to people who are telling you what to do for your own safety. Take it from somebody who has been there. And luckily enough survived it. Thanks, Jim. Thank you. How Farmers and Ranchers Keep Animals Safe During Hurricanes
"When a hurricane approaches everyone should act to protect themselves but farmers and ranchers have to keep their animals safe to. Folks are learning more and more how to prepare for those disasters. Sarah. Bostick is an agricultural extension agent in Sarasota, county Florida she says beef cattle, for example, tend to be resilient. So as long as they're in an area that won't flood, they are often safer outside then in a barn, which could collapse during the storm with high winds. The best thing that you can do for your beef cattle is actually just to make sure they're in a pasture that is not near major road and doesn't have any power lines running through it. But. Horses require a different approach. Boston says they're pastors are often close to buildings and power lines and they frighten easily horses tend to be the animals that suffer the most when we have a storm that comes through they have major flight response. So when possible many owners choose to evacuate their horses and others mark them with contact information. In case they run away people use things like oil based paint to paint their phone numbers directly onto the side of their horse. So by understanding the unique needs of each species, owners can help protect them.
