"Yeah, I mean, if you're a saquon Barkley, you were hoping to get an opportunity to look at the market, find yourself with the contender under a contract that you like, but they prioritized the quarterback. They wanted to make sure they got Daniel Jones deal done. Now you look at the deal if it's four for one 60 at its base, that's 40 million a year. That's a little bit above what I think Daniel Jones is worth, but if you believe that this is your guy going forward if Daniel Jones and throwing 15 touchdowns, cutting down on the turnovers, getting you to the divisional round of the playoffs is exactly what you needed to see, then the New York Giants went out and did exactly what they felt. They needed to do. Now keeping both of their young stars on the offense. It's about how you build their own Daniel Jones going forward. You've now given him that second deal. It's not one of those deals that totally blows your salary cap. So can Daniel Jones take that next step and be worth the money that I think they're paying him over what he's earned up to this point. That's the important part for the New York Giants. Well, you're going to overpay for the quarterback. And that's just the way it is in today's world. The Baltimore Ravens ain't overpaying her. Not just. That's it. We'll see. But here's the situation with Daniel Jones. I think he's sitting in a good spot and I think they believe this. And RC mentioned the numbers. He's ascending in the right direction. I think they look at him. Can he become like Lawrence and Herbert and Jalen hurts? Is he going to ascend that way? And I think only they know. They're there every day in the building with him. They watch him practice. The guy's been there for 5 years, hasn't said anything. He's a good leader. He's a big quarterback. This is not a small man. He can run. He has a lot of talent and they're betting on the talent and when you're the Giants, you get to try to keep both of your stars on offense and you found a way to do it. Man. A lot of money. Josh. You mentioned that 5th year option being declined earlier, the economics on that, a little over $22 million at the Giants would have had Daniel Jones for next year, instead he gets up to a 195 million bucks. Let's walk saquon Barkley as while Daniel Jones had his breakout year. Saquon Barkley had a bounce back season himself after being limited to 15 games in preview in the previous two seasons, Barclay played 16 games in 2022 while recording for twice as many rush yards as he had in the previous two seasons combined. He finished a league with the fourth most rushing yards, but also recording ten rushing touchdowns. Your thoughts on the giant's franchise tagging saquon Barkley showed a long-term deal to be a priority right now. He's running back. History of this young man. He's a fantastic player. Not always available. And that is the problem with running things. You have to be available. And when you're not available, that's a concern. And he wasn't available at times in college. He's coming to the National Football League. He's played two complete seasons of every game. Other than that, he's missed some games. Not a lot of games, but you have to be available. The bottom line, and when you play a running back, you have to show up. I mean, that's part of the deal, right? And so I think this is why they chose to go in the direction that they did with the quarterback and with the runner. I'll tell you what the difficult spot that this puts the Giants in right now are sacrum Barkley actually. The franchise tech for a running back is just over $10 million. That is lower, lower than what the Giants I'm told were offering saquon Barkley on a multiyear deal. And so the franchise tag leverage shifts to the Giants here because whereas they had an offer on the table, the franchise tag is worth even less than what they were offering before. And that's why if your shake bomb Barkley, you can't be pleased about today's developments knowing how much you've meant to the franchise. I mean, just think about this. Take one Barkley is an incredible player. Daniel Jones has been a really good quarterback. Daniel Jones deal comes in at an average of about $40 million a year. We'll see the fine print of that contract. The franchise tag for secret. I'm Barkley, is 10 million. So Daniel Jones 40, saquon ten. I know that that's what the football world is. Does that make sense? The thing is this, right? We understand how the NFL sees running backs. They think that finding a running back is easier than finding a quarterback that a quarterback that becomes your franchise guy is worth that money and positionally that is true. We haven't seen the running back necessarily on his own. Take his team to the Super Bowl but when you look at the resurgence of the New York Giants, that coincided with the resurgence of saquon Barkley and so I know for the Giants it was about keeping him. Now you want to see if they're using that franchise tag a good faith of negotiations or if they're using that franchise tag as leverage. Well, RC, that franchise tag for a running back has become a weapon for teams. Because we saw 6 players tagged three of them are running backs. Three giants tagged broccoli, the cowboys tag Tony Powell, the Raiders tagged Josh Jacobs. So as much as running backs value around the league has taken a hit, team still see value in placing the franchise tag on a great running back as is evident by what happened here in the past week. Worth noting are Jordan ranan, who covers the Giants as an excellent job, has suggested in the past ten minutes that a deal for saquon could be around the corner a long-term extension to keep him with the G men. And speaking of saquon, and he's happy for his guy, he had this to say on Twitter about Daniel Jones, congrats butter to Daniel Jones ten, who I don't think Daniel Jones spends too much time on Twitter, but if he does, he will now have a shout out from his guy, say Quan Barkley. "Seahawks gave Geno Smith a three year deal and this is a win win because I looked at Geno Smith and I thought, all right, I had a really good year, 17 starts, 30 touchdown passes, 11 interceptions, led the league in completion percentage, career backup, and he is revitalized his career in Seattle, and I thought, okay, do something smart. And find that kind of middle ground that safe landing for everybody. And I always go back to a quarterback like Mitchell trubisky. If trubisky said to the bears, pay me $28 million a year, $30 million a year. Give me three years for $95 million. Give me 60 guaranteed. He'd still be there. Now you might say they're better off with Justin Fields, but I'm just talking about from the quarterbacking standpoint. When you go, hey, I'm next up. I want 45. I want 50. All I want to do is find a safe landing area where I can continue to be a starting quarterback, get great money, life-changing money without going to a backup role with somebody else. And you know, it feels team friendly. But Seattle had the leverage here because they could say to genome, we got a top 5 draft pick. We are going to use that on a quarterback. And they might use that on a quarterback because who knows the next time they'll be up in that area. Of the draft. But for Geno, take the money, get the money, guaranteed money, you can be the starting quarterback for at least two more years. Maybe you're going to outplay the numbers in your contract. Maybe you would get another contract after this. But don't, it's like Daniel Jones with the Giants. Daniel Jones should be looking at that safe soft landing area. Not $45 million a year. Would I pay that based off one really good year? No. I wouldn't. Now, do I franchise him and say, all right, let me see you do it again. Even if you gave him the non exclusive and you paid him 32 million is somebody going to sign him to a deal and then give you two first round draft picks for Daniel Jones. I don't think so. Therefore, I'd say to Daniel Jones, we'd still like you to be our starting quarterback, but we don't want to pay you what is commensurate to some of the great quarterbacks of the game. You've got to make it a little team friendly. Now I'm all for the player getting whatever they can get, but you got to be smart in a situation like this because you don't want to price yourself out of a starting job. "It's recognizing the golden child Tessa. That's that has been an overhang. You know, because of the Twitter spider web. Dan, do they have to come out with new models? The original Model S isn't that the same as it's been for ten years. And they all look like that. Do they need to come up with anything? How do they talk about that? Well, they do because then you start to get into four 1919 going into 1927 where GM basically overtook them because they worked in innovate. I think if you look, the CyberTruck coming out later this year. I think potentially an SUV, you know, in terms of some of the roadster and some others, they're going to need to expand that from a penetration perspective. But then you take a step back. We are in the early days of the biggest transmission to the auto industry since 1950s. I mean, the CyberTruck will be huge when it comes out. It's just a bummer that it keeps getting delayed and delayed and delayed and everybody else gets to some extent in advantage the Ford has gotten great reviews. Paul loved it. It looks very traditional. The Chevy seems like it's going to be even better. The GMC Hummer is like on another level. The CyberTruck could be a better product than all of those, but it's just coming so many years late that everybody with a $150,000 to spend an electric truck has already done it. "Now this Bloomberg sports update, the jets and the Giants are both in very precarious positions as they pursue their playoff options. The jets go first on Sunday, they'll host the Lions Detroit's playing for something. They're trying to work their way into the NFC playoff picture. The jets well. They're worried about the AFC playoff scenarios right now and they're worried about what kind of production they'll get at quarterback from Zach Wilson. Wilson's been benched for three games and now with the Mike white injury that puts Wilson front and center under center for the jets against Detroit. Again, it's a 1 o'clock kick on Sunday. The Giants and the commanders will butt heads again. They'll go prime time 8 20 kick-off at FedEx field, the commanders and the Giants last time they've met. It was a 20 to 20 tie. That was back on December 4th, so the commanders are 5 one and one since Tyler henneke replaced Carson Wentz. They're on the upswing giants are hoping that saquon Barkley is healthy and if they get him healthy and they're running game gets back in sync, then they become a much more dangerous team. Of course, the Giants defense has been banged up lately. In the NFL on Saturday, the biggest comeback ever was turned in by the Minnesota Vikings. They were down 33 nothing in the third quarter to the colts. And then everything flipped. Final score 39 36 the Vikings win in OT and they wrap up the NFC north with the victory. And again, if I pull up the spreadsheet, the luck adjusted point differential spreadsheet, or as it's better known by its acronym Kingsbury, this would the Vikings have basically no luck. And when I say no luck, I don't mean good luck. I don't mean bad. I mean, they're right even. This is where they should be. As far as their performance goes so far in these games, when it comes to stuff like fourth and short conversions, fourth and short convergence allowed. Red zone efficiency opponent kicker performance at this point. All that stuff basically adds up to a wash for them and they're where they rank in the list here. They're 7th right now. Which, yeah, that's so that's about 5 and one four and two, but you do raise a good point. And I hate to kind of overrate strength of schedule because everyone's pretty good in the NFL. No one's that bad. There's no we just played Vanderbilt now in alcorn state and UMass and those are our wins. But those are really, those are among teams they beat. Yeah, I mean, the lines are one in four, the bears are maybe the second worst team in the NFL. And you gave up 22 points. I don't know, man. Almost 200 yards passing to Justin Fields and they don't really allow him to throw the ball. So, I don't know. I mean, yes, Vikings were aware that you're 5 and one. We're very happy for you. If I'm looking if I'm gonna do a Mike franza and go down the rest of this schedule, I would imagine that you're gonna finish with a pretty good record, right? So they're coming off the buy, you figure they'll beat the Cardinals to go 6 and one, the commanders to go 7 and one. Then you have that tough stretch. We have the bills, the cowboys, the Patriots, the jets. Even if you come through there eating three, they have the Lions again, you have the colts, the Giants, the packers and the bears. It's like, no one's gonna stop you. You're probably gonna get like what a 6 seed? Look at the packers don't get themselves right. You're gonna win the win that division. Yeah. That's true. And then the packers get the 6 seed and boy with that suck for someone to have to play them in the first round of the playoffs. The other team I wanna compare the 22 Vikings to is the 2021 Vikings who of course, when 8 9 and I've talked about it on the show and I've been fortunate enough to be on his podcast, ty shelter, who doesn't work for 5 38, keeps track every year of the coin flip wins. We kind of overrate one possession games because if you were trailing by 17 and scored some garbage points and got to within 8 or whatever it is, you now played in one session game, even though you really didn't have a great chance to win. The coin flip games are when probability is 60 40 or closer in the last 5 minutes. Last year the Vikings went three and three in those games. They finish 8 and 9. This year they're two and O, they would be three zero if you threw the bears game in there, the bears actually was just outside that window just outside that 5 minute window when it was within the 60 40 stretch there. So you could say there are three and zero and coin flips this year. They were three and three in coin flips a year ago. If they lose three coin flips coming up, then you're 5 and four, which is probably about what you are as a team. Right. So what you're saying is, I'm right, leave us alone, Dave. And Vikings fans just, you know, this is what I say to everybody. Enjoy your time. You know, enjoy, enjoy the time, don't be a dick because, you know what's gonna happen is eventually you're the Vikings, right? Like it's all, it's all gonna come back to the fact that you're the Vikings. Everything regresses to the mean. So this is from Chris. Who's the more valuable trade piece for the Panthers who, of course, are coming up on fire sale season as we get toward the trade deadline. Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore, or Brian burns. I'll let you go first. 'cause that's a tough question. I don't think it is. But I'll say this first and I have a great amount of appreciation for I think it was good morning football. And them and Peter schrager was saying, you know, the Christian McCaffrey's on the block and he's like, this isn't gonna be a fire sale. He's like, they're talking multiple first round picks for these guys. And I was like, I'm sure that that information was accurate was reported accurately. I don't deny that. What I think we should do is try to get inside the head of Scott fitter here and think, do you really think you're getting multiple first round picks for Christian McCaffrey? DJ Moore? Do we really think that we're getting a windfall of talent to come from here? I'm sure here's what I'm sure of. I'm sure David tepper went into that room and was like, you better get a lot of picks for these guys or else you're in trouble. I'm sure it was then communicated backwards through the media that way. But boy, howdy. This is not gonna be, you know, he's going into it like I go into every garage sale, right? Which is like, oh, I'm gonna make enough money to go on vacation. And then after the garage here, you're like, we might be able to go out to dinner, you know? Maybe. This is how it works, you know? No one wanted this old stapler? You kidding me? $7. What does this taper cost nowadays? So look, we're here in the northeast. We're in kind of giants country and we had some of these questions thrown at us from friends and loved ones about saquon Barkley and like, oh, well, John, they just trade saquon for one right now. It's like, well, there's no little pay it, but also sure they would. I'm not sure saquon Barkley gets a one right now, even though he's a legitimate offensive player that your candidate in the NFL at this point. He's having a great season. He will, I'm sure, have a couple of good years left in him, but that's just the way it goes. Well, let me put it this way, though. Who would you, who would you anticipate they would get the most for? I'd say Brian burns once because he is, and I'd even argue Brian burns is probably the least proven commodity of the three, but it's just such a rarity to find a young passer like that. The other issue with him is he is finishing up. This is why last year of his rookie deal, then there's the option year. I should have looked this up before we started having the conversation. I'm going to say that and then I'll correct it if it needs to be corrected in a few minutes. Yeah, so he'll have a 2019 draft pick, so 1920 21, 22, and then 23 is his option here. So if you trade for him, you're going to have to pay him as well. That has not deterred some teams in the past, but you trade firm than you pay for him in two ways at this point. DJ Moore is, he's look, he got one of those deals before the big wide receiver boom, so he's all of a sudden on a pretty team friendly deal at this point. And then, yeah, McCaffrey, who probably you'd feel best about plugging him into your lineup. And as you have said, come to the year, the check down is becoming more and more prevalent across the NFL, he is obviously a huge check down weapon he is playing on a team that does not have quarterbacks who effectively check down. So he might take off somewhere else. He might be someone saquon Barkley, if he lands in the right spot. But yeah, I probably order in that with burns

"Well, this was a fun one for the show, Connor. Boy, abracadaniel recovers from a bad red zone interception. It sort of got beat up some protection issues, Jeffrey Simmons, boy. Jeffrey Simmons is quite the player. If I do say so, but this ends up being Daniel Jones getting it done in the end and saquon Barkley pretty much looking like what saquon Barkley was supposed to be coming into the NFL. Can you imagine a more satisfied person on earth right now today than saquon Barkley? I thought you were going to say Dave gettleman. No. No, because here's the thing. Saquon Barkley ended up sort of dying for Dave gettleman since, right? Yeah. Dave gettleman drafted saquon Barkley as the capstone of this masterpiece that had no foundation or no blueprint or no plan. He was just like here. A franchise running back. Now, now it's working. And every giant's coach that came after that was like, why didn't he help us out with anything else? Like Quinton Nelson, could I please have Quinton Nelson? But Brian dabel was the first coach to look at this and just be like, all right, you know, this isn't going to be great, but we're going to be able to get him in some space. We're going to be able to move him around. And that's exactly what they did. They got him involved, and they utilized him as a really fast and strong 225 pound person who can beat you with athleticism. What a novel concept. Long plays, big plays, two from Barkley, one long touchdown to Sterling shepherd, and they just kind of hung around. The defense is still not particularly good, but they were certainly good enough to keep this one from getting out of hand. I mean, it was a 13 zero game and that they came back and obviously they win it late. On a two point conversion and then get a little bit of help from a good old Randy Bullock. Pulling that kick. But yeah man, this is satisfying and again, like on top of sigma Barkley, you had kadir's Tony not terribly involved in the office, but when he was, it was just kind of like, wow, this guy is really difficult to tackle. You know, they had sort of a broken wide receiver option pass where he turned it into a 5 yard gain where a lot of guys would have either thrown an interception or, I don't know, lost 11 yards on the play. So Watson neat stuff here. Was he worth the first round pick? I mean, that's not that's not for me to say, right? And this is a really difficult place to judge him because of the regime that he came in with. All that kind of stuff. I don't know if he was the first round receiver or not. I'm not, you know, I'm not angry scout. I don't know these things with absolute certainty. But what I do know is that all these players were used situationally the way that we all assumed they would have been used when they were drafted.

Daniel jones playing like one of the ten best quarterbacks in the nfl you really is developing into a good player. Kenny golladay when we saw him screaming on the sidelines in washington. A few weeks ago wasn't yelling. At daniel jones yelling jason garrett in own i think all the frustration was directed towards the offensive coordinator it slowly and surely he starting to allow some of these like little moments bleed into the game plan to saquon barkley. Long reception was obviously one where you know. He took some player input. That was that was long gain. That sake wanted told him. They're covering me this way. You know there's going to be a soft spot in the defense you go back to that shot later in the game. I think he's moving him around a little bit more and he's allowing daniel jones kenny golladay to develop that that trust in bonn which is this is why you paid for him in the first place. Would you play saquon barkley and week one. If he's healthy. Assume you know. I've always wondered why. Why sit some guy week. One and also their plan. You know week to their full. Go what what's happening and that one or two weeks after his head you know Ten months to recover. So i know the giants will be sparked. And do it's right but if he's rain to play i think you've got to get them out there getting reps and whether he's a starter where you might not get thirty carries week one but you know just to get them in the game. Get his confidence going. Get his feel back going catching the football field and the rush taken a hit. All those things need to happen. A little bit for him Just to get back in the feel of things. So he's such a dominant player They need him To be successful this year running. The football catching the football. NBA Draft 2019: Latest 1st-Round Order, Predictions
"And ladies and gentlemen, we have a new mock draft out Mel kiper Jr's three point. Oh is here with us. And we are looking forward to the draft. Mel will join us in just about an hour to talk about the new mock draft. But there have been some changes in the draft specifically one less quarterback. Now going in the first round then in mel's two point oh mock draft. So we have four in the two point oh mock draft with Daniel Jones from Duke rounding out of the last pick of the draft to the patriots in the first round of thirty two. There are only three quarterbacks now in the first round, according to mel's latest mock. And obviously a retirement might be a big reason why and the quarterbacks have changed as well. Right. As far as where they're they're going. Well, Cuyler he still has Tyler going number one derozan. Well in his last draft Cuyler going number thirteen to the dolphins. So now and this draft he hasn't going number one. He had. Dwayne Haskins going number six at a giant Kyle Murray. Going number thirteen to the to the dolphins. Drew lock going fifteen to the Redskins and Daniel Jones going thirty two to the patriots. So as you mentioned Daniel Jones now out of the first round, according to the latest mock draft by Mel kiper, just three quarterbacks Murray number one. The main says Dwayne Haskins at number six, and you start to hear reports that the giants may go defense was six and then was seventeen go quarterback. But right now twain Haskins at six and then drew lock sitting there at number thirteen for the dolphins. Does the only three quarterbacks in this latest first round. Yeah. Going to be very interesting because we know what the giants listen one thing. Dave Gettleman has made very clear he does not feel beholden to tell us his plan. And so I don't feel overly beholden to believe. A lot of what we're hearing coming out of the giants can't because if you've got a guy who's basic messages trust me, I got this. Well, then we understand he doesn't feel like he has to tell us the truth. So as we hear these things. Coming out. We also understand this time of year is about deception to an extent it's trying to manipulate the draft order trying to manipulate the opinions of certain players. So that you can try and put yourself in the best position to get the guys you ultimately want. So it makes it difficult to try and read the tea leaves it is although I have to say on cattlemans behalf. He said all of last spring saquon Barkley is a generational talent with the second overall pick. And that's where he went. Look, I think we all agreed. There has to be a quarterback in the giants future. Are you close enough in quarterbacks where if you don't get one you try and get the other? But we'll see we'll see, you know, one of the biggest changes in from the last two this for Mel was they had the patriots taken Daniel Jones a quarterback, and this one I serve Smith junior the tight end from Alabama going, and that would not be shocking at all you have really three out of the top tight end Hopkinson the kid from Iowa teammate, Noah Fant, and then Smith junior all three likely to go in the first round a three first round tight end to on the same team come on. And what would that tell you as we saw? The patriots jump into the first round and take a running back and Sony Michelle at the end of that. And now to see in the next year three tight ends going. We've talked about this. However, you want to split it. Last year were Quinton Nelson. Went in the top ten in the draft as an offensive guard. We saw roquan Smith going the top ten as a middle linebacker. The middle of the field is worthy. NFL is being built right now. And other teams are starting to catch up to what the patriots have done for years. The way that we've seen teams export that specific area and three tight ends in the first round would hammer that home not denying that. They are guys that are certainly probably more talented than usual tight end groups. We're used to seeing but it's also about value. It's why you see running back taking it to overall by the giants last year. I mean, the other thing is I think they're more interior linemen in this first round then quarterbacks right? Like, a not tackles guards and centers. There are more of those according to males latest mock than there are actual quarterbacks being taken which would be very unusual. So the top five in this new draft that Mel kiper put out is Kylie Murray. Number one of the cardinals Nick both the D N number two to the forty Niners. Number three. Josh Allen the outside backing backer pass rusher going to the jet number four Cornyn Williams. To the raiders and number five guy making a pretty big jump. Here's here's what I wanted to talk to Mel about and one of the issues that I have laid on me big fella with with this draft comes, you know, some some point and one of them is there are few prospects in new first round projection who are making their debuts because of their combine performances. There are four guys who have jumped into mel's first round who weren't out there before again based on the combine combine performances. I don't understand that. I don't I don't understand that. If you wanna say. You looked at the combine to go back and look at tape of them. But to say, they're combine performance jumped them up that doesn't compute to me. Well, I think that's I think that's the assumption though, is because of their performance you went back and look and that. That's fair. That's why I want to ask them. How did this? Make you go back and study them more. Because if you're just basing things off the combine I got a real issue with that. Yeah. I I don't think you would do that or teams. But at the same time, you look at the positions of the majority of the players that would be involved in that. And I think this could be true for teams as well. It's interior offense. It is right. Three interior offensive linemen Terry McLaren the wide receiver, but when it comes to interior offensive lineman. You wanna talk about an area where the scouting grossly lags behind to actually great and overall draft. It's a difficult area for a lot of people to see and understand because you don't have the benefit of a lot of stats. You don't have the benefit of even the combine members necessarily always translating to production. So when those guys go and they paying and they flag in the model somewhere for what they do at the combine. And then you go back and spend some more time looking at a guy like Lindstrom who wasn't going to be a big name. He wasn't like, you know, Gary bradberry from North Carolina State won the Remington award this year. Like that guy was a stud Boston College was a middling. Okay. ACC team this year. So Lindstrom wasn't getting the credit. He deserved even being as good as he is. So you go back now, and even these NFL teams, maybe we're late to the party on some of these guys all of a sudden start giving them an extra. That's why I want to ask I just wanna make sure with Mel that because I'm just reading from the combine performance, and again, let's put a name. To those you mentioned McLaren the wide receiver who is one of the others. Chris Lynch reminder, you just mentioned from Boston College now. Number twenty one to Seattle Eric McCoy interior linemen going number twenty two to Baltimore. Right and the Garrett bradberry. The Senator from North Carolina State who is you mentioned one the Remington award is the best center in the country number thirty one to the LA Rams where they have an aging center, and John John Sullivan. And that was that was one of the things have been saying for the Rams the last couple of years that dynasties been built on the interior. If you land a guy like that good, Lord or you winning out it is. So we'll see how that plays out. And I have no desire for Greg Williams to remain the long-term coach Gregg Williams. I think he's about as old school is old school gets and he referred to some advanced analytics this week. And I almost was brought to tears Sam because well, I think I think that all sports need to have a good balance between old school scouting and new school analytics you'll so many old school football guys are so hesitant look where we are in baseball. Now. Right. The sport is completely run. Everybody has an analytics department in basketball and football is dragging their feet a little bit more in some organizations, but the here an old school coach like Greg Williams referred to some advanced analytics. That was that was wild for me to hear it must have. I don't know if you heard it. But it probably would've made you happy. If you did. Yeah. I think you're right football is behind baseball. And how that kind of stuff is gone, but everybody understands that it can help you how you present it to all of these people know, so head coaches are often the last guy to get on board. But it's because you need to present it to them in in the right away. Now, there's a ton of ways that say the PS database can help is those guys. But if you come to them initially where you know, something they don't wanna hear they're not going to buy. But if you immediately show them something, you know, a fancy pretty grasp the chosen exactly what they've been saying for years, suddenly they're all on board. So I think a lot of teams the league you're just starting to sort of see this time where the analytics guys or people that have been using the stuff within the Bill. Building for years are finally starting to figure out how to present it to coaches added presented to general manager is and you know, the guys bad again in front of the media. And that's when you're starting to see this filter out. I think it's been used a lot within the building for years already. But now we're starting to see those guys use it on a daily basis and get the headline stuff sent to them in a way that they're they're much more comfortable with gesturing at an and actually taking it on board. We're talking with Sam Monson pro football focus lead analysts Sam. Baker Mayfield has had a tremendous season. As a rookie as put up some big old school numbers if you will. But when when you went from a pro football, focus perspective when you guys run the numbers on what he's done. How would how does he great out compared to some other rookie quarterback's of the past? Yeah. I think you do need to go to quarterbacks with a pass because he hadn't shoulders above any other rookie season right now. He's a top ten grade quarterback in the NFL. He's tense overall. Just one physician behind Russell Wilson. So you're already talking about it really really well graded player right off the five. And obviously pro football focus was very high invade your Mayfield coming out were the guy is the winter by for him saying that he was the best prospect in this draft in it really wasn't close to the next guy. I think so far. That's that is being born out. We have seen better performances in the past rookies. I think that twenty twelve season was a pretty incredible year for rookie performances. Obviously it didn't last because RG three in particular had a phenomenal season that year, and then tours and really hasn't been the same player since. But you know, Baker Mayfield is looking as good as we've seen any rookie quarterback. Look probably dating by twenty twelve season. We're seeing some really impressive play from him. And I think his play generally has been better than even the statistics suggest because you had one of the highest rates in the NFL right five and drop rates. And unlike most of the times when a receiver drops the ball, it's an incomplete passes. It's not doing that much damage to your passer rating, or whatever but Baker mayfield's have multiple assets that have been hit his receivers and my hands and ended up as interceptions. So those are taking a sledgehammer to operating over the course of the season. It's ninety three. Point four right now. And this is a season where passing is exploded operating ninety three point four is nice great at the moment. But it's his performance has been way better than that. We're talking with Sam Monson lead analyst pro football, focus Sam, let's talk about another rookie and that saquon Barkley who probably be battling Baker Mayfield for rookie of the year. From an offensive standpoint. There's been other good rookie running back but saquon Barkley make over two thousand total yards this season. How does he compare to Todd Gurley Leonard four nets and some of the other big rookie seasons from running backs? Yeah. I mean saquon Barkley just moved into first edition CFS running back rankings. He's the the number one guy right now through the through part of the season. He's been incredible. He's been everything that everybody who was championing him saying he would be coming out. I think he's been better than we thought. He might be there. The idea that he was a perfect running back prospect that don't think really holds up work holes in his game in particular. This tendency to to be a bit. Reggie Bush in terms of wanting to balance everything outside to look for that clay, but he's gotten a lot better in his first year at not doing that at taking ugly yards when they're there. And that's all there to be had. And it's still maximizing goes explosive plays getting huge games. Those are there. So he has been fantastic. I think again he's been as good as any rookie running back the receipt for a number of years. Really? He's I guess he's played as well. As Alvin Kamara did last year as a rookie on he's done more fulltime base. So he already has you know, two hundred more snaps than Kamara managed all last season playing that same kind of rate is Amari Cooper. Has memorial Cooper's play been much better. Or is just a the players around him made him much better. I think it's a bit of both, you know, playing wide receiver it so difficult to play. Well, if the ball isn't coming in your direction off the ball is coming in your direction in attachable manner. Having you can do about it. There's only so much fancy route running against air. You can do if the ball isn't coming your way. So I think we're seeing Amari Cooper was always a quality route runaround player that would get consistently open. And now we're seeing what happens when you target that guy. He's still a very good player and I play put up big numbers. And obviously, that's that's meaning that his greatest better because he's being given the ball and that talent is being maximized. So you know, I think that that was always there that that talent that play was always inherited his game. Even in Oakland. The raiders just weren't making use of it. We're talking with Sam Monson pro football focus lead analyst. Sam. I know you guys today had an article about projecting Cuyler Murray's pro potential. I'm curious because obviously he's a top ten pick and major league baseball. He's giving compared to Ricky Henderson. He signed a four and a half million dollar bonus. There would have to give it back obviously at a even a better year than Baker Mayfield did this past year in college, which is hard to believe. But obviously, you know, people make a thing about the thing about Baker mayfield's hike, which I thought was over rated. But obviously calamari isn't even close those big as as Baker Mayfield. A what is his potential d do you think he could be a good NFL quarterback? I think he could be, you know, you're right people that the highest the big question Mark because people did make an issue out of Baker Mayfield. Tighter on Baker Mayfield is short for an NFL quarterback. But not, you know, it's not unprecedented. We've seen quarterbacks Baker Mayfield type successful in the past. They're not obviously, not as many as there are as you know, six with three quarterbacks, but those guys have existed and they've been good in the past. I don't I don't know that we've ever seen quarterback that is Kyla Murray's Hite house significant success at the end up, right? You know, he is going to be when we get the official number on him. If it ever gets that far he's going to be significantly shorter than even a guy like Russell Wilson. And you would be in legitimately uncharted territory. When it comes to that. Now, if you're going to do that, you have to be there has to be something else to say, well, okay. That's not going to be a problem because of this and his grading has been incredible. His is great this season at Oklahoma has been basically everything is as as good. As Baker mayfield's grade had been on that was the best we've ever seen from a quarterback, right? The best seasons we've ever seen at college with one of his own. So he has a level of the best play. We've ever seen coming out of college from a college quarterback. And we've been doing this going back to two thousand fourteen but we've seen some pretty good quarterbacks over that's fine. You know, we went back, and we also graded James Winstons freshman seasons. We have got Carson Wentz you got Jared Goff. We've got right. And they got all these guys and Carl Amari stacks up to those guys. Sorry.

I on Friday when he was limited in practice, and it sounded like there wasn't a ton of information around it. But sounded like not a lot of concern. Either though exactly because they didn't end up on the pre-game injury report that's filed on Friday evenings. And then on. Saturday. We found out ruled out for the music fan. So it's hard to know because of the bizarre way in which it came about just how serious this is. But so stay tuned all they were saquon Barkley fourteen for one seventy on the ground with a touchdown for the Redskins. Mark Sanchez has been benched in favor of Josh Johnson. I think was quarterback three on the week, which is just ridiculous. And then he watched Madden to get to know his teammates. Quote from the post game yet. That's why you would get the number one overall pick this supposed to be doing. Now, some people say, well, Stephen they wanted as opposed to do I agree with that. What are you supposed to do if L Beckham was targeted eleven? By the way, and all you have four receptors seventy three yards albeit touchdowns, but Beckham Julia and saquon Barkley out on a field, you should be trying to win football games. Ohio State football has everything at stake against Penn State
"We got Penn State Ohio State this weekend, and it's a playoff game. It is, what do you expect? Well, and to your point, people always like expand the playoff and go to eighteen sixteen teams. Dak Prescott of Dallas Cowboys rises to 'challenge' vs. New York Giants
"New York following Sunday night football tonight. Dallas Cowboys in the New York Giants both teams coming in at all in one both teams trying to avoid that dreaded Owen to Mark. And both teams coming in after being bit offense challenged in week number one. How would this one play out? Well for the Dallas Cowboys who struggled to score points against Carolina Panthers last week. It was not going to be the same this week. In fact, it took them only three plays on their opening drive to show everyone that this was going to be a little bit different breast got under center. Play action sets the throw look at the table in Austin. Got it. Sixty four Prescott to the speed. Tabloids on top six. So a six nothing lead. Just three plays in a sixty four yard touchdown pass. And a quick just a little bit more than ninety seconds as it turned out before the Dallas Cowboys had the lead in this game. Extra point was good. They had themselves a seven nothing lead. The offense wasn't really necessarily the story for Dallas in the first half. It was more the defense. They shut the giants down. The giants were unable to do anything offensively throughout the entire of that first half. Dallas added a field goal. Also in that first quarter at the end of a sixty four yard drive and had a ten nothing lead after one. It was the same ten nothing lead. If they ended up having at halftime in this ball game James came out with the opening kick off the second half and tried to get something going offense after putting up to seventy nine yards in the first half. However, Dallas Dallas's defense which had given manning fits in the first half continue to do so right after halftime Barkley motion to the right side of manning who creep in towards the line now back up clapping for the snap raising. His right foot off gets the shotgun. Snap. Head high pressure companies loose out. It's coming up by the Cowboys taco Charlton scoops up the loose ball after Damian Wilson. Manning up. Albouy sack this one results in a turnover and Dallas has the football inside the giant thirty. Turned out. The Brett Maher would hit a second field goal as a result of that turnover. His second of the game a twenty nine yard and few minutes into the third quarter was thirteen to nothing Dallas on top giant struggled to get offense going as we said all night long, the main safety valve rely was saquon Barkley as it turned out do end up getting targeted sixteen times out of the backfield at fourteen catches for eighty yards on the night. Early in the fourth quarter early in that fourth quarters. They took over the eighteen yard line. The giants were looking to hold defensively down just by nine. But Dallas was methodical. Dallas was strong running the football. Dallas was also led by their quarterback. Dak Prescott downfield in a fourteen play drive that took almost eight and a half minutes remaining in the game off the clock. And it was their bread truck. Ultimately put this game away third and two at the six Prescott the gift to Ezekiel Elliott breaks, the tackle. Elliot. Touchdown. Tackle up. Corinne, Mark on the right side left. Dovan for six nineteen to three Dallas what five forty five to go. Not a huge statistical game Zeke. You'll Elliott seventeen carries. Seventy eight yards with that touchdown as we said, basically put it away with by forty five left to go. The extra point made it at twenty two three ballgame. This is when New York finally found its offensive sea legs and moved the ball down the field. Although his Jason pointed out that especially quickly in the closing minutes of his game down by seventeen points. It was an eleven play seventy five yard drive. They didn't use their timeouts. It took the more than four minutes to get it done. And Eli manning finally found the end zone about as open as you can along the right hash. Manning drops the drill pressure coming throws over little wide open. His tight end. Evan. In the middle of the end zone. And it's a touchdown Ingram with his first touchdown grab of the year. He manning what his first touchdown pass and an easy voter Ingram to keep the giants. Live hopes alive into the end zone for the first time that I now down twenty two. What it meant was New York could recover the next onside kick it would have an opportunity maybe for hail Mary to the end zone and a miracle comeback to get the game tie roses.
