Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders talks about new memoir and Woodward book
"Sanders is a former White House press secretary. Newly released book is entitled speaking for myself. Faith Freedom. And the fine of our lives Since of the Trump White House. You can fell around Twitter at Sarah. How could be good? Marty said. Good to talk to you. Good morning. Thank you for having me. Yeah. Sarah, tell me what's the one thing you want is to know based on the book about this president that either of supporters and detractors do not know. Well, I think the biggest takeaway there have been a lot of books written about the president and about the Trump Administration and after 2.5 year, spending nearly every single day of those 2.5 years with the president, I wanted people to see the president that I got to know the Donald Trump that gets up every day fighting for our country and that really loves America and wants to see it succeed and be at its very best. And I tried to write stories and moments that highlight that that show a different side of this president, sometimes a softer side, the compassionate and generous side that I had the privilege of seeing every day. There. We had Jonathan Karl on that that long ago here on the farm. I think they believe he had written a book as well. And he talked glowingly about the president out spine of the relationship inside that White House press room, but Is this common with the president and in some of his detractors I think they're certainly always been tension that exists between the press corps in the White House staff and the president specifically, But it has ratcheted up in this administration, the amount of negative attacks and the tension between the press and the White House is higher than it's ever been. But there are certainly I think plenty of good moment to and there are good reporters out there that are trying hard to get good information to the American people. Unfortunately, they're usually overshadowed by the loud Most people in the room her looking to be more of the story, then to report the story and that became too common in this White House and in this presidency. Speaking with Sarah Huckabee Sanders, former White House pressing, sir, of course in the recent released a brand new book entitled Speaking for myself, Faith, Freedom in the Fight for Our Lives Inside the Trump White House, Sarah the Woodward book. I think one big question that a lot of the present supporters have is this. Why did he give him such Accessibility. I think that after Woodward's first book about the president that was so negative, the president was hopeful that if he injected his own voice into the story, he could change the narrative. Unfortunately, Bob Woodward's been writing books about presidents for a long time, and very few have ever been positive. So I'm not sure that he was going to be able to change anything. He has. Woodward has a formula. He sticks to it, and he sells books and has done very well in doing that. I don't think I would have advised the president to spend that much time with him. But one of the things I find refreshing about this president if he isn't afraid to take questions from reporters, he does that almost every single day whether it's in the Oval Office, the briefing room or the South Lawn of the White House, he is accessible in a way that we have never seen a president be in modern history. There was. This has been a lot of criticism of Bob Woodward if he believed he had information and the president on tape. Of things that the president claim one thing in public and a love thing behind closed doors. And it would impact health and well being of the United States and its citizens. He had an obligation to report that did he not. Absolutely. He would have had a moral obligation to do that. That's why I don't think he felt that anyone was actually in danger as if he was more focused on selling books. Look, Let's not forget the president started talking about the Corona virus in January In his state of the Union address, he took early actions banning travel from China at the same time that Democrats like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi were attacking the president for taking that action. I think the president has really tried to do everything he could to keep the country calm, not collapse our economy completely while protecting lives and protecting livelihood. Having said that, did he lie? That's that's the sexism by his critics. But I don't think so. I think the president again he didn't want to create panic. I think we saw the similar rhetoric come from both from Joe Biden, he said. We don't want hysteria. We don't want people to panic. I don't think it is abnormal for the president of the United States for the leader of our country to want to keep our country calm and to keep people focused on defeating Disease and keep park economy from completely collapsing. I don't think that that is is wrong for the president to try Todo. The name of the book is speaking for myself. Faith freedom of the fight for our lives Inside the Trump. White House By Sarah Huckabee. Sanders. Sara. Thanks best look to the book to you as well, Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

Where the fake Trump media massacre video came from, and other things to know about it
"All right so for those of you that might not be totally into this story or understanding where it's come from this was totally trending on twitter all day a and it just so happens that I spoke at the conference where this is the center of controversy so there was a horrific museum video where you're donald trump massacres fake news media now essentially there's these videos that go around and there's this community of people that love the president so much they'll take popular videos superimpose the face of Donald trump onto somebody kickboxing or somebody with a lightsaber fighting people they disagree with so I guess the most this one was the CNN which with precise which was the body slam when the wwe one because the president shared that one and so this particular video was from the movies kingsman which is about the British Secret Service or something starring Colin Firth actually doesn't fourteen. I've never enjoyed those movies I it's called the dark comedy only for some people only some people very cheesy I never liked that movie right somehow killing people's funny but no there is a whole genre it appeals to a certain the demographics never liked the not Nora Nora I've tried to watch it a couple times is just not really my my genre so anyway this memoir so those that don't seem to have to define what a menas because we do have some people okay so mean is what is the best way to find a mean kind of like when you know it Ben Johnson Adam Benny Johnson chief creative officer turning point USA so look amine is a picture or a video that satirizes or explains an issue in a short sound bite that usually his comedy or uses wit I guess that's a good way to put it that it turns it on its head flips it sure Iran nick insightful. Almost here's the best way I can describe it it's the Internet's equivalent of political cartoons that a good way to put it share okay a modern digital essentially this scene in kingsman which I don't understand how this scene was really funnier incite fuller enjoyable the watch but allegedly there was a scene where somebody walks into a church and kills a bunch of people that was the scene Church massacre and they superimposed Donald Trump's face to be the guy that's killing everyone and then he's killing the fake news media CNN MSNBC as well as Democrats like Barack Obama Nancy Pelosi unless we totally denounces videos unequivocally and totally I don't think it's funny to show violence against other people I think it's it's not my not my taste I don't think it's funny people I find that Kinda dark humor interesting I'm not one of those people however he let's just get through some facts they say this was shown at the president's Miami resort so all of the media covering this is insinuating as if the president approved this or this was at his resort he didn't at all okay so I was at this event it was a unique event it was one with a lot of energy and a lot of people that were really excited to be there and Donald Trump junior Sarah Sanders governor on descent data's thankful to be invited you know so this video is shown in a side room in a breakout room against a wall in a very kind of make shift CAPAC- acidy and Don Jr. Ron to Santa Sarah Sanders myself and Corey Lewandowski knew nothing of it we didn't know about this until the news actually broke and now we're being lumped into this I might have spent forty minutes at this event basically the entire time I was at the event was when I was speaking in and out and Laura Ingraham that night and then I flew to Detroit super early the next morning I didn't hang around it was not but they're acting as if we were behind this entire thing the headlines are all all sort of inferring it's like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Donald trump junior charlie kirk and this

"Let's check back in on a live shot of Riyadh because we are keeping a close eye on a developing story. President Donald Trump has been briefed on reports of a missile strike in Saudi Arabia. The White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee put that out in the last hour or two. Yeah. That's right. So the, the particular location for this missile strike is said to be a power station in Saudi Arabia with a cruise missile. Now, of course, we'll bring you more on that there's one other Saudi related piece of news. And that is the US Senate planning to vote Thursday on resolutions to halt arms sales to the kingdom. Four candidates at top of Trump's list to replace Sarah Sanders
"Are now four kids at the top of the president's list to replace Sarah Sanders. That's the job that I said, I, I would want nothing. No who, who would want that job to be the press secretary. That is a tough enough job as it is. Let alone during this administration. That is just a that you talk about a meat grinder. So we know Sarah Sanders is stepping down. President Trump according to Reuters has four leading candidates under consideration to replace her. They are White House deputy press secretary, HOGAN Gidley, HOGAN Gidley. First lady Melania Trump's communications director. Stephanie grisham. Former State Department spokeswoman, Heather Nauert. You may remember her. She was on Fox News for many years, Heather Nauert and outgoing treasury department spokesman Tony Sega essay, why h anyway, the source said, uncondition of anonymity HOGAN, Gidley, Stephanie, Grisham, header, Howard, Tony, saying, or Sega Sanders announced, of course yesterday. She's stepping down at the end of this month. Couple more weeks left. She's been on the job, two years. She's going to return to her home in the state of Arkansas. She will do nothing but relax. For a long, long time. I will give credit to Sarah Sanders. In this way, she did a much better job than spicy did Sean Spicer. That was that was tense and uncomfortable and awkward and tough to watch and tough to listen to. And I think what Sarah Sanders came along cook. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Anders Huckabee, whatever which she came along. She brought a certain amount of normalcy and I'm using air quotes here on the radio normalcy to that position. And normalcy to what that job entails and make no mistake about it. Being the press secretary for President Trump is unlike any other press secretary or press secretary's responsibilities for any prior president because in the end we'll look when when you're in that position, you are always. Really speaking for one person the president. But for this president, I really believe that not only are you speaking on his behalf. But you are also out there, trying to appease, and please, that president always whenever you work in the White House. You're clearly working. At the pleasure of the president trying to please him. But. What Spicer and what Sarah Sanders has had to do is been on a completely different level in terms of working to satisfy the man behind the resolute desk in the Oval Office. This has been something, an a completely other level, which brings me back to my original question. Who in the heck would want this job? I mean it's a no win situation to begin with. And it really is a job that. It really is a job for somebody who is willing to walk really blindly down the path and follow an avenue that rightly or wrongly whatever you believe, personally, you've gotta pedal, the narrative of the day, and you have to peddle the narrative, coming from, again, in this case, the Oval Office, which is always very difficult, which is always, or I should say, we can oftentimes be personally conflicting, but for this president for this administration. The office of press secretary is as unique one as we have ever seen. And whether it's HOGAN Gidley, Stephanie Grisham, Heather Nauert are Tony sag. I'm butchering that name if Tony gets the job will, obviously, get the name. Right. But if it's one of those four people.

We've been through a lot together she's tough. But she's good. You know, you also have tough and bad, right? She's tough. And she's good. She's great Sanders who was thirty six years old married with three young children and returning home to Arkansas. It's one of the greatest jobs, I could ever have. "Three nine nine hundred eighty nine hundred popcorn you have to hear to believe grab your popcorn because there's more so this maxine waters continuing seem and yesterday from the press sarah huckabee sanders made a statement many by now i've heard that was asked to leave a restaurant this weekend attempted to have dinner with my family husband and i politely left and went home i was asked to leave because i worked for president trump we are allowed to gris disagree but we should be able to do so freely and without fear of harm and this goes for all people regardless of politics some have chosen to push hagan vandalism against the restaurant that i was asked to leave from a hollywood actor publicly encouraged people to kidnap my children and this weekend a member of congress called for people to push back and make clear to those serving their country in this administration that they are not welcome anywhere anytime for anything healthy debate on ideas and political philosophy is important but then calls for harassment and push for any trump supporter to avoid the public is unacceptable america's a great country and our ability to find solutions despite those disagreements is what makes us unique that is exactly what president trump has done for all americans building a booming economy with record low unemployment for african americans and hispanics the defeat of isis and the ongoing work to achieve peace on the korean peninsula so that's her statement there now i wish personally she'd left out the stuff about trump and isis and north korea because that wasn't the part that that wasn't focus as far as i would describe it but she mentioned a couple things in there the red hen in lexington virginia they throw her out so your plan is to engage in vandalism what's what's wrong with you it's too dumb for words and i don't mind them you know i'm not somebody who uses dumber stupid you know i i think those words then conversation but it's dumb what is that gonna do for you what is the bloody point somebody said they should kidnap her children now now i want someone to tell me how somehow that's not violent there is a sick in twisted going on in the world there is an in america but is this disability conversation the civility conversation has i think a little bit of a a false premise that we should speak to each other nicely well what about what the doings that are going on i would make the argument that when we talk about president trump he he don't tweet nights for nothing he he don't tweet nice now he'll tweet about your mom's and by the way i think his tweet about the red hen is is messed up i think he could have said very disappointed that the restaurant didn't serve my fantastic press secretary i won't be going there and shaimaa right now could that would have been fine he's talking about the place being dirty and the canopies your press secretary was more than happy to eat there so what you're press secretary each dirty places there's nobody follow the logic do they not even pay attention to what it is the writing they're saying they're doing it's ridiculous but it's so quick to china knock someone directly in the face that there is no thought process going forward so now i didn't like the president's tweet on the subject at all because i wasn't good see i like tweets that are good wasn't good don't don't even write me trump dollars you know i'm right the tweet sucked he doesn't he's right about immigration policy he's right about the fact that there are too many who want open borders he's absolutely correct about the fact that we need to be modern people crossing the border illegally he's absolutely correct when he discusses where these policies came from and how these policies got an active he's absolutely positively correct and i support a the the aggressive protection of the borders i also support legal immigration and i have not gotten any indication that he does not support legal immigration and when you talk about separating a families don't don't don't look at me i don't care if he keeps families together and he signed the the executive order i said fine i always said fine from the very beginning doesn't change the fact that people crossing the.

"Get only wait hurt for forever and ever that we were going to build a wall between the us and mexico in the wall that we've wound up with his name sarah huckabee sanders and she is you know she's just of she's just their she's lark i have to watch my descriptors here because i don't want to say anything physically insulting but she is you know she provides a a barrier essentially between the american public and the white house at rather than trying to inform reporter so that they can enter and re uh inform the american people uh she either doesn't respond to questions or she says a ridiculous things such as well whether that's a real video or not threatened israel which is complete nonsense and uh you know she hits a dishonest response so um i can't say uh that she's doing the job that she supposed to do she's just presenting herself as a wall that blocks information rather than helps disseminated richer garrett will have to go physical in any way to absorb that this is a very formidable person out the microphone yuban lot of administrations now a you were were there for the sean spicer once you're rise huckabee sanders as a white house press secretary force will she does the job that sean spicer was asked to do with much more gusto and much more selfconfidence and much more self possession and there's a reason for that uh i think kathy would agree in watching the evolution of the white house televised press briefing many a press secretary have found it to be more show than substance have tried to figure out a way to maximize whatever the president says and does and minimise the bothers some an irritant or irritating questions had come from the white house press corps and what this white house has done is sort of taken a cultural attitude toward the white house press briefing which is it's for our audience and it's for our message and anyone who disagrees with it or doesn't like it can leave or can be insulted or can be enraged and we don't care it is not a place where information is gathered now not every white house briefing covered in previous administrations was altogether that rich an atmosphere.
