"Fire driven by dry vegetation, very thick, dense vegetation that hasn't burned. Several decades. And of course, it's dried out even more. So, with the recent high temperatures and low relative humidities we've seen Now we have the report just now. I'm saying that this is a huge calm of smoke. That's going up 30,000 feet high. Now, when I hear that, I think, yeah, it sounds pretty bad, but if it's going straight up, it means the winds aren't a huge factor. It's not really wind driven, and that could be one of the most hazardous things we're talking about when there's a fire, so Is that reason to be a little bit optimistic that this isn't just spreading wildly out of control and a huge, rapid right right now. That's correct. It's much different in the type of fires we see during our Santa Ana winds season that our wind driven, However, there is there is a pretty light, consistent wind between like six miles per hour in about 12 miles per hour, especially on the ridge tops were exposed to the wind. But again, there's there's not many good control points such as roads and freeways that we would normally have. So it's just continuous vegetation and very steep terrain, which actually helps the fire one faster. What can you tell us about the town of LA accuse people under this evacuation order? It seemed that this fire was burning away from the town itself. But could that change? Yeah, very.

COVID-19 Impact and Recovery
"All right gentlemen welcome to the show. This has been a long time in the making this particular episode as you both know, we've been dialoguing over the the you know through email after the first covid type production I put together, which was in a Web webinar format. We decided to do this when Moore's a prerecorded livestream instead of doing the Webinar format because. There's a ton of things that we need to talk about and I just think this format makes more sense to get the information out. So I would think both you guys for coming on the show and covering this with me from the standpoint of having much more knowledge about it than I do. So which is which is important. Marcucci when it started just with some some introductions, obviously I did the brief introduction in the open there. But just a more personal introduction mark. Let's start with you who is Mark Fujio, and Why are you on the show today? Let's talk about that and then we'll go to you vincent. Okay. So I. Talk about how we've been friends for a decade if you want. Okay. Yeah. So Yeah I. was going to lead into that the I've been involved in all sorts of different You're leading edge technologies. I've lived in Santa Clara in the Silicon Valley for twenty nine years Known Frederick for about ten years and helped get him out of adobe and into a startup storage company named Robo and You know along at That's when I started listening to the this week in barrage podcast hosted by Vincent. So I've been listening to that show for man. Over over ten years, I think even longer than I've known you Frederick. So. I've had quite an interest in urology Personally last November and a dark Moon it you new moon you know night had an accident coming home where I ran into an Amazon. and. Which I wasn't expecting to be there and shorts long story short. You know I tour the complete tear their quadriceps tendon on my left leg. So I spent basically three months into brace. And then than three months sheltering in place. So, during some of your initial cooeperation obviously had a lot more time to pay attention to things and I remember seeing in sort of late November early December, a little bit of a blurb of news about in new virus coming out of China. So Fast forward So the whole incident about the Chinese doctor who had was fighting it. Got Suppressed and who ultimately died, and then you know what we turned into January. This year just exploded as a story and the US and I don't think anybody can go anywhere and a gathering you know A. Virtual. With the friends or family without covy becoming a major topic of discussion. So I very much enjoyed the the seminar you did you know a couple months ago Frederick and. Be Able to put you in Vincent together to Have a follow up. Survey and that is that is that. That's perfect and that that that. Discussion on Cova we did that you mentioned back in the day that will link to that in the description for this episode, but that was designed to be I think the title of it was. Something around demystifying covid nineteen hundred photographers, but it was turns out photographers are actually human so it doesn't does. It back then it. Doesn't really matter but I wanted to definitely follow up on that since we've done that. So much stuff since we did that. Webinar. So much stuff. Vincent that you're intimate with. In the rest of the world obviously is to a degree intimate with has happened both on the understanding of the virus side of things all the way through to disinformation and the politicization of. The whole mask wearing thing and you're not American if you wear a mask and now you are American if you wear a mask and you know all all this stuff has been happening. So I don't want to make this political but I do want to touch on the politics of that before we before we dive in then can you tell us a little bit about yourself and the podcast this week in virology? Well I am a Professor Virology at Columbia University, which is in New, York. I've been working on viruses for over forty years. I've been doing research on them. I wrote a textbook. I have taught many virology courses and twelve years ago I started a podcast. Decided to call it this week. Envir- Allergy I was inspired by Leo LaPorte. Chipper. Who probably inspired you as well I would guess, absolutely. Father. We have done this for twelve years and at the beginning of this year we noticed this outbreak in China we started covering it and I think almost every episode from the beginning of Twenty twenty now has been about the virus and the disease SARS covy to in Covid nineteen. And you know we have always talked about the threats of new viruses emerging. but they weren't taken seriously enough and we've had big outbreaks. You know we've had big ebola outbreaks. We've had Sika outbreaks, influenza outbreaks, many other viruses, but. I hate to say we were not ready for this. This all could have been avoided quite sadly. So now I am full on in educating people trying to counter the misinformation our listeners have gone way way up. It's just great. We're getting mentioned by Malcolm. Glad. Well, we got in USA Today The New York Times this week. But I think more people need to listen because we really tell it like it is and so that's the story.

Public Health Officials Are Increasingly Facing Threats
"Threats for me and my family and harassing my daughters to the point where I have to get security is just I mean, it's amazing I wouldn't have imagined in my wildest dreams. That people who object to things that are pure public health principles are so set against it and don't like what you and I say it, namely in the word of science. That they actually threaten you. That's Dr Anthony Fauci, the nation's leading expert on infectious diseases, speaking to CNN's Sanjay Gupta, about threats he and his family have received because of his work. And Dr Fauci is not alone. Public health officials across the US are also receiving threats from people who are against the policies they put forth to combat the corona virus. Things like recommendations to wear masks and practice social distancing. Michelle Mellow is a professor of law and a professor of medicine at Stanford, and she's been researching this exact topic. Michelle, Welcome to the show. Happy to be here. Shall you wrote an article about the attacks on public health officials during covert 19. What was it that prompted you to even look into this? Well, it happens that one of my bosses that Stanford is married to our Santa Clara County local health officer here in the Bay Area, So I do have a personal connection to somebody who's experienced these kind of attacks. Tell us a little bit about what kinds of attacks were talking about. All across the country. We've really seen a number of things that made your audience seem pretty shocking and are unusual even in the American context we have seen, you know the usual Internet trawling, but the attacks have taken on a highly personal and almost violent dimension. Across the country. We've seen health officer subject to dock, saying the exposure of their personal information like their addresses or loved ones, names on the Internet. Angry and sometimes armed protestors showing up at their private residences, vandalism of their offices and homes, lots of harassing telephone calls and even death threats to the point of having to have private security details assigned to their families. Michelle, one of the things that prompted me. I'd saw the research here and then saw that Dr Anthony Fauci has needed to get his own extra private security because I believed his family had been threatened. Are we primarily talking about high profile figures like that, Or are we talking about? Anyone who's sort of on the front lines dealing with Corona virus cases. In particular, we're talking about people who ordinarily are about his low profile. As you can get local public health is thean visible angel that keeps us all healthy. But most of us until this pandemic you never heard of or seen our local health officer. They have been in the news lately on television and newspaper a lot, so they're no longer such private figures. But these are not high profile figures. They're not national figures. In most cases, they're not. They don't have a political agenda. There are doctors trying to do their jobs. Who are making these threats. Well, it comes from a variety of quarters. Ah, leader in Catalyst in this movement has been the anti vaccination movement here in the U. S. That has all of a sudden pivoted from their usual agenda of attacking public figures who advocate vaccination to going after health officers who are advocating masking and the extension of state home or business closure orders, But it's not on ly these groups. They've been joined by thousands of people across the country who are just really disgruntled and incredibly stressed. By the long term economic impact and social isolation that has stemmed from public health orders during the pandemic. Medical professionals are take a Hippocratic oath to serve whoever it is that needs their help. So like this, this feels like doctors and nurses didn't necessarily sign up to be. In such a political battle, You know, it's interesting the politicization of first responders because those on the front lines were actually caring for covert patients have been politicized as heroes in this pandemic. But the same groups of individuals, doctors and nurses who are working in the public health sector have been demonised as villains. They're all working toward the same goals, and we need to understand that, although they execute their objectives in different ways, they're all working towards a single and so are we. So it's really striking to me that there's been this polarization and how folks have viewed First responders and public health doctor's Michelle. Stick with us. We'll be back in a moment. This is the take away. On the next. All of it, looking for a job thinking about switching to a new one will discuss how to navigate the remote workforce in our series, the future of work, and we meet the director of the new documentary Boy State, which goes inside the weeklong mock government exercise that gathers more than 1000 high schoolers to create their own state government. I'm Alison Stewart. Join me for all of it weekdays at noon. We're back and you're listening to the takeaway. I'm tansy. No Vega. Michelle Mellow is on the line with me. She's a professor of law and a professor of medicine at Stanford, and we're talking about recent threats against public health officials all around the country. Michelle. Have we heard anything from the Trump Administration or other politicians at any level of government about this? Because recently in New Jersey, there was a federal judge whose family was attacked. Now there are talks of increasing protections for federal judges. And I'm wondering if this is now transferring over to medical professionals and health professionals. Well, yet we have to distinguish between medical professionals who are on the frontline response like the ones who are working in hospitals and the ones I'm talking about. Are those were working in public health departments. I'm not aware of specific problems involving the folks who are working in hospitals other than nobody wants to stand next to them at the grocery store. But the public health officials really have had to have protection stepped up. Unfortunately, most of our elected officials to the extent that they're speaking to this issue at all have been joining in the attacks. You know, there are folks who are making their name for themselves politically. By joining in the chorus of attacks against public health officials. In some cases, their own public health officers, you know, saying things like their anti Democratic their tyrannical when in reality, those same health officers are the only people in that state who can issue these orders. They're executing. Planning done by other elected officials, who then sort of hide behind this rhetoric, So it really is, in my view, despicable that instead of offering support to these hardworking, underpaid under attack health officers State and local officials. And in some cases, congressmen and the president have joined in the attacks, and the president himself has been the foam enter and chief here Retweeting such statements as everyone is lying. The CDC media Democrats are doctors, everyone we're told to trust That kind of statement fans the flames. Michelle did your research show whether or not there was a difference in health officers who are in red states versus blue states or our folks that work in these positions across the board, subject to this type of harassment. You know, we really have seen it in all kinds of communities. Certainly there is a red and blue divide in willingness to accept public health measures like masking and to the extent that you're leading a community that's more red than blue. You might have a larger segment of the population going after you. But some of the people who have been under attack are in heavily blue communities were actually most of the population really supports what they're doing. Polling is very much in their favor. But there is a vocal extreme of vocal minority that is dominating attention. Is there anything that public health officials Khun do to protect themselves? You know, to protect themselves. Many of them do need security details, and they need elected officials to stand up and indicate that when these actions crossed the line into illegal forms of harassment, they'll be subject to prosecution in terms of self defense strategies. You know, I think it may be late in the game for this, but there are some things that I think We know help to cultivate public trust and buy in to coerce of public health legal measures. Polling shows us that when people feel that they have a say in public health policy agendas when quote unquote people like me can influence agendas in public health policy, they're more likely to accept laws, even the ones that they don't love. So I think there are opportunities for some health officers to double down on the transparency and candor in their public communications. We do have examples of where this has been done Extraordinary. Well. I think it helps to humanize health officers to telegraph that they're really struggling with these decisions. They don't take them lightly, and also that they have the support of consultation of a number of other people. Well, they're not acting alone and imposing these orders. Do you know of any health officers who have decided to leave? Ah, the job as a result of this because it doesn't feel like you know, the virus is not going away. Assume as many of us would have liked, and people are going to have to make policies and an implement policies until we've got some clarity on where what the next phase of this is so have folks that you know, decided to leave their jobs as a result. Absolutely. I think the count is up near 30. Now, health officers who have either resigned or been forced out by their elected officials since the start of the disease pandemic because of the politicization of their orders. And that includes Oxiris Barbeau, who was the New York City health commissioner. It includes Nicole Quick, the health commissioner of Orange County are most affected County in California. In terms of covert cases it includes West Virginia health officer for the state had the slam so lots of folks who are dealing very, very difficult situation simply, it's just not reasonable to expect them to go on month after month. In this kind of climate, especially when they're not getting any support from other officials mentioned Oxygen's Barbeau and I know that was a big issue here in New York, particularly because she clashed with Mayor Bill de Blasio. Are we seeing a lot of that? A CZ? Well, just internally among Officers and public health officials, and also just, you know, the other officials that they're dealing with. It feels like I don't know if that was very specific to New York City politics or if that's also happening across the board. I think that is happening in a lot of communities. Yes, where you have a schism between elected branches of government that represent communities that have a particular ideological bent and help officers who have been serving you know for many, many administrations many many years and you are You're acting on the science a TTE this point of the pandemic. People are fed up with the science. They want a balance of between health concerns and economic and other concerns. And again. Some health officers have been very good at explaining how public health orders balanced. Those concerns and others who are maybe less transparent, really have been confronted by a lot of attacks from Ah, elsewhere in government. But, you know, responding to local political pressures themselves you mentioned earlier. We we are having to differentiate between threatening health officers and health officials and making and threatening frontline workers like doctors and nurses. But Our doctors and nurses subject to any type of politicization and threats right now, because of the role that they what they could possibly represent, or have they gotten off Have they sort of not been in the cross hairs? If you will. You know, I'm not aware of those kinds of attacks. I think it's more just that What we hear from them is the difficulty that they have in their personal lives Because people know they work with sick people. They don't want to be around him. They don't want to be around their kids. So it's the usual story in any pandemic, where You're the child of somebody who's working with an affected patient. Nobody wants their kid in school with you. I think that causes some difficulties for them, but it's a different quality and caliber of attack than what we've been talking about with public health officers. Michelle Mellow is a professor of law at Stanford Law School and a professor of medicine at Stanford University. School of Medicine. Michelle. Thanks so much, Thank you.

"Being in a roundtable in Jacksonville. Meanwhile, governor onto Santa's yesterday discussed allowing visitors into a long term care facilities. Such visits have been on hold for the last five months. One of things I think we can do is Any family member who has covert anti bodies should be allowed to go visit the facilities. I mean, if you test positive for that, you know, we know that that confers ah, a certain level of immunity. I would be comfortable saying You know, if you do have those antibodies that you should be able to go in and see your family

Los Angeles - California health officials release guidance on elementary school waivers for in-person instruction
"California health officials have released guidelines for elementary schools to seek waivers, allowing them to offer classroom instruction in the midst of the Corona virus pandemic. The officials say some public and private schools and 38 counties on the state's Corona virus watch list can seek waivers from local health officials if they have plans for keeping students and staff safe and meet certain criteria. KP phase Christina Honest and reports the vast majority of public private and charter elementary schools in California will need permission to resume in person instruction. The school year and applies to school is located in one of 38 counties on the state's Corona virus Watch list due to increasing infections. Those schools can re open if they meet with parents and faculty and update their site Specific safety plan to meet specific criteria. State epidemiologist Dr Erica Pan describes what that criteria is they will want to be a short of the site specific plan has a lot of detail about how they're going to make sure that kids are in code words. Which is small, stable groups that are not mixing with other groups. But their safety plans in place for health screening checks or face evidence. For all that. I have strict discovering requirements to confine their state public health requirements room thinks and many other things in place that there Planning and prepared to respond for any cases of 19 kindergarten through sixth grade schools must also comply with guidance from the state and Centers for disease control. Then they can apply for a waiver through their local public health officer to resume and person instruction. Those waivers on Ly apply for kindergarten to sixth grade because health officials say those students are less likely than older Children to become infected or transmit the Corona virus. But schools and counties that have had 200 cases of Corona virus per 100,000 people over two weeks should not apply for a waiver. 14 counties in the state are in that category, including Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino, with several others just below that threshold. Shake Milton’s Late 3-Pointer Saves Philadelphia Sixers In Win Over Spurs
"The San Antonio Spurs lost by the Philadelphia Seventy sixers the seventy sixers took it one, thirty, two to one thirty Oscar down the stretch of that one Damore Rosen was tremendous Santa Tonio and it looked to me like the Spurs. We're going to win the game again for their third consecutive win in the Orlando bubble but then there was a key play late in the fourth quarter on Al Horford had the ball he looked to. The Post he looked like he was trying to post up embiid against San Antonio up to so any NBA posted a tied the game the John Day Mario, the defensive guard for San. Antonio over helped a little bit scale I thought he gets sucked into close to 'em. beat on Horford's ball fake or for kickback to shake Milton Milton hit a three that would ultimately win the game Philly also tremendous game philly a tremendous win for Phillies cal. But I think you have to be awfully impressed with the San Antonio Spurs starting they're starting to in one in this restart and they're awfully close to being three and all.
Working, Making, Creating in Public and Private
"Hi Everyone. Welcome to the. podcast I'M SUNOL and I'm super excited to do one of our special book launch episodes for the new book coming out just this week working in public the making and maintenance of open source software by Nadia Ball and published by Stripe Press. The topic actually applies to all kinds of communities and groups coming together whether it's an open source project, our initiative of Department in a company, a club or a special interest group even group of friends and family because it's all about how people come. Together to coordinate and collaborate around some shared interest or activity whether participatory or not whether code or content, and so one theme. We also pull the threads on in this episode is about how the learnings of open source communities do and don't apply to the passion economy and create our communities as well. Nadia has long been immersed in studying the health of communities including getting funding from the Ford Foundation to study open source then worked at hub in developer experience then did research at protocol labs. And is now focused on writer experience at sub stack for longtime listeners of the six and Z podcast I've actually had her on the show years ago along with Michael Rogers our protocol labs than of the No jazz foundation where we talked about the changing culture of open source, you can find that episode on our site, but in this wide ranging hallway style episode Nadia, and I cover everything from types of communities, social networks, and the evolution of being online and ironically while the book is. Called working in public we also talk about the emergence of private spaces as well as the tragedy of Big Public Commons and how to counter the tragedy of comments which is why I believe everyone should read this book because it's a dirt of literature out there for the era of President Online collaboration creation and consumption that we're in we end with some practical advice for community managers, platforms and leaders, but we begin by defining open source in this context with a really useful taxonomy for categorizing communities. Earlier early was like I really hate this term and I just wish we gotta have something else like public software whatever. Love that I love it too. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to change terms that everyone. On so I know this firsthand. Yeah. I mean I personally find the term kind of intimidating and it doesn't sound exciting when I say the term open source but it really does just referred to the distribution side of cook the existence of open source licenses made it very easy for anyone to use and modify and re Polish someone else's coat and put it in their own software but it doesn't really say a whole lot about how it was actually produced and so I made this analogy in the book, which is actually an analogy I borrowed from a friend Devon Devon Zuko, she still apple podcast for me I. Love Her yes, and says something like the term open source doesn't mean anything anymore than the term company does it's like, yes, we kind of get what a company is but there are so many different kinds of business models for different types companies with open source saying something as open source tells you a little bit about how the code might be used. That doesn't really say anything about how they're actually being made someone has to continue taking care of it. One of my favorite parts of the book is you actually outline different types of communities you call it classifying project types, but it's really to me how people are. Essentially social networks. Really. So why don't you break down that taxonomy and by the way the reason I'm asking is because when I think of the ARC in history of open source, the concept that comes to mind for everybody is that classic book by Eric Raymond, which is a cathedral and the bazaar and I think that framing has two long framed our discussion of open source and frankly any online community yet everyone sort of has maybe like General Santa W-what community is like others a bunch of members and their and organized around some common interests or reason for spending time together. In that highest level definition of community, there's an underlying assumption that all members are sort of similar than just the term members washes over the underlying dynamics between those different numbers and so what I started doing was saying, okay. There is a difference between at minimum, an open source people who are contributing to open source and people who are using stars. So I try to sort of separate out users and contributors and say, okay in some open source projects or as you said, really communities and general, some communities have high trigger and some communities have high user growth and then there's sort of like. Different permutations of that it's like federations, clubs, stadiums, and I forgot the fourth but toys in me what are so I think it's really useful to start with your taxonomy, a federations and onward. So federations are like the really big projects we might be thinking of like Lennox or. Where you have a lot of people who are contributing to the project and you have a lot of people that are using their project. But there are enough people that are working on the creation of that project that it does form his own sort of contributor community. By contrast, clubs have a lot of people who are participating in Chretien but they don't have as many people that are using it and said a product that's kind of focused on a niche interest. The example to give his Astro Pie, which is a Python Library for astrophysicists right? It's high contributor incredibly interested in that but very low user growth because how many people in the world are really interested in That intersection exactly and toys I sort of mentioned in passing in their police. Interesting thing to talk about that's where you have both low user and Lok contributor growth. So that might just be like a personal project them thinking around no one else is really looking at it. They're sort of waiting in the wings before they become one of the other types of communities

John Thank you for coming in and spending time with me and Santa Claus Welcome thanks ravenous so John. You've been a part of helping Santa out for how many years well the the organization that I'm part of has been around since one thousand nine fifty six. I did not start the organization. Nineteen fifty-six but I've been with it for the last fourteen fifteen years now and tell us about your organization but it's a grassroots organization. It was started by gentlemen name. Alf L. Injure Elf. Alf fell under. Oh I thought you said Elf. How appropriate in health started at? No Al Nickname could've been living and working in the city for a utility company and he was going door to door checking on people's appliances doing his job and it came across an older woman an immigrant. That was really down on her luck. And he said I'm here to check on your refrigerator as she says something along the lines of it doesn't matter no money for food so he went back to some his friends and out of his own money out of his own pocket. He ought twenty five dollars worth of groceries and came back to the woman which back then probably filled up her refrigerator up a refrigerator and some nice traditional things in staples and she was so happy that someone would do that that he was overwhelmed by he came home and talk to his family about it and they decided to found this charity. Santa's volunteers so in fifty six. We started with that one family and now we're helping about eight hundred twenty five families over those last year so it's been over sixty and how many volunteers come and put their hands in their heart. You being Santa's helpers over one hundred we gather every December usually the second week in December at Saint Mary's of the Angels Church and Their Auditorium there and we assemble and it's kind of like a production it's a whirlwind of activity. We all sorts of things donated. Of course we have to purchase a lot of things as well and we work with about fourteen charities. Pack everything up and as far as administrative costs it all comes out of the pockets of the directors. So you know one of the ways. We like to differentiate ourselves as a charity is any money that we collect from our donors goes straight to you the bottom line. There's no administrative fees whatsoever so the directors of Santa's helpers also have that spirit of Christmas they do feel great about what they do and whether a director and they're involved for a number of months out of the year or they come with their families for one half day. Everyone walks out with a big big smile on their face so in half a day you packed up boxes filled with goodness. For How many families at eight twenty five and so? I've been president of the charity for the last several years. I got involved from a good friend of mine because of your name. I'm sure right then. Lesson doesn't hurt and Mike Foster got me involved. He's been involved for probably Gosh thirty years now. We live in the same neighborhood on the western suburbs like. Hey would you like to do this? And I thought you know this is great. I was involved in a charity many years ago. My Twenty s called gliding glad tidings for all and when I was in my twenties was all about you know kind of having a party and the gala was dating..

Michael Thank you. Thank you for having me. Well thanks for being on the line did you know he's amazing. Humiliation is whole world view is Michael. How would you describe clause net in your own words? Klausner Klausner is an online community. Although I I hesitate to call an online community because many of us get together. It's a worldwide community that is formed online is a good way to describe it. It's made up of many. Different components is a series series of discussion forums on the site but then there are also resources and areas where folks can download content and exchange information. Hey Mister give finish what you're saying. Actually now that was there. We go Bernard into beyond expedition anyway. So let's go to the next part. Where overuse and production so the movie centers around Scott Calvin who works for toy company? So he's like Santa Claus and he is. The is one of the parents in a divorced family of Laura who is now dating. Neil who is a psychiatrist and he has in the beginning when we find out they remarried murdered are they married my mistake So he we find out that Charlie got bullied at school about Santa Claus and Neil took it upon himself to tell him that Santa Claus. There's more of a state of mind than an actual person which of course Scott up neal hated because he's influencing his I think it's more so I at least I got more so that he's just just influencing and Sunday yeah They don't get along Great Laura and Scott and and Charlie doesn't actually want to be at his dad's place when his mom leaves. He says. Please pick me up really early like seven. Am Early Sunrise Sunrise early just like okay. Whatever that breaks Tim Allen's hard a little bit amazing dinner burns then they go go to a denny's Yep Yep all the other Chinese ads who all along since you're close Japanese and a you know go home after that? It's kind of sad Christmas Eve dinner but in the middle of the night after he read a my story which is the night before Christmas You hear something on the roof. There arose such a clatter one thing leads to another and they kill Santa Claus together as a family. Santa Claus Murder And so he puts on the suit. Because Charlie won't stop bugging him to put on the suit and they go around and do Santa's job and up at the North Pole where he is told because of the Santa Claus clause he is now Santa Claus. You put on the suit you deliver the presence your say Your Santa Claus. We were told by Bernard who is a fast talking. Mr New York Elf and. Anyway Santa Claus Ensues News Santa Claus transformation cursed with the power. More he turns into Santa Claus. The more people think he's crazy and they actually eventually elite get Charlie court ordered to only have operation well not suppression but They take away the visitation. Not taking away. The has superviso-supervisor supervised visitation And so he comes to say goodbye to Charlie. Because he knows he's Santa Claus we've had the lists now all that kind of stuff And he basically runs away with Charlie he can use to come with them. It's Thanksgiving isn't it. Garnered says he was gonNA come from at Thanksgiving. Is that what it is I thought so is he gonNA gone for a month. I didn't know that I miss that somehow. The way these shoe store just got a lot darker it looks like. It's one night that he took him. Yeah because the 'cause they're all still wearing the same clothes but then also but he's wins. News is everything about the sleigh attention to that also really slammed the mistake. Christmas Eve comes round. They start delivering the presence. I like going to stuff. And he gets arrested in their house So then we have to deploy the elves. They break them out of jail they tie up a guy shoved donut and his mouth has a lot of fun And they eventually he brings Charlie back when he says you know. I'm sorry you gotta stay here but if you need anything you know low crystal ball it's GonNa bring me back. He leaves a ten minutes. He finally comes back and one of my favorite moments when they realize is that he's actually Santa Claus Think Judge Reinhold has one of the best onscreen reactions ever seen And she burns the visitation tation papers And they make a deal about. He comes with me Christmas Eve. You guys on Christmas deals gives them mystery. Date gives them the Weenie Whistle Isel. He's Santa Claus forever he gets one more ride with Charlie and gone. LA- don't go across the first thing. He does go across the ocean. So so he's still Scott Calvin divorce in the ninety S. Now that I need to now I'm thinking about how dark the story. Yes so they kill Hill. Santa Kidnapping this breaking and entering at the assault assaulted officer at the end Charlie. They're asking him what he's going to do when he grows up and he's like oh I think family killed his father a little bit of a little complex so oh I'm just saying to it there. "My phone. Ringer turned on seven years. Good luck to look to me. I get it. It's Baba Sherry the affair odd. Cast a Bob and Sheri odd cast cat download on on the free Bob and Sheri APP website. Or wherever you get your podcast Bob and Jerry. Bob's wife. Mary texted me an absolutely shocking rocking photo. I would have been less shocked. Had this photo been of Bob Walking around his house with nothing on but his big smile. This photo shocked me so much that I had to stare at it and then enlarge it with my fingers and stared it again then before I could accept that what I was seeing had not been photo shopped. The caption is Kiki. That's the cat eating grits off himself breakfast fus plate. And there's Bob looking down. It looks like he's having some scrambled eggs and grits. There's Bob looking thoughtfully at his empty plate and the cat is on the table with its tongue hanging out after meeting grits off of his plate and that cat has eaten nothing but dry cat food since well the ten years that I've known it and a jumped up on the table. I don't eat grits all that much. But she's you know she's a southern girl and she will cook him sometimes and she did and I was ending them. The cat walked right it over and put her face right in it. I cannot tell you what joy this after I recovered from the shock. I can tell you what joy this photo gave me. Because because people that don't really have cats or pets Say things like I would never let that cat to fill in the blank. And and that was bob for a long time. Now I don't invite my cats to jump up and eat off my plate or anything like that but occasionally there widely creatures. They're up in in your plate before you know what hit you as is the case here. Yeah you can't hear them coming can't hear them common. I hate the idea that she's on the dinner table. I'm just going to be honest with. It's I don't know either discussing where where. Where does she go? She's got a kitty litter box and now she's walking where I'm eating. Did you listen to what I just said. I have that the thing is when your cat does something like this and someone else's over for dinner whatever there's nothing you can say that persuades these people to think that this is how you live all the time that you you live like animals yourselves. Yeah on the Internet an article veterinary article about cats Good yeah the other day I was. It's going to be going off to to an appearance with you. You know out of state and I want to go to my car and I looked over and there was the litterbox which which is directly in front of my car. And that's the forget when it needs to exactly I'd like it to hit me first thing in the morning as I'm about to go off to work and I do mean hit me so I looked over at that litterbox and it looked nasty and I had to go so I go back inside and herself is upstairs and I said Hey I gotta go. The litter box is full. And and and those words the litter boxes full Are Some of the most unattractive words that a man can say and I said so. You'RE GONNA have to go change the litter box and there's no extra litter you're going to have to go buy it and you're GONNA have to change it. Can I guess can I I guess go ahead. She forgot and it was waiting for. You know she did it. But here's here's her response from upstairs billy now this. I'm allergic to cats. It was her cat. I ended up for the last ten years watching that caddied every single day now. The cat is eating watching me and I asked her one time the change litterbox and I get really. Can you read that for our listeners. I do I. I will preface this by saying I do. I've don't kinds of voice work for different things but this listener writes. This is so random but I had to share it with you. My my dad worked for Goodyear for over thirty years yesterday. He passed away so today I had to call their corporate office. You must have done voice work for them. Because I said that's Max just wanted to let you know that hearing your voice made me smile even though I am sad. Wow so you were probably the on the On the recording the phone tree one. Yeah Well that's nice. Though that you know for a moment he felt a little bit lifted in a really horrible time. You know. I was thinking because my father's gone To wherever it is he went next and and hopefully he's happier there then he was here but my mom is still alive and extremely healthy and Phil filled with energy and impertinent questions about you know. How much do you weigh in that sort of thing? But every time I talked to her she apologized for still being alive and tells me she doesn't have more have much more time to go. Oh she's not that old no way she doing this. I don't know but of course it has me thinking maker stop like wow it. It must be strange and and my husband both and my husband's parents are gone so it's not like I don't know I don't have a front row seat for what it's like to have. Both your parents gone. Both of your parents are gone. But both of Todd's parents of Mary's parents are going merit but she lost her parents when she was very young. And and Max's parents of course are in their nineties indies and still kick in and go into the casino and stuff. But it's a strange any time now someone because my mom tells me every chance to get Sherry. I'm I just don't know why I'm not dead yet. I'll be dead soon. Oh I now when I hear about someone losing apparent. It gets my attention in a different way. Mary used to have the same thing when she would go to visit. The Grandmother. Grandmother died Nine years ago something like that and she was in her nineties and she's like people of that age You're going to have some aches pains and she had quite a few and was not really even getting around very much but Mary would go and sit with her and watch TV with her and and you know just talk with her and if she had little things that needed to be done Mary we do it. Go up in the attic and get something. I old people are always looking for something from the attic. I don't know why but there's always you always have to go up in the attic for them And she would say you know Mary be talking with and she would say Mary Cochran and I just don't know why Jesus still wants me to be here. So then Mary's Position saying Oh but you know everyone wants you to be here I don't know I don't think so I just I think about. Why does Jesus still want me here? I wish I wish you just come and take my grandmom the same well honey. I talked to the blessed mother last night and I said please take me. I want to go now. Agree the trauma. The best thing is just too much so this is a little dark but of course everything that I say is dark so A couple of weeks before my grandmom. Black haired actually did pass away. My pet potbellied pig died. He had A. I didn't not at the time. But he had a congenital defect and it took him early. You know he just. He passed early by the way. Welcome to the happy wiccan. It's the most magical time here so I call my grand. When I'm just heartbroken I still feel like a little little queasy just remembering what that day was like? It was such a shock and my grand will miss so now. She's she's dying herself. She's in hospice care for metastatic static lung cancer. And she's very frail and she's she in the Virgin Mary. You're like texting each other right left. About how quickly my grandmother Condi- and she pauses from her own. Suffering to comfort me over the loss of Spanky my pot belly pig and as soon as she got me to like Calmed down she said. And you know what Sherry I think our Lord has a plan. This is a little rehearsal for you so so so that when Jesus takes me Oh no stop keep the chimes going wing happiness. Come back please come back happiness grandmom you cannot compare yourself to a pot belly belly pig and you know what she said she said. Honey Love is love you love that little pig and you love me and so your heart is going to be broken and no her wisdom and that is that pot belly. There was a lot of wisdom and what she said you know grief. We Grieve we grieve. And we shouldn't judge our grief. We try to measure qualify our grief grief because we love and grief is proof that we're capable of love so and I'm sorry. Days are a short struggle. This heart warming tale of my dad was exactly exactly what you need it sherry with others. I mean. That's not a hallmark in the making went for the Christmas pig. WHO WENT I? And if Boris Johnson cannot get Measure of Support Art They won't have a government to form and the queen will be in limbo as far as her duties go. "He was he was. He was a kite. I was giving him grieve about it. And that's when he went to be he was having none of it. I said you are high and you know you should be at work and making making something out of your life and come on me. I wonder what happened to. Bob was so grossed out by drinking. Not that you picked off a cow manure which is unusual because I think most people would embrace it just the concept. Shame on me. I forgot. That's where he Harvard's harvest as where comes from day one me. I don't know whatever became of job but I bet he's okay. Yeah he was we somewhere in the midwest right no really far. I'll be doggone all right well well I guess that's good news right. I'M GONNA do suffer from severe depression. you described it it is debilitating. It's like you're walking around with cement shoes people sir well and the the current pharmaceutical treatments for depression Sometimes they work sometimes they don't they have some pretty serious side effects there. You know there's I. There is a lot in nature and plants and toads in the Amazon. And all of those things you hear about that if we could tap it it for its medical value get help its effective. Sure we help people That's right so I wonder if they're going to take that product and somehow how change it from a well under your stamp I'm getting gas that by the time Pfizer's finished with it. John Won't be picking it off of manure apply piles getting it at Walgreen's and it'll cost cost quite a bit. I read a really interesting article about how they're using. LSD To help help patients who have died been diagnosed with a terminal illness and to help patients with their existential terror of dying. These are like people in Thirties and forties that have a terminal cancer diagnosis and the the last part of their lives are shadowed by fear anxiety and despair. Sure until they treat them. I am with this. This medical dosing regimen microdosing is what it's called of. LSD and these people report these. He's experiences have helped them put aside their fear and there's Anik and their their terror anxiety and live the this last part of their lives. Yes stuff that's happening out there. Amazing it's it's it's funny who has used LSD. In the past. I was reading this history area of Hollywood. and My mother's favourite actor was Kari Grant and we back in the day and I'm talking about probably the nineteen fifties He was was using. LSD totally illegally but in the nineteen fifties there was a doctor Hoffer who worked with LSD. And they didn't know what they had. It did not become come. The psychedelic drugs. That people were doing because they were trying to It was at that time it was a real medical drug and they weren't exactly sure what they had but depression was one of the things that they thought would treat So what so. What does that say about depression here? At the time he was probably the most handsome handsome man in the world. That's not famous still was going through depressions right. No external characteristic that anybody has in their life whether other its beauty or wealth can protect you from depression or despair earnings is being human. I've also been reading studies. How they're treating being Combat veterans with. PTSD with microdosing. I've never done any hallucinogens. Because my natural state of being gene is such a weird funhouse. I'd be afraid of. What will go? Yeah Yeah like my natural being is so bizarre. I don't know that I could get that anywhere I used to when I started radio have to do noon to six on Sundays at an amusement park with people staring at me I I thought you would have been better off in that little booth. And were it's Bobbin shared the free Bob and Sheri instantly podcast podcast the outcasts and Bob and Sheri size. It's really hard to tell where this story of Prince Andrew is going. You know There there are so many AC accusations that are floating around particularly from Virginia Roberts who of course was interviewed by a British Television show five. More women came forward. Yeah and he's still denying that he had sex with underage girl. Max and I were talking about. This and Max thinks that he has to do that even though his brother has said come out and just get it out there. Tell the truth sooner. Sooner or later the truth does come out but Max feels that if he if he did say I made a mistake. I wish I could take this back but that did happen. That would put him on the way to jail whereas if he continues to deny deny deny hi there. There's no evidently Tape or anything like a recordings yet yet. Yeah as far as As far as we know but based on the evidence they have thus far. There wouldn't the wouldn't be anything that would happen to him legally so I'm guessing in his track. Is You know I'm lying but I'm going to lie anyhow. Just because that's that seems like the best track for me. Yeah I mean. That doesn't. That's not confusing confusing or surprising at all. Of course he's going to deny of course he's denying it so he would not be vulnerable to prosecution. Because of the number of years that have elapsed. No there has to be a certain amount of evidence proving that he did what he said he did. A unless there were a lot of witnesses who came forward to say yes he he was with this woman. Do you see what I mean. I mean I'm not saying I what I'm saying. is He's denying it. Even though he knows we know better. Yeah because you can't get a conviction without evidence. I mean you can't just be like well. You're saying you didn't do it but we know you did off with your head. That's not how things work really you know what jumped out at me with the With the interview with Virginia Roberts. She said that they were out at a club. She was sixteen. I think at the time and She said I can distinctly remember dancing with him and this crowded nightclub floor and he was was sweating profusely and his sweat as we were. Dancing was flying off his forehead and onto me gross. Let let let me let me just say He's he's a more lively man than I am even in my twenties if I go out to clubs and I might dance a little a bit. You aren't spraying the ladies. I have I have never worked up that kind of fervor on the dance floor. That sweat would be profusely coming from my head. I'm her her description of that is doubly unfortunate. Here's the first way because you gross. Here's a second way because he sat on television and told that BBC you see reporter that because of his injury in the Falklands he can't sweat right then who was it the The the Daily News New York so he's all dryness foil Foia driving us. That's my favorite thing out of this whole Brouhaha. It's it's so unseemly. He's he's following the playbook look and innocent then he should be denying everything but you deny deny deny deny because if there's no evidence they can't convict you swine in the world. Would you serve yourself so far. You know it's so strange though. Isn't it strange for his brother. Who will be king to say you know? I think he needs to come out and tell the truth. I mean think of your own brother hurt. Were sister how hard would that be. That charges volved Charles Stain that whatever his intention was the effect was incher lie. Yeah that's that's very very true may not have been his intent but that is the effect. Don't you think Charles would've thought that through and realized I mean this is a man that is very measured with the public. I learned the hard way. Pick his words. I don't know Bob. It's you know what I think. And what I've thought for years about Randy Andy. This is guilty. As he can be and didn't even realize that he was committing a crime. His he was just in that cookie jar like wealthy powerful famous..

Don't even bother. Is that right. Yeah Wind Energy Kit and educating yeah experienced with the ladies this is almost a cliche seventy five percent. Italy leads the country. They're five percent of Italian. How you women are like do not even if you don't know what you don't know what you're doing whereas does do you have the United States way below thirty percent no? It's not France Francis at the bottom Israel The United States is that right religious and political similarity. That's that's what women here I and I think in part because of that what you said like if you if you disagree on those two things. There's just a lot of conflict and ranting it's just life is more challenging I. I'm a little surprised because there are some people who came came from very religious families that I know and not necessarily just Christian families that didn't embrace the the religion and as fervently as their parents did and I would think that they might bend to another religion. There are five things that every woman in the world basically agreed on. I'll tell you what those are next because Max's waving at me. We have to break. What are the five things about men that all the women versus like? Yeah that's about the right order that a man should have those things. No one is chain. You know what it is. Yeah all right. There's some people just have difficulty Consistently smiling I mean everybody knows the old She's got resting beef ace and and I think they were guys who were like that to the don't realize that when they're talking to you they seem mm-hmm. Yeah exactly stern really. But we could all work on having a friendly welcoming smile and the number one thing and don't get all you know no because you don't have this one but you don't need this one. I have the other one other one. You can't have everything it's right if any all the women is going. Oh he has a nice smile does have a nice hot chocolate. I like the MOM and pop places run by people with some sort of heritage. That goes back to Italy. Okay thin crust pizza. That's what I like. But Papa John as you probably know the guy who started it And that whole thing of him calling himself Papa. John Never worked for me. He doesn't look like a Papa John What he looks like a guy who owns a chevy dealership in Akron. It looks like maybe an uncle. John maybe an uncle John but anyway he was driven out of the pizza. It's a business a lot of his own company. Actually Max you remember what happened with this story right. It was some sort of a recorded racial zimmer sort of a phone on call and there was a racial slur involved writing and the stock started to go down and so the you know the Borgia said you gotta go even though you know your Papa John. So Oh he's been below the radar for a while but last weekend he came out and started saying things like. I've been eating this pizza. Every I had a pizza a day for forty days in. It's it's just no good anymore. Yeah I saw I gotta believe it hasn't changed that much I don't know but I gotta believe it hasn't changed that much. But that brings me to Papa. John's they're testing something in Where is it South Korea Papa? John's in South Korea just introduce a new product called the American hotdog. The Pizza and pizza has whole hotdogs. Chili Salsa Sauce Mozzarella Cheese Cheddar. Richie's sauce dejean mustard sauce and pickle relish on top of it. Does that not just sound absolutely horrible. It dies yeah that it just sounds so disgusting. Is that what people around the world. Think of us that that you know. That's what an American pizza would be. Why do we keep trying to make hot? Dogs do anything other than be hotdogs. I agree with you there not good as salad. They're not good in tacos pizza. It's a hot dog is a food that just needs to be allowed to be itself. You are exactly right and keep it out of casseroles. Why don't we fight that so much with the god gets because the dog is so easy to cook and cheap too cheap all right so it's very cheap? Anybody can cook it if you're a kid. That's probably the first when you learn to cook on a campfire or boiling on MOM's stove. Have you ever known anyone to eat hotdogs and scrambled eggs hot dogs and eggs. I haven't personally personally. I've status that that I can kind of understand. A hot dog on a pizza is a distant cousin of the Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage. I Guess Yeah Yeah Yeah. Yeah but a hot dog. I evidently this thing has several dogs. Wasn't there a was it pizza hiding in another country last year. That had the hot dog crust. The hot dog bites the crust. How much how? Why.

"Hey it's Sherry from the Bob and Sheri Show I thank you so much for listening to our podcast. We've really appreciate appreciate you. You're the reason that we do it. And the reason that we're able to keep doing it and I just want to mention that if you hear political advertising of any kind any campaign any race race any party adjacent to any bob and Sheri Show podcast. Please know that we did not approve that advertising we did not accept that advertising sizing we're not compensated for it in fact we have asked every streaming platform there is to exclude our programs from all political messaging surging. Why because political messaging makes people furious? And we're trying really hard to have the Bob and Sheri show be a politics free island so please. He's no if you hear it. You're hearing it at our protests. We don't want it there. Were trying to have it removed. Thank you so much for your patience. Let's get back to the show banned from the holiday. Family Gatherings L.. hit the MIC on the vomit sherry or call one eight five Sherry. I was reading this very interesting thing. Called the clue ooh ideal partner survey and it took a look at what women hundred and eighty countries around the world. Want in a man and it's it's very different depending on where you're from very deficit right. Yeah so like for example. I think the number one choice is a Caribbean vacation in a Volvo station. Wagons is that didn't show up on the list but let's start with the obvious ones like financial security People Women in France have the the least amount of concern for whether or not there man has financial security women in Japan. Have the most. Is that right yeah and the US has us has a couple of steps down from Japan. I wouldn't have picked France Sir with that attitude. I don't know why just because I've never. I thought about that sort of a situation but I would have picked Japan because they are so focused on success and status and status like the sixty six six point. Six percent of Japanese women say the most important thing that a man has to have his financial security and that drops down. Mexico's the second place. The United States is in third and it just keeps dropping dropping dropping till we get to France where basically a third of French women are like. Yeah if you're financially stable that's good whether mchiela all day long we all know that Now where it's super interesting is same political views That's really really big in the US. and I wonder if that's changed because under holzer now used to be as big as it is now Brazil and the United States. That's total deal breaker for those two countries. If you don't have the same political out total deal breaker. It's got to be a tough house to live in this year. If you are are in office here for the past many years yeah that's you you think it's a recent thing but I've been watching people fighting about this on on facebook since Obama's first term. You know what I think is also probably pretty tough where you have one person who is hyper political or at least very interested in and the political scene and has strong feelings. And then you have a spouse who's just not a political person who just it's not that they don't care at all but maybe maybe they'll vote in the local election. Maybe they won't but they don't have that passion that some people have to have to listen whether it's from the left or the right right to have to listen to that other person day and night has got to be stressful. I know a couple like that. And it is exactly what you just described. So kindness linus it turns out that Women in Mexico and Argentina and Colombia. They really want a man to be kind. It barely barely registers in the US. It's hard to believe that is a really shocking. Kindness does not matter that matters letters but not not not so much in any real thing. Dramatic way you wonder. What kind of kindness you know is kindness toward us a kindness toward the world? I think if your mother I think if you're a kind person you're a kind person. I don't think it's possible to be a complete bag ADI's but you're kind old ladies. He's like either you're kind or you're not.

"Hey Good morning. It's the you fired. Santa what a great way to answer the phone. Are you planning on Changing Your Voice Mail as well so reflects I who am I speaking with. This is nicky calling. I probably shouldn't have started with my call with that but anyway no you know what I love it because it it shows you have a sense of humor. And that's really at the crux of all of this isn't it. It's just a matter of being able to have a sense of humor to see see something. That's clearly a joke and understand it for what it is just a show. I would have thought it well. So there's a whole bunch of stuff in all that's right. I mean I I have. I've had time to sort of reflect on this aisle so this is who I am. What you what what a person sees me is what they get? So I'm I tend to perhaps go over the top. 'cause I think something is either funny. I mean the lady in the in the in the in the picture with me that appears to be whole old touching her breasts. She's a friend of our she. Michelle is a huge free living spirit right and and so it just sort of all we should to do this and it and then of course I have to pay it on facebook and I started off to somebody yesterday saying well. I'm stupid but I'm not maybe not you but it's just about my goodness I could go on and on the Santa the Santa Gig is is a huge deal for me. That is not a only in uh-huh Christmas time I started. I have kids come up doing all year round like not every day but are you start at the very beginning then. Let's go back in time. How long have you been a mall? Santa for a Mall Santa. I've only did. This is only my second year. Oh so you haven't really been playing Santa for too long. Then I have the first of all first of all. I don't play Santa I am. I've been doing it for years. I used to work for transit in Vancouver. COUVERT may go bus drivers and I had what I referred to as I said to suit my west coast fantasy which was a pair of Red Reebok. Shorts caught red converse runners white sox or red shirt and hat. I wore that probably for the three weeks leading up to Christmas and white gloves gloves and and I was a volunteer at the club in hospital and one of my duties was Santa Claus for the hospital and taking choirs around through the Christmas season. I don't have sound to your where I don't have satellites plates. I don't I don't live in that way but I am identified. Ask Children's say are you really yes I am. What are you doing here? And and we have a conversation. And it's in the heartbreaking. It's not a something you put on a red suit. Okay now. I'm playing Santa in the mall that that's not the way it is for me. What is it what is it that you like so so much about being Santa? I have to be careful because I. It's very emotional topic for me because then I start to get It it allows a person to be sometimes better than they are. I am a fabulous center here on this and you you want. That'll be new personally. But but on the Saturday you want I rate with adults and children I have my partner and I shoo becomes my NACI. She also she and I work with Children on the autism spectrum here and we do quiet Saturday. We've done that now. In two different locations went up and kicked him out for two years and then here in Penticton presuming. I haven't been fired from that to today. I I'll we'll be up there for a third year. It is a calling. How's that so I I don't know how to you you as a reporter you know when you see a story? Even if you're on holidays you just click on it. SORTA like that. You see something and you click on. You're never we're not on. You're always aware of what you're doing and I have been sitting in a bar and having a child come up to me in the United State and say are you having a conversation mom had said Oh look at that and got you know. He thinks he sat or whatever and and the little girl came over to me and said my mom. Mom doesn't think you're real so the three of us will the four of us because the three of them and we had a conversation and at the end of it all I said so what do you think now Israel your it is. It's magic it is magic. Santa Claus is magic and magic. Doesn't just happen once a year happens all the time and I don't mean I carry around candies in my pocket. I don't it's just something that a person can do and I do it. I can only imagine them how much it must have sincerely hurt you and really deeply hurt you to be told you did something bad and you can't be Santa. You're not a good Santa because you did this thing. Yes When I was sitting at the table yesterday a very short conversation I very nice conversation The manager and the operations manager I you know I I need. I need to ask a question here. And they weren't comfortable with that because their job was to fire me not to engage in conversation but I if if I had been on a stage and I was in a play and something nothing risque was on in the play. That sound was a part of I said at somebody wrote a complaint too. Because Santa was doing this would you have and giving them the time of day that you have given this person over a facebook posting. This isn't even real life. It's facebook so yes was I heard and I felt like what I feel worse today than I did yesterday. These are not dirty pictures right. You got a woman she doing nails. Actually I mean look at the smile on her face it. Michelle goes out if she raises money for people bowl that are that are in trouble and ten during the winter season. And and and just it's such a such a nice person and the lady in the picture with the Flask I. I don't know who she is now but I didn't know where would she showed up so you don't ever say no to people know the picture with the with Michelle that was my idea but Yeah I'm a nice person and and I'm a good person and I'm a great one of my thoughts on my point zero whatever that was talking to somebody yesterday. I'm very supportive. Two of a person that says I have a complaint. I have a concern. I want to be hurt. I think that that's important. That people be allowed that but then we get to this and I think that the mall and Manulife because they are the owners of the mall and they. I think that they had a hand in this. Somebody should have had had the courage and foresight and the leadership to say this does not concern us. It did not happen on the mall property it it did not happen within the timeframe of our contract with Santa. If you have a complaint you'll have to take somewhere else but we can't help you but instead ah they jumped and this you know. I think that a part of being Santa is. There's the good side of Santa Who's great with kids and then there's the cheeky fund side of Santa Who's caught Kissing Mommy under the mistletoe is is that not fair. Billy Bob Thornton. I want that paycheck. Great movie really. It is a cheeky fund side of Santa as well and that's why kids love Santa but adults loves Santa Two so now are we being told that we don't get that adult Santa Anymore. You're asking the wrong person. Do you ever get invited to you. Know Sort of adult Christmas parties company Christmas parties. That kind of thing. I well not until last night. But there's a there's a owner of an adult store is asking me to come and work there see. Look you have a whole new head K. of opportunities that have been placed in front of you. Now well I do but I have a a daughter that would ah daughter in the correction system. That would probably would would feel better if I wasn't doing that and my partner definitely doesn't want me doing that so I think we'll just say that was. That was a good idea. But we'll let it pass but I want to do but I don't WanNa do it so in this case as I think Santa will pass. So what does the future hold for you now as we head into December. Are you still going to be making public appearances. And what will be happening in that regard. I have of several scheduled here in Penticton but for all I know I've been fired from all of them because of this. I haven't got a clue as this morning but there is I I have have two days at the Child Development Center. I have a date at the bears. Dan Restaurant and I have a date at another at at Wayne and free coffee shop and we also do the sowings mom and child family dinner that I had to cancel my appearance because of conflict with the mall. But I'm going to call them this morning morning and see if they want me but in truth. I don't know that people are going to say no. We want you to come. I have no idea coming up later in in this episode. What does the public think of Gary being? Let go from the mall that he worked at as Santa Claus was it fair to terminate him. I walked out the company. My hope is lots of fun to me by throughout you're listening to this is why a national radio show and podcast from Global News..

"If you don't follow along with us. Yes. Now, let's dive in a little bit to Santa Santa Steve talk. Great santa. He was some backstory. What is Santa Stephen Santa, Steve, I don't know a lot of people know this. But Santa Steve is. Impart a Scott Pellegrino creation. Okay. Really? A former creative director creative director producer of source fed back in the day like from what like twenty years there. I Don t twenty nine in twenty fourteen to like twenty seventeen I'm in office that long. Yeah. Fuck maybe not funny where he was there. Anyway, if you guys wanted to it's interesting, you could definitely like go back through the back catalogue of source fed, and we could give you like an unofficial kind of like timeline of when producers changed when the behind the scenes stuff changed that way, you can see kind of the evolution of the of twenty minutes or less all the way to what it was with that Fels Candace was responsible for certain things like we've set at a number of times. But of table talk was the most enjoyed piece of content from the source days that was a Bom Bom Asian moment. We were all trying to come up with and Bowman was. Like what about a show where we just pull like weird things out of a bowl? And it's it can say like a he-man toy from nineteen eighty and then you just have to talk about that table talk. It started the trend too of like us having aggressively bland titles for things movie club or talk, and like everything just has this sorta I kind of like that. I think it's a very kind of table talk. Sounds so simple. And it was such an essay. Show. Yeah. Yeah. Well, anyway, so that so yeah, we could. So the Pellegrino years of source that is where. That's so funny. That would be the chapter the Pellegrino year or the Pilla green. Oh, year Pellegrino. Eight months the bell the villa green part time. But no, he he helped create Santa Steve he actually he loves to save at he created Santa Steve. And like it's one of those things where it's like let him have that one. But to be quite honest. The idea he had was was like, let's just get you in a Santa costume you sit down in a chair. And then we'll bring everyone in the office over to your lap. Are you doing your taxes right now? Joe, no, I'm sending us our address that. I didn't do. Well, I'm sorry. If I'm being rude. No, keep going. I'm listening. I'm in. I'm engaged. Yeah. So Scott, Scott Pellegrino was like go sit on this chair in Santa outfit. And we'll bring everyone in the office around symbol, ideas idea embryo, and it became sort of you roasting people in saying and USA character in the moment to I did create the character and the and the the weird like voice, I'm doing is. Like, weirdly familiar, but not anything I've ever heard. I am. I texted you last night because I could not get your voice narrating. My thoughts. Have you ever had that? It's so annoying. And it's like, it means I've had like a fun time or like felt connected to somebody like if I or spent Abacha crazy my time with them. But like, I could not lose. Ev like it was like you were in my head. And it was it was terrible. I'm sorry. I have that way with people. Yeah. So Santa Steve is just this amalgamate of a little bit of Santa a lot of bit of Steve some of your George r r Martin Carey and a lot of like Hugh person that is on at least seventeen different lists. Yeah. It's it. It definitely was a way for me to make my friends laugh initially, you know, it was a way for us to like impromptu because that's one of my most favorite thing. Things to do is be on camera with my really funny, friends and just improvise..
