Florida congressman Steube injured after falling off ladder
"A Florida congressman has been injured in an accident at home. The office of representative Greg stubby released a statement on Twitter asking for prayers for the Florida congressman and his family, saying he was hurt Wednesday afternoon after being knocked approximately 25 feet down off a ladder while cutting tree limbs on his Sarasota property, an update thanked medical personnel and specified that stubby was in good spirits and spent the night in the ICU with serious but not life threatening injuries, the office also credited an individual who witnessed the fall and called 9-1-1, and Sarasota county's emergency services. The third term Republican represents Sarasota and Charlotte counties and part of Lee county in southwest Florida, and was recently selected to serve on the House ways and means committee. And my point is it's just something I think we need to be paying attention to because it's happening all over all over the country. They fired a conservative Republican that was doing a fantastic job because little Billy had to wear a mask to school. So yeah, so it's just something that I wanted to bring to people's attention because that's how I mean, they go on Steve Bannon's show and bragged about the disruption. Airplane crash in Gulf of Mexico leaves 2 dead, 1 missing
"Two people are confirmed dead and authorities are searching for a third person after a private plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico off the Florida coast. Thousands of people could be displaced long term. That's what the fema director told CNN, and now the national hurricane center says Ian, no tropical storm, could return to hurricane status later today. Before it makes landfall in South Carolina, a second time. More on that in a second, because in Florida, inland cities are preparing for new flooding. There's governor Ron DeSantis today. This storm is having broad impacts across the state and some of the flooding you're going to see in areas hundreds of miles from where this made landfall are going to set records. That's in west Central Florida on the West Coast where Ian first hit we're hearing from the governor there that there's going to be flooding inland that we haven't even seen yet, but Jamie talk about where you are, the beautiful city of Sarasota that old architecture, what are you seeing? Hi, rod and so I would love to talk about the beautiful architecture our world renowned beaches, but right now our community in varying degrees has been hit catastrophically by hurricane Ian. Our county spans 725 square miles. With 30 of those being coastal, you're just listening to the governor, talk about imminent flooding. Momentarily, we are in the process of sending out emergency notifications regarding imminent flooding for our communities. So while hurricane Ian has passed the dangers continue, so we're balancing the emergency actions necessary right now, but also trying to start the recovery process. Well, how about that? "This is an inexact science. Of course, subject to change, but they're now forecasting it to strike land. Basically at the Charlotte Sarasota county border. That's Florida governor Ron DeSantis saying forecasters have narrowed the expected landfall zone, but again, he's speaking principally of the area around Tampa, St. Petersburg, Florida, on the west central coast of Florida. After that, northward, apparently probably into Georgia and the Carolinas, and we're still a bit early to narrow that down much further. Hurricane Ian has the potential to be a pretty serious storm. One 8 6 6 5 O Jimbo is our number one 8 6 6 5 O 5 four 6 two 6 with Mark Herrera, who works with seeing that there's adequate infrastructure for preparation for a storm such as this and as we take some calls mark the word adequate. I mean, there are any number of things that may look like. Okay, we could make that into a shelter, but further examination indicates that it might not be a very good shelter, correct? Correct. You just really don't know. Again, when mother nature takes its toll, the best preparation obviously evacuate. That's the best way. But when you're talking about hitting one of these massive venues or facilities or a shelter, there's no guarantee that that in itself is really going to be adequate. You can equip that to manage and house people for a little bit, right? But again, is it truly adequate and who knows if something rather than nothing, right?
