We'll make it available for anybody who hasn't seen, and you can sign up and check it out and see some of Ryan's recommendations. rebuilt on today's conversation so. We set out the intention when we first did that interview that we wanted to do an interview for the podcast. I'm glad it happened at the first interview that I'm doing in person in the world of. Semi Corentin and social distancing so Thank you for coming into the office. It's an honor. Thanks for having me so I wanNA start off with something which is I want to talk about dance? DANCE REVOLUTION So tell US anybody who doesn't know what it is. Tell us what it is, and why he became passionate about. Yeah, so dance dance. Revolution is a video game. It's an extra game. Extra Games are things that incorporate. And Gaming And or active video games it was followed by the success of like Nintendo. We for instance that became very popular dance dance. Revolution's interesting because it was popularized when I was a kid. Probably before that I think in the eighties and nineties, and it's essentially a game where you're controller is a pad that you stand on in the middle is you're standing place? You have an Arrow pointing forward pointing backwards to left and went to the right. There's arrows coming up from the bottom of the screen, and you have this answer key at the top. Top with those different directionally facing arrows, and it's to music, and it was a Japanese video game developed by Nami, and it was super popular in Arcades at home on the playstation, two and I grew up as a very overweight sedentary kid I had a pretty severe concussion in preschool, and so that created some concussion induced adhd so I was addicted to video games, and I think I would then have met the criteria for video game addiction now, which is like it wasn't every day, but it was like four hours a day of video gaming. into early call of duty before it was like an e sports thing so if I kept on it, I could probably been pretty well right now. Playing golf duty but I actually came across the home version of dance dance revolution when I was a kid in high school, actually no middle school early middle school and I lost a lot of weight playing that in my living room and it got me into. That got me to lose weight and it was motivating had all the elements we might talk about being important for an exercise program that is sensitive to brain health. And then it got me into the gym, and when I was in high school I joined a gym across from my high school, started weightlifting, watching personal trainers, we can go into that later, but essentially kick-started my personal health, an interest in fitness, and with that fitness that is cognitively enhanced meaning that I wasn't on an exercise bike, watching the news or staring into space I was cognitively engaged in that program since then dance dance revolution has been present. Among a lot of research context and neuro rehabilitation in older adults. It's not really that accessible anymore. You can't just get it off the shelf as much as you could. Previously, but it's really paved the way for a whole industry of active video gaming extra gaming. And it has spun off also clinical or serious extra gaming games that are used for health and clinical contexts such as some of the solutions. We use it the Pacific Brain Health Center. For the listeners who are like way, why are we starting the conversation video game? This all make sense so you know in reading about your story and getting a chance to get to know you over the last year, or so as we've been introduced by our mutual friend, Dr Shawn Patel who's a regenerative medicine doctor here in Los Angeles who's been on the podcasts before linked to that. I got a chance to see how your struggle as child especially with weight fitness and being sedentary. You found something you found something that created joy inside of you, and that's actually really related to a big part of what you teach right now we'll start off with the basics and we'll talk about what brain health coaches and some of the science of it, but you found something passionate that you that got you excited to move. Move something that you enjoyed and I. think that such an important thing as simple as it sounds. This video game was the thing that got started. That was ultimately the thing that starting your journey down this pathway of understanding the power of really what exercise can do for the brain, so let's start there. Let's start off with the basics you know. We've done so many episodes on the power of exercise, but as a refresher. Tell US why exercise is so important and what it does for the brain. Yeah, and there's been an explosion of research and media coverage about this I. Like to say that the mainstream popularity around exercise. The brain was really kick started by the book spark by Dr John Radi ever grateful for the work. He's done in popularizing that and twenty eighteen, the second most popular Ted Talk. In that year was Dr Wendy Suzuki talking about exercise in the brain and a lot of mainstream coverage, and you know in New, York Times and medium covering on boosting these posts on exercising, the brain has become very popular, and that's amazing, because it's also jumping on the kind of. The coattails of neural plasticity research showing that the brain can change. I think this audience has been very well presented that information right we to our brains were fixed. We were taught in high school. They have a certain amount of brain cells. Will Never. It's all downhill from there and it turns out. That's not true exactly. Neuro plasticity, so the brain's ability to functionally or structurally change. In response to experiences,

"Joining us today is Anthony Valdez DJ KCRW in Santa Monica California Anthony great to have you back Jeremy it's always great to hang with you and talk music brother tell us what you had in mind with these pics Anthony any theme going on here actually you know what Jeremy there's really nothing but looking back I mean I'm looking at the play listeners songs of the Latin bass for that definitely was not intentional these are just songs I love all right well let's get to some of them this is the Chilean rapper on a tease you with antifa day one of the which is when a couple guys I said this is called and keep the dance we've been hearing about antifa in this country but in the case of ana teach you she's talking about some of the issues going on in Chile that's correct I mean basically what was she speaking about coincides with what's happening in America but also in her home country of Chile her parents were living in political exile in France during the Pinochet dictatorship during the seventies and eighties and she's just heavily involved with women's rights and the protection of indigenous people and people of color across the world and you hear a lot of that into work and for folks who don't know she's been rapping since the nineties she was in a group called my visa and then she broke out in it's kind of been evolving stylistically sonically and visually and she's been held by Thom Yorke of Radiohead who set her record nineteen seventy seven should be listened to by just about everybody okay well the next one you have brought us is by clubs this is called Pronto so I'm taking this Latin five today and today and by the way this one is from Monterrey Mexico that's correct what I love about this song is that it reminds me of a lay in it sounds very pool side is she Tory wall but they say they they have this great quote they don't want to be the Hispanic version of your favorite band so I really dig that and also being at a Monterey which is known for their the kidnappings and a lot of drug violence so it's hard for these guys to actually play out in developing a local fan base I'm glad the units around these guys are definitely showing the music kind of putting one's free music on the map what do you think they mean by that that they don't want to be the Hispanic version of your favorite band well I think traditionally for a lot of Latinos you know we're happy to have a Latin alternative spotlight but at the same time we don't want to be boxed in we want to be just music when you talk about Coldplay you don't call them British rocker whatever it's you know it's cold play and I think the same can be said with what they're saying and also you know there's nothing worse than being on the Latino joy division so it's like these guys are clubs all right well the next one you brought us is junior mesa this is called very soulful sound from junior yeah and he's only twenty years old he's a multi instrumentalist of Bakersfield California what I love about him is when something moves you sonically and you tell your friends about it and they know about it you know how do you know about this and this definitely this really positive buzz and what I love about him is that he channels you know he's a fan admittedly of sly and the family stone Ella Fitzgerald Wes Montgomery and I love that these kids are channeling that spirit in implementing into these new sound so it's amazing how do you find all these twenty year olds are like I feel like we've had eighteen year olds from you before I well I mean I'm very active on blogs I love the internet but I love you know talking to kids I talk to the young bands in the Michael you listening to me hit me to some of the coolest stuff and so I'm always learning it's it's fun yeah I mean certainly eighteen get well the the next one that your product is sumo hair this is Paulo demand the tropical flavor there with the steel drumming yeah I'm so glad you use that where tropical so he was someone who was born in Mexico now based in LA and he was in a band he's in a band called are we to corporates vocals drum loops regi tone samples targets and I found out about this kid some lives and explored check them out and found his bandcamp page and it's not always working he does these really cool remixes of of Columbia and like hip hop and funk and soul and that's a lot of what I do in in LA one week each year there's a lot of that L. A. parties is this inclusion of all these different sounds but soon where it manages to take it one step further and really create something new and something that's tropical as you mention but also just different and and fresh and I love it in a side note he's also a celebrated hair stylist who studied in New York at Vidal Sassoon which is obviously something to do with how he got the name similar hair I guess bingo let's get to the next one this is All Things this is when you go that's when you'll know so Anthony this is taking me back to my college days like listening to your show driving down like Melrose and just getting lost in the music like this good that was the whole point I'm glad you're there something beautiful happening in music today where it's the revitalization of Chicano due out you know growing up in LA especially like around gang culture a lot of the gang members for some reason I never understood this but you know they were war years during the day but they were lovers at night and they would I remember hearing you know all these in the art Laboe show and then sounds like I'm your puppet and so thirty years later I'm watching these eighteen year old kids recreating this sounding even as going as far as recreating the sonic aesthetics with authentic studio gear for thirty years ago and you know you're starting to hear more of a falsetto more passion and more love and the Alton definitely brace and another group that steps be champion now is he gonna Batman that has the same aesthetics and I love it no the original detail that I got obsessed with as a kid in the middle of the night was on an oldies station so I was listening to songs of the fifties sixties and seventies and probably if you played just about anyone else I could sing all the extra effort because of myself on that in a while but anybody who's influenced by that may I say all four at the ballot as DJ KCRW in Santa Monica California thanks as always Jeremy we love you but please don't ever utilized a falsetto from me please okay if you want to hear more you can go to our Spotify playlists NPR here and now also on apple music and it's here now.

Navigating The Future Way of Cruising with Emma Cruises

"How you doing today I am doing good. I'm still in my pajamas. I have a nice shirt on and we are going to be recording another show from the couch. That's right cruise dude studio here in Santa Monica California Nice Quarantine. Day How you doing. I'm getting ready to go cruising a Ken. I can't wait. I'm watching all the videos on Youtube. I'm checking out all the INSTAGRAM'S. Everybody is very encouraging. Just cruising is coming Basso. Speaking about videos we have a special guest. We Have Amaafuza. And she has a website called cruising is not just for old people and she put out the nine things. They're going to be changing because of Cova nineteen in the cruise lines and we're going to discuss her findings and some of those things and we're going to go into some details and share our thoughts. Sure she'll share her thoughts and I think I don't. I'm ready to go you know. She's already had thousands of hits on this one video and it's only been out for like four or five days. It's incredible so. Let's get right doer. All right here we go. Well we have a friend EMMA FROM MMA CRUISES. Low Low Emma from home cruces. Just old people throw people that's me we're all cruising from our couches right now. Are you cruising from your couch undoing? My best is the food isn't as good and entertainment is not the same but trying what do you mean isn't Hudson providing new show every night now? I was really excited to work from home and see what Hudson doesn't the daytime. He doesn't nothing absolutely at least though. Because we're all zooming. All we have to do is put on a shirt and have our pajamas on the bottom. My right that's that's pretty much the Slo move version of what I wear. If I'm wearing like me dressed up for the day it's not. It's just in pajamas. Would everyday Yup Yup and all we're waiting for is to get back to cruising and that's why we're here. Hey so tell us. Let's just let's go back. What was your last cruise My loss cruise on the Norwegian spirit. My favorite cristobal time. Just before Christmas was decorated for Christmas it was was fantastic. Reading Ice Really missed that cruise ship. She had a massive refit. Just after I came off and I was hoping to get back on board But yeah that plans been delayed for now for a little bit just for a little bit. Oh well you. You produced a video Couple of days ago and and it's titled Nine Ways Your cruises will be changing after Kovic nineteen and we thought that it was just so timely and so informative. We decided to have you on our show to share with us. Some of the things that you have discovered here. Can you tell us? Where did you find? These proposed changes coming to cruising a case. So there's there's a company who genting Hong Kong who owns three different cruise lines They own stalkers crystal cruises on dream cruises. I'm not sure how much you guys know about them because they mostly in hr but they came out with. You're familiar with crystal crystals pretty much. When I know dream all they did have something to do with Norwegian for awhile so the ships are pretty much. I think of them as being the Asian versions of the Norwegian cruise ships. If you look at them you would think that they were Norwegian cruise ships but then but they release these guidelines. That said. This is what we're GONNA do when we get back to cruising and it goes through everything from cleaning how they're going to change on the buffets in the main dining rooms how they gonna Change. They're expecting changing the way people book things And I think that the first cruise line. That's come out with this. They're not going to be the last one. They all based in Asia so when Corona virus hit they one of the first ones that were affected. We didn't really hear too much about it at least in the UK but they did have positive cases on board one of the cruise ships so they were quite badly affected. I kind of I think they just the forefront with these guidelines everything. They've said I think makes perfect sense to me and it's kind of just an extension of what they already do. I hope the day GonNa do some of these things anyway. even if it wasn't in this situation some of the things like they want to remove service buffets and have other people serving you. I'm quite happy for them to do that anyway. I wish that they did that from the beginning. Wow Wow so before we start all of these. Can you go down the list of what are the ways? And then we're going to go back and talk about them. I've got my. My list is much more than nine now. Await breaking news breaking news. You're on the cruise dudes podcasts. And so the things that are going to happen. Some of them are. I think there's more than nine because I've said I think a few things as well join my. I think so just as I said. Let's go for the time. And they were going to go for the Emma. I think's I so ankle fitness to travel certificates for anyone. Who's over seventy Norwegian did do that for for? Why didn't they before they come with us? And they gonNA carry on with that in the future. I think I think that they're going to ask for three of travel insurance for pretty much. Everybody I think that makes makes sense. It's perfect yes. Yes very good sense so Actual proof that you just you just have to show it. I've been on cruises before. They also might travel insurance information so some cruise lines probably already do this. They've talked about doing heat scams on people when they embark unnatural. How this is GonNa work in reality because some some people might just have a hot flush. Some people won't have a fever with they do have the current virus so this this may change but they all talking about having scans when people doing balk. When I took a cruise in Japan. They made us all get off and they scanned all of us in a little stock on which at the time I thought was very very strange about year and a half But the they do already have away to you know. He'd scam evolves amount of people in this saying they're gonNa do that when they embark. They also might tryin. Stagger embarkation. Because at the moment you can get a lot of people. Can't you just line up and get on board so they might make people stick to those times when they say you have to get one at certain time and I'm supposed to pull it out. I have to admit I want to get onto soon as I can. But that may become an actual. They have said that. They they getting rid of the self service buffets. So I'm sure they'll still have some of buffet but they're just going to have Someone serving it to you which I would like that. Anyway is just a question of more staffing. Isn't it. So yeah but the they have said that they're not GonNa do soap service anymore. They've said they're GONNA put Disposable cutlery for people who don't have disposable cutlery which I think seems quite quite. Extreme doesn't it. Cutlery should be clean. You would hope but Exact if people requested they said that they're going to have disposable cutlery viable which I don't think has ever happened before I've never tried but I don't think that's happened

"On these departments and the workers for either not working or not getting paid as hostages to have a temper tantrum pound the table and say, it's our way what we heard all these people. So what was this meeting today? Bloomberg's so he'll Kapoor expected to be dialogue. They didn't expect it to be a conversation or negotiation. So from the White House's perspective. This was a you know, an attempt. Appear engaged in this conversation, and to you know, to not look asleep at the wheel so tomorrow house speaker in waiting Nancy Pelosi says she'll introduce legislation that will fund the government, including a Bill approved by Republican Mitch McConnell McConnell now says the Senate won't even vote on anything that the president says he won't sign impasse. Meanwhile, Mr Trump says he's ready to meet again with Kim Jong UN he says, he's just received a letter from him and that Kim is pledged not to make or test nuclear weapons or give them to others Taiwan's president signing on has has rejected. China's president Xi Jinping's call for unification and for any talks to get there. I wanted to China has to squarely face the factual existence other Republic of China Taiwan instead of denying the democratic system. The Taiwanese people have built together and Bloomberg's Tom MacKenzie says president Cy can point to Hong Kong, she and her party could of course, point to the erosions of freedoms in Hong Kong as an example of why that system may not work for the Taiwanese people. Global news twenty four hours a day on Aaron a tick tock on Twitter powered by more than twenty seven hundred journalists and analysts in more than one hundred twenty countries in San Francisco, I'm Ed Baxter. This is Bloomberg Douglas. All right. Eight past the hour and our guest for the half hour is KOMAL SRI Kumar, here's president founder of SRI Kumar, global strategies based in Santa Monica, California, SRI, always a pleasure. We were talking earlier about the market beginning to discount, the next move from the fed as a cut in interest rates is that a little extreme. Do you think? I don't think. Extreme at all. And he gained a deep. Good morning to you Doug in Asia. And Juliette as well. I think it is very much in the cards. I think he's DVD straight one more time in two thousand nineteen. Even the two times a day have suggested the yield curve is going to invert parts of the US. Treasury yield curve have already inverted important one is the two to ten year. Curb today, we saw a big dip in terms of the spread. And we also saw that in the case of the spread between the treatment treasury and the ten year yield that drop to the lowest net data was spread since the two thousand eight financial crisis. So you really signals which are coming to you about the recession. So the response of the fed, which in my opinion, rather than be oriented toward the economy and inflation is really oriented toward the equity market, and if the equity market takes a dip salt of the bond market signals the federal cartridge, even in twenty nine hundred. So you're saying recessionary. Discs closer than we think. How did you read the downgrading guidance from apple that sort of playing into this picture to absolutely Juliet, I think what that suggests is the fact that has President Trump has been very happy that Chinese growth is slowing. He had seen it as the Mark of success of his trade negotiation policy. The problem is compared with even ten years ago. China is a much larger global economy. So when the Chinese economy slows Wednesday take action against apple and Google and other firm large US firms dependent on the China's sales that is going to reflect in terms of how they perform in twenty nineteen. So it is no longer a case of the United States punishing China and feeling good about it. It is essentially does mortar for boomerang rather than an bullet. So is the weakness that you're seeing in China. A largely the result of the trade wars. It was it more of a situation that existed before the trade war began because China was aggressively trying to de leverage. That's a great question. I think yes. The de leveraging costs somewhat of a slowdown in terms of the GDP growth, if you could ever believe those numbers, I go looking at other areas such as retail sales electric city consumption, railroad traffic and today, a great story in Bloomberg discussing the big fall off in the consumption tax revenue for the latest one after increasing for several months. This is the first big decline in quite a while that suggests to me. That there was an initial showdown that had taken place because the government would switching over. Stimulus. Glaciation..

"In Santa Monica, California and from West Virginia public broadcasting. I'm trae K host of the us and them podcast, and Sherry I was talking to voters at that Mike Pence rally last week. I bet you were they sounded fired up. I mean, you could hear that room explode when he talked about the migrant caravan, right and immigration, certainly was on their minds mature, I gotta ask you west Virginia's about two thousand miles from the US Mexico border. Why is this issue motivating voters in your neck of the woods? Well for some people. I think it's the fear of the unknown Joyce Jennings. A woman from Preston county. She put it this way in my little can we know everybody in west Reno everybody these people coming in here. You know him here know what you're capable of doing or what they aren't going to do. It's just hard. And as soon as those words, routed Joyce's mouth. I think she knew how that sounded. But also talked to Chris up to graph. He's a former Californian and he moved to West Virginia about twenty years ago. And he said that illegal immigration affects him here in West Virginia as much as it did on the west coast, it affects jobs everywhere. And when it's done without a control system in place. Then it affects a lot of different industries. It affects healthcare it drains on the system. It sounds like those folks in Preston county. Chris Joyce that they don't see an economic upside of immigrants because a lot of people are going to tell you there is an upside a lot of people that I spoke with even here far from the border see immigrants as a drain on resources, and they take jobs away. Now in California. It's a different story. I mean immigrants work in restaurants as nannies they start food trucks gas stations and other businesses that pay taxes here in LA by some accounts. One out of every ten residents is an undocumented immigrants. So they're big part of the economy. I talked about all this to a woman named Linda Lopez. I would say.

So Jennifer throughout their and they're saying, Jin helped me right now. I want to go to my fridge, throw away all the bad stuff and just start eating all the good stuff. What it's all the stuff I should throw away today, Jane if we're just hardcore what Jin says, rules, what should I throw away right now I'm listening right in a lot of actual listeners telling me, I'm going to the fridge here. We go thrown it away. Tell us that's there. That's all the package fits. Got it. All snacks, chips, cereals. Okay, got it. Done. All gone. Milk. Jeez. What am I getting cookies with? For sure. "It's not a perfect foam roller that's going to get your body better. It's what you do within yourself. Just the same as you would do with anything else in life. If you wanna create a business, if you wanna create anything, it takes action steps just like it doesn't Niro body and the first that I say is listening because most of the time what I see is the biggest issue out there is that we're masking. So we listen to everyone else everyone else in the world, and we pay more attention to that and say, other people are worth listening to the one place we're not saying were worth listening to is our own body, which is so sad to me. So you your person. If you look up your name online, it's j. e. in ES q. u. e. r. a lot of our listeners are probably wondering, eat food. Does she just water an ice diving? Because. The media question is when you see somebody who's in shape, does she ever eat at all concerned. I gotta ask you, this is your daily diet look like and listeners out there that go. I'm an entrepreneur and I'm I want to do whatever you're doing. I wanna do that. What are you eating on a daily basis? Oh, man. So what I ate is probably going to be different from another people eat, and I'm definitely not the person who is starving herself. Oh my goodness. I love food. But I'm also listening to my body so I know things in particular for my own personal body when I eat more dairy, Shergar gluten and grains. And even like beans and legumes doesn't respond well to my body. So when I more of a quote whole thirty lifestyle, which is going to be proteins and vegetables, fruits and nuts, my body feels like it can thrive. I actually have fuel. I have energy. I'm sleeping while and I'm working out amazing. So I tried to stick to that on general day-to-day basis. But I love my wine with my girlfriends. I have ice cream from time to time. I Petah from time to time. I'm I'm not perfect, but when I do eat those foods, I enjoy them and I'm not beating myself up for eating them just to make actionable for over listeners out there. I wanna make sure Jin, but if I'm getting something wrong, you correct me because you're the guru, you're the person. If you Google you, you go well done. If you could go me. Oh. Yeah, A-share instead of exactly. So like for you to make sure mcginnis, right? If I avoid weet sweets and alcohol, that's a good thing. If I want to know wheat, no sweets new alcohol is a good thing you're moving in the right direction. I, there will be people who fight me on the wheat and that's okay. But in general, I'm gonna say dairy has been proved to increase inflammation, so sure I stay away from cheese and milk. I would personally say is better and sugar for sure. We know is inflammatory and most gluten foods, meaning processed packaged snacks and all that stuff. So I'm just gonna recapping. I'm I'm not trying to take what you're saying out of context, but if you wanna look like Java the hut Etowah weet have a tone of sweets drinking alcohol. If you wanna look at job with the hut. That's what she's saying. That's what I'm taking out of this interview. Now. The next inning. I wanna make sure getting us. Now if you want to get in shape, you wanna eat lean meats, right? But Chaba lls and not drink your calories and missing something. Lean meat the vegetables and don't drink your calories off their my wrong. Now you're pretty on point there. Okay. So for the listeners out, there that go, okay, Jen, I've googled your name. It's j. e. n. e. s. q. u. e. r. you know, all the lady all the listeners are doing it. They're all they're all going. Okay. "He was trying to engage with a level of magical reality at our cabin that's quite real in the sense that these beings manifest physically they do so in this apartment where i'm sitting in santa monica california all the time most recently a few days ago so it is an ongoing part of life but i have a question for you that is very important to me personally because my lifestyle is this i'm i'm meditate with them at eleven and at three in the morning and often if i am tired and can't manage to wake myself up i do not use arm clocks at all because this is this isn't about automatic things like that if i don't wake up for a night or two they will come in and wake me up in fact if i will say to them well i don't want to do this anymore quitting then they then there's a fight they will they want this to happen and they are they do manifest in the physical world and i can i can get them to manifest visible world by by picking a fight with them easily or by refusing to do what they want me to do and i want your opinion as to what they are carl because william was aware of their presence aiming systems to he had them in his life from time to time i not sure he wrote any anything about it and at least one of the people who is who was very involved with william in his later life was quite possessed by the idea that williams should be not an occult figure.
