Los Angeles Deputy Saved Partner's Life After Ambush Shooting While Injured

"Tonight. We're learning new details about the shooting ambush that left to Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies severely wounded. Let's bring. Sarah, she's on the scene for a Sarah one of the deputies actually saved your partners life while she was bleeding from face wound. Tell us what happened. It was absolutely incredible. Both of the deputies are still alive partly because of the reaction by thirty one year old mother of a six-year-old, both deputies still here in critical but stable condition. And incredible show of bravery, a thirty, one year old La, a sheriff's deputy profusely bleeding from a bullet to the face is seen helping save her twenty four year old partner. She applies a tourniquet to his bloodied arm and helps him move behind a pillar to avoid taking on more fire. Both have already been shot multiple times. Surveillance video shows the ambush a shooter fires into. Their car while they sit in their vehicle outside a stop and calm ten female deputy after getting shot both of them four five times her with a broken jaw in the face stepped out gave a tourniquet to her fellow deputy who had been shot in the head is well, probably saved his life while calling for help she and her partner had just become deputies fourteen months ago. I'll pointer the mother of a six-year-old is seen here. She proudly graduated from the Police Academy and Twenty One thousand nine hundred as they are recovering from their injuries at the hospital a callous call for their death by a gathering of about I people outside the hospital. The leader of the group that calls itself L. as Africa town coalition says he hopes the shooting is in retaliation for the shooting of black and Brown people by the. The most recent shooting sparked protests in Compton when deputies shot Dijon, Kizzie for an alleged bicycle. The family says Kizzie was shot in the back and investigation is still underway visit star of retribution. Very. Good start. The Ell ast has faced serious controversy over the years. It's sheriff convicted of lying in twenty sixteen was fired and jailed. There has also been a lawsuit brought accusing deputies of forming a gang inside the department. The most recent accusation and a complaint by a deputy whistle blower said in a deposition deputies formed a gang called the executioners incompetent. He says, they supported the same tattoos and used excessive force on suspects me being a field training officer. Supervisor and I have to. report this this behavior, this sheriff Deputies Union responded to those claims, the accusations of there being criminal gangs within the sheriff's department. That's ridiculous. But Union Representative Hernandez and some longtime content residents say the idea of retaliation like this is sickening to the to the people the group that came out here and and screamed we hope you die that in itself is also pathetic maybe not. As bad as the guy that actually pulled the trigger, but it's just as bad. We don't want those police officers to die. You know we don't want that. That's a tragedy and our prayers go out for those officers and their families. Yes. As the issue you know we, we believe that there should be some kind of reform police department. You know what to make it better for everybody.

We're about to show you in a moment. There's a warning that it is disturbing. Sarah. Ner. Is Out Front. This is the moment to Los Angeles County. Sheriff's deputies are ambushed. The shooter walks up to their parked squad car and Fires Multiple Times. Both are hit at point blank range outside of metro station in Compton. act. the two deputies were doing their job minding their own business watching out for the safety of the people on the train and. Seen some just walk up and just start shooting on them it. It pisses me off. A thirty one year, old mother and her twenty four year old partner a rushed to the hospital. Both have only been on the force fourteen months. The Sheriff says both were shot in the head. The female deputy was able to apply attorney came to her partner who was also bleeding from his arm recklessly they both survived. Outside the hospital, a small practice of just five people are so appears screaming at police. When says he hopes for the death of the deputies? iphone. The protester holding the phone identifies himself as a member of La's African town coalition a group not nationally known before he set out, he took to facebook I've been depressed, but this right here lightens my heart right because you know share department has murdered too many of our brothers and sisters matter of fact, law enforcement throughout the country has murdered too many of our brothers and says, this is the start of retribution. Then I think this is a very good. Starr's office the Mayor of Los Angeles. Reacting Strongly to his palace comments there's no place in civilized. Society for anybody to draw arm to shoot our law enforcement officers that put their lives on the line and I won't ever let a couple of voices that not only are uncalled for but it's important to say something like that both president trump and democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden weighing in on the shooting trump express his outrage to supporters in Nevada on Sunday you. So video of that animal that went up to the car did everybody see that There's animal this animal goes up to the car to unsuspecting fine people there was fine people. I mean they're in very grave condition as you know, Biden responded with this statement acts of lawlessness and violence directed against police officers are unacceptable outrageous and entirely counterproductive to the pursuit of greater peace and justice in America as are the actions of those who cheer such attacks on those who perpetrate these crimes must be brought to justice and if convicted face the full brunt of the law. And we spoke to a member of the community here who's lived here his whole life and he said as as a black business owner here he says, he absolutely is disgusted with hearing people say they hope that the deputies die he says absolutely no in this community truly believes that and they are praying for the deputies as for what is happening. But they are still in a major manhunt scenario looking for the person responsible for shooting these two deputies have they have just now up to the reward from one hundred, thousand to one, hundred, seventy, five, thousand to anyone with information that leads to an arrest. Biden Pledges To Dismantle Trump's Sweeping Immigration Changes — But Can He Do That?

"Joe Biden has pledged if he becomes president to dismantle the sweeping changes that President Trump has made to the US immigration system but could buy Don't do that. As NPR's John Burnett reports. It's easier said than done. People most closely watching to see if Biden defeats Trump and reverses. His immigration crackdown may be beyond our borders. Some 700 migrants languish in filthy tents pitched in a public park amid mud. Maps and clouds of mosquitoes. The encampment is in Matamoros, just across the Rio Grande from Brownsville, Texas. They're seeking asylum in the U. S. But stuck here under a Trump initiative known as remain in Mexico while they wait there closely following US presidential race, says Carlo Garcia, an asylum seeker from Honduras. They buy the place our hope in Joe Biden, who's the Democratic nominee because he would shoot the immigrants very differently than Trump has. We hope he will. And change is all of this Trump has created. This is discrimination and racism. Trump is touting that program's success here He is at a rally in Yuma, Arizona. Last tough. We don't want him here. We want him outside. We got sued all over the place. There. We won. So now they don't come into the United States taken Wait out. While the president claims to have restored a broken immigration system, human rights advocates are appalled that what they call the cruelty of his policies. Oh, Marge. Odd. Watt is director of the L Use Immigrants rights project. What the administration has sought to do is to simply turn off immigration and to do it unilaterally. By presidential edict without the approval of Congress. That project should be reversed. And that's exactly what Joe Biden pledges to do. His position paper on Immigration 51 bullet points over 22 pages seeks to roll back Trump's accomplishments and reenact Obama era policies. If I'm elected president, we're going to immediately and Trump's sold on dignity. Immigrant communities restore our moral state in the world are our historic rolls a safe haven for refugees and asylum seekers. Biden says no more border wall no more separating immigrant families, no more prolonged detentions or deportations of peaceable migrant workers. He would restore the asylum system and create a roadmap to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. It's a long to do list. I don't think it's realistic that Biden in four years could enroll everything that trump dead. Sarah Pierce and another analyst that the Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan thinktank recently catalog more than 400 executive actions Trump has taken on immigration. From heavier border and interior enforcement to restricting asylum to slashing refugee visas to creating remain in Mexico because of the intense volume and pace of change is the Trump administration enacted while in office. Even if we have a new administration, Trump will continue. Tio have had an impact on immigration for years to come. But Biden faces a host of obstacles that could slow his immigration counter revolution. First, there's the specter of renewed chaos at the southern border last year groups as large as 1000 Central Americans at a time. We're waiting across the Rio Grande into El Paso to request asylum. The Border Patrol was overwhelmed and ended up detaining families in primitive, unsanitary conditions. And no one wants a repeat of that. Ron Vitello, former deputy commissioner of customs and Border protection, worries that Biden will cancel bilateral agreements with Mexico that have dramatically slowed the migrant flow right now decided that they weren't going to continue to help us. You know, people would start coming through like we saw the caravans two springs ago. There's no reason that it wouldn't come back as fast as it Wass. NPR asked a senior advisor to the Biden campaign. What would happen if the new president gave migrants of Green light? The adviser said. They're cognizant of the pull factor. Then there's the issue of the enforcers. Immigration agents have enjoyed extraordinary support from the White House, the Trump administration has bragged about unshackling them to let them do their jobs more aggressively. What happens if Joe Biden tries to put the shackles back on? That isn't something that the lights which you can't change culture within an organization that best overnight. Angela Kelly is a senior advisor to the American Immigration Lawyers Association. So I agree that it's going to be a long long road. A Biden presidency would also find itself skirmishing with conservative lawyers over its reversals. The way Trump has been tied up in federal court fighting the R. J. Hamann is with the Federation for American Immigration Reform. If Biden is elected, and his administration starts rescinding executive actions that Trump had firm legal authority to Dio groups like us will sue. That is a fact. Finally, there's the Pandemic and NPR Ipsos poll showed a majority of Americans support Trump's decision to shut the borders to all types of immigrants to stop the spread of the Corona virus. Biden has not said if he would reverse that order. So it's anybody's guess when the virus will subside and the nation can welcome immigrants again. John Burnett NPR news

When it comes to medical misinformation, that term is actually really knew what we're used to as snake oil quackery, the waves of misinformation misleading content conspiracy content. It's really everywhere in a way that's really shocking. ABC's technology reporter investigative journalist Ariel Bogle joins us. Now she's been tracking the spread of health information since this pandemic began some of its mono-, some of it easy flat out dangerous and aerial imagine the spink kind of like wrestling with the arms of an octopus. It's really out there. I've seen dodgy posts and videos about carbon nineteen everywhere, and when we put a call out on ABC News website for examples. We received hundreds of tips and that's we're investigating here in click sick this a three part series on where health misinformation comes from, and it's impacting our lives. We're going to start with a single social media post then aerial and the team going digging and found what's out. There is really confusing papal testing their relationships including this woman. We'll call her lucy she lives a life on the move. Yeah Gypsy had. For more than two years Lucy's been travelling around Australia with a small dog picks the angel in a Pink Caravan. I couldn't afford to rent a house at any of the places places near where my children live, which ones album winds up in Byron Bay. So then I was like our will all to stick to being in the caravan and and that way I can float between my children but early in the pandemic in Queensland and interstate travel bans kept her apart from the son and daughter. So when restrictions as FA- caravan parks in Victoria I really wanted to just come and see my son that was that was migraine lot and I just bugged out acquaintance. When she arrived in Melbourne, she heads straight for his sons share house. There's been a dramatic escalation in the efforts to control a spiking corona virus cases in. Victoria in Melbourne. Getting grim as the number of covid nineteen cases, Russula, large parts of Melbourne now in danger of being put into lockdown. So I, only really got to see my son. A COUPLE OF TIMES BECAUSE? I want it to be careful because I didn't know you know how well they were self-isolating and protecting themselves. Busey was more worried than most about being infected with the coronavirus as you're going to hear Ya when Melbourne look like it was heading for a second wave of covid nineteen she bio just before the city went into second lockdown she was staying in a caravan park in country Victoria when she got some bad news on he got really sick really really sick about a week after I left Melbourne a son was on the fine couldn't get out of bed aching alive. You know coughing and I was really nervous I was like honey I really think you should get tested. It wasn't clear what it was, but his son saying it's probably not covid earned. It's probably just a bad flu and I was like, yeah. But for my sake, just to reassure your Mama I'd really appreciate it. If you go get tested because if you get tested and it's negative than I, know at least I'm okay and then he said something that really took her by surprise his words on the phone were I've been on the Victorian government website and the coronavirus testing is boosted. Lucy was really worried about him, but she was also especially worried for Oregon Health I've got to autoimmune diseases and the worst being rheumatoid arthritis, which affects all the joints causes stiffness and sometimes I can't walk. So Lucy takes powerful medication, which also suppresses her immune system's ability to protect itself from infections. My immune system does not function well. Well doesn't really function at all. But I do tend to pick out coughs and colds and sniffles sore throats if I just around people. I live as a total recluse on my iron but that's what I have to do to to stay healthy. And this means contain is a big threat to. Lucy. So at this point, lucy son was feeling really sick and they was a risk he might have covid nineteen though it seems he wasn't eager to take testify doubt. It's important to say that Lucy son didn't want to be part of the story. Sorry. These impressions only. But this was a time when Victorian health authorities wanted everyone even with modest symptoms to get tested to help contain the pandemic Lucy didn't know what to do so I said well. What makes you think that it's crap and he said, well, I've been reading on the government website and it says the tests that they give you. Is just the test corona viruses in general, not specific to. Sarah's To the one that causes covid nineteen then her sunset Lucy a screen shot of a website he'd seen on facebook and it was from CDC Dot Gov Had the link at the top and pretty said what he'd said. But it had like highlights across the words and a big Red Maka pen round

Energy Healing for Food Issues and Body Image Recovery with Sarah Speers

"Sarah Welcome to the show. Thanks so much for coming on. Could you talk about to kind of introduce yourself to listeners a little bit to start what were the biggest influences on your relationship with food and your body growing up Ooh I, love that question and thank you for having me. It's really interesting when I reflect on my relationship with soon, grind up I didn't think I had a lot of. Unhealthy eating. Messages I thought my family was relatively healthy. I thought I had a healthy relationship with food. In hindsight looking back I can see the the seeds of sort of unhealthy relationships creeping and mainly I would always eat sugar to self soothe as a kid and we used to have these nightly routines of always eating ice cream after dinner or using food as a reward, those sorts of situations which as an adult. Started to really come into fact in terms of my unhealthy eating habits and so as a child when I had this super active and I had a very high metabolism, it didn't appear to be an issue and then later in life I was able to see. Oh Wow, I really became attached to food and certain foods specifically became sort of my emotional crutch that I use as my wages Osu their self matic later in adulthood. Thank you for sharing that I. Love How you said. You know where you're talking about when people are kids if they're like just naturally in smaller bodies, it's like I love how you said it didn't matter that I was eating sugar like it didn't appear to matter. Right. So that's actually something that I run into a lot of the time when I coach kids for swimming and not something that I ran into growing up there people will be like, Oh you're swimmer it doesn't matter what you eat and the sense of. You can't see any changes on this people's bodies because they're teenagers and have insane metabolism's and also happened to have smaller body genetics I. Think it's so important to talk about that distinction. Yeah, and if I can also add that in terms of the body messages. Growing up because I was. So skinny might nickname literally on my sports teams or people my life would call me twiggy string bean and a my identity came really attached to having to be skinny to feel like I was valued or. Was Getting approval from people. So again and as an adult, you know sometimes we think your weight issues are just if you're overweight but for me, there is always this angst around I have to stay skinny because that's my identity in that's where my word comes from and so I didn't think I had. People affecting my body image growing up either I thought I had a lot of love for the people around me but even these seemingly harmless messages or fun nicknames were actually really shaping my identity to my body. Yes. So how did you go from that from kind of struggling with your relationship with food and with your body as a teen and maybe until like early twenties to transitioning to work with women on food freedom and specifically through energy work? Yeah. Will my story really took a turn it might twenty. So I would say most of my childhood teens and even young. Adult I felt like I had an okay relationship with food. But in my twenties I started to develop really severe eating disorder bulimia. Yeah and that happened because I started to go on a diet and I thought I wanna be really healthy and I wanted to see if I, can you know shed a few extra pounds and and that turned into a very obsessive? Counting calories coming up with really strict food roles and as a result, I just wasn't nursing my body and I was getting anxiety around what to eat and and it leads you very severe been gene and then bingeing purging I got stuck in that vicious cycle and suddenly I felt like. Oh. My Gosh how is life? Like you know the Pitney came one day when I was over the toilet that Oh, my God, this is not normal or healthy ns somehow become minority and so that became a struggle for six years. Once I got pulled into that I just was struggling so hard to get out and it controlled my life and it became my mission to heal my Sol's. So that I could then help other women because I did not want another woman to ever have to go through the agony and the like the torture that I was living in in my mind in just my reality, it was consumed and I lost myself to it and I was determined to get myself back if not better and then do everything in my power to help woman y'all. So that kind of started my like. My determination to figure this out and I was determined to try any in everything to to get better and so for a long time I, sort of was always turning to food. Let me try and control food. Let me use little power in. That will be my way to get over this like I'm just going to be perfect tomorrow. And that Kinda like I tried that over and over again and not just never worked right. The answer was not controlling food, and so I started to them look outside of that at other healing modalities. And I just got desperate inserted China everything in eventually stumbled Pon emotional freedom technique also noticed tapping and things like ricky and emotion code, and all these different energy healing modalities and Literally within a matter, six months pretty much all of my quote unquote symptoms seemingly disappeared like I just felt whole and complete again I felt like myself again, I felt empowered in normal again and it wasn't a fight or struggle. It just seems like as I got it through issue and really started to uncover all of these repressed emotions in the subconscious programming and these wounds. I didn't even know I was carrying. That were leading me to say stock in these unhealthy habits. Omega, it was like a radical shift, and so that is what made me then realized I need to get this massive these modalities out to as many women as I can because it may not be the one thing that's going to help but it is certainly missing piece in the equation and I think a lot of times we don't look at these other modalities that can be so powerful in conjunction with like proper nutrition or you know a good mindset etcetera. Yeah we're therapy exactly anything like that. Exactly.

"How can fast unique be used as a tool for somebody? Let's say somebody has a family history of cancer like I have a family history of cancer and I actually had developed skin cancer as well so at a twenty eight, and this is one of the motivating factors for me. To cut my body into a state of Cato's utilizes Metabolic Approach Ryan I. I actually had found Dr Thomas AIDS weren't in two thousand eleven. And Start applying that had great results myself personally. And so now I just apply it number one to prevent disease but also actually number two talk to thrive right I personally thrive utilizing this sort of fasting lifestyle, asking ketogenic style, light style and He's out there naval salmon history of cancer. How could they apply fasting? And how could that help prevent cancer? You John have liquid. You are just completely new to this, and you're still pretty attached to the standard American diet you know and you. You don't know really what your labs. What your overall health is I, I really strongly recommend you. Get someone on your team to make sure you are safe to do something like this to embark on something like the so a chiropractic physician ASIAPAC. Position in medicine practitioner, a nutritionist, a functional therapeutic nutritionists, not anarchy nutritionist. I'm sorry bet you'd have to qualify. I've got a lot of already recovery. "And what each can't do mostly what women if they do it. They get painted as more villainous than men if they do it and I don't know I thought it was great. This is one of the more moving moments in episode was really moving overall. I agree I think that it's particularly coming off the events of the previous season It absolutely unnecessary thing. Listen like I think of the way. Poverty isn't really has always targeted as either the flirt and and not respected for her very keen strategic mind. I think that that it is absolutely fair and good and necessarily necessary point that Sarah made throughout her speech And I think you know like I've been going back through old survivors. Just because there's no sports it is kind of wild the stuff that was okay. Oh yeah ten. Seasons ago. Lot of what's age. The worst contenders of what has aged the worst. And I think that Sarah speech and everyone else's kind of acknowledgement of evolution and probes acknowledgement of his own kind of a failings as a host. In in this regard I think was really necessary and good. I think her finding the l. out is incredible and I think that in general both in in that moment and when when conversations like that happen on survivor about something that transcends the game something that is to life. When Jeff noted you noted Jeff Acknowledging his own bias and his bias over the course of the show. I think it's a pretty rare thing that survivor is able to do that. Not a lot of other pop. Culture experiences are where you actually do feel like people are having a conversation about something. That's real and that is of course one of the core pillars of the show. That's one of the ideas that's built on. I bought that one of the most effective moments in the entire finale was like three seconds in. It's Jeff talking about what survivor? As and that. That line that he had about the human spirit like that at its essence is what we love about survivor. And that's going to manifest differently player to player season to season viewer. But something like what we got out of out of Sarah in that moment and the response that elicited in her fellow cast mates and Jeff and I think many people watching it was about that. It's about what it means to be a person and go through your life and face the challenges that are either unique to you or universal and when survivor is able to give us something like that it is. It is really powerful and cool. I thought that Sarah's speech was great and that we can also acknowledge that even if often on survivor if there are a duo of players a man and a woman and they're both making strategic moves typically. The male player gets a little bit more credit in the female player. But that in this specific instance. Tony probably played a better game than Sarah. If for the only reason if you look at the two moves that they made without the other one Tony. Has the Sofi boot. Sarah has been boot while I know which those bouches more impressive right so. I think that Tony Beats Sarah at the end. That's fine but we can also look at it and say We've had a run of male winners now. We're at the point where almost two-thirds of survivor winners are men. And there is something about the game. Particularly in recent seasons that may be pushing the scales toward players that are more physically dominant better finding idols and advantages Better at playing very flashy strategic games doing back stabbings blind sidings and stuff and that tends to benefit men over women in this game. You know like something beyond the structure of the game which I'm not totally convinced that there is something structural in terms of the of the actual game that over. Select's male champions. I will say one thing I've noticed in watching back and I don't know how you get. This is a older sensitivity of male players to the possibility of female alliance. Oh my Gosh Preval. There is a paranoia a a a real paranoia that it might be happening and that it's happening and that they're talking. I saw them go over and talking. There's a female alliance we have to snuff it out and I think that that is the thing that I don't know how you fix. And it is a real issue now. Sometimes truly brilliant of female players have been able to flip that and use the specter of this female alliance to their benefit. That is rare and doesn't happen a lot. What does happen. A lot is guys coming in and going there. They're planning against us it's happening. They're going to start doing it. And we need to strike first and to me. That is the more pressing issue and a thing that I just don't understand how you fix. Yeah that's an interesting point and I thought that one of the really really interesting things about not only the substance of what. Sara was saying but how everyone responded to it was at a kind of operated onto planes. At once on the one hand it is it is a testimonial right. The fact that I am a strong woman is something that should be celebrated. I think that you very clearly saw the way that that resonated with just as one example poverty. Even the way that Natalie was conducting her game at the end now of course. This was primarily geared toward eliminating trying to eliminate Tony and making sure that everybody understood that he was going to get the votes that he was the chief threat but also often saying things like I talked to the Girls Today. You know banning together with those players and not making any efforts to hide it. That was part of what the the intent was. I think the other the other plane there is that part. What Sara was saying. Is that it. It shouldn't matter assessment as a player. Assess me as a player. Think about my game and you know again when you think about how survivor reflects something about society. And whether that is a positive thing that we take harden something that forces the the collecting viewing public to look inward and maybe say we need to reflect on something that needs to change and we need to build a little bit more awareness about that was an effective moment in that sense? Reminding everybody whether they're listening to her. Mak- case for her game but also who she is as a person right and I think that's something that everybody can relate to and I did it. I really I really thought it was heartening to hear how everybody responded to that. Everybody you know I think of Sarah. Somebody who I respect in Myron like working with and nobody was like. Oh she's just saying that to try and get The jury on her side to try and do suffer. File Travel Council is trying to get in early. It wasn't strategy. I mean that that stuff was real for her and she. It was good. I think that that was real for her. I don't think those things are mutually exclusive. I thought that Don Ross did a really good job writing about that. In his in his recap free w that there's actually nothing shameful at all about Sarah realizing that she had to start making her case. That's part of. The part of the narrative of her season is like what you were saying before being able to understand and identify. She actually had to start separating from Tony in some way and part of that was talking about the nature of their partnership and how other people perceived it and what the reality was versus. What that perception was. I don't think there's no one but Sarah can know what the balance there wasn't again. I don't think they're mutually exclusive at all. I think something can be completely heartfelt. And what you feel in your in your soul and also can be something that is Germane to how the game is unfolding right. Yes listen. Nothing is more persuasive than something that you really feel safe. Yes exactly so to me. Even if she's consciously making that speech in order to begin building her jury case who the fuck cares that something she actually believes and the and the fact that she did it and chose that moment I think it is not at all a knock on the substance and the emotion behind Gangway Statement? If anything it bolsters her so the way at this ends up playing out is they. Don't split the votes right four votes on Natalie. She wrote Sawn Fan. Everybody plays their idols. Tony all even though he doesn't need to Ben plays his he didn't need to Natalie plays hers and she didn't need to. I guess happens in the opposite order. So there's no votes cast we get basically this de facto. Zero Zero Tie They ended up tie-breaking the vote and putting the votes onto niece which was actually kinda surprised by. Sore thought that Sarah was going to go home. They're Denise Kinda played very quiet game. Got a quiet edit as the first boot finale tends to in kind of a weird way but. I was impressed by her. She made a deep run. What we want to say about denise? I think she played a wonderful kind of below the radar game picture spots obviously made made a huge tribal move shall always use the queen slayer she will always be the Queen slayer for that. I think she's a very dangerous player. That is that is very easy to overlook. Great social game very good at building. Alliances and plays within herself is a dangerous physical competitor and just understands that when to make a move. There are a lot of players that we've seen throughout survivor history. That have kind of low key that never that don't have the instinct to make that Queen slayer move. Amanda is a great one of those who is like to Jeff even noted lack the killer instinct in the moment to really go for it and I think denise is not that Denise while she plays below the below the notice of of the edit Absolutely will go for the jugular when she needs to ensure that this season. Yeah I was thinking about these more often than I expected to this season and somebody who found subtle ways to be highly relevant. I think that she had in many respects. One of the single best moves not only of the Season of survivor. It's IT'S A. It's a legendary moment in survivor history. That's the only she'll always also by the way she's one survivor. Before that's why. She was on the season the first place. That's not a bad one punch and I think another thing that you saw is how much affection other people had for. Denise and people loved her. Yeah I always find that really notable you know who do other people respond to in that sense and I think it whether or not that ends up mattering at the end. You know we had a case in this episode where you could say. It doesn't because I think a lot of people have real affection for Michelle. We're giving her fire tokens care about her as a human being and none of them voted for her. So that's not necessarily the most important thing being well liked but I think that denise has has that that affection from her fellow contestants which I always enjoy seeing denise of every survivor player one of the players who is just so so so comfortable in her own skin and she doesn't need to do anything to prove anything to anybody and I find that really inspiring to watch her play in for her to just know that whatever happens. She is comfortable with herself and how she's going to play. Let's move it along to the next tribal council also. Tony Wins Immunity We go into the final five and this is a weird one because Ben. Gives Sarah the blessing to.

"And you are watching this right now, all I have to say is that this is hard work. I've worked hard for a long time. And it's not about you know. It's not about winning. What it's about. It's not giving up. If you have a dream fight for it. There's a discipline for passion. And it's not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down or your beaten up. It's about how many times you stand up and our brave and you keep on going. Thank you. Dana. Do you think we'll see lady Gaga more movies? Oh, I hope. So I mean that was the revelation of of that movie for me, it was just like this woman can act she can really act not just sort of carry off the performance, but you know, create a real character. I also just have to say about that speech that I was sitting next to my thirteen year old daughter who has been a little monster Gaga fan for as long as I can remember, and she was utterly inspired by that speech. Utterly inspired and moved. She loved it. I love hearing that my guests are Asia Harris manure times Dana Stevens from slate hundred Harris from New York, MAG vulture, and Eric Kohn from anywhere. We are talking about the Oscars are want everybody to pick their favorite moment from last night. And why hunter what do you or your favorite win or something? You were just really thought. Yeah. That's right. That feels good. I'm gonna say anything with Spike Lee was a was a win for all of us. I think he is just has the best reaction faces every everything he does is hilarious. But I appreciate it everything that he said what about for you, Eric what was the part of the show or a a war that was given or a speech that was a real highlight. For you. I'll I'll go off mistakes, and they'll give you a little bit of color from all which is the first party the night right upstairs. The Dolby and followed safely into the back of the room. When he got his Oscar in grave. I mean, just so widespread went beyond the industry people who were sort of ruining his every move to staff the people who were carrying sushi bar and stuff like that. We're applauded. And the other person. What did he win for exactly? And it really puts into context. Talking about. Mattered. I think for a lot of people very much bigger world is out there. But Spike Lee and his visibility. He's much more powerful than the Autry themselves. And that was a nice reminder of that. Oh, that's interesting Dana how about for you. I guess probably the the Bradley Cooper guy. Do it at the piano. And also, the hug that I mentioned also just Spike Lee jumping into Sam Jackson's arms. Those are the moments. I remember I should have out for you. For me. It would have to be Billy Porter's wonderful gallon. I guess on the carpet. It was just gorgeous. And apparently, it was a tribute to the ballroom icon Hector extravaganza. I just thought it was amazing and one other really quick one that I loved is just the fact that spider verse one for best animated because that was so well, deserved speech. They gave about like seeing other seeing representation on screen just meant a lot to me. We actually had those three producers on the writers. And it was so we talked for a long time toward the end. We start getting into the representation got really choked up talking about it. And the joke became like, I'm not crying. I'm not crying. But he just you could just tell that. And this was like three weeks ago that they they really mean it, you know, this idea of this miles Morales character in so many different kinds of people seeing people like them unscreened that they don't usually get to see just can ask a fashion question. We have two minutes left is that to to light weights. I was watching my son couldn't sleep became down. He's ten her Shali came on. And he goes he looks fly. Glasses and a hat. Yes. Yes, statement was so that was that was his fashion moment. What about you Dana? What did you think that's fits into an observation? I had about the fashion just simply that there were more men who were bringing it. I mean, Billy porter obviously with the tuxedo gown. But also, just you know, spike in purple, and you know, there was a little bit more dandyism going on in the men's outfits, and that was fun to see. Oh, yes. Lord. James BOND James in the red velvet, Jason momoa and pink velvet with what appeared to be a scrunchy around his wrist. I love us a matching pink wrenching sevens and -til velvet and being gentleman helping Regina king up aging stress to you. It was beautiful the white dresses beautiful. I think the best dress of the night for me. But there's also lots of pink dresses that that played really well on screen. It felt a little bit old hollywoodish to me that we hadn't seen in a while. I thought people to really glamorous not trying to make a statement. But the glamorous. Yeah. I mean, Glenn Close she dressed in this gold sequin outfit that was like forty pounds. I think oh my gosh. That was like a really nice, look, Sarah. Somebody's out there writing a role for Glenn Close that will get her right now. Now, please. So Eric, I'm I'm asking you the final question, it seems to me, and I'm wondering what it felt like in the room that you know, after the past couple of years, we had Oscar so why should why Oscar so white and last year there was so much time and there'd been Salata heavy stuff around the Oscars. And that this time we were talking the office. It just seemed like a really a celebration of film of deserving actors that it was a maybe lighter or more. Celebrate Tori, spirit wasn't like that in the room. I think it was ultimately a lot of people who are part of the industry is very seriously. Have had a rough go of it because of the representation only because of all the kind of practical issues surrounding the ceremony this year, which all these decisions were reversed in the show. So there wasn't really you know, a series. Of screw up in. That regard. The academy kind of felt like this is supposed to be about who we are. And why we make movies how we can speak to the world as a whole and overall I think the event did that the next year really figuring out what are the movie that really aren't getting Representative the Oscars not just in terms of the different kinds of people that we see in front of the camera, but the different kinds of stories we tell what can be more advanced edgy stories that actually do dominate the Oscar race we saw something like that start to happen with the end of the day with perhaps a smaller than we'd been led on. And that's something that I think you could really tell ruin bit a lot of people are starting to think about it. What is the next step for pushing those kinds of stories through the center Eric owned from India wider wire Harris from the New York Times Dana Stevens from slate and hunter Harris from vulture everybody. "And I think we'll talk about this in the second half of the show. I think pornography in nineteen forty four forty five. Forty six is so much different than pornography in nineteen seventy eight that. That it is much more of a big deal, and you couldn't just walk into a liquor store and look at the rack that's behind the cardboard divider kind of thing. So yes, I'll take one of those one of those one of those. So it's a big deal that this is what he's doing here. And so I love the Sima Joe Brody. The reason why I was talking about the chauffeur and the chauffeur's death being questionable. And all that is that when you watch the scene with Joe Brody, and especially if you read the Sima, Joe Brody Marla just keeps hammering at him and just keeps going at it. And every time he tries a new approach Brody changes his story, and he gives him a little bit more a little bit more a little bit more. And I think if he had had five more minutes with Brody than Brody would have admitted that he had killed Ellen Taylor. The chauffeur of the stern woods rather than where he leaves it. Because when he leaves it he gets. Up answers the door and get shot by Carol Lundgren. But you know, he was there like basically saying I left this guy black jacked in the hills. And then I walked away, and he was fine. When I left them make any sense whatsoever. So I think you know, one more round of questioning and he would have folded like a deck of cards. I'm amused by the Hammy -ness of how Joe Brody keeps evading Marlow stare every time Marlow was questioning him. He keeps it's not like he can't just like look at the floor as answering questions. No. He has a shit is higher body in one direction, and then the other and Bogart the actors just following his body throughout the whole interrogation scene. Cut a woods to up the intensity over his world that the physicality reflecting the evasiveness really does cut a witness. I was just looking at a review this film, which to go to different tangent from mostly crawl the did review this Monday for. Eighty five where though talking about coal, and who roll this film and crevices McColl is a Diner's Lookie female, but she hasn't learned to act yet. Critics hated book hall, and the thing is to the held hoax hated Boga because he said he was the most selective a wooded with end. He was married to insult moon. So the in spite of that film done, but there really was minimal most of the I never would have thought that I think it was Andrew Sarah somebody like that who quoted that. I mean, I believe it. But I never would have thought that just because he gives such a fine performance in this film is so well-directed that usually that kind of tension ends up coming through somehow. But I mean, or I'm used to very public fights of the last I don't know thirty years where you hear about the stuff going on. Maybe they actually managed to keep a little bit. More quiet. Keep it on the DL. Or the q t as were this is a quite essential Howard hawks lick to Howard hawks loves dialogue. He loves strong characters playing off each other it gets lumped in to the whole film to our thing. But a lot of the film takes place in light there, very fief scenes that are actually at nights or it's an evening time doors and like right locations like a nightclub and casino and stuff like that. And I that's the one thing. I also kind of struck me watching this recently for the for the podcast was well, this is a very bright. You're yet compare it especially versus murder my sweet where I mean, the the first five minutes of murder, my sweet as a study in war. And then you watch this near just like an early seeing those deep shadows..

"To the Sean Hannity show at the bar with my buddy. And they were all the bar, and I was like a dance floor and as I walked over by the front door the bar. All of a sudden, I heard shooting to my left, and I looked over and he was cheering. People and then in toward the crowd. I was in. So I immediately ducked down and start running toward wall and jumped over it onto some tables. He was black. And he was. Know all I know is when he pointed the gun at me, I was out of their scourge shooting up in my direction, I could hear the whistling over my head. So I ducked down behind some chairs and tables. It was just aimless shooting in any direction, and he pointed and just started shooting at the crowd that I was in. He was just trying to. Tyler Spady describing the horror that took place thirteen now dead, and I found out a very good friend of mine, Adam Housley been friends for a long time. He just recently left the Fox News channel. But one of our best reporters, they all great. But he's one of the best and. Him and his wife they had their they lost their eighteen year old niece and the shooting. I talked to him and texting with him earlier in the day. And it just came over the reports we just saw being reported that in fact, if he is confirmed, it's apparently many many prayers every time this happens. You you've got to remember something. These are these families are devastated devastated. I know there's politics, I know people often raise the two one answer and the answer will take away the guns. I think evil comes from the heart of some sick ugly. Twisted individual has nothing to do with politics. We've seen lunatics on the left little ticks that consider themselves on the right? It doesn't matter evil's evil. And the one thing that they have in common is they have no respect for human life at all. I don't know. What causes it? I'm not a doctor. I can't psycho analyze it. Why? No people's lives are devastated. I don't I've taken a position that I would. I'd love to see we're tired policemen. Armed retired military armed around the perimeters. It'd be undercover in on every floor of every school says ways that you could do it inexpensively. Just let them in law pay any taxes, for example. You work fifteen hours a week donate your time, and we'll let you get off tax free for those retired military, retired police retired law enforcement guys, the guys that spent their whole lives protecting people out of better would be a lot of these guys honor to help out and you're gonna say, well, we can't have him. Well, we we can have them in a lot of places, but it's not a debate to me it just keep people safe from evil people. Good people say from evil people. You know, it's interesting now to the credit of some in the media after this incident. Happen. I know everyone in the White House. Everyone's supposed to be upset. Jim mukasa? Jim Acosta was rude. Over the top out of control didn't want to ask the president a question. He wanted a debate the president. That's not what his role is. He is a hardcore left winger people. See he's a gender driven. Obviously he likes the confrontation. 'cause then it gets him back on TV CNN gets the play the victim of the bad old president. But the reality is I remember saying this during the Obama years that I the hardest interview. I would ever do is if I had to interview Barack Obama now I did ask him. Request interviews. I never got him which is fine. And I never got a single interview. But it would be the hardest interview. I'd have to do because I just think you have to be respectful of the office of the presidency. We just have to do it that doesn't mean. You can't interrupt. You can't push. You can't ask tough questions. You can't do follow ups. This is a very fine line though. In terms of trying to get in the second question third question, you know, and then just outright being mean? And debating when the president says sit down four times, it's time to sit down. And you know, what I know Obama would doing any interview with me would be frustrating again, they'd give me a finite period of time. Say was ten fifteen minutes. I'd get three questions at then he'd filibuster. And if I try to interrupt you. So let me finish. And it's the president. What are you gonna do? It's hard. It's a pundit. If it's a political figure it's fair game. So different story. You know, I just think it's gotta show respect. So we lost his credentials. So I guess that's what the media is all up in arms about it. But they're tone in conduct has been especially in the lead up to the election. I don't think there's an adjective negative adjective from racist sexist. I mean that has not been leveled almost on a hourly basis and more, and they're frustrated which is why they barely talk about it. Now, they're onto Jeff Sessions is fired a crisis. So the media in the lead up to all this. You couldn't say the word mob on fake news CNN couldn't say it. But there were mob surrounding all of these people in restaurants. And I kept saying this is not going to end. Well, Sarah's somebody's gonna get hurt or worse. I set at how many times. Sarah sanders. Enter family kicked on one restaurant to secretary Nielsen has the leaves. She can't eat her meal. Ted Cruz same thing. Pam bondi? Same thing. A boulder is thrown through Kevin McCarthy's office window. Then we have Mitch McConnell guide. Banging on his table is sitting there with his wife having a bite to eat leave the guy alone. Takes off the table. Throws it out the restaurant door and start screaming at him. We've seen these lunatics that wanna go viral. You know, they catch a famous person. They don't like in the streets. The stick in the cameras right in your grill. Somebody's going to defend themselves. If they feel threatened at some point, then they're to want to sue have you defend yourself. So it's a fine line for the people that are being followed. But somebody's going to be hurt. Now, we have Tucker Carlson. You know, and I talked to him at length last night. It's been very hard for him and his family. He doesn't have any property. So to speak of he lives in Washington DC, north won't say where obviously, but he lives in Washington DC. Did not like you're buying an acre a two row housing is what poor wife the Washington Post reporting. You've been in the kitchen trying to get ready for dinner. She heard a pounding on the front door and all these people out there screaming, and they actually cracked the front door. His wife thinks it's a home invasion has to call nine one one. Thank god. None of the kids were home at the time. All it is is a protest, according to the Washington Post. They describe it as a now deleted social media posts shared by smash racism DC, a local quote, anti-fascist organization, really. Members have been tied up with other demonstrators prominent Republican groups, it's cetera et cetera. Wanna go after if you don't agree with Tucker Carlson. So what? When I ran into Senator Blumenthal of Connecticut during the hearings, I said, hi. I didn't like a thing. He says her done door did. Now, we have gateway pundit also reporting on getting it to our guests here. I don't have my screener ups. I have no idea who it is. But my, you know, now DC antiga, according to the gateway pundit is doing what's called doc seeing and that's publishing the home addresses of Tucker Coulter people like me and others, and what they're saying is, well, we'll Loppy naming the account or linking to blah, blah, blah. Blah is account is over three thousand followers, the docks of right wing media figures was posted along with the message asserting the politics affects people's lives. They're demanding that the people there harassing stop, promoting racism and fascism. I despise racist racist and fascist and I wouldn't promote them now before Carlson's thing, the leftist mob showed up chanting. Now this time finally people did speak out, but they didn't speak out about all the other incidents before the election. Then it's gotten so bad. Now, we've got MSNBC host, Rachel Maddow. This is a break glass in case of emergency plan. Some nine hundred protests is supposed to take place. What is today today? I don't want to give too much apparently move on dot org. According to some reports as part of all of this calls, what individual guide now, we have, you know, then on top of that number is a losing it people should take to the streets streets as we approach a constitutional crisis, a national emergency take to the streets is Jeff Sessions resigned and was asked to move on. It's happening today. It's no surprise Hileman that idiot that he is to be at thirty thousand feet about this one thing which the president is moving rapidly to shut down the Muller probe president Senate press conference yesterday. He's not doing that. They're break the glass in case of emergency. People are gonna get hurt here. It's not good. By the way, Tyler Spady is with us. We just played witnessed the shooting. Tyler first of all, I'm sorry. Nobody should ever have to go through that and have to witness that. Very close friend of mine. I hear his niece. Eighteen years old was killed in a shooting. Tell us what happened. Well, I'm I'm just in. It's starting to really hit me. I'm just an under disbelief that had happened. We were me and a couple of friends decided to go to borderline that night. While like we usually do on Wednesdays up and going there for two and a half years to really nice area. We never thought that something like this could possibly happen. And. I was just standing by the dance floor and started making my way to my friends, and he started shooting. Did you get a good look at them? I once I did see where he was. I just saw him in all black and once he started shooting into the crowd by turned around and started running. But I I saw that he was an all black and had a pistol. I'm sure it's just surreal. I mean, I know that we all like to think we're gonna do this or that have we ever find ourselves at a position where there's an active shooter. But I just have to believe your first instinct is just to get to a place where you think you're going to be safe, and I don't think any places safe in that environment. Yeah. I just immediately tried to get behind some cover. And then I when I heard that there was nothing. No, no, no more shooting. I thought okay. He must be reloading, and I took off for the door. Yeah. Yeah. Did the people how fast were law enforcement on the scene and how quickly where people able to get help? It must have been within thirty seconds that I heard sirens outside. I'm not quite sure how quickly they were on the scene. But I came out pretty quickly though, the shooter. I believe so I was out of borderline within two minutes of the shooting beginning, and then I was in a neighborhood with a few people that I had follow me with four minutes of it and the cops by that time. We're surrounding the building. I'm so sorry. You went through that on. I just ask everyone just their prayers their thoughts their love to these people that have lost loved ones and suffered horrible injuries twelve people dead thirteen if you include the evil shooter some believable that kind of evil exists. Isn't it Tyler just unbelievable? Oh, it's it's it's sickening. That it exists, but in in this moment of horror there. There's some incredible people that has done the most amazing thing you can do in his lay your life down for a friend and no greater love have a mantle than to lay down his life for another right? Exactly nine eleven describing nine eleven. Everyone's coming down the stairs racing out. And all these other guys doing what is instinctively the wrong thing to do. But they do it for others. And that's go up. The stairs. I understand your father. David is with us. We David hurry. You thank you for joining us. Thank you, Sean. It's you know, a very difficult day for this whole sorry. I'm so sorry. We live in one of the safest communities in in America, according to FBI statistics. So you just don't anticipate something like this happening, and you know, this club where it happened is not a rowdy bar. It's a place where they have underage kids. They're from the colleges, and it's about having a good time doing line, dancing and listening to music, and it's not a place that you know, you would ever dream you you'd get a call. We feel our kids are very safe when they go there, and it's like a country music place. And they they have these clubs like that maybe serve alcohol, but you have to you have to have a special stamp or a special tag or something and the kids that are underage don't get served. Yeah. It's not a dark arts L, let as many of these country, you know, bars and clubs so. Well, that's offer in the whole communities is is in shock. It's it's almost like thanksgiving or Christmas day when you when you go out on the streets here and even to the grocery stores. Everybody's just home the schools have as close for the day. And it's it's just a whole community is grieving and in shock. I know Adam Housley who I've worked with for years. We become particularly close over the years. He's such a good guy and his wife is wonderful. And they lost their niece Elena in the shooting last night. And I just it's so painful. Well, thank you both for giving us a report letting us know evil exists and this guy got what he deserved. But maybe I don't know. Maybe I don't what motivates people to do this assault sorts of sick things that motivate people. Are we got a lot more to get to eight hundred nine four one, Sean if you want to be a.

Twisted individual has nothing to do with politics. We've seen lunatics on the left lunatics that consider themselves on the right? It doesn't matter evil's evil, and the one thing that they have in common is they have no respect for human life at all. I don't know. What causes it? I'm not a doctor. I can't psycho analyze it. All I know. People's lives are devastated. I don't have taken a position that I would. I'd love to see retired policemen. Armed retired military armed around the perimeters. It'd be undercover in on every floor of. Every school says ways that you can do it inexpensively. Just let them in law pay any taxes, for example. You work fifteen hours a week donate your time, and we'll let you get off tax free for those retired military, retired police retired law enforcement guys, the guys that spent their whole lives protecting people out of better would be a lot of these guys honor to help out and you're gonna say, well, we can't have we we can have them in a lot of places. But it's it's not a debate to me it just keep people safe from evil people. Good people say from evil people. You know, it's it's interesting now to the credit of some in the media after this incident. Happen. I know every one of the White House everyone's supposed to be upset. Jim mukasa? Jim Acosta was rude. Over the top out of control didn't want to ask the president a question. He wanted a debate the president. That's not what is role is. He is a hardcore left winger people. See he's a gender driven. Obviously he likes the confrontation because then it gets him back on TV CNN gets to play the victim of the bad old president. But the reality is I remember saying this during the Obama years that I the hardest interview I would ever do as if I had to interview Barack Obama now I did ask him. Request interviews. I never got him which is fine. And I never got a single interview. But it would be the hardest interview. I'd have to do because I just think you have to be respectful of the office of the presidency. You just have to do it that doesn't mean. You can't interrupt. You can't push. You can't ask tough questions. You can't do follow ups. This. This is a very fine line though. In terms of trying to get in the second question third question, you know, and then just outright being mean? And debating when the president says sit down four times, it's time to sit down. And you know, what I know Obama would doing any interview with me would be frustrating again, they'd give me a a finite period of time. Say was ten fifteen minutes. I'd get three questions it. They need filibuster. And if I tried to interrupt you. So let me finish. And it's the president. What are you gonna do? It's hard. It's a pundit. If it's a political figure it's fair game. So different story. You know, I just think it's gotta show respect. So he lost his credentials. So I guess that's what the media's all up in arms about it. But they're tone in conduct has been especially in the lead up to the election. I don't think there's an adjective negative adjective from racist sexist. I mean that has not been leveled almost on a hourly basis and more against this president it's obvious that the media's upset they're angry. They didn't like Tuesday's results and they're frustrated which is why they barely talk about. And now they're onto Jeff Sessions is fired a crisis. So the media in the lead up to all this. You couldn't say the word mob on fake news CNN couldn't say it. But there were mob surrounding all of these people in restaurants. And I kept saying this is not going to end. Well, Sarah's somebody's gonna get hurt or worse. I said at how many times? Sarah sanders. Enter family kicked on one restaurant to secretary Nielsen has the leaves. She can't eat her meal. Ted Cruz same thing. Pam bondi? Same thing. A boulder is thrown through Kevin McCarthy's office window. Then we have Mitch McConnell guy. Banging on his table. He's just sitting there with his wife having a bite to eat leave the guy alone. Takes us food off the table. Throws it out the restaurant door and start screaming at him. We've seen these lunatics that wanna go viral. They catch a famous person. They don't like in the streets, the sticking the cameras right in your grill. Somebody's going to defend themselves. If they feel threatened at some point, then they're going to want to sue if you defend yourself. So it's a fine line for the people that are being followed. But somebody's going to be hurt. Now, we have Tucker Carlson. You know, and I talked to him at length last night. It's been very hard for him and his family. He doesn't have any property. So to speak of he lives in Washington DC north. Well, I won't say where obviously, but he lives in Washington DC is not not like you're buying an acre a two row housing. What poor wife the Washington Post reporting had been in the kitchen trying to get ready for dinner. She heard a pounding on the front door and all these people out there streaming, and they actually cracked the front door his wife thinks it's a home invasion has to call nine one one. Thank god. None of the kids were home at the time. All it is is a protest, according to the Washington Post. They describe it as a now deleted social media posts shared by smash racism DC, a local quote, anti-fascist organization, really. Members have been tied up with other demonstrators prominent Republican groups etcetera etcetera want to go after Trump, you don't agree with Tucker Carlson. So what? When I ran into Senator Blumenthal of Connecticut during the Cavanaugh hearings. I said, hi. I didn't like a thing. He says her done door dead. Now, we have gateway pundit also reporting on getting it to our guests here. I don't have my screener ups. I have no idea who it is. But my, you know, now DC Antigua, according to the gateway pundit is doing what's called doc seeing and that's publishing the home addresses of Tucker Coulter people like me and others, and what they're saying is, well, we'll Loppy naming the account or linking to blah, blah, blah. Blah is account is over three thousand followers, the docks of right wing media figures was posted along with the message asserting that politics affects people's lives. They're demanding that the people there harassing stopped promoting racism and fascism. I despise racist racist and fascist and I wouldn't promote them now or before Carlson's thing, the leftist mob showed up chanting. Now this time finally people did speak up, but they didn't speak out about all the other incidents before the election. Then it's gotten so bad. Now, we've got MSNBC host, Rachel Maddow. This is a break glass in case of emergency plan, some nine hundred protests are supposed to take place. What is today today? I don't want to give too much apparently move on dot org. According to some reports as part of all of this. And a calls what individual guide now, we have, you know, then on top of that number is a losing it people should take to the streets streets as we approach a constitutional crisis, a national emergency take to the streets. Is Jeff Sessions resigned and was asked to move on. It's happening today. It's no surprise Hileman that idiot that he is to be at thirty thousand feet about this one thing, which the president is moving rapidly to shut down the Muller. Pro president said in his press conference yesterday is not doing that. Their break the glass in case of emergency. People are going to get hurt here. It's not good. By the way, Tyler Spady is with us. We just played witnessed the shooting. Tyler first of all, I'm sorry. Nobody should ever have to go through that and have to witness that. A very close friend of mine. I hear his niece. Eighteen years old was killed in a shooting. Tell us what happened. I'm just in. It's starting to really hit me. I'm just an utter disbelief that it happened. I just saw him in all black and once he started shooting into the crowd. I just turned around and started running. But I I saw that he was an all black and had a pistol. I'm sure it's just surreal. I mean, I know that we all like to think we're going to do this or that have we ever find ourselves at a position where there's an active shooter. But I just have to believe your first instinct is just to get to a place where you think you're going to be safe, and I don't think any places safe in that environment. Yeah. I just immediately tried to get behind some cover. And then I when I heard that there was no, no, no, no more shooting. I thought okay. He must be reloading, and I took off for the door. Yeah. Did the people how fast for law enforcement on the scene and how quickly where people able to get help? It must have been within thirty seconds that I heard sirens outside. I'm not quite sure how quickly they were on the scene. But I came out pretty quickly though, the shooter. I believe so I was out of borderline. Within two minutes of the shooting beginning, and then I was in a neighborhood with a few people that I had follow me within four minutes of it and the cops by that time. We're surrounding the building. I'm so sorry. You went through that on. I just ask everyone just their prayers their thoughts their love to these people that have lost loved ones and suffered horrible injuries have twelve people dead thirteen if you include the evil shooter some believable that kind of evil exists. Isn't it Tyler just unbelievable? Oh, it's it's it's sickening. That that it exists. But in in this moment of horror. There's there's some incredible people that have. The most amazing thing you can do this play you're down for a friend and. No, greater love half a mantle than to lay down his life for another right? Exactly nine eleven describing nine eleven everyone's coming down the stairs racing out. And all these other guys doing what is instinctively the wrong thing to do. But they do it for others. And that's go up. The stairs. I understand your father. David is with us. We David hurry. You. Thank you for joining us. Thank you, Sean. It's you know, a very difficult day for this whole so sorry. I'm so sorry. We live in one of the safest communities in in America, according to FBI statistics. So you just don't anticipate something like this happening, and you know, this club where it happened is not a rowdy bar is a place where they have underage kids. Yeah. It's not a dark arts L let as many of these country bars and clubs so. Darker in and the whole communities is is in shock. It's it's almost like thanksgiving or Christmas day when you when you go out on the streets here and even to the grocery stores. Everybody's just home the schools have has closed for the day. And it's it's just a whole community. That's grieving and in shock. I know Adam Housley who worked with for years..

Calls what individual guide now, we have the, you know, then on top of that number Sembene a losing it people should take to the streets streets as we approach a constitutional crisis, a national emergency take to the streets. Jeff Sessions resigned and was asked to move on. It's happening today. It's no surprise Hileman that idiot that he is to be at thirty thousand feet about this one thing, which the president is moving rapidly to shut down the Muller. Pro president said in his press conference yesterday is not doing that. They're break the glass in case of emergency. People are gonna get hurt here. It's not good. By the way, Tyler Spady is with us. We just played witnessed the shooting. Tyler first of all, I'm sorry. Nobody should ever have to go through that and have to witness that. A very close friend of mine. I hear his niece. Eighteen years old was killed in the shooting tells what happened. Well, I'm I'm just in. It's starting to really hit me. I'm just an utter disbelief that had happened. We were me and a couple of friends cited to go to borderline that night. While like we usually do on Wednesdays up going there for two and a half years to really nice area. We never thought that something like this could possibly happen. And. I was just standing by the dance floor and started making my way to my friends, and he started shooting. Did you get a good look at them? I once I did see where he was. I just saw him in all black. And once he started shooting into the crowds that I was by. I just heard around and started running. But I saw that he was an all black and had a pistol. I'm sure it's just surreal. I mean, I I know that we all like to think we're going to do this or that have we ever find ourselves in a position where there's an active shooter. But I just have to believe your first instinct is just to get to a place where you think you're going to be safe, and I don't think any place safe in that environment. Yeah. I just immediately tried to get behind some cover. And then I when I heard that there was nothing. No, no, no more shooting. I thought okay. He must be reloading, and I took off for the door. Yeah. How did the people how fast for law enforcement on the scene and how quickly where people able to get help? It must have been within thirty seconds that I heard sirens outside. I'm not quite sure how quickly they were on the scene. But I was okay. Mouth pretty quickly though. The shooter. I believe so I was out of borderline within two minutes of the shooting beginning, and then I was in a neighborhood with a few people that I had followed me within a four minutes of it and the cops by that time. We're surrounding the building. I'm so sorry. You went through that. And I just ask everyone just their prayers their thoughts their love to these people that have lost loved ones and suffered horrible injuries. We have twelve people dead thirteen if you include the evil shooter some believable that kind of evil exists as an Tyler just unbelievable. Oh, it's it's it's sickening that fists, but in in this moment of horror. There's there's some incredible people that have the most amazing that you can't do this lay your life down for a friend. And I have no greater love half a mantle than to lay down his life for another right? Exactly nine eleven describing nine eleven. Everyone's coming down the stairs racing out. And all these other guys doing what is instinctively the wrong thing to do. But they do it for others. And that's go up. The stairs. I understand your father. David is with us. We David hurry. You thank you for joining us. Thank you, Sean. It's you know, a very difficult day for this whole so sorry. I'm so sorry. We live in one of the safest, you know, communities in in America, according to FBI statistics. So you just don't anticipate something like this happening, and you know, this club where it happened is not a rowdy bar..

"Of saving America, as we return to the Sean Hannity show at the bar with my buddy. And they were all the bar, and I was by the dance floor, and as I walked over by the front door, the bar all of a sudden I heard shooting to my left, and I looked over. And he was. People. And then he started towards the crowd. I was in. So I immediately ducked down and started running towards wall and jumped over it onto some tables. Black and he was. No, no is when he pointed the gun at me, I was out of there. He skirted shooting up in my direction, and I could hear the whistling over my head. So I. Duck down behind some chairs and tables. But he's one of the best and him and his wife they had their they lost their eighteen year old niece and the shooting. I talked to him and texting with him earlier in the day. And it just came over the reports we just saw being reported that in fact, if he is confirmed it apparently, many many prayers every time this happens. You you've got to remember something. These are these families are devastated just have a stated, I know there's politics, I know people often raise the two one answer take away the guns. I think evil comes from the heart of some sick ugly. Twisted individual has nothing to do with. Politics. We've seen lunatics on the left lunatics that consider themselves on the right? It doesn't matter evil's evil. And the one thing the Bhavan communist, they have no respect for human life at all. I don't know. What causes it? I'm not a doctor. I can't psycho analyze it. All I know. People's lives are devastated. I don't have taken a position that I would. I'd love to see retired policemen. Armed retired military armed around the parameters. It'd be undercover in on every floor of every school says ways that you could do it inexpensively. Just let them in law pay any taxes, for example. You work fifteen hours a week. You donate your time. And we'll let you get off tax free for those retired military retired police retired law enforcement guys the guys that spent their whole lives protecting people. They're of better would be a lot of these guys honor to help out and you're gonna say, well, we can't have him. Well, we we can have them in a lot of places. But it's it's not a debate to me it just keep people safe from evil people. Good people say from evil people. You know, it's interesting now to the credit of some in the media after this incident. Happen. I know everyone in the White House. Everyone's supposed to be upset Jim Acosta Jim Acosta was rude. Over the top out of control didn't want to ask the president a question. He wanted a debate the president. That's not what his role is. He is a hardcore left winger people. See he's agenda driven. Obviously he likes the confrontation. 'cause then it gets him back on TV CNN gets play the victim of the bad old president. But the reality is I remember saying this during the Obama years that I the hardest interview. I would ever do is if I had to interview Barack Obama now I did ask him. Request interviews. I never got him which is fine. And I never got a single interview. But it would be the hardest to do because I just think you have to be respectful of the office of the presidency. And you know, what I know Obama would doing any interview with me would be frustrating again, they'd give me a finite period of time say was ten fifteen minutes. I'd get three questions is then need filibuster. If I tried to interrupt you. So let me finish. And it's the president. What are you gonna do? It's hard. It's a pundit. If it's a political figure it's fair game. So different story. You know, I just think it's got to show respect. So we lost his credentials. I set at how many times. Sarah sanders. Enter family kicked non one restaurant to secretary Nielsen has the leaves. She can't eat her meal. Ted Cruz same thing. Pam bondi? Same thing. A boulder is thrown through Kevin McCarthy's office window. Then we have Mitch McConnell guide banging on his table. He's just sitting there with his wife having a bite to eat leave the guy alone. Takes his food off the table. Throws it out the restaurant door and start screaming at him. We've seen these lunatics that wanna go viral. You know, they catch a famous person. They don't like in the streets, the sticking the cameras right in your grill. Somebody's gonna defend themselves. If they feel threatened at some point, then they're gonna wanna sue. If you defend yourself. So it's a fine line for the people that are being followed. But somebody's going to be hurt. Now, we have Tucker Carlson. You know, and I talked to him at length last night. It's been very hard for him and his family. He doesn't have any property. So to speak of he lives in Washington DC, north won't say where obviously, but he lives in Washington DC is not not like you're buying acre a two row housing. His poor wife, the Washington Post reporting had been in the kitchen trying to get ready for dinner. She heard a pounding on the front door and all these people out there screaming, and they actually cracked the front door. His wife thinks it's a home invasion has to call nine one one. Thank god. They describe it as a now deleted social media posts shared by smash racism DC, a local quote, anti-fascist organization, really. Those members have been tied up with other demonstrators prominent Republican groups at cetera et cetera want to go after if you don't agree with Tucker Carlson. So what? When I ran into Senator Blumenthal of Connecticut during the Cavanaugh hearings. I said, hi. Thing he says her done door dead. Now, we have gateway pundit also reporting I'm going to get to our guests here. I don't have my screener ups. I have no idea who it is. "sarah somebody" Discussed on KMJ NOW

"A day for awhile, maybe forever, next chance coming up at three and that'll be the last chance ever. So good luck to you. From the California political review hard veer print 'em talked to him in a while. Steve frank. Wait to hear some of these opinions about what's happened here in California. Steve welcome back to camp. J rey. Always glad to be with you on such an momentous day any surprises for you in the state of California. I wish I could say there were for six months. Now, I've been predicting that the Republicans are going to lose to the Democrats in the state Senate and caused a super majority there that we were going to lose that we're gonna wind up with fifty nine or sixty Democrats in the state assembly that are Republican statewide tickets going to get no more than forty percent of the vote, and we lost three congressman though, I did expect us to four, but we still could because not all the absentee ballots are in right right with this now super super majority. We, you know, we still have a chance who's getting bullied if somebody looks at it that way, and, you know, with the let's take for example, proposition six the repeal of the gas tax in there is this little tiny thing that I think was really, you know, destructive to a lot of us in terms of taxpayers. The the legislature now has the power to. Levy gas taxes whenever they want to. You know, I thought this thing was gonna pass it did lead for a while last night. But it went down and that campaign by the no side that made us all feel guilty about killing kids and Crosswalks because there was no more road safety really paid off didn't Steve and they lied about that because of the gas tax money from SP one which was going to be repealed does not go to streets, perjure, bridges or roads. Instead went to subsidize buses and trains five hundred million a year to the to nowhere, and and to subsidize the declining ridership of buses and trains run by government transportation. It was a disaster. But remember Ray it was financed by the unions and the construction firms that was going to be. Given the bid for the contract for building the true to nowhere. Bridges, and everything it was a payoff. I've always contended that YouTube, Tim, Delaware was just not going to be completed simply because of the lack of financing envision banal this five hundred dollars five hundred million dollars. I guess it's parental. There's a good chance of it being built, maybe. Oh, it's worse than that. There's five hundred from Espy one and starting January first of twenty twenty the cap and trade gives the to know where another four hundred nearly a billion dollars four hundred million dollars a year. And so that's nine hundred million dollars a year from the gas tax, which you thought was going to fix roads and bridges if you believe the ads. The campaign was just. It upset me, you know, just because I mean, it seems like the lies in even local campaigns statewide campaigns. Whether it's, you know, individuals running for office, or whether it's some propositions the truth is just stretched beyond the max. And I don't know if that's ever going to change. I think it's a precedent now. And it's very sad. Steve. It is as you know, I've been involved in politics. It's nineteen sixty and every cycle. I've been involved since then I can tell you. I've never seen a less civil of more lying campaign. The abusive language the abuse of people's backgrounds. This was a disgusting dirty campaign. You would expect to third world country. It was really bad really bad. Some of the other propositions, for example, the one that I got such a kick out of. Although I think it's stupid was the proposition that, you know, people had to vote on to regulate the size of animals, pens, and all of that. And that's just so silly because we're not a forties on that. And I don't know why that was passed off to us. We're gonna eat these animals anyway, why do we keep getting this crap? Well, here's the bigger story. I if you go to the store trader Joes, for instance, I was there yesterday a dollar sixty nine for a dozen eggs at the same time. I went to Stater brothers and they had a sale on range free range eggs at four ninety nine a dozen and starting January first twenty twenty you'll have to buy three range eggs at four ninety nine a dozen rather than one sixty nine is a disaster for the middle class and the poor California. These folks believe in the gentrification a farm animals, and what am the hell is a free range egg. I don't even know if that can be defined, and that's certainly something that can be fudged to a great degree and people are going to be making a lot of extra money. Well, the worst part is as prices go up. You would think that grocery stores, then say, okay, we can't get a cheap eggs from California. We'll go to Arizona and Nevada and Ohio to get eggs from those states, which import X to our state, which you may or may not know and under this saw they will no longer be able to do that unless they have free range eggs. Yeah. Yeah. I was aware of that. And so we're just stuck on that one forever, which is just ridiculous at some of the other props talk to me about any of them. There were really no surprises there. But what were some of the bigger ones with you? Oh, I would disagree with you. Matt raid. The biggest surprise to me was the water bond being heeded. Yeah, absolutely idea. You're right. I could tell you going back to the early sixties to today. I cannot remember a single water bond statewide that had been defeated it just doesn't happen. And in this case, I was just shocked, and it wasn't a very close margin. Either people are beginning to understand at least in regard to water that the state of California wise, we had money to fix your damn from previous bonds. Jerry Brown refused to spend the money. And now we have to now spend over a billion dollars fixing your damn, but we also have to spend over a billion dollars to pay off the property owners that lost property due to the breakdown of the day. I'm wondering when people are going to get wise to this bonded, indebtedness typically vote no on every bond. I'm just done with it because they're so expensive. There are some bonds there that we talked about last night in our election coverage that ultimately the interest is going to be as much as the bond itself. How we ever going to pay for this stuff? Well, the taxes have to go up. Remember the budget that was just passed by by in June by the legislature was two hundred and two billion dollars. But when I say budget, I should qualify that by saying the general fund budget, the actual budget of the state of California when you could all the expenditures is north of two hundred and fifty billion dollars a year and the two hundred two thousand dollars billion dollar budget. There were tax increases, for instance, I will presume that you have a cell phone. Sure. You do know now that your cell phone taxes. Go up on January first you to help pay for all this getting to the governor's race. Governor governor elect Gavin Newsom talking about continuing the great legacy of Jerry Brown, even though he was on my program year and a half ago talking about if he was governor he was going to do high speed rail because he didn't believe in it. And he thought it was ineffective. He certainly has changed his tune on that what kind of a governor. Is he going to be Steve? Well, just take a look at him. He's a he's a used car salesman from Hollywood, he's not truly an honest individual. He's an individual without say anything to get elected as you just reminded us a year and a half ago, he's against it. Now, he is four it who knows where he stands he's for himself at nobody else. The worst part though is a statement he may two weeks ago. He said that were he governor most of the bills that Jerry Brown. Vetoed. He would sign. Yeah. So we're in a really tough time. And let me go back to that two thirds majority in the assembly and Senate what that means when they raise taxes that under a two-thirds majority passage you can't even try to create a prop six because under the law. Referendums cannot be done. If the assembly in state Senate passed the Bill with a two-thirds majority boys and that tyranny, it's best. And I wonder people are leaving. In California in droves talked about that yesterday a hundred thousand left in the last recent dealer in recent year, four hundred thousand cents I think it was two thousand six or something like that. You know, the state has more people moving out than than people are coming in. And those people are coming in or the the takers and not the givers. I mean, the future of this state is for all intents and purposes, I think it's doomed what about you? Oh, I believe the late great state of California. I call it. The notification state I call it the socialist state we are trying to become Venezuela del Norte. That's what California's going to become. That's a little terrifying. Isn't it? A terrifying. But I think it's accurate. Yes, sadly accurate. John cox. He didn't do. Well, obviously, even though he took Fresno county by nine points, which was surprising. Even judge Steven Bailey for the race took Fresno county by five points or have you ever, Sarah? Somebody like John Cox business man, a little different. But does he, you know in your estimate only political future at all? He's lost every darn race. He's been in. No, I've known John for several years. Now, I knew him when he was running for presently United States that I can do that too. I. Interesting guy. He just doesn't have it. But you should analyze the statewide races in a slightly different way. Cox newspaper for secretary of state bail, the others all receive between thirty seven and forty percent of the vote. Cox spent about five or six million dollars. Then the other employees. Spill over a million dollars. And so you know, what the bottom line is. Republican support in the state of California somewhere between thirty seven and forty percent. And that is the big story that comes out of the election. When you do the data analysis talk to me about the huge amount of money that we spent on this campaign, not not only in California, but all over the place. I mean, it was just off the charts. Two weeks before the election. I live in Steve nights district and two weeks before the you watch your Mike Bloomberg gave five million dollars per TV and media edge and get out the vote effort against night in two weeks. Five million dollars was spent at the same time, Bloomberg a four million dollars to defeat data wall under the same conditions, right? Both Rohbock lost their elections and beyond belief the amount of money that was spent in these races. There was one assembly race. Eighteen million dollars Benton. Goes back. But when you have Thomas Dyer, and Michael Bloomberg and the union, and you have all these other billionaires. You have Oprah Winfrey. Race candidates on the country. The raising, of course. Clock on my show. Good. Should pay him to go to work. Visit Dench report more candidates in twenty twenty. But. I've never. And notice Gavin Newton. Steve I gotta take a pause here. You're breaking up really bad. Perhaps we if you don't mind during this commercial break, could you call us back, and we'll see if we can get a little bit better connection with you. If you don't mind.

Path it's the the Yeah the path of totality it's about a seventy mile wild strip across the country and. There are so many people that are travelling as tourists basically to see this? Eclipse, into that seventy seventy mile wide path that a lot of communities, are actually declaring states of emergency people to handle the influx of people why, would why would, it be so because the amount of people coming in. Yeah basically, the there are a lot of small towns in this path and many of, these people are preparing to see their populations double or. Triple or even quadruple and that's gonna put a real strain on local resources you know. It's like it's like when you have a a. Small like a Woodstock concert all of a. Sudden shifts appears in a farm field you know how to how to emergency services handle. That and how to communities handle that and that's kind of what these, communities are, facing that's. It's. "While we're not talking about Hugh Grant in a bookstore trying to woo Julia Roberts. We are instead talking about Dwight Howard, the toxic locker room presence who is onto his fourth team in many years, who is just signed with the Washington Wizards and. And I guess I was a little bit surprised that the wizards who have already struggled with plenty of locker room issues or alleged lock room issues in recent years, why they would want to add a guy who is sometimes labeled a team killer to their to their locker room. But I was like, all right, cool. Whatever. You know, he probably didn't have that many other options, but no, Nick Dwight is telling us that Golden State called any thought about him. But John wall sent him a direct message on Instagram, and he was like, man, I'm going to be a wizard. So instead of going to the team that is the hands down favorite to win a fourth title in five years, he went to the wizards because John wall sent him a direct message. Okay. So if this is actually and you never know what the real truth is on most white stories for this. If this is legit too. I just stupid. Right? If you're passing up the chance to play for one of the very best teams that the league has seen in a long time to go play for the wizards with John wall. Good luck to you, white and look. I on a personal note. I have covered Dwight Howard. I, I was at his his press conference as an intern in Orlando before he even got drafted by the magic. Dwight is just a goofball. He's happy, go lucky most of the time when when things are good, when things aren't good as you noted, he can be a cancer within the locker room and he's just so you know what it is. Dwight Howard is the NBA's Peter Pan. Yup. He's never going to grow up and sadly for Dwight as great as he was when he was healthy. He's not that same player anymore. He had a nice enough year in Charlotte, but he's not any kind of game changer in this moment. And you know everybody, everybody can make jokes, and there are a lot of them to be made around Dwight, but he can't back up anymore. The goofiness that he brought and goofiness is a very nice way to say. Sometimes he is just goofy and sometimes it's toxic. Right. And you mentioned that he doesn't want to grow up. You remember that Baxter home story about the NBA being obsessed with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and that that you know revealed many other things including Dwight Howard addiction to candy, and that he was eating the quivalent of twenty four chocolate bars worth of sugar every day for ten straight years. Of twenty four chocolate bars worth of sugar everyday for ten years as an all star basketball player. He started having tingling in his legs and fingers, and they realized that his grievously high glucose levels were causing him to deal with a condition that affects the nervous system. Talk about a guy who can't grow up, that's like taking it to extremes to a whole new level. I think that's the thing that is so frustrating though. Sarah, somebody who who has watched white from the beginning waste, they've forgotten a lot of people just how dominant he was when he was playing because they're so focused on the the idiocy sometimes that comes out of his mouth or that his actions produce Dwight at his peak was in credible. He was so much fun to watch and now to see what he's become on and off the floor and saying some of this stupid stuff, you just shake your head and you wish you could plug in a videotape or YouTube and let people see just how great he used to be. It's Nick l. filling in for fits. I'm Spain, Spain, and Fitz on ESPN radio the SPN up and Sirius XM channel eighty. We are presented by progressive insurance. Yes, speaking of idiocy that you just mentioned, sports fans are morons, and that's. Fine. I'm one of them. I do moronic things. We all do moronic things in the name of our fandom, but committing a felony. Probably not up there for me. Unlike the gentleman I read about on deadspin he's a finance manager of an Illinois car dealership, and he's been accused of pretending to be a restaurant employee in phone calls with the cable company..
