"Alright, a little bit more on Giovanni Bernard and then A, uh, a tri state slash high school slash champions topic. Coming up after the bottom of the hour. But Monroe we go next, Willie. Welcome to sports talk. Hey, Lance. Thank you. Love the show. Thank you, Uh, got a couple of little things. First. One is how many years of Giovanni bless his heart, Get his head beating with a poor team and still came out and performed week after week. And the other thing is, if we're trying to build this Jill burrow type of offense. Who best coming out the back field with their beat. And Giovanni. Yeah, because Geo I mean the element. Geo brings so many elements to the table. Let's be honest. He's a much better pass catcher than Joe Mixon is Um, NGOs of a better blocker blitz picker upper there then Joe Mixon is so there's no question there's a lot of intangibles and football skills packed into Giovanni Bernard. You know, I really hate seeing go. He was great for this community is great for this team, and I'm gonna missing that. Zaveri. Well said Thank you for checking in tonight. All right. Thank you. Okay, thank you. I'm looking what The exact comment from Ben Baby was today ESPN dot com covering the Pringles, he said. I really liked what Giovanni Bernard brought to the Bengals offense last year. Think he has some left in the tank would agree is Kyle Caskey certainly said that and Ben said, Honestly, you could argue a versatile running back like Geo is a better offensive fit for the Bengals or the modern game. And someone who commands 20 carries a game. Like a Joe Mixon. Yet the reality is the Bangles of Hitch their wagon to Joe with a a big time contract, and, um And save towards the Sarah Cap 4.1 million to do with it. Who knows? We'll see. Maybe it's maybe it's somebody who's left in the in the pile of free agents after the draft is over a trade turner others who, whoever Maybe somebody through cuts winds up on the street. You've got a little bit extra money to play with. I am struck by just The foundational pieces. So many guys who are part of the winning are gone, and that's not like that. That's part of that's part of changing turnover. Guys don't last forever, and you've got a new coach and new coaches and a new vision, a new way of doing things and eventually you cycle through and funnel through and you develop new guys and Joe Burrows clearly the face and later on this team. You've got Von Bell and some other guys who've been there done that, who stepped up his leaders last year. It's just sadly, it's a trio of age. I'm ensure its production its age and cost and roll for Giovanni Bernard at his age at his cost, and at his role on this team it it didn't make much sense. Unfortunately, to keep him around. I'm looking at the all time leading rushers and Bangles franchise history. Corey Dillon. One. James Brooks to Rudy is three. Pete Johnson is four. Cedric Benson is five. Harold Greene is six. Then Giovanni Bernard is number 7/7 leading rusher in franchise history with just over 3600 yards. Yet on Lee Only 921 touches in his NFL career pardon, rushing attempts, not even touches touches, including receptions, just 921 rushing attempts in his career. For comparison, a Corey Dillon had Double that over 1800 rushing yards. James Brooks had over Over 400 more attempts in his Bangles career. Rudy had more had over 500 more rushing attempts in his career s Oh, yeah, I I don't think it's a stretch based on the way they used him. Or maybe better said didn't use him. Giovanni Bernard as a veteran. Veteran presence leader guy who can catch and run will. I don't think without question wind up with somebody a next season. He also winds up when there's not a whole lot of a ton of guys. Rudy wound up our geo wound up averaging. Four yards per carry in his Bengals career. Look at those numbers now through football reference. Hold on here. Just humor me for a second, because I'm looking at how that compares to other guys. Corey 43, James Brooks 4.8. My goodness, He was good. Rudy four Pete Johnson, 3.9 Giovanni Bernard 4.0. All right. We've reached the bottom of the hour. I thought about this last night. I think there might be a little something here that I'd like to maybe dig into with you if we could. On Monday night, Macy O Teague, The pride of Walnut Hills playing for Baylor won a national championship today at the Reds game. Mike Edwards of Winton Woods. The football player won a Super Bowl this year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and we often talk about lack of championships around the city for our teams, and I started thinking about the high school products in the Tri state. That have won championships either in the college ranks or the pro ranks. On the heels of Maisie. Oh, Teague and Mike Edwards and I started working on a pretty good list. See who you could add to that list. High school products from the Tri state who won a championship on the college level or the pro level I'll share my list is we continue you create sports talk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet 700 WLW..

"Two time super bowl champs boker mcfarland and stephen i in light of new deal you think that He's really about playing or you think it's really all about the benjamins. Think he's about playing. But i think that obviously the money plays a role but i think it's about that power that influence in what i mean by that is as i explained earlier charlie and booger. You know once you get the money to do this the nba. Then it's about the money because you get your money. Your contract is signed and sealed. That's it that's it period but in a national football league once you get that money i still could come to you to restructure your deal to take a pay cut to do things of that nature matter of fact i have to do it to come to you because there's a hard salary cap any modifications that need to be made in the interest of making sure that you're in a position that we as a team in a position to go out at the end getting assets that that we need to help us win. Now i have to communicate with you. I have to involve you. I have to get you to capitulate an acquiesced some of the request but demands that i might want to make. You can't do that when you don't make money but what you do make the money you do have to do that. And i think in the case of dak prescott fourth round pick that play for the dallas cowboys. That never missed the game. That never missed. Put one practice of that guy. This led this team to the playoffs twice. That watched you pay other folks. And what have you year. He was saying that you're gonna give me my market value. Just you gave everybody else but what he was also saying that. I'm going to be involved in this process moving forward so if you want to do something you're going to have to come to me to sort of modify or restructure my my my my dollars in order to things that you wanna do which is going to have meat thoroughly invested in this franchise for years to come. I think it was about that just as much as it was about the money or at least to some degree. I'm not questioning dak prescott passion for the game or anything like that. Let me be very clear. It's not that he doesn't play for the love of the game. But although i'll tell everybody none of these guys would dedicate their entire lives to football sandlot. Football almost nobody right. They could people with jobs and stuff. This is their profession. What they do is as much as their athletes who love the competition. They are on a tv show. Called the nfl and dak prescott wants to get. Because he's one of the stars of that tv show for you know the most popular show so so i understand that and he should go get paid. The nfl is set up in a way though. Where you must rob peter to pay paul. You know who ushered in the era of the salary cap jerry jones then he got around it by pro reading the bonus and signed dion. Sanders is all the other owners. Were standing around going in a minute. I thought you said we needed a salary. Cap to control cost. It was jerry jones. That's why when a guy like jerry. Jones comes with monopoly man pockets empty inside out. We we don't have any cap space. He's the reason you don't have any cap space and guys like him. So because of that players are in fact faced would-be unfair choice of personal benefit financially versus potential team success. I don't think it's coincidental that tom brady. The goat was the guy who probably gave up the most money kicking the can down the road taking pay cuts and all that stuff restructuring to help the team and never leaked like the highest. Paid guy probably not coincidence but he also has the most super bowl championships so but like i. Don't blame doc for taking the money but is it more about getting paid. I mean the proof is in the pudding it got down to the eleventh hour and then he took arguably the best contract ever. Secondly you could say how it's valued versus patrick mahomes. But he's not a patrick mahomes level player and he's out here talking about. I've never played the game for money. I knew it was on sportscenter. The whole thing with deck this morning. I've never touched a football and think about how many how much i'm going to get paid. I get got passion for the game. Dak no doubt but let's not act like money is not a or the motivating factor. Here dak took the highest possible dollar amount the most advantageous contract for himself and that will unfairly to him have a negative impact on him being able to win because now they have less money to spend on his teammates. That's the way it works. Well what else do you done you. Usda host popular show. And i guarantee you guys aren't coming to work so you know what how much money cannot leave on the table for other people at espn. Our job is to come and do our job at the highest level and make as much money as we can and we allow the bosses to worry about the quote unquote payroll. We allow the boss to worry about what everyone else is making. Dad prescott played the first four years of his career. He may four million dollars and he played better than a lot of quarterbacks they were making a ton of money. So then he got franchise and now. It's his opportunity to get generational money. You're damn right. He's supposed to get the most money as possible. An agent told me once let the owners and the general manager worry about the salary cap. My job as an agent and as a player is to get the most money possible. So how come. The answer can't be both have come. He can't be about his money and also be about winning because the first four years he played for peanuts. Now he's about his money and that prescott is played the quarterback position at a high level. And everyone wants to bring up. Tom brady tom brady. He took less. And he's got seven championships. And he's gonna ten super bowls. Okay that's one. Can you name me anybody else. That's taken less money throughout this lee. This league is about getting that paper in jerry. Jones knows this. He's got the most profitable franchise in the nfl. One of the most profitable in american sports. He's not hurting for money. So why can't he figure out a way to manipulate the sarah cap yes. It's a hard cap but it can't be manipulated to pay the rest of the team. That's not job that's job is not to be gm. His job is to be the best quarterback possible and he has earned the money. So i say the answers bowl. He's about winning. But at some point as a young man who grew up in rural shreveport louisiana dakota rain prescott showed you. He is about winning. You know he has to guarantee you again. Tell you right now that prescott even this new deal is about to be signed. he's rehabbed. he's getting ready so you can be about winning. You can be about putting your team first but at some point man. We're all businessmen. I'm trying to feed my family just like you're trying to feed yours. Nobody goes into any negotiation than tom. Brady whose example we all show saying you know what. How can i take less for everyone else. We're all trying to maximize what we could do in in that did and so. I applaud that. I applaud tie france. Because that's agent. He did a hell of a job there. There are many ages that over the last couple of years would have taken the deal that was on the table. Let's not forget. It was five years one seventy five. One hundred t guaranteed. I think that was on the table last year and dak prescott turned it down with the vice of time frames and now we are four years.

charlie last year tom brady four years Sanders jerry jones five years stephen eleventh hour nfl jerry One hundred dak prescott Jones first four years dallas cowboys patrick mahomes boker mcfarland Brady seven championships

In fact, this on Twitter from the Vikings as an organization Kyle has tweeted A thank you to the organization. The Vikings releasing the following statements, head coach Mike Zimmer. Quote. Kyle has been a leader and a mentor for us on and off the field. From the first day I arrived in Minnesota. He has been such an important part of this team and community. Throughout his career. It has been an honor to coach him the last seven seasons. He will be missed, and we wish him and his family. Nothing but the best. Vikings general manager Rick Spielman has issued the following statement. From the moment we drafted Kyle is a young man out of Notre Dame and 2011 through his 10th season with the Vikings in 2020. He has been one of the premier tight ends in the NFL and most influential in positive leaders I've ever been around Kyle and Jordan. Made in immeasurable impact on our team in community that may never be matched. The energy they have invested in the community, most notably through the end zone at the University of Minnesota's Children's Hospital is truly remarkable. I admire Kyle and we will miss him and his family. We sincerely wish him the best. What's that? I hear Do it often the distance. I hear Daughtry's. I'm going home playing in the background. Could you see it? Could you envision it? I certainly could. But if you're writing about Ricardo Allen, who visited with the Bengals today, quick run down the four 11. He is a seven year veteran. Has spent his entire career with the Falcons. Four time team captain Fan favorite, was released last month due to salary cap issues They cleared did the Falcons about six and a quarter million dollars in cap space by releasing him this past season, he had two interceptions. Five passes defended in 25 tackles Overall, he has started 76 of 77 career games. He has 11 interceptions in his career. He's been a full time starter since 2015 he has over the last three seasons missed. I believe a total of 17 games due to injuries he recovered after a Tauron Achilles tendon in week three ended his 2018 season started all 16 games in 2019 when he was the Falcons nominee. With Walter Payton. NFL Man of the Year Award goes about 59 about 100 £86. He was 1/5 round pick in the 2014 draft, Not bad value and bang for your buck for the Falcons fifth round pick in 2014 and spent seven years starting 77 games took a has the perception is well, the numbers will say he's taking a step back in recent years is pro football focus grade was 62 4 this past season? His best season was 2016 when that grade was pushing 76 If you're wondering how and why is it relates to the Bangles? Jesse Bates? Bonne Bell here? Certainly a depth. Option at a you would figure reasonable price. Consider their bracket. Backup safety is Brandon Wilson and Shaun Williams are hitting free agency and perhaps the ability to play the slot as well. That from the NFL ranks today with Ricardo Allen released on the Falcons and Cow Rudolph looking for work as well. All right, we're going to do this between now and make it 7 35 tonight. "In a podcast form. We did kind of a college basketball whip around with Justin Williams from the athletic talking. You see Adam Bomb of the Enquirer on Xavier and Matt Jones from Kentucky Sports Radio about the Wildcats. Good stuff in that hour. Let's Segway into some good stuff. Some fun stuff in this hour. Then in the third hour tonight, earlier in the week, I told you the story in The New York Times of the 74 year old guy who I really wanted a big baseball fan and has been cooped up in the house during the pandemic and read a book about baseball and pitching, And he just he had the itch to have a catch and his wife had posted on the neighborhood app. Anyone wanna have a catch with my husband and on a Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock? Husband, wife showed up and he brought his balmy midnight in a ball and and strangers just started showing up and getting out of their cars and walking into the park with their mitts. And they all had to catch you know, is the coolest thing. But there was something inside that story that that caught my eye about a moment in his life in a prized possession. I'm gonna tie that into a topic one hour from now. With your help, but in this hour I want to start here. I am in tight this in with the topic yesterday. The news broke that the Los Angeles Dodgers are monitoring the market for right hander Trevor Bauer. And my reaction was, Of course they are. My reaction was well, doesn't that figure And e. Don't know why it it hit me this white. Maybe it's just because I'm such a big fan of Trevor Bauer and, Well, you know, he's the only Cy Young Award winner in the history, the franchise and he's going to get a gazillion billion dollars maybe 40 year. Just reading that yesterday. The Dodgers are monitoring the free agent market for right hander Trevor Bauer. Remains a possibility for the Dodgers as the market develops. It was so Was so disheartening. So, like spirit breaking That sounds overly dramatic, but it was spirit breaking as a baseball fan to to to think the world champions. Who's payroll is over. 200 million in a normal year. Are monitoring the market. For Trevor Bauer. And it just It got me thinking about where baseball is from that standpoint, and I go back to what producer Alex said the other night when it when he mentioned No look at look at the markets this weekend in the NFL represented that teams represent, and you have Green Bay, Buffalo, Tampa and Kansas City. Is the final four. In the NFL. Green Bay is a blue blood of the NFL. And Think of market size. And I think of opportunity, and I think the NFL with the salary cap They even the playing field. Sarah cap for everybody. He be money shared equally among everybody. Draft. It's all set up. Pete Rosell's dream is commissioner years ago was parody. Anything. Everybody to have a chance. I don't know why it's hit me this way. But it's just I look at the game of baseball and I see the Dodgers in a classic case of perhaps the rich getting richer that the team that won the world Syriza's That prints money 200 million Plus in a normal year. I think 2019 their payroll is $229 million interested in Trevor Bauer. And I know it can be done other ways. It's awfully difficult to thread the needle if you're the Tampa Bay Rays. Yes, they did. Get to the world. Syria's on Yeah, you gotta be. You gotta be smart and how you scout and draft and develop and financially responsible in your decision making and all of that. And yet The frustrating frustrating thing to me and maybe it's just because we're in a air quotes here small market with the Reds. To me, the sport should be about Which team Does the best job you're in a year out of scouting drafting developing Then managing those players in the major league level and how those players perform on the major league level. Not about Spending money and who has the most money to spend to throw it. Problems on the roster, and I know it's not is easiest, saying the team that spends the most wins the most. There's many examples of that simply not being the case, but You go back to the last full season of Major League baseball. The highest payroll in the leg was 229 million in the lowest was 64. When I When I see that I always think, how can you seriously present to the the the fans, the public That type of disparity were one team spends 229 million in the other teams spend 64 million And I always go back to 1994, which was just a horrific baseball season where they canceled the season and they wiped out the world. Syriza. They played World Series around wars and earthquakes and everything, and that year they wiped it all out. It would have been one thing I remember. The time comes. I was on the year that summer in Chicago and I remember thinking right there. Actually, they were gonna wipe out the season and they're actually gonna wipe out the world. Syriza. I said well. At least they're going to fix this. I'm gonna blow the whole thing up. And the owners were going to get a salary cap out of it, and they're going to even the playing field and I'll be damned thing. Didn't even do that blew up the season blew up the World Series didn't even get a salary cap out of it. And the more more I thought about this yesterday in the more more I got worked up, then I'm always thinking. All right, turn my thoughts into a current event topic and I'm thinking, all right, You know if I only had the power if I only had the power And ah, our new president has signed a number of executive orders in the last 24 hours on Executive order is a copy down the definition a means of issuing federal directives in the United States used by the president. It manages operations of the federal government. Now I'm going to scrape all that gobbling group away and just reduce it. The sports If I had an executive order My executive order for sports would be that baseball would operate with the salary cap moving forward. It would make the game about who does the best job of assembling the talent, managing the talent and having that talent perform on the field. And then it hit me. I said William it, There's probably a topic inside of all this. What if I offer up as an assignment? If you choose to accept it, and I'll open up the lines? It 5137491 7800 the big one and pounds 700 on a TNT. If you choose to accept the assignment, it would be to issue an executive order of sports. What would you like to hereby? Declare Yesterday. Had somebody granted me an executive order of sports, I would have declared That Major league baseball going forward would operate with a salary cap. Pick your number. Whatever it is 150,000,175 million on, I would say you're going to have to spend up to..

"Because you're really gonna be mad at me. The Texans are screwing things up for themselves. Romeo Crennel takes over. And the Texans are winning and the Texans look halfway competent and the Texans look halfway competitive. So not only did you have a year where you had the opportunity to be able to go and get a great draft pick and be able to maneuver yourself like that. You're winning a bunch of meaningless games. And more importantly, you're making it harder and harder to not say. Maybe Romeo Crennel needs to stay. Look, we all know the answer to this right? We've seen Romeo Crennel. We've seen the head coach Romeo Crennel. And we know if you're being honest, and you can be honest with me, we know that Romeo Cornell is not the answer. For dish on Watson's career and everything else moving forward. That's not the right answer. But This is what happens with teams. I watched it the last couple years. How much of a disaster are the Atlanta Falcons and that organization? I watched the Atlanta Falcons. Start out two and six and 17. Two years in a row, and they retained their head coach. Dan Quinn got his job back when he won a bunch of meaningless games when the season had already been set a fire It was an inferno. They want a bunch of meaningless games. And they bluff themselves into thinking we're not that far off. What we were in the second half of the season is what we can be. Houston taxes. You can't Just make sure you don't fall for this. I saw Dan Orlovsky. Good man. Dan Orlovsky speculating on social media. That boy get Eric the enemy in there fast. Get him in there fast. Gonna be a great situation form in Houston and I'm saying As they would in Wayne's world. Speak to say what? Huh? What What? That make any sense, Eric the enemy. Should And I believe you will have an opportunity to pick, choose and refuse on head coaching jobs. Why in the world would Eric the enemy picked the Houston Texans who will not be one of the Most attractive jobs out there. Why would he do it? Why in the world would he do it? Doesn't make any sense. Let's say he went to Jacksonville. In a roster with young talent. Tons of cap space. And a potential to draft off franchise quarterback that he could mold from day one. Or he goes to the Jets. Goes to a roster. We'll have a lot of cap space. He may have Trevor Laurence, same type of situation. And he can build a franchise and build everything in his in his vision. Those air to jobs that are gonna be open. That are better than the Houston Texans job because the Houston Texans their draft capital is way down there. Sarah Cap situation sucks. And it's not the money one of the most attractive jobs out there. And there will be others. They're gonna be available. You think Cincinnati might not be shopping for a new head coach? There we go, Love You care what's going on? H. I heard you talking earlier about the upcoming baseball apocalypse. That is fascinating, and it's gonna be the biggest story next year. Two quick questions. First of all did the shortened season this year. Into the hands of the owners when it comes to negotiating all this I think that maybe revenues being down absolutely plays in the owner's hands. Look, the owners are going to the owners are going to get a salary cap out of this. I'm convinced that Major league Baseball will have a salary cap coming out of whatever labor shut down. They're going to have. And I think that's going to be the big thing moving forward is that we'll see a better babe brand of baseball because of the fact that don't go do that. All right, Bunny Timon. "Well, I would agree with that. But there's a They've already talked that out and that was discussed ago. Competitive imbalance standpoint. There's so much loss of money that the players will assume that risk for the reward of not having $175 million Sarah cap across the board that's already been negotiated. Is it subject to change? If you had a commission? I really ran the league. And not a few owners. You could probably get that done. But that's not the case here. So the other thing is with baseball, which Jeff Passan his reporting. Is that they're going to go to these double bubbles, and the question would be what they do it like the Giants play the Dodgers in a one age That 1 may not be involved. Which would be, I guess kind of the wild card round. But it beam or in the next round the division round the championship shares the World Series. So they're talking about doing what the N B a in the NHL ir doing for their postseason to ensure that revenue No, it passed, and he's almost saying that it's a done deal is that Houston and Arlington will be the National League Bubbles in L. A. And San Diego. Will be the American League bubble and the world. Siri's Bubble will be in Arlington, which is just an incredible stadium that Globe life field a new one they have is just amazing. But you are going into California, Texas, which is hot beds there, But you're gonna you know, bubble the players to ensure the payday of the postseason. I'm not going to say, John, you and I were at least I was and I think you were a swell Maybe for different reasons. Just we were highly skeptical. That baseball could do this for a lot of reasons, and there were times where I thought they got to shut this down. You got the Marlins? You got the Cardinal's You've got other teams impacted. I mean last weekend, the New York Yankees did not play baseball. They're playing the Mets right now trying to make it up. But you had a whole weekend where the Yankees did not play. How much of this can you absorb and still have Ah, product on the field, and you know some of your start players and franchises. But there I think they're going to get through it now. I think because they're just not spreading it as much by playing it. There are isolated outbreaks that are concerning and they've just got a month to go. I mean, the playoffs start in late September are the wildcard rounds, So they just got a month ago. And then if they go into this bubble format I mean, it's so it seems like it. I don't want to, You know, jinx everybody, But it seems like baseball is more than halfway there that they may be able to pull this off, and I I thought there was really unlikely. For most of the summer, and certainly even when the season started, and you had mass outbreaks on multiple teams will remember the first weekend of the year when the Marlins have that outbreak. Prop Manfred Told executives. You better have alternative programming ready because we might have to shut this thing down from that point. Bob Nightengale reports this morning for the first time no positive test among MLB players this week. So they've done a hell of a job. The NFL I finally got the hard knocks last night. They've done a hell of a job. Matt Mediocre reported this morning. 112 NFL players one on the Koven 19 let list On July 26 Today, 111 players been cleared off the list. Jaguars tackle Ryan Pope went on July 28th is the only player remains on the list. They've done a phenomenal job and we already know what's going on in the MBA in the NHL. They've done a phenomenal job in sports in in understanding. This is a quick session in the people who have put it together. Astounding job, Amigas, eh? They're they're spending enormous money. Enormous money to test I've already been tested five times whom I Why am I any more important than anybody but that you know, Jimmy Garoppolo gets tested every single day any well for another week. I mean, you just wish those kind of financial resource is were put into the The public and just basic American citizens so they could be tested like this. But it's because there's so much money available. There's so much money on the line that they're doing this and so yeah, it's it's you got to say that baseball is close to pulling this off and if they could get to Maybe the hardest part is behind them, and now they figured out a lot of the protocols. Why don't we play the game? Guys are more serious about it. And if they go to this double bubble now for the playoffs, John you I'm not going to say they're going ensure it, But I think either way there's a mindset because baseball had some rocky waters there. I mean, the Marlins are shutting down. Carla Cardinals are bad. It's impacting other teams. Fillies in nationals aren't playing for a long chunk. The Yankees aren't playing because the Mets are involved and you gotta be thinking. What are we doing here? But I think the mindset was once they got through the initial. Where is going we're just gonna push on here and you just gotta hope nobody gets irreparably. Damaged by this, whether it's heart long whatever it attacks on the whole body, But I think there's a mindset in sports that we are going to push through it. And as you say the numbers are minuscule, and it's because the The dollar numbers are so massive that they're spending so much money to have these guys tested. You know, In some sports, they get tested every single day. It doesn't seem like a month. But if you think about it like this, I think about this last night, there will be no way to explain to people who were not here on Earth. To explain how crazy this has been because since they started just over a month ago We've had obviously the covert 19. We've had civil unrest, stop games, and we could have had smoke stop games here because of the air quality was so poor in a number of these days. It's just been absolutely the craziest thing you could ever think of. And I'm not even talking about sports just in general to try to explain to people this But when The history of sports is written in the history of baseball has written this will be a chapter in it. And if you didn't live through it, I think it's inexplicable. I don't know how you could tell someone sit down with somebody saying this. This is really what happened and this is what they had to do. And then they did a bubble in the postseason and people go. What the hell you're talking about, Like they couldn't they couldn't potentially or possibly Relate to what's going on. Right now. It's crazy. One year old and gray and your grandkids. Grampa. Johnny, Tell me about 2020. What happened then? I mean, seriously, you got a year We're gonna be here awhile. Get comfortable grab a sleeping bag and a pillow. Like God, It's just It's unreal. I mean they from and I was very critical from that first week when the Marlins have the outbreak, and I thought, Are they not prepared? They get this? Now where they basically don't have any tests. Everything is negative, which is positive and to go through all these other things that they've gone through as a sport and continue and not only continue their not right now, it seems They're not just stumbling through. This is a strong as they've been, and then, like you said, Now they're getting to a point where the same Okay, Here's the bubble situation that weaken that we can do in the postseason and if they can get to that point That's that's pretty good. Based on what the MBA in the NHL have accomplished, so Give baseball credit. I don't know if I want to give Rob Manford credit, but I'll get baseball credit. Powers that be. They've done a heck of a job of this whole thing. So we'll talk to bags to the bottom of the hour specifically about the Giants in the sweep yesterday, also the latest on Joey Bart. Some numbers have come out for his first week and we didn't get a chance..

Let's imagine. And you make that snap. Melon say it's not the best. Would I think the snap could do it, but you know I? It's an interesting question is is that physically possible to pull on it when you are not grounded on something to snap it? Maybe I mean maybe it's because they do their lynchings. And maybe it's an Old Horn you now old barn. I mean there's lots of ways you could work it out and you. "And you know, he's a little banged up. And he's skills are diminishing. There's no doubt. But he's he's still the best tight end in football. I don't see anything changing here next year or the year after barring any sort of sort of injury or media, a shower or something like these guys going gonna be around for a little while longer. They. Yeah. He may be forty one. But I think people are failing to factory and we're talking about a day and age of the NFL where the quarterback is a is is protected you. You can't hit them. How you can't hit them low. You can't hit him in the helmet. And it's easier to be an older quarterback down that it has been at any point in the NFL. So Tom Brady's forty one is like the the past bills Thirty-one-year-old quarterback that may be a bit of a stretch. But you know, what? I mean, he he can they got to him a little bit yesterday. There's no question. But when Tom Brady gets time and space as long as he has his mind, and he's got decent earned street. He's going to continue to do what he does to NFL teams. I think he's gonna come back for another key. Is that offensive line? Right. It's all that time to throw the ball. And do what he does and protect a guy who's less ambulatory. Then he's because he's forty one years old. And so I think the most important guys in that field for the future dynasty is a dynasty continues his offense lineman. Yeah. What they do to protect. Here and give him the time and space, and what they do in terms of either scouting or or drafting and developing is just they're playing chess while everybody else plays checkers, and I know people ate the patriots slowly. AFC east guy, dude, I hate the patriots got to respect them. But I hate them. The league was built on parody. The schedule is set up. If you're good you play the tougher schedule. This league is setup. If you're good you draft last the league is setup at Yuqing guide. They become expensive. And you can't keep them from Sarah cap is scheduled to draft everything else. They should not be happening. It keeps happening for the patriots. And I marvel at that. Well, people hate them. I appreciate the hell out. I did too. I hate him at the same time. I respect the hell out of if you're the patriots. Because of of what they do. Here's the system. Everyone else should be parody. It should be fair. And it's not fair because you have Brady, and you have Bella check once that ban breaks up. Then it'll be interesting to see if they can continue in what happens to Bill Belichick does he fade in the sun. Does does the rest of his years is he retired? I dunno. It just seems like a guy that shift to the front office who doesn't have to deal with the Everyday's of of coaching football team. But it seems like that's the reason he exists to get up in the morning is to go coach football and lost. It all of this. I I'd be remiss we'd be remiss if I didn't mention Andrew Whitworth. For the guide the pre-game super special on wit and his family the kind of behind the scenes story of them the week of the Super Bowl was fantastic. I it's weird. I don't know that Nancy Romo mentioned Andrew Whitworth name once during the game. Then that's probably a good thing. Because he wasn't missing. You know, he wasn't giving up sacks. But I feel bad for him. He's invested so much in that was his opportunity they missed on it. I feel happy Rex Burkhead a former Bank gets a Super Bowl ring Rex Burkhead another guy saying we don't need him. He's no he's he's no good. All the cast off. He's no good. We have. Yeah. We we don't need Julian who we don't Tom Tom Brady. Tom Brady was drafted in the eighty seventh round. Who say they just do what they do. Lance mcalister tonight at six five what's on the big show on sports talk. We're going to talk a little Super Bowl tonight. And was it the most boring Super Bowl of all time. Very well have been that's what I want to talk about Lance. Thank you. Thank you out. There you go. I mean really was there anything routine about this Super Bowl you kind of wanted the Rams to win. But you knew deep down inside the patriots gonna win and you're watching this game. And it's three three up until the fourth quarter, which was incredibly boring unless you're some sort of defensive walk rocky boy, mold join later to talk about it. The fact that matter was the reason I would say the reason, but the reason a lot of people get together SuperCup because there's halftime show. And there's there's funny. Outside of the NFL one hundred ad. Did you see anything that was like? Wow. That was brilliant. That was a great ad. Because the NFL one hundred came out of nowhere. And to me in almost to the person, you talked to that was commercially. You saw like, wow, that's a good Super Bowl commercial in context was at that. Good because everything else was so bad. There are a couple memorable moments out of ads. But I don't recall any like, oh, I can't wait to see that again. Where the NFL one is. I watch that like ten times just to see who else was in. There. I.

"WFAN FM, New York theft forty-two here on this Wednesday evening. It's JJ after die chassis Stransky company right here on the fan. So I was just telling you slow a minute ago. Our good buddy James ward used to work here now is over us and why of sin at his desk. Chris gonna what was it Tuesday on allow maths James has a picture of fee and his lovely wife. You know, he's got all the usual nuances that you would have on somebody's desk. But you know, what is on his desk? A Bob Eusler bobblehead doll from Fairfield. I want one. Yeah. I'm in on that I'll say who wouldn't want to miss them at baba gave Bob a t shirt from the lookouts game. Because he always likes to shout out look out in the in the newsroom, so I think he should reciprocate and get me about Bob Buechler bobble say Fairfield has a bunch of those laying around. I mean, listen who wouldn't want Bobby is slow bobblehead? That's something forget about me. Put it on EBay. That might be one of those things that I'm an avid collector heads to. Yeah. That makes us so Bob USA bobblehead. You learn something new every day. And let me tell you. I was as hard on. Saint John's is anybody in the Tri state area after that game against Georgetown. They were pathetic. They point terribly down stretch. I was on the head coach I was hard on them. They need a win any outsourced Wakeham credit. Don't want to Creighton did what they needed to do. Now. They'd better be Creighton cranes not that good to begin with. But it's a tough place to play. You got to coming up on Saturday have fun with Ziya Williamson and RJ Barrett. And in the following game. You're at Marquette who's a top ten team in the country Saint John's needed this win in order to put themselves in NCW tournament position. A must have for Molins, boys. So a job well done. Let's said to the Bronx cardio is up next on the fan. What's up cartel? Hey, what's going on cardio? Gotta stop with this. Call and. Radio. Everybody gonna stop. There's no way Kevin Durant or a B or anybody is going to the Knicks people are forgetting no one wants to play with the Knicks management. More importantly, we'll play for someone like James Dolan guys have an opportunity to go to LA where you're gonna get paid. It's ready to win. And what's the blonde decides he wants to John and just hang out, and, you know, retire do his thing. These guys are going to take over the team. It's way too enticing. The Marco at the tax bracket is just about the same. And the weather is nice all year round who wants to come to the next. Listen, no argument there cardio. I agree with you. If I had a choice right now, plano, Los Angeles, LeBron James or common here and playing with the New York Knicks. Yeah, I'm going to choose when it's winning and winning is your number one priority, and you going out there. But again, you don't know what the mindset is for a variety of these guys, for example, Durant Durant has been accused from his Golden State days of being God. It's kind of hopping on the bandwagon. Durant? A lot of people are saying this not with Kevin Durant. I can't tell you what. Kevin Durant is going on. I have a coup, but you read in certain places that he does want to go somewhere where it's obvious where it's as clear as day. He's the alpha male. So that could work in favour cardio. I'm wicha. You're gonna be of the mindset with these big free agents on till the Knicks land guy glass-half-empty approach, I get it. But the Davis situation remember not talking about signing a free agent. Now, you're talking about a trade. Yeah. But at the same time, if you go with a trade what's going to happen. What's consistently been happened historically with the Knicks James Dolan, someone behind the scenes is gonna push the dump players? You're never going to build a team. We had an exciting. A couple of years ago. I mean granted they weren't going to be contenders. Exciting we had gallon. Doing great Sultan. They were fun team to watch. When when the heat were the heat. They were the one team giving them a fight. It was great basketball. And they would have only gotten better if Carmelo played with that too. I disagree with that caudill killed them in that deal. Not the players. They gave up. Remember, they got Raymond Felton back. Couple years later what killed them in that deal. Is they gave up draft picks that they needed down the road. What killed them with that deal? Is the fact that they brought in Shaughnessy Billups. They ended up using narrow amnesty on Chauncey Billups. They signed Tyson Chandler and in reality Amari Meyer. After that. I you know, three quarters of a year. Turned into a corpse turned into a player who is just totally shot body had broken down beyond belief. So I think that's one of the false narratives that's out there with the Carmelo Anthony trade. Yeah. I agree. You're skeptical of James Dolan. You don't feel great decade. Knicks is an organization or in a position where they're ready to land big time for agents. Only can believe what I'm reading. I know somebody view until it happens. You never going to believe I get that. But the question is with Davis. What are you giving up to make a deal? Go get him and my line in the sand is set a few minutes ago. Can't be the first to the second pick in the draft. No way. No how let's it to Kings Park. Good buddy more Cup next on a fan. Hello, mark. Jay, how are you? Mark. What's happening, buddy? So I have a couple of comments to make about the Knicks. But just real quick have you been out to the bar yet? I have not now I can tell you more before the end of this year, probably postseason time just because I got so much stuff going on the college basketball. It takes up a lot of my time. You know, I'm a big college hoops guy watching night after night after night. I will make my way to a playoff game acting NASA Coliseum if the island is are in the playoffs. You can take that to the Bank. We will make that happen. I will be out at the NASA Coliseum to experience a playoff game out there. All right. Well, when you end up going out there, let me know, maybe, you know, maybe we could meet up there, you know, 'cause I I'll be going out there, and I'm pumped I'm going on on Friday and going into Maple Leafs play. So it definitely, you know, definitely you're like pretty stoked should be listen, Mark your first place team. I now you've played great hockey over the last two and a half months to sell. You should be stoked about your team. And we'll get to many first place teams in New York. I mean, let me tell you. It's amazing teams under the radar teams that don't get a lot of attention. The island is in the nets over the last six weeks or so fantastic, fantastic work. It's been great about the Knicks man is. I really really echo the last car is first of all you can't give up any major assets unless Davis signs a long term deal. And my first question is why would he possibly sign a long term? Julia. I'll tell you. Why mark? It's very simple. Anthony Davis is not signing a long term deal unless he knows through backchannel somebody else's coming here. You know that I know it he would never in a million years. Come here. Let's say sign a contract unless he knows around the league, right? This guy is leaning towards the next that guy's leaning towards the next. And if you're gonna call me crazy instead it doesn't happen in the NBA. You know, that is not case. These guys talk these guys have relationships. So you're only making that sort deal, Mark. I'll ask, you know, first of all Davis is going to sign an extension to somebody else's coming here. And I mean like with that though, I personally wouldn't give up porzingus because I got a question his ability. Yeah, let's let's be fair. If porzingus is that as best is he as good as Anthony Davis. I say that. I mean, you can't look at porzingas. I now and say, oh, he oversaw. Now. It's gonna be a top five top seven. In the league. And look I like porzingas I'd like to get poising his back here. But I would not let Porzingis get in the way of me getting Anthony Davis. I totally agree. And I'm Sarah cap guru in the NBA, not sure how much room the Knicks would have. But would it be possible for the Knicks the somehow finagle like Kevin Durant and a Davis on the team? I think that's the idea Mark. Now, I'm pretty sure the Knicks have Nate that their top priority that they can free up enough salary cap space in order to make that happen. Now, I will agree with you. I the ignorance on not being the salary cap guru. You know, they desperately trying to jettison that Tim Hardaway junior contract. Yeah. We all said at the time, by the way, Mark was an absolute albatross. We all said, it was a horrible horrible mistake by Knicks management, given Tim Hardaway junior that money. And it's not that. He's a terrible player. He's okay. Yes. His moments of. She has moments where he can hit a shot, but he's grossly overpaid. So I hated that contract. But that's the idea that the Knicks could be big players fraternities guys during the off season. That's the idea and one other question to and I know that you're going to get into it. But. Struggle. The prophet because I did it last year. But out in jersey at the sports book, you know, if there is a profit for the color of Gatorade. Or there actually is. No, no, no, no. I could tell you for fact because I saw earlier today when I was researching for the show we're doing Friday night over this. And why yes, there is a prophet for what color. The Gatorade is going to be have some insider info on this Martin, I'm on unaware of no. Just that you know, I been playing that a couple years, and I hit it like more than I don't hit it. And I want to make sure 'cause I'm putting on hopefully getting out there on Saturday. Chuckled down on some of these projects know, 'cause you know, the odds of a safety is not, you know, it's it's great is not going to happen. But you hit on one of those van at. Well, big boy wages. Listen walk. You could go through the MVP list. There are so many names listed for the MVP. And I was watching the lock it in show. It's the first time or the second time I've ever watched it our body. Cousin Sal firm in trae clay, Travis I think Rachel bananas the host. It's great more. Basically do an hour of gambling conversation on f s one. It was a lot of fun. I flipped it on after the gym. I was wildly entertained, and they were talking about some of the crazy odds, you get with some of these players for MVP, but more both no more. The winning team whoever it's going to be who's the MVP goingto. It's gonna be the quarterback bingo. And at the quarterback, it'll be like, you know, like a running back or wide receiver defensive lineman at dominates the game. Now, listen, we saw what was it back with the Panthers and the Broncos market. I appreciate calls. Always dominated the game. I think he was like thirty two one to win the MVP. They couldn't walk news the MVP, and that was that. You gotta figure New England is going to do everything in their power to neutralize Aaron Donald. I think it's far more likely you see a big game out of Sudanese out of Donald because score. Nikki is going to prioritize with those offensive lineman all week when outland Aaron Donald beat us up the metal. So I'm curious to see how Wade Phillips going to chat a scheme around that's going to be great chess match Phillips trying to get pressure on Tom Brady mcdaniels gone Akia, China keep Brady upright and so far so good. I two games at a postseason..

"So if i were to watch an enemy right now because i've i've been studying japanese i will probably remember all the character names pretty well like it won't be difficult the people the people the characters actually had a lot of trouble rica's character named an enemy their names are going to sound like something to me okay but when we were at clyde's not too long ago we were watching him play this korean horror game and old white day yeah and the thing is i could not remember any of their names even know like i could read them they weren't bad hardlooking but the second they went away gone and the thing is your brain wants to remember what it thinks is important and if you're interpreting summoning something as gibberish at and it's just like i don't know what that means you can adjust filter through it doesn't matter now is that game in japanese so i thought it was not screen it was always korean early speaking korean all time i don't remember if there was no sarah capped i know is set in south korea but i couldn't remember if the games um dialogue was in doubt on out at lag could read it so it must have been english i don't remember any audio right now boy i don't even remember at the i don't know i was i don't care was audio honestly at and i was so scared martin i can't remember at the point is their names were in korean so i couldn't remember them but if their names were japanese i would have rolling the they were there is spelled in korean okay you ever korean names yucca i guess that oh i guess they would be korea names even if the game was in japanese the that i think about it i don't i don't remember there being audio the point is that it is going to be very hard to remember things that your brain doesn't even bother to interpret or can't leaked so they're in korean also for example there are a couple of continents and i don't know them and can't pronounce them so i probably can't speak rian right now but if i tried to speak korean without ever learning the difference between these two continents and they're so close that an englishspeaker will likely not you're the difference until they've learned to hear the difference.
